Apple Computer redefined the portable digital music player market with its launch of the iPod digital
music player. This began in January of 2001, when it introduced its jukebox software called iTunes.
This software enabled Macintosh users to import songs from audio CD s converting them to MP3
format and storing them on the computer s hard drive. It later launched the iPod digital music player in
October of 2001. The iPod was designed to synch to songs and playlists from iTunes via a Firewire
cable connection. Once music was downloaded, the iPod provided for 10 hours of continuous play
from its rechargeable lithium polymer battery. Media is stored on iPod s internal hard disk (Day,
2005).
The iPod has evolved with subsequent product generations so that it could be used by both Windows
and Macintosh users with iTunes software being made available for each operating system. The iPod
features the company s patent pending, Click Wheel, which combines a touch sensitive wheel with
five push buttons for one handed navigation. Apple touts this feature as one of the industry s first
(Day, 2005).
In October 2005, Apple introduced the new iPod containing a 2.5 inch color screen that enables it to
display album artwork and photos, and play video including music videos, video podcasts, home
movies, short films and television shows. The iPod lineup now includes a 30GB model holding up to

Technology And Tactics That Changed World War I Essay
Technology and Tactics that Changed World War I World War I (WWI) was supposed to be the war to
end all wars. It was also known as the Great War; the First War. World War I officially started on July
28, 1914, triggered by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the throne of Austria
Hungary. The Archduke was assassinated by a Yugoslav Nationalist named Gavrilo Princip in
Sarajevo on June 28, 1914. WWI saw the greatest advancement in technologies. Wars bring out the
worse in humans, WWI was no exception. Only 15 years after man first took flight in Kitty Hawk,
North Carolina, Italy introduced airplanes for the first time in warfare. The Italians used them as
reconnaissance platforms and as an instrument of death (Maclsaac, 2015). The Italians used airplanes
to dropped bombs on ground troops. Submarines had been around for years, but during WWI,
submarines began to fulfil their potential as a major threat. The German military is the first to
effectively use submarines. Germany demonstrated to the world how deadly and effective submarines
were under water. The German Navy dominated the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, unchallenged for
years due to the used of submarines. Great Britain was the first introduced tanks to world. At first,
tanks were unreliable, but the Germans refined, fixed, and upgraded their tanks and changed the
course of warfare with it deadly capabilities. WWI also brought about the creation of chemical
warfare, machine gun,

Argumentative Essay On Hypnotism
Hypnotism is defined as a state of consciousness where a person loses power over their actions.
Hypnosis is used in multiple kinds of therapy. In psychotherapy, it can be used to treat conditions
more effectively. When hypnosis is used on top of psychotherapy to treat disorders such as obesity,
insomnia, anxiety, and hypertension, it is more effective than doing just therapy in over half of the
cases. But, it isn t known how effective hypnosis is for disorders such as dermatological issues or
irritable bowel syndrome. (Soundview Prep). Hypnosis has so far been shown as effective in easing
pain. This includes the extreme pains of cancer, labor, bone marrow aspirations, and burn wound
debridement (Soundview Prep). Hypnotism has also been used ... Show more content on

There are three major theories in hypnotism. One is that hypnotizability is affected by a person s
desire to be hypnotized. If someone wants to be hypnotized by the person, then they will be more
likely to be hypnotized. The second is that hypnotizability is affected by how suggestible someone is.
If they are open to suggestions then they will be more likely to be hypnotized. The third is that
hypnotism is another state of consciousness they are not conscious and are blindly just following any
request made to them. These are the three main theories that are the most meaningful. Evidence has
shown that responsiveness to hypnosis may be hereditary. A study shows that identical twins are more
likely than fraternal twins to have similar levels of hypnotizability. All research shows that personality
characteristics do not affect hypnotizability. These include gullibility, aggressiveness or passiveness,
and imagination. But, the only trait so far known to link to hypnotizability is how easily someone is
absorbed by leisurely activities such as listening to

