Teaching As A Brilliant Lesson Essay
In the past I thought that teaching a brilliant lesson would help students to learn, but I have gradually
realised that didactic teaching has little or no impact on the majority of our students. It is a sad truism
that a significant number of our students are uninterested and resistant to learning, possibly due to
their own previous experiences, peer pressure and the nature of influences outside of the classroom.
My concern as a teacher of these students has been to identify strategies that can be used to facilitate
their learning, improve their self confidence and persuade them that learning is something worthwhile
for them.
One of the implicit aims of our school is to increase the aspirations of our students; to help them
obtain the qualifications they need to achieve their life goals and so help them and their families
improve their life chances (see appendix 1). So given that our aim is to increase the aspirations of our
students; to help them obtain the qualifications they need to achieve their life goals ; the question we
must ask is how can we do this ?
I am increasing drawn to the ideas of Vygotsky (Fisher, 2005: 210; Minton, 2012: 15 17) who in the
1960s, along with others, challenged the notion of inborn intelligence prevalent up to the 1950s,
leading to the still evolving idea that we all can grow in intelligence by improving our cognitive and
meta cognitive skills, learning how to learn (Fisher, 2005: 210). As a result of scientists describing

This phenomenal change in the international environment in which business is conducted has resulted
in increased levels of foreign direct investment by companies from developed countries in lesser
developed economies such as the Third World as economic benefits were sought through the
globalization of production as well as markets. (Hill 2011, p.5)
With the benefits being widely seen to outweigh the disadvantages smaller companies are looking for
the arrangements internationally that would best serve their interests of growth and expansion with
companies from lesser developed countries now also looking to capitalize as well by creating
synergies at the basic level by expanding their market horizons overseas, penetrating first and
expanding as demand and relationships develop. This shift in the world economy towards greater
integration and interdependence is one way of describing Globalization (Hill 2011, p.7).
Globalization can be seen as the increase of functional integration between internationally dispersed
economic activities, which is quite recent, as opposed to the older phenomenon of Internationalization

Assignment 3 Feedback Assignment
Hello,
To begin with, I received my Assignment 3 feedback yesterday and I am very happy with the
feedback/grade I received. The grade itself was higher than that of the previous assignment which
made me feel good as it shows I am slowly improving in certain aspects of my writing. I still need to
work on my comma usage, review subject verb agreement and review topic sentences for a summary
paragraph. Next, I would like to talk about sentence variety, which I mentioned in my last post. This
time, I used a variety of sentences in my writing and it really made a difference in the tone and flow of
the paragraph, so I believe I ve grasped how to use sentence variety effectively. I would also like to
talk about MLA formatting, which I also mentioned

Snow Falling On Cedars Book Report
David Guterson, author of Snow Falling on Cedars, was born on May 4th, 1956 in Seattle Washington.
Guterson had a good childhood. He attended Seattle Public Schools and later attended Roosevelt High
School. Guterson s father, Murray Guterson, was a criminal defense lawyer. Guterson would often sit
in on his father s trials, enjoying how lively the conversations were. However, Gutterson decided that
he wanted to take a different path than his father.
In 1974, Gutterson started attending the University of Washington. Guterson was not a good student in
high school, but when he started college he decided that he had a second chance as a student and
needed to put some effort into his school life. To become more serious in school, Guterson joined ...

After the success of his first book, Guterson credited Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird as his
inspiration. Guterson wrote to Lee, asking her to attend the PEN/Faulkner award ceremony. However,
because of her private nature, she declined his offer. In 1999, Snow Falling on Cedars was adapted to
film. The film was directed by Scott Hicks and starred Ethan Hawke. The film had positive reviews
and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Cinematography. In 2007, Guterson s novel was
adapted to stage by Kevin McKeon. Since Snow Falling on Cedars, Gutner has written other novels.
In 1998, Gutner released his second novel, East of the Mountains, which had many positive reviews.
Other novels include Our Lady of the Forest (2003), The Other (2008), and Ed King (2011).
Guterson currently lives on Bainbridge Island with his wife, Robin, and five children. Guterson and
his wife believe in homeschooling and wrote the book Family Matters: Why Homeschooling Makes
Sense. Guterson argues that homeschooling is not only for granola heads and states that parents are
natural teachers . Guterson is the co founder of Field s End. Field s End is a writing community on
Bainbridge Island that offers lectures, workshops, and conferences for aspiring writers. After the
success of his first book, Guterson was able to quit his teaching job at Bainbridge High School after

