Dress Code Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Dress Code" presents a unique set of challenges that extend
beyond the apparent simplicity of the topic. While it might seem like a straightforward matter,
delving into the intricacies of dress codes requires a nuanced approach. The difficulty lies in
striking a balance between addressing the practical aspects of dress codes and exploring the
broader societal implications.
Firstly, defining the scope of the essay can be challenging. Dress codes vary across contexts –
be it in educational institutions, workplaces, or social settings. Each setting necessitates a distinct
examination of the rules, norms, and expectations governing attire. Understanding the diverse
perspectives and purposes behind these codes adds complexity to the analysis.
Moreover, navigating the fine line between personal expression and conformity poses a
cognitive challenge. Individuals view dress as a form of self-expression, and essayists must
delicately discuss how dress codes may infringe upon this personal aspect without overlooking
the reasons behind their implementation.
Addressing the social, cultural, and gender dynamics associated with dress codes adds another
layer of intricacy. The essay must navigate the historical context of dress codes, examining how
they have evolved and often reflect societal norms and power structures. Discussing gendered
expectations and potential biases introduces a layer of sensitivity that requires careful
consideration.
The research process can be time-consuming, as it involves not only understanding the specific
dress code under consideration but also delving into academic literature, case studies, and
sociological perspectives. Drawing meaningful conclusions and proposing recommendations for
improvement requires a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
In conclusion, composing an essay on dress codes demands a thoughtful and comprehensive
approach. Balancing the examination of specific regulations with a broader exploration of
societal implications, personal expression, and cultural contexts is no easy task. As with any
essay, meticulous research, careful consideration of diverse viewpoints, and the artful crafting of
arguments are essential to producing a well-rounded and insightful piece.

Soccer Vs American Youth Soccer
Introduction One of the most popular sports in America today is soccer. The
American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and US Youth Soccer are the two

Uncovering a plan for a terrorist attack usually requires paying attention to what is
known as pattern of life . Pattern of life intelligence looks at the behaviors of a
community and looks for actions that are out of the ordinary. Preventing an attack
begins with keeping track of the chemicals used to manufacture Sarin and looking
for suspicious activities that can lead to its discovery. Since one of the primary
chemicals, Methylphosphonyl difluoride, is classified as a Schedule 1 chemical
under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), there are very strict reporting
requirements for its manufacture and sale. In addition to tracking the sale and
movement of the chemicals used to produce Sarin, there are other signs to look for
that can draw the interest of local authorities. The requirements of the CWC
describe two categories of Schedule 1 chemical production activities that are not

Isolation In A Rose For Emily
William Faulkner wrote a short story called A Rose for Emily. This story stuns
many readers starting from the beginning to the end. This story is based upon a
woman named Miss Emily Grierson and the isolated life she lives. The people in
the town she lives in gossip about her life. As this story goes on, readers can see
how Emily and her mental status changes. In the end of the story, it talks about
how the townspeople discovered a gruesome murder that Miss Emily committed.
The ending can give a sense to readers that something was not right with her. This
story can be portrayed as how Miss Emily begins to become mentally unstable,
which leads to a psychotic break because of social isolation, the death of her father,
and the influences of society. In this story, Miss Emily goes through so much that
she is ... living as a lonely recluse in her family s decaying aristocratic house for
more than forty years until her death (Hsu and Wang 87). When Emily s father was
still alive, ... he chases off every suitor that comes near her, denying Emily the
choice of taking up the traditional role of wife... and ... isolating her from the
townspeople (Hsu and Wang 89). The strictness of her father and the fact that Emily
... tries to live in the old aristocratic honor... has kept Emily living all alone and
separated from the town (Hsu and Wang). Living alone with only one person, her
manservant, impacted her social life. This severe time of isolation affected her
mental stability because
Flaws In Research Paper
Flaws in current grading policies prove that the use of the report card as a means of
measuring student achievement must be revised. Report cards are much too vague;
they do not allow parents and students to truly understand how a student is
performing. There is some idea of what is a good or bad grade, but what does it
mean? The amount of value given to these letters also promotes students to have an
unhealthy obsession with them. The only way to break free from these issues is to
implement a new grading system.
Report cards do not demonstrate why a student receives a certain grade. They merely
state the grade. It may appear that a student with a low grade has a lot of room for
improvement, but how can this be facilitated when said pupil ... Show more content

In this case, there are no major parties standing in the way. Educational reform is just
within grasp, so why is its occurrence still absent? These reforms would change the
way children generations from now learn for the better, imbuing a sense of
clarification and satisfaction with every step taken on their educational path.
Education is about the wonder and inspiration learning can bring, not anxiety about
being placed into a category. Massive changes such as these are going to have some
opposition, but people must keep in mind that these long overdue reforms are to

Crocs Case Study Essay
CASE: Crocs, Inc. 1. Which comparable company is a useful peer for valuation
purposes as of the case date? Will it continue to be a good match into the future?
Lululemon is a useful peer for valuation purposes as of the case date. There are
three main factors to determine a useful peer. First one is comparable growth.
Fiscal year 2006 sales growth of Crocs had been %227 and growth of over %130 was
likely for fiscal year 2007. On the other side, compound annual growth rate of sales
of Lululemon is over %100 (Exhibit 4). Second main factor is risk. Since that Crocs
and Lululemon are new highgrowth brands, they have comparable risks. Last one is
profit margin. Crocs has high margins on its products as a result of economies of

Postpartum Depression During The Postpartum Period
The postpartum period is about going through change and transition from a woman
to a new mother. This is a time where mothers restore muscle tone and connective
tissue in the body after the birth of the baby. Although there is a dramatic change
during the postpartum period, women s body is nonetheless not fully stored to pre
pregnant physiology until about 6 months post delivery (Osailan, 6). At this time,
women need to receive special health and social support to prevent problems such as
postpartum depression. During this period, culture plays a major role in the way a
woman perceives and prepares for her birthing experience. In fact, the notions of birth
and postnatalcare vary considerably with cultural beliefs and traditional practices.
Each culture has its own values, beliefs and practices related to pregnancy and birth
(Osailan,1). In the United States, after a short hospital stay, moms and babies are
sent home because it is expected for mothers to heal within 42 days after giving birth.
Whereas in other societies like Mexico, the postpartum recovery is active long
enough until the new mother is fully healed (Brenhouse). In the article, Why Are
America s Postpartum Practices So Rough on New Mothers? by Hilary Brenhouse,
the author states, With these rituals comes an acknowledgment, familial and federal,
that the woman needs relief more at this time than at any other especially if she has a
career to return to and that it takes weeks, sometimes months, to properly
The Ugly Side Of Climate Change
It is far better for ourselves and the planet if we adapt to climate change instead of
trying to stop it completely. Climate change is a natural phenomenon with many
factors that contribute to it. We humans are one of those factors. Sure, we can do
many things in our daily lives to hopefully lessen our footprint. But really, will all
this add up to be enough? In the here and now I would argue no. The ugly side of
climate changeis very much alive right now, and it is only going to continue to get
much worse. I think it would be best if we began preparing and changing with the
effects now versus later when it could very well be too late for us.
Climate change is a real issue today and now that can actually be seen in many
places. You can physically witness it in places such as Colorado, where the
Colorado River is slowly drying up. Many rivers across the world face this same
exact problem. It is obvious that we humans suffer from the changes in the climate
around the world. However, we are not the only ones. The surrounding ecology of
the areas affected by climate change will also be damaged. We will see a large
change or erasing of the ecosystems around us. Being an animal/nature lover in this
day and age is a hard task indeed. Thankfully many countries right now are taking
action to deal a blow to climate change. In fact, there was a recent meeting in France,
where multiple countries took a pledge to reduce carbon emissions in their respective
locations. One has to ask
Essay on Texas s Political Culture
Political Culture
Texas political culture is one that can be described as a combination of three main
ideas: individualistic, traditionalism and moralism. Considering Texas and its
overwhelming 254 counties we can see these main ideas undoubtedly. The 254
counties each have their own general set of ideas, attitudes and beliefs. The whole
state of Texasis simply not just considered individualistic, traditionalism, or
moralism, it is considered all three. Individualistic, traditionalism and moralism are
all strong values that coexist in our society and they all affect how we as the people
live our lives. A political culture shapes a region s politics.
Texas has all three political cultures all over the state, but when people outside of ...

Individualism is the belief of self reliance. Texas is also known for being on its own.
Which leads to its famous saying, you ve got nobody to blame but yourself. They
are all about being the self made man. An individualist prefers privacy, is suspicious
of public institutions, and is an independent contractor. This attitude ties into our low
active government. Government is sought out to be at low cost and out of the way
of its voters. Texas government is very limited, and has a legislature that meets
biennially. Due to our isolation, public education is under funded and is at its high in
many court battles and legislative conflicts. The heart of individualism would be
laissez faire. In Britannica, laissez faire is the policy of minimum governmental
interference in the economic affairs of individuals and society. Laissez faire is
basically telling government to leave them alone. The whole concept is to keep
minimum government interference in business.
Moralism is all about the community and a commonwealth. They are suspicious of
private institutions and interests. An example would be social security, social welfare
programs, and public education programs. A moralist is all about being equal with
people, everyone needs a fair share. Austin Texas has a lot of business there. They are
big or moralism because of its big community.
The Impact Of The Affordable Care Act Of 2010
Health Care Reform
The Affordable Care Act of 2010 expanded access to health insurance in the United
States to millions of uninsured individuals. Early findings indicate that there have
been significant reductions in the rate of uninsured among the poor and working age
adults. Consequently, the number of adults who did not get needed health care
because of cost declined as well as the number of adults who reported problems
paying their medical bills. Hpwever, despite the many advances the Affordable Care
Act provided towards health care reform, there are still flaws to the system.

