The Battle Against Grendel s Mother
Beowulf sets his sights towards Grendel s mother shortly after the second attack on Heorot.
Grendel s mother is similarly linked to Cain just as her son was. According to the selection, it is
said that after Cain was cast away by God, his mark of murder followed him. Everywhere Cain
walked, monsters and shadows arose from the ground in which Grendel s mother is a result of. It is
interesting to note that the story of Beowulfeffortlessly contorted the Christian story of Cain by
adding Pagan influences such as monsters. Nonetheless, like previous battles, the fight against
Grendel s mother was a result of vengeance. Grendel s mother lived miserably in dark, monster
infested waters, but caused no harm until the death of her son whom she was obligated to avenge.
Soon after her introduction into the story, the reader is informed that she injured many, but it was
the murder of the king s closest advisor that was most troubling . As one can imagine vengeance is
necessary to bring justice to the situation even though the Pagan principle of vengeance defies
Christian ideals. The characters in the story understand that this fiend is no weak one, and they
offer Beowulf gear in preparation for the battle. As Beowulf prepares to avenge the death of the
king s advisor, he is given Hrunting, a special sword. This once again introduces another Pagan
element. As the aforementioned, Paganism strongly believed in magical entities; special swords are
no exception. Hrunting was

How Do Copper Wires Wrap Around The Nail Affect The...
How can the times of the copper wire wrapped around the nail would affect the strength of the
magnet? Hypothesis My hypothesis for this experiment is that the more copper is wrap around the
nail the stronger will eventually be and the more heavy things can hold and lift . Also the thickness
of the wire will affect the strength. The amount of space you leave between each loop could also
affect the the strength and the time the the nail would hold the metal objects. Background research
The purpose of this experiment is to prove if the number of wires wrap around the nail will affect
the strength of magnetism. The electromagnets are used in many household items. Electromagnets
are Magnets when they have electricity running through them, but they are not regular magnets
because electromagnets can be turned on and off, so when when electricity... Show more content on

This were all the materials I used to complete the experiment. First I hold the 2 nails and I
wrapped the copper wire on both of them. In one of them I wrap the copper wire 5 times a round
the nail and I left a little space in between each loop. Than I decide to coil the wire 15 times
around the same nail with almost no space in between them. At the end of each time i wrapped
the nail with the loops I left some wire so that I was able to hook it up to the battery. The wire
that was left out, I folded it so it could be able to hold on to the battery, positive and negative. The
positive was the flat head of the nail and the negative was the pointy bottom of the nail. The type of
battery that i used was a D battery. By putting the nail wrap with copper wire into the battery it
started creating magnetism. When they made contact the wire and the battery got hot so i had to
use the cloth. After this the small magnetic objects were getting attached to the

Live Sound Setup
Introduction
A PA system that is installed correctly and operates at its optimum level will allow a sound signal
to travel from one or more microphones to a mixing console. At the mixing console all signals will
be mixed together in the right balance and levels and sent out to an amplifier. The signals are then
converted into much larger signals and sent to the speakers creating sound waves for the audience to
hear. (Fry, 2005)
The aim of this report is to analyse by way of reference books, government occupational health and
safety guidelines and various sound websites, the installation and operation of a PA system for a
one night concert at Centrestage, Invercargill. The concert consists of a seven piece funk band.

Centre Stage has AC power available and before any equipment is set up it needs to be
remembered that all the power that is used must be on the same circuit. On the stage there should
be a power box that has all amps, keyboards etc running from it. Keep any leads away from any
lighting. By staying within this rule it will eliminate any Hum.
Place all the equipment where you want it to go. Make sure all the volumes are down on the
equipment and once all equipment has been turned on, lastly turn the amps on. This will avoid any
spiking of the speakers and possible damage. The following list is of equipment to be used and a
diagram showing the routing.
Mackie CFX20 As this mixer has been purpose built for use in small to medium live sound PA
systems it is an ideal option for Centre Stage. The unit offers low noise and the console is
coloured well giving clarity to the placement of its various knobs and functions. The band needs
to have a minimum of ten mic inputs and this console has sixteen. It has the useful option of a
desklamp for ease of viewing the dark and a cd player for playing at break times. Lab Gruppen

Academic Integration Into Career Technical Education
The purpose of this problem of practice is to investigate successful programs and curricula that
implement academic integration into Career Technical Education programs at shared time Career
Technical Centers that lack teachers academically certified The constructivist paradigm emphasizes
the importance of exploring how different stakeholders in a social setting construct their beliefs
(Mertens, 2015). It also suggests that learners develop a theory and gain knowledge from their

This aligns to my problem of practice, since I plan to use the case study design, conduct interviews
and review other relevant documents during the data collection phase of my research.
On the other hand, the post positivism paradigm is comparative to my problem of practice as well.
Post positivists believe that researchers can be influenced by previous knowledge or background as
they seek to verify information. Objectivity must be adhered to and procedures strictly followed so
that personal bias does not influence outcomes during the research process (Mertens, 2015).
Verifying information about academic integration and increased student achievement in my
problem of practice could lead to the identification of relationships and prove or disprove the what
questions. For example, what evidence exists that the integration of academics into CTE courses at
shared time centers has resulted in positive educational outcomes? Does the information related to
the question need to be verified? Or does it just make logical sense that academic integration
improves student achievement? If the phenomenon is verified, who will benefit? With my
background and experience in CTE and academic integration as a teacher and administrator, true
objective knowledge may be difficult to achieve, but I believe it can be done with careful planning
and by following strict procedures. Also, the quantitative method for research and data collection is
normally predominant in the

Black Canadians And Civil Rights
Black civil rights in Canada have changed immensely over the last century, giving black Canadians
a sense of identity and equal opportunity within Canadian communities. This document provides a
detailed overview of the struggles, oppression, and changes that individuals went through, as well
as the changes they enacted into the Canadian system to improve the living standards of black
Canadians. The purpose of those like (insert people s names) and their causes are explained in
detail; but also gives a background on each person s life and the struggles that they themselves dealt
with when they first moved to Canada. Some groups or movements are also touched on in detail,
and how they had an impact on the way civil rights changed both socially and politically as they
were eye opening experiences for the Canadian government and its citizens.
The Relationship between Black Canadians and Civil Rights in Canada In the eyes of a Canadian,
the notion of human rights has evolved drastically over time. Change is ignited when someone
feels as though they are being treated unfairly and action is taken to reverse this oppressive
environment. There has been a historical pattern of unjust and inhuman acts towards perceived
racially inferior groups in Canadian history during the 20th century. The uprising of Black Civil
Rights was a crucial step towards an equal and just society; despite Canada s influence in the fight
against the Nazis repressive actions in WW2, the fight for racial

To what extent did Russia undergo economic and political reform in the years 1906 14?
After the 1905 revolution Russia was in need of reforms both economically and politically, to
allow it maintain its role of a great power and to prevent another revolution occurring the answer to
this was the October Manifesto. However, due to the stubbornness of the Tsar who was determined
not to relinquish his autocratic powers, what may have appeared as reforms were largely superficial
making little change in particular to the Russian political system.
In early 1906 the October Manifesto was published as a result of the 1905 revolution and as a way
to appease the peasants and appear as a revolutionary change, when truly very little was changed by

