Controversical Actions Of Witchcraft In Arthur Miller s...
In my opinion i believe that The Crucible is based on hysterical. The reason being because they don
t really have any prove or anything that shows that witchcraft existed. I feel like the girls just
wanted attention brought to themselves. So that s why i think they started to admit or say that they
talked to the devil, demands and associated with witchcraft. Clearly the trials are begun by the
wagging of tongues after the girls are found in the woods, but gossip certainly has a more
enduring role. Hysterica supplants logic and enables people to believe that their neighborhoods,
whom they have always considered upstanding people, are committing absurving unbelievable
crimes, communicating with the devil, killing babies, and so on. Abigail and the other girls
falsely testify that certain individuals are involved in witchcraft and have begun a community
members. She is accusing people of having connections with the devil and she is influencing the
other girls to join in and accuse innocent townspeople. In the play, this is the first example of
assumptions being made by Abigail.During the trials every girls fake illness and gets caught up. In
the Crucible, the townsfolk accept and become active in the hysterical climate. Not only out of
genuine religious piety but also because it gives them a chance to express repressed sentiments and
to act on long held grudges. Like the most obvious case that i think is Abigail who uses the
situation to accuse

Atticus Finch Injustice
The book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee has been a must read for so many years due to
the story of the common lifestyles in Maycomb, Alabama told by Scout Finch an eight year old
daughter of a well known lawyer, Atticus Finch. Atticus was not only known for his practice, he
was also well respected in his community because of his morals, and dedication to help his
people. The people of Maycomb have made a place in the readers hearts because of the difficult
situations there have faced. The rape trial against Tom Robinson has made an impact on Maycomb
no one could deny. The classic book has become massively influential because it has taught the
readers how to empathize with characters they don t agree with, have courage to do the right... Show

The character Atticus once again is a perfect role model of a person who has passion for their
job which gives him courage to change the world with his work in serving justice. Although the
case of Tom Robinson trial against Myela Ewell was sprung on him and he knew their chances
were hopeless, he still treated it like another case of his and braved the trial. When Scout asks
why Atticus must defend Tom Robinson, Atticus replies with the main reason being that he
couldn t be the lawyer, and parent he s worked hard to be any more if he didn t defend Tom.
Atticus s decision to defend Tom is born out of his need to be seen as a lawful, moral, responsible
citizen and father, not out of an urgent ethical need to change bitter racist conditions (Dogra, 43).
Courage in this circumstance is not the commitment to change the social class settings in
Maycomb, but it is to have the diligence to do your job the best you can in hopes that it will serve

Minorities, Racial, And Social Inequality
Minorities experience homelessness compared to white counterparts. Minority groups experience
countless discrimination in employment, housing and criminal justice system. Those who have a
criminal history experience difficulty in finding a job and a home, which leads to homelessness if
they fail to do so. African Americans are imprisoned at higher rates than other groups. Their place
in education justifies are racial inequality because they have to be put into overcrowded and under
resourced school due to lack of many. This leads to fewer opportunities in the real world. In turn,
minorities turn to drug dealing and being part of gangs to uphold their families. Desperate times

According to 2015 U.S. Census Data, African Americans have the highest povertyrate at 24.1%,
followed by Hispanics at 21.4%. Asian Americas had a poverty rate of 11.4% and Whites had a
poverty rate of 9% (US Census). The Montrose Center in Houston has a program called LGBT
Switchboard. The Switchboard is a 24 Hour Helpline for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
community. They assist LGBT individuals who have become targets of domestic violence and
sexual assault. The Helpline assists with depression, suicide, crisis intervention, domestic violence
help and shelter help, sexual assault and hate crime support, addiction support and treatment, HIV
and STD information and LGBT affirming resources. The Switchboard also provides community
events and visitor information for those seeking help. This program is only provides help to Texas
residents only, so those coming from another part of the United States would not be able to find
help from them. I would inquire from the Helpline, if they have ever declined a call from a LGBT
individual who was not a Texas Resident, and why are they only limiting help to Texas Individuals.
I would suggest the Montrose Center to help the non Texas Residents with as much information as
they can before the LGBT individual does something harmful to themselves and others. Only thing
a person needs while going through crisis is to know that someone is there for them and care about
them. National Alliance to End

Introduction The main purpose of this study is to know how did Tatweer Company success in the
extraction of oil and raw materials; determine the relationship between the government, the other oil

Motivations for Young People to Engage in the MLM-Business...
Modeling Nature Motivations for young people to engage in the MLM business Vemma
Nowadays, having a bachelor s or even a master s degree does not have any guarantee for future
employment (Fevre, 2007). Furthermore, the rates of job dissatisfaction are extremely high
(Fevre, 2007).People are not satisfied with the type of work they do, neither with the people
whom they work with or their working hours (Fevre, 2007). During this time of high rates of job
dissatisfaction and low employment, the concept of running your own business or being your own
boss may sound attractive for many. Due to the rise of social media and interconnection between
individuals, especially in the past 10 years, network marketing seems like a great opportunity for
people who are not satisfied with the job they currently practice. A special case that has attracted
my attention in the past months is Vemma, an online business where the basic idea is that you
purchase the specific product, promote it to others, make sure others buy it through you and get
paid as a reward. Although it is accused by many of being just another corrupt pyramid scheme,
around me I observe quite a high number of young, motivated people joining Vemma and claiming
they make money with it. The main question of this report becomes: what are the motivations for
young people to join the Vemma business? In this paper, I wish to link this phenomenon to Ajzen s

