Essay Great Gatsby
Writing an essay on the topic of "The Great Gatsby" can be both challenging and rewarding. The
complexity lies not only in the intricate narrative and nuanced characters created by F. Scott
Fitzgerald but also in the layers of symbolism and themes embedded in the novel. Crafting an
insightful essay requires a deep understanding of the characters, their motivations, and the
historical context in which the story unfolds.
One of the difficulties stems from the need to analyze the symbolism woven throughout the
narrative. The green light, the Valley of Ashes, and the extravagant parties all hold deeper
meanings that contribute to the novel's overall message. Unraveling these symbols requires
careful consideration and interpretation, making it a task that demands both critical thinking and
literary analysis skills.
Furthermore, exploring the complex relationships between characters like Jay Gatsby, Daisy
Buchanan, and Tom Buchanan adds another layer of difficulty. Navigating the intricacies of
love, wealth, and social class in the Roaring Twenties requires a thoughtful examination of
character dynamics and motivations.
The thematic aspects of "The Great Gatsby" also present a challenge. Delving into themes such
as the American Dream, the corruption of wealth, and the illusion of happiness requires a keen
awareness of the broader socio-cultural context of the 1920s.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on "The Great Gatsby" demands a careful dissection of
Fitzgerald's prose and the themes he explores, it is also an opportunity to engage deeply with a
classic work of literature. However, for those who find themselves overwhelmed, it's worth
noting that assistance is available. Similar essays and more comprehensive academic support can
be ordered on platforms like HelpWriting.net, providing a valuable resource for those seeking
additional guidance in their literary analyses.

Why College Is A Successful Life With A Career
As of recently, the validity of college has been questioned, is it really necessary to
have a college education to be successful? In the past, education was the key to a
successful life with a career. However, as of recently, some people don t even have
to earn the much coveted bachelor s degree to make as much money as a person that
went to school to earn such degree. So the question is what is the purpose of college?
Is it really worth all the effort, time, sweat, and tears? Even though times have
changed and the reason for going to college has taken a financial turn. I m a firm
believer that college certainly has its purpose aside from financial. The person that
pushed me to go to college was my mother. In an informal interview I asked her
what she thought on the purpose of college. She immediately told me that it was a
vital element for me to have a successful future and life (Aguilar). In a poll
performed by pewsocialtrends.com Nearly every parent surveyed (94%) says they
expect their child to attend college... ( Is College Worth It? )
For some time the purpose of higher education has been debated. On one side people
insist that college is sort of a coming to age rite where student could learn and grow
in many ways. According to the survey performed by Pew research, Thirty nine
percent of people believe that college, main purpose is to open your senses and
mind to new things and new ideas ( Purpose of College Education ). From personal
experience, I could say
Oil Drilling and Pollution
One way that drilling for oil destroys animals homes is that fossil fuels create
carbon dioxide, and then that burned carbon dioxide goes into the atmosphere and
then Global Warming is starting to melt the ice caps that animals live on. Also,
drilling the new wells that we have to drill to get the oil, that makes the amount of
land for the animals to make homes go down, and when the land amount goes down
so does the length of the animals, like the polar bear, go down. The average length of
the polar bears mating season is about from the months March until May. Where
they want to reproduce is normally around where seals like to be. But then When
Global Warming gets more and more threatening, they have nowhere to go now.
Males tend to be very aggressive during the mating period, so that kills off the
population even more. When the female gets pregnant, she gains at least 44o
pounds because once the ice breaks, she won t be able to hunt for food. Another
reason is that if we happen to have an oil spill, that will devastate all the animals in
the Arctic. For example, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill was created
because when the BP operated rig Macondo Prospect exploded. The area in the Gulf
that was affected by the spill was eight thousand five hundred miles, to nine thousand,
four hundred and twenty one miles in 2010. But, the use of technology has really
helped the oil and gas industry because it has stopped useless drilling. An example of
this would be the

Need New Windows? 3 Reasons To Consider Sliding Windows
When the time comes to purchase new windows, the amount of options to pick from
may feel overwhelming. Not only do you need to select the windows material, but
there are different styles of windows as well. One style that you may not have
thought of before are horizontal sliding windows. Consider these 3 reasons for
buying them.
Sliding Windows Are Durable
Traditional double hung windows have various moving parts, many of them being
necessary to keep the window filly functioning. There are pulleys and springs that
help them resist gravity and stay open when in use, which can cause the window to
wear down over time and potential stop performing as they were intended.
A sliding window will

The early twentieth century was dominated with several multibillion companies.
Some of these companies included the three major motor companies often named as
the (Big 3). These were the General Motor, Chrysler and Ford. Toyota came up and
replaced Chrysler and became the world number two after knocking out Ford in the
year 2003. Since the year 2008, Toyota has remained on the world charts as the
largest automaker in the world.
Why Toyota?
There are several reasons why Toyota was chosen for this report. Some of them
include the fact that Toyota managed to experience a significant growth in its global
sales not only boosting its profits but pushing it to the top of the automobile industry.
The other key issues that also became known include the design of Toyota global
production and their distribution network. The principal purpose for any company to
do a strategic planning is to develop a shared understanding by all stakeholders in a
business, of the implications and trends that take place in the everyday business
operations (Abraham, 2012). Through strategic planning, a company has the
opportunity to develop its mission and vision statements. This help to describe and
define the purpose of the company in relation to its operation and interests of its
shareholders at a particular time. Through planning, companies are able to set
achievable targets and consequently develop

Best Buy s Turn Around Strategy (2013)
CEO HUBERT JOLY BREATHED A SIGH OF RELIEF as he reviewed the 2012 end
of year holiday revenue figures for Best Buy. After perhaps the most tumultuous
year ever in the life of the company, he knew the numbers could be much worse.
Despite being the world s largest retailer of consumer electronics with $50 billion
in annual sales, Best Buy s financial situation was precarious. The company s stock
price had fallen from $45 to $15 per share over the past two years, a drop of roughly
60 percent.1 While revenues had been increasing at a marginal rate, both comparable

Sound of Music, an audio specialty store, in Minnesota in 1966. The fledgling
company ended its first fiscal year with gross sales of $173,000, and continued to
grow rapidly over the next few years. By the time of its initial public offering in
1969, the hometown enterprise had acquired two of its local competitors12 and had
opened two new outlets near the University of

Schulze bought out Wheeler in 1971,13 shortly after Sound of Music hit the $1

Math Vectors
MIchael Driesen Mrs. Rozell Math 10H 17 December 2011 Vectors Math is
everywhere. No matter which way you look at it, it s there. It is especially present
in science. Most people don t notice it, they have to look closer to find out what it
is really made of. A component in math that is very prominent in science is the
vector. What is a vector? A vector is a geometric object that has both a magnitude
and a direction. A good example of a vector is wind. 30 MPH north. It has both
magnitude,(in this case speed) and direction. Vectors have specific properties that
make them very useful in real life applications. Through the use of these special
objects, many advancements in the fields of math and science are available.

