Aesthetic and Re constructive Surgery
These are two surgical specialties that involve the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the
human body. Re constructive surgery aims to reconstruct a part of the body or improve its
functioning and Aesthetic surgery aims at improving the appearance of it.
Re constructive surgeons use these surgical techniques to manage increasingly complex wounds
like severe burns and to grow additional bone, skin or other tissues. This ranges from very simple

4. Comparing Clueless and Emma Essay
CLUELESS VS. EMMA Adaptations of Jane Austen s, Emma, are usually period pieces diligent in
capturing and replicating the manners, dress, language and values of the original text. Clueless,
written and directed by Amy Heckerling, deviates drastically from the norm, as the film is not a
period piece. While Emmais set in the early nineteenth century in the country village of Highbury,
sixteen miles out of London, England, Clueless is set in Bronson Alcott High School almost two
hundred years later, in the late twentieth century. Despite the significantly different geographical
and historical setting and the diverse social values, lifestyles, and issues than those depicted in
Emma, Amy Heckerlings high school setting retains and is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although Highbury s residents show much regard for decorum, gossip is an inherent
characteristic in both Highbury (xvi) and Bronson Alcott High School as means of spreading
news, knowledge, and in criticizing. In Highbury everyone knows everyone else s affairs, even
that the Perrys are speculating about buying a carriage. When Frank goes all the way to London
for a haircut he is considered a fop . The prevalence of gossip is also evident in the everyday life
of Bronson Alcott, Cher is able to give specific information about Christian s parents joint custody
although she has not met him. Later Cher gossips about the reputations of the various social groups
sitting around the school.
Both the novel Emma and the film Clueless reflect the societies of their times and use the
acceptable forms of language for their settings. In Emma the characters use the expected for
formal language in their direct and indirect speeches. Harriett addresses her friend as Dear Miss
Woodhouse, and Mrs. Elton shocks everyone saying Jane and Knight without appropriate titles. In
Clueless however, Cher, her father and Josh speak in informal everyday language most of the

Justice Summary Just as truth is the prominent idea on which both goodness and beauty rest, so
too is justice the central idea on which liberty and equality rest. Mortimer Adler, author of Six
Great Ideas, believes that justice is an unlimited good that a society can never have too much of. He
holds that justiceshould be valued over liberty and equality because it alone can magnify peace and
harmony in a society, while maintaining any set limits. Justice is separated into two different
categories: individual justice in relation to other humans and the government, and governmental
justice in relation to its populace. It is crucial to note that fairness is treating each individual

8. `` Blame Photo Thieves, Not The Female Victim, By...
Strong Response Draft The web is filled with online trolls who would sell what shreds of dignity
they have left for an Angela Lansbury nude. Equally, the average internet user has come to despise
the delinquents who harm in the form of internet torture. And while he or she could be blamed for
being reckless, it is uncommon to guilt the average internet user for being hacked. The fault lies
with the malicious hacker. In recent months, many celebrities have had private photos of
themselves hacked and posted on the internet for the world to see. While a blatant invasion of
privacy, it is also a sacrilegious towards the celebrity s body and their rights to consent.
In Blame Photo Thieves, Not the Female Victim, columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. expresses his
perspective that while it is biologically natural for heterosexual men, regardless of occupation or
personal beliefs, to find scantily clad women attractive, it should be a woman s choice of whether to
pose naked for the public or not. Pitts believes that a violation occurs when women are denied that
choice and have personal nudes leaked over the internet, such as in recent cases involving Jenifer
Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kirsen Dunst, and other high profile celebrities. Pitts claims that blaming
the females for taking the photographs or placing them on an unreliable cloud would be similar to
blaming the rape victim and the fault therefore lies with the perpetrator. Here, Pitt s comments on
the shrinking of the public sphere and

9. The Change Of English Language
Language is not consistent, it is changing by its nature, either because of innovation, technology,
war or someone s mistakes. English has developed over more than 1500 years since Anglo Saxon
invasion in AD 450 as they brought a set of Anglo Frisian (Anglo German) dialect, which became
known as Old English. This time was the beginning of the development of English language.
The change of English language is divided into four phases: Old English, Middle English, Early
Modern English and Late Modern English. The period of Old English was roughly between 400
and 1100. It was the time when English developed from Latin as it borrowed many words via
church. At that time the language was also largely affected by Scandinavians after invasion and ...

