The Accumulation Of Greenhouse Gases
Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1Background
The accumulation of greenhouse gasses (GHGs) in the atmosphere has been a debate topic among
scientists since a long time ago as it contributes to the risen of global surface temperature (Liddle
and Lung, 2010). Carbon dioxide (CO2) has been pointed as the main greenhouse gas which
responsible for global warming and related changes in climate. It has been increasing significantly
over the past century, compared to the pre industrial era (about 280 parts per million, or ppm).
Empirical studies which explicitly examine the link between population and pollution in a
systematic quantitative manner are very few in number (Cole and Neumayer, 2004).
Recently, some studies have dealt with the causality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indonesian population growth has been slowed from the past decade (BPS, 2016). Indonesia
approximately generated 215.6 terawatt hours in 2013 that was the biggest electricity output in the
ASEAN region (IEA, 2015b).
Global warming is the major issue that has severe consequences. For the sake of the planet
before 2050, it is vital to limit the impacts. In order to reduce the GHG emissions and energy
consumption, some countries have taken measures or policies to increase the cleaner and
renewable energy sources. Because of the importance of reducing global warming, the
Indonesian government has committed reducing minimum 26% GHG emissions by 2020.
Indonesian flagship forest policy started since 2011 has lowered the GHG emissions from
deforestation by 1 2.5% over 4 years. This moratorium on new licenses to log or clear rainforest
also extended from2 to 4 years (2013 2015). Indonesia s current policy projection is the National
Energy Policy (NEP) also set a relatively low bar for updating from fossil fuel to renewable energy
sources, the target is 23% by 2030. The NEP also states that coal will still provide 30% of the
total primary energy supply (TPES) by 2030 (APERC, 2016). In the other hand, the projections of

Abigail Fisher s Case Summary
The University of Texas at Austin is a world renown school with an acceptance rate of 40.2% as
of 2013. Abigail Fisher, a white woman from Texas, sued the University of Texas for racial
discrimination in the university s admission program. Ms. Fisher lost her district court case and
the Fifth Circuit Case three to zero; but the Supreme Court accepted her appeal for another trial.
Due to Ms. Fisher not being able to attend The University of Texas, she was accepted into
Louisiana State University shortly after. At LSU, she filed the lawsuit against the University of
Texas to prohibit the university to use race as a factor in the future admission process. Ms. Fisher
argued that race or ethnicity should not be a factor in the application process because it is simply
unfair. The university responded that using race as a factor is only part of the admission process
and is only used to ensure a large diverse group of students. The University of Texas automatically
admits students in the top ten percent of high schools in the state. The school also used the
affirmative action policy to admit students of other races, even with less credentials, over white
students. While Ms. Fisher was not in the top ten percent of her high school, she still thought that
with her GPA, performing arts, and other achievements; she would be able to attend the university.
The rule of law that is involved in this case is section one of the fourteenth amendment. Ms. Fisher

Civil Engineering Personal Statement
I was born in a family which is fulfilled with civil engineering elements, thus my childhood
environment aroused my strong interests of engineering and construction. For example, my father
is an excellent civil engineer who participated in the design and construction of many large
projects. We have models of bridge and buildingand everywhere in our home such as the delicate
Tower Bridge and the ingenious Eiffel Tower. Furthermore, we have collected numerous
architectonic books from all around the world, which became my best mentor for construction.
Throughout my growth stages, I spent a lot of my leisure time on construction, for instance,
following my father to visit construction sites in China. Therefore, I resolved to be an engineer and

Jewish Scriptures Morally And Allegorical
Comprehending scriptures literally can be easily achieved by anyone, however, it is also
important for people to understand the scriptures morally and allegorically because faith influence
our behavior, morals, and lifestyle. Jewish scriptures are divided into three sections: Torah (The
Law), Nevi im (The Prophets), and Ketuvim (The Writing). The book of Genesis can be found in
Torahwhich has the foundational stories of Judaism( Hebrew Bible, Bond) and Rabbi David L.
Locketz further interprets the scriptures literally and allegorically.
In the video of Rabbi David L. Locektz, he comments that the book of Genesis 41:1 44:17 refers to
Miketz that usually corresponds with Hannukah (0:09) and talks about the glory of Joseph and the

Interview Sixth Grade Life Science Students On The Topic...
I chose to interview seventh grade life science students on the topic of cell division. Because I
teach at a magnet junior high/ high school within Toledo Public students, the students I teach in the
seventh grade are coming from a variety of different elementary schools both in and out of the
district. This results in a wide variety of prior content knowledge in science. Based on the Ohio
New Learning Standards for Science, in the sixth grade, students are introduced to the idea of
mitosisand that cells come from pre existing cells. However, based on my past two years of
experience teaching seventh grade life science, this is often not the case. Most students have a
basic understanding of cells, but have not been introduced to mitosis, nor the major component of
cell theory that all cells come from pre existing cells. It may also be important to note that my
seventh grade class incorporates both seventh and eighth grade life science standards from the Ohio
New Learning Standards for Science.
Interviews began as students were shown a model of a cell which is shown in Image 1. Students
were first asked the stem question, What is this a model of? From there students were asked,
Where do cells come from? The probing questions asked to students were dependent on their
responses, but were asked in order to reveal their knowledge of cell division. Three student
responses are described in this paper, as they revealed a variety of prior content knowledge. Three

Lay Me Up Analysis
Music has existed for centuries, but its origin is unclear. However, the music that we do know of
and have listened to through many eras, has impacted countless lives. For there to be a list of
only one thousand songs of the possible billions is a demanding task. If I were to be given this
task I know exactly which songI would choose without a single moment of hesitation. Of all the
incredible and iconic songs ever produced, Lay Me Down by Sam Smith is one song that is
worthy of being on the top one thousand songs list, because its notes and melodies harmonize
effortlessly, its lyricsspeak words of true compassion, and it has significant societal importance.
In my opinion, a song can not be described as a jumble of noises and words put together, as a
song is so much more. It is truly a sequence of melodies, harmonies and vocals that work together
to create a masterpiece. This idea is clearly demonstrated in Sam Smith s masterpiece, Lay Me
Down . At the very beginning of the song, soft yet prominent notes of piano can be heard in the
background, as Sam Smith s falsetto voice sings the song lyrics gently. When he does this it creates
a very quiet and intimate effect. As the song progresses, slight hints of drums are added and the
tempo begins to pick up. The lyrics are then sung with plenty of power and strength at the bridge, to
accompany the moving instrumentals. The beautiful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was beautifully put together with the perfect instruments and chords to create a work of art, the
words sung by Sam Smith are undeniably poetic, and the themes expressed by this song are
significant in society today and always will be. There are an abundance of different songs to
choose from that have the opportunity of earning a spot on a top one thousand song list. But it is
evident that Lay Me Down merits the top spot on a list that is meant for those who have a taste in
music that is beyond