Arnold s Dover Beach

Doubt on Dover Beach:
An Exploration of the Loss of Faith in the Victorian Era The Victorian age is marked by the sudden
and startling changes it brought on the western world. As industrialization, intense colonization, and
expanding practices of sciences abounded, the traditional ideas and ideals that had once seemed
constant and true, were suddenly precarious. Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach has become
quintessential to the Victorian literary canon as it is exactly this struggle with a loss of constancy
and the confrontation with the unknown and uncertainty that Arnold evokes within its lines. Dover
Beach explores the potential effects of these sudden shifts in culture; particularly the shift towards
scientific exploration and the threat this shift had on notions of Christianity and faith. The poem
acts as a grand sweeping metaphor for the ideas of constancy and doubt as it lures the reader into a
sense of permanence and complacency before undermining that sense by contradicting itself and
implementing mistrust; ultimately it leaves the reader with a sense that since faith is not eternal,
nothing is. This metaphor is enhanced and nuanced through Arnold s interesting use of structure
and sudden shifts in tone. The first stanza of Dover Beach consists of fourteen lines in iambic meter
(though not iambic pentameter) with varying lengths and features a seemingly random rhyme
structure of:

Social Cultural Learning Can Be Illustrated Through The...
Social cultural learning can be illustrated through the examination of businesses operating out of
both developed and emerging economies. A close examination of their similarities and differences
provides distinctions with their beliefs toward business operations and ethics. This type of
examination can lend insight into how companies within emerging economies are able to leverage
their resources and capabilities in the development and growth of successful operations. The
pervasive thought is emerging economies represents untapped potential (Chiou, 2013). However
many companies such as Walmart have undertaken operations within these markets only to come
up unsuccessful (Peng, 2014). So why would a US giant such as Walmart face problems... Show

Assessment Copycat firms within emerging markets (such as Lenovo, Acer and Tata) can be
considered learning firms. Copycats essentially learned how to conduct business from an already
successful business model. Their ability to transform learning into a viable business has jettisoned
them into positions of power within the world s economies. Lenovo is currently the leader in PC
sales worldwide. Although PC sales in the US continue to decline Lenovo s ability to capture
emerging markets such as China, allows them to continue their profitable growth (Gupta, 2012).
Core Resources and Capabilities of Multinationals in Emerging Economies The one constant
capability with companies from emerging markets is their willingness and capability to learn.
Transforming this learning and the abundance of low cost resources allows these companies to
execute a low cost strategy. This low cost strategy has provided the inlets into both emerging and
developed markets. Using a strict resource based analysis consisting of value, rarity, imitability and
organization (VRIO), suggest such an imitation strategy will lead to parity and average returns. An
example of this would be Lenovo s ability to imitate other successful PC manufactures capabilities.
Lenovo model adds value but their resources are not rare which means it can be imitated and
exploited by another firm. If this is the case why can Lenovo continue to grow? Institutional factors
such as understanding the

Ceo Robert A. Disney Corporation
In his letter to shareholders that proceeds the 2014 financial report, Disney s CEO Robert A. Iger
divulges Disney s brand strategy, he states, we ve reached this level of sustained success by
focusing on three strategic priorities that unlock the limitless potential of this remarkable company:
unparalleled creativity, innovative technology, and global expansion (Fiscal Year 2014 3). Though
Iger does not specifically refer to Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP) in his letter, the company s
strategic priorities most certainly extend to DTP. The Walt Disney
Corporation (WDC) is divided
into four segments: Media Networks (ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel), Parks and Resorts, Studio
Entertainment, and Consumer Products. DTP is a part of the Studio Entertainment Division.
According the Fiscal Year 2014 Annual Financial Report,
Disney Theatrical Group develops, produces and licenses live entertainment events. The Company
has produced and licensed Broadway productions around the world...Disney Theatrical Group
licenses the Company s intellectual property to Feld Entertainment, the producer of Disney On Ice
and Disney Live!. (14)
This statement makes up merely one small paragraph in a 214 page document, which parallels the
reality that DTP is but one tiny drop in the Walt Disney Corporation bucket. It is also difficult to
track what percentage of the WDC DTP represents for several reasons. First and foremost, given the
fact that DTP is a department under the studio entertainment

Catalase Experiment
Discussion: According to the experiment, the highest reaction rate occurred when the enzyme,
Catalase, was 50% concentrated (see Fig.3). However, all of the rates were fairly similar no matter
the concentration, except for the test with 0% concentration. That test resulted in no production of
Oxygen because there was no enzymefor the Hydrogen peroxideto react to so nothing occurred in
the testing container (see Fig. 1). In Fig. 2, you can see that all of the concentrations, aside from
0% concentration all produced very similar amounts of Oxygeneven though there was not as much
of the enzyme in the tests that we added water to in order to change the concentration. The water
took the place of a portion of the enzyme, or all of it, to keep a constant volume of enzyme mixture
and to see how changing the amount enzymes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We used this information to form our hypothesis, which was that the 100% concentration test
would have the highest reaction rate because the more enzyme is the more active sites there are,
so more reactions can occur, and the the Hydrogen peroxide will be decomposed faster, giving it a
higher rate. However, the results of our experiment did not support this. Like explained before, the
test that resulted in the highest rate was the one with 50% concentration. It is unknown why this
occurred. The sources provided in class, a graph, showed that there should be linear growth between
concentration and rate, which supports our hypothesis. Fig. 2 shows that the reaction rate plateaus
towards the end of the 50 seconds, but this is because of the limited and constant amount of
substrate, so it slowed down when the Hydrogen peroxide ran out. Our data did not support our
hypothesis, but the class source support our

Comparing Bartleby, The Scrivener And Bartleby
It is both an unarguable and undesirable fact that we live in a society completely remote from our
fellow man. There is no longer a sense of community between friends and neighbors no brotherhood
in the presence of coworkers in the commercial workplace. Even the higher, spiritual presence that
had once bound together all things in worship and praise has faltered in the face of this profound
apathy. It is not that mankind has lost its ability to communicate modern technology provides us
with the ability to speak to one another over tremendous lengths and sustain friendships in

