Sexual Violence and The Adam Walsh Act
Sexual assault occurs every two minutes in the United States. Sexual violence against women is
still endemic in the United States. Statistics show nearly one in five women have been sexually
assaulted. Managing sex offenders is still an issue in the criminal justice system. Repeat offenders
are extremely difficult to monitor. The national legislature monitoring system contains an absence
of effective research in monitoring sex offenders. Sexual offender registration and notification Act
(SORNA) operates in all the US states and territories. The objective is to monitor and track sex
offenders by law enforcement. Also they provide information to the public and the communities
about the offenders. For example, the National registry allows the public to be informed of a
registered offender and their demographics.
The Adam Walsh Act (AWA) was instilled to create greater uniformity in SORNA systems in all the
US states and territories. SORNA is an essential component of the AWA. The act requires
standardizing the registration of sex offenders, and community notification practices. There are two
ways notification is practiced for registered sex offenders. Communities vary in which way to notify
residents. Some communities choose active notification. Active notification is where residents are
informed that a registered sex offender lives nearby. Residents are notified by phone, mail, or face
to face. The other form of notification that is practiced is called passive notification.

Washington takes us through a journey about a man who took a twenty year nap. Waking up
noticing the world he knew has changed. Washington Irving s national mythology, Rip Van Winkle
greatly impacts its reader through his use of unique settings, mysterious characters, and magical
events.
The setting is very magical, unique and different. This story takes place in a small town at the foot
of the Kaatskill Mountains. Every change of season every change of weather, indeed, every hour of
the day produces some change in the magical hues and shape of these mountains ... At the foot of

Essay about Stakeholders of the Offshore Wind Company
Stakeholders of the Offshore Wind Company A business s stakeholders are the people who are
affected by the actions of the business. In this case, the Offshore Wind Company (ltd). In this piece,
I am looking to investigate the importance of shareholders, their interests, environmental thoughts,
and their adverse to success. Stakeholders are very important in today s modern society, as they
can hold the key to the company s success. They take care of the financial issues, and decisions
made by and for the company. The six main stakeholders are Financiers, Pressure groups, Suppliers,
Employees, Owners, and, of course, the Local Community. Stakeholders can range from central...

A typical example would be environmental pressure groups, protesting against wind turbines on
the coast. This could be because the seabed would be disturbed and damaged, and the local
fishing would be disrupted. Suppliers like to be consulted beforehand also, as this gives them
time to prepare the produce so as its ready for the Offshore Wind Company when they want it. If
it weren t ready when the Company need it, they might look somewhere else for supplies, so the
suppliers wouldn t get their income capital. Local community could be against the wind turbines
ruining the countryside and view. This is why stakeholders like to be consulted before any big
decisions are made. Success is also another big issue for shareholders. For those such as owners,
shareholders, employees, suppliers and financiers it is incredibly important because if the
Offshore Wind Company doesn t succeed, they don t get paid. The employees would probably
loose their jobs, the owners business would fold, along with the shareholders loosing all their
money, the suppliers wouldn t get paid back, and nor would the financiers. It s a bit different in the
case if Local community and pressure groups though, because it goes a bit both ways.

Freedom in Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground Essay
Freedom in Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground
In Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground, the Underground Man proposes a radically different
conception of free action from that of Kant. While Kant thinks that an agent is not acting freely
unless he acts for some reason, the Underground Man seems to take the opposite stance: the only
way to be truly autonomous is to reject this notion of freedom, and to affirm one s right to act for
no reason. I will argue that the Underground Man s notion of freedom builds on Kant s, in that it
requires self consciousness in decision making. But he breaks from Kant when he makes the claim
that acting for a reason is not enough, and only provides an illusion of freedom. When faced with
the two options of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So far, the Underground Man and Kant are in agreement. However, Kant believes that the
endorsement of desires consists of having a reason to act on that desire, a reason based on what
we perceive as some good. The type of good is unspecified it could anything from the satisfaction
of egoistic aims to the betterment of the human race. What is important is that we establish for
ourselves what type of good on which to base our reasons. Free action is impossible unless we
formulate our reasons independently; more specifically, we must decide for ourselves what is a
good reason for acting. Although the Underground Man agrees that we must formulate our own
reasons, he rejects the notion that reasons based on any concept of a perceived good can ever
really be our own.
This rejection of reasons as a basis for autonomy stems from his belief that freedom is virtually
impossible in a largely deterministic and evolutionary universe, where everything is determined
by the laws of nature to which he constantly refers. The Underground Man believes that the
feeling of freedom engendered by acting for a reason as opposed to acting blindly is an illusion.
He says of men with limited consciousness that Г¬they take immediate and secondary causes for
primary ones, and in this way they are more quickly and easily convinced than others that they have
discovered an indisputable basis for their activityГ® (19). In other

this organ so formed was under the League of Nations which was later replaced by The

The International court of Justice so formed is the principal judicial organ of the U.N. It is the

The Importance Of Outsourcing Jobs In America
The Downside of Outsourcing Jobs in America
The number one goal for any company is to be profitable. They must first create a product that is in
demand. After this product is created, other concerns will start to arise such as manufacturing,
distribution, overhead, competition and marketing just to name a few. All of these things lead
down to one thing, money. In order to save money, businesses will look into many options. One of
these is to outsource jobs to foreign countries. Outsourcing jobs can save businesses tremendous
amounts of money but can ultimately hurt the economy here in America.
Companies need to turn a profit in order to continue to stay in business, that s a no brainer. One
way companies are lowering costs is by outsourcing jobs to foreign ... Show more content on

America consumes more than it produces. With the deficit unable to be scaled down and the
current economic activities continue, this will drive more businesses to outsource more jobs in a
vicious circle. Without consumers in America to purchase products, companies will start to look
elsewhere in order to remain in business. This could lead to companies selling more products
overseas in order to continue to remain profitable and placing more strain on the U.S. economy. A
struggling economy will impact real estate since businesses and home owners cannot afford
mortgages.
Outsourcing jobs will directly affect local vacancies in office space and industrial settings.
Without new buildings for new businesses, new construction will decline and possibly for
workers in these fields to search for jobs overseas and again add to the already growing strain on
the U.S. economy. Some smaller businesses such as restaurants and clothing stores rely on bigger
companies to draw in consumers to their locations. These blue collar jobs will begin to decline or
even disappear

