Beethoven And Stravinsky Similarities
Music has been in the world for so long that it has developed over time by composers who make
music and even try their best to change how the world sees music. Three musicians that will be talked
about in this essay are Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky. Each composer s life is different from the
other. Mozart started out as a child prodigy who was able to play instruments at a very young age. He
later started composing music which he manifested in his head. He didn t need any piano or other
instruments because he heard it in his head and just wrote down the music. Sadly, though, he died as a
poor man who left debts, but his music is still known to this day. Unlike Mozart, Beethoven was not
recognized in his time as much of a child prodigy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, they were taught music by some sort of father figure. For Mozart it was his actual father. For
Beethoven it is not known if his real father or an adopted father was the one who taught him piano.
Stravinsky had an adopted father who was the one who taught him music since his real father wanted
Stravinsky to be a lawyer. Additionally, they all had an influential role in the evolutionof music.
Mozart had a great influence on the music of the Classical period, but he also helped in the
development of the Romantic era. Beethoven was the major composer of the Romantic Era and helped
develop the modern era. Stravinsky, as stated before, was one of the most influential composers of the
20th century. They also had some sort of distinct way in which they would write music. Mozart s
music, for example, was usually graceful, restraint, balances but at the same time it could be dark. He
was able to create music that was unique. Beethoven s music, on the other hand, included the pedal,
which helped him make it more emotional. His songs would sometimes have a sort of joyful tune in
them, then it would turn darker and sound angry; his music had lots of emotion. While Stravinsky still
utilized styles from the Classical period, his music had more rhythmic and harmonic

Asian Americans Health Disparities
2015 2016 Statistic on Asian American Cancer Health Disparities April is National Minority Health
Month. Despite major advances in medicine, ever evolving technology and more noteworthy access to
medicinal services over the past century, there are tenacious disparities in health that disproportionally
influence racial and ethnic minorities and other helpless populations. These disparities are obvious in
some key measures of wellbeing including life expectancy, the risk for disease, and access to health
care (Disparities in Health, 2015). Historically, the major factors contributing to shorter longevity and
high rates of disease are overcrowding, poor sanitation and low availability of treatment facilities.
However, the change of theses socioeconomic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Year-Round Schooling
After a long summer break full of vacations, pool days, endless sleepovers, and other crazy
adventures, students return to school with rested minds and darker skin. During the previous school
year, they were constantly worried about homework, projects, and tests. Their three month getaway
has cleared their thoughts of school completely, which is precisely the problem. When teachers ask
returning students what material they remember from last year, the answer is absolutely nothing.
Summer learning loss is only one major problem of the famous three month long vacation from school
(Ballinger and Kneese 2). The traditional school calendar was created during a time when children
needed to help work at the farm, and we are far past being a primarily ... Show more content on

Educational research shows that students forget a lot of what they learned in school over the long
summer break, so teachers must spend the beginning of the next school year reviewing this
information instead of teaching new lessons (Ballinger and Kneese 2). Students could learn
significantly more material in school with a year round schedule because they would remember more
of the previous information they have learned. Many failing schools have a large proportion of
students from disadvantaged homes, and these students are more prone to summer learning loss (3).
Since this loss accumulates each year, these students become so far behind their peers that they decide
to drop out (3). According to a study in the American Sociological Review, the information that
students from low income families lose over summer breaks accumulates and contributes to the
perpetuation of family advantage and disadvantage across generations ( Leave 1). By changing to a
year round calendar, les students from low income households will drop out of school, which helps to
break the poverty cycle. Also, year round schooling makes it easier to learn a second language because
this skill requires daily or frequent practice (Ballinger and Kneese 4). Since students have shorter
breaks from learning with a year round schedule, they will be able to master a new language more
efficiently. Every student, even those who tend to struggle in school, will be more likely to succeed
with a school schedule that shortens the three month long summer

Copyright Law Should Encourage Creativity And Innovation...
Introduction Longer copyright terms can prove beneficial for large mass media companies as
evidenced by The Walt Disney Company s lobbying for the Copyright Term Extension Act. This act,
often dubbed the Mickey Mouse Protection Act, extended copyright protection for an additional
twenty years in 1998. Consequently, Mickey Mouse is now set to enter the public domain on January
1, 2024. Disney will once again have the opportunity to lobby for extension and evade Mickey s
copyright expiration, thus preventing its most iconic character from entering the public domain. This
holds pressing significance because lobbying for further extension legislation would likely occur
within the next few years. The duration of copyright determines the length of protection. Limitations
on this length exist to ensure works enter the public domain. Therefore, the length of protection is one
of the most relevant and debated issues regarding copyright law. The proponents and opponents of
copyright term extension make compelling arguments, but both sides agree that copyright law should
encourage creativity and innovation. If Disney is successful in once again lobbying for an extension of
duration, a substantial number of works will fail to enter the public domain in a timely manner. This
will, consequently, lead to a stifling of creativity and a suppression of innovation that could be
detrimental to progress in the realms of science and the useful arts.
Argument
As stated, the proponents and

Essay On Elbow Dislocation
After the diagnosis from the orthopedic doctor of a posterior elbow dislocation, the athlete was
instructed to wear a mobilization brace locked out at thirty degrees until his next follow up
appointment. During this time, gentle range of motion activities began involving the wrist and the
elbow in both flexion and extension. The athlete also worked on grip strength with putty, increasing
the time and intensity as needed. In addition to these activities, isometric elbow contractions added to
the intensity of the rehabilitation. After the rehabilitation sessions finished, the athlete iced the injured
area.
The athlete began to heat the injured area before beginning his exercise to help promote increasing
range of motion. Both active and passive stretching of the elbow and wrist assists the athlete in

