The development of social media becomes more frequent in various parts of the world. It makes
the field of public relations experience changes both in the field of theory and practice. The
changes are not directly caused by the presence of social media, but social media offers many
opportunities for public relationspractitioners to interact with the public through the adaptation of
technology and integrate it into their daily activities (Curtis, 2010)
Social media is defined as the democratization of content and a shift in the role that made humans
in the process of reading and disseminating information. Social media covers a variety of things that
use internet to facilitate conversation (Solis, 2009). Social media is considered as the ... Show more

Research on the impact of new media on public relations has been conducted by various researchers
abroad, such as study by Wright Hinson. Wright Hinson (2010) in their study found that new
communication media have brought dramatic changes in various aspects in this field. This fact
gives a clear picture of how the field of public relations must have the readiness to be able to adapt
to changes in the new media not to get stuck on the use of traditional media that had given a
positive benefit. Further, Weber (Wright Hinson, 2010) suggests that the world of communications
is dramatically shifted towards the digital and anyone who understands this transformation will be
communicating more effectively than those who do not understand.
Various forms of social media like podcasts, blogging, and video iPod are considered effective for
communicating with stakeholder organizations, both public and private. They are able to reach a
broad audience in a personal and continuous way to make media has an important value (Wilcox,
2006).
One of the significant changes in the field of public relations which is clearly visible is on the
rules of old and new press releases. Scott (Wright Hinson, 2010) explains that in the old press
release, no party who sees press releases in addition to editors, reporters and there is only one way
to make a lot of parties learn the contents of the press release, which is when the media

Stereotypes Of The Traveler
TRAVELLER, TOURIST AND BACKPACKER The concept of the traveller is seen very
differently in comparrison to the tourist. Both have the same interest in being in another country
and experiencing another culture, but to what extent are they experiencing it in the same way?
The tourism industry has created these different types of categories of people who travel to
other countries that have evolved over hundreds of years. Modern travel has become more
affordable to people of all different backgrounds and with growing technology it has helped
create this booming economy that the whole world in some way benefits off of. In todays
society it is now more affordable and easier to reach another country compared to 100 years ago.
This has created both titles of the tourist and travller as the tourist has become a negative title to
carry as sterotypes on todays society have created a tarnished reputation of tourists. It is widely
talked about how the tourist and traveller have two different meanings, but are they really that
different? If so which title would fit the backpaper? As a traveller or tourist? This will be analysed
throughout so there can be an evaluation and judgement made to help find the answers to these
questions. THE TOURIST The toursit label comes with the stigma that they are loud, complain
and do not fully emerse themselves in the enviroment they are in. There are many stereotypes of a
tourist and for many people being seen as a tourist is a bad thing because of the

Analyzing Winckler s Family Guy
The analysis of the first episode of Family Guy is important in that, as Winckler puts it, the pilot
of any series is representative of the whole program (44). The general atmosphere, the characters
introduced, and a few catchphrases set the tone of the sitcom. Some cutaway gags appear, cultural
references are made and a few borderline jokes are told, thus categorizing the show as an adult
series. The pilot truly embodies these characteristics that will remain the hallmarks of the show. In
the case of Family Guy, the airing time also played a key role in the success of the sitcom, as the
pilot was first broadcast right after Super Bowl XXXIII. The plot was highly inspired by
MacFarlane s final university project called The Life of Larry, which... Show more content on

The first cutaway takes place at church, where the priest talks about the story of Job. The
French version inexplicably calls Job Joe , even though his story and other Bible references are
well known in French culture. God is seen being embarrassed by the story, a gag that works in
both languages quite well. When the priest tells Peter that the communion wine is indeed the
blood of the Christ, Peter says that Jesus must have been wasted 24 hours a day ; the adaptors
changed the sentence, possibly out of fear of offending viewers, to On peut me faire des
transfusions tous les jours ou c est trop demander? . The effect it has is similar but the original
does surprisingly not emphasize much Peter s alcoholism. In the next memory, Peter is seen eating
some buttered rum ice cream. In French, the ice cream flavor is changed to rhum raisin , a different
one yet equivalent in alcoholic effect. In the final cutaway, the family is seen watching Philadelphia
at the movie theater. After a while, Peter recognizes Tom Hanks from the comedy Big and thus
laughs at everything the actor says, including his confessing that he has AIDS. The joke
successfully transfers to French since Tom Hanks and his filmography are famous in French
culture, and the fact that Peter would laugh at such a serious matter categorizes him as

Hermes Accomplishments
Hermes was a god of fertility in Greek Mythology. He was especially concerned with the sheep
and goats raised by his principal worshippers, the people in Arcadia, Southern Greece. In ancient
poetry, Hermes functioned as a messenger of the gods. Hermes was also a guide for souls to the
underworld and for travelers. Also, he was a protector of boundaries; a helper of heralds,
speakers, traders, and thieves; and a bringer of good or unexpected luck. The Romans area
rumored to have invented Mercury as an equivalent to Hermes. He was also closely connected
with bringing dreams to mortals. Hermes is usually depicted with a broad brimmed hat or a
winged cap, winged sandals and the heralds staff. The offspring of Hermes are believed to be Pan,

He was born in a cave in Mount Cyllene, in Arcadia. Hermes grew miraculously fast, and soon after
being birthed he was able to walk out of the cave, kill a tortoise, and make the first lyre from its
shell. To finish the lyre Hermes needed string so he stole a herd of Apollos cows by making them
walk backwards so that it d confuse Apollo since the tracks would lead him in the wrong direction
and he killed them for the strings for the lyre which he made from their guts. After being caught by
Apollo he was brought before their father, Zeus. Instead of Zeus being angry at his infant son he
was amused, and when Hermes produced the lyre and played it, even Apollo was charmed and
offered the rest of his flock to Hermes in return for it. Apollo also gave Hermes his caduceus, a
herald s staff of gold.Hades instructed Hermes to lay the golden staff on the eyes of the dying and
lead them gently to the eyes of the dying. Some accounts say that Apollo taught Hermes how to
prophesy, Artemis taught him to hunt, and Pan taught him to play the pipes. Hermes was

