Regulatory Information And Managing Component Level...
Regulatory information includes publishing and managing component level information within dossier
spanning all formats like electronic Common Technical Document (eCTD), Non eCTD electronic
Submissions (NeeS) and paper etc., across diverse pharmaceutical markets. It also includes archival of
data / documents with appropriate modification history for audit purposes. Tracking of global
submission status with different health authorities and managing modification in those documents in
close co ordination with local representatives are key challenges that pharmaceutical industry is
potentially facing in a regulatory information management system. The continuous shift from paper
submissions to electronic submissions (e submission) in recent years has been accompanied by
corresponding business processes modifications. For life science pharmaceuticals, the challenge lies
not only in developing an innovative drug / biological product or medical device but in bearing the
competition to pharmaceutical market. It is not enough to spend millions and trillions in product
development, it is equally critical to be the first to launch the drug in the market compliance matters
the purview of the regulatory affairs team. In wake of intense competition in the global pharmaceutical
market, life science companies are increasingly relying on regulatory document publishing software to
support their compliance efforts. This competition actually started trending in regulatory publishing

The Planet Of Planet Mercury
Introduction
The planet Mercury is very difficult to study from the Earth because of its proximity to the Sun.
It is the second smallest planet (it was believed to be the smallest until the discovery that Pluto is
actually much smaller than originally thought), and also the fastest in its orbit since it is the innermost
planet.
Solar System Records
Highest uncompressed density.
Highest diurnal variation in temperature.
Only Solar System object with a 3:2 spin orbit resonance. it rotates on its axis exactly three times for
every two revolutions it makes around the Sun
Geological history ended the earliest among terrestrial planets.
Smallest planet with global magnetic field.
Most Earth like magnetosphere.
Name
Named after the Roman messenger god who was known for his ability to travel quickly with wings on
his feet. Mercury travels in orbit the shortest time of all planets
Distance From The Sun
Mercury is located 57, 910, 000km (0.38AU) from the Sun.
Mercury is the inner most planet in our solar system.
Orbit
The orbit of Mercury is the most eccentric of the planets in the solar system.
At perihelion it is 46,001,200km from the Sun
At aphelion it is 69,816,200km from the Sun
A difference of 23,815,700km giving it an eccentricity of 0.21
Orbit
Mercury is the only object Solar System with a 3:2 spin orbit resonance. This means it rotates on its
axis exactly three times for every two revolutions it makes around the Sun
The length of a day on Mercury 58.63 Earth days.

This law is written as:
A=abc (3)
Where a is the molar absorptivity, b is the path length and c is the concentration of the analyte.
Spectrophotmetry is not only confined within the boundaries of chemistry. Its principles have several
applications in different branches of science. In biochemistry, it can be used to determine enzyme
catalyzed reactions, whereas in clinical application, it is used to examine blood and tissues. This
quantitative method of analysis can also be used in engineering, physics,etc.[2]
METHODOLOGY
The experiment was initially done by preparing standard solutions of different volumes of Cu(II) stock
solution of known concentration including a blank solution composed of ammonia and water. Each
volume of the solution was placed in volumetric flasks, and in each flask, same amount of
concentrated NH3 was added. The same procedures were also done in the preparation of the diluted
unknown Cu(II) solution. Addition of ammonia caused the formation of deeper blue copper ammonia
complex which allowed the spectrophotometer to detect the solution easily due to increase in its
absorbance. The formation of the complex is shown by the following chemical reaction:
Cu2+ + 4NH3 [Cu(NH3)4]2+ (4)
A deficiency in ammonia in the solution would cause the copper ammonia complex to turn into its
hydrated form which would eventually alter the accuracy of the data obtained because of its

Creative Arts Therapy
Creative arts therapy uses the fine arts to help people communicate their feelings and thoughts that
they have a hard time expressing. Creative arts therapy helps assist mood by helping with anxiety and
depression. There is also a connection between creativity and mental illness, lots of well known artists
who were creative struggled with mental illnesses. There are also lots of qualifications to become a
creative arts therapist for example, you must have a background of a fine art such as drama, music, art,
and dance. Your thesis should go here... The way creative arts therapy has helped assist mood is by
teaching people how to deal with daily life. People on the autism spectrum are more attracted to
music. Music therapy can help them develop their social skills and how to say their needs because
music is a different side of the brain than communication. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

therapists may work with a variety of people. They can work with children who need support and
counseling, people that are in homeless shelters, and prisoners in a correctional facility. A prisoner

How To Raise The Space Shuttle
For years, scientists had been trying to create a reusable spacecraft that could carry supplies to the
space station and do other tasks that would be easier with a reusable spacecraft. The Space Shuttle
lifted off into space for the first time on April 12, 1981, and for the last time on July 8, 2011. It would
glide to a landing on a runway facing horizontally and be launched with a rocket attached to get it up
into space.
Five Space Shuttles were built. They were called Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, Columbia, and
Endeavour. These shuttles were used to fly cargo and people to the ISS or International Space Station.
It was also used to launch the Hubble Space Telescope, which was well known for discovering many
things.

All seven crew members died. The accident investigation board figured out that, during the launch of
the shuttle, a piece of insulating foam had torn from the external tank and struck the orbiter s left
wing, weakening its thermal protection ability. When the orbiter later reentered the atmosphere, it was
unable to withstand the superheated air, which penetrated the wing and destroyed it, leading to the
vehicle s breakup. These two horrible accidents were part of the reason that NASA canceled the Space
Shuttle program.
On July 8, 2011, Space Shuttle Atlantis flew its last mission. The program was put to a stop because of
safety reasons and new technology that could be used instead of the old stuff. NASA still launches
some things but other companies such as SpaceX have been used instead to launch satellites.
The Space Shuttle has been used for many missions ranging from restocking the ISS to launching the
Hubble Space Telescope. It takes off using solid rocket boosters and lands on a runway. After being
decommissioned in 2011, the Space Shuttles can be found in several museums across the United

All American Pipeline
ALL AMERICAN PIPELINE CASE WRITE UP
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The business nature of the project pipelines affected many of our assumptions and approaches to our
calculations for our ultimate decision. The case provided two sets of cost estimates from an outside
consultant and from Goodyear after hiring a general contractor. We utilized both sets of costs that
directed us to the same decision that Goodyear should not go ahead with the Pipeline Project.
Once we obtained the UFCF, the terminal value was calculated in three different ways, treating the
pipeline as an asset on our books, finding the value of project if cash flows are received for perpetuity
an finding the annuity value of cash flows for 30 years by assuming that after 1992 cash ... Show more

