Mammal Exhalation Research Paper
A Mammal is a member of a large group of animals with warm blood, fur and the ability to
produce milk. Gas exchange in mammals occurs by the inhalation of oxygen and the exhalation of
carbon dioxide. As mammals inhale oxygen it passes through the trachea which is a long tube
made out of c shaped cartilage ring which widens and lengthens as the mammal inhales and goes
back to its normal shape when the mammal exhales. Inhalation is when the diaphragm relaxes
releasing the pressure inside the lungs which draws oxygeninto the body through the mouth, down
the trachea, bronchi (tubes connecting to the trachea) and the bronchioles (small connecting tubes
between the bronchi and alveoli within the lungs). Exhalation is when it contracts and increases the
pressure in the lungs pushing carbon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that before carbon dioxide can diffuse into the capillaries through the alveolus there
must be a low carbon dioxide concentration in the alveolus so that is can diffuse out of the blood
into the capillaries and into an alveolus (since diffusion is the movement of particles from an
area of high to an area of low concentration). This is the same for oxygen but in order for oxygen
to diffuse into the capillaries and then into the blood stream there must be a high concentration
of oxygen in the alveolus, from here the oxygen rich blood flows to the many places around the
body where it is needed. A ventilation system allows this process of diffusion of both gases to
occur by getting rid of the carbon dioxide in the alveolus and bringing in more oxygen. A
sustainable blood flow is crucial for Gas Exchange as it is the process of the diffusion of oxygen
and carbon dioxide to and from the blood stream. The vast network of capillaries surrounding the
alveolus ensures a continuous supply of blood to carry the oxygen away. Within the blood is the
presence of the respiratory pigment called haemoglobin, this pigment binds with blood to increase
the oxygen carrying ability of

Papers On Jay Martin
We all have heard the phrase loose lips sink ships. On 19 May 2011, the Federal Bureau of
Investigations (FBI) painted another picture in our mind regarding this phrase. The in depth
investigation of Bryan Minkyu Martin revealed the real reasons why he betrayed the country for
his own benefit. This is a classic example to prove cyber espionagecases can be alarming to our
nation s national security.
Bryan Minkyu Martin was born in Seoul, Korea in 1988. Peter and Barbara Martin, a
psychologist and an intelligence specialist, adopted Martin at the age of two. His parents raised
him in the small town of Mexico in upstate New York. Eventually Martin graduated from Mexico

Members of the military services should be aware of any insider threat indicators presented by

to our nation s national security and report these incidents immediately before they can harm our
country. In addition to Martin s espionage case, we can further understand the importance of
securing classified information because it can seriously destroy relationships between countries. As
a result, Martin deserved the punishment given to him because he knew the consequences of
betraying his country. This case clearly indicates the reasons why we should have good
communications at work and recognize individuals that may have issues that could possibly
become an insider threat. Finally, we must be the change we wish to see among others, because

Code Of Ethics Paper
A code of ethics is one of many documents an organization will develop to establish how they will
conduct business. In many organizations, documents such as the mission statement stand alone and
are reviewed annually, put on company letter head, passed out on business cards and so forth. To
increase the visibility of an organization, I would take steps to add bullets from the organizations
ethicsprogram to things such as business cards, put it on the corporate website, have it as a screen
saver on all corporate computers and even integrate it into the voice mail of phones and when
callers are placed on hold. I would ensure the organization looks at its corporate ethics in a similar
fashion as this look at their vision statement.
To ensure the viability and sustainability of a corporate ethics program, Man Fong, McGeorge,
Loosemore (2004) have broken the step of implementing a corporate ethics program into five step.
The steps are as follows: Objectives, Creation, Content, Implementation and Enforcement, and
Administration. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a way for an organization to share their commitment to the stakeholders as an ethical organization

Persuasive Essay About Public Shame
Shame corrodes the very part of us that believes we are capable of change (BrenГ© Brown). In
The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, a woman is publicly shamed for having a child with
a man who is not her husband. Another example of public shame can be seen in modern day
articles Florida Scarlet Letter Law is Repealed by Gov. Bush, by Dana Canedy, and Houston
Couple Gets The Scarlet LetterTreatment. Both talk of public shamethat people have had to endure
in the present day. Public shaming is not an effective punishment because it is a cruel and unusual
punishment, it does not deter crime, and it can emotionally traumatize the one being shamed.
One of the main reasons why public shame is not an effective punishment is because it is a cruel
and unusual punishment. The Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution states that
cruel and unusual punishments [shall not be] inflicted. The verdict of public shame is not morally
just and should not be accepted in society. In The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynneundergoes public
torment for having a baby with a man other than her husband. She feels the shame of the
punishment most when forced to walk through the square, under the scrutiny and torment of the
town: In a moment, however, wisely judging that one token of her shame would but poorly serve
to hide another, she took the baby on her arm, and, with a burning blush, and yet a haughty smile,
and a glance that would not be abashed, looked around at her

The Importance Of The Geek Culture
Today Geek Culture is a widely acknowledged sub culture across the world. Technology and media
are ever changing and the Geek Culture reflects the changes with the acceptance of nerds , otaku ,
and the dweeb . Though mostly meant as derogatory terms they are now seen as acceptable jokes
that are popular in this moment of history. Nerds are the socially awkward and intelligent
population the term is also interchangeable with its outdated counterpart dweeb. Otakuwas used to
insult adults who enjoyed animethat though not meant for children was still considered cartoons
therefore childish; but now many refer to themselves as an otaku.
Though accepted common stereotypes about the culture and its population still persist. The most
prominent misconceptions include the belief that otaku are nothing but lazy, incompetent men that
are all N.E.E.T. or hikikomori, not in education employment or training and someone who shuts
themselves in there room away from society respectively, that don t contribute to society in any
meaningful way. Some believe that everything otaku related is like a cancer infecting and affecting
the healthy parts of society which is like calling it criminal to be an otaku. The perverted, lazy, and
deadbeat otaku only make up the smallest but most visible portion of otaku society.
The prevalent stereotypes about the otaku/anime fans is easily viewed when typing in google why
are anime fans... or why are otakus... and the autocomplete fills in with so ugly,

