Specialist area in Teaching C G 7303 DTLLS COURSE ASSIGNMENT ONE At present my
specialism is Teaching Climbing activities. My role is to deliver different courses in climbing which
are funded by the individual learner or the awarding body as part of their course (example BTEC).
Some of the courses I cover are: Beginner courses which teach the adult learner to climb indoors
independently over a period of 3 weeks. Rock club is perfect for those that have just completed a
beginner s course or returning to climbing. Technique courses are about improving your techniques so
that you can progress your grade which naturally comes after the beginners course. GCSE and A Level

They might help the learner to find the relevant information or check their work and help them to
correct their own mistakes. Other tasks they assist in are reading, spelling or filling in their logbooks.
Sometimes in the work place learners may not be able to come in at the start of the session and the
supporting instructor then explains what we are doing without disrupting the rest of the class. We are
accountable to the BMC The British Mountaineering Council recognises that climbing and
mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities
should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
Risk Assessments are put in place any accident is to be reported to Health and Safety and BMC
(British Mountaineering Club) We have a Duty of Care to our learners by setting up rules structured
by the BMC. They are part of the duty of care that we, as operators, owe to the learner, the customer,
by law. We also have a duty of care to act responsibly towards the other users of the centre. Statements
of Good Practice are posted around the centre adjacent to the relevant facilities. These describe the
accepted methods of use and how learners are expected to behave towards each other. High Sports

The Triassic Era
The Mesozoic Era contains three geologic time periods including the Triassic Period ,from 252 million
to 200 million years ago. The Triassic period was named in 1834 by the German geologist Friedrich
August Von Alberti (1795 1878). It was originally named the Trias . It got its name because this period
of geologic time is represented by a three part division of rock types in Germany . It began 252
million years ago, at the close of the Permian Period, and ended 201 million years ago. Jurassic
Period, from about 200 million to 145 million years ago. During the Jurassic Period, the
supercontinent Pangaea split apart. The Jurassic was a golden age for the large herbivorous dinosaurs

Career Within The Sports Management Field
After throughly researching careers within the Sports Management field, I believe I would be
interested in working as a Director of Player Personnel. The Director of Player Personnel is a
management position within a sports organization whose main job is to support the athletes on the
team (Berner). This specific position is extremely significant for all athletic teams in amateur, college,
and professional leagues. Getting a job within the sports field is highly competitive, but their are more
opportunities now than ever before. I have always wanted to work within sports because of my
passion for fitness and athletics. My major was first Fitness and Health Promotions before I
transferred to the University of Alabama, but I decided to change my major to public relations so I
could work within the business aspect of sports. Working in a fast paced environment with a great deal
of interaction between various other positions is the perfect career for me and public relations is
exactly that. Public relations is defined as a strategic communication process that builds mutually
beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics (PRSA). After researching various
sports related careers, the description for a Director of Player Personnel instantly grabbed my
attention. It is a more specific public relations career involving direct contact with the team s athletes
as week as working with the team s office management and coaches to ensure the individual players

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. In West Virginia s 91 62 win over Long Beach State on Monday night, the
Mountaineers had an unusual cast carry them to victory.
Lamont West scored 22 points. Sagaba Konate contributed a career high 20 points and Chase Harler
added a career high 14.
It was Harler that was a pleasant surprise on the stats sheet.
Coming out of high school, the Moundsville, W.Va. native was a one of the state s top basketball
players. As a senior, he averaged 24.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.

whole lot of time and be really, really good for us, head coach Bob Huggins said. He plays so hard. He

Cinema in Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye Essay
Cinema in Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye
In Toni Morrison s novel, The Bluest Eye, characters learn how to perform social roles though film.
Pauline goes to the movies in search of a more glamorous identity. Instead, the unattainable beauty she
sees onscreen reaffirms her low place in society. Laura Mulvey s article, Visual and Other Pleasures,
explains film s ability to indoctrinate patriarchal social order. This ability is certainly applicable to
Morrison s novel. Film reinforces the Breedloves place in society, teaches Claudia to love Shirley
Temple and constructs women as sexual objects for pleasure. Mulvey s article also examines the
powerful, active male gaze. In The Bluest Eye the female gaze is constructed as dirty, ... Show more

A part on the side, with one little curl on my forehead. It looked just like her. Well, almost just like
(Morrison 123). Pauline recognizes herself in the glamorous women onscreen. Mulvey discusses this
type of recognition in her article. She refers to it as a type of mirror stage when the viewer s curiosity
and the wish to look intermingle with a fascination with likeness and recognition (Mulvey 17). She
goes on to explain how this type of recognition then leads to misrecognition. Pauline experiences such
misrecognition. She learns that she can never be like the beautiful women in the movies. While
watching the show, her tooth falls out. She then realizes, There I was five months pregnant, trying to
look like Jean Harlow, and a front tooth gone. Everything went then. Look like I just didn t care no
more after that (Morrison 123). The tooth falling out reminds Pauline of her ugliness and helps her to
understand her mistake in identifying with Jean Harlow. She understands she will never be beautiful
or glamorous, which are the traits the movies have taught her to value. Because of her film education,
Pauline learns to hate herself. The movies reinforce her inferior social status. She now believes in her
ugliness and the ugliness of her family. She sees nothing to contradict the statement; saw, in fact,
support for it leaning at them from every billboard, every movie, every glance (Morrison 39). Film
instructs Pauline of her proper place

The farm is quiet and peaceful. The weak creaking of the barn in the wind and swaying of the leaves
as well as various animal noises are the only sounds filling what would be silence. A green field dotted
with a plethora of flowers is home to a large red barn and a small yellow house. Kazumi s heavy boots
crunching dead leaves and grasses, combine with the natural sounds of the farm. She is dragging a
heavy sledgehammer behind her, resulting in a dirty trail cut into the ground. Hopefully this is the

The story begins on the day of the Aptitude test, a specific test that helps members of a futuristic
society, choose a faction out of the five faction Abnegation (the selfless), Amity (the kind and
peaceful), Dauntless (the brave and fearless), Erudite (the intelligent), and Candor (the honest).
Sixteen year old Beatrice Prior is warned not to inform anyone about her test result not even her
family, because she is divergent. On the day of the choosing ceremony, the day all sixteen year olds
decide their future, Beatrice s thought are drowned in confusion. She can t decide which faction to

Beatrice decides to change her name to Tris after she jumps off the roof as the first initiate to jump.
The transfer initiates are given a tour of the compound, once they reach the dormitories, one of the
Dauntless leaders, Eric, tells them only ten of the initiates will become members at the end of

Bennelong History
Ok so has anybody heard of Bennelong before? Yes? No? Ok good because I am now going to tell you
every piece of information I found and any information I could extrapolate from the World wide web.
Bennelong was born in 1764. He was a senior man of the Eora Community, an Aboriginal community
from around the Port Jackson area, at the time of the first British settlement in Australia, in 1788.
Bennelong served as a speaker between the Eora and the British, both in Sydney and in the United
Kingdom. Bennelong was a member of the Wangal Clan, connected with the south side of Parramatta
River, having close ties with the Wallumedegal clan, on the west side of the river, and the Burra
mattagal clan near what we know as Parramatta. He had several ... Show more content on