Letter From Birmingham Jail Analysis
The source that I found most helpful for this project is The Letter from Birmingham Jail. I think
it is the best source because it is a primary source. Also because it explains what it was like to be
a civil rights activist. Lastly, the message that MLK was writing was very detailed and easy to
visualize. Everything in this passage was true and from an activist perspective. The second most
helpful source that I have found Is the Photographs. This source was very so helpful for many
different reasons. One of those reasons is because the images helped understand how bad
segregation actually was. I could understand that by breaking down what I could see in the pictures
and breaking it down. Another thing that the photographs helped me understand how big of a role

The last source that helped me during this presentation is 1963 Birmingham Civil Rights

What Role Does American Freedom Play In American Slavery,...
American Slavery, American Freedom is an American history novel written by Edmond Morgan.
This novel revolves around the theme of slavery and how it affected different parts of our
emerging country; specifically Virginia. As well as slavery, American Slavery, American Freedom
also focuses on slavery and freedom are united with the emergence of the colony of Virginia. It is
very often underestimated how important and influential slaverywas in our country. Morgan s
premise for writing the novel was not only to demonstrate the colonization of Virginia, but to also
make the connection as to how slavery played a role in this freedom. The first part of the book
focuses on the rapport between the Virginian settlers and the Indians who were located in the area.
As animosity grew between the Indians and the settlers, the settlers did not want to confide in the
Indians for anything or part of their colony. This lack of communication and trust between the
settlers and Indians caused the settlers to have a shortage of food because the settlers did not want
help from the Indians, but they also did not want to do the work themselves. The disorganization of
the colony lead to the king taking over control. After the king... Show more content on

Slavery became more and more profitable for the settlers of Virginia. As it became more popular
and the slaves were living longer, the abuse of slaves began to grow rapidly. Racism was
introduced in order to make the slaves seem different and abnormal from their slave holders. Slaves
were no allowed to be emancipated, baptized, have sexual relationships. In the end of the novel, the
author suggests that the slavery in Virginia eliminated the competition for land for the non wealthy
whites which increased the amount of non wealthy land owners. These poor whites now had
something in common with the wealthy whites; as they both now owned land which started the

Motivation For European Exploration In The 15th And 16th...
Exploration Essay European exploration wasn t only entirely based of one motivation in the 15th
and 16th century. Although many voyages of discovery were started in search of wealth, religion
was also a big reason for exploring other continents. Religion wasn t the main motivation for
European exploration in the 15th and 16th century. Instead, the main motivation was economic
motives, which was closely followed by religion, and to a lesser extent was technological
developments. The main motivation of European exploration was economic motives. People were
beginning to become more interested in traveling by sea to reach Asia and Africa and all their
riches(Duiker,494). The spice trade was what linked Europeto Asia, and the gold trade linked
Europe to Africa. Furthermore, in the 15th and 16th centuries, as the economy and purchasing
power of Europe developed and increased, the spice demand grew at a steady rate(Arnold,12).
Therefore, spices were one of the few things that made overseas trade possible. Europe did not
have very much gold to begin with, so ultimately the gold mines that they did possess were
emptied. After 1400, Europe started trading with the areas that produced gold, increasing their
amount of gold. Gold was very important to Europe, because not only was it used for decorations,
but also their currency. In 1500, Portugalwas controlling the flow of gold to Europe, making
Portugal much wealthier(Buckler,500). Eventually, slaves were included in the gold

Who s REALLY in CONTROL?
Do you feel like life is just spinning crazy around you?
That you just can t seem to shut your mind off?
It (your mind) runs off in a million different directions with all of things you HAVE to get done,
places you HAVE to go, stuff you FORGOT to DO, etc. Then one of these thoughts triggers a
worry or fear about health, aches and pains, money, family, work, the economy, global situations,
and so on and so on. Your mind becomes like a run away train with no one controlling the engine;
and just like the engine on that train your breath gets faster and shallower. The longer you let your
mind run out of control the harder it is to get under control.
Faster, Faster, Faster Worry, Worry, Worry Think, Think, Think!!!!!!
STOP! STOP STOP STOP!
Who s Really in Control? Your mind or YOU? Whose is running your train?
Well, I have some great NEWS for you. YOU ARE IN CONTROL. Not your Runaway mind!
You have the power to get that Run Away Train; your Run Away Mind under control.

Merriam Webster dictionary states that stewardship is; the conducting, supervising, or managing of
something; especially: the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one s
care. The temporal and spiritual stewardship, we all face is no different from the littlest toddler or
the oldest man or woman. Heavenly Father has spent the time to create the world and left it to our
care. Our responsibility to this earth, and to our Heavenly father is to protect and better what we

meaning the earth will eat this trash up in no time. What else will take some foreign object, break

Gun Control Debate Report
In the year of 2015 there were only four events that could be considered mass shootings. In 2014
there were a total of 51,811 gun incidents in the U.S. alone. Big number, right? That s probably
close to the amount of time some people text or say like and totally in a day. But this number
represents anything from gang violence to someone accidentally shooting their foot with a twenty
two. With those numbers we should make it illegal to even think about guns right? Well, if you
think that way, then you d agree that we should ban any form of smoking, alcohol, caffeine and
stress causers. The only reason that you should think the latter if you agree with strict guncontrol is
that heart disease killed 614,348 Americans in 2014. Popular news stations

