Linear Programming, An Objective, Constraints, Alternative...
In order to run an organization to its best ability, operations managers can rely on linear
programming as a way to guide them in to better decision making in a more confident fashion.
Linear programming gets the most effective use out of an establishment s resources, this is always
the ideal condition for companies, and nobody wants to be knowingly throwing resources down the
drain. In order for an operations manager to successfully administer a linear programmingequation,
the OM must have four requirements: an objective, constraints, alternative and linearity. An
objective, because linear programming is formulated to maximize or minimize some quantity, this
is also called the objective function. A constraintis required because having infinity options is just
not logical and the OM needs to have boundaries for the objective. The next requirement,
alternative, is needed because without an alternative there would be no question, ergo there would
be no need for linear programming. The final requirement, linearity, is expressed in the equation as
an inequality, it implies proportionality and additivity. Once an OM has these four requirement
they can get to work formulating the linear program. The most common problems are product mix
problems, or two or more products produced using a limited resource. An operations manager
would start by summarizing the information that is required to solve the issue at hand. An easy
way to do this is to have a table with rows and columns

Comparison Of Gen X And Y Generation
Generations As I grew up I realized that my life is very different from the life that my parents
and my grandparents lived and probably will be different from the life my children will live.
Some people say that every generation is different from each other. Throughout history many
generation have been named after something that it s said to describe them in every way, Tim
Urban called the generation I live in the Generation Y or GYPSY s. The generation my parents
lived in was called Generation Xor Baby Boomers. The Gen X and Y are very different in some
aspects while in other they are very similar. For many people the normal five milestones of
adulthood are completing school, leaving home, becoming financially independent, marring and
having a child (Henig) in that order, but the people in generation Y have a different way of
viewing those milestones. People in the Y generation stopped marring early and having babies
and became more focused on their careers, while others choose to leave school for work, some
never have children or are unable to, some never leave home or return home after some time and
some never achieve all the five milestones. During my parents generation in Brazil it was normal
for people to return to their parents house (Fischer) and stay there until they get married or start a
new family, different from generation Y the education was very important so not many people left
school. Most people in the Baby boomers generation kept the same job and

Tomb Of The Unknowns Research Paper
The Tomb of the Unknowns one of the most honored places in our country. It s the cemetery for
any soldier who tragically passed during duty. At this cemetery there is a ceremony that is one
of the greatest honors for anyone to do. I feel that I should be selected to be a representative for
Olentangy Berkshire Middle School at the Tomb of the Unknowns. This would be a great honor
for me because of my family, future and respect for the military. The first reason why I think that
I should be selected to do this honor is because of my family history. In my family, there is a line
of people who were in the military: 2 grandfathers, great uncles, a great great great grandfather,
2nd cousins and a cousin who is still active. Because of my relatives (there are more that are not
listed), I have the utmost respect for the military. They are the strongest and bravest this country

the military. What I learned from story s people from the military have told , and are still telling
is that serving your country can leave a legacy. It can also impact your country forever, which is
very clear. The most shocking thing that I discovered was that people would not say that they did it
for personal gain but for the people. It shows the dedication that they have to this country, and it is

Camelot Analysis
This story is set in Camelot 528 A.D. beginning on nineteenth of June (17). The setting is important
because the way of speech was much different then. That would make a big difference for a man
from Connecticut from 1879. Also in this time period there were thatch roofed houses and stone
houses. Also people dressed much differently.
This story is in limited first person. This is important because it only shows the story from the
Connecticut man s point of view. This way you only know his thoughts, not the thoughts of
others. This point of view also gives a more personal feel to the story as you are walking in this
man s shoes as to say. I seemed to believe the boy, I didn t know why. (17). I had mine, the king and

Church and the king. The king winced under this accidental home shot, but kept still; he was
learning his part; and he was playing it well to, for a pretty dull beginner. (291) I chose this quote
because I find it sad that the king didn t really know what his own people went through. He had to
experience these things himself to truly understand their pains. Things in his country may have

Second-Wave Feminism and Labour in Canada
Canadian workplaces today seem to be a fairly diverse place, with a blend of many religions,
ethnicities, and genders present. However, although people preach affirmative action and melting
pots in current times, many inequality and power issues still abound. One strikingly noticeable
example is gender discrimination. Women in the workforce face many challenges like smaller
wages, harassment, male privilege in hiring or promotions, and lack of support when pregnant or
raising children. One half of the planet is women, and it can be assumed the same for Canada, but
they still face judgment at work because they lack the authority to dispute against big corporations
or even their male supervisor. It cannot be argued that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
al, 1996, p. 65). Minority women faced greater oppression, and were less likely to be hired. If
they were lucky enough to find a job, it was usually low ranking, part time, and short term, as
employers eagerly replaced them with Caucasians, men or both (Frances et. al, 1996, pp. 69 70).
Part time work was very common, with 25% of female workers part time in 1989 (Frances et. al,
1996, p. 66), displaying an employer s reluctance to allow women employees. Even as more
females entered the workforce despite resistance, they were still discriminated against due to the
current powers in charge.
The main goal of second wave feminism with regards to women and labour was changing the
power structure through legal means to ensure female workers. To begin this movement, a royal
commission was called for. The Royal Commission on the Status of Women (RCSW) was
created to bring equality to women all over Canada, not just in the workforce. It was needed due
to the influx of women at work in the 1960s after large numbers of women stated working in both
male and female oriented employment in 1943 due to the Second World War. Many refused to quit
their jobs after the war ended and the soldiers returned (Morris, 2013). Although legally allowed to
work, it is obvious through widely known tropes of the time (the good housewife versus bad female
labourer) that women were discouraged from working outside the home. Student

Communication In Communication
Conversation is changing dynamically as society ushers in a new era of communication. Social
media has been a revelation in the way society interacts with one another. It is often celebrated for
the ability to connect individuals over extensive distances; however, it is quickly creating a
disconnect between people communicating face to face. There are three prevalent issues plaguing
modern society s interpersonal communication: Social media becomes an addiction, the interaction
between reality and the online landscape, and social media teaches society to multitask. Social
media has caused attention spanto plummet and society has become increasingly enamored with an
online world; thus, causing individuals to be detracted from their environment and less sociable in
face to face communication. Renowned movie critic Roger Ebert had an interesting thought on
why he believed social media was addicting. In Ebert s blog he wrote about the French word
frisson and its meaning. A translation into English would show it means; a brief intense reaction.
Ebert theorizes that humans search out for it often. Essentially, what Ebert is acknowledging is
that he finds himself addicted to this frisson. He feels the need to search out the quick fix that
social media provides. This indicates a possible explanation why society tends to be on their phone
during lulled situations (Ebert). Individuals do this to search out frisson, and to distract themselves
from their own perceived boredom. This

The Outbreak of the Spanish Civil War Essay
The Outbreak of the Spanish Civil War
To this day the Spanish Civil War is still remembered as the single most pivotal moment in the
history of Spanish politics. The only way of understanding how 600,000 Spaniards were killed
between 1936 and 1939 is to ask ourselves why the civil war broke out in Spain in 1936. There
were a number of reasons which led to the civil war in Spain. The main and most significant being
the increased political polarization between the left and right wing parties.
This polarization primarily began within Spanish society, which had been characterized by its
strong religious beliefs and conservative values, as it remained a strict Roman Catholic country for

On the other hand, was the conservative nationalists represented by the Church, the army and many
large landowners and industrialists. Most of which wanted Spain to return to the Golden Ages of
sixteenth century Catholic Spain and were in favour of the Monarchy in order to remain an
authoritarian state. This division was highlighted further by a number of pronunciamientos[6] and
uprisings between the two sides adding to the increased political tension.
For the right, they saw the defence of religious interests as their fundamental political task. [7]
Whereas, the liberals reflected the increasingly anti Catholic feeling throughout Spain. Therefore, it
can be understood why the liberal views on the Church, and its policies within the second republic
to reduce the Church s power, angered the right wing parties enough for them to retaliate through a
number of uprisings throughout Spain. Especially during the declaration of the second republic
stating that Spain no longer possessed an official religion.
During the constitutional monarchy of Alfonso CIII, the left was frustrated by the farce of the
electoral system[8], which up until the second republic was formed on the 14th April 1931,
remained in favour of local bosses, also given