Bennelong travelled with Phillip on the Atlantic to England in 1792. Many historians have claimed
that he was presented to King George III, but there is no direct evidence that this occurred. Soon after
their arrival in England he was made clothes that would have been suitable for his presentation to the
King. While in England, he also went sightseeing. After a while in England, Bennelong s health
deteriorated. He returned to Sydney in February 1795 on HMS Reliance, the ship that took surgeon
George Bass to the colony for the first time. He taught Bass some of his language on the voyage.
Bennelong arrived back in Sydney on 7 September 1795. He returned to a respected position in the
colony, advising Governor Hunter as he had advised and educated Phillip, and also returned to a
prominent position in Eora political and cultural life. He frequently participated in payback battles,
and officiated at ceremonies, including the last recorded initiation ceremony in Port Jackson in 1797.
By the early 19th century, he was the leader of a 100 strong clan living on the north side of the river to

Comparing Sonny s Lettah by Linton Kwesi Johnson who is West Indian and Telephone Conversation
by Wole Soyinka Works Cited Missing The poems I have studied are Sonny s Lettah by Linton Kwesi
Johnson who is West Indian and Telephone Conversation by Wole Soyinka. The theme of both of the
poems is based on racism. The language used in both of the poems is Standard English, dialect,
onomatopoeia and symbolic. Johnson s poem is about a man writing a letter to his mother to inform
her about the racist attack on his brother and himself. He describes how they ended up in prison.

red box and red double tiered, symbolise of racism. It also symbolises that the person is different from
other, and treated as an alien from out of space. Both of the poems make use of rhythm. In Sonny s
Lettah the rhythm is slower at the start and speeds up in the middle and slows down again at the end.
The rhythm gets faster as the fight between the police and the man starts. For example: Dem tump im

visual picture and sound effects. The rhythm in Telephone conversation is slower at the start and gets
faster at the end. Rhyme is used in Sonny s Lettah but not in Telephone conversation. In Sonny s
Lettah the use of rhyming words make the poem more interesting to read. For example: jelly and Belly
there is no rhyme in Telephone conversation because it is a formal conversation between two
unknown people. Both of the poems make use of repetition. In Sonny s Lettah makes good use of
repetition, it shows that there is a good relation between the characters. For example: Jim , Dem , im

Business Value Chain Analysis Of Diageo
Diageo s code for business value creation does involve their tangible assets, however other
organizations can easily buy them, so these are rarely the source of competitive advantage. The
greatest tangible source that is not easily obtainable by other companies is their own resource to
produce raw and unique materials to their own products. Diageo has competitors purchase materials
from their owned and operated distilleries and land to make their own product. Intangible assets are
difficult to measure and can t be touched or seen. These assets drive innovation and contribute to
Diageo s success and competitive edge in the market place. Above, examining Diageo s unique mix of
resources explores how Diageo develops certain resources necessary to support corporate strategy. As
we have reviewed, Diageo has a purpose, vision, mission and objective, and has strategically
implemented internal assets and has the capability and resources to deliver their strategy. Diageo is
interested in growing their people and business as well as improving financial returns and shareholder
value to avoid situations of competitive parity. These views emphasize asset valuation using
accounting and economic measures over effectiveness measures and lack a holistic approach to
understanding value as an internally driven strategic effort (Barney 2001; Hawawini et al 2000). The
RBV performed here on Diageo showcases how Diageo creates value and profits from their internal
resources and focuses

Personal Narrative-It s Time To Purchase A New Car
After many long hours of planning, researching, contemplating, and pleading, I had finally talked my
dad into helping me buy a new car. However, it was not just any car. My dad had found me a zippy,
shimmering gold color, 2006 convertible Volvo. It was beautiful! The tan leather was in pristine
condition. The exterior had no scratches, dents, or marks of any kind. The gold color glistened in the
sunlight as if each speck of glitter was a flame. The cream colored carpet was spotless. The
speedometer read all the way up to 180 miles per hour. Then there was the magical moment of

learning how to drive one was just something I had never quite mastered. Every time someone had
tired to teach me, all that seemed to follow was nervous laughter, anxiety on overdrive, killing the car
many times, and then usually ending up with me pulling over and letting my mom, dad, boyfriend, etc.
finish the trip. You would think that with all of my humiliating memories with stick shifts that I would

to shy away from shifting. I was going to prove to all those doubters that I could drive any car I
wanted to, wherever I wanted to, and that the fact that it was an automatic or standard did not matter
to me. The memories of terror and uneasiness were quickly thrown out of my mind as I signed on the

Why Is Violence Become Such Part Of The Transnational Drug...
Why has violence become such part of the transnational drug culture? The violence is a topic widely
discussed in different journalistic media: newspapers, magazines, radio and television programs, as
well as being a topic of debate among State officials; however, we have so far been able to say who
we are organized on the left. Maybe because we do not consider it to be the main problem of the
people abuse in the country, perhaps because it is a problem that we consider to be foreign, or
permanently in the official discourse. However at this point it is undeniable that there is currently a
situation in our country in which drug trafficking and the increase of social violence linked to it have
reached a level such that it is difficult to continue to elude the discussion; Moreover, it is important
that we use our own analytical tools to explain it, in my case I will use the best analytical tool we have
so far, Marxism.
On the other hand I have to clarify that I do this writing by way of essay because I consider that the
journalistic information about the drug cartels, their rivalries, operations and composition is not
reliable. In most cases they are reports and leaks of a police character, rumors and sayings of the
involved ones that result in the end; confusing, contradictory and deceptive.
Thus, my purpose will be to point out some structural and essential aspects for the understanding of
the problem, regardless of the concrete analysis of such a business .

The Myth Of Fourteenth Century Europe
During a period within fourteenth century Europe, a pestilence known as the bubonic plague swept
across eastern Asia and into England via trade, leaving millions dead in its wake. The Black Plague
arrived at a time of war and famine in Europe, only further devastating the lives of medieval citizens.
Religiously, socially, and politically, there were no immediate changes from the Black Plague,
however, a Catholic schism, the ability for social mobility, and standing armies would develop in the
following years, ultimately leading to sizable differences in life. The essence of fourteenth century
European life revolved around the Roman Catholic Church; the papacy asserted spiritual rule and
every individual was devoted to God and their beliefs. Therefore, when the plague hit Europe and
killed one third to one half of the entire population, people questioned God as to why He would kill
entire towns across the continent. Communities prayed for forgiveness, believing they had committed
a sin large enough to deserve such a disease, however, clergymen, priests, and average citizens alike
fell ill to the Black Plague, and none were spared. After the plague diminished from Europe, the
church had a schism which entailed three popes at a single time, and the Renaissance led to a
humanistic movement where people began to turn to individualism. This new found set of ideals
would further lead to a sixteenth century reformation of the church, altering the course of history. The

Subaru took a bold and very risky move in 2005 by upping the STI s engine from a 2.0L engine to a
2.5L. Although it may not sound like a large increase, it proved to be just what Subaru needed to keep
the fire burning when it came to their continuous wins in rally tournaments. The new and improved
STI now sported a 2.5L turbocharged flat 4 engine, now pulling a little over 300 horsepower at stock.
The EVO did manage to hold up surprisingly well to the new STI while only having a 2.0L
turbocharged engine; however, The STI, on the other hand, does not disappoint in that area. Power
from the Subaru s larger 2.5 liter turbocharged flat 4 comes in early and seems to stay fairly linear
where the Evo s power kicks in abruptly. The STI has consistently offered more popularity among car
enthusiasts due to its larger and more powerful turbocharged engine that pulls more boost, torque, and
horsepower over the EVO. The car culture and community around the STI has continuously increased
due to its increased power and pizazz then the EVO that can hold up with the STI, but doesn t offer the
immense power STI owners have come to love. The 6 speed transmission of the STI proved to be of a
crucial benefit as it allowed for better control over the driver s car due to the less limiting gear ranges.