Comparing Norse And Egyptian Mythology
Every country has its own mythology, bringing purpose for life. Norse and Egyptian Mythology
are two excellent examples. Norse Mythology was brought up by Vikings and is told throughout
areas such as, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, etc. Egyptian Mythology is told in
Egypt and was brought up by Pharaohs. Norse and Egyptian Mythologyare very different from one
another, but are both myths that were told for centuries, and are to be told for centuries more.
Norse Mythology s creation started with a giant named Ymir. He emerged from the ground and
grew very large from cow s milk. In time, the god Buri and his wife appeared and gave birth to
Bor and Bor s son was named Odin. Ymir, was evil, and the gods didn t like it, so they killed him,

The gods were pleased with what they did, but they were still missing one thing. To feel completely
satisfied, Odin took two broken trees and formed them into the first man and woman.
Egyptian Mythology s creation started with Nu, the dark and swirling chaos before time.
Eventually, Atum rose from Nu and created a hill for himself to stand on. He had one eye that
would see everything, but was very lonely. Soon after, Atum brought Shu, the god of air, and
Tefnut, the goddess of mist and moisture into life. They gave birth to Geb, the earth, and Nut, the
sky. Nut would give birth to the sun every night before sunset so the sun would shine through the
day, and die at night.
Just like in Norse Mythology, the Egyptian gods were still missing something to their creation. One
day, Shu and Tefnut got lost in the chaos. Atum was heartbroken, so he sent his eye to search for
them. Finally, they returned with Atum s eye, making Atum weep tears of joy. When the tears hit

Pyramus And Thisbe Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet
The stories of Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe both express star crossed lovers who

The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is strongly similar to The Love Story of Pyramus and Thisbe due
to their shared conflicts depicting how forbidden love causes numerous tragical outcomes. In

Romeo and Juliet s families are not very interested in them because they would know by now that
they got married, if they actually cared for their children. Romeo and Juliet also know that they are

The Importance Of Humanitarian Intervention
The international community has a responsibility to protect citizens against the gross human rights
abuses of their states. This statement leads into the discussion of the two main doctrines that relate
to human rights violations, the first being humanitarian intervention which has existed for many
centuries, and places emphasis on the powers of state having the duty to protect its citizens, and if
this is ignored, the international community has rights to step in. Despite the fact that, in theory,
this intervention doctrine has many flaws starting with the failures seen in crisis areas such as
Somalia, Bosnia and Kosovoand the debate on whether it compromises a state s sovereignty.
These faults led to the creation of the newer Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine, which, in its
own capacity, has many faults and failures, but has seen some small victories in region such as
Libya and Syria in recent years. Humanitarian intervention is by no means a new idea, it has in
fact been dated back to as early the 1600 s, when Hugo Grotius promoted the idea that a ruler
should be rightly dealt with if they were found to have inflicted inhumane treatment upon their
subjects (Haslett, 2014). It is described as the coercive action, using armed forces, by a state, in
another state without the permission of it authorities, in order to prevent and stop the suffering of
the citizens in that state. It can easily be confused with peacekeeping missions, but there are two

Essay about Describing Dunkirk
Describing Dunkirk On the 20th May 1940the allied troops were trapped by the Germans on the
Northern coast of France. The allies consisted of the British Expeditionary Force (B.E.F), the
Belgian Army and the ten best divisions of the French Army. It was on this day that Churchill
gave the command for the evacuation to take place, to Britain by ship, following advice from Lord
Gort (leader of the B.E.F). Rommel was advancing from the north and Degaudier from the south
trapping the troops. The evacuation was organised by Admiral Ramsey and codenamed Operation
Dynamo with the main objective to rescue as much of the B.E.F as possible. This evacuation began
on May 27th from the beaches of Dunkirk.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An important factor in arguing Dunkirk as a defeat is that 68,111 men from the B.E.F were
killed, wounded or taken prisoner during the evacuation. The cost of replacing the B.E.F s
equipment would be astronomical for the government and for their part in the evacuation the
Navy suffered 243 ships sunken (including 6 important British destroyers with 19 left damaged)
and the RAF lost 474 aircraft. Source 3 supports the view of Dunkirk as a British military defeat.
It is a photographic source showing Dunkirk after the evacuation displaying a deserted beach
littered with equipment, corpses and debris. Off the shore are broken half sunken ships with
those that have become beached, one possibly a military boat and also many smaller vessels.
The photograph of the dead soldiers shows military defeat as the objective was to rescue the
B.E.F and would be very demoralising for the British public. The large boat could belong to the
navy and would be very valuable, loss of this would be very expensive, along with the rest of the
abandoned equipment. The source seems reliable as it is first hand primary evidence. It is useful
for showing defeat as it displays what it looked like at Dunkirk after the evacuation. Its also backs
up my own knowledge as the B.E.F lost 68,111 men and you would expect bodies on the beaches

Typical Medium Dynamical Cluster Approximation
We generalize the typical medium dynamical cluster approximation (TMDCA) for systems with off
diagonal disorder.
By applying our approach to the Anderson model we consider the effects of nonlocal correlations
and typical environment beyond the local Blackman, Esterling, and Berk (BEB) method. %coherent
potential approximation.
Our formalism allows us to systematically study the effects of off diagonal disorder on the phase
diagram of traditional three dimensional Anderson model.
Disorder which is inevitably present in most real materials can drammatically affect their
properties~cite{Lee_RevModPhys,Belitz_RevModPhys}. It can lead to changes of their structure
and transport. One of the most prominent effects of disorder is the spacial confinement of charge
carriers known as Anderson localization ~cite{Anderson}.
The simplest model used to study these disorder effects is the
Anderson model which is a single band tight binding model with a random on site disorder potential.
Such a model is justified when the introduction of disorder in, for example a binary alloy by
substitution of host atoms by impurities, does not affect the neighbors and leads to the change of
the local potential on the substitution site only. In this situation the disorder appears only in the
diagonal terms of the Hamiltonian and hence is referred to as diagonal disorder (DD) case.
However, in the case when the bandwidth of from the dopant impurity atoms is very different from
the band width

