Evaluating the Economy of Austria Essay
Evaluating the Economy of Austria
In 1995 Austria joined the European Union (EU), and in 1999 they joined the European Monetary
Union. The use of a common currency the Euro has facilitated trade and promoted economic stability
for U.S. companies to manage pricing, balance accounts, and move products into Austria and
throughout the EU member nations ( globaledge , 2003). An unfavorable exchange rate for U.S.
exporters turned positive in 2003 making the U.S. able to compete on more favorable terms in the near
future.
Current economic reforms in Austria are increasing the attractiveness of foreign investment. There are
several advantages to conducting business in Austria that will be particularly relevant in the year 2004.

exports could be negatively affected
In 2004 the addition of four new members to the EU could create increased competition for U.S.
companies
In addition to the aspects of the Austrian market that affect marketing and management there are other
factors that must be examined. These factors affecting whether or not to conduct business in another
country include: the physical forces that affect a country economically, various economic and
socioeconomic forces, sociocultural forces, and competitive and distributive forces.
PHYSICAL FORCES
It is vital to examine the physical forces of a country including but not limited to the following: the
location of the country, its political relationships, topography, climate, natural resources, and dynamic
physical resources. The evaluation of these forces allows a more clear view of the business potential in
a chosen country. Austria s location is unique in the sense that it is a land locked country. It is located

Portrayal Of Women In Othello
To be or Not to be Patriarchal (An analysis of Shakespeare s plays Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and
Macbeth and his portrayal of the treatment of women throughout each play) Women, the foundation of
life and creators of the world. From early times women were said to be weak, needed to be controlled
by men, or not capable of making decisions for themselves. Women bring life into the world, they
carry the leaders of the world, past, present, or future in their womb. They care and nurture men to
become leaders, doctors, lawyers, singers, etc. Men would not exist if women were not created. Yet
the foul image of them being weak, or close minded, or even an embarrassment has become the norm
for life since the beginning of time. Shakespeare, present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gertrude from the very beginning is downgraded, seen as vial and cruel for remarrying her late
husband s brother. Hamlet says himself, Frailty thy name is woman! (Hamlet 1.2.146). He instantly
calls her weak, incestuous, and wishes her death as well as his own for bearing witness to her betrayal.
Shakespeare also includes dear and innocent Ophelia in his patriarchal stereotype of the weaker
woman . Motherless and complete circumscribed by the men around her, Ophelia has been shaped to
conform to external demands, to reflect others desires (Dane). Ophelia having lost her brother, her
father, and the love of her life condemns herself to madness and takes her own life. She is seen as
weak and frail for taking the easy way out. Yet is this not Hamlet s same problem? He lost his father
and he wished his own death more than anything, and she did the one thing he could not do to himself,
take her own life. Does that make her weak? Maybe mentally, but she endured much more pain than
Hamlet before she took her pain away. Hamlet would have done the same if he

Mrs Chan In The Mood For Love
The main female character, Mrs. Chan appeared in qipao from beginning to the end of the film In the
mood for love . The uses of variety of color fabrics and fine fit cutting in qipao high collar and shorter
hem, makes Mrs. Chan s symmetry of the body appears more exquisite and the various colors of qipao
incisively reflects the oriental feminine charm and also suggest the rich and exquisite emotional world
of the character.
The color of the cheongsam is endowed with the color of emotion, Mrs. Chan s representation of
various qipao throughout the film displays her noble personality, at the same time; the change of color
of the qipao in her body indirectly reflects the development of the plot and the change of the
psychological activities.
According to the film, when Mrs. Chan going to work or moving house, she always wear qipao with
the color combination of white and black, white and blue, and pale yellow and white; such plain colors
are greatly coordinated with the dark hued surrounding environment. However, there are some
variations, for instances, it appeared several times in the film that Mrs. Chan was carrying lunch boxes
to buy rice in a small stall with black qipao, which suggest her outer and inner loneliness; when Mr.
Chan and Mrs. Chan have confirmed that their lover had an extramarital affair, Mrs. Chan went to the
hotel to meet Zhou Muyun (the person she has affair with) with red qipao, a style that always goes
against her and contrasts sharply with the plain color qipao that she always liked, which is actually a
metaphor for the emergence of love between them. Mrs. Chan took advantage of the landlord s
absence to Zhou Muyun s home with yellow qipao, symbolizing the pleasant and warm atmosphere
around them; and when Mrs. Chan decided to run away with Zhou Muyun, the qipao on her body
turned green green is vital and symbolic of life and it is a metaphor of Mrs. Chan make up her mind to
start a new life with Zhou Muyun. However, when she arrived at the hotel, Zhou Muyun had gone, the
hope representing by the green against the backdrop of red curtains, red beds, dark red walls, influence
the audiences to feel a sense of disappointment.

