Similarities Between George Orwell And Animal Farm
Animal Farm is a novel written by English writer George Orwell (1903 1950). The book is about
animals rising and taking over a farm after years of being abused by the human owners. However, the
book has many parallels The Russian Revolution, such as the Animals need to take over the farm and
exile Mr Jones, how Snowball is exiled from animal farm and how Napoleon becomes just like the
very thing the animals sought to exile from their farm.
The overtaking of Manor Farm represents many events that took place during The Russian
Revolution. Firstly, Old Majors speech about how life is miserable and how all animals are equal
draws many parallels with Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto, a book about the basics of
communism. Karl Marx, just like old Major was considered the Father of Communism, just like how
Old Major was Considered the Father of Animalism. Furthermore, Mr Jones, the owner of the farm, is
very similar the current ruler at the time, Tsar Nicholas II. Mr Jones, just like Nicholas II, was very
unpopular amongst his people. He did not really want to rule and did not care for the people whom he
led. Eventually, both leaders were exiled by the people. Overall, through the many similarities
between the rulers of pre rebellion Russia and Manor Farm, and the parallels between Karl Marx and
Old Major, it is difficult to miss the similarities between Animal Farm and Stalinist Russia.
The two battles that take place during Animal Farm represent The Russian Civil War and World

Examples Of Modernism In Grendel
One literary period that I observed throughout chapter 9 of Grendel is Modernism. Modernism
happened between the Victoria Era and Postmodernism where the authors look at chaos to find
meaning, but denies intelligent rationalization and spiritual principles. In Grendel, it shifted a
transition where people have no certainty about the chaos. Instead, they try to search for meaning in
order to find the reality. One example of Gardner s use of modernism is when Hrothulf claimed: In the
old days, they used to kill virgins. Religion is sick (Gardner, p.128). Grendel responded, It is true;
there is no conviction in the old priests songs; there is only showmanship. No one in the kingdom is
convinced that the gods have life in them. The weak observe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He is depressed about what he experience, only to conclude that humanity will fade away. Despite the
fate of man to die, the narrator depended on his faith that God will rescue him from the natural world;
he envision the natural world will soon fade. With these two references, it embodies a worldview that
life here on Earth is never guaranteed. In modernism, people today search the question about what
happens after death, what is the meaning of life, and why I exist. These questions develop the minds
of people to rationalize the facts and to experience the true reality themselves. In essence, they are
looking for the real reality, only to find a purpose to live here on Earth. Even though Ork s priests didn
t believe him that he spoke with Grendel, he fully knows the truth about Grendel that most of the
Danes don t know. As a result, they are left in the cave, wondering and pondering about life without
having the audacity to look at life. Instead, their mere existence is futile on Earth. John Gardner
implemented modernism to show that people s worldviews are influenced, only to search for the true
meaning of

Sara Pahlevaan Influence
Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light, an iconic quote, spoken by
Helen Keller, had a impeccable impact on me this year. Some people walk into your life and change it
for the better. That is what Sara Pahlevan did to me. Her kind, charismatic, and understanding
personality makes the whole world smile with her. Sara s influence on me has given me new insight
about the world around us. My first encounter with Sara was not unusual. Our first meeting was
during theater class, everybody sat down in chairs that were preset in a semicircle with our teacher at
the front. Since this was our first class, nobody knew each other. Since that was the case, everyone had
to stand up, say their name, and tell a fun

Not The Same Song I ve Always Sung
Once again, I found myself weaving in boredom, singing the same song I ve always sung, with only
useless, brainless wolves and mountain lions lying motionless around me. What a boring life this was,
spending my days weaving or practicing magic, never to be visited, always ignored secluded, empty,
without purpose. It had been at least a few centuries since anyone dared to tread the ground of Aeaea,
as this land had become infamous off of the people lost to the witch Circe, which spread infectiously
throughout the people, long ago averting their ships far away from here. As I already knew, the day
would go by without a sound, then a night, then a day, then another night, then another day. Some
immortals had jobs to fulfill, commands to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, after long moments of silence, only filled by my voice echoing throughout the halls, a
group of voices from the entrance cried out my name. Hello, Circe, the voices yelled, we ask of you to
let us take shelter in your hall! Bewildered by the sound of them, not having heard voice speak to me
in what felt to me like an eternity, I swiftly maneuvered to the entranceway; there, I examined twenty
three mortals, one of which stood further back than the others and refused to join them. Rejuvenated, I
let them in, hurriedly preparing a customary feast, with mighty thrones to sit upon, fine cheese, barely,
amber honey, and Pramnian wine. However, before bringing the meal out, I turned toward the table to
see the mortals talking and laughing with each other, sharing their thoughts and spending time with
each other. Stealthily, I grabbed a potion and mixed it into the meal, in hopes that it would make them
forget their homeland. I didn t want them to leave. I didn t want to be alone again. I didn t want to give
up this perfect opportunity to better my existence, whether or not they were only mortals. Thus,
bringing the mixture out to the table, I set it down next to them and waited. Seemingly pouncing on
the sight of food, they immediately began to eat, devouring every last morsel of it. All the while, I
stood and waited for someone to perhaps talk to me, ask me to do something, give

Case Study Of Dollar General
DOLLAR GENERAL Dollar General has become the go to place when in need of small items and
groceries without having to enter a supermarket. Dollar General, like most other companies send their
stores inventory each week to replenish supply. But unlike some of those other companies after
working for Dollar General I realized that the way they handled stock supply and inventory shipment
wasn t very efficient compared to some of those other companies using inventory technologies.
PROBELEM
I feel as if that Dollar General has the right idea by keeping their stores well stocked with supplies but
if customers can t even get around to shop the items due to those items blocking aisle then the purpose
of the entire supply is pointless. After doing some research I discovered what I think is actually
occurring at Dollar General stores when it comes to shipment of inventory. The line chart below
provided by ScienceDirect (Quansheng, 2015), shows how inventory replenishment effectiveness
rates impact retailer s cost. I think that Dollar General is experiencing a destroyed rate, as shown on
the chart as the top line. Which is leading them to suffer a large impact on their internal costs. They
have flooded their stores with inventory and continue to each week when stacks of inventory from the
last shipment haven t even been up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not once did I use any type of handheld device and scan inventory before or while putting it away.
They should incorporate a whole inventory system at each store using RFID tags, barcodes, and
handheld scanners. Dollar General could start by including RFID tags on the shipping trolleys and
containers. ScienceDirect states (Quansheng, 2015), RFID technologies provide a real time
communication with numerous objects, reported after using RFID tags, Procter Gamble and Wal Mart
reduced inventory levels by 70%, and improved service levels from 96% to

