The Role Of Dozza Prison In Italy
As human beings are weak compared to Jesus, we are easily affected by evil temptations such as
greed or anger. Consequently, we have committed crimes or broke rules at least once in our lives
and regretted what we did. Even though, breaking rules is natural behavior for us, it is not simple
to punish or forgive criminals. Most people claim that laws are the absolute truth or value to punish
and judge people who break laws. However, reality is not that simple; there are complexed values
such as emotion that cannot be written on the paper. If law was the absolute punishment, no one
would feel guilty and struggle after they punished by the laws or would blame others after they
finished their punishment. Then, how can we truly forgive ourselves?... Show more content on

This verse exactly depicts the Crime and Punishment s main theme; Love is the way to
rehabilitate. Even though she was a sinner, Jesus truly loves her and blesses her. He forgives the
woman with true love. This is what we should keep in mind as we are Christian who try to imitate
what Jesus did. A strong law and harsh punishment is not the absolute way to make people to
rehabilitate; it could be the wall for criminals that blocks the way to the society. Therefore, We
should forgive, love and give them one more chance even though they are the

Ecology And Plant Ecology
In this article examples are going to be discussed of the application of molecular biology in the
field of plant ecology, what molecular biology is as well as what plant ecology is. Plant ecology is
one of the branches in the scientific field of ecology that mainly focus on plant population and their
surroundings (McMahon, 2016). Plant ecologists also look at other factors that have an impact on
the plants and their environment. According to the MIT Department of Biology, plant molecular
biologyis the study where biological data such as plants genetics, genomes, biochemical and the cell
biologics is inserted into computers to understand the development, growth and physiology of
plants at a molecular level. The examples that is going to be... Show more content on

Researchers do not just look at the plant but keeps in mind how the plants interact with each other
and their environment. A Plant ecologist do not just look at plants but also the soil conditions,
animals and other influences that might have an impact on the plants environment. According to
McMahon (2016) plant ecology is not just a plant itself but, is everything from understanding
the plants environment functions as well as the interaction of humans with the natural
environment. The area most focused on in plant ecology is topics like climate change, plant
diseases and the symbiotic relationship between plant species and how plants spread in nature
(McMahon, 2016). Plant ecology involves a lot of field work because the plant needs to be
viewed in their natural habitat to understand why the plant looks like it does. Plant ecology
covers a wide range of research for instance the study of plants growing in a specific ecosystem
for example the rainforest, or a specific area that is of interest, like a population of plants that is
growing next to a polluted river or dam. It can also help researchers to study endangered
ecosystems and plant populations including not vascular plants like mosses. Plants make up a very
large part of the natural environment. Plants do not just provide people and animals with food but
also with shelter for animals, prevents erosion and the most important part is that plants provide us
with oxygen (McMahon,

An Modern Methodology For Water Treatment Plant Affecting...
relationship is described by a collection of fuzzy control rules ( IF THEN RULES) involving
linguistic variable [13].
6.1 METHODOLOGY
In this paper we introduce an modern methodology for water treatment plant affecting factors
analysis. The proposed expert system manages and explores the knowledge in this specific
application by reasoning on a database of facts by means of suitable inference rules. The proposed
comprehensive, homogenous framework uses a set of Fuzzy Inference Systems to interpret,
standardize and fuse heterogeneous data in order to estimate normalized factors. The FIS for
affecting factor analysis is divided into four main components: the fuzzification, knowledge base,
Inference engine, and the Defuzzification.
Fuzzy logic controller has four components:
1) Fuzzification: It transforms input into suitable linguistic value so that can be compared to the
rule in rule base.
2) Knowledge Base: It contains the knowledge in form of a set of rules to control the artificial
system. It is the collection of rules. The basic function of rule base is to provide the required
information to fuzzification module, the rule base and the defuzzification module. If part is called
antecedent and then part is called consequent.
3) Inference Engine: If control rules are relevant then it decides the input to the plant. The Inference
system provides the mechanism for invoking or referring to the rule base such that the proper rules
are fired on the situation.

Analysis Of The Essay Salman Rushdie By Scott Russell...
Scott Russell Sanders writes an essay to Salman Rushdie explaining his view point on what
Salman wrote on how people migrate all over the world. Sanders explains in the essay that
people often chase after an idea rather than a place, he believes people cannot stay in one place
because they are living for an imaginary world. Sanders uses many techniques in the essay to
help get his idea of staying rooted to a location would help society make a better home for
themselves. These techniques include metaphors and repetition. Metaphors are used sparingly in
this essay but they still add to the idea us human s may be living in the make believe. Our
Promised land has always been over the next ridge or at the end of a trail, never under our feet.
By saying things like, over the next ridge or end of the trail it makes someone think of fairytale

repeating populance he refers to society as a whole, how it s our problem, not just one person s

yet it never does and the problems just keep continuing. Sanders also uses repetition another time in
his essay, The Spaniards devastated central and South America...Colonists bought slavery with
them to North America, along with smallpox and Norway rats. The Dust Bowl of the 1930s was
not caused by drought but by the transfer onto the Great Plains of farming methods... Sanders
constantly repeats incidents in history with this quote where migration to a new place has caused
problems, and they were not trivial problems they were tremendous issues. This adds to theory that
moving somewhere else is not beneficial, such things as slavery and smallpox were a result of

Amy Tan s Language In The Immigrant Family
It is a well known fact that children acquire language through their environment. From the time of
birth, they are exposed to many different phonetics which allow them to shape words and form
language. As parents and families utilize specific words as symbols for different concepts and
ideas, children learn that they must use these to communicate their desires. This is evident in
everyday life, for example those born in different parts of the world, who grow up hearing a
predominant language, grow up speaking that language with all of the same particular nuances,
slangs and variations that are present. Therefore, Amy Tan s claim that the language spoken in the
family, especially in the immigrant families, plays a large role in shaping the language of the child,

even with just that little bit of influence there are still words within my vocabulary that they and I

dows bid for rohm and haas
1) Introduction
The case presents an American company Dow, producer of commodity chemicals, who is in the
final stages of acquiring another company Rohm and Haas. Dow s CEO has been working for
four years to transform Dow from a producer of low value, highly cyclical commodity chemicals
to a producer of high value, specialty chemicals and advanced materials. Rohm is a perfect
match for Dow in respect of the strategic and financial perspective. Dow is also pursuing another
key deal with Kuwait s Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) that was supposed to generate
$7 billion cash net of tax which could be used to finance acquisition of specialty chemical maker
Rohm Haas for $18.8 billion all cash deal. However, by late 2008, ... Show more content on

We explore the Equity Value s sensitivity to the discount rate as well as to the projected growth
rate. This sensitity is shown in Table . Using the baseline assumptions (WACC=8.5%, growth
rate=2%), we arrive at a base equity level without synergies of $46.41 per share. However, this
value is quite sensitive to both the WACC and growth rates. The overall spectrum of base values
ranges from $27.75/share to $73.42/share, with the baseline assumptions falling squarely in the
middle.
Table 4: Per Share Equity Value without Syergies
Value of the Cost Synergies
To be able to recognize the cost synergies, Dow had to incur a one time cost of $1.3 billion
spread over two years. Dow also stated that it would take 2 years for them to fully recoginize the
cost synergies. We found that $800 million of cost synergies would be worth and additional $32.18
per Rohm and Haas share.
Value of the Growth Synergies
Growth Synergies are estimated to be between $2B and $2.6B based on expanded market
porfolios, increased geographic reach and innovative technologies. We assume that these Growth
Synergies would also take two years to completely recognize. The equity value per Rohm and
Haas share is stated in the table below to view the difference between $2B and $2.6B:

The Pawnee Rangers Essay
To demonstrate how this show has managed to weave positive feminist ideals into every aspect
of the show, it is not hard to find examples in almost every episode. Truly one of the strongest
example of this takes place is the episode The Pawnee Ranger, where Leslie fights the
discriminating policies of the males only Pawnee Rangers, which is led by her boss Ron
Swanson. They proceed to fight over their rivaling youth camp organizations, with Ron s spartan
Pawnee Rangers, who learn to appreciate fishing, camping, and complete silence, up against Leslie
s supportive and indulgent Pawnee Goddesses, who practice arts and crafts and self confidence
building exercises. This episode, while still remaining to be very funny, also shows the importance
of genderequality, depicting the value in teaching young girls to be self confident, independent
thinkers who understand and appreciate working together with boys.... Show more content on

is able to inspire those around her to action, training the world to be a better place by being
inclusive, regardless of gender. For Leslie, feminism is a necessity that must be shared in this
world, to help benefit other women and achieve the ultimate good for

Acute Renal Failure Essay
Acute renal failure is the sudden loss of the kidneys ability to function; affecting more than 100,000
people in the United States alone each year (NIDDK, 2008). This paper will discuss the basic
pathophysiology of acute renal failure, including its cause, disease mechanisms, symptoms, some of
the treatments and pharmacological therapies.
Pathophysiology
Acute renal failure (ARF) is the rapid loss of kidney function occurring when high levels of
uremic toxins accumulate in the blood. ARF occurs when the kidneys are unable to excrete the
daily load of toxins in the urine. The most common causes of ARF are dehydration, blood loss
from major surgery or injury, or medications such as NSAIDs, antibiotics, or the dyes used in...

