Applied Meteorology Personal Statement
The opportunity to do research and study meteorology at the graduate level is important to
enhance my knowledge for the subject and achieve my career goals. By attending graduate school
at Plymouth State University I can become an expertise in my field of study, become involved in
various research opportunities, and open up a broader range of job opportunities for my future.
These goals will help me strive to be my very best and contribute my abilities to the Applied
Meteorology program at Plymouth State University. I am applying to the graduate program at
Plymouth State University to pursue my passion for meteorology and to become involved with
their many research opportunities. I enjoy doing research because I am able to use the information

During my research, I installed a greenhouse gas analyzer to a weather tower to determine local
sources of methane and carbon dioxide. I used data from this instrument and other instruments
such as a sonic anemometer to find results from the experiment. During the data analysis process
I became more experienced with Python and Microsoft Excel by formulating plots and graphics.
I was able to overcome many challenges by asking my advisors and peers for help. The help my
advisors and peers provided throughout my research was a key to the success in my research.
The overall success from my research allowed me to present my work at Washington State
University s 2016 research poster symposium and the 2017 AMS Student Conference Poster
Session. At these poster sessions I gained valuable experience on how to properly inform my
audiences about my research and my final

Inhumanity Of Torture
Inhumanity of TortureI struggled without success to breathe I thought I was going to die. I lost
control of my urine. (Abu Zubaydah) Many detainees are faced with acts of torture in order to
obtain information. The detainees are deprived of their dignities, beaten with approved methods of
physical contact, and threatened. Torture isn t justified by any means. It affects people physically
and mentally, it s inhumane, and against the 8th Amendment. Torture isn t justified because it
affects people mentally and physically. Often detainees fears are used against them. The use of
insects inside the box was also approved to exploit a phobia Abu Zubaydah had (Laughland, 2015)

The Eighth Amendment states, excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed,
nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Although it s unclear on how to measure the cruelty
on a punishment, many torture methods are undoubtedly, cruel and unusual. For example, rectal
feeding and rehydration. According to a CIA cable released in the report, his lunch tray consisting
of hummus, pasta with sauce, nuts and raisins was pureed and rectally infused . (Olivia
Laughland) Detainees, Majid Khan and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, were both subjected to rectal
feeding. Mohammed was also subjected to rectal rehydration without any medical purpose. The
definition of cruel is to willfully cause pain or suffering to others, and the definition of unusual is
not commonly occurring or done. With that being said, those acts of torture are unquestionably,
considered cruel and unusual being they both are causing pain in an uncommon way as a form of
punishment. On the other hand, some believe torture is justified. They may argue that it s
important to do whatever it takes to get the information needed, or to save the lives of others. It
could also be viewed as justice for the crimes that have been committed. An argument some have is
that the ends justify the means. The end does not justify the means. It s about being the better
person and having everyone feel safe and secure in a place where

Oil Drilling Endangers Arctic National Wildlife Riches
Oil Drilling Endangers Arctic National Wildlife Riches Can you imagine the grocery stores and
restaurants in your neighborhood disappearing bit by bit? The oil drilling in North Slope
Borough, Alaska, has affected 95,000 square miles of wildlife s habitat. The development of oil
industry takes away what is essential to the lives of the Gwich in: the Caribou. Gwich in villages
rely on caribou to supply their food and clothes. As the oil industry develops in a close proximity
to the Gwich in village, caribou do not go near the area anymore. The villagers can hardly find any
caribou now. In her book Silent Spring, Rachel Carson questions how powerful agents, like the oil
industry, can have such a devastating impact on others: [t]he decision is that of the authoritarian
temporarily entrusted with power; he has made it during a moment of inattention by millions to
whom beauty and the ordered world of nature still have a meaning that is deep and imperative
(Carson, 376). We human beings carry the responsibility of ensuring harmony amongst the living
organisms inhabiting all of this planet. We need to ensure that our ecosystem is protected. In order
to prevent further damage to habitats and extinction of species, we should stop developing oil drill
in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge(ANWR) in Alaska.
We know that the oil in Alaska is valuable. Yet, their development and drilling only benefit a small
group of people in society. In A First American Views His Land, N. Scott

Essay about Pop Art’s Response to Mass Consumerism
Part One: Introduction to Pop Art The Pop Art movement uses elements of popular culture, such as
magazines, movies, ... and even [brand name] bottles and cans to convey a message about the artist
s views on society. Using bold coloured paintings, soft sculptures, and printmaking, artists would
create facsimiles, similar reproductions of popular merchandise and collages. The purpose was to
emphasize the banality of any given mass culture. This was a response the post war conservative
society which focused on consumerism and the consumption of name brand products. The
American economy had significantly risen for the first time in 30 years which lead to the mass
consumption of goods and conformity of the majority. Acrylic paint was first... Show more content

Arguably one of his most famous pieces of art, Whamm! displays this method of painting. Those
methods make the panels look different from the original panels but remarkably similar at the same
time. By designing his subjects the way the mass media portrayed them, rather than attempting to
accurately reproduce the subject Lichtenstein helped define the Pop Art movement. David
Hockney was an English artist who worked in Los Angeles. Hockney was well trained in many
different studios, including lithography, painting and photocollage. Hockney experimented with
all sorts of ideas, including an entire painting in mainly warm colours and done in reverse
perspective. A lot of his older work also dealt with issues that were previously shunned by most of
society and made slight references to his homosexuality. However, it is the fact that his painting
Typhoo Tea was one of the first to incorporate a brand named product, which shows Hockney
helped inspire the movement to become as large as it became globally. Andy Warholis probably the
most infamous artists to emerge from this time period. Not only was Warhol a painter, he was also
a commercial illustrator, avant garde filmmaker, record producer, and author. His affection for
consumerism and pop culture led him to create pieces of controversial art that is still popular today.