This had a big impact, as it lead to 50% of peasants having ownership of land, and agricultural
production had risen from 45.9 million tonnes to 61.7 million tonnes in 1913. It is said by
historians that had war not broken out, Russia could have developed a more stable, loyal and
prosperous peasantry, as Stolypin envisaged. On the other hand, despite the rise on crop yields
and production, not much was done about the living and working conditions of Russia s industrial
workers. This was definitely shown after his assassination, where a plague of Russian unrest came
around again, only leading to the Lena Goldfield massacre of 1912 in Siberia, which led to strikers
being killed by the police. This was then a tipping point for more strikes and demonstrations,
reminiscent of the 1905 revolution, to take place, showing that despite the fact Stolypin had helped
reform a little economically, it was immediately undone by the wrath of popular unrest amongst the
lower classes once more.
From these two arguments it is very easy to see points helping question the extent of the Russian
economic and political changes over the years, but I

A Background On Security Design Patterns Essay
In this section, we present a brief background on security design patterns and FCA. 2.1.Security
Design Patterns Christopher Alexander first introduced the concept of design patterns for use
of living spaces, in his book A Pattern Language , published in 1977 [3]. The concept of a pattern
was adopted by the software community in the book Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable
Object Oriented Software , published in 1994 whose authors Gamma, Helm, Johnson, and
Vlissides are known as the Gang of Four [4]. The first design patterns related to security were
published by Yoder and Barcalow in 1997 which described 7 design patterns. Subsequently, many
design patterns and pattern catalogs were published. Important contributions are by Romanosky
[5], Kienzle et al. [6], Blakley and members of the Open Group security Forum [7], Hafiz et al.
[8,9] and the Microsoft Patterns and Practices group [10,11]. In their book published in 2005,
Schumacher and a working group of security pattern experts, discussed 46 patterns [12]. Steel et
al. [13] compiled a catalog of 23 core security patterns for J2EE and web services. Dougherty et al.,
at the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute, described 15 design patterns in their guide
to Secure Design Patterns [14]. Fernandez presented 68 design patterns in the book Security
Patterns in Practice: Designing Secure Architectures Using Software Patterns [15]. Today the total
number of security design patterns is around 400 [16,17]. To

It s Time to Privatize Colombian’s Prisons
The involvement of the private sector in the penal system, prima facie, could be seen as a rapid
and low cost, high benefit solution to the most serious penal system problems such as lack of
prisons spaces, poor condition within the prisons, and the state responsibilities of running prisons
services adequately, by the figure of prisonprivatization. (Cavadino, M. and Dignan, J. 2007)
The figure of contracting out has been well described by Cavadino and Dignan in their analysis of
the prison privatization. This model involves the private sector in the penal system, by giving to it
certain responsibilities, such as, auxiliary services, design and construction of prisons, basic
custodial functions, or a set of above, which is named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, a careful analysis of the fact that the private sector, management of prisons could be seen,
just as a business, where everything is looking for the most part a financial item, so that, may

prisoner. Therefore it is very important in this point, the labour of the state as a controller and
overseer, supervising that the contractor fulfils its obligations in an appropriate and transparent
manner.
Second, analysis of competition between public and private sectors in terms of provision of
services in the search for low cost and high benefit as part of the delivery of the sentence, Logan,
C. argues that they face the same problems, and for that reason are in the ability to compete.
it is primarily because they are prisons, not because they are contractual, that private prison face
challenges of authority, legitimacy, procedural justice, accountability, liability, cost, security, safety,
corruptibility, and so on. Because they face no problems that are both unique and insurmountable,
private prisons should be allowed to compete (and cooperate) with government agencies so that we
can discover how best to run prisons that are safe, secure, humane, efficient and just . (Logan, C.
1990)
Under this approach, the competition between the two sectors can be legitimized, and beneficiaries

Usefulness Of The Statement Of Work Essay
Introduction
The attempt for this paper is to explain the usefulness of the statement of work (SOW) and a
development plan (DP). The SOW can devise a plan for this client with possible interventions,
plans and pre work, task, and innovative ideas to better her current situation. The SOW is a detailed
description of activities that are conducted under a contract (Business Dictionary.com, 2016). She
may consider implementation of change in various departments. However, the bottom line for this
client seems to be that she wants her employees to work as a team without harsh feelings toward
one another. In addition, she would like the employees in her product division to work more
harmoniously together.
A DP is an opportunity for the different departments and the client to plan for employee
development strategies and enhance the business functions. During this process reviewing
interventions, plans and pre work, task, and innovative ideas may aid everyone in focusing as a
team in the future. Here the idea is to enable those vested to have a more defined picture of
potential costs and drawbacks to certain business decisions and to help them modify accordingly
before implementing any ideas. It is important for those vested to continue on the path of their
ultimate objectives through this development planning process.
Statement of Work
The preparation of an effective SOW requires both an understanding of what this client needs are
and what goods or services are needed for each

Computers have undergone many narratives of focus, from the hardware and software, to the
internet and the World Wide Web, and then again to handheld mobile devices. Modern hardware on
which all of this occurs runs on the microprocessor, which was invented in the early 1970 s. The

The recent trend in computer technology is to instead increase the number of cores in the
processor along with the transistors, to maintain proportional scaling of power. As a result,
architecture researchers have started focusing on100 core and 1000 core chips and related research
topics and called for changes to the undergraduate curriculum to solve the parallel programming
challenge for multicore designs at these scales (Esmaeilzadeh 2012). Upcoming chips will be
limited by power, thus higher core counts must provide performance gains despite the worsening
energy and speed scaling of transistors.

The Global Economy Has Suffered And Pushed Through Many...
In the year 2015, the global economy has suffered and pushed through many hurdles. In the first
quarter, the American economy made a painstakingly slow progress in many places, while still
dealing with other key players in the global market that had potential to hurt the markets even
further. Greece and China have both caused lots of worry throughout the world; Greece not using
the Euro as their currency could have hurt the market, as well as China s government devaluing
their own currency, causing a ripple effect throughout other markets. World trade itself has
shrunken, adding new fire to the already blazing financial crisis at hand. Some would even argue
that the first and second quarter of 2015 were the worst performing quarters that the world has
seen in a very long time. Back in the 1990 s, growth in world trade was generally faster than
growth in the GDP, or gross domestic product. However, recently this has changed both have
scaled back. Hyperglobalization, a term used to describe the process of international intergration
that arises from interchanging world views, products, ideas, and other aspects of culture, had
begun by China s gaining their own sovereignty, the former Soviet Union, and a reduction in trade
barriers, as well as the creation of WTO (world trade organization. The expansion of global supply

The Media s Negative Portrayal of African American Males
They squirmed, pencils tapping their desks anxiously; none of their papers contained more than

And just as the reign of these tyrants appears be coming to an end, another barrier to equality is
appearing on the horizon: the media.
In my experience, TV in general is doing a huge disservice to any hopes of future racial parity by
its extremely unfair portrayal of the young African American male. These young men are literally
only shown on TV as sports stars, in the very best cases, and unfortunately most commonly seen as
jewel adorned rappers, spewing obscenities, making offensive gestures at the camera, hustling
around scantily clad young women as if they are simply commodities, and rapping about having sex
and smoking weed. Honestly, in the past few months I have yet to see a young African American
male portrayed as thoughtful, analytical, poetic, artistic, or even, sadly enough, remotely intelligent
or mature.
This might be acceptable if the case was such, but my experience alone proves otherwise. I know
plenty of young African American males who are mature beyond their years, and extremely
academically inclined. However, for reasons unbeknownst to me, the media industry is either stuck
on typecasting these men or deliberately choosing to represent them only as non intellectual people.
This is an outrage because inherently it does not allow young African American males to even
entertain the idea that they can and should rise above the image of themselves with which they are
barraged every day. By promoting these unjust

Education Is A Growing Aspect Of The Health Care Field
Education is a growing aspect in the health care field. It has an important effect for all health

as many as 52.6% of nurses list their highest degree as an ADN (The Impact of Education..).

