Kristallnacht ( The Night Of Broken Glass ) And Impact
Kristallnacht(The Night of Broken Glass) and Impact
Kristallnacht comes the German name Crystal Night. Kristallnacht was an event where Germans
persecuted Jews by burning down their synagogues, destroying their business, and stripping their
rights away from them; these two nights prefigured the Holocaust. The event leading up to
Kristallnacht was involving a shooting. A young Polish man named Herschel Grynszpan found out
his parents were exiled to where he was born in Hanover , Germany. For retaliation on November 7
, 1938 he shot Ernst Vom Rath. Rath lived 2 days after and died due to wounds; Hitler attended his
funeral and that day of continuing the next day . During Kristallnacht many destructive things
were done to the Jews. Over 250 synagogues and 7,000 Jewish business were burned. Any
business owned by a Jew wasn t allowed to reopen. 91 were dead and over 30,000 men were
arrested and sent to camps. The German people made Jews life a living hell and things became
harder and harder on the Jews causing them to be prohibited from certain areas of the city and
school. Only the real people and witnesses know what happened during the period of
Kristallnacht. A witness who witnessed and apart of Kristallnacht was Herbert , Jellinek. From
Herbert s point of view On November 10 ,1938 around the late part of the morning Herbert and is
father Leo, were walking home from the public bath , when from a far distance they saw the Tuner

Everything That Rises Must Converge Essay
Living in a lie: Holding on to the past A new generation has taken place and some people make
certain adjustments and can over all accept the change. Segregation was a serious issue for people,
thoughts and emotions were the last to be considered. People that were sensitive to this particular
generation just turned the other way and did not get involved. The men worked, women stayed
home, no questions were asked and everyone lived happily. In the short story, Everything That
Rises Must Converge by Flannery O Connor, is about change, acceptance and treating everyone as
equal. Desegregation has taken over and Justin s motherhas a hard time accepting this. Her
generation was living a high style life, where she had slaves and whatever she wanted was
provided. This new generation has taken a turn because she doesn t have that lifestyle anymore.
She has become racial, stubborn and her son Julian thinks he can make her change, and see the
reality they are living now. Julian s mother s actions are questionable, but she has a legitimate

Many times it consisted of making a command and it was done. Especially, if the commands
given were to black slaves. This must be hard to adjust to life now, since she is not able to have
that power anymore. Her grandfather had a plantation and owned two hundred slaves. Her father
was a former governor of his state and her mother was a Godhigh. She remembers growing up

Political Conflict In Riyadh And Iran
The latest developments that just unfolded in Riyadh are unsettling and carry a high risk of a
regional confrontation. An assertive Saudi crown prince is determined to consolidate power by
purging dissidents at home while escalating rhetoric abroad.
Such a diversionary approach, seemingly employed to shift attention away from domestic turmoil,
is challenging an emboldened Iranian regime whose armed proxies have been strengthening their
hold from the Levant to Yemen. While these circumstances are tantamount to an imminent war
scenario between Riyadh and Tehran, there are indications that it might not actually be the case.
On November 4, within the span of few hours, two major events took place: Lebanese Prime
Minister Saad Hariri ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two Saudi ambassadors in Iraq and Lebanon were appointed last week, showing a willingness to
engage. On October 25, Saudi Arabia and Iran finally agreed to have the Swiss government as a
go between for consular and diplomatic services, after breaking off diplomatic ties in early 2016.
Riyadh has returned to Iraq after a long absence, hoping to increase political influence and explore
a new market. A military confrontation with Iran is counterproductive to Saudi engagement in Iraq.
While in Syria, Saudi Arabia has been keeping a low profile with an influence restricted to elements
in the exiled civilian opposition.
Third, a confrontation is not in Iran s interest for now. The Iranian regime, which has been more
united since President Hassan Rouhani s reelection in May, is focused on reaping the economic
benefits of the nuclear deal and preserving the gains made in Syria.
Mohammad Ali Jafari, commander of Iran s Revolutionary Guard, announced on October 31 that
Iran will be restricting its long range missiles to 2,000km, which can reach Israel and US interests
in the Middle East. The move was meant to reassure European countries that are beyond that
missile range.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who visited Tehran on November 1, convinced Tehran to tone
down the rhetoric against the US. While Russia is focused on advancing a political solution in
Syria, Iran sees that the Syrian war will

Argumentative Essay On Civil Rights
Personally, I believe it is difficult to place ourselves in the shoes of the senators that were faced
with these decisions. Looking back at these speeches now, I can truly see the hard work and
mental strain that these men went through in order to place this bill. When using these speeches
as historical sources, I think we should consider several things. The time period in which they
were given, the position each Senator stood for, and the general purpose behind it. For example,
when looking at most filibusters we would not consider them as credible sources mostly because
they are used to drag out the debate and exhaust their opponents by simply reading from the
newspaper or telephone book. (pg.248) However, this was certainly not the case when regarding
the Civil Rights Bill. Each member of the Senate, on both sides, truly seemed to care about the
issue and had genuine and significant contributions regarding the issue. For fifty seven days, all

Sexual Socialization Is A Gradual Developmental Process
Sexual socialization is a gradual developmental process that occurs throughout life. familial and
social contexts influence and shape men s sexual socialization. In July of 2015, Katherine R. Allen

Education: Young Men s Perceptions of First Sexual Images, published by the Virginia Polytechnic
Institute and State University. The authors examined young men s recollection of their first

??????????? II.LITERATURE REVIEW Prior to this study, the authors discuss previous research
findings that led to them to perform the study. One of said previous research findings, Gender and
the meanings of adolescent romantic relationships: A focus on boys. (Giordano, Longmore and
Manning, 2006), is that traditional sexual scripts label girls as less sexual than boys, and in more
need of protection and sexual guidance in learning about sex. Therefore, inadvertently labeling
boys as being the exact opposite. They study how, within their own friends, boys emphasize
competition and make fun of those who express feeling and other positive emotions for girls. Most
boys connect feeling dominant with excitement. They are expected to not show feelings, and girls
are expected to be very emotional. In another previous study Too Much Too Soon? Children,
Sexualization (Bragg, Buckingham, Russell Willet), they research young people s sexual cultures,
more specifically, sexualized good. They conduct a study of how the products that retailers sell,
prematurely sexualize children. They came to the conclusion that the sexualization of children is
very common. Unfortunately, it is an old tradition to have children and young people be represented
as objects for erotic contemplation by adults. They concluded that it

Moral Of The Canterbury Tales
Now it is time to decide which tale in The Canterbury Tales, by Geoffrey Chaucer, rises above the
rest. I stated at the beginning of our journey to Canterbury that I would pick the tale that is greatest
moral teaching and in entertainment value (17). After intently listening to all of your tales, one
stood out from the others. Though many of you told stories that were offensive to other pilgrims on
the trip or told stories that had little moralsignificance, I determined that there is one that most fully
fulfills the requirements that I have set forth. I have decided that the Nun s Priest s Taleteaches the
greatest moral lesson while having great entertainment value, making the Nun s Priest the winner of
our competition.
The Nun s Priest s Tale is a beast fable, an allegory that utilizes animals with human characteristic
in order to illustrate the message. The tale follows the story of Chanticleer, a beautiful rooster
whose voice was merrier than the merry organ that plays in church, (153). One day, a fox named
Russell comes into the yard and begins complementing Chanticleer on his singing talents,
persuading him to stick out his neck and sing with his eyes closed. Because Chanticleer is so
entranced by Russell s flattery, he closes his eyes and begins to sing, allowing Russell to be able
to bite his neck and run with him into the woods. The moral of the Nun s Priest s Tale is clear:
never trust a flatterer. Chanticleers capture is the result of being careless and

Ohio State University Research Paper
I have several plans in store for after high school. I plan on attending college to earn my masters
or doctorate degree in a medical field of study.I hope to attend one of the following colleges: Ohio
State, Michigan State, or UCLA. Ohio State is located in Columbus, Ohio, Michigan State is
located in East Lansing, Michigan, and UCLA is located Los Angeles, California. When looking at
these three colleges, I will be comparing overall fees, varsity sports, student population, the size of
city where the universityis located, and the awards offered. Out of these three universities, I would
prefer the Ohio State University.
When I am looking for a college, I look at the total fees it takes to go to that college. Ohio State,
on the main campus and in state, annually costs $25,579. Ohio States total costs are lower than
both Michigan State and UCLA. Michigan State costs an average of $48,848 and UCLA costs $33,
391, which is a difference of $13,000 and $8,000. Based on the prices given for each of the colleges
I would prefer to go to Ohio State because of the lower price per year. Also, depending on my final