We made projections and calculations using estimates of Goodyear s contractors as well as did a
sensitivity test using the data of outside consultants, and the negative NPVs of both the projects
showed that Goodyear should not go ahead with the project.
ASSUMPTIONS
Working Capital:
In the CF statement given, no separate values for working capital accounts are given so the
calculations are done assuming working capital to be 0.
Contingency:
We disregarded contingency. We did not treat it as a cash component of working capital or as a
capitalized expense because it was unclear in the case if the contingency was ever spent.
Growth:
We assume that the revenues from pipelines grow at the rate of inflation which is 5%, after reaching
capacity.
Tax credit:
We assume that Goodyear benefits from tax credits from this project and therefore the benefit is added
to the cash flows.
For calculating terminal value:
Using the Asset Method
The Depreciable PPE calculated for North American Pipeline was sum of total cap ex in 1985 and
1986 excluding the land and right of way, contingency fund. 50% of Investment tax credit was not
subtracted from the value of depreciable PPE because it does not affect the value of assets. This is
unlike the calculation done for tax purpose, as shown in Exhibit 8.
As mentioned in the case, PPE is depreciated on a straight line method for 30 years, for calculating the
remaining asset worth.
Value of land is added to the

How Management Information System Professionals Interact...
DISCIPLINE INVESTIGATION ASSIGNMENT
INTRODUCTION
The Discipline Investigation paper enables students to gain knowledge about the work they will be
doing when they enter their careers, particularly how they will be using the language. I am very keen
on writing this paper because it will help me to find out how Management Information System
professionals interact in a company on daily basis. My audiences for this paper are my professor,
classmates, and other faculty members on the LLD 100A portfolio group. A discourse community is a
group of people who share the same interest, career, or other commonality. Since I am majoring in
Business Administration and concentrating in Management Information Systems (MIS), I am excited
to join the MIS discourse community to develop my career. MIS professionals provide information
about a company s daily business relating to transactions meanwhile also look over systems. Potential
careers can be Business Analyst, Database Administrator, or Systems Administrator. One of the most
important jobs an MIS major can do is Project Manager. A Project Manager s role in IT is to look at
projects and plans and organize this information for a potential client. I believe I can expand my career
opportunities by learning how to use MIS jargon in the appropriate way. My dream is to become a
Developer. In the last four years, I have gained communication experience by working as a Sales

Upton Sinclair Dbq
Who was Upton Sinclair is a question that is easily answered. Upton Sinclair was one in the group of
American writers known as the muckrakers. Sinclair along with Ida Tarbell, Lincoln Steffens, and Ray
Stannard Baker exposed scandal and corruption during the 20th century in hopes to right the injustices
in the world and create a better place for everyone to live. Upton Sinclair is known as one of the most
influential writers of his time due to his insuppressible ambition for equality, financial freedom, and
truth. His strong desires led him to be a prominent Socialist that revealed the unfair working
conditions in packing houses that eventually led to the Pure Food and Drug Act as well as the Meat
Inspection Act. On September 20, 1870 Upton Sinclair was born to an alcoholic father ... Show more

Roosevelt assigned the Labor Commissioner Charles P Neill and social worker James Branson
Reynolds to travel to Chicago and see if the novel correctly portrayed the conditions of the meat
packing plants. While some of the more extreme things from the novel were not present, the condition
of the plants shocked Neill and Reynolds. With the public wanting the government to take action,
Congress was able to pass two Acts; the Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection Act. These
Acts prohibited foreign and interstate businesses to contaminate or falsely label food and drugs while
also regulating the inspection of the slaughtering and processing of animals sold for human
consumption. Sinclair s book The Jungle made him one of America s most influential authors. Not
only was he an author, he was a socialist. He believed that Socilaism would cure all of society s
troubles. With $30,000 of his book royalties he established a utopian community to prove that
cooperative living was a successful way to live. In 1916, Sinclair moved to California where he
continued to write, but also became very involved in politics. He ran twice for

Frumherj Essay
Frumherj is a car inspection company in Iceland. They are one of the largest in the country, but they
want to continue to grow and to outpace their competitors. However, there are some inefficiencies in
their process that must be addressed before they can meet their goals. One of their first problems is
maintaining an even flow in their process environment. Due to the nature of the inspections and the
cold weather in Iceland, they are much more busy in the summer that they are in the winter. This
makes it difficult to keep the right amount of employees. There is little they can do to avoid this
problem, but rather they should examine their historical data to determine how many employees they

If the company can make every base take the same amount of time, they will experience less delays as
less cars are stopped waiting for the next base to open up. There is very little correlation between the
KPIs and the process map. They KPIs are focused on measurements such as market share, customer
satisfaction surveys, and comparisons to competitor s prices. None of the KPIs focus specifically on
improving the process so there are no practical, actionable items that the employees can focus on.
Without the employees being able to see how they fit in the plan to increase the company s
performance, they can t possibly begin to innovate new ways to improve the process. Management by
means seeks to find each individuals place within the system and to continuously improve the system.
In MBM systems the employees help the management improve by offering design improvements, and
the managers, in turn, use this information to optimize the system. The problem is not that the
company doesn t have admirable goals, but rather their process isn t capable of producing the desired
results. The goals and KPIs are bold and admirable, but they are not relatable to the process that will
ultimately determine their outcome. The system will produce what it produces; you can t get more out
of a system than it is capable of making. Without

Alexis De Tocqueville Analysis
Another comparison and contrast between Charles Dickens, Alexis De Tocqueville, and Fanny
Trollope is how they managed and experienced life within the newly found Americas. Charles
Dickens, Alexis De Tocqueville, and Fanny Trollope traveled to the United States to experience what
America had to offer and they all experienced something different and new. America is well known for
its immigrants and migration to America, this dates all the way back to the 1820 s throughout the
Nineteenth Century. Alexis De Tocqueville and his traveling companion Beaumont traveled for nine
months by steamboat, by stagecoach, on horseback and in canoes, visiting America s penitentiaries

Israel Declaration Of Independence Argument Analysis
We ve so far established that It is no surprise that religion was a huge factor which triggered the
creation of Israel but some individuals use the Israel Declaration of Independence to put forward the
argument that Israel may be a Jewish state in a cultural sense, but at least no more so than America can
be called a Christian state. (Bird, 2014). Theoretically this argue seems valid because the Israeli
Declaration of Independence defines the state as granting equality of social and political rights,
irrespective of religion, race or sex (Nawaz, 2009). Yet what these individuals are failing to
acknowledge is no Israeli leadership has or is abiding by these norms and the only people who really

Anzia Yezierska s novel Bread Givers and Assimilation of Jews
An entire chapter of Eric Liu s memoir, The Accidental Asian, is founded on the supposition that Jews
today serve as a metaphor for assimilation into American culture. According to Liu, this is due to the
ease with which Jews have been able to assimilate. However, the progress that Jews have made in
embracing and affecting America has been gradual rather than instantaneous, as evidenced by the
character Sara Smolensky in Anzia Yezierska s novel Bread Givers. Sara is not the symbol of an
assimilated Jew, but instead represents a period of transition between complete assimilation into
American identity and complete dissimilation from her Jewish and Polish heritage, ... Show more

