Class Struggle
Introduction Class struggle is the active expression of a theoretical class conflict looked at from any
kind of socialist perspective. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, leading ideologists of communism,
wrote The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle . Marx s notion of class
has nothing to do with social class in the sociological sense of upper, middle and lower classes (which
are often defined in terms of quantitative income or wealth). Instead, in an age of capitalism, Marx
describes an economic class. Membership in a class is defined by one s relationship to the means of
production, i.e., one s position in the social structure that characterizes capitalism. Marx talks mainly
about two classes that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
the floods! This dimension of Bangladesh s reality is much more presentable and in tune with what the
viewer wants to see. In addition, floods or monsoons are a lot easier to explain away as inevitable than
are riots or strikes. For the bourgeoisie, what would be the point in shaking the dominant image of a
country made of too much water and too many poor people ? However, it is not possible to completely
black out the existence of class struggle and some information gets through. The following is a resume
of news clips from various newspapers in December 1994: On December 4th 1994 thousands of
poorly paid and poorly equipped police officers, auxiliary militiamen (Ansars) mutinied, taking over
two barracks, 22 officers hostage and managing to take control of the headquarters and training centre
in the capital, Dacca. After 4 days, by which time the mutiny had spread to other provinces, repression
began in earnest. The army s special forces attacked the occupies barracks, using very significant
measures: artillery guns, rockets, helicopters, gas, armored cars... with an official toll of 4 deaths and
50 wounded. The first ideological image is therefore shattered: there are more than just disarmed,
ragged, soaking wet beggars in Bangladesh! A different technique is now needed to explain events
and, this time, the media choose to fall back on the traditional explanation of struggle between official
and opposition parties. Indeed, the mutiny in December 1994 in

Essay On School Vacation
It was the last day of school before summer vacation. Taylor, Kennedy, and Avery were freshman s at
Eastwood High. They were all so excited for Ashley Brown s end of school year party later that night.
Ashley was the most popular person in school and the girls felt so honored to go. Little did they know,
that night would change their lives forever. As soon as school ended, Taylor, Kennedy, and Avery
rushed home to get ready for Ashley s party.
Who is that? Taylor said as she turned and saw a person wearing a black sweatshirt and black jeans
running toward them as they were on their way home.
When Kennedy turned around the person slowed down and started to walk.
It s nobody, Kennedy said, Would you stop worrying so much?
When Kennedy turned back around the person started running again. The person caught up to them
and started asking them questions. The man asked for Avery s phone number because he claimed to be
the person from their school to send out the news.
That was weird, said Taylor, School is out and I wonder why he still wanted your phone number. Oh
well he has it it now, calm down it s just a phone number, Avery said. Avery was pretty much like any
other teenage teenage girl, but she had a very distinct personality that separated her from everyone
else. She was fairly tall and had the bluest eyes that you would ever see. Whenever Avery walked into
the room there would be smiles on everyone s faces. Things at home were not like that, her

Continental Airlines Essay
1. Continental Airlines, like other companies in the airline industry, is a volatile organization.
However, Continental has many strengths that have allowed it to prevail through tough times and
avoid complete ruin. The CEO of Continental Airlines played an important role in reviving the
company. His Go Forward Plan vocalized the strategy of the company and focused on every aspect of
the organization. Continental has a well defined target market, providing services to upper class and
business travelers. The company has also been able to operate in the face of adversity (such as 9/11)
due to effective decision making.
2. The weaknesses that have plagued Continental Airlines include low morale which prohibited
workers from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The airline industry has also experienced a shift in consumer preferences to low cost, point to point
flights.
4. Although the industry is making a comeback, there are several threats to airlines that could affect
their long term success. Even though it is one of the opportunities in the market, changing customer
preferences are also a threat to some upper class airlines. Consumers are demanding fewer frills, less
costs, and fewer connecting flights. Financing is becoming more difficult to achieve in the industry
due to the fact that so many companies are failing to turn profits and are filing for bankruptcy. Those
organizations that have survived the recent down turn in the industry are gaining the ability to acquire
other companies through mergers and acquisitions. The industry is also threatened by increased
technology, such as video conferencing, that has decreased the demand for business travelers.
5. The critical issue for Continental Airlines is to remain competitive in a struggling environment in
spite of discount airlines.
6. One alternative for Continental is to continue operating as they have done in the past. This would
enable Continental to continue to use their current business plan and strategy. Their employees and
customers are now accepting of the strategy and policy that took so long to instill in the organizations.

