WEATHER INSTRUMENTS
Thermometer
• Measures temperature in degrees
Celcius or degrees Fahrenheit.
• For weather temperatures you can
make a rough conversion from
Celsius to Fahrenheit by doubling the
figure and adding 30.
Rain Gauge
• Measures the amount of
precipitation that has fallen in
the area.
WEATHER INSTRUMENTS
Anemometer
• Calculates the wind speed in
kilometers /miles an hour.
Barometer
• Measures air pressure in units
called millibars.
Weather Vane
• Shows the direction of the
wind.
Meteorologist
• More than just images of clouds,
meteorologists compare
temperature readings, winds,
atmospheric pressure,
precipitation patterns, and other
variables to form an accurate
picture of our climate. From past
readings, meteorologists are able
to draw conclusions and make
predictions about how our
climate will translate into local
weather every day