Sara s willing dedication to her American identity, as represented by her clothing, is contrasted with
the blood relationship she has with her mother, and by extension her actions separate her from her
entire ancestry and ethnicity. Denounced for her refusal to comply with the traditions of her culture,
and disdainfully called an Americanerin, Sara experiences the social death that Sollors describes, a
result of her cultural relationships having become mutually antagonistic (xx). In this scene she
temporarily ceases to be Jewish and becomes to her people and to her family merely a female
American. This schism is paralleled by a more subtle contrast at the conclusion of the same chapter
that should be noted, when Sara hears the poverty stricken cries that Charity saves you from death
(256)! This statement of course cannot be literally true, but displays a further contrast between the
voluntary and the natural on a more literal level: voluntary generosity versus natural inevitable death.
Sara is further distanced from her ethnicity through her resistance to the patriarchal doctrines of
Judaism that are followed by her family. Sexually biased Judaism is represented by her father and his
frequent citations of the Torah to justify such a position. When Sara refuses to marry the wealthy Max
Goldstein, her father tells her that the Torah says What s a woman without a man? Less than nothing a
blotted out existence. No life on earth and no

Analysis Of The Book The First Thing
The first thing I noticed that was unique about the way the book was written was that the entire novel
takes place in just a single day. Woolf gives the reader so many details, seemingly ordinary ones such
as Clarissa going to buy flowers for her party, mending her dress, meeting old acquaintances, etc.
However, these everyday interactions (combined with the character s inner thoughts) create a very
clear and complex image of social class, the perception of time, loneliness/being alone (not physically,
but mentally because of self repression), and lastly, the devastating effects of war (as shown by
Septimus s mental condition).
From early on in the book, the reader can tell that social class is a very big part of British society.

She even admits that her and Miss. Kilman may have gotten along, but not in this world . Proving just
how important social class is.
Yet, while Clarissa follows the heavy class based system of British society, she also finds herself
limited by it. Forcing her to alter her identity to play the expected part in society and maintain her
social status/class. She admires Sally, and how she would voice her opinions and do things her own
way no matter what anyone else thought of her, in a way she envies her for having the freedom she
never had. There is a big gap between what Clarissa thinks and what she does/how she allows people
to perceive her. Even mentally stifling her own ideas that do not fit into the role she is attempting to
play. This leads directly into her feelings of loneliness because while she interacts with a lot of people
and is married, there is a distance between her true self and everyone else. Throughout the book, the
reader is given insight to how each character perceives another vs. what they actually say out loud, if
they say anything at all. This gives the reader the ability to see this distance between everyone, even
Clarissa s own husband is unable to tell her that he loves her, yet he really does love her on the inside.
There are several other forms of repression, such as

Netflix Case Essay
Case 6 Netflix s Business Model and Strategy in Renting Movies and TV Episodes
1. How strong are the competitive forces in the movie rental marketplace? Do a five force analysis to
support your answer.
Currently the competitive forces in the movie rental marketplace are not very strong. There are not
very many players seeking to gain share in the market. The only competitors that come to mind when
thinking of the movie rental marketplace are Netflix, Blockbuster and Red box. The evolution of
technology has allowed many people to stream movies from online at no charge, for most and without

Although there is not much competition in this market, consumers always have alternate methods of
receiving the same services and more than likely the same quality of services elsewhere. Whether it is
choosing to stream videos online, watching them via Pay per View or On Demand it is truly a buyer s
market considering the services rendered aren t considered necessities.
V. Barriers to Entry
It appears that Netflix has control over the vast majority of the movie rental business. Consumers are
renting less than they used to and the convenience that Netflix incorporates into its service, such as
online streaming and mail orders eliminates other competitors from considering entering the movie
rental business.
2. What forces are driving changes in the movie rental industry? Are the combined impacts of these
driving forces likely to be favorable or unfavorable in term of their effects on competitive intensity
and future industry profitability?
The forces driving change in the movie rental industry are as follows:
the economy
cheaper and more convenient alternatives such as cable/ satellite providers offering recordings via
DVR, cell phones, tablets and other electronic devices
Vast changes in technology.
The forces that are driving change are more than likely going to be unfavorable to the movie rental
industry considering the convenience and included perks of choosing them. I ve had experience in the

Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome
INTRODUCTION
Median Arcuate Ligament Symdrome (MAL) is a very rare condition also knows as celiac axis
compression syndrome (CACS) or Dunbar syndrome. This syndrome has a characteristic triad of
postprandial abdominal pain, abdominal bruit and weight loss. Others symptoms that are commonly
described are nausea and vomiting 1,2 .
As these symptoms are not specific and at the same time overlap with a broad of others conditions, the
diagnosis is often made by exclusion. By the overlap of symptoms and its characteristics, among the
most common diagnoses given to patients with this disease are intestinal ischemia and functional
gastrointestinal disorder (FGID) 1, 3.
The first description of this syndrome was made by Harjola in 1963, but in ... Show more content on

Other cause that has been proposed for extrinsic compression of the celiac artery is the enlargement of
the celiac ganglionar plexus and low insertion of the ligament by itself 5,8.
Another theory is a sympathetic overstimulation on the celiac artery that can cause a vasoconstriction
of the trunk. A steeling phenomenon has been also reported, in which the blood celiac artery is derived
to the superior mesenteric artery, causing an ischemic pain 2,5.
As it was referred before, the prevalence of MAL is calculated to be 10 24%, but the most of the cases
remain asymptomatic. This variation in the presentation can be due to a more extensive collateral
blood supply from the superior or inferior mesenteric arteries 6,7.
The clinical presentation can be vary variable, but the common symptoms are postprandial abdominal
pain (80% of patients) and weight loss of 20 pounds (48% of patients). others symptoms are nausea,
vomiting and diarrhea. At the physical examination an epigastric bruit, can be found, but it is reported
only in 35% of cases. This bruit can change with respiration, been more intensive in expiration

The Robber Bridegroom Analysis
These inconsistencies and contradictions has not only broken the belief that non fiction meant true
(Atwood, In Search 1513), problematizing the absolute authority and authenticity of historical
materials, and therefore the primitivity and purity of the authoritative discourse achieved by these
official materials, but also left Atwood a gap to fill in the light of her own need to empower the other
being in the marginal and invisible position of the power relationship to speak. By way of
reconstructing the literary canon, Atwood in The Robber Bride also satisfies this need. Joe Weixlmann
once pointed out the fact of literary canon that the vast majority of the writers canonized in this
country are white males of European decent, coupled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, in the novel, while listening to the story of The Robber Bridegroom, Liz s twin

less, inevitably, complies with what the higher class demand in morals in keeping with the Protestant
ethic and a patriarchal notion of sex roles in attempt to educate children and appeal to the morals and
virtues of middle class readers (Jack Zipes,ⅹⅹⅵ). Though it appears a hero such as the Miller s
daughter defeating the vicious man in its ending, which seems to reverse the sex role of that time,
however, in fact, female characters cannot escape their presupposed images at all women are

those virtues and morals of female imposed by the patriarchal

leading cause of disease in countries like America and an even larger complication in undeveloped
countries where healthcare is a difficult situation to tackle.