Victoria Geography
The landscape of Victoria is key to surviving down there. Located in the Western Cordillera, the
mountainous area has long narrow inlets called fjords that separate this area. The Coastal Mountains,
although rugged and glaciated at times, have many different large forests along the mountain that
consist of cedar and oak trees that can work as protection from predators or animals lurking around. In
addition, the rolling landscapes/lowlands contain granite rocks that create a beautiful scenery and
make it easier to walk along when the road becomes in available to drive on.
Victoria has the warmest and richest weather in Canada! When hiding out in Victoria, be sure to
expect a variety of continental and maritime climate because the climate/precipitation ... Show more

First of all, the climate and the vegetation will work hand in hand in your survival. Victoria is a place
that has a more moderate, dryer climate in the summer and mild, average amount of precipitation. This
is important to the vegetation because it s not too cold where you can t grow anything (seeds, flowers,
herbs etc.) and it s not too hot in certain areas where your crops will burn out and leave you hungry.
Then, the landscape and the climate work together varying from the availability of water to the
population of people fleeing there. Victoria has a very beautiful scenery and the climate works with it
so that you can feel comfortable when appreciating the view. Although it is one of the major tourist
attractions, but not many people spend a lot of their time in the forests on the mountains, therefore
giving you an advantage of space and utilities. In addition the climate works so that the water that is
near you will not diminish and can access it easily by simply walking down to the fjords. Keep in
mind that soil and vegetation also work hand in hand because depending on where you decide to
camp, there will be different types of soil that can affect your planting (I.e. Leached soil). If you re
looking to plant more seeds and herbs look out for sandy loam, which is an even mixture of all the
types of soils and will be easiest to attend to by composting any fruit or nut items you have. Lastly the
climate and the soil work well together because although it can be quite dry in Victoria, there is
enough precipitation to treat the soil instead of damaging (for example having too much precipitation
or not having

Is The Internet Making People Stupid
The style of the Internet definitely has an impact on how we read and think, but Carr did not mention
another contributing factor. It also has to do with the vast amount of information available on the
Internet overwhelming readers. People often do not know where to start when they look up a certain
topic because there is so much information to sift through. If people do not find the information they
are looking for after clicking through one or two links, they often get discouraged and do not bother to
try and dig any deeper for the answer they are looking for. A person trying to do serious research could
go through pages upon pages of information online and still only scratch the surface of their topic. It is
very difficult for a person to create their own ideas and opinions and think critically when they spend
an hour sifting through pages that all say the exact same thing. And while this problem can also be
seen with books, it is a bit easier to sift through books to find information, you do not have to worry
about whether or not the information in the book is valid unlike Internet sources. Some people do not
agree with Carr s view that the Internet is making people stupid, and instead believe that we have
never been smarter. Donald Morrison, a contemporary author and former editor of TIME Magazine,
gives his response to Carr s book The Shallows, Just as we survived the advent of the telephone, radio,
and television which experts back then warned would fry our

difficult because as she s learning to take care of the baby, the baby has a constant imprints on the

The Law Of Marijuana Film Analysis

effects such as rapid heart beat, disorientations, lack of physical coordination, often followed by
depression or sleepiness. According to international statistics, over 94 million people in the US have
admitted using it at least once. In this paper, I will discuss my thoughts and opinions on the
documentary, five things I learned from it, and lastly if I still believe marijuana should be legal or

fact grabbed my attention as I expected it to only last the time when you re smoking it or even fifteen

only feel it as I drink it and about thirty minutes after I finish the drink. As I know marijuana is a little
more powerful, I didn t expect that much of a difference. Another statistic the commentary added was
that fifteen million Americans get high every month. This statistic completely blew my mind when it

Origins And Roles Of B Cells And T Cell
1) How does the body respond when it first encounters a foreign particle or bacterial pathogen?
The way the body responds when it encounters foreign particles of bacterial pathogens is by it having
some cells called phagocytes that will recognize these pathogens, therefore a large number of
phagocytes will be sent to the location of where the pathogens were encountered and the defense
genes will activate, having proteins go through transcription and translation in order to kill the
pathogens in the body.

Love Of Adam And Eve
Adam and Eve were more than just a story about Gods first creations, they were a love story. Healthy,
resilient, and loving relationships are something that all humans crave by nature. Adam and Eve are
perfect examples of this type of love. Jeffery Brown explains in his article What we can learn about
love from Adam and Eve , the importance of the relationship between the two (2017). One thing that
can be learned from the story of Adam and Eve about love is that it is normal not to want to be alone.
In the Genesis God said, it is not good for man to be alone , this is when he decided to create Eve to be
Adams companion. Being alone or isolated is one of the biggest contributors of unhappiness because
humans crave to relate to other people. When two people are joined together in a healthy loving
relationship centered around God, they will enjoy happiness together.
From Adam and Eve, we also learn that love will be challenging. Although Adam and Eve
experienced challenges they did not let that stop them from loving one another. Adam and Eve
disobeyed God and were kicked out of the garden, but they continued to love each other. This shows
people to be resilient and even in hard times there can still be love. Lastly Adam and Eve teach that
relationships should be balanced and have equality. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

show that they are the same being. Females were not created as second to man or separate but instead
made from the initial parts as a helper. Helper Is not meant to be a servant or of less value but as a

States during World War one. The outbreak of the Great War of 1914, also known as World War I,
started with the assassination of Austria Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was shot to death by Gavrilo

Great War was David George Lloyd (CSU, n.d.). World War1 was the very first modern and trench

War I created political dislodgments socially and economically that assisted in reshaping the
Americans life, even after Armistice Day (Faragher, Buhle, Czitrom, Armitage, 2009). The global
effect of World War I involving the U.S. in regards to other countries in the world remained profound
(Faragher, B, C, A, 2009). However, during the Great War on the home front, mixed reviews surfaced
concerning the war. Several groups feared for their love ones that were miles and miles away fighting