Wall pushups were then added to the athlete s rehabilitation program.
Next, the athletic training staff added elbow curls and extension to the athlete s rehabilitation program.
Also, the athlete began upper body proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation exercises in both the D1

A Critical Analysis Of Technological Disruption Essay
A Critical Analysis of Technological Disruption in the Book Industry In the last decade, content
industries have experienced massive technological disruption. From streaming services such as Netflix
and Spotify to online newspaper subscriptions and e readers, technology has forced these industries to
experiment with different models and adapt to consumers changing expectations. The United States
publishing industry is worth about 27 billion dollars with over 1 million books published in 2009
(Campbell et al., 2016, p. 53). While books were traditionally a print product made in either a
hardcover or softcover format, modern e readers such as Amazon s Kindle and Barnes and Noble s
Nook have popularized the consumption of digital books called e books. Traditional industry leaders
believe e readers are a threat to the industry s existence because they radically affecting the ways in
which industry leaders generate profit. In this paper, I will critically analyze the effect of e readers on
the book industry. First, I will describe how the industry has changed in the last decade since the
Kindle was introduced. Then, I will analyze trends between the book industry and other industries that
face similar technological disruption. Then, I will provide broader societal context for those trends and
interpret their meaning. Finally, I will evaluate whether the disruption has had good or bad effects for
both producers and consumers, and discuss potential learning opportunities for

George Hobbes And Thomas Hobbes
Corruption, false votes, unearned donated money; law breaking, lies, and hypocrisy are just some of
the few factors that can be caused by a person s human nature and therefore cause political instability.
Nicollò Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes, two philosophers from the sixteenth and seventeenth
century respectively, each have their own definitions of human nature and why human nature is
always going to be a conflict and therefore lead to political instability. Human nature is an important
concept to study when it comes to politics because if people know that there exists evil in man, such
as being selfish, we can learn how to control it in order to create political stability. Hobbes declares
that humans are selfish and only concerned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To become enemies is the conclusion Hobbes says, and then the men will fight and attempt to harm
one another. Hobbes addresses such times as war.
According to Hobbes, (Curley 2012, 76) Whatsoever therefore is consequent to a time of war, where
every man is enemy to every man, the same consequent to the time wherein men live without other
security than what their own strength and their own invention shall furnish them withal. In such
condition there is no place for industry, because the fruit thereof is uncertain: and consequently no
culture of the earth; no navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported by sea; no
commodious building; no instruments of moving and removing such things as require much force; no
knowledge of the face of the earth; no account of time; no arts; no letters; no society; and which is
worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty,
brutish, and short.
On the contrary, Machiavelli believes that man should look out for himself and no one else; he
believes that men are only concerned with their own self interest anyways. Human nature is a concept
that Machiavelli really mocks in a sense in that he sets guidelines in exactly what a prince needs to be
in order to be successful. He states that the prince should be the one and only sole authority, and he
must be trustworthy and cause fear in order to have

Revocable Trust Essay
Revocable Trusts
Perhaps the greatest advantage of setting up a revocable trust is avoiding the probate process. A trust is
especially beneficial if you own real estate in more than one state. Without a trust, your loved ones
will be faced with probate proceedings in each state you own property in. A trust accomplishes the
distribution of assets to your beneficiaries who should receive them. However, a trust is generally
considered to possess superior advantages over a probate for several reasons.
A trust provides a private, non probate administration. The only persons entitled to notice or
accounting of trust assets are the beneficiaries. Distribution of trust assets can often be accomplished
within a few weeks of the death of the person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Probate is considered a public proceeding, and literally anyone can read your probate file, and your
will once it is filed. A trust doesn t require being filed with the court, so there is no file for anyone to
see.
Drawbacks
Initially, it will cost more to set up a revocable trust than to write a Last Will and Testament.
However, in the long run a trust will reduce stress and your family will save money by avoiding
probate when you die, and guardianship if you were to become incapacitated or disabled.
Unfortunately, you will still need a will, a special one to cover unfunded assets. If you miss an asset,
or die before transferring all your assets into the trust a special will created for this situation will
protect them. The will requires probating, but will only cover the unfunded assets. Nevertheless, it is a
consideration when your still in the decision process of whether or not to establish a revocable trust.
Contesting a trust may allow a longer period of time than a will. Whereas contesting a will is
typically allowed for 30 to 90 days, contesting a trust can be allowed for as long as 5 years depending
on the individual states statute of limitations. However, a few states are beginning to change the
restriction to less restrictive time

Lolita Essay
De victimizing Lolita: Removing Emotion from the Classroom
Abstract: This paper focuses on Vladimir Nabokov s novel Lolita. Specifically the argument discusses
the need for reform within the classroom setting regarding student reaction and interpretation to the
text. Class discussion involving Lolita tends to fall under a blanket of socially constructed
presumptions that lend the discussion toward a shallow and judgmental reading of the text, and this
tendency limits the discussion. This paper argues that, for a teacher attempting to teach this novel, it is
important to limit the amount of emotionally reactionary responses and guide the class towards a more
allegorical or symbolic representation of the text. This paper is intended for ... Show more content on