They are usually found in pairs of cocci, or diplococci. Sometimes they appear in chains or in singles.
They are non motile organisms meaning they re unable to swim or move on their own. There are over
ninety different serotype of streptococcus pneumoniae which causes great difficulty when trying to
develop a vaccine for this bacterium. If streptococcus is allowed to persist in the lungs it can invade
the blood, which causes bacteremia. When in the blood it can cross the blood brain barrier and infect
the meninges, which could result in meningitis, sinusitis, and middle ear infection. Streptococcus

key role in it virulence. Streptococcus pneumoniae contains more than 500 different surface proteins.
Streptococcus lacks the catalyst and ferments glucose to lactic acid, like most streptococci.
Streptococcus pneumoniae gets a significant amount of its carbon and nitrogen through extracellular

Introduced Mammals
Bovidae, Suidae and Equidae
The introduced Bovidae, Suidae and Equidae families members found at Currawinya National Park
are Bos Taurus, Capra hircus, Sus scrofa and Equus caballus (Queensland Government (c), 2017). Or
more commonly European cattle, goats, pigs and horses.
Habitat requirements
The Bovidae, Suidae and Equidae members found in the park have the capability to adapt to a wide
range of habitats. Each family being able to occupy temperate terrestrial habitats such as savanna,
grassland, forest and many more (Clement; Mileski).
Feeding requirements
The Bovidae and Equidae are herbivores feeding on primarily leaves, stem, bark, nuts and grains

Vulpes vulpes lives in a varied habitat ranging from desert to forest to human populated areas (L.Fox).
Feeding requirements
Similar to habitat requirements, the feeding requirements of Felis Catus and Oryctolagus cuniculus
differ fairly significantly being carnivorous, consuming terrestrial vertebrates such as birds and insects
and herbivorous consuming leaves, tubers, seeds, fruit and flowers respectively (Tislerics; Birch).
Again like the habitat requirements Vulpes vulpes falls in the middle being an omnivore consuming a
diet including birds, mammals, reptiles and fruit (L.Fox).
Influences
Vulpes vuples and felis catus are two of the most prominent predators with in Currawinya National
Park, predating on families such as the Dasyuridae, Muridae, Tachyglossidae and Thylacomyidae (The
IUCN Red List of Threatened Species , 2017 ; Burbidge Woinarski, 2016).
Influences at Currawinya National Park
For many of the families present at Currawinya National Park, habitat degradation is one of the main
influences on their survival across the country, while much of the habitat degradation in the park is
natural ware away and break down, some is due to high visitor usage of particular areas (Queensland
Government , 2001). However it is important to note that any degraded sites across the park such as
possible erosion, area disturbances or washouts are rehabilitated to allow

Was Rome Successful
Ancient Rome
The Roman Empire was one of the greatest, and well rounded civilization in ancient times. What made
them so great was their knowledge that they received from the Greeks and their ability to grow from
what they learned. The Romans did not start off with a dictator, they had elected people to power. In
the early years of the republic of Rome, this allowed them to grow. Starting off in the middle of Italy
and eventually conquering all territories around the Mediterranean Sea. There are several factors that
made Rome great, and their stability and longevity as a power house is worth talking about When
talking about the Roman Empire and what made them great, it s important to talk about the Roman
army. The Roman army was a very ferocious army, and that had much to do with their training regime.
One had to be very fit in order to go through the harsh training, and honestly, failure was no option
considering there would be punishments dealt out for failure. The new recruits would support the front
line of the army. By putting the new recruits at the front of the line. This stopped them from fleeing,
and also gave them confidence knowing that there are battle tested soldiers behind them. The romans

Symbolism In A Long Way Gone
In A Long Way Gone Ishmael uses flashbacks, symbolism, and nature motifs to illustrate the loss of
his innocence. Beah s memoir shows how he and all the other boy soldiers lost their childhood when
they became a solider. At the age of 13 was the end of his childhood where he believes his childhood
ended. Through the whole book he tries to use his memories as comfort and a reminder that he is still
a child no matter the situation. In his memoir, Ishmael said, I put my hands behind my head and lay on
my back, trying to hold on to the memories of my family. Their faces seemed to be far off somewhere
in my mind, and to get to them I had to bring up painful memories (71). As a child who misses their
family Beah spends his time thinking about this family and how he wishes he was with them. He at
this moment remembers the little things that people do not realize take for granted. He also says,

In the Italian tale The Happy Man s Shirt the theme happens to be happiness is the perspective of life

4 Styles Of Humor Style
Humor is often considered as a powerful weapon, although it should be used with caution. There is
appropriate humor which dissipates tension; and inappropriate humor which provokes tension (Meeus
and Mahieu, 2009). A humor style is defined as the type of humor an individual typically practices
when interacting with others (Preeus and Sweeny, 2013). Martin et al. (2003) proposed a model of
humor styles comprising of four different styles of humor which are independent of each other. These
humor styles are based on whether humor is: used to enhance either the self or others, and adaptive
versus maladaptive for the self or others THE TWO ADAPTIVE STYLES OF HUMOR ARE: 1.

The maladaptive humor which is directed towards one s self in order to gain the approval of others is
referred to as self defeating humor. It involves attempts to amuse others at one s own expense by using
humor in a self disparaging way i. e. excessively critical and ridiculing of one s self. Individuals with
this humor style often allow themselves to be the butt of jokes, and laugh along when they are
disparaged by others, in the hopes of gaining others approval and acceptance. This humor style is used
to enhance relationships with others, but at the expense of positive feelings about self. It also involves
the use of humor as a form of defensive denial, to hide one s underlying negative feelings or avoid
dealing constructively with problems (Martin et. al., 2003, Martin, 2007). According to Yerlikaya
(2007), this humor style is used by an individual without considering the humor and his/her own
needs. An example which typifies this humor style is when an individual behaves happy and defies
his/her own feelings when

Female Sex Offenders Essay
As with any criminal whether being released from their first offense or being a veteran to the system,
each runs the risk of becoming repeat offender with a new crime they have never committed or going
back to their comfort zone crime. Regarding female sex offenders they also run the risk of becoming
repeat offender to a sex crime or a non related sex crime. Female offenders with higher number of
victims or higher amounts of non relating crimes are in risk of recidivism at a higher rate. According
to Witt Pirelli (2016) several risk factors for sex offending to consider with female sexual offenders
are as follow:
Prior felony offenses
Prior drug offenses
Prior non sexual child victim offenses
Also, female sex offenders recidivism rate is much lower for all types of crime than compare with
male sex offenders, with a low rate between 1 % to 1.28% for a sexual crime. (p. 40) Taking into
consideration that female sex offenders frequently don t become repeat criminal offenders as much as
male offenders, is it fair to speculate that punishment for female sex offenders is lenient.
This speculation is possibly due since female sex offenders are viewed as nurturers or law
enforcement/courts don t place as much importance. According to Sandler Freeman (2011), one theory