The secondary title for the novel, A Story of Wall Street, sets the stage for what has become
another moral dilemma of man the importance of commerce placed over the importance of life.
Melville plays with the role of commerce continuously throughout this work, which takes place
inside of a Lawyer s office on Wall Street. The Lawyer states, very simply, that he is a man who,
from his youth upwards, has been filled with a profound conviction that the easiest way of life is
the best, revealing that at the very core of his being is an ideal that anything strenuous he may
come across in his path should be quickly avoided, as to not cause any disturbance in his daily
routine (Melville 1). This accurately sums up the general mindset of those on Wall Street at the
time, and perhaps America as a whole that anything out of the ordinary was considered a nuisance
to those focused entirely on the generation of wealth. The Lawyer recognizes this, and even
considers himself a part of this crowd. However, he has taken the time to write this account of
Bartleby, the Scrivener that arrives one day to fill a position in the office. While Bartleby may
represent this nuisance exactly, the Lawyer finds himself drawn towards the mysterious quality he
brings, unaware whether he will be beneficial to the firm or

Social Responsibility And Health Care
Nursing is more than just the physical care that is delivered; it is the protection and promotion of
health, the alleviation of suffering and the prevention and treatment of illness and injury
(AHPRA, 2015). Workplace citizenship and its three core elements of team work, social
responsibility and communication are essential in the nursing profession to develop skills and
give the best nursing care that is possible, because of how these elements work individually as
well as together. This essay will explore the negative and positive effects of each core element and
how it affects the care that is delivered by nurses.
Communication in nursing is an essential skill which allows nurses to capably deliver effective
and efficient care. Nurses being providers of health care must be able to recognise and prevent
barriers that may occur throughout the communication process as their job is to primarily interact
with patients in a culturally diverse workplace (Dwyer, 2012). Barriers such as health illiteracy
and poor communication play an important role on the care that is delivered by nurses and other
health care providers. In 2006 an adult literacy and life skills survey was conducted by the
Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), information collected from the survey had shown that 59%
of the Australian adult population displayed low health literacy skills. This high figure indicates
that nearly 6 out of 10 Australians over the age of eighteen may not be able to make appropriate

Advertising And Its Effect On Advertising
When comparing advertisements, certain ones will appeal to people differently.
Advertisements are made to get someone s attention in a quick manor. Some people are more
enticed to humor, while others could be drawn to a more sexual image, or something more
creative that requires intelligence to create and understand. First, by taking a sip of the Pepsi
advertisement, I noticed the horizontal advertisement has a gentle light blue background. The
Pepsi logo sits in the corner, not drawing much attention to itself. In the center of this ad is a
Pepsi can. Next to the Pepsi can is a red can with a silver curved thick line going up the side from
the bottom of the can to the top, resembling a Coke can. The difference between these two cans
is that a straw going straight into the Pepsi can, while there is a straw with arms pushing itself
away from the Coke can. The background has a slight gradation to a lighter, almost white color
behind the Pepsi can. This makes the Pepsi can look as if it has a glow. It demands the attention
to be drawn to that can. This advertisement is trying to say that Pepsi is better than Coke, without
actually saying it. A broader look at it could be that it s saying that Pepsi is better than the leading
pop. The audience of this advertisement is not only people who drink pop, but also people who are
exposed to the media, and see it on television or in magazines. This advertisement probably gets the
attention of people who enjoy humorous advertisements

Yet, hunger only makes up for a small part of the complications that povertybrings. Without
enough money, how does someone suppose to afford to live in a house? Though most Miami
County residents do not see homeless people, does not hide the fact we have people living
without a home. Peru is not a big city like New York, or Los Angeles, but no matter where you are
at in America, there will always be those who cannot afford to rent or own any type of housing.
Even if everyone could afford some type of housing to live in, it does not mean they can afford all
the necessary utilities. Air conditioning is not a necessity, but someone might not have enough
money to provide a fan. The cost for utilities such as electricity for a fan to keep the cool in the
summer heat, or simply having running water might be a problem for someone with little to no
income. With winter approaching even some people will have to go without heat in the Miami
County area.

Daisy and Myrtle: The Women of The Great Gatsby
Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby is a fascinating work that details the corruptive influence of greed.
The main character is a man named Gatsby. The two main female characters are Daisy and Myrtle.
These two women provide an interesting contrast while complementing each other at the same time.
Daisy is living a life of luxury while Myrtle is struggling to make ends meet. They both play major
roles in the novel, and, although their intentions seem pure and promising enough, they both are
doomed to succumb to greed which causes eventual death.

She aches to be part of an elite class like Daisy, but instead, she is married to a man who is hard

husband, owns a garage. Because Wilson is a passive aggressive character, he does not want to
admit to himself that his wife would cheat on him, even though Tom makes it apparent that
Myrtle is more his wife or property than she will ever be to Wilson. For example, when Tom visits
Myrtle at the garage Myrtle orders Wilson to fetch some chairs while she gives her true lover a
warm greeting.
Wilson gives to Myrtle his complete trust in the same way he provides Myrtle with what she
asks for, but she abuses it. She takes her husband for granted while at the same time, she gazes at
Tom sitting on a pedestal she has made for him. Tom is the man that can make Myrtle s every
fantasy come true, but also the man that will lead to her early death. Myrtle is seen to be a fun
and floozy mistress, but not as a real wife. She, as superficial as it may be, is not someone that
Tom could take to parties and introduce to his parents. Myrtle controls Wilson, while Tom
manipulates her simply for enjoyment. For example, Tom tells Myrtle that the reason they could