Self definition Throughout history black women have been stereotyped and put into many different
roles in society. Black women, it seems, have become the scapegoat for many issues and problems and
have been misrepresented usually by men, mostly by white men. Through the creation of the mammy,
the sapphire, the Jezebel, the strong black woman and more, black women have been misrepresented
and portrayed in negative ways in society. In a response to this labeling, black women have begun to
tell their own stories and speak out for themselves. Through their writings, black women writers have
been able to dispel the stereotypes of black women by showing the truth, the true story of the women,

I m thinking bout telling Bovanne what a lovely dress Nisi got on instead I just haul the man on out
of there (Bambara 9). She decides to define herself. Toni Morrison uses situational irony in a
different manner, instead of using the women s thoughts she uses their actions. The expectations of the
reader are because of the upbringing and personal connection of Sula and Nel. The reader experiences
situational irony in upbringing through Nel and irony in the women s personal connection through
Sula. It may seem as if Nel will not become like her mother, leave the town, travel, become chaotic
and take chances. For days afterward she imagined other trips she would take Leaving Medallion
would be her goal (Morrison 29). Nel does none of this and settles into the life of the Bottom and
contrary to what the reader expects, she grows up to be almost exactly like her mother. Yet it is not
expected that Nel would do this and it is surprising when it happens. Morrison spends great detail
explaining the upbringing of both Nel and Sula to show that they are exact opposites, foils of each
other and the attraction that each has towards their different lives. Nel, grows up with a strict mother,
she is restricted by her mother and is never able to express herself. Her household is quiet and

In this way, Frost avoids oversimplifying the characterization of nature in his poems. However, in his
poem The Tuft of Flowers, Frost peculiarly compares nature and man as part of a harmonious whole.
Frost explains this theory within his heroic couplets of iambic pentameter and masculine end rhymes.
Many of the lines are end stopped with caesura which makes us feel as though we marching along
next to him as he tromps through the field. The speaker in this poem is a bit lonely as he begins; he s
out in the field to turn the hay so that it dries in the sun and can be later collected up. He thinks about
the mower, there earlier in the day and also working alone, and says all men are alone, whether they
work together or apart. He watches a butterfly flit about, and sees a tall tuft of flowers (butterfly weed
a form of milkweed with orange or yellow flowers) that the mower left standing along a brook (23).
The speaker appreciates the beauty of that tuft, and the generosity of the mower in leaving it standing
when the rest of the field was mowed down by his scythe, resulting in a feeling of kinship and/or
fellowship that pervades the rest of the day. This makes him reconsider his earlier glass half empty
statement; he now sees the glass as half full: Men work together . . . whether they work together or
apart

Short Note On Cutting My Hair
I stood there with the dull, black, kitchen scissors in my hand opening and closing them in thoughtful
anticipation. This was it. This was the moment I decided to be recklessly happy. I had wanted a haircut
for a long time and now I was going to get what I wanted regardless of the consequences. On
November 15, 2015, I decided to cut all of my hair off which gave me the courage to be myself whilst
handling the consequences, and through it all I learned that my happiness was more important than
making others happy. The decision to cut my hair was not a quick one, I deliberated on what to do for
years. I first got the idea to cut my hair four years ago when I was twelve. I did not mean a trim or
even a few inches off. I wanted a pixie cut. This was a shock to my parents because I had always had
long hair. The most I had ever cut was an inch or two. They were horrified when I cheerfully
presented them with a picture of the haircut I wanted. My parents had a stunned looks on their faces,
and in unison they said No . I, for the life of me, could not figure out why they reacted so badly. I
began to develop a plan. I would begin the process of cutting my hair by giving myself bangs. A few
weeks passed and then I did it. I grabbed a slightly dulled pair of scissors, parted my hair from left to
right near the front of my face, wrapped a hair tie around it and braced myself. I took a deep breath
and placed the scissors right above the tie and cut it off. Six inches of hair fell into

The Ailment, Diagnosis, And Treatment Of 72 Year Old...
In the following case study I will discuss the ailment, diagnosis, and treatment of 72 year old Margaret
Donavan. In her case she was brought into the emergency room after suffering from a fall. After the
fall she was unable to get herself up but only suffered injury to her right hip. She was also very alert
and responsive at the scene. She had no previous history of any health issues besides hypertension
which she was taking medication for.
1. What is it meant by a complete, comminuted, intertrochanteric fracture of the right hip ?

comminuted, intertrochanteric fracture of her right hip. In a complete fracture, it means that the bone

When a femur becomes osteoporotic, it is the outer layer of the bone around the epiphyses and
diaphysis, which begins to thin. This is the compact bone. In the distal and proximal epiphyses there
would also be a loss of the cancellous bone. This is where the spongy bone is. When a bone is
osteoporotic, a person becomes more susceptible to suffering from a bone fracture. On an x ray, an
osteoporotic femur doesn t look as dense as a normal femur x ray. In some of them you can see the
larger spaces that are made in the trabeculae of the bone. This is the part that has a spongy appearance.
In a normal femur the spaces in the spongy bone are smaller and dense. In the osteoporotic bone, the
spaces are larger, which makes the bone more fragile. It doesn t have as strong of a structure as a
normal bone would.
4. Describe the microscopic features of osseous tissue that normally help long bones withstand lateral
stress without breaking.
When lateral stress is placed on the femur there are two different types of impact. The first one causes
compression of the bone on the side of the bone during impact. The second one causes stretching on
the opposite side of the bone during impact. When these two actions work together they actually
cancel each other out which takes away the need for compact bone in the middle area of the femur.
With this action, the middle area of bone

Comparing Taming Of The Shrew And Zeffirelli s
One s true sentiments lie buried beneath what seems to be multiple layers of personal propaganda.
However, despite these fabricated personas deceiving most, may only be seen through by those who
dare to look further; those who remain unfooled by the performance. This statement abides intact for
Katherina Minola, one of William Shakespeare s protagonists in The Taming of the Shrew, as well as
the protagonist for the Zeffirelli Burton production of the same name, with Elizabeth Taylor as
Katherina. Throughout both works, the portrayal of Katherina is a fiercely independent and quite
violent woman who suffers great internal conflicts hidden by this shrewish personality, yet the
Zeffirelli Burton production spares little room for interpretation ... Show more content on

Perhaps due to the egregious difference in the perception of a character when acted out by a human
being, Katherina appears to be more violent and physical in her behaviours compared to her character
in the play. For instance, during her argument with Bianca in the play, she simply strikes her once
before the interference of Baptista. However, Katherina chases her through the corridors of the Minola
residence with a large sword acting as a threat, as she unabatingly enjoins her to confess which suitor
she favours. Destroying furniture and throwing items during the process of her beseeching Bianca for
a confession, Katherina almost uses the sword on her as she flies towards her in a stabbing stance,
until the appearance of Baptista interferes with her intention to impale her younger sister. In
comparison with the pure striking of Bianca in the play, Katherina presents herself as not only more
physically violent, but more malicious and willing to cause injury, indicating a greater temper as well.
In addition, Katherina s violence ensues with her first encounter with Petruchio. Arriving at the
Minola residence to woo Katherina, she is not at all impressed by his first appearance. When the two
are placed into solidarity and Petruchio quite suddenly proposes to Katherina, she becomes enraged by

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby: A Life Foolishly Lived
Released in 1925, F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby cleverly demonstrates the manners
and morals commonly practiced throughout the time period. The plot revolves around several main
themes and effectively expresses Fitzgerald s unique perspective. With an objective standpoint, Nick
Carraway narrates the story as Jay Gatsby, a foolish racketeer, tries to win over his lifelong love,
Daisy Buchanan. Although pecuniary matters can often be too large of an influence on human
relationships, the novel unveils several powerful battles entangling love, morals, and money.