Analysis Of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
I attended the Maverick Theatre Company s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County
Spelling Bee. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a play about a middle school
spelling bee held in one of America s many Putnam Counties. As the bee goes on, each contestant
has to come to terms with themselves, the world around them, and growing up. The promotional
material for this production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Beedoesn t actually give
much away in terms of what the play is about. The poster, for instance, just has the name of the
play, a picture in the background of someone s anxious feet, and the tagline Winning isn t
everything... or is it? If there s a more vague poster, I don t know what it is. So, I had no real
expectations going in. I knew that there was going to be a spelling beeinvolved and that this was a
musical, and I d heard that there would be some audience participation and lots of mentions of the
word erection. That s about it. The plot of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a bit
contrived, though, wholly enjoyable. All of our characters are introduced in the first song, The
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It s a bit of a contrived way to introduce characters,
though it hardly stands out. After all, this is a musical. We expect songs as a way to advance plot,
and here we get introduced to all of our characters and their initial motivations. Starting off, they re
actually a pretty one minded group. They all have

Adoption In The Chosen Baby
James and Martha Brown went to Mrs. White s office the next day and found waiting for them a
bouncing baby girl with soft brown eyes and a happy smile. Right away they said, We love this
baby already (Wasson). As is stated in the classic children s book, The Chosen Baby, this story
serves as a common introductory tool that some adoptive families use to explain to their children
the way their family was created. The Chosen Baby shares the absolute joy that parents experience
when adopting a child and effectively helps children better understand their family dynamics.
Adoptive families are unique in that they choose their children, creating a loving foundation for a

Unfulfilled basic needs create a violation to a child s belief system. Often times, adopted children
experience voided space inside as well as an unfathomable sense of disarray (Eldridge, 62). Carla
Duncan, a 1968 adoptee, recently expressed in a personal interview her mixed emotions:
Being adopted is like a double edge sword in that on one side, I have always felt very special to
say, I am adopted , because I was chosen and hand picked. On the other hand, however, I feel
different because I am adopted. In order to be chosen, I had to realize that someone also rejected
me. Someone did not want me. Sometimes I would look for long periods of time at myself in the
mirror, wondering who it was that I was really seeing. This feeling grew with great intensity as I
became a teenager and felt that no one really understood me.
Duncan, as is proven typical of other adoptees, has also experienced the common need to express
her adoption story, only to be let down at the un interest of peers. Misunderstanding often exists as a
residual psychological effect among adoptees (Eldridge, 91). With good intentions, adoptive parents
and other influential people may unknowingly contribute to the adoptee s mixed emotions. Indeed,
simple words and statements have the ability to negatively cut to the heart, tearing down emotions.
A common misconception often used to encourage a chosen child may

Introduction As the United States strive to become a global leader in education, developing school
teachers and leaders must be the first step to achieve this goal. All the work that educational leaders
has put in on every level of our educational system has not rendered the results desired. Research

Making sure that every teacher has the ability, skill, motivation , and desire to do the job is
considered essential. When implementing a plan or transforming a culture an educational leader
must have full executive support, an effective communication plan, full employee involvement,
thorough organizational planning and completive analysis, and a widespread perceived need for the
strategic planning. Effective leadership also comes with great collaboration in an organization
internal and external. Leadership must constantly involve staff in collaboration. Early in a new
program s life a centralized focus must provide the leader a number of benefits: management of
external stakeholders, management of informational needs, funding of the program, and
management support. Providing teachers and administrative teams to collaborate on on going and
future issues will help empower and motivate to take ownership in the organization. In an
educational environment school leaders must collaborate with staff through PLC s which are team
meetings, faculty and staff meetings, school improvement committees, teacher appraisals periods
(PDAS), and even casual conversation. Lewis and Pattersson (2009) suggest that good governance
promotes excellent service in education which include an organization with appropriate standards,
good incentives, information, and accountability which foster high performance from public

Analysis Of Bradley Manning s Essay Arm Wrestling With My...
Bradley Manning s essay, Arm Wrestling With My Father , is a story describing his childhood
and his relationship with his father. Bradley emphasizes the descriptive concept of relationships
between father and son. Through vivid imagery he effectively portrays the nature of the
relationship between a child and his father. Using tone that exemplifies his father s emotion.
Bradley geared his story towards fathers and sons, and explains the story with extraordinary word
choice. Arm Wrestling With My Father is a story portraying a relationship between Bradley and his
father. Thier relationship was a physical one. For example, Ours had been a physical relationship, I

An example of vivid imagery was when Bradley started winning the arm wrestling matches, and
remembering winning is just not everything. It was like a thrill I have experienced at my
grandfather s lake house in Louisiana, when I hooked my first big fish, Big Joe, but when my
cousin saw the fish, he said, that a keeper, I realized I would be happier with the fish to be let go
instead of grilling it (pg. 162) Bradley compares Big Joe to arm wrestling in that Big Joe is a
hard to catch and his father is hard to be beaten in arm wrestling. Whenever you think that you
have Big Joe, you cut the line and let the legend go on (pg. 162). Another example of vivid imagery
is His arms have always protected me and my family, knowing they caught my mother whenever
she fainted across the room and that they carried me, full grown, up and down the stairs when I
had mononucleosis (pg. 162). This quote is very descriptive in giving us primary examples of
what it was like for his father s arms to protect him and his mother from any harm, knowing that
they were safe in his arm s.
Tone throughout this essay was optimistic. Optimistic in how Bradley admires his father s strength
and how he describes his father s relationship as physical and loving. While effectively using tone
to portray the positive parent child relationship, Bradley focuses his audience towards fathers

While the extraordinary have the right to commit all sorts of crimes and in various ways to
transgress the law, because in point of fact they are extraordinary. This is the argument that
Raskolnikov uses to practically foil his homicidal plans. The idea of extraordinary men vs.
ordinary men pushes him to stop to pick up the opportunity to distinguish himself from the rest
of the ordinary men and women of Saint Petersburg. He must overstep his moral and ordinary
means and cross the boundaries to see if he is truly something extraordinary, but only history can
tell that. The key to these extraordinary expectations is that these crimes have to be fulfilled to
reach this status. Unfortunately, in Raskolnikov s case, this argument does not apply to the
murder of the pawnbroker and Lizaveta. This argument fails as Raskolnikov starts to explain
why he murdered the pawnbroker to Sonia, he attempted to find some sort of explanation or
show some progress because of the murder. To have the murder be justified, someone or
something would have had to be sacrificed for the good of something or someone else but in this

Elvis Presley Influence
Rock and roll music was really started by this one quote: I don t sound like nobody (Marsh).
This quote was said by Elvis when he first met Sun founder Sam Phillips, during a recording
session that Elvis was making for his mother s birthday. Phillips liked Elvis voice and singing
style so much that he thought Elvis was a black man! The public would also have this theory
about him until they actually saw him. Of course, when Elvis Presley walked into Sun Studios in
Memphis, Tennessee, even he could not predict that he was about to change the course of music
history forever. Elvis Presley is the true definition of a rock star. He has basically had music all

Presley was also a terrific dancer, and broke the rules in traditional showmanship, which often
put him in the middle of controversy. Presley has already appeared six times on national
television, but it is his appearance on The Milton Berle Show on June 5, 1956, that triggers the
first controversy of his career. Presley sings his latest single, Hound Dog, with all the pelvis
shaking intensity his fans scream for (Marsh). Elvis chose to dance in this manner to express
himself, and did not see any issues surrounding it. He did what he felt like doing, and would
inspire artists such as James Brown and Jim Morrison of The Doors to have a breathtaking stage
presence. For this reason, several religious groups were outraged at Elvis chosen form of
expression, and started protesting the young singer. Television critics across the country slam the
performance for its appalling lack of musicality, for its vulgarity and animalism. The Catholic
Church takes up the criticism in its weekly organ in a piece headlined Beware Elvis Presley.
Concerns about juvenile delinquency and the changing moral values of the young find a new
target in the popular singer (Marsh). The churches were particularly angered at Presley s dancing,
and rallied against him, much to the chagrin of the teenage fans. In like manner, newspapers
would express public outcries of why Elvis music should be banned from their towns, leading to a
short decline in Elvis record sales. With these two characteristics of performing, Elvis would go on
to inspire countless musicians, all over the

The United States History During The World History
It s very interesting to me when studying America history in the United States. When I lived in
Viet Nam, I studied American history in the World History Program in high school. However, this
program only focused on the history of America in the 20th century such as the Second Industrial
Revolution, the Great Depression, and the Cold War. We studied very in detail about the Cold War
because this event related to Viet Nam war. The Cold War was no large scale fighting directly
between the United Statesand Soviet Union. They are different in economy and politics which are