Domesticating Exotic Animals
Should exotic animals be brought out of their natural habitat to please a person s wants? What
does exotic mean when pertaining to an animal? According to Merriam Webster dictionary exotic
means not living in the natural habitat the animal is accustomed to living. Taking an animal out
of their normal habitat is cruel and can be torturing. Keeping exotic animals as pets can also be
cruel and unusual punishment, not to mention the dangers that can occur. The expense to care
for an exotic animal can be very costly for instance the food, the space and vaccines if needed.
Some exotic animals can even carry diseases that can be spread to a young child or even an
elderly person. Not to mention the harm that can be done on a human at a given notice. Some
states even have legalized that no one person can own an exotic pet making the smuggling effort
into the country costly or deadly to the animal. Some states a person has to have a licensure in
order to own an exotic animal but this does not protect a person from harm or contracting a
disease, this just means one can legally own an exotic animal. Wildlife should be left just as the
name states, in the wild, not as an exotic pet, in their natural habitat.
With regard to keeping a pet, any animal can be mistreated and could possibly be a danger to their
owner, but exotic pets present some unique dangers to their owners in terms of creating some

Learner Autonomy
What is Learner Autonomy and How Can It Be Fostered?
Dimitrios Thanasoulas
The Internet TESL Journal
2. What is Autonomy?
For a definition of autonomy, we might quote Holec (1981: 3, cited in Benson Voller, 1997: 1)
who describes it as the ability to take charge of one s learning . On a general note, the term
autonomy has come to be used in at least five ways (see Benson Voller, 1997: 2): for situations in
which learners study entirely on their own; for a set of skills which can be learned and applied in
self directed learning; for an inborn capacity which is suppressed by institutional education; for the
exercise of learners responsibility for their own learning; for the right of ... Show more content on

This stands to reason, for most of the characteristics imputed to the autonomous learner
encapsulate a wide range of attributes not commonly associated with learners. For instance,
Benn (1976, cited in Candy, 1991: 102) likens the autonomous learner to one [w]hose life has a
consistency that derives from a coherent set of beliefs, values, and principles [and who engages
in a] still continuing process of criticism and re evaluation , while Rousseau ([1762] 1911, cited
in Candy, 1991: 102) regards the autonomous learner as someone who is obedient to a law that
he prescribes to himself . Within the context of education, though, there seem to be seven main
attributes characterising autonomous learners (see Omaggio, 1978, cited in Wenden, 1998: 41
42): 1. Autonomous learners have insights into their learning styles and strategies; 2. take an
active approach to the learning task at hand; 3. are willing to take risks, i.e., to communicate in
the target language at all costs; 4. are good guessers; 5. attend to form as well as to content, that
is, place importance on accuracy as well as appropriacy; 6. develop the target language into a
separate reference system and are willing to revise and reject hypotheses and rules that do not
apply; and 7. have a tolerant and outgoing approach to the target language.

Still Life With A Bunch Of Asparagus Analysis
Still Life with a Basket of Fruit and a Bunch of Asparagus was painted by Louise Moillon. The
oil painting is of a simple still life of a basket of fruits in a rather dark room with a bunch of
asparagus on the right of the basket. It was painted in 1630. To the right of the painting there is an
oil paintingtitled Panthea, Cyrus, and Araspas which was painted by Laurent de La Hyre in 1631/4.
To the left of the painting there is another oil paintingwhich is titled Landscape with Saint John on
Patmos which was painted by Nicolas Poussin in 1640. The painting makes use of implied line, the

The implied light helps to show the organic shape of the peaches especially. This is very obvious
because there is clearly a light shining on the fruit from the right side, and it can easily be
inferred that this painting is supposed to be located somewhere inside from the pure black
background and wooden table. Another point that it likely isn t natural lighting is that it looks
like the light source is really close to the fruit and radiating from one small spot, like a light
bulb. Many of the shapes in this painting are very organic, for they are, in fact, organic items.

Popular Culture in Today s Society
Reflections of Pop Culture on Society
Popular culture, commonly referred to as pop culture , is constantly changing and
heavily influencing people worldwide; one can hardly tell the history of the human race
without some mention of pop culture. Pop culture molds and defines the beliefs and
values, as well as, influences the actions of society. Social media, as well as the natural
ache we all carry to fit in, pushes people to embrace and succumb to pop culture.
Pop culture greatly influences what people choose to do, such as: where to eat, what to
buy, where to go on vacation, or what music music to listen to. We have all heard an

Internal External Factors of Management
Internal External Factors Internal and external factors have a large impact on the four functions of
management within an organization. What these factors are and the kind of impact they have
depends on the business and its particular goals. McDonald s goal is reflected in its mission
statement which is to be our customers favorite place and way to eat (McDonalds, 2009). In order
to achieve this goal, McDonald s executives and managers must follow the four functions of
managementwhich are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling (Bateman and Snell, 2009).
They must also understand how internal and external factors impact these functions. Internal

Innovation can also make a company more profitable and competitive within the marketplace. In
order for an organization to encourage innovation from within they need to clearly delegate the
vision and drive to all management and employees. Diversity and ethics are what create values
within an organization and make it more appealing to not only consumers but employees.
Without diversity and ethics organizations would not have values to focus on. By delegating the
values down through the management team to employees is important for any organization.
Diversity is also important within an organization because diversity is more than just race it is
race, age, and gender. If McDonald s hired only within a certain age group and did not hire a
variety of age ranges then they might find themselves at one point with people in retirement age.
This would create a problem because when they needed to hire younger employees to replace the
older employees as they retired they might not have enough knowledge. Diversity is good within
any organization because it allows for a mixture of knowledge and can benefit the organization
because younger employees that are willing to bring new ideas to an

Outline The Cyclic Nature Of The Sun
The sun produces three types of emissions that reach Earth electromagnetic radiation, solar wind,
and neutrinos.
The sun produces electromagnetic radiation of all wavelengths, with the visible spectrum being the
most intense wavelength range produced as the radiation peaks at this area of the EM spectrum.
The Earth s atmosphere absorbs most of this radiation but light and radio waves are able to
penetrate the atmosphere, as well as short wavelength infrared rays and long wavelength
microwaves. X rays and gamma rays are absorbed by the Earth s upper atmosphere.

Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, believed the idea that the Earth was fixed at the centre of the
Universe and that the other planets were embedded in a series of concentric crystalline spheres
surrounding the Earth. He proposed that 56 different crystalline spheres rotated about the Earth at
different rates. Each planet, the Sun, and the moon were in their own sphere surrounding the Earth,
and the stars were placed on the largest sphere surrounding everything else.
About two centuries after Aristotle, Hipparchus showed that the model better predicted the motion
of the heavens if the Earth was placed slightly off the centre of rotation of the celestial spheres.
Apollonius also proposed that the planets changed their speed through the heavens and sometimes
stopped and travelled backwards.
This particular model of the universe mainly evolved around Aristotle s observational evidence of
the time in which he lived, which supported the idea demonstrated in the model. In this theory, the
motion of things naturally moves to the centre of the Earth and the only way to separate from it