Transforming his name and developing new life values are only parts of the lifecycle in which Jay
Gatsby participates in order to follow his dreams. Although not always successful in creating new
individualities, Gatsby s attempts are fully genuine.
Gatsby struggles to fit into social groups in to which Daisy Buchanan belongs. Daisy and her husband,
Tom Buchanan, often attend parties hosted by Gatsby. Although these parties may be essentially
hosted by him, Gatsby does not wholeheartedly attend. As he shrinks away to other areas of his home,
Gatsby is able to avoid socializing with his guests. I made an attempt to find my host but the two or
three people of whom I asked his whereabouts stared at me in such an amazed way and denied so
vehemently any knowledge of his movement (46). This quote demonstrates how many of the
partygoers have become used to Gatsby s nonattendance. Therefore, the primary motive of his
characteristic social gatherings is revealed, to attract the attention and win the heart of Daisy
Buchanan.
Although Gatsby believes his parties may be bringing him somewhat closer to his love, they further
extend the gap between him and other social groups. At many parties, guests often speak of him and
his fictitious past with little concern of his reputation. For example, one guest at a party speaks of ...he

Importance Of Integrity In The Military
This I Believe This I believe is a very vague question in terms of what I believe. I have a multiplex of
beliefs, yet one of my cardinal beliefs is integrity. Integrity is knowing that you re honest and fair,
which is what I live by. It s a level of respect you give which results in a positive outcome on your
character as a human being. It s a trait not everyone has fortitude to achieve and not one of those traits
you re born with, it s one of those traits you develop over the span of your life as you attain
understanding. When I initial set foot in the military I had no concept of what integrity was or what it
denoted. As I grew in the military and worked my way up the ranks integrity developed in me and
transcended my life and the way I reasoned. It impacted the way I observed the word and the military

Archicad Essay
AutoCAD vs. ArchiCAD in Architecture Architectural design today has moved from designing by
hand to designing with several different software programs that have made the job much easier. Two
of the main programs in many architectural firms today are AutoCAD2000 and ArchiCAD 6.5. Both
are very productive design tools but each has its own defects in certain areas of the design process.
Design processes today have been reversed from designing from the inside to the outside, to designing
from the outside to the inside. Most designing today is based on the actual structural appearance one
will perceive from the exterior, rather than the functional use of the interior; although both are taken
into consideration. AutoCAD is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One only produces a plan drawing when one has resolved the elevations and layouts. A plan really
needs to grow out of the functional and aesthetic requirements of a project. Yet ArchiCAD constrains
one to work in plan from the start; from this the other views are created. This is great for
documentation but very constraining for the design process. AutoCAD bypasses this problem better by
showing a simultaneous plan, multiple elevations and sections, and of most importance, make the
editing tools available in all views. For example, a parapet wall can be created by shaping the wall in
an elevational view, where as in ArchiCAD, one can either create it as a shaped library object to be
inserted where required or construct a false roof of the right height and pitch to which the wall can be
trimmed. This demonstrates that AutoCAD is easier to use in this aspect. The current sections and
elevations in AutoCAD are only usable to trace over because they are missing a proper layer structure
and the possibility to be edited while still linked to the model. For instance, one should be able to add
the windowsills on the elevations, even if they do not appear in the three dimensional mode. Or one
should be able to compositionally crosshatch an elevation and have the hatch adjusted if the model is
changed. One should also be able to add things such as dimensions and annotations without having to
add them in paper space, have

This collectivistic phenomenon of leadership, as some are calling it, involves multiple individuals
divesting in leadership roles over time both formal and informal relationships, thus creating a
paradigm shift (Cullen Lester Yammarino, 2016). With this change, theories emerge recognizing
collectives as complex relational systems. Theories of shared leadership, collective decision making,
complexity theory, flock leadership, the social construction of leadership, sensemaking, and social
exchange and entrainment are examples of the diverse collective leadership concepts emerging for
success. Cullen Lester and Yammarino (2016) state that collective leadership is a required capability
in facing increasing complex workplaces, business challenges, and social problems; for which,
collective and networking leadership are changing academia and practice. Thomas E. Will (2016)
writes about a new concept known as flock leadership that is a result of collective behavior. Flock
leadership is theoretical framing that is a unique emergent collective behavior in organizational
settings analyzing relationships between emergent behavioral patterns, interaction norms and means to
identify leadership opportunities (Will, 2016). An agent based computer simulation known as flocking

Research Critique, Part 2
The purpose of this paper is to critique an article on the circumstances and characteristics of why
patients fall in the hospital setting. The article being critiqued defines a fall as an unexpected drop
from a sitting, standing, and lying position, which include an assisted fall (where someone helps guide
them to the floor), slipping from a chair to the floor, and when a patient is found on the floor (Hitcho

There was some researcher bias because some of the information that was collected from different
sources conflicted, and the person who collected the data best judgment was used. Many patients
recall of the circumstances surrounding their fall was not dependable.
The study s findings revealed that of the 183 patients that fell while hospitalized, the average age was
63.4 with the ages ranging from 17 to 96. It also discovered that many of the falls were unassisted,
occurred in the evenings and in the patient s hospital room, and had fallen during ambulation. It was
also discovered that falls related to elimination increased the risks for injury. Out of the medical,
cardiology, neurology, surgical, oncology, orthopedic, and women/infant units that were included in
the study, the medical and neurology units had the highest incidence of falls. These units also had the
highest patient to nurse ratios (Hitcho et al., 2008). These findings also determined that falls occurred
when patients were unassisted, ambulating, and were related to elimination needs. Because of these
findings, prevention measures should focus on increasing staff assistance while patients are
ambulating and supervised/assisted toileting schedules need to be provided. The findings can be
applied to all areas of nursing. Despite prevention efforts, threats to reimbursement, and good
intentions, falls still remain a serious and costly

Analysis Of The Writings Of Washington Irving, Nathaniel...
Review of writings of Washington Irving, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Edgar Allan Poe.
By Mantegbosh Letyibelu
Irving, Poe, and Hawthorne were arguably some of the most popular writers of the 19th century
(Dincer 223; Lauter 2505). All three of them are known for their short essays and their advocacy to
make writing a full fledged and legitimate profession. Their writings show that they were hugely
influenced by the Romantic Movement (romanticism); a movement in art, literature, music,
philosophy, politics and culture towards focusing on the individual, the subjective, and the
spontaneous (Dincer 218). Romanticist writing encouraged contemplation and self awareness, direct
contact with nature, and a focus on and an exploration of inner feelings (Dincer 223). Yet, they had
distinct writing style, focus, and theme. While Irving was more of a light romantic writer, a writing
style characterized by optimism, Poe and Hawthorne are widely considered dark romantic Authors
whose writings were characterized by pessimism that sees the world as full of dark, evil, suffering,
horror, and mystery. While Irving s writing focused more on satire and humor, Poe Hawthorne s
writing was more about evil, crime, sin, and mystery. Moreover, Irving seem to be nostalgic aristocrat
with huge interest in the landscape, folklore, and the past (2506), whereas Poe and Hawthorne had a
contrary view of the past (Liptak).