These declines are most likely due to the increased number of Americans with
health insurance. Fewer Americans reported financial difficulties due to medical
expenses in 2014. The number of adults who said they had problems paying their
medical bills in the past 12 months or were paying off medical debit declined from
75 million people in 2012 to 64 million in 2014 (Collins et al., 2015).
Despite the improvements made toward health reform, there are still problems that
need to be address. There are still cost related access problems among insured
adults, particularly among people with lower incomes. According to the
Commonwealth Fund Biennial Health Insurance Survey of 2014, 33 percent of
adults who had been insured all year with incomes under 200 percent of poverty
and 25 percent with incomes above that level said they did not get needed care
because of costs in the past 12 months (Collins et al., 2015). The high deductibles
and cost sharing in both employer and individually purchased private plans lead
many adults to delay or avoid needed care (Collins et al., 2015). Also there is still a
large share of adults who were insured all year but still struggle to pay their medical
bills. People with lower incomes reported these problems at the highest rates. One
third (34%) of adults with incomes under 200 percent of poverty who were insured
all year
The Population Of Urban Areas
CHAPTER 1:INTRODUCTION According to census defined homeless as
houseless households. Households which do not live in buildings or census house
but live in the open or roadside, pavement, in Hume pipes, under fly over and
staircase, or in the open in places of worship, man daps, railway platform etc. Are
treated as homeless households. Households living in dilapidated homes or
households without access to basic amenities, infrastructure or services apart from
households with too many members living under a single roof (congestion factor)
should also be termed as homeless. The census has found that between 2001 and
2011 homeless population in urban areas grew by 20.5% but in rural areas it
declined by 28.4%. Census 2011 has presented data on homeless household s size.
Most number of homeless households at the national level comprises single
member households to be followed by 7+ members households. The population of
homeless in urban areas (9.4 lakhs) is more than that in rural areas (8.3 lakhs). In
India Uttar Pradesh (3.3 lakhs), Maharashtra (2.1 lakhs), Rajasthan (1.8 lakhs),
Madhya Pradesh (1.46 lakhs), Andhra Pradesh (1.45 lakhs), Gujarat (1.4 Lakhs) are
highest state for homeless people.(Decline in homeless population: Census data

Differences And Similarities Between Citizen Kane And
Rosebud
The 1941 film, Citizen Kane, directed, co written, and starring Orson Welles, is
arguably the greatest movie ever made. No movie before was made like Citizen
Kane, and every movie made after was different because of it. Welles portrayal of
Charles Foster Kane (Orson Welles) takes us on a journey through the life of a man
overcome by greed and unconsciously fueled his need for love and security. We are
shown the events of Kane s life through an investigation by reporter Jerry Thompson
(William Alland), after Kane s death. Thompson interviews those who were once
closest to Kane in hopes of discovering the meaning of Kane s last words, Rosebud.
Through Thompson s investigation we get fragmented portrayals of Kane, and while

Early in Thatcher s narration we see Kane playing in the snow with Rosebud, Kane s
mother Mary Kane (Agnes Moorehead) is making arrangements to send her son
away with her financial advisor, Walter Thatcher (George Coulouris), after becoming
enormously wealthy. We never truly get an explanation as to why Mary Kane sends
her son away except for when she tells her husband, Kane s Father, that he will never
get at him again, revealing that his father may be abusive, and that being sent away is
what s best for him, although this becomes questionable throughout the film. When
Kane is about to be taken away, he uses his sled to push away Thatcher. The sled
represents a physical barrier, and in this case, symbolized Kane pushing away a life
of adulthood and responsibility. Kane s resentment towards Thatcher progresses
throughout the film as he seemingly does everything he can to spite Thatcher, getting
kicked out of the nation s best schools and spending money carelessly on an art and
business endeavours set out to embarrass
If Shakespeare Can Do It
If Shakespeare Can Do It Because my wife has an English degree, she always
defends her made up words and grammar rules by simply stating, Shakespeare did it,
I can too. Now, I don t always agree with her just because I have an English degree
attitude, but we do agree on one small thing: The written English language needs a
singular gender neutral pronounthat replaces the clunky alternatives English speakers
have now. English is a relatively young language compared to most others still around
today. Currently, we are taught that the use of singular theyis incorrect, and instead
we should use either he, him or her, or s/he, when referring to someone whose gender
is unclear. Others say English writers should move toward a singular pronounto use
with a singular antecedent.
How perfect is it that English speakers already use this particular pronoun? Singular
they. Think about it. Typically, when people speak, they do not use his or her or s/he.
People use they when referring to one person of an undetermined gender. For
example, Someone left their coat here, we should let them know. That makes perfect
sense to us. We know that them in this sentence refers to the singular antecedent
someone.
Language evolves alongside it s society, because of this, you don t see many
English speakers still using thou to refer to one person. As many people know,
singular thou was a more formal and polite way of saying you . Sometime in the 18th
century, the use of

The Gilded Age And Imperialism Expansion

Part I: Short Essay Format
Question #1, American attitudes toward our culture can be paradoxical The Gilded
Age or Imperialism expansion examine the conflicting values that America held for
each.
The gilded age was a period in history that caused a vast transformation due to the
increase of American industrialization. Values and attitudes toward The Gilded Age
varied.
The poor workers often saw the changed caused by the Gilded Age as corrupt,
where the rich business men looked at it as a positive change. The poor laborers in
the gilded age often viewed the change that occurred during the era as a negative
one. The fact that working conditions for laborers were poor was no secret. A
passage from Upton Sinclair s The Jungle depicts these conditions of an old man
stating, He worked in a place where his feet were soaked in chemicals and it was
not long before the chemicals had eaten through his boots. Then sores began to
break out on his feet and grew worse and worse. In the end of this story the man
continued to work until he died because he needed to take care of his family. This
alone would tend to develop an attitude of negativity by poor immigrants and
laborers toward changes made by the gilded. For more proof one can find various
examples of strikes and civil unrest by workers usually against business owners and
police. This too is evidence that the poor laborers of the time were unhappy with their
situation.

Boulder Model Vs. Vail Model
Students who consider doctoral level studies in clinical psychology often face a
very confusing range of training options. It is often a choice between the Boulder
Model (PhD) and Vail Model (PsyD). Applicants in general need to be aware of the
difference between both these models in order to fully utilize their time and
resources and start their career. The Boulder and Vail Model are two important
training models in clinical psychology.
The Boulder and Vail Models
The Boulder Model also known as the Scientist Practitioner Model awards a PhD
(doctor of philosophy) to its trainees, while preparing them for both practical and
academic world. The Vail Model on the other hand, also known as the Practitioner
Scholar Model awards a PsyD (Doctor of Psychology) degree. The main differences
in both are discussed below.

After getting great appreciation from the whole psychological and academic
community, the model was accredited.
The main purpose of the Boulder Model is to improve scientific growth when it
comes to clinical psychology. Research methodology, field work and psychological
theory are taken as a base to develop a proper research background for the
psychologists. Empirical research is greatly encouraged in clinicians through this
model for influencing practice. The Boulder Model sees continuous advancement,
refinement and perfection of the scientific models in psychology.
The Boulder Model helped make PhD a required degree in most academic fields.
Most Boulder model programs in clinical psychological degrees award a PhD. It also
helped promote the idea that the proper location for the training of students was not
in a separate institution but within the original department of the university. Clinical
psychologists through this model are trained to work in both the practical and
academic world.

Reasons Why People Go Into The Western Frontier
There are many people and many reasons why people were going into the western
frontier. According to Google, the definition frontier is the extreme limit of
understanding or achievement in a particular area. The sudden move to the west
was originally caused by gold being found. Settlers would pack up everything and
move to the west to get rich. Instead, they found wild cattle, copper, silver, and
probably most important, Indians. Because of the lack of law and government
control out in the west, lots of criminals would go out there to escape the law. One
example being Billy the kid. However, many of these criminals became legends, law
men, and ranchers. In Tombstone they found silver and people came flocking to get a
claim. In Bisbee, they
The First Crusade Cause And Effect
The First Crusade, a time of strife, war, and bloodshed. The First Crusade was a
war for the Holy Land. It was called into effect by Pope Umbar II in an attempt to
reclaim the Holy Land from the Jews and to return it to Christianity and to assist in
repelling the Turks. Pope Umbar II delivered a speech about how the people of
God needed to join forces and fight for Jerusalem. The speech spoke of how this
war would be in God s name, that those who participated would receive absolution
from sin and eternal glory. This speech had an incredible effect upon the Christian
population, it inspired such a large amount of people, both plebeian and nobility, to
rise to the cause and fight for the Holy Land, as their current army was built entirely
from volunteers. While it is true that religious beliefs would have motivated many to
the cause, the promise of riches in the lands of Jerusalem also led many to fight in
the Crusades.
Throughout the 11th century, the Byzantine Empire began to receive many attacks
from invading Seljuk Turks. It was this that caused Byzantine Emperor Alexius to
ask for Pope Urban II for support in their fight against the Turks. Pope Urban II
called upon the western Christians to aid the Byzantines and to recover the Holy
Land in the year 1095.The people s overwhelming response to his call as European
Christians lept at the opportunity to fight the Muslims and to Recover their Holy
Land. In the year 1096 Peter the Hermit and Walter Sansavoir led around
The Vietnam War and its Subsequent Ties to the Cold War
Essay
The Cold War was a prolonged period of political and military tension between
countries on the side of democracy and those on the side of communism, the major
players being the United States belonging to the former and the Soviet Union
belonging to the latter (Westad). While the Cold War was known as such because
there were no direct wars between the two major powers, there was large scale
fighting in Vietnam. The Vietnam War (1954 75) is thought of as a historical
consequence of the Cold Warand hence a proxy war between the socialist and
capitalist blocs, although many historians provide a second perspective, which is that
the war was simply a nationalist struggle for national independence and reunification.
While the latter argument... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The leaders of the new struggles were the radical Confucian intellectuals who were
heavily influenced by the Western theories and particularly by the reformist
movements in Japan and China. They belonged to the Generation of the Lasts and the
Firsts as David G. Marr calls them: the generation of the last Confucian leaders and of
the first Vietnamese who accepted Western theories (Marr). The defeat of the anti
French movements in the late nineteenth century prompted these patriotic Confucian
intellectuals to analyze the reasons for their failure and to find new strategies to
wage the nationalist struggle. The development of the reform movement in China,
and particularly the successes of the Meiji reform movement in Japan, strongly
influenced these Vietnamese intellectuals (Lawrence). The Second World War (1939
45) radically changed the world order. It also changed the destiny of Vietnam. As
war broke out in Europe, Ho Chi Minh left the USSR and quickly moved to south
China. The ICP launched two armed revolts, one in the north in September 1940 and
the other in the south in November 1940 (Lawrence). Like other revolts of that time,
the abortive insurrections led by the communists were quickly and brutally
suppressed by the French. Within a few months the ICP lost thousands of its
members, and most of its high ranking leaders,
The During The Gilded Age America Experienced The
Second...
During the Gilded Age America experienced the Second Industrial Revolution .
Between the end of the Civil War and the early twentieth century, the United States
underwent one of the most rapid and profound economic revolutions any country
has ever experienced. There were numerous causes for this explosive economic
growth. The country enjoyed abundant natural resources, a growing supply of
labor, an expanding market for manufactured goods, and the availability of capital
for investment. The uprising of big businesses, railroads, and factory transformed
America from being based on small farm work into an industrial powerhouse.
During the Second Industrial Revolution the role of big business in federal and
state governments was a monumental turning point in the history of this country,
setting a foundation which has come to play a big role in government policy
today. In a time period where the American Government did not have a real system
in place for becoming an elected official, a great portion of the government was
corrupted by people put in place by owners of big businesses and in turn they agreed
to pass laws or do other favors for their benefit. Moguls such as John D. Rockefeller,
and Andrew Carnegie played major roles big business. The rapid expansion of
factory production, mining, and railroad construction in all parts of the country
except the South signaled the transition from Lincoln s America a world centered on
the small farm and artisan workshop to a
Handwriting Writing Characteristics
Handwriting is a skill many people acquire at a young age. Handwriting is something
that is individual to a specific person based on individual characteristics. Special
examiners who are trained to examine documents and handwritings can compare
samples and identify class characteristics, individual characteristics, and use vision
and technology to make a positive connection or disconnection between a subject
sample and the comparisonsample. The act of handwriting is accomplished through
practice and repetition. Most people learn to write by copying letter formations
from a copybook at a young age (Harrison, D., Burkes, T., Seiger, D). Class
characteristics would include everyone who learned how to write their letters with
the traditional lined paper and were taught letter formation and spacing. Someone
who lives in America may have learned how to write differently from someone who
lives in a foreign country but it still holds the basic concept of forming letters or
symbols to make words. Once handwriting itself is mastered, people tend to adopt
individual characteristics that set their writingapart from others. The writing becomes
a pattern of subconscious, habitual formations that are repeated from one writing to