Food And The City Summary
With a growing world population of over seven billion, the high producing agriculture industry is
becoming detrimental to the environment by most commonly effecting the freshwater needs, soil
quality, air pollution, energy consumption, the loss of habitat, and the health of the consumers.
However, there is a solution to this problem that goes beyond just the nutritional facts: urban farming
and mass organic food production. Food and the City by Jennifer Cockrall King and Lentil
Underground: Renegade Farmers and the Future of Food in America by Liz Carlisle explores the
challenges and solutions to organic food production in the major cities and the midwest United States.
One solution to the unsustainable industrial agriculture system, urban ... Show more content on

The author describes a global food revolution that began years ago from New York and Paris to
London and Toronto. Consumers are becoming aware of the food they are purchasing at their local
grocery store and realizing the grocery store is just a facade. Many small time organic farms started
disappearing because of the mass producing large scale industrial farms which became possible after
the industrial revolution. Large scale industrial farms are producing food in large quantities with low
quality while polluting the earth and harming consumers because they are focused on one thing: profit.
It makes it difficult for grocery stores to say no to these industrial farms just because of how cheap
and convenient their product is. It also allows the grocery stores to supply produce year round that
normally would not be in season in a specific area. The sustainable factors and health of the
consumers and the planet were of no concern when it came to higher produce yields and lower costs
for both the conventional industrial farms and grocery stores. In 1996, industrial farms introduced
genetically modified crops to increase yields and make more profit. Since then, more than 70% of
foods produced contain genetically altered ingredients which has led to consumers being more prone
to illnesses like cancer, diabetes, and obesity. This idea from Food and the City makes me furious
because there are so many processed foods today that are hard to get away from. Mass industrial farms
and manufacturers have found ways to extend food s shelf life and alter the basic ingredients that
would normally be considered healthy. With all of the additives, who knows what the food actually is
and the harm it could do to your

Reflection On Stress And Anxiety
On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, I attended a Stress and Anxiety workshop at the Miller Learning
Center in room 207 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The event was hosted by University Health Center
Counseling and Psychiatric Services for personal enrichment. The purpose of this session was to learn
about new ways to manage stress and anxiety while maintaining a hectic schedule. As I entered the
room, there was a group of 30 diverse students ones who I would assume had everything under
control. It became less nerve racking as there were students ranging from freshman to seniors, boys
and girls, students of color anxiety bonded us together. Our instructor, Dr. Debra Kay Alvis, provided
a calm and kind presence: soothing her audience after their long day of stress. She broke her lecture
into two sections: science and experiment.
The first component was the scientific aspect of stress and rising cortisol levels. By educating us on
how our body is functioning, we can understand the importance of meditation and breathing exercises
on our mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Cortisol is the stress hormone that interferes with
learning and memory, it lowers immune function and bone density, increases weight gain, blood
pressure, cholesterol, heart disease, etc. This hormone alerts the adrenal glands to increase the
production of adrenaline; adrenaline is responsible for the fight or flight response in humans which
explains why we say or do things that we don t mean to. Dr. Alvis

The ecosystem health indicators strongly influenced by land use.( 7)
The most impact of land use is sedimentation and water quality.
Sedimentation
The deforestation, agriculture, resource extraction, urbanization, and infrastructure development have
a greater influence on erosion rates and sediment transport in rivers which directly affect for climate
change.
All these activities impact on sedimentation process of the River in different ways. Assessing these
impacts comprehensively is important for more effective environmental management of the river
drainage basin. The natural vegetation has been destroyed by humans and slope lands have been
cultivated. Thus, erosion is extremely high, and suspended sediment load and concentration in river.
The sedimentation, the level of riverbed has risen continuously and the water level at a given
discharge so for maintain that scientist build artificial levees higher and higher. However, in the
meantime, with the rapid development of agriculture and industry, water consumption has increased
sharply, greatly reducing the river flow. Sediment deposition in river channel depends on the
relationship between the ability of the stream flow to carry sediment and the river s load i.e., on the
amount of sediment supplied to the river from the drainage basin. Erosion and sediment control
measures reduce the amount of sediment entering the river, resulting in a

Teacher Retention Paper
All conscientious teachers are interested in their students success, believing fervently that success in
the classroom can propel success in life. Student achievement becomes the teacher s motivating force;
those devoting their lives to education do so emboldened by a recognition of education s promises and
prospects. We should never consider education a luxury; it is a necessity, writes teacher, administrator,
and researcher Anthony Muhammad (2009), adding, If the United States is to maintain its position in
the world, the quality of education and academic skills of its students must improve (p. 8). Teachers
recognize that student success is to a great degree dependent on teacher success. No teacher sets out to

