Marriage Of Figaro
The Marriage of Figaro, or Le Nozze di Figaro as originally titled in Italian, is a light hearted opera
buffa in four acts with musical setting by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and libretto by Lorenzo Da
Ponte. The libretto is based on La folle journГ©e, ou le Mariage de Figaro (The Madcap Day, or
the Marriage of Figaro), a comically titled stage play by Pierre Beaumarchais. Mozart s opera is in
fact part of a trilogy. The Marriageof Figaro continues the story of The Barber of Seville, another of
Beaumarchais plays adapted for opera by Paisiello. Composed in 1786 and originally a reasonable
success, The Marriage of Figaro s acclaim has grown much greater and is celebrated and
performed today around the world, so widely successful that it has even... Show more content on

In anticipation of attending the performance, I read up on the opera s plot and watched videos
of key moments. I became familiar with the characters and formed expectations of each. For
instance, I expected Count Almaviva to be foolishly arrogant, with an I expect to be obeyed
attitude. However, I was surprised and shocked to discover how very human each personage
really was. A typical novel is told in the point of view of one individual with whom we, the
audience, tend to sympathize with. We know their thoughts and feelings and we cheer them on ,
while despising the antagonists. In Guth s The Marriage of Figaro, I found myself wishing for
good closure for each and every one of the characters despite the fact that they are the source of
each other s misery.
Despite a solid effort from all voice parts and some disconcertingly beautiful standout arias,
overall, I found the libretto and Guth s atmospheric changes to be much too disconnected,
resulting, for me, in a somewhat disappointing Marriage of Figaro. Those hoping to experience
the classical brilliance of a Mozart Da Ponte opera will come out of the theatre dissatisfied. On the
other hand, those wanting a glimpse of traditional operatic music and dialogue with added
psychological depth will take immense pleasure in viewing COC s 2016 production of The

How Did John Dee Use Astrology In The Elizabethan Era
Astrology is defined as the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies
interpreted as having an influence on human affairs and the natural world. During the Elizabethan
era astrology, was used as an influence for day to day affairs. The most known figures of the
Elizabethan era, Queen Elizabeth herself and Shakespeare, used astrology. Astrology was an
influence on Shakespeare s plays and Queen Elizabeth s decisions in daily life. Astrology not only
influenced its most prominent figures but the northern part of Europe as a whole. The common
person in Europe had a belief in astrology that helped influenced their daily life. Astrology was a

Shakespeare s writing even drew influence from the famous astrologers of the Elizabethan era. In
Shakespeare s play the Tempest, the main character is said to be based on Queen Elizabeth s
Astrologer, John Dee (Alchin). Shakespeare incorporated astrology in all types of ways in the
plays he would write. One of the most known phrases from Shakespeare s plays or just a phrased
that is known in general, star crossed lovers has an astrological origin. The phrase, star crossed
lovers in astrological terms means that the stars or fate are working against the star crossed
pairing of lovers to be together (Papp). Shakespeare was influenced by astrology and incorporated

Analysis Of The Story The Lady Or The Tiger
Using the narrative skills we have discussed in class, create an ending to the story of The Lady or
the Tiger, picking up from the segment below:
Was the tiger going to come or the absolutely gorgeous lady everyone had been talking about? So
many questions raced through the lover s mind as the door opened. His fate had rested within the
princess, and he trusted her with all his heart. He loved her so much, and not being with the
princess pained more than he could ever demonstrate.
Once he had caught the subtle gesture of the princess, it was defined for the lover which path in his
life s forked road he would follow. The truth of the princess or her betrayal, the lady or the tiger, life
or death?
He gulped as the door creaked open. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Then, he moved his glance to the right to see the king with a big evil smirk on his face. The king
knew that if he had set the tiger on the lover, his daughter would hate him. So no one but him knew
that behind the other door was another beautiful lady hidden.
Later that night, when the lover and the maiden had fallen asleep. The princess quick snuck around
the guards and into their bedroom, tip toeing towards the young maiden.
Reaching into her pocket, she withdrew a sharp object. And, the next thing you know, there is
blood scattered everywhere around the room, and even on the princess s clothes. Then, she
carefully went moved to the other side of the bed and awoke the lover.
He slowly awakened and sensed someone above him, that aroma was pretty familiar to him... it
was the princess. He was ecstatic, perhaps the whole thing, the trial, arena, wedding and just
perhaps it all was a terrifying nightmare. He glanced to see the other side of the bed to make sure
it was, but instead, he saw a lifeless body of the young maiden. He glanced towards the princess, a
question right on his lips. But, the question had been answered looking at the bloody knife in her
hand.
How could you? the lover whispered.
What! You didn t expect me to let you live your life with her... I mean what about us? Plus, this

Specific Heat Of An Unknown Metal
Objective: The objective of this experiment was to discover the specific heat of an unknown metal.
By heating a metal then placing it in a calorimeter and taking the temperature of the solution as the
heat transfer from the metal to the solution. This is done using a calorimeter, thermometer, 2
200mm test tube, an unknown metal, hot plate, 2 50ml graduated cylinders, sodium hydroxide, and
hydrochloric acid. The techniques that are used in this experiment is cleaning glassware, disposing
of chemicals, measuring mass, transferring solids, transferring liquids and solutions, heating liquids
and solutions, and measuring the volume of solutions by examining the meniscus. Introduction:
Chemical reactions always exerts some form of thermal energy, that energy then applies changes to
its reactants, this is called Calorimetry which is the analysis of temperature change or heatchange

In Part B of the experiment, when observing heat change within a calorimeter, analyzing the heat
change within a reaction would be called the enthalpy of the reaction, since an acid and base

of two quantitative measurements in this experiment one of which is the specific heat of the
metal, the specific heat the metal is just how much energy that is required in order for one gram
of the substance to increase by one degree Celsius. Similar to enthalpy of the reaction, enthalpy of
neutralization is when the energy released per mole of water formed in an acid base

Progesterone Essay
Progesterone, a type of female sex hormone which belong to a steroid hormone class known as
progestogen, has a major role in the development of oral contraception. Progesterone is produced in
ovaries, adrenal gland and in placenta when women get pregnant. In the menstrual cycle, ovary
unceasingly alternates between two phases: the follicular phase, which is characterized by the
presence of maturing follicles and the luteal phase, which is governed by the presence of corpus
luteum. Ovulationoccurs in between these phases. Corpus luteum, which is formed through
luteinization of ruptured follicle after ovulation, secretes large amounts of progesterone and small
amount of estrogen.

Levonorgestrel inhibits secretion of GnRH, LH and FSH through negative feedback to
hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis. Levonorgestrel inhibits secretion of LH and FSH from
anterior pituitary and these indirectly causes a delay in follicle development. Decreased level of
LH also lead to delay or inhibition of LH surge, which then inhibits ovulation. According to
Danielsson (2010), when LNG was administrated at two to three days before LH surge, the LH
peak was inhibited or delayed. However, when LNG was provided one day before or on the day of
LH surge, it failed to inhibit ovulation.
Levonorgestrel has a high level of efficacy to prevent pregnancy as an emergency contraceptive
(EC). It is also relatively safe to use and well tolerated. It is relatively cheaper than other oral
contraceptive. In addition, for women over 16 years old, certain brand of Levonorgestrel can also
be obtained without a prescription from pharmacies. However, Levonorgestrel only effective if
taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. It is also only effective before LH level start to
rise in follicular phase. Headache, abdominal pain, and etc. are very common in women who taken
Levonorgestrel.
Ulipristal or Ulipristal acetate (UPA), the first selective progesterone receptor modulator (SPRM),
possess both antagonistic and partial agonist properties. It is commonly used as an oral emergency
contraceptive.

