Holden Caulfield Sociology
The book is narrated by the main character, Holden Caulfield, while he is in a mental hospital or
a sanitarium of an unspecified location. The book is set around the 1950 s while Holden is
sixteen years old. The narration begins on Saturday after classes end in the school, Pencey Prep
school, in which Holden attends. Pencey is Agerstown, Pennsylvania and Holden has failed four
out of five classes leading to his expulsion. Pencey is the fourth school that Holden has been
expelled out of because of him failing classes. Currently watching a sporting event on top of a
nearby hill that is overlooking the field of play, Holden decides to visit his history teacher,
Spencer, that he is fond of. While he does go there, Holden does not stay long because

Health Insurance Claims
In order to process health insurance claims there are two standard forms. The CMS 1500 Claim
Form, this billing method is used for physician and supplier services (ex: specialists, dentists,
ophthalmologists, durable medical equipment) and the CMS 1450 Claim Form (UB 04), used
by hospitals, rehabilitation centers, clinics, and ambulatory surgery centers to process both
inpatient and outpatient services (ex: medical expenses [bed pans/pads], x rays). Over many
years updates were made for each form with numerous changes being made, so any old forms
should be discarded to prevent denial of a claim. Both forms are used for Medicare, Medicaid, and
many commercial third party payer claims. Paper claim forms are still in use today on the brink of

Personal Narrative Personal Experience
Tears streaming down my sweat drenched face like Niagara Falls, numbed by the pain of a
million knives stabbing into the upper back part of my leg, I had discovered I pulled my
hamstring. Lower limbs [being] accounted for 50% of all sports injuries (Dhillion) it didn t come
as a surprise to the trainer. Unable to move, I was shocked by the pain and situation I had just been
put in. My entire wrestlingcareer flashed before my eyes as I took a big gulp and climbed on my

The Endangered Species Act Is A Good Thing
A world without animals is a scary thought. There are many animals that will become extinct and
many that are endangered. The Endangered Species Act is a good thing because it has provided a
set way in helping to protect different species. The Endangered Species Act was signed by past
president Richard Nixon, and it was passed with 99% support from Congress. They wanted to
protect different species no matter what. Between 40% 50% of endangered speciesin the U.S. have
made improvement, but others are moving toward extinction. The law has helped in the rebirth of
36 species, but a similar number has disappeared. The mixed record on restoration and the impact it
has on business has turned the ESA into a one sided playing field (Male). There are ways humans
contribute to species of endangerment by destroying habitats, the introduction of exotic species and
hunting. Natural causes such as global warmingare another factor that has contributed to species
endangerment. The Endangered Species Act has helped to save animals such as the american
alligator, the bald eagle, grizzly bears and many others. It is used to prohibit the hunting of these
animals. The Endangered Species Act has some negative impacts so there are people who are in
support of the while others are not. It could be more effectively enforced by encouraging people to
minimize harm to animals and to participate in recovery projects. These recovery projects are being
used to help protect endangered species. The

Regulating Food Labels
Food labels were made to be a helpful tool for the average customer, but over time they have
become hard to understand and a secret that food companies are hiding behind. The Food and
Drug Administration, also known as the FDA, are in charge of making sure food labels are easy to
read and understand for the consumers. But when they are doing the inspections, they turn a blind
eye to the labelbecause the companies are bribing them to. The FDA has made some acts, such as
FD C and the Fair packaging and Labeling Act, to prevent these loopholes from happening. The FD
C Act stands for Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. This act started in 1938 when Congress
passed down the authority of overseeing the safety of food, drugs, and cosmetics. Another... Show

These loopholes aren t as big as others, for instance using pink slime instead of meat, but they are
significant to the consumers health. One of the major ways to get around these rules is by putting
sugar into different names, One of the most common tricks is to distribute sugars among many
ingredients so that sugars don t appear in the top three. For example, a manufacturer may use a
combination of sucrose, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup solids, brown sugar, dextrose and
other sugar ingredients to make sure none of them are present in large enough quantities to attain
a top position on the ingredients list(remember, the ingredients are listed in order of their
proportion in the food, with the most common ingredients listed first). (Zerbo s Health Foods).
Normal customers do not understand the difference and believe that their food is healthy
because that is what the label tells them to believe. This connects back to the FPLA Act not
being strict enough because it is not against the rules to list the ingredients separate like they do
with sugar. Furthermore food companies are making other loopholes by not telling the FDA what
is exactly in the food that they are producing. Their is a 57 year old law that states the if a
ingredient is recognized as safe, then the company does not need to inform the FDA if they do not
want to, accessed on The Center for Public

Who Should Determine The Destiny Of Tana River Communities
Who Should Determine the Destiny of Tana River Communities in 2017?
Tana River is a multi ethnic County that is gifted with abundant natural resource wealth, which
includes, among others water sources, fertile land, beautiful beaches, forests and wild game. These
resources have never been fully exploited in favour of the communities in the County. Since
independence, the successive governments deliberately renounced to listen to the plight of the
communities by yielding insignificant attention by not prioritizing Tana River Districtin their
community empowerment and development agendas the dark days of the single party dictatorship.
More so, the aspects of poor leadership from some of the previous government and political
officials, who behaved in a servile manner, and the unwarranted internal ethnic acrimonies have
endorsed the current contemptible state of the County. Consequently, the County is marred by poor
infrastructure, dilapidated and non existence (in some areas) of health facilities, impoverished
communities, insecurity, virtually non existence of clean water and sanitation facilities, low
education standards among others. In five words, therefore, we can confidently state that, These
communities have been marginalized, and if the status quo remains, procreation of marginalized
offspring is inescapable. So, what promise has been enshrined in the promulgated constitution in
relation to the predicaments prescribed above?