The Open Boat Compare and Contrast Essay Rough Draft
This paper is about the story The Open Boat written by Stephen Crane. In this paper, I will try to
provide the similarities of the original story with the newspaper account. The differences in each
article will also be discussed. Lastly, I will provide a conclusion based on the facts of both articles.
The Open Boat begins with a description of men aboard a small boat on a rough sea. These men
are all survivors of a shipwreck. There is the cook, overweight and sloppily dressed, who is trying
to remove water from the bottom of the boat. The oiler, a physically powerful man named Billie
who is rowing with one oar. There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He shares this thought with the other men, and the oiler smiles in sympathy. The men smoke
cigars drink their water and wait to be spotted by the lighthouse rescue crew, unwilling to run
their boat ashore in the rough waves. The lighthouse appears deserted. The men discuss rowing
toward land swimming through the surf once the boat finally capsizes in the rougher water that
is closer to shore. The crew knows that, over time, they will grow weaker and things will get
worse, not better. They exchange with each other addresses and admonitions , in case all of
them do not live through this whole ordeal Later, someone is seen on the shore waving to them.
A while later, a crowd gathers, disembarking from a bus. Despite their efforts to let the people
know on shore they were in distress, they realize that the people on shore are tourists and that
they think they are just simple fisherman. Thoughts of drowning run rampant in every man s
mind on that boat. At dawn, the men decided that their only chance is to row toward the distant
shore again and swim when the boat finally capsizes. On the Captain s order, the oiler rows the
boat directly toward the shore. The boat capsizes and the people on the boat are so weak that it is
hard for them to even keep their heads above water. Suddenly, a man appears on shore stripping his
clothes off and running into the water. The rescuer

Religious Holy War
The religious holy war is a conflict that caused because of the differences in religion, and beliefs
between nations, and people. In 2001, After the attacks of 9/11, as a result, the 43rd U.S.
president of the United States George W. Bush declared the War on terror . After 9/11, the
tension, and the conflict between the Western Islamic world has been rising and impacted both
nations, especially after just one month of 9/11, The war against an Islamic conservative country
like Afghanistan started from the United States. These fast actions caused people to worry it s a
religious holy war between Christianity, and Islam because the attackers of 9/11 were Muslims
individuals in a majority Christian s country. By looking at the history of the religious holy wars
starting from crusades in 1095 all the way to the current time, I will demonstrate, compare, and
contrast the differences between the War on terror Lead by the United States, crusades, and what
groups like ISIS, Al Qaedado in the name of Islam, as well as the Islamic concept of Jihad. First, to
understand why we have holy wars we can go back to History many centuries ago. Historically, the

this essay, a lesson that should be learned is to try to implement and develop a new generation
that does not have grudges, that forget all the sad past between Christianity, Islam and holy wars
between each other. This can be done by having a strong bedrock education from both sides that
teaches young people to be more tolerant, peaceful, and respectful of other religions. Moreover,
minimizing the use of words that can remind both sides of the tension past, like Crusades , and
Jihad , while that can be difficult to achieve because the letters in history do not disappear and

Conflicts And Tensions Between The French And Algerian War...
The period between 1830 and 1962 was full of conflicts and tensions between the unstable French
and Algerian government. Conflicts were based on religion, equality, nationalism, politics and
terrorism. With the encouragement of European settlement, privileges and inequality appeared. As
the pressure grew, new nationalistic groups were created, and sometimes they would act as a
terrorist organization, just like the FLN group. Even though the problems were increasing in the
French colony, there was some collaboration that tried to maintain the peace in it. Some laws that
were published enhanced the political power of Algerians in their government, National Assembly

The Importance Of Lancelot In Malory s Morte D Arthur
Malory explicitly links Tristram and Lancelot in their desire for the unattainable and their
correspondence as contemporaries confined to new ideas presented as high treason. Elizabeth Kay
Harris describes the changes the textual alterations signify in her 1995, Evidence Against Lancelot
and Guinevere in Malory s Morte D Arthur: Treason by Imagination . By using a background of
law, she argues that the process in Tristram demonstrates the inverse of Lancelot and represents a
uniquely English reading of the two. However, Lancelot admires Tristram until he weds a woman
other than Iseult the Fair. Capellanus argument should allow these relationships to work, as long as,
singular attachment does not form the goal. Both men overstep Capellanus ramifications, finding
themselves falling from their lord s graces and ostracized from society. With these warnings in
mind, book VII, Lancelot and Guinevere, sees the public behavior of Guinevere shame Arthur after

The structure of Guinevere s adultery showed direct alteration in the English translation to avoid
direct description of an English queen s sexuality and political agency. Though sexual liberty ebbed
over the previous time, the literature of the courtly love movement ensured the sanctity of
noblewomen s bodies as they held the ultimate choice in partner selection. Without this decisive
power, male courtiers regained power in relationships and regulated women s involvement in their
affairs. As a result, Guinevere loses her autonomy in her courtship with Lancelot and only survives
through inaction and silence allows her to escape. Guinevere s narrative shows the secularization of
the female body and opens the opportunity for equality in punishment for crimes of high

Salem Witchcraft Trials Of 1692
Courtney Gray English III 3rd block Mrs. Gray 19 March 2012 Important Facts in the Salem
Witchcraft Trials of 1692 Black magic. The Dark Arts. Voodoo. Sorcery. Conjuring. Witchcraft.
No matter what they chose to call it, witchcraft was an evil association with the devil and the use
of magic or the alleged use of magic, in the eyes of the Puritans of Salem, Massachusetts. And it
was the alleged part that caused the Salem Witchcraft Trials tragedy of 1692. The Puritans
believed the signs of witchcraft were apparent if only people knew what to look for. Witches had
physical signs, called witches marks, such as moles or other skin anomalies (Linder В¶15).
Anyone in league with the devil was also believed to be unable to recite the Lord s Prayer, and
George Burroughs cast serious doubt on the validity of the trials when he recited the Lord s
Prayer flawlessly as he stood upon the gallows (Netzley 215). Sadly, it was not enough to spare
his life. The magistrates also believed spectral evidence was an acceptable means of identifying
a witch. Spectral evidence was testimony that relied on the accusers, who allegedly saw the
accused witch s specter loose in Salem, causing pain and trouble to the good people in town
(Benson, Brannen and Valentine 1362). Spectral evidence was impossible to prove or disprove,
since only the afflicted people could see the specters (Benson, Brannen and Valentine 1362). Once
a person was accused of witchcraft, he or she had to be put to the

America is a very diverse country, and it is very important that all of our public school s respect

students to pray would be unconstitutional. It is also written in the First Amendment the right of
freedom of speech, we as Americans should be allowed to pray in school. Students also have the
right to pray under protected guidelines that have been set by the Supreme Court. This country was
also built on freedom to practice any religion.

In 1990 the Supreme Court ruled that students are allow to form clubs that permits them to meet

How Alzheimer s Disease ( Ad ) And Associated Dementias
Contemporary Issues Formative Essay Introduction For the purpose of this essay I will be
comparing how Alzheimer s Disease (AD) and associated dementias are recognised in the United
Kingdom (UK) and responded to, when compared to Italy. I have chosen this subject as there are
indications from both countries that dementia sufferers will increase dramatically over the next
twenty years. It is estimated that there are 800,000 people in the UK with AD and dementia, this
number is expected to double by 2040. At present the cost to the economy is ВЈ23 billion, by 2040
the costs are likely to treble(Gov.UK). REFERENCE NEEDED. In Italy there are approximately
1 million people living with dementia. (Alzheimer s, 2016) It has been suggested by 2020, it is
estimated that 584,000 new cases of dementia will occur in the country (Choices, 2016). This
this will inevitably put a high demand not only on both National Health Services (NHS) in the
UK and in Italy, but also on support services within the care sector, such as carers, voluntary
organisations and also families of AD and dementia sufferers. This will also increase the
workload on social workers as more assessment of need will have to be carried out to maintain
the levels of support needed to sustain an expected quality of life. I will be addressing legislation
and policy s adopted by both countries historically and modern day. I will also be discussing
diagnosis of AD and dementia, funding, ethical and cultural issues, services

I personally believe that use of hallucinogens has already become fairly socially acceptable. I feel
that my generation is very open minded and is less likely to condemn others for controversial
choices than older generations. I feel that it should be socially acceptable, because everyone
makes their own choices. If someone is choosing to use hallucinogens on their own time for
recreation, and they are not hurting anyone else in the process, there is no reason they should be
shamed for that choice. They understand the consequences of their own actions, and can therefore
be mature about it and deal with said consequences. At the same time, those who use
hallucinogens as a religious rite, such as some southwestern native american tribes do, should not
be frowned upon. Christians consume wine in church as part of the eucharist. Nobody tells them
that because alcohol is harmful to the human body, they should not do it. Therefore, there is no
reason for anyone else to condemn religious groups for using hallucinogens. Everyone has the
capability to make their own choices, whether for recreation or for religious reasons. If no one is
forcing a sheet of blotter paper onto one s tongue or putting peyote in someone else s tea, I see no
problem with use of hallucinogens from a social

