Iqbal Movie Review
IQBAL is a story of an 18 year old boy from village who is deaf and dumb and whose only
ambition in life is to play for Indian Cricket Team and become best fast bowler.
But his mother Saida and sister
Khadija supports and encourages
him to play cricket..
He is born to a lower middle class farmer
Anwar Khan. He is discouraged by his father
who thinks that Iqbal's daydreams are a
waste of time. Instead, he wants Iqbal to help
him tend to the crops and become a farmer
like him, which would be a stable profession.
Iqbal practices bowling alone on a dry
patch of land with pruned branches as
stumps.
His only aim is to
strike the stumps.
His sister Khadija convinces Guruji ( a former
captain of the Indian Cricket Team) of the Kolipad
Cricket Academy to enroll him. Due to some
politics in the Academy finally takes over and Iqbal
is thrown out.
While tending his buffaloes, he would stop and
watch youngsters being trained by the renowned
Guruji.
Now Iqbal learns the most important lesson the difference when a batsman stands between himself and
the wicket.
The disappointment lasts only for a while, till
he finds out that the village drunkard Mohit
who had been a fast bowler for the state
team but never could make it to the national
team. While Mohit is happy drowning his
frustrations in the bottle and leading an
anonymous life
Iqbal persuades Mohit to be his coach. They are
able to train in a nearby field, using Iqbal's
buffaloes (named after actual members of the
Indian cricket team) as fielders.
When the heart begins to think like the head...
that's when real success is achieved," says
Mohit…..
Mohit trains Iqbal and gets him a
place on the Andhrapradesh Ranji
Trophy team despite Iqbal not
having any previous cricketing
experience.
Iqbal plays marvelously for the team,
which was a weak team before he
joined, and is soon noticed by the
press and cricket selectors alike.
Guruji tries to bribe Iqbal to bowl badly
so that the national team scouts at the
game would select Kamal for the
national cricket team. He succumbs to
this offer out of concern for his father,
who is facing financial difficulties
Luckily, a sports agent is able to offer him a
better deal, and Iqbal bowls with his usual
fiery pace and wins the match for his team.
He also impresses the onlooking
national team selector Kapil Dev and
wins a place in the Indian national
cricket team.
Finally his dream comes true by playing for the Indian Cricket Team
It's a story that leaves you inspired and shows the power of the human mind

Iqbal movie review

  • 2. IQBAL is a story of an 18 year old boy from village who is deaf and dumb and whose only ambition in life is to play for Indian Cricket Team and become best fast bowler. But his mother Saida and sister Khadija supports and encourages him to play cricket.. He is born to a lower middle class farmer Anwar Khan. He is discouraged by his father who thinks that Iqbal's daydreams are a waste of time. Instead, he wants Iqbal to help him tend to the crops and become a farmer like him, which would be a stable profession.
  • 3. Iqbal practices bowling alone on a dry patch of land with pruned branches as stumps. His only aim is to strike the stumps.
  • 4. His sister Khadija convinces Guruji ( a former captain of the Indian Cricket Team) of the Kolipad Cricket Academy to enroll him. Due to some politics in the Academy finally takes over and Iqbal is thrown out. While tending his buffaloes, he would stop and watch youngsters being trained by the renowned Guruji. Now Iqbal learns the most important lesson the difference when a batsman stands between himself and the wicket.
  • 5. The disappointment lasts only for a while, till he finds out that the village drunkard Mohit who had been a fast bowler for the state team but never could make it to the national team. While Mohit is happy drowning his frustrations in the bottle and leading an anonymous life Iqbal persuades Mohit to be his coach. They are able to train in a nearby field, using Iqbal's buffaloes (named after actual members of the Indian cricket team) as fielders. When the heart begins to think like the head... that's when real success is achieved," says Mohit…..
  • 6. Mohit trains Iqbal and gets him a place on the Andhrapradesh Ranji Trophy team despite Iqbal not having any previous cricketing experience. Iqbal plays marvelously for the team, which was a weak team before he joined, and is soon noticed by the press and cricket selectors alike.
  • 7. Guruji tries to bribe Iqbal to bowl badly so that the national team scouts at the game would select Kamal for the national cricket team. He succumbs to this offer out of concern for his father, who is facing financial difficulties Luckily, a sports agent is able to offer him a better deal, and Iqbal bowls with his usual fiery pace and wins the match for his team. He also impresses the onlooking national team selector Kapil Dev and wins a place in the Indian national cricket team.
