A Proposal to Implement a Gigabit Internet Setup for ABC...
IT Proposal The proposal attached herein this report proposes the cheapest and most cost effective
way to implement a Gigabit internet setup for ABC Inc s offices. Since all of the offices and
workstations in question are within 150 feet of the company s wiring closet, it will not take a lot of
infrastructure to get the job done. However, ABC should not cheap out and get the bare minimum
setup either. Proposed Equipment As for the cabling that would be required to get Gigabit internet, or
1000 megabits per second, that would call for either Category 5+, 5e or 6. Any one of those three is
technically capable of supporting Gigabit speeds. All three have been out for some time now and it
would be best to go ahead and spend the extra amount, although not too much extra, on the category 6
cable. If this is done, it is extremely unlikely that any re cabling would have to occur for the
foreseeable future (Lowe, 2002). The reason the author of this proposal would highly recommend
category 6 is because gigabit internet is the fastest that 5 and 5e can run at. As such, if there is any
increase in the speed of the other internet equipment in the coming years, an upgrade to speeds would
require re cabling of the actual network cable as well and that day is coming sooner than one may
think. Using 5 or 5e would be foolish because category 6 is not that much more expensive and
category 6 can handle ten gigabit (10,000 mbps) internet at its top end ¦and that is just an estimate. It

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plate Fin Heat Exchanger
b) Counter Flow
In a counter flow heat exchanger the two fluids flow parallel to each other but in opposite directions.
The counter flow heat exchanger provides the most thermally effective arrangement for recovery of
heat or cold from process streams. A counter flow arrangement is thermodynamically superior to any
other flow arrangement. It is the most efficient flow arrangement, producing the highest temperature
change in each fluid compared to any other two fluid arrangement for a given overall thermal
conductance (UA), fluid flow rates and fluid inlet temperatures. Cryogenic refrigeration and
liquefaction equipment use this geometry almost exclusively. But this type of heat exchangers
demands proper design because of the complex geometry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
b) Difficulty in cleaning of passages, which limits its application to clean and relatively non corrosive
fluids.
c) Difficulty of repair in case of failure or leakage between passages.
1.6 Applications The plate fin heat exchanger is suitable for use over a wide range of temperatures and
pressures for gas gas, gas liquid and multi phase duties. They are used in a variety of applications.
They are mainly employed in the field of cryogenics for cryogenic separation and liquefaction of air,
natural gas processing and liquefaction, production of petrochemicals and large refrigeration systems.
The exchangers that are used for cryogenic air separation and LPG fractionation are the largest and
most complex units of the plate fin type and a single unit could be of several meters in length. Brazed
aluminum plate fin exchangers are widely used in the aerospace industries because of their low weight
to volume ratio and compactness. They are being used mainly in environment control system of the
aircraft, avionics and hydraulic oil cooling and fuel heating. Making heat exchangers as compact as
possible has been an everlasting demand in automobile and air conditioning industries as both are
space conscious. In the automobile sector they are used for making the radiators. The other

An Analysis Of Abraham Lincoln s Justified The Restriction...
As a president, one s major goal is to keep the country and its people safe, regardless of what may be
necessary to do in order to protect the people. Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United
States, had this goal in mind when he declared a State of Emergency in the U.S. in 1863, and
suspended American s civil liberties such as habeas corpus. The Union and the safety of Americans
were more important to President Lincoln than civil liberties, and restricting them was necessary. The
rebellion and invasion of Confederates justified the restriction of civil liberties because the safety of
American citizens is superior to these civil liberties.
Abraham Lincoln argues that ...the inherent power of the executive justifies using whatever

The Rosewood Chocolate Industry
Rosewood, a name recognized by most and was considered almost as highly as the Queen. Well, that
was, until they went entirely bankrupt. The Rosewood s were a company that produced the highest
quality sweets in all of England, but for decent prices, however this was how they stayed in business
for nearly a decade but they were outdone by the Jeffries that started to make the same quality of
candies for even less money. That was the true downfall of the Rosewood chocolate industry. With the
fall of the company, cash began to dwindle and their normally weighted wallets began to get lighter
and lighter. This happened until their house was foreclosed on, and they were practically dragged from
their manor with a whole lot of screaming of course. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though, for little Arthur, this had the greatest toll. Moving from a large mansion, in the country, to a
small, in city, flat was a major change. Yet, this was not the worst so far. The worst surprisingly was
the fact he was going to have to start to wash himself and help clean with his mum. Dan found this
topic confusing, so now he stood over the water filled sink with wide eyes, nails dug into a dishrag
they had gotten from a shop from the outer city. How was he to do this? Mum was out doing some
garden work for the woman down the road, picking flowers for a few pounds and father was out trying
to get a job in a corporation that made low end clothing. This was the least small Danny could do to
help them out. He had to figure this out, he thought, he needed to be a big boy and get himself
together. Alright. He cleared his throat, placing his cloth to the side of the sink, his little hands
trembling as he lowered them to the dishes. He felt sick. It smelled putrid and looked grimy. Though
he lost his money, he still held his dignity and snobby attitude. Ew! He jerked back once he came

How Social Work Affects The Lives Of Becoming A Social Worker
Social Work is a diverse field, which grants the worker the chance to touch a wide kind of people. The
range of social work is widespread that a worker could work with one population or many, depending
on the workers goals. In addition, it permits the worker with the ability to divulge into their life
passions. An individual requires a passion for the work they do because it is what pushes the desire to
help. It is important to explore what one is passionate about while embarking on the journey of
becoming a social worker. Obtaining an MSW degree helps to insure that the person who possesses it
will be able to explore the many pathways of social work. An individual with an MSW could become
a professor, do clinical social work, forensic social work or throw their hat into the political arena.
With all these different areas, narrowing down to one pathway might prove difficult. While the goal
might be to participate in every path that social work offers, one could still find sole passion in a
single population. One s passion can be discovered in a variety of ways. Their passion could have
emerged as a child, through their education, through their job or through their internships.
My passion for social work started when I was a child. I knew at a young age that I wanted to provide
support and help for people. I was not always certain what form of reinforcement and help I wanted to
provide but I knew I wanted to help people learn and mature from the matters and challenges

Different Impacts on Religion
Close to one hundred and fifty years apart, both Louis XIV Edict of Fontainebleau and Luther s
Address to the Christian Nobility of the German Nation had an immense impact on religion. Martin
Luther s document would pave the way for the Protestant Reformation, while Louis XIV would
revoke all the freedoms that the Huguenots enjoyed in a Catholic France with the Edict of Nantes.
This essay will compare and contrast these distinctions and their impact on religion. Therefore,
although years apart, these two documents lead a paradigm shift, address what they believe to be evils
plaguing their lands, and put power in the hands of the temporal authorities.
The renowned individuals, King Louis XIV and Martin Luther, led a paradigm shift with ... Show