JRR Tolkien and the Twentieth Century Essay
The early twentieth century saw an upheaval of normal life in Europe because of the Great War
and the changing political and social systems. In the midst of this time, JRR Tolkien found
himself transformed from a young student at Oxford to a soldier in the British army as war broke
out across the continent. This war affected his life deeply, whether indirectly while he was at
Oxford or through his time in the trenches in direct combat. As a dedicated academic, however,
Tolkien never abandoned his passion for languages and mythology but used his experiences to
bolster his own writings and creative pursuits. One of the largest influences on Tolkien s life was
through his experiences at Oxford. There, he met his closest friends who... Show more content on

Secondly, this extensive time and companionship with only men is clearly seen in the relationships
in The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien, never exposed to colleagues who were women, only formed
strong ties with other men in the academics that dominated his life. Throughout Tolkien s trilogy,
a reader finds few strong female characters, but a great emphasis on lasting male companionship.
Examples such as Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf, Sam and Frodo, and Merry and Pippin
demonstrate friendships that were not stopped by borders or any challenge of life. Moreover,
Tolkien s friends were primarily occupied with talking, drinking, smoking, and walking all
characteristic activities of the hobbits of Middle Earth. Even before he was seriously
developing the trilogy that would create a new genre of literature, he gathered experiences that
would be models for his created world. Once the Great War began, Tolkien described it as a
collapse of all my world. Even Oxford, the place he had always depended on to stay safely
hidden in his studies, had been breached. Refugees flooded in to use the space, quickly draining
of young men eager to fight, as a camp for safety and other war readiness efforts. Tolkien avoided
the 1915 draft for as long as he could manage because he was recently engaged, but was sent to
fight in northern France within a few months. Tolkien was not in combat for long; after several
months he came down with trench fever from lice in his clothing passing

From Mrs. Sen s Assimilation To Western Standards
While most of the stories show how assimilated to western standards can be difficult, Mrs. Sen s
is the most important out of the stories because Mrs. Sen s is reluctant to settle in America, and
upholds the traditions of her life back in Calcutta. When Mrs. Sen came to America, she was
astonished by the lack of care given by everyone else. She asked Elliot that if she began to scream
at the top of her lungs. Would someone come? (6). All she had to do back in Indiawas raise your

upper class and in America, she is treated like everyone else. Another

Permit Me To Introduce Myself As An American Citizen
Permit me to introduce myself. I am an American citizen, a retired military member with twenty
three years honorable service to this country. I am a patriot, a husband, a father, and a grandfather.
I have no political aspirations nor do I want any notoriety. I just want to get America back. I want
her to be strong and healthy. I want her to resume her leadership role in the world. Every day when
I put on my uniform, I put my life on the line. I swore an oath to support and defend the
Constitution of the United Statesagainst all enemies foreign and domestic. I have never broken that
oath nor will I ever. I have kept the faith with my brother Marines and sister services to defend this
country at all costs.
I am writing this because I am fearful about the future of our country. The path the current
administration has chosen. Yet my fears go much farther back in 20th century history. The lack of
attention being paid to our Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. I am very concerned about the
corruption in Washington D.C. from our elected officials who are supposed to represent US not

Abolish The Penny Essay
Getting rid of the Penny is a good idea
Should we abolish the penny? , is a question that a lot of people have ask. I think that we should
abolish the penny, because it is costing the US more to make the penny than it is even worth.
Every year the U.S. Treasury produces 12 to 14 billion pennies at a cost of $90 million. If we
abolished the penny, instead of paying $39.99, we could round it up to $40.00, or round it down to
the nearest nickel, and make it $39.95.
The penny is not worth as much as it used to be. In the 1940 s, a penny would get you to pieces
of candy, but today you cannot buy anything with a single penny. These days, people don t even
take their time to bend down and pick up a penny that is laying on the side walk. In the story we
read, the dad offered his shoe box full of pennies to his eight year old son, to wrap up in rolls of
50, but his son told him Thanks, dad, but it isn t worth it. If its not worth the time an 8 year olds to
wrap pennies, and put them in the bank, then why is US Government keep making them. ... Show

People waste so much time, digging through their purse or wallet looking for a penny. If we
abolished the penny, then it would make waiting in line for someone to pay go so much faster,
because they wouldn t have to dig around, looking for that 2 more cents. We would also round the
sales tax up to the nearest nickel also. For instance, a 7% sales tax on a $31 purchase would be
$2.17, we would round that up to $2.20. The customer would be losing 3 cents, but that would
meant that the state would be making a little bit more money to spend on roads, and

Mill And Utilitarianism
1.According to Mill, why are some pleasures more worthwhile than others?
According to Mill, what makes a pleasure more valuable than other merely as pleasure except its
being greater in amount, there is but one possible answer. Of two pleasures, if there be one to
which all or almost all or have experience of both give desired preference irrespective of any
feeling of moral obligation to prefer it, that is the more desirable pleasure. This means that it all
comes down to the person s preferences once he or she has experienced pleasure in both quantity
and quality.

Imagery in Macbeth
Imagery in Macbeth Violence and the bloodshed that results are important symbols in
Shakespeare s Macbeth. While the blood that is shed is a tangible reminder of the outcomes of
misused power, it also serves as an image that provokes Macbeth to reflect upon his deeds, even if
he does not change his behavior. Macbethbecomes obsessed with the blood on his hands.
Unfortunately, this reminder of his guilt does not prevent him from continuing violent acts.

Post Banquo s murder, the references to blood increase even further, with quotes like, don t

hired to kill Banquo, describe his body lying in a ditch with twenty trenched gashes on his head .
The imagery of blood is shown in such a way that there is a profuse amount of blood flowing after

These references to blood observe their peak with Lady Macbeth s imagined blood and the

Studying Moral Philosophy
Every person at least once in his life felt that he has done something wrong or even immoral, and
was encouraged to change his behavior. Even as a child many of us were constantly told: Think
about your behavior! This reminder helps realize that one of the most powerful determinants of
human behavior stems from our need to justify our actions. This feeling of discomfort caused by
performing a certain action is called cognitive dissonance. However, sometimes justification of our
actions, caused by cognitive dissonance, leads to the thought: Who decided what is right or
wrong? or in other words: What and where is the perfect example of living a moral life? Studying
moral philosophyshows us that people hold different worldviews that contain different models of
moral justification. Based on the analysis of two philosophies, naturalism and theism, this paper
argues that theism provides a better framework for making sense of moralityand living a moral live,
because it has more explanatory power regarding the notion of free will that people have.
Naturalism mainly is though as a type of scientism, which implies that only things recognized by
scientists as real are real. Although, there are many naturalists who hold this particular view, it is
not the necessary feature of naturalism. Basically, naturalism can be divided into two components:
metaphysical and methodological. The first one is often referred as philosophical naturalism and it