Historical Analysis Of Cinderella
I chose to do romantic love for my myth analysis. The components to a romantic love are like a fairy
tale. Women are waiting to find their knight and shiny armor. Men and women expect to have the
perfect marriage and live happily ever after. In romantic myths couples are seen as perfect with no
issues at all. Romantic love is shown in movies, songs, and novels. Romantic love never shows the
actuality of realistic relationships. Realistically people get divorced more than marriage. The first
artifact I pick is the movie Cinderella. Cinderella is an orphan mistreated by her step sisters, and mom.

How Electricity Is Produced By Using Coal
These days, most of us tend to take electricity for granted. If one were to be asked where it comes
from, you would most likely get responses from all over, with a common response being, Out of the
sockets in the wall! In this paper I will be giving a very brief overview of how electricity is produced,
specifically from coal.
Generating electricity requires a fuel source, and the fuel source for both EKP and DP L is coal. About
60% of the electricity nationwide is produced by using coal. Coal arrives mainly by a barge, but also
by rail and truck. Barges typically deliver around 1,500 tons of coal, which is enough to keep a plant
running for a couple of hours. A plant uses around 21,000 tons of coal each day, so over 1,000,000
tons of coal is stockpiled next to the plant. A device called a stacker reclaimer scoops coal onto a
quarter mile long conveyor that can transport up to 900 tons of coal into the plant each hour. Once
inside the plant, up to a thirty hour supply of coal can be stored in bunkers. Coal moves from the
bunkers to feeders to be measured and moved to pulverizers. Coal enters the pulverizer and spins in a
large drum where hundreds of steel balls grind it into a fine powder. Now a fine powder, the coal
leaves the pulverizers and heads to the boiler. About 335 tons of coal can be pulverized per hour.
Large fans add warm air to the powdery coal and blow it into the boiler. The boiler has miles of tubes
filled with high quality water. Once

Honesty In The End
Everything will be okay in the end. If it s not okay, it s not the End. John Lennon The Quote above

Like stories in the books or movies it only end when the character resolve all the problems his been

your life, don t give up until you can reach your goal. Don t stop even you fail after all it s not yet the
end. As we grow older there are lot of things happens in our life, there are lot of problem that
challenge us to see how far can we go, how long can we endure it. In this quote tells us that no matter
what happens we should stand still and continue what we started to do. Sometimes we fail but it s not

The Effects Of Climate Change On The Earth Essay
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...and see if I could not learn what it had to
teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived (Thoreau, 66). In two decades of life, I
have struggled to find anything superior to a forest path for the endeavor of self reflection and growth.
I have been awestruck at the vastness of the Blue Ridge mountains and entranced by the moon s gentle
glow permeating a midnight canopy. Although I treasure these sublime experiences, they do not
motivate me to advocate for a sustainable society. Climate change is a byproduct of humanity s
unprecedented impact on the planet and it threatens the sublime natural spaces that many
environmentalists hold dear. With the impending threats of sea level rise, super storms, food shortages,
and extinction, environmentalists must find a new course of action. If the worst manifestations of
climate change are to be prevented, the movement must more effectively engage the public and
facilitate a reduction of carbon emissions and material waste. At the root of this issue lies
environmentalism s failure to embrace a single conception of nature. As the movement lacks a
consensus on nature, it has no uniformity of rhetoric or singular goal. Some environmentalists wish to
preserve sublime wilderness, others fight to prevent ecological collapse, while still others wish simply
to save nature. Whatever their motives for participation, environmentalists must unify behind one

control and maintain vegetation that is vital for a healthy environment not only for the primate but also
other species that live in the environment as well. Since the discovery of the mountain gorilla much
fascination has been drawn toward the species. However, the gentle creature s population has had a
sharp decline from Rwanda s belief in sumu, poaching, human disease, and unregulated tourism. In
efforts to revive the species population from extinction, persistent activism through worldly
foundations are helping protect the mountain gorilla species. Von Beringe discovered the primate on
the summits of the Virunga Volcanoes (Berggorilla and Direkthilfe, 2000). The officer described the
mountain gorilla as to be a large manlike ape, that was tall in stature (about 1 1/2 meters tall), and
weighed over 200 pounds (Schaller, 2010). The mountain gorilla physical characteristics from other
subspecies of primate differs by: lengthy hair, jaw, and teeth, as well as shorter arms (http://wwf
congobasin.org/, 2010). The mountain gorilla is one of the most wooly of primates, it has a long thick
coat of fur that is necessary for the high cold altitudes. (Hilyard, 2001). Also, when male

Franchising Is A Major Driver Of Business Development And...
Franchising
According to Hill, Jones, and Schilling (2015), franchising is a strategy in which the franchisor or the
founding company grants the franchisees, the purchasing company, the right to use the franchisor s
name, reputation, and business model in return for a franchise fee and often a percentage fee and often
a percentage of the profit. The business must operate under strict guidelines, follow the rules,
regulations, and standards given by the founding franchisors (Hill, et al 2015, p. 182). This creates a
business relationship between the two. According to Ribeiro, D., Akehurst, G. P. (2014) franchising
has become a major driver of business development and franchisor brand equity is a critical factor
with a clear impact on the perception and behavior of the franchise. Franchises brings together
independent companies and establish agreements between two parties.
Requirement to become a franchise
Hill, et al, (2015), states that typically, franchisees must adhere to some strict rules which governs how
to do business. The franchisor requires them to take the same basic business model and run in a certain
manner. They must have the same basic look, operate in a certain way, feel, offering, pricing and
business processes as other. The founding business assists the franchisee and typically receives a
percentage of the revenues (Hill, et al 2015, p. 182).
On the other Ribeiro, et al (2014), believes that in order for a franchisee to commence first, there is a

The Spanish Inquisition affected Spain s national Identify as it was the first time that Spain ever
encountered an Inquisition with the soul purpose of getting rid of all hersey including any of those
who converted from Judaism and Islam to Christian. There were three huge factors on why the
Inquisition every started in Spain, the main factor was that it allowed the christian leaders to conquer
Spain and take any control away that the Muslim authority had before. Another key factor is that it
caused a huge rivalry between two young kings of France and Spain. The last factor was that it unified
two kingdoms under the leadership of the newly married monarchs, Isabella I and Ferdinand II. The

Imperial China Historiography
In the imperial China, the role of controlling the emperor s power started with a historiographer, then
to be a permanent position, however, what the objectives controlled is the administrative officers and
their remonstrations to the emperor in some dynasties, rather not the directly challenge emperors
power. Nonetheless, a historiographer is supposed to be responsible for assessing the historical merits
and demerits of the emperor s conduct while recording the daily life. There arise therein a force to
regulate the emperor s conduct. Only, the intervention of the emperor s mandate that change the
objectives from the emperor himself to the other bureaucratic officers may destroy the balance.