However, when I found myself again discussing Lolita with this same narrow approach in my
graduate class, I began to wonder if the majority of readers only focused on Humbert Humbert s
transgressions. Had the rest of the world missed the point? Could no one recognize the genius behind
the monster? Is it possible for the average reader to grasp the ironic intentions of the author, or is
Lolita forever overshadowed by the reader s need to judge and dismiss?
Too often Lolita is read from only one perspective, the perspective of monstrosity. Nabokov the
pornographer threatened to expose and corrupt others, particularly children, through the publication of
a novel about unnatural desire (Whiting 835). The tendency is for the average reader to become
entangled in a moral debate, to take opposition to the seemingly criminal and amoral acts of the
narrator, to condemn him for his blatant and grotesque sin. This surface analysis of the text was
prevalent at the time of publication, delaying the release of the novel in the United States by three
years. Most reviews of the novel [Lolita] dealt with the narrow issue of its alleged obscenity. The
novel was published three years earlier in France because Nabokov could not find an American
publisher ready to risk publishing it (Tamir Ghez 65). Critical theory since this time has uncovered
multiple layers of interpretation that offer much more meaningful analysis of the novel

Essay On Russian And Soviet Government
Russia has been run by many different governments since the time of Peter the Great. Accordingly, all
of these governments had their advantages, but eventually all will be replaced by a new system of
government. The Russian and Soviet governments contain vastly different political systems and
ideologies, but the performance of power by the leaders has not changed that vastly.
Systems of Governments
Tsars ruled Russia for several hundreds of years before falling with the events of the Bolshevik
Revolution. The reign is known for the land expansions that were implemented. Peter was the first of
many Russian leaders to believe ...he did not need the church s guidance, but was directly answerable
to God... (Hoskings, 37). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, a major ideology is the right for the people to have elections to elect their government
officials.
The Authoritarian reign began with the appointment and election of Vladimir Putin and continues until
the present, as he is still in power. Putin uses the ideologies of power, whether in the military sphere,
the political field or the financial world.
Performance of Power
Peter the Great displayed his power in many different ways throughout his reign. He hosted a grand
advent, which would replace his coronation, to celebrate his victory at Azov. His coronation occurred
when he was ten years old; this advent celebrating the Crimean Tatars defeat was the first real outing
of his reign. Later, staged battles that displayed Peter working his way up through the ranks; paintings
and engravings were made to commemorate his victories, often referring to himself and Russia as a
whole as various Roman gods and goddesses. These displays were a way for Peter to display his
dominance to his people throughout his empire, given that there was no modern technology in his
time.
Stalin performed his power in a slightly different way as there was quicker communication systems in
place compared to Peter s time. His charisma and control of the major newspapers led to a cult being
formed with Stalin at the head. This cult prevented uprisings and the population s moral higher. He

Cancer and Soy Protein Essay example
Soy has been greatly exaggerated as the answer to all our problems for years. Soy, in and of itself, is
toxic to the human body unless cooked thoroughly and properly. There are several side affects of soy
consumption, but the one I will be discussing is cancer. The miracle cure for cancer is said to be soy
protein and isoflavone supplements. Cancer rates are at an all time high, and the disease is the second
leading cause of mortality in the United States. The idea that soy could save lives sounds amazing but,
unfortunately, that is not the case.

This puts consumers at a greater risk for many health problems, including cancer. The soy industry
says that soy has a long list of evidence in the prevention and healing of gastrointestinal cancers. The
fact that soy protein is linked with a lowered risk of stomach cancer but a higher risk of death from
colorectal cancer was made known by the most remarkable study to come along in recent years. Little
or no association is shown by most epidemiological studies. Those from the allium family like onions
and garlic and yellow and green vegetables seem to be the most hopeful foods for cancer defense.
Other foods have been found protective like eggplant, tomatoes, poultry, celery, tea, milk, fish, and
snap beans. Soy is not the only dietary savior. The studies fail to sustain Solae Company s petition for
a health claim for soy protein, but give good support for the FDA s endorsement of fruits and veggies
as a way to prevent cancer. Foods that are pickled, smoked and fried, vegetable cooking oils,
processed meats, high salt dishes, and fermented beans mainly labeled soy miso are often associated
with stomach and colon cancers. Things that have also been implicated are smoking, alcohol, noodles,
bread and other starchy carbohydrates, speed eating, and binge eating. It is not shocking that miso and
other fermented soybean products are associated to gastrointestinal cancers

The First Clinical Experience Of A Nurse Essay
The First Clinical Experience
On an early morning in April, my friends and I arrived 45 minutes early to our long term care facility
in Scottsdale, Arizona. The three of us anxiously awaited stepping foot into the care facility as we had
no idea what was to come. I began to wonder what the patients would be like and how I would care
for them. Consequently, I could feel my heart pounding as I was afraid of hurting the residents and not
promoting healing from their ailments. I didn t know what illnesses or diseases would place
individuals in the healthcare unit in the facility. That terrified me. I wanted to know everything I could
about the residents prior to stepping foot in the building, but that knowledge wasn t attainable. While
trying to process my fears, I was thinking of the quote from Maya Angelou that says, As a nurse, we
have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and
ourselves. They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel. This lack
of knowledge scared me; however, I knew that regardless of what placed the residents on the unit, I
would care for them with respect and compassion.
Eventually the time rolled around to walk in the front door, and I was shaking with nerves. My
learning community of ten students and our instructor walked into the building, through many
hallways, and onto the unit our first nursing unit. We quietly walked through the center room, which

Internet Gaming Addiction
There is debate over whether compulsive online gaming will eventually be acknowledged as a process

his reluctance to relocate to the U.S. He was having a hard time speaking English and he began to

Lokahi (balance) is when healing for the physical body cannot occur without setting right any
problems within the mental or spiritual realm. As a nurse this means spending time with the patient in
order to get to know them and determining the true origin of the illness. Lokahi triangle represents
when one is healthy the physical, mental, and spiritual parts of a person are in harmony. The three
points of the triangle include not only the physical body but also the environment surrounding that
person, relationships with others, particularly family members, ancestors and god, as well as mental
and emotional states. In addition, the patient has to be willing to take responsibility for the healing
including making amends for any wrongs that they might have caused in the