An Overview Of Energy Management Meter System
A Framework for a GSMSmart Energy Management Meter System for Effective Measurement,
Management and Communication of Power and its Data in a Developing Grid
Abstract
Energy measurement and management are amongst the major grid challenges and research efforts
have been geared towards addressing them. The emergence of smart meters in consonance with the
smart grid concept is as a result of these efforts. This paper explores the integration of Energy
Management and Control System (EMCS) technologies into smart meters to mitigate energy
wastages and ensure energy accountability. The integrated system presented in this paper leverages
on the GSM technology to provides a tripod communication between the meter, utility and the
consumers. Results from the system prototype show that the system offers the consumer the
opportunity to make personal energy budgets in line with the energy conservation, provides more
consumption details than the traditional meters and provides for the utility a better management
platform of the consumer component of the grid.
Keywords: energy, consumption, measurement, management, metering
IIntroduction
The electric grid is a large interconnection of both generation and transmission electrical subsystems
usually managed by utilities to facilitate efficient distribution of electricity to consumers and
businesses [1]. Providing adequate, reliable and sustainable energy has always been the focus as
well as a perennial challenge for utilities. This challenge

SГёren Kierkegaard
People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they
seldom use. Lets go back to when men valued thought, for they valued its effect on the world,
lets go back and take a look at the father of Christian Existentialism, SГёren Kierkegaard. SГёren
Kierkegaard was born to a father who inflicted strict and rigorous religious teaching upon his
children. His father felt this was necessary because of his sinful habit that resulted in an affair
with his 1st wife s maid. Kierkegaard, after a broken engagement with his love, was handed over
to a life of severe melancholy. Yet as a result of both his personal pain and brilliant mind, a literary
life few could surpass, and wisdom of thought (does that make sense) ensued.... Show more content

His answer was summarized in three words, Fear and Trembling. This is something that he spent
an immense amount of time answering, and his answers can be condensed into the example that
he gave from the Old Testament in the Bible. He gives Christians an example in which to follow,
in the patriarch Abraham. The example that Abraham gives, and we are to follow, is found in
how Abraham responds to the command to kill his son. For man, especially a father, this
command is unfathomable, yet because God wanted to test Abraham (give better reasoning), he
told him to sacrifice his son. Kierkegaard looks at Genesis 22:2, it says, He said, Take your son,
your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt
offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you. He notes the unbearable precision in
the command, when God says take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love (emphasis
added) Kierkegaard also takes a close look at the beginning of the next verse, it says, So Abraham
rose early in the morning. He notes that some men take this excerpt to men that Abraham was rising
early to faithfully carry out his duty. And while that has some truth to it, it is not complete,
Kierkegaard emphasizes the fact that he rose early, not because he got a great night of sleep, rather
that he wrestled with this command in

A Survey on Transformation of BPMN to BPEL Essay
III.LITERATURE SURVEY Many researchers have studied the transformation between BPMN
and BPEL. Most of the research conducted in this field is analytical in nature. Only few insights
exist into the practical use of BPMN. Most notably is the work of Ouyang et al. [10, 11] and [12],
who propose that BPMN to BPEL transformation be accomplished by multiple phase matching of
pattern and graph transformation. An algorithm for generating readable BPEL code from BPMN
model is presented in [10] which generates BPEL code from BPMN model by discovering
structural patterns in the BPMN models which in turn are mapped into BPEL structured activities.
The original BPD is decomposed into well structured components having one entry and one exit

Event handler is enabled while the scope is under execution and thus the corresponding translation
is based upon the event action rule. The Standard Process Model (SPM) is decomposed into a
collection of event action rules that trigger one another to encode the underlying control flow logic.
The fundamental idea is to define precondition set (i.e., encapsulating all the possible ways of
reaching an activity) for all the activities in SPM. Each precondition set is associated with an
activity and defines the possible way of enabling the activity. Afterwards, all the precondition set
with their associated activities are transformed into event action rule which in turn translates into
BPEL event handlers. However, this approach only holds for one specific process model type by
applying structural restriction on BPDs. Eventually, the resulting BPEL code is not readable and
thus difficult to modify and maintain. Since, a well structured pattern impose restriction on BPDs,
therefore, Ouyang et al.[12] also present another approach that not only maps block structure in
BPMN model but also accounts for quasi structure and flow based acyclic fragment into block
structure BPEL. Quasi structure patterns are those patterns which can exhibit well structuredness
e.g. splitting a gateway into two gateways without changing semantics to separate the incompatible
parts. Three types of

Tyranny In Greece
In the ancient Greek city states and over many centuries, the government (political power) took
many forms: held by a single individual: (monarchies and tyrants), or by a select few (oligarchies
and aristocracies), or by every male citizen (democracy).
A monarchy is a type of governance of the people by a single individual, with the power retained by
blood lines. In the pre Classical period, ancient Greece was composed of small geographic units
ruled by a local king.
People in these small geographic units, paid taxes to the king, obeyed his laws, and depended on
him for their defense.
Greek monarchies were only distinguishable from a tyranny when the hereditary ruler was more
caring and ruled in the genuine interest of his people.
Due to fighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Greek tyrants were not necessarily evil rulers, they simply looked after their own interests
(e.g. Pisistratus rule in Athens).
Sparta avoided tyranny, probably because of the need for unity amongst citizens against helots.
As Tyranny governments have the tendency at being insecure, and try to maintain their power by
becoming increasingly oppressive; they decline in ancient Greece because tyrants became greedy
and harsh and were overthrown.
Democracy is the rule by the people (governance by the people).
Democracy was based on principle that all citizens of the city state of Athens had right to attend
and speak at assembly (women, slaves metics were not citizens).
The most important political posts were the 10 generals that were elected by the assembly each
year. Citizens were brought in by random lottery to serve on the Assembly for one year. Assembly
members decisions were made through public debate and voting. The Council (smaller group) was
responsible for day today running of

culture to the fullest. The Mexican culture consists of a tight family, plentiful cuisine, Spanish
language, Latin music, and the Catholic religion. Growing up in a Mexican household has
definitely influenced my morals, values, and character. Although I remain living in a Hispanic

Australia s automotive manufacturing industry is going through an important change: В· Motor
vehicle manufacturers in Australia could not find the way to remain competitive in the aggressive
international and national automotive markets; Ford, Holden and Toyota have made public they
are not going to produce anymore local manufacturing before the end of 2017. В· As a
consequence of the closing of the motor vehicle manufacturing plants and the pressure and ongoing
adjustments on the supply chain, it has been calculated that up to 40. 000 people will possibly lose
their jobs. It is imminent that job losses will be ongoing over several years. В· The Australian
automotive manufacturing industry is one of the most heavily subsided. Many years of assistance
to automotive manufacturing firms ($30 billion between 1997 and 2012) has anticipated, but not

manufacturing are considerably higher in Australia than in countries such as China and Thailand
but not significantly different from those in developed countries such as Germany and Japan. The
labour market in Australia is quite unstable; many workers lose their jobs in a one year period

There are several different components that make up a hybrid car. These are:
В· A Gasoline Engine endash; The gasoline engine on a hybrid car is quite similar to a typical car
s engine. The difference between a typical gasoline engine and a hybrid s gasoline engine is that a
hybrid s engine contains different technology that reduces emissions, and it is also much smaller.
В· A Fuel tank endash; Just like a typical car, the fuel tank is a large storage device for the
gasoline that powers the engine. Gasoline is much denser than batteries. 1,000 pounds of batteries
store about as much as one (seven pounds) gallon of fuel.
В· An Electric motor endash; This is the part of the vehicle that makes it a hybrid. Advanced
electronics give the motor the ability to act as a generator and also power the transmission. When
powering the vehicle, the motor will draw energy from a battery when need be. When it is a
generator, the motor returns energy to the same batteries that were used to power the motor.
В· A Generator endash; On some hybrids (mostly series hybrids), a separate generator is used to
return energy to the battery or power the electric motor and allow the battery to rest.
В· The Batteries endash; Like the fuel tank stores the energy for the gasoline engine, the batteries
store the energy for the electric motor.
В· A transmission endash; A hybrid s transmission performs the same basic