During the 19th century new styles in clothing hit middle class status. The dark suit, in depression

suit became an essential uniform for the young middle class adults and boys. Neo classicism
influenced middle class women s styles of dress. A respectable, middle class woman did not wear

Disadvantages Of Industrialization
The Industrialization brought many changes to the United States after the devastating Civil War ,
which brought a many losses of life. At the same time, the war helped the country develop even more
materialistic. The Industrialization began in the United States in 1865 after the Civil War it went
developing for the next five decades. The first transactional railroad was completed in 1869 by
workers from China that were paid poorly . There was many more inventions throughout the
Industrialization from 1869 1914 that helped the Nation developed. The Industrialization was a
process that helped the economy transform into something better and individual laborers are replaced
by mass production and craftsman by assembly lines, but even though it meant maybe more work to
many s. This affected many due to the poorly paid laborers who worked hard and did not get many
advantages from that. It helped in ways that the economy grew even more and better that helped
society but not those who were poor. The Industrialization did not much helped many of the workers,
who appeared most likely to be immigrants, many of them and their families lived in really bad
conditions and had horrible working conditions as well with poor pay for the amount of hours worked,
that sometimes those mass productions consisted of child labor.
Industrialization impacted the lives of many including children who worked instead of going to school
to help support their families. Children back in 1908 1912 worked to get money and help support
financially their families many of these children did not attend school whatsoever. As shown on
document E we observe images of children working in factories, and having jobs that an adult would
have, these children would work to help parents with household. This impact was negative because
many children worked to help parents instead of having a childhood they thought that they had to help
parents out instead of attending school. On document H child labor stopped for the good of the
children, the U.S. set laws in which minors had to follow to be able to maintain a job. Minors ober the
age of sixteen years and under 18 may not be employed except upon the presentation of a school

1. The habitat of the green crab changed after 1900 and this is important because all of the shells
found prior to 1900 are thin and taller than the ones found after the green crab migrated to Cape Cod,

Pros And Cons Of Mercantilism Criticism
Mercantilism Criticisms
Criticisms
Adam Smith and David Hume were the founding fathers of anti mercantilist thought. A number of
scholars found important flaws with mercantilism long before Adam Smith developed an ideology that
could fully replace it. Critics like Hume, Dudley North, and John Locke undermined much of
mercantilism, and it steadily lost favor during the 18th century.
In 1690, John Locke argued that prices vary in proportion to the quantity of money. Locke s Second
Treatise also points towards the heart of the anti mercantilist critique: that the wealth of the world is
not fixed, but is created by human labor (represented embryonically by Locke s labor theory of value).
Mercantilists failed to understand the notions of absolute advantage and comparative advantage
(although this idea was only fully fleshed out in 1817 by David Ricardo) and the benefits of trade.
For instance, suppose Portugal was a more efficient producer of wine than England, yet in England
cloth could be produced more efficiently than it could in Portugal. Thus if Portugal specialized in wine
and England in cloth, both states would end up better off if they traded. This is an example of the
reciprocal benefits of trade due to a comparative advantage. In modern economic theory, trade is not a
zero sum game of cutthroat competition because both sides can benefit.
Hume famously noted the impossibility of the mercantilists goal of a constant positive balance of
trade. As bullion flowed into one

Critical Analysis Of Consider The Lobster By David Wallace
In his essay Consider the Lobster , David Wallace focuses on a long simmering debate of lobster
killing for human pleasure. This article, published in Gourmet magazine in 2004 begins with the
author participating at the annual Maine Lobster Festival, where significant controversy surrounding
morality and ethical duties are raised. The author chose to attend this venue precisely for these issues
and to raise a discussion on a topic discarded by participants and Gourmet s audience. The article
centers around human eating experience at the lobster s expense by cooking it alive; leading to
lobsters feeling debilitating pain. Whether this is true or not, this is the crux of Wallace s intention.
Rather than focus on pain receptivity between vertebrate and invertebrate creatures, Wallace maintains
a soft stance by choosing to be influenced by personal belief. By ignoring the complex dynamics of
pain receptivity in invertebrate animals, Wallace proposes arguments bringing the issue to attention
but balks by making his message appear the topic can be delayed or neglected in pursuit of human
pleasure.
Consider the Lobster brings readers to attention by raising the topic, that is often deliberately
neglected by many of Gourmant s audience during meals associated with lobster cooking. This call to
awareness is targeted to culinary aficionados both cooks, customers and researchers, to engage in
dialogue, highlighting whether it is suitable to boil a creature alive for culinary

Cressida Heyy Summary
Christine Overall and Cressida Heyes are two authors who argue whether transracial surgery is
legitimate under the condition of that transsexual surgery is acceptable. Their arguments are opposing
to each other. Overall insists that both surgeries should be acceptable while Heyes does not agree with
Overall. They both agree with that race and sex gender are socially constructed. Thus, Overall has no
problem with the concept of identity changes for both sex gender and race however, Heyes argues that
they are not constructed in the same way.
Christine Overall is advocating the claim that transracial surgery is not problematic if transsexual
surgery is acceptable. She brings possible arguments and discusses them against rejecters of ... Show

Someone might point out that people who want to have the surgery for identity change, which can be
either sex or race, are not be able to make a right decision or psychologically confused. However,
Overall suggests that we have seen many people who did not have any problem in their work,
relationship, and life after the surgery. If we assume that someone wants to change his or her identity
due to a confusion, this case must be considered with oppression and discrimination that this person
has experienced. Thus, it is not correct to say that people who want to change their identity are purely
due to the mental sickness or confusion. Unlike Overall, Cressida Heyes argues that transracialism is
not reasonable, while transsexualism is. Heyes brings up Overall s statement, claiming if transsexual
surgery is morally acceptable... then transracial surgery should be morally acceptable (269). Heyes
admits that the argument of Overall is clear both sex and race are socially constructed rather than
inherited. Nonetheless, Heyes throws a question if they are constructed in the same way. Heyes would
say no since Overall s hypothetical approach is not meant to consider the history of two different
identities. She also suggests few other differences between race and sex. Heyes brings three different
points between race and sex. Firstly, she introduces One Drop Rule

