Tompkins Conservation
Deforestation, pollution, poaching, and soil abuse are just four of the innumerable factors that lead
to deleterious effects on the environment. With more and more trees falling under the determined
chainsaws and axe blows of illegal loggers and soil loss from tenuous irrigation methods, South
American governments have a rising concern to protect its ecosystem. But an unusual, and equally
controversial, solution came not within the restraining bounds of the country borders, but from the
efforts of the American multi millionaire and philanthropic conservationist, Douglas Tompkins.
Concerned about the ecology of South America, Tompkins purchased sumptuous strips of forest
land to shield it from the venomous ways of poachers and illegal loggers.... Show more content on

The best solution to this imminent conflict would be for Tompkins to expropriate a sizeable chunk
of his land to national conservatories to ensure the public had sufficient access to public road,
ancestral grounds, and water and mineral rights. However, he should also maintain a steadfast
determination to keep most of his land as long as necessary to ensure it has recovered from past
human interactions and see it delivered safely into the hands of Argentine conservatories. As a
whole, his campaign to conserve the environment has been successful and beneficial both to him
and the ecosystem. In culmination, Tompkins, as a conservational philanthropist, has inaugurated
his conservational efforts to accumulate a sizeable portion of foreign nations. Due to lawmakers
and local residents rising concern of his control of natural resources and his property blocking
public transportation routes, he must devise a solution that will satisfy both conservational and
public demands. Thus, the most effective and equitable solution would be to sequester most of his
land to local conservation efforts, so as to ensure the government had adequate control over its
natural resources and access to ancestral

Descriptive Essay About Anime Essay
It was a hot Friday afternoon around mid July. While most girls would be sunbathing at the
beach or shopping with friends, you were at your favorite place: the book store. Specifically, the
manga section. Ever since you were introduced to your first anime, you had been hooked on the
genre: the art style, the music, the storylines. That was probably one of the reasons you decided
to spend a summer in Japan of all places. However, there may have been another reason you were
drawn to Japan. The day you arrived, you had been walking to the cheap hotel you would call home
for the next three months, when a group of high school boys ran into you. You immediately lost
control of the suitcase, tripping off the curb and spraining your ankle. You... Show more content on

Then a bright smile graced his face. So, did you know that Rohan Kishibe actually lives in
Morioh? You paused. Should you pretend like you knew what he was talking about? That
generally got you into trouble so... What? Don t tell me you haven t read Pink Dark Boy! You
smiled apologetically. We have to go right now! Wait, what? You need to meet Rohan! You
know him? Yeah, he s a stand user? WHAT THE HELL?! Koichi was dragging you out of the
store. What the helm had you gotten yourself into? Guido Mista Why was it that people always
asked what do you want to be when you grow up? How were you supposed to know. Even if you
knew with all your heart you wanted to be a marine biologist, one day you might wake up and
decide that playing the tuba was your passion. All in all, you just liked to take things as they
came. And that was why you were here. Why not take a trip to Italy? Maybe you d like learning
a new language, maybe you d become a renaissance art historian. It was just something new to
explore, and your parents even agreed to fund it (because, this was a purely educational trip, of
course). You were stopping at a small cafГ© for a (very educational) coffee and a bite to eat. As
you sat down at the outside table, hanging your purse on the back of your seat, you two oddly
dressed men accompanied by a young woman at the table next to you. Slowly

Federal Government Regulatory Agencies
Question #1: The government in its duties and responsibilities to its citizen sometimes needs to
regulate the behaviors and actions of private citizens or corporation for the common good. Most
of the time regulations are designed by statute but the enforcement of the statues are carried out by
regulatory agencies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Election
commission (FEC). Regulatory agencies don t just exist at the federal level either, Federal
regulatory agencies like the FDA and FEC carry out federally mandated regulations passed down
from Congress of the executive branch but the same principle applies at the Stateand Local levels as

At the most basic division, there are three main levels of governments in the United States; The
Federal level, the State level, and the Local level. Each of these levels has their own legitimacy,
their own authority/jurisdiction and most of the time has their own way wo working with or
around the other levels though there is sometimes clashes. Let s start with Legitimacy first. The
Constitution of the United States of America is the overarching document that gives legitimacy and
the authority to govern to the various governments in the U.S, but specifically the Federal
government. States in the United States also have their own constitutions that they draw legitimacy
and authority from as well as specific regulations. The Constitution also act a the framework for
what the different levels of government are authorized to do, thought the 14th amendment opened
the floodgates on authority for the Federal government. But in a generalized sense, The federal
government acts mostly in the areas of foreign policy, national defense and any endeavors that cross
state jurisdictions in the U.S, particularly interstate commerce. State governments focus mostly on
directly providing for and regulating goods and services within their state, along with distributing
federal grant money and transferring money to local services. Local governments almost
exclusively provide goods and services within their jurisdiction and utilize funds from both the
federal and state levels. As per the U.S. Constitution the Federal government has the authority to;
Lay and collect taxes, provide for the common defence, provide for the general welfare, borrow
money, regulate commerce with foreign nations, Indian tribes, and between states, establish rules of