The Pope s anointment and all his religious rites (unction, tonsure, ordination, consecration) all made
him a puppet and not what a real leader of the Catholic Church should have been. Luther quoted St.
Peter who said, Thus we are all consecrated as, priests by baptism , which meant all the citizens are
equal under God s eyes. Every Christian is baptized and has the ability to absolve their sins and Luther
believed that with indulgences, the Church has destroyed the great virtue of these privileges. The
second wall attacked the Church considering them to be Master of Scriptures . He felt that if the real
justice of God is found in the bible, then the Pope cannot be the only one right in interpreting
scriptures. Luther explained that if this was the case, then we must say, I believe in the Pope of Rome,
and reduce the Christian Church to one man, which is a devilish and damnable heresy. Luther went
about this on his own as he translated the Bible into German, published the 95 theses, and with the
help of the printing press, made the word of God available to thousands of people. The third and final
wall, Luther believed to be the easiest to overcome. He believed that the Church needed to be held
accountable if people felt that they are acting contrary to the scriptures. After a period of review, the
German princes eventually agreed with Luther and adopted his proposed

Figurative Language In Erik Larson s Devil In The White City
A Tale of Two Cities
Serbian poet, Dejan Stojanovic, once stated, Devil and God two sides of the same face. When looking
at Chicago during the Columbian Exposition, there were two sides of Chicago known as the white city
and the black city. The white city was the fairgrounds where the World Fair occurred. The black city,
however, is the rest of Chicago where the crime, poverty, disease, and filth was represented. Erik
Larson constructs the black and white city in Devil in the White City by incorporating figurative
language, imagery, and juxtaposition.
One of Erik Larson s main ways of building the black and white cities is through figurative language.
Larson expresses that Chicago is likened...to a human being with his skin removed ... Show more

Using descriptive diction such as eerie and swamp readers can imagine an unpleasant city rustling
with filth and crime. Larson exposes that Chicago had auras of mosquitoes in its midst. Readers
automatically see Chicago as a filthy and troublesome town when they associate it with mosquitoes.
This view of Chicago created by Larson further achieves his purpose to show the downside of
Chicago during the time the World Fair was being constructed and attended. When the World Fair was
finished, Larson described the nights, the lamps that laced every building and walkway produced the
most elaborate demonstration of electric illumination ever attempted (254). Larson says the lamps
laced the walkways in the white city which allows readers to picture the city in a whimsical way. The
feeling of the word laced sits with readers in a positive way. Thus, Larson can achieve the purpose of
forcing readers to see the white city in a luxurious fashion. Also, Larson mentions that the lighting was
elaborate. Readers see the white city as a sophisticated and lavish place rather than how they see the
black city. Larson again is able to persuade readers into believing the magic of the white city. Larson
calls upon imagery to construct the two sides of Chicago. Larson deploys juxtaposition to build the
two views of Chicago. Larson

It is obvious that there has been a clear breakdown in the relationship between management and staff

I believe that the pay and training issues illustrate an underlying lack of respect for junior staff which
gives them little incentive to follow rules or procedure. Additionally the lack of formal training and

A Flat Tax Is A System Of Taxation
A flat tax is a system of taxation that taxes at a uniform rate, regardless of income level. In the United
States we currently use a progressive tax system, meaning that high income earners pay taxes at a
higher rate than low income earners. A flat tax rate is a tax system with a constant marginal rate,
which is applied to individual income. There are various tax systems that are labeled a flat tax even
though they are significantly different. A true flat rate tax is a system of taxation where one tax rate is
applied to all personal income with no deductions. A flat tax is a tax that is applied at a consistent rate
with no variables in its application. In contrast with progressive or regressive taxes, where the rate that
is applied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the true sense of the word, these are actually progressive tax plans, but they fall in between the
current progressive plan and a strictly constant marginal rate.
PROS
1. Simplicity considered a significant benefit of the flat tax system. One tax rate makes for easy
computation by the Internal Revenue Service and straightforward payments from taxpayers.
2. Because the flat tax taxes only one income, it is easier to understand and to report.
3. The flat tax eliminates global taxation and allows the United States to compete more evenly in
global markets.
4. This tax system does not discriminate based on income level; everyone pays the same percent of
income.
5. An advantage of a flat tax is that no one receives special treatment; all people whether poor or rich
are taxed in exactly the same way.
6. Would result in considerable savings to all parties; the time and energy businesses and individuals
spend annually in preparing tax forms would be greatly reduced, as would the costs to the government
of collecting revenue.
7. The Internal Revenue Service could be substantially downsized.
8. For tax payers, the financial cost of complying with regulations set by the IRS is high.
9. With a flat tax system, a section of the tax code biased against capital formation, death tax, capital
gains tax and double taxation of savings and dividends would be removed.
10. A flat tax will only tax earned income.
11. Professional tax

College Tailgate Event Analysis
According to dictionary.com, a tailgate is an outdoor party or picnic, typically served in the parking lot
of a sports stadium, and served on the tailgates of station wagons. This definition slightly differs from
of the actual description of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte s advertisement for the
tailgate event on campus. The event was described as a fun filled tailgate with free food and
giveaways. At the UNCC, college tailgates provide a platform in which students can display their
school pride in various student oriented social activities such as free food, music, and miscellaneous
items (school shirts, hats, school pencils etc.) prior to a popular sports game such as basketball or
football. Within the tailgate, competitiveness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dominance correlates to competitiveness because it gives a sense of power. Power as discussed in
class can be described as ability to exercise one s will which can alter the attitude of the opponent
once defeated. In relation to the discussions in class power is gained by competitiveness. For example,
the tailgate encourages students to prepare for the battle against another opponent. In the Journal of
Consumer Psychology it states, ...competitiveness was guided by three situational contexts in which
the motivation to win and defeat others may impact consumer behavior (Mowen 54). Now this
competitiveness is universal but in terms of both men and women it differs slightly. I noticed at the
men were expressing their confidence and competitiveness in comparison to the women. Gender role
within the difference of competition is a factor due to the cultural norm that men are supposed to be
aggressive as a trait of masculinity and women are supposed to be submissive as a trait of femininity.
In the research article, Gender and Competition, stated, Laboratory studies have documented that
women often respond less favorably to competition than men...men are more eager to compete
(Niederle and Vesterlund 601). Due the cultural norm that men are supposed to be more aggressive
and competitive, affects how women react to things that involve any form of

Similarities Between A Streetcar Named Desire And Death Of...
Contrast and Compare how Miller and Williams explore The Theme of Madness in Death of a
salesman and A Streetcar Named Desire .
Miller s Death of a Salesman and Williams Streetcar Named Desire both explore how the two main
protagonists, Willy Loman and Blanche Dubois cannot adjust to the new society which has changed
drastically around them. Willy Loman is a father, desperate to hold on to the life he once lived when
he was younger. Throughout the play, we see how Willy s state of mind deteriorates as the play goes
on. Likewise, A Streetcar Named Desire portrays the ways in which Blanche, who represents old
values in the old world who believes women should be treated as ladies, attempts to hide from the
reality which she is unable to avoid. Stanley, on the other hand, represents the new values and is a
reflection of reality for Blanche in the way he treats her.
In both playwrights the protagonist s fragile state of minds are introduced from the beginning. Willy

avoid anything specifically, he is reluctant to listen to his son Biff when he confronts him to make him
see the truth. Somehow he is able to completely ignore the truth and live in his own fantasy world
which he is confortable in, presenting the new society as a negative one for Willy. They both prefer to
live artificial lives but the music haunts them both which eventually leads their unstable state of minds
to progress for the worse which can be seen when Willy starts to talk to himself and Blanche becomes