The Holy Spirit And The Church
From the Day of Pentecost until now, and it will be true until the second coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit occupies a peculiar position in the church.
The whole administration and direction of the affairs of the church was left in the
hands of the Holy Spirit by the Lord Jesus. His office is to administer and energize
the program of the church. He manifests the power of God in the church, and
through the church. He uses each individual of Christians to exalt Christ and edify
the church. When the Holy Spirit indwells in a Christian, He brings with Him the
gift or gifts designed for each one of Christians (1 Cor. 12:7, 11, 18) A spiritual gift is

CHARISMATA: The Greek word Charismata comes from the root word Charis
meaning grace. This is the term used in 1 Corinthians 12:4. It is also found in 1

general term. It may be used of all spiritual gifts. But there are different kinds of

The Breaking Apart of South African Families
South Africa has long been known for the racist policies that were implemented by
the government during apartheid. In reality, many of these policies were introduced
before apartheid, and thus South Africa today is affected by centuries rather than just
a few decades of racism. The racial practice and policies of the nineteenth century that
developed out of South Africas mineral revolution were then carried into the
apartheid era, and are of particular importance for black South African families. The
desires of the white population to have sufficient labour and to monitor it while
reserving urban areas for whites occasioned the government to create restrictive laws
starting in the late nineteenth century which were carried into apartheid. These laws
and practices broke apart the South African black family and has resulted in enduring
consequences for black families and South Africa. With the mineral revolution,
African men began to leave their families to go and work. From the beginning of
European and African interaction in South Africa, the whites have been dependent
on African labour, the mineral revolution merely intensified this. It also led to an
agricultural revolution in order to feed the workers. African labour was cheaper
than white labour and so they were desired by employers. This demand for cheap
labour led to an availability of jobs which tempted some African men to migrate to
these areas of work. There was continually a shortage, however, and the government
Differences Between Sea Oats And Camphorweed
On the Cabretta beach dunes, there is an abundance of vegetation that encompasses
the area of the quadrant for each stop. The most plant diversity of one stop, was
observed in a swale (Dune Stop 2), with weed oats, wax myrtle, rushes, and dog
fennel. These four plants solely appeared in the swale. Sea oats and camphorweed
were the most abundant planttypes in the dunes; additionally, sea oats and
camphorweed can be found in multiple dune environments. Sea oats were found in
dune crests, between two troughs, and in the fore dune, having most abundance in
the crests, while camphorweed was found in inter dune meadows, between two
troughs, and in the fore dune, having most abundance in the inter dune meadows
(Figure ). These two plants displayed significant height differences in various dune
territories. In the crest, sea oats measured at a height of 105cm, but as they grow
closer to the ocean, they increase by ~63cm. As for camphorweeds, they grew to be
roughly 60cm in the inter dune meadows and fore dune; however, in between the two
troughs, the plant stood at an average height of... Show more content on

When gathering data from the modern marsh, eight different quadrants that were 15

The Railroad Era And The Progressive Era
The modern California emerged from the progressive era and World War 1, an
important economic transformation and dramatic population change were under way.
New, thriving industries in oil and the making of motion pictures turned Los Angeles
into a booming manufacturing city just as a new migration brought hundreds of
thousands of residents to the region. The decade after World War 1 was one of rapid
economic development, marked by the evolution of modern, large scale business
organizations and the pervasive influence of the automotive. The railroad era and the
Progressive erahas contributed the transformation of modern California in the first
half of the 20th century.
To begin with, in the 1914 Gertrude Atherton coined the phrase, The terrible
Seventies for a chapter in her book, California, an Intimate History California s, but
not for all.Tens of thousands of farmers, urban laborers, and white collar workers
benefited from the opportunity the railroads brought. The railroad was the most
significant technology to emerge in the nineteenth century. It brought about new
patterns of transportation and communication, which in turn revolutionized
economies, institutions, and social behavior. Railroads not only accelerated
settlement if the West, but aso forgot much of what we call modern in American life.
Like the rest of the nation, California experienced these transformations beginning in
the 1860s and continuing into the early twentieth century that has contributed to
Gun Culture Research Paper
Gun Culture in the United States
In this text, I shall focus on the gun culture in the United States, discussing the
negative and positive side of this matter.
What makes the USA different from other developed countries is their right to own
private guns, and the citizens makes full use of this law. Approximately under half of
the American households have at least one gun. This makes the United States the
highest country in the world when it comes to ownership of private guns. The
ownership of private guns varies significantly from state to state. Many studies shows
that gun ownership is more common in the countryside s than the big cities. The
reasons people give for owning guns varies too, from hunting to target shooting but
the most common reason is for self defence.
Now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many studies shows that unintentional shooting occur more often when it comes to
home defence situation. Statistics shows that one is more likely to shoot someone by
accident than shoot a home invader.
Owning a gun in the house may increase the possibility of suicide situations. It is
much easier to pull the trigger than to stab oneself with a knife.
In a country where guns can be found in approximately every households, we can
expect that mass killing can happen. According to Mother Jones (http:/
/www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/07/mass shootings map), most of the guns
that were used in the last 30 years of mass killing acts in the USA was owned legally
by the killers.
Conclusion
There is no straight answer to this matter and everyone can come up with things to
defend it or to go against it. My opinion is that in areas where criminality rate is
high a gun is needed to feel protected. There must still be more gun control. People
should be tested before they get to own a private gun. They should be tested for
mental illness and other illnesses that may make owning a private gun
Huckleberry Finn Moral Conflict Essay
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, Huck sailed down the
Mississippi river with a runaway slave named Jim. Throughout their journey, Huck
and Jim encountered a plethora of crazy, drunk, or immoral people. Huck came
across many controversial situations where he had to decide whether he would act
in accordance with societal norms or act based upon his own moral judgement.
Huck s largest moral conflict was deciding whether or not to turn Jim in. As the
book progressed, Huck and Jim s relationship grew stronger and stronger. Huck
originally thought and behaved as if Jim wasn t a human, and Huck and his pal,
Tom, would prank Jim. However, as Huck and Jim spent more time together on the
raft, Huck began to treat Jim as a human being rather than a piece of property. Once

his mind when Jim said, Dah you goes, de ole true Huck; de on y white genlman

social norm of the South said that one of the worst things someone could do was to
help a slave escape, but it is different in terms of natural law. The right thing to do
was help a slave because it was inhumane for any individual to be considered
property. While Huck was sailing towards the city, he met two slave hunters that
wanted to search the raft. He once again had a test of morals when they asked him,
Is your man white or black? (67). After a few moments of silence, Huck decided to
tell the two men that the man on the raft was white. Huck covered for Jim and said
that his pap was sick. Eventually, Huck successfully convinced the two men that his
pap had smallpox. According to the social law of the South he did the wrong thing,

Diction In Phenomenal Woman
The American poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou established a poem that
portrays the idea of self confidence and beauty beneath the surface. The poem titled,
Phenomenal Woman, written by Maya Angelou conveys the theme of self
confidence. All thorough the poem, Angelou introduces the conflict of the
controversial idea that every woman must live up to the expectations of others.
Additionally, Angelou had created the poem, Phenomenal Woman, with the intention
to inspire other women worldwide that there are no expectations that they should
fulfill throughout their lives. As a final point, Angelou produced an influential and
potent poem that conveys her opinions on the controversial topic of self confidence
in woman. Generally, poets... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem titled, Phenomenal Woman, written by Maya Angelou, the poet uses
diction in order to produce a consistent confident and passionate tone. Further,
Angelou uses repetition in order to enhance the tone and message that she is
conveying. Within the end of each of the stanzas, Angelou writes, I m a woman
Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That s me. The use of the word, Phenomenal,
creates a confident tone because Angelou is describing herself as extraordinary even
though she had previously stated that she does not succeed the expectations of what
beauty is considered to be. Moreover, the repetition of words within the poem
reminds the readers to pay close attention to certain aspects of the poem that are
critical in order to understand the message that the poet is trying to convey.
Additionally, Angelou demonstrates the use of an enjambment consistently
throughout the stanzas of her poem. For instance, in stanza two, the poet states, The
fellows stand or, (Line 17) and Fall down on their knees, (Line 18). By doing this,
the writer does not fully carry out the thought until the next line which keeps the
poem flowing. If the reader stopped at line 17, then he/she won t know what the
fellows had done other than standing. By incorporating punctuation after line 17, the
reader will pause and the full meaning of the sentence won t be carried out and fully
understood as a whole. Consequently, Angelou had created an enjambment. As
mentioned previously, the tone is determined by the use of diction. Throughout the
poem, Angelou uses informal diction such as it s and ought . In the first stanza,
Angelou states, It s in the reach of my arms, (Line 6). By incorporating the word
reach, it can represent Angelou s self assurance and how she strives towards her
goals since her arms are stretched confidently. As a result, it develops the tone by

we found the weight of the 10 ml of water by subtracting the weight of the water and
the cylinder by the weight of only the cylinder. We found the volumeof the water by
seeing how much the water rises but it did not rise from 10 ml mark because no
object or weight was in the water. The densityof the water is mass divided by volume.
Our volume was 1 ml and our, mass was 9.8g, and after dividing those two numbers
we got a density of .98g/ml. But the density of pure water is 1.0, and the density we
got for the density of tap water which is not pure water, is supposed to weigh more
than the pure water. In Lab 2 part 3 the wt of the 10 ml of salt water and G.C
together was 37g about 1g difference from the weight of 10 ml of H2O and the G.C.
The weight of the G.C alone is 27g. The weight of the salt water alone is 10g, the
volume of it was 10ml. The density of the salt water was 1g/ml. The discrepancy in
this data about part 1 and part 3 of lab 2.The data of the 2 parts only have a