The equation for the cross product is: . It can also be written as: The easiest way
of finding the cross product is by setting the coordinates up in a 3x3 matrix. A
matrix is a way of organizing data. Using i, j, and k as place holders and using the
same two vectors from before, the matrix would look like this: Now, in order to get
the new vector, the determinant has to be found. The work for the determinant is
below: The final vector is a vector that is orthogonal to the other two. This is a
good representation of what it would look like: The cross product is necessary to
find the amount of torque or work needed or used. Other Vectors Null Vector: The
null vector is a vector that has the length (magnitude) of 0. It is written as (0,0,0)
and if c is a null vector and a is a normal one, c+a=a. Unit Vector: This vector is
more about direction than magnitude. The unit vector has a magnitude of one,
always. Turning a vector into its unit vector is easy. Just divide the vector by its
magnitude. This is called the normalization of a vector. Adding Vectors Adding
vectors is very easy. All that is needed is a knowledge of trigonometry. Specifically,
the law of cosines and the law of sines. To add two vectors, simply stick them head to
tail, and
Love Is A Battlefield By Dominic Tierney
Love is a Battlefield The article written in by Dominic Tierney, an associate
professor of political science at Swarthmore, wrote an article based on the tactics of
love and war. His general idea focused on how relationships are wars of love, which
either lead to unity or distractions. Tierney s analytical approach to the relationship
both within warand loveare seen as investments of trust, which take a long time to
build and an instant to destroy. The focus of my concern is when the article speaks of
these relationships becoming states of danger for militant and partners. Either
communities no longer feel safe, which results in rationalization or withdrawal from
the battles of war and love. Through the ending of a toxic situation,

Boston Massacre Happened
What Really Happened at the Boston Massacre It was a cool night in Boston in
early march. I was passing by the customs house while a group of boys began to
yell and hollering at some British soldiers. As the boys continued the soldiers
began to fluster, so much to the point that he strikes one of the boys with his rifle.
And as soon as I can blink, I was in the middle of a crowd surrounding the soldier.
As the crowd grew, more soldiers came to his side. The crowd started to get out of
control so one of the soldiers picked up his musket and fired into the crowd and so
his allies followed suit with one of the musket shots nearly missing me. All of the
citizens run in all directions and the crowd nearly trampling children. I returned
home and later discovered that the soldiers were placed under house arrest and soon
after taken to jail and charged for the death of several people. As things heated up in
court, more and more British soldiers arrived in Boston. They did this to bring peace
to Boston but it did not do that it all. It did the exact opposite and caused even more
chaos. And as chaos spread... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Retrograde Amnesia Ever wondered how it would feel like to start from scratch in
life? How it would feel like to not remember anything or anyone? Retrograde amnesia
has caused many people to lose their memory all over the world. Retrograde
amnesia is [1] a specific type of amnesia where a person is unable to recall events
that have occurred in the past prior to the amnesia taking place. In the example of
Jason Bourne from the movie The Bourne Identity it is shown that he has had a
complete memory loss of his past which is known as pure retrograde amnesia.
Bourne suffered from wounds and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such fine motor skills are not affected by amnesia and are recalled instinctively.
Amnesia only affects the storage of memory in the brain and does not affect any
other cognitive functions. Retrograde amnesia may cause several signs and
symptoms in a person such as confusion or even false recollections. Besides these
symptoms the person is perfectly able to understand and communicate with the rest
of the world. The only problem is that the person cannot recall information from his
past but he is still able to form new memories. Amnesia has no treatment currently
but there are a few methods which help retrieve the lost memory of the patient. An
occupational therapist helps the person to learn the information which was once
lost. Other than therapy or assistance, no medications are available up till now to
treat amnesia. The intellectual spy thriller movie, The Bourne Identity is [3] about
an amnesiac (Damon) who is rescued at sea by a few people. Nearly dead, with
bullets in his back and a head injury along with a Swiss bank account number. His
injuries caused him to lose his memory of his entire life and left him with no
identity. He finds out through his bank account number that he was part of the CIA
due to a lot of money and several passports found in his bank locker. Bourne is
thought to be a rogue agent and many people including the CIA want him dead and
therefore, throughout the whole movie he
Hydraulic Buoyancy s Ability To Float In Water
Density is the degree of consistency measured by the quantity of mass divided by
the volume. Buoyancy means the ability for an object to float in water. When
talking about density we are trying to figure out how depth the object is in the
water or how much water do we need in order for the object be closely deeper to the
water. For instance, if we place a ball in the water and it has a mass of 4grams and the
water has a volume of 2, the densityof the ball placed in the water will be 2 grams
per cubic centimeter. This will mean that the ball has a unit of 2 grams per cubic
centimeter and is closely packed to the water.
Buoyancy means if the object is able to float or not. For instance, if we place a ball
on water, the ball will be able to float because it s less dense that the water itself. If
we place an object that it s denser that water then the object will sink. If we have a
boat and we placed water on the inside of the boat, the boat will sink because the
boat is going to be denser that the water. Buoyancy will help a student determine if
an object will sink or float in a liquid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an object has a volume more that the water then the object is going to float
because the object is able to sustain by itself. If an object has a volume less that the
water the object will sink. By using the density formula we can determine if an
object is going to sink or not because we are able to determine the object density
inside the water. Density is how many grams per cubic centimeters it takes for an
object to be closely pack to the water. With buoyancy we can determine if an object
is going to sink or float in
Impact Of Mexican Cuisine On National Identity
The Impact of Mexican Cuisine on National Identity Authentic, traditional
Mexican food is thought to be a product that was developed by the Mayan Indians.
Food was first hunted and gathered so that it was then cooked on ceramic pots or
iron skillets over open fires. This ritual was fundamental for the natives. They
needed to obtain their food and prepare it in this way so that they could eat. This
exemplifies the idea that the preparation of food is not only symbolic of having a
meal to eat, but also of nature being transformed into culture. Additionally, everyone
has a deep personal connection with the simple act of eating because what one
person prefers to eat might be different for another individual. As individuals, we are
each born into a culture that most likely has a cuisine different from what others
prefer or are accustomed to. All of our palates are distinctly unique. To provide an
example of the aforementioned, the Spanish invaded Mexicoin the 16th century, and
they brought along with them their own kinds of foods, with wheat holding a
particular importance. The Spaniards made attempts so that Mexicans too would
have the same liking to wheat as they did, but the reality was that Mexico had a
strong attachment to corn. And while the introduction of wheat caused corn to be
thought of as nutrient deficient, Porfirian intellectual elites later found that their
maize was as equally healthy. Food matters, especially in the context of Mexico. It