The Downside Of Downsizing Analysis
According to the article, The Downside of Downsizing, Caela Farren, points out that companies no
longer have loyalty to their workers; therefore, it is no surprise that workers no longer look to remain
in jobs long term. Farren also believes that companies need to look beyond the bottom line and see
that it is the human factor that makes the company successful (Farren, 2008). Receiving notice that
your position will be impacted by a reduction in force, downsizing, or outsourcing, regardless of what
it is called, it has the same effect and that is a loss of employment and security. Reports of job loss in
2015 indicate that close to180,000 people have been eliminated by mass layoffs from large companies.
The news reports that there are more cuts still to come before year end. What is causing all these
people to lose their jobs? Bankruptcies, restructuring, divestitures to focus on mainstay products, and
reduction in federal budgets have all been listed as reasons for the job losses (Zillman, 2015). ... Show

The biggest difference between these two is that off shoring indicates that jobs are leaving the U.S.
and being assumed by foreign entities. This is the case that occurred to the accounting employees at
the Toys R Us headquarters earlier in 2015. Temporary workers from India were brought in to learn
and document the processes of American accountants. Once these tasks were completed, the Toys R
Us employees in New Jersey were laid off and their jobs were assumed in India. This was
accomplished under a temporary work visa program that was designed by Congress. However, it was
meant to bring foreigners with unique skills to help American companies grow, not to take jobs away
from Americans and move them to other countries (Preston,

Aerobic Respiration And Aerobic Respiration
Aerobic respiration, also known as cellular respiration, is an essential process for the production of
ATP and occurs in 3 metabolic stages. The stages included are glycolysis, the Kreb s cycle, and
oxidative phosphorylation. Throughout the whole process, glucose or various other saccharides are
broken down, producing CO2, ATP, NADH, Pyruvate, and FADH2. Aerobic respiration and anaerobic
respiration are very similar, the only difference is the final electron acceptor, as Aerobic respiration
involves oxygen. In order to study and detect how much cellular respiration occurs in an organism, the
amount of glucose used, the amount of oxygen consumed, or the amount of CO2 given off can be
measured. Bread, wine, and beer are all made from yeast. Yeast must go through cellular respiration
and produce CO2 in order for the bread to rise and form properly; however, different monosaccharides
may affect the level of CO2, measured in mL, given off by Saccharomyces cerevisiae (found in yeast),
while affecting yeast s ability to metabolize during glycolysis. Durham tubes (a sealed, cut off 5 mL,
pipette) can be used to measure the amount of CO2 produced as the yeast metabolizes.
The approached used was to test the level of CO2 (mL) production, after different solutions with 1.5
mL of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and 4.5 mL and either 1M of glucose, fructose, or galactose go
through cellular respiration. The higher level of CO2 produced indicates the more cellular respiration
that took place. A

Lack Of Marginal Utility Theory
Suppliers might have to do a market research in order to forecast the consumer behaviour. To do this
efficiently, firms might use marginal utility theory, namely principle of diminishing marginal utility
together with indifference analysis.
Utility is the satisfaction that people earn from the consumption of a certain quantity of a product
(Mankiw and Taylor, 2014). Marginal utility is the additional satisfaction that customer gains from
consuming one extra unit within a given period of time. However, the more of a product a person
consumes, the less additional utility they are able to gain from that extra unit. Understanding this
situation, economists come up with indifference analysis. Indifference analysis shows how consumer
chooses the combination between two goods but still obtains the same satisfaction and indifference
curve is the graph which illustrates that combination. It means, at any points on indifference curve, the
consumer is indifferent about how to combine the two goods. Diagrammatically, if a person chooses 6
units of good Y with 2 units of good X, his utility will not be different from choosing 4 units of Y with
3 units of X, as long as those points are still on the curve.
Most indifference curves have a convex shape and the reason is this. The lower units of good Y, the
bigger quantity of good X in order to satisfy the loss of good Y. Nevertheless, the amount of giving up
one of these two good cannot be the same. In other words, if the one of the

The Lie Society s Living
The Lie Society s Living
A man opening his front door with a briefcase in his hand, yells, Honey I m home! after a tiring day at
work has been shown in many movies and TV shows in America, but is this an accurate representation
of our society life today? Is it men who is still the head of the house or has society changed throughout
the years? Is the struggle of women being seconded with making decisions a valid point? Stephen
Marche s article Home Economic: The Link Between Work Life Balance and Income Equality
presents the argument that the major struggle in domestic life isn t men versus women or mothers
versus fathers; it s the family against money (1). Marche s ideas in the article are only a small step in
the right in the right direction, but are correct in his verdicts (might change word).
Marche begins explaining his take on the article Why Women Still Can t Have it All? by Anne Marie
Slaughter s and the book, Lean In, by Sheryl Sandberg (Need explanation) (2). He believes that it is
odd men are not in the picture with the discussion of work and life and concludes that the decision
made in a family must be made together (2). Marche describes the book Lean in to show aspects of
false hope, since work and talent alone cannot bring someone closer to success for both men and
women (2). After reading the article Why Women Still Can t Have It All?, he thought of the many men
that may have it all (qtd. in 3) who, in reality, do