Nora Was A Poor Wife
Nora was a poor wife because she was only playing the part. She didn t truly understand her
husband or the pressures he was under and it was her security in her delusion that failed her, not
Torvald s failure to meet some fantasized expectation that she had of him. She was surprised by
her husband s reaction because she didn t understand the pressures he was faced with as a man
of that time. Her failure to take responsibility and communicate her error as well as her attempts
to hide it from him, like a child who s broken something, had robbed him of any chance to
intervene and Torvald was right to be upset with her. However, Torvald was equally guilty of
neglecting his duty to understand his wife in any meaningful way. He failed to establish any real
communication with his wife and their marriage suffered for it. Even still, Torvald wasn t
completely without reason in his initial reaction. While his reaction was a bit rash, Nora s action
hadn t just compromised Torvald s reputation, the threat extended to the entire family. Her poor
judgement had threatened to undo everything he had dedicated his life to working towards, and
even in his rage he doesn t wish to send her away. We see when he s calmed down that he does in
fact love Nora and intends to address the problems that have been illuminated through this situation.

Health Care Marketing Reflection Essay
Health Care Marketing Reflection Essay
Markets change, tastes change, so the companies and the individuals who choose to compete in
those markets must change. ( Wang, n.d. as cited by Morrison, p. 113). In modern medicine, disease
treatment is more importance than disease prevention, as doctors focus more on treatment of
symptoms of rather than determining its root cause. This is mirrored in the media by the large
numbers of direct consumer advertisements aimed at persuading patients themself to ask their
doctors about various drug. Direct consumer marketing in the health care industry is allowed in the

care services and products. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is true that the patients are more willing to discuss their symptoms as they saw those symptoms
referred in the advertisements, but this does not improve the patient communication, as most of the
patients are only interested in asking for a prescription as advertised with barely any information of
the relevant medical facts. The doctors when asked for a specific prescription may give it to the
patient, rather than talk more about the condition leading to over medicated and unhealthy society.
Not enough lashes? Ask your doctor about LATISSE the first and only FDA approved treatment
that grows lashes longer, fuller and darker. (Allergan, Inc. 2010). The commercial featuring Brooke

does not even look at the side effect; if it s good for the celebrity it is good for them. Advertisements
like these use strategies that generate false impressions, manipulate, and lead on consumers instead
of enlightening them about the drug.
Most advertisements are impractical in representing medicines part in attaining health, downplaying
drug risks, presenting visual elements to distract consumers like an antihistamine commercial

reclaim full control of their lives after consuming the drug. The advertisements do

information provided. Our team has concluded maintaining a good reputation in the industry is a
critical success factor for Game Shop Inc. because this industry is an oligopoly and anything that

The billing scorecards are informative to the PMs and others, however it does not seem to be
improving billing timeliness as the grades have not increased significantly on average(insert
endnote). The punitive nature of the scorecards (ie. Detention meetings) have the right goal in
mind but may cause managers to harbor resentment which most likely would not lead to the
desired effect. Since the P Cars focus more on procedures rather than personnel, we will focus our
alternatives mainly on procedural aspects as P Cars were the most successful.
Alternative 2:
Another alternative is to have an IT system that is integrated into the billing system. It can have
several advantages and resolve key issues effecting billing accuracy and timeliness. An important
flaw that an IT system will help address is efficiency in the billing process. Currently, billing work
can only be submitted once a week and reports take too long to download onto a PM s computer.
With an integrated system, bill processing time is reduced through automation. Since changes in
estimates are common, there can be a lot of paperwork submissions that have to go through the
proper channels. Automated entry saves time, money, and can be more accurate. Managementis
able to update POs quickly and easily. Some customers might not be happy with the current system
of receiving POs because they quickly become obsolete. With

The Beliefs Of Faith In Martin Luther s The Freedom Of God
When you hear the word faith, what comes to your mind? Do you think of religion, purpose, or
your belief in something?
What is faith? Is it a feeling, a thought, or a concept? As Martin Luther said in his book Freedom
of a Christian, faith is God s work in us, that changes us and gives new birth from God. When one
thinks of faith, they maybe think about their personal relationship with God and the unconditional
love He has. He who through faith is righteous shall live. The Word of God cannot be interpreted
by any works but only by faith. Martin Luther had stated that, It is clear that, as the soul needs
only the Word of God for its life and righteousness, so it is justified by faith alone and not any
works. (Janz, A Reformation Reader, pg 109)
There are three powers or virtues of faith that Martin Luther describes. Firstly, justification
through faith alone, which means we are free from the law and works as regards our justification
and salvation. Secondly, unity of man and Christ like bride to bridegroom which means faith unites
the soul to Christ, and lastly, the ability to ascribe to [God] truthfulness, righteousness, and
whatever else should be ascribed to one who is trusted. (Luther, The Freedom of a Christian, p. 103)
The first proposition of the three powers of faith is, Every Christian is by faith so exalted above
all things that, in spiritual power, he is completely lord of all things, so that nothing whatever can
do him any hurt; yea, all things are

Escape In The Gulag
The absolute freedom to choose is a gift, especially in a Russian gulag. The freedom to choose is
not always given, and most of the time it has to be found. Absolute freedom of choice means
that you have all the freedom you need to make a decision that is wanted. The choices giving to
zeks at the time were slim to none at all. In fact most prisoners that had freedom, were willing to
risk their lives to have it. One example of this is Captain Buynovsky. One day, Captain was

against the rules. Captain, being the headstrong naval officer that he is, would not go down without
a fight and pulled out the rule book on the soldier. The reason this... Show more content on