Inventory And Inventory Control System
INTRODUCTION:
The more inventory a company has... the less likely they will have what they need. Taichi Ohno
What is Inventory?
Inventory is considered to be the raw materials, work in process goods or completely finished
goods that are a portion of a business s assets that are ready for use or will be ready for sale to
customers.
Possessing huge amount of inventory for longer period of time is not considered to be usually
good for a business because of inventory storage, obsolescence and spoilage costs. On the other
hand, we also need to consider that possessing too little inventory isn t good either, because the
business runs the risk of losing out on potential sales and potential market shares. (1)
In any organization, Inventory Management is a very important concept that is been followed and
there is a dedicated team that looks after the planning, scheduling and flow of inventory. Typically
there are two standard inventory control systems that are followed within organizations for
effective Inventory Management:
Push System: The main ideology of push inventory control systems is forecasting inventory needs
to satisfy customer demands. Here, companies should make a prediction as to which product the
customers would purchase and also determine the quantity of products that will be purchased.
Everything in a push system is decided on basis of a prediction and forecasting and that is the
major flaw in the system. These forecasts are often inaccurate as well as

Confucianism Vs Taoism
Confucianism and Taoism are some of the major religions in China. They have greatly influenced
the culture of the Chinese people as well as their world view. The connection between the two
religions has influenced many people over time. It can also be said that when the principles of
both philosophies are put together, the outcome is a well rounded person. The following is a
discussion of the principles and philosophies behind these two religions as well as how the two
religions interact and connect to influence an individual.
Confucianism is a religion that bases its philosophy and principles on the teachings of Confucius, a

Knowledge means to appreciate the true and deep significance of something. Integrity on the other
hand means honesty and standing by one s words.
Taoism is a Chinese religious tradition that stresses the importance of living harmoniously with the
essence and source of all that exists or the Tao. In Chinese, Tao means the path, way or principle but
it can also mean nature or reality. In Taoism, the right path is working in harmony with nature or
reality. Taoism ethics stress the three jewels of the Tao which include moderation, compassion and
humility. The philosophy of Taoism centers on nature and how human beings should relate with the
cosmos. Inner fulfillment can be achieved through contemplation of nature. Nature is like a stream
of wisdom and by experiencing it through innocent eyes, we can internalize its pleasantness, its
intrigue and its excitement and make serenity.
There are four fundamental principles in Taoism including Tao, De, Pu and Wu wei. Tao in
Taoism is the natural, spontaneous, eternal and indescribable way everything began and took
course. It is the force that is behind natural order, the natural flow of the universe or that which
keeps the universe ordered and balanced. De on the other hand is the integrity, virtue and power
that are an active expression of the way or Tao. It is the living out or cultivation of the way. Wu

Target Market For The New Dog Food Essay
Target Market
1.Describe your recommended target market for the new dog food. In the description, include the
following topics. The recommended target market for this new dog food is dog owners who care
about what they are feeding their animals by purchasing whole and nutritious food that clearly
states its ingredients.
a.Type of perceived risk involved in the purchase and use of dog food:
The type of perceived risks associated with purchasing and using dog food are performance risk
and safety risk. Consumers want to provide the best food for their pets, so they are worried that
the product may not perform as well as other products available. This fear may stem from recalls
of dog food brands that were not providing the nutrients that were advertised on the product s
packaging, thus not performing as well as a product that actually contains the nutrients. Consumers
see their pets as part of their family, they would not want anything to harm them. Since there have
been a multitude of recalls for dog food brands in the past due to salmonella and listeria, consumers
may fear that the dog food that they are feeding their pet may cause harm.
b.Likely level of involvement:
This product evokes a high level of involvement by their target consumer because these consumers
process the information given to them more extensively because they care highly about what they
are feeding their dog. These consumers will focus on the quality of the ingredients, to ensure that

Life After High School
Life after high school can be one of the most difficult decisions in your life. And it is not just one
decision, the college you choose can alter many aspects of your life. When you attempt to
choose a school to go to you have to take into consideration many things. You have to know the
major you want to go for, the minors, location, tuition cost, et cetera. I have so many options for
the next step in my life. For this paper, however, I have narrowed it down to two options: Miami
University and the University of Cincinnati. It is a close race between the two, but based on my
recent visit to Miami going there for college would be the better option for my future. Money is
an issue for mostly all college students, everyone is always worried about the debt they will
obtain by going through schooling and how they are going to pay it off. Unless someone can get
a full ride scholarship, you are going to have to owe money to the university you go to. My
solution is that I will be making enough money after college to pay it off pretty quickly so I do
not have to owe too much money throughout my life. Miami tuition is around $15,000 and room
and board is around $13,000 so the total is somewhere close to $28,000 ( 2017 Cohort ).
Cincinnati tuition is $11,000 and room and board can be from $11,000 to $13,000, so between
$22,000 and $24,000 would be the total ( UC Facts ). I intend to get scholarships through various
companies or associations to bring the total price per year down.

The Role Of The Seigneurial System In New France
The seigneurial system of New France played a central role in the formative years of the North
American French colonies, as it provided the systematic framework of settlement in the Canadian

to New France during its in the colonies developmental years (Trudel 20), there were faults within

Eighty per cent of the population of New France lived in rural areas that was governed by this
system of land distribution and occupation (Mathieu). The geographical pattern of the seigneurie
is shaped and imposed by the waterway; parallel lines perpendicular to the frontage are drawn,
which gives the seigneuries the shape of narrow rectangles (Trudel 3 4). As the distribution of
land follows a systemized succession, settlers are unable to take up isolated lots or survey lots
as they wished. The ordered progression is usually lot by lot along the St. Lawrence and then,
when the riverfront in a given seigneurie was allocated, in fairly ordered rows behind (Harris 74).
The division of land into river lots, referred a cadastral system, was employed at the beginning of
Canadian settlement and remained the Canadian norm throughout the French regime. This
practice had been used in medieval colonization schemes when it was introduced from
Normandy (Harris 74). The land which was divided in a particular way (i.e. in long, narrow
rectangular strips of land) provided many advantages for the people living in the area. The strips
of land were well adapted to the local terrain (Mathieu) as they simplified the interaction between
neighbours; families were able to live on their own farms and had easy access to the

Executive Summary
Mixed Martial arts, The UFC s official sport is one of the most exciting and fastest growing sports
in the world. The sport is best described as combat sports were two individuals are matched inside
a cage, octagon or ring for a period of three to five, five minute rounds. The match is won by
knocking out your opponent, submitting them or winning by a decision, judged by three ringside
judges. Mixed Martial arts has changed throughout the years as new rules and weight classes have
been progressively introduced throughout the years in order to streamline and downplay its image.
Nonetheless Mixed Martial Arts from its on set in the late 1980 s has been marred with
controversy often described as a barbaric sport with little to no rules. Several critics lobbied at its
early existence to try and ban the sport from entering the mainstream. In the late 1990 s, Senator

Malthusian Catastrophe Research Paper
A reverend named Thomas Robert Malthus, who was influential in the fields of economics, politics,
and demographics, came up with the theory of malthusianism. Malthusianism describes how the
population tends to increase at a faster rate than its means of subsistence, and unless it is checked,
it will cause widespread poverty and degradation. Malthus also wrote an essay on the principles of
population, which described that unchecked growth is exponential, while the growth of the food
supply is expected to be minimal at best.
Malthus believed there were two checks that could reduce the population, returning it to a more
sustainable level. He believed that abstinence, delaying marriage until finances become suitable for
a family, and restricting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of natural Malthusian catastrophe would be a disease that wipes out most of the
poverty in a region. An example of forcing a Malthusian catastrophe would be setting laws on the
number of children you can have. I think it would be best to let it happen naturally, but if it is to
out of control, then it would be better to force it. The longer a country remains over populated, the
harder it will become to be able to return the population back to balance.
If a Malthusian catastrophe were to happen naturally, you could say that the earth has its own
checks to maintain the population. When a certain region becomes over populated, that region
becomes filled with poverty. A deadly disease could arise and kill many of the people living in
poverty, balancing out the population back to normal. Many people who live in poverty do not
have good living conditions, and a severe storm could also cause a lot of destruction and death.
A Malthusian catastrophe can be simplified into three basic concepts: production, distribution, and
technology. These three concepts can all be related back to the food supply of a population. How to
produce more food, distribute the food equally, and use technology to help prevent a Malthusian
catastrophe.