Sometimes, some words fall out of usage and replaced by other for example vinyl is replaced by
M.P.3. All of this is explained by the functional theory, which suggests language always changes
and adapts to the needs of its users. So, people create new words when they need them.
On another hand, words can be created by accident. In 1958, Charles Hockett came up with theory
that shows that random errors and event have an influence on language change. For example,
predictive text messaging is the one example of random fluctuation. Again the language is affected
by technology change and development, today s phones will estimate what word one is writing
and finish it or it can correct any spelling mistakes one have made. Modern phones would
automatically add an apostrophe in its no matter whether it is an adjective or short form for it is or
it has . Thus the theory shows that society s mistakes could also influence the language change.
Another theory that describes how and why new word enter English language is S Curve
Model, which is base on the idea that language change can occur at slower pace then it increases
speed as it becomes wore accepted, therefore creating curve resembling letter S . The model is
based on Chen s idea. For example slang tends to spread in particular way, first when the new slang
term appears it will be used by the smallest group of people and then it might be picked up by

10. Bank Accounting Information System and Electronic Banking
Introduction Information technology has had as much impact on our society as the industrial
revolution. In the information age, companies are finding that success or failure is increasingly
dependent on their management and use of information. Therefore, companies need a good
information system that enabled an efficient and effective use of information to give them more
competitive advantage (Moscove, Simkin, Bagranoff, 1999).
An information system is a set of interrelated subsystems that work together to collect, process,
store, transform, and distribute information for planning, decisions making, and control. An
information system need not be a computerized system, but the use of computer in information
systems can improve the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Electronic technology spreads from this central point through the whole process of bank funds
transmissions, finally reaching outside the banks direct to retail customers and corporate treasuries.
Electronic banking started in the United States because the clearing arrangements between the
large numbers of geographically dispersed US banks was extremely inefficient. Corporate
customer pressure for improvements was becoming irresistible. In addition, the early availability
of cheap computing power encouraged pioneering work in the United States to achieve savings
from more efficient use of the banking system. The creative use of the emerging technology,
which had been developed for other purposes, and paid for by other industries research budgets,
was fundamental to the progress of electronic banking and the significant savings achieved
thereby. The American banks did not have it all their own way. The first ATMs in the world were
introduced to the public in the United Kingdom by Barclays Bank in 1969. Once customers
became familiar with them, they spread rapidly. By 1985, 160,000 units were run by banks
worldwide, with about 9,000 in the United Kingdom (Deakin, Goddard Welch, 1999).
By 1990, the pace of change had started to accelerate В– electronic banking had become the norm
in corporate treasuries with electronic links between balance reporting systems and second
generation treasury management system or spreadsheets and from treasury systems to

12. Compare Sonnet 130 By Shakespeare
Poems use lots of different ways to express personal relationships. The authors of these poems can
use language, tone, structure and many other ways to convey personal relationships. The poem
Valentine by Carol Ann Duffy uses many of these aspects. The main idea of this poem is to
compare an onion to the lovea woman has for her lover. The poem Sonnet130 by Shakespeare also
uses language, tone, structure and imagery. This poem however uses them in a different way. This
poem is about how a man loves his wife/lover in his own special way. These two poems use
language, tone, structure, rhyme/rhythm and imagery to express a personal relationship.
Language is a very important part of every poem as it helps convey the author s message. Poems
can use lots of different language devices to convey the message and really grab the reader s
attention. You can use a simile, which is making a comparison of two things using like or as.
Like in Valentine it will blind you with tears like a lover is a simile. This shows how a lover can
leave you in tears when the leave you heartbroken. The same with an onion as when you cut deeper

bitter, honest and anger. In Valentine the tone is honest and romantic. For this poem it was easy to

13. Critical Analysis Of Richard III
Writer s statement
William Shakespeare s, Richard III explores the idea of power. It s shown how power corrupts and
controls characters throughout the play. There are many comparisons that could be drawn between
Richard III as Machiavellian leader as alluded to in the transformative piece. The main reason for
this is the extremes that Richard would go to, to assert himself in power. The transformative piece
aimed to explore how this influenced Richard s reception when elected into power. One of the main
motivations behind the characterisations of Richard in this transformative piece, is drawn from
when Richard announces in the original play, And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover, To
entertain these fair well spoken days, I am determined to prove a villain, And hate the idle pleasures
of these days. (1.1.??) From this quote the character of Richard had to be created to be cruel with
no regard for the things that make us human, this was done through how widely known his
behaviour is in the article. The Machiavellian idea is also drawn from Richard as he cannot prove a
lover , which leads him to draw on fear as a method of control. This speech is sinister yet
incredibly determined, it acted as the driving hand behind many of Richard s brutal actions,
because whilst his actions are morally wrong, he is working towards a goal. This idea laid the
grounds for the investigation Richards s determination.
The transformative is written in The Economists, which is well

16. Fantine And Cosette
Though Jean valjean struggles and conflicts only got more strenuous, he still continued, if not to an
even greater extent, his selfless devotion to the ill fated members of society. The exemplary
heroism, compassion, and love of Jean Valjean s character was further deepened through the
meeting of Cosette and Fantine. The mother and daughter both express a cry for help, a call which
although difficult to answer, was dutifully plowed after by Jean Valjean.
Fantine is a reflection of the horrific outcome of French society. Exploited by the thenardiers,
and undoubtedly naive to the intentions of others, she is the weak prey oblivious of her
predators. Jean Valjean steps into her life, and by doing so, he cultivates a strong empathy for
her situation, one which is quite familiar to himself. Fantine causes Jean Valjean to look back at
the character of his darkest days, and thus, make a decision to firmly not revert back to his old
ways. In fact, she is the embodiment of a part of a debt to society he must pay, and so Jean
Valjean is determined to help Fantine in any way he can. Likewise, he pursues the recovery of her
daughter Cosette in order to achieve completion of her final wish. Fantine impacts Jean Valjean by
acting like a mirror for his personal flaws, and continued to spark the seemingly never ending
selfless drive to make up for them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