However, the kidneys usually start working again within several weeks to months after the
underlying cause has been treated. Many people, however, die because of the primary disease
that has caused the kidney failure. Studies have estimated overall death rates for AKF at 42 88%,
(Krapp, 2002). Up to 10% of patients who experience ARF will suffer irreversible kidney damage.
They will eventually go on to develop chronic kidney failure or end stage renal disease. These
patients will require long term dialysis or kidney transplantation to replace their lost renal
functioning (Krapp, 2002).
Clinical manifestations
In the beginning stages of ARF, there may not be any symptoms; usually symptoms become
noticeable the longer ARF goes undetected or is left untreated. Fatigue is a common symptom
due to anemia. Healthy kidneys produce a hormone called erythropoietin that tells the body to
make red blood cells. As the kidneys fail, they make less erythropoietin (NIDDK, 2008). With
fewer red blood cells to carry oxygen, the body becomes tired very quickly. Some patients
experience lower back pain resulting from kidney stones or other obstructions. A big indicator of
kidney problems is changes in the urination, including decreased urine output. In addition, the urine
might be foamy signifying buildup of protein, or contain blood due to an obstruction. Edema could
be present due to the build of fluids within the body (Cadwallader, 2002).

Bacterial Meningitis Research Paper
Bacterial Meningitis
5. Bacterial meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes of the spinal cord and brain. It is a
serious communicable infection transmitted via respiratory secretion; bacteria moves into the blood
circulation (Thomas 1027). There are two types of bacteria which cause most of the meningitis
cases, those two are Neisseria Meningitidis and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Each bacterium has its
own shape such as the Neisseria meningitidis has a diplococci shape. This shape is described as
two spherically shaped bacteria pushed together ( Bacteria Morphology 1). The shape pf
Streptococcus pneumoniae is also diplococci, but it has been called Lancet shaped which mean
longer cocci with an outer curvature ( Bacteria Morphology 1). Bacterial meningitis is transmitted

Enteroviruses are present in the fetus, mucus, and saliva of infected people (Bennington 3). The
viruses or organisms reach the meninges from foci in the body via blood or lymph, through trauma,
or from adjacent bony structures such as the sinuses (Thomas 1027). Meningitis has harmful
symptoms such as irregular fever, loss appetite, intense headache, constipation, intolerance to light
and sound, contacted pupils, delirium, retraction of head, convulsion, and coma (Thomas 1027).
Bacterial meningitis requires an individual to be hospitalized. Early diagnosis and treatment will
prevent brain damage and even death. Bacterial meningitis is threated with strict antibiotic therapy,
such as ampicillin, penicillin G, Chloramphenicol, kanamycin, and gentamicin following strict
isolation techniques (Thomas 1027). Those are the drugs of choice if the organisms susceptible.
Supportive symptomatic therapy is also indicative (1027). According to the Taber Cyclopedia

The Washington Redskins Should Change Their Name
The debate about whether or not the Washington Redskins should change their name has been a
topic for a long time. Some Native Americans have often considered the name a racial slur and
think that the league should get rid of the name as it doesn t represent Native Americans in the
best way possible. In 1937 the Redskins moved to Washington and decided to retain the name
even though it had faced backlash then. Since then the team has over time shown more caution
on using slogans that may disrespect Native Americans. Some slogans they did use include On
the Warpath, with a cartoon drawing of an angry Indian, and another called Teepee Talk,
featuring a clip art Indian sticking his head out of a tepee (Shapira, 2016, Para.5). There will
always be a debate if the team should get rid of its name but for right now Washington s football
teams name is the Redskins. In Washington they took a poll asking Native Americans if they
were offended by the name Redskins. The poll Showed that 90% of Native Americans did not feel
offended by the team name, in fact they thought that it showed respect to their heritage. But on the
other hand when they took a poll across the whole nation people were a little more disgruntled
with the name as 23% of people wanted the name to be changed. The Post poll also found that 78
percent deemed the Redskins name an issue that is either not too or not at all important (Keim,

Romeo And Juliet Last Scene Essay
I chose the last scene of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the death scene of Romeo
after he sees Juliet die , as the material I wanted to transform using Grotowski s influence for my
solo theatre piece . I felt that this particular scene really involved the use of raw emotion. The
general tone of this particular scene is quite somber and dark, as Romeo sees his loved one dead
, and there is an overall sense of longing as Romeo relives the moments him and Juliet shared
together, as well as longing for their once strong bond and her presence. I decided to write my
own monologue from Romeo s perspective based on the scene, and to preserve the main ideas and
story of the scene to a large extent, whilst tweaking the original content... Show more content on

After doing so I decided to take a slightly different perspective on the scene, where as well as
outlining the despair of Romeo and the longing he feels for Juliet, I would outline other feelings
not explored in the actual scene such as the regret (and possible short term satisfaction) he felt in
killing Tybalt and Paris who he felt were tearing them apart. Because of this I felt an emphasis
on voice, physicality and raw emotion, which Grotowski pushed to bring out in his theory of
Poor Theatre , would suit this scene greatly. In addition, this feeling of regret, anger and hatred
he feels after killing the two would enable me to create an uneasy, dark atmosphere for the piece.
I read a monologue based on the last scene and used it as a stimulus for my devised monologue .
I also watched a theatre production on YouTube based on that very scene of Romeo and Juliet to
understand the story better while developing further ideas about how to form the piece. This was
a dark interpretation of the last scene, and it helped me form the idea of setting the play in a
graveyard where Juliet was buried while I addressed her as if she was alive and reindulged in
Romeo s memories with

Abstract Power reduction is an major challenge in the integrated circuit design since it degrades
the chip performance the reliability. Frequent transistor switching caused due to large IR voltage
drops gives raise to timing violations and logic failures. A new clock control strategy is been
introduced in this paper such that the simultaneous switching of the combinational paths is
minimized. This is achieved by clustering the delay slacks having similar slack values. Once the
paths are identified based on the path delays and their slack values the clustering algorithm
determines the path to clusters in a load balanced manner based on the slack values and each
cluster will have a phase shift possible on its clock depending on the slack.
INTRODUCTION
Low power has emerged as a major goal in today s electronics industry. The motivations for
reducing power consumption differ from application to application. For high performance, portable
computers, such as laptop and notebook computers, the goal is to reduce the power dissipation of
the electronics portion of the system to a point that is about half of the total power dissipation
(including that of display and hard disk).