Profound anxiety is unlike any other feeling, it is a crippling feeling that overtakes you soul and
makes the feeling of fear and regret. It makes a hopeless feeling in your soul one that is hard to
forget. One scene in the story that portrays anxiety is when Ivan puts the small blade he finds in his
mitten. One way of survival in the gulag is to use what you can find. When Ivan find a sharp piece
of steel on the ground, he takes it, and doesn t know where to hide it. As he gets closer to being
patted down by the guards, he decides that he should put it into his mitten. When he gets to the
front of the line, he starts to stress out thinking that the guards are going to find the blade. The
guard checked one mitten, was about to grab for the other mitten, and then got distracted and let
Ivan through the check. Another example was when one of the campers, Moldavian, got lost and
no guards could find him, which meant that all of the zeks had to stand outside, and wait until they
found him. They had to wait as long as it took, even if that meant missing dinner. This gave all of
the zeks one thing to think about, and that was missing dinner. Every person knew that missing a
meal would be the worst thing that could happen, and the anxiety really kicked

Modernism In The Big Two-Hearted River By Ernest Hemmingway
The topic of war is predominately associated with the history of the world. However, in English
literature, the theme of war is chronicled in various ways that explain past occurrences and retells
stories that occurred in history. One vital genre within English literature is Modernism; formed in
the period of war to convey messages that focus on the psychological aftermaths of the conflicts.
Modernism is literarily defined as the intentional philosophical divergence of the literature and arts
of the olden times, which occurred in the 20th century, with a shift towards an avant garde style and
movements (Dictionary.com). One famous literary work to come out of this thought change was
The Big Two Hearted Riverby Ernest Hemmingway. Hemmingway belonged to the pioneer writing

The Great War, as it is famously known, caused a major cultural shift. It had the consequences of
breaking the social norms that existed at that time and was replaced with newer ways of
interaction with the world. The war prompted the society to be more experimental and convinced
them to embrace the unfamiliarity of individualism. The people saw war as a constant and
therefore were actively looking for means to escape this reality. As the lost generation focused their
literature on the inner workings of their consciousness, so did the society, but wholesomely. Due to
this fact, the Modernist writers cultivated the core and fundamental virtues of that era that is how
the inner consciousness functions and how it affects the self. The Big Two Hearted River by
Hemmingway is a perfect example of this Modernism shift since it describes the life of a soldier

Morrie Schwartz was a man of great wisdom who loved and enjoyed to see and experience the
simplicity of life, something beyond life s most challenging and unanswered mysteries. It is
from Morrie that we learn that life is most happily experienced when enjoyed and fulfilled to its
highest ability. Morrie touched the lives of many, and he will always be remembered for his
sincerity and his compassion for life and for love. The lessons Morrie loved to teach were of his
own experience with life.
In his lessons, Morrie advises Mitch to reject the popular culture in favor of creating his own. The
individualistic culture Morrie encourages Mitch to create for him is a culture founded on love,
acceptance, and human goodness, a culture that upholds a set of ethical values unlike the mores
that popular culture endorses. Popular culture, Morrie says, is founded on greed, selfishness, and
superficiality, which he urges Mitch to overcome. Morrie also stresses that he and Mitch must
accept death and aging, as both are inevitable.
A symbol that represents Morrie s life throughout the book is the pink hibiscus plant. As Morrie s
body deteriorates, so does the condition of the hibiscus plant. The plant s pink petals wither and
fall as Morrie grows increasingly dependent on his aides and on oxygen. As his death approached,
so does the death of the plant. It is used as a metaphor for Morrie

without understanding that man produces evil as a bee produces honey, must have been blind

perception of humanity with his years of experience with schoolboys. (1) His writing mostly

American Cultures, Culture, And Ethnicities Of Latin America
Ethnicities of Latin America By Natalie L. Caragianis Latin America is a place of many
different cultures and ethnicities, tribes and religious groups. These communities are anywhere
from ancient to modern, and have adopted to western culture while staying true to their
traditional cultures. Today we will discuss 3 traditional cultures from Latin America, the Mayas,
the Olmecs, and the Incas. All of these cultures have a rich past and their descendants remain
among us today. The Mayans were a unique group of people with their own believes, and culture
that flourished in what is now central america as early as 1500 B.C. The mayas were split into
several city states with individual leaders. All of the states followed the same rules, religion, and
even calendars. Speaking of calendars, these people used 2, a religious calendar that consists of
a 260 day year, and a more accurate 365 day year calendar, used for farming purposes. The Mayas
were very sophisticated people. They used an agricultural method called the slash and burn for
more efficient farming. Many groups in this time had no written language, the Mayans used an
alphabet of picture like symbols used for communication. The Maya were very curious people,
and enjoyed studying math and science, along with star patterns. The Mayans had and have a very
unique religion, over the years, they have blended with catholicism. The Mayas were at their best
for approximately 650 years. After this period the Maya had a