American history from pre Columbian to Civil War. I knew that the 13 colonies created a war to
gain freedom from the Great Britain. However, I do not know the reasons why they had to left
England to come to the New World, the United States. Now after reviewing Unit 1, I know they
had to leave their own country to come to the United Sates for god, gold, and government. For
example, The Pilgrims, who established Plymouth colony, fled to Holland in 1607to come to the
New World to look for a freedom in religion in the New World. Moreover, the origin of the first
people who came to the Americas is from Asia is a new idea to me. Based on the evidence of
archeologists found in 1927, they concluded that the first known natives from North Asia came to
the America through a frozen patch of land known as

My Future As A Military Officer And My Current Life At The...
This particular lesson I felt was extremely applicable to both my future as a military officer and
my current life at the academy. This reading focuses on conflict among members in an
organization. The reading describes common issues that lead to unhealthy conflict and how to
avoid those issues. Conflict is seen as a good thing in organizations as it creates a more complete
understanding of the choices, it creates a better range or options, and ultimately allows for effective
decisions making. However, it needs to be effectively managed to have a successful organization.
Conflictcan sometimes turn unproductive, as comments can be interpreted as personal attacks.
The reading offers six tactics for managing interpersonal conflict. Of these six, I see the idea of
focus on the facts as the most important. This tactic states that the more information that one can
provide to a situation, the less likely conflicting viewpoints will be seen as personal attacks. This
is especially true when data is objective and up to date, as numbers do not lie and they are hard to
argue. I see this often at the academy when discussing possible changes in policy. Especially in
situations that involve many cadets. Often, discussions are very opinion based with little factual
information because cadets often do not have access to it. Because of this, these discussions often
become a pointless debate. I could make the assumption that this happens in an operational Air
Force setting as well. In

Daniel James Brown s The Boys In The Boat
The Boys in The Boat opens up with the author, Daniel James Brown traveling to Joe Rantz
house to speak to him about one of the books that the author had written. At this point in the
story the author is in a mountainous location. Later on in the book the reader learns that Joe
picked up a fondness for wood, more of an appreciation if anything. So the reader can conclude
that Joe had decided to live in a forested area because he likes trees. The book then jumps
backwards to 1933 in Seattle, Washington. The author sets up the atmosphere and setting of the
cloudy city flawlessly while also showing the reader that the protagonists are living in a very hard
and depressing time. Most of the book takes place in this rainy city as the oarsmen try

Thomas Cranmer Thomas Cranmer was one of the most important people religious leaders during
the English Reformation. Thomas was born on July 2nd, 1948 in Nottingham, England. Thomas
joined the University of Cambridge in 1510. Thomas then left when he married a girl, but then
the girl died at childbirth. Which made Thomas go back to Cambridge and devote all his time to
his studies. A plague or disease came in which made Thomas to relocate to Essex. (www.bbc.co.uk)

religion in society. (www.historylearningsite.co.uk) Cranmer became thee biggest protestant aspect

prayer in a Christian church service in which the people at the service respond to lines spoken
by the person who is leading the service. (www.merriam webster.com). Thomas created an entire
prayer which was followed by a lot of people and protestants. The litany is still used today.
(www.historylearningsite.co.uk) Cranmer also presented and supported the Great Bible in
1539. Many people tried to bring Cranmer down and make people turn against him, no one was
able to. Many people wanted to get rid of his acts and beliefs, but no one was able to, for Thomas
Cranmer had the support of King Henry VIII the entire time. No matter what happened, no one
would be able to stop Cranmer because of the king s support and that is why Thomas Cranmer
became such a big symbol or had a very big role in the reformation.

Greek And Roman Influence On Western Civilization Essay
Western civilization is what we call modern society that mainly includes North America and
Western Europe. But how did this western way of life come to be? Their are many different ways
but mainly through ancient cultures. The two main ones are the Greek and Roman.
Greece with their golden age and Rome with its great Empire and Republic and also together. Their
are many ways in which western civilization is like the ancient Greek civilization. They started the
Olympic games. Greeks come up with the idea of an alphabet that it still used today. They were
the first to think of the idea of democracy. They had common people participate in their

Roman’s also invented the numeral system that is still being used. First to have people
living in apartments and to think up a welfare system. Roman’s were even the ones that
gave the planets their names. Because of all these things Rome had a big impact on western culture.
Rome and Greece both had a major impact on the architecture of western civilization.
Rome invented concrete which is the #1 thing used in building today. They also used brick and
glass. While the Greek’s used marble, which is still applied today. They both built big,
beautiful structures, many which are still standing. The Greek invention of the column, and
Rome with there favorite architecture shape, the arch, are both still very much used in the present
especially on government and capital buildings. Greece thought up the idea of making sculptors of
real people not just gods or animals. And they made it symmetrical which is how sculptors make
them to this day. Roman’s invented aqueducts and sewers.
They built great roads that were all connected and some are even still being walked on. All of
these things are a very big part of how we construct our buildings and cities. In conclusion, with the
Greek and Roman ideas and inventions they were able to have a lasting effect on the world. In one
way or another Greek and Roman civilizations have helped develop math, science, literature,

Bureaucracy And Simon s Theory Of Organizations As...
Organizations as Rational Systems

This paper introduces Rational System Perspectives in relations to four promin ent schools of
organization theory; which are Taylor s scientific management, Fayol s general principles of
management, Weber s theory of bureaucracy and Simon s discussion on administrative behavior.
Rational System Perspectives
There are two key elements characterizing rational systems:
1) Goal Specificity
Specific goals support rational behavior in organizations by providing guideli nes on structural
design, which leads to specify what tasks are to be performe d and how resources are to be allocated.
2) Formalization
Formalization is an attempt to make behavior more predictable by standardizing ... Show more

Dramatism Review on Revenge
Dramatism Review on Revenge
The Golden Globe nominated television show Revenge, debuted in 2010. Revenge was
produced and created by Mike Kelly. The drama television series is about Emily Thorne who is
really Amanda Clarke, whose father was framed for treason when she was a little girl. After a
lengthy trial, he was imprisoned for life, and was murdered in prison by the agents who framed
him. She has now returned to the Hamptons as an adult to get revenge on those who wronged her
father. Not only is Revenge entertaining it also pushes the norm to see how far you will go for
someone you love. I will dissect this television series into five different elements act, agent(s),
agency, scene, and purpose. In Revenge the act is Emily pushing for revenge against the
Grayson s. The agent is Emily Thorne (Amanda Clarke). The agency is her background on the
Grayson s, Nolan Ross, and her background in martial arts. Nolan Ross is basically her sidekick
and guardian angel. He keeps her grounded and watches her back. He keeps her on track and
points out her options. The scene is set in the Hamptons with Emily planning her revenge against
the people who wronged her father. Family, honor, duty, and love (Amanda goal is to clear her
father and she shows no bounds for which she will go to do this) are the purpose for this show.
After watching this series I believe that the dominant elements are the purpose and agent. Without
the purpose of her trying to clear her father s name the

they do when they aren t satisfied with the acts, they try to kill themselves by shouting Fire and

To begin with, when the Colonist dumped our prices Tea into the harbor I was actually really
surprised because I thought the problem was resolved when the Townshend Act was removed
except for the taxes on Tea. If the Colonist just could have looked at the good stuff that the mother
country had done then this War would ve been avoided but instead, they decide to create a list that
states what King George had done which was just plain stupid not to add anything good. Secondly,
when I saw what Samuel Adams had written I felt angry at how people thought that horrible night
had gone down. The worst part is that many people believe this garbage and now innocent troops
are being punished from this. This all could have been avoided is the Patriots didn t have anger
management problems and just rethought their actions than 5 people wouldn t die. Also
shouldn t they have been asking to be killed and instead try to reason with them? Lastly, I felt
like the intolerable was a last ditch effort to help take control of the Colonist and punish those
who misbehave. Another thing this Act disbanded was those town meetings which were actually
used as a place to make a plan to rebel. If only people could follow the rules then all these taxes
would pass and besides people in Britain had to pay for more than you did. In the end, if the
Colonist would have just followed the rules and just pay taxes like normal people would the events

Your eyes read the mural as you go up the stairs. Siqueiros was interested in portraying movement
in his forms, this is apparent in the mural. All of the images are active, and they all do their part
in moving your eyes around the painting. The mural consists of a total of three walls and a
ceiling all covered with images that seem to converge toward the middle wall. The central wall
is the most controversial wall as far as content is concerned. This wall seems to depict capitalism
as it manipulates the political powers of the world. Your eyes are drawn to a creature that looks

principal bourgeois democracies: France, Great Britain, and the United States. The right side
features three fascist regimes: Hirohito, Mussolini, and Hitler. The infernal machine is pumping
a fuel that reminds me of blood. Gold coins are spilling out of the top of the machine, which
seems to emulate the idea of greed. The coins lead your eye down to the bottom of the mural
where there is a factory extending across all three of the walls. The factory shows Siqueiros