17. The Roles Of Married Women In The 17th And 18th Century
The word restoration is represents the historical time period that occurred in England between the
years of 1660 to 1700. This era was marked when the monarchy was restored to England after ten
years because of the rule of Parliament. During the 17th and 18th century women were placed into
three different roles: virgins, married, or widows. While each role was different so were the
expectations and images. A married womanduring this time would have strictly been at home taking
care of the children, cleaning, and cooking meals. The husbands had the most control in the
relationship. To document the female roles during this time, there were poems, books, and plays
that depicted these roles. The two plays that showed the married women s role would be The
Country Wifewhich was written by William Wycherley and the Beggar s Opera that was

of predicting the direction of DJIA with 87 percent accuracy, up to four days before the actual

In the graph the blue line represents the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the red line represents
the predicted model of stock prices based on twitter updates. The trends are separated for better
viewing in the middle and bottom graphs. From the graph we can see that when delayed by
three days, the trends in predicted model of stock prices overlaps meaningfully with the Dow

can disrupt the accuracy of the predicted model of stock prices. b) Another research study says it
has found a correlation between the social media popularity of key brands and their share price,
and suggests that it might be used as a lead indicator to determine the trend of the stock price as
well. The author of the study, Arthur O Connor, a post doctoral student at Pace University said
that he was able to reliably predict the daily stock prices of three major stocks over a 10 month
period. He also made three predictions, claiming that Wal Mart, Viacom and Sony each had seen
major recent growth in key social media profiles, implying that the share prices of those stocks

The average person s understanding of the Holocaust is the persecution and mass murder of Jews
by the Nazi s, most are unaware that the people behind the atrocities of the Holocaust came from
all over Europe and a wide variety of backgrounds. Art Spiegelman s Maus: a Survivor s Tale,
Christopher Browning s Ordinary Men: Reserve Battalion 101 and the Final Solution, and Jan Gross
s Neighbors: The Destruction of the Jewish Community in Jedbwabne, Poland, all provides a
different perspective on how ordinary people felt about their experiences in the Holocaustboth
perpetrators and victims.

The Jews were the enemy, and many men justified this by dehumanizing the Jews and distancing
themselves psychologically which enabled the continued killing.
Each of these novels takes on a different perspective of the Holocaust. The common theme among
each is that it was ordinary human beings who did extraordinary things during the Holocaust. The
average perception is that the perpetrators of the Holocaust were inherently evil, monstrous and
immoral people, they must have been to commit such heinous acts? This is not the case. It was
ordinary Europeans who for varying reasons including, wartime brutalization and lack of a
collective identity carried out much of the Nazi s Final Solution.

Between the classifications of virgin and prostitute lay a void, not a range; one could give the
entire freight or nothing . Performed in 1677, Aphra Behn s play, The Rover addresses this
twofold standard, which restricted her female companions sexual cravings to the domain of
religious community, massage parlor, or home. Set free in the upside down universe of Festival,
her characters show the dynamic, entangled amusement required of ladies looking to secure
individual satisfaction. The perils of the pursuit and the play s clean decision, then again, propose
at how women neither could nor ought to stray too far into the manly parts of wooer and owner.
In spite of the fact that ladies may desire higher degrees of self sufficiency and sexual expression,
their lives still fit inside of the limits of three parts: cloister adherent, whore, or wife.

Waterfall and Extreme Programming are two software project methods used for project
management. Although there are a number of opinions comparing the two methods regarding how
they should be applied, none have used project data to clearly conclude which one is better. In this

The faculty decided to use Extreme Programming as the method for the Foundations course
because it was an agile method, it had good engineering practices, and it was a safe sandbox
environment for engineers to try paired programming since many managers in industry were
initially skeptical about its benefits. In 2005, the faculty allowed three of the sixteen teams tried
our new curriculum to see if there were any serious issues in the switch, while other thirteen teams
continued to follow a start point in 2004. The feedback was extremely positive so in 2006, all
teams followed Extreme Programming. For the project plan duration, Waterfall teams needed
fifteen weeks to finish their tasks where as Extreme Programming teams were given only thirteen
weeks, a 13% reduction in time.

scratch would be easier than working with the existing code base. Team 30:1 decided to use the
latest in Java technologies including Swing and Hibernate. PET 1.1, the team s product became the
starting point for the students in the following year.
1.2.3. PET 1.2: In 2008, the faculty switched the core technology from Java to Ruby on

For Pet 1.2, students would build their projects from scratch.