Cohabitation By Andrew J. Postag81v1 s Article From 2004,...
Over the past few decades, cohabitation has become more recent for couples and families.
Cohabitation is when a couple who is not married is living under the same roof as if they are
married. It does not refer to roommates or family members who live together, at least two people
have to be in a romantic union for it to count as cohabitation. Cohabiting can be for a variety of
different reasons. In the 1990s, around 2.5 million people were cohabiting but as of 2015 about
8.3 million people were cohabiting. (Cherlin 2004) Pamela Smock (2000) argues that cohabitation
has increased tremendously over the past but it is short lived by couples either breaking the
relationship off or proceeding to get married. Andrew J. Cherlin s article from 2004, The
Deinstitutionalization of American Marriage, argues that marriage is becoming deinstitutionalized
while cohabitation is becoming institutionalized. More couples are starting to realize that they do
not need a piece of paper to signify their love or compassion for one another. If they are happy living
together unmarried than they should not need to get married, which is why cohabiting is becoming
more prominent. The first transition, noted by Ernest Burgess, was from the institutional marriage
to the companionate marriage. The second transition was to the individualized marriage in which
the emphasis on personal choice and self development expanded. (Cherlin pg. 848) According to
Cherlin, two transitions within marriage

The Christian Bible is a collection of books that provides faith, hope, and guidelines that the
Christian faith has used for decades. Many people use the Bible as a tool for everyday live, and
in hopes of gain eternal life after death. The Christian Bible gives an account of Jesus life while he
was on earth. For decades, people have questioned the veracity of the Christian Biblefor many
reasons. I would like to talk about one the reason people question whether or not the Christian
Bible is just a novel or if it is a true account of the life of Jesus. In the Bible, The Gospels of
Matthew, Mark, and Luke are called the Synoptic Gospel, because they give a panorama or

perspectives. (Puchner ,1151).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe these stories are written from a distinctive perspective because Matthew, Mark, and Luke
were talking to three different types of people. I believe that in their willingness to spread the

reach would understand the message of Christ.
The book of Matthew, the author is believed to be one of the 12 disciples Matthew. Matthew is

directed a version of the play which had many similarities and differences to Baz Luhrmann.
Furthermore, both films have many similar and different interpretations of Mercutio from the
original play. However, Harold Perrineau did a more realistic portrayal of Mercutio s death,
while McEnery demonstrated a more comedic portrayal of Mercutio. In general, McEnery
demonstrates being more comedic than Harold Perrineau. For example, when McEnery decides
to pull up the nurse s dress and decides to make fun of her by singing that she is a prostitute.

Leading up to Mercutio s death in front of Romeo in both films, when Tybalt and Mercutio are
fighting, Zefferelli has them playing around. This scene makes it look like as if Tybalt and
Mercutio are just fighting to fight. After Mercutio is stabbed, Benvolio asks Mercutio if he is
hurt and Mercutio responds with, Ay, ay, a scratch. Marry, tis enough (Shakespeare 3.1.97 100).
During these lines of dialogue, McEnery portrays Mercutio as a jokester because he crawls up
the church steps and falls again, while everyone is laughing at him. Although, in the original
play we know Mercutio jokes around and is never to be taken seriously, Mercutio s death in the
modern film is more believable. Harold Perrineau portrays a more serious death of Mercutio. He
acts more believable as someone actually dying. Mercutio s final moment happens when he gets a
deep cut from a piece of glass during the fight between Tybalt. Mercutio is yelling at Romeo while
he is dying. No one thinks that Mercutio is playing around. This is how Perrineau did an excellent
job at portraying Mercutio s

Challenges for Microfinance Organizations Serving the Poor
WHAT CHALLENGES DO MICROFINANCE ORGANISATIONS FACE IN THEIR ATTEMPTS
TO SERVE THE POOR? ASSESS THE POTENTIAL BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS OF
MICROFINANCE IN IMPROVING LIVING STANDARDS.
Over the last 15 years microfinance institutions (MFIs) have rapidly expanded. The number of
poor families with a microloan has grown from 7.6 million in 1997 to 137.5 million in 2010.
Microcredit has generated significant confidence for fast poverty alleviation; creating a multiplier
effect leading to the eradication of poverty and hunger, universal primary education, the promotion
of gender equality and empowerment of women in developing nations. It can be argued that
microcredit is a win win opportunity, in which the poor are given the financial capital and ... Show

Within the villages of Bangladesh, weekly meetings occur with a loan officer from an MFI, who
records the weekly instalments on outstanding loans, saving deposits and fees. The loan office also
offers advice, sorts out discrepancies and makes arrangements for customers to obtain new loans
from the local branch office. All of these meetings occur in public, thus making the process more
transparent as it lets the villagers know who among them is moving forward and who may be
running into difficulties (Armendariz Morduch, 2010 p.98).
However, joint liability has its disadvantages as it can bring costs to the borrowers such as low
flexibility, the loss of social capital for defaults beyond a person s control and peer pressure to
undertake excessively risk adverse activities (Todaro Smith, 2011). Group lending ignores the fact
that group members must spend time to assess each other projects along with the fact that group
members may live far off from each other (Hermes Lensink, 2007). The peer pressure aspect of
group lending has led to sanctions being implemented on potential or actual defaulters, they were
not just economic but were also social discriminating and tensions had become unpleasant and
oppressive for those concerned (Madajewicz, 2011). Moreover, it has been argued that the size of