Tone in Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus Essay
Tone in Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus
In Lady Lazarus by Sylvia Plath, the speaker s tone is revealed through many different poetic
aspects. Throughout her writing, the speaker s attitude towards death appears to be happy but,
when looking more closely at Plath s use of poetic devices her attitude is bitter. Shown mainly
through the diction, images, sounds and repetition, this depressing tone emphasizes the speaker s
feelings about death. First, diction or word choice used throughout this poem depicts apart the
meaning and stresses the tone. Next, the images used to describe the speaker s experiences with
death shows the emotions and thoughts that go through the speaker s mind concerning death. These
events the speaker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I manage it (3), sort of (4), Do I terrify? (12), underestimate (72) and Beware (80) explain the
choice of words by Plath that explains the doubtful tone of the poem and helps to create the image
of death through the shallow voice of this helpless woman.
Also, there are words that describe actions taking place when death attempts occur. For example,
annihilate (24), The peanut crunching crowd / Shoves in to see (26 27), I rocked shut (39) and
That knocks me out (56) shows negative action towards death. First of all, annihilate means to
destroy, which gives a downbeat connotation towards the tone of the poem. Then, the crowd refers
to the others and their discouragement in this woman s life, which leads to disappointment and an
unconstructive tone towards death in the poem. Then the last two examples describe the speaker s
feelings towards a hopeless end to life. This type of diction used to accentuate the tone of the poem
further supports the pessimistic nature.
Lastly, another use of diction in Plath s poem is words associated with death and therefore,
internally affect the tone of the poem. First, in line fourteen they use the word vanish which means
to go away and never come back. This word is directly related to what death means and in using
this word suggests that there is death involved in this particular poem, and the attitude towards it is
not positive.

Essay about Safe Surrendered Baby Law
The Safely Surrendered Baby Law has responded to an increasing number of newborn infant
deaths due to abandonment in unsafe locations. The Safely Surrendered Baby Law was first
established in Jaunary 2001, eventually being signed permanently into state law in January 2006.
The law s objective is to be a safeguard for newborn infants at risk of abandonment by encouraging
parents or persons with lawful custody to safely surrender the infantwithin 72 hours of birth, no
questions asked (California Department of Social Services, 2007). A baby can be safely
surrendered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. An identity bracelet is given to the baby so that if the
parents decide to keep the baby, they have up to 14 days to change their mind (Santa Clara... Show

They are left with no option than to find secret ways in abandoning the baby. There have been
stories of mothers drowning a baby in a toilet or babies found in dumpsters (Phillipsen, 2003).
History of problem
The safe surrender baby program was derived from the need to harbor children who couldn t be
cared for. Looking back in history, infanticide was used as a form of population control when
resources were not abundant (Milner, 1998). Thus, the safe surrender baby program is a humane
alternative to abandoning the baby. Before 1999, those who were concerned with the deaths of
infants as a result of abandonment responded to the problem with various community based
programs. There were programs that provided 24 hour hotlines and others provided burial for the
infants who have died as a result of abandonment. Thirty five states passed their laws concerning
abandoned babies, creating safe havens to secretly surrender a child without prosecution by March
2002 (Hittle, 2011).
Current status As of 2005, 51 babies have been safely surrendered in California, marking it the
largest yearly total since the Safely Surrender Baby law went into effect. Los Angeles County leads
the state with 44 babies safely surrendered since the program began (Santa Clara County
Government, 2011).

Correlations Cause Crime
Hayley Taylor
Psychology 100
January 25, 2017
Correlation vs Causation A positive correlation means as one variable increases, the other
increases. Correspondingly, as one variable decreases, the other decreases. In this case, vitamins
cause crime, is stating that as more people intake vitamins, the rate of crime is increasing. Although
this may be true, it still does not prove that consuming more vitamins causes crime to rise.
Correlation does not prove causation. The article title, vitamins cause crime, is more accurately a
correlation versus causation fallacy. This fallacy is where a correlation can be assumed that the
dependent variable (measures effect) changes mainly because the independent variable (variable
manipulated) changed. A correlation does exist, however, interpreting the casual association was
wrong. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To do this, a researcher would divide the participants into four groups: a maximum number of
vitamins, minimum number of vitamins, a placebo, and no vitamins. During this experiment, the
researcher would have to keep track and record how many people get charged for a crime during
this experimental process. The independent variable would be the amount of vitamins distributed
to each participant. There would also be a control group present and another group that is given a
placebo to avoid the placebo effect. For the other two groups that are given, the maximum and
minimum amount of vitamins, the researcher should see if there is a difference between the
amount of vitamins given. The dependent variable would be how many of the participants are
charged for a crime. The key part of making this a true double blind study is having the researcher
tell the participants that this experiment to test for a different variable. Leaving the part out about it
testing for crime rates will keep things unbiased and have accurate

Alexander The Great Of The Empire
In the Late 4th century, BC Alexander the great was a very popular and was a great king to

white politicians were in a state of agitation because African Americans were demanding their civil

Cr Jerome Brulee Research Paper
CrГЁme brulee is an custard from France that translates into burnt cream, but what is unusual
about this custard is it has a thin layer of burnt sugar not cream. Now some people have never
even tried it, and for those people who are in love with most of the time have it at a restaurant
and want to be able to make it at home. But they feel like since it is from France and has a fancy
name it must be a very complicated recipe, but just have to know how to do two important steps.
The two critical steps when composing crГЁme brulee are separating egg yolks, and bruleeing the
sugar.
Probably the most important step when making crГЁme brulee is separating the egg yolks from
the egg whites. The yolk is the yellow center and the white is liquid around it. The first step in
separating the center from the white is to get a trash can so the whites can just fall right in for easy

turn on the cooking torch and start bruleeing the sugar, and to ensure that the caramel will not