Argumentative Essay On Metal Music
Metal music: Noise pollution of today Metal music is a genre of rock music that developed in
the late sixties and early seventies. It is characterized by its loud distorted guitars, dense bass
and drum sound and vigorous vocals. Because of its different and a bit aggressive sound, metal
music is not everyone s cup of tea. Sadly, metal community is often faced with a lot of
stereotypical opinions. The most widespread stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are
about the devil and hell. One more stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are just pointless
screaming. All these stereotypes are wrong because metal music has a very wide range of
lyrical themes and, next to usual loud songs, there are also some very nice and emotional
ballads. Only problem with metal music is the fact that this kind of music is often associated
with drugs, alcohol and violence. It is true that some metal fans consume drugs and alcohol, but
that does not mean that all fans of metal music should be categorized as drug addicts and
alcoholics because those people s addiction is a result of their bad choices and it has nothing to do
with the music they listen to. Talking about violence is pointless because if you compare a metal
concert with a football game you will see that metal fans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

important thing is the research that shows that there is a strong link between heavy metal and high
intelligence. That research proves that metal music has meaning and that it is not just some random

The Effects Of Binge Drinking On Teens
For my research project I decided to look at binge drinking in teens. Binge drinking interested me
because so many teenagers drink alcohol when they go out and don t know what consequences it
has on the body. Binge drinking is the consumption of an unreasonable amount of alcohol in a short
period of time. I have chosen to research What are the psychological and physiological effects of
binge drinkingin teens? . I chose this question because I wanted to inform myself and other teens on
the effects of binge drinking. The research methods used throughout my research were internet
articles and a survey.
After researching what is binge drinking I found that it is the consumption of a large amount of
alcohol on a single occasion or drinking at a constant rate over a number of days or even weeks.
Binge drinking is risky business. The powerful liquid known as alcohol has major effects on a
person. Alcohol has the ability to wreck a person s life and change it permanently. Alcohol impairs
judgement making it easy for someone to do or say something that he or she will regret. For a
male to binge drink he has to drink 5 or more standard drinks in a 2 hour period. For a female it is
only 4 or more standard drinks in a 2 hour period. This could vary of the weight and age of the
person. When conducting my survey I asked the participants how many drinks they believe
classified as binge drinking.

Huck Finn Should Not Be Banned Essay
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is about a boy who sets out on an adventure that leads him
away from social restrictions and out into a world of unexplored places. Within the story it holds
many questionable events. Those events spark doubt in readers minds and they start to shy away
from the book and reject it immediately. I believe that, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, should
not be banned in classrooms due to the book including important topics such as slavery, morality,
and history.
In a blog on Huffington Post, the writer Galanty Miller, wrote about the Philadelphia High School
banning Huckleberry Finn. Saying that it was a decision that made no sense, and adding an
example that showed how it made no sense to ban it. That even if it made students uncomfortable it
is an important piece of literature that went over racism and intolerance. He also wrote about how
nowadays everyone is uncomfortable any content that is considered challenging. That being
challenged isn t necessarily a harmful notion, and includes an example from the movie Dead Poets
Society .

property. He says that even though Jim is a human being, it is wrong to keep someone s personal
belongings away from them. That he did a criminal act, but isn t it an acceptable idea to understand
that certain notions are wrong. Although it s easy to see where Hubschman is coming from, but
taking someone s freedom and ruling over them unfairly is something that should not be made

Implementing Mandatory Council Meeting Of All Plc Teams
One thing that is a for certain in education is changes will take place. Education mirrors the world
we live in, and that is, change is inevitable. However, this process is not always accepted by the
entire staff of a school and may be found burdensome to others. As a teacher leader, when certain
changes in the schooltake place regarding a rule, the entire staff needs to come together to ensure
the rule is being implemented and enforced. One such change that is happening at my school is the
once a week mandatory meeting of all PLC teams. The decision to implement mandatory PLC
meetings did not go over well with all teachers. When a school makes a rule or policy change, there
are parts of the organization, such as the political, human resource, and cultural perspective that feel
the effect. I am part of a vast school district in Texas. I understand that this rule change about PLC
meetings came from school leaders that are higher up in the organizational structure, and moved
down the chain of command from the principals to the teachers. Understanding the structure of an
organization is critical for the organization to move forward (Laureate Education, Inc., 2007). My
district believes and supports the different PLC teams in the school district. At the start of this year,
the entire staff was told by the principal that all PLC teams need to meet once a week, and all
minutes of the meeting need to be documented and emailed to administration. In my opinion, I
thought this was

The Popularity of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens Essay
The Popularity of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
I Think that A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is still popular today because it has a good
moral story and people still enjoy a good old fashioned ghost story. This is because a lot of us are
still interested in the afterlife and if such things as ghosts even exist we are fascinated by them and
a novel with ghosts in, we cannot put it down. The moral story which seems even in modern day
society to stick with us and we are still very much obsessed with Christmas and the joy that goes

A Christmas Carol has changed from the days that Charles Dickens wrote it by constantly updating
itself. There are numerous ways a book can update itself but A Christmas Carol has been made
in to a funny film A Muppets Christmas Carol which scrooge is played by Michael Caine which
makes it more interesting to the generation of the times. It also makes the plot more appealing to
the younger generation who will read books such as A Christmas Carol . The Muppets have
done a fantastic job of recreating the story and is told by two Muppets who follow scrooge
around the story commentating to the scenes that need playing. Also a major part that has
changed is the language; this version has got rid of confusing and mind baffling words in some
of the newer versions of the classical story. An example of this is Spectre and Humbug which is
a way of saying someone has been annoying or talking a load of nonsense. Now they use words
that even the youngest of people will recognize. This also makes the book more interesting
because it does not seem as old or as outdated, which in most cases is a good thing.
Dickens describes his characters in such a way that they leave a lasting effect on you and a visual
description or appearance in your mind.

Power of Choice in Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange Essay
The choice between good and evil is a decision every man must make
throughout his life in order to guide his actions and control his future.
This element of choice, no matter what the outcome, displays man s power as
an individual. Any efforts to control or influence this choice between
good and evil will in turn govern man s free will and enslave him. In the
novel A ClockworkOrange, the author uses symbolism through imagery, the
characterization of Alex, and the first person narrative point of view to
prove that without the ability to choose between good and evil, Man becomes
a slave.

groodies (22). This proves that he feels he must display his power through
his abuse of choice. His love for violence symbolises his abuse of power
as an evil trait, but his love for music symbolises his human side. In the
end of the story Alex decides that he is ready to become a man. During
this rapid evolution from adolescence to manhood, Alex chooses a wife, a
family, a life, and in essence he chooses good for the first time in the
story. There was your humble narrator . . . I knew what was happening, O
my brothers. I was growing up (147). Alex realizes that he may choose
good and still maintain a strong element of choice. He becomes stronger
because he now has a broader selection to choose from. He sees that the
abuse of the ability of choice is not what makes Man powerful. It is
instead, the realization that the choice between good and evil, no matter
what decision, is the power within Man.
Using the characterization of Alex, it effectively illustrates how
the element of choice is linked to the power within man. The author uses
violence to represent the abuse of power when the right

One such example is the rat, a common motif in the story. When Julia and Winston were together
in the room, a rat appeared, which rattled Winston. He commented, Rats! In this room (144).
Clearly, Winston dislikes rats, and can go so far as to fear them. The Party uses this fear to their
advantage and tortures Winston in Room 101 to manipulate his thoughts about Julia, who he loved.
The Party wanted him to abandon all perceived loyalties except those towards the Party. Therefore,
the rat symbolizes a common fear in everyone. For Winston, it just so happens to be this animal.

Abortion Vs Abortion Essay
Abortion (Roe v. Wade) Abortion should be an independent decision; no one should tell you can t
have an abortion. Being that abortion is something very personal and very dangerous if not done
correctly problems come out of it very easily. With that being said law suits happen which gets the
court get involved, and laws are placed with restrictions on abortionare made.
The judicial branch helped in every court case about abortion, by showing how the people feel and
attacks the problems that are associated with abortions and what can be done to fix these problems.
For instance the case between Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Casey over
the, Pennsylvania s 1982 Abortion Control Act claiming that it violated the Court s decision by
burdening women s access to abortion. In their decision, the Supreme Court upheld the basis of
Roe while also deeming parts of the Pennsylvania law to be constitutional. David H. Souter wrote
the majority opinion, which reaffirmed a woman s constitutional right to an abortion. But the Court
also clarified that states could place restrictions on abortion as long as they did not present the
undue burden test. In Casey, the justices defined as a substantial obstacle in the path of a woman
seeking an abortion before the fetus attains viability. The majority determined that the waiting
period and the parental notification part of the law was fine but the spousal notification clause was
not. However the implementation of the undue burden test continues to be debated from policy to
policy. In the case of Monday s ruling on Whole Women s Health, the test was enough to strike
down Texas law.
Legislation played a part in passing laws and looking at all aspects of the subject. For legislation
to prohibit a specific abortion procedure, the partial birth abortion procedure, was passed in the
108th Congress. The partial birth abortion ban act is an example of Congress restricting the
performance of a medical procedure. Legislation that would stop the transport of minors over state
lines in order for the minor to get an abortion has been brought up in a number of Congresses. The
courts did not settle the issue, the courts prompted debate and a variety of