In the past, the acceptance of homosexuality was extremely difficult, as it has now been

family and John become friendly, leading to Homer wanting to invite him and his wife for dinner

Women s Role In Big-Budget Films

By doing this, it won t make a difference for an actor or actress to make a powerful deal. If an

Charlize Theron fought and received equal pay for the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman.
Both her and Chris Hemsworth earned $10 million. Because of what happened with American

Pratt earned $12 million. There are still many more negotiations to come. A world with more
powerful women in the media industry who are unafraid to negotiate well is the kind of world we

Internet Addiction Disorder The technology is growing strong every day. More and more people
start to use smartphone, computer, etc. In addition, the main purpose of using smartphone,
computer or any technology devices is to gain access to the Internet. Consequently, people started to
be addictive to the Internet. Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) is the term to describe the massive
using of Internet. IAD is similar with other addiction disorders such as gambling, sex, gaming, or
shopping. People who develop problems with their Internet use may start off using the Internet on
a casual basis and then progress to using the technology in dysfunctional ways. Many people
believe that spending large amounts of time on the Internet is a core feature of the disorder
(Minddisorder.com). In fact, the way that Internet is being used in daily routines is the most
important factor. Internet Addition Disorder or IAD was first noticed by Kimberly Young, PhD,
an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford. According to the
article Trap in the Web , in 1994, Young did a survey on 500 Internet users about their on line
habits. Young separated participants into two groups: dependent and non dependent. She gave
seven questions about using the Internet. If a participant answered yes to three or more questions,
he or she will be classified as a dependent. According to the survey, dependents

Covenants And The Roles Of Profit, Priest, And King
Covenants and the Roles of Profit, Priest, and King in Organizational Management
There are 6 major covenants in the Bible, Adam and Eve, pre flood Noah, post flood Noah,
Abrahamic, Moses, and Jesus, with multiple themes of salvation, Messiah, and grace. Each are
promises between God and His people and have four common elements; a benefactor; God, a
beneficiary; man, terms and conditions, and a token or symbol.
Significance and Meaning of a Covenant
To provide a better appreciation of the Bible, a definition of covenant is necessary. A covenant is
a serious life or death affair. It is a relationship; a sacred agreement between God and all humanity.
It is how God chooses to communicate to us, to redeem us, and to guarantee us eternal life in Jesus.
When God created man, he appeared in His image. Man was physically complete; yet spiritually
incomplete. God s plan for salvation was predetermined and calls all people to receive the Holy
Spirit to grow and become spiritually complete (Fountain, 2014) . Expand a bit!!
Messiah Promised: The Old TestamentGenesis 9:13, I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it
will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. In Old Testament times God initiated and
offered an agreement or covenant between Him and one nation, Israel. Entrance into this covenant
was by physical, natural birth (Gen. 17:9 10). These biblical covenants were in effect during the
time before Jesus death, burial, and resurrection. They were

American Pie Rhetorical Devices
Media has been a vital element to American entertainment since its commencement. This
entertainment comes in all varieties, whether it is film, commercials, music or general
consumer ads. Either way, they are all used to engage or encourage the reader or viewer to feel a
certain way. Music has always been a catalyst for human beings since the first caveman started
tapping his feet in a rhythmic pattern. Music can be used to express any feeling a person can
have about any subject they might think about. It can be used to describe the ideals of an era or
time frame; just look at music over the last one hundred plus years. No matter what, there is
usually always some sort of symbolism or deeper meaning that the songwriter is trying to get to
the listener. It s no debate that the music we listen to today is most definitely not the music the
generation our grandparents or even our parents listened to. The song American Pie by Don
McLean, which released in 1971, is one of the most analyzed songs in American pop culture
history (Shuck). Standing as a story all on its own, a simple analysis of the lyrics reveals allusions
and metaphors in abundance. Analyzing these allusions and metaphors exposes many rhetorical
devices used by McLean.
A cultural revolution all in its own, the 1960 s saw the rise and fall of many great civil rights
leaders. John F. Kennedy, along with his brother, Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., who

How Daily Life Has Changed In Thorton Wilder s Our Town
Do you ever think back to when you were younger and think to yourself how much different it
was from now? The way people talk, dress, what is normal now that people would look at you
weird for doing then? But years go by and some things may change and stay the same but in
Thorton Wilder s Our Town set in New Hampshire 1901 there are many differences and
similarity s to our towns in 2017, More than 100 years have passed since 1901 to 2017 and
through out those years there have been advancements in technology, society, economics, and so
on, so much has changed that it has separated how we lived then and how we live now. Daily life
has become easier and easier yet more difficult at the same time for example we no longer have
the luxury of waking up in the morning and there would be milk waiting for us on our porch, We
also do not have the luxury of doctors coming to our houses in the middle of the night whenever
we or someone we know has a cold. However somethings such as Love, Marriage, and Death will
always remain universal no matter the era.

