Things Fall Apart Flaws
One of the major flaws in society is the lack of people with strong convictions. While Things Fall
Apart, by Chinua Abeche, is a novel revealing how the European invasion ultimately leads to the
destruction of the African society, Chinua demonstrates an underlying message about how some
internal flaws also lead to a person s or society s demise. The way people begin to follow the
ways of the Christians and the lack of action regarding the missionary invasions are key factors
in the ruin of the Ibo society. As a whole, the Ibo people do not stand on a clear conviction; thus
they fall for another belief. A major cause of the collapse of Okonkwo s society is the scarcity of
attempts to stop the missionary invasion. The arrival of the Europeans reveals the internal societal
flaws of vulnerability and weakness of the Africans. It is evident that the sense of unity within the

Nwoye, along with the others that followed, are major causes of the Ibo ruin. If the entire Ibo
society stood as one to support and protect their way of life, it is possible that they would not
have given into the European principles. As the invasion of the missionaries is a leading cause
of the demise of the Ibo society, it is not the solitary reason for their ill fate. The internal flaws in
Umuofia are what allow the missionaries to be successful in their intrusion. The Ibo people do
not stand up against the white men, so the Ibo fall for their demands. When Okonkwo makes
valiant proclamations advising his people to defeat the missionaries and drive them away,
Obierika responds: It is already too late...Our own men and our sons have joined the ranks of the
stranger. They have joined his religion and they help to uphold his government. If we should try to
drive out the white men in Umofia we should find it easy. There are only two of them. But what of

Nipah Virus Research Paper
For the Nipah Virus, fruit bats of the Pteropus genus have been identified as the natural reservoir.
The virus has been isolated in many bodily locations, such as the brain and spinal fluid, and from
environmental prototypes, like bat urine and partially eaten fruit, such as found in cases of
Malaysia. Antibodies of the Nipah virushave been found in the sera of fruit bats, which have been
collected in India, Indonesia, and many others such as Madagascar and Ghana. The presence of
these antibodies indicate that goats, horses, and some cats and dogs have been reported as
infected, with a history of exposure to infected pigs in Malaysia. This wide range of locations
where NiV has been discovered represents its wide geographic distribution. While... Show more

252. These reported outbreaks have a strong seasonal pattern and a limited geographical range ,
with a fatality rate ranging from 40 70%...although it has been as high as 100% in some
outbreaks (World Health, p.3). As NiV was first recognized in an outbreak of 276 cases in
Malaysia and Singapore from September 1998 to May 1999, most of the patients documented were
noted to have had some contact with infected pigs. Autopsy findings showed diffused vasculitis
within the central nervous system, including immunostaining of endothelial cells with anti Nipah
virus hyper immune serum. Of the patients primarily with encephalitis; 39% died (Hughes
Wilson, 2009, p.1). NiV was initially isolated from urine specimens collected from P.

Pteropus bats were conducted in order to identify the existence of the NiV virus within the
mammals; however, it does not cause illness in the bats. While over fifty species of Pteropus bats

Cultural Experience
Describe
In preparation for this reflection, I began by thinking about what cultural event I would most like
to attend, what would work for the assignment and what would also benefit me in my personal
life by actually forcing me out of my comfort zone to experience things I never have before.
Because Christianity is such a huge part of my life I immediately thought I would want to do
something based on another religion since I ve never really gone out of my religious comfort
zone, but for this assignment I chose to go to a gay bar. The reason I chose to do this was because I
have been raised as a Christian, I grew up in a very conservative town and while I ... Show more

I think it would have a been a very different experience if we had gone when we were 21 and
could drink at the bar, I think it would have changed the experience a little bit. We arrived at the
bar at a little bit after 10 which is when the dance floor opened and stayed until around 1 in the
morning.
Examine
The part of this experience that was the most compelling to me was almost the sense of
community that I felt was just there between the gay community. Like there were a lot of groups
of people there that night that didn t even know each other, but you would never guess that by
the way they acted like they had been friends for years. Even towards me and my roommate who
they didn t know, was just some straight stranger walking in and observing them they were so
nice and accepting. They were willing to let us into their environment, knowing that we were not
a part of it and I felt no judgment or anything. My fears that I had felt earlier in the day before
going were put to rest, while some people were unusually friendly to me no girls really tried to hit
on me, which was really relieving.
As mentioned above, the most shocking thing I noticed was the community, or the way they
socialized with and accepted themselves and each other. I think

cultural activity that fits well with our course and then report on your experience. Your instructor

Every report should be using at least the class text as one source for which they have a reference
and one or more in text citations. The need for referencing is limited in most cases to the class
text, but certain types of activities can very well lead to needing to cite more sources. . An
excellent report would make connections to things in the class text, and so would use in text citing
to specific things in the class text and a reference to it at the end. Also, you can cite some
background information that you find at other sources in print or online. Whatever sources you do
use should be cited in the APA stylewith both in text citations and a References) list at the end.
But, keep in mind, most of your report is on what you see and hear doing this. There are events that
might be exceptions, but this is the general approach here.

Tobacco s Harmful Effects, Health and Economic Essay
Tobacco kills five million people yearly, which is much more then HIV/Aids, Tuberculosis, and
Malaria combined, according to International Union Against Cancer. This addicting drug can in
fact end up giving the user a death sentence. As the body grows older, the DNA atoms can be
mutated by this seemingly harmless plant. This mutation of cells can eventually spread and the
user will end up with a body full of cancer. These cancer sticks or cigarettes are not only harmful
to your body but also hard on your wallet. The eradication of the use of tobaccowould deplete the
health risks associated with tobacco, and would put needed money back into the people s wallets.

These health risks all add up to a higher death rate. American Cancer Society and World Lung
Foundation reported that tobacco use causes six million deaths a year, a third of those deaths are
from cancer. According to VaHealth.org, smoking causes approximately four hundred thousand
deaths per year. Health warnings along with the impact on American wallets are the main two basic
reasons for eradicating tobacco use. These health warnings are not the only reason for eradicating
tobacco use, the other reason is the impact on the people s wallet. The extermination of tobacco
would not only put needed money into pockets, but it would drop the cost down to bare minimum
to account for the deflation. The tobacco industry tells the public that it employs close to two
hundred thousand employees, but according to Corp Watch, the manufacturing and farming
employees have plummeted due to mechanization, and increased the amount of imported tobacco
from foreign countries. In the U.S. right now the unemployment rate has increased to ten percent of
the total population in the United States, according to MSN money. According to Center for

tobacco is 96 billion dollars a year. This is the amount of money that Americans throw away each
year on health care bills are due to smoking, chewing, and consuming second hand

The Aeneid Vs Odyssey
Before comparing the actual stories of The Aeneid and The Iliad, one must consider the
remarkable success that the two respective stories have received since their origins in ancient
Greece and Rome. Homer, author of The Iliad and its famous counterpart The Odyssey, is a
legendary figure in history. Some question his actual existence and prefer to regard his two most
famous works as stories of oral tradition that were constructed and refined with thousands of
retellings by numerous poets over time. Others see Homer as a real man who entertained guests
with his witty, complex stories and later had scribes write down his famous words. It will be
assumed throughout this paper that Homer did exist for the sake of simplicity. On the other hand,...

Despite the major differences between the overall plot of the two books, the final battle scenes are
remarkably similar. As with anything, there is always a precursor to the end that informs the
audience of the impending crisis that the protagonist will have to face. For the Iliad and the Aeneid,
this precursor comes in the form of a shield given by divine powers. Both Achilles and Aeneas were
in desperate need of a new shield that would not only offer protection against the strongest spear
throwers but also provoke intimidation and wonder. Achilles had given his previous shield to
Patrocles and subsequently lost it to looting due to Patrocles s tragic death. Aeneas, meanwhile,
was at the tail end of an epic journey across much of the ancient world. His people had lost almost
everything in the sacking of Troy and although he had weapons they were not powerful enough and
not worthy enough for the leader of the quest. Both receive shields from divine sponsers. Achilles
entreats his mother for help and she convinces the blacksmith Hephaestus to craft a shield which he
makes ...large and strong, adorning it with beautiful designs all over (Iliad 225). The shield depicts
all of creation with the sun, moon, and stars in the middle and complex designs of humans and
cattle ringing the outside layers. In the Aeneid, Athena begs