Margolin Vs Novelty Now Case Study

In the case of Margolin v. Novelty Now the appropriate court for this lawsuit
depends upon several factors. In personal jurisdiction the book states that the courts
are given the power to provide a decision in affecting the rights of individuals
(Kubasek). In this case, the court will give a decision giving rights to Mr. Margolin,
and taking rights from Novelty Now. For subject matter jurisdiction, a certain
specified court will be able to hear the case This means, that it must be decided
which court hears the case, whether state or federal jurisdiction. Since this case
contains three different states, the federal court system must be the one to hear the
case. In this case, minimum contacts must be determined to decide if a certain state
will have power to assert personal jurisdiction over a defendant from another state
(Kubasek). In this case, it must be decided if New York will take personal
jurisdiction of the defendants residing in California, or Novelty Now residing in
Florida.
Alternative dispute resolution may be an option to resolve this case. ADR is a method
of resolving cases through methods other than court. These can be negotiation,
mediation, arbitration, mini trials, private trials, etc. (Kubasek). In this case,
negotiation outside of trial would be a good option for Funny Face. ADR is often
cheaper than a traditional trial as well. This way they would not have to face bad
publicity for this incident. This might also be a good idea for Mr. Margolin because
the case will go much faster, meaning he could get restitution much faster, and would
cut his legal costs as well.
Language on the Funny Face website appears to limit any claim filed to arbitration
as a means of resolving the dispute. Arbitration is a method of resolution to a case
by choosing a neutral third party outside a judicial setting (Kubasek). Arbitration
would be a good solution for both Mr. Margolin and Funny Face in this case. Mr.
Margolin would be able to explain his condition and provide medical evidence
stating that Funny Face was indeed the cause of his condition. However, a neutral
third party may believe that there was enough stated by Funny Face for Mr. Margolin

I Think Romantic Love Is Universal Because It Is A Legacy...
What is the meaning of love? Love is a powerful emotional and spiritual
recognition. It can provide a deep happiness, and a deep suffering when
unfulfilled. Love is one of the most valuable and cherished feelings in people s
lives. Love is known since the time of Adam and Eve. It makes one feel as if nothing
else is needed in order to survive in this world. The definitions of loveare the same
and yet different. There are many authors in stories and poems that use romantic love
like Shakespeare and Wislawa Szymborska. I think romantic love is universal
because it is a legacy of humanity s shared evolutionary past. Many people argue that
romanceis a clichГ©. It seems like in nearly every aspect of our culture, love has
been defined, redefined, misunderstood, denied or accepted. It includes happiness,
sadness, and everything else in the world. But each person experiences love in
their own terms. David H. Knox is the author that wrote the article Conceptions of
Love at Three Developmental Levels . He confirms, Love is an experience which
most have had or expect to have. Indeed, American culture teaches that, Love is the
greatest thing. It is an experience to be sought, and when achieved, to be cherished
(Knox 1). Knox suggested that everybody has their own experience about love.
Love is so unique and complex that no two people experience it in the same
capacity. Therefore, the word love is insufficient for conveying the nature of people s
feelings towards a beloved. It

The Use Of Mandatory Continuing Professional
Development...
The iconic journalist and one of the most trusted figures in American television,
Walter Cronkite once said that in seeking the truth, one must get to both sides of the
story [1]. It may be philosophically worded perhaps, but it is unequivocally true. As
such, the likely introduction of mandatory continuing professional development by
the PEO is a thorny topic that must be critically analyzed and scrutinized on both
ends of the spectrum. Those in support for continuing professional development argue
that practitioners get applicable training on the job and that certain concepts such as
ethics simply do not change and thus don t require a statue for mandatory continuing
development. However, others have an antipodal perspective, arguing that continuing
professional development should be mandatory to prevent loss of knowledge over
time and to allow members to keep at pace with the latest practices and procedures of
the engineeringprofession.
Perhaps the most convincing argument that those against continuing professional
development provide is that engineers get all the adequate skills training on the job.
This is most prevalent for new engineering graduates, that can spend up to two years
getting trained prior to starting the job. Take for example, Lehigh Hanson Canada
subsidiary of the building materials conglomerate, HeidelbergCement Group. New
graduates spend 24 months in a comprehensive program that provides on the job as
well as formal training [2]. To put in

Why Did The American Revolutionary War Began
How did the American Revolutionary War begin? The beginnings of the American
Revolutionary War dating back to 1754 1763, during the French and Indian War. The
English colonists were going deeper into the Ohio valley looking for new area to
settle. Subsequently, the French did not enjoy the uninvited guests; the French had
already established traders there. Eventually, the French built military strongholds.
Later, the Virginia colonists stepped in to retaliate against the French by building Fort
Necessity. When the Virginians sent an inexperienced young militia colonel named
George Washington to deter the French from building more forts, a skirmish between
the French and the English ignited yet another war, with before consequences than
before.

study. The experimenters goal was to analyze whether there was any correlation or
connection between the web page owner being a narcissist and the type of content
they had on their profile. With this type of study, the variables are not as familiar as
they might be when it comes to other experiments. The independent variable, or as
referenced in this article, the predictor variable, was the web pages owners measured
narcissism. Since the experimenter doesn t necessarily manipulate this variable, it is
known as the predictor variable instead. The dependent variable was the narcissistic
impressions of the raters, or observers of the web pages. There was an extra variable
in this experiment known as the proposed mediator. A proposed mediator is a model
used to identify and explain the procedures that root from the relationship between
the independent and dependent variables. In this case, the proposed mediators were
the quantity of social interaction, main photo attractiveness, main photo sexiness, and
main photo self promotion. The method of this experiment was as follows: The
Visiting The Milwaukee Art Museum From Jane Bradley
Pettit
While visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum the art piece that stood out to me the
most was Union II by Yaacov Agam in 1977, a gift to the museum from Jane
Bradley Pettit. This art piece was created with Oil on a piece of wood with a
repeated upside down V texture. It stood out to me the most because of how it
surprised me when I looked at it in a different perspective and the paintingchanged,
being 3 paintings in one. The art piece is viewable in the appendix section at the
end of the Analysis. Looking at each of the art angles we see that only the front
view shows implied lines with the separation of colors between the texture s slopes.
This texture is created by an upside down V hump throughout the artwork, which
can be seen in the Enhanced View in the appendix. Moving from Left Side to Right
Side the other artworks are shown at only certain angles, we see here lines become
complete rather than implied, becoming more abstract; this also shows that the
element of motion is from the viewer is needed to see this artwork completely. From
the front view the artwork shows implied shape, the left side, shows shape with
objects with curved edges and lines, and the right side shows objects with straight
/sharp edges. We can also say that, overall, this piece of artwork has form due to the
necessity for the artist to create these 3rd Dimensional V humps to show the other
artworks at their angles. This work of art also employed value as shown in all 3
angles, we can see that at
Demographic Changes In The United States Essay
The informative synopsis of how the demographic changes are taking place in
states with the regard to the workforce, states and regions are benefiting from these
changes, areas which are declining and why, as well as, the projections of the birth
rates and aging in the states over the next twenty five years. The economic
implications of these changes have on our states. Then finally how this all is related
to Federalism. The demographic changes that are taken place in the northern and
midwest states regarding the workforce have started to see a declining rate as the
baby boomers in those regions are reaching retirement age. Since women joined the
workforce, they are waiting to have children or not as many children. The reason that
most women are waiting to have children is that of college or getting their careers
going. The northern and midwest areas have their younger workforce looking for
jobs in the southern regions like Texas and Florida where the weather is warmer all
year. The states and regions that are benefiting from the decline in the northern and
midwest are the southern states. These northern and midwest states have declined
because of the colder climate then the southern states offer. This is not something that
the northern and midwest regions can make better to attract younger working class....

Therefore, the birth rate calculated by the researcher is only about 1.86 children
per women. As the baby boomer are reaching retirement year, the birth rate needs to
be at 2.08 per women. There would need to be an incentive for families to have
more children to bring the workforce to be balanced. Over the next twenty five
years, seventy two percent of our workforce will be at the retirement

Itemized Tax Deductions for Individuals: Data Analysis
Summary
Reforming or limiting itemized tax deductions for individuals has gained the interest
of policymakers as one way to increase federal tax revenue, increase the share of
taxes paid by higher income tax filers, simplify the tax code, or reduce incentives that
might lead to inefficient economic behavior. However, limits on deductions could
cause adverse economic effects or changes in the distributional burden of the federal
income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, certain combinations of deduction limits may shift some tax filers to claim
the standard deduction instead of itemizing. In this case, the revenue increase by
limiting itemized deduction would be partially offset by more tax filers claiming the
standard deduction.