Mobile Devices For A Large Geographical Area Wirelessly Essay
#1 The concept of a wireless network is to be able to provide a broad range of coverage to a
large geographical area wirelessly (Techtarget, n. d.). Further, a wireless network gives one an
advantage to connect wirelessly to other devices in separate areas of coverage. In healthcare, a
wireless network is used to improve access, reduce errors and deliver an accurate healthcare
information anywhere and at any given period among patients and healthcare providers (IEEE,
2003). Mobile devices, such as tablets, smartphones, personal digital assistant (PDA) and other
handheld devices have made it possible to have a broad range of efficient healthcare applications
(IEEE,2003). The mobile devices used by healthcare providers at a patient bedside can be used to
monitor and manage patient information s wirelessly (searchhealthIT, 2016).
Some of the examples of the wireless WAN I am familiar with are (a) Asynchronous Transfer Mode
(ATM) that is a new computer and communication technology used to transfer data, voice, and
video to transfer information consecutively over a communication line. Also, ATM is a technology
that is connection oriented and universally enable the transfer mode of choice broadband integrated
services digital network; and in ATM, information field is transferred transparently (Rajan
Selvakumar, 2016). Additionally, ATM data are broken down into fixed sizes and sent over WAN
network, and it also causes minimal latency (Cowley, 2012). (b) Frame relay is similar

How Does Emerson Characterize The Scholar
Emerson elaborates upon the necessity of the scholar by describing his pivotal role in society. He
first describes the responsibilities of the scholar as to cheer, to raise, and to guide men by showing
them facts amid appearances. The description introduces the idea that the world brims with
illusions intended to prey upon the weakness of the common man, and that the scholar must help
him navigate this labyrinth of truths and inaccuracies. Furthermore, Emerson elucidates that the
scholar s responsibility encompasses interpreting the world around him by personifying Reason as
an entity that pronounces on the passing men and events of today, and tasking the scholar with
interpreting her observations. Emerson goes on to characterize the scholar

The Fair Trade Of Coffee
Introduction and Background:
Many Canadians start their day with a cup of coffee, taking for granted how the coffee bean was
grown, harvested, packaged and shipped to their coffee provider to then roast and prepare for us
to purchase for as little as $1.50 per cup. Today coffee is the most important product in the Fair
Trade market affecting over five hundred thousand producers and workers. The Fair Trade label
can be traced back to 1988 originating from a church based Non Governmental Organization
(NGO) from the Netherlands that began an initiative to ensure coffee growers and pickers would
receive sufficient wages for their work. The NGO created the fair trade label called Max Havelaar.
Following this, similar organizations followed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Environmental impact:
Fair trade has been shown to have a positive impact on the environment. In fair trade production,
harmful chemicals are prohibited. There is an environmental criteria to ensure all fair trade certified
occupations work towards good environmental practices (Raynolds Bennett 2015). By practicing
safe farming, the health and safety is guaranteed for farm families, workers and the community. Fair
trade farmers must participate in a yearly examination to ensure they minimizing their use of
agrochemicals and provide a summary on their impacts to the environment. In fair trade production,
genetically modified crops are prohibited (Dragusanu et al. 2014). Fair trade has successfully been
able to promote more environmentally friendly farming among their certified farmers. This practice
supports long term environmental and social sustainability.
Bacon et al. (2008) found that 68 percent of Fair Trade farmers had implemented ecological
water purification systems, compared to 40 percent for conventional farmers. Moreover, 43
percent of Fair Trade farmers had implemented soil and water conservation practices, while only
10 percent of conventional farmers had done so. (p. 229). Fair trade aims to tackle climate change
and reduce as many harmful chemicals as possible. This is made possible by providing farmers
with access to organic training that opens the doors to premium markets. This ultimately provides
farmers incentives to

Girl Who Played With Fire
Think about someone you care about very strongly. Now imagine two other people you also care
about. Now imagine that the second and third person you thought of have been shot dead, and you
found their bodies. Then imagine that the first person you thought of was the prime suspect and
most likely the killer of the other two. Mikael Blomkvist deals with this exact situation in The Girl
Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson. In the sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
, also by
Larsson, Blomkvist is on the hunt for a killer and Lisbeth Salander is supposedly the one everyone
thinks is guilty. Her fingerprints are on the murderweapon, and almost everything points to her
being the murderer, but Mikael disagrees. He goes on a hunt to prove her... Show more content on

Salander s mother was constantly abused by her father. One night, while her mother slept, her
father attacked her mother. Salander spontaneously ran into the room with a knife and stabbed
her father in the shoulder multiple times, until he was bleeding so badly he ran out of the house.
However, the second event that takes place during All The Evil was the one that the book was
presumably titled after. Holger Palmgren explains what happened between Salander and her father
to Blomkvist: He rolled down the window, possibly to say something. Lisbeth was ready. She
threw a milk carton she had filled with gasoline into the car. Then she threw in a burning match
(Larsson 628). Salander played with fire, literally. She hated her father for beating her mother. She
hated him for leaving the house and leaving his family. She had had enough. By taking matters into
her own hands, Lisbeth thought she could solve the problem and get her retribution. Little did she
know, however, she had caused an even bigger one. Her father survived, and he wants her dead.
The burning hatred for her father, and the physical burning of her father is the main reason the title
supports the story extremely

Allegories in of Mice and Men
In the novel, Of mice and Men , John Steinbeck uses allegory to represent different themes and
messages. An allegory is a story, poem or a picture which can be interpreted to reveal a hidden
meaning. While reading Steinbeck s book I noticed different metaphors such as the usage of
animals and Curley s wife. Throughout the whole book the reader can notice many animals
mentioned such as rabbits, mice, the puppy and the old dog. Curley s wife is also a sort of
symbol. She represents the way in which the women were treated and looked upon in those days.
The animals and Curley s wife all symbolize different things in life in the 1930 s USA. They all
symbolize the hopes and the dreams that the characters share which motivates and drives them...