The Age Of Jackson By Andrew Jackson Essay
The Age of Jackson was a time when the high society aristocrats were threatened by the commoner.
Jackson was a common man himself; orphaned as a boy, Jackson, rose to the top and became an
admired general and commander in chief. Jackson affected the outlook on the class system, the
method of electing our president, the spread of the spoils system, the fighting between the north
and the south, the interactions between America and the Indians, and he helped lead our country to
inflation.
With Jackson s emaciated physical appearance, it is ironic that he had the personality of a fighter.
Andrew Jackson overall was a misfit in politics for a plethora of reasons that in turn had various
effects. Jackson frequently used his power to veto bills. He did this more than any other
president before him. This set the precedent for all future presidents to be more involved in the
legislative process. Not only did Jackson give the President a much needed voice in legislation,
but he also challenged the class system. Jackson became an orphan at a young age and took an
interest in cockfighting. Like his predecessor, Washington, he had no formal college education
and was known to have bad spelling habits. However, these disadvantages gave him a popularity
increase with the lower class common man. He was perceived to have a greater understanding of
the common man, being a common man himself. Jackson s involvement in the end of the War of
1812 was a major success for him. At the Battle of

Female Harassment In The Military Essay
Women in the U.S. military have always had a tough row to hoe ; those women who literally broke
ground, opened doors, and made the choice of a military career easier for those who followed, were
the beginning. Today the fight is continuing. Inequality and sexual harassment towards women
continues to persist, because the militaryВЎВ¦s leadership when faced with the option of ill repute
or justice ignores justice.
Women deserve fair treatment, a non hostile environment, and a chance to further their careers on

ВЎВ§By precluding women from the core functions of the military, they define women as marginal
service members, thereby fostering sexual harassment [and discrimination]ВЎВЁ(Tailhook Incident

In 1994, the annual Navy wide Personnel Survey included questions on womenВЎВ¦s role for the
first time. Some 65 percent of officers and almost 50 percent of enlisted respondents said they did
not think women were fully accepted in combat roles. While approximately 80 percent said
harassment was not tolerated at their command, almost half of all respondents disagreed that
everyone is treated equally in promotions and advancements.
Some of this is based on the presumed physical and psychological characteristics of women, which
may interfere with their performances in combat rich situations. For example: the physical strength
of women. People believe that women are not strong enough to lift and carry heavy equipment or
wounded fellow soldiers and that they lack endurance to perform these tasks over a lengthened
period. In addition, there is the idea that women cannot perform strenuous tasks quickly, like
loading heavy shells into a weapon. Moreover, combat is not for the weak and slow. Although
allowing women in combat remains a top priority, women are now serving in virtually every other
occupational capacity in all four branches of the

Aristotle And Plato s Philosophy
)
Professor Armstrong
CC
5 October 2015
Aristotle and Plato are famous for their many works in the philosophical field. Specifically, the
Republic by Plato and Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle seem to be their most popular works. In
these works they discuss things that are needed to achieve the good life both on an individual level
and on a societal level. There is some variance between what the two philosophers think can create
the good life. They explore the concepts of eudaimonia, virtue, and soul with the same end result of
happiness for all. Through analysis of each philosophers work, we can see that both Plato s
definition of the good life and his method to achieve it is far superior to Aristotle s. Furthermore,
this concept of the good life is best supported through democratic form of government.
Eudaimonia is a Greek word commonly translated as happiness. It consists of the words eu
(good) and daimon (spirit). It is a central concept of both Aristotle s and Plato s works. In their
works eudaimonia was a term that referred to the highest moral good. Therefore, eudaimonia is
the central focus of practical philosophy. Both Aristotle and Plato explore the concept of
eudaimonia by theorizing what it really is and how it can be achieved on an individual level and
on a larger, societal scale. Both Aristotle and Plato have their own distinct definitions of what
eudaimonia consists of. Plato has a three part definition. eudaimonia, to him, is living in

Pawn Sacrifice Film Analysis
The season of biopic is upon us as Pawn Sacrifice is the third film in past two weeks that has
concentrated on a real life story. Pawn Sacrifice is a movie about the real life story of Bobby
Fischer and his rise from a child prodigy to a chess legend. Tobey Maguire is an unconventional
casting as Fischer but grows onto the audience as he delivers one of his strongest performance.
Maguire is riveting in portraying the ever abrasive and prejudicial Fischer. Fischer is
unquestionably a genius but a very difficult person to like and get along with, which Maguire gets

the genius of Fischer and his mental illness.

for creating and publishing international standards (Dedhia, p.1). Many business people have
heard of ISO but don t know the requirements. ISO isn t an acronym, it s derived from the Greek
word isos, which means equal (Dedhia, p.1). ISO 9000 first published in 1987 as a series of three
standards and supplementary guidelines, the standards outline the collective plans, responsibilities,
procedures and resources to ensure customers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ISO 9000 could be a benefit to an organization s control function of management if you have the
right people in the organization. People who are committed and involved in running a business the
correct way. However, aspects of the control function of management that will most benefit by the
implementation of ISO 9000, requirements helped most and least by ISO 9000 implementation, and
my opinion on if the benefit outweigh the cost of implementing ISO 9000 into an organization will
be addressed throughout the entirety of this essay.
The pressure for organizations to become ISO 9000 certified is absolutely increasing, to the fact the
corporate customers are requesting ISO 9000 certification to ensure that suppliers are paying
adequate attention to quality ( ISO 9000 , p.1). Aspects of the control function of management that
mostly benefit from ISO 9000 are plentiful. In my opinion, being that the ISO 9000 requires a
management that is committed, involved, focused and responsive benefits the control functions of
management in many categories (Dedhia, p.1). With a management that is involved in everyday
operations, setting standards is a must, standards of what should be done and the efficiency of the
organization. Management who is committed and responsive in an organization measure
performances and corrects deviations to continue the success of the organization,

Theme Of Gimpel The Fool
Herode Decius Professor Dr. Kathleen Tamayo Alves English 102PNT1 08 November 2017
Feeling a Sense of Acceptance and Belonging In the hierarchy of needs, belonging is introduced
as a necessity needed to survive, yet often overlooked by society. We develop our own set of
values and morals in which we conform. These values develop throughout our life cycle from
childhood into adulthood and varies from person to person by affiliations, religious beliefs and
interactions with groups we belong to. In, Isaac Bashevis Singer s Gimpel the fool, the author s use
of heavy irony, the author suggests that a sense of belonging can emerge from the connections
made with people, places and the larger world. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator s description of himself presents a series of conflicts between how he views himself
and the society he lives in. To hint at that conflict, the author uses irony in a work, he has the
character act naГЇve and ignorant to create the wise character of Gimpel , I am Gimpel the fool. I
don t think myself a fool. On the contrary, But that s what folks call me (745). This illustrates a
wise man that is well aware of the label given to him but deliberately accepted it. It is also ironic
when his wife, Erka, tells Gimpel that he is the father of the child she had four months after
their marriage, He seemed to accept her explanation of the child being premature, but then
admits, to tell the plain truth, I don t believe her... but then, who really knows how such things
are (749)? He continues, I believed them, and I hope that did them some good (749). This shows
at what length he d go through to feel accepted by his wife despite what he had to endure from
being cheated on to learning that the kids weren t his right before her death. It also shows the
reader, despite that Gimpel was being mistreated, he did not let that influence on how he
perceived himself as a person or changed his views and beliefs on the world; other people s
approach toward him and opinions did not matter. Instead of seeking revenge or showing them that
he is not a fool, he said, One can t pass through life unscathed (750). Through the sadness, he had

Examples Of Loyalty In Julius Caesar
Loyalty is synonymous with honesty, trustworthiness and honour. But if power is so close to
your grasp, what would you do to get it? Good morning Mr Houghton and fellow students, today I
will be speaking about how the concept of loyalty is shaped by Machiavelli s The Prince as well as
Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, and how being loyal to your country is different from being loyal to
your leader, with conflicting loyalty, non conflicting loyalty and loyalty to all.
Firstly, I will be speaking about conflicting loyalty. In Julius Caesar, Brutus was Caesar s trusted
and close friend. Even though Brutus showed the greatest amount of loyalty to his country, he fails
to see how Cassius manipulates him into seeing Caesar as a danger to his Republican idealism and
ultimately destroying him. Brutus went about showing his love for Rome in a ... Show more content

In this case, it is Mark Antony, a man who is presented as Caesar s close friend who respects his
absolute authority, with the quote When Caesar says, Do this , it is performed. His loyalty to his
friends and to his country did not conflict like Brutus. He saw Caesar as a noble Roman. Similar
to Brutus, his judgement was also flawed, deeming Cassius as not dangerous. Whilst still loyal to
Caesar, he negotiates with the assassins, shaking their bloodied hands in an ironic gesture of
friendship and respect, with grief and fury in the back of his mind. The funeral speech shows off
Antony s rhetorical skills, with the repetition of honourable man when talking about Brutus
ironically. Antony was willing to go to war for revenge on the murderers of the noblest man that
ever lived in the tide of times. There are examples of non conflicting loyalty in The Prince as well.
In chapter three, Machiavelli speaks about living in your occupying territories or colonising them to
maintain strong military presence and loyalty. It is a win win situation, hence no conflicting