What Is The Purpose Of So Far Away
Going through the loss of a loved one is always a great hardship, and affects more people than

song was written shortly after the band s drummer passed away due to an intentional drug

This song was James suicide note, and was originally named Death. These two songs go hand in
hand with one another and are both incredibly impactful on anybody. They show the suffering
and pain that James went through in his late life, and his choice to end that pain. So Far Away
not only displays these feelings of grief from the band, but also shows how somebody is
appreciated in their own life. As it is shown that the rest of Avenged Sevenfold loved James
wholeheartedly. This song shows how so many people genuinely care about each other, just as the
band loved James. Many people believe that they have no worth in their life and that nobody cares
about them. It reminds people how much they truly are worth, and how much people care about
them. So Far Away is a reminder that no matter the person, they are valued by somebody in their
life. It shows

The Effect Of Chemical Reactions On The Rate Of Reaction
A chemical reaction is the interaction of two or more chemicals that produces a new chemical
compound, most reactions require an increase in temperature, pressure, surface area, concentration
or the inclusion of a catalysts to speed up the rate of reaction. Chemical reactions can be found in
everyday life, without many of us knowing. Either it be a soluble tablet in water, or photosynthesis
in a plant. The prerequisites for a reaction are known as the Collision Theory . As stated by M.
Ferguson (2016), For a reaction to occur, particles must collide, with sufficient energy(also known
as activation energy) in the correct orientation to break the existing bonds between the particles .
There are many factors that influence the rate of reaction, these include: an increase in,
temperature, concentration, surface area (SA), pressure and a catalyst. When a gas, liquid or
solid solution is heated, the molecules of that particular chemical gain kinetic energy, and thus
move faster, allowing for more frequent and successful collisions. This allows for the product to
be formed much faster than if the molecules had less kinetic energy. If the concentration of a
solution has increased, there will be more molecules in the same volume, which allows for the
molecules to collide more frequently. This process speeds up the rate of reaction more so, than if
there were fewer molecules in the same volume. An increase in surface area of a solid substance
allows for an increase in rate of

Greenbush Vs. Burke Heights
Greenbush vs. Burke Heights
This report will be on the research I have discovered first hand as well as through statistical data that
compares and contrasts the neighborhoods of Greenbush and Burke Heights, both located in
Madison, Wisconsin. When researching these two neighborhoods, I focused on the neighborhoods
housing statistics, demographics of their residents, and the money circulating within the
neighborhoods. Another aspect I paid attention to while comparing the neighborhoods was the
economic and employment opportunities available within the communities. These benefits directly
correlate to the amount of capital that is available for residents. Lastly, I took note of the
entertainment, retail, and physical possibilities that prevailed in these neighborhoods.
The first subject I will compare is the housing within each neighborhood. First, in the Greenbush
neighborhood, the majority of people are either college students or young adults between the ages
of twenty and thirty two. It was obvious this age group lived in these homes seeing the dГ©cor on
the front porches and the cars in the driveways. The average household income ranges between
seventy and eighty five thousand dollars per year (StatisticalAtlas). Just walking down the street I
noticed most of the lots are designated for either college students, expensive residential homes, or
parks with green spaces. The neighborhoods average price for a normal sized home would range
between three hundred and three

The Social Fabric Of Late Eighteenth- And Early Nineteenth...
Jane Austen s novel is principally concerned with the social fabric of late eighteenth and early
nineteenth century England, a patriarchal society in which men held the economic and social
power. In an often satirical portrait of the men and women attempting to gain a livelihood, Austen
ironically points out faults in the system, raising questions about the values of English society and
the power structure of the country. The novel is also engaged in an ideological debate that drives
its plot and defines the essence of its main character. The precise nature of this balance is not
necessarily clear, and despite what seems to be a happy marriage, it may not be entirely possible to
reconcile Elizabeth s independence and naturalness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

And they have conflicting thoughts about the arrival of the rich neighbours. Mr. Bennet thinks
nothing of it, and has no new thoughts about the arrival of Bingley and Darcy. Mrs. Bennet sees
flashing lights. She views it as the perfect chance to automatically place a few of her five

Bennet s life. Mrs. Bennet wants her husband to go and make a greeting to the new crowd. Her
plans are to get in contact with them and make aware her five bachelor daughters. Mrs. Bennet
encourages her daughter, Jane, to set her sights on Mr. Bingley. Mr. Bennet s sarcastic
comments prove his disconcert on the whole topic. When Jane is invited to meet with Mr.

Irish Music Research Paper
Irish Music is Fighting Strong in the 21st Century A young American man walks down a busy
city street whistling Loch Loman, while a Japanese woman on the other side of the globe is

of today. It reaches people all over the globe from those locally born to those of no Irish ancestry

Some of the Irish tunes, though perhaps honestly expressive of the flawed human heart, may
stray a little far. Since a common theme in traditional Irish music (and arguably, most genres of
music) is romantic interest, it is not uncommon to hear infidelity eluded to or spoken of directly
in a ballad like Ride On (Celtic Women Destiny ). In a version sung by the music group Celtic
Women, the down trodden melody mentions a suggestive line at least once in the course of its
lyrics (Celtic Woman Destiny ). People s objections to this is are understandable and perfectly
legitimate. However, one could argue that this music can still be enjoyed, it just requires
discretion. Due to the many depressing topics featured in Irish music, people may be less
inclined to absorb the sense of emanating sadness which the songs convey. It is true that many
Irish melodies seem to be a bit dark or sad, in part to their slower, more dramatic pace. There are,
however, pieces of Irish music which many times employ the use of the fiddle. There is also always
the potential that audiences may just have other musical tastes, which could be summed up in One

The Divine Rights Of Kings In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
In ancient times, when humans are in the infant stage of development of human history, humans
understandings of nature are just only based in their imagination. While facing the powerful
forces of nature, people are aware of their own strength is pretty small, and their fate is
controlled by an invisible power they called this unknown force god . With the passage of time,
people seem to foresee the possibility of overcoming nature, and they begin to look forward to
their own peers, a powerful figure, to complete the great cause of beating nature. The emergence
of priests shows the beginning of religion. When it comes to priest, the first thing come up with
the most people s mind is The divine right of Kings in British, which refers to the god empowers
Kings with the rights to manage citizens. Date back to the era of Babylon, the time of the first
written form of literature, The Epic of Gilgamesh, The divine right of Kings had already
loomed. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh, the great king of Urk in the history, had decreed
density of king. He had given the supreme power over people, victory form with no fugitive
returns, in forays and assaults from which there is no going back. ( ,24) But at the same time, the
right of king was also retracted by gods. After Gilgamesh s royal friend Enkidu died, he placed his
hope on the everlasting life. In his journey of pursuing everlasting life, even he found the

making the journey to her new home, a detour into a sketchy amusement park sends Chihiro
away from her world and into the spirit world. Our hero is suddenly faced with a dilemma; her
parents are pigs (both literally and metaphorically), and the tunnel connecting the human world
and the spirit world has been blocked. In order to return to her world safely alongside her parents,
Chihiro must survive in the spirit world and play by its rules. Our hero faces great challenges and
trials, like... getting a job? And... confronting your boss? How about remembering to eat so that

In the end, we see the results of Chihiro s growth as a character as she faces the Witch Yubaba in
the final confrontation. She not only completes her initial quest, but also finishes the side quest,
allowing her to become a much more mature individual as compared to her state of being at the
beginning of the film. Spirited Awaydraws upon many mythic themes, and the ones that I will be
talking about are Symbolism and Sacred Spaces. One of the symbols that we are first introduced
to in Spirited Away is water. When our hero starts to transition into the world of spirits,
something happens off screen. Water suddenly blocks the tunnel that connects the human world
and the spirit world. Water also appears to magically surround the perimeter of the bathhouse at
its base. Water is also used in the bathhouse to rejuvenate and cleanse spirits that enter. And
finally, water comes up again when we see a flashback of what seems to be Chihiro drowning in
a river. So what s up with water? Well, throughout the film, water is used to symbolize freedom
and captivity. It serves as a literal object that blocks Chihiro s path back to the human world, and
also limits movement around the spirit world (we see that Chihiro has to utilize a train system in
order to move around the spirit world freely). However, water isn t all that bad. In the scene where
Chihiro is faced with the responsibility to clean the stink spirit, inordinate amounts of

Why Is It Better To Stand Out
I believe that it is better to stand out rather than to fit in. When you stand out, you are able to
learn so many things about yourself that you never knew about. But first, you need to stand out
from the crowd, do what matters to you and change the world for the better. By being yourself, it
allows people to follow in your footsteps by becoming a leader, not a follower. For example, in a
garden bed there are a million of white flowers, but one rose. That one rose is unique and
everyone wants that one since it is different from the rest. By fitting in, people are killing their
own creativity just to be accepted to be like others. We feel pressured to measure up to the same
standard as everyone else to satisfy people s needs and wants. We want

Effects Of Captive Enrichment On Fish Production Essay
Effects of Captive Enrichment on Fish Production: Fathead Minnows (Pimephales promelas)
Introduction
Environmental enrichment for fish in captive environments has not been studied often, unlike that
of mammals. However, in the last decade there have been more attempts to study it. Moreover,
structural environmental enrichment is the focal point at this time. Structural environmental
enrichment is the addition of a structure (e.g. toys, buoys, artificial vegetation) to the rearing
environment (Naslund Johnsson, 2014). Enrichment can affect a variety of aspects of the biology
of captive fish, such as, stress, injury, disease susceptibility, aggression, and energy expenditure
(Gerber et al., 2015)). A recent study conducted by Naslund and Johnsson (2014), found that
environmental enrichment can be divided into groups. These groups include: physical enrichment,
sensory enrichment, dietary enrichment, social enrichment, and occupational enrichment. Since,
some of those are difficult to test, physical enrichment is what is being studied now. All species of
fish are not the same and prefer certain substrates rather than others. Therefore, since the Fathead
Minnows that we will be studying and conducting this research on, will depend on what they prefer.
The goal of this study is to test whether captive enrichment effects the reproduction success of P.
promelas.
Background
Fat Head minnows can survive in a variety of environments such as creeks, headwaters, rivers,
lakes, and