Saying that the rabbits should be furry, fluffy and colorful makes their life even more padded
and warm, which protects them from the tough world at that time. The animals are a great way
to show and symbolize different things. To find the allegorical meaning you only have to look
in between the lines to find a different meaning to the words and sayings. This can be seen in
the case of Curley s wife. By looking more closely at the story, one can see that Curley s wife is
also a metaphor which symbolizes the way which other people looked upon women in the
society of the 1930 s. Curley s wife represents a whole marginalized group in the American
society at that time. In the novel, characters are never fully developed, but instead appear as
outlines or symbols of real people. Candy, Crooks, and Curley s wife represent the discriminated
groups of age, race, and sex. Curley s wife has been given an overall picture in the eyes of
George and Lennie before they even meet her, by Candy. The picture Candy paints about her
hints at how she tends to give all the men on the ranch the eye . Nobody really knows Curley s
wife because nobody ever talks to her and listens to what she really has to say. Curley s wife
wants attention. She wants people to notice her. She is the only woman on the ranch out of all the
men. She wears fancy clothes and nice make up to make her look beautiful and

Penelope In The Odyssey Essay
The Strong Character of Penelope in Homer s Odyssey
Homer s Odyssey is a story of the homecoming of Odysseus after the Trojan War. Odysseus left
his wife, Penelope, and their young son, Telemachos, almost twenty years before the telling of this
story to fight in the Trojan War. His absence places Penelope in a rather precarious position. Faced
with many different circumstances, both good and bad, Penelope is on her own to decide the path
she wishes to take. Depending on her decisions, the situations could either be filled with wonderful
opportunities or perilous dangers. The strong character of Penelope is revealed by her decisions.
While Odysseus is away from home, Penelope finds herself playing the role of dutiful wife ... Show

For my mother, against her will, is beset by suitors... (Odyssey 2.50). Assuming that Odysseus had
died in the course of the war, they wish to marry her, although no news has yet been delivered as
to Odysseus true fate. Meanwhile, the suitors are eating all her food, killing off all her livestock,
and generally using up all the resources of the household (Odyssey 1.248 251). Elders of the
town suggest Penelope forget her pride and go home to her father and for him to arrange a new
wedding for her. Let him urge his mother to go back to her father s, / and they shall appoint the
marriage and arrange for the wedding presents... (Odyssey 2.195 196) Thus, the suitors pose
multiple dangers for Penelope. If the suitors ruin all the household s resources, or if one were to
successfully persuade her to marry him, she would lose her power position. Likewise, if the
resources run out and she is forced to move back in with her father, she would lose both her power
position and her autonomy.
Along with the suitors, Penelope also faces possible dangers from her own son. Even though
Telemachos is not in support of sending Penelope back to her father, he does not fail to
underestimate and otherwise disregard her. Following with the typical Greek mindset, Telemachos
views women as inherently inferior to men. This view includes how he sees his mother. He
automatically assumes that she cannot run a

Heritage and Identity in Pat Barker s Regeneration
The presence of Jews in England has been a source of controversy for many reasons. On page 35
of Pat Barker s historical novel Regeneration, Siegfried Sassoon reveals the nature of his
relationship with his father, who left home when he was five, and gives an account of his Jewish
history. Though he hadn t been raised Jewishand apparently had no association with his Jewish

during WWI. Through Sassoon s Jewish heritage and the other characters relation to the past,
Barker exposes the need of mankind to identify with the past in order to come to terms with the

that Sassoon s Mother was a Thorneycroft, dismissing his Jewish roots as giving him Hybrid

shows that even though he is quick to disregard Sassoon s unfavorable Jewish roots considering his
more nationally appealing qualities, it may have been reason enough to consider Sassoon unfit for

In the novel, Sassoon is one of many men and women who are struggling to resolve an inner

Ancient Greek Athletics, By Stephen G. Miller Essay
Stephen G. Miller, the author of Ancient Greek Athletics and many other academic writings
lived a very astounding life. Miller spent a great portion of his life traveling between the United
States and Greece. He went to school to become an archaeologist and afterwards became a
professor at Berkeley and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Miller was
driven by Plato s love for his work; however, he faced a minor setback when he realized Plato s
language was beyond what he could understand. He then decided to change his studies to
archaeology because of his new found love for amazing indoor and outdoor work. Miller had a
unique perspective on ancient Olympic gamesbecause he directed excavations for multiple years at
one of the Panhellenic sanctuary sites. He has written dozens of academic books along with
children s books, therefore I was excited to read this authors rendition of the earliest Olympic
Games. Miller s purpose for writing the book Ancient Greek Athletics is to teach the audience about
ancient Greek Games and how this important subject can teach us more about our own world. He
accomplishes this goal by using the artifacts he has studied along with the history itself to guide the
audience in their journey toward appreciating Greek heritage. In this book, Miller addresses the
Olympic Games that began more than twenty five hundred years ago. I learned many different

Analysis Of Grave Of The Fireflies
The film Grave of The Fireflies directed by Isao Takahata is based off true events and is set in
Japan during World War 2, we have seen many movies set in the time of world war two however
there are few movies which are portrayed from the losing side Japan. The movie follows two
kids witnessing a bombing of their home, which subsequently killed their mother due to her
being burned by the fire bombs. The movie is shown through the perspective of the boy s ghost
as it follows the life of himself and his younger sister through hardship and war. We see how the
boy must step up to take care of his sister due to their mother s death and the father who is at war,
we see the bond between the brother and the sister goes beyond this life as the sister s ghost
watches over him and waits for him in the afterlife. I am going to be analysing two scenes in the
film which shape the film because they have the most importance or detail in them. Scene 1 The
scene starts with Seita unveiling a bucket and watching as fireflies disperse into the shelter that
him and his sister are living in. We see, as the fireflies are released and lighting up the shelter and
the faces of the kids as this gives them hope and a distraction of their harsh world that they are
both living in. The siblings lie down and watch as the fireflies disperse throughout the shelter, we
then see a different light in the shelter we can see a distinct difference between this light and the
fireflies as they seem to be forming a