Jaws are believed to evolved from the first pair of gill arches. The presence of jaws permits a
predatory lifestyle. Early bony fishes or lobed finned fishes had lungs. Amphibians were the
first group to have jointed appendages and to invade land. Amphibian means living both on land
and in water. Besides the jointed limbs they have other features that are not seen in the fishes.
Eyelids that keep the eye moist, sound producing larynx, and ears adapted to pick up sound

employees, managers should follow also this order, for example first looking at the physiological

Cinderella Double Standards Essay
Cinderella, a classic fairy tale, is one of the oldest tales that is well known throughout the world.
With the many versions that share the same storyline and the same meaning, Cinderella has
played an important role model for many young girls. She is portrayed as a helpless young
woman that is trapped by evil and receives help to find her Prince Charming. Many young girls in
societies of third world countries desire to live a similar fantasy. Cinderellas story goes beyond
becoming a princess and finding true love, however. The history of the fairytale and the portrayal
of the character reveals the significance of women s role in society and femininity.

Cinderella wouldn t have had the opportunity to attend the ball if it weren t for the dress she
viewed as perfect and the fact that she looked presentable. This can serve as an example of
double standards because men usually escape with the way they perceive or represent
themselves physically, meanwhile women have to try twice as hard to look presentable. This
brings to attention that looks play a big role when grabbing the attention of men. It shows to
young girls that not unless you are adequately dressed or have what society defines as beautiful
then you won t get far in life. For example, at the ball the Prince rejects every girl that invite him
to dance, until he sees Cinderella. Both the Prince and Cinderella had a fast and real connection,
but that vanishes when Cinderella remembers that she had a designated curfew. The following
days of the ball, the prince goes in search for Cinderella after she left her glass slipper behind.
The glass slipper is the only item he has of her along with the connection the experienced. The
Prince going after after Cinderella can also serve as an example of society. He went looking after
her which now we could also see this in society. Men are usually the ones to chase after women.

Prenatal Genetic Testing Raise Ethnic Issues
In Improvements in Prenatal Genetic Testing Raise Ethnic Issues, R. J. Crayton produced an
article about prenatal testing and whether or not parents should be allowed to have these tests
done. First the situation of a high risk baby who will have a disability or defect after birth, so the
parents decide to abort the child is being viewed as an inequality to the disabled community.
Secondly, certain adoptions are put on hold since the biological parents chose to not carry the
unborn child through the entire pregnancy, however, the surrogate mother wants to carry the child
through the entire term. Lastly, research shows that the results can be a false positive, so
unintentionally the parents decide not to keep the unknown, but healthy baby.
To start off with the population that is born with defects or disabilities view the test results as a
discriminating factor against them because of parents wanting to abort children like them.
According to Professor Daniel Williams, he shows that a speculative society standards may arise to

say that due to the results parents think of the face value of the disability and not the authenticity of
the disability.

Explain How Social Class Is A Big Factor In Determining...
In today s society people have different life chances depending on what social class they are born
into. In this essay I will be exploring how social class is a big factor in determining life chances.
For example, you are more likely to receive a better education if you go to a private or public
school, which only the middle/upper classes can afford. The only way a working class student
could afford the fee paying schools is through a scholarship. This is clearly unfair as scholarships
are very competitive and people who can afford to pay for private/public schools apply for them as
well. This shows that social classhas a big factor in determining life chances, because if you have a
middle/upper class upbringing you can essentially pay to have a better life.
Life chances can also be influenced by material deprivation; such as catchment areas. In deprived
areas there are many social problems such as; high unemployment, poverty, juvenile delinquency,
crime, drug abuse and poor role models. This can have a negative effect on a child education as
they could rebel against school and fall into a pupil subculture. Also, people with more money tend
to go to better free schools due to catchment area and can prevent a person from going to a better
school.
If you look at life chances from a working class perspective, we have to look at the work of Karl
Marx. Marx believed that the working class are forced to sell their labour power to the capitalists
since they own no means of

How Unionism Has Impacted the Airline Industry in Us
How unionism has impacted the Airline industry in US
Penn State Harrisburg
Abstract In the wake of a sizable slump in demand driven by economic downturns, terrorism attacks
(especially the events of September 11, 2001) as well as increased competition from low cost
carriers, many incumbent U.S. airlines have been attempting a fundamental restructuring of their
operations. Many would argue that a central element in this restructuring should include an
overhaul of the labor management relationship. This paper presents information regarding labor
unions in the airline industry of the US, in order to analyze and then summarize main points of how
they have impacted and affected this industry overall.
1. Overview of the air ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were major concerns regarding increased industry concentration of a few dominant carriers
controlling the market. As the airlines began to face a deregulatory reality of competition and the
resulting pressure on cost containment during the early 1980s, airline management put pressure
on labor to provide the airlines with financial relief, in order to survive. Reducing labor costs
appeared to be the strategy of choice for many carriers in the drive to maintain a competitive
position in the industry if not only for mere survival. Despite the carrier pressure on airline labor
in the deregulatory era, the airline industry remained one of the strongholds of traditional industrial
relations. Union density was estimated to be at 39.5 percent in the late deregulatory period
between 1983 and 1997. On the other hand, representation rates reached almost 50 percent during
this regulatory period 5(Hirsh and Macpherson, 2000). Many believe that deregulation leads to an
erosion of union effectiveness, while regulation leads to increase in union effectiveness. Despite the

How Did James Cook Influence History
James Cook: Discovery or Invasion
Justin
Grade 6
What is James CookВ’s influence and prominence to history? James Cook is a controversial
figure who В“discovered AustraliaВ” Born on October 27, 1728, in Matron in Cleveland,
Yorkshire, England, James Cook was a naval captain, navigator and explorer who, in 1770,
discovered and charted New Zealand and the Great Barrier Reef of Australia on his ship Endeavor.
He is credited for many innovations in Cartography. But is he really as good as he seems. And
why does he have such an influence on our society. Why is the true history of Australia being
covered up? Why does history treat Captain Cook so kindly, despite the fact that in his later years
he was an extraordinarily irritable man who, over the most trivial matters, did not hesitate to flog
crewmembers or burn down entire native villages? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using a journal that was later published he was able to manipulate the system and create a
common stereotype. He did not discover Australia he colonized it. He is known and remembered

that the Dutch were sailing along the coastline of west Australia a couple of hundred years before
James Cook was born, and of course Abel Tasman sailed along the south of Australia (then called
New Holland) and landed on what is now known as