Susan B Anthony Speech Summary
MATILDA JOSLYN GAGE: forgotten feminist
Introduced by Susan B. Anthony at the International Council of Women in 1888, Matilda Josyln Gage
began her speech with a brief sketch of her early entry into the suffrage movement: I have frequently
been asked what first turned by thoughts towards woman s rights. I think I was born with a hatred of
oppression, and, too, in my father s house, I was trained in the anti slavery ranks, for it was one of the
stations on the underground railway, and a home of anti slavery speakers. Well I remember the wonder
with which, when a young girl, I looked upon Abby Kelly, when she spoke of the wrongs of black
women and black men. Then I remember, before the Round House in my city of Syracuse was
finished, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I was entirely ignorant of all parliamentary rule, or what was necessary to be done. I prepared my
speech, and going to the convention, sat near the front, and with a palpitating heart waited until I
obtained courage to go upon the platform, probably to the interference of arrangements, for I knew
nothing about the proper course for me to take. But I was so sweetly welcomed by the sainted Lucretia
Mott, who gave me a place, and, when I had finished speaking, referred so pleasantly to what I had
said, and to her my heart turned always with truest affection.
Soon after the close of the convention, almost immediately afterwards, it was criticized from the pulpit
by the Rev. Mr. Ashley, of the Episcopal Church, and Rev. Mr. Sunderland, now of this city, but then
established at Syracuse. With the latter gentleman I carried on a long newspaper controversy. As Miss
Grew has truly said, it is not religion that has opposed woman suffrage, because true religion believes
in undoing the heavy burdens and letting the oppressed go free. But from the church and from
theology this reform has met opposition at every step.
It was Gage s outspoken opposition to the bigotry of Christian theology that would eventually cost her
dearly. The price of liberty to Matilda Joslyn Gage

On Racism Essay
On Racism
Racism can be described as a belief in the superiority of a particular race; hostility or discrimination
against members of a different race.
The Bible
Genesis 1:26 27, 2:19 20
Then God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the
fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every
creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, and male and female he
created them.
So from the soil God fashioned all the wild beasts and birds of heaven. These he brought to man to see

Jesus preached against racism and there are many other examples of this like in Genesis.
Baptist:
The kingdom of God knows no prejudice and no discrimination. In fact, it might be better to say that it
discriminates on favour of the poor, the weak and the marginalised. The Church therefore has the
responsibility to listen to these groups, to work with them and to support their attempts to improve
their own conditions.
The Baptist statement mirrors one of Jesus own teachings, the Beatitudes, one of which says: Happy
are those who are persecuted in the cause of right; theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Or Happy are you
when people abuse you and persecute you because of me and speak all kinds of calumny against you
on my account. The Baptist church says that they have a responsibility to help the poor and
persecuted. This is also like the Good Samaritan, or helping those less fortunate no matter what the
colour or creed.
Methodists
Whatever our skin colour or background, we are one in our common humanity and one in Christ. All
are equal before God. Adverse discrimination on the basis of or cultural characteristics contradicts our
common humanity and the Gospel. To judge anyone adversely solely on account of his or her
membership of a class or a racial group is to violate his or her status

Pros And Cons Of Standardized Testing
My personal interest in this controversial topic
Since Middle School, I was not opposed to standardized testing. I thought of it as a way of testing us
of what we have learned. Although, after reading some articles about standardized testing I am re
thinking the pros and cons. From personal experience, I thought of it as a challenge to pass them. But
now that reminisce about it, I noticed some of the cons of standardized testing. I remember having a
week or two dedicated for testing, and in case of students failing they had to take time to redo it. It
would take a while for all the students to finish their tests. And after remembering how it was back in
those times I was more on the opposed side.
The act signed in 2002, NCLB, caused for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents oppose the standardized tests because they can cause stress and anxiety to their children.
Students disagree with many tests because it can cost them admission to a university, or passing to the
next grade. Teachers oppose the tests because it takes too much time. They have to teach their students
what is going to be on the test. Also, the schools and teachers lose funding depending on the results.
What warrants (assumptions) will you imply or state? Why?
First, I will state that standardized testing is not helping education in the United States. This will be
stated first because it will clarify my topic.
Secondly, I will imply that there are other ways education in the United States could improve without
the use of standardized testing.
Can you maintain an open mind and reverse your views if you come across information you hadn t
anticipated?
If I find, research about why standardized testing has helped improve the education in the United
States; and, if there is information on how it has helped students progress over time. I would be open
to information that could counter my claims.
What qualifiers will you include in your claim to make it more reasonable and manageable?
One qualifier I will use is standardized testing improving the US education? This will qualify the US
education. Also using qualifiers like there are many students that are opposed to standardized testing. I
will also be using some teachers and parents also oppose

Compare And Contrast Madison And The Federalists
Through 1789 to 1816, the United States faced a difficult time becoming a stable nation. England and
France caused distinct problems for the U.S and the four presidential administrations who tried their
best to solve those problems. However, the two presidents Jefferson and Madison were members of the
republican party, they had principles and philosophies of their own that were very different than the
views of the federalist. Even though both the Federalist and the Democratic republican approached the
situations in a well respected manner, the Federalist were more wise with their decisions causing both

The Federalist Party emerged in opposition to the Democratic Republican party in America during
President George Washington s first administration. . France had declared a war on the European
nations and the controversy over American involvement in the dispute magnified. In 1793, Britain
decided to seize any ships that were trading with the French, including those who were involved with
America. The Federalist party suggested that a national bank, tariffs and good relations with Britain
were key to a successful nation. Jay s Treaty in 1794 was a treaty between the United States and Great
Britain to resolve issues that remained after the Treaty of Paris in 1783. Washington strongly
supported the idea of Jay s Treaty. The treaty had gained the primary American goals that included the
withdrawal of the British Army units. The Americans were granted limited rights to trade with British
possessions in exchange for some limited on the American export of cotton. Cotton was a big market
in trading, it was used to make cotton clothing. The Federalist party was one of the first two political
parties in the United States, it was the most successful party out of the two. John Adams was
Washington s vice president and he succeeded the first president to be declared a Federalist. The

Innate Essay
Innate or learned behavioural responses can be observed in a neural representation of the sensory
world. Naïve animals, which are without prior learning or experience, show an innate response to a
sensory stimulus suggesting that they are mediated by genetically determined neural circuits. Most
sensory stimuli, however, show an experience dependent response, allowing an organism to respond
appropriately in a variable and uncertain world. Thus, behav ioural relevance to sensory cues is mostly
acquired through learning. In Drosophila melanogaster, different forms of learning have been
observed in response to a number of sensory stimuli. The mushroom body (MB), in insects, is
responsible for memory formation and retrieval.