Crowded classroom conditions not only make it difficult for students to concentrate on their
lessons, but inevitably limit the number of time teachers can spend on innovative teaching methods
such as cooperative learning or group work or, indeed on teaching anything beyond the barest
minimum of required material (Burnett, Rivera Batiz, Marti 1995 p. 1). Students will disrupt the
teaching atmosphere because they just don t want to learn or just don t understand what is being

Bunkering In Nigeria Essay
The Political Economy Of Illegal Bunkering In Nigeria
By

Demonise Diabolise:
The Niger Delta has been a source of illicit international business deals (like the trans Atlantic slave
trade), as far back as the 15th century. Today a new form of syndicated criminal proclivity is
threatening the very foundations of Nigeria s petroleum industry, and by extension, the Nigerian
economy, as well as putting tremendous pressure on Chief (General) Olusegun Obasanjo. That
problem is the illegal bunkering of crude oil and/or its derivatives.

However, the criminalisation of bunkering operations, the unstable, inadequate, and unreliable
domestic refining capacity, and a miasma of simplistically conceived national energy policies,
among several other reasons, account for this unique anomaly in Nigeria. Actually, ships prefer not
to come to Nigeria and bunker because of the high port charges, related miscellaneous illegalities,
called levies , and official extortions like mandatory but illegal military task force approvals .
The Origins Of A Dysfunction:
Before 1973, petroleum products pricing was not uniform in Nigeria. The retail prices of petroleum
products were dependent on the point of sale, relative to the only primary distribution depot then, at
the Shell BP Refinery, Alesa Eleme, near Okrika, near Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
In October 1973, the military dictatorship of General Yakubu Gowon decreed uniform pricing of
refined petroleum products for the Nigerian market. Subsequently, the Petroleum Equalisation Fund
(PEF) Decree No. 9 of 1975 was promulgated. To date, it provides for the uniform pricing of all
petroleum products throughout Nigeria, irrespective of distance from point of production. The

The Charge Of The Light Brigade Literary Devices
The Battle of Balaclava of the Crimean War took place on October 25, 1854 (Greenspan). Not even
two months later, Lord Alfred Tennyson published his poem The Charge of the Light Brigade
(History.com). Although the Poetry for Students author believes that the soldiers loyalty was the
most notable feature, the more important aspect was the soldiers bravery (Poetryfor Students). In
The Charge of the Light Brigade, Tennyson accentuates the bravery that the soldiers exhibited in

At the end of every paragraph, rode the six hundred, or something similar to it, was repeated. If
the reader ignores every other phrase and only reads the last line of each stanza, he is still able
to get a sense of how the battle progresses. When the Light Brigade begins to lose the battle, the
phrase shifts to not the six hundred, and then to left of six hundred (Tennyson). It is easy to see
from these phrases that the circumstances have changed for the soldiers. It seems like the soldiers
have no hope and will be forgotten. The last line of the poem, however, changes everything. Noble
six hundred! ; the soldiers will not be forgotten or ridiculed, rather they will be remembered and
praised for their bravery, no matter the outcome of the battle. Without this phrase being placed at
the end of every paragraph, the reader wouldn t understand that the soldiers extensive bravery was
enough for them to be remembered, even though they were unsuccessful in battle.
The Charge of the Light Brigade is full of emotion and excitement. Neither of those sensations
would have been possible without the use of literary devices. Tennyson used repetition, sensory
details, and epistrophe in order to add to the emotional effect, but more importantly to aid him in
proving the soldiers bravery. Without these literary devices, the poem

Stump s Account Of Love
Love Sumps account of Love. Stump begins her discussion on the nature of love by firstly
making it known that she will be using Aquinas account. Stump is a notable Aquinas scholar and
this is important to know as she goes on to contrast his view with more contemporary ones. I will
analyze her arguments and discussions as to why she is correct in offering Aquinas account as the
best that we have available to us. I will mainly focus on her telling of Aquinas account of loveand
will contrast it with what she writes about Kolodny s and the other accounts that she mentions in
her chapter..
Stump begins by talking about the responsiveness account of love: On one account, love is a
response of the lover to qualities he perceives and values in the beloved. On this way of thinking
about love, there are intrinsic characteristics of the beloved person that are especially attractive to
the lover, whose love is engendered in him by these characteristics. So there is a reason for the
love the lover has for his beloved, and that is the set of characteristics that the lover finds so
valuable in the beloved (Stump 86).