Analysis Of The Poem The Daughter Of The Dancers
The Virtue Of Innocence
Innocence is a glorified trait in nearly any culture around the world. Many strive to keep the
innocence they are born with, and plenty others spend a lifetime attempting to regain the innocence
they have lost with age. In the following photos, innocence is a common theme, which each
photographer approaches in a unique way. There is a dull and unsettling truth behind the innocent
demonstration of young ladies acting much more mature than their age. Manuel Alvarez Bravo is
one of the premier figures of modern photography and the main photographer among the immense
Mexican artists of the twentieth century. In The Daughter of the Dancers, Bravo illustrates the idea
of youthfulness on the verge of loosing its innocence. Sally Mann, a photographer from the 1980s
90s, caught a reflection of grown up moves inside the innocence and youth of adolescents in Candy
Cigarette through her utilization of organization, field point, and technique. In 1985 National
Geographic photographer Steve McCurry went through Afghan towns concentrating on the
evacuees and recording their hardships. The Afghan Girl is a classical image of lost innocence; the
girl was forced to grow up way to fast. Her innocence did not survive, but she did.
The innocence of children is secured by the individuals who adore them with the goal that they
grow up as actually unaffected by preventable undesirable contributions as could be expected under
the circumstances. With her back to the camera,

My Favorite Hobbies
In order to be able to call something a hobby, I must enjoy doing it, and be able to do it for years.
At eighteen years old, fitting my experiences and activities into those two categories is quite
difficult. My lack of experience in life gives me a limited view, but the hobbies that I do enjoy, I
take pride in. I grew up playing outside with my brother, so we were always doing something
together as kids. Whenever my mom would take us out grocery shopping she would blare the
music in the car loud and sing to whatever was playing. Having those memories and experiences
helped shape me into who I am today. Throughout this life, I have embraced many forms of hobbies
and entertainment; however, playing sports, traveling, and listening to music are my three greatest
passions.
First, my absolute favorite hobby would be playing sports. I loved playing sports as a kid, and I
especially have a strong passion for playing tennis. In the mornings I would ride my bike with my
dad and brother to the local park, and we would play for a few hours. Watching tennis on TV led
me to admiring a respectful tennis Pro in the name of Roger Federer. Watching him play against
others led me to wanting to play more. Consequently, I played tennis in High School for four
years, and I took every opportunity to study his techniques, in order to practice them. I looked up
to him for his on court grace, humility for the sport, and ability to play the game.

Essay about The Pros and Cons of Home Schooling
The Pros and Cons of Home Schooling Home schooling is an important issue in the educational
world today. Whether or not a parent has the right to take their child out of public schools to
educate them at home has become a widely talked about subject. Over the past decade, some 18,260
home schools have registeredas home schools, and this number continues to grow (Clark/Havice).
This issue, although intense and multi layered, is often divided into two distinct groups those who
oppose it, thinking it prevents the child from learning the essentials for social life, and those who
advocate it, thinking that it brings the family together, allowing the parents to control what the
child learns, and permits them to educate the children one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In addition to the lack of social skills, children also face the problem with going to universities.
Colleges are reluctant to admit home school graduates because they did not have an accredited

into problems when applying for college. Home schooling requires that one parent must stay at
home and teach the children. Families have to give up one parent s full time salary. Rachel
Gehlbach obtained a college degree and studied theology, computers and social sciences before
she had children. She notes that she could probably get a good job in Milwaukee, but she has
chosen remain at home and teach the children. They bake bread and garden to help save money
on the family s grocery bill (Tastad). There is also the price of school supplies to contend with;
school supplies tend to be more expensive for home schooled students. This can make the loss of
income harder (Kang).
Since parents are the teachers in a home schooling environment, they have ultimate authority. They
can have an oppressive amount of control over the student. Parents spending more time with their
children may seem like an advantage, but there comes a point where the students need time away
from their family and their parents. School is a place where students can socialize with people
outside of their family and not be under their parents constant observation. Eventually,

Organic Solvents And Nonpolar Solvents
As mentioned in the discussion, olive oil, vegetable oil, crisco, and lard were soluble in
nonpolar solvents and insoluble in polar solvents. This is due to the chemical composition of
polar and nonpolar substances which results from the molecular shape as well as properties of
dissolving solutes in solution. Polar substances are hydrophilic and contain polar Van Der Waals
interactions (intermolecular forces) such as dipole dipole forces, ion dipole forces, and hydrogen
bonding. Nonpolar substances are hydrophobic and contain non polar Van Der Waals interactions.
Like dissolve like is the reason only polar solutes dissolve in polar solvents and why nonpolar
solutes dissolve in nonpolar solvents. Molecules with similar polarity have similar intermolecular
forces and therefore, can interact with each, or in this case dissolve9. Additionally, the solubilityof a
compound is determined by the length of the hydrocarbon chain. Long hydrocarbon chains such as
the one found in oleic acid makes a compound more insoluble10. Therefore, since the lipids used in
this experiment were hydrophobic substances and each lipid has long hydrocarbon chains, the
results were consistent with the scientific literature and principles. Another factor affecting the
solubility of the olive oil, vegetable oil, crisco, and lard is the principle of hydrophobic interaction.
Hydrophobic interaction refers to when nonpolar solutes are in the presence of polar solvents,
mainly water. When this happens, the

Lesson of the Moth Poetry Analysis
Amber Brewer Dr. Fussell ENGL 1302 April 8, 2011 The lesson of the moth Analysis by Don
Marquis The title of this poem by Don Marquis is The Lesson of the Moth because it is a poem
about the thoughts of a moth and his outlook on life. The overall poem would be considered
argumentative being the moth is trying to inform the man that he should live his life and let his
hair down a little more instead of relishing the everyday routines of life. This is shown in
paragraph 3 when the moth says But we get bored with the routine/and crave beauty/and
excitement. (18 20)Another example of the passage being argumentative is when the man says and
before I could argue him/out of his philosophy. (43 44) Don Marquis expressed several tones...

The speaker expresses how the moth relates excitement with beauty and also by saying fire is
beauty too. The word excitement could mean to the moth having fun and living life. However,
compared to the man, the word excitement could mean trouble or risky being that the moth is
trying to fry himself on the electric bulb. In conclusion, Don Marquis message that he was

Oedipus And Siddhartha Research Paper
Siddhartha by Herman Hesse and Oedipus the King by Sophocles are connected by the main
characters journey through suffering and self discovery. Siddhartha and Oedipus both suffer and
find out who they really are. Siddhartha started out as a boy who wanted to find enlightenment
through the teachings of others. Later in life however, he realizes that wisdom and enlightenment
are things you must discover for yourself. When Siddharthawas at his lowest point he believed that
He was full of surfeit, full of misery, full of death; there was nothing left in the world that could
lure him, that could delight him, that could comfort him. He yearned to know nothing more about
himself, to find peace, to be dead. Siddhartha felt like his whole world was over, and at that time he

Siddhartha would live on, and eventually discover himself and be open to everything the world
has to show him he would be at peace. At the beginning of the play, Oedipus was a king who
wished to save his city from a plague. He was determined to do everything in his power to help
his people. When the prophet Teiresias refuses to impart his knowledge that could save Thebes,
Oedipus grows angry. Agitated and spiteful from being mocked, Teiresias tells Oedipus the truth:
that Oedipus is the murderer of the former king, he is the reason his people suffer, and that his
entire family lives in shame and they don t know it. Oedipus does not believe him, and is in
denial about all that he has heard. Later, Oedipus still seeks the true criminal, with as much vigor
as before. I must discover who I am, know the secret of my birth, no matter how humble, how
vile. However, he is unprepared for the truth, and when he finally realizes who he is, he breaks.
Oedipus slashes out his own eyes, so he would not have to look at anything ever

Dog Parks Benefits
I strongly agree a dog parks benefits all. I think that every state should have a dog park. Dogs need
to exercise. You cant walk your dog without a leash in public areas. Plus it would raise property
values.
If a dog doesnt exercise it becomes lazy. The dog can also become unhealthy. Most of the time
dogs can t just run around any where they want. If they had a park then no one would have to
worry about the dangers of someone being bitten. If dogs are always house bond it can cause bad
behavior. It can even cause for the dog to attack the owner. Which does nt sound like a good thing.