Maistre In Canterbury Tales
The lack of literacy and the church s tremendous power during the Middle Ages resulted in a chain of
being ; the order was established by the church and only emphasized the patriarchal society of the
time. During the late fourteenth century, Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales, a collection of
individual stories that included The Wife of Bath. The last stanza of The Wife of Bath s Prologue
culminates the Wife s argument that the concept of maistre should rest in the hands of the female
partner in order to balance the unequal footing created by the chain of being.
The concept of maistre is defined as the sovereignty in a marriage, that is, whichever partner has the
maistre has the power in a union. The passage takes place after the confrontation between the Wife of
Bath and her fifth husband, Janekin. After such a brutal physical fight, they reconcile at last with
muchel care and wo (817). Chaucer s use of the word care characterizes the actions of the two as timid
and tender; the two tip toe around the other. The Wife loves Janekin so much that she appointed him
maister of my body and of my good, (320) which granted him full maistre. Janekin reinforced his
power over his wife by refraining from satisfying her sexual desires. After suffering through Janekin s
control, He yaf me al the bridel in myn hand, (819) the Wife receives the metaphorical reins of their
marriage back. The governance of hous and land (820) also symbolize the transfer of power from

Refuge Searchers Essay
We, as a country, have apologized, however a statement of regret can t fix the wrong that was finished.
Or maybe, a statement of regret is an assertion of sense of duty regarding guarantee that the errors of
the past never reemerge. Unfortunately, these are unfilled words if there are no activities to back them
up; more terrible yet, in the event that our activities as a country repudiate what we say. The 2013
government race focussed vigorously on the issue of refuge searchers, specifically the individuals who
traveled by vessel. Individuals escaping war and abuse frequently embrace urgent measures in quest
for a protected and cheerful life for themselves and their families. This incorporates making unsafe
excursions via ocean in ineffectively looked after vessels, regularly without satisfactory lifesaving
arrangements. Men, ladies, youngsters and children pack into these vessels and plan to make it
securely to our shores. Hundreds suffocate when their watercraft breaks, or breakes on the stones of
our northern drift. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

uncertain periods with no charge laid against them, denying them access to any legal counselor, and

Klamath Basin Reclamation Essay
Basin History and Reclamation The Klamath Project is truly an impressive feat of engineering and
representative of the might of American problem solving. It consists of 5 dams, 29 pumping stations,
120 miles of canals, 477 miles of laterals, and 644 miles of drains to feed the water demands of the
Klamath Irrigation Project(see figure one) (Foster 2008). Construction of the Klamath Basin
Reclamation project began in 1906 and Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge was created through the
combined efforts of William Finley and waterfowl hunters in 1908(Kittredge Blake and Blake 2000).
Ira Gabrielson, the first director of the Fish and Wildlife Service, described the Tule Lake Wildlife
Refuge a biological wonderland the sump was over 80,000 acres of shallow marsh, fed by overflow
from the Klamath River and a few small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The role of the Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge as a bird oasis among disappearing wetlands was
short lived. The combined efforts of the Klamath Water Users Association and the Bureau of
Reclamation resulted in Klamath Lake being cut off from its main water source by the construction of
the South Pacific Railroad dike(Most 2006;Foster 2008). In 1922 all that remained of Lower Klamath
Lake was a 365 acre pond. However because farmer s fields were sometimes flooded by Tule Lake,
which overpowered the dikes built to restrain it, the Bureau of Reclamation built a 6,000 foot tunnel to
pump excess water from Tule Lake to Lower Klamath Lake. The pipe aided in abetting the
environmental problems experienced in Lower Klamath and Tule Lakes, though they have never been
fully refilled (Most 2006). As a result of this hydrological engineering, Lower Klamath NWR is nearly
entirely dry during drought years, while Tule Lake becomes overcrowded with birds

Why Do Jewish Holidays
When people think of holidays they would think Christmas or thanksgiving. But with the Jewish
religion they celebrate holidays a little bit different than most people. With the Jewish cultural they
celebrate Shabbat, Passover, You Kippur, Sukkot, and Hanukkah.
The Shabbat is considered the most important of all Jewish holidays. It is the day of rest and weekly
observance of God s completion of creation. Shabbat starts on a Friday night an hour before sunset, it
lasts for 25 hour until sunset on Saturday night. This holiday is one of the way the Jewish people
connect with Yahweh because these people will make some of the tuitional meal that comes with this
holiday. Also, they will make the setting special because they are celebration their god ... Show more

It is the most solemn day of the Jewish year, Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement offers an
entire day devoted to self examination. Many spend the day in synagogue devoted to prayer and study
while abstaining from food and drink. The goal is to begin the New Year with a clean slate, which can
be good for many of the Jews who do bad things and need a new start at life.
And after that would come Sukkot. This seven day festival celebrates the fall harvest and also
commemorates the time when the Hebrews dwelt in the Sinai wilderness on their way to the Promised
land of Israel, which is important for the Jewish people because they don t want to end up in what they
called pit of fire. Also, the holiday is celebrated by building (and then dwelling in) ceremonial huts
called Sukkot.
Finally comes Hanukkah. This beloved eight day winter festival celebrates the miracle of a small cruse
of oil when it burned for eight days, instead of only one. It also celebrates the military victory of the
Jewish Maccabees over the powerful Syrian Greek army in 167 BCE. The victory was followed by a
rededication(Hanukkah) of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem. It is from this act that the holiday gets its
name, which I find very interesting because of something so small created a holiday. But with
Christian religion it would be Christmas and its only celebrated one day. The day where Mary had