In Kidney failure cases urea, creatine, uric acids and electrolytes move from the blood to the
dialysate with the net effect of lowering their concentration in the blood. RBC s WBC s and
plasma proteins are too large to diffuse through the pores of the membrane. Hemodialysis patient
are exposed to 120 to 130 L of water during each dialysis treatment. Small molecular weight
substances can pass from the dialysate in to patient s blood. So the purity of water used for
dialysis is monitored and controlled. * Osmosis: Osmosis is the movement of fluid from an area
of lesser concentration to an area of greater concentration of solutes. Glucose is added to the
dialysate and creates an osmotic gradient across the membrane, pulling excess fluid from the
blood. * Ultra filtration: Ultra filtration results when there is an osmotic gradient or pressure
gradient across the membrane. In PD excess fluid is removed by increasing the osmolality of the
dialysate with the addition of glucose. In HD , the gradient is created by increasing pressure in the
blood compartment(positive pressure)t ore decreasing pressure in the dialysate
compartment(negative pressure). Extracellular fluid moves in to the dialysate because of the
pressure gradient. The excess fluid is removed by creating a pressure differential between the blood
and the dialysate solution.

Essay on The Pardons of Purgatory
Freedom is the ability one has to choose. Freedom is without consequence, fear of transgression,
and lacks regret. Freedom is a fork in the road a trail that leads to fortune in a field of traps.
Humans have freedom and hold it as children do crayons, straying beyond the lines of purpose
only to get lost in meaningless scribbles. Dante condemns these actions in his poem Purgatory.
Dante invents a fictitious location in afterlife, liberating souls that have become prisoners of their
own disarray. With a collection of paradoxes, vivid imagery, and active examples, Dante
establishes a thorough process in which souls can be cleansed of the past and stride to their future.
Purgatory is far from a place of punishment; it is rather a place... Show more content on

Once liberated from one s tainted ability to reason, one must surrender him self to a higher power
that will guide him accurately through the trials hurdled toward him. If man alone was responsible
to hold himself accountable, he would inevitably taste the savor of some lesser good and chase
it, destroying the freedom of [his] will (Dante 173) and fall victim to the seasons of his own
desires. Men need some rein or guide (Dante 175) to direct their overhot desires (Dante 265) or
they will escalade like weeds growing over a fertile field (Dante 355). Men see the goodness of
the matter but cannot do everything by the power of will (Dante 231) allowing their discretion
to grow weary in the first battles (Dante 173). As Virgil, a symbol of man abandoned by his
ability to freely judge (Dante 173), was prompted by divine grace before he came to rescue Dante
from a Siren a being which steals the might of (Dante 203) men. Dante illustrates man s tendency to
passively stand aside as his life is acted upon rather than act on the decisions made by mindful
consideration. Men must humble themselves to a greater power to lead them to ultimate freedom.
Solely a guide will not suffice the redemption of one s soul. One must make conscious and
passionate decisions to move forward in growth and change, without portraying doubt or becoming
distracted by the shiny plastic gems saturating the world. Dante constantly

Nutrition for Sport
Introduction
An athlete needs to ensure that they consume enough fuel to complete activities undertaken. The
amount of energy required depends on many factors including size and weight of the athlete, level
and intensity of the training, and due to this the amount of energy required varies from person to
person. However if more energy is consumed than required, the excess is stored as fat and weight
will increase, on the other hand if insufficient energy is consumed the body calls upon its stores to
meet the demand and weight will be lost.
To consume a balanced diet we need to consume items from the macro and micro nutrient groups.

Female Tennis Player
The athletes calorie requirements need to be worked out what is required every day before any
training is added in. To do this the same calculation was made as the female runner, except
instead of 8.7 x kg it is 14.7 x kg and 496 is added instead of 829, this is because this athlete is in
a different age group. Again activity requirement is taken into consideration, at 450 calories an
hour, and as exact training figures are not available it has been estimated at 6 hours training a
week, which then works out as an extra 2700 calories a week. This figure is then divided by 7 to
give the extra calories needed each day. So this athlete needs a total of 3384 calories a day to
maintain her current stature. Again the daily allowance needs to be divided between the
macronutrients. According to National Institute of Nutrition (2007) this athlete needs
CHO:Lipids:Protein at 60:25:15. Once again the calories are converted into grams. See Appendix 1.

Relationship Between Mesopotamian And Greek Gods
Throughout their histories, religion has played a central role in Mesopotamian and Greek culture.
Both peoples built mighty temples and made countless sacrifices in the name of their gods, but the
exact nature of their relationships with their gods remains a mystery. Historians are left to guess at
their customs and traditions from the works they left behind such as Homer s epic poem The Illiad
and the anonymous epic poem the Epic of Gilgamesh. From these texts, it becomes apparent that
the Mesopotamians relationship with their gods was one founded on a sense of respect while the
Greeks was one rooted in fear. Correspondingly, the Mesopotamian gods are more restrained and
nurturing in their interactions with humans while the Greek gods are brash and patronizing, though
neither set of gods is greatly concerned with the wellbeing of mortals. In both cultures, humans and
gods share an undeniable connection in their range and expression of emotion. As such, though
Mesopotamians and Greeks take different approaches to interaction with their gods and vice versa,
the relationship between humans and gods is fundamentally the same in both cultures.
From the human perspective, the Mesopotamians and Greeks share a strong sense of reverence for
their gods. They make regular sacrifices and hold their gods in the highest esteem, but these
sentiments come from different places. The Greeks act primarily out of fear while the
Mesopotamians act more out of a notion of respect. In

Environmental Assessment of Wastewater Drains Outfalls Points into River Mouri at Khulna: An
Application of GIS S. Hasan , K. M. Hassan and S. K. Sarkar Abstract Rivers are the blessing on
earth as they serve humans with ample fresh water supply. The purpose of the present study focuses
on the combination of the GIS mapping, to indicate the status of pollution status in the sketch of
River Mouri, downstream to the wastewater outfalls. The GIS mapping of the eleven wastewater
study parameters reveals that the high concentrations of BOD5, COD, DO, Color, Turbidity, TDS
and TSS exceeding the permissible limits is present throughout the study portion of the river. In
addition, it highlighted the portions where only few parameters such as PH, Chloride, Nitrate and
Sulphate are deteriorating the riverine ecosystem. The GIS application in pollutant load assessment
of the study further indicates that although few pollutants, discharged into river are relatively low
in concentrations at one wastewater outfall point as compared to other but may have high pollutant
load that may leads to significantly higher ecological impacts. The possible application of this study
is for the decision makers to introduce optimum treatment engineering controls at points of
interests, prior to its disposal into River Mouri to prevent the ecological damages and protect human
health. Keywords: gis mapping, mouri river, water quality, wastewater outfalls 1.Introduction Water

introductory exercise, every individual had to talk spontaneously about their positive qualities
and how each of us could benefit from the other and bring the same to the team. For me the
question, what each individual could add to the team really stood out because everyone had
something unique to say about themselves and I will certainly use it in the future while forming
teams. Later, we had a small team exercise of making 15 paper airplane and this exercise taught
us the Forming part of the team model that is how to adapt quickly in a new team, help each other
and come up with a solution. During this entire process one team member was asked to observe
without giving any inputs. This technique deemed simple and creative as I felt it

How Did Albert Einstein Impact The World
Albert Einstein and his Effect on the World
We can t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.
(Collected Quotes) This is a quote from one of the most influential minds in science of the 20th
Century. Albert Einstein was named Person of the Century by Time Magazine in 1999. (Mastin)
Albert Einstein was so influential to the world that his name has become synonymous with genius.
(Isaacson) He worked on many things in the field of physics that changed the way people think
about the world as well as working on social issues of the time such as working with pacifist, anti
war organizations and helping Jews escape persecution during the Holocaust.
Einstein s Theory of Special Relativity made major contributions to the field of physics. The
Theory of Special Relativity states that the speed of light is the same for all observers regardless
at what speed that observer is moving. (Mastin) His Theory of Special Relativity comes mostly ...