12 Angry Men Rhetorical Analysis
Methodical: Juror Eight is very logical and he wants to cautiously look at all the
data that has been existed in the trial before making any other decisions. If the
jurors found the defendant guilty then the defendant in this case would be receiving
the death penalty and be executed and the play would end without any other drama
in it. Juror Eight takes the possibility of him being guilty or not very seriously and
examines every single evidences carefully not missing a single information. He does
not want to risk killing the defendant by mistake and by just following the facts.
Juror Eight is trying to make other jurors to believe that the defendant could be

Juror Eight kept in his mind that he needs to have evidence and think about the
evidences critically and proof to other jurors that the possibility of the defendant
being guilty could be less than what they think. He did not get personal about the
case and stood up by himself ignoring other ways of thinking. This shows how Juror
Eight was very patient even though at the beginning of the play he was all by
himself. At the end, he was successful in convincing the other jurors because he
understood the background and the personality of each juror as the time passed. This
quote signals Juror Eight s determination and patience to examine all the evidence
and make sure the evident character of the defendant s murder. The honest and
simply request encourages a great deal of powerful tension among the jurors, many
of whom are given to conflicting views. Logical: Nobody has to prove otherwise.
The burden of the proof is on the prosecution. The defendant doesn t have to open his
mouth. That s in the Constitution. You ve heard of

Lieutenant Steven Danielson And His Team
Lieutenant Steven Danielson and his team sat in the darkened team room. They

an informal bunch. Aye sir. The Lieutenant said. I ll be right there. Looks like we

Lieutenant Danielson headed to the head shed for the meeting once he arrived he

Aristotle’s Poetics Influence on the Ancient World
Aristotle presents the argument that tragedies are superior to epics. While tragedies
and epics are characterized in similar ways they also have their differences. A
tragedy, then, is the imitation of an action that is serious and also, as having
magnitude, complete in itself; in language with pleasurable accessories, each kind
brought in separately in the parts of the work; in a dramatic, not in a narrative form;
with incidents arousing pity and fear, wherewith to accomplish its catharsis of such
emotions. (Aristotle, 6) A Tragedyis better at arousing emotion in an audience than en
epic through the plot, characters, thought, diction, melody, and spectacle. The first
point the plot is the arrangement of the incidents. The plot... Show more content on

Thought literally deals with what is being said throughout the tragedy. It is assumed
this category also includes the themes of a tragedy. Themes can be viewed as the
overall lesson from the story. When the theme is thought about, emotions surface
and are related to everyday life. Thought is shown whenever a point is proven or a
truth is revealed. The power of saying whatever needs to be said at that point in time.
The arts of politics and rhetoric fall under this category in tragedies as speeches. At
times thought can be confused with character, but character exposes the moral
purpose. Thought validates or invalidates a particular circumstance. The fourth
point diction is the choice along with the use of words and phrases. In cases of
tragedy this could be speaking or singing. It is the composition of lines recited that
deal with how the lines are said. Verses that are fully understood and do not need
explaining. Diction is easier to overcome when used in a tragedy even if it does
not present a tragic effect. The fifth point melody is the utmost pleasurable piece of
a tragedy. By definition a melody is a sequence of single notes that is musically
satisfying. During a tragedy the melody is used as a musical accompaniment to
blend with the play appropriately. Therefore according to Aristotle the chorus should
be regarded as one of the actors (14). While the melody is a main component of
tragedies, it is not even used within epics, therefore making
Stapp And Kittinger Analysis
Brian,
Thanks for the nod in this piece. I feel compelled to adjust the impression people
might get reading it. Like you, Col. Stapp and Joe Kittinger were also two of my
childhood hero s. Col. Stapp bravely strapped himself into the seat of a rocket sled to
determine how much punishment a human could safely absorb during an ejection or
a sudden deceleration (crash). To this day, the results of Col. Stapp s experiments still
define the limits of human tolerance for the design of ejection systems and
crashworthy seats.
Rocket sleds are used to test anything that is designed for use in a high speed
aircraft. In this environment, Mr. Murphy rules and, given the opportunity,
anything can and will kill you. A pencil, a pen, a knee board or night vision
goggles in the wrong place when the pilot pulls the yellow handles, can be lethal.
Oregon Aero ejection seat cushion systems for high speed aircraft were no
exception and also had to ride the sled. Today, instrumented anthropomorphic
dummies rather than human beings collect the data. A Mach 1+ sled test is so fast
that it s not possible to watch all three phases of the test, acceleration, egress and
deceleration. One must pick one part of the event and focus or the whole thing is just
a blur. This was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The test seat and dummy are attached to a 2000 pound sled on rails then placed
against a powerful air cannon. To simulate a sudden stop and measure the
dummies spinal loads for injury, the sled is accelerated from zero velocity to 21
miles per hour in 50 milliseconds. That s a little less time than it takes to blink and
makes a big noise. Bang! For perspective, if the acceleration continued for one
second, the sled would exceed 422 miles per hour. For the drag race fans in the
audience, that s, 1,688 miles per hour in four seconds, Mach 2.19 or, more than
twice the speed of sound. I didn t, don t and have no intention of ever riding either a
rocket sled or a crash
Semester Exam Print Analysis

grandfather, who worked at at Coca Cola as a route salesman for thirty years, up
until his retirement. My grandfather s job single handedly support The first semester
exam print has been my favorite project by far, as I deeply enjoyed getting to
experiment with darkroom techniques that I had not tried before. After finding the
correct lighting and time exposure, and getting a good contrast of lights and darks in
my print, I decided to add a more dramatic emphasis to the photo. I achieved this by
utilizing the Halo clementines netting and by experimenting with selective

Jonas Guran Anel s Upbringing
Jonas Guran Anel s upbringing was rather different than those of many sleepers.
Born to a coven of voodooists in rural Haiti in 1964, Jonas was never truly asleep,
more than he was confused. Jonas had always been a witness to the esoteric rituals
of his ancestors carried out by contemporary African voodooists. He had seen
rather gruesome things such as human and animal sacrifices that made strange
impressions on the physical realm, smudging ceremonies that produced
amorphous screams, and so on. He even recanted seeing someone drop like a sack
of rocks at the utterance an incantation. What d he make of all of this? He wasn t
sure, and for twenty years of his life, he truly didn t know. He had always been led
to believe by his coven elders that it was the work of the Ldo, (which are the
ancestral spirits that are worshipped in Haitian voodoo) everything else was
reserved to the highest level of of the tribe before one could hear of it. Should one
hear of this sacrosanct information prematurely, their earlobes would be decapitated
and sacrificed to Ldo to prevent any retribution from making it s way upon the tribe.
The tribes believed that such information was granted directly by the spirits, and if
misused or exposed at an inappropriate time, would invoke their wrath upon
everyone. All of this and more is fascinating, but the question is, who is Jonas Anel?
How did all of this effect him and how does it continue to affect him? Drums beatin ,
thick black smoke permeating
Human Interaction Is The Study Of Relations And Social...
Human Interaction is the study of relations and social interchange between two or
more individuals. How they interact with one in another, the process by which they
act and react to individuals in their surroundings. Technology is rapidly changing the
method in which people work, think, and behave, but there s one thing that will
always remain constant is who we are as people, humaninteraction, and how we
represent ourselves. Society is swiftly changing communication, people are
interacting less with people and more with social media.
Aside from technology, the human dimension will always succeed because we more
understand when a person relates, delivers, interacts, and raises a point of view.

We are living in the digital age!
Social Media has become a part of the digital world and has changed the world
globally in the online world in which the way people live and interact with each
other and businesses. Social Networks such as Facebook in particular facilitates
social interaction and sharing and as a result, face to face interaction has been
replaced with interaction on social media with both Facebook and Twitter . Social
networks have allowed people to extend their existing networks in real life as well
as digital. Thus Twitter is a place where emphasis is not just on sharing but also
receiving updates and snippets from interesting people and organizations. Picture
number 2 demonstrates how people connect with like minded people that would on
the contrary never come across each other in real life. In terms of job opportunities,
networking is now being done online. LinkedIn a professional networking site has
emphasized the importance of building up contacts in your field of work and
beyond. New job opportunities and vacant positions are spread through the web
rapidly than the old days by word of mouth and equally important by trailing the right
people in your professional network to be the first to hear about important
information. Social networks are about being and staying connected.
This is where the opportunity lies. When a
Characterisation In A Separate Peace By John Knowles
Characterisation can be executed in many ways. An easy way to identify the
importance of characters in a novel is by paying attention to how they are
characterised. In the first chapter of the novel, A Separate Peace, John Knowles
uses the relationships between Gene Forrester and the Devon School, and between
Gene and his friend Phineas (Finny), to characterise the narrator, Gene, as a
reminiscent man who is an intelligent, and thoughtful man that has felt much fear
in his past. The Devon School is a place of Gene s past, and it harbors much fear
for him. When Gene was a young man at the age of sixteen, he studied at the
Devon School. When he returns fifteen years later he comes to understand a
memory from his past, [U]nfamiliar with the absence of fear and what that was
like, I had not been able to identify its presence. (Knowles 10). This quotation is
saying that he had lived with enough, constant fear when he was a student there
that it caused him to not recognise the existence of his fear. While he looks at the
outside of the school building, he notices that, [i]t seemed more sedate than I
remembered it, more perpendicular and strait laced, with narrower windows and
shinier woodwork, as though a coat of varnish had been put over everything for
better preservation... fifteen years before... the school wasn t as well kept up in
those days; perhaps varnish, along with everything else, had gone to war... (Knowles
9). His thoughts appear to impart a feeling of sadness due to
Assembly Line and Line Workers
JIELIANG PHONE HOME CASE STUDY
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Jieliang (DL) is a line worker at Precision Electro Tech s Dongguan, China
manufacturing plant. During a plant walk through, Marty Cole (OEM Global Team)
witnessed Jieliang being publicly disciplined in front of her fellow line workers for
not following Total Quality Control (TQC) procedures and using her own method.
ANALYSIS
Precision Electro Tech is a large contract manufacturer (CM) that produces products
(i.e., cell phones) for another company or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer).
In the case of complex assembly tasks, if those tasks can be broken down into simple
unit manufacturing steps that can be completely specified, they can be sent to low
cost countries like China ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although her rationale was not explicitly stated, several factors were in play. Jieliang
was trained that way and trusted her fellow factory workers and believed they were
capable hard workers with ambition and drive (Shih, et al., 2009). She knew
(perhaps subconsciously) that the TQC shortcut was more efficient and believed
that it was the prudent course of action. Additionally, there was a level of enabling
and complicity from the floor supervisors who believed in the old adage, one eye
open and one eye closed.
Jieliang s motivation and intent is difficult to know for sure; especially given how
she and her fellow workers strived to get the job done quicker, in part to have some
computer play time and flash card study time.
There are three players involved in this situation and each represents a role and
cultural differentiation: Marty Cole, OEM American, Yellow Hat, Supervisor
Chinese, and Jieliang, DL Chinese. Each of these players possesses their unique
personality and VABEs. Marty Cole s observation was alarming due to his witness
of public reprimand by the Yellow Hat toward Jieliang, DL. The Yellow Hat is a
position of authority and Jieliang is a line worker in a subordinate role at the
manufacturing plant. The expectation of protocol for line workers is for them to
follow the procedures to the letter with no deviation or suffer the consequences. Thus,