B2B eCommerce Guide Core Business Features
Core Business Features Define eCommerce Capabilities
Functionality in B2B eCommerce websites depends on subsets of core and custom features, back
office tools, user interfaces, and even design considerations that affect what viewers see when they
visit a website. Regardless of software platform, certain core business features are essential for highly
functional B2B eCommerce websites, but how companies handle the various duties these features
perform can determine success in competitive markets and impact every area of business operations.
That s why it s critical to choose an operating platform where core business functions can be
customized to specific industries and B2B models to foster greater functionality, appealing and
intuitive interfaces for stakeholders, better communications and greater abilities to manage and
monitor eCommerce operations throughout the buying and shipping cycles.
Addressing the B2B User Experience
Most people have shopped at Amazon or eBay and understand how convenient the buying process is
at B2C eCommerce websites where the user experience or UX trumps every aspect of the business
process. Although the B2B process differs in many ways, smart decision makers in business to
business marketing understand that the user experience is critical and not just for customers but for
business collaborations, distributor efficiency, lead generation and important internal processes. The

Jean Piaget Essay
Jean Piaget was a major contributor to the world of psychology and sociology that we know today. His
works and discoveries still help sociologist determine and figure out ways people in society interact
and develop throughout time. Piaget was born on August 9, 1896 and was raised in Neuchâtel,
Switzerland (Boeree n.d.). His family was very influential to his success. His father was a historian
that authored many writings on the medieval times, and his mother was very intellectual and kind,
however, she had a mental health problem that pushed Piaget to become interested in psychology
(Presnell 1999). He became an enthused and determined scholar at a young age. Piaget s early

Piaget worked in a psychiatric lab in Zurich for a year where he studied the thoughts of Jung and
Freud. Piaget also started teaching psychology in 1919 in Paris. This is where he started doing studies
of intelligence testing with Simon Benet Fame. Piaget felt that the right wrong ways of intelligence
testing was an unreliable source; instead he started interviewing school boys. He used psychiatric
techniques to learn about adolescence reasoning (Boeree n.d.). Piaget researched in many places, such
as, the Jean Jacques Rousseau Institute of Geneva in 1921 where he studied the mental capabilities of
an infant in the first two years of life. This is where he would write and publish his first works on
children phycology. During this time he met his soon to be wife, Valentine Chatenay. After his success
of his first five books, in 1925 Piaget started teaching psychology at Neuchatel University (Presnell
1999). During this time he would become a father of two daughters and a son. He would use them as
observational studies as they grew up (Boeree n.d.). Piaget continued to study and teach at numerous
places, such as, Lausanne and Paris (Jean Piaget Biography n.d.). He ended up writing over sixty
books and articles during his long career. Piaget past away in Geneva, Switzerland on the 16th of
September 1980, over fifty years of excellent research that will shape the world of psychology and
sociology for years to come (Boeree n.d.).