Credit History Essay
Credit history is a record of a borrower s responsible repayment of debts. When an American customer
fills
out an application for credit from a bank, credit card company, or a store, there information is
forwarded to a credit bureau. These organizations match the name, address, and other identifying
information on the credit applicant with
information found in the files of the credit bureaus. The gathered records are then used by lenders to
determine an individual s credit worthiness that is determining an individual s ability and track record
of repaying a debt. Lenders will extend credit to individuals who have paid consumer debt obligations
regularly and on time, while those
who missed payments are more likely to be declined.
How are credit scores, also known as FICO scores, calculated?
Payment history makes up 35% of the credit score/FICO score. A record of negative information can
lower a
consumer s credit rating or score negative events such as charge offs, collections, late payments,
repossessions, foreclosures, settlements, bankruptcies and judgments can affect the FICO score
greatly. Newer offenses have a greater affect than older offenses, and many is worse than a few. Debt
and debt history makes up 30% of the FICO score.
Three types of debt, revolving debt, installment debt, and open debt all contribute to an individual s
credit score. Revolving debt is credit card debt, and while home equity lines of credit have revolving
terms, the bulk of debt

A Report On The Sun
Everyone loves waking up at eight in the morning to go to an auction, particularly a college student
whose classes don t begin until noon, right? Wrong, especially one who has never been to an auction,
let alone woken up at eight in the morning since mid August. That morning, I was unaware of my
ability to learn so much about the microscopic Eastern Shore from a hoarder s garage on steroids.
Surprisingly, it s possible for a place that only holds eight percent of Maryland s population to be
hectic, but also peaceful and eccentric; its inhabitants could be competitive, friendly, and also rude, all
at the same time.
Regardless of where I wanted to be, I was in Crumpton, MD on the last Wednesday of September. The
sun is nowhere to be seen while drizzling rain is stirring the dirt ground into mud, but regardless of
how dark and gloomy the morning felt, the colossal yellowish green building managed to lighten the
mood. Its base is compiled of cement blocks and the roof is slanted, painted in a forest green to match
the large letters that read Dixson s Furniture Auction. In front of the auction warehouse sat items that
belonged to someone at some point, but were in search of a new owner. Each item was systematically
scattered throughout the lot. Most items are what you would expect to see: wooden chairs, wardrobes,
and even some tables.
Suddenly, a short, skinny black man asked if he could be of any assistance. I kindly responded no. The
man quickly vanishes into the

The overall goal of these counseling sessions was to assess the quality and accuracy of pharmacist s
patient counseling of herbal and supplemental products. The initial pilot study was of small scale and
20 out of 34 pharmacists completed the PC G/ PC HDS centered counseling sessions with their
pharmacist. The pharmacists recruited for these initial sessions were selected based on their having a
variety of experience with counseling patients on the use of herbal and supplemental products. The
subsequent study, which was larger in scale was conducted using pharmacists that had professional
experience in counseling patients and knowledge of herbal and supplemental products. 179 out of 330
patients completed the validation large scale study (Lin et al., 2010).
Parameters were set for the pharmacists, to guide the patient counseling interactions. Patient
interviews were designed as both study specific knowledge, attitude, behavior (KAB) surveys as well
as Likert type surveys. Specific counseling dialogue was expected to be centered around three main
categories of patient interviewing, as set by APhA and other literature. These categories included
fostering relationships/ information gathering, assessment and plan/follow up (Lin et al. , 2010).
Ultimately, there were eleven items that fell under the three main categories that guided the
pharmacists further in their line of questioning.

What is biofeedback?
Biofeedback is a method of treatment used to help individuals control processes of the body that they
would normally not have control over such as heartbeat and physiological processes which are
triggered as a result of our emotions. Some examples are heart beat intervals, blood pressure, and
muscle tension. Biofeedback focuses on learning how to control processes of the body through the use
of relaxation techniques that help patients develop the ability to become more aware of their bodily
functions in order to hep control and treat health related issues. Using biofeedback can help
individuals regulate and control their bodies more effectively which improves health and well being.

Irish Nationalist Movement Essay
The Irish and the British have had a long and complicated relationship for hundreds of years. After
World War I, the British Empire started to dissolve, resulting in independent nations around the globe.
However, Ireland still remained under British rule, which frustrated the Irish for a variety of reasons,
the main one being religious differences (Catholic vs. Protestant) between the Irish and the British.
The Anglo Irish war started in 1919 was a result of the growing frustration and the Irish nationalist
movement that emerged from said frustration. The Irish nationalist movement was started by a group
of revolutionaries known as the IRA (Irish Republican Army) who believed that the only way Ireland
could achieve independence was through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nuclear Power in the Soviet Union
The Soviet Union, after World War II, had begun building many facilities for nuclear reprocessing
using many radioactive components. The Russian government, being behind in the nuclear era,
decided they needed to move quickly and start producing a sustainable nuclear chain reaction with
secrecy. One of these facilities they built was so discreet it wasn t on any official maps at that time. In
the town of Ozyorsk, Russia they built the Mayak nuclear fuel processing complex. This particular
accident has been titled and associated with Kryshtym because that was the closest town on an official
map that they could categorize it with. They built this complex between 1945 and 1948 to produce
plutonium for nuclear weapons. Since they had to move fast at building this complex, as well as poor
understanding or little education of nuclear safety, and major disregards for human wellness, the
systems were poorly built. They used what is called an open cycle cooling system, in which they
pumped the water back and forth into their water source. Their main water source was Lake Karachay,
as well as the Tech River. All 6 reactors that the Mayak nuclear complex had used the open cycle
cooling system. They used huge lids weighing 160 tons for the tops of these radioactive components
and systems, and even had them buried 8.2 meters (27 feet) under ground. With these cooling systems
being built with the eager notion to be ahead in the nuclear era, they weren t prepared for any kind of