What Is The Difference Between Men And Women Deborah Tannen
Women versus Men: The Art of Miscommunication There is often miscommunication between the
sexes, whether it is spouses, friends, siblings, or parents. The miscommunication between the sexes is
not intentional; it is simply because of the differences in the way men and women think and interact.
In Deborah Tannen s essay, But What Do You Mean?, Tannen identifies the seven primary differences
in which men and women interact. Of the seven differences between women and men interactions than
Tannen points out, the most notable ones that I have seen to be true are apologies, jokes, and criticism.
Apologizing is, from what I have seen growing up, probably the most misunderstood. Tannen points
out in her essay that women use the term I m sorry as a way for both parties in a conversation to take
part of the blame, and show equal footing or to show that it is okay. I have seen plenty of examples of
this, especially with my grandma and my aunt. When my grandma would forget something, she would
apologize, then my aunt would say that it s okay, and then she would apologize to my grandma.
Growing up, I did not understand why my aunt would apologize, as it was not her fault, but reading
Tannen explain it in her essay, I understand that she was just saying it to tell my grandma that it is
okay and not to worry about it. Another reason that I have personally seen women apologize more that
Tannen did not elaborate on, is that when women are in conversations about something bad

My Religious Upbringing. I Am A Member Of The Church Of
My Religious Upbringing I am a member of the Church of Christ. It is a non denominational church
that lives by the New Testament in the Holy Bible, and uses the Old Testament as a source of
reference. In simple terms, it s a belief that the new law is in place and the old law has been put away
with Jesus s crucifixion. In the Old Testament, it was a command to sacrifice something for the
forgiveness of sins. Now, with the ultimate sacrifice being given for our sins (Jesus s Life) we do not
have to sacrifice no more. Instead we learn and study God s word and obey his word. I was born in

While others may not believe the same as I do, I find with the studies of the scripture, I feel I am
going to a church that follows the New Testament to the best of its ability. Just like every human being
everything has its faults, but I still believe we are still going to work the rest of our lives to try and
obtain the perfection that Jesus Christ had. I really started studying the differences in churches at the
age of sixteen, but by the age of twenty I had slacked off and started to drift away from the church
because of the troubles I had brought on myself. This is also the reason I m in college at the age of
thirty two and not holding a degree in my hand yet. In this paper the directions wanted a comment on
organized religion, and that depends on the definition of what people interpret organized religion. I
have heard organized religion referred to as only denominational churches and as any church that
meets regularly. The contrast between the two meanings vary deeply. For instance, I am a member of a
non denominational church that meets regularly and to me it is an organized religion. It is a church
that has been set up years ago, that has its boundaries as to where it functions. I believe without my
church I would be a lost soul. It has given me a ground to live by and

The Persistence Of Ancient Symbols From Neolithic And...
1. Introduction This dissertation examines the persistence of ancient symbols from Neolithic and
Pictish eras and the ways in which they reappear in Scottish art. The discussion takes the form of a
hypothetical exhibition which brings together examples of art from many periods and in a variety of
formats. Rugoff (2006, p.46) states exhibitions need to ask interesting questions, even unanswerable
questions, instead of handing us tidy answers . By bringing together cultural artefacts and works of art
in one venue this exhibition raises questions about how objects come to be defined as art and whether
our definitions depend on the context within which an object is viewed. The thesis of the exhibition
therefore is that in placing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is organised into sections based on artistic themes rather than chronology, and offers the engagement
of touch and hearing as well as the visual. It also moves beyond the gallery, using both the immediate
surroundings and site specific guided visits to remind the visitor of the essential role of the land in
Scottish art. The audience reached by this multi perspective approach will therefore be a wide one,
including those interested in Scotland and its history as well as those with an interest in art and
creative processes. 2. The Exhibition Thesis: how we decide what is Art The ancient artefacts in the
exhibition include works widely separated by great periods of time, and works which have been
altered by succeeding generations. For millennia the oldest works were simply there , and part of
folklore. From the eighteenth century they began to be viewed as being of antiquarian interest; later
they were taken into the care of professional organisations, and later still they began to be considered
as a form of art . The exhibition acknowledges the uncertainties surrounding their original purpose.
Presenting them in an artistic context, it demonstrates that our definitions of what constitutes art are
also problematical. Even the all encompassing definition recently proposed by Brian Eno art is
everything you don t have to do (Eno, 2015, 14m. 30s.) fails in the face of artefacts which would

A short term compensatory response for respiratory acidosis might include an immediate slight
increase in bicarbonate levels. Another example of compensation would be hyperventilation as a
response to metabolic acidosis. The compensatory response for respiratory alkalosis is a fall in the
bicarbonate level in chronic respiratory alkalosis this is achieved through renal excretion over time,
while in an acute state, lower levels of CO2 produce a slight decrease of HCO3 . The compensatory
response for metabolic alkalosis is hypoventilation. If all three values are abnormal, the patient is in a
partially compensated state because the buffer is actively working to push the equation to equilibrium
to obtain a normal pH value. If the pH is normal and the CO2 and HCO3 are both abnormal, the
patient is in a fully compensated state. If the pH is abnormal and either the CO2 or HCO3 are
abnormal, the patient is in an uncompensated state. The overall goal of compensation is to push the

Defense Mechanisms And The Defense Mechanism
Everyone has a few coping techniques to reduce anxiety from unacceptable or even harmful impulses.
These coping techniques are performed unconsciously and they are known as defense mechanisms.
When a body uses a defense mechanism they are attempting to distort, deny, or manipulate their
reality to defend their self schema. There are a few different types of defense mechanisms many of
which classified by Anna Freud that would later appear in the works of Sigmund Freud. The
psychiatrist George Eman Vaillant introduced a way of organizing the mechanisms into a system of
levels. The level system is as follows: level I is about pathological defences, level II explains
immature defences, level III neurotic defences, and lastly level IV mature defences. An individual
could use multiple different defense mechanisms from different levels though. For example a person
could be using an immature defense mechanism such as regression and a mature mechanism like
humor. This essay will delve into the description of these levels and the defense mechanisms they
contain. Pathological defenses usually occur from someone who unconsciously preserves their
traditional aspects of life. They will think very totalistic and rigidly since they are trying to preserve
what they believe they won t make any compromises. One pathological defense mechanism would be
projection. Projection occurs when someone has a value that says they should act a certain way, then
their value is challenged and

ritual is initiation for adolescents who are entering adulthood by teaching boys to be good husbands

Answer 1.
In elecronic, broadcast, transportation, filters are used to select the desired signal, and deny or block
unwanted signals. Or put in other words, they may be the only way we have to block. The doing so, we
want to signal and other frequency or with a device, is frequency selective it behave different towards
different frequencies. Such device is called a filter. (Bertrand, 2002)
Irrespective of the mechanism by which the filler does its job, filters can be broken down into four
basic types.
1. Low pass filter
2. High pass filter
3. Band pass filter

