Ronald Ron/Ronnie Smith was born on March 26th, 1936. As a kid, Ronnie
partook in many activities outside such as hide and seek and nurse and Doctor with
his only neighborhood friend. On rainy days he would play Chinese checkers and
play with a little metal car he still has today. He went through elementary school
with no thought of what he was doing or studying. Ron dedicated his life to Christ
at twelve years old and remembers going to church every Sunday and Wednesday for
as long as he can remember.
As a kid, Ron s economic situation was in the lower class system. As he says, we
were dirt poor but we didn t know it. He lived in a house under 1500ft2 with a dad
that was a barber for men s hair, and a mom who cooked, cleaned, and ironed in the

In the novel Anthem by Ayn Rand Equality leaves the harsh society to enter the
forbidden forest to leave all the rules that the council had made behind, and he
would not make these rules from the society because it would have no purpose of

put in place, and also to learn how life used to be and could be in the future of his

Recently at the San Diego Regional Airport Authority many volunteering events
have become available to its employees and are kept optional and don t affect
status of employment if one chooses not to partake. Whether its volunteering at the
local Father Joes Villages serving food to the homeless or boxing supplies to

Initially, borders were used to define a state s territory, which in return was used to
measure a state s power (Madsen 280). Within a territory a state is said to have
sovereignty over the land and the people it inhabits. The concept of state sovereignty
can be attributed to nationalism. As nationalism has risen in importance since the
mid 18th century, so have borders. Up until the Europeans arrived in the Americas in
1492, borders were non existent, at least not in a modern definition of a state border.
However, since then, there has been a severe transformation of the definition of
borders, but more importantly, also in the existence of borders in the Americas.
Today borders are increasingly analyzed in terms of their social implications as
instruments of state power and reflection of societal discourse and prejudice (Maden
280). The United Statesof America has 7,400 miles of international boundary
dividing U.S. territory from Canada in the North and Mexico in the South. (Butts
383). While the border policy has toughened since the 1980s/1990s due to Nixon s

In every organization there is always room for change. Interning at Queens
Endoscopy Center has shown me that. The first few weeks interning I noticed
there could be more signs up for directions. The endoscopy center is located in a
building with many floors and this center is on the 3rd floor. Once patients get out
the elevator there is no sign on which direction to turn to get to the front desk.
There is just one door leading to another. I would like to put up more arrows and
signs to guide the patient in the directions to go to. If I were to get lost by not
knowing where to go, I felt others would as well. Another change that I would like to

Okay, I ll tell you how I journal. First, I keep my journal on my nightstand next to

The Plot
A family that consists of a grandmother, father, mother, and three grandchildren