Punishment And The Criminal Justice System
If we accept that punishment is justified in certain circumstances, then, ideally, it should only be
incurred by individuals whose actions warrant punishment. I think, at least amongst civilised society,
this opinion cannot be disputed. The difficult question is not whether punishment should be deserved,
but when punishment should be deserved. The quotation above suggests that in order to be worthy of
punishment, the defendant must have consciously chosen to have committed the wrong of which he or
she stands accused. However, as the UK criminal justice system demonstrates, strict compliance with
this principle is often impractical. This essay will investigate the legislation that seems to challenge
the conscious choice principle, before considering whether or not this legislation compromises the
value of the criminal justice system.
Before we contemplate the types of behaviour that deserve punishment, it is essential that we
understand why deserved punishment is a fundamental premise of the criminal justice system. In order
to do this, we will need to consider the different justifications for punishment. As Wilson considers,
theories of punishment have historically fallen into one of two categories ; they can be identified as
either a retributive theory or a utilitarian (consequentialist) theory.[1] Retributive theories suggest that
punishment can only be justified if the punishment itself has some inherent moral value; it cannot be
made right by its positive

Present Day Spain Research Paper
In the 1400s, what is now known as present day Spain, was quite different from how it is today. The
land was divided into three kingdoms: Castile, Aragon and Portugal. The region had a variety of
religions and cultures such as Islam, Christianity, and Catholicism. (Walbert) This time period was
when the Reconquista occurred, also known as Spain s Golden Age. Isabella and Ferdinand played a
major role in the Reconquista. They transformed most of what is now present day Spain and spread
the Catholic religion throughout Europe. Isabella and Ferdinand are considered two of the most
influential Spanish Monarchs in history.

The Conquest of Granada, in 1492, is one of the most well known conquests by the Spanish
Monarchs. It took place over a course of ten years but it resulted in the addition of Granada to the
Spanish territory. Granada s ruler at that time, a young man by the name of Boabdil, was the key to the
conquest. (The Conquest of Granada) He was easily overtaken by the Christian troops because his
kingdom was in a civil war, rebelling
against him. The conquest ended in the downfall of Granada due to a siege and Spain was victorious
in the action. January 2 is a day of celebration in the city to this day and the people are taught of the
city s heritage and history.
The year 1942 was an eventful year. Along with the conquering of Granada, Isabella and

obtained in the new land, and these rights would be passed on in the family.

When the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Singapore came under the scrutiny of the nation back
in the July of 2005, it was evident that there was going to be major changes in the local social welfare
scene.
As a non profit charitable organisation, the main aim of NKF was not only to look after the needs of
its patients but encompassed drawing resources from society and moving towards changing and
improving society as a whole.

NKF s management might seem to not have taken donors opinions into consideration and hence
portrayed the image of mismanaging donations. However, it would be unfair to not point out how not
all stakeholders are equal and each is entitled to different considerations. Expectations differ across
stakeholders and decisions made would more often than not lead to a conflict of interest but following
the principle of utilitarianism, it is up to the discretion of the organisation to balance their decisions
and decide how best to appease the majority. An example would be NKF s dilemma of whether to
disclose the salary of the CEO; not doing so would result in accusations of not being transparent while
disclosing it might lead to criticism of charity leaders being too highly paid. The interests of the CEO
and the donors are at conflict.
Alternative Theoretical Perspectives
Having received the National Youth Excellence Award in 1976 and practiced as a lawyer for 6 years2,
Durai could be seen as a leader with strong self efficacy and self esteem. He valued new challenges
more than conformity and challenged society s perspective of managing a charity. His refreshing
approaches to branding and fund raising led to staff costs incurred by the many fund raising activities
to be higher than that of staff cost for dialysis treatment, which was not on the same page as what
external stakeholders (donors and society) would expect from a charity.

7. *Given the added political and economic risks that appear to exist overseas, are MNCs more or less

MNCs are likely to be less risky than purely domestic firms because much of the risk faced overseas is
diversifiable.
International monetary systems
1. (ESM14, ch2 q1) Under the gold standard all national governments promised to follow the rules of
the game. This meant defending a fixed exchange rate. What did this promise imply about a country s

Money supply was limited to the amount of gold held by a country s central bank. Any change in its
holdings of gold needed to be matched by a change in the number of local currency units outstanding.
2. (ESM14, ch2 q5) What are the advantages and disadvantages of the fixed exchange rate regime?

It provides stability in international prices for trading which reduces risk.

The Oppression Of Women In Today s Western Culture
There have been many unspoken agreements made in the past 250 or so years of western culture.
There s an understanding in our community that some things just are because they are, especially
when it concerns gender. In America, men don t wear makeup or dresses. Girls aren t supposed to be
doctors, athletes, or CEOs. And in western culture, it s the simple truth that the only genders that exist
are boy, and girl. There s basis behind some of it, but one of the only reasons that it s western

Some other problems that our researchers could encounter while going through this experiment could

Oliver Twist
Have you ever thought about how it would be to live in a time of poverty? How would life be if you
were poor and did not know from where you would be getting your next meal? What would it be like
to be forced to live in a workhouse? These are some of the questions you might ask yourself if you
were living in early nineteenth century
England. Dickens addresses these issues in his timeless masterpiece Oliver Twist. In the story of
Oliver Twist, Dickens uses past experiences from his childhood and targets the Poor Law of 1834
which renewed the importance of the workhouse as a means of relief for the poor.

Charles Dickens was born in Landport, Portsea, on February 7, 1812. He was the second son of John
Dickens. John Dickens was a clerk in the Navy pay office. His improvidence would eventually lead to
imprisonment in the Marshalsea, a debtor s prison for debt (Hardy 41). As a child Charles Dickens
explored London and the fascination that he felt for this booming city remained with him throughout
his life (Rooke 15). Dickens received his first instruction from his mother and later attended regular

American Culture and the Screen s Influence
During the 1920s, movies grew in popularity in the United States due to their affordability and

became an American staple and TV shows were more convenient than movies, seeing as they could be

During the 1920s, the general public associated Hollywood with immorality. There were scandals like
William Desmond Taylor s and Virginia Rappe s murders. Although the two cases were not related,
many people correlated the two and other crimes within the industry. Despite this, many Americans
found themselves enraptured by the lives the actors led, the more dangerous, the more interesting.
Charlie Chaplin, a comedic actor and director, was stopped on the street constantly by rabid fans
begging for autographs. Now, most actors have or will have these issues once they reach a certain

the Second Red Scare. Actors were publicized so frequently and tended to be more liberal than the
average person, so they made easy targets for the CIA during this period. Some of the trials could be