Most antennal lobe projection neurons (PNs) extend their dendrites to a single glo¬merulus while their
axons bifurcate to innervate the lateral horn and the MB of the brain. The lateral horn is thought to
mediate innate behaviours, whereas the MB translates olfactory sensory information into learned
behavioural responses. On the activation from an odorant, PN axons synapse onto the den¬drites of
the Kenyon cells (KCs) in the MB calyx. According to anatomical and physiological studies, each KC
is said to receive, on an average, 6.4 inputs from a random combination of glo¬meruli which indicates
that knowledge of a single input to the KC cannot provide information about all the additional inputs
and these connections differ in different flies.
The γ, α′/β′, and α/β lobes of the MB are formed from three classes of KCs that extend their parallel
fibers to these lobes and form synapses with a relatively small number of MB output neurons
(MBONs). The MBONs extend their dendrites into the MB lobes, while their axons are projected to
the neuropils which lie outside the MB. Modulatory input neurons which include the dopaminergic
neurons (DANs) and octo¬paminergic neurons, also innervate the MB lobes. The MBONs and DANs
extend their processes to locations such that they define spatially restricted subdomains in each lobe.
DANs are modulatory neurons of the MB that are most prevalent.

Analysis Of Brene Brown The Power Of Vulnerability
Brene Brown, a researcher in social interactions, takes an unexpected perspective in her ted talk called
The Power of Vulnerability . She starts out her speech by telling a joke and explaining her education
and experience in social work. A quote her professor put on the board led her to research the
connection among people. However, this led to many other things such as shame, fear, and the most
prominent factor, vulnerability. She realized that for connection to occur we must be seen completely
for who we are. This led to 6 years of research, including hundreds of stories and thousands of pieces
of data. Brown wrote a book about her findings but she felt that something was still missing. It turned
out the missing component was worthiness. To delve deeper into worthiness, she did a study on people
who think they are worthy and people who don t. People who thought they were worthy had these four
things in common, courage, compassion, connection, and vulnerability. Brown realized at this point
that she needed to understand vulnerability thoroughly by facing it herself. A therapist helped brown
face vulnerability head on for a year straight, and in the end, she potentially won her life back. Brown
stated ...vulnerability is the core of shame, of fear and of worthiness, but it is also the birthplace of joy,
of creativity, of belonging, of love... After facing her fear, she knew that vulnerability was the core of
not only fear, but also happiness. Brown goes on to say that we

Manipulative Techniques In Tartuffe
Throughout Moliere s Tartuffe both Cleante and Dorine attempt to expose Tartuffes hypocrisy,
confront Marianne of her frailty and expose the folly of Orgon. They use different strategies to
complete this task, and in the end, the tasks are accomplished. Cleante uses a reason based style, while
Dorine used a manipulative method to accomplish her goals. Although both seem to affect this goal, in
the end, Cleante s strategy seems to prevail.
Dorine is the lady s maid to Marianne and she primarily attempts to confront the frailty of Marianne.
Moliere reveals that Dorine s character is one that primarily relies on passive aggressive actions. This
is seen through her conversations throughout the play, particularly in Act 2 Scene 3. She also is

Qualitative And Quantitative
Introduction
This chapter aims in pertaining to the ways of producing and analysing data so that theories can be
tested, accepted and rejected. Since, this study is based on Form V repeaters disposition to study
mathematics in the Mauritian schools, the only way to assure the latest update associated with validity
and reliability of the data is to conduct a research. In order to have a deep understanding of the second
year students, a mixture of different method will be used which include both the qualitative and
quantitative methods.
Qualitative and quantitative research
In a nutshell, there are two main broad approaches used in the investigation of phenomenon which
include; the qualitative and the quantitative approach. One of the main objectives of qualitative
research is to provide a specific and detailed description of the research topic as it is more explanatory
in nature. The qualitative research mainly deals with verbal data rather than measurements and the
employed are mostly observation and interviews. It also has a subjective approach as it seeks to
identify human behaviour and the reasons that direct such behaviour. However, since the researcher is
heavily involved in the process, he or she tends to interpret the data obtained according to their own
biased views which skews the data gathered. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

quantitative research is mainly objective in its approach in the sense that it only seeks precise
measurements. It has to be noted the structure of the quantitative research design has remained static
for centuries. Therefore it has kept its standardise format across many scientific fields and disciplines.
The main strength of making use of this approach is that, it is an excellent way of finalising results