This theory supposes that gravity is a warpage in the fabric of space time. (Mastin) This theory
is considered one of the pillars of modern physics. (Mastin) This theory replaces Newton s Law
of Gravity which had been accepted previously as being correct. It proposes the existence of
black holes, the bending of light and wormholes. (Mastin) The existence of black holes is
important to the field of physics because it is speculated that all galaxies revolve around super
massive black holes. A year after publishing his original paper he added the concept of the
cosmological constant which works as an anti gravity force. (Mastin) This force prevents the
universe from collapsing on itself.(Mastin) At the time people just thought of it as a mathematical
fix and Einstein considered it his greatest blunder (Mastin) Recent work in physics shows that this
might be an answer to the problem of dark

The Relationship Between Ellen Monks And John Dunn
Authors Footnote; There have been many speculative reports that as the gang s reign was
drawing to a close a romantic relationship between the bushranger John Dunn and one Margaret
Monks occurred. Reputedly formulated during the period that Ben Hall, John Gilbert and John
Dunn s were canvassing the bush north of Crookwell and culminated in a raid on Binda, NSW,
on Boxing day 26th December 1864. However, it has been suggested, even advocated that as a
result of the gang s presence in this area two local lasses Ellen Monks and Christine McKinnon
had cavorted with Hall and Gilbert and also in the lasses company was Ellen s older sister
Margaret Monks who was two years older than Dunn. However, this alleged union between Dunn

By permission of the owner, the late William Perry, he was allowed to occupy a hut set apart at
some distance from his homestead for swagmen and others. Here Dunn s luck finally expired
and he was reported, as captured; Dunn was arrested on the Marthaguy Creek, about a hundred
and fifty miles beyond Dubbo, by three of the Cannonbar and Coonamble police. There appears to
have been some fighting, as both Dunn and the officer in charge of the party were wounded.
Newly researched evidence in regards to Margaret Monks demonstrates that at the time of the
Binda Ball, Margaret had been in a long term relationship with a local man named Charles
Coleman, who may well have been at the hotel during the evening s festivities. Notwithstanding, on
the 5th March 1866, Margaret Monks gave birth to a son at Trunkey Creek, NSW named

HIST 104A
1964: a Summer That Shocked the Nation
The 1960 s was a time like no other in American history. Racial tension between African Americans
and white, middle class citizens had plagued the country. Animosity towards African Americans
was aggressive throughout the south and did not show signs of letting up. Alongside rising racial
tensions, fear of communism put many on edge, which gave Americans more of a reason to use
blacks as a scapegoat to blame for occurring issues. At the time, white Americans in the south
perceived African Americans as inferior, regardless of if they were technically free . The strong
contempt towards the black community lead to widespread oppression of African Americans...

Doing this gave the African Americancommunity more power and voice. Standing united
allowed these activist groups to implement their individual goals and place them all under the
same branch. One major goal included black voter registration lead by Bob Moses and Tom
Gaither (44). They believed that blacks had been disenfranchised by the Jim crow laws and other
laws hindering their voter registration abilities. Voter registration forms made it nearly impossible
for uneducated black Americans to register, often using trick questions (41). A majority of blacks
did not feel comfortable registering to vote due to the potential repercussions. They would often be
persecuted and harassed by locals and often were blacklisted or outed in the local newspapers if
attempted to register. The act of fear instilled in many blacks throughout the south prevented them
from registering. Moses and Gaither along with SNCC volunteers, helped this issue by going to
local communities throughout Mississippi, motivating locals and the community by building local
leaders. SNCC activist Charles McLaurin even stated By getting the people together they will see
that they are not alone... (49). Going into communities and motivating locals to register helped
many blacks overcome their fears and aided the snowball effect of black voter registration.
Creation of local leaders gave hope to many black southerners showing them that

What Role Did Babe Ruth Play In The 1920s
Never allow the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game! This quote was famously
said by one of the greatest baseball players ever Babe Ruth. Babe Ruth played in the 1920s era.
This was a time of low unemployment, so many citizens spent their salaries on many activities:
going to the movies, listening to jazz music, and watching sporting events. The 1920s became a
time for people to enjoy their time and live life with laissez faire, or a policy or attitude of letting
things take their own course. The 1920s also became a time for sports to take full effect. Athletes,
such as Babe Ruth, Benny Leonard, and Harold Osborn, were at the forefront of making sports
popular in the United States. Citizens of the 1920s wanted to have fun... Show more content on

Many people consider Babe as the greatest to play the game. The records Babe Ruth set is a
testament to how amazing of a player he really was. While playing for the Red Sox in 1919, Babe
set the single season record for home runs at 29(biography). In the next season, now with the New
York Yankees, Ruth close to doubled his single season home runrecord to 54(biography). Following
the 54 home run season Ruth set the outstanding record of 59 home runs(biography). It only took
Ruth 10 seasons to become one of the greatest home run hitters anyone has ever seen. Ruth s
success on the baseball diamond made him a household name; so much so, that the new Yankee
Stadium (built in 1923) was dubbed the house that Ruth built (biography). When everyone
thought that Babe was incredible at setting the total home runs to 59, Ruth outdid himself again
to set godly mark of 60 homeruns in one season during the 1927 season(biography).
Unsurprisingly, this record stood for an amazing 34 years. No one had ever seen a player as
great as what Babe Ruth was during the 1920s. During the 1920s, Ruth broke practically all of
the slugging records. These include most years leading a league in home runs (12); most total
bases in a season (457); and highest slugging percentage for a season (.847) (biography). Based on
his prestigious baseball career, Babe Ruth was one of the most influential athletes during the

Comparing My Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover
My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover are two mind boggling tales that relate in many ways.
Two of which, they are both written by Robert Browning and from a male s point of view. The
Duke in My Last Duchess gives off a controlling, jealous, and arrogant vibe towards the Duchess
which results in her death. The man in Porphyria s Lover is angry and irritated because the woman
he loves will not divorce her husband which also ends with her death. The poems My Last Duchess
and Porphyria s Lover demonstrate two different relationships with women while both men view
women as objects. The men in both poems use possessive language towards the women. Porphyria
s Lover says, that moment she was mine, mine... (Porphyria line 26). This vividly portrays the
man as controlling and overly possessive. He then comes up with a plan to kill her, so he can keep
Porphyria in the moment because he knows he not have a future with her. Similarly, the Dukeviews
his Duchess as his own keepsake and hides the painting of his Duchess behind a curtain so none

Tax Reform Research Paper
Abstract
Recently there has been a significant tax reform, which is tax cuts, claimed by American
president Donald Trump, affects both individuals and families. The U.S. Senate has passed the
tax reform bill 51 to 49, which is the first amendment to the tax law by the U.S. Congress in
approximately 30 years. It is the first major victory Trump has been in power for nearly a year.
The heart of the new tax reform aims to reduce the federal income tax rate for individuals and
businesses. Firstly, this short paper illustrates the most critical aspects of the new tax reforms
(lower rates for individuals, middle class tax cuts, and itemized deductions). Then, the paper

patricianly to prevent commercial inversions; and to avoid aggravating U.S. public debts and
deficits. However, major tax policy research centers and many tax specialists are skeptical of some
of the planned goals for these goals. The next two parts introduce the what the changes will be and
who the most beneficiaries are under the new tax reform circumstance. Most importantly, which is
how these reforms help business and individuals or whether revenues raise or not. The last section
is covered my opinion primarily.
1. Current tax reform v.s. Trump s new tax reform
1. 1. Current tax reform in the U.S. on individual The last major reform of U.S. tax law took
place in 1986. The complaints involved an individual tax rate of 39.6% and a corporate tax rate
of 35%, which led to distortions due to loopholes, exploitation, and the increasing difficulty of
national authorities in taxation. The complexity of transnational corporations in the global context
account of the disorganization and transfer pricing of enterprises. The Internal Revenue Code (
Code ) dictates the tax rates taxpayers apply to taxable income to compute their tax liability. The
current income tax rate structure is a progressive structure the higher the income, the higher the
tax rate that applies. For individual taxpayers, the seven rates currently used seven levels:10%,
15%, 25%, 28%, 33%, 35%, and 39.6% Each taxpayer has a limit of $ 4050 for personal
exemption. If a married couple files a