The Slaves And Effects Of Slavery By Frederick Douglass
1. Slavery is an institution that repetitively separates family members and close friends from each
other, without any regard to those people. This aids in disrupting the heteronormative nuclear family
relationship greatly. Frederick Douglass said that My mother and I were separated when I was but an
infant... and that It is a common custom...to part children from their mothers at a very early age. (pg.
1). This showing that most children that were born into slavery would grow up having no relationship
at all with their own mothers. Also, a lot of slaves were born into slavery by the fact that children of
slave women shall in all cases follow the condition of their mothers, (pg. 2) and the slaveholder now
holds the title of father and master. With being torn from their mother at a young age and having your
own father be your master, completely takes away the chance of a child that is born into slavery from
having the normal nuclear family relationship.
2. The institution of slavery is something that can corrupt all parties involved or that around it. There
was no exception, men, women, children, and the slaves themselves could be subject to be corrupted
due to these horrific circumstances. Obviously the slave owners were the most corrupted with thinking
that this institution was morally right, but their children were taught at a young age that this treatment
to black people was fine. Douglass says that it was a very common saying even among the young
white boys

Essay On Fluoride
Fluoride (the thick fluid dentists put on your teeth that feels strange) was put in the water supply to
assist the growth and to have a healthy and beautiful set of teeth from childhood to adulthood, but
could that help be toxic?
Fluoride has been put into the public water supply to help babies. When you re older it helps with
resistance to enamel destroying acids, cavities, and other kinds of tooth decay as said by the American
Dental Association. Gradually Studies show that fluoride in community water systems prevents at
least 25 percent of tooth decay in children and adults... and Early studies, such as those conducted in
Grand Rapids, showed that water fluoridation reduced the amount of cavities children get in their baby
teeth by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For most cities, every $1 invested in water fluoridation saves $38 in dental treatment costs. Many
people opposing this view think of it as a harsh chemical but really it s naturally present in
groundwater and oceans. Even though we are adding more fluoride to the water, water fluoridation is
the adjustment of fluoride to a recommended level for preventing tooth decay. and fluoride is similar
to fortifying other foods and beverages, like fortifying salt with iodine, milk with vitamin D, orange
juice with calcium and bread with folic acid. People oppose water fluoridation because they think it is
an unsafe practice ...there is no dispute that fluoridation is causing millions of children to develop
dental fluorosis, a discoloration of the teeth that is caused by excessive fluoride intake. this may be
true, but that is if you consume much more than 2 liters of water a day.
Which that number is only ...over 5 percent of males between ages of nineteen and fifty consume at
least 5 liters of water a day...while 1 percent of females consume over 5.5 liters a day. in a total of
around probably 8 percent in total of the population of the 19 50 year old males

Analyzing John Steinbeck s The Pearl
Tiffany Duggins
Professor Hancock
English 111, Section #W 0
3, October 2014
Pearl Essay Literature, when done well, has always had the power to bring to life stories that in some
way mirror human tendencies. Throughout John Steinbeck s novella, The Pearl, he illustrates how
something as pure as the importance of family can be poisoned by greed and hate. From the
beginning, Steinbeck instills in his character, Kino, the importance of family. He does this by giving
him an inner symphony which often guides the character in observing what goes on around him. The
main song that continues to occupy Kino s mind is The Song of the Family as it is referred to. Even
when the Song of Evil tries to overwhelm Kino s thoughts, the lingering tune which ... Show more

While people seemed pleased for Kino, their good tidings were laced with dark intentions. Even the
priest made a visit in order to insure that the church would receive its share. Another instance is when
the doctor, whom hours before had rejected Kino s plea to save Coyotito s life, was suddenly there to
come to his aid. It is even suspected that the doctor intentionally made the baby sick in order to make
his services required. Kino could see the darkness in him but because he could not deny the doctor s
diagnosis, he promised him payment when the pearl was sold. Consequently, it was this very task that
brought out the greed in Kino s own heart. Everyone knew of Kino s great discovery, including the
pearl buyers who therefore planned to buy the pearl for the lowest price possible. They themselves
would receive no greater salary and yet they looked forward to cheating Kino. When presented with
an offer of 1,000 pesos he immediately turns them down knowing the pearl is worth way more. Kino
had determined in his mind what he should be given and refused to take anything less even if it meant
remaining in poverty for another day. Although no one could deny that the pearl was worth more, even
his neighbors, hoped that sudden wealth would not turn Kino s head, and slowly, graft onto him the
evil limbs of greed, (Steinbeck 43). As he

What Is The Topic Of The Play 12 Angry Men
Twelve Angry Men is a play filmed in New York City in 1957. It took place in a court law of jury
room where they were deliberating a murder trial. They were accusing a young boy of murdering his
father with a knife. They were several witnesses that claim that they heard and saw the murder and the
boy yelling I am going to kill you . However, the knife that the young boy claimed that he lost was
found in the murder. Twelve men were sent to be jurors to deliberate the trial. If the young boy was
found to be guilty than the sentence for the accused is the death penalty. The men decided to take a
break before making their decision and voting. After the break was over the men gathered together and
eleven of the jurors immediately vote guilty and

I Have An Assignment For You
I have an assignment for you that will be more challenging than pressing up into handstand or putting
both legs behind your head. In fact, you have to be a real yogi to accept. Are you ready? Here it is: Be
nice all day, from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep. Be kind and generous in
your thoughts, speech actions and feelings. If it sounds easy and you don t believe me, try giving it a
shot before you shrug it off.
Because in between traffic jams, travel delays, dirty dishes, barking dogs, screaming babies, bills to
pay, laundry piles and a thousand other things that line your to do list, it can be easy to get annoyed or
frustrated with the world around you. Take time to reflect on your day so far. If you snapped at anyone
... judged someone harshly (including yourself) ... honked your horn in frustration ... or harbored
negativity of any kind ... then you failed the test already. See? It s not as easy as it seems to be
genuinely nice all day in every way. In fact, it might just be impossible.
After more than fifteen years of a steady Ashtanga Yoga practice, I now measure my success in the
practice of yoga by how long I m able to keep my emotional center spacious enough to be genuinely
kind. Trust me, it s almost easy to get on the mat and bend and twist your body in comparison. And it
is much harder to maintain a kind and generous heart in the face of adversity and stress.
But the real yoga happens off the mat.
The purpose of every yoga pose is really to

How Did The Great Awakening Impact On Colonial Society
The movement of the Enlightenment period and the Great Awakening period had a profound impact
on American colonial society. As a result, the Enlightenment movement and the Great Awakening
movement challenged and changed religious, secular, and education ideologies that ushered in a new
era in American colonial society while giving birth to a social and religious renaissance in the
American colonies. The Enlightenment movement was a social movement that placed a highly
valuable emphasis on one s capacity for reasoning, and regarded it as the pinnacle of human success.
Significantly, the Enlightenment movement instigated both harmony and resistance amongst the
religious community; thus, giving rise to prominent religious leaders and spiritual thinkers who
espoused their views on the subject. Notably, the most famous Enlightenment thinkers were Benjamin
franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Paine. However, religious leaders such as Cotton Mayer,
John Winthrop, William Bradford, and Edward Johnson also espoused ideas on the centrality of God