Identity and Culture Essay
Every person, or group of people, has an identity and a culture. An identity is the image that one
project out into the rest of the world, and culture is the image which one has of themselves. Countries
are no exception; every country over their course of history has created an identity and culture for
themselves. It has been said that the worst act one could perform on another would be to strip them of
their identity, and deny them of their culture. This is why, in order for a country to become a great
nation, their culture and identity must be formed so that it is able to strive. History and the changes

Essay about The Lovely Bones Movie vs Book
Peter Jackson s 2009 film, The Lovely Bones, is based off of the New York Times bestseller novel
written by Alice Sebold. Both the book and the movie adaptation tell the story of a young, 14 year old
girl named Susie Salmon who is brutally murdered by her neighbor. In both versions, Susie narrates
her story from the place between Heaven and Earth, the in between, showing the lives of her family
and friends and how each of their lives have changed since her murder. However, the film adaptation
and the original novel differ in the sense of the main character focalization throughout, the graphic
explanatory to visual extent, and the relationship between the mother and father. Throughout Jackson s
film adaptation, the primary character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel, the murder and rape of Susie Salmon is intensively described, ...cut into pieces... blood
soaked into the soft, wet earth... leaving no question in the reader s mind as to what was happening or
might have happened (Novel, Chapters 2 3). While in the movie version of the book, the murder and
rape scene is not showed at all, only having to be assumed by showing Mr. Harvey, the murderer,
bathing with his entire bathroom covered in blood. Also, the movie doesn t mention rape at all, only
that Susie was murdered, while the book is specific in saying that she was first raped, and then
murdered (Movie). Towards the end of the movie, Susie enters the body of Ruth Connors, Ray s best
girl friend and a medium to the spirit world, while her and Ray are visiting the sink hole in their
neighborhood, and kisses Ray (Movie). In the novel, Susie actually has sex with Ray when she enters
the body of Ruth, with all details being explained explicitly. The relationship between Susie s mother
and father throughout the film adaptation of the novel was complicated, but not as complicated as the
actual novel. In the novel, after Susie s death, the fighting between the mother, Abigail, and the father,
Jack, becomes excessive and repetitive eventually leading to Abigail having an affair with the
detective of her daughter s murder case. She eventually leaves her home and family and moves to
work in a Californian winery

The Iranian Islamic Revolution Ended And The Us
On April 1, 1979 the Iranian Islamic Revolution ended and the US, under the administration of
President Jimmy Carter, begin to reach out to the new effective government in as effort to establish a
new relationship with Iran and as an offer of good will President Carter continued to provide military
support in the hopes that Khomeini and Islamic Iran would reduce their feeling against America. The

impact of the historical impact the US an UK have had intervening in Iran s internal affairs. After
fleeing Iran, the former Shah traveled extensively looking for political refuge and medical treatment
for the cancer that had progressed severely. While in Mexico, unable to seek treatment by his
physicians in France, due to the unwelcoming stance of their government, the Shah insisted that he be

in suspension, but even after the diplomatic mission in Tehran warned Carter several times not to
allow the Shah entry in to the US, the president hesitantly decide to allow the Shah to be treated in the

Elegy For My Father Poem Analysis
Diaspora is a loaded expression that evokes diverse challenging thoughts and images. This term may
also be regarded as a synonym of dislocation, multiplicity, cultural conflicts, and marginalized
subjects who reside on the periphery of two different lands. Sudesh Mishra delineates this notion as
dual territoriality since the subject has to contend with conflicts which are produced as a result of a
life between hostland and homeland . According to Mishra, suspended between two such terrains
(living without belonging in one, belonging without living in the other), diasporas are seen to
represent a new species of social formation (16). Further in his book, Mishra confers the dichotomous
notion of the subject being split between two worlds, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Alexander is beckoned by the priests to cover her dead father s eyes. This moment makes her think
about the futility of life, If this is the end of life,/ . . . .what use are gnanam, /dhanam, kavya? (15). She
reminisces certain poignant moments spent with her father. Being a loudmouthed teenager , Alexander

Meena Alexander feels bewildered and dislocated in her postcolonial world of experience, she finds
great solace in the lucid and frank centrality of her father s vision of life ( Krishnakumari 126). Her

Abstract Edward Snowden, commonly known as the whistle blower is the most discussed topic in the

When you join the military, work for the government, or government contractors, you give up some of
your rights and freedoms. If you are entrusted with security clearances and access to classified
materials, you give up even more rights and freedoms. These rights and freedoms are not taken from
you. You voluntarily give them up. If you violate the trust put into you, you deserve any and all
punishment that comes your way, no matter how noble your ego makes you think the cause is. (Bella,
2013). Author here states Snowden could have walked away from his job or the government if he did
not like what he did for them. Company paid him well above $200K a year and put in a great amount
of trust in him. Author sees it as if someone puts a trust or discloses classified information then the
person voluntarily gives up his or her right of freedom of speech. Being smart in a field and using the
knowledge to help country get stronger is a good thing, but being childish and disclose classified
information to public is a big deal for the author. On Thursday, President Obama declared before the
world that he would not permit any diplomatic wheeling and dealing over my case. (Roberts, 2013)
Last week Edward Snowden mentioned that if he is tried and brought back to the US then he would
not let any diplomatic rule over his case.