What Really Happened In Roswell, New Mexico
What Really Happened in Roswell
Introduction
When people hear the name Roswell, they do not think of a desert town known for livestock, cotton,
petroleum, and natural gas. Instead, they immediately think of UFOs and government cover ups.
When I first heard about the Roswell UFO incident I remember feeling both frightened by the idea of
space aliens and at the same time excited that there could be other intelligent life in the universe. I
wanted to explore and come to my own conclusions about the event that happened in Roswell, New
Mexico, in 1947. Did aliens truly visit Roswell and was there a massive government cover up of this
visitation?

The Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS) and the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), two major UFO
societies, disagreed on views of the various scenarios, theories, explanations that were presented by
Randle and Schmitt and were presented by Friedman and Berliner. Hundreds of people were
interviewed by the various researchers, but people point out that only a few of the people who were
interviewed claimed to have seen debris or aliens. Most witnesses were repeating the claims and
stories of others (Wikipedia 2.3.1). Of the 90 people who were interviewed for the book The Roswell
Incident, by Charles Berlitz, the testimony of only 25 people appears in the book, and only seven
people saw the debris and five handled the debris. Pflock, in the book Roswell: Inconvenient Facts
and the Will to Believe, makes a similar point about Randle and Schmitt s book UFO Crash at
Roswell. Approximately 271 people are listed in the book who were interviewed and this number does
not include those who chose to remain anonymous. Overall more than 300 witnesses were
interviewed. Of these 300 individuals, only 41 can be considered first or second hand witnesses to the
events at Roswell or at the Fort Worth Army Air Field, and only 23 can be thought to have seen debris
recovered from Ranch. Of these, only seven have asserted anything

Weapons Of Mass Destruction Essay
In the text weapons of mass destruction refers to materials, weapons, or devices that are intended to
cause death or serious bodily injury to a significant number of people (page 711, para. 3,4). In 1939,
Albert Einstein s Letter to President Roosevelt mentioned that the work of scientists E. Fermi and L.
Szilard led him to expect that uranium may be turned into a source of energy in the immediate future
(Page 1, para. 1). Einstein knew how powerful uranium was and how a very large amount of it could
set up a nuclear chain reaction. He knew that if in case this did happen he wanted the president to be
well prepared for the outcome. Einstein argued that weapons of mass destruction required a lot of
attention and if they are going to be initiated then the following steps should be followed: a person
who is confident and trustworthy should keep the government updated with further development and
put forward recommendations for government action, particularly the secure supply of uranium (Page
2, para. 6). Secondly, this person should also speed up work by making sure funds are provided and
also that they have the necessary equipment needed for completion (page 2, para. 7)
In the Draft of Press Release Announcing the Use of the Atomic Bomb in 1945, Stimson argued that
he believed dropping the bomb would force japan to surrender on terms acceptable to the United
States. He quotes It was to spare the Japanese people from utter destruction that the ultimatum of July

With the AfterBuzz for When Calls the Heart, we don t have any commercials. It s one of the general
principles that Keven and Maria believe in. One of our basic rules at AfterBuzz is that we never have
fans pay for the content. The content is all free. But it does cost a pretty penny to keep these studios
running and keep the lights going and the staff and engineers that are needed. We have what we call