The Visual Encyclopedia Of Late Roman Art
from the visual encyclopedia of late Roman art to tell a story. In addition, pagans and Christians
both produced similar non verbal, iconographical images that pointed to a shared conceptual
backcloth in which both pagans and Christians had a prior agreement in a form of life. This form
is largely defined through the relationship between death and the afterlife. One such form involves
the iconographical depictions of events that occurred in the catacombs themselves refrigeria meals
(in the Christian case) to commemorate the apostles and future saints Peter and Paul, or even the
deaths of everyday Christians. These meals were events in which the living feasted in the presence

The benefit of association provided by collective catacomb burial, as well as artistic depictions
of virtues on tombs, was one that crossed different religious and class groups; these associations
suggest that, at least up until the third century, these types of shared experiences were an
important way for an individual to connect their life (and death) to wider society as a whole.
This, in turn, helped people make sense of the world that both Christians and pagans lived in.
Thus, it is sufficient to say that Christian catacomb art, compared to pagan catacomb art, does
not necessarily reflect any distinctly more confident belief in the afterlife than the other; rather,
art served as a sort of consolation between the life one lived and how they hoped to be
remembered after death, especially in the lower class. Yet, just like burial, Christian art was a way
for Christians to find specific meaning in their collective Roman experience. The emergence of
Christian art reflected the emergence of a characteristically Christian social identity, one that
revolved primarily around the interpretation of biblical narratives. While it is true that both
Christians and pagans used similar artistic types, it is also true that even when similar
iconographical figures were depicted, Christians and pagans were attracted to icons that reflected
their specific religious beliefs. This duality will be shown in two ways: first, by analyzing how

For the first time in years, the number of guest rooms in Las Vegas will grow only slightly in

years ago is in stark contrast to the extraordinary growth rate of the late 1990s, when the Strip

Where to stay
If you want to stay on the Strip, remember it s a 32 mile (5.6 kilometre) hike from one end to the
other. You could spend a lot of time tramping from casino to casino, so consider whether you want
to be based at the north, centre or south. The more recent mega resorts are the most attractive places
to stay, but there are also older properties that retain a charm that hints of old Vegas. The cluster of
Downtown casino hotels do a good job with accommodation, although their dining options are more
limited than those on the Strip, and non gambling entertainment is practically non existent.
Of course, you don t have to stay in a casino. Off the Strip, in the area surrounding the Convention
Center, rooms are aimed at the business traveller and are generally unencumbered by noisy
casinos, while out of town, the Regent in Summerlin and the Hyatt at Lake Las Vegas cater for
visitors who want to combine casino luxury with easy access to the golf course. Casino rooms offer
such good value that the budget accommodation sector is relatively small. In addition to the hostel

The film itself is regarded by most to be a very entertaining film, due to a number of different
factors. Firstly the film is set in the 2019, giving people a fascinating insight into the future.
However the unusual thing about the future is the dystopian outlook, which is not the habitual
preconception we most have. The special effects and fight scenes did much to increase the
entertainment level of the film. But most of all the aspect of the film that entertains the audience
the most is the presence of Harrison Ford, who still is to this day a huge star. And stars like him
make people want to go and watch a film.
Blade runner addresses some of the eternal questions that humans have asked for centuries, for
example:
What does it mean to be human? What is reality? What is the difference between real memories
and artificial memories? How does our environment affect us? What are the moral issues we face in
the creation of artificial people?
Moreover, Scott s better films reach toward higher truths. Blade Runner, thus, cannot be understood
without comprehending the deeply felt moral, philosophical, ecological and sociological concerns
that are interwoven throughout the story. Take, for instance, the film s title a Blade Runner is one

Castaway Analysis
In the movie Castaway, Chuck Noland is marooned on a deserted island by himself. He lost
everyone he ever knew and because of that he started to go insane. To cope with this, he created
a friend for himself, helping him keep his sanity and to be less lonely. At times, he lost
motivation, and he almost gave up. Noland learned how to get food, clean water, and make a
shelter in the four years he was on the island, fulfilling his basic needs . Ultimately, the main
reason he almost died multiple times while marooned was because he was alone. Love and
belongingness needs are one of the most important needs for human survival because without
human interaction, one could lose their sanity, motivation, and can become lonely. Some people
who follow Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs believe that the basic needs are the most important
needs. Seeing as how the basic needs include food, water, and rest, this makes sense. Without those
essentials, one will die. In the book The Clay Marbleby Minfong Ho, in chapter nine, a young
refugee named Dara is walking back to her campsite after being separated from her family. I
noticed an old man looking at me curiously. He was sitting with his own family, holding a plate
of cold rice. I looked at it hungrily, but could not bring myself to ask for any food. Dara is
rejecting asking for food, and yet the only reason she is there in the first place is to find her
family. Dara cannot bear to lose them, and would rather go hungry looking for them than be
fully nourished without them. This shows how much risk people will go through for the ones
they love. Dara wandered back to her campsite, right after it had been bombed, to try and find
the people she loved. Eating, drinking, and sleeping are key human instincts, but on the other
hand, so is love. In the article Homeless turn lives around step by step , in which the topic is a
woman who started a running club for homeless people, On line 36, Anne Mahlum, the founder

Describe The Relationship Between Termites And Dermatobia...
1. A phoretic relationship is when two different species, who benefit from one another, travel
together throughout their relationship. An example of phoresis is the species of fly, Dermatobia
hominis. The fly attaches the larvae to another insect such as a mosquito and when the mosquito
travels and feeds on an animal or human, the eggs hatch and the larvae burrows itself into it s skin.
2. Mutualism is when both parties of the relationship benefit from the association. Obligatory
mutualism is when both species depend on one another in the relationship because otherwise they
would not be able to survive alone.
3. The obligatory relationship between termites and gut protozoa is very important. Termites bodies

Social Media Has An Inopportune Impact On Society
Technology has been improving yearly and has now become part of many people s life. Humans
have become dependent on technology for many things like to communicate, to learn, to create
things, to advertise, the list is endless. Access to the internet has become easier even in
underdeveloped countries. This means that almost anyone can post, share, comment, and do many
different functions that social mediaallows to do.
Considering that technology is easy to access and that people depend on it, it is almost
impossible to not have a controversial conversation over it. Some people believe that posting on
social media has an inopportune impact on society. However, there are a lot of positive impacts
social media has on society. Social media bring people together and helps society in a lot of
ways. Posting to social media comes with responsibilities since what is posted could not be
taken lightly by someone else however, there should be no fear in posting since the freedom to

colors. Making different shades of every color. For example, if you mix blue and yellow you get
green. If you mix different colors you will get new better colors. Colors are everywhere even if we
don t want them to be.
Colors have lots of meanings. We use many of the same colors but we mix them with other
colors and we get the different shades of these colors. For example, while red is the color most
associated with love, it also the color most frequently associated with hatred, anger, aggression,
and war. People who are angry are said to see red. Red is the color most commonly associated
with passion and heat. Blue is the color between violet and green on the optical spectrum of
visible light. Human eyes perceive blue when observing light with a wavelength between 450 and
495 nanometers, which is between 45 and 49.5 Angstroms. Green is the color between blue and
yellow on the spectrum of visible light. It is evoked by light with a predominant wavelength of
roughly 495 570 nm. Pink is a pale Red

A Hero s Journey Into The Wild
Steadily walking up the steep mountain path, Dave thought out loud to himself. I think this is
the best hiking path ever, he whispered to nobody. Suddenly, Dave took a step forward and
tripped on a rock. Owww! he yelled. He had a bad bump on his head. As he got up from the dusty
road, he noticed a small cave maybe three feet high and three feet wide. He couldn t believe his
eyes. Wowww! Dave exclaimed. He crawled to the cave, grabbed his flashlight from his pack, and
slid inside the cave. Dave turned on his flashlight and found the cave huge. As he shone his
flashlight around, he saw huge stalactites and stalagmites with pools of water. As he walked in
farther, he heard rocks hitting the floor. He also heard a screech and three bats