The International Table Tennis Federation
Table tennis is characterized by numerous rules that govern how the game should be played. The
game is mainly characterized by exceptionally fast reactions thereby making rules quite necessary.
Players must allow the ball to bounce once on their side of the court before returning it to the
opposite end. The initial serve is, however, exempted from this requirement. Points are scored if a
team fails to keep the ball in play. The International Table Tennis
Federation (ITTF) instituted some
key changes in the rules of the game following the 2000 Olympics games, which were held in
Sidney, Australia. The amendments were mainly aimed at enhancing the game s viability as a
spectator sport that could be televised. Among the new changes was the increasing of the ball s
diameter to 40 millimeters. Soon thereafter, the ITTF changed the game s scoring system from 21
point to 11 point system (International Table Tennis Federation
, 2014). The serve rotation was also
brought down from five points to two. Soon thereafter, the global federation of the game changed
the rules and effectively prohibited players from hiding balls during service. In keeping with the
sport s spirit of fairness, the rules cushions opponents from being caught by surprise. Rules require
that the ball must be tossed a minimum of 16 centimeters in the air before being served. There are
rules governing the course of events during a match including which team takes the first serve. In
order to highlight the numerous

Legalizing Organ Donation
This article is about allowing the black market of organs to be legalized and regulated, and
discusses how allowing people to sell their organs actually benefit people in medical need of an
organ; essentially patients on the transplantation waiting list (Pietrobon, 2016). The author dissects
the controversial method of regulationand provides evidence to support their argument. In addition,
the author addressed the opposing side, which are against regulation of the market because it is
morally wrong. Ultimately the author shot down the claims due too inevitability of the illegal organ

Suppliers primarily being poor will disproportionately suffer, while the rich counterparts benefits
off poor people s organs, since wealthier families can afford to purchase organs from the market;
contrary to legalization (Pietrobon, 2016). Furthermore, worst off groups do not have health
insurance, and receive no benefits from the market (Pietrobon, 2016). On the other hand, in
support of the market, dialysis is costly; therefore transplantation will not be such a financial
reach (Pietrobon, 2016). As a matter of fact, dialysis has a 45% survival rate, while transplant
patients have an 87% survival rate, and people who never started dialysis live longer than a patient
on dialysis (Pietrobon, 2016). Too, patients who receive a free kidney cannot afford the procedure
to get the kidney physically placed in their body (Pietrobon, 2016). Economically deficient people,

healthcare policy influences interproferssional working in the healthcare sector. I will reflect
upon a practice based situation related to a service user and discuss how this is linked to the
policy Our health, our care, our say (Department of Health, 2006). I will also provide a self
assessment of my current level of development using the Interprofessional Capability
Framework. Our health, our care, our say is a policy published by the Department of Health in
2006 which aims to provide a more effective health and social care service in the community
outside of hospital. It s main aims are to improve community based care, enable health
independence and well being, provide better access to general practice and community services,
and greater support for people with long term health conditions. It sets out the government s vision
for high quality support meeting people s aspirations for independence and greater control over
their lives, making service flexible and responsive to individual needs. This policy really highlights
the need for an improved, person centred healthcare service in the community, bringing together
different interprofessional teams to provide quality care for the service user. The practice based

Sugar Cultivation During The Nineteenth Century Essay
In the British Caribbean during the seventeenth and eighteenth century, sugar cultivation came into
existence as the Europeans slowly moved away from the production of tobacco. This was done
for two main reasons; the first being, the Europeans saw how lucrative the production of the
sugarcane crop can be for them and secondly, it would have significantly reduced the cost of
sweeteners for both men and women of British descent. Honey, being the only substitution for
sugar at the time, was considered to be very expensive and as a result an alternative was needed. In
order for this production system to be fully adopted, the Europeans required a labour force that
could endure the hardships associated with toiling in the sugar plantation. This is where the
enslaved Africans were introduced. To the Europeans, Africans were considered to be much more
effective because in their view they were seen as having no soul. These Africans were taken from
the West African coast primarily around the Senegal River and Angola, (Campbell 1) placed upon
slave ships and brought into the Caribbeanto be sold to different estate owners or managers. From
then onwards, this was the introduction of slaveryand as such this essay would be based upon the
book entitled Beyond Massa. This book was written by John F. Campbell, a historian and current
History lecturer at the University of the West Indies, which is located at the St. Augustine Campus

even describe him a tommy gun toting Robin Hood. Miraculously, he managed to sweet talk the

Charlie Birger and his gang. Mr. DeNeal states that Charlie and his gang fit right into a violent

The Importance of International Commercial Arbitration Essay
Introduction
International commercial arbitration is one of the most important legal institutions in international
private law. This conclusion follows from the fact that the nature of arbitration depends largely on
autonomy of the parties, who choose arbitration procedure as the procedure in which the dispute
will be settled; place where the arbitration is to be held; arbitral tribunal etc. Probably the most
important and considerable expression of the autonomy is the right to choose the law, which is to
be applied to merits of the dispute. The chosen applicable law guarantees in large measure

of law made by the parties. The significance of the selected research topic can be explained by the
fact that international commercial arbitral proceedings is widely used by the parties of commercial
transactions as the effective method of dispute settlement and the issue of applicable law to the
merits of the dispute is one of the main which the arbitral tribunal has to decide.
Conclusion
The nature of international commercial arbitration has a close connection to the party autonomy,
which is also expressed in the right of the parties to choose the law that is to be applied by the
arbitrators to the dispute between them. The same right is given to the parties concerning the
arbitration agreement.
Firstly, the choice of law applicable to the substance of the dispute which the parties have made
can be either express or implied and if such choice took place the arbitrators have to apply it.
Without any indications concerning choice of applicable law, an arbitral tribunal has to determine
such law through the searching of proper