Social And Social Changes In Japan During The Tokugawa Period
Firstly, Japan s political structure was transformed to really large extent during the Meiji era as it
brought about changes such as in the manner of governing the people, parliament structure as well as
the reform in policies that the Japanese were forced to sign with the Western powers such as the
United States of America and Great Britain. During the Tokugawa period the Emperor Meiji limited
the power of the samurai removing exclusive rights such as their right to punish commoners and he
also removed their right to be the only armed force in Japan, in favour of westernized military with
several different armed sections. In addition, the Emperor sent scholars to Britain, France and
Germany to study their parliament as well as study the way these Western nations operated.
Eventually the Emperor appointed Ito Hirobumi to select an adequate constitution for the new empire
of Japan. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Education was a main social system that changed during modernization. In the Edo period, school was
only for children of people in higher classes. Now it was mandatory for all children to take. In 1871,
the Japanese government established a Ministry of Education. It was designed to break down class
identities which helped raise the standard of living in Japan. In 1884 an important man named Mori
Arinori became the Minister of Education for Japan. He restructured the school system which stayed
in place for sixty years. As well, he established the Imperial University which was later renamed the

government taught values such as national identity and loyalty to the Emperor. This helped unite

Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism
In ancient China, many different rulers tried to unify and rule the country using a variety of methods
Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism to name a few. Each philosophy had its own set of rules of how
people should act both in public and privately. The overall goal of each philosophy was to set a
standard of acceptable living that would ensure harmony and success for the society. However, each
was different and thus had different results. The best way for the people of China to succeed in a
harmonious, respectable society occurred when both Confucianism and Legalism were combined.
Confucianism resulted from a Chinese philosopher named Kongfuzi (551 479 B.C.E), also known as
Confucius, becoming disheartened with the way the government ... Show more content on

If there is dissent and it is not dealt with using corrective measures, then the government, and thereby
society, will fall apart. One such example of this can be found in the Han Feizi document. It says, The
law alone leads to political order. If laws are adjusted to the time, there is good government. If
government fits the age, there will be great accomplishment. Therefore, when the people are naïve, if
you regulate them with fame, there will be good government; when everybody in the world is
intelligent, if you discipline them with penalties, they will obey. While time is moving on, if laws do
not shift accordingly, there will be misrule; while abilities are divers, if prohibitions are not changed,
the state will be dismembered...Indeed, if the state is orderly, the people are safe; if affairs are
confused, the country falls into peril...Yet everybody s likes and dislikes should be regulated by the
superior.
It is no surprise that the philosophy of legalism did not last long. Once the emperor died, people began
to dissent and voice their opinions of being treated in such a manner. The next emperor, Emperor
Gaozu of the Early Han Dynasty, determined that by combining Confucianism and Legalism would
ensure a more accepted and obeyed political system. By allowing the people to follow certain rules
that prescribed their status obligations while altering the laws created by Legalism, the society ran
more smoothly for

Horace Mann Influence On American Education

Despite the risks, many of the locals enlist, seduced by the high pay off two grand per driver. This is
an absolute fortune to them, and the money is viewed by some as the only means out of their hopeless
lives. The pool of candidates is thinned down to four drivers: Mario, Bimba, and Luigi are taken,
along with a man named Smirnoff. However, he fails to emerge on the designated day, so Jo, who
knows O Brien from his unlawful days, is replaced in his absence. The other drivers assume that Jo
assassinated Smirnoff to aid in his private hiring.
Jo and Mario move the nitroglycerin in one vehicle; Bimba and Luigi in the other, with thirty minutes
parting them to limit possible losses. The drivers are made to deal with a string of physical and mental
hindrances, including a stretch of notably rugged road called the washboard, a construction barrier that
requires them to wobble around a rotten platform above a mountain, and a boulder obstructing the
road. Jo discovers that his nerves are not what they used to be, and the others confront Jo about his
growing weakness. Finally, Luigi and Bimba s truck detonates without warning, annihilating them