A Web Based Communication Method
A webinar is a web based communication method, mainly uses for interactive and virtual
conferences, seminars, training, and employee orientations. It is directed using an online
software platform like adobe connect to participate viewers via the personal computers or
laptops. It gains popularity because the majority of employers are hiring distant workforces, and
also helps to train employees and agents as many as possible at a time (Williams, n.d.). Williams
(n.d) also provides a valuable information, especially, for those who are new to this technology
like me. For example, how to enter the given passcode, a recommendation to log in 10 minutes
before the start of the seminar, dialing the given number to access the webinar following to listen
to the presentation, the option of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) if there is no phone line.
Even though participating on a web based (webinar) seminar entirely is a new environment for
me, I decided to register for one of the very few free of charge webinar seminars that related to the
healthcare organization. After I had searched for a couple days, I found this website (https:/

7.5 Use Effective Classroom Communication
Teaching is highly dependent on communication. This is made clear by Simonds and Cooper
(2014) suggesting that teaching and learning is impossible without communicating, communication
is inevitable in an educational environment. Outstanding teachers display effective communication,
it is the basis of their teaching reputation as well as the basis of their rapport with students, parents,
colleagues and others (Simonds and Cooper, 2014). 3.5 Use effective classroom communication

Blair Witch Project Analysis
The Blair Witch Project is a highly successful and widely innovative independent film that was
released on July 30th, 1999. The film followed three student filmmakers who aimed to create a
documentary about a local legend called the Blair Witch. While the film alluded to various
hallmarks of the horror film genre, it was groundbreaking in its marketing strategy, the use of found
footage, and cinematography.
In many ways, The Blair Witch Project adheres to various tropes and traditions of the horror movie
genre. The film includes some characteristics of the Italian Giallo genre. In both genres, the killer is
unknown and unseen to the audience. The giallo underscores the theme of sight and the ability to
see clearly (Bondanella 381). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The monster triumphs over the protagonist(s), normative order is never restored, and the fates of
the the main characters and the monster are left uncertain (Pinedo 29 34). In The Blair Witch
Project, the protagonists are reported missing but we never see what actually happened to them.
The town begins exhaustive searches to find the students. The witch is never seen and presumably
survives the film to haunt the woods again. Like many other postmodern horror films, The Blair
Witch Project plays on insider knowledge that the audience has about the horror genre. The
audiences know not to run into abandoned houses, yell in the forest, or run away in different
directions but the protagonists do not. The audience then engages with the film using their insider
knowledge by yelling or commenting at the main characters to avoid the pitfalls of the horror genre.
The film also utilizes what Isabel Pinedo calls the pleasure of not seeing . She mentions that, The
blocked vision produced by the film heightens the intensity of the horror by refusing to show the
terrifying spectacle (54). The Blair Witch Project utilizes blocked vision through the use of the
camcorder. In the film, the viewer is only able to see what the protagonists see. In the darkness of
the night in the woods, the protagonists and the audience are unable to see what is terrorizing the
main characters in the night. In this sense, we express the same anxieties and fears of the

Oven Persuasive Essay
Before you bake anything, your oven needs to be heated to its proper temperature. It takes only a
few seconds to turn on your oven, but it takes several minutes for it to reach the right temperature.
Turning on your oven and letting it heat up to the right temperature is known as preheating. Most
recipes require you to turn your oven on first, before starting to cook.
First you should consider preheating your oven before starting your recipe. Electrical ovens often
need 10 to 15 minutes before they reach the proper temperature. This is usually enough time for
you to prepare your recipe. If it takes more than 15 minutes in which to prepare the food, then
consider starting the oven half way through the prepping process.

Most oven racks usually are set in the middle of the oven, but in some cases, the dish that you are
baking will need to be placed higher or lower in the oven. Refer to the recipe, and if necessary,
take out the oven rack and set it to the right level.
Note that items such as cakes, cookies, and cupcakes should be placed in the middle rack, unless
the recipe states otherwise.
Turn on the oven and set it to the right temperature. To get the right temperature, you will need to
refer to your recipe. The oven temperature is usually at the very beginning of the recipe, its the very
first step.
Wait for the oven to reach the desired temp. Most ovens have a setting that lets you either see the
current temperature or it will beep when ready. Some ovens have a little light that turns on when it
is the right temperature. This light is usually next to the oven temperature dial.
Consider using an oven thermometer. in some cases the temperature inside the oven is not very
accurate and does not actually match the temperature on the dial. An oven thermometer, which is
usually placed inside the oven, will tell you the actual temperature. Refer to this thermometer
instead of waiting for the indicator light to go on or for when the oven to beep.
Place your food in the oven and let it bake according to the recipe. Make sure that the door is
firmly closed, unless the recipe states otherwise. Opening and closing the door while baking will
cause the internal heat to escape, which may result in longer baking

How Did The Unification Of Italy Lead To Italian Unification
Before 1815, the Italian Peninsula had not been unified since the fall of the Roman Empire and
cultural divisions made it difficult for the Italian people to gain unity again.
Groups in several Italian states began to push the idea of a unified country but Italy went through
many obstacles attempting to unify and become what we know as Italy today.
Italy was divided into competing states which made it difficult for the people because they
considered themselves a part of their city, not as part of a bigger Italy. Secondly, The Congress of
Vienna divided Italy up among Austria, Hapsburg, and the French. Finally, Nationalist revolts were
continually crushed by Austria. The weak national feeling that the people of Italy were feeling was
because they found it difficult to identify with Italy as a country and still felt one with their
individual cities. The Tuscans of Florence, the Venetians of Venice, and the Neapolitans of Naples.

This conference was called the Congress of Vienna. Italy was divided up among Austrian rulers,

states, the first obstacle was the fact that Austria used their influence to suppress the unification to
protect their own interest and keep Austria stable. France sent troops to Rome to protect the Pope
which hindered the unification of the country in the final stage. The Franco Prussian War broke out
and France called back the troops in Rome to fight and helped Italy to complete the unification.

we must ignore the chaos happening around us and focus on what we really care and are

Reflection On Reading Comprehension
Introduction
Reading is one of the most beneficial activities a man can do. Out of reading, man can be able to
discover new things, concepts, places and people. More so, reading is a way to relax our mind and
soul, going deeply through the world of story and improves our thinking and internalization process.
Furthermore, reading opens the mind to new horizons and exposes a new experience. That s why,
whilst reading it also needs some sort of any other way of process, wherein man can read and
understand texts deeply. This so called other way of process is the outlining, that in such a way,
can be a tool for a meaningful reading comprehension.
An outline establishes an orderly relationship of facts or ideas. It is an essential tool and a time
saver. (De La Cruz and Aquino, 2008). It is the guide when reading or guide for writing a report.
Furthermore, outlining serves as a visualization of the ideas and information in an orderly manner.

Team Sport Research Paper
Playing a team sport builds character because it teaches a person how to be respectful, how to
work with others, and it teaches good sportsmanship. These qualities can play a very large role in
life down the road. They can be very important for future jobs or activities that a person might do.
Without these qualities a person could be at a severe disadvantage.
Playing a team sport teaches respect. Being respectful applies to being nice to your opponents,
coaches and referees. Respect is something that is taught only through other people and is earned
through good efforts in game with your teammates. To show respect to an opponent is to show
admiration to their abilities and acknowledge that they are also a good team and are just as good
as you. To show respect to a referee is to agree with their calls and shake their hand after the
game. To show respect to your coaches is listen to what they are saying in the huddle and follow
their instructions during game. To have respect is such an important thing for people to have

make a person very easy and outgoing because they are not always thinking about themselves and

Socratic Christian Philosophy David Talcott Analysis
While reading the article Socratic Christian Philosophy, I have come to the conclusion that
Socrates knows much about how to follow a god and how not sway away from his beliefs, but his
arrogance and god like personality come in the way of that because at some points it seems as
though Socrates believes he is as high as god. David Talcott, the author of this article, even
mentions that he believes that Socrates may have a gift which makes him as divine as god. Talcott
suggests that Socrates knows a lot about that Christian philosophybefore it was even created but I
believe how Socrates goes about presenting this information is a problem because he seems too
arrogant. For example, in the Apology, Socrates says he believes poets are not wise... Show more

This voice is not a part of Socrates thinking process but rather a voice bestowed onto him by the
gods and even if it was a part of his mental process, it is still a gift from a greater power. Talcott
also brings up the point that once Socrates receives instructions from god he will follow it
through completely like when he went on the mission to prove he was not the wisest of all men
as god said he was and he interrogated all of the wise men he could think of until coming up with
the conclusion that they are not wise which ended up being one of the reasons he was subjected to
death. Socrates obeys god no matter where it leads him and believes that it is better to harm
yourself rather than to harm others because when you harm others you are also ruining your soul in
the process which is a belief shown in many branches of Christianity. Socrates believing he speaks
to a god is problematic because it makes him believe that he is higher than all other beings which
ends up with him judging others based on what he believes is wise or not