Similarities Between Australia And South Korea
Australia s economy is much better then South Korea s. This essay will be comparing five different
areas of the economy. These include economic growth and the quality of life, employment and
unemployment, distribution of income, environmental sustainability and the role the government in
health care, education and social welfare. Income is a necessity to achieve higher living standards.
Australia s average household income is 31 197 USD per year, South Korea s average household
income is only 18 035 USD per year. Australia and Koreas employment rates are relatively similar,
over 72% of Australians aged between 15 64 have a paid job, and 64% of Koreans aged between 15
64 have a paid job. From each of these indicators, Australia comes out stronger.
Economic Growth and Quality of Life.
Economic growth is defined as an increase in the amount of goods and services produced per head of
the population over a period of time. This can happen many different ways. For example, if Australia
sees a surge in tourism, and people taking up residence, the demand for goods and services will rise.
The rise in demand will mean companies are producing more and ... Show more content on

followed by rapid decreases whereas Australia has had mild increases followed by mild decreases.
Overall we can see that Australia s unemployment rate is slowly rising, Korea on the other hand, the
unemployment rate is unpredictable and though it has spiked to 3.8% in February 2015, it may drop
just as quick the next month. Australia s unemployment rate is much higher than Koreas, averaging

Health Care and the Reform Essay
Health insurance was developed to provide guaranteed coverage for sickness, injury and preventable
health measures. Currently, the United States is facing a major challenge in controlling the cost of
health care and providing coverage for everyone. This is why it is so important for the government to
develop a new health care insurance plan. The purpose of this paper is to explore the history of health
care, the major improvements made to coverage through the years. Discussing the healthcare reform
and the plans to improve the quality, and cost of health care for everyone in the United States.
Birth of Health Insurance
Health insurance started in the early twentieth century when the working class of America faced the
problem of sickness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the guarantee of payment the first provider health care program was born. It was called Blue
Shield. Blue Shield s role was to negotiate with doctors and hospitals for reduced prices in exchange
for a high volume of customers and guaranteed payment. To make up for the loss of revenue, doctors
and hospitals raised their prices for patients who did not have group health insurance (1). A lot
companies during the 19040s and 50s were able to offer their employees health care benefits, but for
some this was not an option. Many of Americans and small businesses during this time period could
not afford group health insurance. This meant that the government had to come up with new programs
to provide coverage for the uninsured people.
Improvements to Health Insurance
There was hope and a need for an insurance that would benefit the disabled, elderly and unemployed
American people. The Medicare and Medicaid act of 1965 did just that and provided health insurance
coverage to millions of Americans in need. There was a glimpse of light at the end of their dark tunnel
Medicare a uniform national health insurance program for the aged and certain disabled persons.
[Along with] Medicaid which is administered by the states within broad federal guidelines and

Same Sex Marriage Has Become Legal And The View On Lgbtq...
In eighteenth and nineteenth century Europe, also known as the Enlightenment Era, same sex
behaviors were typically seen in a negative light. Sometimes even punished due to laws that were in
place at the time, sodomy laws. Somewhere in the 1920s people began to assume that homosexuality
could be changed through psychology. This movement was so popular at the time that even Freud
stated that homosexuality could sometimes be removed through hypnotic suggestion. However, this
fact was disproven by United States Surgeon General David Satcher in a report, there is no valid
scientific evidence that sexual orientation can be changed. Since this time same sex marriage has
become legal and the view on LGBTQ seems to have shifted, at least in a majority. Each culture has
its own beliefs and perceptions when it comes to homosexuality. In the United States, those
perceptions differ between lesbian or gay, as parents, across cultures, and in education.
When those with different perceptions get together, it could be beneficial to see things from the other s
point of view, or it could be detrimental and cause some sort of fight. However, the biggest detriment
could be with the person who is a homosexual, negative effects on health and well being of this
individual. (American Psychological Association, 2008) The biggest concern has more to do with their
significant mental health concerns that come with such a prejudice of the sexual orientation
discrimination. (American Psychological

authors who wrote first five books of the Bible Essay
Documentary hypothesis says that there were several authors who wrote first five books of the Bible.
In my essay I will try to discuss J, P, and E authors of Genesis, Exodus and Numbers. I must admit
that all these authors had lived after the division of the kingdom.
AUTHOR J
This author was identified as J for using word Yahweh or Jehovah for the name of God. Also there is
an interesting theory that author J was a woman. Of course, there are statements that prove it. First of
all I want pay your attention on the fact that we are speaking about patriarchal society where a man
was a head of the family and the role of a woman was to give a birth to children. But in the Bible we
can find verses and even whole chapters that tell us about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s why Judah is the main character in all stories of J. For example: in Gen.37:26 27 he proposes to
sell Joseph, then in Gen.43:3 10 Judah persuades Israel to send Benjamin with him and guarantees his
safety. And one more interesting thing is that although Judah was only the fourth son, in Gen.49:8
Israel says that his brothers will praise and bow down to him. So in such a way he gets a birthright.
Also Jerusalem and Ark of the Covenant (a sign to the people that God is with them) are very
important for J (2 Samuel 5,6).
I want to emphasize that political and religious systems were very close in that time: J never
mentioned Joshua in her passages because he is from Ephraim (Jeroboam is from Ephraim) and in
Num.25:1 5 J writes that men from Israel began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women
and God said Moses to kill them. This is political decision because Moabites were enemies of Israel.
Also J author has several trademarks . First of all, God in her passages is always anthropomorphic, it
means that all action He is doing by His hands. This is shown in creation story: Gen.2:7 LORD God
formed the man , in Gen.2:21 He took one of the man s ribs and in Gen.3:8 He was walking in the
garden in the cool of the day .
And now I d like to talk about doublets. Besides creation story, we also have two flood stories (J says
that rain lasted 40 days), two stories when Abraham says that Sarah is his sister (J