West Des Moines Structural Architecture
West Des Moines holds a wide range of structural appearances that possess different purposes and
stand for different ideas. Variation sets buildings and its surrounding areas that are privately owned
apart from those that are open to the public. Although, the significance behind structures may go into
deeper meanings. Some hold specific purposes that involve religion while others stand to serve on
more secular grounds. If we take the time to look around, we can discover how interior and exterior
design conveys distinct meaning. By entering into these buildings, we may discover the diverse
functions they serve in relation to structural engineering and unique aesthetics. The framework for
centralized control within different societal environments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interior and exterior features set these types of buildings apart from others. The City Hall serves
as a control institution in the city of West Des Moines, managing many areas of importance.
Buildings, like this, are where a sort of elite power controls some sort of economic, social, or political
role in society. Therefore, a structure like this is classified as a centralized source of power in the
community. Architecture under this category typically holds structural uniformity, is surrounded by
flagpoles, has organized landscape directing to the main entrance, and water features. The West Des
Moines city hall has all of these common features included presence that is similarly found in other
governmental connected architectural structures. Outside of the West Des Moines City Hall, there are
three specific flag poles to signify West Des Moines (on the left), The United States (in the middle),
and the State of Iowa (on the right). Looking at the flags that appear near the entrance help recognize
that this building as an important structure in not only Iowa but West Des Moines community itself.
Meanwhile, the building itself has a focal point entrance, with symmetrical characteristics. Centralized
control within this type of economic organization requires software, security, systematic arrangement,
record keeping, and uniformity found in the architectural composition. The key elements associated
with the interior aspects of the City Hall structure primarily deals with record keeping to ensure an
organized system. Office spaces, filing cabinets, and a multitude of technological devices are
necessary to have throughout the entire building. A largely connected technology network along with
file cabinets help store important information that ensures

Analysis Of Emily Dickinson
From another perspective. Can human creatures do without the windows of soul eyes and belong to
the world of feelings and senses? A diversity of thoughts for a theme that raises contradictions. I think
no, you think maybe, but what does Emily Dickinson think? What does the blind poet that experiences
the world from her room think? Between lines and stanzas Emily Dickinson expresses herself, as a
passionate poet, without barriers, open minded and sincere. With a diamond hard language that reflects
light to the dark, hope and inspiration till the last moment she attracts us to her unique world. By
reading her pearls in white paper, we get deep into thoughts in our brain. Emily Dickinson s poetry
speaks powerfully to us. It captures us inside our mind and recreates meaningful events and memories.
It helps us to understand and even to re live our own experiences through her intensity and with her
emotional clarity. In the first stanza of Before she got her eye put out, I liked as well to see / As other
creatures, that have eyes / And know no other way At first it is indicated that the speaker used to enjoy
seeing and it was the only way she could experience the world. Dickinson plays with I an eye to
express that her eyes are her identity and without them she would be dead . By using the dashes, she
lets us stop and think deeply. In the second stanza, the readers encounter with the image of the sky that

Essay on Deterioration in Long Distance Relationship
Introduction
Long distance relationship, known as LDR is model of a romantic relationship that takes place when
the partners are separated by significant distance. I have been experiencing this kind of relationship
since 10 months ago and still going. As an international student studying abroad, my boyfriend and I
separated within thousand miles between Indonesia and Australia. Although the time different is not
far different and communication device is not a problem, deterioration still appears in our relationship.
Habits and dating style changed create insecure feelings that raise negative perception of relationship.
Fighting and grumpy feelings most likely occur when we are having a bad mood while ego controls
the logic. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Believe and faith within each other slowly fades away and changed with ego.
Along with our relationship deterioration, I begin to think about our future. We have been in
relationship for 3 years and this long distance relationship interrupt our romance. We used to be a fun,
joyful, understanding and cool couple. Although, I feel that there is no sign that he would wait for me
or ask me to marry me. Everything is just plain. I do not have any excitement anymore to continue this
relationship because we have no goals. This LDR actually stressed me and I do not want to waste my
time to person who not even has thought about our future. Future and certainty are clearly important in
this LDR relationship. Every serious couple would go through anything to reach their future goals.
And actually LDR is not really a hard matters regarding to bright future. People who have future of
their relationship would have happily gone through any kind of relationship because they already
know that their pain would worth for the future.
# Commitment
In long distance relationship, commitment is required to built a success relationship. Commitment
made relationship grow stronger and also built faith and believe in each other. Without a strong
commitment, LDR would be easy to get deteriorated, in fact that in ordinary relationship (without any
distance apart) the absence of commitment would break up the relationship. My relationship was built