Analysis Of David Ogilvy s The Consumer Isn t A Moron
Professional Advertiser David Ogilvy
The consumer isn t a moron. She is your wife. A strongly worded quote from David
Ogilvy highlights the importance of the relationship and connection necessary between and advertiser
and his or her consumer. Ogilvy, like many others, started from the bottom and worked tirelessly to
the top. Born in Oxford,
England on June 23, 1911, David would live the next twenty seven years in and around his hometown.
David studied at two different colleges and ended up graduating from neither Fettes College nor Christ
Church. Going nowhere fast, David began a career working in a kitchen.
Not long into his career there did he realize the job description did not match his big ideas for what his
life was supposed to be like. David spoke the following words about his kitchen work: If I stayed at
the Majestic I would have faced years of slave wages, fiendish pressure, and perpetual exhaustion.
Quitting this career opened the door for his big change in the advertising world. ( David Ogilvy
Biography | Ogilvy Mather )
Ogilvy began selling stoves to everyone. Nothing out of the ordinary or overpriced expensive
appliances, but a simple generic cooking stove became David s first encounter with consumers face to

limited himself when the sale came down to a consumer. Whether the consumer was a religious

Blog 4 SlotsMillion steps into the world of virtual reality

Raphael s Last Supper
Art is a beauty that can capture the essence of something, but also can be interpreted differently
depending on an individual s perspective. Art can be expressive, but it takes an artist to create their
own definition of beauty while the audience interprets it. By using the year that Raphael s School of
Athens was created as a mark for artwork that was created before and after that time frame, I have
chosen the Last Supper as a piece that was created before and the Mona Lisa as a piece that was
created after. Each individual piece of art expresses a different idea and belief, sometimes with a
common or sometimes without a common broader significance.

This is an oil painting that was also created by Leonardo da Vinci, however, it is determined that is
was created between the year 1503 1506, but was continued and was entirely finished by 1517. For
certain, it has been painted during 1503 1506, but an art historian, Martin Kemp, said there was an
uncertainty with confirming the actual date of when Leonardo s piece was actually completed. Giorgio
Vasari, Leonardo s contemporary, had mentioned how it has been apiece left unfinished and was
regretted that it was never been completed in one sitting. As King Francois I invited Leonardo to work
near the king s castle, it is believed that during that time, he continued to work on this Mona Lisa
piece until 1516 or 1517. Mona Lisa is an oil painting on a poplar wood panel and it is believed that
the subject of the portrait is possibly Lisa Ghenardini the wife of Francesco del Giocondo. The
painting illustrates a woman in a half body portrait, with a distant landscape backdrop. In the painting,
it is noted that the sitter s general position is vertical, with her arms folded as a sign of a reserved
posture, with a gaze only towards to her observer, with a warm, silent, look of communication. Her
face appears to be brightly lit, whereas her hair, veil, and shadows were slightly darker. With Leonardo
s soft blending; it had created two main, well known features. This portrait is well known for the sitter
s faint smile, which is believed to reflect Leonardo s idea and vision of connecting humanity and
nature. Aside from that, it is also believed that the smile is an indication of a hidden secret. Due to the
expression of the subject in the portrait, it is a continuing fascination and is a great influence to many
other paintings. Additionally, the Mona Lisa is one of his most well known portraits due to the
mysterious subject and the features within the painting

Requirements for a Career as Licensed Funeral Director Essay
Your cell phone rings in the middle of the night and you are notified that you have to go to work. After
hastily getting ready, you find yourself walking down a hallway; you turn into an empty doorway and
enter a dark, cold room that is filled with lifeless bodies waiting to be attended to. This may be an
unfavorable situation to many, but to a funeral director, it is just another day at work. In order to
become a funeral director, one must be genuinely interested, willing to fulfill the job requirements, be
able to cope with death on a daily basis, and still maintain a positive outlook on life.
Usually, people take on the profession of becoming a funeral director, or mortician, because of
exposure to a family business or pure interest. An ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They must also attain a state license in order to practice what they have studied (Education Portal.
2014.). Internships are not always paid so one must really love what they are instructed to do in order
to pursue their goals of becoming a mortician. Not many people are willing to work for free for such
an elongated period of time. In New Jersey, funeral directors are also embalmers. In other states, it
may be more common to find that the funeral director and embalmer are two different people (Park
Mustacchio. 2013). Kevin Sinclair, an embalmer of twenty two years, advocates for a person to have a
certain personality in order to become an embalmer (Bradley.2013). He does this because like
everyone may know, it can be traumatic (Bradley.2013.). Anyone may be want to become a funeral
director or an embalmer, but it requires a lot of emotional stability to deal with many dead bodies that
have been distorted because of an accident. Another mortician humorously said from his past
experiences, If you can be a successful waiter, you can be a successful funeral director (Giang. 2013.).
The comparison between the two occupations may open one s eyes to a different kind of perspective.
For example, a waiter would be accustomed to a pizza being placed in an oven just as a funeral
director would be accustomed to a corpse being placed in a crematory to be cremated. Dealing with
death, more so cadavers, takes a large amount of self discipline and