Plato and Locke s Views on an Innate Idea Essay
Plato and Locke s Views on an Innate Idea
What is an innate idea? This can be defined as some idea or mental
representation that is produced by outside perception or created anew by our
imagination. It exists in the mind in virtue of the nature of the human mind.
According to Plato most if not all of our knowledge is innate. However, John
Locke feels that we do not have any innate ideas. Then the question arises of
who is right or are they both wrong. In this paper I will attempt to examine
the conflicting views of Plato and Locke.
The problem that I will be dealing with involves the different views of Locke
and Plato. The main focus of the paper will be to deal with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Like many others Meno believes he knows what the
virtues are. However, Socrates is not pleased by Meno s response to the
question. Meno states that, it is easy to say that a man s virtue consists of
being able to manage public affairs and in so doing to benefit his friends and
harm his enemies and to be careful that no harm comes to himself. [Meno 71e]
This is not pleasing to Socrates because Meno also finds that women have
different virtues than a man. This topic alone would need an entire paper to
finish therefore, I will move ahead with innate ideas of beings.
Meno wants to know whether virtues can be learned or simply known. Can they be
taught to people or do we just acquire the virtues? Socrates believes that
one s soul or minds knows what one thinks he learns. As this question arises
Socrates uses the slave boy example to explain.
In this example Socrates has a slave boy look at a mathematical problem. After
the boy looks at the problem he cannot work it. However, after being showed the
problem and having it broken down the boy is able to give the right answer.
Socrates begins by guiding the slave boy by drawing out the ideas that the slave
boy already knows or are present in him. From this the slave boy uncovers that
he has ideas that he did not know he had before the encounter with Socrates.
Socrates shows that the boy has never

The Music Video Of Hong Kong
Blur, a British band, released their official music video of the song, Ong Ong , on June 3rd 2015. The
whole music video is weird to most people because of its image covering with pink color and cute
figures. The song is from the album called The Magic Whip. According to the video featuring the
interviews of makings this album, the song is made in Hong Kong, and the song s name, Ong Ong is
actually derived from Hong Kong. This means that the song is about Hong Kong, and a lot of
locations in Hong Kong are mentioned in the lyrics as well ( Blur The Magic Whip: Made in Hong
Kong. ). All in all, we can assume that there are some connections between the issues in Hong Kong
and the cute music video. Instead of heavy, sad and relatively direct presentation of the status in Hong
Kong, they choose to present vague metaphors that cannot easily be discovered because it will result
in serious trouble if addressed directly in public. With the reason above and that the band members
think Hong Kong is a cute place, they developed a main strategy, which is to introduce Hong Kong to
their fans with a series of cute, relaxing, and seemly meaningless emotion of blur, just as their band s
name. In order to pass their message carefully and vaguely, they use fantasy, funny villains, and, most
of all, strong images. First of all, the music video conducts a traditional fairytale story, which most of
the boys and girls fantasized as kids, as a metaphor for the people of Hong

200 Meter Dashes Essay
At the end of my rainbow is winning all the 100 and 200 meter dashes this track season. Last year I
won all of my 100 meter dashes. I won a couple 200 s. The first time I ran the 200 I got 5th. By the
end of the year I had dropped off four seconds. Now I want to win both of them at every single meet. I
will reach the end of the rainbow by working hard every single day. I will go to practice and push
myself. I will train outside of practice and before the season starts. I will keep my grades up so I can
go to all the practices and meets. I may have some setbacks on my journey to the end of the rainbow.
When the temperature is cold I do not breathe well. That will make it hard to train before the season
starts. I will get tired of going hard every day at practice. I will just have to remember what is at the
end of the rainbow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sounds like I m the only one this is helping but it s not. If I win both the 100 and 200 meter dash that
is 20 points at the meet. Running those two races will help me in the third events because it is running
also. I might get first in that event. That would be thirty points. Those points will go to the team at the
meets. It will help us win meets. My pot of gold is benefiting my track

The Pros And Cons Of The Declaration Of Independence
What were Thomas Jeffereson s, Alexander Hamilton s, John Jay s, and James Madison s reasons
behind the most historical documents? Durning the time period of the Founding Father s the American
colonies were barely starting to form a government and it had its flaws and they still had to deal with
gaining their independence from Great Britain. In the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jeffereson
writes it to give reasons to why the American colonies are going to seperate from Great Britain.
Hamilton, Jay, and Madison write the Federalists Papers to try and convince the people of the
American colonies to ratify the new constitution. In the Declaration of Independence Jefferson gives
logical reasoning and also emtional reasoning through the type of words he uses and in the Federalists
Papers they use logical reasoning and their creditbilty to convince the people. When Thomas Jefferson
wirtes the Declaration of Independence he wirtes it to explain why the American colonies will be
seperating from Great Britian. He does that by using logos. For taking away our Charters, abolishing
our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments: . This passage
explains some of the reasons why they seperate from Great Britain, Jefferson uses actual facts so that
Great Britain can t deny it. Through out the entire declaration he uses logos to back up why the
American colonies leave. He doesn t want people to think they are leaving just for no reason.

Emission Standards of the Diesel Engine
Diesel engines began to be used in automobiles in the 1930s. They are used in many trucks, ships,
buses and small passenger cars in Europe right now.[1] Many believe that diesel engine are heavier,
noisier and generate black smock when running. However, diesel engine s unique advantages can
make them the engine of the future for vehicles. And with much more stringent standard to take effect
in the future, diesel engine s emissions and control technologies are still very much in the forefront.
This paper will cover the developments in diesel vehicles emission regulation and control technology
for NOx, particulate matter (PM) for diesel vehicles.
Regulation
Right now there are two kinds of emission standard in US. One of them is federal standards
established by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and another is California standards.
Since the State of California are facing more severe air pollutant problem than most of other state,
they choose to adopt its own emission regulations. The California Air Resources Board (ARB)
establish engine and vehicle emission regulations that are often more stringent than the federal rules.
Other states can make their own decision to either implement the federal emission standards or to use
California requirements.
After the Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA) on 1990, two sets of standards have been defined for
light duty vehicles. Tier I standard was published in 1991 and was phased in between 1994 and 1997.
Tier II standard was

America s Acceptance Of Interracial Marriages
Are you tired of hearing, you should love, date, and marry within your own kind? I mean c mon
people. It s been decades even centuries and it seems like society s acceptance of interracial marriages
is still very much frown upon. Since my arrival here in the United States, in the early 80s till even
now, I have been told, by my parents, aunts, uncles, and relatives, to stay away from other ethnic
groups because they don t understand our people, our language, our tradition, and our way of life. I
would argue that we no longer live in Laos and we need to limit ourselves to old traditions or
superstitions. That there are some many benefits, in America, to marrying someone of another race
and culture. Some of the main benefits would be to break the racial barriers of discrimination, lessen
hate crimes, and create a safer environment for our children, whether of mixed cultures or not.
Firstly, it has been throughout history that interracial marriages are unacceptable or even illegal for
two people of a different race to marry. A tradition that has been around for centuries until in 1958 the
case of, Loving v. Virginia, two Virginia natives Richard Loving, a white man and Mildred Jeter, a
black woman got married in the District of Columbia and returned home soon after the wedding,
Virginia declared that they violated the state s anti miscegenation statute and was sentenced to a year
in jail or leave the state and not return for 25 years (Loving). On June 12, 1967, the United