The Case Of Elonis V. United States
Judiciary Assignment While, reading the case, Elonis v. United States, I was astonished to see
that someone would post something so explicit, offensive, and inhumane. Basically, the case of
Elonis v. United States is about a man named Anthony Elonis who is an upcoming rapper and
used his stage name, Tone Dougie. His Facebook page consisted of him posting disturbing rap
lyrics. Even though Elonis was going through a divorce with his former wife, which did not stop
him from writing and posting crude lyrics. Eventually, it got to the point where his wife felt that
she was being targeted by his lyrics. According to an article on, New York Times, Elonis wrote
that he wanted to see a Halloween costume that included his wife s head on a stick. Obviously, she
felt threatened and reported the assaults to the police. Anthony Elonis was convicted for posting
threats that targeted his wife, his coworkers, police officers, a kindergarten class, and even an FBI
agent. Although Elonis argued that his posting are not considered to be a true threat and that he is
protected under the First Amendment. I believe he wanted to cause fear towards his wife, Tara and
therefore, is his lyrics are a true threat. Basically, a true threat is defined as something a person
would consider to be purposely harmful and cause pain. Elonis mentioned that his post were not
offended nor were the threatening anybody. He stated that he did not have the intent of trying to
harm anyone, he was just trying

Army Transformation Essay
The Army has transformed several times during its history. Adapting to the operational environment
is a necessity for the force called upon to prosecute its adversaries. The Army must do what is
necessary to protect the U.S. against all enemies, and advance the national interests of the American
people. To accomplish this, anticipation of threats is crucial and victory against its adversaries is
an imperative. The nation relies on the military for strategic level deterrence and expects that it will
be decisive in combat operations. For the military to be successful, it is important that

Likewise, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor caused the U.S. Navy to transform doctrine as well.
Not every example of transformation works in every situation. The German Blitzkrieg worked in
France, where the distance from their lines of support were short. Conversely, this speed driven
technique did not work in Russia where time and distance became an adversary for the Germans.
During the interwar years, many European countries invested much into transforming their
militaries following lessons learned from World WarI. France is a prime example of a country that
invested into lessons from the previous war rather than developing a vision for potential future
events by spending billions of dollars increasing its Artillery and on building the Maginot line. As
history demonstrates, this investment would probably have worked fine during the previous war
but did not stop an attack by a German enemy that did transform for the future fight.
Why a Transformation
Though the concept of war has changed little through time, its conduct varies depending upon many
factors, which include but are not limited to demographics, political issues, and technology. To be
successful in combat, an Army must envision and adapt to these concerns. The dilemma, however,
to transformation can be the high cost of training, developing, and implementing the change.
Without a tangible reason for the change or a

Tropical Delight Softdrinks
Problem Statement Tropical Delight Soft drinks is a small Canadian company that has a narrow
line of drinks with only three flavours that was relatively unknown in the Canadian market but
popular in markets of parts of Asia, South Asia and Tropical countries.
Situation Analysis
Strengths The soft drinks were made with 30% real juice, which is more appealing to consumers
who want natural flavours. The products were healthy and contain real fruit juices. Although the
company had a small market share, their sales increased steadily over the years. Weaknesses They

Option 3 Breakeven Analysis Total FC $190,000/.55 contribution costs = 345,454.55 units
By using option 1 TDS will sell 116,666.67 units more in 2003 considering is they don t make any

option 2 and make a loss of (54,545.45 units) for option 3.
Key Decision Criteria To evaluate the alternatives, the key factors would be costs of setting up in
other cities within Canada and if it will generate more sales by setting up there. If by expanding,
more sales, more market shares and profits are generated then it is better to expand in that specific
city but if the costs of setting up there are more than the amount of sales you will make in that city
then it is better not to set up there.
Implementation
The best alternative to take would be to expand in the city that has the majority minority
population, which is to expand in other cities like Toronto. Due to the high demand for tropical
food and drinks, there is a need and thus can create large sales. Because these products will be

The Skinner s Theory Of Self Awareness, And Moral...
B.F Skinner was one of the most intelligence physiologist and a man who borderline on
frightening traits for a physiologist when it came to creating learning theories, due to his cruelty
towards his experiments and the way he view society structured. Learning theories can be viewed
as mental concepts informing human beings or society, how information is gathered, processed,
and how individuals retained it during learning concepts. Skinner created concepts such as
conditioned behavior, positive reinforcement, and punishments for children who behavior was
viewed as menacing. This term is known as time out for children today, their own version of the
Pandora box if parents choose that path. Moreover, as a radical psychologist among his fellow
peers in their field, Skinner departs from certain beliefs that challenge the notions of self awareness
and moral autonomy of the individual. These particular main philosophies of science are known as
dignity and free will. Skinner main cogent contribution to psychologywas his theory that the
consequences we suffer in our human lives, are directly tied to our behavior along with our
environment. As a behaviorismwho supports deterministic behaviorism, Skinner view free will as
unrealistic theory. To illustrate, individuals can make their own ideals or choices, whether to act
on their desires by going against the law or not. That does not apply to medically insane or young

Feminism During the Enlightenment in MoliГЁre s Tartuffe
Women have been the most discriminated against group of people in the entire history of
humankind. They have been abused, held back in society, and oftentimes restricted to the home life,
leading dull, meaningless lives while men make sure the world goes round. It seems strange that
half of the world s population could be held down so long; ever since the dawn of humanity,
women have been treated like second class citizens. Only in the past 100 years or so have women
started to win an equal place in society in the Western world. However, the fight for equality has
not been a short one. The seeds of the liberation movement were planted hundreds of years ago, by

unknowingly adopted his hypocrisy. She treats her own family in the worst of ways, being both
smug and argumentative at the same time. Mme. Pernelle obviously does not embrace the Christian
virtues of kindness and love for one another.
Madame Pernelle knows her station in life as set forth by society. The reader can assume that
she is an older lady and has been brought up in social circles. Despite being a widow, she does not
seem to possess great independence. Her harsh words to her family members preach traditional
values, such as leaving business matters and advice to the men, but merely uttering those words in
mixed company she pushes against the societal walls. She may not have a great sense of
independence, but she does express her opinion, and even argues with men, namely Cleante and

