wears, the girl seems almost immediately to be a person of great value and importance. It may seem,
too, at first glance, that Dee s mother and sister, Maggie, in their tin roof house and shabby clothing,
are of little or no worth in Everyday Use. The story ironically shows, under more careful thought, that
the very outer characteristics which deem Dee the more valuable character are the ones which prove
that the mother and Maggie have the more powerful inner worth.

I chose to do a book report about Jack the Ripper because he is the best known name for a
serial killer. Also I think it would be interesting to learn about how he chose who he killed and
why he chose to kill them.
My summary of the book is that the book told me information about the victims of Jack the
Ripper. The book even gave me information about the policemen involved in solving who Jack
the Ripper was and about the witnesses and ordinary people who got caught up in all the

Every time that he murdered someone it would keep getting worse and worse. Mary Nichols
was the first victim he slit her throat and killed her August 31st, 1888. Annie Chapman was the
Second victim he took her womb, he killed her on September 8th, 1888. Elizabeth Stride was
the third victim, he slit her throat, that was it. They think he was interrupted, he killed her
on September 30th, 1888. Katherine Eddowes was the 4th victim he took her uterus and
Kidney, then shredded her face, he murdered her September 30th, 1888. Mary Kelly,
she was skinned to the bone when they found in her room she was his 5th victim, killed on
November 9th 1888. All these women where prostitutes.
Jack the Ripper is significant to history because he was one of the most famous serial killers.
He wasn t the first, but he was the first to be written about. He was in the newspapers
everyday. They never knew anything about him except what was written about him. He left his
victims out in the open. He wanted to be known, he wanted to be famous. Over time they lost
a lot of evidence. They never found out who Jack the Ripper

My first topic is an avalanche that many soldiers died in because they were fighting for their country. This takes place in the time of WWI. This particular avalanche killed an estimate of 9,000 soldiers who were in its path. Witnesses say the avalanches were sometimes used as a weapon to kill the enemies on the mountain, soldiers that survived say the condition on the mountain was worse than the actual fighting itself.