Malcolm X-The Power Of Language
The Power of Language
If I say that I am currently employed with a major petroleum distribution center, you may think that
I am a highly qualified person making limitless amounts of money. However, I am using the power
of language to merely say that I work at a gas station making minimum wage. Great historical
figures throughout history have used the power of language, the ability to use words to their
advantage, to inspire people to unite under one common cause and to change the world.
Some of the most influential writers are those who appear in Language Awareness. Helen Keller

Malcolm X had the authority over the power of language. He writes, Many who hear me today

he realized that he could not get his thoughts onto his letters. He didn t have the vocabulary he
needed to write the letter appropriately. He saw that the best thing he could do was to get a hold

that power politics is the only way to conduct world politics in order to survive. However, this
belief is myopic and leads to policy changes that will make war more probable. Post Modernism
invalidates realism because it details that actors are missing, states are not unitary and thus not
rational, instead they are abstract, as described previously, and therefore national interest does not
exist (Nabers 2009, pg.198). Also, Post Modernism believes, unlike realism, that power is
measured, mostly, through tangible means, not relative to that of ideas, norms, words, etc.
Additionally, Post Modernism entails that realism is a self fulfilling prophesy. If people expect
war, prepare for war, spread the threat of war, war is more likely to occur, which reinforces the
original fear of war. This exonerates previous accusations of Post Modernism, because it details
realism s predictiveness within its own theory and does not account for other measures. Moreover,
constructivism, on the other hand, seeks to dismantle post modernist views by focusing more so
on, intersubjective creations, in international relations. Constructivism, like Post Modernism, sees
states bound by predetermined factors, but

Bud Not Buddy Essay
Bud Caldwell is ten years old. At the age of six, Bud s mother died. Bud lives in an orphanage,
called the Home, since he does not have any family members to take care of him. When Bud
heard he was going to live with the Amos, he wasn t very excited. He heard that Mr. and Mrs.
Amos son, Todd, was two years older than he is. Bud s friend, Bugs, was going to live with a
family that had three little girls. Bud would rather take Bugs new family than live with a twelve
year old boy any day. Bud had a suitcase full of important things like a photo of his mother, rocks
that his mother gave to him from different states and flyers that could lead Bud to his father (who

Right after pouring warm water on Todd s bed and hiding the family s shotgun, Bud grabbed his

him before he went to bed. He wanted to cry, but he couldn t. When Bud arrived at the library, he
knew he was on the lam. He slept under one of the trees that were outside the library doors. Bud
grabbed his blanket out his suit case and put it over his head. Bud decided to go to the mission to
get some breakfast in the morning. He knew he would have to wake up extra early so he could
get a good spot in line. Then, later he would go back to the mission for lunch. When Bud woke
up, he swathe sun began to rise. Once he arrived at the mission, a big, tall man announced that
the people before Bud were the last group of people to eat breakfast. Bud kept complaining and
begged to eat breakfast, but the big man didn t show any sympathy. The more Bud begged, the
more he was pushing the big man s buttons. Right when the man was about to hurt Bud, a family

pretend parents told him to come early next time. Then, Bud headed back

Viktor Frankl And The Holocaust
Viktor Frankl, renowned psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor, often quoted Nietzsche saying, He
who has a why to live for can bear almost any how . Viktor Frankl, known for his development of
logotherapy, a form of therapy that teaches individuals to live a life of meaning, put this saying to
use when he experienced unspeakable atrocities during the holocaust. Given his medical and
psychological history, Frankl was able to withstand Nazi concentration camps and not give into the
hopelessness he faced; he instead focused on the meaning of life.
It seems that Frankl arrived in the world at the right time; his purpose was fulfilled by his
circumstance. Frankl made sure to recognize everyone s individual essence, and it was with the

After receiving the title doctor, Frankl went on to work with behavioral psychologists Sigmund
Freud and Alfred Adler, while staging his own theory: logotherapy behavior is driven by the need
to find meaning. But Frankl later broke from his initial attraction to Freudian theory and began
studying psychoanalysis under Alfred Adler. He came to disagree with Adler s position that
people do not have the freedom of choice and willpower to overcome their problems (Range, 2000).
Frankl writes that, life is not primarily a quest for pleasure, as Freud believed, or a quest for power,
as Alfred Adler believed, but a quest for meaning (Frankl, Meaning ). However, his practice and
theory were not well received by medical professionals of the time.
For quite some time, German hatred towards the Jews had been brewing. With the humiliation and
shame of their defeat in World War I, their anger increased and they needed someone to blame for
all of their problems. With Hitler s rise to power, they had an outlet for their hatred. And so began
the Holocaust.
With his psychology background, Viktor Frankl was prepared, as one could be, for the
unspeakable horrors that were to come by the hands of Hitler and the Nazis who began advancing
and taking occupation of his city, religion, and culture. With the unimaginable terror and cruelty
Jews experienced, it is a wonder how those persecuted and subjected to torture and

India s Government Expenditure On Health
Thailand and Sri Lanka was 64.7% and 45.6% of total expenditure on health, while that of India
in the same year was only 17.3%. In the year 2005, the government expenditure on health for
Thailand and Sri Lanka was 63.9% and 46.2% of total expenditure on health, and India though it
remained significantly low had a small increase from 17.3% to 19.0%. This data shows the very
low priority accorded to the healthsector by the government in India.
In 2007, according to WHO s World Health Statistics, India ranked 184 among 191 countries in
terms of public expenditure on health as a percent of GDP. In per capita terms, India ranked 164
in the same sample of 191 countries, spending just about $29 (PPP). This level of per capita public
expenditure on health was around a third of Sri Lanka s and 14 percent of Thailand s (WHO, 2010).

Theology Reflection
In every field of study there is tension in definitions, but in theology, the word theology itself is full
of tension. On one hand, it is almost indescribable because it studies God who is without perfect
description, but on the other hand St. Anselm s statement, faith seeking understanding seems to
describe with perfect flexibility what it means to practice theology. My intent is to attend Graduate
school at Marquette University so that I can dive deeper into the history, study, and
communication of what it means for faith to seek understanding. My faith began to seek
understanding from an early age as I entered Catholic schools and learned about what it meant to
be Catholic. There, I was formed and there I was raised: I grew to know and love the Church and
God through my experiences in Catholic schools. My teachers imparted to us the prayers and
called us to do more than just pray the words: to live out the words within our lives. It was here I
that I became compelled to question the systems of justice in the world and in the church. My
sister, born with a cognitive disability, was told she could not receive the Eucharist when it came
time for her first communion. This prompted my family to dedicate time and work to make and
create spaces in the Church for people with disabilities. In the space of Catholic schools, my faith
needed understanding; it needed theology, which would illuminate how to construct change to help
open the doors to marginalized people in the public square to be welcomed into the Church. During
my time as an undergraduate student at the University of Dayton, I continued to develop skills and
knowledge assisting me in the process of faith seeking understanding. I chose to pursue two
degrees: a B.A. in religious studies and a B.S.E. in Secondary Catholic Education. The former
became my love, nothing excited me like going to a religion class. Here, I learned about the
methods behind theology and deepened my understanding of my religion and my faith. My
education degree formed me into someone more than just a teacher. My education degree served me
in more ways than just teaching in high schools because it taught me the invaluable skills of
communication, planning, research, and

Evaluation Of A Project At Work
A project at work we have completed more recently is the Inventory by location project. It is a
new system implemented to make it easier to locate product in the store and keep track of
inventory. The project took two weeks to complete. The first week was prep work and the
second week was implementation. The first week was broken down into three sequences while
second week was broken down into days. Before the system was put in, inventory only had a
few locations in the computer. There was general, staging, and receiving. The general inventory
was anything in the store that was in general inventory. To locate it, a person just had to know
what general area it was in or where it was in the store. When new employees were hired if they
were left alone it took hours to put up stock. They would have to ask previous employees were
product was or should go. It was very ineffective. Cycle counting inventory was also a nightmare.
An employee could not count inventory of one location or grouping of product. Cycle counts were
sporatic and there was no way to know where the product was in the store. There was not a way to
cycle countall inventory in the store without doing it by each individual part number, which would
have taken a month. Now, a cycle count can be done for each location accounting for all inventory
in the store in just a matter of a day. With the new system every shelf and subunit of shelving has a
location in the computer that shows a person where to locate a