The Role Of Sitting Bull In The Black Hills
In 1874 gold was discovered in the Black Hills. President Grant was forced to make a harsh
decision because the Black Hills were located in the Great Sioux Reservation that the Indians had
gained under the Treaty of 1868. President Grant allowed miners to enter the Black Hills and
insisted that this act would be legalized. Government attempted to acquire the Black Hills, where
the gold was located however Sitting Bullwas against the sale of the land. The Great War of Sioux
1876 resulted from a disagreement between miners and Indians. Miners had already begun to
come to the Black Hills to mine for goal and the government allowed these things to happen.
Because Sitting Bull and his army men were not sure of what would have happened when the
white men entered they were forced to attack in fear. They had not interfered with the gold rush,
and although they had not signed the Treaty of 1868, in sanctioned their residence in the
unceded territory (Utley pg34). Sitting Bull gave orders to his young soldiers to harass whites at
Yellowstone and in other areas all because he was trying to be proactive and attack them before
they attacked him and his people. Sitting Bull was unaware that his actions were considered to be
an improper thing to do. Because of the actions of Sitting Bull s army, they were forced to leave
the reservation or come face to face to the military. After all of these things occurred they were still

Lady Sings The Blues Essay
Over time the music industry has seen many varieties of artists, genres and songs. With each era
that comes and goes so does the kind of music that is popular during that time period. Even popular
musicians become less popular over time. Unfortunately sometimes an artist will not receive their
fame until they are dead and gone. Although they may no longer be the rage of right now an artist
will always be famous for the musicthey sang and played during their times. Lady Sings The Blues
is Billie Holiday s story from when she was just a young girl until a certain point in her life. This
book is her life story and gives more insight into what her life was like. Billie Holiday talks about
the struggles her family faces and then the struggles she faces at such a young age. She talks
about her prostitution and how she was raped. She also talks about the many times she was put
into different homes for girls and even jail. Billie Holiday even talks about her drug addiction.
Overall from the start of her life until the point she leaves off, she never really catches a break.

Aristotle’s Theory of Virtue and Happiness
Aristotle s Theory of Virtue and Happiness
Aristotle was one of the most respected philosophers of all time. He wrote on many subjects
covering a wide range of topics; politics, psychology, metaphysics, logic and ethics. In the article
Nature of Virtue written by Aristotle, his theory of a persons happinessand good morals is
explained. I agree that a human s goal in life is to be happy, and to live a good life but happiness
and good do not come hand in hand. In this paper, I disagree with Aristotle s proper function
argument.
The word happiness is a much broader term to Aristotle than what we think of. (Johnston, Para. F)

You must be taught to be good in order to be good. According to Aristotle, your characteristics
come from your actions; in other words, you become good by doing good (Cahn 113). Under
Aristotle s theory, to be a good person, you must have been taught to be good at a young age to
acquire good morals. In order to profit from the sort of study he is undertaking, one must already
have been brought up in good habits ( Traditional Virtues and The Skeptic .) This means the group
of people with potential to have virtue and happiness is limited. It is limited to the people who
come from a family with good ethics. The only people who are going to become good, are the
people who are already well on their way to be good because their family is training them to be
this way. But what about the people who come from bad families? Or what about the people
who were raised by ethically good families? For example, a child who was brought up by parents
who had no ethics or good morals at all. The mother was a drug addict, and the father ran away
while the child was at an early age. The child wasn t taught anything about morals, and did not
have a proper upbringing what so ever. Everything the child knew was learnt on his own, and he
decided who he wanted to be an acted in relation to this. This child ends up being a good person,
has a good job, and lives in happiness. When Aristotle makes the point that you must have had
exercise in virtues, he does not have any

population around 20 thousand people. The question asked was why does this matter? Why should

presenting on Pompeii he used multiple tools of communication to keep his audience engaging

questioning. Visuals like maps of Italy and the city of Pompeii were presented using a
PowerPoint. The presenter also showed pictures that he took himself when he toured Pompeii.
The fact that the pictures were taken himself really made the presentation more credible and
relatable. Presenter Pless told stories about his experience of touring Pompeii. Through this
presentation, I felt like I was on the tour and presenter Pless was my guide. From the stories and
the visuals, I was able to stay engaged through the entire presentation. By using humor presenter
Pless was able to keep the presentation serious, but also fun. My favorite statement was when he
said, Papa Murry s love at 425. Lastly by having a outline handed out before hand it made the
presentation easy to follow and kept the presenter orderly and organized. The outline was divided
up in three sections; volcano, venue, and victims of Pompeii. Having each section of the
presentation divided up I was able to take very detailed notes and gather my thoughts in an
organized fashion. In conclusion, the presentation was very informative and was presented very
professionally to all audience members. Hard work was put into this presentation and presenter

The Mystery Of Serial Killers
Serial killers have unsuspectingly dwelled among society for as long as evil has been amongst
the human race. The world would not be the same without these vile people. Yes, serial killers
are awful human beings but there is something about them that has, and will continue, to be a
topic of interest to the innocent. Serial killers are always talked about; in fictional movies,
documentaries, books, speeches, dinner topics, the list goes on. The average, day by day
people in society have always craved the mysteries of serial killers and that is what gives these
despicable people the reason to keep killing, fame. People do not kill without reason. There is
always a motive to a persons kill. That is why people always want to know more about... Show

These killers have given the world a vision and shown the people that it is possible to be a sick
kind of extraordinary. Anne E. Schwartz, author of, Inside a Murdering Mind wrote, If they
perish, the beauty of this earth will sink into the grave with them (Schwartz). This quote proves
the argument that the human race is fascinated with all of the different types of killers, and
would never be the same without them. Life as the human race knows it would be over.
Although not all serial killers lurking around the world are famous, there are a few that tend to
stand out all throughout the world and continue to stand out far after their death. Serial killers
such as Jeffrey Dahmer, David Berkowitz, and Ted Bundy are prime examples of killers that are
famous because of their horrendous ways. They all had three things in common. One, they were
killers. Two, they all got caught. Three, their all famously known for their unnatural actions.
These people are just a small portion of famously known serial killers around the world. These
sick men stick out the most because of their strange actions, making them all the more famous.
Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, former killer, cannibal, and sex offender was found guilty for the rape,
murder, and dismemberment of seventeen young boys and men. In Dahmer s case, everything was
post mortem (Schwartz). This shows how Dahmer was a strange serial killer, stranger than most