Human Relationships and Happiness
Human Relationships and Happiness Happiness is only experienced when you share it with others
around you. Your friends, family, significant others, peers, and books all show a person how it is better
to share your happiness with others than to experience it by yourself. In songs the artists always sing
about how they are happier with people and how it is hard to share things by being alone. Although
being alone can be nice and it gives you a feeling of serenity, it isn t the same as it would be with
someone else because you are able to share it with family, friends, significant others, and books. All of
these factors help with how you experience your own happiness. Family is a key part to a person s
happiness. Your mother and father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By getting help from friends and people that you love it helps you grow as a person and it makes you
stronger. When you don t have friends like this it is hard to feel happy and to share that happiness
which makes these relationships more meaningful than being alone and not being able to have those
laughs with others. After reading so many books I have come to realize that the only time a character
is sad or upset about something is because they aren t able to share something that has happened in
their life. For example, in the book Beastly the main character is popular and has everything he wants
but isn t able to share the fact that he won class president because his father isn t ever there for him.
But because he is so selfish he is turned into a beast and the only way to change back is to have
someone fall in love with him not by looks but what is on the inside. He was always sad and depressed
because he wasn t able to find someone that would love him for who he really is, but when he finds
someone he shares a connection with her and begins to express happiness. This book is a perfect
example as to why human relationships equal happiness. Happiness is only experienced when you
share it with others around you. You re family, friends, significant others, and even in books, show
how happiness can only be achieved when you share it. Like Chris

Helen Keller Goals
Since Helen Keller s early years in life she has always been blind, deaf and mute. Members in her
family knew there was sure to be many difficulties in teaching her basic life routines, and from where
the family stood there was no way to teach her. Helen sometimes got so frustrated she would lash out.
Until one day her family, with hopes to teach her, hired someone with experience to help. The teacher
s name is Annie Sullivan. Sullivan had some difficulties getting through to Helen, but once she did
there was no stopping Helen Keller from learning. Little after that everyone knew Helen was destined
for greatness, she started school and then succeeded to move on to college. She rose to her educational
heights and continued to rise up in the world. Despite Helen Keller s setbacks, during her lifetime she
accomplished great things that few people, who have the privilege to see, hear and speak, can achieve.
From a young age Helen Keller attended many schools and even college, she succeeded at each school
while still managing and overcoming any setbacks with her disability. Helen first began school classes
at the Perkins Institute. The director of Perkins Michael Anagnos and the well known Alexander
Graham Bell, both saw great potential in Helen Keller from the beginning of her life. Though Keller
was making progress and having letters published at the Perkins Institute, a misunderstanding incident
resulted in Helen Keller leaving Perkins. (Helen Adams Keller 1,2). After Helen

Questions On The Theoretical Lens
Jesus F. Garcia 6/15/2015 Midterm Question 1 Part A Theoretical lens refers to a set of assumptions
made, that are composed of factors such as past experiences, cultural background, and religion. This
concept can be problematic when a society attempts to assume the way things will be and turn out to
be unexpected. Dennis Phillips explains, people often learn to understand things based on the set of
theories and belies with which they were raised. (Seminar 1, June 1) In child development, theoretical
lens of developing countries can ultimately hurt the way a society views the progress of its future
generations. Additionally, outcomes that are outside of the theoretical lens are often rejected, which
can cause distress to those individuals who are not conforming to these expectations. Different
countries have different assumptions about how the world works and the role that each individual
plays in it. These individuals, such as children, across the globe have different expectations from
society based on the region s theoretical lens. For example the main issues facing young people in
India will be the school versus work, the tradition of early arranged marriages, the caste system, and
the rights of women. (Gielen, 2004) The expectations of Indian culture are completely different from
those found in the United States for young people. The culture difference is key in how new
generations will develop in accordance to societies expectations. A young person in

