O Neill s Non Fiction Piece, The Firecracker Boys
O Neill s non fiction piece, The Firecracker Boys, provides an in depth depiction of the morality
and ecological problems behind the peaceful use of nuclear bombs . Unmasking true intentions, O
Neill describes the Atomic Energy Commission s (AEC) push to continue nuclear bomb testing,
regardless of the global moratorium or the resulting implications it would have on national
relations with the Soviets. O Neill provides a perspective that sees through all of the
misconstrued data and influential power of the AEC, showing clear drivers behind the backing of
these destructive practices. As a whole, The Firecracker Boys addresses both the environmental
and social injustices that the AEC and its proponents wholeheartedly represented. On October 31,
1958, a global moratorium on all nuclear bomb testing was put into effect after the scientific and
public community became increasingly aware of the negative effects that the radioactive fallout
was having on both the ecological and social communities. Strontium 90, a toxic chemical found
in this fallout was being taken up as calcium by the living organisms in the radioactive zones.
According to O Neill, A single teaspoon of it, if distributed evenly among all the people on earth,
would kill every one of them within a few years (O Neill, 51). Once this chemical is taken up by
living organisms, it enters the immensely interconnected food chain. Specifically in Alaska, the
radioactive fallout found its way into the native

Upcycled Shipping Containers Case Study
General Design Overview Author: N. Chandler, J. Bergfalk, B. Dyksterhouse The goal of
Project [un]Contained is to design, develop, and deliver a deployable multi purpose structure
utilizing upcycled shipping containers that can make a positive on impact in the developing
world by addressing the following issues: Infrastructure, Reliable Energy, Clean Water, and
Good Health. Location Considerations: Haiti has a tropical and semi arid climate and is located
in the heart of the Caribbean, on the island of Hispaniola. Haiti is a country of 10.5 million
people in the heart of the Caribbean and its capital, Port au Prince, has an estimated population of

The Gant Diagram can be found in Appendix B: Gantt Diagram. Project [un]Contained Gantt
Diagram Design Criteria: Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere and its structures
are very susceptible to hurricanes and earthquakes. This represents the most complex problem to
be addressed, but the societal and health problems are also a factor. The 4 large needs in Haiti
are: a safe structure, reliable energy, clean water, and good health. Using suburban and rural Haiti
as a case study and design criteria will allow the design to be easily modified for different
developing areas with similar environments. Design Requirements: To address the critical needs of
Haiti, certain baseline requirements were created and determined based on research of the current
conditions of Haiti. Each baseline requirement gives the team members tangible design goals and
objectives to be met. Design requirements: Infrastructure Requirements Structure shall be built to
seismic design D risk category 2 Structure shall be built to resist a category 3 hurricane Structure
shall be deployable. Structure shall support any additional load to the roof of a structure with a
safety factor of 2. Structure shall provide comfortable interior living temperatures comparable to
developed home designs in Haiti. Structure should be self sustaining Energy Collection and Storage
Requirements Structure shall collect a minimum of 155 kWh monthly.

Teacher And Student Behaviors In Inclusive Classrooms By...
Each fall, both teachers and students look expectantly toward the new year as a time of excitement
and optimism. Will I be able to help my students learn as much as they can as fast as they can? Will
the teacher like me? Will my students like me? With or without research or theory, each member of
the class community knows the importance of the teacher student relationship. As an administrator
in an elementary school with both the highest gifted percentage in the count and a visually impaired
cluster unit, it is important that I understand the scientific data surrounding forming relationships to
support teacher understanding of its impact on their classroom climate and to encourage methods
of class community building. The problem, therefore, is twofold what is the impact of Exceptional
Student Education(ESE) students on teacher student relationships and what preconceived notions
do teachers have that impact their relationships with their students. This is important to the field of
education as we transition from the old model of secluding ESE students in self contained
classrooms to the newer model of inclusion. As teachers better understand the research, their
behaviors affecting relationship building will be of greater import and, thus, a priority. In Teacher
and Student Behaviors in Inclusive Classrooms by Nevin Guner Yildiz, teacher and student
behaviors were observed and recorded on a data collection form designed according to the time
sampling method.

Pride Of Bowen Case Study
Investigations continue on run aground reef ship The Great Barrier Marine Park Authority
(GBRMPA) has launched investigations into a ship, carrying 100 tonnes of soil, that s run
aground in the Great Barrier Reef. The North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporations (NQBPC)
ship, Pride of Bowen, ran aground in the Capricorn Bunker Group because of some mechanical
difficulties and serve weather. The General Manager of Great Barrier Reef Operations, Andrew
Skeat, said that currently no soil from the ship has leaked into the surrounding environments. He
said this singular accident is being investigated but he has confidence in NQBPC s ability to

Why Composting Pick Up Isn t Available, Money Can Still...
Where composting pick up isn t available, money can still be saved. In Rhode Island, Johnson and
Wales University s culinary school invested in a high tech composting machine in their kitchen.
Although the initial investment was substantial, the university is already saving money.
Specifically, they expect for the machine to pay for itself in 5 years because they don t send trash
to Rhode Island Central Landfill (Luebsdorf).
Even in big cities where composting plants are accessible, many believe there is no demand for the
final product of composting. At this time, most of the U.S. composting plants are small. Although
in some regions, the composting industry is gaining popularity and interest from many investors
across the nation. Marketing development, higher procurement participation rate programs, and
economic incentives are all being implemented to help persuade composting. The state of
Connecticut is currently offering six million dollars in loans or grants to the composting industry
(Platt 9). Some even believe the demand for compost will increase so much, regulatory action and
mandates will be unneeded. But until then, any food waste landfills bans and other composting
requirements have to be considered (Leubsdorf).
In the meantime, in locations where commercial composting operations are unavailable, local
composting is still viable for most of the food service industry. Especially when food waste is at a
manageable level, a composting pile can be personally

When a patient checks into Nightingale Community Hospitals they believe the hospital will put

areas of patient care this hospital needs to improve in. Reporting critical results within 60 minutes,
labeling medication containers and reactions with anticoagulation therap.0y are areas that this
hospital needs to improve upon. Improving these areas would be just one step toward increasing