Explain The Purpose Of An Operating System
Explain the purpose of an Operating System: Operating Systems manage hardware and provide
services for application software; this means that it makes it easier for users to interact with
different software and hardware available on the computer. The most common operating systems
are Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. While each OS is different, they all provide a graphical
user interface GUI a GUI allows users to click and drag objects with a mouse instead of entering
text at a command line. Characteristics of an Operating System: Multi User allows multiple users
to use the same computer at the same time or different times. The most common and most well
known OS that use s multi user is Windows 7. Multitasking is performing more than one task at
the same time, a task being a program. Multiprocessing is the support of more than one processor
at the same time. Applications in a multi processing system are broken into smaller routines that
run by themselves. Multithreading is the operating system process to manage its use by more than
one user at a time or manage multiple tasks by the same user without having the need of multiple
copies of the program running on the computer. GUI (Graphical User Interface) allows users to
click and drag objects with a mouse instead of entering text at a command line. A GUI uses
windows, icons, and menus to carry out commands for instance opening files, deleting files, and
moving files. Main four functions of an Operating System: Control

An Extension Of The Activities Essay
Research is a systematic, precise and rigorous inquiry or investigation that allows people to
understand the nature of a problem or idea (Grossoehme, 2014; Stringer, 2014). All research can
be visualised as an extension of the activities we engage in day by day, which requires one to
move past the day to day understandings and engage in a more precise and rigorous description,
observation or explanation of the problem or idea (Stringer, 2014).
The general distinction between qualitative and quantitative research is that quantitative research
uses empirical data in the form of numbers, while qualitative research uses empirical data that is not
in the form of numbers, usually words, but there is much more to the research designs than their
use of numerical data or not (Stringer, 2014; Punch, 2009). Qualitative research is associated with
research conducted in the social world, as opposed to quantitative research which focuses on
predicting and controlling phenomena on the physical world, and both have their own way of
thinking and approaches to research and collecting their data (Stringer, 2014, Punch, 2009). For the
purpose of this assignment we will look into the ideas, thinking and approaches of two qualitative
research designs; grounded theory and action research.
Grounded theory
Grounded theory is both a strategy of research and a style of analysis that uses the procedures to
develop a theory grounded in the data, using an inductive, theory discovery method, whose

Speech About Thanksgiving Dinner
Thank you for the Thanksgiving dinner last night! That was a really great dinner. I enjoyed it a
lot. Sorry for interrupting your conversation to go home early last night. I usually go to bed
around 11 pm and wake up at 6:30, so 10 pm was a bit late for me. That was fun to learn how
Chinese think about their government. I have some friends (and my first roommate) from there. A
few of them are just like Pengcheng, knowing almost nothing about how the government works
(especially those not coming from the coastline cities). But my friends from larger cities, like
Wuhan or Beijing, prefer democracy better. They never use reasons like Chinais too big to have
democracy to rebut the idea, and they often times complain about human rights in China

Canadian Mining Effects
Within todays society there are many things that are swept under the rug and are not acknowledged.
The Canadian mining industries may not affect Canadian citizens, however, the affects that
Canadian Mining causes is a major issue in many areas of the world. The effects of Canadian
mining vary from direct effect on the work environment, serious environment harm as well as the
effects on the people of the land. Lives are at risk and being taken daily by Canadian miningin south
America, however the awareness that it should have has not been acknowledged.
Grahame Russell who is the director of Rights Action gives insight on how people are being treated
and affected by the mining being done to their land. Certain areas that have been affected by
Canadian Mining industries are Guatemala and Honduras, the people their have be exposed to
poverty, illnesses, pollution, racism towards the poor, government repression, not enough work and
many other aspects. The corrupt government of these countries turn a blind eye to their people, the
Canadian government still choses to do businesses in these corrupt areas. The severe issues that

Comparing Tristram To Isolt And The Love-Drink
In love stories like Romeo and Juliet, the main theme in the story is that sometimes love is worth
dying for if it is true and pure, and Shakespeare focused on writing a play in which that theme
was made obvious. In the case of Tristan and Iseult, there are many versions of their love story.
Most versions result in their deaths because they cannot live without the other; however, some
versions leave one of the two alive. Although there are many different versions, they all tell a story
similar to the ones before it. In Tristram to Isolt and The Love Drink, both authors tell the story of
Tristan and Iseult, yet both have differences like their plot and diction in order to emphasize
different, distinct themes. Both stories use a different plot scheme which highlights the different
themes that each author hoped to draw attention to. The Love Drink by Sally Bridges mainly
emphasizes the moment when Iseultand Tristan drink from the bottle and fall in love with each
other; Tristram to Isolt by Madison J. Cawein is a story in which Tristan talks to Iseult after she is
dead. Both stories focus on different parts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cawein s Tristram to Isolt uses words which imply death that create an idea in the reader s mind
that the love between Tristan and Iseult is deadly and poisonous which is exactly the theme that
Cawin tries to focus on. Among these words are lines like a thing of Hell and sweet sin which
sound as if Tristan is calling his love for Iseult toxic (Cawein). The theme of love being morbid to
those with a faint grip on reality is pulled out through the way Cawein seemingly makes Tristan a
guy who loved a girl he knew would inevitably ruin his

Once the assessment has been done, whatever it is that needs to be done to help the students
improve should be incorporated into the lesson. This does not mean that everyone will be on the
same level however, it does show the teacher is doing what he/she needs to in order to help the
student. If necessary as well, the teacher can separate students into small groups with each other
and create assessments this way as well. Assessments are reliable and, they can motivate students to
want to learn.

Organic Farming Chapter Summary
This chapter was about the struggle of living with locally grown food and cloth diapers. Colin
Beavan got in touch with some foodies and asked what they did for eating environmentally
conscience. And Colin and his wife found other activities to do during their normal TV time, like
preparing ingredients for their meals and spending time with their friends. Colin even went as far
as to visit the farm that he gets his milk from just to see if the farmer s ideals lined up with his.
This chapter brought up a good point about the antibiotics regulations for organic farming. As
someone who was once a member of 4 H if you are planning on raising market animals the
healthier the animal is the better. So when the USDA set the no antibiotics standard for market
animals to be considered organic is unrealistic because in order to have a shot at raising healthy
animals they need to get shots to keep them from getting sick. And this doesn t just apply to 4 H,
it applies to commercial farms too and that s why some of them treat their animals so badly.
Commercial farms try to follow the USDA rules but aren t making enough money to keep their
animals healthy so when they get sick the animals are hurriedly pushed to get well without the
use of vet care, because that s money that they could use to buy more animals instead of trying to
care for the ones they have. This doesn t condone the methods the commercial farms use but it is
easier to care for the animals better when you are a 4 H er and raising 1 3 animals per year as
opposed to a factory farm raising 60 70 animals per year.