Mixer:
Mixer is an active or passive device, from a switching signal Frequency to another. It can be adjusted
or the demodulated signal. It has three signals Connection, which is called a port in the language of
radio engineers. There are three ports. It is the RF input, a local oscillator input, and intermediate
Frequency output. (NA, NA)
Here Figure (a) show up conversion and figure (b) show down conversion:
Dual band (DSB) signal comprising on the lower sideband, and a single sideband (SSB) signal may be
generated by filtering or by using a single sideband mixer.
Single sideband modulation may be viewed as the removal or reduction of the amplitude modulation
signal component. In order to see how the SSB is created, it is necessary to use an amplitude
modulated signal as a starting point. (Rosu, NA)
Amplitude modulated carrier
It shows sidebands on either side of the carrier
From this it can be seen, the signal having the two sidebands, each other s mirror, and a carrier. To
improve the efficiency of the signal, both in terms of power and spectrum use, carriers can be
removed, or at least reduce it, and remove one sideband one is a mirror. (Poole,

My Post-Test Scores Analysis
Looking at the form to compare my pre test scores to my post test scores surprised me. I thought since
I could only ride the bus twice as well as have this class my endurance would be better. So the 12
minute run, I could not meet my goal of going further. I ran less in my post test compared to my pre
test by almost a full track lap. While the push ups and the sit ups I did better in my post test. I did not
do anything very different with my movement or exercise routine to do better with my strength. I was
trying to focus on my endurance since it shows that I am out of shape. Second thing I wanted to bring
up was that I may not have ran further in my post test I did native I was able to run a little bit longer,

I will always try to keep mindful when it concerns my overall wellness because as you age your health

few ways to prevent the delicate of wellness. I am going to keep doing the three daily goals I set for
myself . I think I want to add eating a vegetable everyday. I do not like vegetables so I want to add
that to my daily goal. Also add maybe counting my steps. Since I limited the number of time I can ride
the bus, I am walking more, I am starting to be curious on how much am I walking and see if I am
able to walk a little but further than the day before. Some people s way of motivation is through being

Counting my steps will not be hard I just need to get a step counter to put on my jeans, or download a
step counter app. Some challenges I will be facing are one, when I go home I work 40 plus hours, I
tend to move a lot at work, running from the front end to the back of the store, to lifting heavy items
for customers, to running errands for managers. So I automatically think I don;t need to go to the gym

Essay about Deaf Culture
Deaf Culture
I may not be considered part of the hearing culture due to my severe to profound hearing loss, but
some people might be surprised to hear that I am not considered a part of the Deaf culture. A majority
of the Deaf culture is very critical of those who assimilate with hearing people and accept hearing
culture as their majority culture. I believe that every hearing impaired and deaf person is an individual
and needs to do what is best for them instead of being worried about following the rules of the Deaf
culture.
The members of Deaf culture have many different levels of hearing that range from profoundly deaf to
slightly hard of hearing (Halpern). However, none of the members of the Deaf culture consider
themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Deaf community is a community where they can feel like they actually belong and feel accepted.
Deaf culture tends to be critical of deaf people who embrace hearing culture. They consider these
people traitors. One of the reasons why the Deaf community looks down at someone who rejects their
Deaf identity is because they feel that the person is leaving behind a rich culture, not a disability
(Halpern). Deaf culture has a sign for hearing that is done in front of the mouth. When they want to
make an insult to deaf or hearing impaired people whom accept their own majority culture as the
hearing culture they make the same motion for hearing in front of the forehead instead of the mouth.
This is supposed to mean who ever they are talking about is hearing in the head (Halpern). This sign is
meant to be an insult to those people who associate with hearing culture.
It is easy to see why Deaf culture is so critical of those who assimilate with hearing culture because
the Deaf have had a history of struggle and discrimination. Hearing culture has been critical of what
Deaf people are able to do and have denied their existence. In the past American deaf people have
been denied the right to vote, to marry, and to raise children (Halpern). Deaf children often were
denied education, grew up illiterate, or grew up with no real language because at one point in time
sign language was not allowed (Halpern).

Credit Sesame Commercial Meaning
The ad that caught my ear was a commercial on the Logo TV Channel (Channel 254 on Dish
Network) during an episode of The Nanny that was promoting the product Credit Sesame. The
commercial begins with a woman sitting on a couch saying, It seems like everybody wants to give you
a free credit score these days. Okay, I got my score. Now what? Then, she explains that Credit Sesame
is a service that gives consumers a free credit score, but also shows them what is impacting their score
and gives them a strategy to improve their credit score. The woman also highlights the fact that Credit
Sesame can also suggest credit cards that can help consumers save money. Finally, she ends by joking,

Even though the advertisement was only thirty seconds long, the advertisement stuck with me because
of the humorous line at the end of the commercial that caught my attention. Another marketing
strategy used in the ad was using fear. The ad seemed to be designed to invoke a sense of fear into
consumers that just knowing their credit score was not enough, and that Credit Sesame would be the
perfect solution to subside those fears of the unknown. Additionally, Credit Sesame seems to be using
the marketing strategy of repetition. With the commercial being only thirty seconds long, Credit
Sesame can air the advertisement more often I have seen this commercial often on this channel and
others. The advertisement was also slightly louder than the television show I was watching, which is a
famously unpopular marketing strategy; however, the volume change was only apparent to me when I
reviewed the ad a few times for this assignment. Finally, the advertisers used bright colors and
graphics to make the television commercials eye catching. I do not own the product that the
advertisement is promoting, but these marketing strategies have almost swayed me into checking out
Credit Sesame. However, after learning about restraint in making purchases in Personal Finance, I will
do some research beforehand to make sure that the product is legitimate and safe to

The Road Not Taken Rhyme Scheme
In the poem, there is a traveler who has to make a choice of what road to take. One which is grassy
and wanted wear and the other who is mainly taken by the travelers. The choice the traveler has to
make can relate to an everyday problem to anybody.
In the first stanza it ,states that the author(traveler) has to make a choice on what road to take. The
poem states both the roads diverged into a yellow wood. He also states he is sorry for I couldn t travel
both. He said he looked down as far as I could, until it bent in the undergrowth. The choices he has to
make relates to everyday choices. An example of how it relates to an everyday thing is, someone in
life has to choose the right group of people to hang out with, and whether to study or not. Choices are
a big part of life everyone has to make choices, sometimes the best choice is not the best.
In the second stanza, it talks about the traveler taking the path that wasn t taken as often as the first
trial. And having perhaps the better claim. I feel like that means like it was a better trial because it had
more obstacles, and more challenges to overcome. He also states because it was grassy and wanted
wear. To me that sounds sorta like the trial wants more people to take that trial. The choices this
person has to take are very much like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with relief and that he made the best choice on what path to take. It also says I took the one less

him and it had the best outcome. That relates to everyday life because, people have to make a choice
and at the end of the day it might not be the best choice for that person. Then some choices at the end

Otherwise, simply replacing the hammer can be done by most people, with the right tools. Step 1

choreographed, and I knew that if we pulled it off perfectly, we would have no problems. Surely, I
thought, God would bless us for a fifth time. Unfortunately, two days before the competition, a
teammate of mine got injured during one of our practices. At first, we all thought it was a sprain, but it
turned out that she had fractured her ankle. It was the same day of prom, so most of us were blissfully