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Analysis
The Myers Briggs type indicator is a personality test used to make the psychological types described
by C.G. Jung more understandable and relevant to people s lives. The personality test shows that
random deviations in behavior are essentially not so random at all, but how people use their perception
and judgment. There are sixteen, distinctive personality types, that can result from the choices of
preferences. (Foundation, The Myers Briggs) According to theory, by definition, one pole of each of
the four preferences is preferred over the other pole for each of the sixteen MBTI types. The
preferences on each index are independent of preferences for the other three indices so that the four
indices yield sixteen possible combinations called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Graphic Incognito Analysis
According to article Graphic Incognito , writer Mark Owens says that modernism exported to America
through Bauhaus, which was a European movement that came around World War 2. The movement in
America took shape in the 1980s with the influence of a new cultural era that was personified in
different mediums, especially in music. He argues that certain modernist design tactics were adopted
by suburban kids raised during the Reagan era in the early 1980s that were in the post punk, hardcore,
underground music scene. First of all, he begins his essay with a quote from Paul Rand about how
timeless principles were the only hope to achieve a style of quality in one s work. In this essay, Mark
Owens collocate the theoretical principals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Social Inequality In Eugene Onegin
The novel Eugene Onegin by Alexander Pushkin is set within the Russian high society of the early
19th century. In this society contains various conventions, including attending the extravagant balls
that one is invited to, the expectation of marriage, and the ability to duel others to protect one s
honour. Eugene Onegin chooses not to conform to many of these societal expectations, a choice that is
detrimental to his social image. Despite this, he is concerned about maintaining his masculinity, which
drives him to follow a limited set of norms. Eugene Onegin s rejection of social standards of Russian
high society is rooted in how many social activities were done to be up to date with the latest trends as
opposed to their intrinsic entertainment value. Throughout the first chapter, Pushkin gives insight into
the routine social life that members of the high society must keep, through following the day in a life
of Onegin. When Pushkin describes how the chime and watch alert them (I.17) to attend the new
ballet in town, there is a feeling of obligation in that Onegin must attend this ballet in order to be with
the trend. This is further emphasized by the fact that he does not attend the ballet for its entire
duration, and that he explicitly expresses his boredom by saying, It s time for something new ... I ve
suffered ballets long enough, / But now Didelot is boring stuff (I.21). It is evident that Onegin is not at
the ballet to be entertained, but rather because he is

The Dome of the Rock is among the largest Islamic shrines that are located in Jerusalem. Built almost
thirteen centuries ago, this shrine remains one of the most gorgeous and treasured architectural

Bonding Chemical Properties
The overall purpose of this lab was to see how bonding effects chemical and physical properties. The
lab consisted of 6 compounds Dodecanoic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Duodecose, Octadecanoic Acid,
Potassium Bromide and Amylose. Using these compounds, tests were conducted on their appearance,
solubility in distilled water, conductivity and melting point. There are 3 groups these compounds can
be organized into. One group is Dodecanoic Acid and Stearic Acid. Another group is Duodecose and
Amylose and the last group is Sodium Chloride and Potassium Bromide. These compounds are put
into these groups because of their similar structures and properties. Dodecanoic Acid and
Octadecanoic Acid are in the same group because they are both made up long chains of carbon and
carboxyl groups, and are non polar covalent bonds. In non polar covalent bonds electrons are shared
equally, and held together by atoms. Both Dodecanoic Acid and Octadecanoic are made up of carbon,
hydrogen and oxygen. The data shows they are insoluble, this is because of their long chains of
carbon, and a carboxyl group (COOH) at the end causes them to have increasing hydrophobic which
decreases their solubility in water. The data also shows they are poor electrical ... Show more content

Since their establishments, many universities in the United States of America, as well as elsewhere in
the world, have grown the diversity of their student populations in more than several aspects including
religious diversity. Albeit presented obstacles, this growth represents values of tolerance and freedom

collegiate institution such as the University of Southern California (USC) boasts its diversity through
admittance of students from countries all over the world; in fact, it holds more international students

USC has a religious diversity that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pope John 23 Research Paper
Pope John XXIII was one of the most influential Popes the Catholic Church had in the 20th century,
and perhaps one of the most important in its history. What he was able to do for the Church in his
short amount of time holding the Papacy was incredible. Originally seen as a transitional Pope, John
XXIII was certainly much more than that. His work in connecting with those of different
denominations of Christianity, as well as those of different faiths, has been instrumental to this day.
And, most of all, his call for the Vatican Council II was paramount for the modernization of the
church. Because of this, this paper will show that Pope John XXIII was important to the history of the