According to Bromund, the Brexit vote was a landmark in Britain s ability to regain its sovereignty
and regulate its own domestic and foreign policies.
Iain Murray began by explaining that the laws and regulations of the EU constitute a knot, one that
the British must untangle itself from. According to Murray, Brexit could prove to be a disaster
depending on how the British government chooses to move forward. He stated that for Brexit to be
a success, the new British government must set out the vision of an open and welcoming UK,
which means open trade and markets with the entire world. The British Government must invoke
Article 50 of the Treaty of the European Union as a matter of adherence to international law, which
will begin negotiations between the UK and the European Council regarding the withdrawal.
Murray remarked that these negotiations will include the phasing out of the application of EU
programs to the UK, the status of trade arrangements with third parties, and the status of UK and
EU nationals resident in the other jurisdictions. Domestically, he suggested repealing undesirable
EU laws and regulations, while keeping the regulations of value. Murray proposed a Royal
Commission on Regulatory Reduction with the targets of reducing EU generated regulation by
25%, suspecting it could reduce regulations significantly within five years of Brexit. He signified
that the UK cannot apply for membership to the EEA because it brings with it a significant

Human Sexuality Assignment At its core, Great By Choice is a deep exploration of what
distinguishes top performers from their peers during times of chaos, crisis, instability and
uncertainty. Rigorous in its approach but practical in its presentation, Great By Choice to me
seems like the perfect handbook for college seniors such as myself. In tackling the question of
what distinguishes top performers in times of uncertainty, the authors first define what exactly a

Basically a forward thinking individual who understands that slow and steady wins the race
who is armed with patience, drive, and the ability to sell their dream to others is needed to
obtain success before anything else. According to Collins the fire bullets, then cannonballs
approach is the best way to explain the success of large companies. The concept is sort of an
homage to the days before automatic handguns. It takes a lot less gunpowder to fire a bullet than
a cannonball, so it is more effective and plausible to start a battle with bullets; and once enough
time has been spent preparing for the big finish then a cannonball can and should be fired. A
bullet is a low distraction, low risk, and low cost test or experiement. There are two types of
cannonballs, uncalibrated and calibrated. A calibrated cannonball is an idea or concept that is
backed by evidence, or in this case empirical validation. A uncalibrated cannonball, in more or less
words, is when one places all their eggs in one basket without taking the time to obtain empirical
validation. Again, slow and steady wins the race. Intel s founders believed that innovation without
discipline leads to disaster. This means having the patience to cultivate, check and double check an
idea to make certain it can be executed and delivered. With this patience one must take it upon
themselves to figure out what will and will not work. There is no way to predict the future,

Effects Of Amendment 2 On The State Florida
Has anyone done any research on what the effects Amendment 2 would have on the state Florida?
Well the opposition clearly did not do any research and the politicians used smooth talking fallacies
to blind side the voters. It is time to see the holes in their stance on medical marijuana.
The Smokescreen as defined by the author Joe Cardona from the Miami Herald, is the lack of
liability Amendment 2 brought to the table when it hit the polls in October. His meaning behind
this is because a medical marijuana user would not be receiving a prescription from a trained
medical physician. Instead, they would be receiving a referral for a license to receive treatment
and they would have it forever. Also as part of Joe Cardona s Smokescreen theory, because the fact
that Amendment 2 is a constitutional amendment that there would have been no way to tweak or
amended it, like a legislative law would. So regulating the consumption of medical marijuana would
be impossible. (Cardona, 2014)
Unfortunately he is not the only one to interpret Amendment 2 this way. Dr. Rafael Miguel,
director of the Sarasota Memorial Institute for Advanced Medicine s Pain Medicine Program and
representatives for Drug Free America. He states that You don t get refills, you get it forever. There
s no regulation on consumption. (Gillin, 2014)
These bold statements were completely wrong and very misinforming. The referral would also

Critics have said that is one of Pite best work. Dark Matters is as much a study of the human
condition, and of the violence in nature especially our own natures. This dance tiptoes along the
edge of hysteria, describing our clammy response to the unknown. (Johnson). Dark Matters
explores violent behavior and how all each person deals with their state of mind differently.
However, there are some critics who believe the movement is unrealistic. The movement lacks
gravity because of constant rolls and drifts in the body. The dancers in Kidd Pivot Frankfurt RM s
new performance, Dark Matters, at the Newmark Theatre, seem entirely unencumbered by the
laws of physics. Their bodies float through space and slide and roll across the ground like they
ve never known gravity or friction. (Scott). It is obvious that their movements took a lot of
structure and discipline to perform. Furthermore, the ending is what took everyone by surprise.
This piece ended in a duet that was full on puppet like qualities. The movement was constant and
repetitive like someone was pulling the strings to control them. The evening ends with a duet that
s both puppet like and divinely human. Taken with everything that came before it, you re left
thinking about manipulation of every kind, and power, to the extent that anyone has it. And that
itself is powerful stuff. (Wisener). The ending left everyone in awe. It was tragic when the male
lead died from a broken heart. In the end the female lead began to pick at the dead man heart.
This part was inhumane because she was sewing his heart back together hoping that he would
come back to life. (Dark Matters). Overall, great performance. Pite did a good job at imagining
how she wanted her choreography and vision to come

contributions; the book has literary features; irony, fun, penetrating, unsettling and extremely
beautiful theme that people found undeniably striking.
Discussion
Spark witnessed the disturbing propaganda of wartime, experiencing gloomy delicacies and
powerful language of the time inaction. Her writing shows reflection of human aptitudes and this is