William Brennan Role Model
William Brennan: Dawn of Modern Justice Gender equality, freedom of speech, the right to vote.
These three things are familiar concepts to the modern American society, but just decades ago,
these basic human rights were still foreign concepts that remained implied in the American
Constitution. One of the major contributors, who crystallized these implications, was a former
associate justice of the Supreme Court, William Brennan. Being a ...leader on the supreme court

He was a committed civil libertarian who believed that the constitution guarantees freedom and
equality of rights and opportunities...to all people of this nation , One approach that Brennan
made with his ideal was in voting rights, such as his opinion in Baker v. Carr in 1962. The result
was the elimination or redrawing of voting districts that did not represent various voting classes
and Reynolds v. Sims, in 1964, which further enforced the constitutional principle of one person
one vote. Another concretion of Brennan s ideals was in the area of freedom of speech. His
opinion in New York Times Co. v. Sullivan greatly expanded freedom of press by prohibiting
officials from recovering damages of published false statements, or libel, unless they prove that the
statement was made with knowledge that it was false. This gave way to a more open political
discussion in the media like the one that America currently owns. Desegregation and sex
discrimination were, too, within Brennnan s sphere of influence. In the case of Green v. County
School Board of New Kent, Brennan s opinion dismantled the last barriers to desegregation. In the
Case of Shapiro v. Thompson in 1969, he calcify the implied fundamental rights doctrine that
invalidated classifications that equally affected voting rights, the right to be listed on the ballot,

Benefits And Benefits Of Pgd
Benefits of PGD
PGD can test for more than 100 different genetic conditions. Some of the conditions tested for are
life threatening or will adversely affect the way the individual and its parents will live, so
therefore a healthy (free of the disorder tested for) baby can be selected and implanted.
The procedure is executed before implantation which allows the couple to decide if they wish to
continue with the pregnancy. Therefore, the couple would not have to consider ending the
pregnancy once it is established, or go through an entire pregnancy then have a baby born with a
severe genetic disorder.
The procedure enables couples to pursue biological children who might not have done so
otherwise. Sometimes the reason miscarriages occur is due to the baby having a particular
chromosomal abnormality. When women are older, this can make the genetic material in your eggs
more likely to go wrong during fertilisation. A chromosomal defect in your baby is therefore more
likely to happen and this increases the likelihood of miscarriage, even recurrent miscarriage.
Disadvantages of PGD
PGD does not always result in pregnancy, and is a long, physically and emotionally demanding
process to go through and not have it result in a pregnancy.
PGD is significantly more expensive than conceiving a pregnancy the usual way and undergoing
prenatal testing
The PGD technology is still considered experimental, so technically long term effects are unknown.

Summary Of Andre Bazin s The Ontology Of The Photographic...
In Andre Bazin s essay, The Ontology of The Photographic Image , he argues that one of the
defining characteristics and inherent motivations in the production of art and artifacts, be it the
mummification of Pharaohs, portraits of Kings and Emperors, is the preservation of life by a
representation of life (Bazin 238). He elaborates that at the heart of the plastic arts, such as painting
and sculpture, is a need to make immortal the mortal and to turn the imageof our flesh into clay,
steel and paint. Bazin s essay touches on our need and motives to transform ourselves and preserve
our being beyond its physical existence. He focuses on how photographyis the purest form of
capturing reality and how the arrival of cinema challenges itself with preserving life as it is or was,
without the alteration and manipulation from editing. Points of Interest Although most of Bazin s
essay is very interesting to read, there are a few points that I felt stand out within the essay. Bazin
explains that painting, in its attempt in the production of realism, encountered a problem in
combining both the representation of the spiritual reality or the emotionally reality with the
representation of the physical reality. Bazin notes that painting can successfully represent the
emotionally reality, but that the reproduction of the physical reality will always lean towards and
illusion. This illusion that Bazin references throughout his essay, I believe, is alluding to the
inability to truly

Helen Keller Obstacles
A person with devastating handicaps is like a three year old who cannot reach the chocolate chip
cookies. He knows exactly what he wants, but his goal seems impossible to achieve. Helen Keller,
a young woman who became blind and deaf at an early age, knew she wanted to communicate and
overcame what some might have considered impossible obstacles. After analyzing several online
biographies, it is clear that Helen Kellerwas a woman who refused to accept defeat.
Helen Keller, even though blind and deaf, proved to be a very intelligent child. For example, after
Keller lost her sight and hearing at only 19 months of age, she did not learn to communicate until
Annie Sullivan arrived at the Keller home on March 3, 1887 (Daniels). With the

Their factories are not open to independent monitoring by the local non government. For
example, women are force to work 10 hours in seven days a week by paying them small amount
of money its seems that the human and labor rights of these workers are being violated by the
Kfc company. Moreover, Kfc Company must have responsibilities to care for the health and

Company will have to be careful to ensure that they do not do any of the following unethical
actions. Therefore, from my point of view, the above are the ethical values and operational
activities of Kfc Company, followed by their ethical issues that are most likely regarded to occur in

Rome The Power And Glory Summary
The documentary Rome The Power Glory summaries the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, as well
as its origin within the ancient civilization of the Etruscans. As the main force in ancient
civilization, the documentary also describes the massive influence Rome had on future empires. It s
through the use of commentary, reenactment, artifacts, ruins, and surviving art that the successes
and failures of the Roman Empireare displayed within this documentary. Within the documentary
one of the most notable features is the evidence that Romehad politically impacted other world
powers like France during Napoleon Bonaparte s reign and the early years of the United States of
America. The French military leader and the self proclaimed descendant of Roman Emperors,
Napoleon, had an undeniable admiration for the Roman Empire even as he made his way to
conquer it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same would go for the founding fathers of the United States, who centuries after the fall of
the empire, would adopt one of Rome s greatest creations, the republic. Yet, the most obvious
influencer on France and the United States was Cincinnatus, who embodied the classical virtues
of Rome. Both Napoleon Bonaparte and George Washington were inspired by the actions of
Cincinnatus s exemplary role as a political commander. This documentary, although very original
in its setup, is ideal in terms of its visuals and unbiased inclusion of all information pertaining to
Rome. The beginning starts with Napoleon invading an already weakened Rome, thus it doesn t
strictly follow chronological order as most documentaries do. Normally I find strictly organized
documentaries to be most effective, yet I find this setup to be very innovative. It s very impactful
to see the aftermath of the Roman Empire before its rise as the superpower of the ancient world. The

disturbing is that suicide among a young people nation wide have increased dramatically in recent
years. In fact thousands of teenagers each year commit suicide. It is the third leading cause of death
among young adults aged 15 24. With the first two leading causes being unintentional injury and
homicide. There are many reasons why teenagers feel the need to take their own life. They are at a