Threepenny Opera As A Mirror To Society
To me, one of the most important aspects of theatre is to be a mirror to society or to a person s
individual psychology. A play should be painting a picture of a pre existing reality, not just
making up a new one for entertainment purposes. The best plays are just this, either a complex
picture of society as it is or a character study that the audience is meant to take into their own
lives. Threepenny Opera does follow this guideline, though it is most decidedly not a character
study. The characters of Threepenny Opera are cruel and shallow, meant to prove a point rather
than serve as a vessel for empathy. Three Penny Opera is a show that focuses more on society, a
show that wants us to question it and ourselves. Three Penny Opera is an important show for
modern audiences to see because the issues that it brings up are still relevant. It is important
because of it s messages about our treatment of the poor, and the call to action that it makes on the
poor s behalf. The society presented in the Threepenny Operais one that is very divided by class. It
is an England that is separated by rich and poor where the richer and more influential receive
better treatment and luck than the beggars who have to spend their time attempting to engender
enough pity to eat and live. We spend most of the play observing these poor, but we do get
glimpses at some of the more privileged. Peachum is one of these described as more wealthy, as are
the police and the reverend. Throughout the

Nothing Gold Can Stay Essay
Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost Summer s over, and there s nothing you can do about it.
If you miss the fun and sun, you ll be able to relate to this poem by Robert Frost. It s about how
everything wonderful eventually changes (Line, pg. 27). In the article, the author is bring
forward a line by line explanation of what the myth is about in Nothing Gold Can Stay Long. In
the poem by Frost, he depicts a myth nature and its course of life. When you receive a bouquet of
flowers you d like for them to stay vibrant and beautiful. Frost displays in the poem that life is all
about ups and downs. Also, he explain that good things do not always remain a good thing. It is
good to say that Frost is talking about his life or someone else s life. I would say that it is his life...

The flower will be in bloom for longer than an hour, but the meaning behind that shows a bigger
picture in life s upsets. Often in life we have situations that gives us insights on better things in
life because they end on a bad note. Other times, we have situations in life that show us how to
overcome sadness in bad situations. In the line of goes down to day , I think that frost is
speaking on the how a day may start fresh and great but may end on a bad note from an
experience. Some may take that that line as meaning that their good thing is gone. The day is
over and the good has ended. The last line of the the poem, is the title of the poem. I think that
Frost, let it be the last thing mentioned to show the ending of something beautiful. The last lined
as mentioned takes us through what happened before the day ended and sunset. In the last line
there is a depiction of how a good day has to end even when we do not want it to. A great example
of a big day is a wedding. For most people they do not not want their wedding day to end because, it
is one of the best days of their life. Also, some people may want it to end because it probably did

The Character Of Roger Chillingworth And Arthur Dimmesdale
The setting is in Boston, Massachusetts, It s cold and a heavy rain is falling down from the sky
almost as if god himself was crying over the sinful actions he has seen come from his so called
wonderful creation. A minister whose purpose in life was to spread the faith that has given his
life meaning, has become a sinner, and his so called companion; a physician who has drained his
body of every single piece of energy for the sole purpose of torturing this minister. These characters
are known as Roger Chillingworth and Arthur Dimmesdale, they play a key role in the Scarlet letter,
both known for their iconic symbiotic relationship filled with a sinful background.

Hawthorn constantly uses a dash of dramatic irony when Dimmesdale and Chillingworth have a
colloquy for example, in chapter ten the text reads these black weeds have sprung up out of a
buried heart to make manifest an unspoken crime this line is read when Dimmesdale and
Chillingworth are having a private conversation between each other and Hawthorn creates a bit of
tension in this scene by showing the reader how Chillingworth would torture Dimmesdale but still
manage to keep Dimmesdale from knowing he is actually Hester s former husband.
Moreover, Chillingworth does not just torture the minister he also makes sure he is kept in good
health so he may stay alive and prolong his twisted enjoyment. This could be found in paragraph
fourteen it reads But for my aid, his life would have burned away in torments within the first two
years after the perpetration of his crime and thine. In these lines he is boasting how the minister
would have already died without his medical knowledge, as if he were trying to explain that what
he had done hasn t been all bad and his actions should actually be celebrated. This can show the
reader how Chillingworth to some extent was denying his sins trying belittle them.
Furthermore, Chillingworth s mission to torture Dimmesdale soon becomes his way of sustaining
himself and metaphorically keep himself alive,

1. Introduction
The significance of language is a broad theme in the Г‡ity of Glass . The detective fiction novel
Г‡ity of Glass written by Paul Auster portrays different concepts of prelapsarian and postlapsarian
language.
Which are revealed through characters, such as Daniel Quinn, Peter Stillman Jr., Peter Stillman Sr.,

Sleep Apne The Cessation Of Respiratory Airflow
Apnea is defined as the cessation of respiratory airflow. Sleep Apnea is a growing disorder
affecting children and adults without discrimination to age, gender, race or sex. There are three
main categories of apnea: central, obstructive, and mixed. Although there are many forms of
sleeping disorders Central Sleep Apnea(CSA) is classified to be a less common sleeping disorder
characterized by life threating health conditions not limited to death if not diagnosed in a timely
fashion and treated to prevent or reduce the symptoms that cause the apnea threshold Pac02
levels to increase or decrease with cessation of airflow during sleep. Central sleep apnea can
increase the risk stroke, diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure. Only ten to fifteen percent
people with sleep disordered breathing are classified as having Central Sleep Apnea. Common sign
and symptoms of Central Sleep Apnea include trouble staying awake, shortness of breath, abnormal
breathing patterns during sleep, and sudden awakenings coupled with shortness of breath. Central
Sleep Apnea occurs when there is a decline in respiratory effort and as a result of inadequate
medullary responsiveness or poor muscle coordination for breathing. Central sleep apnea can be
split into more than one main category depending on the underlying conditions that contribute to
the specific disorder. Depending on which type of central sleep apnea a person has, a doctor will