Racial Diversity In Movies
change. This is showing a failure in success for movie productions and TV shows because as time
goes by so do people who have higher expectations for Hollywood. People begin to see that they
are not showing enough diversity in movies or selecting Award winners that are from a different
minority that makes it lose thousands of people from watching the show which is a failure money
wise. To conclude, whitewashing has been another main problem in the Filmindustries as more
movies come out with more diverse characters they are not always played by the type of minority
the character is supposed to be.
Researchers have stated that if things were to change within the TV productions then maybe there
could be a change financially. There are many statistics that show that many shows and movies
do not seem to grow and researchers have stated that it could be because of the lack of diversity
that many people may get bothered by. However, the 25 movies with casts 21 to 30 percent Black

The next highest median global box office came from films with 11 to 20 percent Blacks/Latinos
/Asians, at $75.5 million. The 88 films with the least diverse casts had a median global box office
of just $68.5 million (Lin). This shows that if TV shows and movies were to change the racial
diversity in their shows or movies that they could possibly have a high positive effect instead of
continuing not to grow. The research

Industrialization Expansion in Russia and Japan Essay
Much of Western Europe quickly industrialized after Great Britain. If they did not, they were
immediately outclassed by the British in trade and military strength. Industrialization made good
use of the natural resources in a state. Some nations industrialized a while after Great Britain and
were falling behind. Two of these states were Russia and Japan. These countries experienced change
in governments, economic power, and social structure as a result of industrialization. Yet, these
states went through their industrializations in very different ways than each other. Russia,
industrialized as a result of many peasant revolts. The revolts led to the emancipation of the serfs in

The concentration of power into the emperor s hands led to many changes in the government of
Japan. The samurai class was quickly abolished, a national army was formed, political parties
formed, an upper House of Peers and lower House of Diet were formed, and a constitution was
drafted. Russia was very agriculturally based and did not have the sufficient technology to
industrialize. States could industrialize when an efficient agricultural system was implemented to
provide sufficient food for the factory workers that did not have land to farm. It is the trend seen
from the beginning of civilization. Trade specialization can only occur with a surplus of food.
Therefore, the first step for Russia, on its way to industrialization, was to become more efficient
at farming. This was achieved with the emancipation of the serfs. Still without a middle class, the
government played a strong role in the early decisions with industrialization. The tsar during this
time, Alexander II, had a great railroad network created that allowed for more efficient use of
Russia s plentiful natural resources. With the change of government in Japan, economic change
soon followed. Banks were founded to invest in capital, railways and steam boats were developed,
restrictions on trade such as tariffs and guilds were removed, and land was re distributed. These
reforms helped spur the Industrial

Take a Step Back Into Yesterday with The Sultan
The Sultan is far from being an ordinary hotel as it is built entirely based on Singapore s unique
and rich history. From carefully conserving the hotel s structure to be of what it was back in the
1800s to the design of the hotel that focuses on a specific era, The Sultan gives its guests a little
taste of the old Singapore charm with a modern touch.
History All Around
Situated in one of Singapore s historical sites, Kampong Glam was one of the early major projects
initiated by the British designated for the then Sultan (a Muslim sovereign) and the Muslim
community. Here, they built a palace to house the Sultan, school and also the iconic mosque today
known as the Sultan Mosque. In the 1900s, Kampong Glam saw a rise in commercial activities and
expanded by building new shop houses and residential buildings. Soon, the community got bigger
with the inclusion of the Chinese and Indians.
The Sultan Project
This miniature version of The Sultan shows the top view of the entire hotel. It has an interesting
structure with some parts of the building varying in size. This is because The Sultan is actually
made up of ten conservation shop houses that has been carefully joined to become one big
structural wonder. Each individual shop house has been salvaged and restored to its original state.

A Patriotic Hero- The Contrast
Royall Tyler was an intelligent man, that although he wasn t specifically interested in writing
dramatic fiction, has been claimed as the first to ever create an authentic American play. His
ability to write clearly and professionally allowed the first American play to become a huge hit in
it s time and still stands as one of the best dramas to read and watch today. This is seen in a
comment made by Amanda Dollack, this play offers a fantastic glimpse into the American culture
during Tyler s time, while being universal enough to still be relevant even in our day. We can all
relate to the characters and know people in our own lives who resemble these characters (Dollack
Web.). The dramatic composition The Contrast shows the audience a detailed connection to the
historical background of early America and the influence of countries upon America and the
citizens views of such.
Ever since the making of the colonies of America, large city areas such as New York and
Massachusets were idiolized as America s industrial and fashion capitals of the U.S. As such,
influences from Great Britain and France were strong compared to other places in America. The
Contrast shows how strongly an impact other countries had on America within the cities and how
patriotism was slightly lacking. This was shown in the fashion of the ladies (Letitia and Charlotte),
contrast of a city man (Jessamy) versus a man from the country (Jonathan), and the actions and
words of a man well traveled (Mr.