Method Acting
The Magic Touch of the Method Actor Method acting allows actors to go beyond the conventional
and practical way to act and make the work more human, more alive, more exciting, more amusing,
and more entertaining. According to its critics, Method acting counteracts the original form of
acting because the actorconcentrates more on himself rather than the development of the character.
Despite this claim, Method acting continues to be the key technique actors use to create in
themselves the thoughts and feelings of their characters, so as to develop convincing performances.
Evoked by Constantin Stanislavski at the Moscow Art Theatrein the early 20th century, Method
acting quickly spread on to the stage and screen at the end of the 40s and early 50s and has

Stanislavski wanted a stage where his audience would be so involved forgetting they were an

Seasonality is described as systemic and a calendar related effect. In the real world, seasonal
events affect the price and demand for particular products and/or services. For instance,
Christmas is a time when retail stores experience a large influx of consumers. In the last month
of 2005, an estimated 21.1 billion dollars ($500,000 per minute) was spent by Australians
leading up to the Christmas period (Fleur Leyden 2005, Business). In the same way, seasonal
events in World of Warcraft influence price and demand for particular products and/or services.
During Christmas time the cities within World of Warcraft are decorated with trees and
adornments. At the same time players are required to complete quests, in order to progress in the
game, that are only available during this seasonal event. Candles are a major component in
completing these quests. As demand increases so does the price of raw materials to make candles.
By understanding seasonality and its affects, players learn that they can increase there profits by
savings the raw materials leading up to the calendar event, and demand the highest price when the
time is right. Crafting in World of Warcraft is known as a

Short Note On Barometric Pressure At Pikes Peak
Generally, barometric pressure at sea level is 760 mmHg.
Generally, barometric pressure at Pikes Peak is approx. 450 mmHg (altitude approx 14,115 ft.)
At this high altitude there will be a decreased PiO2, which will lead to decreased PAO2 and PaO2
tensions. The decreased air density, humidity and temperature at Pike s Peak can lead to water loss,
ventilatory changes and alternations in pulmonary hemodynamics. Decreases in pulmonary
vasoconstriction through decreases alveolar oxygen tension, as well as increases in pulmonary
vascular resistance and pulmonary artery pressure, are seen at this high altitude.
At higher altitudes respiration rate is increased which leads to increases in ventilation (possibly a
five fold increase from sea level). Chemoreceptors in the arterial blood vessels are stimulated to
signal the brain to increase ventilation. The increase in ventilation is associated with increased
breathing frequency and tidal volume.
Hypoxia is one of the major problems associated with this increase in altitude. This is due to the
fact that the partial pressure of oxygen decreases proportionately with increases in altitude. Carbon
dioxide that is continually excreted from the pulmonary blood to the alveoli along with water
vaporizing in the inspired air from the respiratory surfaces dilute the oxygen in the alveoli which
cause the oxygen concentration to decrease.
Due to being exposed to a low PO2 at such a fast rate after opening the plane door, acute

Eric Schlosser s Fast Food Nation And The Jungle
Fast food restaurants exude bright colors, distribute meals with toys, and create a sense of
happiness, but what truly goes on behind the scenes of this magical industry? In Eric Schlosser s
Fast Food Nation and Upton Sinclair s The Jungle, the authors use similar rhetorical strategies to
reveal the motives and unconventional practices of the food industry. Schlosser conveys his
purpose through the utilization of pathos, ethos, anecdotes and imagery as compared to Sinclair
who uses historical references and figurative language as well as imagery and pathos. Schlosser
exposes the fast food industry s behind the scenes operations through the use of imagery. Schlosser

Schlosser employs anecdotes in order to evoke emotion from his readers to achieve his purpose.
One anecdote the author includes is the story of Alex Donley, a six year old boy. Alex Donley
ate a tainted hamburger from Jack in the box that led him to become infected with E. coli
0157:H7 (Schlosser 200). This disease obliterated his entire body and progressed rapidly. Alex
died within five days. The author uses anecdotes such as Alex s to evoke sympathy and fear
from his readers, especially parents with young children. The stories make parents and anyone
who buys fast food reconsider what they are putting in their bodies for if a young boy can die
from a simple burger, then what s to prevent others, kids, or even one s self from becoming the
next victim in the vicious industry that is fast food? The use of anecdotes ultimately helps the
author unveil the beast that is the fast food industry by pulling on the heartstrings of Americans.
The author displays the harsh actuality of the fast food industry through the use of ethos. Schlosser
s writing in Fast Food Nation is from a first person point of view for the most part due to the fact
that the anecdotes and people that are mentioned throughout the book are people or stories the
author has witnessed himself, heard from the source himself, or met himself. For instance, Kenny is
a man that is introduced in Chapter 8. Kenny worked for a meatpacking company and met with

EVs are less polluting even if the electricity comes from coal fired power plants. Furthermore, the
emissions of coal fired power plants can be controlled and regulated in ways not possible for
vehicles, as the number power plants is miniscule compared to the number of gas powered

meet the requirements of the ZEV Mandate. Car and oil companies joined the Federal Government
to sue the State of California and overturn the ZEV Mandate.
Federal Government and oil companies put forward hydrogen fuel cells as a better alternative to

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis Essay
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
Mere Christianity, by C. S. Lewis, is written as set of guidelines of Christian belief. Lewis does
not say there is any particular way to believe but he does make a point that the topic of religion
itself is serious. As you consider whether you want to believe or not, you have to recognize how
much thought it requires, and how thought provoking a process this decision is. Lewis covers
Christianity in four different books within his book. In book one, Lewis discusses the Law of
Nature and makes note of a tendency in humans of appealing to a standard of absolute truth in
quarrels and arguments. He calls this standard the Law of Nature or the Moral Law. The Law isn t
the same as the law of gravity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lewis argument in the third book is most important to the point I want to discuss. He argues
through this chapter the Christian behavior. Morality is what he considers to be the basics of good
Christian behavior. Lewis states that morality is not simply, something that prevents you from
having a good time , but rather morals are the directions for running the human machine . Every
moral rule is there to prevent wear and tear on the way machine operates. He realizes that is why
the rules seem to be constantly getting in the way of are natural behavior. Lewis sees that some
people think in terms of moral ideals not rules and obedience. Ideals suggest preference to
personal taste. Something that subjective would be meaningless in practice. Idealistic notions are
meaningless unless we try to carry them out. Acting on ideals requires rules. Lewis uses the
analogy of the ship to show how ideals without rules can go wrong. If the ships keep on having
crashes they will not be able to sail. If their steering gears do not work they will not be able to
avoid crashes.
The cardinal virtues are seven virtues that help guide us to have good morality. Prudence is the first
virtue and is having the common sense enough to think about what you are doing and what are the
consequences. Temperance is finding moderation in your lifestyle. Justice includes traits like
honesty, the ability to give and take, keeping promises, and so on. Fortitude includes two kinds of

The Twentieth Century is a time period that is fundamentally characterized as a century of
revolutions, advancements and tragedies. Women rights and race equality lead by Dr. Martin

The Scarlet Letter By Nathanial Hawthorne
Acceptance
Introduction
In June 1642, in the Puritan town of Boston, a crowd gathers to witness the punishment of Hester
Prynne, a young woman found guilty of adultery. She is required to wear a scarlet A on her dress
to shame her. She must stand on the scaffold for three hours, to be exposed to public humiliation.
As Hester approaches the scaffold, many of the women in the crowd are angered by her beauty and
quiet dignity.
The Scarlet Letter written by Nathanial Hawthorne centers on sin, identity and society. The
meaning of the A in the Scarlet Letter is meant to mean Adulterer . The meaning is not definite,
the A meaning rather ambiguous is taken to mean what the person wants it to mean, equivocally
it can be said that the meaning(s) of the A mirrors the beliefs and thoughts of its onlookers. The
meaning of A as a motif is a recurring concept and idea centering on society and identity. She had
wandered, without rule or guidance, into a moral wilderness... Her intellect and heart had their
home, as it were, in desert places, where she roamed as freely as the wild Indian in his woods...
The scarlet letter was her passport into regions where other women dared not tread. Shame,
Despair, Solitude! These had been her teachers stern and wild ones and they had made her strong,
but taught her much amiss. The A was meant to cripple Hester; to be a warning a reminder to
others that sin would forever follow till death, as this was puritan belief. Hester though lonely