The Issue Of Paid Parental Leave
INTRODUCTION
Is America falling behind the rest of the world in terms of the services it provides? As a proud
citizen of this great nation I, unfortunately, have to say yes. Our once outstanding country has been
falling behind in a number of areas including technology, education, economics, and yes, even in
family care! America is now one of only three industrialized countries that hasn t set up a
nationwide policy for paid parental leave. With this knowledge I desired to know more,
particularly if we as a nation are not doing much to rectify the situation. Then, to learn if any
states were doing something about this issue which effects so many people in the workforce. I
wanted to see exactly how far behind, compared to the rest world, we are in the issue of paid
parental leave. The Pew Research Center conducted a study of government supported leave in
38 OECD countries, and found that the US had the lowest figures with zero weeks of paid leave.
Though we did fare better when it came to the number of weeks provided for protected leave
with 12 weeks. We were still far worse than most other OECD countries (see Figure 1 at right).
Knowing that we were rated worse I wanted to know what people are saying that we can and
should be doing to change this situation?

were GDIs in the superotemporal quadrant of each eye. In the right eye, there was corneal edema in
the superotemporal quadrant extending to the pupillary margin and a 3 millimeter central

The Patriot Movie Analysis
The Patriot Essay
The Patriot is a movie which included several differences and similarities to the actual history of the
American Revolution, including a bias against the British. Directed by Ronald Emmerich, the
movie was a depiction of the American Revolution, with Benjamin Martin as our strong and fierce
main character.
There was a bountiful amount of similarities between The Patriot and the American Revolutionary
war including, first of all Cornwallis surrenders, taxation without representation , and the world
changing after the revolution. Cornwallis, the British general, surrenders to the American force.
This happened in both the movie and in history. This matters because, if the British didn t surrender
the revolution would still go on, so it should stay the same. Adding on, another similarity was the
slogan, Taxation without Representation. It was shown in the movie and in history. This slogan
was for the stamp act, since colonists didn t get to represent themselves in the British government.
It was surely one of the main reasons of the revolutionary war. Lastly, another similarity is that the
world has changed. It has changed overtime after the war, and the Americans had their own
freedom, till this day. After the war, King George lll said the world is now changing, by peasants
basically the world changed, for the Americans and British. In conclusion the movie included these
points because it s significant, it has changed the world in a way. Without

Pros And Cons Of Reconstruction After The Civil War
For a short time after the Civil War, southern whites hoped for restoration of their rights and a return
to traditions and lifestyle before the conflict began. Radical Republicans imposed oppressive
policies and laws. Despite these difficulties, southern whites worked with other interests to improve
conditions going forward. Whites in the old Confederacy raised serious objections to what they
considered oppressive Reconstruction policies. However, they found ways to work within the
Reconstruction system to help restore antebellum traditions and culture. Part 1 There was
widespread opposition to Reconstruction policies among whites in the old Confederacy. They felt
forced to renounce their southern heritage and the values of the Confederacy to rejoin the Union.
They disliked the negative attitude of northern interests and their severe punishments of the South.
They objected to granting citizenship and suffrage rights to freed blacks who gained political power
and broke with southern traditions ( Sectional Conflict, Views Opposed on Reconstruction and the
War s Aftermath; Foner). Reconstruction efforts were complicated. After Lincoln s assassination,
President Andrew Johnson favored legislation placating the South and the former Confederacy and
returning property to prewar owners (History.com Staff, Carpetbaggers Scalawags ). Using his
pardoning powers, Johnson restored virtually all political rights to most Confederates. Southern
states balked when forced to repeal

Figurative Language In Dudley Randall s Ballad Of Birmingham
When I first saw the title, Ballad of Birmingham I thought that this poem is going to be about the
city of Birmingham and how beautiful it is. Then I saw what was beneath the title which said, On
the bombing of a church in Birmingham, Alabama, 1963. I now know that the poem is going to be
about a bombing, something I know but the characters don t. That sentence also tells me it takes
place in 1963 which is around the time of the civil rights movement.
The poem is about a girl who wants to go downtown and march for freedom but his mother would
not let her because she fears her daughter will get hurt. The mother sends the girl to church thinking
she will be safe there. Then the church is bombed and the girl was one of the victims
In this poem the poet and speaker are two totally people. The poet is Dudley Randall and the
speaker is a spectator. I can tell that the speaker is a speaker because he/she is telling a story for
example, She clawed trough bits of glass and brick. This shows us that the speaker is a spectator
since he/she is telling us what is happening as if he/she were there.
In this poem there is a lot of figurative language. One of the biggest types of figurative language
used in this poem is irony. The irony in this poem is how the mother wouldn t let her child go to
march because she feared her child would get hurt. Instead she sent her child to church because
she believed it was a safe and sacred place but ironically the church ended up being bombed.
Another piece of figurative language that is very effective in this poem is imagery. The way the
poem is written helps me create images in my head for example, She raced through the streets of
Birmingham. I can imagine her running around desperately, looking for her child. The metaphors
and hyperboles in this poem also help with the imagery, for example, ...night dark hair, and ...rose
petal sweet. These metaphors make me think of the girls smoothly combed black hair and her
fresh and beautiful rosy smell. A hyperbole that had a huge effect on the tone was, But that smile
was the last smile to ever come upon her face. This hyperbole really helps me understand the effect
of a tragic moment like this and how it can completely ruin

Access Management had been noted as a major milestone in security and technology. Many
systems such as Paxton Access Inc., Identiv, and Quantum Secure had sought to innovate and
improve how access management is used when individuals are allowed access to secured
infrastructures. The purpose of this project was to outline how Physical Access can be used to gain
access to buildings and facilities using Paxton Access Inc.
Background
The ICAM (Identity, Credentialing, and Access Management) lab supported the advancement of
access management to allow logical and physical access to many organizations (FCIOC
FEA,2011). For this project, the lab was led by students, faculty, and supported with products such

Organizations emphasized the use of physical security to help enable the use of physical access
controls. It was reported that physical security became difficult to manage due to technology
becoming complex every day (Hutter,2016). It was indicated that organization often over looked
physical security until after a serious event had occurred. Per Hutter, physical security threats were
either internal or external. Employees were considered external threats when they gain access to
unobserved areas and were considered internal threats when their knowledge was utilized.
Organizations were noted to implement the use of physical security through locked doors, access
control systems (i.e. Paxton Access Inc, Identiv), alarm systems and many other important
applicable measures.
Physical Access Controls
Physical Access Control enabled control entry into buildings, parking lots, and many other
protected areas. For example, many organization demonstrated the use of physical access when
employees used programmed security cards. Security cards used in organization for access were
noted to but known as smart cards (David Solomon, 2014, p 154).