Mrs Bennet Analysis Essay
In Jane Austen s novel Pride and Prejudice, Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed as a selfish woman
who cares only about herself. In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen uses contrasts between themes,
narrative devices, as well as characters to describe how Mrs. Bennet is a selfish woman who only
cares about herself. The novel demonstrates how Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed as a selfish
woman who cares only about herself by demonstrating her distorted view on marriage, her selfish
attitudes, as well as her inappropriate behaviours. Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed to be a selfish
woman who cares only about herself through the contrast between the themes of marrying for love
versus marrying for money. Pride and Prejudice represents the distorted view on marriage of a middle
class woman in the early nineteenth century by defining exactly what marrying well should and did
mean to Mrs. Bennet at that moment in history. One of the most important themes explored in the
novel is the concept of marrying well . Mrs. Bennet is portrayed as a selfish was due to the fact that
she is an anxious woman with limited knowledge, and her primary objective in life is to make sure
that her daughters marry well . In the novel, Jane Austen describes Mrs. Bennet as
a woman of mean understanding, little information, and uncertain temper. When she was discontented,
she fancied herself nervous. The business of her life was to get her daughters married; its solace was
visiting and

  • 2. Similarities Between George Orwell And Animal Farm Animal Farm is a novel written by English writer George Orwell (1903 1950). The book is about animals rising and taking over a farm after years of being abused by the human owners. However, the book has many parallels The Russian Revolution, such as the Animals need to take over the farm and exile Mr Jones, how Snowball is exiled from animal farm and how Napoleon becomes just like the very thing the animals sought to exile from their farm. The overtaking of Manor Farm represents many events that took place during The Russian Revolution. Firstly, Old Majors speech about how life is miserable and how all animals are equal draws many parallels with Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto, a book about the basics of communism. Karl Marx, just like old Major was considered the Father of Communism, just like how Old Major was Considered the Father of Animalism. Furthermore, Mr Jones, the owner of the farm, is very similar the current ruler at the time, Tsar Nicholas II. Mr Jones, just like Nicholas II, was very unpopular amongst his people. He did not really want to rule and did not care for the people whom he led. Eventually, both leaders were exiled by the people. Overall, through the many similarities between the rulers of pre rebellion Russia and Manor Farm, and the parallels between Karl Marx and Old Major, it is difficult to miss the similarities between Animal Farm and Stalinist Russia. The two battles that take place during Animal Farm represent The Russian Civil War and World ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Examples Of Modernism In Grendel One literary period that I observed throughout chapter 9 of Grendel is Modernism. Modernism happened between the Victoria Era and Postmodernism where the authors look at chaos to find meaning, but denies intelligent rationalization and spiritual principles. In Grendel, it shifted a transition where people have no certainty about the chaos. Instead, they try to search for meaning in order to find the reality. One example of Gardner s use of modernism is when Hrothulf claimed: In the old days, they used to kill virgins. Religion is sick (Gardner, p.128). Grendel responded, It is true; there is no conviction in the old priests songs; there is only showmanship. No one in the kingdom is convinced that the gods have life in them. The weak observe ... Despite the fate of man to die, the narrator depended on his faith that God will rescue him from the natural world; he envision the natural world will soon fade. With these two references, it embodies a worldview that life here on Earth is never guaranteed. In modernism, people today search the question about what happens after death, what is the meaning of life, and why I exist. These questions develop the minds of people to rationalize the facts and to experience the true reality themselves. In essence, they are looking for the real reality, only to find a purpose to live here on Earth. Even though Ork s priests didn t believe him that he spoke with Grendel, he fully knows the truth about Grendel that most of the Danes don t know. As a result, they are left in the cave, wondering and pondering about life without having the audacity to look at life. Instead, their mere existence is futile on Earth. John Gardner implemented modernism to show that people s worldviews are influenced, only to search for the true meaning of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some people walk into your life and change it for the better. That is what Sara Pahlevan did to me. Her kind, charismatic, and understanding personality makes the whole world smile with her. Sara s influence on me has given me new insight about the world around us. My first encounter with Sara was not unusual. Since that was the case, everyone had to stand up, say their name, and tell a fun ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Not The Same Song I ve Always Sung Once again, I found myself weaving in boredom, singing the same song I ve always sung, with only useless, brainless wolves and mountain lions lying motionless around me. What a boring life this was, spending my days weaving or practicing magic, never to be visited, always ignored secluded, empty, without purpose. It had been at least a few centuries since anyone dared to tread the ground of Aeaea, as this land had become infamous off of the people lost to the witch Circe, which spread infectiously throughout the people, long ago averting their ships far away from here. As I already knew, the day would go by without a sound, then a night, then a day, then another night, then another day. Some immortals had jobs to fulfill, commands to ... Hello, Circe, the voices yelled, we ask of you to let us take shelter in your hall! Bewildered by the sound of them, not having heard voice speak to me in what felt to me like an eternity, I swiftly maneuvered to the entranceway; there, I examined twenty three mortals, one of which stood further back than the others and refused to join them. Rejuvenated, I let them in, hurriedly preparing a customary feast, with mighty thrones to sit upon, fine cheese, barely, amber honey, and Pramnian wine. However, before bringing the meal out, I turned toward the table to see the mortals talking and laughing with each other, sharing their thoughts and spending time with each other. Stealthily, I grabbed a potion and mixed it into the meal, in hopes that it would make them forget their homeland. I didn t want them to leave. I didn t want to be alone again. I didn t want to give up this perfect opportunity to better my existence, whether or not they were only mortals. Thus, bringing the mixture out to the table, I set it down next to them and waited. Seemingly pouncing on the sight of food, they immediately began to eat, devouring every last morsel of it. All the while, I stood and waited for someone to perhaps talk to me, ask me to do something, give ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Case Study Of Dollar General DOLLAR GENERAL Dollar General has become the go to place when in need of small items and groceries without having to enter a supermarket. Dollar General, like most other companies send their stores inventory each week to replenish supply. But unlike some of those other companies after working for Dollar General I realized that the way they handled stock supply and inventory shipment wasn t very efficient compared to some of those other companies using inventory technologies. PROBELEM I feel as if that Dollar General has the right idea by keeping their stores well stocked with supplies but if customers can t even get around