Dress Code Essay

  • 1. Dress Code Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Dress Code" presents a unique set of challenges that extend beyond the apparent simplicity of the topic. While it might seem like a straightforward matter, delving into the intricacies of dress codes requires a nuanced approach. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between addressing the practical aspects of dress codes and exploring the broader societal implications. Firstly, defining the scope of the essay can be challenging. Dress codes vary across contexts – be it in educational institutions, workplaces, or social settings. Each setting necessitates a distinct examination of the rules, norms, and expectations governing attire. Understanding the diverse perspectives and purposes behind these codes adds complexity to the analysis. Moreover, navigating the fine line between personal expression and conformity poses a cognitive challenge. Individuals view dress as a form of self-expression, and essayists must delicately discuss how dress codes may infringe upon this personal aspect without overlooking the reasons behind their implementation. Addressing the social, cultural, and gender dynamics associated with dress codes adds another layer of intricacy. The essay must navigate the historical context of dress codes, examining how they have evolved and often reflect societal norms and power structures. Discussing gendered expectations and potential biases introduces a layer of sensitivity that requires careful consideration. The research process can be time-consuming, as it involves not only understanding the specific dress code under consideration but also delving into academic literature, case studies, and sociological perspectives. Drawing meaningful conclusions and proposing recommendations for improvement requires a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. In conclusion, composing an essay on dress codes demands a thoughtful and comprehensive approach. Balancing the examination of specific regulations with a broader exploration of societal implications, personal expression, and cultural contexts is no easy task. As with any essay, meticulous research, careful consideration of diverse viewpoints, and the artful crafting of arguments are essential to producing a well-rounded and insightful piece. The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and US Youth Soccer are the two largest organizations in the US supporting regular play and tournaments virtually every weekend in the US. Lancaster, CA is home to the Lancaster National Soccer Center. This complex has 35 soccer fields within an area approximately Вѕ mile by Вј mile (Google Maps, 2016). There are a large number of tournaments hosted at the facility over the course of the year. One of the largest is the Cal South State/National Cup tournament. The first and second day of this tournament usually has 2500 5000 people in attendance including the teams. Most of the people present are under the age of 19. From a major... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Uncovering a plan for a terrorist attack usually requires paying attention to what is known as pattern of life . Pattern of life intelligence looks at the behaviors of a community and looks for actions that are out of the ordinary. Preventing an attack begins with keeping track of the chemicals used to manufacture Sarin and looking for suspicious activities that can lead to its discovery. Since one of the primary chemicals, Methylphosphonyl difluoride, is classified as a Schedule 1 chemical under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), there are very strict reporting requirements for its manufacture and sale. In addition to tracking the sale and movement of the chemicals used to produce Sarin, there are other signs to look for that can draw the interest of local authorities. The requirements of the CWC describe two categories of Schedule 1 chemical production activities that are not prohibited 1.Production ... in aggregate quantities of less than 100 g per year carried out for research, medical or pharmaceutical purposes per facility. ... are not subject to a declaration obligation, however, exports or imports of any quantity of Schedule 1 chemicals must be reported to
  • 3. Isolation In A Rose For Emily William Faulkner wrote a short story called A Rose for Emily. This story stuns many readers starting from the beginning to the end. This story is based upon a woman named Miss Emily Grierson and the isolated life she lives. The people in the town she lives in gossip about her life. As this story goes on, readers can see how Emily and her mental status changes. In the end of the story, it talks about how the townspeople discovered a gruesome murder that Miss Emily committed. The ending can give a sense to readers that something was not right with her. This story can be portrayed as how Miss Emily begins to become mentally unstable, which leads to a psychotic break because of social isolation, the death of her father, and the influences of society. In this story, Miss Emily goes through so much that she is ... living as a lonely recluse in her family s decaying aristocratic house for more than forty years until her death (Hsu and Wang 87). When Emily s father was still alive, ... he chases off every suitor that comes near her, denying Emily the choice of taking up the traditional role of wife... and ... isolating her from the townspeople (Hsu and Wang 89). The strictness of her father and the fact that Emily ... tries to live in the old aristocratic honor... has kept Emily living all alone and separated from the town (Hsu and Wang). Living alone with only one person, her manservant, impacted her social life. This severe time of isolation affected her mental stability because
  • 4. Flaws In Research Paper Flaws in current grading policies prove that the use of the report card as a means of measuring student achievement must be revised. Report cards are much too vague; they do not allow parents and students to truly understand how a student is performing. There is some idea of what is a good or bad grade, but what does it mean? The amount of value given to these letters also promotes students to have an unhealthy obsession with them. The only way to break free from these issues is to implement a new grading system. Report cards do not demonstrate why a student receives a certain grade. They merely state the grade. It may appear that a student with a low grade has a lot of room for improvement, but how can this be facilitated when said pupil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, there are no major parties standing in the way. Educational reform is just within grasp, so why is its occurrence still absent? These reforms would change the way children generations from now learn for the better, imbuing a sense of clarification and satisfaction with every step taken on their educational path. Education is about the wonder and inspiration learning can bring, not anxiety about being placed into a category. Massive changes such as these are going to have some opposition, but people must keep in mind that these long overdue reforms are to enlighten students
  • 5. Crocs Case Study Essay CASE: Crocs, Inc. 1. Which comparable company is a useful peer for valuation purposes as of the case date? Will it continue to be a good match into the future? Lululemon is a useful peer for valuation purposes as of the case date. There are three main factors to determine a useful peer. First one is comparable growth. Fiscal year 2006 sales growth of Crocs had been %227 and growth of over %130 was likely for fiscal year 2007. On the other side, compound annual growth rate of sales of Lululemon is over %100 (Exhibit 4). Second main factor is risk. Since that Crocs and Lululemon are new highgrowth brands, they have comparable risks. Last one is profit margin. Crocs has high margins on its products as a result of economies of scale.... • 7. Postpartum Depression During The Postpartum Period The postpartum period is about going through change and transition from a woman to a new mother. This is a time where mothers restore muscle tone and connective tissue in the body after the birth of the baby. Although there is a dramatic change during the postpartum period, women s body is nonetheless not fully stored to pre pregnant physiology until about 6 months post delivery (Osailan, 6). At this time, women need to receive special health and social support to prevent problems such as postpartum depression. During this period, culture plays a major role in the way a woman perceives and prepares for her birthing experience. In fact, the notions of birth and postnatalcare vary considerably with cultural beliefs and traditional practices. Each culture has its own values, beliefs and practices related to pregnancy and birth (Osailan,1). In the United States, after a short hospital stay, moms and babies are sent home because it is expected for mothers to heal within 42 days after giving birth. Whereas in other societies like Mexico, the postpartum recovery is active long enough until the new mother is fully healed (Brenhouse). In the article, Why Are America s Postpartum Practices So Rough on New Mothers? by Hilary Brenhouse, the author states, With these rituals comes an acknowledgment, familial and federal, that the woman needs relief more at this time than at any other especially if she has a career to return to and that it takes weeks, sometimes months, to properly
  • 8. The Ugly Side Of Climate Change It is far better for ourselves and the planet if we adapt to climate change instead of trying to stop it completely. Climate change is a natural phenomenon with many factors that contribute to it. We humans are one of those factors. Sure, we can do many things in our daily lives to hopefully lessen our footprint. But really, will all this add up to be enough? In the here and now I would argue no. The ugly side of climate changeis very much alive right now, and it is only going to continue to get much worse. I think it would be best if we began preparing and changing with the effects now versus later when it could very well be too late for us. Climate change is a real issue today and now that can actually be seen in many places. You can physically witness it in places such as Colorado, where the Colorado River is slowly drying up. Many rivers across the world face this same exact problem. It is obvious that we humans suffer from the changes in the climate around the world. However, we are not the only ones. The surrounding ecology of the areas affected by climate change will also be damaged. We will see a large change or erasing of the ecosystems around us. Being an animal/nature lover in this day and age is a hard task indeed. Thankfully many countries right now are taking action to deal a blow to climate change. In fact, there was a recent meeting in France, where multiple countries took a pledge to reduce carbon emissions in their respective locations. One has to ask
  • 9. Essay on Texas s Political Culture Political Culture Texas political culture is one that can be described as a combination of three main ideas: individualistic, traditionalism and moralism. Considering Texas and its overwhelming 254 counties we can see these main ideas undoubtedly. The 254 counties each have their own general set of ideas, attitudes and beliefs. The whole state of Texasis simply not just considered individualistic, traditionalism, or moralism, it is considered all three. Individualistic, traditionalism and moralism are all strong values that coexist in our society and they all affect how we as the people live our lives. A political culture shapes a region s politics. They were not all named George or Jeb Bush for no reason, if it ain t broke, don t fix it. Individualism is the belief of self reliance. Texas is also known for being on its own. Which leads to its famous saying, you ve got nobody to blame but yourself. They are all about being the self made man. An individualist prefers privacy, is suspicious of public institutions, and is an independent contractor. This attitude ties into our low active government. Government is sought out to be at low cost and out of the way of its voters. Texas government is very limited, and has a legislature that meets biennially. Due to our isolation, public education is under funded and is at its high in many court battles and legislative conflicts. The heart of individualism would be laissez faire. In Britannica, laissez faire is the policy of minimum governmental interference in the economic affairs of individuals and society. Laissez faire is basically telling government to leave them alone. The whole concept is to keep minimum government interference in business. Moralism is all about the community and a commonwealth. They are suspicious of private institutions and interests. An example would be social security, social welfare programs, and public education programs. A moralist is all about being equal with people, everyone needs a fair share. Austin Texas has a lot of business there. They are big or moralism because of its big community.
  • 10. The Impact Of The Affordable Care Act Of 2010 Health Care Reform The Affordable Care Act of 2010 expanded access to health insurance in the United States to millions of uninsured individuals. Early findings indicate that there have been significant reductions in the rate of uninsured among the poor and working age adults. Consequently, the number of adults who did not get needed health care because of cost declined as well as the number of adults who reported problems paying their medical bills. Hpwever, despite the many advances the Affordable Care Act provided towards health care reform, there are still flaws to the system. The Affordable Care Act (ACA), expands the access to health insurancecoverage primarily for those who fall through the cracks of the private and public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These declines are most likely due to the increased number of Americans with health insurance. Fewer Americans reported financial difficulties due to medical expenses in 2014. The number of adults who said they had problems paying their medical bills in the past 12 months or were paying off medical debit declined from 75 million people in 2012 to 64 million in 2014 (Collins et al., 2015). Despite the improvements made toward health reform, there are still problems that need to be address. There are still cost related access problems among insured adults, particularly among people with lower incomes. According to the Commonwealth Fund Biennial Health Insurance Survey of 2014, 33 percent of adults who had been insured all year with incomes under 200 percent of poverty and 25 percent with incomes above that level said they did not get needed care because of costs in the past 12 months (Collins et al., 2015). The high deductibles and cost sharing in both employer and individually purchased private plans lead many adults to delay or avoid needed care (Collins et al., 2015). Also there is still a large share of adults who were insured all year but still struggle to pay their medical bills. People with lower incomes reported these problems at the highest rates. One third (34%) of adults with incomes under 200 percent of poverty who were insured all year
  • 11. The Population Of Urban Areas CHAPTER 1:INTRODUCTION According to census defined homeless as houseless households. Households which do not live in buildings or census house but live in the open or roadside, pavement, in Hume pipes, under fly over and staircase, or in the open in places of worship, man daps, railway platform etc. Are treated as homeless households. Households living in dilapidated homes or households without access to basic amenities, infrastructure or services apart from households with too many members living under a single roof (congestion factor) should also be termed as homeless. The census has found that between 2001 and 2011 homeless population in urban areas grew by 20.5% but in rural areas it declined by 28.4%. Census 2011 has presented data on homeless household s size. Most number of homeless households at the national level comprises single member households to be followed by 7+ members households. The population of homeless in urban areas (9.4 lakhs) is more than that in rural areas (8.3 lakhs). In India Uttar Pradesh (3.3 lakhs), Maharashtra (2.1 lakhs), Rajasthan (1.8 lakhs), Madhya Pradesh (1.46 lakhs), Andhra Pradesh (1.45 lakhs), Gujarat (1.4 Lakhs) are highest state for homeless people.(Decline in homeless population: Census data 2011) Homeless is a provisional condition that individuals fall into when they can t stand to pay for a spot to live, or when their present home is dangerous or unsteady. • 12. Differences And Similarities Between Citizen Kane And Rosebud The 1941 film, Citizen Kane, directed, co written, and starring Orson Welles, is arguably the greatest movie ever made. No movie before was made like Citizen Kane, and every movie made after was different because of it. Welles portrayal of Charles Foster Kane (Orson Welles) takes us on a journey through the life of a man overcome by greed and unconsciously fueled his need for love and security. We are shown the events of Kane s life through an investigation by reporter Jerry Thompson (William Alland), after Kane s death. Thompson interviews those who were once closest to Kane in hopes of discovering the meaning of Kane s last words, Rosebud. Through Thompson s investigation we get fragmented portrayals of Kane, and while ultimately Thompson concludes that one word will not solve the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Early in Thatcher s narration we see Kane playing in the snow with Rosebud, Kane s mother Mary Kane (Agnes Moorehead) is making arrangements to send her son away with her financial advisor, Walter Thatcher (George Coulouris), after becoming enormously wealthy. We never truly get an explanation as to why Mary Kane sends her son away except for when she tells her husband, Kane s Father, that he will never get at him again, revealing that his father may be abusive, and that being sent away is what s best for him, although this becomes questionable throughout the film. When Kane is about to be taken away, he uses his sled to push away Thatcher. The sled represents a physical barrier, and in this case, symbolized Kane pushing away a life of adulthood and responsibility. Kane s resentment towards Thatcher progresses throughout the film as he seemingly does everything he can to spite Thatcher, getting kicked out of the nation s best schools and spending money carelessly on an art and business endeavours set out to embarrass
  • 13. If Shakespeare Can Do It If Shakespeare Can Do It Because my wife has an English degree, she always defends her made up words and grammar rules by simply stating, Shakespeare did it, I can too. Now, I don t always agree with her just because I have an English degree attitude, but we do agree on one small thing: The written English language needs a singular gender neutral pronounthat replaces the clunky alternatives English speakers have now. English is a relatively young language compared to most others still around today. Currently, we are taught that the use of singular theyis incorrect, and instead we should use either he, him or her, or s/he, when referring to someone whose gender is unclear. Others say English writers should move toward a singular pronounto use with a singular antecedent. How perfect is it that English speakers already use this particular pronoun? Singular they. Think about it. Typically, when people speak, they do not use his or her or s/he. People use they when referring to one person of an undetermined gender. For example, Someone left their coat here, we should let them know. That makes perfect sense to us. We know that them in this sentence refers to the singular antecedent someone. Language evolves alongside it s society, because of this, you don t see many English speakers still using thou to refer to one person. As many people know, singular thou was a more formal and polite way of saying you . Sometime in the 18th century, the use of