Telecommunications: Company Vodafone
Vodafone is a British multinational telecommunications company which operates its own networks
in 26 countries and has partner networks in over 50 countries. Such a wide range of markets
makes Vodafone apply different marketing strategies to satisfy customers needs and make profits
from it. This chapter of the essay will focus on EU s and Indian marketing strategies of Vodafoneto
prove the importance of having different marketing strategies in different markets.
The market in the EU is relatively mature compared with the Indian market. In a mature market
of telecommunications the number of consumers of a mobile network is relatively steady. On
Financial Times website, in Daniel Thomas s (2014) article Vodafone continues its evolution and
widens European foothold , he describes the marketing strategy of Vodafone in EU specifically.
Now the main strategy in EU is about expending Vodafone s business to other fields including
the broadband and TV markets. In order to realize the business expending Vodafone began to
purchase other companies like Ono of Spain, Cable Wireless Worldwide in the UK and Kabel
Deutschland in Germany which provide such service to customers. Also Building Vodafone s own
network in Italy, Spain and Portugal is another strategy used for business expending. Daniel
Thomas (2014) mentioned Mr. Colao CEO of Vodafone describes the strategy of Vodafone in EU s
market as the next chapter . Mr. Colao also pointed that

Middle School Are Essential For The Success Of Students
For me, middle school was probably the most excruciating years of my life. I thought it was only
me and everyone else had it easy and completely understood everything that was happening to
their bodies and minds. In fact, I still have dreams about my middle school years like forgetting
my locker combination or hiding in the bathroom stall because the most popular girls were
gossiping about a friend of yours. The settings in these dreams are always my middle school; I find
it amazing that thirty years after I attended school that I can remember vivid details about the
layout, hallways, lockers, and teachers. The reason for this I believe is that for ALL students the
middle school years are the most influential to shaping and becoming who a person is and who they
wish to become. Middle schools are essential for the success of students because of the unique
developmental stages of these students. For teachers, comprehension of young adolescent
development is key to understanding the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and moral needs
and interests of these students (Powell, 2015, p. 55) and also teachers need to develop a curriculum
that is focused on developing students competence in all subject matter and using their knowledge
and available resources to design, implement, and evaluate challenging, responsive curriculums that
result in meaningful learning outcomes (Powell, 2015, p. 145). All students should feel that they

Social Media Integration Theory Of Isra Garcia (2010)
Social Media Integration Theory of Isra Garcia (2010)
According to Isra Garcia (2010), The exposure, feedback, engagement , connection and sharing that
Social Media platforms provides, creates a major changes for the traditional communication
understanding. The flow of communication is no longer considered as a one way street in which
audience received messages through the I communicate you receive mantra. Rather, Social Media
integration is seen as an interactive process in which there is more than two people communicating
to each other at the same time that enables same level information exchange among the users.
Social bookmarking sites such as blogs or web pages place content into an active eco system that
allows social media interaction such as Twitter or Facebook. This content is then partaked and
spread virally through the interaction made on the social media eco system. This refers to people
being connected to people through common groups, associations, and interests. Since this becomes
the six degrees of separation this interaction causes the viral effect. This social media platform
allows the interaction and the ability for the model to flow and become organic. Then, the social
networking platforms enable the connection with the public through the engagement approach
caused by the two way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Roaring Twenties By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Roaring Twenties were a time of leisure and parties. The media and events surrounding this
time period greatly impacted the carefree, extravagant lifestyle. This era was one of the most
dramatic and energetic times in American history. To many, the symbols of the roaring Twenties
were F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife, due to their tales of the young and the wealthy (Hanson 96).
The Roaring Twentiesinfluenced many literary works, throughout the 1920s such as F. Scott
Fitzgeralds The Great Gatsbyand This Side of Paradise.
At the start of the 1920s, prohibition had just begun, banning the purchase, sale, and
manufacture of alcohol. This actually had adverse effects as people began to make their own
alcohol and sell it illegally (Hanson 96). World War I had also recently ended, and soldiers were
coming home to a recession in the U.S. The end of the war meant a drop in government
spending and exports. Business bankruptcies tripled between 1919 and 1920. Many businesses
were forced to cut wages and lay off workers (McDonnell 296). As the 1920 recession came to an
end, Americans had more leisure time and money to spare (353). By 1922 the economy had fully
rebounded and there was even a shortage of workers (319). World War I fueled the fire of
American s suspicions of foreigners (McDonnell 296). The Red Scare had Americans paralyzed by
the fear of a possible communist infiltration (301). Along with foreign intolerance, racial intolerance
broke out due to wartime migration

Why Are Introverts Not Being Recognize
Why aren t introverts not being recognize for their skills is it because they are being silence by
the extroverts or are they just don t want to talk at all. Well one part of this has to do with our
society and how extroverts have control over everything in our schools, work places, events, and
even the government I m not saying extroverts are bad I m and that way both extroverts, and
introverts function as part of a society. In western society extroverts has really good communication
skills and they communicate petty well in our society but introverts communicate differently some
introverts will try and just fit in with the group or they will just remain silence at a meeting.