Violence in the home itself is worse. The home to adolescents is a place of comfort, if something
is wrong at school, then home is where they can forget about it. But if there is violence occurring
at the home, then children will not want to go there. This is the start of the buildup of pressure.
Teenagers feel the pressure of maintaining good grades during school. If the adolescent is doing
poorly in school, then he or she will feel the pressure to succeed and to do better in school work.
Stress is a basis for most of the problems teenagers will encounter during high school and college.
School work can be overwhelming especially for young adults. Schools are now issuing more
assignments than usual to prepare students for the real world. Some teachers and Professors,
however, do not realize the extremity of some of these assignments and projects. Most students,
especially highschool students, have a full schedule. These students are in school from about eight
in the morning to three in the afternoon. College can be just as bad. Even though most of the
students are now in class for about a third of the time, the school work is probably more than
doubled to that of a high school student. Many problems begin to occur at this stage in the life of
the student. Since the pressure is on more then ever, many adolescents take comfort in the company
of their friends. Friends during this time are extremely crucial for many reasons. The best being that

Gender Inequality And The Aristotelian Society
Gender Inequality in an Aristotelian Polity Aristotle s philosophies were deeply influenced by his
upbringing and interest in biology. He believed that the reason of a thing lies in its function.
Everything that exists has a purpose, and that purpose is the reason that thing is the way it is. For
example, all the substances that make up a seed are there because the way those particular
substances interact with each other causes that seed to grow. When the seed grows, it reaches its
full potential as a plant. Humans are the same. Humanbeings have a potential to live up to, which
is finding true happiness by living an honorable life. One lives an honorable life by complying
with societal standards, which are built through community based on three levels of
organization. The first of these is the household, which is designed to manage the necessities of
individual existence, such as procreation, sleep, nourishment, and shelter (pg. 35). The second is
the village, which in simple terms is the market place of society, where people buy and sell
goods and services. The last of the levels is the polis, the political community in charge of making
collective decisions in the public s best interest. Each of these levels performs an essential,
inescapable function in any society (pg. 35) Species survival is crucial to any society, and is
covered under the household level of government. But because species survival is so important,
those who are capable of bearing children will be