The Gilded Age And Imperialism Expansion Luke McGrath HIS 122 101 Midterm Exam 09/29/2014 Part I: Short Essay Format Question #1, American attitudes toward our culture can be paradoxical The Gilded Age or Imperialism expansion examine the conflicting values that America held for each. The gilded age was a period in history that caused a vast transformation due to the increase of American industrialization. Values and attitudes toward The Gilded Age varied. The poor workers often saw the changed caused by the Gilded Age as corrupt, where the rich business men looked at it as a positive change. The poor laborers in the gilded age often viewed the change that occurred during the era as a negative one. The fact that working conditions for laborers were poor was no secret. A passage from Upton Sinclair s The Jungle depicts these conditions of an old man stating, He worked in a place where his feet were soaked in chemicals and it was not long before the chemicals had eaten through his boots. Then sores began to break out on his feet and grew worse and worse. In the end of this story the man continued to work until he died because he needed to take care of his family. This alone would tend to develop an attitude of negativity by poor immigrants and laborers toward changes made by the gilded. For more proof one can find various examples of strikes and civil unrest by workers usually against business owners and police. This too is evidence that the poor laborers of the time were unhappy with their situation. On the

According to Google, the definition frontier is the extreme limit of understanding or achievement in a particular area. The sudden move to the west was originally caused by gold being found. Settlers would pack up everything and move to the west to get rich. Instead, they found wild cattle, copper, silver, and probably most important, Indians. Because of the lack of law and government control out in the west, lots of criminals would go out there to escape the law. One example being Billy the kid. However, many of these criminals became legends, law men, and ranchers. In Tombstone they found silver and people came flocking to get a claim. In Bisbee, they
  • 19. The First Crusade Cause And Effect The First Crusade, a time of strife, war, and bloodshed. The First Crusade was a war for the Holy Land. It was called into effect by Pope Umbar II in an attempt to reclaim the Holy Land from the Jews and to return it to Christianity and to assist in repelling the Turks. Pope Umbar II delivered a speech about how the people of God needed to join forces and fight for Jerusalem. The speech spoke of how this war would be in God s name, that those who participated would receive absolution from sin and eternal glory. This speech had an incredible effect upon the Christian population, it inspired such a large amount of people, both plebeian and nobility, to rise to the cause and fight for the Holy Land, as their current army was built entirely from volunteers. While it is true that religious beliefs would have motivated many to the cause, the promise of riches in the lands of Jerusalem also led many to fight in the Crusades. Throughout the 11th century, the Byzantine Empire began to receive many attacks from invading Seljuk Turks. It was this that caused Byzantine Emperor Alexius to ask for Pope Urban II for support in their fight against the Turks. Pope Urban II called upon the western Christians to aid the Byzantines and to recover the Holy Land in the year 1095.The people s overwhelming response to his call as European Christians lept at the opportunity to fight the Muslims and to Recover their Holy Land. The Vietnam War and its Subsequent Ties to the Cold War Essay The Cold War was a prolonged period of political and military tension between countries on the side of democracy and those on the side of communism, the major players being the United States belonging to the former and the Soviet Union belonging to the latter (Westad). While the Cold War was known as such because there were no direct wars between the two major powers, there was large scale fighting in Vietnam. The Vietnam War (1954 75) is thought of as a historical consequence of the Cold Warand hence a proxy war between the socialist and capitalist blocs, although many historians provide a second perspective, which is that the war was simply a nationalist struggle for national independence and reunification. While the latter argument... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The leaders of the new struggles were the radical Confucian intellectuals who were heavily influenced by the Western theories and particularly by the reformist movements in Japan and China. They belonged to the Generation of the Lasts and the Firsts as David G. Marr calls them: the generation of the last Confucian leaders and of the first Vietnamese who accepted Western theories (Marr). The defeat of the anti French movements in the late nineteenth century prompted these patriotic Confucian intellectuals to analyze the reasons for their failure and to find new strategies to wage the nationalist struggle. The development of the reform movement in China, and particularly the successes of the Meiji reform movement in Japan, strongly influenced these Vietnamese intellectuals (Lawrence). The Second World War (1939 45) radically changed the world order. It also changed the destiny of Vietnam. As war broke out in Europe, Ho Chi Minh left the USSR and quickly moved to south China. The ICP launched two armed revolts, one in the north in September 1940 and the other in the south in November 1940 (Lawrence). Like other revolts of that time, the abortive insurrections led by the communists were quickly and brutally suppressed by the French. Between the end of the Civil War and the early twentieth century, the United States underwent one of the most rapid and profound economic revolutions any country has ever experienced. There were numerous causes for this explosive economic growth. The country enjoyed abundant natural resources, a growing supply of labor, an expanding market for manufactured goods, and the availability of capital for investment. The uprising of big businesses, railroads, and factory transformed America from being based on small farm work into an industrial powerhouse. During the Second Industrial Revolution the role of big business in federal and state governments was a monumental turning point in the history of this country, setting a foundation which has come to play a big role in government policy today. In a time period where the American Government did not have a real system in place for becoming an elected official, a great portion of the government was corrupted by people put in place by owners of big businesses and in turn they agreed to pass laws or do other favors for their benefit. Moguls such as John D. Rockefeller, and Andrew Carnegie played major roles big business. The rapid expansion of factory production, mining, and railroad construction in all parts of the country except the South signaled the transition from Lincoln s America a world centered on the small farm and artisan workshop to a
  • 22. Handwriting Writing Characteristics Handwriting is a skill many people acquire at a young age. Handwriting is something that is individual to a specific person based on individual characteristics. Special examiners who are trained to examine documents and handwritings can compare samples and identify class characteristics, individual characteristics, and use vision and technology to make a positive connection or disconnection between a subject sample and the comparisonsample. The act of handwriting is accomplished through practice and repetition. Most people learn to write by copying letter formations from a copybook at a young age (Harrison, D., Burkes, T., Seiger, D). Class characteristics would include everyone who learned how to write their letters with the traditional lined paper and were taught letter formation and spacing. Someone who lives in America may have learned how to write differently from someone who lives in a foreign country but it still holds the basic concept of forming letters or symbols to make words. Once handwriting itself is mastered, people tend to adopt individual characteristics that set their writingapart from others. The writing becomes a pattern of subconscious, habitual formations that are repeated from one writing to the next (Hilton 1982; Huber 1999). These writings separate a type or style from being just standard copybook format to forming different strokes, patterns, skill level, and or identifying techniques of writing. In reality, many of these policies were introduced before apartheid, and thus South Africa today is affected by centuries rather than just a few decades of racism. The racial practice and policies of the nineteenth century that developed out of South Africas mineral revolution were then carried into the apartheid era, and are of particular importance for black South African families. The desires of the white population to have sufficient labour and to monitor it while reserving urban areas for whites occasioned the government to create restrictive laws starting in the late nineteenth century which were carried into apartheid. These laws and practices broke apart the South African black family and has resulted in enduring consequences for black families and South Africa. With the mineral revolution, African men began to leave their families to go and work. From the beginning of European and African interaction in South Africa, the whites have been dependent on African labour, the mineral revolution merely intensified this. It also led to an agricultural revolution in order to feed the workers. African labour was cheaper than white labour and so they were desired by employers. This demand for cheap labour led to an availability of jobs which tempted some African men to migrate to these areas of work. There was continually a shortage, however, and the government

