2. President Droupadi Murmu Urges The Nation To Work Together
& Make India TB-Free On The Eve Of World Tuberculosis Day
On the eve of World Tuberculosis Day today, President
Droupadi Murmu urged the nation to work together and
make India TB-free.
In her message to the nation, the President expressed
happiness over observing World Tuberculosis Day every year
on 24th March with an aim to increase public awareness
about TB.
She highlighted that this day will raise awareness about the
challenges in controlling the disease, and support efforts to
prevent it.
She said, this day also reminds everyone of the importance
of early detection, treatment and prevention of TB.

3. The nation pays tributes to freedom fighters – Bhagat
Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev – on their martyrdom day
today.
On this day in 1931, British rulers had executed them in
Lahore for their revolutionary activities against the empire.
They were hanged a day before the scheduled date of
execution.
A number of programmes have been organised in Punjab
and across the country to mark the day.

4. Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade,
DPIIT hosted a stakeholder consultation on enabling
women workforce participation in the logistics sector in
New Delhi today.
The consultation brought together over fifty professionals
across Industry Associations, MSMEs, Large Enterprises,
Skill training institutes, Bi-lateral and Multilateral institutes
to discuss and strategize the way forward for gender
inclusivity in logistics.
The event underscored the importance of creating a
supportive ecosystem that encourages and facilitates the
involvement of women at all levels of the logistics chain.
The discussion ranged from various topics including
infrastructural barriers to the need for policy reforms that
prioritise women’s safety, training, and professional
growth.

5. Indira Gandhi National Centre For The Arts Releases Two Literary
Works Aimed At Deepening The Understanding Of India-Japan
Cultural Connections
Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, IGNCA today released
two literary works aimed at deepening the understanding of
India-Japan cultural connections.
The books namely Siddham Calligraphy of Sanskrit Hieronyms
and Sanskrit Manuscripts from Japan, Vol I were released by
Member Secretary of IGNCA Sachchidanand Joshi, Advisor
(Japan) in Ministry of External Affairs Ashok Chawla and First
Secretary at Japanese Embassy Takashi Kobayashi among others
in New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Member Secretary of IGNCA said
these two books will go a long way to the exploration of India-
Japan’s deep-rooted cultural relations.
Mr. Kobayashi said these books will certainly redefine the
relations between both the countries as they are well-connected
through Buddhism.

6. Kashmir Valley: Asia’s Largest Tulip Garden Officially Opens For
Public
In the Kashmir Valley, Tulip Garden, one of the biggest in Asia, was
officially thrown open for the public today.
According to officials, this year the garden will bloom with 17 lakh
flowers of different varieties with a boast of five new flower varieties
this year.
As locals and tourists jostled to get a glimpse of the iconic garden on
the opening day, the officials said that in the coming days, the garden
will be in its full bloom and both national and international tourists will
visit the garden to cherish the beauty of tulips.
The picturesque garden, located on the foothills of the Zabarwan
mountain range and banks of majestic world-famous Dal Lake – has
multiple varieties of red, yellow and pink early blooming and late
blooming tulip bulbs.

7. Supreme Court Judge, Justice Surya Kant Underlines Need To
Strengthen Backbone Of District Judiciary System
Supreme Court Judge, Justice Surya Kant on Saturday underlined
the need to strengthen the backbone of the district judiciary system
which he said is the true representative of the judicial system before
the masses.
Speaking at the 10th Judicial Conclave at the Tripura Judicial
Academy in Agartala, Justice Surya Kant said that the judiciary
system at the district court level should be made robust.
He noted that not many people can afford to come to the high
courts, and there are very few who can travel all the way to the
Supreme Court situated in Delhi.
He said it is the judicial system that provides a peaceful resolution
of the conflict and restores social harmony in society.