The Great awakening inspired the growth of the church community branching off into sects to meet
the ever expanding colonial population; thus, increasing the number of churches in colonial america.
Likewise, paving the way for the emergence of lower churches such as the Baptist who sought to
overturn aristocratic rule. Also, this impacted the increased development of colleges to meet the
demand of having to train new ministers in the ministry. Additionally, the Great awakening made
allowances for Enlightenment idealism in conjunction with religion. Furthermore, the Great
Awakening was considered to be the precursor to the American Revolution as it severed its religious
ties to the Church of England; thus, a declination of religious authority and its long standing

  • 2. Regulatory Information And Managing Component Level... Regulatory information includes publishing and managing component level information within dossier spanning all formats like electronic Common Technical Document (eCTD), Non eCTD electronic Submissions (NeeS) and paper etc., across diverse pharmaceutical markets. It also includes archival of data / documents with appropriate modification history for audit purposes. Tracking of global submission status with different health authorities and managing modification in those documents in close co ordination with local representatives are key challenges that pharmaceutical industry is potentially facing in a regulatory information management system. The continuous shift from paper submissions to electronic submissions (e submission) in recent years has been accompanied by corresponding business processes modifications. For life science pharmaceuticals, the challenge lies not only in developing an innovative drug / biological product or medical device but in bearing the competition to pharmaceutical market. It is not enough to spend millions and trillions in product development, it is equally critical to be the first to launch the drug in the market compliance matters the purview of the regulatory affairs team. In wake of intense competition in the global pharmaceutical market, life science companies are increasingly relying on regulatory document publishing software to support their compliance efforts. This law is written as: A=abc (3) Where a is the molar absorptivity, b is the path length and c is the concentration of the analyte. Spectrophotmetry is not only confined within the boundaries of chemistry. Its principles have several applications in different branches of science. In biochemistry, it can be used to determine enzyme catalyzed reactions, whereas in clinical application, it is used to examine blood and tissues. This quantitative method of analysis can also be used in engineering, physics,etc.[2] METHODOLOGY The experiment was initially done by preparing standard solutions of different volumes of Cu(II) stock solution of known concentration including a blank solution composed of ammonia and water. Each volume of the solution was placed in volumetric flasks, and in each flask, same amount of concentrated NH3 was added. The same procedures were also done in the preparation of the diluted unknown Cu(II) solution. Addition of ammonia caused the formation of deeper blue copper ammonia complex which allowed the spectrophotometer to detect the solution easily due to increase in its absorbance. The formation of the complex is shown by the following chemical reaction: Cu2+ + 4NH3 [Cu(NH3)4]2+ (4) A deficiency in ammonia in the solution would cause the copper ammonia complex to turn into its hydrated form which would eventually alter the accuracy of the data obtained because of its

  • 7. How To Raise The Space Shuttle For years, scientists had been trying to create a reusable spacecraft that could carry supplies to the space station and do other tasks that would be easier with a reusable spacecraft. The Space Shuttle lifted off into space for the first time on April 12, 1981, and for the last time on July 8, 2011. It would glide to a landing on a runway facing horizontally and be launched with a rocket attached to get it up into space. Five Space Shuttles were built. They were called Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, Columbia, and Endeavour. These shuttles were used to fly cargo and people to the ISS or International Space Station. The accident investigation board figured out that, during the launch of the shuttle, a piece of insulating foam had torn from the external tank and struck the orbiter s left wing, weakening its thermal protection ability. When the orbiter later reentered the atmosphere, it was unable to withstand the superheated air, which penetrated the wing and destroyed it, leading to the vehicle s breakup. These two horrible accidents were part of the reason that NASA canceled the Space Shuttle program. On July 8, 2011, Space Shuttle Atlantis flew its last mission. The program was put to a stop because of safety reasons and new technology that could be used instead of the old stuff. NASA still launches some things but other companies such as SpaceX have been used instead to launch satellites. All American Pipeline ALL AMERICAN PIPELINE CASE WRITE UP EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The business nature of the project pipelines affected many of our assumptions and approaches to our calculations for our ultimate decision. The case provided two sets of cost estimates from an outside consultant and from Goodyear after hiring a general contractor. We utilized both sets of costs that directed us to the same decision that Goodyear should not go ahead with the Pipeline Project. Once we obtained the UFCF, the terminal value was calculated in three different ways, treating the pipeline as an asset on our books, finding the value of project if cash flows are received for perpetuity an finding the annuity value of cash flows for 30 years by assuming that after 1992 cash ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We made projections and calculations using estimates of Goodyear s contractors as well as did a sensitivity test using the data of outside consultants, and the negative NPVs of both the projects showed that Goodyear should not go ahead with the project. ASSUMPTIONS Working Capital: In the CF statement given, no separate values for working capital accounts are given so the calculations are done assuming working capital to be 0. Contingency: We disregarded contingency. We did not treat it as a cash component of working capital or as a capitalized expense because it was unclear in the case if the contingency was ever spent. Growth: We assume that the revenues from pipelines grow at the rate of inflation which is 5%, after reaching capacity. Tax credit: We assume that Goodyear benefits from tax credits from this project and therefore the benefit is added to the cash flows. For calculating terminal value: Using the Asset Method The Depreciable PPE calculated for North American Pipeline was sum of total cap ex in 1985 and 1986 excluding the land and right of way, contingency fund. 50% of Investment tax credit was not subtracted from the value of depreciable PPE because it does not affect the value of assets. This is unlike the calculation done for tax purpose, as shown in Exhibit 8. As mentioned in the case, PPE is depreciated on a straight line method for 30 years, for calculating the remaining asset worth. Value of land is added to the