Using A Polymer As A Material For Carbon Dioxide
Regev Trigalo

ENG 199 HW#3: Simplified Literature Review on Research Topic
My research involves the synthesizing polyamine starting from readily available building blocks
namely ethylene and carbon monoxide and then using that to capture carbon dioxide, an undesirable
greenhouse gas which contributes to global warming, from industrial processes. Currently, liquid
amines are used industrially and while they are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very
recyclable, and degrade quickly. The novel use of a polymer as a material for this purpose could solve
many of these issues.
I chose three articles to review to get a better understanding of the current work being done in the
field. The first, Absorbent Materials for Carbon Dioxide Capture from Large Anthropogenic Point
Sources by Christopher Jones gives an overview of materials currently being used to capture carbon
dioxide what I am attempting to do with polyamine. The second, Steam Stripping for Regeneration of
Supported Amine Based CO2 Adsorbents, also by Jones, is a communications that discusses
regeneration of the amine once it has been used for carbon dioxide capture. The third by Maschmeyer
entitled The Reductive Amination of Aldehydes and Ketones and the Hydrogenation of Nitriles:
Mechanistic Aspects and Selectivity Control relates to the reaction I am doing (reductive amination of
a polyketone). Furthermore, a review article will be particularly good for my purposes because it will

American English Vs. British English
Possible intro in part There no questioning the diversity of language both in the number of languages
and within each language its self. These varieties, brought on by differences in culture, class, region
and ethnics play a vital role to humanity. It is important for language to change and adapt because of
the Identity it provides culturally, regionally, and ethnically, the efficiency it provides in translations
and usage, and the new concepts it must cover. One of the main benefits of changes in a language is
the Identity provided by those changes. For example in history one large change in history established
a crucial identity, that of the American English vs British English. Due to the introduction of new
fauna and physical features, along with required interactions between those of different languages and
dialects including Spanish, German, Irish and Ameridian, the English language began to change (). It
was during the colonies vie for independence that the sense of Identity provided by subtle differences
in the language became important (). Noah Webster, a schoolmaster, acknowledged this when Webster
established the Federal English as he called it. In his reasoning s a new nation needed a new language
(Companion). The change in language helped distinguish America from a mere colony of Britain
while maintaining a connection to its roots.
While in the last case, language provided Identity between the Mother Nation and its child, it can also
provide Identity

Weavers of Revolution Essay

Allende and the Weavers of Revolution
In Peter Winn s Weavers of Revolution, a factory in Santiago, Chile fights for their independence
against the Chilean government of the 1970 s. While this rebellion is going on, presidential elections
are taking place and Salvador Allende is the presidential candidate which represents the common
people. The relation between Allende and the people he represents is a unique one because at first this
class, the working class, helps and supports Allende to become president, but then both parties realize
their different plans for the future and the working class actually contributes to the downfall of
Allende s presidency. At first, the working class heavily supported ... Show more content on

Once Allende becomes elected, the two revolutions which were supposed to compliment each other
actually start to work against each other. The first type of revolution is the revolution from below ,
which is characteristic of the workers in the Yarur rebelling against the Chilean government. The other
type is the revolution from above , this was the revolution common of the higher class like Allende
working towards workers rights. At first, the workers think that their revolution from below was only
helping Allende s revolution from above. The workers did things like form unions for the first time, or
were even so bold to strike against the mill in order to gain complete control over it. Strikes had
happened before which were about things like wages or unions, but this was different for the fact that
they wanted total control of the mill. Allende was forced to give the workers the power to control the
mill. This is just one of the examples of how the revolution from below sometimes coincided with or
complemented, but increasingly diverged from, the legalistic and modulated revolution from above
(141). For the most part in fact, the strategies of Allende were disrupted by the revolution from below
because of their need for extreme immediate progress. This was frustrating for Allende and his cabinet
because they were constantly at the demand of the working class they falsely claimed to know and
represent. Local events in Chile from the lower class

BRCA Genetic Testing
UCLA researchers conducted an experiment and found out that other diagnostic tools are more
efficient and cost effective than universal screenings. This was overlooked by Dr. Patricia Ganz, the
director of the division of cancer prevention and control research at UCLA s Jonsson Comprehensive
cancer center. These researchers concluded the BRCA genetic test is too expensive to license
universally. This test usually costs $4,000 and is not worth it because of how rare BRCA mutations
are. In order to follow through with this test, the price would have to drop by ninety percent.
Researchers say that of 10,000 people, the BRCA test would only detect four cases of breast cancer
and two cases of ovarian cancer. This shows it is more cost effective ... Show more content on