Wright Hinson (2010) in their study found that new communication media have brought dramatic changes in various aspects in this field. This fact gives a clear picture of how the field of public relations must have the readiness to be able to adapt to changes in the new media not to get stuck on the use of traditional media that had given a positive benefit. Further, Weber (Wright Hinson, 2010) suggests that the world of communications is dramatically shifted towards the digital and anyone who understands this transformation will be communicating more effectively than those who do not understand. Various forms of social media like podcasts, blogging, and video iPod are considered effective for communicating with stakeholder organizations, both public and private. Both have the same interest in being in another country and experiencing another culture, but to what extent are they experiencing it in the same way? The tourism industry has created these different types of categories of people who travel to other countries that have evolved over hundreds of years. Modern travel has become more affordable to people of all different backgrounds and with growing technology it has helped create this booming economy that the whole world in some way benefits off of. In todays society it is now more affordable and easier to reach another country compared to 100 years ago. This has created both titles of the tourist and travller as the tourist has become a negative title to carry as sterotypes on todays society have created a tarnished reputation of tourists. It is widely talked about how the tourist and traveller have two different meanings, but are they really that different? If so which title would fit the backpaper? As a traveller or tourist? This will be analysed throughout so there can be an evaluation and judgement made to help find the answers to these questions. • 4. Analyzing Winckler s Family Guy The analysis of the first episode of Family Guy is important in that, as Winckler puts it, the pilot of any series is representative of the whole program (44). The general atmosphere, the characters introduced, and a few catchphrases set the tone of the sitcom. Some cutaway gags appear, cultural references are made and a few borderline jokes are told, thus categorizing the show as an adult series. The pilot truly embodies these characteristics that will remain the hallmarks of the show. In the case of Family Guy, the airing time also played a key role in the success of the sitcom, as the pilot was first broadcast right after Super Bowl XXXIII. The plot was highly inspired by MacFarlane s final university project called The Life of Larry, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first cutaway takes place at church, where the priest talks about the story of Job. The French version inexplicably calls Job Joe , even though his story and other Bible references are well known in French culture. When the priest tells Peter that the communion wine is indeed the blood of the Christ, Peter says that Jesus must have been wasted 24 hours a day ; the adaptors changed the sentence, possibly out of fear of offending viewers, to On peut me faire des transfusions tous les jours ou c est trop demander? . The effect it has is similar but the original does surprisingly not emphasize much Peter s alcoholism. In the next memory, Peter is seen eating some buttered rum ice cream. In French, the ice cream flavor is changed to rhum raisin , a different one yet equivalent in alcoholic effect. In the final cutaway, the family is seen watching Philadelphia at the movie theater. After a while, Peter recognizes Tom Hanks from the comedy Big and thus laughs at everything the actor says, including his confessing that he has AIDS. The joke successfully transfers to French since Tom Hanks and his filmography are famous in French culture, and the fact that Peter would laugh at such a serious matter categorizes him as ... As well as slavery, American Slavery, American Freedom also focuses on slavery and freedom are united with the emergence of the colony of Virginia. It is very often underestimated how important and influential slaverywas in our country. Morgan s premise for writing the novel was not only to demonstrate the colonization of Virginia, but to also make the connection as to how slavery played a role in this freedom. The first part of the book focuses on the rapport between the Virginian settlers and the Indians who were located in the area. As animosity grew between the Indians and the settlers, the settlers did not want to confide in the Indians for anything or part of their colony. This lack of communication and trust between the settlers and Indians caused the settlers to have a shortage of food because the settlers did not want help from the Indians, but they also did not want to do the work themselves. Although many voyages of discovery were started in search of wealth, religion was also a big reason for exploring other continents. Religion wasn t the main motivation for European exploration in the 15th and 16th century. Instead, the main motivation was economic motives, which was closely followed by religion, and to a lesser extent was technological developments. The main motivation of European exploration was economic motives. People were beginning to become more interested in traveling by sea to reach Asia and Africa and all their riches(Duiker,494). The spice trade was what linked Europeto Asia, and the gold trade linked Europe to Africa. Furthermore, in the 15th and 16th centuries, as the economy and purchasing power of Europe developed and increased, the spice demand grew at a steady rate(Arnold,12). Therefore, spices were one of the few things that made overseas trade possible. Europe did not have very much gold to begin with, so ultimately the gold mines that they did possess were emptied. After 1400, Europe started trading with the areas that produced gold, increasing their amount of gold. Gold was very important to Europe, because not only was it used for decorations, but also their currency. • 14. The Importance Of Humanitarian Intervention The international community has a responsibility to protect citizens against the gross human rights abuses of their states. This statement leads into the discussion of the two main doctrines that relate to human rights violations, the first being humanitarian intervention which has existed for many centuries, and places emphasis on the powers of state having the duty to protect its citizens, and if this is ignored, the international community has rights to step in. Despite the fact that, in theory, this intervention doctrine has many flaws starting with the failures seen in crisis areas such as Somalia, Bosnia and Kosovoand the debate on whether it compromises a state s sovereignty. These faults led to the creation of the newer Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine, which, in its own capacity, has many faults and failures, but has seen some small victories in region such as Libya and Syria in recent years. Humanitarian intervention is by no means a new idea, it has in fact been dated back to as early the 1600 s, when Hugo Grotius promoted the idea that a ruler should be rightly dealt with if they were found to have inflicted inhumane treatment upon their subjects (Haslett, 2014). It was on this day that Churchill gave the command for the evacuation to take place, to Britain by ship, following advice from Lord Gort (leader of the B.E.F). Rommel was advancing from the north and Degaudier from the south trapping the troops. An important factor in arguing Dunkirk as a defeat is that 68,111 men from the B.E.F were killed, wounded or taken prisoner during the evacuation. Source 3 supports the view of Dunkirk as a British military defeat. It is a photographic source showing Dunkirk after the evacuation displaying a deserted beach littered with equipment, corpses and debris. Off the shore are broken half sunken ships with those that have become beached, one possibly a military boat and also many smaller vessels. The photograph of the dead soldiers shows military defeat as the objective was to rescue the B.E.F and would be very demoralising for the British public. The large boat could belong to the navy and would be very valuable, loss of this would be very expensive, along with the rest of the abandoned equipment. The source seems reliable as it is first hand primary evidence. It is useful for showing defeat as it displays what it looked like at Dunkirk after the evacuation. By applying our approach to the Anderson model we consider the effects of nonlocal correlations and typical environment beyond the local