Analyze The Values Of American Society
The following paper with analyze the values of American society and prove there are more
disadvantages than advantages to a high degree of agreement on these values. A large amount of
agreement on most of the values considered American could be detrimental to the country and as
an international power. Most American values revolve around accomplishment and fulfilling a
goal. Materialism, efficiency, demanding work, and competition are all values considered the
focus of most Americans. Materialism is the end goal; by working efficiently and beating the
competition, one can acquire all the possessions they want. In lesser amounts, these values can
push a nation forward economically. however, at the scale America utilizes these values, resources
are wasted, foreign relations are strained, and many within the country are left struggling.
Capitalism is moral and practical as it leaves the individual free to think rationally and act
productively to sustain one s life and experience happiness on earth. In macroeconomic terms,
capitalism is the best system available and the system America has always used. When looking at
individual communities and families struggling to simply make ends meet, it is easy to question
why the government will not set in and help its own people. When America was smaller and
agriculturally focused, capitalism worked for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

dehumanizes Nora and further reinforces Torvalds power. The symbol of money is a

spending money the way that she does. Torvald calls Nora a spendthrift and says that she is very
foolish with money. Torvald claims that Nora s lack of responsibility with money is due to being

Due to this constant criticism and belittlement is shown by Torvald towards Nora over money

The Invasion Of Iraq By The United States Essay
Over the previous two decades, the number of countries acquiring a democratic regime has
increased dramatically. Democracy is a political regime allowing a system of government that is
based on the belief of freedom and equal justice. Power is held by elected representatives through
free and fair elections, resulting in a system that reflects the people s choices. Democratic
countries rarely, if ever, wage war on each other and tend to resolve disputes in a more peaceful
manner rather than declaring war on their opposition. However, they are not the utopias of peace
that many people envision democracies to be. The invasion of Iraqby the United Statesof America in
2003 stands as a strong example where the impact of a forced regime change has resulted in unrest
and violence. IGO s like the UN promote democracyin a less invasive and obstructive way and are
a lot more successful. The invasion of Iraq clearly demonstrates the dangers of promoting
democracy in an undemocratic international system. The spread of democracy cannot be
imposed by force as it is discrediting the idea of freedom that the regime itself represents. Is
democracy a reason for peace just as much as it is a justification for war? I believe democracy does
make the world a more peaceful place, however, the forceful spread of democracy does not.
Immanuel Kant in Perpetual Peace 1765 originally brought up the idea that democratic countries
would be more peaceful than one with a monarchical governing

Remittance Flow Of Bangladesh And Bangladesh
Abstract In Bangladesh, remittance is one of the most important economic variables in recent times
as it helps in balancing balance of payments, increasing foreign exchange reserves, enhancing
national savings and increasing velocity of money. Moreover, it is greater than foreign aid and thus
helps in lessening dependence on foreign aid. Remittance gets momentum in recent time in
Bangladesh and is the second largest sector of foreign exchange earnings after the garments sector.
If cost of imported raw materials is deducted from the foreign exchange earning of the garments
sector, remittance becomes the single largest sector of foreign exchange earnings. Remittance
earning is increasing day by day but at a lower rate than the increase in emigration from
Bangladesh due to the increasing share of unskilled or semi skilled labors than the professionals in
international migration. The share of remittance in GNI (Gross National Income) is increasing day
by day. It affects almost all the macro economic indicators of a country positively. Though there are
also negative sides of remittance earning e.g. brain drain, its overall contribution to Bangladesh
economy is very much effective. Appropriate and timely government policies and initiatives can
boost up the amount of remittance and can rectify the problems related to it. Remittance has
created a new dimension in the economic development of Bangladesh. We have to properly unlock
the potentialities of remittances and utilize it

The Value of Genesis
Copious amounts of teenagers today have a habit of questioning books that are too old or stuffy
to apply to their everyday lives. Some of them may find correlations to works by William
Shakespeare or Jane Austen, but what about the other books, such as those from the Bible?
Usually regarded as too religious to have any connection to life, teens ignore these texts in favor of
ones that they feel can integrate into their lives with much more ease even though some books in
the Bible can actually connect more to life than some of these other relative works. Take, for
example, the book of Genesis. Although written and published thousands of years ago, the stories,

This takes many ideas and themes from the stories contained in Genesis mostly dealing with the
first few chapters and applies them to modern and ancient theories alike. Beyond that, one of the
most recognizable allusions to Genesis would be that of C.S. Lewis The Chronicles of Narnia
series. In fact, all of the books in this series not only allude to Genesis, but to the entire Bible.
Many, many references and parallels can be drawn between Genesis and The Chronicles of
Narnia for example, Aslan can be considered the God of Narnia, as the Narnians refer to him as
the creator of the world. In addition, the White Witch portrays his opposite the devil as she tries to
tempt the Pevensie children several times throughout the series (also a reference to the temptation
of Adam and Eve). Humans are also referred to as Son[s] of Adam (Lewis, 39) and Daughter[s] of
Eve (Lewis, 15), another reference to Genesis. Furthermore, many poems allude to Adam and
Eve, like Robert Frost s Never Again Would the Bird s Song Be The Same, which mentions Eve
in the line, From having heard the daylong voice of Eve (Frost, line 3). Anthony Hecht s Naming
the Animals offers the apparent descriptions of Adam naming all of the animals that God gave
him domain over. Beyond just Adam and Eve, Jacob Russell s poem How Jacob Loved centers
around Jacob, Leah, and Rachel. Even if you

Who Is The Double Person In Macbeth
The emotions some people portray, and the personalities they hide inside are often differing from
one another. This can be explained by the insecurity of themselves. An example of an insecure
person would be a bully. A bully disguises themselves as tough and rough being who belittles his
/her peers, but on the inside they are truly weak people. By showing superiority, the bully feels
more at ease with him/her self because they are not the ones being targeted and the attention is not
on them. William Shakespeare s Macbeth creates characters such as Lady Macbeth and Macbeth to

the two sides of the double man are these: one is brave, honorable, strong, inclined to be

how Macbeth is consumed by stress over doing the fair or foul thing, most often than not he
chooses to do the wrong thing and is taken over by his sense of greed. We see a change in
character in Macbeth from starting out as an honorable war hero to a weak, indecisive, and evil
person. Connolly goes on further and says that Lady Macbeth and the witches represent an
unconscious motivation. The witches deceive by falsely making true promises of success, and
Lady Macbeth by her denial to seeing that there is moral consequences. In the beginning
Macbeth is the one with the imagination; he quails before the deed because he can envision it
before it occurs. His wife complains of what she calls his weakness because she is incapable of
being appalled by an event which has not yet taken place (32). By seeing how unaffected Lady
Macbeth is by certain situations we see how cold hearted she is and how distant she is from her
feminine side of thinking. Macbeth is more morally conscious in doing the right thing than Lady
Macbeth, but towards the end Macbeth shows a change in character proving the Double Man
theory. Connolly then pin points the moment Macbeth turned dark and evil when he says to Lenox
T was a rough night (Macbeth). He acts completely normal masking his culpability showing that he
feels no remorse for what he had done. Connolly illustrates the insecurity of the characters by
explaining his Double Man theory to show that the characters evolved from beginning to end in a

Censorship Essay examples
Censorship
Without the history of Censorship, what type of things would children be watching? Without the
unique methods of Censorship, what kinds of films would be being released into the public?
Throughout this essay I will be explaining the steps taken to achieve the level of Censorship, that
we have now.
In 1900 1950 every movie in the world was rated before being released. The government, of the
country in which the movie was made always did this. In 1956 the rules were changed. Each movie
s script was now required to go before a Film Board, before being produced. If approved the
company was allowed to go on with production. In 1968 the Film Board of the Motion Picture
Association of America adopted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4. X No one under 17 is admitted.
Throughout History Production companies have been influenced by Religious, Ethnic, Racial and
political groups, who have lobbied against content they deem controversial.
In 1953 a producer named Otto Preminger, made a movie called The Moon is Blue . This movie
caused the collapse of the Production Code from previous years. The movie caused such
controversy because of one line in it a professional virgin . Because in 1953 the scripts of movies
were read before they were produced, and the organization CARA was not yet established, Otto
Preminger was not given a seal of approval. Before he was denied a seal of approval, we were
given the opportunity to cut the line out of the movie and go on. So he agreed to cut it out, but
the rest of the movie had quotes in it that implied similar things to that. This is what started the
slow loss of power for the Production Code. The Code was renewed in 1956, 1961 and then in 1968
the new approach of the organization CARA was reached.
As of 1990, the Motion Picture Association of America has a newer system of rating movies. It is
quite similar to that of 1968.
There are now five categories:
1. G general audiences
2. PG parental guidance advised.
3. PG 13: parental guidance advised for anyone under 13 years of age.
4. A parent or guardianmust accompany r anyone under 17.
5. NC 17No persons under the age of 17 admitted.