Mme. Pernelle butts heads with Elmire, Orgon s wife. Elmire is the most sensible member of
the household, and she is probably the strongest voice of reason in the entire work. Her head is
firmly planted on her shoulders. She sees straight through Tartuffe s guise of piety and openly

Macbeth s Heroic Manhood
In Shakespeare s Macbeth, heroic manhood is shown as a violent combat zone where men are
obligated to gain honor through violence at whatever cost. The heroic man is seen as dominant,
powerful, and influential in Macbeth s times. In battle, the man has a chance to portray his
masculinity by violently destroying all in his path. The society and culture value brutality over
temperance. Therefore, society s idea of manhood has the ability to even make men go against their
morals for the purpose of procuring the ideal manhood. This struggle for a male to conform to the
ideal of manhood endorsed by the culture and society is portrayed through the protagonist Macbeth.
In the opening scene of the play, Macbeth is described as a hero with all the necessary attributes
of a great warrior. Like no other on the battlefield, he is depicted having superhuman strength as he
fights mercilessly to defend his kingdom (I.2.15 23). However, once he is ... Show more content on

Common Causes Of World War I
Through two world wars, there have been many similarities and differences over the course of
this time. It is easy to discuss both wars and how it changed the world, but when comparing
common causes of the war the overall common factors are the imperialism and nationalism that
caused these devastating wars to take place, along with instability both economically and
politically all over the world right before the wars took place. There is so much background
history leading up to what started both tragic wars and it is important to highlight factors like the
economics and politics leading up to the war and the economic life and politics taking place
during both world wars along with the leaders that got these wars to go from a war between a
couple countries to a war affecting countries all over the world.
Even though this was not a cause of the war it is important to note that in both World War Iand in
World War II there were sides that were chosen. It was a battle of the Central Powers against the
Allies. The Central Powers were made up of Germany, the Ottoman Empire, and Austria. While the

The Working For A Major Cola Company
We were assigned the ultimate task of finding the phosphoric acid in several rival sodas for this
experiment but to get there it required many steps to be taken in advance. As we were a working
for a major cola company it was crucial that we were aware of how to use the technology and
then more importantly the relationships between all the findings we made through numerous
experiments. Our main source of technology was a spectrophotometer so in order to move
forward in finding anything out about the colas we had to learn how to use this Spec 20. After
looking at the machine and doing research we determined that by using the Spec 20 we would be
able to get values of both absorbance and % Transmittance for a solution. The Spec 20 is able to
give these values by shining a lightbeam through a solution and measuring the intensity before and
after it has passed through the solution.1 After doing research we were able to put the machine to
use in order to get first hand experience of how to use the machine and to get an understanding of
the relationships between results present by the spectrophotometer. Food coloring was the subject
of our first tests with the Spec 20 and our group choose the colors red and blue. Along with the
food coloring we would also be running Potassium Permanganatethrough the machine. By sending
light beams of different wavelengths through the solutions we were able to find the absorbance of
each solution shown in Table 1 as well as the relationship

Stereotypes In The Last Of The Mohicans
Despite the historical significance that the Indigenous people had on the foundation of the United
States of America, the willful cultural ignorance concerning Native Americans is continuous in film
and pop culture across all modern broadcast media. Beginning in the early stages of colonization in
North America, the depiction of Natives was perpetually negative; encounters with early white
immigrants dating back to the Colonial era eventually coined them the nickname savages , which is
an epithet that has lingered for centuries ( European Americans and Native Americans View Each

This predominantly accepted stereotype appears in a variety of films and is supported when the
Natives in Hollywood are dressed as warriors, preserving the savage image (Boyd 106). In The
Last of the Mohicans, a 1936 film based on the historical novel The Last of the Mohicans: A
Narrative of 1757 by James Fenimore Cooper, the intense bloody battles between Natives,
English, and French were the highlight of the film (Cotton 11). In addition to being characterized
as violent, Natives are often two dimensional and lack character development, which furthers the
stereotypes that were put in place centuries prior. Natives repeatedly portray the sidekick role to
white men as well, and this is especially prevalent in the 2013 action film The Lone Ranger,
where a Native boy, Tonto, plays the companion of John Reid ( The Lone Ranger (2013) ). These
inaccurate clichГ©s remain incessant when closely observed, as Native American tribes are almost

Assuming that consumers are most concerned with their own self interest, the demand for goods
that are the most useful or helpful for society will arise. Assuming, also, that producers are most
concerned with their own self interest, they will further their own cause by striving to produce
those goods which will be the most useful to society at the lowest possible cost. Many economists
have debated that capitalism is practical because it allows each individual to align their actions with
their own thoughts, instead of acting under the demands of bureaucrats. A multitude of minds
attack each problem under capitalism. The successful thinkers thrive because they are able to see
the opportunities that the other thinkers do not.
They think of new products and come up with more efficient production methods which are

Role Of Indians In Colonial American History

Wireless Networking And Its Impact On The World
In 2016, the majority of networking is done wirelessly. Advancements in technology over the
past ten to fifteen years has allowed us to network wirelessly anywhere in the world. There are
remote areas in the world that do not allow wireless networking due to resources being
unavailable, at least for now. The world of networking is continuously growing. I would predict
that with initiatives such as Facebook s WiFi Drone, WiFi will be available everywhere in the
world no matter your location. The term WiFi is a trademark of the WiFi alliance, a trade
association who promotes LAN technologies and certifies products. The term WiFi was adopted
in 1999 as a branding term. It is an acronym for wireless fidelity. Any device that has a stamp of
WiFi certification must meet the IEEE 802.11standards meaning that the devices capabilities are
compatible with other certified devices. In 1985, the FCC released what is known as the ISM

Dorrington. A nonfiction piece of emotion, so not actually true. It portrays a feeling of what he
felt as many others when Cecil was killed. After it begins to explain what would have happened
if someone were to want to buy game off of National organizations. In Africa s case; There s only
two places on the earth where wildlife at a large scale has actually increased in the 20th century,
and those are North America and southern Africa, [said Rosie Cooney, a zoologist who is the
chairwoman of the International Union for Conservation of Nature s Sustainable Use and
Livelihoods Specialist Group. Both of those models of conservation were built around hunting. ] So
it s acceptable as a sport but when you think about organizations taking almost extinct animals and
using that district as something for fun you decrease the animal species, whereas when you look
where there are animal perseverations the large scale has actually increases.