The Development of the American Constitution Essay
The Articles of Confederation were approved by all the early American states in
1781, but by 1787, it was apparent that the Articles were insufficient for the young
nation to operate on. A convention was formed with the priority job being to revise
the Articles of Confederation; however, they only concluded that an entire new
structure was needed to fulfill the demands of the growing country. The Constitution
was then born. The Constitution provided the structure of government and power that
was needed to achieve a strong union. This structure saved the American republic
from collapse while under the Articles of Confederation.

The government must be able to prevent a tyranny of the majority, prevent a tyranny
of the minority, have sufficient powers to create conditions for both short and long
term economic development, and formulate and conduct a more effective foreign
policy. It was not long, however, before core conflicts emerged between different
interest groups. Bankers and debtors disagreed; there was economic competition
between states, along with conflicts over western land ownership. Despite the
enormous gap between advocates of the differing approaches, a number of important
compromises were worked out. For instance, the Commerce Compromise which
regulated trade between states and the Great Compromise which dealt with
representation for the states in Congress.
The delegates also divided power within national government. They created three
branches: the legislative, the executive, and the judicial. During this process, there
was considerable disagreement about the powers of the executive, or presidential,
branch. This branch of the government was given a great deal of power, and the
Articles of Confederation had had no executive branch. However, much less attention
was given to the judiciary. There was no mention of judicial review at this time.
While the changes made the government at this time were more than sufficient, they
were still not perfect. But what is a perfect government? Does it even exist in our

In the story A Rose for Emily, she just did not want to be alone. Emily and Phoenix
both accomplished their goals, Emily was not left alone and Phoenix got her
medicine for her grandchild. The theme of both stories are different. Emily doesn t
want to go anywhere, she just wants to sit at home and have people visit. Phoenix s
story take place during her journey on the Natchez Trace and her story unfolds as
she is out and about traveling to get medicine for her grandchild. Phoenix was very

because you could not tell what they were thinking. You cannot tell what Phoenix
was thinking when she was walking through the trail, when she tripped or when she

You could immediately tell Emily was crazy when she killed her boyfriend and slept

Building The Resource Resilience Of Communities Within
The...
As the world transits from the linear economy which is no longer sustainable in
view of the limitations posed by the cost implications of acquiring untapped
resources, declining quantity of resources or the environmental challenges it
poses, to the circular economy, opportunities will be created for building the
resource resilience of communities in the UK (Green Alliance, 2013). Similarly,
there is a growing price volatility associated with obtaining raw materials to support
industrial production, hence the rising product costs and its attendant increases in
the cost of living within producer nations globally (Morgan, 2014). Although a
growing number of developing countries are gradually shifting their focus from the
export of resources, the export of primary commodities to the developed
economies still accounts for more than 30 percent of exports. Data on the share of
exports in GDP indicates that for developing countries, exports have been growing
in relative importance to production for domestic consumption: exports as a share
of GDP rose from 24 percent in 1995 to 37 percent in 2008 (UNDP, 2011; ITC,
2012). Natural resources, and the related government spending they financed,
generated 32 percent of Africa s GDP growth from 2000 through 2008 (McKinsey
Global Institute, 2010) indicating the significance of resource sales on revenue
generated (ITC, 2012). The global consumption patterns evaluated by (SERI;

Types Of Techniques Used By Different Learners
Introduction:
Study groups types are different types of techniques used by different learners, both
in and out of school that are in place to maximize the results of the students. These
techniques relate to the character of the learner and thus making studying easier and
more enjoyable. There are in total seventy one learning styles, but four are identified
at school level: visual, auditory, kinaesthetic and read and write.
After taking the Learning style assessment task, I was placed in the auditory learning
style, I was unsure about this style of learning because I have not learnt in auditory
ways throughout my learning career, but as I read through the perks that being an
auditory learner has, and the characteristics that are associated with it, it made me
query my current style of learning.
Auditory learning:
The learning style assessment task asks a total of 20 questions on how you would
react to everyday situations and thus determines your character placing you in a
learning style. Realising that the results are based off character, I wanted to find out
the characteristics of an auditory learner and thus find the characteristics of myself.
Wikipedia provided a list of the characteristics, I manipulated this list to the
characteristics that appeal to me:
Is not afraid to speak in class.
Likes oral reports.
Follows spoken directions well.
Enjoys acting, being on stage.
Is able to memorize lines for a skit easily.
After seeing the list provided I was able
Women in the Western Genre Essay
Ever since the early 20th century, there had been several attempts and
experimentation in creating a new genre of cinema known as the Western. The
first well known Western movie The Great Train Robbery (1903), while not
necessarily being the first ever Western, it is by both film historians and theorists

One other Westernfilm that comes to mind when it comes to the role and treatment
of women (Shulman ix) is The Virginian, where Molly, an Eastern schoolteacher
who comes to Wyoming from a good but rather needy Vermont family faces several
conflicts one all Westerns are typically all too familiar with being the inevitable
conflict of the East and West, but it seems as though throughout their interactions
with one another it serves as more of a guise for a contest between men and women
when Molly proceeds to educate the Virginian, then in turn educating and
increasingly dominating her thus resulting in a genteel version of the nineteenth
century war between the sexes (Shulman ix), and what could also be stated as a
masculine feminine contest about responsibility and marriage (Shulman xxvii)

the course of the film, Molly is still naГЇve when it comes to the attempted newly

the lynching, but as The Virginian himself explained, despite how greatly it upsets

objections, as his three arguments regarding the West and law serve to persuade Molly