A Brief Note On Web Mining And Web Materials Essay
Abstract Web mining is the use of Data mining frameworks to actually discover and concentrate
data from web archives and administrations. Web mining is three sorts: Web use Mining, Web

The Oregon Death With Dignity Act
1.The Oregon Death with Dignity Act was put into effect on October 27, 1997. This act allowed
physicians to prescribe to terminally ill patients a lethal dose of medication in order to hasten their
death, even though euthanasia is prohibited in the United States. According to Katrina Hedberg,
this act has been revised by Oregonlegislature, but has still been brought to attention of the United
States Supreme Court on raised questions of legality. In order to receive a prescription for the Death
with Dignity Act, the patient must reside in Oregon, be a terminally ill adult, and should be
expected to die within a six month time frame. Along with these requirements, patients must be able
to make their own healthcare decisions. Katrina Hedberg found that over the course of ten years,
physicians had written 546 prescriptions and a total of 341 Oregon residents passed away after the
lethal dose under this act. The medications that were prescribed during this time were secobarbital
and pentobarbital, and most patients would pass away within an hour of taking pentobarbital. Many
physicians have reported that patients who requested these prescriptions often had a loss of
autonomyand a decrease in their ability to engage in activities that they enjoyed. The results showed
that these factors had increased over the course of ten years. According to physicians, patient s
concerns of pain had also increased during this time. This is still very controversial, but findings
have shown that

Robotic Rights Are Really Required
Robotic Rights Are Really Required Envision a world where people and robots are living
together in harmony achieving things that no one could ever do alone. Now envision that same
world where instead of working together, robots and humans are at war because of robotic
rights. Both worlds are equally possible depending on what people decide to do with robots. If
A.I. never receives rights, the second scenario may very well happen, but if they are given rights,
scenario one may happen. In a world where technology is rapidly advancing, A.I. is becoming more
intelligent everyday. Some day in the near future robots will exist that can walk, talk, and even
dance in the human world. With the increasing intelligence of these A.I., they will... Show more

They just believe that they all have the same object (Sautoy 13). With A.I., a person can t look
into their box of consciousness to see if they too have a beetle. Alex Knapp, an Associate Editor
for Forbes, poses an interesting question: If an AI can t alter the rules its creator set up for his
behavior, purpose, etc., is it really conscious in the same way that humans are? (Knapp 10).
People can t determine if A.I. are conscious the same way people are if they can t change their
programming because humans, from birth, are programmed to do certain tasks. These are called
instincts. The robots programming is just their instincts making them the same as people and
making it impossible to determine their consciousness. All three datas point to humans not
being able to tell whether or not A.I. have consciousness and if humans cannot decide if an A.I.
is conscious, then there is no reason they should keep A.I. away from human rights. Humans
have the right to explore where they came from and their beliefs, why they re alive and who they
are, so there isn t any reason A.I. shouldn t be able to do the same. The second reason A.I.
deserve rights is because technology is rapidly advancing faster than ever before. In every sci fi
story, robots have always aided humans with everyday tasks. They cooked, cleaned, were alarm
clocks, read stories, put the children to sleep, fed the pets, defended

Modes Of Being
Often when I sleep, I neither feel myself (my senses), nor have I dreams. But, when I wake up, my
intellect instantly apprehends different things. I feel things, I see things, I taste things, I smell
things, and I hear things. Thus, it is true, the first thing grasped by the intellect is being. As,
Avicenna said: that which the intellect first conceives as, in a way, the most evident, and to which
it reduces all its concepts, is being1. Then, if all beings from the smallest particle to God himself, is
being, or if being is universal, how do I differentiate the diversity of all that I perceive each time
when I awake? St. Thomas said there two ways being is expressed, or two ways to of adding to
being. But why do we add to being as if... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term used positively is a thing. The essence make a thing what it is, different from all other
thing. Therefore a thing expresses the essence of a being whereas the being express the
existence of a thing or the to be . The second term used while considering every being is itself is
One. One is negative, because when being is considered per se, it cannot be divide, in other
words is One. Thus, the term One is used the express the undividedness of a being. Then again,
as I mentioned above, the general modes can be considered in two ways. The second mode
necessitate to follow every being in relation to others. This first way is the distinction between a
being to another being. The distinction between one being to another being is called another. For
example: Mum my job is finish now, can you give me another one. The term another make a
distinction to one thing to another. The second way is the correspondence of one being to another
being. This is possible only as St. Thomas explained: if something which is such that it agrees with
every being. Such a being is the soul, which, as is said in The Soul, in some way is all things 3.
The soul on the other hand has the knowing and the appetitive powers. As Aristotle said good is
what men desires it follows that Good expresses the correspondence of being through the appetitive
power. And Truth is the

Australian Tax Reform
Debt, Death Taxes
16th October 2002 Robert Camilleri
The Conservative government doctrine is essentially defined as the party of tax relief. But now
conservatives have converted themselves into the party of debt retirement. The conservative
government has lost interest in tax cutting and instead wants to devote the surplus tax payments and
asset sales over the next 3 years to paying down the national debt. The Howard Costello
government, seen as militant debt hawks, has announced their goal is to retire the entire national
debt by 2005.
Has this government forgotten all of the economic and political lessons of the past 20 years? Take
the American experience of the Reagan Government, they used surpluses to cut marginal tax rates,

Parliament will spend the money, because it is in their nature. The debt hawks say, stash the
surplus money away so it s available for a rainy day. The truth is, for parliament; every day is a
rainy day. The Howard government real concern is that if they are sitting on this cash the public
will be screaming out for tax cuts, so repaying debt is a quick an easy way to take the focus off this
get rid of the cash.
Tax reform is the smarter strategy rather than reducing the debt burden and it will grow the GDP
faster. A dollar devoted to reducing marginal tax rates or to reducing the tax penalty against saving
and investment will yield a higher return to the Australian economy, and thus to future generations,
than a dollar used for retiring debt
But even if we suspend our disbelief and assume that every surplus penny was used to buy down
debt, the economic benefit would be trivial. The primary argument in favour of debt reduction is
that it will relieve the burden from our children of having to pay off the debt in the future. But as
long as we don t add to the debt over the next decade through a return to deficit spending, the debt
burden on the next generation will fall automatically. It already is happening. Even without a
penny of actual debt retirement, the debt as a share of GDP will fall from 15% of GDP in the early
1990s, using the current debt levels, to about 8% of GDP now. In

The Rocket Boys Research Paper
Sonny and the rest of the Rocket Boys had to follow through with many steps in order to complete

that they could succeed in building rockets. There were many steps the Rocket Boys had to go
through like things such as, finding the right materials to use, learn more math and science
equations, and most importantly, they had to learn how to build the rockets. With their knowledge

not fly at all. But, they learned from their mistakes and kept trying. Many of the problems the
Rocket Boys ran into while launching rockets were small and harmless. However, they ran into
one major problem. There ended up being a forest fire in the county next to Coalwood, and the
boys were blamed for the starting of that fire. But with Sonny s knowledge with the harder math
and science equations, he realized it wasn t their rocket that started that fire. After Sonny figured
that out, they could continue on and pursue their dreams of going to college, winning the science
fair, and even doing something in their lives other than coal mining. The principal sent Sonny to
the National Science Fair in Indianapolis, Indiana. All the hard work and dedication the boys put
into rocket building had finally been paid off. Sonny and the Rocket Boys won first place at the
science fair. When Sonny returned home, they launched their last rocket. The whole town was
practically by their side for this launching. With launching the final rocket, Auk XXXI, the rocket
was six and a half feet long and two and a quarter inches in diameter. The rocket reached a height