A Synthesis and Response of Two Articles Concerning...
Modern concerns about global warming have rekindled ideas about nuclear power in the United
States but one concern still remains: what is to be done with the waste? Right now most spent
nuclear fuel is stored in large casks at the plants where it was used with plans in the works for a
common location to store the waste for long periods of time. Long term storage is not the only
option, technology exists to take this spent nuclear fueland remove the unused plutoniumand
uranium from the waste products to create more fuel. The remaining waste would be stored in a
long term facility as discussed above. This process is highly controversial due to economic and
safety concerns, but could increase the capacity of a long term storage facility.... Show more content

Bastin also acknowledges the potential for large amounts of plutonium to fall into the wrong
hands, but asserts that if a reprocessing plant is well managed, unlike plants of the past, the
security of the nuclear material is not a difficult issue to control. On the subject of exposure,
Bastin uses the example of the first reprocessing plant built for the United States government by
DuPont. This design was built to contain all reprocessing equipment and materials in order to
limit radiation exposure to employees. The main disagreement between the two authors lies in
the economics of the reprocessing of spent fuel. In his article, Bastin discusses a reprocessing
facility that would have been built in the early 1980s by DuPont that was based on the initial
success of the pilot plant built for the U.S. Government. Using the outline of these successes,
Bastin estimates that the cost of reprocessing at such a plant would cost $250 per kilogram of
waste, as opposed to $1,000 per kilogram at French and British plants or even the $5,000 to
$15,000 per kilogram at similar Japanese facilities. Bastin claims that the foreign reprocessing
plants did not implement the ideas of DuPont s original plant in their design which would have
significantly lowered the cost of reprocessing. The biggest economic cost, according to Bastin,
comes from not reprocessing fuel, mainly because the reprocessing of fuel allows for waste to
remain radioactive for a shorter period

Female Scientists In The 1800 s Essay
During the 1800 s, there were not a lot of female scientists. Marie Curie became the first woman
to receive a nobel prize, and also the first to receive two of them. She was a Polish French
physicist and chemist who discovered two elements and was famous for her work with
radioactivity. She got her love of science from her father, a physics and mathematics teacher. She
moved to Paris to further her education and there met her future husband, Pierre Curie, and took his
place at Sorbonne when he passed away as the first women to hold that position. Those were not
the only thing she accomplished as a female scientist in the 1800 s. Marie paved the way for many

When Henri Becquerel discovered radioactivity in 1896, it inspired Marie and Pierre to investigate
it further. They researched a lot of substances for any signs of radioactivity, and discovered
something that was more radioactive than uranium. They discovered radium, an element that
damaged tissue, so they used that to fight against cancer. They found that the mineral pitchblende
was more radioactive than uranium and concluded that it must contain other radioactive
substances. From it they managed to extract two previously unknown elements, polonium and
radium, both more radioactive than uranium (Nobel Media). These discoveries led to radium
being used to treat cancer and other diseases, and them getting their first Nobel Prize in Physics
in 1903. After Pierre passed away, she continued with her own studies. Marie successfully
isolated radium and proved its existence. She also studied the properties and compounds of these
radioactive elements. She also documented the properties of the radioactive elements and their
compounds. Radioactive compounds became important as sources of radiation in both scientific
experiments and in the field of medicine, where they are used to treat tumors (Nobel Media).
This discovery led to the further development of X rays and her receiving her second Nobel Prize
in Chemistry in 1911. Marie Curie was the first woman ever to win two Nobel Prizes in two fields
and in multiple sciences, two incredible

What Is Male Dominance In The Yellow Wallpaper
Introduction
Charlotte Perkins Gilman is an author, but also a well known feminist who believed that
heterosexuality had become the means by which men subjected women through an economic
dependency . (feminism 1) Throughout my research there is one word that best describes the era of
a male dominated and controlled society, Patriarch! During this period of male dominance, Gilman
wrote The Yellow Wallpaperto prove a point and to get Dr. Weir Mitchell to change his ways. (3).
Gilman suffered from neurasthenic, melancholia, suicidal depression and after the birth of her
child post partum depression. Gilman was a patient of Dr. Mitchell and was prescribed the Rest
Cure , which is to rest and never write again. Gilman follows the recommended prescription for a
month but found it was weakening her intellect. The Yellow Wallpaper was written during the time
of a patriarchal society and the reader becomes witness to male dominance. The male dominance in

The Theme Of Blindness In Oedipus The King
Blindness in Oedipus The King
After reading the play it is clear that there are few different themes, though the one which will be
discussed in this essay is the theme of blindness. Blindness appears in all people; because there is
not anyone who can predict his/her future or fate, even if they have the ability to see . they tend
avoid seeing the truth or trying to understand it clearly and perfectly with a way which the fate had
choosen for them, this state can supported with a famous quote; A blind man knows he cannot see
and he that is blind in his understanding, which is the worst blindness of all, believes he sees as the
best, and scorns a guide . Throughout the story Oedipus is blind by his inability to understand that

Actually figurative blindness can be harder to deal with then literal blindness. A person who is
physically blind knows that he will probably be blind the rest of his life. He is aware of the fact
that he cannot see the visual things, he accept this condition and learns to live with that.
However, if a person is blind to a situation, there is nothing that person can do until they figure
out the truth because they are do not even have the awareness of their disability. It creates more
complex problems in real life which can not be solved easily or maybe totally can not be solved
just like it can not in the story. All of them find a way out accordingly. Oedipus learned the truth,
his way of dealing with his figurative blindness was to blind himself. When Jocasta learned the
truth, her way of dealing with her figurative blindness was to kill herself. In this play, in every
situation, blindness led to the truth, and the truh led to the blindness. Oedipus, Teiresias, and
Jocasta were all blind, yet all found the truth. Sophocles real aim was to show this contrast between
blindness and the truth but also proved that they can both turn into each

In Matthew 17, during Jesus s transfiguration, the glory of God shined upon Jesus. The reason for
the light was because powerful searchlights from a spaceship shone onto him. Jesus s death was
only to make it known that the true origin of life is from the Elohim. Jesus was resurrected by the
creators using their advanced technology. So, the Raelians have explained most of the biggest
things that happened in the Bible happened because the Creators have such advanced technology.
According to the Creators, about 22,000 years ago aliens became very advanced and sophisticated
in their technology and understandings. They created a beast that was extremely dangerous. When
it escaped from them, it attacked and killed several of their people. The aliens then decided they
needed a new planet with which to experiment in DNA manipulations. They decided that Earth
would be good to try out new things at. While experimenting, they created human beings in their
own image. They didn t tell the humans about their technical knowledge, including how to make
their life spans longer. In this Bible, this was called the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The
Creators believed that if the humans knew too much, the humans would become too smart and
dangerous. Known as the Serpent in the Bible, there were a group of alien creators who thought
that the humans should know as much as they could.

the name of Willy Loman (Miller, 1949). Willy Loman is getting older, and after another

Loman is in constant constant conflict with his sons as they each have a different take on what it

Triple Alliance And Triple Entente During World War I

determine the alliances commonly known as the Triple Alliance and Triple Entente during World

was humiliating, but did encourage the Russian Empire to focus on the Balkans, an area that would

interest in this area forced them to reassert themselves later, during the Bosnia Annexation Crisis