Olaudah Equiano Summary
I had the pleasure of reading The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, Or Gustavus
Vassa, The African, for this week s assignment. Equiano is one of the most well known slaves who
had the opportunity to get educated because he was able live a different lifestyle rather than the one
that most slaves experienced. I deeply admire his effort to share his views on slavery because it was
during a time when blacks did not have much of a voice in society.
One of the reasons why it was very engaging to read this narrative because he informed the reader of
the culture in his homeland, which gave me an idea of Equiano s previous life before slavery. Based
on his descriptive language about his own African culture, it seems like Equiano

The New Frontier
The business of today have evolved to a whole new frontier. The new frontier is no longer a physical
interface, but has shifted towards the internet scene. The internet offers many new advantages, and
because of this, it has drawn an increasing number of aspiring entrepreneurs. For my business, I would
take full advantage of the fortune of having the internet at my disposal, and follow the path of creating
an online retailer primarily focused on clothing, and fashion. I am fully aware of the fact that there are
numerous online retailers that are currently available, and that competition will be fierce. Because of
this, I will need to use everything that I have learned so far in the business world in order to
distinguish myself from me competitors. The initial step for starting my business would be for me to
study from successful online retailers, and try to analyze the reason behind their success. I will then
use this knowledge to apply it to my own site. Although it will be challenging, I will try my best to
satisfy my customers by being reliable, and committed. After all, Amazon s success can be primarily
attributed towards the excellent relationship, and commitment that they have towards their customers.
As mentioned before, it is important that I take advantage of the technological advances that have
become available to my generation. As many successful e retailers have done, I will create an official
account on various social media platforms such as Instagram,

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
Jon Krakauer presents Into The Wild a tragic tale of a young ambitious man who is motivated to go
into the wilderness and discover his true identity.Jon krakauer conveys many messages to his readers
through Chris McCandless, and his messages often offer a warning to society.we will furture idenitfy
how the author delievers the warning to society and what effect it can have upon society today.Three
of the very important messages he empatizes on are the societies influence on people, the essence of
nature and the importance of fogriving someone.
Firstly we see how jon krakauer uses people and societies influence as a prime example to pass a very
important message. As we know American society seems to center around the idea of american dream
of going to the best university and to buy a new car, a new house overall to buy anything and
everything to look superior to others. This quote was said by chris which completly descirbes our
materalistic society So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the
initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and
conservatism. 56 57 Through the character Chris Mccandless we see how troubled the author is by
materalism and we also see authors disagreement to materalism when Chris denies his parents offer to
buy him a new car and by putting the strong emphasis on materalism the writer makes the readers

Authentic Leadership Paper
Authentic Leadership approach is kind of a leadership approach where the leader is defined as
genuine, moral and character based leaders. ( (Bill George, 2016). Authentic leaders are always true to
their core values. The leader may or may not demand or request particular behavior or actions, but she
will demonstrate them, and expect or imply that others will follow. According to Bill George of
Huffinpost, authentic leaders demonstrate five qualities, Understanding their purpose, Practicing solid
values, Leading with heart, Establishing connected relationships, Demonstrating self discipline. (Bill

Servant leaders are very good listeners, it s their number one characteristic. (Spears, n.d.) Servant

Pneumocystis Essay
1. What is PJP?
PJP stands for Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia which is caused by a fungus called Pneumocystis
jiroveci. This fungus is found in the environment and many people have already been exposed to it at
a young age; however, if the person is healthy then he/she will not become sick. In a person with a
weakened immune system, Pneumocystis jiroveci can cause a lung infection making it an
opportunistic infection. https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/000671.htm 2. Differentiate between HIV
positive status and AIDS.
HIV is a virus. AIDS is a condition or set of symptoms that can develop in a HIV positive person after
a prolonged period of time. You can have HIV and not have aids, but if you have AIDS then you must
also be infected with HIV. Because HIV is a virus, it can be passed from person to person but AIDS
cannot. When a person becomes infected with HIV, the virus begins to attack their immune system and
render it weak. Over time the immune system can no longer fight off diseases that it once could which
can eventually lead to developing AIDS. Symptoms for AIDS can vary from person to person
depending on the opportunistic infection in which they have acquired. ... Show more content on