The Lusitania s sinking created widespread public outrage and was the decisive

Macbeth and His Downfall
Discuss Macbeth s Ruin...
People and decisions can greatly affect the outcome of a person s life determining
whether the outcome will be successful or disastrous. In Shakespeare s Macbeth,
there are two factors that contributed to Macbeth s ruin. One of them being more to
blame: The influential character of Lady Macbeth displaying temptation towards
Macbeth, or Macbeth s own ambitious and insecure nature. There are questions
whether Macbeth s downfall might have displayed more for his own blame. In closer
examination, it will be come apparent that Macbeth is more to blame for his
downfall. By first examining the influential acts of Lady Macbeth that made Macbeth
commit the murder to kill Duncan, and contrasting these with the ambitious ... Show

Her influence is completely self motivated and originated in her own mind. She takes
advantage of Macbeth s original motivation, his ambition, and uses that to decide
what he must do.
Although Lady Macbeth s influential character contributed to Macbeth s ruin, it
was Macbeths ambitious and insecure nature that was more to blame for his
downfall. After he was named King, Macbeth s misery and eventual downfall is
caused by his own insecurities and misguided determination to take control of his
future. The first of the two acts which lead to his downfall was the murder of
Banquo. The prophecy of the witches reveal that Banquo s children will become
kings. This leads to Macbeth s arrangement of Banquo s death, He hath a wisdom
that doth guide his valour/ To act in safety. There is none but he/ Whose being I do

College Debt And Student Completion And Attendance

College Debt and Student Completion and Attendance In mid 2010 higher education
debt surpassed credit card debt at $830 billon dollars(Clemmitt 877 900). Debt has
become an increasing problem for students who want to attend college. As more
students try to further their education, tuition rises and so does the amount of loans
taken out each year. According to Belkin, Students attending public four year
institutions this academic year are paying an average of $12,620, up $220 from last
year, for tuition, room and board, meaning that tuition is only growing not decreasing
from previous years(Belkin n.p.). Many people debate over whether they should
attend college and be in debt or if they should get a job somewhere that allows them
to live a comfortable life debt free. Two thirds of college graduates have to take out
loans in order to get through college(Dwyer, McCloud, Hodson 1133 1155). Many
people question, Does rising college debt limit who attends and completes college?
, while many people have different opinions on this particular subject, I believe that
it depends on the student and their situation if college debt limits who attends and
completes college because it depends on their financial stability, it depends on if
they are borrowing the right amount and it depends on if their degree provides them
with the means to pay back their loans, however, many people would disagree with

Management Position Of A Nonprofit Organization
In the near future, I can imagine myself in a management position of a nonprofit
organization as the Director of Programs. This role is responsible for the operational
success of the organization ensuring ideal team management and development,
program delivery, and quality control and evaluation. Additionally, this title will
manage a growing staff as well as manage relationships in the community. Taking on
such a task requires leadership skills in addition to establishing standards of
performance across all programs. It is necessary to implement plans and goals in
accordance with the mission statement. Drucker states, a mission statement has to be
operational, otherwise it s just good intentions (Drucker, Chapter 1). The primary
focus of the mission statement is to carry out what the organization really wants to
do. My task is to try and convert this mission statement into specifics so that the
company stays in line with its mission statement for desired results. Drucker believes
that every mission statement must include three things: opportunities, competence,
and commitment (Drucker, Chapter 1). It is my duty to make sure that the mission
statement reflects all three things or else the company will lose sight of its ultimate
goal and purpose. In my managementrole, I must clearly define what success is for
the organization. By doing this, I will be able to retain and attract quality employees.

International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), are meant to be global

This weakened their effectiveness as universal treaties. The political arm wrestling
between the US and Soviet Union also shows why building an overlapping consensus
was so difficult during the cold war.
Additionally, many African and Asian countries were under Western colonial rule
during the initial drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Donnelly
8). This left many voices unheard. As a result, documents such as the Cairo
Declaration on Human Rights in Islam and the Banjul Charter have been drafted and
signed by Islamic and African nations, respectively.
The Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam was signed by the Organization of
the Islamic Conference on August 5th, 1990. In the preamble it states a wish to
quot;protect man from exploitation and persecution, and to affirm his freedom and
right to a dignified life in accordance with the Islamic Shari ah. quot; Article One of
the Cairo Declaration states that quot; All human beings form one family whose
members are united by submission to God and descent from Adam. quot; These
religious references to the Shari ah, God, and Adam are all aspects of the Islamic
viewpoint that are obviously not in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
because in the UDHR s attempts at universality it can not embrace one religion
openly.
Some articles in the Cairo Declaration could be interpreted at odds with the Universal

Comparing Chopin s The Interlopers And Story Of An Hour
When you go to compare and contrast, the first items you look for would probably
be the obvious, such as the plot. The Interlopers and Story of an Hour (Saki and
Kate Chopin, respectively) are not easily comparable in their plot, settings or
subjects; however, the devices and some main parts are the same. There are
situational ironies in both. In The Interlopers, they are fighting with each other and
you expect one to die, then the story twists, and they become friends. Then the story
twists again, and the ending makes it seem like they both die. No, said Ulrich with a

both, but it is a bigger part of the story in The Interlopers. In The Interlopers, a tree
falls during a storm and pinions the two main characters to the ground. A fierce
shriek of the storm had been answered by a splitting crash over their heads, and ere
they could leap aside, a mass of falling beech tree had thundered down on them. 3
This causes them to become friends, but also causes their deaths. In Story of an
Hour, the main character observes the trees through the window, but not much else is