April 12, 2016
Abstract In order to see the effects of pH and temperature on the enzymatic reaction of catechol
oxidase when separated from potato tissue. We used a spectrophotometer to measure how much
blue light energy is absorbed by benzoquinone. Benzoquinone is a product of catechol when it
has been oxidized by different temperatures and pHs. We hypothesized that the benzoquinone
absorbance rate would be faster when the pH added to the cuvettes were greater than the pH of
the potato tissue. The pH of the potato tissue was pH 6. Our results show that pH 7 had the faster

Our hypothesis states that the benzoquinone absorbance rate would be faster when the pH added
to the cuvettes were greater than the pH of the potato tissue. At pH 7, reaction rates were the
fastest, but not at pH 10 like we predicted. We predicted that pH 4 would have the slowest to no
reaction rate, but it was faster than pH 10 because the potato tissue has a pH 6 and the pH 4 was
closest to the pH of the potato tissue. A possible reason our hypothesis was only partially
supported was because of possible cross contamination when preparing the cuvettes by not using
different disposable pipets for each pH solution, or the test tubes could have been labeled wrong
which caused them to be mixed up. In future experiments, we should look at the effects of pHs
closer to the pH of the potato tissue because we can infer that closer pHs to the pH of potato tissue
will have a faster reaction rate causing the potatoes to turn brown

26. Othello Definition Of A Hero Essay
Nowadays, society has evolved in different directions when it comes to defining a hero.
Some individuals may see a hero as someone who is known for their good deeds and remarkable
super powers like the ones that are shown today in films. Even though, this can be true to a certain
extent, these qualities are not the only ones that are used to compose the ideal hero. As society has
progressed throughout the years, the characterization of who a hero is has also transformed in
terms of the protagonist itself. (Heroes). During the 1600s, the protagonist was not seen as the
hero of the play or poems like shown in William Shakespeare s tragedy, Othello and the epic
poem Paradise Lost written by John Milton. Based on both of these literary selections, the heroes
can be demonstrated by the villains Iago and Satan who in both the play and epic poem
transformed the stereotype of the protagonist always being the hero to be false. As the tragedy play
of Othello begins, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Database Name). At a certain point Shakespeare guarantees to validate Iago s actions, and for this
reason, the audience can justify that his plan is acceptable because he did not get promoted to be a
lieutenant, which he was worthy of. In this case, the way Iago presents the heroic values among
society today would be by supremacy because although the plan is difficult to proceed he still
managed to show that the ideal leader takes charge no matter the circumstance in that particular

Analyzing how Parchman reflects the intertwined themes of reform and race, we must look back
into the history of the state, to see what caused the instability that led to reform and the role that
citizens played. The Civil War is just ending and the South lost not only did they lose the battle ,
but they also lost their family members, homes, land and most of all for some they lost their
slaves. During the war Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all
slaves in territories that opposed the Union. Oshinsky paints a beautiful picture of the scenes that
had unfolded when he wrote that, Few could escape the consequences of this war. Mississippi
was bankrupt. Its commerce and transportation had collapsed. The railroads and levees lay in
ruins. Local governments barely functioned. (p.12) The world that many white southerners had
come to know was now destroyed. Being placed under these conditions, outraged many white
southerners. Adding fuel to the fire, the fact of knowing that former slaves were now equal to
even the poorest of whites, did not set well. The author states that, this hatred had many sources.
The ex slave had become a scapegoat for the South s humiliating defeat. John F.H. Claiborne,
Mississippi s most prominent historian, blamed him for causing the war and for helping the North
to prevail. ( Oshinsky, 1996, p. 14) Carl Schdrz, a reformer from the North, became very

John Winthrop: A Model of Christian Charity (City Upon a Hill)
John Winthrop s 1630 sermon, A Model of Christian Charity is one of the first examples of early
American exceptionalism . (Noll, 2012) In his sermon, Winthrop (1630) talks about how the
citizens in colonial America should set a good example for others, and obey God, as they are
looked up to by non Americans. This concept of America being chosen, or somehow unique in a
divine manner was the fundamental meaning of American exceptionalism to Puritan society. In his

American exceptionalism was first introduced to the American public through Winthrop s... Show