How Does Upton Sinclair Use Socialism In The Jungle
Upton Sinclair published his novel, The Jungle, in 1906 using elements of naturalistic fiction, with the
idea that ordinary people cannot overcome the system, to convey his political agenda. He did this by
writing about a fictional family that comes to Chicago from Lithuania with the promise of guaranteed
work where they might earn three roubles a day and be rich m[en] in the bargain (Sinclair 24 25). He
used the meatpacking industry to show the extreme affects a large scale industry can have on an
individual and on a family and to draw sympathy from the reader for typical families in capitalist
America, choosing to focus on the immigrant experience. The Jungle, however, not only describes the
horrific working conditions and the failures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The hard drive is an inbuilt type of non volatile memory which is connected to the motherboard. It is
made up of a disk, a read/write head, a landing tray, a spindle, disk platters, a debris filter, head disk
assembly and actuators. The disk spins between 2,500 and 10,000 RPM (Rotations Per Minute) which;
alongside the amount of memory cache; affects the speed of the hard drive. You can also get an
external hard drive which connects to the computer as well which provides extra memory for the

RAM can cost on average anywhere between £25 and £150. Input devices
Digital Camera
A digital camera is a device which is used to take pictures and stores the images digitally. The images
are stored on a flash drive and can be moved to a computer via a memory card or a USB cable. A
digital camera costs under £100 for a low quality camera or £250 and above for a higher quality, more
professional camera. Graphics tablet
A graphics tablet is used as an alternative to the widely used mouse. It is preferred by digital artists
who require the detail that the average mouse cannot provide. This is as the tablet is easier to draw on
due to the more natural position used when using it as well as the tablet provides pressure detection
which the mouse does not. The graphics tablet costs around £50 for a small size and around £300 for a
larger and better quality tablet. Pointing device
A pointing device (typically a mouse or a trackball) is a device that aids the user in the general use of a
computer. Whilst it is not important in the basic use of computers it is needed when working with
digital graphics as the use of a pointing device means that you can edit images and move anything
without issue. The average mouse costs around £10 and below. A trackball costs slightly more with an

Sigmund Freud s Theory Of Personality, Cognitive...
Sigmund Freud; 1856 1939, an Austrian doctor was one of the pioneers in studying the nature of
personality, cognitive development, and infancy, and also remarked how important the first years of
the individual s life are for future development of the mentioned characteristics (Coon Mitterer, 2012).
According to John W. Satrock behavior; as part of the psychoanalitic theories, is merely a surface
characteristic and a true and deep understanding of development is require to analize the symbolic
meaning of behavior and the deep inner workings of the mind, and as an example, how early
experiences with parents extensively shape development in diferent areas (Santrock, 2011). Doctor
Freud believed that all thoughts, emotions, and actions, are determined. In other words, nothing is an
accident: If we probe deeply enough we will find the causes of every thought or action. He also
believed that unconscious processes (not external stimuli) were responsible. In addition, Freud
theorized that the core of personality is formed before age 6 and a series of psychosexual stages, and
believed that erotic urges in childhood have lasting effects on development (Coon Mitterer, 2012)
Then, Freud formed five psychosexual stages; the oral, anal, latency, and genital. At each stage a
different part of the body becomes a child s primary erogenous zone, and each area serves a main
source of pleasure, frustration, and self expression. He assumed that many adult personality traits

Igm Memory Populations
For my experiment, I will be exploring the question of what is the ontogeny, or origination and
development, of IgM memory cells that exist within a mouse. In regards to ontogeny, a more distinct
question that can be asked is what B cell subset are the memory cells developed from, whether it is
marginal zone, follicular, or B 1 cells within the organism. My hypothesis is that the B 1 B cells give
rise to the IgM memory population in mice infected with E. muris, a population that is independent of
T cell help and activation. Previous experiments have analyzed the bridge between basic immunity
and infectious disease. The infectious disease of our interest is that transmitted by ehrlichia, which has
the ability to cause a bacterial infection within an organism. These tick borne pathogens generate an
immune response within the infected organism. While it is the short term immunity process that
allows for the organism to defend itself against the pathogen, it is long term production of immune
system cells that protect the organism against potential future encounters. IgM mediated immunity is
developed over the course of an infection and previous work shows that it remains in the system to
help fight off future infections. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

CD11c. While these cells have been labeled, it has yet to be determined what B cell lineage is giving