In addition, offering a retirement plan is a way to help our employees plan for their financial future.
It is suggested that the organization consider a defined contribution plan. Defined contribution
plans set aside a pre determined amount into a retirement vehicle, such as a 401k. They are easier
to manage, have less volatility and have lower costs than defined benefit plans. In addition,
defined contribution plans, such as a 401k plan allow employees to make contributions as well. A

would allow the employer to tie its contributions to a percentage of profits, thus minimizing our

Racial Perception Of Where Is The Voice Coming From ...
Racial perception in society has always been a topic of controversy throughout the entire nation.
The United States of America didn t always support equal rights of colored individuals even after
it was printed into the US constitution that all men are created equal. White supremacy was at
its peak as segregation and racism has consumed many parts of the country. Known as a very
important civil right leader, John Lewis gives an indepth look of the most pivotal moments in
America through book two of the series known as March . Eudora Welty s Where is the voice
coming from conveys the perception of many Americans who felt as if colored people were a
threat and could not have the luxurious lifestyle. Both pieces impact the minds of people today as
it sheds light on the issue of equality for all individuals, nonetheless the short story Where is the

many individuals in the past and even now in the present allow psychological consent in order to
justify violent actions which have ended many innocent lives. With malicious intent it saddens me
that a deaths of innocent people is what it takes for colored folks to have a right to fight for
justice. Where is the voice coming from is a one of the many short stories in Eudora Welty s novel.

Essay about Madisonian Majorities
Since time began, it has always been human nature for man to compete and win. Just like when it
comes to majorities and minorities, majorities tend to overpower minorities. Guinier makes a great
point when she brings up, Madisonian Majorities, which are minorities working with the majority
to achieve a solution. By working in this format, we could achieve so much more in much peaceful
ways. Madisonian majorities could be best applied to a democracy, because both the majority and
minority can work together to satisfy the needs of its citizens. Madisonian Majorities helped shape
countless laws that many Americans benefit from today, including the architecture of our

This compromise was a true defeat of the tyranny America was living under before the revolution.
Guinier points out what one colonist said, We have been so long habituated to a jealousy of
tyranny from monarchy and aristocracy, that we have yet to learn the danger of it from democracy
(888). America overcame the tyranny of the majority, by coming up with the Great Compromise
and by working with the minority. As a result of the Great Compromise, Democracy was born in
the western world because of a Madisonian Majority. America graciously missed the danger
thanks to this compromise. Many people say that it is our human nature to fight, known by many
as survival of the fittest. However, approaching issues in a Madisonian Majority style, would be a
much more civilized and intellectual way of resolving our issues. In school and in many textbooks
we are taught that a democracy is a form of government in which the people rule by popular
sovereignty. The people elect representatives to satisfy their political and economic needs.
However, this definition of democracy wasn t always true. Into the first one hundred years of our
government, only white property owning men could vote and have a say in our government. They
were the majority, and the minority was composed of ethnic groups and women. It wasn t until the
passing of the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments that the minority had a greater voice in

early advocates of environmentalism. Throughout Buddhist countries there have been large
movements to create environmental change, and Buddhists leaders hope that Buddhismcontinues to
disseminate environmental change around the world.

Essay on Plurality Voting System in Canada
The current plurality voting system in Canada is regularly attacked for unfairly representing the
popular vote and giving some parties a disproportionate amount of legislative power while leaving
others with none. Opponents contend that other electoral systems would be far superior and
provide a better democracy. Proportional representation(PR) is usually cited as the best alternative;
the debate of proportional representation versus plurality often hinges on the balance between
fairness and efficiency. Without attempting the political calculus to determine the rate at which
fairness should be sacrificed for efficiency, this paper will address the very claim that PR is more
fair than the plurality system. The proponents contend that PR is... Show more content on

Canada, and the majority of former British colonies, use the plurality voting system (Blais and
Massicotte, 1997). The plurality, or first past the post, voting system is a system where the candidate
with the most votes, though not necessarily a majority of votes, wins a constituency. This process
is repeated in 308 constituencies across Canada with the party winning the most ridings becoming
the government. This system has substantial benefits: notably that it is clear, easy, and efficient.
The system is well understood and produces a very clear government after the election. Most
importantly, it produces a government that has a strong mandate to govern and one that usually
hold the majority of seats. A majority government can execute its policy without concern that other
parties can stop it by collectively voting against the legislation in the House of Commons. This
allows the government to take action and implement its election promises with the knowledge that
it will have several years of rule before having to answer to the electorate for its actions.
Opponents challenge the system noting that it results in a significant amount of wasted votes
because many voters, often a majority, vote for other candidates during the election but do not
receive the representation of their views by a Member of Parliament. Further, disillusionment is
created from the feeling that there are many ridings where there are safe party seats that one party
or another is going to win

Fracking The term, fracking has existed for nearly a half century and has always had the negative
connotations of being unclean and the source for many environmental issues and adverse health

oil boom of the twenty first century and with new methods, safety procedures, and technology,
potential hazards can be reduced or even eliminated. Due to the many possible hazards of the
fracking process, it has initiated much political discussion at the state and federal levels of

fracking, such as fracking fluid dispersal and other environmental issues are outweighed by the vast
economic gains and can be mitigated by a system of regulations and development of new
technologies for the industry. The fracking industry will only increase in size, so much so that
reclamation of shale gas is called eminent shale gas revolution. British Petroleum [BP], for