Public Education in Texas
Public Education In Texas
High quality education is a must in U.S. since it means that today s youth will be prepared with
the knowledge needed to tackle our nations issues. When looking from state to state, you will
notice how various states differ in how well they are able to educate students. Maryland was
ranked number one in the nation by having a high grade point average amongst students and an
equally high graduation rate. Texas on the other hand had the worst grade point average and
graduation rate. The reason for this is the amount of funding that goes into public schools.
Maryland puts a lot of funding into their public schools which helps raise grade point averages.

That view still stands today as many senators and representatives hold hold mainly conservative
views.
The conservative view of education extends to the parents of the students as well. Salaries for
public school teachers and administrators come primarily from state taxes which has been an
issue for them for years. School faculty has been fighting the state for years to have an increase
in pay but that would mean an increase in taxes as well. So when the parents of the students
weigh in they often side with the legislature since a pay raise for teachers would mean a raise in
taxes for them. This is sadly the same case for funding school equipment such as computers, books,
playground equipment, ect.. Since parents are unwilling to have their taxes raised to pay for all of
that, our schools will always fall behind, leaving teachers unable to properly teach our students.
Another challenge is how often Texas changes its statewide testing regiments. So far it has changed
four times over the past century, TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills
) was one of the
regiments lasting from 1999 to 2011. The system currently in use and that will end by next year is
the STARR exam (State of Texas Academic Readiness). The testing regiments change constantly
because they do not accurately gauge a students performance. Also the fact that the main goal of the
curriculum is religious and ideological control further hinders the academic performance of
students. For example,

Vodafone New Zealand s New Office Space Model
Office space is often a business s second largest cost after payroll, and is one area where
companies can make substantial savings. By challenging the traditional criteria around spatial
design and allocation, you can radically improve the value of your buildings for your business and
create a workplace that supports your company s culture and people.
By adopting this model, VodafoneNew Zealand was able to:
Reduce facilities operating costs by around 25%
Reduce staff downtime by 6%
Accommodate 1,360 people in a space traditionally designed for 900, saving lease costs of $2.2m
per annum and fit out costs of $11m
Align its property cycle (ordinarily 10 20 years) to its business cycle (less than 3 years), therefore
aligning its facilities with ongoing developments in the workplace.
This whitepaper examines why other businesses may wish to consider rethinking their physical
space and staff working styles within that space. It looks at hjow technology can be used as a key
enabler to provide an environment that supports the way a business and its people want to work,
and demonstrates how a business can save up to 25% of its building facilities costs (by reducing
electricity, cleaning and rent) in the process.

But their differences main contrast is the country setting for The Yellow Wallpaper

In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman writes that John took his wife away to a private estate far
away from others, meaning the setting is more rural. However, In The Story of an Hour, the
setting is briefly hinted at being more urban or suburban with one sentence, In the street below a
peddler was crying his wares. Because most peddlers stick to urban/suburban areas, it is
appropriate to describe the setting as such. While the next difference could be described as a
similarity, it is important to note that while both women s ends were tragic, they were in fact
different. In the ending of the The Yellow Wallpaper, Jane slips into psychosis. Jane s descent
into to madness includes seeing women in the wallpaper, which leads her to strip it down to free
them, only to end with her believing that she is one of the escape women herself. Yet in The
Story of an Hour, after Mrs. Mallard sees her husband after the false claim that he is dead, she has

Strategic Plan For EHR
When implementing a new EHR, departments need to have a plan in place when the system
causes change to the process and design within the organization. Often times, regulations and
policies need to be changed to coincide with a new system in place, such as a new EHR program
(University of Scranton, 2017). A way to mitigate this situation is to start at the federal level s
regulations and work down the scope from there. This will guarantee that mandatory rules are still

required to follow specific policies and guidelines, the steps in the process need to entertain the best

are 7 steps to the procurement process, beginning with identifying the need to purchase the goods

Under the Constitution the federal government can unquestionably suspend the privilege of the
writ of habeas corpus if the public safety requires it during times of rebellion or invasion. The
issue is whether Congress or the president holds this power. Historical perspective on that issue in
the context of the Civil War requires a study of the actions of Congress and the president, Lincoln s
defense of his suspensions of the writ, and presidential and congressional dealings with and
reactions to each other. The relationship between Lincoln and Congress, like the power of
suspension, has received limited historical attention, with the only extensive treatment a 1907

The writ of habeas corpus provides individuals with protection against arbitrary and wrongful

representatives, whereas all other issues require an affirmative vote of all the five permanent
members besides the nine vote majority rule. Any of the five permanent member states can hence
block the adoption of Council decision on what is infamously referred to as veto power. The veto
power can prevent the adoption of any Council decision in a matter that involves their interests. As
largely as expected, the institution of right of veto at Yalta Conference was met with a worldwide
outcry for its violation of the fledging balance of the UN Charter. United States proposal for the
withholding of right of veto of a permanent member party embroiled in a conflict was ratified but
only for non coercive intervention decisions. The thin line between procedural issues and other
issues in paragraph 2 and 3 of Article 27 of the Charter has been another major bone of contention.
Acrimony in the debate on two contentious paragraphs is further infuriated by the Charter s
prohibiting the Security Council from establishing an accurate line that separates procedural issues
and other issues (De Wet, 2013). Interpretation of paragraph

Elements Of Realism In Red Kayik
Drowning in a river, going to jail, and hurting your friends, this is the hard reality that Brady, a
main character in Red Kayak, just happens to be going through. Brady has to deal with Ben, a
young child of the DiAngelos, a family who just moved in. Brady was Ben s babysitter and he had
dealt with him in a traumatic situation, his death caused by drowning (which Brady s friends took
part in.) This contributes to the fact that this novel, Red Kayak, is realistic fiction. Realistic fiction
is a story that may happen in reality and the five elements are credible events, authentic
characters, real settings, true to life themes, and believable dialogue. Red Kayak is an excellent
example of realistic fiction because it includes three elements like real setting, authentic
characters, and true to life themes. First, Red Kayak, is an excellent example of realistic fiction
because it has real settings. The setting that takes place in the novel is on the Corsica river as well
as the Chesapeake Bay. For example, on pg. 5 it states, ItВґs a pretty river the Corsica. It also states
on the back summary of the book, Brady loves his life on the Chesapeake Bay. In conclusion, Red
Kayak, is an example of realistic fiction since it is dealing with one of the elements, real setting....