This cell surface marker of CD11c will allow us to distinguish the IgM memory population within our
mice, from other populations of cells that are produced by the immune system during its response to
the foreign antigen. Another indicator that will allow for us to know which cells are those that have
been transferred is through the use of a fluorescent tag known as enhanced yellow fluorescent protein

The Intertropical Convergence Zone Plays a Large Role in...
The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is a permanent low pressure feature that lies on the
meteorological equator. It is characterisied by lots of cloud cover and precipitation (Andrews et al.,
2003). The ITCZ plays a significant role in the climate and weather events in the tropics. The clouds
created by the ITCZ also provide an important form of albedo in the tropics (Waliser and Gautier,
1993),which has an effect on global climate. Tropical events such as monsoon and cyclones occur in
the ITCZ and are products of the unique convection system found around the ITCZ (Yancheva et al.,
2007, Ferreira and Schubert, 1997).The ITCZ is a product of humid trade winds from the northern and
southern hemisphere converging and then rising. This rising of humid air usually results in
precipitation over the tropics(Waliser and Somerville, 1994). This rising of the humid air acts as the
driving force in the Hadley Cell (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ is a product of high levels
of solar radiation and high amounts of latent heat released from the ocean (Andrews et al., 2003). It is
important to realize that the ITCZ moves throughout the year depending on the seasons, it is likely to
be found in the southern hemisphere in the southern hemisphere summer and in the northern
hemisphere during the northern hemispheres summer. However the ITCZ is more likely to be found in
the Northern hemisphere (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ plays a large role in many of the

While many rights were now theirs, one common, significant change was that slave families ... could
now live together (Foner 7). Blacks could now join together and work toward a better future, just like
all other Americans could.
Because of the active participation of the federal government, laws were passed so that former slaves
could enjoy the benefits of the freedom just awarded to them. In South Carolina, blacks demanded
access to all the opportunities and privileges enjoyed by whites (14). Black delegations in North
Carolina, Alabama, Virginia and Tennessee all struggled to secure blacks a modicum of justice in the
local courts (15). Schools were set up to educate the former slaves. Laws were passed that extended
the rights of property ownership and the vote. Businesses were started and churches were built. All of
the rights enjoyed by all other Americans were finally beginning to be enjoyed by these former slaves.
But these gains were temporary.

German composer Johannes Brahms wrote this song back in 1880. Johannes Brahms was born in
Hamburg, Germany in 1833 (Johannes Brahms Biography). Brahms was introduced to music at seven
years old (Johannes Brahms Biography). In 1853 Robert Schumann was one of the most well known
musical composer and critic during this period (Johannes Brahms Biography). He credited Brahms as
being a musical genius and thus, Brahms became well known (Johannes Brahms Biography).
Johannes Brahms was known to being a great master of the symphonic and sonata style during the
romantic period (Simpson). Brahms is best known for his ability to vary his movement throughout his
pieces (Geiringer). Brahms also tried to modernize his music at the time (Geiringer). When Brahms
composed Academic Festival Overture, he was towards the end of his career (Simpson). Johannes
Brahms wrote this song because the University of Breslau gave Brahms an honorary doctorate in
music (Schwarm). Brahms was flattered so he thanked the university, but according to a friend, the
university wanted Brahms to write a music composition for the university (Schwarm). Therefore,
Johannes Brahms began to compose the song. Brahms received some of the inspiration for the song

also known by her epithet grey eyed goddess (Homer.1.63). Athena makes an impact on the epic by
aiding Odysseus with help throughout his journey and supporting Telemachus finding his father.
First Athena aids Odysseus with help in diminutive ways that end up impacting the epic s storyline.
When the epic starts, Athena is having a conversation with Zeus. While conversing with Zeus, Athena
mentions Odysseus by saying O Majesty, O Father of us all/ if it now please the blissful gods/ that