Stereotypes In The Movie Zootopia
Zootopia is an animated movie featuring a rabbit cop named Judy Hopps, the protagonist, and a
hustler fox called Nick Wilde, the deuteragonist. This animated film Zootopia displays how negative
themes can impact society, these themes are stereotypes, discrimination and prejudice.
Stereotypes is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of
person or thing. Stereotypes played a significant role in the important themes symbolised
throughout the film Zootopia. The movie provides much evidence of negative themes
represented by stereotypes, for example predators are exploited because they are considered as
savages and have an instinct of brutality and savagery or that bunnies are always looked down
upon or misjudged because they are small and vulnerable and are only capable of becoming
carrot farmers etc. This is seen very frequently in the movie, it is extremely repetitive; especially
during a scene where Judy Hopps arrives at the police station for her first day as a police officer.
In this scene where she approaches Officer Clawhauser a chunky, food loving cheetah Judy is
faced with typical bunny stereotypes as Officer Clawhauser quotes you are even cuter than I
thought you d be which Judy then replies with a bunny can call another bunny cute , but when
other animals do it, it s a little... . This is Judy being assumed stereotypically by Clawhauser
because she is a bunny and as stated before bunnies are stereotypically more charming, petite and
defenceless. The symbolised stereotypes are just one factor of how Zootopia explores a variety of
important themes through displaying how negative themes can impact society.
Discrimination is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of various categories of people, especially on
the grounds of race, age or sex. Discrimination is one of the key important themes in Zootopia,
the movie itself is embodied around the concept of discrimination as the main plot is about a
villainous sheep named Bellweather, who wants to rid all predators because she presumed that
they would be a threat to prey like her, but in this movie Zootopia is a place where everyone
belongs so what Bellweather did was simply just discrimination. The framed actions of

The World Is A Dangerous Place
In the words of Albert Einstein The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people
who are evil, but because of the people who don t do anything about it. The importance of these
words and the desire to pursue my Master degree in Science in Global Studies and International
Relations came to me as an epiphany, while roaming the streets of Brazil. After a decade of
working as a nuclear engineer, at one of the world s leading nuclear instrumentation companies, I
have encountered numerous issues such as nuclear waste disposable, non proliferation, and energy
independence. It is through these efforts that, I have come to realize that the greatest impediment to
solving these problems is often the labyrinth of political hurdles and deciphering the technical
implications of government standards. As an engineer, my world has been framed by logical
assessments and conclusions. I was brought up and taught to think critically, analyze, and solve
problems. I have been living in a microsphere of the nuclear industry and have come to the
realization that the true solution to a problem often lies not only in science but in diplomacy. For
example, a university in Egypt wanted to buy a monitor. The monitor they wanted to purchase did
not contain any nuclear material (but did allow for workers to check if they are contaminated with
nuclear material). This simple request became a rather interesting situation not only because my
company is 96% owned by the government of France,

The most intriguing character in The Jade Peony Essay
In the Jade Peony of Wayson Choy, poh poh or the grandmama seems to be the most intriguing
character. Her character is complex for her grandchildren who are the narrators of the novel and
therefore complicated for the reader of the novel; but not so complicated for their neighbour Mrs.
Lim or even Father and stepmother who are from the generation in between. Even though Poh poh s
character is not the narrator, she is present throughout the story even after her death. In each of the
three stories, she is mentioned, described, or quoted by the narrators. She has a huge impact on all
narrators. Poh poh like any other grandparent likes to teach her culture, traditions, and language to
her grandchildren. The only difference is that her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though it seems that Poh poh discriminates between girls and boys, there are factors that can
make this judgment wrong. Beside Kiam whose childhood is not so much mentioned in the book,
there are three children that are raised in the family and between them only Liang had a normal
life. Jung, the second brother, was adopted from a home where the father used to hit him with a
belt and the mother either committed suicide or was murdered. He had enough of hardship in his
first four years of life that could make Pho poh decide not to be anymore harsh on him. And the
other brother, Sekky, was weak and sick from the beginning of his life. Again, this may be another
factor that could stop Poh poh from being tough on him as well. Another reason that makes life for
Liang harder is that she as a girl should spend more time at home while other boys might have
more chance to get more freedom outside the house while helping the father or doing manly jobs.
There is no doubt that Poh poh is a traditional person. She obviously differs and distinguishes
between boys and girls. For example, Liang should help Poh poh in cleaning and taking care of the
new born baby, Sekky, while boys are playing. On the other hand, boys, like Kiam and Jung, should
help their father in collecting the

Teenage Drinking And Driving
Drinking and driving is a big problem that affects teenagers all over the world. People would
think that with all the laws cracking down on the sale of alcohol to minors, and education about
the consequences of drinking and driving would make a difference. Everyone knows that
drinking and driving is dangerous, but don t realize it affects the driver, passengers, and people
on the streets. The laws should be stricter about underage drinking, there should be more
education about the consequences of drinking and driving, and the drinking age should not be
lowered. Even though under age drinking is illegal, teenagers are starting to drink at younger
ages, which is leading to risky behaviors (Dedel). Some common behaviors known to happen
while under the influence include, driving, property damage, rape, and other violent crimes. The
major problem for teenagers is driving while they are under the influence. The laws need to be
stricter when it comes to under age drinking. Most teenagers do not have the mindset to drink
responsibly and can lead to negative effects, that could not only harm them but harm other people
too. Police need to crack down on all underage drinkers so that nobody does anything that could
harm them, like getting into a car and driving or riding in a car with someone who is drunk.. Most
teenagers don t think that drinking while they are under the influence is a big problem. Kelly

Themes Of Beauty Is Truth The Truth
Beauty is truth, truth beauty . Discuss Keats s exploration of the themes of beauty, truth and
imagination in two or more of his works. Prior to the Romantic Movement the prevalent notions in
European culture was that the understanding of the universe could be comprehended with the
application of rationality and logic. The belief that reason and logic could and should determine all
aspects of life arguably underwent a shift of consciousness and was subordinated against the ideas
of the Romantic Movement. In place of logic and reason, the Romantics placed a considerable
amount of emphasises on emotions, beauty, individuality and in particularly the imagination. An

Unit 2 Assignment 1 Bacterial illness is a result of complex interactions between bacteria and the
host. During evolution, humans developed many ways to protect themselves against bacterial
pathogens. On the other hand, bacteria have developed strategies to evade, subvert or circumvent
these defenses (Sousa, 2003) One of the most important characteristics of bacterial pathogenicity is
the various strategies developed by prokaryotic organisms to use host molecules for their own
benefit (Sousa, 2003). To accomplish this, bacteria have evolved elaborate control mechanisms to