Story of an Hour. In Story of an Hour, the main character s family comes to comfort
her, after her husbands tragic supposed death. She lets them console her, but then she

of grief had spent itself she went away to her room alone. She would have no one

Academic Reflection
Throughout my academic career, I have always been aware of that writing is one
of my greatest weaknesses. But, this semester English 120 class has helped me gain
more knowledge and acquire skills that would improve my writing significantly over
the course. I have learned different techniques such as how to annotated lengthy
papers, how to cite sources in MLA format. I can carry over all tools I have learned
in this course and re purpose them for intensive writingclasses I take in the future.
Every paperI composed throughout the course was a learning experience and
fostered me to grow as an academic writer. And I was also given good sources that
helped me get along the way. Looking back of my writing process, my first piece of
writing in this semester is the pre semester reading response. I did the best that I
could, but now I realize there are always innumerably ways to improve it. When
planted my paper, I did not included author s counter argumentin it. By reading They
Say I Say , Graff emphasizes the importance of anticipate a naysayer in the text. I
realized that including a counter arguments in writing can definitely improved my
work and helped me better understood the text. I also edited my introduction to
make it less wordy and articulates my arguments with specific details. The most
challenge assignment was the research paper. It is not simply writing a paper, we
need to do extensive researches around the topic we choose. For the first draft of
my researchers paper, I tended to expresses all of my thoughts and integrating
sources I found without organized it in a coherent way, which make it hard for
readers to follow. For example: I jumped right in into talking about Obamacare, but
I didn t argued how it connects to my argument. After receiving feedbacks from the
professor, I tried to make it more consistently and provide appropriate informations so
the readers wouldn t get confused while reading. And I failed to provide specific
details in my text, because details can always strengthen my argument and increase
credibility of my work. Revision plays a big role in my writing process. No papers is
ever perfect, the feedbacks I received from the professor and peer reviews helps me

The American Revolution, A Slave, And The Slaves
A slave is a human being that is classed as property and is under the control of
another. The system of slavery came about as a result of the need for a labor force to
help maintain the booming trade system that started in the Americas and the
Caribbean. This led to Africans being kidnapped from their homeland and then
shipped across the Atlantic to the Americasto provide the needed labor. During and
after the fight for the Independence of America there was divide within the nation as
to what to do about the matter of slavery. There were many who were quite happy
with the current situation while there were others who felt it needed to end. With this
divide came the abolition movement that started in 1830s. The American Revolution
brought the emancipation of America from under British control. This all started as
result of the American colonists feeling that they were being unjustly treated and not
being seen as equals by the British Parliament. The American Revolution was fought
on the premise of equal rights for all. It was an eye opener to the hypocrisy that was
taking place in America. This showed a situation where the Americans would not
tolerate being taxed without representation in Parliament but yet were perfectly fine
subjecting another human being to hard labor with no pay and the absolute removal
of their free will because of their skin color. On this basis the system needed to end.
The Americans had no right to treat fellow human being in such a deplorable

Why Should The Citizen Should Not Be Allowed In The
Military
In the United States, we have the freedom of speech, but sometimes we do not
make the best decisions. Saying no to an armed force is not a good decision and I
believe that it is not fair. Backing out when your country needs you the most does not
show good citizenship. You should be willing to protect your country at all times. If
the militaryneeds you then you should show pride in the United Statesof America,
your home, and help protect it and all its glory, and of course, help make it a better
place. Refusing to serve the armed forces should not even be allowed because the
citizen already took the oath, and they are healthy enough to serve.
The first reason as to why it should not be allowed is because they took an oath.
Once a citizen pledges into a military service they can not just leave when their
help is needed. Once they said that pledge of allegiance to serve, protect, and fight
for their country it is required for them to fulfill their duties and do what the armed
forces are asking you to do. Leaving without permission and failure to report for duty

The Issue Of Orphan Drugs
Orphan drugs are drugs that treat rare diseases that are life threatening, seriously
debilitating, or cause serious and chronic conditions that affects only a relatively
small number of patients.
Rare or orphan diseases in Canada are those which affect less than 5 in 10, 000
people. About 6,000 to 8,000 rare diseases have been identified worldwide. Most
(~80%) are genetic disorders and the remainder are from either viral or bacterial
infections or are caused by environmental factors.
orphan drugs A patient with a rare disease target for orphan drugs
Over half begin early in childhood and are degenerative and life threatening. These
diseases are called orphans because the number of people affected is so small that
research on treatment would not be profitable for the pharmaceutical industry. The
cost of developing an orphan drug is the same as for other pharmaceuticals. This is
why incentives were developed to encourage vital and necessary orphan drugs
research.
Canada and Orphan Drugs Policy
Canada adopted an Orphan Drug policy on October 3, 2012. This made it the last
developed country to adopt an orphan drug policy. In July 2011 the orphan drug

Health Canada will launch a regulatory framework for orphan drugs soon.

Chemical Castration for Repeat Sex Offenders Essay
Chemical Castration for Repeat Sex Offenders
Child molestation and sexual assault is an ever growing problem in the United
States today, but an even bigger problem is that these pedophiles are being released
after only serving as little as one quarter of their sentence. In California alone (at the
time the bill was first passed), there was an estimated 680 individuals on parole for
molestation and other sexual assaults including sodomy by force with a victim under

Chemical castration is a reversible treatment for those with urges to commit sex
crimes, as well as those who have had a history of convicted sex crimes. This drug
treatment helps to lower sex drives and decrease aggressive and violent tendencies.
There are side effects to this drug just as there are for every other medicine on the
market. Although it was not created for men, they suffer no extra side effects than
the women. Chemical castration is an exceptional alternative to prison time or it
works as a stepping block for integration back into society. It is a more cost
effective alternative as well as being more efficient in correcting the problem as
opposed to locking it up. With strict guidelines and continual use it can be the most
effective course of action for sexual offenders today.
Monitored chemical castration should be the only alternative to full sentence prison
time for repeat sex offenders, and child molesters, unless he voluntarily requests

Chemical castration in short, is the suppression of sex drive through injections of anti