In maternal child health in the United States and feasibly throughout the world, preterm birth is
currently the most important problem and is the most significant challenge to modern obstetrics.
According to the World Health Organization, a preterm birth is defined as birth before 37
completed weeks of gestation. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2014) estimated
that 1 in 9 infants born in United States are preterm babies. Preterm related reasons of death
together accounted for 35% of all infant deaths in 2010, more than any other single cause.
Preterm birth is also a foremost cause of long term neurological disabilities in children. Preterm
birth costs the U.S. health care system more than $26 billion in 2005 (CDC, 2014). Preterm birth
is a condition triggered by several etiologies, one of which is a drop in progesterone action, which
makes cervical ripening. A sonographic short cervix(identified in the midtrimester) is a dominant

Quentin then asked why she wanted to borrow the car, she then responded saying she had to do

needed: Vaseline, six pack Mountain Dew, one dozen Tulips, one bottle of water, tissues, and
one can of blue spray paint. The reason Margo needed that stuff was because she was trying to
get revenge on her friends and ex boyfriend. Why?, Because he was cheating on her with another
girl and her friends knew all along and they didn t even think of telling Margo that he was
cheating on her. I think the theme of this book is, to get revenge on people for not telling you
bad things so later on they won t hurt you, like in this case Margo s ex boyfriend. I think this is
the theme because if Margo s friends have told her sooner, she wouldn t of been doing this to all
her friends and her ex boyfriend. The conflict is mostly Man Vs. Society like as Quentin tries to
solve the clues she left and finding her. It s also Man Vs. Society as Quentin is trying to find
Margo because she disappeared and he feels guilty. Since my book was made into a movie, I would

Myoglobin In Aquatic Mammals
Unlike a terrestrial habitat, an aquatic habitat is surrounded by dense water that only contains a low
concentration of dissolved oxygen. This low concentration of oxygen varies in other aquatic
habitats. For example, pools have less oxygen content than riffles of streams. Even though both
terrestrial and aquatic mammals share the same gas exchange system aquatic mammals have well
adapted to the aquatic habitat so survive. Aquatic mammals possess a protein called myoglobin,
which is a protein that stores oxygenand is found in the skeletal muscles . When diving mammals
such as dolphins dive, oxygen to the important organs is limited. The myoglobin present in aquatic
mammals is different to the myoglobin present in terrestrial mammals such as... Show more content

This means that they are not limited to living only in an aquatic habitat or a terrestrial habitat
unlike fish. Fish can only live in an aquatic habitat and have no special adaptations to live in a
terrestrial habitat. A fish s gas exchange system requires water to support the fish s filaments and
to hold the lamellae apart so that surface area can be kept large. If a fish were to live in a
terrestrial habitat they would be permanently exposed to air. This air would then make the
filaments and the lamellae stick together which would then greatly decrease the surface area to
volume ratio. As a result, the efficiency of gases diffusing would reduce. Fish s gills would
desiccate without the water to keep them moist so the respiratory gases would not be able to
dissolve so it can diffuse into the blood. However, due to the process of counter current flow, fish
can take in more of the oxygen that is in water. This leads to a greatly efficient gas exchange.
Mammals can avoid desiccation of their gas exchange system as the air they breathe in is warmed
and moistened by the nasal passages as it enters the nostrils and the mouth. This allows the
mammals to live in terrestrial or aquatic

Cultural Issues Of International Business
Culture can be defined as the sum total of the beliefs, rules, techniques, institutions, and artefacts
that characterize human populations (Ball et al, 1999 p.258). Sociologist generally talk about a
socialization process referring to the influence of social groups upon an individual, and the
interaction of that individual with other members of society. Key elements of cultureinclude
language, religion, values, attitudes, customs and norms of a group or society. Cultural issues
present a significant challenge to businesses; particularly international businesses. This is because
businesses involve people. Every business employs people, sells to people, buys from people, and is
owned and regulated by people. International people involve people from different national cultures
these cultures affect every aspect of business functions, including but not limited to: recruiting and
managing a workforce, marketing and distribution, purchasing of raw materials, dealing with
regulators, and securing funds. The challenges that cultural issues present to international business
is that of creating and nurturing cultural awareness; identifying and understanding the dynamics of
culture; recognizing behavioural patterns and practices that affect the business; and coming up with
strategies for dealing with cultural differences.
Cultural awareness can be described as awareness of the various norms, practices, and other cultural
variables of a country. This is an important aspect to

Causes Of The Obstacles In The Odyssey
Everyone faces struggles at some point in their life, no matter if you are a hero from an old
mythical story or a modern day person living in Iowa. Even though the struggles faced by Odysseus
and me are different, they have a common overlapping theme that ties them together. Which causes
them in turn to be in fact very comparable. Both Odysseusand I face obstacles such as temptation,
laziness, and distraction. Although his obstacles come from his want to go back home to Ithaca,
mine are from my desire to live a happy and healthy lifestyle.
Temptation, sin or not? Depending on who you ask it may or may not be. Temptation can come in
any form. It sidetracks people from whatever their individual goal is and draws them to do

Analysis Of Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire
Tennessee Williams was born in Columbus, Mississippi in 1911. A Streetcar Named Desire was
set at around his time and it describes the decline of the Southern Belle named Blanche DuBois.
The pathos found in Williams s drama came from the playwright s own life. Alcoholism,
depression, loneliness, desire, as well as insanity all played a huge part throughout William s
lifetime, thus, incorporating these into his own life. Williams portrayed different social groups in
his plays, and how they clash (such as the role of men and women, the urban and southern
lifestyles) to criticize many aspects of society such as social criticism.

Gatsby is a dreamer, he lives for and in his dreams. But his amazing ability to focus on and
achieve his dreams makes him great. Nick Carraway describes himself in the first chapter as
reserved in judgement and tolerant of other people, even when subjected to their unwanted and
boring secret confessions. He is indeed more tolerant than most, and holds judgement even
when faced with huge and unmistakable character flaws. For instance, he makes no solid
judgement on Tom Buchanan when he sees him openly displaying his extramarital affair with
Myrtle and holding no shame or guilt about cheating on Daisy. His unwillingness to criticize
leads to his having double feelings about several characters, because he see their faults but wants
to keep an open mind. He is especially reserved in holding judgement against Gatsby, which
causes him to go so far as to create a sort of blind spot towards him. He criticizes Gatsby s
obsession with wealth and luxury, and is very aware of his criminal behavior, yet he sees more
in Gatsby the man who would do anything for his love and worked towards his dreams all his
life. Nick is still, however, an honest and good man. He is not extravagantly rich, but unlike
Gatsby he earned all of his high social connections fairly. He is rather disgusted with the East and
it s empty values by the end of the book. But he is still intrigued by it all, as he demonstrates
through his relationship with Jordan Baker. He holds an almost subconscious