Naturalism is the view that there is no transcendent reality to such as God that can intervene in the
natural world. ВЁChristianity is monotheistic. Christianity claims there is a god and no one of us
is he. Witchcrafts opposite, ВЁWe are the nature of the gods and fully realized man or women is
channel divinity.ВЁ So, Christianity and Witchcraft are basically polar opposites. With that being
said, it doesn t mean either one is true nor better. It is all about your mentality and the people you

ВЁNotice that the term practice is often used with the term witchcraft. What this tells us is that, for
many, Wiccais a much as someone does as it is what someone believes.ВЁ I believe this goes for
Christianity as well. We practice praising God every week, reading the bible, and trying to live
the right way. Witchcraft is similar in that way because they practice every day to live better in

Both religions have a long history and have made it to todayВґs world, that shows you that
Christianity and Witchcraft have been used for a long time and are still being practiced. ВЁIf

A Mormon Perspective

Based upon the information gathered from Robert Millet about the Mormon perspectives on their
religion. The Mormons renounced a distant, unknowable god of the Neoplatonists God of
philosophers and worshiping a God, who possesses every divine attribute.(251 Metzger) Some of
the Mormons views of God is similar in nature to the Christianity God. Joseph Smith, who is the
founder of the Mormons, do realize God is an omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent God. He
also knows God is a Holy God, who desire to reveal himself to his people. Muck points out;

Poison Ivy Monologue
Poison Ivy
May 15, 2012 at 10:17pm
Poison Ivy by Sydney J. Tanner When I was 19, I was attending Utah State University, in Logan
Utah. I lived in a beautiful canyon in the mountains and went hiking and camping a lot. One
camping trip, being a bit naive and inexperienced I wiped with the nearest green leaf I could
find. What followed was an excruciating lesson never to be forgotten. Not being from Utah, I had
never seen or been around poison ivy before. Later that fall, I was on a committee decorating for
an autumn formal dance. I gathered interesting and colorful vines and weeds to make thirteen large
wreaths for the walls. After I hung the last wreath for the dance that evening, I realized something
dreadful. Gee, poison ivy changes color in the fall. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Berries white, run in fright. The old adage still stands. As a Wisconsin Master Gardener, I share
my embarrassing story with you for a reason. Some people still don t know what poison ivy
looks like. When I tell this story, I get to hear other people s awkward tales of adventure in the
ivy. They range from honeymoon disasters, to children playing tag in it, to beloved pets rolling
in it and then jumping into bed with their masters that evening. Poison Ivy (Taxicodendron
radicans, also called Rhus radicans) is a member of the Anacardiaceae family (Sumac/Cashew)
and is a native woody plant in Wisconsin. It is considered a noxious weed. It spreads both
vegetatively and sexually. The seeds are spread by animal feces. The plant also sends out
underground rhizomes, from which dense patches of green spring up. It flowers in late spring to
early summer. The yellow white flowers are clusters of five sepals and five petals tiny florets on a
stalk, or petiole. The greenish white to all white, lined fruit forms midsummer to mid autumn and
is technically called a drupe. Most people call it a berry. They grow to be about 6 mm wide and

Executive Summary This paper provides a broad definition of ethical behavior and Corporate

Factors Nowadays, the more appropriate question needs to be answered is no longer to what
extent should a corporation include the society in their business operation but how to do it and
use it as the river for organizational success (Epstein et al, 2006). In recent years, ethics and
social responsibility have been playing an important role in the business world including in oil
and mining industries. The pressure towards society and ethical conducts are higher than ever.
Although every oil and mining multinational corporations economic missions are acknowledged,
it is now their responsibility also to address public concerns. Oil and mining industries are known
as the subject of scrutiny and bad press related with ethics and CSR concerns (Lins Horwitz,
2007). The interest on CSR and ethics are always fore fronted to the mining and oil corporations
(Kapelus, 2009). The idea was developed since a long time ago, where multinational corporations
are demanded to provide community development packages and assistance to their host
communities (Amaewhule, 1997). Every business person, regardless their position in the hierarchy,
company geographic details or even its products and services are now facing the same challenge
which is how to define their corporation role for the society.

Compare And Contrast Classical And Classical Macroeconomics
Classical versus Keynesian Macroeconomics

(Written Assignment: Week 2)
Brief:
Compare Keynesian and classical macroeconomic thought, discussing the Keynesian explanation of
prolonged recessionary and inflationary gaps as well as the Keynesian approach to correcting these
problems.
One of the many wonders of the internet is that it is possible to directly access and easily search
the major works of David Ricardo and John Maynard Keynes, rather than just reading what later
thinkers have read into them. Doing this emphasises the point that they are not the respective
champions of classical macroeconomics and keynesian macroeconomics , engaged in a live debate

There are mass trends that act as laws, irrespective of an individual actor or a single government.
This can be seen as an analogy to physical laws. Gravity always acts to make things fall
downwards. Goods get more expensive when demand rises for scarce items. Economic man
always seek to maximise his advantages. To say that classical economists like David Ricardo
believed that governments could never have a beneficial effect on an economy would be like
saying that governments can never pick anything off the floor and put it back on a shelf. Ricardo
never said that. A full century after Ricardo, Keynes showed that governments could act to mitigate
the effects of a recession by stimulating demand. He did not claim that he could flatten the
economic cycle so that markets never expanded or

Examples Of Internal Conflict In Just Lather That s All
Internal Conflit he hesitation or decision making issue within characters mind is regarded as an
suspense. In Just Lather, That s All , the barber struggled in whether or not to kill the enemy who

murder. What do you gain by it? Nothing. Others came along and still others, and the first ones kill
the second ones and they the next ones and it goes on like this until everything is a sea of blond.
When faced cruel enemy, he should killed him. However, in the barber s view, murder is not the
way to stop violence and war. It only let the violence continue, with killing the second, third and so

Self-Reliance And Inter-Relationship In Gattaca
Self reliance versus Inter relationship
In the movie Gattaca, Vincent is very reliant on other people. He reaches his end goal by being
self reliant, but self reliance is only a part of succeeding in life. Vincent depended on many other
people like Jerome, Anton and Irene to shape him and push him into the type of person he is. Inter
relationships are a very important part of succeeding in life. He could have never got to where he
was in life if it wasn t for the help of primarily those three people. This essay will examine the Inter
relationships of Jerome, Anton, and Irene s relationship with Vincent along with self reliance and
how they differ and relate.