In the initial phase of infection, environmental strains of P. aeruginosa from any aqueous setting are
inadvertently inhaled or otherwise delivered to the upper respiratory tract (Feldman, et al., 1998). It
is at this stage where the expression of functional flagella is critical, providing chemotaxis toward
desirable substrates, such as mucin, and the motility essential for widespread dissemination
(Feldman, et al., 1998). In the normal host, the presence of defenses and additional antimicrobial
peptides, the affinity of flagella components for mucin glycopeptides, and the process of
mucociliary clearance are likely to eradicate such transiently inhaled organisms from the respiratory
tract before any epithelial immune response is elicited (Feldman, et al., 1998).
While motility is commonplace among the prokaryotes, it is important to note the variety of
structures responsible for motility. These structures vary depending not only on the organism in
question, but also on the particular environment (Bardy, Ng, Jarrell, 2003). Study of the bacterial
flagellum has provided insights into many aspects of prokaryotic cellular activities including
genetics and regulation, physiology, environmental sensing, protein secretion and assembly of
complex structures (Bardy, Ng, Jarrell, 2003). Continued study of all prokaryotic motility structures
will provide knowledge that is likely to reach far beyond the topic of motility and pathogenicity

A business may possess inferior employees but the huge amount of loyalty would have can send a
very insignificant business to amazing heights. Likewise, those employees with unsubstantial
amount of loyalty may cause tremendous business to collapse.
DuPont being one of the largest chemical company in the world, it is a necessity for them to
continue to work as effective and efficient as possible. To help them with such we have conducted
a study on employee loyalty. With this study, we aim to come with an output that will be able to
assist DuPont to design different programs to help improve the employee organizational loyalty.
Through this we as well want to prove that the amount of loyalty of the employees of a business
plays a significant role in the success of the corporations.
Theoretical Framework
John Meyer and Natalie Allen proposed the Three Components of Commitment model, which
explains how organizational commitment is a psychological related idea. They suggested three
factors that affect how an employee sees his/her organization. With this knowledge and better
understanding, one can increase not only the engagement of the employees, but their well being
and job satisfaction as well. By using these components together with various appropriate
approaches, a manager now has the ability to effectively motivate and work with his/her team.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ids
INTRODUCTION
The enormous growth of computer networks usage and the huge increase in the number of
applications running on top of it, network security is becoming an important issue. Moreover,
almost all computer systems suffer from security vulnerabilities which are both technically difficult
and economically costly to be solved by the manufacturers. Therefore, the role of the Intrusion
Detection Systems (IDSs), as special purpose devices to detect anomalies and attacks in the
network, is becoming more important.
In general, IDSs are using two fundamental approaches. The first one is misuse detection, also
called signature based detection. In this type of IDSs, the search for evidence of attacks is based
on knowledge accumulated from known attacks. This knowledge is represented by attacks
signatures which are patterns or sets of rules that can uniquely identify an attack. Being designed
based on the knowledge of the past intrusions or known vulnerabilities, misuse based IDSs are
also called knowledge base detection. The advantages of knowledge based approaches are that they
have a very good accuracy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This way, the system will achieve the advantage of misuse detection to have a high detection rate on
known attacks as well as the ability of anomaly detectors in detecting unknown attacks. Despite the
inherent potential of hybrid detection, there are still two important issues that highly affect the
performance of these hybrid systems. First, anomaly based methods cannot achieve an outstanding
performance without a comprehensive labeled and up to date training set with all different attack
types, which is very costly and time consuming to create if not impossible. Second, efficient and
effective fusion of several detection technologies becomes a big challenge for building an
operational hybrid intrusion detection

Han and Roman Attitudes Towards Technology
During the Han and Roman civilizations many new developments of useful technology took place,
at the hands of thousands of people. The Romans built brilliant new technologies such as their
aqueducts and the creation of concrete which helped build better, stronger structures. The Han also
had technologies they developed to help their society, such as their agricultural advancements with
farming tools and the using the ox. Attitudes towards the technology at the time for each
civilization caused pride and encompassed order to accumulate success, but the Han viewed
workers more equally than the Romans did in the making of these magnificent advances.
Both the Han and Roman empires exhibited the need for control and order in the development of
new technologies. They strived for their new creations to be the best, and aimed for perfection. In
the creation of Roman aqueduct, there was an extremely structured pattern to follow in building
the structures. The elevations reached a specific height, the volume was measured on scales, and
they made sure water lead to many different areas (Doc 8). Another example of the Romans
attempts to strive for perfection is present in the building of the roads. They had to be precise and
straight for travel, equal and parallel in their measurements, and even had road markers (Doc 6).
They also had to packed one with numerous layers of sand and

sport may help them stay connected with other people. Staying connected with people that make
individuals happy and make that individual laugh and smile makes a big difference in battling
with depression and an individual s outlook. In other words, for someone who is going through
depression, social support is a big factor in dealing with depression and stress (Smith). In

Cacstromethorphan Case Studies
1.Dextromethorphan is believed to have rapid acting antidepressant properties at high dosage
because it s similar to glutamate NMDA receptor antagonist ketamine, which has shown rapid
(within hours after administration) antidepressant effects. However, ketamine has adverse effects
and a high potential to be abused [16].