  • 2. Beethoven And Stravinsky Similarities Music has been in the world for so long that it has developed over time by composers who make music and even try their best to change how the world sees music. Three musicians that will be talked about in this essay are Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky. Each composer s life is different from the other. Mozart started out as a child prodigy who was able to play instruments at a very young age. He later started composing music which he manifested in his head. He didn t need any piano or other instruments because he heard it in his head and just wrote down the music. Sadly, though, he died as a poor man who left debts, but his music is still known to this day. Unlike Mozart, Beethoven was not recognized in his time as much of a child prodigy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, they were taught music by some sort of father figure. For Mozart it was his actual father. For Beethoven it is not known if his real father or an adopted father was the one who taught him piano. Stravinsky had an adopted father who was the one who taught him music since his real father wanted Stravinsky to be a lawyer. Additionally, they all had an influential role in the evolutionof music. Mozart had a great influence on the music of the Classical period, but he also helped in the development of the Romantic era. Beethoven was the major composer of the Romantic Era and helped develop the modern era. Stravinsky, as stated before, was one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. They also had some sort of distinct way in which they would write music. Mozart s music, for example, was usually graceful, restraint, balances but at the same time it could be dark. He was able to create music that was unique. Beethoven s music, on the other hand, included the pedal, which helped him make it more emotional. His songs would sometimes have a sort of joyful tune in them, then it would turn darker and sound angry; his music had lots of emotion. While Stravinsky still utilized styles from the Classical period, his music had more rhythmic and harmonic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Despite major advances in medicine, ever evolving technology and more noteworthy access to medicinal services over the past century, there are tenacious disparities in health that disproportionally influence racial and ethnic minorities and other helpless populations. These disparities are obvious in some key measures of wellbeing including life expectancy, the risk for disease, and access to health care (Disparities in Health, 2015). Historically, the major factors contributing to shorter longevity and high rates of disease are overcrowding, poor sanitation and low availability of treatment facilities. However, the change of theses socioeconomic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Year-Round Schooling After a long summer break full of vacations, pool days, endless sleepovers, and other crazy adventures, students return to school with rested minds and darker skin. During the previous school year, they were constantly worried about homework, projects, and tests. Their three month getaway has cleared their thoughts of school completely, which is precisely the problem. When teachers ask returning students what material they remember from last year, the answer is absolutely nothing. Summer learning loss is only one major problem of the famous three month long vacation from school (Ballinger and Kneese 2). The traditional school calendar was created during a time when children needed to help work at the farm, and we are far past being a primarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Educational research shows that students forget a lot of what they learned in school over the long summer break, so teachers must spend the beginning of the next school year reviewing this information instead of teaching new lessons (Ballinger and Kneese 2). Students could learn significantly more material in school with a year round schedule because they would remember more of the previous information they have learned. Many failing schools have a large proportion of students from disadvantaged homes, and these students are more prone to summer learning loss (3). Since this loss accumulates each year, these students become so far behind their peers that they decide to drop out (3). According to a study in the American Sociological Review, the information that students from low income families lose over summer breaks accumulates and contributes to the perpetuation of family advantage and disadvantage across generations ( Leave 1). By changing to a year round calendar, les students from low income households will drop out of school, which helps to break the poverty cycle. Also, year round schooling makes it easier to learn a second language because this skill requires daily or frequent practice (Ballinger and Kneese 4). Since students have shorter breaks from learning with a year round schedule, they will be able to master a new language more efficiently. Every student, even those who tend to struggle in school, will be more likely to succeed with a school schedule that shortens the three month long summer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Copyright Law Should Encourage Creativity And Innovation... Introduction Longer copyright terms can prove beneficial for large mass media companies as evidenced by The Walt Disney Company s lobbying for the Copyright Term Extension Act. This act, often dubbed the Mickey Mouse Protection Act, extended copyright protection for an additional twenty years in 1998. Consequently, Mickey Mouse is now set to enter the public domain on January 1, 2024. Disney will once again have the opportunity to lobby for extension and evade Mickey s copyright expiration, thus preventing its most iconic character from entering the public domain. This holds pressing significance because lobbying for further extension legislation would likely occur within the next few years. The duration of copyright determines the length of protection. Limitations on this length exist to ensure works enter the public domain. Therefore, the length of protection is one of the most relevant and debated issues regarding copyright law. The proponents and opponents of copyright term extension make compelling arguments, but both sides agree that copyright law should encourage creativity and innovation. If Disney is successful in once again lobbying for an extension of duration, a substantial number of works will fail to enter the public domain in a timely manner. This will, consequently, lead to a stifling of creativity and a suppression of innovation that could be detrimental to progress in the realms of science and the useful arts. Argument As stated, the proponents and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Elbow Dislocation After the diagnosis from the orthopedic doctor of a posterior elbow dislocation, the athlete was instructed to wear a mobilization brace locked out at thirty degrees until his next follow up appointment. During this time, gentle range of motion activities began involving the wrist and the elbow in both flexion and extension. The athlete also worked on grip strength with putty, increasing the time and intensity as needed. In addition to these activities, isometric elbow contractions added to the intensity of the rehabilitation. After the rehabilitation sessions finished, the athlete iced the injured area. • 8. A Critical Analysis Of Technological Disruption Essay A Critical Analysis of Technological Disruption in the Book Industry In the last decade, content industries have experienced massive technological disruption. From streaming services such as Netflix and Spotify to online newspaper subscriptions and e readers, technology has forced these industries to experiment with different models and adapt to consumers changing expectations. The United States publishing industry is worth about 27 billion dollars with over 1 million books published in 2009 (Campbell et al., 2016, p. 53). While books were traditionally a print product made in either a hardcover or softcover format, modern e readers such as Amazon s Kindle and Barnes and Noble s Nook have popularized the consumption of digital books called e books. Traditional industry leaders believe e readers are a threat to the industry s existence because they radically affecting the ways in which industry leaders generate profit. George Hobbes And Thomas Hobbes Corruption, false votes, unearned donated money; law breaking, lies, and hypocrisy are just some of the few factors that can be caused by a person s human nature and therefore cause political instability. Nicollò Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes, two philosophers from the sixteenth and seventeenth century respectively, each have their own definitions of human nature and why human nature is always going to be a conflict and therefore lead to political instability. Human nature is an important concept to study when it comes to politics because if people know that there exists evil in man, such as being selfish, we can learn how to control it in order to create political stability. Hobbes declares that humans are selfish and only concerned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To become enemies is the conclusion Hobbes says, and then the men will fight and attempt to harm one another. Hobbes addresses such times as war. According to Hobbes, (Curley 2012, 76) Whatsoever therefore is consequent to a time of war, where every man is enemy to every man, the same consequent to the time wherein men live without other security than what their own strength and their own invention shall furnish them withal. In such condition there is no place for industry, because the fruit thereof is uncertain: and consequently no culture of the earth; no navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported by sea; no commodious building; no instruments