Due to this a sub optimal design including materials to be used was selected by the supplier; which
ultimately caused the project to overrun on costs and schedule because of re work to design and the

On reflection of this decision it is now clear to me that more time should have been spent researching
product availability and assessing alternative suppliers and their capacity to support such a project. In
future to ensure all alternatives have been thoroughly investigated more time should be assigned for
the planning stage where all possible alternatives could be identified; following this, the procedure
Janis and Mann (1977) define as vigilant analysis could be used to ensure a thorough consideration of
each alternative is achieved. This procedure uses a balance sheet approach to ensure a systematic

How Principals Should Apply Instructional Leadership...
In a well researched and scholarly book, Doctors Joesph and Jo Blase accomplish two tasks: outlining
how principals should apply instructional leadership skills while performing their jobs, and describing
how principals should maintain positive relationships with their teachers while still effectively
leading. As well published, credentialed authors in the field of educational leadership, the both of the
Blases serve as credible sources on the topic. To accomplish their desired tasks, the authors divide the
book into brief chapters that each explain either an attribute of instructional leadership or a method for
maintaining positive principal teacher relations. According to the authors themselves, the book s
shows what successful instructional leaders do to enhance teaching and learning and the effects that
their behaviors have on teachers performance and well being (xiii). Through the authors careful
organization of research, use of primary sources, and use of secondary sources, the book accomplishes
this goal.
To organize their research, the Blases first divide their information into the broad categories of Part I:
The Art and Science of Instructional Leadership and Part II: How Supervisor s Behaviors Positive and
Negative Affect Teachers. By first dividing their information into these two broad categories, the
authors effectively organize their research. While the concept of carrying out instructional leadership,
as described in Part I, and how leaders should

Driving Age Argument
The question inquired is whether raising the driving age to 18 or imposing a graduated driver s license
(GDL) would lower the accident raise for teens. The advocates for both say that the restrictions would
lower allow teens to get behind the wheel when they are ready. Although neither would work well, one
must be chosen.
The reasons advocates of a higher driving age give for its existence is that 16 year olds aren t ready for
driving yet. The writer, Rep. John D Amico of the Illinois state legislature, gives of the example of an
accident where two teens died in an accident. What he does not give is more examples to prove that
this wasn t an isolated incident. Another reason that advocates provide for the higher driving age is

The writer of the passage, Alex Koroknay Palicz, says If your neighbor robs a bank, should you go to
jail? If your classmate gets in an accident, should your license be taken away? Opponents also show
that research says that experience, not age, is what causes teens to statistically worse at driving than
adults. They compare the argument of advocates to saying that men shouldn t be able to drive because
they are statistically more likely to be in accidents than women. They also bring up that teens have to
deal with the same things as adults. The need to be able to get to a job. Without a car, they cannot.
The proposed alternative to raising the driving age is a GDL. A GDL, or a graduated driver s license,
gives teens more freedoms depending on how much they have driven. Advocates say that it gives
teens the time they need to practice before having complete freedom. The opponents say it limits the
time they have to practice due to restrictions on when teens can drive. Another reason opponents give
for not having a GDL is that it makes it harder for teens to get jobs because they have limited hours
when they can drive. The argument for for and against are similar to the arguments for a higher

A Story of a Madman or a Paranoid Murderer
A Story of a Madman or a Paranoid Murderer? Often referred to as the architect of the modern short
story, Edgar Allen Poe paints a vivid picture of a seemingly insane man murdering his elderly
roommate in the short story, The Tell Tale Heart ( Biography ). It is a great example of Poe s style,
with the major themes being insanity, paranoia, and murder. The Tell Tale Heart is a short story written
with the intent of focusing on the psyche of the main character. Since it is told from a first person
point of view, the audience is able to see what the protagonist is thinking and how his plan of this
murder develops ( Biography ). This story might just seem like a tale of insanity, guilt, and murder,
but upon further examination, it is a tale of moral deficiency, superhuman ability, paranoia, and ironic
dissemblance.
In The Tell Tale Heart , Poe s use of the unreliable narrator is very well executed, because the lack of
certain details adds to the suspense of this grim story. The reader is able to focus on the raw details of
the murderous plot and the events that follow, in addition by leaving out certain details, it leads to
some interesting questions. Who is the narrator s audience that he is confessing the details of his crime
to? What is the disease that he speaks of in the beginning? Is guilt the main reason for his confession
at the end of the story? Perhaps the most obvious question raised after reading The Tell Tale Heart, is
whether the main character actually

Farewell To Manzanar, And The Bracelet By Yoshika Uchida
Japanese Americans were sent to internment camps after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. This is when
Americans focused their fears of Japanese Americans turning against them. Perspective is significant
to this particular event due to how it reveals the characters attitudes throughout his or her experience.
The accounts that coincide with each other, although differ in perspectives are, Farewell to Manzanar,
and, The Bracelet . Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir written by Jeanne Wakatsuki who discusses
how her and her family had hardships during the time of the Japanese American War. The Bracelet is a
short story by Yoshika Uchida. The author wrote about a Japanese adolescent, Ruri, who learns a life
lesson while going through traumatic times. Based on a comparison of multiple events, Jeanne and
Ruri have undergone the same experiences. However, those events defined how their and other
individuals attitudes contrast. Likewise to Ruri, Jeanne was forced into an internment camp because
Americans feared them turning against the United States. Jeanne and Ruri s attitude towards the event
were alike due to how they were called enemy aliens. Ruri believes that her father was loyal to the
United States, so it was funny to her how he was being taken away and considered an enemy alien.