The characters that are involved in the book are Digger, Brady, and J.T, but keep in mind there are
of course more characters. For example on pg.106 it states, Digger was in his front yard and,
shooting baskets with his little brother, Hank, when I skidded to a holt on my bike. This evidence
supports the topic because it shows the characters actions in their environment which are most
similar to ours. In summary, Red Kayak has elements of realistic fiction including authentic

Frodo Baggins Lord Of The Rings Hero s Life Cycle
The life of a hero fits a certain pattern. Different heroes from different mythologies all seem to
follow the same events in their lives. In the film, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,

Nail Salon Procedure
3 Things to Consider when Buying a Pedicure Chair for a Nail SalonManicures and pedicures
used to be services offered by all beauty salons. However, as this industry evolved, it is now very
common to find salons that are dedicated solely to nail care. The main reasons why these salons
are preferred by customers is due to the fact that they keep up with the latest nail design trends,
and they use the most modern nail care equipment. The pedicure chair is perhaps the most
important piece of equipment for such a salon, as its quality can make the pedicure experience
more enjoyable for the customer. So, if you own a nail salon, you need to be very careful when
buying this chair. Here are the main factors that you need to consider! 1. The manufacturer As a
rule of thumb, it is always advised to buy from a local manufacturer. This way, if the product
breaks, you can easily find replacement parts. Moreover, the products produced in the USA tend
to be of higher quality than the ones produced overseas. If you are looking for a recommendation,
consider J A USA. They have been on the market for over 10 years, and they are among the best
pedicure chair manufacturers in the world. On https://www.jausainc.com/ you can find a wide
variety of pedicure thrones, as well as other high quality spa equipment. 2. The features... Show

worry about bacteria and diseases. Many of these chairs also integrate different types of massage
systems. Shiatsu and human touch massages are the ones that deliver the most relaxing
experiences, so if you are going to buy a massage chair, make sure it integrates these massage

The Transactions Between Bell Hospitality Limited
Question 1 The transactions between Bell Hospitality Limited (BHL) and Costbite Limited
(Costbite) is undoubtedly a dealing in the course of business and a sale of goods contract,
therefore, it will be governed by the Sale of Goods Act 1979. A contract of sale is a lawful
agreement to transfer the ownership of any particular goods in exchange for an approved
monetary consideration from the other party. This transfer of ownership is also known as the
passing of property. The issues highlighted by BHL focuses on if there is any passing of property
and ultimately, who bears the risk of goods that have been part of the contract. By discussing
each of the goods the 20 bottles of Hollinger finest champagne, 12 bottles of Australian Premium
white wine and the 12 bottles of South African red wine separately, we will be able to determine
if the property has passed to BHL and whether or not, Kerry bears the risk of the loss of the three
goods due to the floods. Generally, it should be noted that the transfer of ownership does not only
occur when there is a handover of psychical possession of the goods. At times, the seller may still
have possession of the goods but the ownership would have passed on to the buyer, and on certain
occasions, the buyer would have possession of the item but the ownership may still remain with the
seller. Thus, many a times uncertainties have risen due to the seemingly challenging task of
needing to prove that they have ownership over the goods but

John P. Kotter s Eight Stages Of Change
Introduction
The definition of change according to the Webster dictionary is to become different or to make
someone or something different. John P Kotter writes that change is always about changing the
behavior of people (preface XII) Kotter explains that change is a concept that is used by
organizations to restructure or improve their business behavior. Many companies find it difficult to
initiate change due to the lack of motivate employees or leaders. In his book Kotter proposes eight
stage process that could help organizations that are looking for change.
Discussion
The Eight important stages of change by John P. Kotter
Stage one: Establishing a Sense of Urgency

He explains that when the right team is not there changes will not happen. Those who should be
driving change are not doing their job, and nobody wants to confront the issue, (Kotter and Cohen,

the work environment will never happen. To create effective teams you need the right people that
can work together as a team. Kotten list four ingredients that are important to create a good team
on page 46 of Kotter and Cohen book:
A single individual who feels great urgency usually pulls in the first people.
Individuals are selected to have the right combination of capabilities within the team.
The team is created by pulling people in and occasionally pushing people out.
As change progresses throughout large organizations, additional group are formed at lower levels.
These teams help drive action within their

the width can be the thickness of a telephone pole. Just envision something like that roaming

other snakes the Burmese python is not venomous. Instead it has rows of sharp teeth to kill its
prey. The deadly python s jaws are not hinged which allows them to swallow things larger than

The World s Fair An Attempt By The United States Government
Introduction
In 1904, millions of people visited the Philippine Exhibit at the St. Louis World s Fair, observing
the displays of native Filipinos and leaving with an impression of savagery. However, this
impression was hardly incidental. To what extent was the 1904 World s Fair an attempt by the
United States government to justify its imperialist involvement in the Philippines? This fair was
carefully engineered by the United States government to impart an uncivilized impression of
Filipinos onto American fairgoers, thereby justifying the need for US involvement. This
commission was a committee ordained by the US government to govern the newly acquired
Philippine islands. This portion of the fair would likely not be present if the United ... Show more

By depicting the Filipinos as savages, the Commission hoped to prove that the Filipinos were no
longer resisting American control and that the US government would benevolently assimilate and
civilize the Filipinos. Additionally, the Commission also hoped to attract American capital and
enterprise by displaying the products of its fertile lands and the abundant undeveloped mineral and
timber resources. This essay will investigate the imperialist motivation behind and methods used in
depicting the Filipinos as savages in need of civilization. It will also analyze the fair as a means to
promote American investment the Philippines natural resources.
The Spanish American War
The motives behind the conception of the 1904 exhibition are rooted in the United States
diplomacy around and during the Spanish American War in 1898. In the preceding decade, the
United States continually attempted to exert its influence over Spanish controlled Cuba. Although
Spain had political control over Cuba, the United States had long been interested in annexing Cuba.
This interest was initially sparked by commerce. By 1820, trade between the U.S. and Cuba had
become so prevalent that many American politicians expected Cuba to become a part of the Union
or an appendage to it. However, the rise of Cuban nationalism became an obstacle, as in 1898,
Cuban revolutionaries began a three year revolt against the Spanish colonial government. This
threatened the United States economic ties with Cuba. In

Women s Marches Analysis
David Brooks, from the New York Times, asserts that the women s marches will not be effective
because they focus on the wrong issues such as climate change and equal pay (Brooks). These
issues are for the upper middle class and do not center around diversity, but rather prioritize
identity politics which is a tendency for people to form political alliances with those of the same
religion, race, ethnicity, etc. Diversity plays a major role in America and it is important for
everyone to embrace it. Brooks also says that another reason the women s marches will not be a
success is because there is too big a gap between the marches and the Democratic and Republican
Parties (Brooks). In order for something to occur, a political party has to