to shop the items due to those items blocking aisle then the purpose of the entire supply is pointless. After doing some research I discovered what I think is actually occurring at Dollar General stores when it comes to shipment of inventory. The line chart below provided by ScienceDirect (Quansheng, 2015), shows how inventory replenishment effectiveness rates impact retailer s cost. I think that Dollar General is experiencing a destroyed rate, as shown on the chart as the top line. Which is leading them to suffer a large impact on their internal costs. • 7. Victoria Geography The landscape of Victoria is key to surviving down there. Located in the Western Cordillera, the mountainous area has long narrow inlets called fjords that separate this area. The Coastal Mountains, although rugged and glaciated at times, have many different large forests along the mountain that consist of cedar and oak trees that can work as protection from predators or animals lurking around. In addition, the rolling landscapes/lowlands contain granite rocks that create a beautiful scenery and make it easier to walk along when the road becomes in available to drive on. Victoria has the warmest and richest weather in Canada! When hiding out in Victoria, be sure to expect a variety of continental and maritime climate because the climate/precipitation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the climate and the vegetation will work hand in hand in your survival. Victoria is a place that has a more moderate, dryer climate in the summer and mild, average amount of precipitation. This is important to the vegetation because it s not too cold where you can t grow anything (seeds, flowers, herbs etc.) and it s not too hot in certain areas where your crops will burn out and leave you hungry. Then, the landscape and the climate work together varying from the availability of water to the population of people fleeing there. Victoria has a very beautiful scenery and the climate works with it so that you can feel comfortable when appreciating the view. Although it is one of the major tourist attractions, but not many people spend a lot of their time in the forests on the mountains, therefore giving you an advantage of space and utilities. In addition the climate works so that the water that is near you will not diminish and can access it easily by simply walking down to the fjords. Keep in mind that soil and vegetation also work hand in hand because depending on where you decide to camp, there will be different types of soil that can affect your planting (I.e. Leached soil). If you re looking to plant more seeds and herbs look out for sandy loam, which is an even mixture of all the types of soils and will be easiest to attend to by composting any fruit or nut items you have. Lastly the climate and the soil work well together because although it can be quite dry in Victoria, there is enough precipitation to treat the soil instead of damaging (for example having too much precipitation or not having ... • 9. Is The Internet Making People Stupid The style of the Internet definitely has an impact on how we read and think, but Carr did not mention another contributing factor. It also has to do with the vast amount of information available on the Internet overwhelming readers. People often do not know where to start when they look up a certain topic because there is so much information to sift through. If people do not find the information they are looking for after clicking through one or two links, they often get discouraged and do not bother to try and dig any deeper for the answer they are looking for. A person trying to do serious research could go through pages upon pages of information online and still only scratch the surface of their topic. It is very difficult for a person to create their own ideas and opinions and think critically when they spend an hour sifting through pages that all say the exact same thing. And while this problem can also be seen with books, it is a bit easier to sift through books to find information, you do not have to worry about whether or not the information in the book is valid unlike Internet sources. Some people do not agree with Carr s view that the Internet is making people stupid, and instead believe that we have never been smarter. Donald Morrison, a contemporary author and former editor of TIME Magazine, gives his response to Carr s book The Shallows, Just as we survived the advent of the telephone, radio, and television which experts back then warned would fry our ... • 13. Love Of Adam And Eve Adam and Eve were more than just a story about Gods first creations, they were a love story. Healthy, resilient, and loving relationships are something that all humans crave by nature. Adam and Eve are perfect examples of this type of love. Jeffery Brown explains in his article What we can learn about love from Adam and Eve , the importance of the relationship between the two (2017). One thing that can be learned from the story of Adam and Eve about love is that it is normal not to want to be alone. In the Genesis God said, it is not good for man to be alone , this is when he decided to create Eve to be Adams companion. Being alone or isolated is one of the biggest contributors of unhappiness because humans crave to relate to other people. When two people are joined together in a healthy loving relationship centered around God, they will enjoy happiness together. From Adam and Eve, we also learn that love will be challenging. Although Adam and Eve experienced challenges they did not let that stop them from loving one another. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and were kicked out of the garden, but they continued to love each other. This shows people to be resilient and even in hard times there can still be love. Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United States during World War one. The outbreak of the Great War of 1914, also known as World War I, started with the assassination of Austria Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was shot to death by Gavrilo Princip (Columbia Southern University, (CSU), n.d.). The Prime Minister of Great Britain during the Great War was David George Lloyd (CSU, n.d.). World War1 was the very first modern and trench war, as well as, the last war governed by European traditional Monarchies (CSU, n.d.). Also, World War I created political dislodgments socially and economically that assisted in reshaping the Americans life, even after Armistice Day (Faragher, Buhle, Czitrom, Armitage, 2009). The global effect of World War I involving the U.S. in regards to other countries in the world remained profound (Faragher, B, C, A, 2009). However, during the Great War on the home front, mixed reviews surfaced concerning the war. Several groups feared for their love ones that were miles and miles away fighting in the war (CSU, n.d.). At the same time, the war helped the country develop even more materialistic. The Industrialization began in the United States in 1865 after the Civil War it went developing for the next five decades. The first transactional railroad was completed in 1869 by workers from China that were paid poorly . There was many more inventions throughout the Industrialization from 1869 1914 that helped the Nation developed. The Industrialization was a process that helped the economy transform into something better and individual laborers are replaced by mass production and craftsman by assembly lines, but even though it meant maybe more work to many s. This affected many due to the poorly paid laborers who worked hard and did not get many advantages from that. It helped in ways that the economy grew even more and better that helped society but not those who were poor. The Industrialization did not much helped many of the workers, who appeared most likely to be immigrants, many of them and their families lived in really bad conditions and had horrible working conditions as well with poor pay for the amount of hours worked, that sometimes those mass productions consisted of child labor. Industrialization impacted the lives of many including children who worked instead of going to school to help support their families. Children back in 1908 1912 worked to