Research Lab Report Stoichiometry
Stoichiometry has many uses in the real world. In the chemical industry and in professional
scientific experiments, scientists use stoichiometry to save money. Scientists use stoichiometric
calculations to determine the amount of a substance they need to purchase for a specific
reaction. There are four possible reactions that can occur when sodium bicarbonate thermally
decomposes. In this lab, stoichiometry was used to find out which balanced chemical equation
out the four best represents the thermal decomposition of sodium bicarbonate. Before the lab
began, stoichiometry was used to predict the net weight of the solids for each reaction. For each
trial, the crucible was weighed to calculate the true weight of the NaHCO3 sample before and
after it decomposes. A 2g sample of NaHCO3 was weighed out in the crucible. Using a Bunsen
burner, the sample of NaHCO3 was heated past 200В°C for 4 minutes to allow a thermal
decomposition reaction to occur. The sample was taken out of the heat and its weight was recorded
to measure the weight of the new solid. The sample was put back into the heat for an additional 4
minutes and weighed again until there was no significant change in the weight to ensure that the
reaction had taken place. After washing out the crucible to remove the possibility of a different
reaction with the solid and to obtain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Oxygen is a chemical element with symbol O and atomic number 8. It is a member of the
chalcogen group on the periodic table and is a highly reactive non metal and oxidizing agent that
readily forms oxides with most elements as well as other compounds. By mass, oxygen is the third
most abundant element in the universe, after hydrogen and helium. At standard temperature and

as proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, and fats, as do the major constituent inorganic compounds
of animal shells, teeth, and bone. Most of the mass of living organisms is oxygen as a component
of water, the major constituent of lifeforms. Conversely, oxygen is continuously replenished by
photosynthesis, which uses the energy of sunlight to produce oxygen from water and carbon

The story is very different and unoriginal. Notably, we have seen this concept there and there, but

Animal Testing Satire
When was the last time you bought makeup? Or even more specifically when was the last time

To start, the results of animal testing cannot be accurately assumed safe for human use. In 1960 an

At the beginning of the play Bianca is portrayed as the ideal woman of her time as she is sweet
and obedient . Bianca used the idea of how a woman should behave and the characteristics she
should have to her advantage because she shows this side to her father but represents herself
differently to her suitors. Hortensio learns a lot more to Bianca compared to all her other
suitors. He discovers her real personality and describes her as a proud disdainful haggard. It is
unexpected to majority of the society, to see her unique characterisation and her actions being
inappropriate towards the society. Hortensio also sees the importance of kindness in women, not
their beauteous looks which shows the differences between the time period the play was written
and the modern day. During the Elizabethan time period, it was more important for women to be
beautiful and there was little care about a woman s personal characteristics as long as she
followed certain social rules. Today, it is more important for people to have good morals and
values compared to good looks. Therefore, the connection between gender roles and the modern
society is shown through Bianca s unique characterisation and differences between her behaviour to
society and her

This shows that brand country of origin play an important role in determining the quality of brand
which influences their attitude and purchase intentions. In developing country like Pakistan
brand origin (that the brand is from which country) affects the perception of consumers for
foreign products (Kaynak et al., 1999) and this foreign product can be more favorable if the
brand is from the western or developed country. Consumers evaluate products more positively
which are particularly from the USA, Japan, Germany, Italy, the UK and France (Bhuian, 1997)
brands are well recognized by consumers around the world, and are perceived as to representing a
high status and quality we believe that this effect consumer assessment of brand quality rating
(Lee,M,Y., Knight,D., Kim,Y,K., 2008) Looking at how consumers perceive local brands. The
study revealed that local brands benefit from a better value. As it is mention by Simriti Bajaj
(2007) that Value is linked with the fact that prices of local brands are usually lower than those of
international brands, providing consumers as sense of better value for money.

Homeward Bound in Moby Dick, by Herman Melville
Moby Dick, written by Herman Melville, is believed by some to be the greatest literary works of
all time. The book takes place in the 1840s and seems greatly advanced for its time. Herman
Melville uses many literary techniques that bring about severe imagery as well as insight and
education to the readers. One concept that is conveyed in Moby Dick is the journey itself. This
is broken into the physical journey, the spiritual journey, and life s journey. The physical journey
of Moby Dick is depicted by the information gained of the labor intensive actions performed on
the Pequod as well as other whaling ships. Life on whaling ships does not seem very relaxed.
Many hours of sleep are lost at night, some do not sleep at all, and when you... Show more content

In one scene Ahab confides to Starbuck about his great sadness with his life. He has spent 40
years whaling and only 3 on the shore. He starts to realize that his life journey as well as his
spiritual journey has been to capture and kill the torturous monster that maimed him. An excerpt
that summarizes Ahab s feelings is from Chapter 132 and reads: Aye, I widowed that poor girl
when I married her, Starbuck; and then, the madness, the frenzy, the boiling blood and the
smoking brow, with which, for a thousand lowerings old Ahab has furiously, foamingly chased
his prey more a demon than a man aye, aye! What a forty years fool fool old fool, has old Ahab
been! (p. 404) This excerpt confirms the idea that Ahab has spent his life obsessing over killing
whales particularly Moby Dick. He admits that he has become a demon in his yearning for
vengeance of his lost limb. The other life journey that takes place in Moby Dick is that of
Ishmael. From the opening chapters the reader can see that Ishmael is indeed a lost soul trying
to find his place in life. From the start the reader can infer that Ishmael thinks down on himself
when trying to choose a hotel to stay at. He tries to avoid the expensive ones because he believes
they are too good for him. Ishmael has no idea where he is going to stay night after night. This
shows his lonesomeness within the story. He decides to start whaling with Captain Ahab and his
crew to find his

Benefits Of Free College Education
Having a high school diploma is no longer sufficient to guarantee jobs for many Americans. Soaring
tuition fees and other factors, like dorming, are making attending college nearly impossible for
people in the lower class. This results in them ending up in debt after graduation or not attending
college at all. Implementing free education for all students and ensuring they have equal
opportunities to reach their maximum potential is a human right. To fulfill this right, the
government needs to provide an option that will make higher educationmore affordable. If college
was accessible to students of all social and economical backgrounds, it would have a significant and
beneficial impact nationwide.
When Bernie Sanders first proposed his plan during the 2016 presidential race to eliminate tuition
and fees for students attending public universities, his plan resonated with many young American
voters. It also sparked a national debate over whether free tuition is the way to go if the ultimate
goal is to improve college access and affordability for students from low and middle income
families and ultimately end student debt. President Barack Obama proposed to make two years of
community college free for students across America, and New York s government introduced a
tuition free college program through the Excelsior Scholarship program. However, while these
proposals seemed beneficial, many experts have examined these proposals and their views are very
different from one