The Golden Age And The Golden Age
I have found myself thinking back to the first grade when comparing my time in that period of my life
to the golden age. In the first grade I relied on people more than ever for the basic necessities that I
needed at that time. I was sent to Bancroft Elementary School and it is located in Andover,
Massachusetts. At this point I was somewhat unknowingly guided through the first grade and it ended
up sharing many similarities with the golden age. The golden age is when man did not have to worry
about what is needed in the basic human life, this includes fighting, food, shelter, and justice. In this
young grade I recall vividly of not having a worry for any necessities that play a key part in everyday
life. When I was told to go to lunch I ended up eating the food given, but I was knowledgeable on how
it got on my plate; moreover, there seemed to be peace and a lack of physical violence throughout the
grade. This thought of having peace, food, little work, and having a roof over your head in the first
grade shares many similarities with what man experienced in the golden age.
In the first grade I did not understand the idea where justice and peace develops from; however,
reflecting on this now I can understand how this is something that I would have found to be
insignificant while being in the first grade. When I went to the first grade the safety protocols were not
as commonly practiced as they are current day. I had felt a sense of safety even though I may not have

Communism In America
In the words of Abraham Lincoln, Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.
Freedom has been a topic of many meetings of Congress over the past few centuries, as it is one of the
main American ideals that formed our great nation. However, in the last seventy years, there have
been many attacks upon the American people that instill fear in the hearts of many. Fear in a large
group of people leads to rash decisions that could eventually precipitate the loss of the common man s
freedom. Losing freedom due to fear shies away from all of the traditional American ideals of our
forefathers, one of which was opportunity and freedom of the common man. In the late 1940s and the
early 1950s, United States citizens were left in tumult when they caught wind of the impending
shadow of communism. This was the Red Scare, a period of time many people today use when