The Importance Of Civil Rights In The NFL Players
Players from the National Football League(NFL) are taking a stand for the violation of civil
rights in our country. This started to be an issue when Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the
playing of the national anthem. In many eyes, the ways these NFL players are expressing their
opinion is very frowned upon. It has snowballed into a heated viewpoint of the NFL and has
many fans boycotting. The NFL stars are protesting violations in civil rights in an unpopular
fashion because the national anthem is not the problem rather than the events occurring in our
country, there are alternate ways to protest, and tv ratings are crashing. The national anthem is
not the problem rather than the events occurring in our country. Colin Kaepernick said, I am not
going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of
color, (Wyche, 2016). With his decision to kneel during the anthem it has lead to many
problems associated with the NFL. Problems associated with his decision to kneel includes tv
ratings and merchandise sells of the NFL are at an all time low. Another problem is that teams
are afraid to sign Colin Kaepernick and get in the middle of all of the controversy surrounding
him. The reason he chose to kneel during the anthem is that he has the right to exercise whether or
not he participate. He was eager in his attempts to prove a point and get his message across. Some
may feel he has done an excellent job while others are very unhappy

Dual Language Learners Essay
Although all the strategies help me further understand dual language learners, there are a couple
that stand out. Let me start with strategy, planning 5. This strategy helped me to better
understand that it is not only beneficial to pick a book that is related to the academic objective,
but also a book that the children can relate to. When picking a book most teachers as well as I
usually go for the books based on the academic objective. Which is great, but when you pick a
book the children can relate to. It helps them to engage and participate more. It also helps with
the discussion, because they are listening they can understand the story. therefore, eager to
answer the questions when ask. Now when I choose a book to read I make sure it is relatable to the
kids. One change I made when I m doing my lesson plans, is picking the books I know the
children s like and relate to and see how I can fit them in the lesson plan.... Show more content on

I used self and parallel talk all the time in my classroom, but it increased tremendously ever since
I did the lesson. I used it to foster positive behaviors as well as redirect the children. I usually
used it during meal time and sometimes outside. I found it beneficial for the students, because it
brings awareness to what they are doing and they respond to it very well. Self and parallel talk
help my DLLS to communicate more. Because they are still learning the language, self and parallel
talk help introduce new vocabularies to them in a fun way. When I m outdoor pulling the wagon or
inside during snack naming the fruits they are eating, that helps them to know the names.
Therefore, next time when they are eating the same type of fruits they say or mumble the

Food Security Is A Basic Human Right, Essential For Life
Food security is considered as a basic human right, essential for life. It exists when all people, at all
times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary
needs and food preferences for a healthy and active lifestyle [Food Agricultural Organization (FAO),
1996]. Food insecurity can refer to not having sufficient food; experiencing hunger as a result of
running
out of food and being unable to afford more; eating a poor quality diet as a result of limited food
options;
anxiety about acquiring food; or having to rely on food relief (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003).
Although the United States population is considered food secure as a whole, with 85.7% being food
secure (Coleman Jensen, Gregory Singh, 2014), pockets of food insecurity have been identified
among
sub populations such as single parent households (34.4%), people at social or geographical
disadvantage (26%), the homeless and the young (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003; Innes Hughes,
Bowers, King, Chapman, Eden, 2010).
According to National Center for Education Statistics (2013), enrollment of students 18 24 years in
degree granting institutions increased from 15.9 million in 2001 to 21 million in 2011. Many
students live
on low incomes and have unique expenses, such as high tuition, cost of textbooks, healthcare cost
and
other instructional expenses such as housing that increase their cost of living relative to other young

Empress Wu Zetian And Queen Elizabeth I
All throughout history and in different regions of the world, ambitious female rulers have
discovered that their greatest challenge was to overcome society s negative perception of
women gaining power. As did all rulers, female leaders also had to overcome obstacles in times
of political disorder in order to gain power. The theme of a female ruler s ability to overcome
challenges in times of political turmoil has manifested similarly and differently in the rule of
Chinese Empress Wu Zetianand England s Queen Elizabeth I. The megalomaniacal Wu Zetian has
garnered sizable attention for being the first and only empress of China, her devious methods to
gain the title, and violent tendencies to keep it. Queen Elizabeth has been praised for becoming...

Confucians continued to loathe Wu Zetian even after declaring herself empress and tension was
rapidly rising with constant fear of rebellion. Wu Zetian attempted to combat Confucians by
promoting Buddhism to be the official religion of China through the mass construction of Buddhist
temples, invitation of scholars, and the creation of cave sculptures. The purpose of the policy was
to make her a legitimate ruler in the eyes of the new converted Buddhists. As a result, Confucians
further detested her as she tried to spread a contrasting religion and remove Confucianism as the
state philosophy. Furthermore, the public, aside from the highly Confucian followers, began to
now see her as a legitimate ruler as the new philosophy supported her rule. Similarly, Queen
Elizabeth faced domestic problems with the disunity within the Anglican Church, an important part
of English society. According to the Act of Uniformity issued by Queen Elizabeth, a Common
Book of Prayer was decreed that eventually fixed the variation of prayers in churches across
England. As a result, there was less conflict and debate between people over whose way of
practicing was correct and people felt a sense of unity as now all followed the same practices.
Furthermore, the Act helped strengthen the church as an establishment through its unification of
the people, which helped Elizabeth gain her strongest