Analysis Of The Clean Air Act ( Caa ) Essay
1. Introduction
Fairfax County, Virginia is located just west of Washington, DC (DC) and is considered part of the
Metropolitan Baltimore Washington Region. Located along the mid Atlantic coast, Fairfax County
is a temperate climate with four distinctive seasons and has an average of 42 inches of rain per
year. Land use in Fairfax County consists of a mix of commercial, residential, and industrial uses.
As the population continues to increase, available land area has decreased, which has contributing
to urban sprawl and decreased air quality (Fairfax County, 2014). With rapid growth in the county,
the transportation sectors have expanded increasing the amount of mobile sources for air pollution
from both within the county and from outside the county. Air quality in Fairfax County has been
improving; however, the county and the region have yet to meet federal air quality standards for 8
hour ozone and particle matter.
2. Environmental Air Quality Issue
The Clean Air Act (CAA) was amended in 1990 to include the National Ambient Air Quality
Standards (NAAQS) for pollutants considered harmful to public health and the environment (U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], 2014). Fairfax County and the DC metropolitan area are
designated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a moderate non attainment area
for the eight hour ozone standard established by the NAAQS (Fairfax County, 2014). In addition to
non attainment for ground level ozone, particle matter

A lucky student was able to guess the correct answer. Jack Catt and Daniel Smith guessed that Chad

His lobby for music education started since he was young. According to Chad Smith, he did not

The Changes in Police and Crime Drama Over Time Essay
The Changes in Police and Crime Drama Over Time
Crime drama has always been featured as one of the most popular genres of our society. However
over the year s crime drama has been changed and adapted to fit into different times. Many aspects
of crime drama have been changed such as camera shots, seriousness of crimes and police language
/jargon in order for crime drama to change with the times, become more realistic and retain its
former popularity.
Throughout time many crime programmes featured on T.V have changed through Media language
(Iconography, editing, camerawork and music). The Bill, first created in 1984 featured a lot of
Iconography. At the start of the title sequence the camera focuses... Show more content on

Camera shots and editing have also changed. Older title sequences of the Bill used long camera
shots, which were not varied and were focused on a particular person. However over the years as
technology has improved the title sequences have become faster paced and use shorter and varied
camera shots that create feelings of excitement and tension for the viewer.
Music has also changed. The original title sequence (1984) featured reggae style music and used
off beat instruments. This suggested that the programme was based in a multi cultural area. The
music in the late 80 s was more upbeat and faster paced, however it featured the same theme tune.
The music in the mid 90 s was jazzy and sophisticated. Music has become more upbeat due to
changes of personalities in society. However the theme tune has remained the same in order for
people of different times to identify the programme as a long remaining classic.
The storylines of each title sequence have also changed over time. In the original title sequence
we do not see the police s face. This indicates that the main emphasis of the programme is on the
job of the police rather than their characters. The slow moving music and camera shots convey the
sense that the programme does not feature dangerous crimes but simple crimes such as theft or
burglary. However the late 80 s title sequence shows clips of

Informative Essay On Saturday Night Live
Saturday Night Live celebrated its 40th anniversary in style last season. Sure, the three and a
half hour special welcoming back alums and esteemed guests was entertaining, but the real
celebration should be because of its talented cast. SNL often gets a bad rap because people are
partial to their version of the show. If we look at the 2014 2015 cast ten or fifteen years from now,
we might consider them one of the best ensembles the NBC institution has ever produced. Here s a
look at the top 10 cast members from last season.
Number 10: Beck Bennett. Before Beck Bennett joined the cast in 2013, he was sitting at the kids

Ancient Greek Culture And Archetypes In The Odyssey
Connections between humans and their culture over time, rarely found, happen to be found in
ancient literature. The connections ,archetypes, can be found in the adventurous book The
Odyssey. Ancient greek culture is brought up by Homer through archetypes. In the Odyssey, topics
such as terrifying monsters , love tests, and an unstoppable hero are all related to ancient greek
culture. The Odysseyshows archetypes that also reveal this culture. Three archetypes found are
monsters, loyalty, and a hero which shows ancient greek culture for modern readers. Skull crushing
and blood thirsty monsters is a common fear and an archetype. For example, in the article Monster
Archetypes in the Odyssey, it states the most famous is Polyphemus, the dreaded Cyclops .
Polyphemus is a massive and spine chilling monster. The scene with Polyphemus of bashing skulls
against rocks is described as a horror film. The ancient greeks had their fear of mythical intimidating
creatures. Another example from the same article includes masking bloodlust and cannibalism to
Odysseusmen . The Laestrygonians, as said in the quote, were deceived as a normal village until
they found out they were cannibals. These characters might be found in a modern horror film,
Wrong Turn, so fear has not changed in the last 3,000 years. Not all monsters must be massive and
strong, but they can be seductiveness. Circeis a seductive woman who turns sailors into pigs

Piracy on International Waters and on the Coast of Somalia
Most people do not know this but piracy on international waters and on the coast of Somalia has
become an increasingly important issue to global businesses. Since most people are unaware of
this growing problem it has just now been noticed. To help stop piracy most crews are encouraged
to have trained officers aboard while shipping cargo to avoid attacks by pirates. 95 percent of the
piracyon international waters is by somali pirates. That s right 95 percent. Piracy is robbery
/stealing at sea. Not a lot of people are aware that piracy occurs almost everyday.
When pirates come aboard ships they rarely are looking to kill anyone, they steal cargo and money.
Piracy in Somalia is mostly caused because of money seekers that have threatened their families
if the pirates do not do what they ask. Since we have weak laws on piracy there is more of a chance
that the likelihood of piracy happening is way higher than ever. Somalia has a big coastline
3,025 km to be exact, this is one of the reasons why it is very common to see a lot of piracy
events happen close to Somalia. The other reason is because a lot of big shipping ports come
through the Arabian sea.
Just recently there was a movie made named Captain Phillips. The movie had to do with Somali
pirates and an american captain and his crew. The captain named Richard Phillips was taken
hostage by a Somali pirate captain and his crew which had three other people. At the end the
captain ends up serving 33 years in an american prison

Something that was really great about the film was in the beginning of the movie when Jean Do
first awakes from his coma. In the beginning of the filmwhen Jean opens his eye the camera is in a
third person point of view. The camera is in Jean s point of view for majority of the film. The
movie does a really good job with giving it from the main actor s point of view, and giving an
exact representation of what Jean is seeing. When Jean opens his eye the camera is blurred up just
like as if he has just awaken from a long nap. From the shot of the camera it

Post-Slavery And Economic Development In The American South

The first article is titled, Class Structure and Economic Development in the American South, 1865

Ethical Implications Of Recognizing That Clients Influence...
a.Discuss the ethical implications of recognizing that clients influence social workers. At what
point does this impact cross ethical boundaries? In what ways can we maintain a professional
relationship with clients, yet acknowledge how clients affect us? Clients influence social
workers in many ways including both positive and negative ways. This influence can create
change within ourselves, challenge us, help us grow, and inspire us in many ways. On the other
hand, as social workers we will not always agree with the values, moral judgments, and behaviors
of our clients. As we experience strong reactions to our clients values, moral judgments, and
behaviors related to such things as parenting, domestic violence, or drug use we must be aware
of how our clients influence us to be aware of how we respond to the client and the influence
they have on us. If we are not aware of how our clients impact us we may respond unethically
based on our personal values. If we are aware of the influence that our clients and these reactions
have on us then we can be more aware of our reactions and responses to our clients to ensure we
respond ethically. God places our clients in front of us to help each client make positive changes in
their lives, not to convince our client to adopt our personal values, moral judgements, and
behaviors. We can and should model for our clients, but we must not attempt to force our values and
behaviors on our clients. This impact crosses ethical boundaries

Vietnam s History and the Twentieth Century
It is both necessary and helpful to study the context of prior history because it reveals who we are
in relation to other people, cultures, and countries. Exploring the history of different peoples and
cultures experiences provides a clearer picture of their views, beliefs, feelings, and opinions.
History is a story told from a political and educational style. Learninghow the past shaped a country
and the leaders that had a part in it helps us understand that country s ways and interactions with
other countries.
The study of history influences our understanding of others and their culture. Like the quote If
we don t know from where we came, we don t know where we are going . Envisage a world
where no one knew anything about history; no documentation of any event, place or person. How
would anyone be able to 1) avoid repeating past mistakes. 2) know anything of those who came
before and all of their struggles, successes, and failures. By learning about history s participants
and events, we can find a source of inspiration from their courage, diligence and leadership styles.
One of the main reasons to study world history is to learn from and guard against past mistakes.
Today s military leaders should study not only their current enemy s war tactics and maneuvers but
also those of any others that took place in the area to provide context that helps equip an agile mind
to make informed decisions. Using the past actions, military leaders could anticipate their moves

Research Paper On Deep Sea Jellies
The ocean covers 71 percent of the Earth s surface, making the deep ocean one of the most
expansive habits. Although the ocean is extremely large, it is largely undiscovered; there has
been more people that have traveled to the moon than have gone to the depths of the ocean.
Depth and light are inversely related, so the deeper in the ocean one goes the less light is able to
reach to that point. Organisms that have called the depths of the ocean their home have adapted
to the extreme conditions in quite peculiar ways. Because red light is the first frequency of light
filtered out by the depth of water, deep sea jellies have evolved bodies that produce red light that
effectively makes them appear black because there is no red light to reflect.