  • 2. The Battle Against Grendel s Mother Beowulf sets his sights towards Grendel s mother shortly after the second attack on Heorot. Grendel s mother is similarly linked to Cain just as her son was. According to the selection, it is said that after Cain was cast away by God, his mark of murder followed him. Everywhere Cain walked, monsters and shadows arose from the ground in which Grendel s mother is a result of. It is interesting to note that the story of Beowulfeffortlessly contorted the Christian story of Cain by adding Pagan influences such as monsters. Nonetheless, like previous battles, the fight against Grendel s mother was a result of vengeance. Grendel s mother lived miserably in dark, monster infested waters, but caused no harm until the death of her son whom she was obligated to avenge. Soon after her introduction into the story, the reader is informed that she injured many, but it was the murder of the king s closest advisor that was most troubling . As one can imagine vengeance is necessary to bring justice to the situation even though the Pagan principle of vengeance defies Christian ideals. The characters in the story understand that this fiend is no weak one, and they offer Beowulf gear in preparation for the battle. As Beowulf prepares to avenge the death of the king s advisor, he is given Hrunting, a special sword. This once again introduces another Pagan element. As the aforementioned, Paganism strongly believed in magical entities; special swords are no exception. Hrunting was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hypothesis My hypothesis for this experiment is that the more copper is wrap around the nail the stronger will eventually be and the more heavy things can hold and lift . Also the thickness of the wire will affect the strength. The amount of space you leave between each loop could also affect the the strength and the time the the nail would hold the metal objects. Background research The purpose of this experiment is to prove if the number of wires wrap around the nail will affect the strength of magnetism. The electromagnets are used in many household items. Electromagnets are Magnets when they have electricity running through them, but they are not regular magnets because electromagnets can be turned on and off, so when when electricity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This were all the materials I used to complete the experiment. First I hold the 2 nails and I wrapped the copper wire on both of them. In one of them I wrap the copper wire 5 times a round the nail and I left a little space in between each loop. Than I decide to coil the wire 15 times around the same nail with almost no space in between them. At the end of each time i wrapped the nail with the loops I left some wire so that I was able to hook it up to the battery. The wire that was left out, I folded it so it could be able to hold on to the battery, positive and negative. The positive was the flat head of the nail and the negative was the pointy bottom of the nail. The type of battery that i used was a D battery. By putting the nail wrap with copper wire into the battery it started creating magnetism. When they made contact the wire and the battery got hot so i had to use the cloth. After this the small magnetic objects were getting attached to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Live Sound Setup Introduction A PA system that is installed correctly and operates at its optimum level will allow a sound signal to travel from one or more microphones to a mixing console. At the mixing console all signals will be mixed together in the right balance and levels and sent out to an amplifier. The signals are then converted into much larger signals and sent to the speakers creating sound waves for the audience to hear. (Fry, 2005) The aim of this report is to analyse by way of reference books, government occupational health and safety guidelines and various sound websites, the installation and operation of a PA system for a one night concert at Centrestage, Invercargill. The concert consists of a seven piece funk band. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Academic Integration Into Career Technical Education The purpose of this problem of practice is to investigate successful programs and curricula that implement academic integration into Career Technical Education programs at shared time Career Technical Centers that lack teachers academically certified The constructivist paradigm emphasizes the importance of exploring how different stakeholders in a social setting construct their beliefs (Mertens, 2015). It also suggests that learners develop a theory and gain knowledge from their experiences; specifically, to understand a process or phenomenon (Mertens, 2015). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This aligns to my problem of practice, since I plan to use the case study design, conduct interviews and review other relevant documents during the data collection phase of my research. On the other hand, the post positivism paradigm is comparative to my problem of practice as well. Post positivists believe that researchers can be influenced by previous knowledge or background as they seek to verify information. Objectivity must be adhered to and procedures strictly followed so that personal bias does not influence outcomes during the research process (Mertens, 2015). Verifying information about academic integration and increased student achievement in my problem of practice could lead to the identification of relationships and prove or disprove the what questions. For example, what evidence exists that the integration of academics into CTE courses at shared time centers has resulted in positive educational outcomes? Does the information related to the question need to be verified? Or does it just make logical sense that academic integration improves student achievement? If the phenomenon is verified, who will benefit? With my background and experience in CTE and academic integration as a teacher and administrator, true objective knowledge may be difficult to achieve, but I believe it can be done with careful planning and by following strict procedures. The purpose of those like (insert people s names) and their causes are explained in detail; but also gives a background on each person s life and the struggles that they themselves dealt with when they first moved to Canada. Some groups or movements are also touched on in detail, and how they had an impact on the way civil rights changed both socially and politically as they were eye opening experiences for the Canadian government and its citizens. The Relationship between Black Canadians and Civil Rights in Canada In the eyes of a Canadian, the notion of human rights has evolved drastically over time. Change is ignited when someone feels as though they are being treated unfairly and action is taken to reverse this oppressive environment. There has been a historical pattern of unjust and inhuman acts towards perceived racially inferior groups in Canadian history during the 20th century. After the 1905 revolution Russia was in need of reforms both economically and politically, to allow it maintain its role of a great power and to prevent another revolution occurring the answer to this was the October Manifesto. However, due to the stubbornness of the Tsar who was determined not to relinquish his autocratic powers, what may have appeared as reforms were largely superficial making little change in particular to the Russian political system. This had a big impact, as it lead to 50% of peasants having ownership of land, and agricultural production had risen from 45.9 million tonnes to 61.7 million tonnes in 1913. It is said by historians that had war not broken out, Russia could have developed a more stable, loyal and prosperous peasantry, as Stolypin envisaged. On the other hand, despite the rise on crop yields and production, not much was done about the living and working conditions of Russia s industrial workers. This was definitely shown after his assassination, where a plague of Russian unrest came around again, only leading to the Lena Goldfield massacre of 1912 in Siberia, which led to strikers being killed by the police. This was then a tipping point for more strikes and demonstrations, reminiscent of the 1905 revolution, to take place, showing that despite the fact Stolypin had helped reform a little economically, it was immediately undone by the wrath of popular unrest amongst the lower classes once more. From these two arguments it is very easy to see points helping question the extent of the Russian economic and political changes over the years, but I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. A Background On Security Design Patterns Essay In this section, we present a brief background on security design patterns and FCA. 2.1.Security Design Patterns Christopher Alexander first introduced the concept of design patterns for use of living spaces, in his book A Pattern Language , published in 1977 [3]. The concept of a pattern was adopted by the software community in the book Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object Oriented Software , published in 1994 whose authors Gamma, Helm, Johnson, and Vlissides are known as the Gang of Four [4]. The first design patterns related to security were published by Yoder and Barcalow in 1997 which described 7 design patterns. Subsequently, many design patterns and pattern catalogs were published. Important contributions are by Romanosky [5], Kienzle et al. [6], Blakley and members of the Open Group security Forum [7], Hafiz et al. [8,9] and the Microsoft Patterns and Practices group [10,11]. In their book published in 2005, Schumacher and a working group of security pattern experts, discussed 46 patterns [12]. Steel et al. [13] compiled a catalog of 23 core security patterns for J2EE and web services. Dougherty et al., at the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute, described 15 design patterns in their guide to Secure Design Patterns [14]. Fernandez presented 68 design patterns in the book Security Patterns in Practice: Designing Secure Architectures Using Software Patterns [15]. Today the total number of security design patterns is around 400 [16,17]. To ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Usefulness Of The Statement Of Work Essay Introduction The attempt for this paper is to explain the usefulness of the statement of work (SOW) and a development plan (DP). The SOW can devise a plan for this client with possible interventions, plans and pre work, task, and innovative ideas to better her current situation. The SOW is a detailed description of activities that are conducted under a contract (Business Dictionary.com, 2016). She may consider implementation of change in various departments. However, the bottom line for this client seems to be that she wants her employees to work as a team without harsh feelings toward one another. In addition, she would like the employees in her product division to work more harmoniously together. A DP is an opportunity for the different departments and the client to plan for employee development strategies and enhance the business functions. During this process reviewing interventions, plans and pre work, task, and innovative ideas may aid everyone in focusing as a team in the future. Here the idea is to enable those vested to have a more defined picture of potential costs and drawbacks to certain business decisions and to help them modify accordingly before implementing any ideas. It is important for those vested to