The article Opinions and Social Pressure by Solomon E Asch is about how people conform to
social norms and how social learning is a large part of everyday life. Asch begins by explaining
how social norms and pressures allow people to learn how to function within society from learning
a language to understanding cultural aspects. The majority of the article describes series of
experiments in which subjects are asked to match lines of the same size. The experiments presented
throughout the article describe different settings and independent variables. The majority of the
experiments conclude that people conform to the majority s opinion to different degrees regardless

Mexican Food Origin
1.In the US, there are various types of foods whose origin can be traced from the Mexican
recipe. Two of the regional foods that have the original possibility of the Mexico are the Taco
Bell and Burritos. These are prepared using seasoned beef, beans, tangy red sauce, the lettuce,
tomatoes, sour cream and onions. However, the dish is recently replaced with different
ingredients hence giving a different recipe from the original one. In today s Mexican foods
served in the US, the modifications are done on Tacos where the beef served is now grounded,
presence of hard corn shell and shredded cheese. To the Burrito, the ancient Mexican food

Why Is Araby Important
S.S.S #1 (Araby) There is a force so powerful that it can control lives, this force is love. In the
short story Araby, the nameless boy has fallen in love for an unnamed girl, who is Mangan s
sister, after moving to Dublin, Ireland. Each morning the boy will watch her through the front
window in the parlour and quickly grab his books to walk behind her ,through their dull village,
all the way to the point at which their paths diverge. Araby is about a young boy whom is not
named who moves into a house in Dublin, Ireland. The previous tenant, an Irish priest, had died
in the drawing room and left his belongings to his sister and the house had a quite musty smell as
it had not been inhabited for quite some time. The family had moved in and as time went by, the
boy made friends at his school, Christian Brother s School, which was located within walking
distance. The neighbors had a beautiful daughter ,whom is also not named but is the sister of
Mangan, and each morning the boy would watch her leave her house from the window in the
front parlour and grab his books so that he could walk behind her quietly until their paths
diverged at which point he would quicken his pace and pass her. One day when the boy was
walking behind her, she stopped and asked him if he was going to Araby, the eastern bazaar that
came to near Dublin each year, as she could not go because she had already made a commitment to
a school retreat. The boy was so stunned that he did not know what to say and

The Military Force of Thailand
As far as we are concerned, unlike other Asian countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and others,
Thailand military forces portrayed a significant concern pertaining to internal turbulence within
Thailand. (Simon, 2000, p. 13) This is because, for several decades, since communist aggression
and until todays, internal security has become the main core focus of Thailandmilitaryforces in the
aspects of defence and security of Thailand (Taylor, 2013, p. 12); compared to other aspects such as
external defence. Before discussing or deliberating the roles of Thailand military forces in internal
security, it is better for us to understand the definition of internal security because it might raise
confusion as it both aspects are associated closely with the national interest of a country. As coined
by the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste National Parliament (2003), internal security is defined
as an activity or program advanced by the State (Government) with the aims to guarantee order,
security and public peacefulness, to safeguards people and goods, to prevent law breaking and
contribute to guarantee the normal functioning of the democratic institutions. Through this clear
definition, it is clear that external security and internal security are different with each other. In
Thailand, the military undertook a crucial role of internal security pertaining to the Burmese
refugees and insurgency in the southernmost of Thailand insurgency by the Malay Muslim
insurgent. (Taylor,

Industrialization Vs Industrialization
Industrialization had better effects on men and women of the upper and middle classes, than
with the men and women of the working classes. Industrialization began in Europe, at the time
there was a large rise in population. The population of London grew from 750,000 to 9 million in
just two years (11/9). Due to the large growth in population, people were forced to develop new
ideas such as new productions of energy and multiple story buildings. The number of factories
grew exponentially and as a result, the massive extraction of nonrenewable raw materials to feed
and to fuel industrial machinery...altered the landscape in many places (Strayer, 568). The
production of factories and work created migration to urban areas, during this time middle class
people began needing servants. People of the upper class would have anywhere from three to four
clothing changes per day, and it was typical for their staff to consist of forty to one hundred people.
Considering the size of the staff, upper classhousing had to be large enough for the staff and
family to live in, and not see each other (11/9). This was a very different way of living from those
in the working class. Living conditions were better for those in the upper and middle classes than
those in the working class, and some ideas presented in the age of Enlightenment carried over into
the Industrial Revolution.
During the time of the Industrialization, the central value of the middle class culture was

For the third assignment of WRTG 101, the task was to write a research supported cause or effect
essay. I chose to write a research supported effect essay on human resource management titled The
Effects of Human Resource Management Practices on Employee Turnover. The assignment
requirements asked for the use of a certain amount of scholarly journal articles that supported the
thesis of the paper. I believe that my researchessay turned out successfully because I was able to

Furthermore, there was a requirement of at least three sources to come from scholarly journals.
As we learned during the course of WRTG 101, a scholarly journal article is an in depth research
article written by authors who are experts with significant knowledge in the subject area.
Additionally, universities or professional associations commonly publish scholarly journal
articles ( Identify Scholarly Journals , n.d.). The primary databases I searched were UMUC
Information and Library Services interface Business Source Complete and ScienceDirect. I also
utilized the UMUC Library OneSearch and added the ABI/INFORM Complete as an additional
database resource. In addition to the UMUC Library I also used the Google Scholar web search
engine and sources found on the free web. When deciding on whether to include sources found
on the free web, I evaluated the web site s author and accuracy ( Evaluate Web Resources , n.d.).
I used sources from the free web sparingly and instead focused on scholarly sources. After
fulfilling the requirement of three scholarly sources, I continued to primarily look for scholarly
sources to establish and support my argument. I started my search with the use of search terms
such as Human Resource Management , Employee Turnover , High Turnover , and HRM Practices
. To find more refined results, I incorporated the Boolean operator AND