Requirements And Issue Management Systems
1.Requirements and Issue Management Systems
Requirements and issue management systems allow managers or leaders to classify and affiliate
characteristics with them, and to establish and evaluate dependencies and other common ties.
Requirements set the stage for a project and issue management is an important process of
identifying and resolving issues (Cook, 2015). Shaw Industries used an agile methodology called
Scrum to improve relationships between IT and business partners to ensure project success (O
Brien Marakas, 2011). IT used this tool to work collectively as a group and determine which
project will give Shaw Industries the best value. They divided the project into segments: 30 days to
complete a series of tasks. Once the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
IT must have something to show during its effort, and if they deliver, this will promote a positive
relationship.
A healthy organization is one that involves people who are loyal to one another, never judges,
expresses genuine appreciation across their organizational structure, assists others with critical tasks
and never places blame on someone (Williams, 2013). When businesses make and keep promises,
they see strong trust and respect across the organization. If they often make commitments but fail to
keep them, people will see frustration and self starving behavior (Williams, 2013). Shaw Industries
focused on consistency to build a trusting relationship with their client. They delivered priorities by
an explicit deadline and in turn, trust was earned. A customer s ability to trust is dependent upon
showing the customer that your behavior is consistent and persistent over time. When a customer
can predict your behavior, that customer is more likely to trust you (James, 2012).
While the agile system was the popular choice for Shaw Industries, this certainly does not mean it is
the best choice for every organization. There are hundreds of Requirements and Issue Management
software available. SpiraTest, RequirementsHub, DevSpec, Gatherspace and Bugzilla are just a few
that are popular today (Top Requirements Management Software Products, 2015). Each has their
own set of tools and configurations to assist project managers. An effective issue management

Evidence Based Practices for Homeless Sexual Minority Youth
Kerri Dunn Bales and Mary Ann Callaway University of Oklahoma
Abstract: SMY (sexual minority youth, which refers within this paper to youth who identify as gay,
lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or queer) are at risk for trauma in particularly high numbers. When
SMY become homeless, their risk for exposure to trauma becomes even higher, presenting the
helping professions with a population that faces unique problems in clinical settings that may seek
to treat homelessness without considering minority stress and repeated exposure to trauma. We
reviewed literature concerned with trauma, homelessness and SMY issues to determine which
EBPs (evidence based practices) have been deemed most helpful for this population and found very
few. Our investigation into local resources available to homeless SMY was similarly discouraging.
Since previous trauma and marginalized sexual orientation are the primary factors for continued
risk, we can suggest that Trauma Informed Care and Gay Affirmative Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
are currently our best choices. This paper will seek to explore why.
Description of the Problem: When discussing homeless SMY, we should remember that we are
looking at the intersection of two populations whose risk factors for trauma are already elevated. To
better understand these risks we looked at three

The Public Company Sonic Drive Corporation
The public company Sonic Drive Corporation was my choice of analysis because of being
familiar with the field of work. Sonic Corporation, also known as Sonic Drive In, is a fast food
restaurant chain that originated in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As of 2015, Sonic has 3,526
drive ins across 44 states. The total amount of drive ins includes company and franchise owned.
Sonic has operated since the 1950 s and is known for its carhops delivering food to cars on roller
skates (Shine). The restaurant s menu consists of hamburgers and hot dogs with fries and tots
following as side items. The drink options available range all the way from soft drinks to slushes
and even milkshakes. Customers are also given the choice to combine different flavors to create
thousands of drink possibilities. It all started at the end of World War II. The founder of Sonic,
Troy N. Smith resided in Seminole, Oklahoma. His job at the end of the war was as a milkman.
Soon after that career, he opened up a cottage cafГ© named Troy s Pan Full of Chicken. By the
time 1953 rolled around, he had partnered up resulting in a walk up root beer stand named Top
Hat. The operation brought in astonishing sales resulting in more expansion (Blackburn). The
insight of a speaker system for vehicles was then implemented at the drive ins. After the
installation of a speaker system, sales had nearly tripled. It wasn t until 1959 that the name of Top

main difference is the state of mind upon reporting an incident. This can either be a belief or

Consisting of 44 years of violence and civil unrest from 1947 to 1991, the Cold War was a huge
turning point in history. The Cold War however was a war of avoidance, not combat. Defence
systems were heavily funded as deterrence to actual war, the belief being a risk of mutual
annihilation would be too great to be the side to make the first move. However, the Cold Warcaused
a large variety of conflict and civil unrest around the world, such as the Korean War, Vietnam War

Many Americans believed that the war ravaged country of Vietnam, had to be resurrected from

Made of terracotta, this statue was easily over six feet tall and it represented a male actor
impersonating a female character. The actor in question was wearing a floor length short

along the entire dress brings a feminine touch to the overall image. Another factor adding a
feminine touch was the detailed hair updo. Both of these soft and delicate features contrast
greatly with the face of the character. Unlike the rest of the features, the character s face is
harsh. This had to do with the mask that the actor is wearing. With his eyes and mouth wide
open, he is projecting strong emotions. During that time period, since men were the only ones
allowed to participate in theatrical plays, they were required to wear masks to present a
character. This sculpture expresses the importance of activities and shows how far people were