Shankman s View Of War
Shankman discusses the view of the war, and the sinking of the Maine, from the perspective of the
Methodist church. Throughout the church there was varying opinions of the explosion and the war
itself. Some people believed that the war would be necessary, while others believed there was no need
for a war. IN an editorial from a New York Methodist newspaper in April 1898: Should we now go to
war, insisted the Syracuse Northern Christian Advocate, our cause will be just, and Methodism will be
ready to do its full duty. Every Methodist preacher will be a recruiting officer (Shankman, 1973).
However, in the south, the Southern Christian Advocate pushed for people to help send aid to the
Cubans that are refugees and on the island; some groups even set up soup kitchens and churches
donated some money as charity. These opinions helped spread the divide after the attack on the Maine:
Generally, the Methodist press advised that rash accusations were unjust and foolish. The Nashville
Christian Advocate suspected that the explosion had been the work of a misguided Spaniard or
resulted from a fire on the Maine, and it thought that all premature judgments on the cause of the
sinking did more harm than good. (Shankman, 1973)
That view did not last long, by April 14 it was believed that the sinking of the USS Maine was not a
mere accident, The Atlanta Wesleyan Christian Advocate first believed that Spanish perfidy had
caused the catastrophe but later decided some hotheads

The Positive And Negative Implications Of Social...
The positive and negative implications of social networking sites. Introduction Social networking sites
have become a big part of our lives. These sites are indeed twofold, and their impact on society is both
positive and negative. My essay will, therefore try to answer both sides of the impact social
networking sites have in today s culture. A website article by (Shruti Tripathi Chopra 2015) stated that
in 2008 Facebook made and estimated $300 million, that rose to a profit in 2014 of $2.9. The positive
implications of social networking sites have no boundaries. Communication between people in the
past was, either over the phone or via letter, just to mention a few. (Pewinternet.org 2005) published
that just 7% of American adults used social networking sites, and then rising to 65% by 2015. As a
result, in this growth and popularity, jobs have been created to meet the demands of social networking
sites. It was surely inevitable, that the growth and impact of social networking sites would influence
how most of us live our lives today. A great way to share your recent photographs, ideas, general chat
or just keep in contact with loved ones who live far away, is through the social networking sites. This
being a very positive side, it has all but demolished the barriers that prevented loved ones from
frequent contact. Many, if not all academic institutes have embraced these sites, and they use them to
inform the public of current happening at their institute. This in many ways

Enron s Business Risks Is When They Entered Into A Number...
Enron s business risks is when they entered into a number of aggressive transactions involving special
purpose entities SPEs. The underlying account was questionable and/or fraudulent. Some of the
transactions essentially involved Enron receiving borrowed funds without recording the liabilities on
the company s balance sheet. Instead, the inflow of funds were made to look like it came from the sale
of assets. This risk made the liabilities on the financial misleading to investors and customers because
it made Enron look like they were making more than what they actually were making in profit.
SPEs are separate legal entities set up to accomplish specific company objective. They become a
synonymous with Enron s collapse because these entities were at the center of Enron s aggressive
accounting methods. SPEs were used by Enron to sell off assets. The SPE would pay for the
contributed assets through a new debt or equity issuance. SPEs can serve as a legitimate business
purpose, it is apparent the Enron used a large network of SPEs, with complicated speculations and

balance sheet. Enron had hundreds of SPEs. Three of the Enron s SPEs were made prominent
throughout the legal process. Chewco, LJM2, and Whitewing. Chewco was established in 1997 by
Enron executives in connection with a complicated investment in another Enron partnership with

The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living
The unexamined life is not worth living. (Apology, 41e) Socrates held this statement to himself to a
point where he allowed the courts to take his life because they don t want him to continue his quest of
insights, questions and knowledge. The philosophy of Socrates as explained by Plato offers an
important concept of what it means to live the examined life and what makes a life either examined or
unexamined. The combination of Euthyphro, The Apology and the Republic help understand what
Socrates means when he says that the unexamined life is not worth living, proving it what he believed,
a valid statement. What Socrates means by an unexamined life, is we are just coasting through and not
making any decisions or asking any questions. What Socrates means by living the examined life, that
it s logical when people are striving to know themselves and to understand our lives if they have any
meaning or value to them. An examined life would be trying to understand your purpose of why you
are here and what you are presently thinking. By examining your life, you therefore are understanding
yourself and will not be subject to actions motivated by passion or instinct.Socrates uses examples
defending his case about the unexamined life. That is because I am so desirous of your wisdom, and I
concentrate my mind on it, so that no word of yours may fall to the ground. (Euthyphro, 18d) Socrates
could not see a point in living if you were unable to ask questions and challenge your way

Modern Femininity And Gender Roles
Though Hannah Höch may be a jack of all trades in the art realm having dabbled in painting, drawing,
printmaking, textiles, pattern making, and photography she certainly is a master of collage. A German
artist of the 20th century, Höch is primarily known for her turbulent romantic relationship with Czech
artist Raoul Hausmann, one of the founders of the Berlin Dada movement. Hausmann credited himself
and Höch as the inventors of photomontage. Höch uses her collages to comment and critique the
unstable sociopolitical state in Germany at the time. Her collages also highlight the growth of mass
media and new technology. Perhaps most importantly, Höch challenges the concept of modern
femininity and gender roles through her work. As the only female Berlin Dada artist, Hannah Höch
takes a unique and important perspective on the social and political changes occurring in 20th century
Germany. Höch was born in 1889 in Gotha, Germany. She moved to Berlin in 1912 to study
calligraphy, embroidery, wallpaper design, and graphic art (National Museum of Women in the Arts).
In 1915, she met Raoul Hausmann, with whom she had a seven year relationship. From 1916 to 1926,
she worked in the handicrafts department of a magazine and newspaper publishing company. Her
work included designing knitting, crocheting, and embroidering patterns. Later on, she incorporated
lace and embroidery patterns in her photomontages juxtaposing these traditional women s crafts with
modern culture. In 1926,

Music of the Sixties Essay
Music in the Sixties
The music of the sixties went through tremendous change. It shaped mush of the music we hear today.
From New Orleans came Jazz, from the East Coast came rock, from the West Coast came Psychedelic
rock, and from England came the Invasion.
In 1963 the Beatles shattered the dreariness of the music business. And with them came rock, the
music of the sixties, and a music quite different from rock n roll. The jazz era had slowly faded away
and in came the Beatles, possibly the most influential group of musicians ever to play. Producing a
new sound soon dubbed the Liverpool sound ; this sound would go on to revolutionize the entire
sixties era. Along with the Beatles cam the shaggy hairstyles by men and the lower ... Show more

This would end up in the band receiving FM radio play in which they would show up for interviews.
The band s popularity would spread by local underground press and word of mouth. This same
formula was key in building the Jeff Beck Group, Jethro Tull, Joe Cocker, and Led Zeppelin. Music
was beginning to take a step in a different direction.
Another area that new music was beginning to develop was in the slums of San Francisco. The Haight
Ashbury district would spawn acts such as Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, and the Grateful Dead.
San Francisco had developed a consciousness about rock. Janis Joplin left in 1967 and traveled to
Texas where she found her claim to fame. Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead stayed in Sna
Francisco playing in small theatres and venues. The most famous of these was the Filmore West. The
combination of this improvisational rock bands and psychedelic drugs produced a subculture never
seen before. The hippies had invaded the United States. Jimi Hendrix helped pave this new style of
music. He challenged people with his extensions of the guitar into all sorts of realms that had been
overlooked, ignored, or undiscovered. The improvisational rock was strongly supported by an
underground force that helped the band in many ways. They gained the band popularity by spreading