How Did Belgium Take The Congo Away From African Imperialism
Have you ever felt like you were being treated the same ways that Africans are being treated?
Africans were being treated badly and unfairly as slaves by the Belgians. Belgians used fear to
control the Africans and make them work for their profit. Africa was separated by Belgium without
the approval of Africans. European colonizers killed Africans and also culture. Colonialism has
negatively impacted African cultures by separating the continent without Africas permission and
treating Africans like they were not people. Africans were being treated badly and also unfairly

felt like Africans did not deserve the congo. They also took all of Africa s resources because
they felt like Africa did not deserve those resources. African had a lot of good resources like gold,
silver, diamonds, and oil. According to source 1, there was a snake with a human face attacking an
African male. The snake symbolizes the king and it was attacking an African male symbolizing that

Appearance Vs Reality Research Paper
Reality? What Reality?
Meditation can be a double edged tool. It can reveal the nature of actual reality, but in doing so it
also reveals many other states of consciousness that we experience as real but are not usually
aware of their true nature, depending on our present level of awareness. So, while meditation can
show us true reality, in the process we may realize that we have been living in a conceptual
representation of reality for perhaps years or even a whole lifetime.
Many of those who pursue meditation as a means of achieving self realization or self awareness
reach a point where they suddenly begin to perceive on an intuitive level, a truth that is fundamental
to their well being and sense of self and security, at which point some choose to continue and some
choose to discontinue the journey of meditation. In fact, this is a well known obstacle in meditation
that has to do with the true nature of reality and our perception or lack of perception of what is real.
Who Or What Is Aware
Suppose we go on an intellectual version of an actual meditation experience. We are sitting in a
quiet room surrounded by the familiar objects of our life. We place a candle on a low table before
where we intend to sit and meditate. There is little light in the room and we light the candle before
us and begin to sit quietly slowly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This particular meditation discipline is about achieving enlightenment through insight. Perceiving
awareness as a threat is a sure sign that we are not living in the real world but rather some
conceptual reality produced by our own minds ability to imagine and create mental constructs of
what is real. And with a long enough exposure to this, we will of course begin to believe and
experience it as real. That is, as long as we don t attempt to develop any true level of awareness
though something like meditation which would eventually reveal the