Machismo In Mexican Culture
Machismo, or male chauvinism, is a concept that characterizes many Latin American male
behaviors, most importantly those associated with masculinity and pride. This concept, most likely
introduced to New Spain by Spanish conquistadors who embodied these traits, was then adopted
and integrated as a part of Mexican culture going forward. Because of male masculinity prevailing
over feminine traits during the 17th century, misogynyand the oppression of women became a norm
in Mexican culture. Struggling to be valued in Mexico, women turned to literature and art to voice
their opinions and expose the machismo in Mexican culture. Through literature and art, is where
feminismin Mexico arose and is continually strengthen in. This paper will discuss the ways in
which Mexican feminist literature and art over time have exposed and challenged machismo,
misogyny, and the Mexican patriarchy since the Spanish Conquest.
One of the most important and controversial figures in Mexican history and literature is La
Malinche. La Malinche, also known as Dona Marina, Malintzin Tenepal or Malinalli, played a
significant role in the Spanish Conquest as translator and political mediator to HernГ n CortГЁz.
Although her importance in the conquest is undeniable, her depiction in literature and as a woman
have been up for debate and the interpretations of her have influenced Mexican feminism. The two
well known interpretations of Malinche s story are polarized interpretations of the historical figure

Illegal immigration will not end, no matter how many solutions the government enforces. However,
I am of the opinion, that there are solutions that can help secure our country s borders. These
solutions include getting rid of sanctuary cities, deporting illegal aliens who have committed
crimes, and putting known illegal aliens through stricter background checks. By doing these few
things, I believe that we can better secure our nation s borders and our citizens safety. I believe that
these are good solutions to the problem of illegal immigrationbecause the intent is to keep people

The Looming Of A Miracle Worker Essay
The Looming Shadow If life could be solved on good intentions alone then the government
would be revered as a miracle worker, unfortunately in reality good intentions are often followed
by those who would seek to profit from them Across American history this trait is a pattern that
has repeated itself numerous of times, from the past century alone good intentions created the
great depression and the savings and Loans collapse. Most recently the new good intention
became low income families, and from it blossomed a thorny rose of a new standard of business
ethics. The intention of assisting low income families started becoming more prevalent under
Bill Clinton s administration, and can traced to 1992 with the creation of the Office of Federal
Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO). In time, from administration to administration while
people either looked away or got paid under the table the remaining ethics of every the American
industry vanished, leaving in its wake a crisis which even today remains as a shadow on the
minds of all Americans. A shadow greater than the one created by the explosion of the USS
Maine in the harbor of Havana, or even the darkness on the day of Pearl Harbor. The reason the
shadow remains is because of that very vanishing ethics, which had created it under the guise of
good intentions starting with OFHEO. In 1992 the Federal Housing Enterprises Financial Safety
and Soundness Act was passed, which was responsible for the creation of the OFHEO