My Character, My Voice, And The Plot

seventh and eighth grade classes had the honor of trying it out, and I was one of the students that got
to. I have strengths and weaknesses in my novel that determine the characters, my voice, and the plot.
To begin, I would rate my characters in my novel an emerging. One reason, is because my major, and
minor, characters are well explained. My main character Dylan, also known as my protagonist, is
practically explained in every single sentence, except for the beginning of course. The beginning
explains how each of the main supporting characters act, along with the protagonist. I believe that I

The friend I give it to wouldn t even need to know me well enough to determine that the novel is
mine. It seems as if I am leaving my fingerprint in my novel as I write. Most people know that I m all
against sexistism, and I have proof of that in my novel. I also could be known to have an old soul,
meaning that I don t agree with what a lot of people do in this generation, and I d rather have it be like
old times, which is another point that can be found in my novel. I tend to use grade level vocabulary
when I write almost everything, and people could also find evidence of that in my novel.
Finally, I would rate the plot in my novel an emerging because of the not very strong climax. When
people think of a climax, they usually expect something like: the dark object inched closer and closer
to me. I had no clue what the mysterious shadow was, but it gave me a bad feeling. The monster
screeched a little, which almost made me fall off the bed. I blink once, and the creature is two feet
closer. I blink once more, and it is five feet closer. I blink, yet again, and the creature is right up to
face. I can literally smell its rotting breath. Sounds about right, correct? Well my climax, and I quote: I
zip down the entrance, but find myself face to face with a bobcat. Yes, you heard right, a bobcat! I
scream probably the loudest I ever have, and the bobcat growls a bit at me. The big cat even snarls its

weather conditions and lack of proper health care. The men begin to lose hope in living, and neglect
their assigned tasks. Man vs. nature conflict signifies the recurring weather conditions the men battle
through. This conflicting aspect has the most impactful effect on the Zeks because the cold
temperatures and frozen precipitation weaken them, increasingly by the hour. Weather clashes with
them at all times because they are not given proper shelter. The conditions in the bunks are near what
it is like out in the elements, therefore they do not have a place to return for their bodies to recover and
gain heat. Because the men are not able to cope in the freezing weather, their bodies begin to shut
down. The repeated exposure increasingly weakens and kills off many of the Zeks. Therefore, the
most prominent form of conflict is through man vs. nature, which creates the most immense battle
within the novel, forcing the laborers to fight daily for their lives. In addition to man vs. nature,
another form of conflict Solzhenitsyn places throughout the book is man vs. man. Due to the extreme
conditions and savagery that arises from the lack of proper supplies and living quarters, the men

My Job At The Age Of 16
Most employees cannot differentiate between a good and a bad manager until they work with a bad
one. I have worked in multiple jobs in different industries, holding different positions and performing
different functions. I got my first job at the age of 16. A week later, got another job as a part time
employee. This time, I was still in high school. Since then, I have transited through five jobs until I
landed a job with my current employer where I have been working for the past two years. Having met
different managers with different personalities and behaviors, I have an experience of how different
managers treat their employees and how it affects them. This vast experience has given me an
opportunity to become a manager in my current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They work with the notion that they are the boss and do not need to associate with their juniors
provided that job is being done the way they need it to be done. A good manager will consider the
work to be done and the employees available to perform the work to avoid overload. In case of
absenteeism, they will find a way to fill the created space and ensure that quality and quantity is met
without overworking the present employees. Alternatively, if the work is not urgent, it can be
suspended for another day when the right number of workforce is present. In case of any faults in the
production system, a good manager will first ask for the factors that might have contributed to the
problem before taking actions. This promotes happiness and job satisfaction among the workforce. A
bad manager does not care about the amount of work to be performed by each employee and what
they care most is to achieve the daily production cost. Any faults resulting from employee fatigue due
to overload of work may lead to punishments and employees are not given time to explain themselves.
A good manager is always organized. They gave a well crafted plan on what need to be done and
when to be done. They understand the goals of the business and do what it takes to achieve these
goals. They do not things go astray from what they have planned unless it is for the better. At their
position, they are in a