Showing a Different Facet of Saudi Arabia in Rajaa...
Introduction
Rajaa Alsanea presents her readers with a society, Saudi Arabia, which is often labelled as archaic
and suppressive. However, her novel, Girls of Riyadh (2007), portrays another facet of Saudi
Arabia. The author takes Saudi society as standpoint to offer an insider s account of the situations
and conditions of four Saudi girlfriends; Gamrah, Sadeem, Michelle and Lamees. Although the four
highly fashionable and stylish girls from the velvet class lead a modern life, they still oscillate
between their desire for freedom and cultural patriarchal norms that they have internalised.
Although Saudi Arabia is claimed to be Islamic , Islamic feminists argue that Muslim men wrongly
interpret the Islamic traditions and Koran to uphold their misogynistic values.
History of Saudi Arabia
To be able to understand the prevailing situation in the Saudi system, it is essential to scrutinize
different elements of Saudi Arabian history. Amongst the dominant paradigms patriarchyis a legacy
of tribal history. Before the advent of Islam, Saudi Arabia was well known as the Jahiliyya that is
the age of ignorance . During this era, there was an absence of political structure with proper
constitution. The societal constructions depended primarily on the tribal communities which
embodied several clans. The leader of each tribe was called a Sheikh who was selected according
to their physical strength and character and he had absolute authority over every individual.

The Carnage of World War I
The carnage of world war one was the result of the clash between new technologies, but old
strategies. Blitzkrieg warfare would be the first form of modern military tactics for it fully utilizes
the technological advancements of that time. The term Blitzkrieg was not invented by the
Germans, but by an English magazine that described the invasion of Poland (Showalter). While
many accredit the invention of Blitzkriegwarfare to Heinz Guderian, Germany s Chief of Mobile
Troops during WWII, it was actually invented far before that. In fact, it was developed right after
WWI after seeing the devastating effects of trench warfare(Showalter). Ironically, the basis of
Blitzkrieg warfare was also laid by German Field Marshall Alfred von Schlieffenof the famous
Schlieffen plan of WWI(Showalter). The basic essence of Blitzkrieg warfare was built upon the
belief that Germany was always going to be out resourced and out numbered in every war and
thus in order to win it, the Germans must strike hard and fast and penetrate deep behind enemy
lines(Showalter). Thus, Blitzkrieg warfare was the most effective military tactic of its time
because it utilized all of the technology of its time, it not only utilized physical warfare, but also
psychological warfare, and because Germany s opponents were not prepared for this kind of
warfare.
One of the main reasons the Germans were so successful with Blitzkrieg warfare was because
Blitzkrieg warfare utilized all of the modern technologies to its