  • 2. A Proposal to Implement a Gigabit Internet Setup for ABC... IT Proposal The proposal attached herein this report proposes the cheapest and most cost effective way to implement a Gigabit internet setup for ABC Inc s offices. Since all of the offices and workstations in question are within 150 feet of the company s wiring closet, it will not take a lot of infrastructure to get the job done. However, ABC should not cheap out and get the bare minimum setup either. Proposed Equipment As for the cabling that would be required to get Gigabit internet, or 1000 megabits per second, that would call for either Category 5+, 5e or 6. Any one of those three is technically capable of supporting Gigabit speeds. All three have been out for some time now and it would be best to go ahead and spend the extra amount, although not too much extra, on the category 6 cable. If this is done, it is extremely unlikely that any re cabling would have to occur for the foreseeable future (Lowe, 2002). The reason the author of this proposal would highly recommend category 6 is because gigabit internet is the fastest that 5 and 5e can run at. As such, if there is any increase in the speed of the other internet equipment in the coming years, an upgrade to speeds would require re cabling of the actual network cable as well and that day is coming sooner than one may think. Using 5 or 5e would be foolish because category 6 is not that much more expensive and category 6 can handle ten gigabit (10,000 mbps) internet at its top end ¦and that is just an estimate. It ... • 3. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plate Fin Heat Exchanger b) Counter Flow In a counter flow heat exchanger the two fluids flow parallel to each other but in opposite directions. The counter flow heat exchanger provides the most thermally effective arrangement for recovery of heat or cold from process streams. A counter flow arrangement is thermodynamically superior to any other flow arrangement. It is the most efficient flow arrangement, producing the highest temperature change in each fluid compared to any other two fluid arrangement for a given overall thermal conductance (UA), fluid flow rates and fluid inlet temperatures. Cryogenic refrigeration and liquefaction equipment use this geometry almost exclusively. But this type of heat exchangers demands proper design because of the complex geometry ... They are used in a variety of applications. They are mainly employed in the field of cryogenics for cryogenic separation and liquefaction of air, natural gas processing and liquefaction, production of petrochemicals and large refrigeration systems. The exchangers that are used for cryogenic air separation and LPG fractionation are the largest and most complex units of the plate fin type and a single unit could be of several meters in length. Brazed aluminum plate fin exchangers are widely used in the aerospace industries because of their low weight to volume ratio and compactness. They are being used mainly in environment control system of the aircraft, avionics and hydraulic oil cooling and fuel heating. Making heat exchangers as compact as possible has been an everlasting demand in automobile and air conditioning industries as both are space conscious. In the automobile sector they are used for making the radiators. The other miscellaneous applications ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. An Analysis Of Abraham Lincoln s Justified The Restriction... As a president, one s major goal is to keep the country and its people safe, regardless of what may be necessary to do in order to protect the people. Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States, had this goal in mind when he declared a State of Emergency in the U.S. in 1863, and suspended American s civil liberties such as habeas corpus. The Union and the safety of Americans were more important to President Lincoln than civil liberties, and restricting them was necessary. The rebellion and invasion of Confederates justified the restriction of civil liberties because the safety of American citizens is superior to these civil liberties. Abraham Lincoln argues that ...the inherent power of the executive justifies using whatever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Rosewood Chocolate Industry Rosewood, a name recognized by most and was considered almost as highly as the Queen. Well, that was, until they went entirely bankrupt. The Rosewood s were a company that produced the highest quality sweets in all of England, but for decent prices, however this was how they stayed in business for nearly a decade but they were outdone by the Jeffries that started to make the same quality of candies for even less money. That was the true downfall of the Rosewood chocolate industry. With the fall of the company, cash began to dwindle and their normally weighted wallets began to get lighter and lighter. This happened until their house was foreclosed on, and they were practically dragged from their manor with a whole lot of screaming of course. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though, for little Arthur, this had the greatest toll. Moving from a large mansion, in the country, to a small, in city, flat was a major change. Yet, this was not the worst so far. The worst surprisingly was the fact he was going to have to start to wash himself and help clean with his mum. Dan found this topic confusing, so now he stood over the water filled sink with wide eyes, nails dug into a dishrag they had gotten from a shop from the outer city. How was he to do this? Mum was out doing some garden work for the woman down the road, picking flowers for a few pounds and father was out trying to get a job in a corporation that made low end clothing. This was the least small Danny could do to help them out. He had to figure this out, he thought, he needed to be a big boy and get himself together. Alright. He cleared his throat, placing his cloth to the side of the sink, his little hands trembling as he lowered them to the dishes. He felt sick. It smelled putrid and looked grimy. Though he lost his money, he still held his dignity and snobby attitude. Ew! He jerked back once he came contact with a little splat of old tomato sauce, wiping his fingers on the side of his ... • 6. How Social Work Affects The Lives Of Becoming A Social Worker Social Work is a diverse field, which grants the worker the chance to touch a wide kind of people. The range of social work is widespread that a worker could work with one population or many, depending on the workers goals. In addition, it permits the worker with the ability to divulge into their life passions. An individual requires a passion for the work they do because it is what pushes the desire to help. It is important to explore what one is passionate about while embarking on the journey of becoming a social worker. Obtaining an MSW degree helps to insure that the person who possesses it will be able to explore the many pathways of social work. An individual with an MSW could become a professor, do clinical social work, forensic social work or throw their hat into the political arena. With all these different areas, narrowing down to one pathway might prove difficult. While the goal might be to participate in every path that social work offers, one could still find sole passion in a single population. One s passion can be discovered in a variety of ways. Their passion could have emerged as a child, through their education, through their job or through their internships. My passion for social work started when I was a child. I knew at a young age that I wanted to provide support and help for people. I was not always certain what form of reinforcement and help I wanted to provide but I knew I wanted to help people learn and mature from the matters and challenges ... • 7. Different Impacts on Religion Close to one hundred and fifty years apart, both Louis XIV Edict of Fontainebleau and Luther s Address to the Christian Nobility of the German Nation had an immense impact on religion. Martin Luther s document would pave the way for the Protestant Reformation, while Louis XIV would revoke all the freedoms that the Huguenots enjoyed in a Catholic France with the Edict of Nantes. This essay will compare and contrast these distinctions and their impact on religion. Therefore, although years apart, these two documents lead a paradigm shift, address what they believe to be evils plaguing their lands, and put power in the hands of the temporal authorities. The renowned individuals, King Louis XIV and Martin Luther, led a paradigm shift with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Pope s anointment and all his religious rites (unction, tonsure, ordination, consecration) all made him a puppet and not what a real leader of the Catholic Church should have been. Luther quoted St. Peter who said, Thus we are all consecrated as, priests by baptism , which meant all the citizens are equal under God s eyes. Every Christian is baptized and has the ability to absolve their sins and Luther believed that with indulgences, the Church has destroyed the great virtue of these privileges. The second wall attacked the Church considering them to be Master of Scriptures . He felt that if the real justice of God is found in the bible, then the Pope cannot be the only one right in interpreting scriptures. Luther explained that if this was the case, then we must say, I believe in the Pope of Rome, and reduce the Christian Church to one man, which is a devilish and damnable heresy. Luther went about this on his own as he translated the Bible into German, published the 95 theses, and with the help of the printing press, made the word of