29. How Did Emily Dickinson s Life Influence Her Poetry
Emily Dickinson Her Life and Poetry
Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born December 10, 1830, into an influential family in Amherst,
Massachusetts. Her father helped found Amherst College, where Emily later attended between
1840 and 1846. She never married and died in the house where she was born on May 15, 1886.
Emily Dickinson s reclusive life was arguably a result of her proposed bi polar disorder. This life
and disorder unduly influenced the themes of her poetry. She chose not to associate herself with
society and volumes of her poems, published posthumously, examine this idea as well as the
themes of nature and death. The clearest examples of these themes are presented in the following
analysis of just of few of her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem conjures images of a solemn ceremony in which the soul reigns superior by shutting out
everyone, including the emperor, similar to the shutting out of everyone that Dickinson did. In one
of Dickinson s most famous poems, I heard a Fly buzz, the theme of death is presented as well as a
symptomatic characteristic of bi polar disorder. The poem itself epitomizes her preoccupation with
death and the macabre and also shows how the small, normally ignorable sound of a fly buzzing
becomes the only thing heard, she magnifies this sound in a situation when it seems that everything
else is much more important, but this inability to drown out extraneous noises is typical of
someone suffering from manic depression. The form of this poem employs all of Dickinson s
formal patterns: trimeter and tetrameter iambic lines, her specific use of the dash to interrupt the
meter of the poem, and it is in ABCB rhyme scheme.
Two of Dickinson s universal techniques are metaphor and the fresh application of language; both
techniques result in powerful images, and can be seen in two of her poems that focus on nature
themes, A Bird came down the Walk and narrow Fellow. She closes the poem, A Bird with a stanza
equating flight through the air with movement through water,

Redistricting, the process of adjusting states district lines to even the population among said

own district in their home state. These districts then play a role in electing that specific
representative to the House. This seems like a standard government function, but the Constitution

For instance, let s say we have two districts in the same state. District A contains 900,000 people
compared to district B with 100,000. This means that the people in district A have about one eighth
of the vote that the people in district B have. The supreme court ruled that this was unconstitutional,
and now redistricting requires districts to be equivalent based on population. This was one of some
court cases that has constricted states when dealing with redistricting, but states still have a lot of
wiggle room. As long as they follow strict population equality and do not dilute the votes of ethnic
minorities, the states are in the clear. The subject at hand here is not about the legality of
gerrymandering, but whether or not the redistricting process should be nonpartisan. I believe that
the current redistricting process is unfair and illogical, and that the process should be nonpartisan to
take the partisan politics out of the process, create more competitive elections, correct this flaw in
the democratic process, and relieve some gridlock that redistricting produces.
The United States of America has been built on a democratic foundation to protect and serve we the

36. Max Weber Political Authority Essay
According to Max Weber in his work of politics as a Vocation , he states that political authority can
be broken up into three different types. He defines these three types as Traditional authority,
charismatic authority and rational legal authority. Charismatic authority comes from a person s
special qualities and ability to hold followers because of them. Charismatic individuals may use
their authorityover a whole society or even just a specific group within a larger one. These
individuals can use their authority for good and sometimes bad. Some examples of these leaders

This person could be anywhere from a child of the leader or someone the leader knows and trusts.
This in turn leaves a significant danger on the belief because the new leader may lack the required
ability to persuade the same followers. For reasons, Weber recognized that charismatic authority
ultimately becomes more stable when it in turn changes into a traditional or rational legal authority.
A way that a charismatic leader can transform into a traditional authority is by accepting their
bloodline, so that their authority passes to their children and then further down the line.
Transformation into a rational legal authority occurs when the society that they were leading would
in turn develop rules and a bureaucratic structure that is often partnered with a government. Weber
defined this as routinization of charisma.
When we compare this to democratic leaderships, the similarities tend to be that both give their
leaders a ton of responsibility, but with similarities comes its differences. Democratic leaderships
often require their individuals to have a high level of skills along with the will to work, the
leaders are also rational and deliberate. While charismatic leaders appeal to the emotions of the
people around them, and they are often seen as working towards the greater good.
Traditional authority is seen as power that is rooted in regular and long standing beliefs of society.

There is no current test to determine if anyone in the family has the autistic gene , but studies
are still underway (Fredericks, 33). An excess of testosterone in utero may be a link to or cause
of Autism. The child would, in theory, be too male . Babies with too much testosterone during
development may have a higher risk of developing Autism (Fredericks, 38). At one point, Autism
was thought to be caused by the live vaccines given in childhood, such as MMR. The idea was
that the multiple, live vaccines triggered Autism in children who may have a genetic
predisposition for it. The case was closed several years ago due to a lack of usable information
(Fredericks, 39). Though there is no noted cause, Autism has several marking symptoms. An
extreme lack of social skills is usually the biggest and most apparent marker of Autism. The lack
of social skills can be as severe as no speech whatsoever, but can be as mild as awkwardness in
social situation and failure to develop relationships (Autism, Communication). Babies with Autism
do not seem to want human contact or interaction. They may cry when they are picked up, refuse

The theme arises from the central conflict in the tale, which is an internal one, a spiritual moral
conflict within the minister, the Reverend Mr. Hooper. Everything he has to say is related, finally,
to that inward sphere (McPherson 68 69). The minister s absorption into the problems of his inner
sphere cause the draping of the crape veil and the resultant alienation from people.
At the outset of the tale, The Minister s Black Veil, the sexton is tolling the church bell and

40. War At The Best, Is Horrible, And This War Of Ours
David Leathers Professor Blanc US History 13 November 2014 Civil Warfare War at the best, is
terrible, and this war of ours, in its magnitude and in its duration, is one of the most terrible
(Lincoln). This war of ours is the American Civil War 1861 1865. It is one of the most
significant wars ever fought in American History. Many Americans lost their lives, some
defending freedom, and others defending the Union. The warfare was a major contributor to the
casualties suffered during this bloodbath. To fully understand this warfare, one must understand
the individual factors involved and how they affected the warfare. The five factors are: military
strategy, worldview paradigm, weapons and supplies, terrain, and climate. Military Strategy is
important to understand because it is the way that warfare is carried out. A historian named
Kelly Snell writes, Old world tactics and training were inefficient due to modern weaponry
(Snell). There was pressure for a transition to new military strategy because of the new weapons.