The Punch List Obligations Of A Construction Project Manager
The Punch List Obligations of a Construction Project Manager at Project Closeout
ABRAHAM J MAJU
(MPM 630 Project Closeout)
January 2015
UNIVERSITY OF MARY, BISMARCK ND
USA
Abstract
Most constructions contracts tends to be very specific in regards to the overall planned financial
budget of the construction work, the expected quality of the job output from the contractor as well
as the duration (time) that is allowed to complete the work. But it is very common that in most
cases, it would seem that all that would be required to closing out a construction or any other type
of a major capital project would be just to inspect it, accept it and see that the contractor is able to
receive all his entitlements and final payments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introduction
Constructions project management involves the direct and daily monitoring of all construction
activities and tasks, including all the construction methodologies that is being applied, as well as
the personnel that directs or guides the project through every single stage or phase of its life cycle.
It is pertinent to know that not all constructions jobs might not be successfully completed due to
some changed conditions or unforeseen circumstances beyond control like the effects of nature and
differing site conditions. Some of the constructions projects get rejected or are abruptly cancelled
due to reasons best known to either the contractor or the client as the case maybe, but whatever
happens regardless. Proper and effective closure is always needed on all constructions projects.
According to the words of the author Joseph A. Griffin (2011) titled How to Close a Project , he
noted that Closing a project should be treated as an integral part of the project plan. The closing
process does not begin at the end of the project, but during the planning phase. Each step should be
carefully planned and executed as any other portion of the project . Propounding on the suggested
timeline for preparations of a project closeout, the authors Edward R. Fisk and Wayne D. Reynolds
(2014) in the Tenth Edition of their publications titled Construction Project Administration noted on
page 347, that The closeout period may actually begin several weeks to a month

Kritios Boy Essay
Created sometime around 480 BCE, the marble sculpture Kritios Boy is a significant piece of
ancient Greek art. Although it was recovered in a mutilated state over one thousand years after
its creation, the sculpture still manages to showcase detail of the human body in a more
naturalized form than the similar pieces of art that had came before. This piece of artwork was
created at a very busy time in Greek history. Greece was in the midst of a war with Persia, and
Athens was a pre Socratic society that was nearing the height of interest in philosophy. With that
came the quest to identify mankind s natural identity. The results of this quest was displayed in
many pieces of artwork. Kritios Boy was sculpted in the figure of a human male, and was quite
distinct from similar pieces of artwork of earlier Greek and Egyptian history. Kouros, from only
forty five years prior to Kritios Boy, was much more closely related to the heavily idealized
Egyptian sculptures like the Triad of Mycerinas. Those earlier sculptures were similar in that...

Most noticeably in the way that the statue is standing. Rather than standing in the rigid stance of
the Kouros and others before, the figure is demonstrating a contrapposto stance, a more natural
and common way of standing that places the body s weight on one side of the body, with the left
leg standing straight, and the right one bent and relaxed. Looking up through the torso, one will
see that the hips are not aligned, contributing to the more relaxed and natural stance. This
showcases the progress made in the quest to represent the natural body, as it is a very common
way for humans to stand. Other features, such as proportion and muscle definition, place Kritios
more towards the natural side of the styleized naturalized spectrum. Unlike the Kouros of 600
BCE, the Kritios s head and torso correspond well with the rest of the body, and muscle and bone
structure appear more

The Role Of Private Military Contractors ( Pmcs )
Thesis: The role of private military contractors (PMCs) has expanded tremendously since the end of
the Cold War when western governments began the process of trimming their bloated military
forces. As privatization commenced, governments began to rely upon a new kind of contractor that
sold not only hardware but also manpower and expertise. Even as conventional militaryforces
declined, the need for highly capable, professional soldiers remained pressing, especially in
conflict prone areas around the world. PMCs filled these gaps, providing military assistance,
advice, and security services to governments, companies, and NGOs. However, the role of these
companies, and the legal framework surrounding them remains up for debate, and recent cases
of misconduct with deadly consequences only muddy the waters further. The question remains:
do PMCs serve to help or hurt human rights in areas where they are deployed? In this paper, I
will argue that PMCs do have a critical role in the modern battlefield as providers of logistical,
training, and security services, but their use in offensive actions or assistance with so called black
operations should be circumscribed to the point of nonexistence. I will analyze two cases studies
where PMCSs were deployed: Iraq and Sierra Leone to determine the positive and negative
ramifications of their deployment. PMCs have upheld human rights in the vast majority of areas
where they have been deployed, and it has not been shown that they are

Common purpose was shown when everyone in my group, including me had to make Truly