God available to thousands of people. The third and final wall, Luther believed to be the easiest to overcome. He believed that the Church needed to be held accountable if people felt that they are acting contrary to the scriptures. • 8. Figurative Language In Erik Larson s Devil In The White City A Tale of Two Cities Serbian poet, Dejan Stojanovic, once stated, Devil and God two sides of the same face. When looking at Chicago during the Columbian Exposition, there were two sides of Chicago known as the white city and the black city. The white city was the fairgrounds where the World Fair occurred. The black city, however, is the rest of Chicago where the crime, poverty, disease, and filth was represented. Erik Larson constructs the black and white city in Devil in the White City by incorporating figurative language, imagery, and juxtaposition. One of Erik Larson s main ways of building the black and white cities is through figurative language. Larson expresses that Chicago is likened...to a human being with his skin removed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using descriptive diction such as eerie and swamp readers can imagine an unpleasant city rustling with filth and crime. Larson exposes that Chicago had auras of mosquitoes in its midst. Readers automatically see Chicago as a filthy and troublesome town when they associate it with mosquitoes. This view of Chicago created by Larson further achieves his purpose to show the downside of Chicago during the time the World Fair was being constructed and attended. When the World Fair was finished, Larson described the nights, the lamps that laced every building and walkway produced the most elaborate demonstration of electric illumination ever attempted (254). Larson says the lamps laced the walkways in the white city which allows readers to picture the city in a whimsical way. The feeling of the word laced sits with readers in a positive way. Thus, Larson can achieve the purpose of forcing readers to see the white city in a luxurious fashion. Also, Larson mentions that the lighting was elaborate. Readers see the white city as a sophisticated and lavish place rather than how they see the black city. Larson again is able to persuade readers into believing the magic of the white city. Larson calls upon imagery to construct the two sides of Chicago. Larson deploys juxtaposition to build the two views of Chicago. Larson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the United States we currently use a progressive tax system, meaning that high income earners pay taxes at a higher rate than low income earners. A flat tax rate is a tax system with a constant marginal rate, which is applied to individual income. There are various tax systems that are labeled a flat tax even though they are significantly different. A true flat rate tax is a system of taxation where one tax rate is applied to all personal income with no deductions. A flat tax is a tax that is applied at a consistent rate with no variables in its application. In contrast with progressive or regressive taxes, where the rate that is applied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the true sense of the word, these are actually progressive tax plans, but they fall in between the current progressive plan and a strictly constant marginal rate. PROS 1. Simplicity considered a significant benefit of the flat tax system. One tax rate makes for easy computation by the Internal Revenue Service and straightforward payments from taxpayers. 2. Because the flat tax taxes only one income, it is easier to understand and to report. 3. The flat tax eliminates global taxation and allows the United States to compete more evenly in global markets. 4. This tax system does not discriminate based on income level; everyone pays the same percent of income. 5. An advantage of a flat tax is that no one receives special treatment; all people whether poor or rich are taxed in exactly the same way. 6. Would result in considerable savings to all parties; the time and energy businesses and individuals spend annually in preparing tax forms would be greatly reduced, as would the costs to the government of collecting revenue. 7. The Internal Revenue Service could be substantially downsized. 8. For tax payers, the financial cost of complying with regulations set by the IRS is high. 9. With a flat tax system, a section of the tax code biased against capital formation, death tax, capital gains tax and double taxation of savings and dividends would be removed. 10. Miller s Death of a Salesman and Williams Streetcar Named Desire both explore how the two main protagonists, Willy Loman and Blanche Dubois cannot adjust to the new society which has changed drastically around them. Willy Loman is a father, desperate to hold on to the life he once lived when he was younger. Throughout the play, we see how Willy s state of mind deteriorates as the play goes on. Likewise, A Streetcar Named Desire portrays the ways in which Blanche, who represents old values in the old world who believes women should be treated as ladies, attempts to hide from the reality which she is unable to avoid. • 14. What Is The Difference Between Men And Women Deborah Tannen Women versus Men: The Art of Miscommunication There is often miscommunication between the sexes, whether it is spouses, friends, siblings, or parents. The miscommunication between the sexes is not intentional; it is simply because of the differences in the way men and women think and interact. In Deborah Tannen s essay, But What Do You Mean?, Tannen identifies the seven primary differences in which men and women interact. Of the seven differences between women and men interactions than Tannen points out, the most notable ones that I have seen to be true are apologies, jokes, and criticism. Apologizing is, from what I have seen growing up, probably the most misunderstood. Tannen points out in her essay that women use the term I m sorry as a way for both parties in a conversation to take part of the blame, and show equal footing or to show that it is okay. I have seen plenty of examples of this, especially with my grandma and my aunt. When my grandma would forget something, she would apologize, then my aunt would say that it s okay, and then she would apologize to my grandma. Growing up, I did not understand why my aunt would apologize, as it was not her fault, but reading Tannen explain it in her essay, I understand that she was just saying it to tell my grandma that it is okay and not to worry about it. Another reason that I have personally seen women apologize more that Tannen did not elaborate on, is that when women are in conversations about something bad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction This dissertation examines the persistence of ancient symbols from Neolithic and Pictish eras and the ways in which they reappear in Scottish art. The discussion takes the form of a hypothetical exhibition which brings together examples of art from many periods and in a variety of formats. Rugoff (2006, p.46) states exhibitions need to ask interesting questions, even unanswerable questions, instead of handing us tidy answers . By bringing together cultural artefacts and works of art in one venue this exhibition raises questions about how objects come to be defined as art and whether our definitions depend on the context within which an object is viewed. The audience reached by this multi perspective approach will therefore be a wide one, including those interested in Scotland and its history as well as those with an interest in art and creative processes. 2. The Exhibition Thesis: how we decide what is Art The ancient artefacts in the exhibition include works widely separated by great periods of time, and works which have been altered by succeeding generations. For millennia the oldest works were simply there , and part of folklore. From the eighteenth century they began to be viewed as being of antiquarian interest; later they were taken into the care of professional organisations, and later still they began to be considered as a form of art . The exhibition acknowledges the uncertainties surrounding their original purpose. Presenting them in an artistic context, it demonstrates that our definitions of what constitutes art are also problematical. The compensatory response for metabolic alkalosis is hypoventilation. • 19. Defense Mechanisms And The Defense Mechanism Everyone has a few coping techniques to reduce anxiety from unacceptable or even harmful impulses. These coping techniques are performed unconsciously and they are known as defense mechanisms. When a body uses a defense mechanism they are attempting to distort, deny, or manipulate their reality to defend their self schema. There are a few different types of defense mechanisms many of which classified by Anna Freud that would later appear in the works of Sigmund Freud. The psychiatrist George Eman Vaillant introduced a way of organizing the mechanisms into a system of levels. The level system is as follows: level I is about pathological defences, level II explains immature defences, level III neurotic defences, and lastly level IV mature defences. An individual could use multiple different defense mechanisms from different levels though. For example a person could be using an immature defense mechanism such as regression and a mature mechanism like humor. This essay will delve into the description of these levels and the defense mechanisms they contain. Pathological defenses usually occur from someone who unconsciously preserves their traditional aspects of life. They will think very totalistic and rigidly since they are trying to preserve what they believe they won t make