Introduction
• The roles of AI, OER, and Open
Education are distinct yet
interconnected, contributing to the
advancement and accessibility of
education.
• There is a need for innovative
approaches like Open Education and
AI in addressing educational
challenges.
Open Education/OER
The principles of human rights, equity,
accessibility, inclusivity, and affordability.
• Open Educational Resources (OER) are
learning, teaching and research
materials in any format and medium
that reside in the public domain or are
under copyright that have been
released under an open license, that
permit no-cost access, re-use, re-
purpose, adaptation and redistribution
by others
• The FIVE Rs or SEVEN
OER
• Accessibility and Affordability: Open Education aims to make educational
resources freely available to everyone, breaking down barriers to access.
OER, such as textbooks, lectures, and multimedia materials, are openly
licensed and can be used, adapted, and shared by educators and learners
globally without cost.
• Inclusivity: OE fosters inclusivity by providing materials that can be tailored
to diverse learning needs and cultural contexts. It promotes the idea that
education should be a universal right, accessible to all, irrespective of
geographical or financial constraints.
• Collaboration: Open Education encourages collaboration among educators
and institutions. It facilitates the sharing of best practices, resources, and
expertise, creating a more interconnected global educational community.
UNESCO Ethics
with AI
• Rapid technological advancements in
Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as other
advancing technologies such as robotics,
cloud computing, and the ‘Internet of
Things’, are transforming disciplines,
economies, and industries, and challenging
ideas about what it means to be human
UNESCO: AI in
Education
• Potentials in education and its
potential to revolutionize
learning.
• Adaptive learning, personalized
education, and intelligent
tutoring systems.
• The role of AI in addressing
individual learning needs.
AI in Education
•Personalized Learning: AI technologies ehenable t
customization of learning experiences based on individual
needs, preferences, and learning styles. Adaptive learning
platforms use AI algorithms to adjust content, pace, and
difficulty according to each learner's progress.
•Data-Driven Insights: AI analyzes vast amounts of data to
provide actionable insights for educators and institutions. This
data-driven approach helps in identifying learning patterns,
areas of improvement, and overall student performance,
allowing for informed decision-making.
•Automation and Efficiency: AI automates administrative tasks,
grading, and routine processes, allowing educators to focus
more on personalized teaching and mentorship. It enhances
efficiency in educational management.
The Synergy Begins
• Enhanced Personalization: Combining AI with OER and Open
Education allows for even more personalized learning experiences.
AI can recommend specific OER materials based on individual
learner profiles, optimizing content relevance.
• Global Collaboration: AI can facilitate collaborative projects and
discussions among learners and educators worldwide. Real-time
language translation and cultural adaptation features can enhance
global communication and collaboration within the Open
Education framework.
• Continuous Improvement: AI can contribute to the continuous
improvement of OER content by analyzing user feedback, tracking
learning outcomes, and suggesting updates or modifications to
keep materials current and effective.
Benefits of Open Education/OER and AI
• Cost-effectiveness
• Global accessibility
• AI personalized learning, data-driven insights).
• Combining these approaches enhances scalability
and effectiveness.
Future
Trends
• Possibilities like AI-
powered content
creation, smart learning
environments, and
continuous adaptive
learning.
Conclusion
Potential of Open Education/OER and AI in
shaping the future of education.
Encourage collaboration and exploration of
innovative approaches.
Open Education and OER focus on making
education accessible, affordable, and
collaborative, while AI brings in advanced
technologies for personalized learning, efficiency,
and data-driven insights. The combination of
these elements creates a powerful synergy that
has the potential to revolutionize education,
making it more inclusive, adaptable, and effective
for learners globally.
