I have had first hand experience of instances like this when I lived on the south side of Chicago at age
16. I watched as the boys on my block age 11 and up would get stopped by the police while standing

A major difference between the two was that Carolingian architects used stone only for important

The topic I choose for the final marine biology project is the Great White Shark. The reason I choose
this topic is because sharks have always been in the back of my head and would really like to learn
more about them. People are usually scared to go into the ocean at the beach and I would like to know
more about the creature that caused this. The Great White is very important to Marine Biology and to
the marine environments because it is at the top of the food chain. The Great White does not have any
known natural predators other than the Orca Whale. If this shark becomes endangered or goes extinct,
the population of the seals, sea lions, and other animals that it often feeds on would skyrocket. These
animals would then eat themselves out, thus changing the whole ecosystem around them. So basically,
the Great White Shark cannot be removed without the whole marine ecosystem becoming disturbed
and unbalanced. That s why they are now being protected in a lot of places. Great Whites are
carnivorous sharks that grow from 15 to 20 feet long; their size is relatable to a school bus. They
weigh 5,000 pounds or more and they are listed endangered by the World Wildlife Foundation. They

which can lead to neurogenic bladder ( Neurology/Neurogenic Bladder, 2017). Next, physiological
disorders can occur as seen with enlarged prostate in men or shortening of the urethra in women
(Jaipaul, 2017). Anticipating the above changes appropriately will aid in understanding what leads to
urinary retention in older adults, the resulting need of catheterizations, and the CAUTIs that can

urinary tract infections in patients who require catheterization.

The first step nurses can take to decrease the incidents of CAUTIs in older adults is avoiding

inappropriate situations in which a catheter should be utilized. According to (Gould et al., 2017), an
appropriate situation is one where a patient has acute urinary retention or bladder obstruction, whereas
an inappropriate situation is one where a catheter is being used a means of obtaining urine for culture
when the patient can voluntarily void. Nurses can also use basic techniques like palpation, percussion,
and inspection to effectively assess urinary retention, which is the main reason for catheterization as

Education theorist and teacher, John Holt, in his essay School Is Bad For Children, explains his point
of view on education and the schooling system. He makes bold declarations about this topic and
believes that school hurts children more than it benefits. John Holt s position is presented with
extreme negativity. Almost every child, on the first day he sets foot in a school building, is smarter,
more curious, less afraid of what he does not know, better at finding and figuring things out, more
confident, resourceful, persistent and independent than he will ever be again in his schooling... (72).
Throughout Holt s essay, he highlights how he feels that schooling changes the child s perception of
learning and limits their creative thinking. He compares teachers to sergeants, he believes they are a
major contribution to the problems that he addresses. After offering his criticism, Holt presents six
suggestions that he feels would improve the education of children in America. He believes there
should be no mandatory attendance at schools, kids should learn more outside of the school building
and more in the world, there should be more learning from adults in the community, more
opportunities to learn from fellow students, children should be judging their own work, and there
should not be fixed curriculum. One of the main arguments Holt has is that children should not have
mandatory attendance. He calls them resentful prisoners (74), and he accuses schools of being the only
exploiters of children (74). He mentions that attendance was useful when children had to work, but
that is no longer necessary because there are laws against this in present day. His viewpoint is narrow
minded, not all students fit into the description that he is forming. Lynda Barry explains her