International growth/ New Market Disney has an opportunity to expand its movie production to
such countries as India or China, where movie production industries have developed good quality
infrastructure. This would result in lower movie production costs and more localized movies for
India and China s markets. Changes in technology and consumer consumption The company that
stays on abreast of the rapid pace of technology change achieves higher advantage. With new media
platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, it seems that the company that best takes advantage of
these forums is at the forefront of pop culture right where an entertainment corporation would hope
to be. B. External Threats Economic recession A major threat to Disney s success is the current
market stagnation, as consumers do not have money to spend on Disney s products and vacations.
Changes in technology and consumer consumption The rate at which media and technology has
changed in the last in the last 15 years is unprecedented. Since widespread availability of the
Internet occurred in the late 1990s, media and technological advances have bred more media and
technological advances. While that is wonderful news for the consumer, it leaves companies
struggling to stay on top of changes occurring at an almost daily rate so much so that often time
technological departments have been bolstered just to keep organizations competitive on the online.

Keep Your Head Up By Ben Howard
Keep Your Head Up Music is an art that has the capability of drawing out the deepest emotion
within us. For that very reason, we are extremely attracted to such art. Different genres attract
diverse groups of people. Often it is easy to spark memories within our consciousness by listening
to particular songs. For me personally, I have a bittersweet connection to the song, Keep Your
Head Up, By Ben Howard because the lyrics provoke happiness and encouragement, a couple of
traits I struggle with at times, yet the tune sparks beautiful memories with an estranged, beloved
friend. My sophomoreyear of high schoolwas one of the hardest years I have ever been through,
mentally and emotionally. Depression, lack of self esteem, and addiction had always affected
my life in some way, whether it be through close family members or friends or within my own
self. Through series of events, I found myself in a terrible place in life in my sophomore year of
high school, and I had not the slightest clue how to solve it. At some points, I did not even
really care to fix it. I struggled maintaining grades and maintaining relationships with my friends
as well as my parents. I was simply not a pleasant person to be around, yet somehow, in all of this
mess I called my life, someone special walked in, unexpectedly, and managed to spark a change
within me. We were instant best friends. People assumed we had known each other since a young
age, some even went to the extent of believing we

Comparison Of Claude Monet

Claude Monet
I am following Nature without being able to grasp her, I perhaps owe having become a painter to
flowers. Claude Monet
Claude Monet was born on November 14, 1840 in Paris, France. Although his name was Oscar
Claude Monet, he would drop his first name early in life and use middle name throughout the
remainder of his life. His interest into art began when he was a young boy. He started painting
as a child and entered the Le Havre secondary school when he was just 11 years old. He went to
live with his aunt and she was supportive of his painting. He enrolled in art school in Paris where
he copied masterworks completed by other famous artists. During this time, he completed works
solely of his own accord. He began taking lessons from Charles Gleyre and befriended artist Pierre
August Renoir, Alfred Sisley, and Frederic Bazille. He developed the style and became known as
the father of impressionism.
Monet was greatly influenced by French artist Edouard Manet who was an important painter
regarding the move from Realism to Impressionism. While both Manet and Monet had similarities
Manet s artistic style leaned towards Realism while Monet painted with the Impressionism style.
The main difference between the painters is the brushstrokes you can see in Monet s paintings
whereas the paintings Manet did have a smoother appearance.
While his friend focused on painting women, Claude focused on painting

Don t Fear Change Essay examples
What are you afraid of? Many people are afraid of many things such as death, heights, bugs, or
public speaking; but the fear of change ranks high in the list of things that trigger anxiety
(Radwan). Is there a reasonable answer why people neglect change nowadays? In fact, there is
more than one answer to this question. Change has become such an important aspect of our
everyday life that it is impossible to ignore. When it comes to the idea of change, most people will
readily agree that some individuals try their hardest to avoid change. The reason behind this known
theory is that those individuals don t fearchange; they fear being changed (Rabadam). In the end,
change is something that drives them away from wanting to experience other... Show more content

In fact, the main reason to fear failure is how we imagine how others will view us when we fail.
For example, if an individual keeps doing the same thing over and over, then the results will never
change. As Albert Einstein stated, a person, who never made a mistake, never tried anything new
(Brenner). Failure is not the enemy, but a life changing experience. It is a human experience,
and it prepares the way for us to grow and transform our lives. Mistakes are essential to the
development of life, just as change is. Nevertheless, change is said to prepare us for life and
without change, life would persistently be the same. Admittedly, childhood experiences affect
your adulthood. For instance, overprotective parents and parents who spoil their children are
those who indirectly teach them to be afraid to change. In the same way, over protection can
cause the children to be unready for the real world. When the kids do get out into the real world,
they don t know how to handle it. The individual will be so used to what they knew when
growing up that that is all they will expect. That same individual will not follow the pattern of
change. A person that doesn t follow the pattern of change will most likely fear change itself.
Furthermore, another reason people fear change is because they fear the past might replicate itself
(Radwan). This reason links to the fear of failure in a way. As an illustration, a woman who