These tests each do something different and can be performed at different periods of the pregnancy.
Amniocentesis tests can be done fifteen to twenty weeks during pregnancy and will remove some
amniotic fluid from the mother. This fluid will be tested for chemical indicators or used to create a
karyotype. An ultrasound is done a couple times during a pregnancy and looks for major structural
issues. Also, the fetus can be looked at during a fetoscopy where a fiber optic scope is inserted into the
uterus to examine the fetus. The last test is Chorionic Villus Sampling. This test can be performed
between eight and ten weeks where tissue from the placenta is removed and the parents will receive
results faster than most tests. These tests can help parents discover that their child may be in danger
due to a genetic disease. This could give a heads up to parents and look farther into the disease and its
consequences,
I feel it is very important to get genetic testing done because particular diseases could have major
effects. If a person really wants to get a test done, they would be willing to pay the price. This would
make the BRCA test more successful and doctors should only perform the test if the patient is willing
to pay for the

The Five Concepts From Resilient Leaders
This paper combines the five concepts from Resilient Leaders that Group 4 has considered important:
Vision, Character Counts: Integrity, Leader Will Have Tribulations, Leader and Crisis, Leader Self
Care. It discusses each topic and how they relate to Organizational Management and Leadership; and
it also presents three scriptures that sum up the responsibilities of a leader. Vision Organizations are
formed for a common purpose, a common goal. Vision is a clear focus on future endeavors, goals and
objectives that propel the leader and the followers forward with expectation and perseverance. The
vision is well embraced at an early stage in the process when the leader allows the team to discover
and own it (Dees, 2013). Jack Welch, former chairman and CRO of General Electric said: Good
business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly
drive it to completion . To be a resilient leader, one must focus on the present while working toward a
future end goal. It is imperative for visionary leaders to brief the followers on the vision. The lack of
vision will cause followers to sink into the lowest common denominators of lawlessness, discontent,
and even self destruction (Dees, 2015, p158). Having a vision allows a leader to strive to meet
milestone checkpoints along the way. Thus, followers can gauge how the organization is performing
and enjoy the satisfaction of working hard to meet an end result. Character Counts: Integrity

Through a little research on the internet, a website called Bodies Revealed informed me of the process
used to preserve the bodies, which is known as polymer preservation. The bodies that are used first are
embalmed according to standard procedures and perfused with a preserving agent to prevent the
normal tissue decay that takes place after death. After the body is embalmed, a trained dissector
prepares it, or a part of it, according to predetermined guidelines. Because of the degree of difficulty
involved in dissecting a full body specimen, it can take several months to complete. If the dissector is
working with individual organs, they can be prepared much more quickly. After the dissection is
complete, the specimens are thoroughly rinsed in cold running water, which removes as much of the
preserving agent as possible. Rinsing a full body specimen can take up to one week to finish. After the
rinsing, the specimen is ready to be dehydrated. They dehydrate the specimens by placing it in
acetone, which acts to replace all of the tissue water present in the specimen. The specimen is then
impregnated with a mixture of liquid silicone polymer and a crosslinker. The polymer hardens during
a curing process, which leaves a dry, odorless specimen that doesn t decompose. I had the

The Clash Of Zionism And Arab Nationalism Essay
Introduction to Middle East Politics
Midterm Essay
Minahil Tauseef
Clash of Nationalisms
The clash of Zionism and Arab nationalism has led to the longest running conflict in the history of the
world that shapes the politics of the Middle East to this day. The roots of the modern Arab Israeli
conflict can be found in the rise of Zionism and Arab nationalism towards the end of the 19th century.
The source of the conflict is territorial claims over a small piece of land that is the historical homeland
for two different nationalities. Palestine has historically held great significance for the Jews. Zionism
transformed that religious attachment and made it into a basis for a claim onnational grounds that this
is their national home. This set them in potential conflict with another nationality, the Arabs, who
seePalestine as historically and currently belonging to the Arabs, and in the Pan Islamic context, as
Muslim lands. Over the course of this paper, I will talk about why the Arab Israeli conflict was
inevitable and why these two ideologies were fated to clash.
In order to understand the clash, we must first understand the importance of the region that has been
the focus of two conflicting territorial claims. The Jewish claim to the state of Israel is rooted in the
nearly six thousand year old belief of Jews that Israel is the homeland promised to them by God in the
Torah. Jewish history has been a continuous cycle of exile and return to the promised land . The desire