Phenomenal woman, That s me. The use of the word, Phenomenal, creates a confident tone because Angelou is describing herself as extraordinary even though she had previously stated that she does not succeed the expectations of what beauty is considered to be. Moreover, the repetition of words within the poem reminds the readers to pay close attention to certain aspects of the poem that are critical in order to understand the message that the poet is trying to convey. Additionally, Angelou demonstrates the use of an enjambment consistently throughout the stanzas of her poem. For instance, in stanza two, the poet states, The fellows stand or, (Line 17) and Fall down on their knees, (Line 18). By doing this, the writer does not fully carry out the thought until the next line which keeps the poem flowing. If the reader stopped at line 17, then he/she won t know what the fellows had done other than standing. By incorporating punctuation after line 17, the reader will pause and the full meaning of the sentence won t be carried out and fully understood as a whole. Consequently, Angelou had created an enjambment. As mentioned previously, the tone is determined by the use of diction. Throughout the poem, Angelou uses informal diction such as it s and ought . In the first stanza, Angelou states, It s in the reach of my arms, (Line 6). By incorporating the word reach, it can represent Angelou s self assurance and how she strives towards her goals since her arms are stretched confidently. As a result, it develops the tone by

Novelty Now the appropriate court for this lawsuit depends upon several factors. In personal jurisdiction the book states that the courts are given the power to provide a decision in affecting the rights of individuals (Kubasek). In this case, the court will give a decision giving rights to Mr. Margolin, and taking rights from Novelty Now. For subject matter jurisdiction, a certain specified court will be able to hear the case This means, that it must be decided which court hears the case, whether state or federal jurisdiction. Since this case contains three different states, the federal court system must be the one to hear the case. In this case, minimum contacts must be determined to decide if a certain state will have power to assert personal jurisdiction over a defendant from another state (Kubasek). In this case, it must be decided if New York will take personal jurisdiction of the defendants residing in California, or Novelty Now residing in Florida. Alternative dispute resolution may be an option to resolve this case. ADR is a method of resolving cases through methods other than court. These can be negotiation, mediation, arbitration, mini trials, private trials, etc. (Kubasek). In this case, negotiation outside of trial would be a good option for Funny Face. ADR is often cheaper than a traditional trial as well. This way they would not have to face bad publicity for this incident. This might also be a good idea for Mr. Margolin because the case will go much faster, meaning he could get restitution much faster, and would cut his legal costs as well. Language on the Funny Face website appears to limit any claim filed to arbitration as a means of resolving the dispute. Arbitration is a method of resolution to a case by choosing a neutral third party outside a judicial setting (Kubasek). Arbitration would be a good solution for both Mr. Margolin and Funny Face in this case. Mr. Margolin would be able to explain his condition and provide medical evidence stating that Funny Face was indeed the cause of his condition. However, a neutral third party may believe that there was enough stated by Funny Face for Mr. Margolin to have

It can provide a deep happiness, and a deep suffering when unfulfilled. Love is one of the most valuable and cherished feelings in people s lives. Love is known since the time of Adam and Eve. It makes one feel as if nothing else is needed in order to survive in this world. The definitions of loveare the same and yet different. There are many authors in stories and poems that use romantic love like Shakespeare and Wislawa Szymborska. I think romantic love is universal because it is a legacy of humanity s shared evolutionary past. Many people argue that romanceis a clichГ©. It seems like in nearly every aspect of our culture, love has been defined, redefined, misunderstood, denied or accepted. It includes happiness, sadness, and everything else in the world. But each person experiences love in their own terms. David H. Knox is the author that wrote the article Conceptions of Love at Three Developmental Levels . He confirms, Love is an experience which most have had or expect to have. Indeed, American culture teaches that, Love is the greatest thing. It is an experience to be sought, and when achieved, to be cherished (Knox 1). Knox suggested that everybody has their own experience about love. Love is so unique and complex that no two people experience it in the same capacity. Therefore, the word love is insufficient for conveying the nature of people s feelings towards a beloved. It

The iconic journalist and one of the most trusted figures in American television, Walter Cronkite once said that in seeking the truth, one must get to both sides of the story [1]. It may be philosophically worded perhaps, but it is unequivocally true. As such, the likely introduction of mandatory continuing professional development by the PEO is a thorny topic that must be critically analyzed and scrutinized on both ends of the spectrum. Those in support for continuing professional development argue that practitioners get applicable training on the job and that certain concepts such as ethics simply do not change and thus don t require a statue for mandatory continuing development. However, others have an antipodal perspective, arguing that continuing professional development should be mandatory to prevent loss of knowledge over time and to allow members to keep at pace with the latest practices and procedures of the engineeringprofession. Perhaps the most convincing argument that those against continuing professional development provide is that engineers get all the adequate skills training on the job. This is most prevalent for new engineering graduates, that can spend up to two years getting trained prior to starting the job. Take for example, Lehigh Hanson Canada subsidiary of the building materials conglomerate, HeidelbergCement Group. New graduates spend 24 months in a comprehensive program that provides on the job as well as formal training [2]. To put in

While Bape is not a brand that directly relates to African American culture, many black hip hop artists and celebrities have been seen wearing Bape and so in this regard Dragon Ball Z has influenced hip hop fashion 13. Other examples of Dragon Ball Z s influence can be seen through shirts such as the one shown in figure 1. The shirt features Frieza from Dragon Ball Z wearing a gold chain, an accessory often associated with hip hop, and drinking purple drank, or lean, a combination of codeine and promethazine cough syrup, typically mixed with sprite and jolly ranchers, and consumed for a high that is often associated with hip hop culture. This article is based on an experiment that was taken place to prove whether others could perceive a narcissistic individual as a narcissist through observing their social media sites. This experiment was a correlational type of study. The experimenters goal was to analyze whether there was any correlation or connection between the web page owner being a narcissist and the type of content they had on their profile. With this type of study, the variables are not as familiar as they might be when it comes to other experiments. The independent variable, or as referenced in this article, the predictor variable, was the web pages owners measured narcissism. Since the experimenter doesn t necessarily manipulate this variable, it is known as the predictor variable instead. The dependent variable was the narcissistic impressions of the raters, or observers of the web pages. There was an extra variable in this experiment known as the proposed mediator. A proposed mediator is a model used to identify and explain the procedures that root from the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. It stood out to me the most because of how it surprised me when I looked at it in a different perspective and the paintingchanged, being 3 paintings in one. The art piece is viewable in the appendix section at the end of the Analysis. Looking at each of the art angles we see that only the front view shows implied lines with the separation of colors between the texture s slopes. This texture is created by an upside down V hump throughout the artwork, which can be seen in the Enhanced View in the appendix. Moving from Left Side to Right Side the other artworks are shown at only certain angles, we see here lines become complete rather than implied, becoming more abstract; this also shows that the element of motion is from the viewer is needed to see this artwork completely. From the front view the artwork shows implied shape, the left side, shows shape with objects with curved edges and lines, and the right side shows objects with straight /sharp edges. The demographic changes that are taken place in the northern and midwest states regarding the workforce have started to see a declining rate as the baby boomers in those regions are reaching retirement age. Since women joined the workforce, they are waiting to have children or not as many children. The reason that most women are waiting to have children is that of college or getting their careers going. The northern and midwest areas have their younger workforce looking for jobs in the southern regions like Texas and Florida where the weather is warmer all year. The states and regions that are benefiting from the decline in the northern and midwest are the southern states. • 50. Aristotle’s Poetics Influence on the Ancient World Aristotle presents the argument that tragedies are superior to epics. While tragedies and epics are characterized in similar ways they also have their differences. A tragedy, then, is the imitation of an action that is serious and also, as having magnitude, complete in itself; in language with pleasurable accessories, each kind brought in separately in the parts of the work; in a dramatic, not in a narrative form; with incidents arousing pity and fear, wherewith to accomplish its catharsis of such emotions. It is assumed this category also includes the themes of a tragedy. Themes can be viewed as the overall lesson from the story. When the theme is thought about, emotions surface and are related to everyday life. Thought is shown whenever a point is proven or a truth is revealed. The power of saying whatever needs to be said at that point in time. The arts of politics and rhetoric fall under this category in tragedies as speeches. At times thought can be confused with character, but character exposes the moral purpose. Thought validates or invalidates a particular circumstance. The fourth point diction is the choice along with the use of words and phrases. In cases of tragedy this could be speaking or singing. It is the composition of lines recited that deal with how the lines are said. Verses that are fully understood and do not need explaining. Diction is easier to overcome when used in a tragedy even if it does not present a tragic effect. The fifth point melody is the utmost pleasurable piece of a tragedy. By definition a melody is a sequence of single notes that is musically satisfying. During a tragedy the melody is used as a musical accompaniment to blend with the play appropriately. Therefore according to Aristotle the chorus should be regarded as one of the actors (14). While the melody is a main component of tragedies, it is not even used within epics, therefore making