The Melancholic Tone of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe Essay
The Melancholic Tone of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven, is representing Poe s own introvertedness, which is strangely moving
and attractive to the reader. In his essay entitled The Philosophy of Composition, Poe reveals his intent
in writing The Raven and also describes the work of writing the poem as being carefully calculated in
all aspects. Of all melancholy topics, Poe wished to use the most understood, death, specifically death
involving a beautiful woman.
The tone in Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven represents a painful state of mind, a mind that is vulnerable
to madness that is brought upon by the death of his beloved lady. Which is representing Poe s own
personal problems, with those of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The raven patronizes Poe that he will never see his lost love again when uttering, forget this lost
Lenore (Thompson, 83). Alcohol taunts Poe into never ending depression and caused Poe to have a
life long problem with alcoholism, which led to his death. In a similar way that the alcohol explored
Poe s inner devastation, the raven gives a look into the narrator s innermost fears that he will never see
his Lenore again. In the first stanza, questioning from what direction the tapping came, he throws open
the door, the narrators nemesis not to be found. In fact it was some other realm that must have been
opened up about his lost love and the noise, which is driving him insane. The narrator then opens the
shutter, which could be interpreted as opening his soul to the outside world. To his surprise, he
discovers a raven, a beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door (Thompson, 53). The
raven directs all further action in the poem, it ridicules and patronizes the narrator throughout the
poem and its evil force creates a sense of suffering and anguish within the character. The climax of the
poem is when the narrator faces his confused and disordered world and in the narrator s madness he
cries out, Get thee back into the tempest and the Night s Plutonian shore! (Thompson, 98).
Poe s use of symbolism was influential in making the literary reputation of The Raven . The raven is

Rise-Oh Rise Great Dairy Cobra
Rise oh rise great dairy Cobra. The Dinner Party is a short passage that has a variety of characters and
their personalities all help influence the theme of the passage. The characters include a colonial
official along with his wife, army officers, government attaches, and their wives as well, and an
American naturalist. With the setting being India while it was ruled by the British the characteristics of
these people make the story very unique. Early on we realize that there is a disagreement between a
young girl and the colonel, which is about how women are more afraid of anything than men. This is
soon settled by a King Cobra scaring the colonel rather than all the women who sat still as statues.
That moment is where the reader realizes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, we could look at the colonial official. In the text it says, A woman s unfailing reaction in any
crisis is to scream. And while a man may feel like it he has that ounce more of never control than a
woman has. This would be only typical in that macho tough guy type of man who thinks that they are
superior to woman. With this evidence we can clarify the colonel official as stubborn. Next, let s take
a look at, Mrs. Wynnes (the hostess of this party). In the text it says, Mrs. Wynnes, how did you know
that cobra was in the room? A faint smile lights up the woman s face as she replies: because it was
crawling across my foot. Who could be so calm with a cobra, which can at any moment inject one
with venom, crawling across their veins? We can clarify that Mrs. Wynnes is a very spiritual person
with multiple techniques to keep clam. Finally, let s take a look at the American Naturalist. In the text
it says, The American does not join in the argument but watches the other guests. Just a minute, Mrs.
Wynnes, how did you know that cobra was in the room? The American naturalist doesn t tend to the
colonel who would most likely get himself killed; instead his curiosity takes over him to know how
the cobra was only sensed by the hostess. We can clarify that the American naturalist is a curious
person at the most. Now that we can easily identify the personalities of each character let s move onto
to try to find the actual meaning of the

Catching Fire And Mockingjay Comparison
Life is tough. We all have decisions to make and consequences to consider. Will we survive? Or will it
all come crashing down? Catching Fire and Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins are two books in the
Hunger Games trilogy showing readers the life of Katniss Everdeen. This is shown in different ways
through each story. In Catching Fire, the author shows the lesson through Katniss s interaction with
characters. She has returned home from the 74th Hunger Games and now has to decide between Gale
and Peeta. She has feelings for both, but in District 12, it is a struggle to survive and her life will
depend on who she chooses to be with. In Mockingjay, betrayal is a common part of survival is shown

To start, Katniss betrays the Capitols orders and leads the rebellion of districts to fight and start a
revolution. This is betraying President Snow and his orders. Peeta, this is your home. None of your
family has been heard of since the bombing. Twelve is gone. And you re calling for a cease fire? I look
across the emptiness. There s no one left to hear you. (Mockingjay 129) This shows that the Capitol is
horrible and Katniss is calling them out on it. They brainwashed Peeta and she is trying to explain to
him and all of the districts why they need to rebel. Katniss and the rest of the rebellion are trying to
betray the Capitol. They want to survive and live a free life. They are doing this through rebellion. As
explained previously, Catching Fire shows that betrayal is a common part of survival, and so does
Mockingjay. AT the end of the story, I am Katniss Everdeen... I brought down the Capitol....President
snow has been tried and found guilty, sentenced to execution. (Mockingjay 353) This shows that the
rebellion succeeded in taking down the Capitol and betraying them. This let all of the citizens of
Panem survive. They betrayed the Capitol and can live on their own now. Both Catching Fire and
Mockingjay taught the reader that betrayal is a common part of survival but in different