Ficial Version Of The Law Is Not A True Reflection Of Its...
The official version of the law is the basis on which the law prides itself to be. It claims to be
neutral, having no prejudice against race, sex, gender, or any other distinguishing
characteristics. The law compares itself to a blindfolded woman as historically women who
have been seen as virgins who are pure, uninfluenced, and have no biases. The official version of
the law is bound by one rule and that is everyone is subjected to the law and will be treated
equally under it. Stare Decisis, a well known term to legal scholars is used define how judges are
bound by precedent which means they must treat all cases the same and thus leading to the basis
of the official version which is predictable, unbiased law. My focus in this paper is to... Show more

This showed racism in many ways, one of which clearly indicates that the Aboriginal peoples
were not viewed as smart or privileged enough to make their own decisions. According to Comack
s article (2012) privileged individuals hold positions which are defined as the following:
Grants the cultural authority to make judgment onto others and to have those judgments stick, it
allows people to define reality and to have prevailing definitions of reality fit their experience...in
other words in societies in which white people are the dominant group, whiteness goes unmarked.
Whiteness becomes the unacknowledged norm or standard by which all others are measured (p. 18).
Furthermore, the Canadian law failed to realize that there empowerment over the Aboriginal land
and reserves interfered with the treaties, which the Aboriginal people struggled to enforce. The
government denied the existence of any treaties, which were already in existence.
Although Aboriginal rights are supposedly protected under the Constitution Act of 1867, the law
itself creates racism. This is clearly shown in the Gradual Civilization Act of 1857 where the
Aboriginal people were subjected to discrimination as reservations were created for the Aboriginal
people to live. The law failed to recognize the traditional territories of the reservations that various

John Cages Research Paper
The music of John Cage is highly criticized, yet highly revered within the same societal realm.
The question that has yet to be answered, even after fifty plus years, is John Cages music really
music or is it just noise? The dictionary definition of music is the following: vocal or instrumental
sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of
emotion. My personal version of the definition of musicis a variant of the definition listed above. I
believe that music is the combination of vocal, instrumental sounds, or silence (or all the above)
produced in a way to express a feeling or emotion. Based on my own personal definition of music, I
do consider John Cages pieces to be music.

it is my opinion that this John Cage piece is considered music. John Cage talks about how all you
need for noise to be music is for there to be sound created in some form and fashion and for the
sound to create rhythmic patterns. I agree with him in that sense. Music is simply different sounds
combined in different rhythms. However, simply because my definition of music similarly
matches with John Cage s definition doesn t mean that the listener must modify their definition,
because in any definition of music that a person creates they cannot argue the fact that music is
varying sounds combined with rhythm. But John Cage music isn t simply about the music itself,
but he argues that it s also about the performance. Each time a piece is performed the audience
will be different, the performer may be feeling different, and therefore, the piece will be different.
For Water Walk specifically, it doesn t include any visual effects nor would they be necessary for
the performance. There is a visual stimulant when watching him start a new contraption to create
each sound, however it is not necessary for those visuals to be seen by the audience to listen to the

Centervale Police Patrol
All police departments grapple with the challenge of allocating their limited resources to meet to
meet law enforcement needs of the communities they serve. Crucial to alleviating the cost
pressures the departments face is patrol force allocation. Most of the budgets go to salaries and
expenses, such as fringe benefits, which mean that increases in personnel utilization efficiencies
would result in dollar savings. As such, it is the duty of policechiefs to determine what the patrols
will look like regarding when and where the patrols will take place. This paper, thus, seeks to
outline how the Centervale Police Department should allocate patrol resources to best serve the
needs of Centervale.
Patrols are meant to eliminate criminal opportunities by creating an impression of presence in the
community. However, patrols do not decrease an individual s desire to break the law but by
diminishing the opportunities to commit crime, they promote a sense of safety to residents. As the
assistant chief in the Centervale Police Department, CPD, one would develop a strategy that caters
for both sides of the railroad tracks with fairness although with an emphasis on the crime prone
north.

Random preventive patrol strategies aim to increase visibility in the community to deter crime
and reduce the general public s fear of crime. However, this method of patrols is ineffective at
apprehending offenders. Directed patrols in Centervale would use hot spot policing approach by
increasing the presence of uniforms in the northern side of the railroad tracks, where crime is most
prevalent at night. However, that would come at price to the south side since the residents of the
south of railroad tracks contribute more to the town s taxes. The assistant chief would have to use
the money coming from the south side for crime deterrence in the north to prevent migration of
criminals to the

Cook County Corrections Case Study
Cook County Department of Corrections Misappropriations If you re from Chicago, you know
that crime in this city, let alone the county we live in Cook County is very high. After 72 hours
spent at local police departments, people who are arrested are sent to Cook County jail to be
processed; her the possible charges against them, and make bail if one has been given to them.
According to theatlantic.com, there are approximately 9,000 to 11,000 inmates (male and female)
currently incarcerated at Cook County. The cook county sheriff s website agrees with those
numbers and adds that 100,000 people pass through their system every year. As taxpayers, we
should be considered of how much money goes to fund the cook county jail. According to the

All of rights and privileges I have listed makes it sound like jail is ok but that isn t the case.
There s a lot of flaws to how the funds for each of them is being misappropriated. The company
that make it possible for inmates to communicate with their loved ones is called Securus.
Securus has come under fire for the set phone rates they ve made. In Cook County phone
contract cost inmates and families, Rod Wilderboer talks about how families/friends have to
choose between putting money on their Securus account to receive calls from a loved one who
is incarcerated. In this article, it comes to light that Cook County Board President Toni
Preckwinkle approved the contract deal with Securus. Securus gives back more than half of the
money they make from all of the calls inmates make. Calls rates are ridiculously high some can go
from $5.00 to $7.00 for only 30 minutes which includes a few interruptions during each call.
Compared to rates from other county jails and even state prisons these rates are too much for
families and friends who want to stay in touch with their loved

Gingivitis Research Paper
Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums, which is the initial stage of gum disease. The direct
cause of gingivitis is plaque the soft, sticky, colorless film of bacteria that forms on the teeth and
gums. If the plaque is not removed by daily brushing and flossing, it will produce toxins that can
irritate the gums causing gingivitis (Colgate. 2014). The most common cause of Gingivitis is poor
oral hygiene(Mayo Clinic. 2017). The gums are attached to the teeth at a lower point of the gums
edge that cannot be seen. This forms a space called a sulcus. When food gets trapped in this space
an infection or Gingivitis may occur. Infections can occur from plaque build up. Plaque is known
as a thin film of bacteriathat constantly forms on the teeth. When plaque advances, it will harden
and become tartar. Which can then develop an infection when the plaque... Show more content on

These diseases include: respiratory disease, diabetes, coronary artery disease, stroke and rheumatoid
arthritis. The bacteria that can cause periodontitis can enter the bloodstream through gum tissue,
which can possibly affect the heart, lungs and other major organs in the body. Trench mouth is
otherwise known as necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis. This is a severe form of gingivitis that causes
painful, infected, bleeding of the gums and ulcerations. This disease is rare today in certain
developed nations, but is common in countries that have poor nutrition and poor living conditions.
Many things can go wrong in the mouth. The symptoms are serious and if they are experienced
contact a medical professional immediately. If gingivitis is left untreated if can lead to gum disease,
periodontitis, or chronic gingiva. If the teeth continuously get brushed twice a day for at least two
minutes the risk of getting gingivitis lowers. Good nutrition and avoiding tobacco products will
also reduce the rick of getting gingivitis or gum

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY EFFECTS ON COMPOSITE MATERIAL PROPERTIES
ANSHUL and RAHUL
ABSTRACT
This paper discusses the different properties of composite materials under static testing condition to
determine the effect of aging due to change in temperature and moisture content. Effects on tensile,
shear, impact, stiffness and fatigue parameters are studied. For each property, application specific
composite materials are taken into consideration with different stacking sequence and number of
plies. Different samples of these are then introduced to different hygrothermal environments for
example: temperatures ranging from 50 degree Celsius to +50 degree Celsius or kept in wet
conditions for 24 hours at different temperatures of 21, 37 and 50 degree Celsius etc. Different
tests are performed based on the material property to observe a change from the initial unaged
specimen. To study every property a different test method is discussed. A final comparison for each
property between the unaged and aged specimen is shown in order to see the property s dependence
on temperature and moisture. This comparison highlights the temperature and moisture dependent
properties and showcase a trend. Properties like tensile modulus, shear modulus, shear strength,
flexural stiffness and fatigue life show a decrease with increase in temperature and moisture content
while Poisson s ratio and impact strength increase with increase in temperature and moisture
content.