Globalization and the Northern Territory Intervention
Globalization, a contested concept among leading theorists in its definition, chronology, and
measurement of effects, is almost certainly of a multidimensional nature if such theorists
perspectives are all taken equally into consideration. The broad phenomenon of globalization can
therefore be scrutinised more closely by separation and analysis of individual dimensions, such as
its political, economic, cultural and ecological dimensions. This approach, while allowing for a
more focused examination of the causes and effects of globalizationwithin a single dimension,
serves to highlight the interconnectedness of each dimension. The following essay will expose the
complex interconnection between the political, economic and cultural... Show more content on

The political dimension of globalization is evident in the harnessing of neoliberal ideology to
enforce and justify sanctions upon Indigenous communities within the Northern Territory (Craig
Porter, 2006; Scrimgeour, 2007). Several of the more contested components of the Northern
Territory Intervention were born of think tank publications, which set this neoliberal agenda
(Scrimgeour, 2007). Neoliberalism is fostered by a global network of think tanks, which are
underwritten by corporate sponsors and bring elitist ideals into the mainstream and popular opinion
(Scrimgeour, 2007). Australia s major think tanks are the Institute for Public Affairs (IPA) and the
Centre for Independent Studies (CIS), both of which receive major funding from mining companies
(Scrimgeour, 2007).
Such think tanks, promoting neoliberal ideals of deregulation, liberalization, and privatisation of
the market and public assets, as well as supporting the dismantling of the welfare state, have
considerable influence on the ideology of the Government in forming policy (Scrimgeour, 2007).
From 2000 to 2004, the IPA published 33 articles on Indigenous matters, most of which promoted
the idea that previous Indigenous policies of land rights and

Howl By William Ginsberg
Howl by Allen Ginsberg: A Reflection on Institutions In the midst of radical changes in America
during the 1950s as a result of the Cold War, the Beat Generation came into existence. America in
the 1950s was an age of conformity, something the Beats were against. Individuality was thrown
out the window. The middle class emerged. In the suburbs, every house looked the same and
everyone wanted to buy what their neighbor had and keep up with societal norms. Everyone acted
the same way and shared the same beliefs as everyone else. Society in the 1950s, were confined to
institutions in which Allen Ginsbergwrote about in the poem, Howl. In fact, he met some of his
fellow beat poets at his university and a companion whom he dedicates this poem to at a
psychiatric ward. His experiences at these institutions was of great influence to him as a person and
as a poet.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were influenced by jazz, experimented with drugs and wrote obscene poetry to go against
society. The Beats lived in a society where individuality was a negative thing. In the poem Howl,
Ginsberg reflects on a world of madness in which institutions such as universities, the government,
and psychiatric wards created a conformist society that stifled creativity and individuality. Ginsberg
opens the poem with the line, I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness (1). The
best minds he refers to were not the elites but the outcasts such as poets, musicians, and the
underprivileged. They were against a conformist society that didn t allow them to express
themselves freely. Society rejected them and their attempts to break free from institutions. They
sought many ways to escape this world of

Roofing In Commercial Building
Why Metal Roofing Is A Good Choice For Your New Commercial Building
If you re planning to build a new commercial building, one of the things you ll need to consider is
the type of roof you ll have installed. Since your company deals with the public, you want a roof
that has an attractive appearance, but you also want one that requires little maintenance. Metal
roofing is an excellent option. Here are a few reasons why metal is a good choice in commercial
roofing.
Good For Low Slopes
Metal roofing is suitable for all types of building architecture, even for buildings that have low
slopes. Asphalt, which is another popular roofing type, cannot be used on low slope roofs because
water will form puddles on the roof and flow under the shingles. ... Show more content on

Insects and pests have no interest in chewing metal, so the panels won t deteriorate over time.
Metal roofing is also treated during the manufacturing process to be rust resistant. All these qualities
combine to make metal one of the most durable roofing materials you can choose for your building.
Metal Roofs Maintain Their Appearance
Metal roofing comes in a variety of colors, so you can choose a blue, green, or red roof for your
building if you want. The color is baked on the metal, so you don t have to worry about it
peeling off, and you ll never have to repaint the roof. Some types of paint even reflect UV rays,
so they help reduce energy costs for cooling your building. Plus, the UV protection helps prevent
color fading over the years. Once you install the metal roof, you probably won t have to do any
maintenance or repairs on it unless it is vandalized or an unusually strong storm rolls through your
area.
A metal roof can give your building an upscale appearance so it is attractive to customers and
clients. Since it is available in different colors, it doesn t have an industrial look and it is much less
labor intensive than maintaining asphalt shingles. For these reasons, when it s time for you to
choose your commercial roofing, metal is worth

Reflection Paper On Narcissism
Reading this week s articles became all too personal for me as I began to reflect on the book that
I am writing in which the protagonist is a narcissist. When telling people about my book most
people cannot get past the fact that the protagonist is my mother, but her narcissistic personality
is what created the storyline for my entire text. She has many of the classic attributes of a
narcissist, my favorite (from a writer s perspective) is her immense lack of empathy. It is
extremely incredible that what little empathy she can find she can control based on who she is
with and what the specific circumstances are. While the book may shed light on some of the
negative things she has done in her past or the negative behaviors associated with her narcissismI
have been sure to include an entire chapter detailing my belief that narcissism should be considered
an objective personality type. Narcissism has an enormous amount of negative connotation
surrounding it which is ironic to be because there are positive attributes some of which many of us
share.
The article mentioned, Most of us have elements of all three, when referring to the three main
personality types of erotics, obsessives, and narcissists (Maccoby). I agree with Maccoby which
is why I think it is important that we continue to find a place in the workplace for those who are
narcissistic and abrasive because even though we may not agree with their style we must
welcome diversity in order to avoid groupthink. I think that ensuring a well balanced mix of
personalities in a workplace can boost production and allow leaders to rise from the shadows of
abrasive and narcissistic leaders who may have overstayed their welcome. Another benefit to
maintaining the abrasive personality in the workplace is to encourage the high achiever in the
room who may have the leadership skills to take over a conversation and just need the right
opportunity to do so. If a high achiever gets fed up with another s behavior it may serve as a
catalyst for his/her management of the group.
If an abrasive worker is also a brilliant one, then we must give him/her a chance to find success
within the organization. If one allows his/her personality to get in the way of success,

A Report On The Flow Chart Diagram ( Table D )
In meeting with the process owner and sponsor, we immediately advised per our analysis, added in
white in the Flow Chart Diagram (Table D), further process to correct material issues and keep the
project moving.
Evaluation
Note We find in the map a significant drain on finance to labor and resources, due to incorrect
material, prolonged project time, causing further overhead and loss in profit. We redirected our
investigation to further questions to the key players in the ordering and estimating of materials.
This accounts for a majority of the devastating overhead and lost time of the stakeholders. Further
note a bottleneck with the supplier and unskilled workforce are also evident. We will utilize the
measurement phase to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pareto Chart Diagram (Table B) shows a strong correlation between incorrect materials and labor
costs. The control chart below shows the process system in control and needing to change or the
process would continue.
The overage in hours is staggering, at $130,000 per year (being $2,500 per week) or 5,200 hours
on an average. A further overage of materials and direct labor cost totaling $120,000 per year in
incorrect materials, for a total of $250,000 combined in reduction of costs, increasing resources of
the company and client satisfaction. After we brain stormed on Supplies, process activities, output
activities, and customer feedback (SIPOC) and developed further strategy for decision making.
According to Pyzdek,T., Keller, (2010) a (SIPOC) is a flowcharting technique that helps identify
those processes that have the greatest impact on customer satisfaction (p. 94). That drastically
affects the project cost and impact of the (BVA) Business value analysis. Upper and lower control
limits identified with an X bar and R chart to validate the process capability with a process mean of
34.84Hr and standard deviation of 1.874Hr.
We concluded that the lack of a continuous process improvement(s) program (CPI) has directly
related to outer influences crippled this organization. A Cause and Effect Diagram produced focus
efforts that directly affected on the overage of hours. This focus of incorrect materials has an
impact on the process as a whole and

Rose In Bloom Alternate Ending
Rose in Bloom Rose looked down at Mandy who lay, arms and feet spread apart and held by
black cuffs and restrains, on the bed. Mandy looked up at her, naked and expectant. Her
platinum blonde hair was down now and spread on the bed above her head. Rose liked how she
looked, restrained and free at the same time. She wanted to savor this sight, simple and delicious.
She loved finding different ways to bind and restrain Mandy. They used the bed frequently
because it was easy. Rose had purchased, with Marcus guidance, a restraint system that worked
well with her door, and restraints that she could use to bind Mandy to chair and other furniture.
Each place opened up new modes of exploration for Rose, both exploring Mandy s body in a sensual