Benefits of Legalizing Marijuana Essay
Benefits of Legalizing Marijuana Every year, 400,000 Americans die of complications caused by
tobacco products. Smoking kills more Americans each year than alcohol, crack, heroin, murder,
suicide, car accidents, fires, and AIDS all put together. Every week, eight children under the age of
eighteen die from alcohol related crashes. Alcohol abuse contributes to almost 50% of all traffic
accidents, suicides, and homicides. However, despite the proven dangers of these socially acceptable
drugs, they are still legal. Marijuana, a much less acceptable drug, is not legal however, despite the
fact that research has yet to pin any specific dangers to this drug. Aside from the health issues of
marijuana, there are the many other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inflated accounts of the effects of marijuana included violent crimes, users going crazy, and death
from marijuana usage. This propaganda led to 27 states passing marijuana restriction laws. The
Marijuana Tax Act, which would make use of marijuana a criminal offense, was introduced in April of
1937. The two congressional hearings combined totaled less than one hour. Oddly enough, these
hearings were bases solely on the propaganda of the media. When the American Medical Association
(AMA) came forward to state, among other things, that there was no proof that marijuana was at all
harmful and that prohibiting the drug would severely compromise physicians abilities to utilize the
therapeutic qualities of the plant, AMA Legislative Council Dr. William C. Woodward was told: If you
want to advise us on legislation, you ought to come here with some constructive proposals ... rather
than trying to throw obstacles in the way of something that the federal government is trying to do.

Everyone Needs A Little H2o
Everyone Needs a Little H2O Ever since the beginning of time water has been important. Water has
been important because it is one of the most abundant substance on Earth. Water is important because
every living thing contains water, and every living thing must have water to function. Water is
important whether it is e drunk a supper or if it is being used for survival in the desert. Water is
important because it is required for man to live, breath and thrive on this planet. In the article, How
Much Water Do We Actually Need, J. Lunn and R. Foxen state, Water is an essential requirement for
life without water, humans can only survive for 2 to 3 days at the most (336). In addition to water
being essential for life, it also has many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prehydration 2. Hydration 3. Dehydration 4. Rehydration (Okanovic et al. 69). These four phases
indicate when the athlete should hydrate. Prehydration and hydration are similar because both refer to
hydrating before competition. While prehydration refers to hydrating a few days before a competition,
hydration refers to hydrating throughout the day of the competition (Okanovic et al. 69 70).
Dehydration is the loss of water from the body. While Prehydration and hydration have to do with
hydrating prior to competition, rehydration is rehydrating the body after a competition (Okanovic et
al. 70). Dehydration is a serious condition and should not be taken lightly While the body not having
enough water is a big issue for athletes, too much water can also be a problem. In the article, How
Much Water Do We Actually Need, it states, If an individual consumes too much water, this can lead
to water intoxication with potentially life threatening hyponatraemia (Lunn and Foxen 336 337).
While an athlete should be careful on over consuming water, an athlete also needs to consume enough
water to last throughout a competition. Laura Purcell in her article, Sports Nutrition for Young
Athletes, Laura Purcell states, Before activity, athletes should consume 400ml to 600ml of cold water
2 h to 3 h before their event (Purcell). While four hundred to six hundred milliliters may not seem like
a lot of water,

Battle of Guadalcanal
Some of the bloodiest fight of World War II came in the Pacific. Much of that fighting came at the
Battle of Guadalcanal. A remote island in the Solomons Island chain, Guadalcanal was not thought of
as important, prior to 1942. For several reasons, Guadalcanal was the most significant battle of the war
in the Pacific. The Battle of Guadalcanal was the first offensive the United States took in World War
II. Because of its location, Guadalcanal pushed back the Japanese defensive ring, and put the U.S. in
an aggressive mindset. As an intangible factor, the victory at Guadalcanal provided a much needed
morale boost to U.S. servicemen, who had not had a decisive triumph against the Japanese. Most
importantly, the U.S. gained control of an important airstrip on Guadalcanal that the Japanese had
been trying to utilize.
Guadalcanal was the first American offensive of World War II. American efforts in the Pacific were
heavily impeded by the Europe First strategy during World War II (Gray 317). President Roosevelt
and Prime Minister Winston Churchill both saw Europe as being more important than Asia. Nazi
Germany was viewed as the major threat to Western ideals. Neither the U.S. nor Europe feared a
Japanese invasion. The American Army would send the majority of its forces into Europe. The U.S.
Navy had some of its ships act as convoys to protect merchant ships, but most of the aircraft carriers
were in the Pacific. The United States Marine Corps (USMC) was entirely