The Violence Of A Multi Ethnic Society
Samuel Huntington famously stated that the fiercest clashes have become battles between
civilizations, according to him these clashes are neither ideological or economic, but rather cultural.
Huntington couldn t have been more mistaken. In reality, the modern world has become plagued
with an increasing presence of intra state wars as modern conflict has become synonymous with
clashes between individuals, groups, and communities that differ very little . Freud attempted to
explain this perplexing occurrence as a narcissism of minor differences by stating that group
solidarity requires the existence of an Other , a minority, which through its suppression validates the
identity of the majority. According to this logic, all communities despite their homogeneity must
seek a minority within themselves in order to validate their existence. Bosnia s cosmopolitanism
prior to the Yugoslavian War provides us with a vivid example that this narcissism is a superficial
explanation as to why fraternal conflict occurs. Prior to the war, Bosnia was not only the most
ethnically integrated Yugoslavian republic, it was the poster child of a multi ethnic society in
which various ethnicities not only coexisted but rather intermingled. This peaceful coexistence was
disrupted by Slobodan Milosevic, Serbias president, who used Yugoslavias economic and political
crisis of 1988 in his favour by essentializing the crisis along the lines of ethnic national identity.

The Value Of A Shepa Life Summary
In The Value of a Sherpa Life by Grayson Schaffer the argumentative article commands a change for
the lives and well being of the ethnic group known as the Sherpas. The well recognized summit of
Everest demands a lot from a human being but most importantly, it demands Sherpas. Schaffer uses
current events not only including the involvement of Sherpas but the significant amounts of death
the Sherpa climbing industry endorse. Although Shaffer does not believe that the solution is to stop
the climbing industry but to improve the value of these Sherpa s lives. Sherpa s deaths are not only
a detrimental effect on the climbing industry but more importantly, the families of these Sherpa s.
Shaffer believes that the industry values life on a two tiered basis:... Show more content on

The Westerners are the majority of the reason that Sherpas have to put their lives on the line and
most of the time the Sherpa s do not even want this job; most Sherpa s are apart of the climbing
industry to do simple things like: sending their children to school, putting food on the table, and
supporting their families. Schaffer constantly argues that Without the hard work of the Sherpa
porters, it would be largely impossible for Americans and Europeans with slightly above average
physiology, and well above average disposable income to scale the world s tallest mountains (217).
Schaffer believes that the quality of life one may encounter whether it is on or off the mountain
should not be determined by whether one s job is to climb a mountain or a choice. When the
Sherpas do not return home their family are often left in massive debt, a loss of a supportive
income and a loved one which is a nightmare for the families. The Kathmandu based insurance
company will

The Tension between Argentina and Britian
Argentina and Britain have always had mild tension between them almost since the the
independence of Argentina, this main cause of tension has always been over the sovereignty of the
Falkland Islands.
Britain first claimed sovereignty of the Islands in 1765 alongside France around approximately the
same time, however France transferred it s settlements to Spain in 1767. Britain left their settlement
on the Island in 1774 but claimed they never relinquished sovereignty. Spain also abandoned their
settlement later in 1811. (BBC News , 2013)
In 1820 an Argentine merchant, Luis Vernet, tried to established commercial settlements on the
islands. These settlements were not officially claimed by Argentinauntil 1828, when Luis Vernet
submitted his proposal for official recognition of his commercial settlement on Malvinas to become
an Argentine colony. The Argentine government, shortly after receiving the proposal, declared their
claim to the islands. (Lorton, 2012)
In 1833 the first conflict between Britain and Argentina occurred in regards to the islands. Britain
had returned to islands to expel the Argentine garrison, the British removed the Argentine flag
flying on the island and sent it back with their men to the mainland with a message, the British had
found, a foreign flag in the territory of His Majesty. (Lorton, 2012, p.g 151). The Argentine settlers
on the Island were allowed to remain alsong as the accepted British rule, however most settlers left
gradually after.

Overcoming Barriers To Reduce Diversity In The Workplace
To effectively overcome the barriers against diversity in the workplace, first a general
understanding of what diversity is must be developed. Knowing how diversity affects a workplace
environment, advantages and disadvantages of diversity in the workplace, and the legal obstacles
that surround both employers and employees when dealing with diversityand equality are important
to understand. Based on the results from the survey completed with the employees, these topics are
a great place to start in the training.
What is Diversity?
The Business Dictionary defines diversity as Human Resources a mixed workforce that provides a
wide range of abilities, experience, knowledge, and strengths due to its heterogeneity in age,
background, ethnicity, physical abilities, political and religious beliefs, sex, and other attributes.
(Business Dictionary, 2017)
Diversity does not mean race or race relations; the actual meaning of the word diversity is
difference. Differences in thinking styles, values, race, ethnicity, orientation or any aspect of our
social identity, are examples.
Diversity in the Workplace
People with demographic differences working in the same organization make a diverse workforce.
Perceptions affect people s relations in how they communicate and interact with one another.
Human resource professionals must be effective when dealing with organizational issues relating to
diversity in order for those organizations to be successful. Assessing any needs that arise