She planned to drive back to Wichita for the three days that Marcus would be visiting. She had
family near there and the prospect of visiting with them was nice. Rose did not miss the
coincidence. Mandy was from a small Illinois farm. Nancy was originally from Kansas. Rose
questioned him over dinner, which Mandy served diligently before kneeling on the floor to wait
for their invitation to join the table. Not everyone around me is a rural girl. Marcus gave his
assent to Mandy to join them at the table after Rose indicated her own. Nicole is purely a city
girl. That actually made things a little challenging for us. When she first entered my service, I
was not quite what she expected a Dominant to be. Rose had a hard time seeing that. Marcus was
everything she expected. As she educated herself as well, reading books, visiting websites, and
participating in online groups as Marcus suggested, she had found that the way he treated his
submissives and the way he carried himself was very much how a Dominant should behave.
When I decided to take on Nichole, I was not the confident man you see before you. I thought I
had to behave a certain way to transition from rural life to city life. It was a lot of bravado, and
looking back, sometimes I m surprised that Nichole stuck with

Hanford High School Transcripts Analysis
Transcripts
In my high school career my grades have been of great importance to me both at Lemoore High
School and Hanford High School. My whole freshman year I was able to maintain a 4.0. My
sophomore year I did have a little bit of a downfall with my grades but I was put in home studies so
that I could solely focus on my schoolwork and once I was focused again I went back to Hanford
High. My junior year I came to LHS and my grades improved, I ended that year with 6 A s and 1 C.
As of right now I am ending my senior year with a 3.84 GPA which I am very satisfied with.
Overall I am proud of the grades I have kept throughout these four years and I will strive to
maintain a high academic standing as I further my education in college.