The Christmas Holiday From The Federal Calendar
Omitting the Christmas Holiday from the Federal Calendar
The establishment of a legal holiday is best defined as a day where there are no
courts, labor, and is a day of joy and rest. While there should be a separation of
church and state, Christmas is considered a legal holiday and one needs to question
the validity of establishing this day as a legal holiday when one looks at the concept
of separation of church and state and considering the diversity we face in today s
modern society.
Christmas in in fact defined as a Holyday. This should not be considered a legal
holiday due to the fact that it is Christian based and we do not have legal holidays
that recognize other religions. The United States does not have a recognized national
religion, so Christmas should be separated from legally recognized holidays.
In the American Law Register the opening paragraph gives an interesting point of
view on this matter. Notwithstanding the distinction drawn by the great American
Lexicographer, between a holiday and a holy day, where by the latter should be
used as the proper term for a religious festival, while the former should rather
denote a day of exemption for labor and of amusement, joy and gaiety, the common

3 Pick I Loved Analysis
The Hot List Three Picks I Loved Three Picks I Hated Picks I Loved 1. Mario
Hezonja to the Magic (5th Overall) I absolutely love this pick by Orlando. Every
video I ve watched and every scouting report I ve read, has completely sold me on
Hezonja as a legit NBA pro. He has an NBA like domineer. He s good and he
knows it. He has Kobe like confidence, in that he isn t afraid to miss a big shot.
When he gets hot, Hezonja is a lights out shooter. He attacks the rim relentlessly
and isn t afraid of contact. He ll go right at an opposing defender without fear of
being thrown to the ground. The Magic needed a wing player who could score and
defend. They got that with Hezonja. He is a perfect fit and is a great replacement for
Tobias Harris.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his introductory press conference, Okafor s body language said a lot about
his mindset. He didn t seem excited or enthusiastic about the idea of playing for the
76ers. In fact, at the end of the presser he dropped his jersey. He didn t place it on
the table like his fellow rookie teammates; nope he flat out dropped it. 2. Frank
Kaminsky to the Hornets (9th Overall) Four first round picks and two second
round picks The Hornets think Frank Kaminsky is worth more than that. I was
shocked when I heard this. How can a team pass up four first round picks for Frank
Kaminsky? Not only did they pass up the picks, but also if they had taken the
trade, they would have moved down to pick 16 and Kaminsky likely still would
have been on the draft board. I am still baffled by the Hornets decision to reject that
trade. Not only do I think the organization made a bad move by rejecting the trade,
but also I think, Kaminsky will be a role player at best in the NBA. He ll stick around
for a while because he s a seven footer who can hit a mid range shot. He is a below
average post player and he s a liability on defense. He shies away from contact and
according to some scouts is Hard to get along with . Charlotte needed a big man, but
Kaminsky might have been available at 16, but if he weren t, there would have been
similar if not better options to
Synthesis Of Hexane Lab Report
The purpose of this lab is to gain a greater understanding of the reactions between
aldehydes and amines and of their usefulness in synthesis and biology. The lab is
divided into 3 steps, the first step is imine formation, second step is reduction of
the imine, and the last step is acylation of the imine. The imine formed is a primary
imine, the first two steps of the lab make up reductive amination1. The formation
of the imine is carried out by adding 0.213 grams of ortho vallin, the aldehyde, and
.150 grams of para toluidine. The solids were grinded until homogenous, one layer
is formed. The crystals went from brown to orange liquid layer. The bi product of
imine formation is water, and OH gets protonated and come off during the reaction.
Recrystallization is done to get rid of water. Hexane is used as the recrystallization
solventbecause it is non polar, like the imine. The mass is 0.3365 grams and the
percent yield is 99.6%. There was some product lost on the stirring rod. The IR
showed a peak at 2942.40 indicating a methyl group and a peak at 1593.67 and

Sodium borohydride is a reducing agent that reduces double bonds. The solution
went from orange then to a cloudy white precipitate. The bright orange in the first
step is because of imine formation. Lack of colour, after the addition of NaBH4,
shows imine is no longer there it has been reduced. That amine is now formed
evident by the white precipitate. Sodium Borohydride is highly reactive, so it needs a
protic solvent like ethanol to help stabilize. This is why ethanol is added before the
sodium borohydride. The formation of imine happens at acidic conditions and
ethanol makes sure the solution does not get to acidic otherwise amine is not
formed. Sodium borohydride is waited to be added, because if added before the
imine is formed it reduces the intermediate and not the imine

Essay Great Gatsby

  • 1. Essay Great Gatsby Writing an essay on the topic of "The Great Gatsby" can be both challenging and rewarding. The complexity lies not only in the intricate narrative and nuanced characters created by F. Scott Fitzgerald but also in the layers of symbolism and themes embedded in the novel. Crafting an insightful essay requires a deep understanding of the characters, their motivations, and the historical context in which the story unfolds. One of the difficulties stems from the need to analyze the symbolism woven throughout the narrative. The green light, the Valley of Ashes, and the extravagant parties all hold deeper meanings that contribute to the novel's overall message. Unraveling these symbols requires careful consideration and interpretation, making it a task that demands both critical thinking and literary analysis skills. Furthermore, exploring the complex relationships between characters like Jay Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan, and Tom Buchanan adds another layer of difficulty. Navigating the intricacies of love, wealth, and social class in the Roaring Twenties requires a thoughtful examination of character dynamics and motivations. The thematic aspects of "The Great Gatsby" also present a challenge. Delving into themes such as the American Dream, the corruption of wealth, and the illusion of happiness requires a keen awareness of the broader socio-cultural context of the 1920s. In conclusion, while writing an essay on "The Great Gatsby" demands a careful dissection of Fitzgerald's prose and the themes he explores, it is also an opportunity to engage deeply with a classic work of literature. However, for those who find themselves overwhelmed, it's worth noting that assistance is available. Similar essays and more comprehensive academic support can be ordered on platforms like HelpWriting.net, providing a valuable resource for those seeking additional guidance in their literary analyses. • 2. Why College Is A Successful Life With A Career As of recently, the validity of college has been questioned, is it really necessary to have a college education to be successful? In the past, education was the key to a successful life with a career. However, as of recently, some people don t even have to earn the much coveted bachelor s degree to make as much money as a person that went to school to earn such degree. So the question is what is the purpose of college? Is it really worth all the effort, time, sweat, and tears? Even though times have changed and the reason for going to college has taken a financial turn. I m a firm believer that college certainly has its purpose aside from financial. The person that pushed me to go to college was my mother. In an informal interview I asked her what she thought on the purpose of college. She immediately told me that it was a vital element for me to have a successful future and life (Aguilar). In a poll performed by pewsocialtrends.com Nearly every parent surveyed (94%) says they expect their child to attend college... ( Is College Worth It? ) For some time the purpose of higher education has been debated. On one side people insist that college is sort of a coming to age rite where student could learn and grow in many ways. According to the survey performed by Pew research, Thirty nine percent of people believe that college, main purpose is to open your senses and mind to new things and new ideas ( Purpose of College Education ). From personal experience, I could say
  • 3. Oil Drilling and Pollution One way that drilling for oil destroys animals homes is that fossil fuels create carbon dioxide, and then that burned carbon dioxide goes into the atmosphere and then Global Warming is starting to melt the ice caps that animals live on. Also, drilling the new wells that we have to drill to get the oil, that makes the amount of land for the animals to make homes go down, and when the land amount goes down so does the length of the animals, like the polar bear, go down. The average length of the polar bears mating season is about from the months March until May. Where they want to reproduce is normally around where seals like to be. But then When Global Warming gets more and more threatening, they have nowhere to go now. Males tend to be very aggressive during the mating period, so that kills off the population even more. When the female gets pregnant, she gains at least 44o pounds because once the ice breaks, she won t be able to hunt for food. Another reason is that if we happen to have an oil spill, that will devastate all the animals in the Arctic. For example, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill was created because when the BP operated rig Macondo Prospect exploded. The area in the Gulf that was affected by the spill was eight thousand five hundred miles, to nine thousand, four hundred and twenty one miles in 2010. But, the use of technology has really helped the oil and gas industry because it has stopped useless drilling. An example of this would be the