of moving and removing such things as require much force; no knowledge of the face of the earth; no account of time; no arts; no letters; no society; and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. On the contrary, Machiavelli believes that man should look out for himself and no one else; he believes that men are only concerned with their own self interest anyways. Human nature is a concept that Machiavelli really mocks in a sense in that he sets guidelines in exactly what a prince needs to be in order to be successful. • 11. Revocable Trust Essay Revocable Trusts Perhaps the greatest advantage of setting up a revocable trust is avoiding the probate process. A trust is especially beneficial if you own real estate in more than one state. Without a trust, your loved ones will be faced with probate proceedings in each state you own property in. A trust accomplishes the distribution of assets to your beneficiaries who should receive them. However, a trust is generally considered to possess superior advantages over a probate for several reasons. A trust provides a private, non probate administration. A trust doesn t require being filed with the court, so there is no file for anyone to see. Drawbacks Initially, it will cost more to set up a revocable trust than to write a Last Will and Testament. However, in the long run a trust will reduce stress and your family will save money by avoiding probate when you die, and guardianship if you were to become incapacitated or disabled. Unfortunately, you will still need a will, a special one to cover unfunded assets. If you miss an asset, or die before transferring all your assets into the trust a special will created for this situation will protect them. The will requires probating, but will only cover the unfunded assets. Nevertheless, it is a consideration when your still in the decision process of whether or not to establish a revocable trust. Contesting a trust may allow a longer period of time than a will. • 12. Lolita Essay De victimizing Lolita: Removing Emotion from the Classroom Abstract: This paper focuses on Vladimir Nabokov s novel Lolita. Specifically the argument discusses the need for reform within the classroom setting regarding student reaction and interpretation to the text. Class discussion involving Lolita tends to fall under a blanket of socially constructed presumptions that lend the discussion toward a shallow and judgmental reading of the text, and this tendency limits the discussion. This paper argues that, for a teacher attempting to teach this novel, it is important to limit the amount of emotionally reactionary responses and guide the class towards a more allegorical or symbolic representation of the text. However, when I found myself again discussing Lolita with this same narrow approach in my graduate class, I began to wonder if the majority of readers only focused on Humbert Humbert s transgressions. Had the rest of the world missed the point? Could no one recognize the genius behind the monster? Is it possible for the average reader to grasp the ironic intentions of the author, or is Lolita forever overshadowed by the reader s need to judge and dismiss? Too often Lolita is read from only one perspective, the perspective of monstrosity. Nabokov the pornographer threatened to expose and corrupt others, particularly children, through the publication of a novel about unnatural desire (Whiting 835). The tendency is for the average reader to become entangled in a moral debate, to take opposition to the seemingly criminal and amoral acts of the narrator, to condemn him for his blatant and grotesque sin. This surface analysis of the text was prevalent at the time of publication, delaying the release of the novel in the United States by three years. Most reviews of the novel [Lolita] dealt with the narrow issue of its alleged obscenity. The novel was published three years earlier in France because Nabokov could not find an American publisher ready to risk publishing it (Tamir Ghez 65). Soy, in and of itself, is toxic to the human body unless cooked thoroughly and properly. There are several side affects of soy consumption, but the one I will be discussing is cancer. The miracle cure for cancer is said to be soy protein and isoflavone supplements. Cancer rates are at an all time high, and the disease is the second leading cause of mortality in the United States. The First Clinical Experience Of A Nurse Essay The First Clinical Experience On an early morning in April, my friends and I arrived 45 minutes early to our long term care facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. The three of us anxiously awaited stepping foot into the care facility as we had no idea what was to come. I began to wonder what the patients would be like and how I would care for them. Consequently, I could feel my heart pounding as I was afraid of hurting the residents and not promoting healing from their ailments. I didn t know what illnesses or diseases would place individuals in the healthcare unit in the facility. That terrified me. I wanted to know everything I could about the residents prior to stepping foot in the building, but that knowledge wasn t attainable. While trying to process my fears, I was thinking of the quote from Maya Angelou that says, As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel. This lack of knowledge scared me; however, I knew that regardless of what placed the residents on the unit, I would care for them with respect and compassion. • 24. Aerobic Respiration And Aerobic Respiration Aerobic respiration, also known as cellular respiration, is an essential process for the production of ATP and occurs in 3 metabolic stages. The stages included are glycolysis, the Kreb s cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation. Throughout the whole process, glucose or various other saccharides are broken down, producing CO2, ATP, NADH, Pyruvate, and FADH2. Aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration are very similar, the only difference is the final electron acceptor, as Aerobic respiration involves oxygen. In order to study and detect how much cellular respiration occurs in an organism, the amount of glucose used, the amount of oxygen consumed, or the amount of CO2 given off can be measured. Bread, wine, and beer are all made from yeast. Yeast must go through cellular respiration and produce CO2 in order for the bread to rise and form properly; however, different monosaccharides may affect the level of CO2, measured in mL, given off by Saccharomyces cerevisiae (found in yeast), while affecting yeast s ability to metabolize during glycolysis. Durham tubes (a sealed, cut off 5 mL, pipette) can be used to measure the amount of CO2 produced as the yeast metabolizes. The approached used was to test the level of CO2 (mL) production, after different solutions with 1.5 mL of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and 4.5 mL and either 1M of glucose, fructose, or galactose go through cellular respiration. The higher level of CO2 produced indicates the more cellular respiration that took place. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Lack Of Marginal Utility Theory Suppliers might have to do a market research in order to forecast the consumer behaviour. To do this efficiently, firms might use marginal utility theory, namely principle of diminishing marginal utility together with indifference analysis. Utility is the satisfaction that people earn from the consumption of a certain quantity of a product (Mankiw and Taylor, 2014). Marginal utility is the additional satisfaction that customer gains from consuming one extra unit within a given period of time. However, the more of a product a person consumes, the less additional utility they are able to gain from that extra unit. Understanding this situation, economists come up with indifference analysis. Indifference analysis shows how consumer chooses the combination between two goods but still obtains the same satisfaction and indifference curve is the graph which illustrates that combination. It means, at any points on indifference curve, the consumer is indifferent about how to combine the two goods. Diagrammatically, if a person chooses 6 units of good Y with 2 units of good X, his utility will not be different from choosing 4 units of Y with 3 units of X, as long as those points are still on the curve. Most indifference curves have a convex shape and the reason is this. The lower units of good Y, the bigger quantity of good X in order to satisfy the loss of good Y. Nevertheless, the amount of giving up one of these two good cannot be the same. In other words, if the one of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maistre In Canterbury Tales The lack of literacy and the church s tremendous power during the Middle Ages resulted in a chain of being ; the order was established by the church and only emphasized the patriarchal society of the time. During the late fourteenth century, Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales, a collection of individual stories that included The Wife of Bath. The last stanza of The Wife of Bath s Prologue culminates the Wife s argument that the concept of maistre should rest in the hands of the female partner in order to balance the unequal footing created by the chain of being. The concept of maistre is defined as the sovereignty in a marriage, that is, whichever partner has the maistre has the power in a union. The passage takes place after the confrontation between the Wife of Bath and her fifth husband, Janekin. After such a brutal physical fight, they reconcile at last with muchel care and wo (817). Chaucer s use of the word care characterizes the actions of the two as timid and tender; the two tip toe around the other. The Wife loves Janekin so much that she appointed him maister of my body and of my good, (320) which granted him full maistre. Janekin reinforced his power over his wife by refraining from satisfying her sexual desires.