The Central Nervous System For Spinal Cord Injuries
Introduction:
The central nervous system is what connects the brain to the muscles of the body. When a patient
has an injury to the spinal cord, movements in certain parts of the body will be affected based on
the location of the injury. If the injury affects hand motion then many day to day tasks are affected.
This literature review seeks to understand how an injury to the spinal cord impacts movement, and
what has been done so far to help those affected by spinal cord injuries.
Methods:
The information in this literature review was collected from an expert interview and the search
databases Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar. The expert for the expert interview was
selected based on experience with designing prosthetics for individuals that had lost their hand and
potentially part of their arm (Birdwell, 2016). The databases were searched using keywords spinal
cord injury , hand movement , and fine motor movement . In PubMed the selection was also
narrowed down by selecting only studies done on humans. New terminology was searched through
science direct due to the built in function that allows for key words from the article to be selected
for further information from multiple books or journals.
Results:

An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge and The Necklace
People always like to impute all the misfortunes they have been through to their unfair destinies.
However, most of the occurrences happen in the human society is not random, and every
consequence must have a corresponding reason. Sometimes, the motive of one s action is hard to
find because it may be psychogenic reasons that hide deep in one s mind. Sigmund Freud comes
up the idea that human beings are motivated, even driven, by desires, fears, needs, and conflicts of
which they are unaware (Tyson 14 15). In most of the literature works, narrators unconscious egos
like desires and believes are often the most important factors to affect their behaviors and cause the
consequential narrative events happen. Both of protagonists in the articles, Peyton Farquhar in
Ambrose Bierce s An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridgeand Madame Loisel in Guy de Maupassant s
The Necklace, are struggled with their identities, and suffered from the delusions caused by their
egos, which lead themselves to make the irretrievable mistakes, and finally, they fall to the fantasies
again to defend the consequences caused by their mistakes.
Both of the protagonists are not satisfied with their current identities, their desires blind their
minds, and make them easily fall into unrealistic delusions. In the An Occurrence at Owl Creek
Bridge, in order to create suspense, Bierce does not mention the narrator s identity until Part II. He
describes Peyton Farquhar as a well to do planter; Farquhar s

Group Composition Group composition, structure, and technology can decisively shape individual,
group, and organizational outcome (Harrison, 1999). For example, teams that are more
heterogeneous on factors such as social background, education, and occupation are often more
creative than more homogenous groups but can be less cohesive and satisfying to participants
(Milliken and Martins, 1996).

Burnout Or Compassion Fatigue
Vicarious trauma is also known as compassion fatigue and is often associated with the cost of
caring for others (Figley, 1982). Other terms used to describe this phenomenon are secondary
trauma, stress or secondary victimization (figley, 1982). At the heart of this issue, is that social
workers, therapists, first responders, volunteers, that work with trauma victims/survivors can
experience vicarious trauma, or compassion fatiguebecause of the work they do, and love.
Compassion fatigue is the emotional residue from the exposure of hearing trauma stories over and
over until your heart and head is full until the caller/client s trauma becomes your experience too.
You cannot hear story after story and remain unaffected. As your callers/clients experience a daily
repetition of trauma, so will you .Being a witness to pain, loss, fear, terror or injustice that the
caller/client is living through and has to endure will eventually effect all of us.... Show more content

The day comes and you think you cannot hear one more story of trauma. This is not a sign of
burnout but of compassion fatigue. It s a signal to you that it is time to step back and do self
care. Burnout and compassion fatigue are often confused as the same thing. The difference
between them is that burnout builds up gradually over time and resolves itself when the volunteer
or practitioner takes a break or goes to other work, even in the same field. Vicarious trauma or
compassion fatigue is a state of tension, stress and preoccupation with the stories and traumatic
experiences described and endured by callers/clients. Triggering your own potential traumas or
experiences and looping back and forth between your callers/clients stories and your own until
there is no objective place to witness

Workplace Bullying
Introduction This essay will use Paul Elder (2008) as a guide to give Joseph Jerdee feedback on
his research plan. It will review clarity, accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, breadth, logic,
significance and the fairness of the research plan.
Clarity
Joseph, the essay clearly states what the research intends to accomplish. Further, it gives good
foundational information on what workplace bullying means and demonstrates that it affects both
males and females.
Accuracy
The claims that are made in the essay about the types of bullying are supported by scholarly
evidence. Add to this, you do a good job highlighting the different types of bullying that may exist
in organizations. This is a big call out as many people may not even be aware ... Show more content

There may be ideas and best practices that may be found as a result of this study that will help to
further efforts to minimize workplace bullying.
Fairness
The research appears to be fair in the approach as it will be done through a questionnaire. There
appears to be a large enough group to gather information. However, is the group diverse enough as
the questionnaire is only being administered to one organization?
Conclusion
In this essay, I used Paul Elder (2008) as a guide to give Joseph Jerdee feedback on his research
plan. It reviewed clarity, accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, breadth, logic, significance and the
fairness of the research