  • 5. Report Pl Toyota Supply Chain Topic: Report plan: Toyota Supply Chain Name: Course: Instructor s Name: Date: The early twentieth century was dominated with several multibillion companies. Some of these companies included the three major motor companies often named as the (Big 3). These were the General Motor, Chrysler and Ford. Toyota came up and replaced Chrysler and became the world number two after knocking out Ford in the year 2003. Since the year 2008, Toyota has remained on the world charts as the largest automaker in the world. Why Toyota? There are several reasons why Toyota was chosen for this report. Some of them include the fact that Toyota managed to experience a significant growth in its global sales not only boosting its profits but pushing it to the top of the automobile industry. The other key issues that also became known include the design of Toyota global production and their distribution network. Most people don t notice it, they have to look closer to find out what it is really made of. A component in math that is very prominent in science is the vector. What is a vector? A vector is a geometric object that has both a magnitude and a direction. A good example of a vector is wind. 30 MPH north. It has both magnitude,(in this case speed) and direction. Vectors have specific properties that make them very useful in real life applications. Through the use of these special objects, many advancements in the fields of math and science are available. The work for the determinant is below: The final vector is a vector that is orthogonal to the other two. This is a good representation of what it would look like: The cross product is necessary to find the amount of torque or work needed or used. Other Vectors Null Vector: The null vector is a vector that has the length (magnitude) of 0. It is written as (0,0,0) and if c is a null vector and a is a normal one, c+a=a. Unit Vector: This vector is more about direction than magnitude. The unit vector has a magnitude of one, always. Turning a vector into its unit vector is easy. Just divide the vector by its magnitude. This is called the normalization of a vector. Adding Vectors Adding vectors is very easy. All that is needed is a knowledge of trigonometry. • 15. Hydraulic Buoyancy s Ability To Float In Water Density is the degree of consistency measured by the quantity of mass divided by the volume. Buoyancy means the ability for an object to float in water. When talking about density we are trying to figure out how depth the object is in the water or how much water do we need in order for the object be closely deeper to the water. For instance, if we place a ball in the water and it has a mass of 4grams and the water has a volume of 2, the densityof the ball placed in the water will be 2 grams per cubic centimeter. This will mean that the ball has a unit of 2 grams per cubic centimeter and is closely packed to the water. Buoyancy means if the object is able to float or not. For instance, if we place a ball on water, the ball will be able to float because it s less dense that the water itself. If we place an object that it s denser that water then the object will sink. If we have a boat and we placed water on the inside of the boat, the boat will sink because the boat is going to be denser that the water. Buoyancy will help a student determine if an object will sink or float in a liquid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 16. Impact Of Mexican Cuisine On National Identity The Impact of Mexican Cuisine on National Identity Authentic, traditional Mexican food is thought to be a product that was developed by the Mayan Indians. Food was first hunted and gathered so that it was then cooked on ceramic pots or iron skillets over open fires. This ritual was fundamental for the natives. They needed to obtain their food and prepare it in this way so that they could eat. This exemplifies the idea that the preparation of food is not only symbolic of having a meal to eat, but also of nature being transformed into culture. Additionally, everyone has a deep personal connection with the simple act of eating because what one person prefers to eat might be different for another individual. As individuals, we are each born into a culture that most likely has a cuisine different from what others prefer or are accustomed to. All of our palates are distinctly unique. To provide an example of the aforementioned, the Spanish invaded Mexicoin the 16th century, and they brought along with them their own kinds of foods, with wheat holding a particular importance. The Spaniards made attempts so that Mexicans too would have the same liking to wheat as they did, but the reality was that Mexico had a strong attachment to corn. And while the introduction of wheat caused corn to be thought of as nutrient deficient, Porfirian intellectual elites later found that their maize was as equally healthy. Similarly, there is a growing price volatility associated with obtaining raw materials to support industrial production, hence the rising product costs and its attendant increases in the cost of living within producer nations globally (Morgan, 2014). Although a growing number of developing countries are gradually shifting their focus from the export of resources, the export of primary commodities to the developed economies still accounts for more than 30 percent of exports. Many people question, Does rising college debt limit who attends and completes college? , while many people have different opinions on this particular subject, I believe that it depends on the student and their situation if college debt limits who attends and completes college because it depends on their financial stability, it depends on if they are borrowing the right amount and it depends on if their degree provides them with the means to pay back their loans, however, many people would disagree with me and say that yes, college