  • 5. The Endangered Species Act Is A Good Thing A world without animals is a scary thought. There are many animals that will become extinct and many that are endangered. The Endangered Species Act is a good thing because it has provided a set way in helping to protect different species. The Endangered Species Act was signed by past president Richard Nixon, and it was passed with 99% support from Congress. They wanted to protect different species no matter what. Between 40% 50% of endangered speciesin the U.S. have made improvement, but others are moving toward extinction. The law has helped in the rebirth of 36 species, but a similar number has disappeared. The mixed record on restoration and the impact it has on business has turned the ESA into a one sided playing field (Male). There are ways humans contribute to species of endangerment by destroying habitats, the introduction of exotic species and hunting. Natural causes such as global warmingare another factor that has contributed to species endangerment. The Endangered Species Act has helped to save animals such as the american alligator, the bald eagle, grizzly bears and many others. It is used to prohibit the hunting of these animals. The Endangered Species Act has some negative impacts so there are people who are in support of the while others are not. Regulating Food Labels Food labels were made to be a helpful tool for the average customer, but over time they have become hard to understand and a secret that food companies are hiding behind. The Food and Drug Administration, also known as the FDA, are in charge of making sure food labels are easy to read and understand for the consumers. But when they are doing the inspections, they turn a blind eye to the labelbecause the companies are bribing them to. The FDA has made some acts, such as FD C and the Fair packaging and Labeling Act, to prevent these loopholes from happening. The FD C Act stands for Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. This act started in 1938 when Congress passed down the authority of overseeing the safety of food, drugs, and cosmetics. Another... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These loopholes aren t as big as others, for instance using pink slime instead of meat, but they are significant to the consumers health. One of the major ways to get around these rules is by putting sugar into different names, One of the most common tricks is to distribute sugars among many ingredients so that sugars don t appear in the top three. For example, a manufacturer may use a combination of sucrose, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup solids, brown sugar, dextrose and other sugar ingredients to make sure none of them are present in large enough quantities to attain a top position on the ingredients list(remember, the ingredients are listed in order of their proportion in the food, with the most common ingredients listed first). (Zerbo s Health Foods). Normal customers do not understand the difference and believe that their food is healthy because that is what the label tells them to believe. This connects back to the FPLA Act not being strict enough because it is not against the rules to list the ingredients separate like they do with sugar. Furthermore food companies are making other loopholes by not telling the FDA what is exactly in the food that they are producing. Their is a 57 year old law that states the if a ingredient is recognized as safe, then the company does not need to inform the FDA if they do not want to, accessed on The Center for Public ... Tana River is a multi ethnic County that is gifted with abundant natural resource wealth, which includes, among others water sources, fertile land, beautiful beaches, forests and wild game. Since independence, the successive governments deliberately renounced to listen to the plight of the communities by yielding insignificant attention by not prioritizing Tana River Districtin their community empowerment and development agendas the dark days of the single party dictatorship. • 10. An Extension Of The Activities Essay Research is a systematic, precise and rigorous inquiry or investigation that allows people to understand the nature of a problem or idea (Grossoehme, 2014; Stringer, 2014). All research can be visualised as an extension of the activities we engage in day by day, which requires one to move past the day to day understandings and engage in a more precise and rigorous description, observation or explanation of the problem or idea (Stringer, 2014). The general distinction between qualitative and quantitative research is that quantitative research uses empirical data in the form of numbers, while qualitative research uses empirical data that is not in the form of numbers, usually words, but there is much more to the research designs than their use of numerical data or not (Stringer, 2014; Punch, 2009). Qualitative research is associated with research conducted in the social world, as opposed to quantitative research which focuses on predicting and controlling phenomena on the physical world, and both have their own way of thinking and approaches to research and collecting their data (Stringer, 2014, Punch, 2009). For the purpose of this assignment we will look into the ideas, thinking and approaches of two qualitative research designs; grounded theory and action research. Comparing Tristram To Isolt And The Love-Drink In love stories like Romeo and Juliet, the main theme in the story is that sometimes love is worth dying for if it is true and pure, and Shakespeare focused on writing a play in which that theme was made obvious. In the case of Tristan and Iseult, there are many versions of their love story. Most versions result in their deaths because they cannot live without the other; however, some versions leave one of the two alive. Although there are many different versions, they all tell a story similar to the ones before it. In Tristram to Isolt and The Love Drink, both authors tell the story of Tristan and Iseult, yet both have differences like their plot and diction in order to emphasize different, distinct themes. Both stories use a different plot scheme which highlights the different themes that each author hoped to draw attention to. Colin Beavan got in touch with some foodies and asked what they did for eating environmentally conscience. And Colin and his wife found other activities to do during their normal TV time, like preparing ingredients for their meals and spending time with their friends. Colin even went as far as to visit the farm that he gets his milk from just to see if the farmer s ideals lined up with his. This chapter brought up a good point about the antibiotics regulations for organic farming. As someone who was once a member of 4 H if you are planning on raising market animals the healthier the animal is the better. So when the USDA set the no antibiotics standard for market animals to be considered organic is unrealistic because in order to have a shot at raising healthy animals they need to get shots to keep them from getting sick. And this doesn t just apply to 4 H, it applies to commercial farms too and that s why some of them treat their animals so badly. Commercial farms try to follow the USDA rules but aren t making enough money to keep their animals healthy so when they get sick the animals are hurriedly pushed to get well without the use of vet care, because that s money that they could use to buy more animals instead of trying to care for the ones they have. This doesn t condone the methods the commercial farms use but it is easier to care for the animals better when you are a 4 H er and raising 1 3 animals per year as opposed to a factory farm raising 60 70 animals per year. ... According to Bromund, the Brexit vote was a landmark in Britain s ability to regain its sovereignty and regulate its own domestic and foreign policies. Iain Murray began by explaining that the laws and regulations of the EU constitute a knot, one that the British must untangle itself from. According to Murray, Brexit could prove to be a disaster depending on how the British government chooses to move forward. He stated that for Brexit to be a success, the new British government must set out the vision of an open and welcoming UK, which means open trade and markets with the entire world. The British Government must invoke Article 50 of the Treaty of the European Union as a matter of adherence to international law, which will begin negotiations between the UK and the European Council regarding the withdrawal. Murray remarked that these negotiations will include