  • 2. Tompkins Conservation Deforestation, pollution, poaching, and soil abuse are just four of the innumerable factors that lead to deleterious effects on the environment. With more and more trees falling under the determined chainsaws and axe blows of illegal loggers and soil loss from tenuous irrigation methods, South American governments have a rising concern to protect its ecosystem. But an unusual, and equally controversial, solution came not within the restraining bounds of the country borders, but from the efforts of the American multi millionaire and philanthropic conservationist, Douglas Tompkins. Concerned about the ecology of South America, Tompkins purchased sumptuous strips of forest land to shield it from the venomous ways of poachers and illegal loggers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The best solution to this imminent conflict would be for Tompkins to expropriate a sizeable chunk of his land to national conservatories to ensure the public had sufficient access to public road, ancestral grounds, and water and mineral rights. However, he should also maintain a steadfast determination to keep most of his land as long as necessary to ensure it has recovered from past human interactions and see it delivered safely into the hands of Argentine conservatories. As a whole, his campaign to conserve the environment has been successful and beneficial both to him and the ecosystem. In culmination, Tompkins, as a conservational philanthropist, has inaugurated his conservational efforts to accumulate a sizeable portion of foreign nations. Due to lawmakers and local residents rising concern of his control of natural resources and his property blocking public transportation routes, he must devise a solution that will satisfy both conservational and public demands. Thus, the most effective and equitable solution would be to sequester most of his land to local conservation efforts, so as to ensure the government had adequate control over its natural resources and access to ancestral ... • 3. Descriptive Essay About Anime Essay It was a hot Friday afternoon around mid July. While most girls would be sunbathing at the beach or shopping with friends, you were at your favorite place: the book store. Specifically, the manga section. Ever since you were introduced to your first anime, you had been hooked on the genre: the art style, the music, the storylines. That was probably one of the reasons you decided to spend a summer in Japan of all places. However, there may have been another reason you were drawn to Japan. The day you arrived, you had been walking to the cheap hotel you would call home for the next three months, when a group of high school boys ran into you. You immediately lost control of the suitcase, tripping off the curb and spraining your ankle. You... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then a bright smile graced his face. So, did you know that Rohan Kishibe actually lives in Morioh? You paused. Should you pretend like you knew what he was talking about? That generally got you into trouble so... What? Koichi was dragging you out of the store. What the helm had you gotten yourself into? Guido Mista Why was it that people always asked what do you want to be when you grow up? How were you supposed to know. Even if you knew with all your heart you wanted to be a marine biologist, one day you might wake up and decide that playing the tuba was your passion. All in all, you just liked to take things as they came. And that was why you were here. Why not take a trip to Italy? Maybe you d like learning a new language, maybe you d become a renaissance art historian. It was just something new to explore, and your parents even agreed to fund it (because, this was a purely educational trip, of course). You were stopping at a small cafГ© for a (very educational) coffee and a bite to eat. As you sat down at the outside table, hanging your purse on the back of your seat, you two oddly dressed men accompanied by a young woman at the table next to you. Slowly ... • 4. Federal Government Regulatory Agencies Question #1: The government in its duties and responsibilities to its citizen sometimes needs to regulate the behaviors and actions of private citizens or corporation for the common good. Most of the time regulations are designed by statute but the enforcement of the statues are carried out by regulatory agencies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Election commission (FEC). Regulatory agencies don t just exist at the federal level either, Federal regulatory agencies like the FDA and FEC carry out federally mandated regulations passed down from Congress of the executive branch but the same principle applies at the Stateand Local levels as well who have regulations passed down from their individual statehouses and governor s... Each of these levels has their own legitimacy, their own authority/jurisdiction and most of the time has their own way wo working with or around the other levels though there is sometimes clashes. Let s start with Legitimacy first. The Constitution of the United States of America is the overarching document that gives legitimacy and the authority to govern to the various governments in the U.S, but specifically the Federal government. States in the United States also have their own constitutions that they draw legitimacy and authority from as well as specific regulations. The Constitution also act a the framework for what the different levels of government are authorized to do, thought the 14th amendment opened the floodgates on authority for the Federal government. But in a generalized sense, The federal government acts mostly in the areas of foreign policy, national defense and any endeavors that cross state jurisdictions in the U.S, particularly interstate commerce. State governments focus mostly on directly providing for and regulating goods and services within their state, along with distributing federal grant money and transferring money to local services. Local governments almost exclusively provide goods and services within their jurisdiction and utilize funds from both the federal and state levels. She didn t truly understand her husband or the pressures he was under and it was her security in her delusion that failed her, not Torvald s failure to meet some fantasized expectation that she had of him. She was surprised by her husband s reaction because she didn t understand the pressures he was faced with as a man of that time. Her failure to take responsibility and communicate her error as well as her attempts to hide it from him, like a child who s broken something, had robbed him of any chance to intervene and Torvald was right to be upset with her. Since the P Cars focus more on procedures rather than personnel, we will focus our alternatives mainly on procedural aspects as P Cars were the most successful. Alternative 2: Another alternative is to have an IT system that is integrated into the billing system. It can have several advantages and resolve key issues effecting billing accuracy and timeliness. An important flaw that an IT system will help address is efficiency in the billing process. Currently, billing work can only be submitted once a week and reports take too long to download onto a PM s computer. With an integrated system, bill processing time is reduced through automation. • 9. The Beliefs Of Faith In Martin Luther s The Freedom Of God When you hear the word faith, what comes to your mind? Do you think of religion, purpose, or your belief in something? What is faith? Is