  • 2. Marriage Of Figaro The Marriage of Figaro, or Le Nozze di Figaro as originally titled in Italian, is a light hearted opera buffa in four acts with musical setting by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. The libretto is based on La folle journГ©e, ou le Mariage de Figaro (The Madcap Day, or the Marriage of Figaro), a comically titled stage play by Pierre Beaumarchais. Mozart s opera is in fact part of a trilogy. The Marriageof Figaro continues the story of The Barber of Seville, another of Beaumarchais plays adapted for opera by Paisiello. Composed in 1786 and originally a reasonable success, The Marriage of Figaro s acclaim has grown much greater and is celebrated and performed today around the world, so widely successful that it has even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In anticipation of attending the performance, I read up on the opera s plot and watched videos of key moments. I became familiar with the characters and formed expectations of each. For instance, I expected Count Almaviva to be foolishly arrogant, with an I expect to be obeyed attitude. However, I was surprised and shocked to discover how very human each personage really was. A typical novel is told in the point of view of one individual with whom we, the audience, tend to sympathize with. We know their thoughts and feelings and we cheer them on , while despising the antagonists. In Guth s The Marriage of Figaro, I found myself wishing for good closure for each and every one of the characters despite the fact that they are the source of each other s misery. Despite a solid effort from all voice parts and some disconcertingly beautiful standout arias, overall, I found the libretto and Guth s atmospheric changes to be much too disconnected, resulting, for me, in a somewhat disappointing Marriage of Figaro. Those hoping to experience the classical brilliance of a Mozart Da Ponte opera will come out of the theatre dissatisfied. On the other hand, those wanting a glimpse of traditional operatic music and dialogue with added psychological depth will take immense pleasure in viewing COC s 2016 production of The Marriage of ... In Shakespeare s play the Tempest, the main character is said to be based on Queen Elizabeth s Astrologer, John Dee (Alchin). One of the most known phrases from Shakespeare s plays or just a phrased that is known in general, star crossed lovers has an astrological origin. Analysis Of The Story The Lady Or The Tiger Using the narrative skills we have discussed in class, create an ending to the story of The Lady or the Tiger, picking up from the segment below: Was the tiger going to come or the absolutely gorgeous lady everyone had been talking about? So many questions raced through the lover s mind as the door opened. His fate had rested within the princess, and he trusted her with all his heart. He loved her so much, and not being with the princess pained more than he could ever demonstrate. Later that night, when the lover and the maiden had fallen asleep. The princess quick snuck around the guards and into their bedroom, tip toeing towards the young maiden. Reaching into her pocket, she withdrew a sharp object. And, the next thing you know, there is blood scattered everywhere around the room, and even on the princess s clothes. Then, she carefully went moved to the other side of the bed and awoke the lover. He slowly awakened and sensed someone above him, that aroma was pretty familiar to him... it was the princess. He was ecstatic, perhaps the whole thing, the trial, arena, wedding and just perhaps it all was a terrifying nightmare. He glanced to see the other side of the bed to make sure it was, but instead, he saw a lifeless body of the young maiden. He glanced towards the princess, a question right on his lips. But, the question had been answered looking at the bloody knife in her hand. How could you? the lover whispered. What! You didn t expect me to let you live your life with her... I mean what about us? By heating a metal then placing it in a calorimeter and taking the temperature of the solution as the heat transfer from the metal to the solution. Progesterone is produced in ovaries, adrenal gland and in placenta when women get pregnant. In the menstrual cycle, ovary unceasingly alternates between two phases: the follicular phase, which is characterized by the presence of maturing follicles and the luteal phase, which is governed by the presence of corpus luteum. Levonorgestrel inhibits secretion of GnRH, LH and FSH through negative feedback to hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis. Levonorgestrel inhibits secretion of LH and FSH from anterior pituitary and these indirectly causes a delay in follicle development. Decreased level of LH also lead to delay or inhibition of LH surge, which then inhibits ovulation. According to Danielsson (2010), when LNG was administrated at two to three days before LH surge, the LH peak was inhibited or delayed. However, when LNG was provided one day before or on the day of LH surge, it failed to inhibit ovulation. Levonorgestrel has a high level of efficacy to prevent pregnancy as an emergency contraceptive (EC). It is also relatively safe to use and well tolerated. It is relatively cheaper than other oral contraceptive. In addition, for women over 16 years old, certain brand of Levonorgestrel can also be obtained without a prescription from pharmacies. • 8. Argumentative Essay On Metal Music Metal music: Noise pollution of today Metal music is a genre of rock music that developed in the late sixties and early seventies. It is characterized by its loud distorted guitars, dense bass and drum sound and vigorous vocals. Because of its different and a bit aggressive sound, metal music is not everyone s cup of tea. Sadly, metal community is often faced with a lot of stereotypical opinions. The most widespread stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are about the devil and hell. One more stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are just pointless screaming. All these stereotypes are wrong because metal music has a very wide range of lyrical themes and, next to usual loud songs, there are also some very nice and emotional ballads. Only problem with metal music is the fact that this kind of music is often associated with drugs, alcohol and violence. It is true that some metal fans consume drugs and alcohol, but that does not mean that all fans of metal music should be categorized as drug addicts and alcoholics because those people s addiction is a result of their bad choices and it has nothing to do with the music they listen to. Talking about violence is pointless because if you compare a metal concert with a football game you will see that metal fans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. The Effects Of Binge Drinking On Teens For my research project I decided to look at binge drinking in teens. Binge drinking interested me because so many teenagers drink alcohol when they go out and don t know what consequences it has on the body. Binge drinking is the consumption of an unreasonable amount of alcohol in a short period of time. I have chosen to research What are the psychological and physiological effects of binge drinkingin teens? . I chose this question because I wanted to inform myself and other teens on the effects of binge drinking. The research methods used throughout my research were internet articles and a survey. After researching what is binge drinking I found that it is the consumption of a large amount of alcohol on a single occasion or drinking at a constant rate over a number of days or even weeks. Binge drinking is risky business. The powerful liquid known as alcohol has major effects on a person. Alcohol has the ability to wreck a person s life and change it permanently. Alcohol impairs judgement making it easy for someone to do or say something that he or she will regret. For a male to binge drink he has to drink 5 or more standard drinks in a 2 hour period. For a female it is only 4 or more standard drinks in a 2 hour period. This could vary of the weight and age of the person. When conducting my survey I asked the participants how many drinks they believe classified as binge drinking. Figure 1 showing some of the results for survey about home many drinks they believed ... Huck Finn Should Not Be Banned Essay The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is about a boy who sets out on an adventure that leads him away from social restrictions and out into a world of unexplored places. Within the story it holds many questionable events. Those events spark doubt in readers minds and they start to shy away from the book and reject it immediately. I believe that, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, should not be banned in classrooms due to the book including important topics such as slavery, morality, and history. In a blog on Huffington Post, the writer Galanty Miller, wrote about the Philadelphia High School banning Huckleberry Finn. Saying that it was a decision that made no sense, and adding an example that showed how it made no sense to ban it. That even if it made students uncomfortable it is an important piece of literature that went over racism and intolerance. • 11. Implementing Mandatory Council Meeting Of All Plc Teams One thing that is a for certain in education is changes will take place. Education mirrors the world we live in, and that is, change is inevitable. However, this process is not always accepted by the entire staff of a school and may be found burdensome to others. As a teacher leader, when certain changes in the schooltake place regarding a rule, the entire staff needs to come together to ensure the rule is being implemented and enforced. One such change that is happening at my school is the once a week mandatory meeting of all PLC teams. The decision to implement mandatory PLC meetings did not go over well with all teachers. When a school makes a rule or policy change, there are parts of the organization, such as the political, human resource, and cultural perspective that feel the effect. I am part of a vast school district in Texas. I understand that this rule change about PLC meetings came from school leaders that are higher up in the organizational structure, and moved down the chain of command from the principals to the teachers. Understanding the structure of an organization is critical for the organization to move forward (Laureate Education, Inc., 2007). My district believes and supports the different PLC teams in the school district. At the start of this year, the entire staff was told by the principal that all PLC teams need to meet once a week, and all minutes of the meeting need to be documented and emailed to administration. In my opinion, I thought this was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Popularity of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens Essay The Popularity of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens I Think that A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is still popular today because it has a good moral story and people still enjoy a good old fashioned ghost story. The Muppets have done a fantastic job of recreating the story and is told by two Muppets who follow scrooge around the story commentating to the scenes that need playing. Also a major part that has changed is the language; this version has got rid of confusing and mind baffling words in some of the newer versions of the classical story. An example of this is Spectre and Humbug which is a way of saying someone has been annoying or talking a load of nonsense. Now they use words that even the youngest of people will recognize. This also makes the book more interesting because it does not seem as old or as outdated, which in most cases is a good thing. Power of Choice in Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange Essay The choice between good and evil is a decision every man must make throughout his life in order to guide his actions and control his future. This element of choice, no matter what the outcome, displays man s power as an individual. Any efforts to control or influence this choice between good and evil will in turn govern man s free will and enslave him. In the novel A ClockworkOrange, the author uses symbolism through imagery, the characterization of Alex, and the first person narrative point of view to prove that without the ability to choose between good and evil, Man becomes a slave. • 17. Abortion Vs Abortion Essay Abortion (Roe v. Wade) Abortion should be an independent decision; no one should tell you can t have an abortion. Being that abortion is something very personal and very dangerous if not done correctly problems come out of it very easily. With that being said law suits happen which gets the court get involved, and laws are placed with restrictions on abortionare made. The judicial branch helped in every court case about abortion, by showing how the people feel and attacks the problems that are associated with abortions and what can be done to fix these problems. For instance the case between Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Casey over the, Pennsylvania s 1982 Abortion Control Act claiming that it violated the Court s decision by burdening women s access to abortion. In their decision, the Supreme Court upheld the basis of Roe while also deeming parts of the Pennsylvania law to be constitutional. David H. Souter wrote the majority opinion, which reaffirmed a woman s constitutional right to an abortion. But the Court also clarified that states could place restrictions on abortion as long as they did not present the undue burden test. In Casey, the justices defined as a substantial obstacle in the path of a woman seeking an abortion before the fetus attains viability. The majority determined that the waiting period and the parental notification part of the law was fine but the spousal notification clause was not. However the implementation of the undue burden test continues to be debated from policy to policy. In the case of Monday s ruling on Whole Women s Health, the test was enough to strike down Texas law. Legislation played a part in passing laws and looking at all aspects of the subject. For legislation to prohibit a specific abortion procedure, the partial birth abortion procedure, was passed in the 108th Congress. The partial birth