  • 2. Mammal Exhalation Research Paper A Mammal is a member of a large group of animals with warm blood, fur and the ability to produce milk. Gas exchange in mammals occurs by the inhalation of oxygen and the exhalation of carbon dioxide. As mammals inhale oxygen it passes through the trachea which is a long tube made out of c shaped cartilage ring which widens and lengthens as the mammal inhales and goes back to its normal shape when the mammal exhales. Inhalation is when the diaphragm relaxes releasing the pressure inside the lungs which draws oxygeninto the body through the mouth, down the trachea, bronchi (tubes connecting to the trachea) and the bronchioles (small connecting tubes between the bronchi and alveoli within the lungs). Exhalation is when it contracts and increases the pressure in the lungs pushing carbon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that before carbon dioxide can diffuse into the capillaries through the alveolus there must be a low carbon dioxide concentration in the alveolus so that is can diffuse out of the blood into the capillaries and into an alveolus (since diffusion is the movement of particles from an area of high to an area of low concentration). This is the same for oxygen but in order for oxygen to diffuse into the capillaries and then into the blood stream there must be a high concentration of oxygen in the alveolus, from here the oxygen rich blood flows to the many places around the body where it is needed. A ventilation system allows this process of diffusion of both gases to occur by getting rid of the carbon dioxide in the alveolus and bringing in more oxygen. A sustainable blood flow is crucial for Gas Exchange as it is the process of the diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide to and from the blood stream. The vast network of capillaries surrounding the alveolus ensures a continuous supply of blood to carry the oxygen away. Within the blood is the presence of the respiratory pigment called haemoglobin, this pigment binds with blood to increase the oxygen carrying ability of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Papers On Jay Martin We all have heard the phrase loose lips sink ships. On 19 May 2011, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) painted another picture in our mind regarding this phrase. The in depth investigation of Bryan Minkyu Martin revealed the real reasons why he betrayed the country for his own benefit. This is a classic example to prove cyber espionagecases can be alarming to our nation s national security. Bryan Minkyu Martin was born in Seoul, Korea in 1988. Peter and Barbara Martin, a psychologist and an intelligence specialist, adopted Martin at the age of two. His parents raised him in the small town of Mexico in upstate New York. In addition to Martin s espionage case, we can further understand the importance of securing classified information because it can seriously destroy relationships between countries. As a result, Martin deserved the punishment given to him because he knew the consequences of betraying his country. This case clearly indicates the reasons why we should have good communications at work and recognize individuals that may have issues that could possibly become an insider threat. In many organizations, documents such as the mission statement stand alone and are reviewed annually, put on company letter head, passed out on business cards and so forth. To increase the visibility of an organization, I would take steps to add bullets from the organizations ethicsprogram to things such as business cards, put it on the corporate website, have it as a screen saver on all corporate computers and even integrate it into the voice mail of phones and when callers are placed on hold. I would ensure the organization looks at its corporate ethics in a similar fashion as this look at their vision statement. To ensure the viability and sustainability of a corporate ethics program, Man Fong, McGeorge, Loosemore (2004) have broken the step of implementing a corporate ethics program into five step. • 5. Persuasive Essay About Public Shame Shame corrodes the very part of us that believes we are capable of change (BrenГ© Brown). In The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, a woman is publicly shamed for having a child with a man who is not her husband. Another example of public shame can be seen in modern day articles Florida Scarlet Letter Law is Repealed by Gov. Bush, by Dana Canedy, and Houston Couple Gets The Scarlet LetterTreatment. Both talk of public shamethat people have had to endure in the present day. Public shaming is not an effective punishment because it is a cruel and unusual punishment, it does not deter crime, and it can emotionally traumatize the one being shamed. One of the main reasons why public shame is not an effective punishment is because it is a cruel and unusual punishment. The Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution states that cruel and unusual punishments [shall not be] inflicted. The verdict of public shame is not morally just and should not be accepted in society. In The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynneundergoes public torment for having a baby with a man other than her husband. She feels the shame of the punishment most when forced to walk through the square, under the scrutiny and torment of the town: In a moment, however, wisely judging that one token of her shame would but poorly serve to hide another, she took the baby on her arm, and, with a burning blush, and yet a haughty smile, and a glance that would not be abashed, looked around at her ... • 6. The Importance Of The Geek Culture Today Geek Culture is a widely acknowledged sub culture across the world. Technology and media are ever changing and the Geek Culture reflects the changes with the acceptance of nerds , otaku , and the dweeb . Though mostly meant as derogatory terms they are now seen as acceptable jokes that are popular in this moment of history. Nerds are the socially awkward and intelligent population the term is also interchangeable with its outdated counterpart dweeb. Otakuwas used to insult adults who enjoyed animethat though not meant for children was still considered cartoons therefore childish; but now many refer to themselves as an otaku. Though accepted common stereotypes about the culture and its population still persist. The most prominent misconceptions include the belief that otaku are nothing but lazy, incompetent men that are all N.E.E.T. or hikikomori, not in education employment or training and someone who shuts themselves in there room away from society respectively, that don t contribute to society in any meaningful way. Some believe that everything otaku related is like a cancer infecting and affecting the healthy parts of society which is like calling it criminal to be an otaku. The perverted, lazy, and deadbeat otaku only make up the smallest but most visible portion of otaku society. • 7. JRR Tolkien and the Twentieth Century Essay The early twentieth century saw an upheaval of normal life in Europe because of the Great War and the changing political and social systems. In the midst of this time, JRR Tolkien found himself transformed from a young student at Oxford to a soldier in the British army as war broke out across the continent. This war affected his life deeply, whether indirectly while he was at Oxford or through his time in the trenches in direct combat. As a dedicated academic, however, Tolkien never abandoned his passion for languages and mythology but used his experiences to bolster his own writings and creative pursuits. Secondly, this extensive time and companionship with only men is clearly seen in the relationships in The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien, never exposed to colleagues who were women, only formed strong ties with other men in the academics that dominated his life. Throughout Tolkien s trilogy, a reader finds few strong female characters, but a great emphasis on lasting male companionship. Examples such as Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf, Sam and Frodo, and Merry and Pippin demonstrate friendships that were not stopped by borders or any challenge of life. Moreover, Tolkien s friends were primarily occupied with talking, drinking, smoking, and walking all characteristic activities of the hobbits of Middle Earth. Even before he was seriously developing the trilogy that would create a new genre of literature, he gathered experiences that would be models for his created world. Once the Great War began, Tolkien described it as a collapse of all my world. Even Oxford, the place he had always depended on to stay safely hidden in his studies, had been breached. Refugees flooded in to use the space, quickly draining of young men eager to fight, as a camp for safety and other war readiness efforts. Tolkien avoided the 1915 draft for as long as he could manage because he was recently engaged, but was sent to fight in northern France within a few months. I am an American citizen, a retired military member with twenty three years honorable service to this country. I am a patriot, a husband, a father, and a grandfather. I have no political aspirations nor do I want any notoriety. I just want to get America back. I want her to be strong and healthy. I want her to resume her leadership role in the world. • 10. Abolish The Penny Essay Getting rid of the Penny is a good idea Should we abolish the penny? , is a question that a lot of people have ask. I think that we should abolish the penny, because it is costing the US more to make the penny than it is even worth. Every year the U.S. Treasury produces 12 to 14 billion pennies at a cost of $90 million. If we abolished the penny, instead of paying $39.99, we could round it up to $40.00, or round it down to the nearest nickel, and make it $39.95. The penny is not worth as much as it used to be. In the 1940 s, a penny would get you to pieces of candy, but today you cannot buy anything with a single penny. These days, people don t even take their time to bend down and pick up a penny that is laying on the side walk. In the story we read, the dad offered his shoe box full of pennies to his eight year old son, to wrap up in rolls of 50, but his son told him Thanks, dad, but it isn t worth it. While the blood that is shed is a tangible reminder of the outcomes of misused power, it also serves as an image that provokes Macbeth to reflect upon his deeds, even if he does not change his behavior. Macbethbecomes obsessed with the blood on his hands. Unfortunately, this reminder of his guilt does not prevent him from continuing violent acts. Marshall Mc Luhan. Post Banquo s murder, the references to blood increase even further, with quotes like, don t shake thy gory locks at me becoming all the more common. The murderers, whom Macbeth had hired to kill Banquo, describe his body lying in a ditch with twenty trenched gashes on his head . • 14. Studying Moral Philosophy Every person at least once in his life felt that he has done something wrong or even immoral, and was encouraged to change his behavior. Even as a