  • 2. O Neill s Non Fiction Piece, The Firecracker Boys O Neill s non fiction piece, The Firecracker Boys, provides an in depth depiction of the morality and ecological problems behind the peaceful use of nuclear bombs . Unmasking true intentions, O Neill describes the Atomic Energy Commission s (AEC) push to continue nuclear bomb testing, regardless of the global moratorium or the resulting implications it would have on national relations with the Soviets. O Neill provides a perspective that sees through all of the misconstrued data and influential power of the AEC, showing clear drivers behind the backing of these destructive practices. As a whole, The Firecracker Boys addresses both the environmental and social injustices that the AEC and its proponents wholeheartedly represented. On October 31, 1958, a global moratorium on all nuclear bomb testing was put into effect after the scientific and public community became increasingly aware of the negative effects that the radioactive fallout was having on both the ecological and social communities. Strontium 90, a toxic chemical found in this fallout was being taken up as calcium by the living organisms in the radioactive zones. According to O Neill, A single teaspoon of it, if distributed evenly among all the people on earth, would kill every one of them within a few years (O Neill, 51). Once this chemical is taken up by living organisms, it enters the immensely interconnected food chain. Specifically in Alaska, the radioactive fallout found its way into the native ... • 4. Teacher And Student Behaviors In Inclusive Classrooms By... Each fall, both teachers and students look expectantly toward the new year as a time of excitement and optimism. Will I be able to help my students learn as much as they can as fast as they can? Will the teacher like me? Will my students like me? With or without research or theory, each member of the class community knows the importance of the teacher student relationship. As an administrator in an elementary school with both the highest gifted percentage in the count and a visually impaired cluster unit, it is important that I understand the scientific data surrounding forming relationships to support teacher understanding of its impact on their classroom climate and to encourage methods of class community building. The problem, therefore, is twofold what is the impact of Exceptional Student Education(ESE) students on teacher student relationships and what preconceived notions do teachers have that impact their relationships with their students. This is important to the field of education as we transition from the old model of secluding ESE students in self contained classrooms to the newer model of inclusion. As teachers better understand the research, their behaviors affecting relationship building will be of greater import and, thus, a priority. In Teacher and Student Behaviors in Inclusive Classrooms by Nevin Guner Yildiz, teacher and student behaviors were observed and recorded on a data collection form designed according to the time sampling method. ... In Rhode Island, Johnson and Wales University s culinary school invested in a high tech composting machine in their kitchen. Although the initial investment was substantial, the university is already saving money. Specifically, they expect for the machine to pay for itself in 5 years because they don t send trash to Rhode Island Central Landfill (Luebsdorf). Even in big cities where composting plants are accessible, many believe there is no demand for the final product of composting. At this time, most of the U.S. composting plants are small. Although in some regions, the composting industry is gaining popularity and interest from many investors across the nation. Marketing development, higher procurement participation rate programs, and economic incentives are all being implemented to help persuade composting. The state of Connecticut is currently offering six million dollars in loans or grants to the composting industry (Platt 9). Some even believe the demand for compost will increase so much, regulatory action and mandates will be unneeded. But until then, any food waste landfills bans and other composting requirements have to be considered (Leubsdorf). In the meantime, in locations where commercial composting operations are unavailable, local composting is still viable for most of the food service industry. • 8. Threepenny Opera As A Mirror To Society To me, one of the most important aspects of theatre is to be a mirror to society or to a person s individual psychology. A play should be painting a picture of a pre existing reality, not just making up a new one for entertainment purposes. The best plays are just this, either a complex picture of society as it is or a character study that the audience is meant to take into their own lives. Threepenny Opera does follow this guideline, though it is most decidedly not a character study. The characters of Threepenny Opera are cruel and shallow, meant to prove a point rather than serve as a vessel for empathy. Three Penny Opera is a show that focuses more on society, a show that wants us to question it and ourselves. Three Penny Opera is an important show for modern audiences to see because the issues that it brings up are still relevant. It is important because of it s messages about our treatment of the poor, and the call to action that it makes on the poor s behalf. The society presented in the Threepenny Operais one that is very divided by class. It is an England that is separated by rich and poor where the richer and more influential receive better treatment and luck than the beggars who have to spend their time attempting to engender enough pity to eat and live. We spend most of the play observing these poor, but we do get glimpses at some of the more privileged. Peachum is one of these described as more wealthy, as are the police and the reverend. As a proud citizen of this great nation I, unfortunately, have to say yes. Our once outstanding country has been falling behind in a number of areas including technology, education, economics, and yes, even in family care! America is now one of only three industrialized countries that hasn t set up a nationwide policy for paid parental leave. With this knowledge I desired to know more, particularly if we as a nation are not doing much to rectify the situation. Then, to learn if any states were doing something about this issue which effects so many people in the workforce. I wanted to see exactly how far behind, compared to the rest world, we are in the issue of paid parental leave. The Pew Research Center conducted a study of government supported leave in 38 OECD countries, and found that the US had the lowest figures with zero weeks of paid leave. Though we did fare better when it came to the number of weeks provided for protected leave with 12 weeks. We were still far worse than most other OECD countries (see Figure 1 at right). Knowing that we were rated worse I wanted to know what people are saying that we can and should be doing to change this situation? • 17. The Patriot Movie Analysis The Patriot Essay The Patriot is a movie which included several differences and similarities to the actual history of the American Revolution, including a bias against the British. Directed by Ronald Emmerich, the movie was a depiction of the American Revolution, with Benjamin Martin as our strong and fierce main character. There was a bountiful amount of similarities between The Patriot and the American Revolutionary war including, first of all Cornwallis surrenders, taxation without representation , and the world changing after the revolution. Cornwallis, the British general, surrenders to the American force. This happened in both the movie and in history. This matters because, if the British didn t surrender the revolution would still go on, so it should stay the same. Adding on, another similarity was the slogan, Taxation without Representation. It was shown in the movie and in history. This slogan was for the stamp act, since colonists didn t get to represent themselves in the British government. It was surely one of the main reasons of the revolutionary war. Lastly, another similarity is that the world has changed. It has changed overtime after the war, and the Americans had their own freedom, till this day. After the war, King George lll said the world is now changing, by peasants basically the world changed, for the Americans and British. Pros And Cons Of Reconstruction After The Civil War For a short time after the Civil War, southern whites hoped for restoration of their rights and a return to traditions and lifestyle before the conflict began. Radical Republicans imposed oppressive policies and laws. Despite these difficulties, southern whites worked with other interests to improve conditions going forward. Whites in the old Confederacy raised serious objections to what they considered oppressive Reconstruction policies. However, they found ways to work within the Reconstruction system to help restore antebellum traditions and culture. Part 1 There was widespread opposition to Reconstruction policies among whites in the old Confederacy. They felt forced to renounce their southern heritage and the values of the