The Nodes
-This are the parts of the stem
where the leaves attached to
the stem.
Latin: nodus – a knot

The Internodes
-Are the parts of the stem that
are between two nodes.

The Leaf Axil
- It is the angle formed between
the stem and the leaf.

The Axillary Stem Buds
- Are the buds at the axils. The
axillary stem buds can form
stem shoots.

The Terminal Stem Buds
- It is the bud at the tip or apex
of the stem.

The Shoot Tip
- Or shoot apex is the growing
tip of the stem.

Types of Stem
•The Woody Stem – Thick
and Hard, typically not
green.
•The Herbaceous Stem – Are
soft and green.
