To the Russian people Vladimir Lenin was an important historical figure and the creator of the
Soviet System. Lenin was not always a radical revolutionary, but he transformed into one after
reading the books that his older brother had in his library. Lenin s older brother was executed as
a radical by the regime which created an early hatred for the Tsar. Lenin was the leader of the
Bolshevik party and helped to rally support to the party even while in exile through the multiple
pieces of writing that he produced. Lenin helped to promote the revolution in 1905 and was only
stopped by the outbreak of World War One. While the tsarist Government survived the revolution
in 1905 they would fail to do so in the February Revolution which occurred in 1917. After the
Tsar fell a provisional government was set up which floundered and failed while Lenin and his
Bolsheviks gained power. After being sent back to Russia by Germany, Lenin created his April
Thesis which said that the power should be transferred to his soviet socialist party. At first, the
Bolsheviks were a minority but by September 1917 they gained the majority and took the power
from the provisional government in the October Revolution. After the Revolution, a civil war broke

Introduction: The Elwha river is located on the Olympic Peninsula of the Pacific Northwest in
Washington State. It travels 72 kilometers from the Olympic range in the Olympic National Park
to the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Before human disturbance this watershed was considered one of the
most productive ecosystems in Washington State and all of the Pacific Northwest (Duda). In
the early 1900 s two dams were built in this watershed on the Elwha river forming two lakes. The

The Atlantic slave trade was a historical period that started in the 15th century and the slave trade
was abolished in the year 1807. The nature of the Atlantic slave trade could be described as brutal
because of the conditions that the captured Africans were forced to endure both during the journey
from Africa to the Americas and their time on the plantations. During the journey from Africa to the
Americas the captured Africans were put into the ship s hold and kept on small shelves with no
ventilation or anywhere to defecate.
The triangular trade was a key part of the Atlantic slave trade as it was the main process used to
trade for Africans and for trading Africans. The triangular trade started in Europe and went to
Africa to trade manufactured goods such as: pots, guns and fabric. The traders would then take the
traded Africans to the Americas to be traded in exchange for products such as: sugar, cotton and
tobacco. The journey would end in Europe then the same cycle would be repeated many times over.
The abolition of the slave trade in Britain was a process that took several years to be a success
because of the strong opposition from the MPs and others who were benefitting off the slave
trade. The main reason for most of the opposition was because of the amount of wealth the slave
trade was creating for Europe, this made people believe that they needed the slave trade for
financial stability. There were several important factors that caused the abolition to be a success,
these factors include: The influence of William Wilberforce in the British Parliament, the impact of
the abolitionist campaign on public opinion and lastly the impact of slave resistance and rebellion.

After having taken an entire course dedicated to design, I think that I ought to pass on some of
the information I learned in the form of some oh so friendly advice. Although you, my good
friend who has been seriously considering going into design for some time, may already know a
bit about design, I thought it a good idea to let you know about what a few of the sources I have
been reading have to say about being a designer. Also, I wanted to let you know what these sources
say in regard to the place of designers and of designers work in the larger society. Unfortunately,
I will not be able to give you the full run down, but I have chosen the best just for you. Jumping
ahead a bit to my summary of findings, I found that designers have special responsibilities lot of
them. They have to think about the people with which they work, the consumers of their
designs, the manufacturers of their designs, and the nature of the material with which they
work. Also, design should not be thought of as a way in which people show mastery and control
over the world. To do this is a bad idea because it can have a negative impact on a person s morals.

In this paper we implement Triple DES algorithms in which the plain text is encoded using
various binary coded decimal systems such as 8421, 7421, 5421, excess 3, gray code etc...before
encrypting it and then observe the avalanche effect. Variations in the avalanche affect are observed
in the results. Experimental results exhibit a higher avalanche effect when the plain text is encoded
in some of the binary coded decimal systems.

Information security is of prime concern as data is being transmitted digitally. A system must
provide the essential security services such as authentication, data integrity, data confidentiality, non

means for secure communication. It enables the transmission of the information over insecure
channels. It ensures that the data is being accessed or is understood by the authorized persons only.

during middle ages. Charlemagne s background and family history contributed much to his rise to
power. The triumphs of his past lineage prepared him to take on the task of governing the Frankish
Empire, and defending it from invaders. Charlemagneaccomplished much during his supremacy.
He not only brought education back into medieval Europe, but also invented an efficient way to
govern his people. His conquests against the many adversaries of the Holy Roman Empire

Charles Martel, or Charles the Hammer, considered one of the greatest to hold the title Mayor of
the Palace , succeeded the position in 732 (Abrams 186). He gained high admiration and respect
from the Frankish people for his feats against the Muslims trying to gain passage into Europe
(Abrams 186), and imparted much wisdom to an equally respected ruler, his grandson,
Charlemagne. By this time, the Franks thought of the mayors more as kings instead of stewards
considering that they had complete control over the empire and its people. Charlemagne s Father,
Pepin III, more commonly known as Pepin the Short, assumed the position of Mayor in 751 (Davis
54). During his reign, Pepin defended Rome against a barbarian tribe called the Lombards, which

Charlemagne s sovereignty as Holy Roman Emperor (Davis 54). Pepin died in 768, dividing the
now much larger Frankish empire between his two sons Charlemagne and Carolmen (Davis 54).
Carolmen died in 771 and left Charlemagne as the sole ruler of the Frankish empire (Davis 54). The
era when the mayors ruled the Franks up until Charlemagne s death acquired the title The
Carolingian Dynasty in Western Europe (Jenkins 123). From the passing of both his Father and
brother, Charlemagne continued into his kingship over the Frankish Empire.