Confederacy to rejoin the Union. They disliked the negative attitude of northern interests and their severe punishments of the South. They objected to granting citizenship and suffrage rights to freed blacks who gained political power and broke with southern traditions ( Sectional Conflict, Views Opposed on Reconstruction and the War s Aftermath; Foner). After Lincoln s assassination, President Andrew Johnson favored legislation placating the South and the former Confederacy and returning property to prewar owners (History.com Staff, Carpetbaggers Scalawags ). • 19. Figurative Language In Dudley Randall s Ballad Of Birmingham When I first saw the title, Ballad of Birmingham I thought that this poem is going to be about the city of Birmingham and how beautiful it is. Then I saw what was beneath the title which said, On the bombing of a church in Birmingham, Alabama, 1963. I now know that the poem is going to be about a bombing, something I know but the characters don t. That sentence also tells me it takes place in 1963 which is around the time of the civil rights movement. The poem is about a girl who wants to go downtown and march for freedom but his mother would not let her because she fears her daughter will get hurt. The mother sends the girl to church thinking she will be safe there. Then the church is bombed and the girl was one of the victims In this poem the poet and speaker are two totally people. The poet is Dudley Randall and the speaker is a spectator. I can tell that the speaker is a speaker because he/she is telling a story for example, She clawed trough bits of glass and brick. This shows us that the speaker is a spectator since he/she is telling us what is happening as if he/she were there. In this poem there is a lot of figurative language. One of the biggest types of figurative language used in this poem is irony. The irony in this poem is how the mother wouldn t let her child go to march because she feared her child would get hurt. Instead she sent her child to church because she believed it was a safe and sacred place but ironically the church ended up being bombed. Another piece of figurative language that is very effective in this poem is imagery. The way the poem is written helps me create images in my head for example, She raced through the streets of Birmingham. I can imagine her running around desperately, looking for her child. The metaphors and hyperboles in this poem also help with the imagery, for example, ...night dark hair, and ...rose petal sweet. These metaphors make me think of the girls smoothly combed black hair and her fresh and beautiful rosy smell. For teachers, comprehension of young adolescent development is key to understanding the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and moral needs and interests of these students (Powell, 2015, p. 55) and also teachers need to develop a curriculum that is focused on developing students competence in all subject matter and using their knowledge and available resources to design, implement, and evaluate challenging, responsive curriculums that result in meaningful learning outcomes (Powell, 2015, p. 145). The flow of communication is no longer considered as a one way street in which audience received messages through the I communicate you receive mantra. Social bookmarking sites such as blogs or web pages place content into an active eco system that allows social media interaction such as Twitter or Facebook. This content is then partaked and spread virally through the interaction made on the social media eco system. This refers to people being connected to people through common groups, associations, and interests. Since this becomes the six degrees of separation this interaction causes the viral effect. World War I had also recently ended, and soldiers were coming home to a recession in the U.S. The end of the war meant a drop in government spending and exports. Business bankruptcies tripled between 1919 and 1920. Many businesses were forced to cut wages and lay off workers (McDonnell 296). As the 1920 recession came to an end, Americans had more leisure time and money to spare (353). By 1922 the economy had fully rebounded and there was even a shortage of workers (319). In the chemical industry and in professional scientific experiments, scientists use stoichiometry to save money. Scientists use stoichiometric calculations to determine the amount of a substance they need to purchase for a specific reaction. There are four possible reactions that can occur when sodium bicarbonate thermally decomposes. In this lab, stoichiometry was used to find out which balanced chemical equation out the four best represents the thermal decomposition of sodium bicarbonate. Before the lab began, stoichiometry was used to predict the net weight of the solids for each reaction. For each trial, the crucible was weighed to calculate the true weight of the NaHCO3 sample before and after it decomposes. A 2g sample of NaHCO3 was weighed out in the crucible. Using a Bunsen burner, the sample of NaHCO3 was heated past 200В°C for 4 minutes to allow a thermal decomposition reaction to occur. The sample was taken out of the heat and its weight was recorded to measure the weight of the new solid. The sample was put back into the heat for an additional 4 minutes and weighed again until there was no significant change in the weight to ensure that the reaction had taken place. Soaring tuition fees and other factors, like dorming, are making attending college nearly impossible for people in the lower class. This results in them ending up in debt after graduation or not attending college at all. Implementing free education for all students and ensuring they have equal opportunities to reach their maximum potential is a human right. To fulfill this right, the government needs to provide an option that will make higher educationmore affordable. If college was accessible to students of all social and economical backgrounds, it would have a significant and beneficial impact nationwide. When Bernie Sanders first proposed his plan during the 2016 presidential race to eliminate tuition and fees for students attending public universities, his plan resonated with many young American voters. It also sparked a national debate over whether free tuition is the way to go if the ultimate goal is to improve college access and affordability for students from low and middle income families and ultimately end student debt. President Barack Obama proposed to make two years of community college free for students across America, and New York s government introduced a tuition free college program through the Excelsior Scholarship program. However, while these proposals seemed beneficial, many experts have examined these proposals and their views are very different from one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Violence Of A Multi Ethnic Society Samuel Huntington famously stated that the fiercest clashes have become battles between civilizations, according to him these clashes are neither ideological or economic, but rather cultural. Huntington couldn t have been more mistaken. In reality, the modern world has become plagued with an increasing presence of intra state wars as modern conflict has become synonymous with clashes between individuals, groups, and communities that differ very little . Freud attempted to explain this perplexing occurrence as a narcissism of minor differences by stating that group solidarity requires the existence of an Other , a minority, which through its suppression validates the identity of the majority. According to this logic, all communities despite their homogeneity must seek a minority within themselves in order to validate their existence. Bosnia s cosmopolitanism prior to the Yugoslavian War provides us with a vivid example that this narcissism is a superficial explanation as to why fraternal conflict occurs. Prior to the war, Bosnia was not only the most ethnically integrated Yugoslavian republic, it was the poster child of a multi ethnic society in which various ethnicities not only coexisted but rather intermingled. This peaceful coexistence was disrupted by Slobodan Milosevic, Serbias president, who used Yugoslavias economic and political crisis of 1988 in his favour by essentializing the crisis along the lines of ethnic national identity. The Westerners are the majority of the reason that Sherpas have to put their lives on the line and most of the time the Sherpa s do not even want this job; most Sherpa s are apart of the climbing industry to do simple things like: sending their children to school, putting food on the table, and supporting their families. Schaffer constantly argues that Without the hard work of the Sherpa porters, it would be largely impossible for Americans and Europeans with slightly above average physiology, and well above average disposable income to scale the world s tallest mountains (217). Schaffer believes that the quality of life one may encounter whether it is on or off the mountain should not be determined by whether one s job is to climb a mountain or a choice. When the Sherpas do not return home their family are often left in massive debt, a loss of a supportive income and a loved one which is a nightmare for the families.