other, but it is more beneficial to the one than the other. The Remora fish doesn t have another fish

collectively to advance to where they want to be in life. Vincent uses Jerome to get a job at

Personal Injury Claims
Mistakes To Avoid Making When Settling A Personal Injury
Before your personal injury claim goes to trial, it is typically to attempt to settle the case outside of
court. While settling will save you from having to pay the costs associated with going to court, it s
possible that you could get a settlement that is lower than what you deserve. Avoid making these
common mistakes when settling a personal injury claim.
Making Recorded Statements To An Insurance Adjuster
There may be a time when settling your case that an insurance adjuster says they are unable to
move your claim forward without giving them a statement on the record. You should avoid doing
this, as it is just a technique that the responsible party s legal team will use to try to use ... Show

Chances are that this is not the absolute last offer you will receive, and it is just a way to pressure
you into taking it.
Settling a personal injury case involves a lot of back and forth dialogue. You can always counter
their offer with an offer of your own.
Asking For Too Much Money
While you do not want to make the mistake of asking for not enough money, be careful of asking
for too much as well. It demonstrates that you do not understand the value of the injury claim, and
may lead to being taken advantage of.
Work with a lawyer to determine an appropriate amount to ask for in your initial demand letter.
The amount that you request will be accepted or it will go down during negotiations, but chances
are it will never go higher than what you initially asked for.
Not Knowing The Extent of Your Injuries
The most difficult part of a personal injury claim is estimating the costs of your injuries in the
future. Your settlement amount will factor in additional medical costs related to your injury that
have not yet been billed. Your recovery may take longer than expected, or you can have
complications. It s important to not settle your case until you know how extensive your injuries are.
It may be tempting to settle quickly, but it could cost you money down the

Asylum Crisis Essay
Across the globe there has been a massive influx of refugees seeking refuge and help. This is in a
large part due to the extreme violence occurring in the Middle East, but it also stems from people
leaving their native countries because of poverty, religious beliefs, or other things that put them at
risk. The nations of Europe have been hit extremely hard with incoming refuges. This makes sense,
seeing how close they are to the middle east. What may be surprising is that Canadais also having
many problems arising because of the amount of refuges coming into the country. In this paper we

For each person who claims asylum in Canada, the government spends between $15,000 and
$20,000 (Forrest 2017). Considering just how many people are coming in and filing for asylum,
that is quite a substantial amount of money. Moreover, this means that money that could have
been used for other government programs to help the natural citizens is now being diverted
towards this group of people. As for terrorist attacks, this is a much smaller problem. From 2014
to 2017, there have only been 6 terrorist attacks, none of which were on a massive scale (Press
2017). What s more is that for the most part, terrorist attacks are not committed by refugees. In
fact, the odds of a person being killed by a refugee in a terrorist attack is 1 in 3.6 billion (Nichols
2017). You are more likely to be struck by lightning twice (1 in 9 million) then to be killed by a
refugee terrorist. Now the question is begin brought up about how are the refugees affecting the
unemployment rate? Well to start off let s look at Alberta. In 2017, nearly 80% of the refugees
who settled in Alberta had found employment and this isn t including the ones who started their
own businesses (Stark 2017). Now this is not the same for every province in Canada obviously, but
it does show that the refugees can be a positive influence on the economy. Adding to this, statistics

Digital forensic investigators that are exposed to images of child sexual abuse as part of their

hard for any normal person not be negatively affected by viewing these ghastly images. The next
stressor is simple overwork by the Digital forensic investigators. Many states and local
organizations struggling with much reduced budgets, forensic lab around the United States have

would really feel the enormous numbers of hours expended have been wasted. Lastly, your co

he lists in this time of panic are pullulate and cerements (253). While his overall word lists seem
to be random, certain words within them pertain to the situation or perhaps foreshadow events
that are about to occur. He conjures the word cerements, which relates to corpses, just before the
deaths of both Crake and Oryx. Pullulate links to the current spreading of disease that is

CorpSeCorps, which is a group mentioned within this passage (253). The deeper meaning behind
the name is fairly upfront: corpse corporations. Atwood is not so subtly relating even the names

Every person was shaped by something, no baby exits the womb formed with all their fears,

experiences, starting in their youth. In Toni Morrison s novel Beloved the early events in the
life of the protagonist Sethe, have a profound impact on her future. This is a common element in
all of Morrison s work, she gives voice to those usually seen as outcasts who in reality lived an
adverse childhood. What Sethe lived through in her early years of development leave her feeling

From this point on Sethe becomes obsessed with pleasing Beloved, neglecting Denver in the
process. Doing this heightens the feelings of loneliness Denver experienced from the very start of
the novel. Sethe s obsession with Beloved forces Denver out of the house, which is what Sethe
always wanted to avoid, but at this point couldn t care less about. All of these events are a chain
reaction from Sethe s pain of desiring to be the mother she lacked, and the tortures she endured
in her youth. Schoolteacher s abuse traumatized Sethe, prompting her to murder Beloved and
repress her past, both of which conceal Denver along with Sethe from the outside world. Sethe s
actions stemming from past experiences haunt her all the way to adulthood causing her to make
Denver fear leaving the house. The infanticide also encouraged others to avoid her. This sent
Denver into a cave of loneliness. Sethe told her you can t never go there. Never. Because even
though it s all over over and done with it s going to always be there waiting for you (Morrison,

Malcolm Gladwell s Theory Of The Tipping Point
Typically ranging from 100 to 400 square feet, tiny houses could easily be mistaken for a small
shed or plentiful sized walk in closet (Corson). Tiny houses are an alternative to modern housing
that can be taken on the go, similar to the transportable capabilities of an RV or mobile home. In
order to understand why tiny houses boomed in popularity since 2014, Malcolm Gladwell s theory
of the Tipping Point can be used to analyze how the movement sparked. The rise in interest of the
tiny houseis accredited to the context in which it develops, the salesmen and connectors that spread
the tiny house movement, and the many aspects that allow tiny houses to stick with their audience.