My role is to deliver different courses in climbing which are funded by the individual learner or the awarding body as part of their course (example BTEC). Some of the courses I cover are: Beginner courses which teach the adult learner to climb indoors independently over a period of 3 weeks. The Triassic period was named in 1834 by the German geologist Friedrich August Von Alberti (1795 1878). It was originally named the Trias . It got its name because this period of geologic time is represented by a three part division of rock types in Germany . • 4. Career Within The Sports Management Field After throughly researching careers within the Sports Management field, I believe I would be interested in working as a Director of Player Personnel. The Director of Player Personnel is a management position within a sports organization whose main job is to support the athletes on the team (Berner). This specific position is extremely significant for all athletic teams in amateur, college, and professional leagues. Getting a job within the sports field is highly competitive, but their are more opportunities now than ever before. I have always wanted to work within sports because of my passion for fitness and athletics. My major was first Fitness and Health Promotions before I transferred to the University of Alabama, but I decided to change my major to public relations so I could work within the business aspect of sports. Working in a fast paced environment with a great deal of interaction between various other positions is the perfect career for me and public relations is exactly that. Public relations is defined as a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics (PRSA). After researching various sports related careers, the description for a Director of Player Personnel instantly grabbed my attention. It is a more specific public relations career involving direct contact with the team s athletes as week as working with the team s office management and coaches to ensure the individual players are ... • 6. Cinema in Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye Essay Cinema in Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye In Toni Morrison s novel, The Bluest Eye, characters learn how to perform social roles though film. Pauline goes to the movies in search of a more glamorous identity. Instead, the unattainable beauty she sees onscreen reaffirms her low place in society. Laura Mulvey s article, Visual and Other Pleasures, explains film s ability to indoctrinate patriarchal social order. This ability is certainly applicable to Morrison s novel. Film reinforces the Breedloves place in society, teaches Claudia to love Shirley Temple and constructs women as sexual objects for pleasure. Mulvey discusses this type of recognition in her article. She refers to it as a type of mirror stage when the viewer s curiosity and the wish to look intermingle with a fascination with likeness and recognition (Mulvey 17). She goes on to explain how this type of recognition then leads to misrecognition. Pauline experiences such misrecognition. She learns that she can never be like the beautiful women in the movies. While watching the show, her tooth falls out. She then realizes, There I was five months pregnant, trying to look like Jean Harlow, and a front tooth gone. Everything went then. Look like I just didn t care no more after that (Morrison 123). The tooth falling out reminds Pauline of her ugliness and helps her to understand her mistake in identifying with Jean Harlow. She understands she will never be beautiful or glamorous, which are the traits the movies have taught her to value. Because of her film education, Pauline learns to hate herself. The movies reinforce her inferior social status. She now believes in her ugliness and the ugliness of her family. She sees nothing to contradict the statement; saw, in fact, support for it leaning at them from every billboard, every movie, every glance (Morrison 39). Bennelong served as a speaker between the Eora and the British, both in Sydney and in the United Kingdom. After a while in England, Bennelong s health deteriorated. He returned to Sydney in February 1795 on HMS Reliance, the ship that took surgeon George Bass to the colony for the first time. He taught Bass some of his language on the voyage. Bennelong arrived back in Sydney on 7 September 1795. He frequently participated in payback battles, and officiated at ceremonies, including the last recorded initiation ceremony in Port Jackson in 1797. • 11. Business Value Chain Analysis Of Diageo Diageo s code for business value creation does involve their tangible assets, however other organizations can easily buy them, so these are rarely the source of competitive advantage. The greatest tangible source that is not easily obtainable by other companies is their own resource to produce raw and unique materials to their own products. Diageo has competitors purchase materials from their owned and operated distilleries and land to make their own product. Intangible assets are difficult to measure and can t be touched or seen. These assets drive innovation and contribute to Diageo s success and competitive edge in the market place. Above, examining Diageo s unique mix of resources explores how Diageo develops certain resources necessary to support corporate strategy. As we have reviewed, Diageo has a purpose, vision, mission and objective, and has strategically implemented internal assets and has the capability and resources to deliver their strategy. Diageo is interested in growing their people and business as well as improving financial returns and shareholder value to avoid situations of competitive parity. These views emphasize asset valuation using accounting and economic measures over effectiveness measures and lack a holistic approach to understanding value as an internally driven strategic effort (Barney 2001; Hawawini et al 2000). • 13. Why Is Violence Become Such Part Of The Transnational Drug... Why has violence become such part of the transnational drug culture? The violence is a topic widely discussed in different journalistic media: newspapers, magazines, radio and television programs, as well as being a topic of debate among State officials; however, we have so far been able to say who we are organized on the left. Maybe because we do not consider it to be the main problem of the people abuse in the country, perhaps because it is a problem that we consider to be foreign, or permanently in the official discourse. However at this point it is undeniable that there is currently a situation in our country in which drug trafficking and the increase of social violence linked to it have reached a level such that it is difficult to continue to elude the discussion; Moreover, it is important that we use our own analytical tools to explain it, in my case I will use the best analytical tool we have so far, Marxism. On the other hand I have to clarify that I do this writing by way of essay because I consider that the journalistic information about the drug cartels, their rivalries, operations and composition is not reliable. In most cases they are reports and leaks of a police character, rumors and sayings of the involved ones that result in the end; confusing, contradictory and deceptive. • 15. The Myth Of Fourteenth Century Europe During a period within fourteenth century Europe, a pestilence known as the bubonic plague swept across eastern Asia and into England via trade, leaving millions dead in its wake. The Black Plague arrived at a time of war and famine in Europe, only further devastating the lives of medieval citizens. Religiously, socially, and politically, there were no immediate changes from the Black Plague, however, a Catholic schism, the ability for social mobility, and standing armies would develop in the following years, ultimately leading to sizable differences in life. The essence of fourteenth century European life revolved around the Roman Catholic Church; the papacy asserted spiritual rule and every individual was devoted to God and their beliefs. Therefore, when the plague hit Europe and killed one third to one half of the entire population, people questioned God as to why He would kill entire towns across the continent. Communities prayed for forgiveness, believing they had committed a sin large enough to deserve such a disease, however, clergymen, priests, and average citizens alike fell ill to the Black Plague, and none were spared. After the plague diminished from Europe, the church had a schism which entailed three popes at a single time, and the Renaissance led to a humanistic movement where people began to turn to individualism. This new found set of ideals would further lead to a sixteenth century reformation of the church, altering the course of history. The citizens of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The new and improved STI now sported a 2.5L turbocharged flat 4 engine, now pulling a little over 300 horsepower at stock. The EVO did manage to hold up surprisingly well to the new STI while only having a 2.0L turbocharged engine; however, The STI, on the other hand, does not disappoint in that area. Power from the Subaru s larger 2.5 liter turbocharged flat 4 comes in early and seems to stay fairly linear where the Evo s power kicks in abruptly. The STI has consistently offered more popularity among car enthusiasts due to its larger and more powerful turbocharged engine that pulls more boost, torque, and horsepower over the EVO. However, in his poem The Tuft of Flowers, Frost peculiarly compares nature and man as part of a harmonious whole. Frost explains this theory within his heroic couplets of iambic pentameter and masculine end rhymes. Many of the lines are end stopped with caesura which makes us feel as though we marching along next to him as he tromps through the field. The speaker in this poem is a bit lonely as he begins; he s out in the field to turn the hay so that it dries in the sun and can be later collected up. He thinks about the mower, there earlier in the day and also working alone, and says all men are alone, whether they work together or apart. He watches a butterfly flit about, and sees a tall tuft of flowers (butterfly weed a form of milkweed with orange or yellow flowers) that the mower left standing along a brook (23). The speaker appreciates the beauty of that tuft, and the generosity of the mower in leaving it standing when the rest of the field was mowed down by his scythe, resulting in a feeling of kinship and/or fellowship that pervades the rest of the day. This was the moment I decided to be recklessly happy. I had wanted a haircut for a long time and now I was going to get what I wanted regardless of the consequences. On November 15, 2015, I decided to cut all of my hair off which gave me the courage to be myself whilst handling the consequences, and through it all I learned that my happiness was more important than making others happy. The decision to cut my hair was not a quick one, I deliberated on what to do for years. I first got the idea to cut my hair four years ago when I was twelve. I did not mean a trim or even a few inches off. I wanted a pixie cut. This was a shock to my parents because I had always had long hair. The most I had ever cut was an inch or two. They were horrified when I cheerfully presented them with a picture of the haircut I wanted. My