The Movement Towards Cloud Computing
The world, as a whole, is changing. It is true that some sections of the world are remaining
primitive in terms of industrialization, but the general population is a progressive one. There
are incredible advancements being made in the industries of transportation, communications,
aerospace and defense, as well as almost every industry related to the culture of society. As these
advancements progress and companies innovate, the demand for different products changes.
For example, the demand for DVDs today is no where near what it once was. In today s society,
there is a huge demand for technology based products. Due to this increased demand for
technology, there has been an impressive amount of innovation on how technology is both used
and sold. The largest of these innovative movements has been the movement towards cloud
computing. In about as basic of a definition there is, The Cloud is simply a way to store data
online. Instead of saving something to a hard drive, it can be saved to The Cloud. As one of The
Cloud s many advantages, this allows files to be accessed from any device at any location.
However, it also has some disadvantages. This is arguably the most relevant issue in the business
world today, which is why the sources below will help to analyze the benefits of cloud computing
versus the costs of it. The first source will be entirely related to the definitions of the terms
associated to cloud computing, including The Cloud itself. There are a plethora of terms

This was shown by the correlation value r of 0.64 when p=0.001. Based off these numbers, it
displays that there is a strong relationship and a statistically significant relationship. These statistics
show us that the direction of the r value is positive with a strong relationship and the p value is

I believe this due to the numbers that were produced in the difference column of the spreadsheet.
In this column the numbers come from taking BMI and subtracting % Fat BIA . Based on what
the numbers were in each of these columns could result in a negative or positive number which
means that the results are both overestimated and underestimated; if the number is negative then
the results or underestimated. These negative numbers could come from a wide variety of
circumstances from an incorrect measurement of BMI. First off, BMI measurements cannot
decipher between the different types of fat in a person or the location. The location of fat is key
in terms of increased risk of disease. For example, a person may have a lower BMI than
someone else who appears healthier but if the person with a lower BMI has a majority of their
fat stored in their belly they are at higher risk for disease than a person who has fat distributed
elsewhere. The fat in the belly displays a higher risk for disease due to the fact that it will release
compounds that can commence disease (Cespedes). Fat located on the hips, thighs, etc. are healthy
in a proper amount and do not result in such dramatic increases as fat in the belly

The Final Solution was the term used for the Nazis plan to annihilate the Jewish population
during WWII. The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state sponsored, and murder of

Nazi s decided that certain people should not live and worked on killing them while they were in

Sigmund Freud Superego Essay
In the psychoanalytic theory of Sigmund Freud the idea of the super ego was developed. The
superego as defined by Britannica is the ethical component of the personality and provides the
moral standards by which the ego operates. The superego s criticisms, prohibitions, and inhibitions
form a person s conscience, and its positive aspirations and ideals represent one s idealized self
image, or egoideal. Freud himself described the super ego as the long period of childhood, during
which the growing human being lives in dependence on his parents, leaves behind it as a
precipitate the formation in his ego of a special agency in which this parental influence is

We convince ourselves that the inner voice we hear is good but it is actually a false voice we
have fabricated for ourselves. The superego instils barriers in our lives, makes us less open to
the world around us and more paranoid of the idea of what we should be or should become and
stops new, unplanned experience reaching us. These barriers come from previous experience.
The negative emotions we evoked from our parents and care givers when we were younger were
internalized and became part of our inner voices, our false god. Situations which may have
caused negative feedback are when we would; Speak what was true for us, Take care of
ourselves by making a choice that was threatening to the mindset of a caregiver, Assert

Comparison Of Battlefield And I Could Fall In Love
Poetry is a form of writing that can make a reader feel a collection of different emotions. Poetry
has evolved into songs and is used by many artists today to make the audience feel the message
they are trying to transmit. Nowadays, poetry and song lyrics are very similar as they are trying
to convey emotions and have an impact on their intended audience. The song, Battlefield by Lea
Michele is more poetic and artistic than the poem, I Could Fall in Love by Grace Hays, because of
the use of similes, extended metaphor, and end rhyme. Both the song, Battlefield and the poem, I
Could Fall in Love, have the same theme throughout the writing. The theme of both pieces is
frustration in a relationship and how it is having an impact on the... Show more content on

The thought of one sentence continuing onto the next line creates a very specific tone and
message throughout the piece. Enjambment is used in the poem when it says, I hope you know
the effect / that you are having on me (Hays lines 31 32). There are several lines with
enjambment in the poem and this causes the piece of writing to have a certain flow and a different
reading effect. Another poetic device the poem uses is a very straight forward writing style. From
the start of the poem, the reader knows exactly what the author is feeling and the emotions that they
speaker is trying to convey. This is very important to the poem because there had to be something
in the writing that makes the reader want to keep reading. The article, Is Poetry Dead, says, These
days, poetry is institutionalized. Everyone can write it. But if you want a lot of people to read
it, or at least the Right Interested Persons, there are a few choked channels of Reputable
Publications. Or you can just spray it liberally onto the Internet and hope it sticks (Petri 1). This
quote really emphasizes that poetry has to have something special about it that attracts people and
keeps them interested. Another poetic device used in the poem, I Could Fall in Love, is
alliteration. Although it is not used several times, it is used when the author says I get goose
(Hays line 18). Besides these three poetic devices, there are not any others present in the poem
which is why the song is more artistic and poetic than the

If you are using a credit for a Quick Service meal, you are entitled to an entrГ©e and a non

In the beginning of the story the narrator is completely disgusted at the thought of a blind man

This short story helps make people understand that there is always more to the world than you
know and there is always more to learn. Imagine if a complete stranger came into your life and
changed all your views on the world and had you rethink the way you ve been living your entire
life. You, too, would wantto keep your eyes closed.
This theme is important because people go their entire lives looking but not really seeing. In the
beginning of the story, the blind man asks to see the wife s face, (blind peoples) sense of touch is
no keener than the average person s, but the more frequent use of touch enables them to more
quickly and efficiently analyze the things they touch (Bowles). As humans, we overlook the small
things and concentrate on the big and in doing so, we fail to realize that the little things are
sometimes the hugely important factors in life. This can also go along with not judging people
right away; do not judge a book by it s cover. Nowhere in the story does it describe how the
narrator felt after the blind man drew a Cathedral with him, but you can tell by the words he used
that he had never felt more alive. He felt like he was in an empty world and opening his eyes
would only remind him of the nothingness he s been living. The narrator says many things that
makes it obvious that he is fully capable or looking but that he does not see any solution to fixing
his life. He is leading a boring life he hates with no communication