One of the three, known as the Connector, acts as a living wire who connects themselves to many
different worlds and subcultures and niches (Gladwell). In the tiny house epidemic, many
connectors in the form of bigger companies help project the tiny house lifestyle. Two different
television networks, HGTV and FYI, produced popular shows that informed the public what tiny
houses looked like and what accommodations they came with, of those being Tiny House Big
Living, Tiny House Hunters, Tiny House Nation, and Tiny House World. Each of the shows first
aired in late 2014, except for Tiny House World which came in late 2015 (Tiny House, Big living,

houses, whether the show follows contractors, people who build the house themselves, or real estate

television set to explore a growing movement that encourages finding freedom by thinking big on
living small (St. Louis Sanchez). In addition to bringing the tiny movement into the house of their
audience, the show producers also aim to be salesmen. According to Malcolm Gladwell, the
salesmen work to convince others that they need something they never knew about before
(Gladwell). These shows make money off of every episode they put out, and they do so in hopes
that the same audience will return with more numbers in order to watch their show. HGTV and FYI
produce these shows that highlight the price, process, and advantages of being apart of the
movement. Similar tactics are shown outside of the weekly television shows in community events,
such as the Tiny House Jamboree. The jamboree is an annual event in which prospective buyers,

In addition, recruitment and training could also be address. Recruitment and training ensures that

Critical Analysis Of Consider The Lobster By David Wallace
In his essay Consider the Lobster , David Wallace focuses on a long simmering debate of lobster
killing for human pleasure. This article, published in Gourmet magazine in 2004 begins with the
author participating at the annual Maine Lobster Festival, where significant controversy
surrounding morality and ethical duties are raised. The author chose to attend this venue precisely
for these issues and to raise a discussion on a topic discarded by participants and Gourmet s
audience. The article centers around human eating experience at the lobsters expense by cooking it
alive; leading to lobsters feeling debilitating pain. Whether this is true or not, this is the crux of
Wallace s intention. Rather than focus on pain receptivity between vertebrate and invertebrate
creatures, Wallace maintains a soft stance by choosing to be influenced by personal belief. By
ignoring the complex dynamics of pain receptivity in invertebrate animals, Wallace proposes
arguments bringing the issue to attention but balks by making his message appear the topic can be
delayed or neglected in pursuit of human pleasure.
Consider the Lobster brings readers to attention by raising the topic, that is often deliberately
neglected by many of Gourmant s audience during meals associated with lobster cooking. This call
to awareness is targeted to culinary aficionados both cooks, customers and researchers, to engage in
dialogue, highlighting whether it is suitable to boil a creature alive for culinary

How Did The Eucharist Enrich Our Culture
A theme that could enrich our culture today would be the meal, today we think of the Eucharist
more as something that we just do in church. Back in history Eucharist was more than just a
thing that they did to be close to God and remember what Jesus had done for us. But back in the
early church it was more of a worship service in and of itself. This could benefit many people in
the church because meals would start to mean more to the people that are in the church. That it
would not just be a time to gather and eat but to spend time in communion with people also to
worship God together serving Him in a service that has to do with actions as well as the placement
of ones soul.
This could help refine our day and age to not just see food as nutrients ... Show more content on

This could help our churches today stand out in this society were the people are very individualistic
and this could help the society come closer to being more of a community culture. This is important
to keep Eucharist in our churches but it might be very undermined today because today s churches
only make it a small part of the service where in the early church it was a very big part of the
service.
All together this could be something very difficult to install in our churches today but could be
something that might change not just the thought process of a church but could change the all of
society. Because if one starts to change the thought process of a few then sooner or later they will
continue to change the though processes of others and soon all of society. This could help our
society start to care for the poor, widowed and orphaned because this meal includes these people in
the partaking of this

Villains In The Crucible
There is always conflict in a story. Without a villain, there is no reason for a character to change
or develop. Some examples of villains are Darth Vader from Star Wars, Lord Voldemort from
Harry Potter, and The Joker. These are commonly known villains from movies and books. They
play an important role in the plot, each with unique stories and actions. To start with, one
popular villain would be Darth Vader. He is a villain in the Star Wars series and is also known as
Anakin Skywalker. Initially a Jedi, a member of the Jedi Order who uses the power of the light
side of the Force for peace, he is thought to bring balance to the Force. But, Anakin falls towards
the dark side of the Force and says From my point of view the Jedi are evil (Lucas, McCallum).

Voting Rights For Ex Felons
Voting rights for ex felons It s said to be believed that ex felons never seem to have a change in
their life after being released from prison, but the reality is that many ex felons have a drastic
change in their lives after being released from prison. One major concern though that many ex
felons have is that even if they change for the better many are still not having many of their rights
restituted and one being their votingrights. According to a website called Newsmax more than 2
million African Americans, or close to 8 percent of black adults, aren t able to vote because of
felony convictions compared to just under 2 percent of non African Americans. (Voting Rights: 6
Reasons Ex Felons Should Vote, 2015) Having more than 2 million African Americans not vote
then causes there to be a major gap of ethnicities being represented on ElectionDay and to have
many laws that will have a big impact on them to be voted into place. That s why many ex felons
should have their voting rights restituted because it wouldn t only be African Americans not
represented but many poor citizens would also not be represented on Election Day. This is why I
m proposing a solution that would allow more ex felons to gain their voting rights much faster and
with less hassle. This issue of allowing many ex felons to have their voting rights restituted should
be on peoples mind because without their vote the rich would keep running this country. This issue
has been effecting many ex felons that

Essay On The Trend Of Technology In Business
Running head: TECHNOLOGY
The Trend of Technology in Business and Everyday Life
Khristina Bell
Bethel University
The trend of technology is continuing to rise as the economy continues to change. Some aspects of
society and our individual lives are also influenced by technology in many direct and indirect ways,
including governance, entertainment, human relationships, and our views on morality, mind, matter
and our own human nature (Patil, 2017). All of the aspects listed play a huge role in the trend of
technology changing as society does.