  • 3. Things Fall Apart Flaws One of the major flaws in society is the lack of people with strong convictions. While Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Abeche, is a novel revealing how the European invasion ultimately leads to the destruction of the African society, Chinua demonstrates an underlying message about how some internal flaws also lead to a person s or society s demise. The way people begin to follow the ways of the Christians and the lack of action regarding the missionary invasions are key factors in the ruin of the Ibo society. As a whole, the Ibo people do not stand on a clear conviction; thus they fall for another belief. A major cause of the collapse of Okonkwo s society is the scarcity of attempts to stop the missionary invasion. The arrival of the Europeans reveals the internal societal flaws of vulnerability and weakness of the Africans. It is evident that the sense of unity within the Ibo people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nwoye, along with the others that followed, are major causes of the Ibo ruin. If the entire Ibo society stood as one to support and protect their way of life, it is possible that they would not have given into the European principles. As the invasion of the missionaries is a leading cause of the demise of the Ibo society, it is not the solitary reason for their ill fate. The internal flaws in Umuofia are what allow the missionaries to be successful in their intrusion. The Ibo people do not stand up against the white men, so the Ibo fall for their demands. When Okonkwo makes valiant proclamations advising his people to defeat the missionaries and drive them away, Obierika responds: It is already too late...Our own men and our sons have joined the ranks of the stranger. They have joined his religion and they help to uphold his government. If we should try to drive out the white men in Umofia we should find it easy. There are only two of them. • 4. Nipah Virus Research Paper For the Nipah Virus, fruit bats of the Pteropus genus have been identified as the natural reservoir. The virus has been isolated in many bodily locations, such as the brain and spinal fluid, and from environmental prototypes, like bat urine and partially eaten fruit, such as found in cases of Malaysia. Antibodies of the Nipah virushave been found in the sera of fruit bats, which have been collected in India, Indonesia, and many others such as Madagascar and Ghana. The presence of these antibodies indicate that goats, horses, and some cats and dogs have been reported as infected, with a history of exposure to infected pigs in Malaysia. This wide range of locations where NiV has been discovered represents its wide geographic distribution. While... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recent data has shown that since 1998, NiV has infected nearly 477 people, while killing almost 252. These reported outbreaks have a strong seasonal pattern and a limited geographical range , with a fatality rate ranging from 40 70%...although it has been as high as 100% in some outbreaks (World Health, p.3). As NiV was first recognized in an outbreak of 276 cases in Malaysia and Singapore from September 1998 to May 1999, most of the patients documented were noted to have had some contact with infected pigs. Autopsy findings showed diffused vasculitis within the central nervous system, including immunostaining of endothelial cells with anti Nipah virus hyper immune serum. Of the patients primarily with encephalitis; 39% died (Hughes Wilson, 2009, p.1). NiV was initially isolated from urine specimens collected from P. hypomelanus roost, as well as fruit partially eaten by bats in Malaysia. Experimental injections of Pteropus bats were conducted in order to identify the existence of the NiV virus within the mammals; however, it does not cause illness in the bats. • 5. cultural experience Mercedes Lechlitner S102 Katy Kelly April 1, 2014 Cultural Experience Describe In preparation for this reflection, I began by thinking about what cultural event I would most like to attend, what would work for the assignment and what would also benefit me in my personal life by actually forcing me out of my comfort zone to experience things I never have before. Because Christianity is such a huge part of my life I immediately thought I would want to do something based on another religion since I ve never really gone out of my religious comfort zone, but for this assignment I chose to go to a gay bar. The reason I chose to do this was because I have been raised as a Christian, I grew up in a very conservative town and while I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think it would have a been a very different experience if we had gone when we were 21 and could drink at the bar, I think it would have changed the experience a little bit. We arrived at the bar at a little bit after 10 which is when the dance floor opened and stayed until around 1 in the morning. Examine The part of this experience that was the most compelling to me was almost the sense of community that I felt was just there between the gay community. Like there were a lot of groups of people there that night that didn t even know each other, but you would never guess that by the way they acted like they had been friends for years. Even towards me and my roommate who they didn t know, was just some straight stranger walking in and observing them they were so nice and accepting. They were willing to let us into their environment, knowing that we were not a part of it and I felt no judgment or anything. My fears that I had felt earlier in the day before going were put to rest, while some people were unusually friendly to me no girls really tried to hit on me, which was really relieving. As mentioned above, the most shocking thing I noticed was the community, or the way they socialized with and accepted themselves and each other. I think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tobacco s Harmful Effects, Health and Economic Essay Tobacco kills five million people yearly, which is much more then HIV/Aids, Tuberculosis, and Malaria combined, according to International Union Against Cancer. This addicting drug can in fact end up giving the user a death sentence. As the body grows older, the DNA atoms can be mutated by this seemingly harmless plant. This mutation of cells can eventually spread and the user will end up with a body full of cancer. These cancer sticks or cigarettes are not only harmful to your body but also hard on your wallet. American Cancer Society and World Lung Foundation reported that tobacco use causes six million deaths a year, a third of those deaths are from cancer. According to VaHealth.org, smoking causes approximately four hundred thousand deaths per year. Health warnings along with the impact on American wallets are the main two basic reasons for eradicating tobacco use. These health warnings are not the only reason for eradicating tobacco use, the other reason is the impact on the people s wallet. The extermination of tobacco would not only put needed money into pockets, but it would drop the cost down to bare minimum to account for the deflation. The tobacco industry tells the public that it employs close to two hundred thousand employees, but according to Corp Watch, the manufacturing and farming employees have plummeted due to mechanization, and increased the amount of imported tobacco from foreign countries. In the U.S. right now the unemployment rate has increased to ten percent of the total population in the United States, according to MSN money. • 8. The Aeneid Vs Odyssey Before comparing the actual stories of The Aeneid and The Iliad, one must consider the remarkable success that the two respective stories have received since their origins in ancient Greece and Rome. Homer, author of The Iliad and its famous counterpart The Odyssey, is a legendary figure in history. Some question his actual existence and prefer to regard his two most famous works as stories of oral tradition that were constructed and refined with thousands of retellings by numerous poets over time. Others see Homer as a real man who entertained guests with his witty, complex stories and later had scribes write down his famous words. It will be assumed throughout this paper that Homer did exist for the sake of simplicity. On the other hand,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the major differences between the overall plot of the two books, the final battle scenes are remarkably similar. As with anything, there is always a precursor to the end that informs the audience of the impending crisis that the protagonist will have to face. For the Iliad and the Aeneid, this precursor comes in the form of a shield given by divine powers. Both Achilles and Aeneas were in desperate need of a new shield that would not only offer protection against the strongest spear throwers but also provoke intimidation and wonder. Achilles had given his previous shield to Patrocles and subsequently lost it to looting due to Patrocles s tragic death. Aeneas, meanwhile, was at the tail end of an epic journey across much of the ancient world. His people had lost almost everything in the sacking of Troy and although he had weapons they were not powerful enough and not worthy enough for the leader of the quest. Both receive shields from divine sponsers. Achilles entreats his mother for help and she convinces the blacksmith Hephaestus to craft a shield which he makes ...large and strong, adorning it with beautiful designs all over (Iliad 225). The shield depicts all of creation with the sun, moon, and stars in the middle and complex designs of humans and cattle ringing the outside layers. In the Aeneid, Athena begs ... • 9. A Web Based Communication Method A webinar is a web based communication method, mainly uses for interactive and virtual conferences, seminars, training, and employee orientations. It is directed using an online software platform like adobe connect to participate viewers via the personal computers or laptops. It gains popularity because the majority of employers are hiring distant workforces, and also helps to train employees and agents as many as possible at a time (Williams, n.d.). Williams (n.d) also provides a valuable information, especially, for those who are new to this technology like me. For example, how to enter the given passcode, a recommendation to log in 10 minutes before the start of the seminar, dialing the given number to access the webinar following to listen to the presentation, the option of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) if there is no phone line. Even though participating on a web based (webinar) seminar entirely is a new environment for me, I decided to register for one of the very few free of charge webinar seminars that related to the healthcare organization. After I had searched for a couple days, I found this website (https:/ /hrsa.connectsolutions.com/hrsa cdc/) and registered for the free enter as a guest and had gotten participant passcode. This is made clear by Simonds and Cooper (2014) suggesting that teaching and learning is impossible without communicating, communication is inevitable in an educational environment. • 11. Blair Witch Project Analysis The Blair Witch Project is a highly successful and widely innovative independent film that was released on July 30th, 1999. The film followed three student filmmakers who aimed to create a documentary about a local legend called the Blair Witch. While the film alluded to various hallmarks of the horror film genre, it was groundbreaking in its marketing strategy, the use of found footage, and cinematography. In many ways, The Blair Witch Project adheres to various tropes and traditions of the horror movie genre. The film includes some characteristics of the Italian Giallo genre. The witch is never seen and presumably survives the film to haunt the woods again. Like many other postmodern horror films, The Blair Witch Project plays on insider knowledge that the audience has about the horror genre. The audiences know not to run into abandoned houses, yell in the forest, or run away in different directions but the protagonists do not. The audience then engages with the film using their insider knowledge by yelling or commenting at the main characters to avoid the pitfalls of the horror genre. The film also utilizes what Isabel Pinedo calls the pleasure of not seeing . She mentions that, The blocked vision produced by the film heightens the intensity of the horror by refusing to show the terrifying spectacle (54). The Blair Witch Project utilizes blocked vision through the use of the camcorder. In the film, the viewer is only able to see what the protagonists see. In the darkness of the night in the woods, the protagonists and the audience are unable to see what is terrorizing the main characters in the night. It takes only a few seconds to turn on your oven, but it takes several minutes for it to reach the right temperature. Turning on your oven and letting it heat up to the right temperature is known as preheating. Most recipes require you to turn your oven on first, before starting to cook. First you should consider preheating your oven before starting your recipe. Electrical ovens often need 10 to 15 minutes before they reach the proper temperature. Note that items such as cakes, cookies, and cupcakes should be placed in the middle rack, unless the recipe states otherwise. Turn on the oven and set it to the right temperature. To get the right temperature, you will need to refer to your recipe. The oven temperature is usually at the very beginning of the recipe, its the very first step. Wait for the oven to reach the desired temp. Most ovens have a setting that lets you either see the current temperature or it will beep when ready. Some ovens have a little light that turns on when it is the right temperature. This light is usually next to the oven temperature dial. Consider using an oven thermometer. in some cases the temperature inside the oven is not very accurate and does not actually match the temperature on the dial. An oven thermometer, which is usually placed inside the oven, will tell you the actual temperature. • 13. How Did The Unification Of Italy Lead To Italian Unification Before 1815, the Italian Peninsula had not been unified since the fall of the Roman Empire and cultural divisions made it difficult for the Italian people to gain unity again. Groups in several Italian states began to push the idea of a unified country but Italy went through many obstacles attempting to unify and become what we know as Italy today. Italy was divided into competing states which made it difficult for the people because they considered themselves a part of their city, not as part of a bigger Italy. Secondly, The Congress of Vienna divided Italy up among Austria, Hapsburg, and the French. Finally, Nationalist revolts were continually crushed by Austria. The weak national feeling that the people of Italy were feeling was because they found it difficult to identify with Italy as a country and still felt one with their individual cities. David Talcott, the author of this article, even mentions that he believes that Socrates may have a gift which makes him as divine as god. • 19. Arguments Against Post-Modernism Furthermore, realist and constructivist arguments against Post Modernism are weak, unstable, and