A case report showed Dextromethorphan was effective in a middle aged man with Major
Depressive Disorder. A 51 year old Caucasian male with DSM V Major Depressive Disorder,
recurrent, severe, non psychotic and Generalized Anxiety Disorder was treated with 600 mg/day of
CYP2D6 inhibitor bupropion XL (a common antidepressant drug) and a 60 mg BID oral dose of
Dextromethorphan. The patient showed improvement in major depressive disorder without side
effects. This case study was the first to show the fast acting effect of Dextromethorphan in major
depressive disorder in humans. This adds to the building literature on the antidepressant effects
observed in Dextromethorphan. The report suggested the administration of other common
antidepressants with Dextromethorphan, such as lithium might prolong the duration of the rapid
antidepressant effect [19].
Although this case report illustrates that Dextromethorphan has rapid antidepressant effects in
humans, there are very few clinical trial on the effect of Dextromethorphan on major depressive
disorder. This clinical trial will be one of very few controlled evaluating the safety and efficacy of
Dextromethorphan in patients with major depressive disorder. Therefore, various assumptions will
be required to estimate sample size. This trial will focus on patient who have

Essay on The Duel Between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton
In the battle between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton was one of the most famous duels in the

However, he was even more outstanding in George Washington s eye. In this era, being outstanding
in Washington s eye was substantially magnificent. Hamilton married a young lady by the name of
Elizabeth Schuyler; she was the daughter of a general. This put Alexander Hamilton in the middle
of New York s politics. In 1782, Hamilton was elected to the Continental Congress. As Alexander
Hamilton s political career began to get under way, things seem to be going as planned. He
played a major role in the constitution. He was one of America s first Constitutional lawyers,
and wrote most of the Federalist Papers, a primary source for Constitutional interpretation. He
was perhaps the best lawyer in America at the time of his death and his views were remarkably
consistent and coherent. He also had a clear vision of the new nation and believed that it could
learn much from British economic policy and governmental practice. Since he played such a
major role in the Constitution Convention, he obviously was going to serve a major role in the
new government. He proved himself a brilliant administrator both in organizing the Treasury
Department and in assisting generally to set guidelines for and staff all the departments of
government. He proposed, to pay the nation s debts in full and also to assume the unpaid debts of
the various states. In his later years, he was a strong member of the