Edgar Allen Poe s Tales Of Terror And The Raven Essay
Edgar Allen Poe s Tales of Terror and The Raven
The film of chosen I decided upon was Edgar Allen Poe s Tales of Terror, and the reading I
choose was Edgar Allen Poe s famous The Raven. Both the film and the writing included a
common theme of death and tragedy. The film was separated into three different tales, while all
three tales had a very different story line they all included the common theme I stated above. In the
film, I also concluded that for each action there was a reaction, meaning each bad deed done there
was a repercussion to the action. In the Poem, The Raven it also includes death and the sorrow and
the human s need to self torture. Edgar Allen Poe s ability to capture his readers into his dark
imagination of horror and mystery is one that will forever be famous for.
In the first Tales of Terror Morella was a story about a father and daughter whose relationship

Lenora returns to her father s house after twenty six years of being away. Her father Locke isn t

Reflection On A Separate Peace
To Be Human: A Separate Peace Reflection Compassion plays a significant role in everyone s
lives: it is what parents teach their children from a young age, it is how human kindness is
forwarded, it is how people make friends and fall in love. It is simultaneously what fuels the lives
of individuals and what shapes the lives of those around them. In times of waror united struggle,
though, compassion becomes harder to come by. John Knowles, author of the historical fiction
novel A Separate Peace, demonstrates the toll war takes on one s soul through it s main character,
Gene Forrester. As World War II continues amidst the events Gene encounters at Devon School,
the reader observes Gene s transformation into an apathetic human being through his distrusting
of others, actions towards his peer, Leper, and his response to his best friend s death. Gene s
descent of character makes Knowles personal perspective on war clear as well: it either kills you or
kills your mind. Though A Separate Peace follows Gene s life as a junior at Devon School and not
as a soldieron the front line, much of Gene and his peers average school day revolves around the
war. Considering such a state of mind, of course Gene s life parallels the life of a soldier. One of
the most striking similarities between Gene s life and a World War II soldier s is their loss of
compassion amongst tragedy. Like a soldier, Gene entered his battlefield Devon School with his
emotions intact and a healthy bulk of

Symbolism In Friday Night Lights
H.G. Bissinger s Friday Night Lights occurs in Odessa, Texas where Permian football remains
the diversion through which the locals are able to live vicariously through, leading to the local s
attitudes and personal lives relying largely on the success of the team. This is evident when
looking at Jim Lewallen, L.V. Miles, and Charlie Billingsley. Odessa s small size makes it
complicated for people to lead lives separate from football. Most everyone can say that they have
taken part in the football phenomenon, the Permian Panthers. Jim Lewallen may not be a
parent, but football is what he lives for. Being a retiree, Lewallen has been long removed from
the highschool scene and yet he still relies on football as a pastime. He takes satisfaction in the
players accomplishments as if they are his own children. It is what he looks forward to and
what keeps his life interesting and prides himself in knowing all the plays. While anxiously
awaiting the beginning of the season Jim explains to Bissinger, That football is just something
that keeps me going . You know the kids moves, you know em personally. It s just like your own
kids (41). The indirect characterization of Lewallen in this scene leaves us to infer what he is
like on a deeper level, leading the reader to conclude that Permian football is the focal point of
Lewallen s life. It presents him as protective, almost fatherly. The intensity he feels is proven when

Schizophrenia And Its Effects On Mental Illness
Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder characterised by severe disruptions in psychological
functioning and a loss of contact with reality (Meldrum Wilson, 2009). The main question that
arises from the many studies looking at schizophrenia and violence is does schizophrenia itself
make an individual violent or are there other factors from the mental illness that contribute to this?
According to Fazel, Guati, Linsell, Geddes and Grahn (2009), before the 1980 s many people made
no connection between the disorder of schizophreniaand being violent. However, since more in
depth and large research studies has been carried out to look at this connection, it has now been
proven that there is a relationship between schizophrenia and violence.
Schizophrenia can either be interpreted as a unitary disorder with various sub types or as a disorder
where each sub type represents a distinct order. The DSM IV TR identifies four types of
schizophrenia: undiferential, catatonic, disorganised and paranoid (American Psychiatric
Association, 2013). To be diagnosed with schizophrenia, two diagnostic criteria s have to be met
within most of the time in one month, and they must have an impact on the individual s
occupational or social functioning for at least six months. The individual could be suffering from

Analysis Of Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
How Effectively Does McCarthy Create a
Sense of What a Post Apocalyptic
World Would be Like?
Cormac McCarthy creates a sense of what a post apocalyptic society in the novel The Road . He
does this by including dreams, description of the physical landscape and human behaviour. This
helps create a sense of a post apocalyptic world because it gives us insight into what it looks like
and how the people think.
McCarthy uses dreams as a recurring theme throughout the text in order to create his post
apocalyptic world. The novel opens with a dream, in which the author creates a monster. The
author uses dreams to create a contrast between a perfect dream world and the cold, dark terrifying
world that the characters live in now. Its bowels, its beating heart. The brain that pulsed in a dull
glass bell . This could be the author creating a metaphor for the horror that the characters are about
to face throughout the book.
Towards the middle of the book the man says that The right dreams for a man in peril were
dreams of peril and all else was the call of languor and death. He dreamt of walking in a
flowering wood where birds flew before them... but he was learning how to wake himself from
such siren worlds... with the uncanny taste of a peach from some phantom orchard fading in his
mouth... The father feels this because his reality and his life are so terrible, he can only have
perilous dreams because if he were to have dreams that were soft, pleasant and warming then they