  • 2. The Role Of Dozza Prison In Italy As human beings are weak compared to Jesus, we are easily affected by evil temptations such as greed or anger. Consequently, we have committed crimes or broke rules at least once in our lives and regretted what we did. Even though, breaking rules is natural behavior for us, it is not simple to punish or forgive criminals. Most people claim that laws are the absolute truth or value to punish and judge people who break laws. However, reality is not that simple; there are complexed values such as emotion that cannot be written on the paper. If law was the absolute punishment, no one would feel guilty and struggle after they punished by the laws or would blame others after they finished their punishment. Then, how can we truly forgive ourselves?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This verse exactly depicts the Crime and Punishment s main theme; Love is the way to rehabilitate. Even though she was a sinner, Jesus truly loves her and blesses her. He forgives the woman with true love. This is what we should keep in mind as we are Christian who try to imitate what Jesus did. A strong law and harsh punishment is not the absolute way to make people to rehabilitate; it could be the wall for criminals that blocks the way to the society. Therefore, We should forgive, love and give them one more chance even though they are the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ecology And Plant Ecology In this article examples are going to be discussed of the application of molecular biology in the field of plant ecology, what molecular biology is as well as what plant ecology is. Plant ecology is one of the branches in the scientific field of ecology that mainly focus on plant population and their surroundings (McMahon, 2016). Plant ecologists also look at other factors that have an impact on the plants and their environment. According to the MIT Department of Biology, plant molecular biologyis the study where biological data such as plants genetics, genomes, biochemical and the cell biologics is inserted into computers to understand the development, growth and physiology of plants at a molecular level. The examples that is going to be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Researchers do not just look at the plant but keeps in mind how the plants interact with each other and their environment. A Plant ecologist do not just look at plants but also the soil conditions, animals and other influences that might have an impact on the plants environment. According to McMahon (2016) plant ecology is not just a plant itself but, is everything from understanding the plants environment functions as well as the interaction of humans with the natural environment. The area most focused on in plant ecology is topics like climate change, plant diseases and the symbiotic relationship between plant species and how plants spread in nature (McMahon, 2016). Plant ecology involves a lot of field work because the plant needs to be viewed in their natural habitat to understand why the plant looks like it does. Plant ecology covers a wide range of research for instance the study of plants growing in a specific ecosystem for example the rainforest, or a specific area that is of interest, like a population of plants that is growing next to a polluted river or dam. It can also help researchers to study endangered ecosystems and plant populations including not vascular plants like mosses. Plants make up a very large part of the natural environment. Plants do not just provide people and animals with food but also with shelter for animals, prevents erosion and the most important part is that plants provide us with oxygen (McMahon, ... • 4. An Modern Methodology For Water Treatment Plant Affecting... relationship is described by a collection of fuzzy control rules ( IF THEN RULES) involving linguistic variable [13]. 6.1 METHODOLOGY In this paper we introduce an modern methodology for water treatment plant affecting factors analysis. The proposed expert system manages and explores the knowledge in this specific application by reasoning on a database of facts by means of suitable inference rules. The proposed comprehensive, homogenous framework uses a set of Fuzzy Inference Systems to interpret, standardize and fuse heterogeneous data in order to estimate normalized factors. The FIS for affecting factor analysis is divided into four main components: the fuzzification, knowledge base, Inference engine, and the Defuzzification. Fuzzy logic controller has four components: 1) Fuzzification: It transforms input into suitable linguistic value so that can be compared to the rule in rule base. 2) Knowledge Base: It contains the knowledge in form of a set of rules to control the artificial system. It is the collection of rules. The basic function of rule base is to provide the required information to fuzzification module, the rule base and the defuzzification module. If part is called antecedent and then part is called consequent. 3) Inference Engine: If control rules are relevant then it decides the input to the plant. The Inference system provides the mechanism for invoking or referring to the rule base such that the proper rules are fired on the situation. 4) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of The Essay Salman Rushdie By Scott Russell... Scott Russell Sanders writes an essay to Salman Rushdie explaining his view point on what Salman wrote on how people migrate all over the world. Sanders explains in the essay that people often chase after an idea rather than a place, he believes people cannot stay in one place because they are living for an imaginary world. Sanders uses many techniques in the essay to help get his idea of staying rooted to a location would help society make a better home for themselves. These techniques include metaphors and repetition. Metaphors are used sparingly in this essay but they still add to the idea us human s may be living in the make believe. Our Promised land has always been over the next ridge or at the end of a trail, never under our feet. By saying things like, over the next ridge or end of the trail it makes someone think of fairytale books they might have read while younger because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sanders also uses repetition another time in his essay, The Spaniards devastated central and South America...Colonists bought slavery with them to North America, along with smallpox and Norway rats. The Dust Bowl of the 1930s was not caused by drought but by the transfer onto the Great Plains of farming methods... • 6. Amy Tan s Language In The Immigrant Family It is a well known fact that children acquire language through their environment. From the time of birth, they are exposed to many different phonetics which allow them to shape words and form language. As parents and families utilize specific words as symbols for different concepts and ideas, children learn that they must use these to communicate their desires. This is evident in everyday life, for example those born in different parts of the world, who grow up hearing a predominant language, grow up speaking that language with all of the same particular nuances, slangs and variations that are present. Therefore, Amy Tan s claim that the language spoken in the family, especially in the immigrant families, plays a large role in shaping the language of the child, is definitely viable.... Dow s CEO has been working for four years to transform Dow from a producer of low value, highly cyclical commodity chemicals to a producer of high value, specialty chemicals and advanced materials. Rohm is a perfect match for Dow in respect of the strategic and financial perspective. Dow is also pursuing another key deal with Kuwait s Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) that was supposed to generate $7 billion cash net of tax which could be used to finance acquisition of specialty chemical maker Rohm Haas for $18.8 billion all cash deal. This sensitity is shown in Table . Using the baseline assumptions (WACC=8.5%, growth rate=2%), we arrive at a base equity level without synergies of $46.41 per share. However, this value is quite sensitive to both the WACC and growth rates. The overall spectrum of base values ranges from $27.75/share to $73.42/share, with the baseline assumptions falling squarely in the middle. Table 4: Per Share Equity Value without Syergies Value of the Cost Synergies To be able to recognize the cost synergies, Dow had to incur a one time cost of $1.3 billion spread over two years. Dow also stated that it would take 2 years for them to fully recoginize the cost synergies. We found that $800 million of cost synergies would be worth and additional $32.18 per Rohm and Haas share. Value of the Growth Synergies Growth Synergies are estimated to be between $2B and $2.6B based on expanded market porfolios, increased geographic reach and innovative technologies. We assume that these Growth Synergies would also take two years to completely recognize. • 8. The Pawnee Rangers Essay To demonstrate how this show has managed to weave positive feminist ideals into every aspect of the show, it is not hard to find examples in almost every episode. Truly one of the strongest example of this takes place is the episode The Pawnee Ranger, where Leslie fights the discriminating policies of the males only Pawnee Rangers, which is led by her boss Ron Swanson. They proceed to fight over their rivaling youth camp organizations, with Ron s spartan Pawnee Rangers, who learn to appreciate fishing, camping, and complete silence, up against Leslie s supportive and indulgent Pawnee Goddesses, who practice arts and crafts and self confidence building exercises. • 9. Acute Renal Failure Essay Acute renal failure is the sudden loss of the kidneys ability to function; affecting more than 100,000 people in the United States alone each year (NIDDK, 2008). This paper will discuss the basic pathophysiology of acute renal failure, including its cause, disease mechanisms, symptoms, some of the treatments and pharmacological therapies. Pathophysiology Acute renal failure (ARF) is the rapid loss of kidney function occurring when high levels of uremic toxins accumulate in the blood. ARF occurs when the kidneys are unable to excrete the daily load of toxins in the urine. The most common causes of ARF are dehydration, blood loss from major surgery or injury, or medications such as NSAIDs, antibiotics, or the dyes used in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the kidneys usually start working again within several weeks to months after the underlying cause has been treated. Many people, however, die because of the primary disease that has caused the kidney failure. Studies have estimated overall death rates for AKF at 42 88%, (Krapp, 2002). Up to 10% of patients who experience ARF will suffer irreversible kidney damage. They will eventually go on to develop chronic kidney failure or end stage renal disease. These patients will require long term dialysis or kidney transplantation to replace their lost renal functioning (Krapp, 2002). Clinical manifestations In the beginning stages of ARF, there may not be any symptoms; usually symptoms become noticeable the longer ARF goes undetected or is left untreated. Fatigue is a common symptom due to anemia. Healthy kidneys produce a hormone called erythropoietin that tells the body to make red blood cells. As the kidneys fail, they make less erythropoietin (NIDDK, 2008). With fewer red blood cells to carry oxygen, the body becomes tired very quickly. Some patients experience lower back pain resulting from kidney stones or other obstructions. A big indicator of kidney problems is changes in the urination, including decreased urine output. In addition, the urine might be foamy signifying buildup of protein, or contain blood due to an obstruction. Edema could be present due to the build of fluids within the body (Cadwallader, 2002). It is a serious communicable infection transmitted via respiratory secretion; bacteria moves into the blood circulation (Thomas 1027). There are two types of bacteria which cause most of the meningitis cases, those two are Neisseria Meningitidis and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Each bacterium has its own shape such as the Neisseria meningitidis has a diplococci shape. This shape is described as two spherically shaped bacteria pushed together ( Bacteria Morphology 1). • 15. The Washington Redskins Should Change Their Name The debate about whether or not the Washington Redskins should change their name has been a topic for a long time. Some Native Americans have often considered the name a racial slur and think that the league should get rid of the name as it doesn t represent Native Americans in the best way possible. In 1937 the Redskins moved to Washington and decided to retain the name even though it had faced backlash then. Since then the team has over time shown more caution on using slogans that may disrespect Native Americans. Some slogans they did use include On the Warpath, with a cartoon drawing of an angry Indian, and another called Teepee Talk, featuring a clip art Indian sticking his head out of a tepee (Shapira, 2016, Para.5). There will always be a debate if the team should get rid of its name but for right now Washington s football teams name is the Redskins. In Washington they took a poll asking Native Americans if they were offended by the name Redskins. The poll Showed that 90% of Native Americans did not feel offended by the team name, in fact they thought that it showed respect to their heritage. But on the other hand when they took a poll across the whole nation people were a little more disgruntled with the name as 23% of people wanted the name to be changed. The Post poll also found that 78 percent deemed the Redskins name an issue that is either not too or not at all important (Keim, 2016,Para.5). • 16. Romeo And Juliet Last Scene Essay I chose the last scene of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the death scene of Romeo after he sees Juliet die , as the material I wanted to transform using Grotowski s influence for my solo theatre piece . I felt that this particular scene really involved the use of raw emotion. The general tone of this particular scene is quite somber and dark, as Romeo sees his loved one dead , and there is an overall sense of longing as Romeo relives the moments him and Juliet shared together, as well as longing for their once strong bond and her presence. I decided to write my own monologue from Romeo s perspective based on the scene, and to preserve the main ideas and story of the scene to a large extent, whilst tweaking the original content... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After doing so I decided to take a slightly different perspective on the scene, where as well as outlining the despair of Romeo and the longing he feels for Juliet, I would outline other feelings not explored in the actual scene such as the regret (and possible short term satisfaction) he felt in killing Tybalt and Paris who he felt were tearing them apart. Because of this I felt an emphasis on voice, physicality and raw emotion, which Grotowski pushed to bring out in his theory of Poor Theatre , would suit this scene greatly. In addition, this feeling of regret, anger and hatred he feels after killing the two would enable me to create an uneasy, dark atmosphere for the piece. I read a monologue based on the last scene and used it as a stimulus for my devised monologue . I also watched a theatre production on YouTube based on that very scene of Romeo and Juliet to understand the story better while developing further ideas about how to form the piece. This was a dark interpretation of the last scene, and it helped me form the idea of setting the play in a graveyard where Juliet was buried while I addressed her as if she was alive and reindulged in Romeo s memories with ... Frequent transistor switching caused due to large IR voltage drops gives raise to timing violations and logic failures. A new clock control strategy is been introduced in this paper such that the simultaneous switching of the combinational paths is minimized. This is achieved by clustering the delay slacks having similar slack values. Once the paths are identified based on the path delays and their slack values the clustering algorithm determines the path to clusters in a load balanced manner based on the slack values and each cluster will have a phase shift possible on its clock depending on the slack. INTRODUCTION Low power has emerged as a major goal in today s electronics industry. The motivations for reducing power consumption differ from application to application. For high performance, portable computers, such as laptop and notebook computers, the goal is to reduce the power dissipation of the electronics portion of the system to a point that is about half of the total power dissipation (including that of display and hard disk). • 21. The Effect Of Chemical Reactions On The Rate Of Reaction A chemical reaction is the interaction of two or more chemicals that produces a new chemical compound, most reactions require an increase in temperature, pressure, surface area, concentration or the inclusion of a catalysts to speed up the rate of reaction. Chemical reactions can be found in everyday life, without many of us knowing. Either it be a soluble tablet in water, or photosynthesis in a plant. The prerequisites for a reaction are known as the Collision Theory . As stated by M. Ferguson (2016), For a reaction to occur, particles must collide, with sufficient energy(also known as activation energy) in the correct orientation to break the existing bonds between the particles . There are many factors that influence the rate of reaction, these include: an increase in, temperature, concentration, surface area (SA), pressure and a catalyst. When a gas, liquid or solid solution is heated, the molecules of that particular chemical gain kinetic energy, and thus move faster, allowing for more frequent and successful collisions. This allows for the product to be formed much faster than if the molecules had less kinetic energy. If the concentration of a solution has increased, there will be more molecules in the same volume, which allows for the molecules to collide more frequently. This process speeds up the rate of reaction more so, than if there were fewer molecules in the same volume. An increase in surface area of a solid substance allows for an increase in rate of ... Burke Heights Greenbush vs. Burke Heights This report will be on the research I have discovered first hand as well as through statistical data that compares and contrasts the neighborhoods of Greenbush and Burke Heights, both located in Madison, Wisconsin. When researching these two neighborhoods, I focused on the neighborhoods housing statistics, demographics of their residents, and the money circulating within the neighborhoods. Another aspect I paid attention to while comparing the neighborhoods was the economic and employment opportunities available within the communities. These benefits directly correlate to the amount of capital that is available for residents. Lastly, I took note of the entertainment, retail, and physical possibilities that prevailed in these neighborhoods. The first subject I will compare is the housing within each neighborhood. First, in the Greenbush neighborhood, the majority of people are either college students or young adults between the ages of twenty and thirty two. It was obvious this age group lived in these homes seeing the dГ©cor on the front porches and the cars in the driveways. The average household income ranges between seventy and eighty five thousand dollars per year (StatisticalAtlas). Jane Austen s novel is principally concerned with the social fabric of late eighteenth and early nineteenth century England, a patriarchal society in which men held the economic and social power. In an often satirical portrait of the men and women attempting to gain a livelihood, Austen ironically points out faults in the system, raising questions about the values of English society and the power structure of the country. The novel is also engaged in an ideological debate that drives its plot and defines the essence of its main character. Some of the Irish tunes, though perhaps honestly expressive of the flawed human heart, may stray a little far. Since a common theme in traditional Irish music (and arguably, most genres of music) is romantic interest, it is not uncommon to hear infidelity eluded to or spoken of directly in a ballad like Ride On (Celtic Women Destiny ). In a version sung by the music group Celtic Women, the down trodden melody mentions a suggestive line at least once in the course of its lyrics (Celtic Woman Destiny ). People s objections to this is are understandable and perfectly legitimate. However, one could argue that this music can still be enjoyed, it just requires discretion. Due to the many depressing topics featured in Irish music, people may be less inclined to absorb the sense of emanating sadness which the songs convey. It is true that many Irish melodies seem to be a bit dark or sad, in part to their slower, more dramatic pace. There are, however, pieces of Irish music which many times employ the use of the fiddle. Spirited Awaydraws upon many mythic themes, and the ones that I will be talking about are Symbolism and Sacred Spaces. One of the symbols that we are first introduced to in Spirited Away is water. When our hero starts to transition into the world of spirits, something happens off screen. Water suddenly blocks the tunnel that connects the human world and the spirit world. Water also appears to magically surround the perimeter of the bathhouse at its base. Water is also used in the bathhouse to rejuvenate and cleanse spirits that enter. And finally, water comes up again when we see a flashback of what seems to be Chihiro drowning in a river. So what s up with water? Well, throughout the film, water is used to symbolize freedom and captivity. It serves as a literal object that blocks Chihiro s path back to the human world, and also limits movement around the spirit world (we see that Chihiro has to utilize a train system in order to move around the spirit world freely). However, water isn t all that bad. In the scene where Chihiro is faced with the responsibility to clean the stink spirit, inordinate amounts of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Effects Of Captive Enrichment On Fish Production Essay Effects of Captive Enrichment on Fish Production: Fathead Minnows (Pimephales promelas) Introduction Environmental enrichment for fish in captive environments has not been studied often, unlike that of mammals. However, in the last decade there have been more attempts to study it. Moreover, structural environmental enrichment is the focal point at this time. Structural environmental enrichment is the addition of a structure (e.g. toys, buoys, artificial vegetation) to the rearing environment (Naslund Johnsson, 2014). Enrichment can affect a variety of aspects of the biology of captive fish, such as, stress, injury, disease susceptibility, aggression, and energy expenditure (Gerber et al., 2015)). A recent study conducted by Naslund and Johnsson (2014), found that environmental enrichment can be divided into groups. These groups include: physical enrichment, sensory enrichment, dietary enrichment, social enrichment, and occupational enrichment. Since, some of those are difficult to test, physical enrichment is what is being studied now. All species of fish are not the same and prefer certain substrates rather than others. Therefore, since the Fathead Minnows that we will be studying and conducting this research on, will depend on what they prefer. The goal of this study is to test whether captive enrichment effects the reproduction success of P. promelas. • 35. Nutrition for Sport Introduction An athlete needs to ensure that they consume enough fuel to complete activities undertaken. The amount of energy required depends on many factors including size and weight of the athlete, level and intensity of the training, and due to this the amount of energy required varies from person to person. However if more energy is consumed than required, the excess is stored as fat and weight will increase, on the other hand if insufficient energy is consumed the body calls upon its stores to meet the demand and weight will be lost. To consume a balanced diet we need to consume items from the macro and micro nutrient groups. Macronutrients comprise of carbohydrates, lipids and protein. Female Tennis Player The athletes calorie requirements need to be worked out what is required every day before any training is added in. To do this the same calculation was made as the female runner, except instead of 8.7 x kg it is 14.7 x kg and 496 is added instead of 829, this is because this athlete is in a different age group. Again activity requirement is taken into consideration, at 450 calories an hour, and as exact training figures are not available it has been estimated at 6 hours training a week, which then works out as an extra 2700 calories a week. This figure is then divided by 7 to give the extra calories needed each day. So this athlete needs a total of 3384 calories a day to maintain her current stature. Again the daily allowance needs to be divided between the macronutrients. According to National Institute of Nutrition (2007) this athlete needs CHO:Lipids:Protein at 60:25:15. Once again the calories are converted into grams. See Appendix 1. Using this information there was a deficit across the board, see Appendix 2. • 37. Relationship Between Mesopotamian And Greek Gods Throughout their histories, religion has played a central role in Mesopotamian and Greek culture. Both peoples built mighty temples and made countless sacrifices in the name of their gods, but the exact nature of their relationships with their gods remains a mystery. Historians are left to guess at their customs and traditions from the works they left behind such as Homer s epic poem The Illiad and the anonymous epic poem the Epic of Gilgamesh. From these texts, it becomes apparent that the Mesopotamians relationship with their gods was one founded on a sense of respect while the Greeks was one rooted in fear. Correspondingly, the Mesopotamian gods are more restrained and nurturing in their interactions with humans while the Greek gods are brash and patronizing, though neither set of gods is greatly concerned with the wellbeing of mortals. In both cultures, humans and gods share an undeniable connection in their range and expression of emotion. As such, though Mesopotamians and Greeks take different approaches to interaction with their gods and vice versa, the relationship between humans and gods is fundamentally the same in both cultures. From the human perspective, the Mesopotamians and Greeks share a strong sense of reverence for their gods. They make regular sacrifices and hold their gods in the highest esteem, but these sentiments come from different places. The Greeks act primarily out of fear while the Mesopotamians act more out of a notion of respect. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sarkar Abstract Rivers are the blessing on earth as they serve humans with ample fresh water supply. The purpose of the present study focuses on the combination of the GIS mapping, to indicate the status of pollution status in the sketch of River Mouri, downstream to the wastewater outfalls. The GIS mapping of the eleven wastewater study parameters reveals that the high concentrations of BOD5, COD, DO, Color, Turbidity, TDS and TSS exceeding the permissible limits is present throughout the study portion of the river. In addition, it highlighted the portions where only few parameters such as PH, Chloride, Nitrate and Sulphate are deteriorating the riverine ecosystem. The GIS application in pollutant load assessment of the study further indicates that although few pollutants, discharged into river are relatively low in concentrations at one wastewater outfall point as compared to other but may have high pollutant load that may leads to significantly higher ecological impacts. The possible application of this study is for the decision makers to introduce optimum treatment engineering controls at points of interests, prior to its disposal into River Mouri to prevent the ecological damages and protect human health. Reflection On Managing A Team In the past I have worked for some really good managers and some not so good ones, however, what I realized is that while they may have done the basic requirements to manage the people under them, they did not do so efficiently and effectively. This is something that pricked me and then I realised that I needed to learn and overcome this shortcoming and manage my team in a more effective and efficient way. When this course was offered for the first time in our program it grabbed my attention as it fit perfectly in what I wanted to tailor within myself as a future manager. These are my learnings and how I wish to reform myself. Our first class focused on Forming Teams and Introductions It started in a very friendly manner and through an introductory exercise, every individual had to talk spontaneously about their positive qualities and how each of us could benefit from the other and bring the same to the team. For me the question, what each individual could add to the team really stood out because everyone had something unique to say about themselves and I will certainly use it in the future while forming teams. Later, we had a small team exercise of making 15 paper airplane and this exercise taught us the Forming part of the team model that is how to adapt quickly in a new team, help each other and come up with a solution.