What Is Auschwitz Concentration Camp
Auschwitz
Over 1 million jews were killed at the Auschwitz concentration camp. Jews were taken from their
homes and put into concentration camps against their will. The most famous of them was
Auschwitz. This concentration camp was by far the largest and had the biggest effect on the Jewish
Race.
Auschwitz was located in the suburbs of an abandoned city. The camp was originally a detention
center for political prisoners. But, the camp would soon be the biggest concentration camp in
history. Almost 1.25 million people that were deported to the camp would be killed.
The commanders of Auschwitz were Lieutenant Colonel Rudolf Huess and Colonel Arthur
Liebchenzel. They divided the camp into three different parts. The main camp, Birkenau, and the
third Manowitz. Most of the jews in the concentration camps were put in gas chambers, enslaved,
or sometimes died of starvation. Some of the prisoners weren t at the camps for very long if they
had a disease. You were almost immediatly killed. They showed no mercy to the detainees.... Show

concentration camp.
This is why this single camp affected the jewish race so much. So, Auschwitz was a dangerous
and big camp. They killed you in the worst way possible and showed no mercy while not feeling
bad at all. But, the camp was eventually raided and thousands of corpses were left behind. This
would be the end of the most famous concentration camp in

Fear Dentist Essay
Fear is natural but what isn t natural is that people are afraid from improving their health due to
unreliable reasons that are created from their imagination.
People have always been afraid from dentists, and that fear is growing larger every year. The fear
driven by a number of factors that may relate to the person and their association of dentists with
pain, or the fear of the sound of the machines caused by fears originating from childhood
memories and other experiences in life. The fears of past hearings related to the dentists and their
actions may be a reason for fear in the patients. The details of the study below aim at developing

These have created fears in people and led to difficulties on gaining confidence to obtain dental
care. Moreover, the human mind is much related to stimuli and responses based on the causes of
the stimuli. Relating these to the experiment of Pavlov on the dogs and constant stimuli
occasioned by the sound of a bell that indicated a time for food, one discovers the relationship of
the thought of a visit to the dentist to the effect or the pain of it. (Coon, p.261). The conditioning
of the mind to fear as a result of a visit to the dentist would result into a fear. Smell of the hospital
accompanied by the sound of the machines used during the operation yield into fears for a number
of patients. The common smell of drugs in the hospital causes fears in many people that make
them fear the whole procedure. A sound produced by two equipments or machines used raise fear
levels in some people.
In dealing with these fears, there is need to coordinate the causes with a professional approach to
handling them based on those identified in each patient. These are part of the professional
obligations of the dentists (Ozar Sokol, p.15). Cause of fear differs from one patient to another, as
well as the solution to it. These majorly deal with the alleviation of the fear. The fear normally
grows further if the patient uses a dentist they may not

Hofstede s Cultural Dimensions Comparison
Hofstede s Cultural Dimensions Comparison
When a business decides to venture internationally into different countries with its products,
services, and operations, it is very important that the company gains an understanding of how the
culture of the different societies affects the values found in those societies. Geert Hofstede
conducted one of the most famous and most used studies on how culture relates to values. Hofstede
study enabled him to compare dimensions of culture across 40 countries. He originally isolated
four dimensions of what he claimed summarized different cultures power distance, uncertainty
avoidance, individualism versus collectivism, and masculinity versus femininity (Hill, 2013,
p.110). To cover aspects of values not discussed in the original paradigm Hofstede has since added
two more dimensions Confucianism or long term orientation and indulgence versus self restraint
(Hofstede, n.d.). Because of the way Hofstede s cultural dimensions are given an index score from
0 100, it is easy for a company to get a general comparison between the cultures they are expanding
into and the culture they are already in.
United States versus France
For example, if a company based in the United States were going to expand into France, the
company could use Hofstede s 6 cultural dimensions to get a general look at the differences
between the two. Then out of those differences, the company could see what approaches may or
may not work, or what they may need to change,