child many of us were constantly told: Think about your behavior! This reminder helps realize that one of the most powerful determinants of human behavior stems from our need to justify our actions. This feeling of discomfort caused by performing a certain action is called cognitive dissonance. However, sometimes justification of our actions, caused by cognitive dissonance, leads to the thought: Who decided what is right or wrong? or in other words: What and where is the perfect example of living a moral life? Studying moral philosophyshows us that people hold different worldviews that contain different models of moral justification. Based on the analysis of two philosophies, naturalism and theism, this paper argues that theism provides a better framework for making sense of moralityand living a moral live, because it has more explanatory power regarding the notion of free will that people have. Naturalism mainly is though as a type of scientism, which implies that only things recognized by scientists as real are real. Although, there are many naturalists who hold this particular view, it is not the necessary feature of naturalism. Cinderella wouldn t have had the opportunity to attend the ball if it weren t for the dress she viewed as perfect and the fact that she looked presentable. This can serve as an example of double standards because men usually escape with the way they perceive or represent themselves physically, meanwhile women have to try twice as hard to look presentable. This brings to attention that looks play a big role when grabbing the attention of men. It shows to young girls that not unless you are adequately dressed or have what society defines as beautiful then you won t get far in life. For example, at the ball the Prince rejects every girl that invite him to dance, until he sees Cinderella. Both the Prince and Cinderella had a fast and real connection, but that vanishes when Cinderella remembers that she had a designated curfew. The following days of the ball, the prince goes in search for Cinderella after she left her glass slipper behind. The glass slipper is the only item he has of her along with the connection the experienced. The Prince going after after Cinderella can also serve as an example of society. He went looking after her which now we could also see this in society. Men are usually the ones to chase after women. • 19. Prenatal Genetic Testing Raise Ethnic Issues In Improvements in Prenatal Genetic Testing Raise Ethnic Issues, R. J. Crayton produced an article about prenatal testing and whether or not parents should be allowed to have these tests done. First the situation of a high risk baby who will have a disability or defect after birth, so the parents decide to abort the child is being viewed as an inequality to the disabled community. Secondly, certain adoptions are put on hold since the biological parents chose to not carry the unborn child through the entire pregnancy, however, the surrogate mother wants to carry the child through the entire term. Lastly, research shows that the results can be a false positive, so unintentionally the parents decide not to keep the unknown, but healthy baby. To start off with the population that is born with defects or disabilities view the test results as a discriminating factor against them because of parents wanting to abort children like them. According to Professor Daniel Williams, he shows that a speculative society standards may arise to ...produce a healthy child... due to the test results (Crayton, R.J.). • 20. Explain How Social Class Is A Big Factor In Determining... In today s society people have different life chances depending on what social class they are born into. In this essay I will be exploring how social class is a big factor in determining life chances. For example, you are more likely to receive a better education if you go to a private or public school, which only the middle/upper classes can afford. The only way a working class student could afford the fee paying schools is through a scholarship. This is clearly unfair as scholarships are very competitive and people who can afford to pay for private/public schools apply for them as well. This shows that social classhas a big factor in determining life chances, because if you have a middle/upper class upbringing you can essentially pay to have a better life. Life chances can also be influenced by material deprivation; such as catchment areas. In deprived areas there are many social problems such as; high unemployment, poverty, juvenile delinquency, crime, drug abuse and poor role models. This can have a negative effect on a child education as they could rebel against school and fall into a pupil subculture. Also, people with more money tend to go to better free schools due to catchment area and can prevent a person from going to a better school. If you look at life chances from a working class perspective, we have to look at the work of Karl Marx. Marx believed that the working class are forced to sell their labour power to the capitalists since they own no means of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Unionism Has Impacted the Airline Industry in Us How unionism has impacted the Airline industry in US Penn State Harrisburg Abstract In the wake of a sizable slump in demand driven by economic downturns, terrorism attacks (especially the events of September 11, 2001) as well as increased competition from low cost carriers, many incumbent U.S. airlines have been attempting a fundamental restructuring of their operations. Many would argue that a central element in this restructuring should include an overhaul of the labor management relationship. This paper presents information regarding labor unions in the airline industry of the US, in order to analyze and then summarize main points of how they have impacted and affected this industry overall. 1. Overview of the air ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were major concerns regarding increased industry concentration of a few dominant carriers controlling the market. As the airlines began to face a deregulatory reality of competition and the resulting pressure on cost containment during the early 1980s, airline management put pressure on labor to provide the airlines with financial relief, in order to survive. Reducing labor costs appeared to be the strategy of choice for many carriers in the drive to maintain a competitive position in the industry if not only for mere survival. Despite the carrier pressure on airline labor in the deregulatory era, the airline industry remained one of the strongholds of traditional industrial relations. Union density was estimated to be at 39.5 percent in the late deregulatory period between 1983 and 1997. On the other hand, representation rates reached almost 50 percent during this regulatory period 5(Hirsh and Macpherson, 2000). Many believe that deregulation leads to an erosion of union effectiveness, while regulation leads to increase in union effectiveness. Despite the change in regulation of the industry, relations and negotiations between airlines and their labor unions continues to be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Railway Labor Act (RLA). In order to profit from the sort of study he is undertaking, one must already have been brought up in good habits ( Traditional Virtues and The Skeptic .) This means the group of people with potential to have virtue and happiness is limited. It is limited to the people who come from a family with good ethics. • 37. Benefits And Benefits Of Pgd Benefits of PGD PGD can test for more than 100 different genetic conditions. Some of the conditions tested for are life threatening or will adversely affect the way the individual and its parents will live, so therefore a healthy (free of the disorder tested for) baby can be selected and implanted. The procedure is executed before implantation which allows the couple to decide if they wish to continue with the pregnancy. Therefore, the couple would not have to consider ending the pregnancy once it is established, or go through an entire pregnancy then have a baby born with a severe genetic disorder. The procedure enables couples to pursue biological children who might not have done so otherwise. Sometimes the reason miscarriages occur is due to the baby having a particular chromosomal abnormality. When women are older, this can make the genetic material in your eggs more likely to go wrong during fertilisation. A chromosomal defect in your baby is therefore more likely to happen and this increases the likelihood of miscarriage, even recurrent miscarriage. Disadvantages of PGD PGD does not always result in pregnancy, and is a long, physically and emotionally demanding process to go through and not have it result in a pregnancy. PGD is significantly more expensive than conceiving a pregnancy the usual way and undergoing prenatal testing The PGD technology is still considered experimental, so technically long term effects are unknown. • 39. Summary Of Andre Bazin s The Ontology Of The Photographic... In Andre Bazin s essay, The Ontology of The Photographic Image , he argues that one of the defining characteristics and inherent motivations in the production of art and artifacts, be it the mummification of Pharaohs, portraits of Kings and Emperors, is the preservation of life by a representation of life (Bazin 238). He elaborates that at the heart of the plastic arts, such as painting and sculpture, is a need to make immortal the mortal and to turn the imageof our flesh into clay, steel and paint. Bazin s essay touches on our need and motives to transform ourselves and preserve our being beyond its physical existence. He focuses on how photographyis the purest form of capturing reality and how the arrival of cinema challenges itself with preserving life as it is or was, without the alteration and manipulation from editing. Points of Interest Although most of Bazin s essay is very interesting to read, there are a few points that I felt stand out within the essay. Bazin explains that painting, in its attempt in the production of realism, encountered a problem in combining both the representation of the spiritual reality or the emotionally reality with the representation of the physical reality. Bazin notes that painting can successfully represent the emotionally reality, but that the reproduction of the physical reality will always lean towards and illusion. This illusion that Bazin references throughout his essay, I believe, is alluding to the inability to truly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s through the use of commentary, reenactment, artifacts, ruins, and surviving art that the successes and failures of the Roman Empireare displayed within this documentary. Within the documentary one of the most notable features is the evidence that Romehad politically impacted other world powers like France during Napoleon Bonaparte s reign and the early years of the United States of America. He believed that the reason of a thing lies in its function. Everything that exists has a purpose, and that purpose is the reason that thing is the way it is.