parents had a stunned looks on their faces, and in unison they said No . I, for the life of me, could not figure out why they reacted so badly. I began to develop a plan. I would begin the process of cutting my hair by giving myself bangs. A few weeks passed and then I did it. I grabbed a slightly dulled pair of scissors, parted my hair from left to right near the front of my face, wrapped a hair tie around it and braced myself. I took a deep breath and placed the scissors right above the tie and cut it off. Six inches of hair fell into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the distal and proximal epiphyses there would also be a loss of the cancellous bone. This is where the spongy bone is. When a bone is osteoporotic, a person becomes more susceptible to suffering from a bone fracture. On an x ray, an osteoporotic femur doesn t look as dense as a normal femur x ray. In some of them you can see the larger spaces that are made in the trabeculae of the bone. This is the part that has a spongy appearance. In a normal femur the spaces in the spongy bone are smaller and dense. In the osteoporotic bone, the spaces are larger, which makes the bone more fragile. When lateral stress is placed on the femur there are two different types of impact. The first one causes compression of the bone on the side of the bone during impact. The second one causes stretching on the opposite side of the bone during impact. Archicad Essay AutoCAD vs. ArchiCAD in Architecture Architectural design today has moved from designing by hand to designing with several different software programs that have made the job much easier. Two of the main programs in many architectural firms today are AutoCAD2000 and ArchiCAD 6.5. Both are very productive design tools but each has its own defects in certain areas of the design process. Design processes today have been reversed from designing from the inside to the outside, to designing from the outside to the inside. Most designing today is based on the actual structural appearance one will perceive from the exterior, rather than the functional use of the interior; although both are taken into consideration. AutoCAD is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One only produces a plan drawing when one has resolved the elevations and layouts. A plan really needs to grow out of the functional and aesthetic requirements of a project. Yet ArchiCAD constrains one to work in plan from the start; from this the other views are created. This is great for documentation but very constraining for the design process. AutoCAD bypasses this problem better by showing a simultaneous plan, multiple elevations and sections, and of most importance, make the editing tools available in all views. For example, a parapet wall can be created by shaping the wall in an elevational view, where as in ArchiCAD, one can either create it as a shaped library object to be inserted where required or construct a false roof of the right height and pitch to which the wall can be trimmed. This demonstrates that AutoCAD is easier to use in this aspect. The current sections and elevations in AutoCAD are only usable to trace over because they are missing a proper layer structure and the possibility to be edited while still linked to the model. For instance, one should be able to add the windowsills on the elevations, even if they do not appear in the three dimensional mode. Or one should be able to compositionally crosshatch an elevation and have the hatch adjusted if the model is changed. By Mantegbosh Letyibelu Irving, Poe, and Hawthorne were arguably some of the most popular writers of the 19th century (Dincer 223; Lauter 2505). All three of them are known for their short essays and their advocacy to make writing a full fledged and legitimate profession. Their writings show that they were hugely influenced by the Romantic Movement (romanticism); a movement in art, literature, music, philosophy, politics and culture towards focusing on the individual, the subjective, and the spontaneous (Dincer 218). Romanticist writing encouraged contemplation and self awareness, direct contact with nature, and a focus on and an exploration of inner feelings (Dincer 223). Yet, they had distinct writing style, focus, and theme. While Irving was more of a light romantic writer, a writing style characterized by optimism, Poe and Hawthorne are widely considered dark romantic Authors whose writings were characterized by pessimism that sees the world as full of dark, evil, suffering, horror, and mystery. While Irving s writing focused more on satire and humor, Poe Hawthorne s writing was more about evil, crime, sin, and mystery. Moreover, Irving seem to be nostalgic aristocrat with huge interest in the landscape, folklore, and the past (2506), whereas Poe and Hawthorne had a contrary view of the past (Liptak). • 37. How Electricity Is Produced By Using Coal These days, most of us tend to take electricity for granted. If one were to be asked where it comes from, you would most likely get responses from all over, with a common response being, Out of the sockets in the wall! In this paper I will be giving a very brief overview of how electricity is produced, specifically from coal. Generating electricity requires a fuel source, and the fuel source for both EKP and DP L is coal. About 60% of the electricity nationwide is produced by using coal. Coal arrives mainly by a barge, but also by rail and truck. Barges typically deliver around 1,500 tons of coal, which is enough to keep a plant running for a couple of hours. A plant uses around 21,000 tons of coal each day, so over 1,000,000 tons of coal is stockpiled next to the plant. A device called a stacker reclaimer scoops coal onto a quarter mile long conveyor that can transport up to 900 tons of coal into the plant each hour. Once inside the plant, up to a thirty hour supply of coal can be stored in bunkers. Coal moves from the bunkers to feeders to be measured and moved to pulverizers. Coal enters the pulverizer and spins in a large drum where hundreds of steel balls grind it into a fine powder. Now a fine powder, the coal leaves the pulverizers and heads to the boiler. About 335 tons of coal can be pulverized per hour. Large fans add warm air to the powdery coal and blow it into the boiler. The boiler has miles of tubes filled with high quality water. Once ... • 39. The Effects Of Climate Change On The Earth Essay I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived (Thoreau, 66). In two decades of life, I have struggled to find anything superior to a forest path for the endeavor of self reflection and growth. I have been awestruck at the vastness of the Blue Ridge mountains and entranced by the moon s gentle glow permeating a midnight canopy. Although I treasure these sublime experiences, they do not motivate me to advocate for a sustainable society. Climate change is a byproduct of humanity s unprecedented impact on the planet and it threatens the sublime natural spaces that many environmentalists hold dear. With the impending threats of sea level rise, super storms, food shortages, and extinction, environmentalists must find a new course of action. If the worst manifestations of climate change are to be prevented, the movement must more effectively engage the public and facilitate a reduction of carbon emissions and material waste. At the root of this issue lies environmentalism s failure to embrace a single conception of nature. As the movement lacks a consensus on nature, it has no uniformity of rhetoric or singular goal. Some environmentalists wish to preserve sublime wilderness, others fight to prevent ecological collapse, while still others wish simply to save nature. Whatever their motives for participation, environmentalists must unify behind one conception ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Gorilla Beringei Beringei And Mountain Gorilla Introduction: The Gorilla beringei beringei or mountain gorilla, was first discovered on October 17th 1902, by a German officer named Captain Robert von Beringe (Berggorilla and Direkthilfe, 2002). Mountain gorillas play a large role in it s particular ecosystem through consumption the gorillas control and maintain vegetation that is vital for a healthy environment not only for the primate but also other species that live in the environment as well. Since the discovery of the mountain gorilla much fascination has been drawn toward the species. However, the gentle creature s population has had a sharp decline from Rwanda s belief in sumu, poaching, human disease, and unregulated tourism. In efforts to revive the species population from extinction, persistent activism through worldly foundations are helping protect the mountain gorilla species. Von Beringe discovered the primate on the summits of the Virunga Volcanoes (Berggorilla and Direkthilfe, 2000). The officer described the mountain gorilla as to be a large manlike ape, that was tall in stature (about 1 1/2 meters tall), and weighed over 200 pounds (Schaller, 2010). The mountain gorilla physical characteristics from other subspecies of primate differs by: lengthy hair, jaw, and teeth, as well as shorter arms (http://wwf congobasin.org/, 2010). • 43. Franchising Is A Major Driver Of Business Development And... Franchising According to Hill, Jones, and Schilling (2015), franchising is a strategy in which the franchisor or the founding company grants the franchisees, the purchasing company, the right to use the franchisor s name, reputation, and business model in return for a franchise fee and often a percentage fee and often a percentage of the profit. The business must operate under strict guidelines, follow the rules, regulations, and standards given by the founding franchisors (Hill, et al 2015, p. 182). This creates a business relationship between the two. According to Ribeiro, D., Akehurst, G. P. • 50. Battle of Guadalcanal Some of the bloodiest fight of World War II came in the Pacific. Much of that fighting came at the Battle of Guadalcanal. A remote island in the Solomons Island chain, Guadalcanal was not thought of as important, prior to 1942. For several reasons, Guadalcanal was the most significant battle of the war in the Pacific. The Battle of Guadalcanal was the first offensive the United States took in World War II. Because of its location, Guadalcanal pushed back the Japanese defensive ring, and put the U.S. in an aggressive mindset. As an intangible factor, the victory at Guadalcanal provided a much needed morale boost to U.S. servicemen, who had not had a decisive triumph against the Japanese. Most importantly, the U.S. gained control of an important airstrip on Guadalcanal that the Japanese had been trying to utilize. Guadalcanal was the first American offensive of World War II. American efforts in the Pacific were heavily impeded by the Europe First strategy during World War II (Gray 317). President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill both saw Europe as being more important than Asia. Nazi Germany was viewed as the major threat to Western ideals. Neither the U.S. nor Europe feared a Japanese invasion. The American Army would send the majority of its forces into Europe. The U.S. Navy had some of its ships act as convoys to protect merchant ships, but most of the aircraft carriers were in the Pacific. The United States Marine Corps (USMC) was entirely ...