The German people made Jews life a living hell and things became harder and harder on the Jews causing them to be prohibited from certain areas of the city and school. • 4. Everything That Rises Must Converge Essay Living in a lie: Holding on to the past A new generation has taken place and some people make certain adjustments and can over all accept the change. Segregation was a serious issue for people, thoughts and emotions were the last to be considered. People that were sensitive to this particular generation just turned the other way and did not get involved. The men worked, women stayed home, no questions were asked and everyone lived happily. In the short story, Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O Connor, is about change, acceptance and treating everyone as equal. Desegregation has taken over and Justin s motherhas a hard time accepting this. Her generation was living a high style life, where she had slaves and whatever she wanted was provided. This new generation has taken a turn because she doesn t have that lifestyle anymore. She has become racial, stubborn and her son Julian thinks he can make her change, and see the reality they are living now. • 5. Political Conflict In Riyadh And Iran The latest developments that just unfolded in Riyadh are unsettling and carry a high risk of a regional confrontation. An assertive Saudi crown prince is determined to consolidate power by purging dissidents at home while escalating rhetoric abroad. Such a diversionary approach, seemingly employed to shift attention away from domestic turmoil, is challenging an emboldened Iranian regime whose armed proxies have been strengthening their hold from the Levant to Yemen. While these circumstances are tantamount to an imminent war scenario between Riyadh and Tehran, there are indications that it might not actually be the case. On November 4, within the span of few hours, two major events took place: Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two Saudi ambassadors in Iraq and Lebanon were appointed last week, showing a willingness to engage. On October 25, Saudi Arabia and Iran finally agreed to have the Swiss government as a go between for consular and diplomatic services, after breaking off diplomatic ties in early 2016. Riyadh has returned to Iraq after a long absence, hoping to increase political influence and explore a new market. A military confrontation with Iran is counterproductive to Saudi engagement in Iraq. While in Syria, Saudi Arabia has been keeping a low profile with an influence restricted to elements in the exiled civilian opposition. Third, a confrontation is not in Iran s interest for now. The Iranian regime, which has been more united since President Hassan Rouhani s reelection in May, is focused on reaping the economic benefits of the nuclear deal and preserving the gains made in Syria. Mohammad Ali Jafari, commander of Iran s Revolutionary Guard, announced on October 31 that Iran will be restricting its long range missiles to 2,000km, which can reach Israel and US interests in the Middle East. The move was meant to reassure European countries that are beyond that missile range. Russian President Vladimir Putin, who visited Tehran on November 1, convinced Tehran to tone down the rhetoric against the US. While Russia is focused on advancing a political solution in Syria, Iran sees that the Syrian war will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Argumentative Essay On Civil Rights Personally, I believe it is difficult to place ourselves in the shoes of the senators that were faced with these decisions. Looking back at these speeches now, I can truly see the hard work and mental strain that these men went through in order to place this bill. When using these speeches as historical sources, I think we should consider several things. The time period in which they were given, the position each Senator stood for, and the general purpose behind it. For example, when looking at most filibusters we would not consider them as credible sources mostly because they are used to drag out the debate and exhaust their opponents by simply reading from the newspaper or telephone book. (pg.248) However, this was certainly not the case when regarding the Civil Rights Bill. One of said previous research findings, Gender and the meanings of adolescent romantic relationships: A focus on boys. Therefore, inadvertently labeling boys as being the exact opposite. • 8. Moral Of The Canterbury Tales Now it is time to decide which tale in The Canterbury Tales, by Geoffrey Chaucer, rises above the rest. I stated at the beginning of our journey to Canterbury that I would pick the tale that is greatest moral teaching and in entertainment value (17). After intently listening to all of your tales, one stood out from the others. Though many of you told stories that were offensive to other pilgrims on the trip or told stories that had little moralsignificance, I determined that there is one that most fully fulfills the requirements that I have set forth. I have decided that the Nun s Priest s Taleteaches the greatest moral lesson while having great entertainment value, making the Nun s Priest the winner of our competition. The Nun s Priest s Tale is a beast fable, an allegory that utilizes animals with human characteristic in order to illustrate the message. The tale follows the story of Chanticleer, a beautiful rooster whose voice was merrier than the merry organ that plays in church, (153). One day, a fox named Russell comes into the yard and begins complementing Chanticleer on his singing talents, persuading him to stick out his neck and sing with his eyes closed. Because Chanticleer is so entranced by Russell s flattery, he closes his eyes and begins to sing, allowing Russell to be able to bite his neck and run with him into the woods. The moral of the Nun s Priest s Tale is clear: never trust a flatterer. Chanticleers capture is the result of being careless and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I plan on attending college to earn my masters or doctorate degree in a medical field of study.I hope to attend one of the following colleges: Ohio State, Michigan State, or UCLA. Ohio State is located in Columbus, Ohio, Michigan State is located in East Lansing, Michigan, and UCLA is located Los Angeles, California. When looking at these three colleges, I will be comparing overall fees, varsity sports, student population, the size of city where the universityis located, and the awards offered. Out of these three universities, I would prefer the Ohio State University. When I am looking for a college, I look at the total fees it takes to go to that college. Ohio State, on the main campus and in state, annually costs $25,579. Ohio States total costs are lower than both Michigan State and UCLA. Michigan State costs an average of $48,848 and UCLA costs $33, 391, which is a difference of $13,000 and $8,000. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a play about a middle school spelling bee held in one of America s many Putnam Counties. As the bee goes on, each contestant has to come to terms with themselves, the world around them, and growing up. The promotional material for this production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Beedoesn t actually give much away in terms of what the play is about. The poster, for instance, just has the name of the play, a picture in the background of someone s anxious feet, and the tagline Winning isn t everything... or is it? If there s a more vague poster, I don t know what it is. So, I had no real expectations going in. I knew that there was going to be a spelling beeinvolved and that this was a musical, and I d heard that there would be some audience participation and lots of mentions of the word erection. That s about it. The plot of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a bit contrived, though, wholly enjoyable. All of our characters are introduced in the first song, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It s a bit of a contrived way to introduce characters, though it hardly stands out. Right away they said, We love this baby already (Wasson). As is stated in the classic children s book, The Chosen Baby, this story serves as a common introductory tool that some adoptive families use to explain to their children the way their family was created. The Chosen Baby shares the absolute joy that parents experience when adopting a child and effectively helps children better understand their family dynamics. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfulfilled basic needs create a violation to a child s belief system. Often times, adopted children experience voided space inside as well as an unfathomable sense of disarray (Eldridge, 62). Carla Duncan, a 1968 adoptee, recently expressed in a personal interview her mixed emotions: Being adopted is like a double edge sword in that on one side, I have always felt very special to say, I am adopted , because I was chosen and hand picked. On the other hand, however, I feel different because I am adopted. In order to be chosen, I had to realize that someone also rejected me. Someone did not want me. Sometimes I would look for long periods of time at myself in the mirror, wondering who it was that I was really seeing. This feeling grew with great intensity as I became a teenager and felt that no one really understood me. Duncan, as is proven typical of other adoptees, has also experienced the common need to express her adoption story, only to be let down at the un interest of peers. Misunderstanding often exists as a residual psychological effect among adoptees (Eldridge, 91). With good intentions, adoptive parents and other influential people may unknowingly contribute to the adoptee s mixed emotions. Indeed, simple words and statements have the ability to negatively cut to the heart, tearing down emotions. A common misconception often used to encourage a chosen child may ... All the work that educational leaders has put in on every level of our educational system has not rendered the results desired. Making sure that every teacher has the ability, skill, motivation , and desire to do the job is considered essential. When implementing a plan or transforming a culture an educational leader must have full executive support, an effective communication plan, full employee involvement, thorough organizational planning and completive analysis, and a widespread perceived need for the strategic planning. Effective leadership also comes with great collaboration in an organization internal and external. Leadership must constantly involve staff in collaboration. Early in a new program s life a centralized focus must provide the leader a number of benefits: management of external stakeholders, management of informational needs, funding of the program, and management support. Providing teachers and administrative teams to collaborate on on going and future issues will help empower and motivate to take ownership in the organization. In an educational environment school leaders must collaborate with staff through PLC s which are team meetings, faculty and staff meetings, school improvement committees, teacher appraisals periods (PDAS), and even casual conversation. Bradley emphasizes the descriptive concept of relationships between father and son. Through vivid imagery he effectively portrays the nature of the relationship between a child and his father. Using tone that exemplifies his father s emotion. Bradley geared his story towards fathers and sons, and explains the story with extraordinary word choice. Whenever you think that you have Big Joe, you cut the line and let the legend go on (pg. 162). Another example of vivid imagery is His arms have always protected me and my family, knowing they caught my mother whenever she fainted across the room and that they carried me, full grown, up and down the stairs when I had mononucleosis (pg. 162). This quote is very descriptive in giving us primary examples of what it was like for his father s arms to protect him and his mother from any harm, knowing that they were safe in his arm s. While the extraordinary have the right to commit all sorts of crimes and in various ways to transgress the law, because in point of fact they are extraordinary. This is the argument that Raskolnikov uses to practically foil his homicidal plans. The idea of extraordinary men vs. ordinary men pushes him to stop to pick up the opportunity to distinguish himself from the rest of the ordinary men and women of Saint Petersburg. He must overstep his moral and ordinary means and cross the boundaries to see if he is truly something extraordinary, but only history can tell that. The key to these extraordinary expectations is that these crimes have to be fulfilled to reach this status. Unfortunately, in Raskolnikov s case, this argument does not apply to the murder of the pawnbroker and Lizaveta. This argument fails as Raskolnikov starts to explain why he murdered the pawnbroker to Sonia, he attempted to find some sort of explanation or show some progress because of the murder. To have the murder be justified, someone or something would have had to be sacrificed for the good of something or someone else but in this case Raskolnikov has not grown in any way, shape, or form as he says he has simply killed a louse, a useless, loathsome, harmless creature. Of course, when Elvis Presley walked into Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, even he could not predict that he was about to change the course of music history forever. Presley sings his latest single, Hound Dog, with all the pelvis shaking intensity his fans scream for (Marsh). Elvis chose to dance in this manner to express himself, and did not see any issues surrounding it. He did what he felt like doing, and would inspire artists such as James Brown and Jim Morrison of The Doors to have a breathtaking stage presence. For this reason, several religious groups were outraged at Elvis chosen form of expression, and started protesting the young singer. Television critics across the country slam the performance for its appalling lack of musicality, for its vulgarity and animalism. The Catholic Church takes up the criticism in its weekly organ in a piece headlined Beware Elvis Presley. Concerns about juvenile delinquency and the changing moral values of the young find a new target in the popular singer (Marsh). The churches were particularly angered at Presley s dancing, and rallied against him, much to the chagrin of the teenage fans. Teenage Drinking Essay Teenage Drinking According to Lang nine out of ten high school seniors have used alcohol, one out of twenty use it daily, and one out of three will get drunk during any given weekend (back cover). Teenage drinking is a very serious problem that is growing by the day in our country. I want to know what kids who drink are getting themselves in to when they decide to start in high school or junior high. What types of health and psychological problems will they be facing? I started out my search at the local library, looked