get money and help support financially their families many of these children did not attend school whatsoever. As shown on document E we observe images of children working in factories, and having jobs that an adult would have, these children would work to help parents with household. This impact was negative because many children worked to help parents instead of having a childhood they thought that they had to help parents out instead of attending school. • 21. Pros And Cons Of Mercantilism Criticism Mercantilism Criticisms Criticisms Adam Smith and David Hume were the founding fathers of anti mercantilist thought. A number of scholars found important flaws with mercantilism long before Adam Smith developed an ideology that could fully replace it. Critics like Hume, Dudley North, and John Locke undermined much of mercantilism, and it steadily lost favor during the 18th century. In 1690, John Locke argued that prices vary in proportion to the quantity of money. Locke s Second Treatise also points towards the heart of the anti mercantilist critique: that the wealth of the world is not fixed, but is created by human labor (represented embryonically by Locke s labor theory of value). Mercantilists failed to understand the notions of absolute advantage and comparative advantage (although this idea was only fully fleshed out in 1817 by David Ricardo) and the benefits of trade. For instance, suppose Portugal was a more efficient producer of wine than England, yet in England cloth could be produced more efficiently than it could in Portugal. Thus if Portugal specialized in wine and England in cloth, both states would end up better off if they traded. This is an example of the reciprocal benefits of trade due to a comparative advantage. In modern economic theory, trade is not a zero sum game of cutthroat competition because both sides can benefit. Hume famously noted the impossibility of the mercantilists goal of a constant positive balance of trade. As bullion flowed into one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Critical Analysis Of Consider The Lobster By David Wallace In his essay Consider the Lobster , David Wallace focuses on a long simmering debate of lobster killing for human pleasure. This article, published in Gourmet magazine in 2004 begins with the author participating at the annual Maine Lobster Festival, where significant controversy surrounding morality and ethical duties are raised. The author chose to attend this venue precisely for these issues and to raise a discussion on a topic discarded by participants and Gourmet s audience. The article centers around human eating experience at the lobster s expense by cooking it alive; leading to lobsters feeling debilitating pain. Whether this is true or not, this is the crux of Wallace s intention. Rather than focus on pain receptivity between vertebrate and invertebrate creatures, Wallace maintains a soft stance by choosing to be influenced by personal belief. By ignoring the complex dynamics of pain receptivity in invertebrate animals, Wallace proposes arguments bringing the issue to attention but balks by making his message appear the topic can be delayed or neglected in pursuit of human pleasure. Consider the Lobster brings readers to attention by raising the topic, that is often deliberately neglected by many of Gourmant s audience during meals associated with lobster cooking. This call to awareness is targeted to culinary aficionados both cooks, customers and researchers, to engage in dialogue, highlighting whether it is suitable to boil a creature alive for culinary ... However, Overall suggests that we have seen many people who did not have any problem in their work, relationship, and life after the surgery. If we assume that someone wants to change his or her identity due to a confusion, this case must be considered with oppression and discrimination that this person has experienced. Thus, it is not correct to say that people who want to change their identity are purely due to the mental sickness or confusion. Unlike Overall, Cressida Heyes argues that transracialism is not reasonable, while transsexualism is. Heyes brings up Overall s statement, claiming if transsexual surgery is morally acceptable... then transracial surgery should be morally acceptable (269). Heyes admits that the argument of Overall is clear both sex and race are socially constructed rather than inherited. Nonetheless, Heyes throws a question if they are constructed in the same way. A lot companies during the 19040s and 50s were able to offer their employees health care benefits, but for some this was not an option. In eighteenth and nineteenth century Europe, also known as the Enlightenment Era, same sex behaviors were typically seen in a negative light. Sometimes even punished due to laws that were in place at the time, sodomy laws. Somewhere in the 1920s people began to assume that homosexuality could be changed through psychology. This movement was so popular at the time that even Freud stated that homosexuality could sometimes be removed through hypnotic suggestion. However, this fact was disproven by United States Surgeon General David Satcher in a report, there is no valid scientific evidence that sexual orientation can be changed. Since this time same sex marriage has become legal and the view on LGBTQ seems to have shifted, at least in a majority. Each culture has its own beliefs and perceptions when it comes to homosexuality. In the United States, those perceptions differ between lesbian or gay, as parents, across cultures, and in education. When those with different perceptions get together, it could be beneficial to see things from the other s point of view, or it could be detrimental and cause some sort of fight. However, the biggest detriment could be with the person who is a homosexual, negative effects on health and well being of this individual. In my essay I will try to discuss J, P, and E authors of Genesis, Exodus and Numbers. I must admit that all these authors had lived after the division of the kingdom. AUTHOR J This author was identified as J for using word Yahweh or Jehovah for the name of God. Also there is an interesting theory that author J was a woman. Of course, there are statements that prove it. And one more interesting thing is that although Judah was only the fourth son, in Gen.49:8 Israel says that his brothers will praise and bow down to him. So in such a way he gets a birthright. Also Jerusalem and Ark of the Covenant (a sign to the people that God is with them) are very important for J (2 Samuel 5,6). I want to emphasize that political and religious systems were very close in that time: J never mentioned Joshua in her passages because he is from Ephraim (Jeroboam is from Ephraim) and in Num.25:1 5 J writes that men from Israel began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women and God said Moses to kill them. This is political decision because Moabites were enemies of Israel. Also J author has several trademarks . First of all, God in her passages is always anthropomorphic, it means that all action He is doing by His hands. This is shown in creation story: Gen.2:7 LORD God formed the man , in Gen.2:21 He took one of the man s ribs and in Gen.3:8 He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day . In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen uses contrasts between themes, narrative devices, as well as characters to describe how Mrs. Bennet is a selfish woman who only cares about herself. The novel demonstrates how Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed as a selfish woman who cares only about herself by demonstrating her distorted view on marriage, her selfish attitudes, as well as her inappropriate behaviours. Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed to be a selfish woman who cares only about herself through the contrast between the themes of marrying for love versus marrying for money. Pride and Prejudice represents the distorted view on marriage of a middle class woman in the early nineteenth century by defining exactly what marrying well should and did mean to Mrs. Bennet at that moment in history. One of the most important themes explored in the novel is the concept of marrying well .