41. Entanglement and Quantum Mechanics
Entanglement is one of the most fundamental and yet unintuitive concepts in quantum mechanics.
Maximally entangled two qubit states, often called Bell states, where shown to violate classical
(local) correlation properties [33, 34] and are an essential building block for quantum
communication and distributed quantum computation. Unfortunately, such entangled states are
also difficult to generate and sustain as interaction with a noisy environment typically leads to rapid
loss of their unique quantum properties. In the context of QSC, such an entanglement has been
generated exploring various types of interactions such as direct qubit qubit interaction [35, 36],
coupling to a common cavity mode [37] or photon mediated interactions for qubits embedded in a
waveguide [38].
In this context, remote entanglement of spatially separated quantum systems have important im
plications in addressing the scaling problem for quantum information processing. Indeed, as a
solution to this scaling issue, we propose here to follow a modular approach where the quantum
information is encoded, protected and locally manipulated in small units consisting of a few cavity
modes or/and few qubits and the communication between modules is ensured through quantum
teleportation techniques. Sharing of a pair of entangled subsystems between two modules is central
for these teleportation pro tocols. While the isolation of the modules simplifies the scaling by
avoiding any undesired cross talk between the

business classes and when she finished a year in Marin Junior College she actually left to go
work in a farm where she began to work as a animal caretaker which in this job she began to
expand her love for animals while she was working at the farm even though she was having fun
taking care of all those animals she had to leave because she got chickenpox. After she left she
went back to college but this time to a different one which was the University of California at

43. Examples Of Literature In Boys And Girls
An Awakening One awakening stage in a person s life is the stage between being a child and
being an adult. When an author writes about this stage it can be referred to as coming of age
literature: literature that follows the life of a person as he or she shifts from adolescence to
young adulthood and discovers who he or she is while seeing the world around him or her
differently. These coming of age narratives look back at the time of a youth when he or she is
influenced by his or her family, mentors, friends, peers, relationships, and community, all of which
help shape the youth into the person they will one day become. And, coming of age literature are
narratives which contain similar characteristics; such as, innocence of the world s expectations,
life that seems simple as a child but more complex the older one becomes, the disappointment of
discovering life is not as black and white as one has perceived, tension between family members or
peers, conflicts within oneself as understanding of the world changes, wisdom as one ages, and
acceptance and realization that the adult world is complex and difficult. In the short storyBoys and
Girls, Alice Munro successfully explores the protagonistinnocence of the world s stereotypes,
conflict between who she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gary Reiner, GE s corporate CIO, later explained We are Web enabling nearly all of the
[purchasing] negotiations process, and we are targeting 100 percent of our transactions on the buy
side being done electronically. On the sell side Reiner also wanted to automate as much as
possible, including providing customer service and order taking. GE had quietly been involved with
the Internet years before the Boca Raton meeting, conducting more purchasing and selling on the
Internet than any other noncomputer manufacturer. For example, within six months after
beginning to use the Internet for purchasing in mid 1996, GE Lighting had reduced its purchasing
cycle from 14 to 7 days. It also reduced its supply prices by 10 to 15 percent because of open
bidding on the Internet. In 1997, seven other GE units began purchasing via the Net. The company
even sold the concept to others, including Boeing and 3M. Polymerland, GE Plastic s distribution
arm, began distributing technical documentation over the Web in 1994. It put its product catalog on
the Net in 1995 and in 1997 established a site for sales transactions. Its on line system enables
customers to search for product by name, number, or product characteristics, download product

The week had been strenuous, yet productive. The multiple meetings with fellow organizations
and countless hours of volunteer services depleted my energy. Add the hours of academic work,
and well, I could never complain that my life was uneventful. On this eventful day, the Social
Justice Fellows were holding our monthly guest speaker meeting. Although at the time I was
feeling lethargic, the monthly meetings always gave me a boost of inspiration. I have an affinity
towards academia and activism, but an even stronger affinity towards intellectual discourse.
Which these meetings never left me disappointed. On this day our guest speakers were a group
of community activist, mental health workers, and a few professors. For the hour we discussed
intersectional systems of oppression that affect black women (and people of color), ways as
activist that we may combat these inequalities, and the psychological impact of unbalanced power
structures create for the individual. The discussion was thought provoking; as always, however I
found myself in a conundrum. Here I sat in a room with women whom I admired and also worked
with. Their passions an infinite spectrum ranging from environmental justice to demanding a pay
increase for our cafeteria workers. I shared almost every part of my existence with these
women. We shared a common living space, attended the same classes, and faithfully crowded in the