Blackman, Esterling, and Berk (BEB) method. %coherent potential approximation. Our formalism allows us to systematically study the effects of off diagonal disorder on the phase diagram of traditional three dimensional Anderson model. Disorder which is inevitably present in most real materials can drammatically affect their properties~cite{Lee_RevModPhys,Belitz_RevModPhys}. It can lead to changes of their structure and transport. One of the most prominent effects of disorder is the spacial confinement of charge carriers known as Anderson localization ~cite{Anderson}. The simplest model used to study these disorder effects is the Anderson model which is a single band tight binding model with a random on site disorder potential. Such a model is justified when the introduction of disorder in, for example a binary alloy by substitution of host atoms by impurities, does not affect the neighbors and leads to the change of the local potential on the substitution site only. In this situation the disorder appears only in the diagonal terms of the Hamiltonian and hence is referred to as diagonal disorder (DD) case. In healthcare, a wireless network is used to improve access, reduce errors and deliver an accurate healthcare information anywhere and at any given period among patients and healthcare providers (IEEE, 2003). The Fair Trade label can be traced back to 1988 originating from a church based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) from the Netherlands that began an initiative to ensure coffee growers and pickers would receive sufficient wages for their work. The NGO created the fair trade label called Max Havelaar. Following this, similar organizations followed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is an environmental criteria to ensure all fair trade certified occupations work towards good environmental practices (Raynolds Bennett 2015). By practicing safe farming, the health and safety is guaranteed for farm families, workers and the community. Fair trade farmers must participate in a yearly examination to ensure they minimizing their use of agrochemicals and provide a summary on their impacts to the environment. In fair trade production, genetically modified crops are prohibited (Dragusanu et al. 2014). Fair trade has successfully been able to promote more environmentally friendly farming among their certified farmers. This practice supports long term environmental and social sustainability. Bacon et al. (2008) found that 68 percent of Fair Trade farmers had implemented ecological water purification systems, compared to 40 percent for conventional farmers. Moreover, 43 percent of Fair Trade farmers had implemented soil and water conservation practices, while only 10 percent of conventional farmers had done so. (p. 229). Fair trade aims to tackle climate change and reduce as many harmful chemicals as possible. This is made possible by providing farmers with access to organic training that opens the doors to premium markets. This ultimately provides farmers incentives to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now imagine that the second and third person you thought of have been shot dead, and you found their bodies. Then imagine that the first person you thought of was the prime suspect and most likely the killer of the other two. Mikael Blomkvist deals with this exact situation in The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson. In the sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo , also by Larsson, Blomkvist is on the hunt for a killer and Lisbeth Salander is supposedly the one everyone thinks is guilty. Holger Palmgren explains what happened between Salander and her father to Blomkvist: He rolled down the window, possibly to say something. Lisbeth was ready. She threw a milk carton she had filled with gasoline into the car. Then she threw in a burning match (Larsson 628). Salander played with fire, literally. She hated her father for beating her mother. She hated him for leaving the house and leaving his family. She had had enough. By taking matters into her own hands, Lisbeth thought she could solve the problem and get her retribution. An allegory is a story, poem or a picture which can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning. While reading Steinbeck s book I noticed different metaphors such as the usage of animals and Curley s wife. Throughout the whole book the reader can notice many animals mentioned such as rabbits, mice, the puppy and the old dog. Curley s wife is also a sort of symbol. She represents the way in which the women were treated and looked upon in those days. The animals and Curley s wife all symbolize different things in life in the 1930 s USA. Saying that the rabbits should be furry, fluffy and colorful makes their life even more padded and warm, which protects them from the tough world at that time. The animals are a great way to show and symbolize different things. To find the allegorical meaning you only have to look in between the lines to find a different meaning to the words and sayings. This can be seen in the case of Curley s wife. By looking more closely at the story, one can see that Curley s wife is also a metaphor which symbolizes the way which other people looked upon women in the society of the 1930 s. Curley s wife represents a whole marginalized group in the American society at that time. In the novel, characters are never fully developed, but instead appear as outlines or symbols of real people. Candy, Crooks, and Curley s wife represent the discriminated groups of age, race, and sex. Curley s wife has been given an overall picture in the eyes of George and Lennie before they even meet her, by Candy. Odysseus left his wife, Penelope, and their young son, Telemachos, almost twenty years before the telling of this story to fight in the Trojan War. His absence places Penelope in a rather precarious position. Faced with many different circumstances, both good and bad, Penelope is on her own to decide the path she wishes to take. Even though Telemachos is not in support of sending Penelope back to her father, he does not fail to underestimate and otherwise disregard her. The movie follows two kids witnessing a bombing of their home, which subsequently killed their mother due to her being burned by the fire bombs. I am going to be analysing two scenes in the film which shape the film because they have the most importance or detail in them. Scene 1 The scene starts with Seita unveiling a bucket and watching as fireflies disperse into the shelter that him and his sister are living in. We see, as the fireflies are released and lighting up the shelter and the faces of the kids as this gives them hope and a distraction of their harsh world that they are both living in. • 43. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Die Casting 1.Hot tear is an irreversible failure or crack formed in casting. It is commonly related to the inadequate compensation of solidification shrinkage by melt flow with the occurrence of thermal stresses. Controlling the right pouring temperature, prevention of rapid changes in section and consistency in cooling rates can be done as remedies to this phenomenon. 2.Die Casting is a manufacturing process that can create geometrically complex metal parts by using conveniently reusable molds that are commercially referred to as dies. Processes: пѓ Clamping clean the earlier injection and then apply oil to ease the application of the next process пѓ Injection manage the temperature for the molten metal in the furnace in preparation for its delivery to a hollow then inserted in the die. пѓ ... Gating systems are commonly composed or element such assprue, sprue base well, ingrate, pouring basin, runner, runner extension, and riser. 7.A sprue ought to be tapered in order to minimize if not prevent the occurrence of vortex. It can be used to scatter the kinetic energy of the dropping stream and avoid splashing and turbulence as the metal is subjected to spinning in the runner. 8.Defects of die casting are as follows: a. Shrinkage defects happens when thick metal hardens because of the unavailability of standard feed material. b. Gas porosity bubble formation present on the cast after cooling process. c. Mold shift commonly happens at the final line when parts of the cast are misassembled. d. Rough surface finish phenomena wherein too much fluidity of the metal is occurs and hard pouring takes place. Usage of proper mold of sad, perfect placement of feeders and uniform pattern alignment are ways on how these abovementioned defects can be prevented. 9.Die Casting Advantages: пѓ Remarkable finished outcomes пѓ Accurate dimensional ...