  • 2. Linear Programming, An Objective, Constraints, Alternative... In order to run an organization to its best ability, operations managers can rely on linear programming as a way to guide them in to better decision making in a more confident fashion. Linear programming gets the most effective use out of an establishment s resources, this is always the ideal condition for companies, and nobody wants to be knowingly throwing resources down the drain. In order for an operations manager to successfully administer a linear programmingequation, the OM must have four requirements: an objective, constraints, alternative and linearity. An objective, because linear programming is formulated to maximize or minimize some quantity, this is also called the objective function. A constraintis required because having infinity options is just not logical and the OM needs to have boundaries for the objective. The next requirement, alternative, is needed because without an alternative there would be no question, ergo there would be no need for linear programming. The final requirement, linearity, is expressed in the equation as an inequality, it implies proportionality and additivity. Once an OM has these four requirement they can get to work formulating the linear program. The most common problems are product mix problems, or two or more products produced using a limited resource. An operations manager would start by summarizing the information that is required to solve the issue at hand. An easy way to do this is to have a table with rows and columns ... • 3. Comparison Of Gen X And Y Generation Generations As I grew up I realized that my life is very different from the life that my parents and my grandparents lived and probably will be different from the life my children will live. Some people say that every generation is different from each other. Throughout history many generation have been named after something that it s said to describe them in every way, Tim Urban called the generation I live in the Generation Y or GYPSY s. The generation my parents lived in was called Generation Xor Baby Boomers. The Gen X and Y are very different in some aspects while in other they are very similar. For many people the normal five milestones of adulthood are completing school, leaving home, becoming financially independent, marring and having a child (Henig) in that order, but the people in generation Y have a different way of viewing those milestones. People in the Y generation stopped marring early and having babies and became more focused on their careers, while others choose to leave school for work, some never have children or are unable to, some never leave home or return home after some time and some never achieve all the five milestones. During my parents generation in Brazil it was normal for people to return to their parents house (Fischer) and stay there until they get married or start a new family, different from generation Y the education was very important so not many people left school. Most people in the Baby boomers generation kept the same job and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Tomb Of The Unknowns Research Paper The Tomb of the Unknowns one of the most honored places in our country. It s the cemetery for any soldier who tragically passed during duty. At this cemetery there is a ceremony that is one of the greatest honors for anyone to do. I feel that I should be selected to be a representative for Olentangy Berkshire Middle School at the Tomb of the Unknowns. This would be a great honor for me because of my family, future and respect for the military. The first reason why I think that I should be selected to do this honor is because of my family history. In my family, there is a line of people who were in the military: 2 grandfathers, great uncles, a great great great grandfather, 2nd cousins and a cousin who is still active. Because of my relatives (there are more that are not listed), I have the utmost respect for the military. They are the strongest and bravest this country will ever see.... • 6. Camelot Analysis This story is set in Camelot 528 A.D. beginning on nineteenth of June (17). The setting is important because the way of speech was much different then. That would make a big difference for a man from Connecticut from 1879. Also in this time period there were thatch roofed houses and stone houses. Also people dressed much differently. This story is in limited first person. This is important because it only shows the story from the Connecticut man s point of view. This way you only know his thoughts, not the thoughts of others. This point of view also gives a more personal feel to the story as you are walking in this man s shoes as to say. I seemed to believe the boy, I didn t know why. (17). • 7. Second-Wave Feminism and Labour in Canada Canadian workplaces today seem to be a fairly diverse place, with a blend of many religions, ethnicities, and genders present. However, although people preach affirmative action and melting pots in current times, many inequality and power issues still abound. One strikingly noticeable example is gender discrimination. Women in the workforce face many challenges like smaller wages, harassment, male privilege in hiring or promotions, and lack of support when pregnant or raising children. One half of the planet is women, and it can be assumed the same for Canada, but they still face judgment at work because they lack the authority to dispute against big corporations or even their male supervisor. It cannot be argued that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... al, 1996, p. 65). Minority women faced greater oppression, and were less likely to be hired. If they were lucky enough to find a job, it was usually low ranking, part time, and short term, as employers eagerly replaced them with Caucasians, men or both (Frances et. al, 1996, pp. 69 70). Part time work was very common, with 25% of female workers part time in 1989 (Frances et. al, 1996, p. 66), displaying an employer s reluctance to allow women employees. Even as more females entered the workforce despite resistance, they were still discriminated against due to the current powers in charge. The main goal of second wave feminism with regards to women and labour was changing the power structure through legal means to ensure female workers. To begin this movement, a royal commission was called for. The Royal Commission on the Status of Women (RCSW) was created to bring equality to women all over Canada, not just in the workforce. It was needed due to the influx of women at work in the 1960s after large numbers of women stated working in both male and female oriented employment in 1943 due to the Second World War. Many refused to quit their jobs after the war ended and the soldiers returned (Morris, 2013). Although legally allowed to work, it is obvious through widely known tropes of the time (the good housewife versus bad female labourer) that women were discouraged from working outside the home. • 8. Communication In Communication Conversation is changing dynamically as society ushers in a new era of communication. Social media has been a revelation in the way society interacts with one another. It is often celebrated for the ability to connect individuals over extensive distances; however, it is quickly creating a disconnect between people communicating face to face. There are three prevalent issues plaguing modern society s interpersonal communication: Social media becomes an addiction, the interaction between reality and the online landscape, and social media teaches society to multitask. Social media has caused attention spanto plummet and society has become increasingly enamored with an online world; thus, causing individuals to be detracted from their environment and less sociable in face to face communication. Renowned movie critic Roger Ebert had an interesting thought on why he believed social media was addicting. In Ebert s blog he wrote about the French word frisson and its meaning. A translation into English would show it means; a brief intense reaction. Ebert theorizes that humans search out for it often. Essentially, what Ebert is acknowledging is that he finds himself addicted to this frisson. He feels the need to search out the quick fix that social media provides. This indicates a possible explanation why society tends to be on their phone during lulled situations (Ebert). Individuals do this to search out frisson, and to distract themselves from their own perceived boredom. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Outbreak of the Spanish Civil War Essay The Outbreak of the Spanish Civil War To this day the Spanish Civil War is still remembered as the single most pivotal moment in the history of Spanish politics. The only way of understanding how 600,000 Spaniards were killed between 1936 and 1939 is to ask ourselves why the civil war broke out in Spain in 1936. There were a number of reasons which led to the civil war in Spain. The main and most significant being the increased political polarization between the left and right wing parties. This polarization primarily began within Spanish society, which had been characterized by its strong religious beliefs and conservative values, as it remained a strict Roman Catholic country for many ... Most of which wanted Spain to return to the Golden Ages of sixteenth century Catholic Spain and were in favour of the Monarchy in order to remain an authoritarian state. This division was highlighted further by a number of pronunciamientos[6] and uprisings between the two sides adding to the increased political tension. For the right, they saw the defence of religious interests as their fundamental political task. [7] Whereas, the liberals reflected the increasingly anti Catholic feeling throughout Spain. Therefore, it can be understood why the liberal views on the Church, and its policies within the second republic to reduce the Church s power, angered the right wing parties enough for them to retaliate through a number of uprisings throughout Spain. Especially during the declaration of the second republic stating that Spain no longer possessed an official religion. During the constitutional monarchy of Alfonso CIII, the left was frustrated by the farce of the electoral system[8], which up until the second republic was formed on the 14th April 1931, remained in favour of local bosses, also given ... Lastly, I will provide a conclusion based on the facts of both articles. The Open Boat begins with a description of men aboard a small boat on a rough sea. These men are all survivors of a shipwreck. The crew knows that, over time, they will grow weaker and things will get worse, not better. They exchange with each other addresses and admonitions , in case all of them do not live through this whole ordeal Later, someone is seen on the shore waving to them. A while later, a crowd gathers, disembarking from a bus. Despite their efforts to let the people know on shore they were in distress, they realize that the people on shore are tourists and that they think they are just simple fisherman. Thoughts of drowning run rampant in every man s mind on that boat. At dawn, the men decided that their only chance is to row toward the distant shore again and swim when the boat finally capsizes. On the Captain s order, the oiler rows the boat directly toward the shore. The boat capsizes and the people on the boat are so weak that it is hard for them to even keep their heads above water. Suddenly, a man appears on shore stripping his clothes off and running into the water. The rescuer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Conflicts were based on religion, equality, nationalism, politics and terrorism. With the encouragement of European settlement, privileges and inequality appeared. As the pressure grew, new nationalistic groups were created, and sometimes they would act as a terrorist organization, just like the FLN group. Even though the problems were increasing in the French colony, there was some collaboration that tried to maintain the peace in it. Some laws that were published enhanced the political power of Algerians in their government, National Assembly in Paris. The Importance Of Lancelot In Malory s Morte D Arthur Malory explicitly links Tristram and Lancelot in their desire for the unattainable and their correspondence as contemporaries confined to new ideas presented as high treason. Elizabeth Kay Harris describes the changes the textual alterations signify in her 1995, Evidence Against Lancelot and Guinevere in Malory s Morte D Arthur: Treason by Imagination . By using a background of law, she argues that the process in Tristram demonstrates the inverse of Lancelot and represents a uniquely English reading of the two. However, Lancelot admires Tristram until he weds a woman other than Iseult the Fair. Capellanus argument should allow these relationships to work, as long as, singular attachment does not form the goal. Both men overstep Capellanus ramifications, finding themselves falling from their lord s graces and ostracized from society. Without this decisive power, male courtiers regained power in relationships and regulated women s involvement in their affairs. Conjuring. Witchcraft. No matter what they chose to call it, witchcraft was an evil association with the devil and the use of magic or the alleged use of magic, in the eyes of the Puritans of Salem, Massachusetts. And it was the alleged part that caused the Salem Witchcraft Trials tragedy of 1692. The Puritans believed the signs of witchcraft were apparent if only people knew what to look for. Witches had physical signs, called witches marks, such as moles or other skin anomalies (Linder В¶15). Anyone in league with the devil was also believed to be unable to recite the Lord s Prayer, and George Burroughs cast serious doubt on the validity of the trials when he recited the Lord s Prayer flawlessly as he stood upon the gallows (Netzley 215). Sadly, it was not enough to spare his life. The magistrates also believed spectral evidence was an acceptable means of identifying a witch. Spectral evidence was testimony that relied on the accusers, who allegedly saw the accused witch s specter loose in Salem, causing pain and trouble to the good people in town (Benson, Brannen and Valentine 1362). Spectral evidence was impossible to prove or disprove, since only the afflicted people could see the specters (Benson, Brannen and Valentine 1362). I really enjoyed both of them because the food tasted delicious and the gift shops had a bunch of cool items such as chocolate, medication, beach towels, and a lot of expensive jewelry and antiques that just cost too much. The waiters and waitresses at the resort were very nice, polite, and were always very entertaining whenever they walked up to you. How Alzheimer s Disease ( Ad ) And Associated Dementias Contemporary Issues Formative Essay Introduction For the purpose of this essay I will be comparing how Alzheimer s Disease (AD) and associated dementias are recognised in the United Kingdom (UK) and responded to, when compared to Italy. I have chosen this subject as there are indications from both countries that dementia sufferers will increase dramatically over the next twenty years. It is estimated that there are 800,000 people in the UK with AD and dementia, this number is expected to double by 2040. At present the cost to the economy is ВЈ23 billion, by 2040 the costs are likely to treble(Gov.UK). REFERENCE NEEDED. In Italy there are approximately 1 million people living with dementia. (Alzheimer s, 2016) It has been suggested by 2020, it is estimated that 584,000 new cases of dementia will occur in the country (Choices, 2016). This this will inevitably put a high demand not only on both National Health Services (NHS) in the UK and in Italy, but also on support services within the care sector, such as carers, voluntary organisations and also families of AD and dementia sufferers. This will also increase the workload on social workers as more assessment of need will have to be carried out to maintain the levels of support needed to sustain an expected quality of life. I will be addressing legislation and policy s adopted by both countries historically and modern day. I will also be discussing diagnosis of AD and dementia, funding, ethical and cultural issues, services ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I personally believe that use of hallucinogens has already become fairly socially acceptable. I feel that my generation is very open minded and is less likely to condemn others for controversial choices than older generations. I feel that it should be socially acceptable, because everyone makes their own choices. If someone is choosing to use hallucinogens on their own time for recreation, and they are not hurting anyone else in the process, there is no reason they should be shamed for that choice. They understand the consequences of their own actions, and can therefore be mature about it and deal with said consequences. At the same time, those who use hallucinogens as a religious rite, such as some southwestern native american tribes do, should not be frowned upon. Christians consume wine in church as part of the eucharist. Nobody tells them that because alcohol is harmful to the human body, they should not do it. Therefore, there is no reason for anyone else to condemn religious groups for using hallucinogens. Lets go back to when men valued thought, for they valued its effect on the world, lets go back and take a look at the father of Christian Existentialism, SГёren Kierkegaard. SГёren Kierkegaard was born to a father who inflicted strict and rigorous religious teaching upon his children. His father felt this was necessary because of his sinful habit that resulted in an affair with his 1st wife s maid. Kierkegaard, after a broken engagement with his love, was handed over to a life of severe melancholy. Yet as a result of both his personal pain and brilliant mind, a literary life few could surpass, and wisdom of thought (does that make sense) ensued.