  • 2. Class Struggle Introduction Class struggle is the active expression of a theoretical class conflict looked at from any kind of socialist perspective. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, leading ideologists of communism, wrote The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle . Marx s notion of class has nothing to do with social class in the sociological sense of upper, middle and lower classes (which are often defined in terms of quantitative income or wealth). Instead, in an age of capitalism, Marx describes an economic class. Membership in a class is defined by one s relationship to the means of production, i.e., one s position in the social structure that characterizes capitalism. Marx talks mainly about two classes that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... the floods! This dimension of Bangladesh s reality is much more presentable and in tune with what the viewer wants to see. In addition, floods or monsoons are a lot easier to explain away as inevitable than are riots or strikes. For the bourgeoisie, what would be the point in shaking the dominant image of a country made of too much water and too many poor people ? However, it is not possible to completely black out the existence of class struggle and some information gets through. The following is a resume of news clips from various newspapers in December 1994: On December 4th 1994 thousands of poorly paid and poorly equipped police officers, auxiliary militiamen (Ansars) mutinied, taking over two barracks, 22 officers hostage and managing to take control of the headquarters and training centre in the capital, Dacca. After 4 days, by which time the mutiny had spread to other provinces, repression began in earnest. The army s special forces attacked the occupies barracks, using very significant measures: artillery guns, rockets, helicopters, gas, armored cars... with an official toll of 4 deaths and 50 wounded. The first ideological image is therefore shattered: there are more than just disarmed, ragged, soaking wet beggars in Bangladesh! A different technique is now needed to explain events and, this time, the media choose to fall back on the traditional explanation of struggle between official and opposition parties. Indeed, the mutiny in December 1994 in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On School Vacation It was the last day of school before summer vacation. Taylor, Kennedy, and Avery were freshman s at Eastwood High. They were all so excited for Ashley Brown s end of school year party later that night. Ashley was the most popular person in school and the girls felt so honored to go. Little did they know, that night would change their lives forever. As soon as school ended, Taylor, Kennedy, and Avery rushed home to get ready for Ashley s party. Who is that? Taylor said as she turned and saw a person wearing a black sweatshirt and black jeans running toward them as they were on their way home. When Kennedy turned around the person slowed down and started to walk. It s nobody, Kennedy said, Would you stop worrying so much? When Kennedy turned back around the person started running again. The person caught up to them and started asking them questions. The man asked for Avery s phone number because he claimed to be the person from their school to send out the news. That was weird, said Taylor, School is out and I wonder why he still wanted your phone number. Oh well he has it it now, calm down it s just a phone number, Avery said. Avery was pretty much like any other teenage teenage girl, but she had a very distinct personality that separated her from everyone else. Consumers are demanding fewer frills, less costs, and fewer connecting flights. Financing is becoming more difficult to achieve in the industry due to the fact that so many companies are failing to turn profits and are filing for bankruptcy. Those organizations that have survived the recent down turn in the industry are gaining the ability to acquire other companies through mergers and acquisitions. The industry is also threatened by increased technology, such as video conferencing, that has decreased the demand for business travelers. 5. The critical issue for Continental Airlines is to remain competitive in a struggling environment in spite of discount airlines. 6. Anthony at the International Council of Women in 1888, Matilda Josyln Gage began her speech with a brief sketch of her early entry into the suffrage movement: I have frequently been asked what first turned by thoughts towards woman s rights. I think I was born with a hatred of oppression, and, too, in my father s house, I was trained in the anti slavery ranks, for it was one of the stations on the underground railway, and a home of anti slavery speakers. I prepared my speech, and going to the convention, sat near the front, and with a palpitating heart waited until I obtained courage to go upon the platform, probably to the interference of arrangements, for I knew nothing about the proper course for me to take. But I was so sweetly welcomed by the sainted Lucretia Mott, who gave me a place, and, when I had finished speaking, referred so pleasantly to what I had said, and to her my heart turned always with truest affection. Soon after the close of the convention, almost immediately afterwards, it was criticized from the pulpit by the Rev. Mr. Ashley, of the Episcopal Church, and Rev. Mr. Sunderland, now of this city, but then established at Syracuse. With the latter gentleman I carried on a long newspaper controversy. As Miss Grew has truly said, it is not religion that has opposed woman suffrage, because true religion believes in undoing the heavy burdens and letting the oppressed go free. But from the church and from theology this reform has met opposition at every step. It was Gage s outspoken opposition to the bigotry of Christian theology that would eventually cost her dearly. The Baptist statement mirrors one of Jesus own teachings, the Beatitudes, one of which says: Happy are those who are persecuted in the cause of right; theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Or Happy are you when people abuse you and persecute you because of me and speak all kinds of calumny against you on my account. Naïve animals, which are without prior learning or experience, show an innate response to a sensory stimulus suggesting that they are mediated by genetically determined neural circuits. Most sensory stimuli, however, show an experience dependent response, allowing an organism to respond appropriately in a variable and uncertain world. Thus, behav ioural relevance to sensory cues is mostly acquired through learning. In Drosophila melanogaster, different forms of learning have been observed in response to a number of sensory stimuli. Most antennal lobe projection neurons (PNs) extend their dendrites to a single glo¬merulus while their axons bifurcate to innervate the lateral horn and the MB of the brain. The lateral horn is thought to mediate innate behaviours, whereas the MB translates olfactory sensory information into learned behavioural responses. On the activation from an odorant, PN axons synapse onto the den¬drites of the Kenyon cells (KCs) in the MB calyx. According to anatomical and physiological studies, each KC is said to receive, on an average, 6.4 inputs from a random combination of glo¬meruli which indicates that knowledge of a single input to the KC cannot provide information about all the additional inputs and these connections differ in different flies. The γ, α′/β′, and α/β lobes of the MB are formed from