46. Good Communication Within A Business Environment
Abstract
Communication is one of the most important skills that people utilize everyday. Mainly people use
this to exchange ideas and develop interpersonal relationships. The specific reasons it is key to
have good communication within a business environment is that it will assist in the success of a
business as well as developing required professional relationships. Research has been conducted into
six of the most key communication aspects that effect businesses in the previous sentences. These
six are; communication channel, non verbal communication, correct wording, cultural conflicts,
personal perception and he quantity of communication. If these aspects are not considered for a
reasonable amount of time before the commencement of a day they can have detrimental affects on
the business, by business relationships being damaged, or never formed, and without these
relationships it will be harder for a business to succeed.
Before we can discuss why communication is vital we must define it, it is defined as The
imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing, or using some other medium.
(Oxford, 2015) Communication is key based on this definition not only in business but also just in
life. It is also a difficult object to get right, and needs to be planned thoroughly before continuing.
(Dewatripont Triole 2005, p. 1217) This supported by many other authors. The question has been
posed, Does communication always have a positive effect on a business?

47. Globalization Assignment
Written Assignment Unit 7
POLS 1503 Globalization
Introduction
As our world becomes more connected, the free travel of people and goods continue to rise in
dramatic fashion. There are many benefits such as increased trade, improved access to imported
goods, increased tourism and exposure to new cultures. With these benefits comes a risk of bringing
diseases across international borders. International travel and trade has brought new challenges to
public health care, and the threat of deadly illnesses spreading rapidly.
If the movement of people, food, and manufactured goods can have such a negative impact on
public health, should steps be taken to reduce these flows?
There are always risks with travel and imports. The benefits to the economy and increased access
to goods are worth the risks. However, in cases of emergency, it is completely reasonable to limit
trade and travel from affected areas. When cases of mad cow disease are detected, it is common to
block imports from the affect nations (Levin Institute, 2017a). During the outbreak of ebola in
Africa in 2014, the Obama administration opted for a temporary travel ban from west
Africa (Roberts, 2014). During the threat of an epidemic spreading across borders, extreme
measures have to be taken.
What other options are there for lowering the spread of global diseases?
International public health officials have made recommendations to help prevent the spread of
disease. These actions include a plan to monitor for new

48. Dietary Guidelines For The Diet And Chronic Disease Essay
This article was to examine how the US government uses dietary guidelines for Americans and
how the guidelines were supposed to help us eat and stay healthy. Diet and chronic diseases are
sometimes connected. For example, it is proven that nutrient deficiency disease like scurvy can be
cured by consuming the lost nutrients. However, it is also shown that some nutrient exposure can
cause chronic illness such as energy, fats, sodium dietary fiber, and food exposures, etc. making it
difficult to set dietary guidelines. In addition to some nutrient causing chronic diseases, nondietary
factors such as stress, lack of exercise, smoking and other environmental factors are linked to
causing chronic illnesses (Slavin, 2012).
The relationship between diet and chronic disease made the federal government to issue dietary
guidelines for Americans since1980 and publication of dietary guidelines were made every five
years. The dietary guideline is in response to the public s desire for authoritative, consistent
guidelines on diet and health (Slavin, 2012). One of the reasons for developing the dietary
guidelines was to provide science based advice for two years old or older to help prevent chronic
diseases and promote health. Another reason why dietary guidelines were created was to lay a good
foundation for federal nutrition programs and nutrition education programs and serve as a basis for
research gaps and priorities (Slavin, 2012). Also, the government wants to make sure the

49. The Feast Of The Goat Book Analysis
The Feast of the Goat by Mario Vargas LLosa
Much like Bolano, LLosa s book is also character driven It was speculation when I first started
reading Feast of the Goat but the further into the book I read, the more I come to know more
about the traumatic experiences taking place. The characters were driven with fear: the assassins
who killed Trujillo and Urania who recalled her experiences at her young during her encounter with
Trujillo. For example, in chapter twelve, Salvador spoke with Father Fortin about his mission to kill
Trujillo. On one hand, there was a side of him knowing the consequences of caring out the
assassination and as he put it, wondering once he killed a man if he would go to hell. On the
other hand, there was a side of him that drove him into understanding why Trujillo had to die.
During his conversation with Father Fortin, he spoke of Trujillo and his actions: What they re
doing to the bishops, to the churches, that disgusting campaign television, on the radio, in the
papers (LLosa 184). He knew right away that he had to cut off the hydra s head (184). Upon the
issue regarding Urania, she and her Aunt Adelina recall her father Agustin Cabral (Egghead) and
about the letter in The Public Forum that lead to her dad falling into disgrace. However as the
story goes on the timeline does shift its course and ends up back and forth between the events that
occurred before and after what took place at the Mahogany house. For example, chapter fourteen