abortion ban act is an example of Congress restricting the performance of a medical procedure. Legislation that would stop the transport of minors over state lines in order for the minor to get an abortion has been brought up in a number of Congresses. Many strive to keep the innocence they are born with, and plenty others spend a lifetime attempting to regain the innocence they have lost with age. In the following photos, innocence is a common theme, which each photographer approaches in a unique way. There is a dull and unsettling truth behind the innocent demonstration of young ladies acting much more mature than their age. Manuel Alvarez Bravo is one of the premier figures of modern photography and the main photographer among the immense Mexican artists of the twentieth century. In The Daughter of the Dancers, Bravo illustrates the idea of youthfulness on the verge of loosing its innocence. Sally Mann, a photographer from the 1980s 90s, caught a reflection of grown up moves inside the innocence and youth of adolescents in Candy Cigarette through her utilization of organization, field point, and technique. Whether or not a parent has the right to take their child out of public schools to educate them at home has become a widely talked about subject. Over the past decade, some 18,260 home schools have registeredas home schools, and this number continues to grow (Clark/Havice). This issue, although intense and multi layered, is often divided into two distinct groups those who oppose it, thinking it prevents the child from learning the essentials for social life, and those who advocate it, thinking that it brings the family together, allowing the parents to control what the child learns, and permits them to educate the children one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the lack of social skills, children also face the problem with going to universities. Colleges are reluctant to admit home school graduates because they did not have an accredited diploma (Smith). Students who have been home schooled throughout their childhood also run into problems when applying for college. Home schooling requires that one parent must stay at home and teach the children. Families have to give up one parent s full time salary. Rachel Gehlbach obtained a college degree and studied theology, computers and social sciences before she had children. She notes that she could probably get a good job in Milwaukee, but she has chosen remain at home and teach the children. They bake bread and garden to help save money on the family s grocery bill (Tastad). There is also the price of school supplies to contend with; school supplies tend to be more expensive for home schooled students. This can make the loss of income harder (Kang). Since parents are the teachers in a home schooling environment, they have ultimate authority. They can have an oppressive amount of control over the student. Parents spending more time with their children may seem like an advantage, but there comes a point where the students need time away from their family and their parents. • 22. Organic Solvents And Nonpolar Solvents As mentioned in the discussion, olive oil, vegetable oil, crisco, and lard were soluble in nonpolar solvents and insoluble in polar solvents. This is due to the chemical composition of polar and nonpolar substances which results from the molecular shape as well as properties of dissolving solutes in solution. Polar substances are hydrophilic and contain polar Van Der Waals interactions (intermolecular forces) such as dipole dipole forces, ion dipole forces, and hydrogen bonding. Nonpolar substances are hydrophobic and contain non polar Van Der Waals interactions. Like dissolve like is the reason only polar solutes dissolve in polar solvents and why nonpolar solutes dissolve in nonpolar solvents. Molecules with similar polarity have similar intermolecular forces and therefore, can interact with each, or in this case dissolve9. Additionally, the solubilityof a compound is determined by the length of the hydrocarbon chain. Long hydrocarbon chains such as the one found in oleic acid makes a compound more insoluble10. Therefore, since the lipids used in this experiment were hydrophobic substances and each lipid has long hydrocarbon chains, the results were consistent with the scientific literature and principles. Another factor affecting the solubility of the olive oil, vegetable oil, crisco, and lard is the principle of hydrophobic interaction. Hydrophobic interaction refers to when nonpolar solutes are in the presence of polar solvents, mainly water. When this happens, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to its critics, Method acting counteracts the original form of acting because the actorconcentrates more on himself rather than the development of the character. Despite this claim, Method acting continues to be the key technique actors use to create in themselves the thoughts and feelings of their characters, so as to develop convincing performances. Generally, barometric pressure at Pikes Peak is approx. 450 mmHg (altitude approx 14,115 ft.) At this high altitude there will be a decreased PiO2, which will lead to decreased PAO2 and PaO2 tensions. The decreased air density, humidity and temperature at Pike s Peak can lead to water loss, ventilatory changes and alternations in pulmonary hemodynamics. Decreases in pulmonary vasoconstriction through decreases alveolar oxygen tension, as well as increases in pulmonary vascular resistance and pulmonary artery pressure, are seen at this high altitude. At higher altitudes respiration rate is increased which leads to increases in ventilation (possibly a five fold increase from sea level). Chemoreceptors in the arterial blood vessels are stimulated to signal the brain to increase ventilation. The increase in ventilation is associated with increased breathing frequency and tidal volume. Hypoxia is one of the major problems associated with this increase in altitude. This is due to the fact that the partial pressure of oxygen decreases proportionately with increases in altitude. Carbon dioxide that is continually excreted from the pulmonary blood to the alveoli along with water vaporizing in the inspired air from the respiratory surfaces dilute the oxygen in the alveoli which cause the oxygen concentration to decrease. But unlike ordinary students without athletics, student athletes must also many times care for families and spouses. Actually, approximately 24% of student athletes are married, and of that 24%, about 62% have children. Of the students without their own spouses or children, many must care for parents and siblings. Most college athletes are not wealthy and among the many rules imposed for these privileged individuals, they are not permitted to carry jobs, receive money, rewards, or any type of kickbacks from any sources other than family. Environmental issues Who Killed the Electric Car is a documentary which unfolds a complex set of events around the development and demise of the modern electric car. The story stems from California from the early 1990s to 2006. Everything begins to unfold with a brief history of the first electric cars created in the early twentieth century. These electric vehicles were killed off nearly 100 years ago as gas/petroleum powered internal combustion engine cars became cheaper. The worsening problems of gas/petrol cars are illustrated: smog, high child asthma rates, CO2 emissions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... EVs are less polluting even if the electricity comes from coal fired power plants. Furthermore, the emissions of coal fired power plants can be controlled and regulated in ways not possible for vehicles, as the number power plants is miniscule compared to the number of gas powered vehicles. The car companies also argued that they would not be able to technically and financially meet the requirements of the ZEV Mandate. Car and oil companies joined the Federal Government to sue the State of California and overturn the ZEV Mandate. Federal Government and oil companies put forward hydrogen fuel cells as a better alternative to gas and battery electric cars. In contrast, interviews with two hydrogen experts gave details why fuel cell vehicles are not likely to be available for another 15 20 years if ever, whereas battery electric technology is available now, has been rapidly improving since the mid 1990s and is cost effective. In 1999, having won some initial concessions in the Mandate, US automakers started shutting down their EV programs. GM bought the rights to manufacture the Hummer, as they saw it would make them money. In 2002 the maximum Federal tax credit for an EV was $4000. Lewis does not say there is any particular way to believe but he does make a point that the topic of religion itself is serious. As you consider whether you want to believe or not, you have to recognize how much thought it requires, and how thought provoking a process this decision is. Lewis covers Christianity in four different books within his book. In book one, Lewis discusses the Law of Nature and makes note of a tendency in humans of appealing to a standard of absolute truth in quarrels and arguments. He calls this standard the Law of Nature or the Moral Law. The Law isn t the same as the law of gravity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lewis argument in the third book is most important to the point I want to discuss. He argues through this chapter the Christian behavior. Morality is what he considers to be the basics of good Christian behavior. Lewis states that morality is not simply, something that prevents you from having a good time , but rather morals are the directions for running the human machine . Every moral rule is there to prevent wear and tear on the way machine operates. He realizes that is why the rules seem to be constantly getting in the way of are natural behavior. Lewis sees that some people think in terms of moral ideals not rules and obedience. Ideals suggest preference to personal taste. Something that subjective would be meaningless in practice. Idealistic notions are meaningless unless we try to carry them out. Acting on ideals requires rules. Lewis uses the analogy of the ship to show how ideals without rules can go wrong. If the ships keep on having crashes they will not be able to sail. If their steering gears do not work they will not be able to avoid crashes. The cardinal virtues are seven virtues that help guide us to have good morality. Prudence is the first virtue and is having the common sense enough to think about what you are doing and what are the consequences. Temperance is finding moderation in your lifestyle. This act allowed physicians to prescribe to terminally ill patients a lethal dose of medication in order to hasten their death, even though euthanasia is prohibited in the United States. According to Katrina Hedberg, this act has been revised by Oregonlegislature, but has still been brought to attention of the United States Supreme Court on raised questions of legality. In order to receive a prescription for the Death with Dignity Act, the patient must reside in Oregon, be a terminally ill adult, and should be expected to die within a six month time frame. Along with these requirements, patients must be able to make their own healthcare decisions. Katrina Hedberg found that over the course of ten years, physicians had written 546 prescriptions and a total of 341 Oregon residents passed away after the lethal dose under this act. The medications that were prescribed during this time were secobarbital and pentobarbital, and most patients would pass away within an hour of taking pentobarbital. Many physicians have reported that patients who requested these prescriptions often had a loss of autonomyand a decrease in their ability to engage in activities that they enjoyed. The results showed that these factors had increased over the course of ten years. According to physicians, patient s concerns of pain had also increased during this time. As, Avicenna said: that which the intellect first conceives as, in a way, the most evident, and to which it reduces all its concepts, is being1. Tax reform is the smarter strategy rather than reducing the debt burden and it will grow the GDP faster. Although it was recovered in a mutilated state over one thousand years after its creation, the sculpture still manages to showcase detail of the human body in a more naturalized form than the similar pieces of art that had came before. This piece of artwork was created at a very busy time in Greek history. Greece was in the midst of a war with Persia, and Athens was a pre Socratic society that was nearing the height of interest in philosophy. With that came the quest to identify mankind s natural identity. The results of this quest was displayed in many pieces of artwork. Kritios Boy was sculpted in the figure of a human male, and was quite distinct from similar pieces of artwork of earlier Greek and Egyptian history. The Role Of Private Military Contractors ( Pmcs ) Thesis: The role of private military contractors (PMCs) has expanded tremendously since the end of the Cold War when western governments began the process of trimming their bloated military forces. As privatization commenced, governments began to rely upon a new kind of contractor that sold not only hardware but also manpower and expertise. Even as conventional militaryforces declined, the need for highly capable, professional soldiers remained pressing, especially in conflict prone areas around the world. PMCs filled these gaps, providing military assistance, advice, and security services to governments, companies, and NGOs. However, the role of these companies, and the legal framework surrounding them remains up for debate, and recent cases of misconduct with deadly consequences only muddy the waters further. The question remains: do PMCs serve to help or hurt human rights in areas where they are deployed? In this paper, I will argue that PMCs do have a critical role in the modern battlefield as providers of logistical, training, and security services, but their use in offensive actions or assistance with so called black operations should be circumscribed to the point of nonexistence. I will analyze two cases studies where PMCSs were deployed: Iraq and Sierra Leone to determine the positive and negative ramifications of their deployment.