Additionally, this title will manage a growing staff as well as manage relationships in the community. Taking on such a task requires leadership skills in addition to establishing standards of performance across all programs. It is necessary to implement plans and goals in accordance with the mission statement. Drucker states, a mission statement has to be operational, otherwise it s just good intentions (Drucker, Chapter 1). The primary focus of the mission statement is to carry out what the organization really wants to do. My task is to try and convert this mission statement into specifics so that the company stays in line with its mission statement for desired results. Drucker believes that every mission statement must include three things: opportunities, competence, and commitment (Drucker, Chapter 1). It is my duty to make sure that the mission statement reflects all three things or else the company will lose sight of its ultimate goal and purpose. In my managementrole, I must clearly define what success is for the organization. By doing this, I will be able to retain and attract quality employees. Having all departments know what the mission statement entails can help

The political arm wrestling between the US and Soviet Union also shows why building an overlapping consensus was so difficult during the cold war. Additionally, many African and Asian countries were under Western colonial rule during the initial drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Donnelly 8). This left many voices unheard. As a result, documents such as the Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam and the Banjul Charter have been drafted and signed by Islamic and African nations, respectively. The Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam was signed by the Organization of the Islamic Conference on August 5th, 1990. In the preamble it states a wish to quot;protect man from exploitation and persecution, and to affirm his freedom and right to a dignified life in accordance with the Islamic Shari ah. quot; Article One of the Cairo Declaration states that quot; All human beings form one family whose members are united by submission to God and descent from Adam. quot; These religious references to the Shari ah, God, and Adam are all aspects of the Islamic viewpoint that are obviously not in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights because in the UDHR s attempts at universality it can not embrace one religion openly. Some articles in the Cairo Declaration could be interpreted at odds with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Article 6a

There are situational ironies in both. In The Interlopers, they are fighting with each other and you expect one to die, then the story twists, and they become friends. Then the story twists again, and the ending makes it seem like they both die. No, said Ulrich with a laugh, the idiotic chattering laugh of a man unstrung with hideous fear. A fierce shriek of the storm had been answered by a splitting crash over their heads, and ere they could leap aside, a mass of falling beech tree had thundered down on them. 3 This causes them to become friends, but also causes their deaths. In Story of an Hour, the main character observes the trees through the window, but not much else is said about them. Both stories mention families, although family is most important in Story of an Hour. In Story of an Hour, the main character s family comes to comfort her, after her husbands tragic supposed death. She lets them console her, but then she doesn t want them near, and runs to her room to have some time to herself. She wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister s arms. When the storm of grief had spent itself she went away to her room alone. She would have no one follow her.

But, this semester English 120 class has helped me gain more knowledge and acquire skills that would improve my writing significantly over the course. I have learned different techniques such as how to annotated lengthy papers, how to cite sources in MLA format. By reading They Say I Say , Graff emphasizes the importance of anticipate a naysayer in the text. I realized that including a counter arguments in writing can definitely improved my work and helped me better understood the text. I also edited my introduction to make it less wordy and articulates my arguments with specific details. The most challenge assignment was the research paper. It is not simply writing a paper, we need to do extensive researches around the topic we choose. For the first draft of my researchers paper, I tended to expresses all of my thoughts and integrating sources I found without organized it in a coherent way, which make it hard for readers to follow. For example: I jumped right in into talking about Obamacare, but I didn t argued how it connects to my argument. After receiving feedbacks from the professor, I tried to make it more consistently and provide appropriate informations so the readers wouldn t get confused while reading. And I failed to provide specific details in my text, because details can always strengthen my argument and increase credibility of my work. Revision plays a big role in my writing process. • 31. The American Revolution, A Slave, And The Slaves A slave is a human being that is classed as property and is under the control of another. The system of slavery came about as a result of the need for a labor force to help maintain the booming trade system that started in the Americas and the Caribbean. This led to Africans being kidnapped from their homeland and then shipped across the Atlantic to the Americasto provide the needed labor. During and after the fight for the Independence of America there was divide within the nation as to what to do about the matter of slavery. There were many who were quite happy with the current situation while there were others who felt it needed to end. With this divide came the abolition movement that started in 1830s. The American Revolution brought the emancipation of America from under British control. This all started as result of the American colonists feeling that they were being unjustly treated and not being seen as equals by the British Parliament. The American Revolution was fought on the premise of equal rights for all. It was an eye opener to the hypocrisy that was taking place in America. This showed a situation where the Americans would not tolerate being taxed without representation in Parliament but yet were perfectly fine subjecting another human being to hard labor with no pay and the absolute removal of their free will because of their skin color. On this basis the system needed to end. The Americans had no right to treat fellow human being in such a deplorable

The first reason as to why it should not be allowed is because they took an oath. Once a citizen pledges into a military service they can not just leave when their help is needed. Once they said that pledge of allegiance to serve, protect, and fight for their country it is required for them to fulfill their duties and do what the armed forces are asking you to do. The Christmas Holiday From The Federal Calendar Omitting the Christmas Holiday from the Federal Calendar The establishment of a legal holiday is best defined as a day where there are no courts, labor, and is a day of joy and rest. While there should be a separation of church and state, Christmas is considered a legal holiday and one needs to question the validity of establishing this day as a legal holiday when one looks at the concept of separation of church and state and considering the diversity we face in today s modern society. Christmas in in fact defined as a Holyday. This should not be considered a legal holiday due to the fact that it is Christian based and we do not have legal holidays that recognize other religions. The United States does not have a recognized national religion, so Christmas should be separated from legally recognized holidays. In the American Law Register the opening paragraph gives an interesting point of view on this matter. Notwithstanding the distinction drawn by the great American Lexicographer, between a holiday and a holy day, where by the latter should be used as the proper term for a religious festival, while the former should rather denote a day of exemption for labor and of amusement, joy and gaiety, the common impression seems to liken both the holiday and the holyday to the great weekly day of rest and legal inaction? Sodium borohydride is a reducing agent that reduces double bonds. The solution went from orange then to a cloudy white precipitate. The bright orange in the first step is because of imine formation. Lack of colour, after the addition of NaBH4, shows imine is no longer there it has been reduced. That amine is now formed evident by the white precipitate. Sodium Borohydride is highly reactive, so it needs a protic solvent like ethanol to help stabilize. This is why ethanol is added before the sodium borohydride. The formation of imine happens at acidic conditions and ethanol makes sure the solution does not get to acidic otherwise amine is not formed. Sodium borohydride is waited to be added, because if added before the imine is formed it reduces the intermediate and not the imine