The purpose of this lab is to compare and contrast each fast food choice and view the results as to
which will contain the most and the least fat. I think the Carl s burger will have the thickest layer
of fat because it has the most saturated fat in comparison to all the others. And I think the
McDonald s Chicken Sandwich will have the thinnest layer of fat because the amount of saturated
fatis the lowest compared to the others.
Introduction:
Our society feeds off fat, both literally and figuratively. Magazines are telling us the top five
ways to quickly burn off that fat and food companies are assuring us that their product is fat free .
But what exactly is fat, in this lab we explore the categories of fat and their influences in our lives.
Firstly, we must compare and contrast the different types of known fats.

the menu, just order a cup or glass of water, this is always free and always much healthier than
any drinks the restaurant provides. Now out of everything discussed, most importantly is to know

51. The Rich And The Rest Vs Grapes Of Wrath
The world revolves around money. Those small little coins and paper notes control the modern
society. People who have money in abundance or enough to live a comfortable life see money as
a positive object and as a source of success. However, people who are unfortunate enough to not
have a sufficient amount of money, see money as an unfair and cruel means to live by. This
wealth gap has been prominent throughout history and still is today. It plagues millions of people
around the world. Two great sources that discuss the unjust differences between social classes are
Steinbeck s 1939 novel The Grapes of Wrath and Pazzanse s article called The Rich and the Rest .
The Grapes of Wrath encompasses the life of the poor migrant farmers during the... Show more

In The Grapes of Wrath, Ruthie and Winfield are laying on their mattress in the Weedpatch
camp, when they both tell Ma Joad about being belittled by another kid. Winfield says that he
had socked the kid at the fact That kid says we was Okies , he said in an outraged voice. He says
he wasn t no Okie cause he come from Oregon. Says we was goddam Okies (Steinbeck 358 359).
Winfield and Ruthie s anger toward the other boy represents the anger of the poor toward the
rich. Since a large percentage of the upper class mock the poor, accusing them of being lazy and
not trying hard enough, the impecunious develop a sense of resentment toward the upper class. In
this case the upper class dehumanizes the poor by calling them derogatory terms such as Okie .
The kid who was from Oregon, a state which was unaffected by the economic problems resulting
from The Dust Bowl, thought that he was better than the Okies even though that is not true. The
wealth gap has a major hand in this sense of arrogance by the rich and the segregation resulting
from it. Moreover, this sense of egotism portrayed by the rich is also seen in The Rich and the Rest
through Pazzanses depiction of the difference of the upbringing of poor children compared to rich
children. Whilst discussing the effects of the amount of money has on children, Pazzanse makes a
connection between the area where children live to his/her potential wealth asserting, the longer
children are exposed to better environments, the better they do economically in the future.
Whichever city or state children grow up in also radically affects whether they ll move out of
poverty (Pazzanse). As established, ones area of living greatly affects their potential to get out of
poverty.

52. All Animals Are Equal By Essay
Argumentative Essay: All Animals are Equal
In his book all animals are equal, Singer argues that human beings should extend to non human
species the same equality of consideration that is extended to fellow human beings. He based his
argument on the fact that past liberation movements aimed at condemning discriminations based on
gender and sex had been declared absurd at their onset, but had later on yielded fruits. This
discrimination against animals, he argues, is similar to these past discriminations. For this reason,
he wants the human species to consider non human animals as having rights just as humans have. In
his opinion, the only criterion of moral importance that succeeds in including human beings and
excluding all non humans, is their membership in the homo sapiens species category, and using
this membership as a criterion of moral importance, is completely arbitrary. In other words Singer
believes that we should attach importance to the interests of individuals without regard to their
species (Daly, 1997). A human being should not be considered superior to a cow just because one
is a cow and the other is a dog.
Contrary to this argument however, Singer s view is not very radical since human beings and non
human animals have different interests, and so the treatment of both species the same will only
mean giving fair amounts of different treatment. Singer gives examples of the Black Liberation
movements and the fight for women s rights (Moore Parker, 2007). If

54. Essay On The Civil War On African American Women
The Civil War can barely be called humane , but it was key to bringing out the human side in
many people. Women, children, and African Americans were among these people who changed
the ways of society at that time. African Americans were slaves at this time, and most fought for
the North. Some claim they were the best fighters; ordinarily, they fought for their freedom. The
54th Massachusetts was an army of all black soldiers who showed great courage under fire.
Some African Americans earned the Medal of Honor. Shaw, the leader of the 54th, wanted the
best weapons an equal pay for his soldiers. Most were escaped slaves that became heroes in the
North. Women revolutionized the medical fields. They created a system called triage which
assessed the level of urgency the patients. A woman named Clara Barton was a nurse who went on
to found the Red Cross. Some wrote letters to lonely soldiers, some took wounded into their
homes. They comforted soldiers on their deathbed, and also aided surgeons with surgery. Some
women acted as spies for the North or South. However, some women disguised themselves as men