three classes of KCs that extend their parallel fibers to these lobes and form synapses with a relatively small number of MB output neurons (MBONs). The MBONs extend their dendrites into the MB lobes, while their axons are projected to the neuropils which lie outside the MB. Modulatory input neurons which include the dopaminergic neurons (DANs) and octo¬paminergic neurons, also innervate the MB lobes. The MBONs and DANs extend their processes to locations such that they define spatially restricted subdomains in each lobe. DANs are modulatory neurons of the MB that are most prevalent. ... She starts out her speech by telling a joke and explaining her education and experience in social work. A quote her professor put on the board led her to research the connection among people. However, this led to many other things such as shame, fear, and the most prominent factor, vulnerability. She realized that for connection to occur we must be seen completely for who we are. This led to 6 years of research, including hundreds of stories and thousands of pieces of data. Brown wrote a book about her findings but she felt that something was still missing. It turned out the missing component was worthiness. To delve deeper into worthiness, she did a study on people who think they are worthy and people who don t. People who thought they were worthy had these four things in common, courage, compassion, connection, and vulnerability. Brown realized at this point that she needed to understand vulnerability thoroughly by facing it herself. A therapist helped brown face vulnerability head on for a year straight, and in the end, she potentially won her life back. Brown stated ...vulnerability is the core of shame, of fear and of worthiness, but it is also the birthplace of joy, of creativity, of belonging, of love... This term may also be regarded as a synonym of dislocation, multiplicity, cultural conflicts, and marginalized subjects who reside on the periphery of two different lands. Sudesh Mishra delineates this notion as dual territoriality since the subject has to contend with conflicts which are produced as a result of a life between hostland and homeland . According to Mishra, suspended between two such terrains (living without belonging in one, belonging without living in the other), diasporas are seen to represent a new species of social formation (16). Being a loudmouthed teenager , Alexander asks her father, Do you love me? and gets a reply some things need not be said (13). Whenever Meena Alexander feels bewildered and dislocated in her postcolonial world of experience, she finds great solace in the lucid and frank centrality of her father s vision of life ( Krishnakumari 126). Her father believed in leading an orderly life, and in keeping one s emotions under firm control. Concrete and precise descriptions can be seen in Alexander s poems, such as when she describes the red fabric melting into metal teeth while her mother sews a tear in her child s shirt, in the poem Reading Rumi as the Phone Rings (17). In a well researched and scholarly book, Doctors Joesph and Jo Blase accomplish two tasks: outlining how principals should apply instructional leadership skills while performing their jobs, and describing how principals should maintain positive relationships with their teachers while still effectively leading. As well published, credentialed authors in the field of educational leadership, the both of the Blases serve as credible sources on the topic. To accomplish their desired tasks, the authors divide the book into brief chapters that each explain either an attribute of instructional leadership or a method for maintaining positive principal teacher relations. According to the authors themselves, the book s shows what successful instructional leaders do to enhance teaching and learning and the effects that their behaviors have on teachers performance and well being (xiii). Through the authors careful organization of research, use of primary sources, and use of secondary sources, the book accomplishes this goal. To organize their research, the Blases first divide their information into the broad categories of Part I: The Art and Science of Instructional Leadership and Part II: How Supervisor s Behaviors Positive and Negative Affect Teachers. They compare the argument of advocates to saying that men shouldn t be able to drive because they are statistically more likely to be in accidents than women. They also bring up that teens have to deal with the same things as adults. The need to be able to get to a job. Without a car, they cannot. The proposed alternative to raising the driving age is a GDL. A GDL, or a graduated driver s license, gives teens more freedoms depending on how much they have driven. Advocates say that it gives teens the time they need to practice before having complete freedom. The opponents say it limits the time they have to practice due to restrictions on when teens can drive. • 34. A Story of a Madman or a Paranoid Murderer A Story of a Madman or a Paranoid Murderer? Often referred to as the architect of the modern short story, Edgar Allen Poe paints a vivid picture of a seemingly insane man murdering his elderly roommate in the short story, The Tell Tale Heart ( Biography ). It is a great example of Poe s style, with the major themes being insanity, paranoia, and murder. The Tell Tale Heart is a short story written with the intent of focusing on the psyche of the main character. Since it is told from a first person point of view, the audience is able to see what the protagonist is thinking and how his plan of this murder develops ( Biography ). This story might just seem like a tale of insanity, guilt, and murder, but upon further examination, it is a tale of moral deficiency, superhuman ability, paranoia, and ironic dissemblance. In The Tell Tale Heart , Poe s use of the unreliable narrator is very well executed, because the lack of certain details adds to the suspense of this grim story. The reader is able to focus on the raw details of the murderous plot and the events that follow, in addition by leaving out certain details, it leads to some interesting questions. Who is the narrator s audience that he is confessing the details of his crime to? What is the disease that he speaks of in the beginning? Is guilt the main reason for his confession at the end of the story? Perhaps the most obvious question raised after reading The Tell Tale Heart, is whether the main character actually ... The accounts that coincide with each other, although differ in perspectives are, Farewell to Manzanar, and, The Bracelet . Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir written by Jeanne Wakatsuki who discusses how her and her family had hardships during the time of the Japanese American War. The Bracelet is a short story by Yoshika Uchida. The author wrote about a Japanese adolescent, Ruri, who learns a life lesson while going through traumatic times. Based on a comparison of multiple events, Jeanne and Ruri have undergone the same experiences. However, those events defined how their and other individuals attitudes contrast. Likewise to Ruri, Jeanne was forced into an internment camp because Americans feared them turning against the United States. Jeanne and Ruri s attitude towards the event were alike due to how they were called enemy aliens. Ruri believes that her father was loyal to the United States, so it was funny to her how he was being taken away and considered an enemy alien. Man vs. nature conflict signifies the recurring weather conditions the men battle through.