We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks
Gwendolyn Brooks wrote the poem We Real Cool in 1959 and was published in1960, right in the
middle of the civil rights movement and only a couple years after the Brown v. Board of Education
trial, which challenged racial segregation in schools. In the poem, a group of kid s drops out of school
allowing them to have a lot of free time on their hands which often leads to criminal activities. Many
have interpreted this poem in different ways. One possible interpretation that I feel strong about is
how African American s struggled with segregation, making it almost impossible for them to receive a
decent education resulting in future filled with struggles to make ends meet, ultimately leading them
to give up and drop out of school. It may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using this sentence structure Brooks conveys the level of education the pool players were able to
achieve.
The first two lines prior to the actual poem describe a group of seven pool players. During the 1950s
pool halls were a popular hangout, mostly for delinquents who would use the hall as a cover for
partaking in illegal activities. The world golden is often used to represent innocence and being young.
The word shovel is a used to represent a digging of some sort. The combination of golden and shovel
represents the kids burying their innocence and youth away for a life of crime. So already in the first
two lines prior to the actual poem we can already tell that there s seven young kids wasting their youth
and innocence away at a pool hall while they should be at school learning. Throughout the poem you
can see how not being in school has affected their grammar and made them illiterate, therefor making
them seem the opposite of what they believe, uncool. Once the poem actually begins, one of the pool
players is narrating he starts of by saying, We real cool. This incorrect grammar structure which shows
how uneducated they are since they aren t in school. Each line ends with the word we which is the
start of the next sentence, however by having the first word on a different line, there is an unintended
pause that doesn t belong there. This makes the poem sound choppy between lines, the we at the end

Advertising Strategies Essay
Advertising Strategies
When an advertiser places one of their advertisements into a newspaper, they want their advertisement
to appeal to the readers of that particular magazine. They could have the exact same message, but
considering their audience, they could make it more effective if they use a different strategy to market
their product. This is very common for advertising strategies to change when the content of the
magazine changes. You can relate the way that the magazine producers choose their ads by when
Steve Craig says that program producers and schedulers must consider the target audience needs of

advertisement, there is a professional fisherman standing in a professional fishing boat which is
sponsored by Evan Williams. He is also wearing a jacket that has the Evan Williams logo across the
front. He is clearly is more special then the average Joe seen on the left side of the advertisement. In
order for the professional fisherman to look better, that half of the ad is printed in color to give it a
more lively feeling. At the bottom of the picture, the words the better it gets. are there creating a
suggestion to the reader that if you have the patience, things will always become better. To tie the
picture back into a promotional opportunity for Evan Williams, there is a picture of a bottle of Evan
Williams whiskey in between the two pictures claiming that it is Extra Aged . In the bottom right hand
corner of the advertisement, it also says Evan Williams. Aged longer to taste smoother. The ad is
trying to sell the fact that because the fisherman waited a long time, he turned out to become a
professional, and since the whiskey they make was aged, it also became better, just like the fisherman.
The reason that they chose to connect the fisherman to the quality of their whiskey was because they
anticipated a lot of males that read Sports Illustrated to be sports minded and be just like that average
Joe fisherman. Evan