Anzia Yezierska s novel Bread Givers and Assimilation of Jews An entire chapter of Eric Liu s memoir, The Accidental Asian, is founded on the supposition that Jews today serve as a metaphor for assimilation into American culture. According to Liu, this is due to the ease with which Jews have been able to assimilate. However, the progress that Jews have made in embracing and affecting America has been gradual rather than instantaneous, as evidenced by the character Sara Smolensky in Anzia Yezierska s novel Bread Givers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sara s willing dedication to her American identity, as represented by her clothing, is contrasted with the blood relationship she has with her mother, and by extension her actions separate her from her entire ancestry and ethnicity. Denounced for her refusal to comply with the traditions of her culture, and disdainfully called an Americanerin, Sara experiences the social death that Sollors describes, a result of her cultural relationships having become mutually antagonistic (xx). In this scene she temporarily ceases to be Jewish and becomes to her people and to her family merely a female American. This schism is paralleled by a more subtle contrast at the conclusion of the same chapter that should be noted, when Sara hears the poverty stricken cries that Charity saves you from death (256)! This statement of course cannot be literally true, but displays a further contrast between the voluntary and the natural on a more literal level: voluntary generosity versus natural inevitable death. Sara is further distanced from her ethnicity through her resistance to the patriarchal doctrines of Judaism that are followed by her family. Sexually biased Judaism is represented by her father and his frequent citations of the Torah to justify such a position. Woolf gives the reader so many details, seemingly ordinary ones such as Clarissa going to buy flowers for her party, mending her dress, meeting old acquaintances, etc. However, these everyday interactions (combined with the character s inner thoughts) create a very clear and complex image of social class, the perception of time, loneliness/being alone (not physically, but mentally because of self repression), and lastly, the devastating effects of war (as shown by Septimus s mental condition). She admires Sally, and how she would voice her opinions and do things her own way no matter what anyone else thought of her, in a way she envies her for having the freedom she never had. There is a big gap between what Clarissa thinks and what she does/how she allows people to perceive her. Even mentally stifling her own ideas that do not fit into the role she is attempting to play. This leads directly into her feelings of loneliness because while she interacts with a lot of people and is married, there is a distance between her true self and everyone else. There is appropriate humor which dissipates tension; and inappropriate humor which provokes tension (Meeus and Mahieu, 2009). A humor style is defined as the type of humor an individual typically practices when interacting with others (Preeus and Sweeny, 2013). Martin et al. (2003) proposed a model of humor styles comprising of four different styles of humor which are independent of each other. The maladaptive humor which is directed towards one s self in order to gain the approval of others is referred to as self defeating humor. It involves attempts to amuse others at one s own expense by using humor in a self disparaging way i. e. excessively critical and ridiculing of one s self. Individuals with this humor style often allow themselves to be the butt of jokes, and laugh along when they are disparaged by others, in the hopes of gaining others approval and acceptance. This humor style is used to enhance relationships with others, but at the expense of positive feelings about self. It also involves the use of humor as a form of defensive denial, to hide one s underlying negative feelings or avoid dealing constructively with problems (Martin et. al., 2003, Martin, 2007). Regarding female sex offenders they also run the risk of becoming repeat offender to a sex crime or a non related sex crime. Female offenders with higher number of victims or higher amounts of non relating crimes are in risk of recidivism at a higher rate. According to Witt Pirelli (2016) several risk factors for sex offending to consider with female sexual offenders are as follow: Prior felony offenses Prior drug offenses Prior non sexual child victim offenses Also, female sex offenders recidivism rate is much lower for all types of crime than compare with male sex offenders, with a low rate between 1 % to 1.28% for a sexual crime. • 29. Punishment And The Criminal Justice System If we accept that punishment is justified in certain circumstances, then, ideally, it should only be incurred by individuals whose actions warrant punishment. I think, at least amongst civilised society, this opinion cannot be disputed. The difficult question is not whether punishment should be deserved, but when punishment should be deserved. The quotation above suggests that in order to be worthy of punishment, the defendant must have consciously chosen to have committed the wrong of which he or she stands accused. However, as the UK criminal justice system demonstrates, strict compliance with this principle is often impractical. This essay will investigate the legislation that seems to challenge the conscious choice principle, before considering whether or not this legislation compromises the value of the criminal justice system. Before we contemplate the types of behaviour that deserve punishment, it is essential that we understand why deserved punishment is a fundamental premise of the criminal justice system. In order to do this, we will need to consider the different justifications for punishment. As Wilson considers, theories of punishment have historically fallen into one of two categories ; they can be identified as either a retributive theory or a utilitarian (consequentialist) theory.[1] Retributive theories suggest that punishment can only be justified if the punishment itself has some inherent moral value; it cannot be made right by its positive ... Also, a lot of slaves were born into slavery by the fact that children of slave women shall in all cases follow the condition of their mothers, (pg. 2) and the slaveholder now holds the title of father and master. With being torn from their mother at a young age and having your own father be your master, completely takes away the chance of a child that is born into slavery from having the normal nuclear family relationship. 2. The institution of slavery is something that can corrupt all parties involved or that around it. There was no exception, men, women, children, and the slaves themselves could be subject to be corrupted due to these horrific circumstances. Obviously the slave owners were the most corrupted with thinking that this institution was morally right, but their children were taught at a young age that this treatment to black people was fine. • 44. Analyzing John Steinbeck s The Pearl Tiffany Duggins Professor Hancock English 111, Section #W 0 3, October 2014 Pearl Essay Literature, when done well, has always had the power to bring to life stories that in some way mirror human tendencies. Throughout John Steinbeck s novella, The Pearl, he illustrates how something as pure as the importance of family can be poisoned by greed and hate. From the beginning, Steinbeck instills in his character, Kino, the importance of family. He does this by giving him an inner symphony which often guides the character in observing what goes on around him. The main song that continues to occupy Kino s mind is The Song of the Family as it is referred to. Even when the Song of Evil tries to overwhelm Kino s thoughts, the lingering tune which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While people seemed pleased for Kino, their good tidings were laced with dark intentions. Even the priest made a visit in order to insure that the church would receive its share. Another instance is when the doctor, whom hours before had rejected Kino s plea to save Coyotito s life, was suddenly there to come to his aid. It is even suspected that the doctor intentionally made the baby sick in order to make his services required. Kino could see the darkness in him but because he could not deny the doctor s diagnosis, he promised him payment when the pearl was sold. Consequently, it was this very task that brought out the greed in Kino s own heart. Everyone knew of Kino s great discovery, including the pearl buyers who therefore planned to buy the pearl for the lowest price possible. They themselves would receive no greater salary and yet they looked forward to cheating Kino. When presented with an offer of 1,000 pesos he immediately turns them down knowing the pearl is worth way more. Kino had determined in his mind what he should be given and refused to take anything less even if it meant remaining in poverty for another day. Although no one could deny that the pearl was worth more, even his neighbors, hoped that sudden wealth would not turn Kino s head, and slowly, graft onto him the evil limbs of greed, (Steinbeck 43). • 46. I Have An Assignment For You I have an assignment for you that will be more challenging than pressing up into handstand or putting both legs behind your head. In fact, you have to be a real yogi to accept. Are you ready? Here it is: Be nice all day, from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep. Be kind and generous in your thoughts, speech actions and feelings. If it sounds easy and you don t believe me, try giving it a shot before you shrug it off. Because in between traffic jams, travel delays, dirty dishes, barking dogs, screaming babies, bills to pay, laundry piles and a thousand other things that line your to do list, it can be easy to get annoyed or frustrated with the world around you. Take time to reflect on your day so far. If you snapped at anyone ... judged someone harshly (including yourself) ... honked your horn in frustration ... or harbored negativity of any kind ... then you failed the test already. See? It s not as easy as it seems to be genuinely nice all day in every way. In fact, it might just be impossible. After more than fifteen years of a steady Ashtanga Yoga practice, I now measure my success in the practice of yoga by how long I m able to keep my emotional center spacious enough to be genuinely kind. Trust me, it s almost easy to get on the mat and bend and twist your body in comparison. And it is much harder to maintain a kind and generous heart in the face of adversity and stress. But the real yoga happens off the mat. The purpose of every yoga pose is really to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