8. Around one crore 80 lakh first-time voters aged between 18 to 19 years
will exercise their franchise in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
Several social media campaigns like IVote4Sure are underway to
encourage young and first-time voters.
Akashvani correspondent reports that this time around 19 crore 74 lakh
voters are in the age group of 20 to 29 years. Election Commission said,
over 13.4 lakh advance applications have been received from people
aged over 17 years.
The poll body is collaborating with National icons like Sachin Tendulkar
and Rajkummar Rao to enhance youth participation in the festival of
democracy.
Social media campaigns and radio engagement also aim to increase
participation.
To address barriers in youth participation, the Commission is
implementing the Turnout Implementation Plan.

9. CBSE Disaffiliates 20 Schools For Engaging In
Malpractices
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has
disaffiliated 20 schools for engaging in malpractices. The
Board has disaffiliated Five schools from Delhi alone.
A notification by the CBSE said the stringent action was taken
after discrepancies were found in adherence to affiliation and
examination norms during surprise inspections by the board.
CBSE also said that these schools were committing various
malpractices of presenting dummy students, and ineligible
candidates and were not maintaining records properly.
After a thorough inquiry, the board decided to disaffiliate and
downgrade them.

10. Death Toll In Moscow Terrorist Attack Rises To
115
The Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K) has claimed responsibility
for the attack on the concert venue.
The Kremlin said, 11 people including four suspected gunmen
have been arrested in connection with the shooting rampage.
Russia’s Investigative Committee said, the death toll has risen
to 115 in the attack in which camouflage-clad gunmen opened
fire with automatic weapons.
It said, the death toll is expected to rise. Health officials said,
more than 120 people were wounded.

11. US Senate Passes 1.2 Trillion Dollars Funding
Package After Last-Minute Agreement, Averting
Partial Government Shutdown
The US Senate has passed the 1.2 trillion dollar funding package today after
a last-minute agreement, averting a partial government shutdown.
The funding legislation was approved by a vote of 74-24 more than two
hours after the midnight deadline for passage of the critical legislation that
was approved by the House of Representatives on Friday.
The package includes funding for a slate of critical government operations,
including the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Labor, Health
and Human Services, Education, State, and the legislative branch. The
legislation now goes to President Joe Biden’s desk for his signature.
The legislation brings an end to months of acrimonious wrangling between
the two main parties.

12. 59th ITEC Day Celebrated In Kathmandu To
Recognise Strides Made In India-Nepal
Capacity-Building Partnership
The Embassy of India, Kathmandu celebrated the 59th Indian Technical &
Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day on 22 March 2024.
Around 300 guests, including several Members of Parliament, senior Government
officials, ITEC alumni and prominent Nepalese alumni of academic institutions
from India attended the celebrations.
Launched in 1964, the ITEC programme builds on India’s vast and rich network of
governance and development-related expertise, by offering both short and long-
term capacity-building programmes in higher educational institutions and
training facilities in India, in more than 160+ partner countries, including Nepal.
It has been utilized by more than 200,000 Government officials, professionals and
senior industry representatives around the world.

Capitals By Four Wickets In Chandigarh
In IPL Cricket, Punjab Kings defeated Delhi Capitals by four wickets
in Chandigarh this evening. Chasing a target of 175 runs, Punjab
Kings reached the target losing six wickets and four balls to spare.
Sam Curran steered the chase with a solid innings of 63 runs off 47
balls, while Liam Livingstone hit an unbeaten 38 runs.
Earlier, put into bat, Delhi Capitals made 174 runs in the stipulated
20 overs.
Shai Hope top scored for the team with 33 runs while Abhishek

14. Figure Skating: Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto Wins
3rd Straight World Title
Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto has become the first woman to win
three straight titles at the Figure Skating World Championships
since 1968.
The 2022 Olympic bronze medalist staged a nearly flawless
routine featuring multiple triple jumps in her free skate. 17-year-
old American Isabeau Levito won Silver while Kim Chae-yeon of
South Korea took bronze.
Sakamoto has dominated the season, sweeping the Grand Prix
Series and claiming a fourth Japanese national title.
