History about orange city
 In 1853, after death of Raghoji 3rd , the princely state
of Nagpur was annexed by the British & the territory
occupied by present district become part of Nagpur
province.
 In 1861, it was merged with the central provinces &
Nagpur district become a part of one of its division,
Nagpur division.
 In 1903,it become a part of central provinces & Berar.
 In 1950,Nagpur district become part of the newly
formed Madhya Pradesh state & Nagpur become its
capital.
 In 1956,after the re-organization of state, Nagpur
district was in co-operated in Bombay state.
 On 1st may 1960, it become a Maharashtra state.
Nagpur-Orange city
 Main Cultivation is Orange.
 Weather, wind, and humidity is good for
the cultivation of orange.
 Famous for orange dishes like Santraburfi.
Relevance for Business
 More impact on food industry.
 Attract tourist.
 Transportation also increase the benefits
of food industry.
Features of Nagpur
 Men wear dhothi and kurtha, women wore
nughada.
 Famous food is kadi, masala bath, puran
poli, vangache bhaji.
 In villages still they use to cook food in
‘choolha’.
Divisions
 Nagpur district is divided into 14 talukas:
 Ramtek ,umred , kalameshwar , katol
kamthi, kuhi, narkhed,parseoni,bhiwapur,
mouda, savner, hingna & deolapur.
Vidhan Sabah constituencies:
 Nagpur south west,
 Nagpur south,
 Nagpur east ,
 Nagpur central,
 Nagpur west,
 Nagpur north.
 Katol, saver ,hingna, umred , ramtek,kamthi.
 The first six consistencies are part of nagpur
lok sabhah consistencies.
Demography
 The district has a population of density of
470 inhabitants/sq.m. (1200/sq. m.).
population growth rate over the decade
2001-2011 was 14.39%.
 in Nagpur has sex ratio 948 females for
every 1000 males & a literacy rate of
89.52%.
 The district had a population 4653,171 of
which 64.26% were urban as of 2011.
Nagpur district has following
administrative.
 Nagpur municipal corporation.
 Nagpur improvement trust.
 Narkhed municipal council.
 Katol,saoner,ramtek,mowad,khapa,umred,
narkhed,kamtee,kalameshwar muncipal
council.
Transportation
 Specially train connecting india’s major metropolis
like Mumbai to Howrah to Kolkata, Delhi and Jammu
to Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kanyakumari
in the south, as well as western cities such as Pune
and Ahmedabad.
 Also nagpur is major junction for roadways. As india’s
two major national highways, Kanyakumari-Varanasi
and hajira-kolkatta, passing through the city. One
more highway connect to nagpur is obaidullagani near
bhopal.
 Nagpur is at the junction of two asian highways
namely agra to matara. Srilanka and connecting
Karagpur , india to dhule.
 The MSRTC buses run in cheaper transport.