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His answer was summarized in three words, Fear and Trembling. This is something that he spent an immense amount of time answering, and his answers can be condensed into the example that he gave from the Old Testament in the Bible. He gives Christians an example in which to follow, in the patriarch Abraham. The example that Abraham gives, and we are to follow, is found in how Abraham responds to the command to kill his son. For man, especially a father, this command is unfathomable, yet because God wanted to test Abraham (give better reasoning), he told him to sacrifice his son. Kierkegaard looks at Genesis 22:2, it says, He said, Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you. He notes the unbearable precision in the command, when God says take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love (emphasis added) Kierkegaard also takes a close look at the beginning of the next verse, it says, So Abraham rose early in the morning. He notes that some men take this excerpt to men that Abraham was rising early to faithfully carry out his duty. And while that has some truth to it, it is not complete, Kierkegaard emphasizes the fact that he rose early, not because he got a great night of sleep, rather that he wrestled with this command in ... • 25. A Survey on Transformation of BPMN to BPEL Essay III.LITERATURE SURVEY Many researchers have studied the transformation between BPMN and BPEL. Most of the research conducted in this field is analytical in nature. Only few insights exist into the practical use of BPMN. Most notably is the work of Ouyang et al. [10, 11] and [12], who propose that BPMN to BPEL transformation be accomplished by multiple phase matching of pattern and graph transformation. An algorithm for generating readable BPEL code from BPMN model is presented in [10] which generates BPEL code from BPMN model by discovering structural patterns in the BPMN models which in turn are mapped into BPEL structured activities. The original BPD is decomposed into well structured components having one entry and one exit point.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Event handler is enabled while the scope is under execution and thus the corresponding translation is based upon the event action rule. The Standard Process Model (SPM) is decomposed into a collection of event action rules that trigger one another to encode the underlying control flow logic. The fundamental idea is to define precondition set (i.e., encapsulating all the possible ways of reaching an activity) for all the activities in SPM. Each precondition set is associated with an activity and defines the possible way of enabling the activity. Afterwards, all the precondition set with their associated activities are transformed into event action rule which in turn translates into BPEL event handlers. However, this approach only holds for one specific process model type by applying structural restriction on BPDs. Eventually, the resulting BPEL code is not readable and thus difficult to modify and maintain. Since, a well structured pattern impose restriction on BPDs, therefore, Ouyang et al.[12] also present another approach that not only maps block structure in BPMN model but also accounts for quasi structure and flow based acyclic fragment into block structure BPEL. Quasi structure patterns are those patterns which can exhibit well structuredness e.g. splitting a gateway into two gateways without changing semantics to separate the incompatible parts. Tyranny In Greece In the ancient Greek city states and over many centuries, the government (political power) took many forms: held by a single individual: (monarchies and tyrants), or by a select few (oligarchies and aristocracies), or by every male citizen (democracy). A monarchy is a type of governance of the people by a single individual, with the power retained by blood lines. In the pre Classical period, ancient Greece was composed of small geographic units ruled by a local king. Specifically, the Republic by Plato and Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle seem to be their most popular works. In these works they discuss things that are needed to achieve the good life both on an individual level and on a societal level. There is some variance between what the two philosophers think can create the good life. They explore the concepts of eudaimonia, virtue, and soul with the same end result of happiness for all. Through analysis of each philosophers work, we can see that both Plato s definition of the good life and his method to achieve it is far superior to Aristotle s. Furthermore, this concept of the good life is best supported through democratic form of government. Eudaimonia is a Greek word commonly translated as happiness. Some argue that ISO 9000 would significantly improve organizations while others argue that it does nothing but take a lot of time and money to implement and run ISO in an organization. ISO is and independent certification that is responsible for creating and publishing international standards (Dedhia, p.1). Many business people have heard of ISO but don t know the requirements. ISO isn t an acronym, it s derived from the Greek word isos, which means equal (Dedhia, p.1). We develop our own set of values and morals in which we conform. These values develop throughout our life cycle from childhood into adulthood and varies from person to person by affiliations, religious beliefs and interactions with groups we belong to. On the contrary, But that s what folks call me (745). This illustrates a wise man that is well aware of the label given to him but deliberately accepted it. It is also ironic when his wife, Erka, tells Gimpel that he is the father of the child she had four months after their marriage, He seemed to accept her explanation of the child being premature, but then admits, to tell the plain truth, I don t believe her... but then, who really knows how such things are (749)? This shows at what length he d go through to feel accepted by his wife despite what he had to endure from being cheated on to learning that the kids weren t his right before her death. It also shows the reader, despite that Gimpel was being mistreated, he did not let that influence on how he perceived himself as a person or changed his views and beliefs on the world; other people s approach toward him and opinions did not matter. • 42. Examples Of Loyalty In Julius Caesar Loyalty is synonymous with honesty, trustworthiness and honour. But if power is so close to your grasp, what would you do to get it? Good morning Mr Houghton and fellow students, today I will be speaking about how the concept of loyalty is shaped by Machiavelli s The Prince as well as Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, and how being loyal to your country is different from being loyal to your leader, with conflicting loyalty, non conflicting loyalty and loyalty to all. Firstly, I will be speaking about conflicting loyalty. In Julius Caesar, Brutus was Caesar s trusted and close friend. Even though Brutus showed the greatest amount of loyalty to his country, he fails to see how Cassius manipulates him into seeing Caesar as a danger to his Republican idealism and ultimately destroying him. Brutus went about showing his love for Rome in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, it is Mark Antony, a man who is presented as Caesar s close friend who respects his absolute authority, with the quote When Caesar says, Do this , it is performed. His loyalty to his friends and to his country did not conflict like Brutus. He saw Caesar as a noble Roman. Similar to Brutus, his judgement was also flawed, deeming Cassius as not dangerous. Whilst still loyal to Caesar, he negotiates with the assassins, shaking their bloodied hands in an ironic gesture of friendship and respect, with grief and fury in the back of his mind. The funeral speech shows off Antony s rhetorical skills, with the repetition of honourable man when talking about Brutus ironically. Antony was willing to go to war for revenge on the murderers of the noblest man that ever lived in the tide of times. There are examples of non conflicting loyalty in The Prince as well. In chapter three, Machiavelli speaks about living in your occupying territories or colonising them to maintain strong military presence and loyalty. It is a win win situation, hence no conflicting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The political dimension of globalization is evident in the harnessing of neoliberal ideology to enforce and justify sanctions upon Indigenous communities within the Northern Territory (Craig Porter, 2006; Scrimgeour, 2007). Several of the more contested components of the Northern Territory Intervention were born of think tank publications, which set this neoliberal agenda (Scrimgeour, 2007). Neoliberalism is fostered by a global network of think tanks, which are underwritten by corporate sponsors and bring elitist ideals into the mainstream and popular opinion (Scrimgeour, 2007). Australia s major think tanks are the Institute for Public Affairs (IPA) and the Centre for Independent Studies (CIS), both of which receive major funding from mining companies (Scrimgeour, 2007). Such think tanks, promoting neoliberal ideals of deregulation, liberalization, and privatisation of the market and public assets, as well as supporting the dismantling of the welfare state, have considerable influence on the ideology of the Government in forming policy (Scrimgeour, 2007). Howl By William Ginsberg Howl by Allen Ginsberg: A Reflection on Institutions In the midst of radical changes in America during the 1950s as a result of the Cold War, the Beat Generation came into existence. • 45. Roofing In Commercial Building Why Metal Roofing Is A Good Choice For Your New Commercial Building If you re planning to build a new commercial building, one of the things you ll need to consider is the type of roof you ll have installed. Since your company deals with the public, you want a roof that has an attractive appearance, but you also want one that requires little maintenance. Metal roofing is an excellent option. Here are a few reasons why metal is a good choice in commercial roofing. Good For Low Slopes Metal roofing is suitable for all types of building architecture, even for buildings that have low slopes. Asphalt, which is another popular roofing type, cannot be used on low slope roofs because water will form puddles on the roof and flow under the shingles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Insects and pests have no interest in chewing metal, so the panels won t deteriorate over time. Metal roofing is also treated during the manufacturing process to be rust resistant. All these qualities combine to make metal one of the most durable roofing materials you can choose for your building. Metal Roofs Maintain Their Appearance Metal roofing comes in a variety of colors, so you can choose a blue, green, or red roof for your building if you want. The color is baked on the metal, so you don t have to worry about it peeling off, and you ll never have to repaint the roof. Some types of paint even reflect UV rays, so they help reduce energy costs for cooling your building. Plus, the UV protection helps prevent color fading over the years. Once you install the metal roof, you probably won t have to do any maintenance or repairs on it unless it is vandalized or an unusually strong storm rolls through your area. A metal roof can give your building an upscale appearance so it is attractive to customers and clients. Since it is available in different colors, it doesn t have an industrial look and it is much less labor intensive than maintaining asphalt shingles. • 46. Reflection Paper On Narcissism Reading this week s articles became all too personal for me as I began to reflect on the book that I am writing in which the protagonist is a narcissist. When telling people about my book most people cannot get past the fact that the protagonist is my mother, but her narcissistic personality is what created the storyline for my entire text. She has many of the classic attributes of a narcissist, my favorite (from a writer s perspective) is her immense lack of empathy. It is extremely incredible that what little empathy she can find she can control based on who she is with and what the specific circumstances are. While the book may shed light on some of the negative things she has done in her past or the negative behaviors associated with her narcissismI have been sure to include an entire chapter detailing my belief that narcissism should be considered an objective personality type. Narcissism has an enormous amount of negative connotation surrounding it which is ironic to be because there are positive attributes some of which many of us share. The article mentioned, Most of us have elements of all three, when referring to the three main personality types of erotics, obsessives, and narcissists (Maccoby). I agree with Maccoby which is why I think it is important that we continue to find a place in the workplace for those who are narcissistic and abrasive because even though we may not agree with their style we must welcome diversity in order to avoid groupthink. I think that ensuring a well balanced mix of personalities in a workplace can boost production and allow leaders to rise from the shadows of abrasive and narcissistic leaders who may have overstayed their welcome. Another benefit to maintaining the abrasive personality in the workplace is to encourage the high achiever in the room who may have the leadership skills to take over a conversation and just need the right opportunity to do so. If a high achiever gets fed up with another s behavior it may serve as a catalyst for his/her management of the group. If an abrasive worker is also a brilliant one, then we must give him/her a chance to find success within the organization. If one allows his/her personality to get in the way of success, ...