How Did Joan Of Arc Changed Society
Joan of Arc was just a girl until she put on the helmet and hoisted the sword that changed the
course of her life. Joan was a soldier for France during the Hundred Years War. Not only was she
a woman on the battlefield, but she led an army at the age of 16. Both her effort in the battles and
her trial majorly changed the outcome of the war. Joan of Arcchanged society and continues to
influence history today through her poor upbringing and dedicated early life, her heroics and
bravery in battle, her courage and defiance during her trial, and her role and influence as a Catholic
saint.
Joan of Arc showed her caring nature even at a young age and this helped her strong influence
over the culture of her time. Joan was born in Domremy, France in 1412 with the given name of
Jeanne D Arc. This is where her common nickname Joan of Arc came from. Domremy was
located in the Champagne district of northeastern France and was the last town that remained
loyal to Charles VII, the heir to the throne of France (DISCovering Biographies). Joan, the
daughter of Jacques D Arc and Ysabeau (Isabelle) Romee, grew up on her father s farm always
working in the fields (Bellitto). She was responsible for herding sheep and cattle and working in
the fields during the harvest season. Joan never attended school and never learned to read or write.
She spent most of her time at the church or praying to the statues that surrounded it. Her religious
affiliation came from her mother s strong Catholic faith

Geography Of Poland
Poland is a small country in Central Europe that is bordered by Belarus, the Czech Republic,
Germany, Lithuania, Russia, Slovakia, and the Ukraine. (Biskupski, 2000) The geography of
Poland is mostly flat with mountains along the southern border. Most of the country is a plain with
no natural boundaries except the Carpathian Mountains in the south and the Oder and Neisse rivers
in the west. Poland offers plenty of scenery including its mountains in the south to the old towns of
Krakow, Zamosc and Gdansk, the wilderness that surrounds Bialowieza National Park and the
Great Masurian Lakes in the country s northern area. From behind the scenes of this country
though lie a dark war torn past and an ever changing boundary line. Nobody really... Show more

This has happened because during World War II, both the Nazis and the Communists
deliberately killed educated Polish citizens. At the end of the war, the level of educated polish
natives was greatly cut in numbers. For forty five years the Communist government tried to put
in place policies meant to reduce social classes. They tried to better education, economic and
educational advancement of the lower class and workers. (Erdmann, 1998) With the
government being successful in creating industrial jobs, there has been a great movement of
people to cities. Currently there are five social classes within Poland: peasants, workers, nobles,
the ruling group, and middle class. (Erdmann, 1998) The workers and middle class have
increased greatly in the past twenty years and continue to rise in numbers. Having established the
National Education Commission in 1770, Poland has a tradition of formal schooling. Education
suffered after the country was separated by war and the higher powers tried to impose their
culture and language on the Polish, but the Germans devoted the most attention to education and,
by 1911, illiteracy had been eliminated in their territory. In the Russian areas, schools were very
few and children were taught in Russian, which made the Polish native tongue treated as a
foreign language. With the establishment of independence in 1918, there was a combined effort
to educate the population. By 1939, illiteracy had been reduced by 12 percent and was less than
1 percent in 2000. As of now there are public schools, eight year primary schools, secondary
schools, and universities. Secondary schools offer basic life skills training, vocational and
technical training, and general college prep education. (web, 2013) State schools are all free and