continue on the path of their ultimate objectives through this development planning process. • 14. The Global Economy Has Suffered And Pushed Through Many... In the year 2015, the global economy has suffered and pushed through many hurdles. In the first quarter, the American economy made a painstakingly slow progress in many places, while still dealing with other key players in the global market that had potential to hurt the markets even further. Greece and China have both caused lots of worry throughout the world; Greece not using the Euro as their currency could have hurt the market, as well as China s government devaluing their own currency, causing a ripple effect throughout other markets. World trade itself has shrunken, adding new fire to the already blazing financial crisis at hand. Some would even argue that the first and second quarter of 2015 were the worst performing quarters that the world has seen in a very long time. Back in the 1990 s, growth in world trade was generally faster than growth in the GDP, or gross domestic product. However, recently this has changed both have scaled back. Hyperglobalization, a term used to describe the process of international intergration that arises from interchanging world views, products, ideas, and other aspects of culture, had begun by China s gaining their own sovereignty, the former Soviet Union, and a reduction in trade barriers, as well as the creation of WTO (world trade organization. In my experience, TV in general is doing a huge disservice to any hopes of future racial parity by its extremely unfair portrayal of the young African American male. These young men are literally only shown on TV as sports stars, in the very best cases, and unfortunately most commonly seen as jewel adorned rappers, spewing obscenities, making offensive gestures at the camera, hustling around scantily clad young women as if they are simply commodities, and rapping about having sex and smoking weed. Honestly, in the past few months I have yet to see a young African American male portrayed as thoughtful, analytical, poetic, artistic, or even, sadly enough, remotely intelligent or mature. This might be acceptable if the case was such, but my experience alone proves otherwise. I know plenty of young African American males who are mature beyond their years, and extremely academically inclined. However, for reasons unbeknownst to me, the media industry is either stuck on typecasting these men or deliberately choosing to represent them only as non intellectual people. This is an outrage because inherently it does not allow young African American males to even entertain the idea that they can and should rise above the image of themselves with which they are barraged every day. What does exotic mean when pertaining to an animal? According to Merriam Webster dictionary exotic means not living in the natural habitat the animal is accustomed to living. Taking an animal out of their normal habitat is cruel and can be torturing. Keeping exotic animals as pets can also be cruel and unusual punishment, not to mention the dangers that can occur. The expense to care for an exotic animal can be very costly for instance the food, the space and vaccines if needed. Some exotic animals can even carry diseases that can be spread to a young child or even an elderly person. Not to mention the harm that can be done on a human at a given notice. Some states even have legalized that no one person can own an exotic pet making the smuggling effort into the country costly or deadly to the animal. Some states a person has to have a licensure in order to own an exotic animal but this does not protect a person from harm or contracting a disease, this just means one can legally own an exotic animal. Wildlife should be left just as the name states, in the wild, not as an exotic pet, in their natural habitat. For a definition of autonomy, we might quote Holec (1981: 3, cited in Benson Voller, 1997: 1) who describes it as the ability to take charge of one s learning . On a general note, the term autonomy has come to be used in at least five ways (see Benson Voller, 1997: 2): for situations in which learners study entirely on their own; for a set of skills which can be learned and applied in self directed learning; for an inborn capacity which is suppressed by institutional education; for the exercise of learners responsibility for their own learning; for the right of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the context of education, though, there seem to be seven main attributes characterising autonomous learners (see Omaggio, 1978, cited in Wenden, 1998: 41 42): 1. Autonomous learners have insights into their learning styles and strategies; 2. take an active approach to the learning task at hand; 3. are willing to take risks, i.e., to communicate in the target language at all costs; 4. are good guessers; 5. attend to form as well as to content, that is, place importance on accuracy as well as appropriacy; 6. develop the target language into a separate reference system and are willing to revise and reject hypotheses and rules that do not apply; and 7. have a tolerant and outgoing approach to the target language. About two centuries after Aristotle, Hipparchus showed that the model better predicted the motion of the heavens if the Earth was placed slightly off the centre of rotation of the celestial spheres. Inventory is considered to be the raw materials, work in process goods or completely finished goods that are a portion of a business s assets that are ready for use or will be ready for sale to customers. Possessing huge amount of inventory for longer period of time is not considered to be usually good for a business because of inventory storage, obsolescence and spoilage costs. On the other hand, we also need to consider that possessing too little inventory isn t good either, because the business runs the risk of losing out on potential sales and potential market shares. For this paper, however, I have narrowed it down to two options: Miami University and the University of Cincinnati. It is a close race between the two, but based on my recent visit to Miami going there for college would be the better option for my future. Money is an issue for mostly all college students, everyone is always worried about the debt they will obtain by going through schooling and how they are going to pay it off. The geographical pattern of the seigneurie is shaped and imposed by the waterway; parallel lines perpendicular to the frontage are drawn, which gives the seigneuries the shape of narrow rectangles (Trudel 3 4). As the distribution of land follows a systemized succession, settlers are unable to take up isolated lots or survey lots as they wished. The ordered progression is usually lot by lot along the St. Lawrence and then, when the riverfront in a given seigneurie was allocated, in fairly ordered rows behind (Harris 74). The division of land into river lots, referred a cadastral system, was employed at the beginning of Canadian settlement and remained the Canadian norm throughout the French regime. However, In The Story of an Hour, the setting is briefly hinted at being more urban or suburban with one sentence, In the street below a peddler was crying his wares. Because most peddlers stick to urban/suburban areas, it is appropriate to describe the setting as such. While the next difference could be described as a similarity, it is important to note that while both women s ends were tragic, they were in fact different. In the ending of the The Yellow Wallpaper, Jane slips into psychosis. Jane s descent into to madness includes seeing women in the wallpaper, which leads her to strip it down to free them, only to end with her believing that she is one of the escape women herself. Yet in The Story of an Hour, after Mrs. Mallard sees her husband after the false claim that he is dead, she has a heart attack. Ending in madness and death, both stories ends are tragic for both women, but serve a purpose. Without these ends the stories full shock effect would not exist. Often times, regulations and policies need to be changed to coincide with a new system in place, such as a new EHR program (University of Scranton, 2017). A way to mitigate this situation is to start at the federal level s regulations and work down the scope from there. This will guarantee that mandatory rules are still being followed and there is successful transition into future policies. Additionally, funding will be crucial to the organization s ability to have a new EHR system. Each department needs to ensure they are properly tracking funds and that they can afford to upgrade.... There are 7 steps to the procurement process, beginning with identifying the need to purchase the goods and services. During step one, the administrator would supply potential vendors with a request for proposal (RFP). The RFP is a bidding technique used by the identity requesting the procurement for the vendor s business. By doing this, the administrator has made it known that they have finances available for the EHR system they are looking into (Wikipedia, 2017). The second step in the process is exploring possible vendors. During this step the administrator is using the request for information (RFI) to investigate the ability of the vendor to follow through with the needs of the EHR system they are supplying. Each Security Council member has a single vote, and all decisions of the Council are decided by a popular vote of nine members. Any of the five permanent member states can hence block the adoption of Council decision on what is infamously referred to as veto power. The veto power can prevent the adoption of any Council decision in a matter that involves their interests. Elements Of Realism In Red Kayik Drowning in a river, going to jail, and hurting your friends, this is the hard reality that Brady, a main character in Red Kayak, just happens to be going through. Brady has to deal with Ben, a young child of the DiAngelos, a family who just moved in. The Transactions Between Bell Hospitality Limited Question 1 The transactions between Bell Hospitality Limited (BHL) and Costbite Limited (Costbite) is undoubtedly a dealing in the course of business and a sale of goods contract, therefore, it will be governed by the Sale of Goods Act 1979. A contract of sale is a lawful agreement to transfer the ownership of any particular goods in exchange for an approved monetary consideration from the other party. This transfer of ownership is also known as the passing of property. The issues highlighted by BHL focuses on if there is any passing of property and ultimately, who bears the risk of goods that have been part of the contract. By discussing each of the goods the 20 bottles of Hollinger finest champagne, 12 bottles of Australian Premium white wine and the 12 bottles of South African red wine separately, we will be able to determine if the property has passed to BHL and whether or not, Kerry bears the risk of the loss of the three goods due to the floods. Generally, it should be noted that the transfer of ownership does not only occur when there is a handover of psychical possession of the goods. At times, the seller may still have possession of the goods but the ownership would have passed on to the buyer, and on certain occasions, the buyer would have possession of the item but the ownership may still remain with the seller. Thus, many a times uncertainties have risen due to the seemingly challenging task of needing to prove that they have ownership over the goods but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