the phasing out of the application of EU programs to the UK, the status of trade arrangements with third parties, and the status of UK and EU nationals resident in the other jurisdictions. Domestically, he suggested repealing undesirable EU laws and regulations, while keeping the regulations of value. Murray proposed a Royal Commission on Regulatory Reduction with the targets of reducing EU generated regulation by 25%, suspecting it could reduce regulations significantly within five years of Brexit. According to Collins the fire bullets, then cannonballs approach is the best way to explain the success of large companies. The concept is sort of an homage to the days before automatic handguns. It takes a lot less gunpowder to fire a bullet than a cannonball, so it is more effective and plausible to start a battle with bullets; and once enough time has been spent preparing for the big finish then a cannonball can and should be fired. A bullet is a low distraction, low risk, and low cost test or experiement. There are two types of cannonballs, uncalibrated and calibrated. A calibrated cannonball is an idea or concept that is backed by evidence, or in this case empirical validation. Well the opposition clearly did not do any research and the politicians used smooth talking fallacies to blind side the voters. It is time to see the holes in their stance on medical marijuana. The Smokescreen as defined by the author Joe Cardona from the Miami Herald, is the lack of liability Amendment 2 brought to the table when it hit the polls in October. His meaning behind this is because a medical marijuana user would not be receiving a prescription from a trained medical physician. Instead, they would be receiving a referral for a license to receive treatment and they would have it forever. Also as part of Joe Cardona s Smokescreen theory, because the fact that Amendment 2 is a constitutional amendment that there would have been no way to tweak or amended it, like a legislative law would. A Patriotic Hero- The Contrast Royall Tyler was an intelligent man, that although he wasn t specifically interested in writing dramatic fiction, has been claimed as the first to ever create an authentic American play. His ability to write clearly and professionally allowed the first American play to become a huge hit in it s time and still stands as one of the best dramas to read and watch today. This is seen in a comment made by Amanda Dollack, this play offers a fantastic glimpse into the American culture during Tyler s time, while being universal enough to still be relevant even in our day. We can all relate to the characters and know people in our own lives who resemble these characters (Dollack Web.). The dramatic composition The Contrast shows the audience a detailed connection to the historical background of early America and the influence of countries upon America and the citizens views of such. Ever since the making of the colonies of America, large city areas such as New York and Massachusets were idiolized as America s industrial and fashion capitals of the U.S. As such, influences from Great Britain and France were strong compared to other places in America. The Contrast shows how strongly an impact other countries had on America within the cities and how patriotism was slightly lacking. This was shown in the fashion of the ladies (Letitia and Charlotte), contrast of a city man (Jessamy) versus a man from the country (Jonathan), and the actions and words of a man well traveled (Mr. ... The reason Margo needed that stuff was because she was trying to get revenge on her friends and ex boyfriend. I think the theme of this book is, to get revenge on people for not telling you bad things so later on they won t hurt you, like in this case Margo s ex boyfriend. I think this is the theme because if Margo s friends have told her sooner, she wouldn t of been doing this to all her friends and her ex boyfriend. The conflict is mostly Man Vs. Fish can only live in an aquatic habitat and have no special adaptations to live in a terrestrial habitat. A fish s gas exchange system requires water to support the fish s filaments and to hold the lamellae apart so that surface area can be kept large. If a fish were to live in a terrestrial habitat they would be permanently exposed to air. This air would then make the filaments and the lamellae stick together which would then greatly decrease the surface area to volume ratio. As a result, the efficiency of gases diffusing would reduce. Fish s gills would desiccate without the water to keep them moist so the respiratory gases would not be able to dissolve so it can diffuse into the blood. However, due to the process of counter current flow, fish can take in more of the oxygen that is in water. This leads to a greatly efficient gas exchange. Mammals can avoid desiccation of their gas exchange system as the air they breathe in is warmed and moistened by the nasal passages as it enters the nostrils and the mouth. He is indeed more tolerant than most, and holds judgement even when faced with huge and unmistakable character flaws. For instance, he makes no solid judgement on Tom Buchanan when he sees him openly displaying his extramarital affair with Myrtle and holding no shame or guilt about cheating on Daisy. His unwillingness to criticize leads to his having double feelings about several characters, because he see their faults but wants to keep an open mind. Claude Monet Claude Monet was born on November 14, 1840 in Paris, France. Although his name was Oscar Claude Monet, he would drop his first name early in life and use middle name throughout the remainder of his life. His interest into art began when he was a young boy. He started painting as a child and entered the Le Havre secondary school when he was just 11 years old. He went to live with his aunt and she was supportive of his painting. He enrolled in art school in Paris where he copied masterworks completed by other famous artists. During this time, he completed works solely of his own accord. He began taking lessons from Charles Gleyre and befriended artist Pierre August Renoir, Alfred Sisley, and Frederic Bazille. He developed the style and became known as the father of impressionism. Monet was greatly influenced by French artist Edouard Manet who was an important painter regarding the move from Realism to Impressionism. While both Manet and Monet had similarities Manet s artistic style leaned towards Realism while Monet painted with the Impressionism style. Many people are afraid of many things such as death, heights, bugs, or public speaking; but the fear of change ranks high in the list of things that trigger anxiety (Radwan). Is there a reasonable answer why people neglect change nowadays? In fact, there is more than one answer to this question. Change has become such an important aspect of our everyday life that it is impossible to ignore. When it comes to the idea of change, most people will readily agree that some individuals try their hardest to avoid change. The reason behind this known theory is that those individuals don t fearchange; they fear being changed (Rabadam). In fact, the main reason to fear failure is how we imagine how others will view us when we fail. For example, if an individual keeps doing the same thing over and over, then the results will never change. As Albert Einstein stated, a person, who never made a mistake, never tried anything new (Brenner). Failure is not the enemy, but a life changing experience. It is a human experience, and it prepares the way for us to grow and transform our lives. Mistakes are essential to the development of life, just as change is. Nevertheless, change is said to prepare us for life and without change, life would persistently be the same. Admittedly, childhood experiences affect your adulthood. For instance, overprotective parents and parents who spoil their children are those who indirectly teach them to be afraid to change. In the same way, over protection can cause the children to be unready for the real world. When the kids do get out into the real world, they don t know how to handle it. The individual will be so used to what they knew when growing up that that is all they will expect. That same individual will not follow the pattern of change. A person that doesn t follow the pattern of change will most likely fear change itself. Furthermore, another reason people fear change is because they fear the past might replicate itself (Radwan). This reason links to the fear of failure in a way. As an illustration, a woman who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
