Sacco and Vanzetti s trial also garnered national attention through newspaper articles. Six years after
their conviction, Sacco and Vanzetti gained international attention. Their defense lawyers also argued
that the men were only convicted due to their anarchist beliefs and went on to contact Benito
Mussolini who argued in defense of the men as well. Prejudice against anarchists was present during
the time of this trial had a great impact on the outcome of the case and left a lasting impression of
America. Another man ended up confessing to the murders, but Sacco and Vanzetti were continually
denied a new trial. Just as in Frank s trial, the defense for Sacco and Vanzetti applied for clemency but
did not receive it. Furthermore, a judge was able to deny their appeals and eventually this rule was
rewritten in Massachusetts so judges no longer have this power. The fear of communism and prejudice
against immigrants played a major role in this case and impacts people s lives

Ultimate Questions are questions that cannot be answered or explained scientifically. An example of
one is Is There Life After Death , which will be explored. Different religions and cultures believe that
different things happen after we die. Humans prepare for the future all their lives, yet meet the next
life totally unprepared. This is a quote by the Tibetan Master, Drakpa Gylsten. This quote suggests that

O. Henry s short story, A Retrieved Reformation, shows a man s journey through rehabilitation. In the
story, Jimmy Valentine is in jail for robbery. Then is allowed to leave in hope he has finally learned
from his past mistakes and will stop robbing people to get what he desires. When Jimmy leaves, he
robs many more banks but does not get caught. Jimmy then goes to a small town so the cops won t be
able to find him, and the town has a train station for him to make a quick getaway. When Jimmy first
arrives to the town, he sees a lovely woman named Annabel Adams and everything changes. He
knows she won t like him if he keeps acting like his old self so, he decides he will finally change for
the better. He changes his name to Ralph Spencer and starts acting totally different. This short story
demonstrates change and how you affect people every day whether you realize it or not. At the
beginning of the coming of age story, when Jimmy gets let out of jail, we see how Jimmy has not
changed and he had went back to his old ways. To show this, the author explains multiple robberies
that happened within weeks of each other. Then, Ben Price, the detective trying to find who has been
robbing the banks, realized it was Jimmy Valentine who was back to his old ways. To show this, the

Audiences love knowing who is the villain of a story. There s a certain power in seeing something not
visible to the other characters, recognizing a seed of hatred blooming behind the scenes. It brings a
sense of satisfaction, actively rooting against the antagonist so that the hero can win. Seeing the
difference between good and bad isn t easy in real life, but in a fictional world all of the rules change,
and the audience knows the truth. In King Lear, Goneril and Regan, daughters to the king, are almost
immediately cemented into the role of antagonists due to characters reactions to them and insider
knowledge the audience gains when listening to their private talks. However, we only make this leap
because certain characters in the play want us to. But what if those characters are wrong? Maybe the
world of the play already believes Goneril and Regan are the villains, but as an outside audience we
have the option to give the sisters a chance to prove themselves. Looking at their actions, listening to
their words, nothing about the two sisters implies that they re bloodthirsty or traitors to their family.
Instead, Regan and Goneril instead seem to be protecting themselves from an unloving and possibly
abusive father. In the first scene of the play, Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia must tell their dad how