Several employees have complained about their computers freezing, systems running slow and in
some cases even shutting down. Information technology is an essential tool for the average
information professional today, and ongoing research is needed to assess technological directions
of the field over a period of time. The most popular technologies are email, office productivity
tools, web browsers, library catalogs, database searching tools, and printers (Maceli Burke,
2016). The problem at Adams Keegan is the amount of advanced technology that we have
compared to the amount of clients we provide services to. All of the technology features listed
are all a part of what is used on a daily basis. Not having access to certain technology during
certain times of the day can sometimes hinder what the staff is trying to accomplish. For example,
there are only a certain amount of scanners located in our department. Clients can request that
documents be scanned to them at any given moment. If a person in payroll for example is
scanning checks it can take a while to be able to use the scanner and get back to your client in time.
An obvious benefit to technology in businesses is increased productivity, other benefits that can
help are improved speed, the ease of sharing and storing information and a decrease in human error
through automation add up to a reduction in costs

Solomon Northup, An African American Slave
Slavery was ongoing for many years, which ruined many people s lives. White people believed that
African Americans were inferior. The slaves were forced into labor, punished, and treated poorly.
Slaves involvement took away the most important thing in human life, freedom. During this time
there were many influential slaves. Solomon Northup, an African American slave who was
kidnapped and sold into slaverywas one of them. He is one of the world s most important historical
figures. Solomon is known world wide for the movie and book based on his biography, 12 Years a
Slave. By publishing the unbearable aspects of his life in captivity as a slave, Northup brought to
light the sadism of American slavery. He raised awareness in audiences, and brought national
attention to the injustices.
Solomon Northup was born in July 1808, in Minerva, New York. Northup grew up as an
educated and literate free African American. He lived a contented life working as a famer and a
violinist for his wife and three kids. He was the kind man who was not racist. He worked with
white people and treated them without any discrimination. In 1841, Northup was given the
opportunity to work as a high paid musician in the circus by two white men. Solomon agreed to
the offer and was taken out by the two men to celebrate. While they were celebrating in
Washington DC, the two men drugged and kidnapped Solomon. Once Solomon awoke, hours or
days later, he was stripped, shackled, and whipped. He was

All Quiet on the Western Front
All Quiet on the Western Front A Book Review
Professor s Comments: This is a good example of a book review typically required in history
classes. It is unbiased and thoughtful. The Student explains the book and the time in which it was
written in great detail, without retelling the entire story... a pitfall that many first time reviewers
may experience. All Quiet on the WesternFront is the story of Paul Baumer s service as a soldier in
the German army during World War I
. Paul and his classmates enlist together, share experiences
together, grow together, share disillusionment over the loss of their youth, and the friends even
experience the horrors of death together. Though the book is a novel, it gives the reader ... Show

The story is as relevant today as it was when published in 1929 because it is the story of more
than war; it is the story of humanity. The book begins with the death of Paul s friend. The men
have, by this time, become almost desensitized to death. Kemmerich (the dying friend) owns a
fine pair of English airman s boots. It is a forgone conclusion that Kemmerich will no longer
require them. It is not petty greed, but pragmatism, which drives Muller s desire to have the
boots. The troops own equipment is ragged and worn, making anything in serviceable condition
an improvement on what they have. As we find out in the story, not only are the soldiers boots
worn out, but the artillery of the German army is also worn out. This may symbolize that not
only are the soldiers and equipment at the front worn out, but so is Germany as a whole. Germany
was worn out and had no idea what was going to happen, just as the soldiers had no idea where the
artillery shells would land.
Paul reminisces about his days in school and how he and his friends believed the indoctrination
they had received from their schoolmaster. However, after experiencing war, Paul questions the
fervent nationalism of the Germans. What has nationalism done for Germany other than destroy
the country? In blindly following the words of his elders, Paul has achieved nothing except to
become an old man at the age of twenty. Not only does Paul now question his schoolmaster s
reasoning, but he also

Mainstrea Mainstream Media Analysis
Both professional and citizen journalist are vitally important to keeping the public apprised as to
significant happening across the globe. The advantage the citizen journalist has to report
instantaneously is invaluable. However, there simply are not enough professional journalist
available to be everywhere, at all times. The ability to inform the public, anytime, anyplace, is
priceless. The blogger skips the arduous process of the editor, the producer and the scheduled time
slot on the local television channel. Professional journalist are limited by neutrality. They report on
the opinions of others or current events, whereas the citizen journalist may steer the events or
opinions. Both are motivated by the opportunity to expose the truth, however where the
professional often searches for the truth, the truth simply finds the citizen journalist. The
independent citizen journalist, like the professional, risk being incarcerated or worse, by exposing
the truth. A price both are willing to pay. They should find a way to enhance each other by working

of propaganda by local authorities, in the name of national security. Point in case, Nazi propaganda

the government controls media. Citizen journalist on the other hand, present all sides of the truth.
The good, the bad and the ugly. Because of this, arrests of citizen journalists are on the rise. Nations
are combatting free internet expression under the guise of being a threat to national unity. Citizen
journalism must expand throughout the globe to ensure that truth prevail and that human rights are

In 1997, many companies in Malaysia were struggling to survive due to the economic downturn in

used by various companies so as to buy time to restructure their finances and to get protection from

the protection given under the Section 176 of the Companies Act 1965 was abused and exploited

Native Americans After Reconstruction
Option 2 There were three important people that had very different views on how to reconstruct
the Union. Reconstruction was, according to The Americans by McDougal Littell, the period
during which the United States began to rebuild after the Civil War (Page 376). It started in 1865
and ended in 1877. The views on how Reconstruction should happen were very different for each of
these people: Abraham Lincoln, the Radical Republicans, and Andrew Johnson. Abraham Lincoln
had very unique views and ideas on how Reconstruction should be planned. He wanted to make the
South s return to the Union as quick and easy as possible (McDougal Littell, 2005, page 377). He
also came up with the Ten Percent Plan, which meant that the government... Show more content on

The Indians were ridiculed and manipulated because of many different bills passed in the 1800 s
and their land was decreasing in size and amount of food sources and land. The effects of the
Indian Removal Act, Westward expansion, and the Dawes Act on the Native Americans in the
1800 s were abundant. The Indian Removal Act was a bill signed by President Andrew. This act
enabled the president to give grants for unsettled land west of the Mississippi river, in exchange
for Indian lands within existing state border ( Primary Documents in American History. Library of
Congress, 2015). So, the Indian tribes were forcibly taking form their homes and moved to the
west, because of this act. Westward expansion effected the Native Americans because the Indians
lived in these areas. First, the pioneers started to kill the bison, the Indian s main food source,
which lessened the amount of bison in the area causing hunger in Native American tribes ( Buffalo
Hunters in the Old West. Buffalo Hunters in the Old West, 2015). Next, they moved into the Native
s lands to build houses and farms. Searching for gold was another problem, because the gold miners
would search in their sacred hills, disturbing peace between the two. ( America Indians and Western