  • 2. Sexual Violence and The Adam Walsh Act Sexual assault occurs every two minutes in the United States. Sexual violence against women is still endemic in the United States. Statistics show nearly one in five women have been sexually assaulted. Managing sex offenders is still an issue in the criminal justice system. Repeat offenders are extremely difficult to monitor. The national legislature monitoring system contains an absence of effective research in monitoring sex offenders. Sexual offender registration and notification Act (SORNA) operates in all the US states and territories. The objective is to monitor and track sex offenders by law enforcement. Also they provide information to the public and the communities about the offenders. For example, the National registry allows the public to be informed of a registered offender and their demographics. The Adam Walsh Act (AWA) was instilled to create greater uniformity in SORNA systems in all the US states and territories. SORNA is an essential component of the AWA. The act requires standardizing the registration of sex offenders, and community notification practices. There are two ways notification is practiced for registered sex offenders. Communities vary in which way to notify residents. Some communities choose active notification. Active notification is where residents are informed that a registered sex offender lives nearby. Residents are notified by phone, mail, or face to face. The other form of notification that is practiced is called passive notification. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Essay about Stakeholders of the Offshore Wind Company Stakeholders of the Offshore Wind Company A business s stakeholders are the people who are affected by the actions of the business. In this case, the Offshore Wind Company (ltd). In this piece, I am looking to investigate the importance of shareholders, their interests, environmental thoughts, and their adverse to success. Stakeholders are very important in today s modern society, as they can hold the key to the company s success. They take care of the financial issues, and decisions made by and for the company. The six main stakeholders are Financiers, Pressure groups, Suppliers, Employees, Owners, and, of course, the Local Community. Stakeholders can range from central... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A typical example would be environmental pressure groups, protesting against wind turbines on the coast. This could be because the seabed would be disturbed and damaged, and the local fishing would be disrupted. Suppliers like to be consulted beforehand also, as this gives them time to prepare the produce so as its ready for the Offshore Wind Company when they want it. If it weren t ready when the Company need it, they might look somewhere else for supplies, so the suppliers wouldn t get their income capital. Local community could be against the wind turbines ruining the countryside and view. This is why stakeholders like to be consulted before any big decisions are made. Success is also another big issue for shareholders. For those such as owners, shareholders, employees, suppliers and financiers it is incredibly important because if the Offshore Wind Company doesn t succeed, they don t get paid. The employees would probably loose their jobs, the owners business would fold, along with the shareholders loosing all their money, the suppliers wouldn t get paid back, and nor would the financiers. It s a bit different in the case if Local community and pressure groups though, because it goes a bit both ways. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Freedom in Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground Essay Freedom in Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground In Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground, the Underground Man proposes a radically different conception of free action from that of Kant. While Kant thinks that an agent is not acting freely unless he acts for some reason, the Underground Man seems to take the opposite stance: the only way to be truly autonomous is to reject this notion of freedom, and to affirm one s right to act for no reason. I will argue that the Underground Man s notion of freedom builds on Kant s, in that it requires self consciousness in decision making. But he breaks from Kant when he makes the claim that acting for a reason is not enough, and only provides an illusion of freedom. When faced with the two options of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So far, the Underground Man and Kant are in agreement. However, Kant believes that the endorsement of desires consists of having a reason to act on that desire, a reason based on what we perceive as some good. The type of good is unspecified it could anything from the satisfaction of egoistic aims to the betterment of the human race. What is important is that we establish for ourselves what type of good on which to base our reasons. Free action is impossible unless we formulate our reasons independently; more specifically, we must decide for ourselves what is a good reason for acting. Although the Underground Man agrees that we must formulate our own reasons, he rejects the notion that reasons based on any concept of a perceived good can ever really be our own. This rejection of reasons as a basis for autonomy stems from his belief that freedom is virtually impossible in a largely deterministic and evolutionary universe, where everything is determined by the laws of nature to which he constantly refers. The Underground Man believes that the feeling of freedom engendered by acting for a reason as opposed to acting blindly is an illusion. He says of men with limited consciousness that Г¬they take immediate and secondary causes for primary ones, and in this way they are more quickly and easily convinced than others that they have discovered an indisputable basis for their activityГ® (19). They must first create a product that is in demand. After this product is created, other concerns will start to arise such as manufacturing, distribution, overhead, competition and marketing just to name a few. All of these things lead down to one thing, money. In order to save money, businesses will look into many options. One of these is to outsource jobs to foreign countries. With the deficit unable to be scaled down and the current economic activities continue, this will drive more businesses to outsource more jobs in a vicious circle. This could lead to companies selling more products overseas in order to continue to remain profitable and placing more strain on the U.S. economy. A struggling economy will impact real estate since businesses and home owners cannot afford mortgages. Outsourcing jobs will directly affect local vacancies in office space and industrial settings. Without new buildings for new businesses, new construction will decline and possibly for workers in these fields to search for jobs overseas and again add to the already growing strain on the U.S. economy. • 10. The International Table Tennis Federation Table tennis is characterized by numerous rules that govern how the game should be played. The game is mainly characterized by exceptionally fast reactions thereby making rules quite necessary. Players must allow the ball to bounce once on their side of the court before returning it to the opposite end. The initial serve is, however, exempted from this requirement. Points are scored if a team fails to keep the ball in play. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) instituted some key changes in the rules of the game following the 2000 Olympics games, which were held in Sidney, Australia. The amendments were mainly aimed at enhancing the game s viability as a spectator sport that could be televised. Among the new changes was the increasing of the ball s diameter to 40 millimeters. Soon thereafter, the ITTF changed the game s scoring system from 21 point to 11 point system (International Table Tennis Federation , 2014). The serve rotation was also brought down from five points to two. Soon thereafter, the global federation of the game changed the rules and effectively prohibited players from hiding balls during service. In keeping with the sport s spirit of fairness, the rules cushions opponents from being caught by surprise. Rules require that the ball must be tossed a minimum of 16 centimeters in the air before being served. There are rules governing the course of events during a match including which team takes the first serve. In order to highlight the numerous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author dissects the controversial method of regulationand provides evidence to support their argument. In addition, the author addressed the opposing side, which are against regulation of the market because it is morally wrong. • 15. Sugar Cultivation During The Nineteenth Century Essay In the British Caribbean during the seventeenth and eighteenth century, sugar cultivation came into existence as the Europeans slowly moved away from the production of tobacco. This was done for two main reasons; the first being, the Europeans saw how lucrative the production of the sugarcane crop can be for them and secondly, it would have significantly reduced the cost of sweeteners for both men and women of British descent. Honey, being the only substitution for sugar at the time, was considered to be very expensive and as a result an alternative was needed. In order for this production system to be fully adopted, the Europeans required a labour force that could endure the hardships associated with toiling in the sugar plantation. This is where the enslaved Africans were introduced. To the Europeans, Africans were considered to be much more effective because in their view they were seen as having no soul. These Africans were taken from the West African coast primarily around the Senegal River and Angola, (Campbell 1) placed upon slave ships and brought into the Caribbeanto be sold to different estate owners or managers. Our main source of technology was a spectrophotometer so in order to move forward in finding anything out about the colas we had to learn how to use this Spec 20. It is through Faulkner s use of stream of consciousness narration that the reader is aware of Sarty s innermost thoughts and feelings. Stereotypes In The Last Of The Mohicans Despite the historical significance that the Indigenous people had on the foundation of the United States of America, the willful cultural ignorance concerning Native Americans is continuous in film and pop culture across all modern broadcast media. Beginning in the early stages of colonization in North America, the depiction of Natives was perpetually negative; encounters with early white immigrants dating back to the Colonial era eventually coined them the nickname savages , which is an epithet that has lingered for centuries ( European Americans and Native Americans View Each Other, 1700 1775. ). In The Last of the Mohicans, a 1936 film based on the historical novel The Last of the Mohicans: A Narrative of 1757 by James Fenimore Cooper, the intense bloody battles between Natives, English, and French were the highlight of the film (Cotton 11). In addition to being characterized as violent, Natives are often two dimensional and lack character development, which furthers the stereotypes that were put in place centuries prior. Natives repeatedly portray the sidekick role to white men as well, and this is especially prevalent in the 2013 action film The Lone Ranger, where a Native boy, Tonto, plays the companion of John Reid ( The Lone Ranger (2013) ). These inaccurate clichГ©s remain incessant when closely observed, as Native American tribes are almost always spotted on reservations or in the wilderness yet another misconception. Capitalism is the most central and consequential topic which has to do with business. The ideals of capitalism, over time, have faced much scrutiny. Many great minds within the past two centuries have discredited capitalism, for the virtues of socialism and the whole of society. It is my intent to put forth a moral justification of the ideals behind capitalism. Assuming, also, that producers are most concerned with their own self interest, they will further their own cause by striving to produce those goods which will be the most useful to society at the lowest possible cost. Many economists have debated that capitalism is practical because it allows each individual to align their actions with their own thoughts, instead of acting under the demands of bureaucrats. A multitude of minds attack each problem under capitalism. The successful thinkers thrive because they are able to see the opportunities that the other thinkers do not. They think of new products and come up with more efficient production methods which are innovative to their field. It exists when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for a healthy and active lifestyle [Food Agricultural Organization (FAO), 1996]. Food insecurity can refer to not having sufficient food; experiencing hunger as a result of running out of food and being unable to afford more; eating a poor quality diet as a result of limited food options; anxiety about acquiring food; or having to rely on food relief (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003). The purpose of the policy was to make her a legitimate ruler in the eyes of the new converted Buddhists. As a result, Confucians further detested her as she tried to spread a contrasting religion and remove Confucianism as the state philosophy. Industrialization began in Europe, at the time there was a large rise in population. The population of London grew from 750,000 to 9 million in just two years (11/9). Due to the large growth in population, people were forced to develop new ideas such as new productions of energy and multiple story buildings. It can reveal the nature of actual reality, but in doing so it also reveals many other states of consciousness that we experience as real but are not usually aware of their true nature, depending on our present level of awareness. So, while meditation can show us true reality, in the process we may realize that we have been living in a conceptual representation of reality for perhaps years or even a whole lifetime.