  • 4. Portrayal Of Women In Othello To be or Not to be Patriarchal (An analysis of Shakespeare s plays Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth and his portrayal of the treatment of women throughout each play) Women, the foundation of life and creators of the world. From early times women were said to be weak, needed to be controlled by men, or not capable of making decisions for themselves. Women bring life into the world, they carry the leaders of the world, past, present, or future in their womb. They care and nurture men to become leaders, doctors, lawyers, singers, etc. Men would not exist if women were not created. Yet the foul image of them being weak, or close minded, or even an embarrassment has become the norm for life since the beginning of time. Shakespeare, present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gertrude from the very beginning is downgraded, seen as vial and cruel for remarrying her late husband s brother. Hamlet says himself, Frailty thy name is woman! (Hamlet 1.2.146). He instantly calls her weak, incestuous, and wishes her death as well as his own for bearing witness to her betrayal. Shakespeare also includes dear and innocent Ophelia in his patriarchal stereotype of the weaker woman . Motherless and complete circumscribed by the men around her, Ophelia has been shaped to conform to external demands, to reflect others desires (Dane). Ophelia having lost her brother, her father, and the love of her life condemns herself to madness and takes her own life. She is seen as weak and frail for taking the easy way out. Yet is this not Hamlet s same problem? He lost his father and he wished his own death more than anything, and she did the one thing he could not do to himself, take her own life. Does that make her weak? Maybe mentally, but she endured much more pain than Hamlet before she took her pain away. Hamlet would have done the same if he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The uses of variety of color fabrics and fine fit cutting in qipao high collar and shorter hem, makes Mrs. Chan s symmetry of the body appears more exquisite and the various colors of qipao incisively reflects the oriental feminine charm and also suggest the rich and exquisite emotional world of the character. The color of the cheongsam is endowed with the color of emotion, Mrs. Chan s representation of various qipao throughout the film displays her noble personality, at the same time; the change of color of the qipao in her body indirectly reflects the development of the plot and the change of the psychological activities. According to the film, when Mrs. Chan going to work or moving house, she always wear qipao with the color combination of white and black, white and blue, and pale yellow and white; such plain colors are greatly coordinated with the dark hued surrounding environment. However, there are some variations, for instances, it appeared several times in the film that Mrs. Chan was carrying lunch boxes to buy rice in a small stall with black qipao, which suggest her outer and inner loneliness; when Mr. Chan and Mrs. Chan have confirmed that their lover had an extramarital affair, Mrs. Chan went to the hotel to meet Zhou Muyun (the person she has affair with) with red qipao, a style that always goes against her and contrasts sharply with the plain color qipao that she always liked, which is actually a metaphor for the emergence of love between them. Mrs. Chan took advantage of the landlord s absence to Zhou Muyun s home with yellow qipao, symbolizing the pleasant and warm atmosphere around them; and when Mrs. Chan decided to run away with Zhou Muyun, the qipao on her body turned green green is vital and symbolic of life and it is a metaphor of Mrs. Chan make up her mind to start a new life with Zhou Muyun. Food And The City Summary With a growing world population of over seven billion, the high producing agriculture industry is becoming detrimental to the environment by most commonly effecting the freshwater needs, soil quality, air pollution, energy consumption, the loss of habitat, and the health of the consumers. However, there is a solution to this problem that goes beyond just the nutritional facts: urban farming and mass organic food production. One solution to the unsustainable industrial agriculture system, urban ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author describes a global food revolution that began years ago from New York and Paris to London and Toronto. Consumers are becoming aware of the food they are purchasing at their local grocery store and realizing the grocery store is just a facade. Many small time organic farms started disappearing because of the mass producing large scale industrial farms which became possible after the industrial revolution. Large scale industrial farms are producing food in large quantities with low quality while polluting the earth and harming consumers because they are focused on one thing: profit. It makes it difficult for grocery stores to say no to these industrial farms just because of how cheap and convenient their product is. It also allows the grocery stores to supply produce year round that normally would not be in season in a specific area. The sustainable factors and health of the consumers and the planet were of no concern when it came to higher produce yields and lower costs for both the conventional industrial farms and grocery stores. In 1996, industrial farms introduced genetically modified crops to increase yields and make more profit. Since then, more than 70% of foods produced contain genetically altered ingredients which has led to consumers being more prone to illnesses like cancer, diabetes, and obesity. This idea from Food and the City makes me furious because there are so many processed foods today that are hard to get away from. Mass industrial farms and manufacturers have found ways to extend food s shelf life and alter the basic ingredients that would normally be considered healthy. With all of the additives, who knows what the food actually is and the harm it could do to your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The event was hosted by University Health Center Counseling and Psychiatric Services for personal enrichment. The purpose of this session was to learn about new ways to manage stress and anxiety while maintaining a hectic schedule. It became less nerve racking as there were students ranging from freshman to seniors, boys and girls, students of color anxiety bonded us together. Our instructor, Dr. Debra Kay Alvis, provided a calm and kind presence: soothing her audience after their long day of stress. She broke her lecture into two sections: science and experiment. The first component was the scientific aspect of stress and rising cortisol levels. By educating us on how our body is functioning, we can understand the importance of meditation and breathing exercises on our mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Cortisol is the stress hormone that interferes with learning and memory, it lowers immune function and bone density, increases weight gain, blood pressure, cholesterol, heart disease, etc. This hormone alerts the adrenal glands to increase the production of adrenaline; adrenaline is responsible for the fight or flight response in humans which explains why we say or do things that we don t mean to. Student achievement becomes the teacher s motivating force; those devoting their lives to education do so emboldened by a recognition of education s promises and prospects. Wrong, especially one who has never been to an auction, let alone woken up at eight in the morning since mid August. That morning, I was unaware of my ability to learn so much about the microscopic Eastern Shore from a hoarder s garage on steroids. Surprisingly, it s possible for a place that only holds eight percent of Maryland s population to be hectic, but also peaceful and eccentric; its inhabitants could be competitive, friendly, and also rude, all at the same time. Regardless of where I wanted to be, I was in Crumpton, MD on the last Wednesday of September. The sun is nowhere to be seen while drizzling rain is stirring the dirt ground into mud, but regardless of how dark and gloomy the morning felt, the colossal yellowish green building managed to lighten the mood. Its base is compiled of cement blocks and the roof is slanted, painted in a forest green to match the large letters that read Dixson s Furniture Auction. In front of the auction warehouse sat items that belonged to someone at some point, but were in search of a new owner. Each item was systematically scattered throughout the lot. Most items are what you would expect to see: wooden chairs, wardrobes, and even some tables. Suddenly, a short, skinny black man asked if he could be of any assistance. I kindly responded no.