any compromises. One pathological defense mechanism would be projection. I was extremely nervous. We did our best, but it turned out that our best wasn t enough. I spent the rest of the day crying my eyes out, knowing that we had lost. I clung onto a tiny shred ... • 29. Shankman s View Of War Shankman discusses the view of the war, and the sinking of the Maine, from the perspective of the Methodist church. Throughout the church there was varying opinions of the explosion and the war itself. Some people believed that the war would be necessary, while others believed there was no need for a war. IN an editorial from a New York Methodist newspaper in April 1898: Should we now go to war, insisted the Syracuse Northern Christian Advocate, our cause will be just, and Methodism will be ready to do its full duty. Every Methodist preacher will be a recruiting officer (Shankman, 1973). However, in the south, the Southern Christian Advocate pushed for people to help send aid to the Cubans that are refugees and on the island; some groups even set up soup kitchens and churches donated some money as charity. These opinions helped spread the divide after the attack on the Maine: Generally, the Methodist press advised that rash accusations were unjust and foolish. The Nashville Christian Advocate suspected that the explosion had been the work of a misguided Spaniard or resulted from a fire on the Maine, and it thought that all premature judgments on the cause of the sinking did more harm than good. (Shankman, 1973) That view did not last long, by April 14 it was believed that the sinking of the USS Maine was not a mere accident, The Atlanta Wesleyan Christian Advocate first believed that Spanish perfidy had caused the catastrophe but later decided some hotheads ... • 30. The Positive And Negative Implications Of Social... The positive and negative implications of social networking sites. Introduction Social networking sites have become a big part of our lives. These sites are indeed twofold, and their impact on society is both positive and negative. My essay will, therefore try to answer both sides of the impact social networking sites have in today s culture. A website article by (Shruti Tripathi Chopra 2015) stated that in 2008 Facebook made and estimated $300 million, that rose to a profit in 2014 of $2.9. The positive implications of social networking sites have no boundaries. Communication between people in the past was, either over the phone or via letter, just to mention a few. (Pewinternet.org 2005) published that just 7% of American adults used social networking sites, and then rising to 65% by 2015. As a result, in this growth and popularity, jobs have been created to meet the demands of social networking sites. It was surely inevitable, that the growth and impact of social networking sites would influence how most of us live our lives today. A great way to share your recent photographs, ideas, general chat or just keep in contact with loved ones who live far away, is through the social networking sites. This being a very positive side, it has all but demolished the barriers that prevented loved ones from frequent contact. Many, if not all academic institutes have embraced these sites, and they use them to inform the public of current happening at their institute. This in many ways ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Enron s Business Risks Is When They Entered Into A Number... Enron s business risks is when they entered into a number of aggressive transactions involving special purpose entities SPEs. The underlying account was questionable and/or fraudulent. Some of the transactions essentially involved Enron receiving borrowed funds without recording the liabilities on the company s balance sheet. Instead, the inflow of funds were made to look like it came from the sale of assets. This risk made the liabilities on the financial misleading to investors and customers because it made Enron look like they were making more than what they actually were making in profit. SPEs are separate legal entities set up to accomplish specific company objective. They become a synonymous with Enron s collapse because these entities were at the center of Enron s aggressive accounting methods. SPEs were used by Enron to sell off assets. • 32. The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living The unexamined life is not worth living. (Apology, 41e) Socrates held this statement to himself to a point where he allowed the courts to take his life because they don t want him to continue his quest of insights, questions and knowledge. The philosophy of Socrates as explained by Plato offers an important concept of what it means to live the examined life and what makes a life either examined or unexamined. The combination of Euthyphro, The Apology and the Republic help understand what Socrates means when he says that the unexamined life is not worth living, proving it what he believed, a valid statement. What Socrates means by an unexamined life, is we are just coasting through and not making any decisions or asking any questions. What Socrates means by living the examined life, that it s logical when people are striving to know themselves and to understand our lives if they have any meaning or value to them. An examined life would be trying to understand your purpose of why you are here and what you are presently thinking. By examining your life, you therefore are understanding yourself and will not be subject to actions motivated by passion or instinct.Socrates uses examples defending his case about the unexamined life. That is because I am so desirous of your wisdom, and I concentrate my mind on it, so that no word of yours may fall to the ground. (Euthyphro, 18d) Socrates could not see a point in living if you were unable to ask questions and challenge your way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Modern Femininity And Gender Roles Though Hannah Höch may be a jack of all trades in the art realm having dabbled in painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, pattern making, and photography she certainly is a master of collage. A German artist of the 20th century, Höch is primarily known for her turbulent romantic relationship with Czech artist Raoul Hausmann, one of the founders of the Berlin Dada movement. Hausmann credited himself and Höch as the inventors of photomontage. Höch uses her collages to comment and critique the unstable sociopolitical state in Germany at the time. Her collages also highlight the growth of mass media and new technology. Perhaps most importantly, Höch challenges the concept of modern femininity and gender roles through her work. As the only female Berlin Dada artist, Hannah Höch takes a unique and important perspective on the social and political changes occurring in 20th century Germany. Höch was born in 1889 in Gotha, Germany. She moved to Berlin in 1912 to study calligraphy, embroidery, wallpaper design, and graphic art (National Museum of Women in the Arts). In 1915, she met Raoul Hausmann, with whom she had a seven year relationship. From 1916 to 1926, she worked in the handicrafts department of a magazine and newspaper publishing company. Her work included designing knitting, crocheting, and embroidering patterns. Later on, she incorporated lace and embroidery patterns in her photomontages juxtaposing these traditional women s crafts with modern culture. In 1926, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1963 the Beatles shattered the dreariness of the music business. And with them came rock, the music of the sixties, and a music quite different from rock n roll. For as long as I can remember every action is competition school, sports, and even the way things are done. I physically and mentally do the impossible to be one of the best. Running two miles after finishing basketball practice or staying a hour after to work on my shot. I work so hard I forget I play so have fun.I have come to the conclusion that some things are better done without competition. Senior night for volleyball is around the corner. It is not the day and already my mind is thinking about the million things that can go wrong and right. With every competitive thought I try squeezing a positive thought about the fun of my very last home volleyball game. Being competitive makes me stumble and being competitive made me, me. Five years old, short, and uncoordinated I used every moment to be better. I tried my hardest to be the best and do the best. I would race my six year old brother, Rigo, running as fast as my little legs could move. Breathing heavily and legs feeling like jello I would race him over and over again. I was a determined little girl that was going to beat him in that twenty five yard grass in the front lawn. Being competitive made me fast and a hard worker. When math minutes came to Grand View Elementary I was eight to ten years old. I was excited for this new challenge. Waiting anxiously and sweaty hands. Ready, set go! the teacher announces as she starts the timer. The second the teacher said go pencil in hand, I flipped the paper and starting answering questions one by one. The Mrs. Fields store concept quickly expanded to a national and international level. With more than 500 Mrs. Fields cookie stores in 25 states and five countries on four continents, Mrs. Fields Cookies was dependent on a corporate structure that was technologically advanced. The company s organizational strategy included a flat organizational structure feel and a management control system that put as much decision making and intelligence into the store level PC as is necessary to free the manager to do those things that uniquely people do (HBS, p.6).