  • 2. Controversical Actions Of Witchcraft In Arthur Miller s... In my opinion i believe that The Crucible is based on hysterical. The reason being because they don t really have any prove or anything that shows that witchcraft existed. I feel like the girls just wanted attention brought to themselves. So that s why i think they started to admit or say that they talked to the devil, demands and associated with witchcraft. Clearly the trials are begun by the wagging of tongues after the girls are found in the woods, but gossip certainly has a more enduring role. Hysterica supplants logic and enables people to believe that their neighborhoods, whom they have always considered upstanding people, are committing absurving unbelievable crimes, communicating with the devil, killing babies, and so on. Abigail and the other girls falsely testify that certain individuals are involved in witchcraft and have begun a community members. She is accusing people of having connections with the devil and she is influencing the other girls to join in and accuse innocent townspeople. In the play, this is the first example of assumptions being made by Abigail.During the trials every girls fake illness and gets caught up. In the Crucible, the townsfolk accept and become active in the hysterical climate. Not only out of genuine religious piety but also because it gives them a chance to express repressed sentiments and to act on long held grudges. The people of Maycomb have made a place in the readers hearts because of the difficult situations there have faced. Although the case of Tom Robinson trial against Myela Ewell was sprung on him and he knew their chances were hopeless, he still treated it like another case of his and braved the trial. When Scout asks why Atticus must defend Tom Robinson, Atticus replies with the main reason being that he couldn t be the lawyer, and parent he s worked hard to be any more if he didn t defend Tom. Atticus s decision to defend Tom is born out of his need to be seen as a lawful, moral, responsible citizen and father, not out of an urgent ethical need to change bitter racist conditions (Dogra, 43). Modeling Nature Motivations for young people to engage in the MLM business Vemma Nowadays, having a bachelor s or even a master s degree does not have any guarantee for future employment (Fevre, 2007). Furthermore, the rates of job dissatisfaction are extremely high (Fevre, 2007).People are not satisfied with the type of work they do, neither with the people whom they work with or their working hours (Fevre, 2007). During this time of high rates of job dissatisfaction and low employment, the concept of running your own business or being your own boss may sound attractive for many. Due to the rise of social media and interconnection between individuals, especially in the past 10 years, network marketing seems like a great opportunity for people who are not satisfied with the job they currently practice. A special case that has attracted my attention in the past months is Vemma, an online business where the basic idea is that you purchase the specific product, promote it to others, make sure others buy it through you and get paid as a reward. Although it is accused by many of being just another corrupt pyramid scheme, around me I observe quite a high number of young, motivated people joining Vemma and claiming they make money with it. Review Of Dover Beach Sage Walund Gorra Arnold s Dover Beach English 201 3/9/15 Doubt on Dover Beach: An Exploration of the Loss of Faith in the Victorian Era The Victorian age is marked by the sudden and startling changes it brought on the western world. As industrialization, intense colonization, and expanding practices of sciences abounded, the traditional ideas and ideals that had once seemed constant and true, were suddenly precarious. Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach has become quintessential to the Victorian literary canon as it is exactly this struggle with a loss of constancy and the confrontation with the unknown and uncertainty that Arnold evokes within its lines. Dover Beach explores the potential effects of these sudden shifts in culture; particularly the shift towards scientific exploration and the threat this shift had on notions of Christianity and faith. The poem acts as a grand sweeping metaphor for the ideas of constancy and doubt as it lures the reader into a sense of permanence and complacency before undermining that sense by contradicting itself and implementing mistrust; ultimately it leaves the reader with a sense that since faith is not eternal, nothing is. This metaphor is enhanced and nuanced through Arnold s interesting use of structure and sudden shifts in tone. The first stanza of Dover Beach consists of fourteen lines in iambic meter (though not iambic pentameter) with varying lengths and features a seemingly random rhyme structure of: ... The Lawyer states, very simply, that he is a man who, from his youth upwards, has been filled with a profound conviction that the easiest way of life is the best, revealing that at the very core of his being is an ideal that anything strenuous he may come across in his path should be quickly avoided, as to not cause any disturbance in his daily routine (Melville 1). Social Responsibility And Health Care Nursing is more than just the physical care that is delivered; it is the protection and promotion of health, the alleviation of suffering and the prevention and treatment of illness and injury (AHPRA, 2015). Workplace citizenship and its three core elements of team work, social responsibility and communication are essential in the nursing profession to develop skills and give the best nursing care that is possible, because of how these elements work individually as well as together. This essay will explore the negative and positive effects of each core element and how it affects the care that is delivered by nurses. Communication in nursing is an essential skill which allows nurses to capably deliver effective and efficient care. Nurses being providers of health care must be able to recognise and prevent barriers that may occur throughout the communication process as their job is to primarily interact with patients in a culturally diverse workplace (Dwyer, 2012). Barriers such as health illiteracy and poor communication play an important role on the care that is delivered by nurses and other health care providers. In 2006 an adult literacy and life skills survey was conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), information collected from the survey had shown that 59% of the Australian adult population displayed low health literacy skills. First, by taking a sip of the Pepsi advertisement, I noticed the horizontal advertisement has a gentle light blue background. The Pepsi logo sits in the corner, not drawing much attention to itself. This advertisement is trying to say that Pepsi is better than Coke, without actually saying it. A broader look at it could be that it s saying that Pepsi is better than the leading pop. IAD is similar with other addiction disorders such as gambling, sex, gaming, or shopping. People who develop problems with their Internet use may start off using the Internet on a casual basis and then progress to using the technology in dysfunctional ways. Many people believe that spending large amounts of time on the Internet is a core feature of the disorder (Minddisorder.com). In fact, the way that Internet is being used in daily routines is the most important factor. Internet Addition Disorder or IAD was first noticed by Kimberly Young, PhD, an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford. According to the article Trap in the Web , in 1994, Young did a survey on 500 Internet users about their on line habits. Young separated participants into two groups: dependent and non dependent. Covenants And The Roles Of Profit, Priest, And King Covenants and the Roles of Profit, Priest, and King in Organizational Management There are 6 major covenants in the Bible, Adam and Eve, pre flood Noah, post flood Noah, Abrahamic, Moses, and Jesus, with multiple themes of salvation, Messiah, and grace. Each are promises between God and His people and have four common elements; a benefactor; God, a beneficiary; man, terms and conditions, and a token or symbol. It is a relationship; a sacred agreement between God and all humanity. It is how God chooses to communicate to us, to redeem us, and to guarantee us eternal life in Jesus. It can be used to describe the ideals of an era or time frame; just look at music over the last one hundred plus years. No matter what, there is usually always some sort of symbolism or deeper meaning that the songwriter is trying to get to the listener. It s no debate that the music we listen to today is most definitely not the music the generation our grandparents or even our parents listened to. The song American Pie by Don McLean, which released in 1971, is one of the most analyzed songs in American pop culture history (Shuck). Standing as a story all on its own, a simple analysis of the lyrics reveals allusions and metaphors in abundance. Analyzing these allusions and metaphors exposes many rhetorical devices used by McLean. A cultural revolution all in its own, the 1960 s saw the rise and fall of many great civil rights leaders. Another poetic device the poem uses is a very straight forward writing style. From the start of the poem, the reader knows exactly what the author is feeling and the emotions that they speaker is trying to convey. This is very important to the poem because there had to be something in the writing that makes the reader want to keep reading. John Knowles, author of the historical fiction novel A Separate Peace, demonstrates the toll war takes on one s soul through it s main character, Gene Forrester. As World War II continues amidst the events Gene encounters at Devon School, the reader observes Gene s transformation into an apathetic human being through his distrusting of others, actions towards his peer, Leper, and his response to his best friend s death. Gene s descent of character makes Knowles personal perspective on war clear as well: it either kills you or kills your mind. Though A Separate Peace follows Gene s life as a junior at Devon School and not as a soldieron the front line, much of Gene and his peers average school day revolves around the war. Considering such a state of mind, of course Gene s life parallels the life of a soldier. According to Fazel, Guati, Linsell, Geddes and Grahn (2009), before the 1980 s many people made no connection between the disorder of schizophreniaand being violent.