through some books about alcohol, and found several ranging from its uses and abuses to teenage drinking. I did not bother looking in the encyclopedia because I figured that the people who wrote these books had already done it for me. The first book I looked through was by Alan R. Lang (February 29, 2000); I skimmed through the table of contents of the book and saw that it had a section devoted to the short term as well as the long term effects of alcohol. So, in order to get a better understanding of this issue I turned to the specified page and found that the effect of alcohol is directly related to ones BAC, or blood alcohol concentration (Lang 39). This is what makes different kinds of people engage in a wide array of behaviors, such as when two people drink the same amount of alcohol but the person who has more body mass does not feel the effects of the alcohol. The other person, who has less body mass will get drunk faster and is said to have less of a tolerance for alcohol . In Volger s Teenagers and Alcohol, I found an excellent table outlining the ... When I lived in Viet Nam, I studied American history in the World History Program in high school. However, this program only focused on the history of America in the 20th century such as the Second Industrial Revolution, the Great Depression, and the Cold War. We studied very in detail about the Cold War because this event related to Viet Nam war. The Cold War was no large scale fighting directly between the United Statesand Soviet Union. They are different in economy and politics which are communist and capitalist. When taking History 1301 course, I am really interested when I have an opportunity to exam American history from pre Columbian to Civil War. I knew that the 13 colonies created a war to gain freedom from the Great Britain. However, I do not know the reasons why they had to left England to come to the New World, the United States. Now after reviewing Unit 1, I know they had to leave their own country to come to the United Sates for god, gold, and government. For example, The Pilgrims, who established Plymouth colony, fled to Holland in 1607to come to the New World to look for a freedom in religion in the New World. Moreover, the origin of the first people who came to the Americas is from Asia is a new idea to me. Based on the evidence of archeologists found in 1927, they concluded that the first known natives from North Asia came to the America through a frozen patch of land known as ... • 20. My Future As A Military Officer And My Current Life At The... This particular lesson I felt was extremely applicable to both my future as a military officer and my current life at the academy. This reading focuses on conflict among members in an organization. The reading describes common issues that lead to unhealthy conflict and how to avoid those issues. Conflict is seen as a good thing in organizations as it creates a more complete understanding of the choices, it creates a better range or options, and ultimately allows for effective decisions making. However, it needs to be effectively managed to have a successful organization. Conflictcan sometimes turn unproductive, as comments can be interpreted as personal attacks. The reading offers six tactics for managing interpersonal conflict. Of these six, I see the idea of focus on the facts as the most important. This tactic states that the more information that one can provide to a situation, the less likely conflicting viewpoints will be seen as personal attacks. This is especially true when data is objective and up to date, as numbers do not lie and they are hard to argue. I see this often at the academy when discussing possible changes in policy. Especially in situations that involve many cadets. Often, discussions are very opinion based with little factual information because cadets often do not have access to it. Because of this, these discussions often become a pointless debate. I could make the assumption that this happens in an operational Air Force setting as well. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The drama television series is about Emily Thorne who is really Amanda Clarke, whose father was framed for treason when she was a little girl. After a lengthy trial, he was imprisoned for life, and was murdered in prison by the agents who framed him. She has now returned to the Hamptons as an adult to get revenge on those who wronged her father. Not only is Revenge entertaining it also pushes the norm to see how far you will go for someone you love. I will dissect this television series into five different elements act, agent(s), agency, scene, and purpose. In Revenge the act is Emily pushing for revenge against the Grayson s. The agent is Emily Thorne (Amanda Clarke). The agency is her background on the Grayson s, Nolan Ross, and her background in martial arts. Nolan Ross is basically her sidekick and guardian angel. He keeps her grounded and watches her back. He keeps her on track and points out her options. The scene is set in the Hamptons with Emily planning her revenge against the people who wronged her father. Family, honor, duty, and love (Amanda goal is to clear her father and she shows no bounds for which she will go to do this) are the purpose for this show. After watching this series I believe that the dominant elements are the purpose and agent. Without the purpose of her trying to clear her father s name the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, pagans and Christians both produced similar non verbal, iconographical images that pointed to a shared conceptual backcloth in which both pagans and Christians had a prior agreement in a form of life. This form is largely defined through the relationship between death and the afterlife. One such form involves the iconographical depictions of events that occurred in the catacombs themselves refrigeria meals (in the Christian case) to commemorate the apostles and future saints Peter and Paul, or even the deaths of everyday Christians. The benefit of association provided by collective catacomb burial, as well as artistic depictions of virtues on tombs, was one that crossed different religious and class groups; these associations suggest that, at least up until the third century, these types of shared experiences were an important way for an individual to connect their life (and death) to wider society as a whole. This, in turn, helped people make sense of the world that both Christians and pagans lived in. Thus, it is sufficient to say that Christian catacomb art, compared to pagan catacomb art, does not necessarily reflect any distinctly more confident belief in the afterlife than the other; rather, art served as a sort of consolation between the life one lived and how they hoped to be remembered after death, especially in the lower class. Yet, just like burial, Christian art was a way for Christians to find specific meaning in their collective Roman experience. The emergence of Christian art reflected the emergence of a characteristically Christian social identity, one that revolved primarily around the interpretation of biblical narratives. While it is true that both Christians and pagans used similar artistic types, it is also true that even when similar iconographical figures were depicted, Christians and pagans were attracted to icons that reflected their specific religious beliefs. To cope with this, he created a friend for himself, helping him keep his sanity and to be less lonely. At times, he lost motivation, and he almost gave up. Noland learned how to get food, clean water, and make a shelter in the four years he was on the island, fulfilling his basic needs . Ultimately, the main reason he almost died multiple times while marooned was because he was alone. Love and belongingness needs are one of the most important needs for human survival because without human interaction, one could lose their sanity, motivation, and can become lonely. Some people who follow Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs believe that the basic needs are the most important needs. Seeing as how the basic needs include food, water, and rest, this makes sense. Without those essentials, one will die. In the book The Clay Marbleby Minfong Ho, in chapter nine, a young refugee named Dara is walking back to her campsite after being separated from her family. I noticed an old man looking at me curiously. He was sitting with his own family, holding a plate of cold rice. I looked at it hungrily, but could not bring myself to ask for any food. Dara is rejecting asking for food, and yet the only reason she is there in the first place is to find her family. • 37. Describe The Relationship Between Termites And Dermatobia... 1. A phoretic relationship is when two different species, who benefit from one another, travel together throughout their relationship. An example of phoresis is the species of fly, Dermatobia hominis. The fly attaches the larvae to another insect such as a mosquito and when the mosquito travels and feeds on an animal or human, the eggs hatch and the larvae burrows itself into it s skin. 2. Mutualism is when both parties of the relationship benefit from the association. Obligatory mutualism is when both species depend on one another in the relationship because otherwise they would not be able to survive alone. 3. The obligatory relationship between termites and gut protozoa is very important. Termites bodies do not produce the necessary enzymes that are essential in digesting the cellulose in wood. Another type of multiple fission called sporogony where meiosis occurs before mitosis. 16. When the union of whole cell gametes are similar they are called isogametes. When they differ they are called anisogametes. 17. Two individual ciliates unite and fuse their pellicles at the point of contact. The macronucleus in each ciliate disintegrate and then the micronuclei undergo meiosis to produce four haploid pronuclei and two of four of these pronuclei degenerate. The migratory pronucleus from each individual ciliate moves into the other to fuse with the stationary pronucleus and restores the diploid status. The cells then separate and undergo nuclear division to produce macronuclei. The resulting cells are called exconjugates and are now ready to undergo sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The question that has yet to be answered, even after fifty plus years, is John Cages music really music or is it just noise? The dictionary definition of music is the following: vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. My personal version of the definition of musicis a variant of the definition listed above. Music is simply different sounds combined in different rhythms. However, simply because my definition of music similarly matches with John Cage s definition doesn t mean that the listener must modify their definition, because in any definition of music that a person creates they cannot argue the fact that music is varying sounds combined with rhythm. Crucial to alleviating the cost pressures the departments face is patrol force allocation. Most of the budgets go to salaries and expenses, such as fringe benefits, which mean that increases in personnel utilization efficiencies would result in dollar savings. As such, it is the duty of policechiefs to determine what the patrols will look like regarding when and where the patrols will take place. This paper, thus, seeks to outline how the Centervale Police Department should allocate patrol resources to best serve the needs of Centervale. Patrols are meant to eliminate criminal opportunities by creating an impression of presence in the community. However, patrols do not decrease an individual s desire to break the law but by diminishing the opportunities to commit crime, they promote a sense of safety to residents. The direct cause of gingivitis is plaque the soft, sticky, colorless film of bacteria that forms on the teeth and gums. If the plaque is not removed by daily brushing and flossing, it will produce toxins that can irritate the gums causing gingivitis (Colgate. 2014). The most common cause of Gingivitis is poor oral hygiene(Mayo Clinic. 2017). The gums are attached to the teeth at a lower point of the gums edge that cannot be seen. This forms a space called a sulcus. When food gets trapped in this space an infection or Gingivitis may occur. Infections can occur from plaque build up. TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY EFFECTS ON COMPOSITE MATERIAL PROPERTIES ANSHUL and RAHUL ABSTRACT This paper discusses the different properties of composite materials under static testing condition to determine the effect of aging due to change in temperature and moisture content. Effects on tensile, shear, impact, stiffness and fatigue parameters are studied. For each property, application specific composite materials are taken into consideration with different stacking sequence and number of plies. Different samples of these are then introduced to different hygrothermal environments for example: temperatures ranging from 50 degree Celsius to +50 degree Celsius or kept in wet conditions for 24 hours at different temperatures of 21, 37 and 50 degree Celsius etc. Different tests are performed based on the material property to observe a change from the initial unaged specimen. To study every property a different test method is discussed. A final comparison for each property between the unaged and aged specimen is shown in order to see the property s dependence on temperature and moisture. This comparison highlights the temperature and moisture dependent properties and showcase a trend. Properties like tensile modulus, shear modulus, shear strength, flexural stiffness and fatigue life show a decrease with increase in temperature and moisture content while Poisson s ratio and impact strength increase with increase in temperature and moisture content. Hofstede s Cultural Dimensions Comparison Hofstede s Cultural Dimensions Comparison When a business decides to venture internationally into different countries with its products, services, and operations, it is very important that the company gains an understanding of how the culture of the different societies affects the values found in those societies. Geert Hofstede conducted one of the most famous and most used studies on how culture relates to values. Hofstede study enabled him to compare dimensions of culture across 40 countries. He originally isolated four dimensions of what he claimed summarized different cultures power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism versus collectivism, and masculinity versus femininity (Hill, 2013, p.110). To cover aspects of values not discussed in the original paradigm Hofstede has since added two more dimensions Confucianism or long term orientation and indulgence versus self restraint (Hofstede, n.d.). Because of the way Hofstede s cultural dimensions are given an index score from 0 100, it is easy for a company to get a general comparison between the cultures they are expanding into and the culture they are already in.