Some Keep The Sabbath Going To Church, By Emily Dickinson
In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to church there are many interpretations of the message
Emily Dickson sends out. According to the poem I keep it staying at home (line 2). There are
various meanings of this quote whether it is a deceiver of something or a statement of the truth.
Everyone can take something different from the poems of Emily Dickson and turn into something
that reflects on their life. She was truly a master writingher poems, but was it just poems or a
message. Her poems are reflections of her life experiences and so many people can relate to
these poems. It is proven in some literature authors tend to write about past life experiences that
have made their mark. Authors in a sense make aware of these life lessons for the youth so they
do not make the same mistakes the author once did. However, not all life lessons are necessarily
bad. Emily Dickson is a writer of true passion that leaves her signature on history through her

she writes I keep it staying home (line 2). Emily tells her readers that the Sabbath should be a day
to relax and not a day of hard working. On the other hand, there is another viewpoint on this certain

Bully In Tangerine By Edward Bloor
In 2015, about one out of every four students (22%) reported being bullied during the school

his parents have been keeping this secret from him ever since so that he would not hate his
brother, but because of this secret Paul lived his life hating himself for thinking he was stupid
when it was not his fault. Erik Fisher is a grievous character because he is selfish, violent, and
finally because he is a bully. Erik is selfish because, he wants to be the center of everything, like

Even the thought of punching Tino was violent, but when he actually punched him it proved his
violence. Another act of violence is when he tells Arthur to kill Luis. When Erik says You re

s also a bully. Erik is a bully in multiple ways. One example is when he makes a joke about Joey
and says I wonder if he got his money back for those shoes. Joey had no idea what he meant but
Paul did. He s also a bully to his friends by acting all good then having his friends do all the work,
then get in trouble. It s still hard to believe that he s a bully to his brother too, he bullies him by
teaming up against him with his friends then hurting him, like when Erik and Castor blinded him
with the spray paint. Selfishness, violence, and bullying, are all reasons why Erik is an atrocious
character. If you follow Erik s path you will be in great jeopardy, but if you stay on the good side