are easily shut down when closely analyzing post modernist views. Within realism, the sole criticism of Post Modernism is that the belief is that an anarchic system leads them to conclude that power politics is the only way to conduct world politics in order to survive. However, this belief is myopic and leads to policy changes that will make war more probable. Post Modernism invalidates realism because it details that actors are missing, states are not unitary and thus not rational, instead they are abstract, as described previously, and therefore national interest does not exist (Nabers 2009, pg.198). Also, Post Modernism believes, unlike realism, that power is measured, mostly, through tangible means, not relative to that of ideas, norms, words, etc. Additionally, Post Modernism entails that realism is a self fulfilling prophesy. If people expect war, prepare for war, spread the threat of war, war is more likely to occur, which reinforces the original fear of war. This exonerates previous accusations of Post Modernism, because it details realism s predictiveness within its own theory and does not account for other measures. Moreover, constructivism, on the other hand, seeks to dismantle post modernist views by focusing more so on, intersubjective creations, in international relations. He came to disagree with Adler s position that people do not have the freedom of choice and willpower to overcome their problems (Range, 2000). On one hand, it is almost indescribable because it studies God who is without perfect description, but on the other hand St. Anselm s statement, faith seeking understanding seems to describe with perfect flexibility what it means to practice theology. My intent is to attend Graduate school at Marquette University so that I can dive deeper into the history, study, and communication of what it means for faith to seek understanding. My faith began to seek understanding from an early age as I entered Catholic schools and learned about what it meant to be Catholic. There, I was formed and there I was raised: I grew to know and love the Church and God through my experiences in Catholic schools. My teachers imparted to us the prayers and called us to do more than just pray the words: to live out the words within our lives. It was here I that I became compelled to question the systems of justice in the world and in the church. My sister, born with a cognitive disability, was told she could not receive the Eucharist when it came time for her first communion. This prompted my family to dedicate time and work to make and create spaces in the Church for people with disabilities. In the space of Catholic schools, my faith needed understanding; it needed theology, which would illuminate how to construct change to help open the doors to marginalized people in the public square to be welcomed into the Church. During my time as an undergraduate student at the University of Dayton, I continued to develop skills and knowledge assisting me in the process of faith seeking understanding. I chose to pursue two degrees: a B.A. in religious studies and a B.S.E. in Secondary Catholic Education. The former became my love, nothing excited me like going to a religion class. Here, I learned about the methods behind theology and deepened my understanding of my religion and my faith. My education degree formed me into someone more than just a teacher. Before the system was put in, inventory only had a few locations in the computer. There was general, staging, and receiving. The general inventory was anything in the store that was in general inventory. To locate it, a person just had to know what general area it was in or where it was in the store. When new employees were hired if they were left alone it took hours to put up stock. They would have to ask previous employees were product was or should go. It was very ineffective. Analyze The Values Of American Society The following paper with analyze the values of American society and prove there are more disadvantages than advantages to a high degree of agreement on these values. A large amount of agreement on most of the values considered American could be detrimental to the country and as an international power. Most American values revolve around accomplishment and fulfilling a goal. Materialism, efficiency, demanding work, and competition are all values considered the focus of most Americans. Materialism is the end goal; by working efficiently and beating the competition, one can acquire all the possessions they want. In lesser amounts, these values can push a nation forward economically. however, at the scale America utilizes these values, resources are wasted, foreign relations are strained, and many within the country are left struggling. Capitalism is moral and practical as it leaves the individual free to think rationally and act productively to sustain one s life and experience happiness on earth. In macroeconomic terms, capitalism is the best system available and the system America has always used. • 33. The Invasion Of Iraq By The United States Essay Over the previous two decades, the number of countries acquiring a democratic regime has increased dramatically. Democracy is a political regime allowing a system of government that is based on the belief of freedom and equal justice. Power is held by elected representatives through free and fair elections, resulting in a system that reflects the people s choices. Democratic countries rarely, if ever, wage war on each other and tend to resolve disputes in a more peaceful manner rather than declaring war on their opposition. However, they are not the utopias of peace that many people envision democracies to be. The invasion of Iraqby the United Statesof America in 2003 stands as a strong example where the impact of a forced regime change has resulted in unrest and violence. IGO s like the UN promote democracyin a less invasive and obstructive way and are a lot more successful. The invasion of Iraq clearly demonstrates the dangers of promoting democracy in an undemocratic international system. The spread of democracy cannot be imposed by force as it is discrediting the idea of freedom that the regime itself represents. Is democracy a reason for peace just as much as it is a justification for war? I believe democracy does make the world a more peaceful place, however, the forceful spread of democracy does not. Remittance Flow Of Bangladesh And Bangladesh Abstract In Bangladesh, remittance is one of the most important economic variables in recent times as it helps in balancing balance of payments, increasing foreign exchange reserves, enhancing national savings and increasing velocity of money. Moreover, it is greater than foreign aid and thus helps in lessening dependence on foreign aid. Remittance gets momentum in recent time in Bangladesh and is the second largest sector of foreign exchange earnings after the garments sector. If cost of imported raw materials is deducted from the foreign exchange earning of the garments sector, remittance becomes the single largest sector of foreign exchange earnings. Remittance earning is increasing day by day but at a lower rate than the increase in emigration from Bangladesh due to the increasing share of unskilled or semi skilled labors than the professionals in international migration. The share of remittance in GNI (Gross National Income) is increasing day by day. It affects almost all the macro economic indicators of a country positively. Though there are also negative sides of remittance earning e.g. brain drain, its overall contribution to Bangladesh economy is very much effective. Usually regarded as too religious to have any connection to life, teens ignore these texts in favor of ones that they feel can integrate into their lives with much more ease even though some books in the Bible can actually connect more to life than some of these other relative works. Beyond that, one of the most recognizable allusions to Genesis would be that of C.S. Lewis The Chronicles of Narnia series. In fact, all of the books in this series not only allude to Genesis, but to the entire Bible. Many, many references and parallels can be drawn between Genesis and The Chronicles of Narnia for example, Aslan can be considered the God of Narnia, as the Narnians refer to him as the creator of the world. In addition, the White Witch portrays his opposite the devil as she tries to tempt the Pevensie children several times throughout the series (also a reference to the temptation of Adam and Eve). • 37. Who Is The Double Person In Macbeth The emotions some people portray, and the personalities they hide inside are often differing from one another. This can be explained by the insecurity of themselves. An example of an insecure person would be a bully. A bully disguises themselves as tough and rough being who belittles his /her peers, but on the inside they are truly weak people. By showing superiority, the bully feels more at ease with him/her self because they are not the ones being targeted and the attention is not on them. William Shakespeare s Macbeth creates characters such as Lady Macbeth and Macbeth to possess personality qualitites of the opposite gender. Critics, however, disagree as to why Shakespeare intended on creating these kinds of characters with Thomas F. Connolly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... the two sides of the double man are these: one is brave, honorable, strong, inclined to be conventional and not too bright, while the other is the devious character already described, who places intelligence, even a dark intelligence, above mere honor (31). In the play it is often seen how Macbeth is consumed by stress over doing the fair or foul thing, most often than not he chooses to do the wrong thing and is taken over by his sense of greed. We see a change in character in Macbeth from starting out as an honorable war hero to a weak, indecisive, and evil person. Connolly goes on further and says that Lady Macbeth and the witches represent an unconscious motivation. The witches deceive by falsely making true promises of success, and Lady Macbeth by her denial to seeing that there is moral consequences. In the beginning Macbeth is the one with the imagination; he quails before the deed because he can envision it before it occurs. His wife complains of what she calls his weakness because she is incapable of being appalled by an event which has not yet taken place (32). By seeing how unaffected Lady Macbeth is by certain situations we see how cold hearted she is and how distant she is from her feminine side of thinking. Macbeth is more morally conscious in doing the right thing than Lady Macbeth, but towards the end Macbeth shows a change in character proving the Double Man theory. Connolly then pin points the moment Macbeth turned dark and evil when he says to Lenox T was a rough night (Macbeth). He acts completely normal masking his culpability showing that he feels no remorse for what he had done. Connolly illustrates the insecurity of the characters by explaining his Double Man theory to show that the characters evolved from beginning to end in a negative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1953 a producer named Otto Preminger, made a movie called The Moon is Blue . This movie caused the collapse of the Production Code from previous years. The movie caused such controversy because of one line in it a professional virgin . Because in 1953 the scripts of movies were read before they were produced, and the organization CARA was not yet established, Otto Preminger was not given a seal of approval. Before he was denied a seal of approval, we were given the opportunity to cut the line out of the movie and go on. So he agreed to cut it out, but the rest of the movie had quotes in it that implied similar things to that. This is what started the slow loss of power for the Production Code. The Code was renewed in 1956, 1961 and then in 1968 the new approach of the organization CARA was reached. As of 1990, the Motion Picture Association of America has a newer system of rating movies. At what point does this impact cross ethical boundaries? In what ways can we maintain a professional relationship with clients, yet acknowledge how clients affect us? Clients influence social workers in many ways including both positive and negative ways. This influence can create change within ourselves, challenge us, help us grow, and inspire us in many ways. On the other hand, as social workers we will not always agree with the values, moral judgments, and behaviors of our clients. As we experience strong reactions to our clients values, moral judgments, and behaviors related to such things as parenting, domestic violence, or drug use we must be aware of how our clients influence us to be aware of how we respond to the client and the influence they have on us. If we are not aware of how our clients impact us we may respond unethically based on our personal values. Envisage a world where no one knew anything about history; no documentation of any event, place or person. How would anyone be able to 1) avoid repeating past mistakes. 2) know anything of those who came before and all of their struggles, successes, and failures. • 52. Research Paper On Deep Sea Jellies The ocean covers 71 percent of the Earth s surface, making the deep ocean one of the most expansive habits. Although the ocean is extremely large, it is largely undiscovered; there has been more people that have traveled to the moon than have gone to the depths of the ocean. Depth and light are inversely related, so the deeper in the ocean one goes the less light is able to reach to that point. Organisms that have called the depths of the ocean their home have adapted to the extreme conditions in quite peculiar ways. Because red light is the first frequency of light filtered out by the depth of water, deep sea jellies have evolved bodies that produce red light that effectively makes them appear black because there is no red light to reflect. ... • 55. The Carnage of World War I The carnage of world war one was the result of the clash between new technologies, but old strategies. Blitzkrieg warfare would be the first form of modern military tactics for it fully utilizes the technological advancements of that time. The term Blitzkrieg was not invented by the Germans, but by an English magazine that described the invasion of Poland (Showalter). While many accredit the invention of Blitzkriegwarfare to Heinz Guderian, Germany s Chief of Mobile Troops during WWII, it was actually invented far before that. In fact, it was developed right after WWI after seeing the devastating effects of trench warfare(Showalter). Ironically, the basis of Blitzkrieg warfare was also laid by German Field Marshall Alfred von Schlieffenof the famous Schlieffen plan of WWI(Showalter). The basic essence of Blitzkrieg warfare was built upon the belief that Germany was always going to be out resourced and out numbered in every war and thus in order to win it, the Germans must strike hard and fast and penetrate deep behind enemy lines(Showalter). Thus, Blitzkrieg warfare was the most effective military tactic of its time because it utilized all of the technology of its time, it not only utilized physical warfare, but also psychological warfare, and because Germany s opponents were not prepared for this kind of warfare.