In 1939, Albert Einstein s Letter to President Roosevelt mentioned that the work of scientists E. Fermi and L. Secondly, this person should also speed up work by making sure funds are provided and also that they have the necessary equipment needed for completion (page 2, para. 7) In the Draft of Press Release Announcing the Use of the Atomic Bomb in 1945, Stimson argued that he believed dropping the bomb would force japan to surrender on terms acceptable to the United States. Eugene Onegin s rejection of social standards of Russian high society is rooted in how many social activities were done to be up to date with the latest trends as opposed to their intrinsic entertainment value. Throughout the first chapter, Pushkin gives insight into the routine social life that members of the high society must keep, through following the day in a life of Onegin. When Pushkin describes how the chime and watch alert them (I.17) to attend the new ballet in town, there is a feeling of obligation in that Onegin must attend this ballet in order to be with the trend. This is further emphasized by the fact that he does not attend the ballet for its entire duration, and that he explicitly expresses his boredom by saying, It s time for something new ... I ve suffered ballets long enough, / But now Didelot is boring stuff (I.21). It is evident that Onegin is not at the ballet to be entertained, but rather because he is ... To the Jewish, this rock was the very spot where Abraham was meant to sacrifice Isaac, his son. Besides, the shrine is believed to stand at the spot of the Holy of Hollies of Herod s Temple and Solomon s Temple (Grabar 59). Physical, Psychological and Sexual abuse has been presented in multiple settings as harmful and dangerous. When these things happen, unfortunately the victim is largely blamed and asked questions based on if they meant for what happened to them, as a direct action to inflict pain towards themselves. As is true, multiple cases of the described forms of abuse are reported almost half of the cases are dropped due to the withdraw from victims. The lab consisted of 6 compounds Dodecanoic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Duodecose, Octadecanoic Acid, Potassium Bromide and Amylose. Using these compounds, tests were conducted on their appearance, solubility in distilled water, conductivity and melting point. There are 3 groups these compounds can be organized into. One group is Dodecanoic Acid and Stearic Acid. Another group is Duodecose and Amylose and the last group is Sodium Chloride and Potassium Bromide. These compounds are put into these groups because of their similar structures and properties. Dodecanoic Acid and Octadecanoic Acid are in the same group because they are both made up long chains of carbon and carboxyl groups, and are non polar covalent bonds. In non polar covalent bonds electrons are shared equally, and held together by atoms. Both Dodecanoic Acid and Octadecanoic are made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. The data shows they are insoluble, this is because of their long chains of carbon, and a carboxyl group (COOH) at the end causes them to have increasing hydrophobic which decreases their solubility in water. His work in connecting with those of different denominations of Christianity, as well as those of different faiths, has been instrumental to this day. Sigmund Freud; 1856 1939, an Austrian doctor was one of the pioneers in studying the nature of personality, cognitive development, and infancy, and also remarked how important the first years of the individual s life are for future development of the mentioned characteristics (Coon Mitterer, 2012). According to John W. Satrock behavior; as part of the psychoanalitic theories, is merely a surface characteristic and a true and deep understanding of development is require to analize the symbolic meaning of behavior and the deep inner workings of the mind, and as an example, how early experiences with parents extensively shape development in diferent areas (Santrock, 2011). Doctor Freud believed that all thoughts, emotions, and actions, are determined. In other words, nothing is an accident: If we probe deeply enough we will find the causes of every thought or action. He also believed that unconscious processes (not external stimuli) were responsible. In addition, Freud theorized that the core of personality is formed before age 6 and a series of psychosexual stages, and believed that erotic urges in childhood have lasting effects on development (Coon Mitterer, 2012) Then, Freud formed five psychosexual stages; the oral, anal, latency, and genital. • 33. Igm Memory Populations For my experiment, I will be exploring the question of what is the ontogeny, or origination and development, of IgM memory cells that exist within a mouse. In regards to ontogeny, a more distinct question that can be asked is what B cell subset are the memory cells developed from, whether it is marginal zone, follicular, or B 1 cells within the organism. My hypothesis is that the B 1 B cells give rise to the IgM memory population in mice infected with E. muris, a population that is independent of T cell help and activation. Previous experiments have analyzed the bridge between basic immunity and infectious disease. The infectious disease of our interest is that transmitted by ehrlichia, which has the ability to cause a bacterial infection within an organism. These tick borne pathogens generate an immune response within the infected organism. While it is the short term immunity process that allows for the organism to defend itself against the pathogen, it is long term production of immune system cells that protect the organism against potential future encounters. IgM mediated immunity is developed over the course of an infection and previous work shows that it remains in the system to help fight off future infections. ... • 34. The Intertropical Convergence Zone Plays a Large Role in... The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is a permanent low pressure feature that lies on the meteorological equator. It is characterisied by lots of cloud cover and precipitation (Andrews et al., 2003). The ITCZ plays a significant role in the climate and weather events in the tropics. The clouds created by the ITCZ also provide an important form of albedo in the tropics (Waliser and Gautier, 1993),which has an effect on global climate. Tropical events such as monsoon and cyclones occur in the ITCZ and are products of the unique convection system found around the ITCZ (Yancheva et al., 2007, Ferreira and Schubert, 1997).The ITCZ is a product of humid trade winds from the northern and southern hemisphere converging and then rising. This rising of humid air usually results in precipitation over the tropics(Waliser and Somerville, 1994). This rising of the humid air acts as the driving force in the Hadley Cell (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ is a product of high levels of solar radiation and high amounts of latent heat released from the ocean (Andrews et al., 2003). It is important to realize that the ITCZ moves throughout the year depending on the seasons, it is likely to be found in the southern hemisphere in the southern hemisphere summer and in the northern hemisphere during the northern hemispheres summer. However the ITCZ is more likely to be found in the Northern hemisphere (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ plays a large role in many of the climatic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. The Golden Age And The Golden Age I have found myself thinking back to the first grade when comparing my time in that period of my life to the golden age. In the first grade I relied on people more than ever for the basic necessities that I needed at that time. I was sent to Bancroft Elementary School and it is located in Andover, Massachusetts. At this point I was somewhat unknowingly guided through the first grade and it ended up sharing many similarities with the golden age. The golden age is when man did not have to worry about what is needed in the basic human life, this includes fighting, food, shelter, and justice. In this young grade I recall vividly of not having a worry for any necessities that play a key part in everyday life. When I was told to go to lunch I ended up eating the food given, but I was knowledgeable on how it got on my plate; moreover, there seemed to be peace and a lack of physical violence throughout the grade. This thought of having peace, food, little work, and having a roof over your head in the first grade shares many similarities with what man experienced in the golden age. In the first grade I did not understand the idea where justice and peace develops from; however, reflecting on this now I can understand how this is something that I would have found to be insignificant while being in the first grade.