  • 3. Inhumanity Of Torture Inhumanity of TortureI struggled without success to breathe I thought I was going to die. I lost control of my urine. (Abu Zubaydah) Many detainees are faced with acts of torture in order to obtain information. The detainees are deprived of their dignities, beaten with approved methods of physical contact, and threatened. Torture isn t justified by any means. It affects people physically and mentally, it s inhumane, and against the 8th Amendment. Torture isn t justified because it affects people mentally and physically. Often detainees fears are used against them. The use of insects inside the box was also approved to exploit a phobia Abu Zubaydah had (Laughland, 2015) Using someone s fear against them can cause a lot of mental... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Eighth Amendment states, excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Although it s unclear on how to measure the cruelty on a punishment, many torture methods are undoubtedly, cruel and unusual. For example, rectal feeding and rehydration. According to a CIA cable released in the report, his lunch tray consisting of hummus, pasta with sauce, nuts and raisins was pureed and rectally infused . (Olivia Laughland) Detainees, Majid Khan and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, were both subjected to rectal feeding. Mohammed was also subjected to rectal rehydration without any medical purpose. The definition of cruel is to willfully cause pain or suffering to others, and the definition of unusual is not commonly occurring or done. With that being said, those acts of torture are unquestionably, considered cruel and unusual being they both are causing pain in an uncommon way as a form of punishment. On the other hand, some believe torture is justified. They may argue that it s important to do whatever it takes to get the information needed, or to save the lives of others. It could also be viewed as justice for the crimes that have been committed. An argument some have is that the ends justify the means. The end does not justify the means. It s about being the better person and having everyone feel safe and secure in a place where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Oil Drilling Endangers Arctic National Wildlife Riches Oil Drilling Endangers Arctic National Wildlife Riches Can you imagine the grocery stores and restaurants in your neighborhood disappearing bit by bit? The oil drilling in North Slope Borough, Alaska, has affected 95,000 square miles of wildlife s habitat. The development of oil industry takes away what is essential to the lives of the Gwich in: the Caribou. Gwich in villages rely on caribou to supply their food and clothes. As the oil industry develops in a close proximity to the Gwich in village, caribou do not go near the area anymore. The villagers can hardly find any caribou now. In her book Silent Spring, Rachel Carson questions how powerful agents, like the oil industry, can have such a devastating impact on others: [t]he decision is that of the authoritarian temporarily entrusted with power; he has made it during a moment of inattention by millions to whom beauty and the ordered world of nature still have a meaning that is deep and imperative (Carson, 376). We human beings carry the responsibility of ensuring harmony amongst the living organisms inhabiting all of this planet. We need to ensure that our ecosystem is protected. In order to prevent further damage to habitats and extinction of species, we should stop developing oil drill in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge(ANWR) in Alaska. We know that the oil in Alaska is valuable. Yet, their development and drilling only benefit a small group of people in society. In A First American Views His Land, N. Scott ... Essay about Pop Art’s Response to Mass Consumerism Part One: Introduction to Pop Art The Pop Art movement uses elements of popular culture, such as magazines, movies, ... and even [brand name] bottles and cans to convey a message about the artist s views on society. Using bold coloured paintings, soft sculptures, and printmaking, artists would create facsimiles, similar reproductions of popular merchandise and collages. The purpose was to emphasize the banality of any given mass culture. This was a response the post war conservative society which focused on consumerism and the consumption of name brand products. The American economy had significantly risen for the first time in 30 years which lead to the mass consumption of goods and conformity of the majority. Acrylic paint was first... Those methods make the panels look different from the original panels but remarkably similar at the same time. By designing his subjects the way the mass media portrayed them, rather than attempting to accurately reproduce the subject Lichtenstein helped define the Pop Art movement. David Hockney was an English artist who worked in Los Angeles. Hockney was well trained in many different studios, including lithography, painting and photocollage. Hockney experimented with all sorts of ideas, including an entire painting in mainly warm colours and done in reverse perspective. A lot of his older work also dealt with issues that were previously shunned by most of society and made slight references to his homosexuality. However, it is the fact that his painting Typhoo Tea was one of the first to incorporate a brand named product, which shows Hockney helped inspire the movement to become as large as it became globally. Andy Warholis probably the most infamous artists to emerge from this time period. Not only was Warhol a painter, he was also a commercial illustrator, avant garde filmmaker, record producer, and author. • 8. A Synthesis and Response of Two Articles Concerning... Modern concerns about global warming have rekindled ideas about nuclear power in the United States but one concern still remains: what is to be done with the waste? Right now most spent nuclear fuel is stored in large casks at the plants where it was used with plans in the works for a common location to store the waste for long periods of time. Long term storage is not the only option, technology exists to take this spent nuclear fueland remove the unused plutoniumand uranium from the waste products to create more fuel. The remaining waste would be stored in a long term facility as discussed above. This process is highly controversial due to economic and safety concerns, but could increase the capacity of a long term storage facility.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bastin also acknowledges the potential for large amounts of plutonium to fall into the wrong hands, but asserts that if a reprocessing plant is well managed, unlike plants of the past, the security of the nuclear material is not a difficult issue to control. On the subject of exposure, Bastin uses the example of the first reprocessing plant built for the United States government by DuPont. This design was built to contain all reprocessing equipment and materials in order to limit radiation exposure to employees. The main disagreement between the two authors lies in the economics of the reprocessing of spent fuel. In his article, Bastin discusses a reprocessing facility that would have been built in the early 1980s by DuPont that was based on the initial success of the pilot plant built for the U.S. Government. Using the outline of these successes, Bastin estimates that the cost of reprocessing at such a plant would cost $250 per kilogram of waste, as opposed to $1,000 per kilogram at French and British plants or even the $5,000 to $15,000 per kilogram at similar Japanese facilities. Bastin claims that the foreign reprocessing plants did not implement the ideas of DuPont s original plant in their design which would have significantly lowered the cost of reprocessing. The biggest economic cost, according to Bastin, comes from not reprocessing fuel, mainly because the reprocessing of fuel allows for waste to remain radioactive for a shorter period ... Marie Curie became the first woman to receive a nobel prize, and also the first to receive two of them. She got her love of science from her father, a physics and mathematics teacher. She moved to Paris to further her education and there met her future husband, Pierre Curie, and took his place at Sorbonne when he passed away as the first women to hold that position. When Henri Becquerel discovered radioactivity in 1896, it inspired Marie and Pierre to investigate it further. They researched a lot of substances for any signs of radioactivity, and discovered something that was more radioactive than uranium. They discovered radium, an element that damaged tissue, so they used that to fight against cancer. They found that the mineral pitchblende was more radioactive than uranium and concluded that it must contain other radioactive substances. From it they managed to extract two previously unknown elements, polonium and radium, both more radioactive than uranium (Nobel Media). These discoveries led to radium being used to treat cancer and other diseases, and them getting their first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903. After Pierre passed away, she continued with her own studies. Marie successfully isolated radium and proved its existence. She also studied the properties and compounds of these radioactive elements. She also documented the properties of the radioactive elements and their compounds. Radioactive compounds became important as sources of radiation in both scientific experiments and in the field of medicine, where they are used to treat tumors (Nobel Media). This discovery led to the further development of X rays and her receiving her second Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911. What Is Male Dominance In The Yellow Wallpaper Introduction Charlotte Perkins Gilman is an author, but also a well known feminist who believed that heterosexuality had become the means by which men subjected women through an economic dependency . (feminism 1) Throughout my research there is one word that best describes the era of a male dominated and controlled society, Patriarch! During this period of male dominance, Gilman wrote The Yellow Wallpaperto prove a point and to get Dr. Weir Mitchell to change his ways. (3). The Theme Of Blindness In Oedipus The King Blindness in Oedipus The King After reading the play it is clear that there are few different themes, though the one which will be discussed in this essay is the theme of blindness. Blindness appears in all people; because there is not anyone who can predict his/her future or fate, even if they have the ability to see . they tend avoid seeing the truth or trying to understand it clearly and perfectly with a way which the fate had choosen for them, this state can supported with a famous quote; A blind man knows he cannot see and he that is blind in his understanding, which is the worst blindness of all, believes he sees as the best, and scorns a guide . Actually figurative blindness can be harder to deal with then literal blindness. A person who is physically blind knows that he will probably be blind the rest of his life. He is aware of the fact that he cannot see the visual things, he accept this condition and learns to live with that. However, if a person is blind to a situation, there is nothing that person can do until they figure out the truth because they are do not even have the awareness of their disability. It creates more complex problems in real life which can not be solved easily or maybe totally can not be solved just like it can not in the story. All of them find a way out accordingly. Oedipus learned the truth, his way of dealing with his figurative blindness was to blind himself. When Jocasta learned the truth, her way of dealing with her figurative blindness was to kill herself. In this play, in every situation, blindness led to the truth, and the truh led to the blindness. Oedipus, Teiresias, and Jocasta were all blind, yet all found the truth. So, the Raelians have explained most of the biggest things that happened in the Bible happened because the Creators have such advanced technology. According to the Creators, about 22,000 years ago aliens became very advanced and sophisticated in their technology and understandings. They created a beast that was extremely dangerous. When it escaped from them, it attacked and killed several of their people. The aliens then decided they needed a new planet with which to experiment in DNA manipulations. They decided that Earth would be good to try out new things at. While experimenting, they created human beings in their own image. They didn t tell the humans about their technical knowledge, including how to make their life spans longer. In this Bible, this was called the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The Creators believed that if the humans knew too much, the humans would become too smart and dangerous. This article, published in Gourmet magazine in 2004 begins with the author participating at the annual Maine Lobster Festival, where significant controversy surrounding morality and ethical duties are raised. The author chose to attend this venue precisely for these issues and to raise a discussion on a topic discarded by participants and Gourmet s audience. The article centers around human eating experience at the lobsters expense by cooking it alive; leading to lobsters feeling debilitating pain. Whether this is true or not, this is the crux of Wallace s intention. Rather than focus on pain receptivity between vertebrate and invertebrate creatures, Wallace maintains a soft stance by choosing to be influenced by personal belief. By ignoring the complex dynamics of pain receptivity in invertebrate animals, Wallace proposes arguments bringing the issue to attention but balks by making his message appear the topic can be delayed or neglected in pursuit of human pleasure. Consider the Lobster brings readers to attention by raising the topic, that is often deliberately neglected by many of Gourmant s audience during meals associated with lobster cooking. Back in history Eucharist was more than just a thing that they did to be close to God and remember what Jesus had done for us. But back in the early church it was more of a worship service in and of itself. The men have, by this time, become almost desensitized to death. Kemmerich (the dying friend) owns a fine pair of English airman s boots. It is a forgone conclusion that Kemmerich will no longer require them. It is not petty greed, but pragmatism, which drives Muller s desire to have the boots. The troops own equipment is ragged and worn, making anything in serviceable condition an improvement on what they have. As we find out in the story, not only are the soldiers boots worn out, but the artillery of the German army is also worn out. This may symbolize that not only are the soldiers and equipment at the front worn out, but so is Germany as a whole. Germany was worn out and had no idea what was going to happen, just as the soldiers had no idea where the artillery shells would land.