it a feeling, a thought, or a concept? As Martin Luther said in his book Freedom of a Christian, faith is God s work in us, that changes us and gives new birth from God. When one thinks of faith, they maybe think about their personal relationship with God and the unconditional love He has. He who through faith is righteous shall live. The Word of God cannot be interpreted by any works but only by faith. Martin Luther had stated that, It is clear that, as the soul needs only the Word of God for its life and righteousness, so it is justified by faith alone and not any works. (Janz, A Reformation Reader, pg 109) There are three powers or virtues of faith that Martin Luther describes. Firstly, justification through faith alone, which means we are free from the law and works as regards our justification and salvation. Secondly, unity of man and Christ like bride to bridegroom which means faith unites the soul to Christ, and lastly, the ability to ascribe to [God] truthfulness, righteousness, and whatever else should be ascribed to one who is trusted. The people saw war as a constant and therefore were actively looking for means to escape this reality. • 18. Cohabitation By Andrew J. Postag81v1 s Article From 2004,... Over the past few decades, cohabitation has become more recent for couples and families. Cohabitation is when a couple who is not married is living under the same roof as if they are married. It does not refer to roommates or family members who live together, at least two people have to be in a romantic union for it to count as cohabitation. Cohabiting can be for a variety of different reasons. In the 1990s, around 2.5 million people were cohabiting but as of 2015 about 8.3 million people were cohabiting. (Cherlin 2004) Pamela Smock (2000) argues that cohabitation has increased tremendously over the past but it is short lived by couples either breaking the relationship off or proceeding to get married. Andrew J. Cherlin s article from 2004, The Deinstitutionalization of American Marriage, argues that marriage is becoming deinstitutionalized while cohabitation is becoming institutionalized. More couples are starting to realize that they do not need a piece of paper to signify their love or compassion for one another. If they are happy living together unmarried than they should not need to get married, which is why cohabiting is becoming more prominent. The first transition, noted by Ernest Burgess, was from the institutional marriage to the companionate marriage. The second transition was to the individualized marriage in which the emphasis on personal choice and self development expanded. • 24. Evidence Based Practices For Homeless Sexual Minority Youth Running Head: EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICES FOR HOMELESS SEXUAL MINORITY YOUTH Evidence Based Practices for Homeless Sexual Minority Youth Kerri Dunn Bales and Mary Ann Callaway University of Oklahoma Abstract: SMY (sexual minority youth, which refers within this paper to youth who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or queer) are at risk for trauma in particularly high numbers. When SMY become homeless, their risk for exposure to trauma becomes even higher, presenting the helping professions with a population that faces unique problems in clinical settings that may seek to treat homelessness without considering minority stress and repeated exposure to trauma. We reviewed literature concerned with trauma, homelessness and SMY issues to determine which EBPs (evidence based practices) have been deemed most helpful for this population and found very few. Our investigation into local resources available to homeless SMY was similarly discouraging. Since previous trauma and marginalized sexual orientation are the primary factors for continued risk, we can suggest that Trauma Informed Care and Gay Affirmative Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are currently our best choices. This paper will seek to explore why. Description of the Problem: When discussing homeless SMY, we should remember that we are looking at the intersection of two populations whose risk factors for trauma are already elevated. To better understand these risks we looked at three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first element was a circular disc made of bronze and attached to it was the satyr. On the border of the disc laid meticulous designs that closely resembled leaves. Another factor adding a feminine touch was the detailed hair updo. Both of these soft and delicate features contrast greatly with the face of the character. Unlike the rest of the features, the character s face is harsh. This had to do with the mask that the actor is wearing. With his eyes and mouth wide open, he is projecting strong emotions. During that time period, since men were the only ones allowed to participate in theatrical plays, they were required to wear masks to present a character. This sculpture expresses the importance of activities and shows how far people were willing to push boundaries just for the sake of entertainment. When a patient has an injury to the spinal cord, movements in certain parts of the body will be affected based on the location of the injury. If the injury affects hand motion then many day to day tasks are affected. This literature review seeks to understand how an injury to the spinal cord impacts movement, and what has been done so far to help those affected by spinal cord injuries. Methods: The information in this literature review was collected from an expert interview and the search databases Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar. The expert for the expert interview was selected based on experience with designing prosthetics for individuals that had lost their hand and potentially part of their arm (Birdwell, 2016). The databases were searched using keywords spinal cord injury , hand movement , and fine motor movement . In PubMed the selection was also narrowed down by selecting only studies done on humans. New terminology was searched through science direct due to the built in function that allows for key words from the article to be selected for further information from multiple books or journals. Results: How a healthy body transmits signals: Precision hand motions are controlled by the motor cortex (M1) and the corticospinal system. (Perez, 2015). However, most of the occurrences happen in the human society is not random, and every consequence must have a corresponding reason. Sometimes, the motive of one s action is hard to find because it may be psychogenic reasons that hide deep in one s mind. Sigmund Freud comes up the idea that human beings are motivated, even driven, by desires, fears, needs, and conflicts of which they are unaware (Tyson 14 15). In most of the literature works, narrators unconscious egos like desires and believes are often the most important factors to affect their behaviors and cause the consequential narrative events happen. Both of protagonists in the articles, Peyton Farquhar in Ambrose Bierce s An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridgeand Madame Loisel in Guy de Maupassant s The Necklace, are struggled with their identities, and suffered from the delusions caused by their egos, which lead themselves to make the irretrievable mistakes, and finally, they fall to the fantasies again to defend the consequences caused by their mistakes. Both of the protagonists are not satisfied with their current identities, their desires blind their minds, and make them easily fall into unrealistic delusions.