  • 2. The Accumulation Of Greenhouse Gases Chapter 1 Introduction 1.1Background The accumulation of greenhouse gasses (GHGs) in the atmosphere has been a debate topic among scientists since a long time ago as it contributes to the risen of global surface temperature (Liddle and Lung, 2010). Carbon dioxide (CO2) has been pointed as the main greenhouse gas which responsible for global warming and related changes in climate. It has been increasing significantly over the past century, compared to the pre industrial era (about 280 parts per million, or ppm). Empirical studies which explicitly examine the link between population and pollution in a systematic quantitative manner are very few in number (Cole and Neumayer, 2004). Recently, some studies have dealt with the causality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Indonesian population growth has been slowed from the past decade (BPS, 2016). Indonesia approximately generated 215.6 terawatt hours in 2013 that was the biggest electricity output in the ASEAN region (IEA, 2015b). Global warming is the major issue that has severe consequences. For the sake of the planet before 2050, it is vital to limit the impacts. In order to reduce the GHG emissions and energy consumption, some countries have taken measures or policies to increase the cleaner and renewable energy sources. Because of the importance of reducing global warming, the Indonesian government has committed reducing minimum 26% GHG emissions by 2020. Indonesian flagship forest policy started since 2011 has lowered the GHG emissions from deforestation by 1 2.5% over 4 years. This moratorium on new licenses to log or clear rainforest also extended from2 to 4 years (2013 2015). Indonesia s current policy projection is the National Energy Policy (NEP) also set a relatively low bar for updating from fossil fuel to renewable energy sources, the target is 23% by 2030. The NEP also states that coal will still provide 30% of the total primary energy supply (TPES) by 2030 (APERC, 2016). In the other hand, the projections of this plan, the ... • 3. Abigail Fisher s Case Summary The University of Texas at Austin is a world renown school with an acceptance rate of 40.2% as of 2013. Abigail Fisher, a white woman from Texas, sued the University of Texas for racial discrimination in the university s admission program. Ms. Fisher lost her district court case and the Fifth Circuit Case three to zero; but the Supreme Court accepted her appeal for another trial. Due to Ms. Fisher not being able to attend The University of Texas, she was accepted into Louisiana State University shortly after. At LSU, she filed the lawsuit against the University of Texas to prohibit the university to use race as a factor in the future admission process. Ms. Fisher argued that race or ethnicity should not be a factor in the application process because it is simply unfair. The university responded that using race as a factor is only part of the admission process and is only used to ensure a large diverse group of students. The University of Texas automatically admits students in the top ten percent of high schools in the state. The school also used the affirmative action policy to admit students of other races, even with less credentials, over white students. While Ms. Fisher was not in the top ten percent of her high school, she still thought that with her GPA, performing arts, and other achievements; she would be able to attend the university. The rule of law that is involved in this case is section one of the fourteenth amendment. Ms. Fisher claims that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Interview Sixth Grade Life Science Students On The Topic... I chose to interview seventh grade life science students on the topic of cell division. Because I teach at a magnet junior high/ high school within Toledo Public students, the students I teach in the seventh grade are coming from a variety of different elementary schools both in and out of the district. This results in a wide variety of prior content knowledge in science. Based on the Ohio New Learning Standards for Science, in the sixth grade, students are introduced to the idea of mitosisand that cells come from pre existing cells. However, based on my past two years of experience teaching seventh grade life science, this is often not the case. Most students have a basic understanding of cells, but have not been introduced to mitosis, nor the major component of cell theory that all cells come from pre existing cells. It may also be important to note that my seventh grade class incorporates both seventh and eighth grade life science standards from the Ohio New Learning Standards for Science. Interviews began as students were shown a model of a cell which is shown in Image 1. Students were first asked the stem question, What is this a model of? From there students were asked, Where do cells come from? The probing questions asked to students were dependent on their responses, but were asked in order to reveal their knowledge of cell division. Three student responses are described in this paper, as they revealed a variety of prior content knowledge. Three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Lay Me Up Analysis Music has existed for centuries, but its origin is unclear. However, the music that we do know of and have listened to through many eras, has impacted countless lives. For there to be a list of only one thousand songs of the possible billions is a demanding task. If I were to be given this task I know exactly which songI would choose without a single moment of hesitation. Of all the incredible and iconic songs ever produced, Lay Me Down by Sam Smith is one song that is worthy of being on the top one thousand songs list, because its notes and melodies harmonize effortlessly, its lyricsspeak words of true compassion, and it has significant societal importance. In my opinion, a song can not be described as a jumble of noises and words put together, as a song is so much more. It is truly a sequence of melodies, harmonies and vocals that work together to create a masterpiece. This idea is clearly demonstrated in Sam Smith s masterpiece, Lay Me Down . At the very beginning of the song, soft yet prominent notes of piano can be heard in the background, as Sam Smith s falsetto voice sings the song lyrics gently. When he does this it creates a very quiet and intimate effect. As the song progresses, slight hints of drums are added and the tempo begins to pick up. The lyrics are then sung with plenty of power and strength at the bridge, to accompany the moving instrumentals. The beautiful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. Tone in Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus Essay Tone in Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus In Lady Lazarus by Sylvia Plath, the speaker s tone is revealed through many different poetic aspects. Throughout her writing, the speaker s attitude towards death appears to be happy but, when looking more closely at Plath s use of poetic devices her attitude is bitter. Shown mainly through the diction, images, sounds and repetition, this depressing tone emphasizes the speaker s feelings about death. First, diction or word choice used throughout this poem depicts apart the meaning and stresses the tone. Next, the images used to describe the speaker s experiences with death shows the emotions and thoughts that go through the speaker s mind concerning death. These events the speaker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I manage it (3), sort of (4), Do I terrify? (12), underestimate (72) and Beware (80) explain the choice of words by Plath that explains the doubtful tone of the poem and helps to create the image of death through the shallow voice of this helpless woman. Also, there are words that describe actions taking place when death attempts occur. For example, annihilate (24), The peanut crunching crowd / Shoves in to see (26 27), I rocked shut (39) and That knocks me out (56) shows negative action towards death. First of all, annihilate means to destroy, which gives a downbeat connotation towards the tone of the poem. Then, the crowd refers to the others and their discouragement in this woman s life, which leads to disappointment and an unconstructive tone towards death in the poem. Then the last two examples describe the speaker s feelings towards a hopeless end to life. This type of diction used to accentuate the tone of the poem further supports the pessimistic nature. Lastly, another use of diction in Plath s poem is words associated with death and therefore, internally affect the tone of the poem. First, in line fourteen they use the word vanish which means to go away and never come back. This word is directly related to what death means and in using this word suggests that there is death involved in this particular poem, and the attitude towards it is not positive. ... The Safely Surrendered Baby Law was first established in Jaunary 2001, eventually being signed permanently into state law in January 2006. The law s objective is to be a safeguard for newborn infants at risk of abandonment by encouraging parents or persons with lawful custody to safely surrender the infantwithin 72 hours of birth, no questions asked (California Department of Social Services, 2007). A baby can be safely surrendered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are left with no option than to find secret ways in abandoning the baby. There have been stories of mothers drowning a baby in a toilet or babies found in dumpsters (Phillipsen, 2003). History of problem The safe surrender baby program was derived from the need to harbor children who couldn t be cared for. Looking back in history, infanticide was used as a form of population control when resources were not abundant (Milner, 1998). Thus, the safe surrender baby program is a humane alternative to abandoning the baby. Before 1999, those who were concerned with the deaths of infants as a result of abandonment responded to the problem with various community based programs. There were programs that provided 24 hour hotlines and others provided burial for the infants who have died as a result of abandonment. Thirty five states passed their laws concerning abandoned babies, creating safe havens to secretly surrender a child without prosecution by March 2002 (Hittle, 2011). Current status As of 2005, 51 babies have been safely surrendered in California, marking it the largest yearly total since the Safely Surrender Baby law went into effect. Los Angeles County leads the state with 44 babies safely surrendered since the program began (Santa Clara County Government, 2011). Critical perspectives in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Correlations Cause Crime Hayley Taylor Psychology 100 January 25, 2017 Correlation vs Causation A positive correlation means as one variable increases, the other increases. Correspondingly, as one variable decreases, the other decreases. In this case, vitamins cause crime, is stating that as more people intake vitamins, the rate of crime is increasing. Although this may be true, it still does not prove that consuming more vitamins causes crime to rise. Correlation does not prove causation. The article title, vitamins cause crime, is more accurately a correlation versus causation fallacy. This fallacy is where a correlation can be assumed that the dependent variable (measures effect) changes mainly because the independent variable (variable manipulated) changed. A correlation does exist, however, interpreting the casual association was wrong. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To do this, a researcher would divide the participants into four groups: a maximum number of vitamins, minimum number of vitamins, a placebo, and no vitamins. During this experiment, the researcher would have to keep track and record how many people get charged for a crime during this experimental process. The independent variable would be the amount of vitamins distributed to each participant. There would also be a control group present and another group that is given a placebo to avoid the placebo effect. For the other two groups that are given, the maximum and minimum amount of vitamins, the researcher should see if there is a difference between the amount of vitamins given. The dependent variable would be how many of the participants are charged for a crime. The key part of making this a true double blind study is having the researcher tell the participants that this experiment to test for a different variable. Leaving the part out about it testing for crime rates will keep things unbiased and have accurate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cr Jerome Brulee Research Paper CrГЁme brulee is an custard from France that translates into burnt cream, but what is unusual about this custard is it has a thin layer of burnt sugar not cream. Now some people have never even tried it, and for those people who are in love with most of the time have it at a restaurant and want to be able to make it at home. But they feel like since it is from France and has a fancy name it must be a very complicated recipe, but just have to know how to do two important steps. The two critical steps when composing crГЁme brulee are separating egg yolks, and bruleeing the sugar. Probably the most important step when making crГЁme brulee is separating the egg yolks from the egg whites. The yolk is the yellow center and the white is liquid around it. The first step in separating the center from the white is to get a trash can so the whites can just fall right in for easy clean up. Then crack the egg ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now for the fun part, pick up the ramekin and be sure to hold it from the bottom that way there will be no burns of the fingers or hands. Then turn on the cooking torch and start bruleeing the sugar, and to ensure that the caramel will not burn, rotate the ramekin and slightly tilt them to get the edges of the custard, and the end result is a thin layer of hardened caramel, then it is ready to enjoy. The importance of bruleeing the caramel is because this step differentiates crГЁme brulee from regular custard of flan. In addition, defined contribution plans, such as a 401k plan allow employees to make contributions as well. Just like when it comes to majorities and minorities, majorities tend to overpower minorities. Guinier makes a great point when she brings up, Madisonian Majorities, which are minorities working with the majority to achieve a solution. By working in this format, we could achieve so much more in much peaceful ways. Madisonian majorities could be best applied to a democracy, because both the majority and minority can work together to satisfy the needs of its citizens. America overcame the tyranny of the majority, by coming up with the Great Compromise and by working with the minority. As a result of the Great Compromise, Democracy was born in the western world because of a Madisonian Majority. America graciously missed the danger thanks to this compromise. The plurality, or first past the post, voting system is a system where the candidate with the most votes, though not necessarily a majority of votes, wins a constituency. This process is repeated in 308 constituencies across Canada with the party winning the most ridings becoming the government. This system has substantial benefits: notably that it is clear, easy, and efficient. The system is well understood and produces a very clear government after the election. Most importantly, it produces a government that has a strong mandate to govern and one that usually hold the majority of seats. A majority government can execute its policy without concern that other parties can stop it by collectively voting against the legislation in the House of Commons. This allows the government to take action and implement its election promises with the knowledge that it will have several years of rule before having to answer to the electorate for its actions. Opponents challenge the system noting that it results in a significant amount of wasted votes because many voters, often a majority, vote for other candidates during the election but do not receive the representation of their views by a Member of Parliament. Further, disillusionment is created from the feeling that there are many ridings where there are safe party seats that one party or another is going to win ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This animated film Zootopia displays how negative themes can impact society, these themes are stereotypes, discrimination and prejudice. Stereotypes is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. Stereotypes played a significant role in the important themes symbolised throughout the film Zootopia. The movie provides much evidence of negative themes represented by stereotypes, for example predators are exploited because they are considered as savages and have an instinct of brutality and savagery or that bunnies are always looked down upon or misjudged because they are small and vulnerable and are only capable of becoming carrot farmers etc. This is seen very frequently in the movie, it is extremely repetitive; especially during a scene where Judy Hopps arrives at the police station for her first day as a police officer. In this scene where she approaches Officer Clawhauser a chunky, food loving cheetah Judy is faced with typical bunny stereotypes as Officer Clawhauser quotes you are even cuter than I thought you d be which Judy then replies with a bunny can call another bunny cute , but when other animals do it, it s a little... . This is Judy being assumed stereotypically by Clawhauser because she is a bunny and as stated before bunnies are stereotypically more charming, petite and defenceless. The symbolised stereotypes are just one factor of how Zootopia explores a variety of important themes through displaying how negative themes can impact society. Discrimination is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of various categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age or sex. Discrimination is one of the key important themes in Zootopia, the movie itself is embodied around the concept of discrimination as the main plot is about a villainous sheep named Bellweather, who wants to rid all predators because she presumed that they would be a threat to prey like her, but in this movie Zootopia is a place where everyone belongs so what Bellweather did was simply just discrimination. After a decade of working as a nuclear engineer, at one of the world s leading nuclear instrumentation companies, I have encountered numerous issues such as nuclear waste disposable, non proliferation, and energy independence. As an engineer, my world has been framed by logical assessments and conclusions. I was brought up and taught to think critically, analyze, and solve problems. I have been living in a microsphere of the nuclear industry and have come to the realization that the true solution to a problem often lies not only in science but in diplomacy. In the initial phase of infection, environmental strains of P. aeruginosa from any aqueous setting are inadvertently inhaled or otherwise delivered to the upper respiratory tract (Feldman, et al., 1998). It is at this stage where the expression of functional flagella is critical, providing chemotaxis toward desirable substrates, such as mucin, and the motility essential for widespread dissemination (Feldman, et al., 1998). In the normal host, the presence of defenses and additional antimicrobial peptides, the affinity of flagella components for mucin glycopeptides, and the process of mucociliary clearance are likely to eradicate such transiently inhaled organisms from the respiratory tract before any epithelial immune response is elicited (Feldman, et al., 1998). While motility is commonplace among the prokaryotes, it is important to note the variety of structures responsible for motility. These structures vary depending not only on the organism in question, but also on the particular environment (Bardy, Ng, Jarrell, 2003). Study of the bacterial flagellum has provided insights into many aspects of prokaryotic cellular activities including genetics and regulation, physiology, environmental sensing, protein secretion and assembly of complex structures (Bardy, Ng, Jarrell, 2003). Continued study of all prokaryotic motility structures will provide knowledge that is likely to reach far beyond the topic of motility and pathogenicity (Bardy, Ng, ... Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ids INTRODUCTION The enormous growth of computer networks usage and the huge increase in the number of applications running on top of it, network security is becoming an important issue. Moreover, almost all computer systems suffer from security vulnerabilities which are both technically difficult and economically costly to be solved by the manufacturers. Therefore, the role of the Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs), as special purpose devices to detect anomalies and attacks in the network, is becoming more important. In general, IDSs are using two fundamental approaches. The first one is misuse detection, also called signature based detection. In this type of IDSs, the search for evidence of attacks is based on knowledge accumulated from known attacks. This knowledge is represented by attacks signatures which are patterns or sets of rules that can uniquely identify an attack. Being designed based on the knowledge of the past intrusions or known vulnerabilities, misuse based IDSs are also called knowledge base detection. • 41. The Contributions Of The Han And Roman Attitudes Towards... Caitlin Ginther AP World History Mr. Faught 10 March, 2017 Han and Roman Attitudes Towards Technology During the Han and Roman civilizations many new developments of useful technology took place, at the hands of thousands of people. The Romans built brilliant new technologies such as their aqueducts and the creation of concrete which helped build better, stronger structures. The Han also had technologies they developed to help their society, such as their agricultural advancements with farming tools and the using the ox. Attitudes towards the technology at the time for each civilization caused pride and encompassed order to accumulate success, but the Han viewed workers more equally than the Romans did in the making of these magnificent advances. Both the Han and Roman empires exhibited the need for control and order in the development of new technologies. They strived for their new creations to be the best, and aimed for perfection. In the creation of Roman aqueduct, there was an extremely structured pattern to follow in building the structures. The elevations reached a specific height, the volume was measured on scales, and they made sure water lead to many different areas (Doc 8). Another example of the Romans attempts to strive for perfection is present in the building of the roads. They had to be precise and straight for travel, equal and parallel in their measurements, and even had road markers (Doc 6). They also had to packed one with numerous layers of sand and ...