After setting up the functional units, I had to decide on which product I would purchase and sell. At

Question 1a. Write a one page concise or two pages double spaced summary explaining the Federal
Reserve.
Basically, the Federal Reserve System is a banking system of the United States. It was created in
1913, with the enactment of the Federal reserve Act (2014). There are many responsibilities the
Federal Reserves has which include, supervision and regulation, monetary policy, payment services
and finally the financial stability. President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act, into a
law. There are also many events that led up to the signing of the Federal Reserve Act that stuck out to
me.
The money and banking systems weren t the same in Colonial America. Colonial banks were not
allowed to accept deposits from the public or make loans. Instead, they issued paper currency backed
by metals and goals. Colonists were also limited to using bartering, European coinage as their primary
means of exchange. The legislation created a uniform national currency and permitted only nationally
chartered banks to issue bank notes (2014).
There was a period of a free banking era. There was a huge need for a reliable banking system during
the civil war. Many banks did not keep enough money on hand to meet the normal demands. People
lost their confidence in the banks and then began to go take their money out. This triggered a
succession of bank failures. The Federal Reserve System had a severe financial crisis, in

The Ascent Of Mount Ventoux Summary
The Renaissance was a cultural, economic, and political movement that emerged in Italy in the
fifteenth century. The Renaissance marked the leap from the Medieval era to the Modern Age and
brought with it a great cultural transformation, not only of the arts, but also of the sciences, letters and
forms of thought. Francesco Petrarch and Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola were two Renaissance men
who changed the ideals and ways of seeing the world that emerged during the Medieval Age.
In the letter The Ascent of Mount Ventoux , Petrarch describes his human experience when he climbed
Mount Ventoux with his brother and his two servants. The reason why Petrarch wanted to achieve this
goal was for the simple fact of living a personal experience. Petrarch declared that my only motive
was the wish to see what so great an elevation had to offer. This statement allows us to observe the ...

In medieval thought, everything revolved around god and the church, where personal motives had no
purpose if they had no relationship with any divine being. Petrarch s personal experience had no
purpose in glorifying or seeking God, but rather in discovering truth and happiness on his own. This
new way of thinking was considered part of the Renaissance because Petrarch uses reason as a source
of knowledge, and seeks the truth through personal reflection and research.
On the other hand, Giovanni had to analyze and question a concept different from Petrarch. For
Giovanni, the idea of Abdala the Sarraceno and Hermes Trismegisto that man is an intermediary
between creatures and interpreter of nature by sense, reason and intelligence, are not enough to
understand the condition of human nature. In the Oration on the Dignity of Man written in 1486,
Giovanni explains to us why man is the most fortunate and prestigious being in the world, and why the
human being is an intermediary between animals and angels

Merciless Death in The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
In The Jilting of Granny Weatherall, Katherine Anne Porter gives readers a glimpse of the thoughts of
a woman about to die. Lying in her bed in her daughter Cornelia s house, eighty year old Granny
Weatherall drifts in and out of consciousness. Through her thoughts of events both current and

By the time her final hours arrive, Granny Weatherall has grown tired of people treating her like a

Violence Is A Straightforward Premise
Violence has a straightforward premise. We have a tendency to focus on what Žižek calls subjective
violence: demonstrations of strike, murder, dread and war. However, there are two different
assortments of target brutality: the symbolic violence found in speech , and systemic violence, the
often catastrophic consequences of the functioning of our economic and political systems . Žižek then
embarks to break down these types of objective violence, however he winds up concentrating totally
on the systemic assortment.
What never ceases to surprise is how the very same people who commit terrible acts of violence
towards their enemies can display warm humanity and gentle care for the members of their own
group. The display of contradictions is not in the least pointless: all the time it drives Žižek to turn up
real gems. His analysis of the suspect motivations of what he calls liberal communists the informed,
liberal working classes is a good example of parody: Liberal communists also love the student protests
which shattered France in May 1968: what an explosion of youthful energy and creativity! However a
main idea that stood out to me the most, was his idea on tolerance: My duty to be tolerant towards the
Other effectively means that I should not get too close him, intrude on his space. In other words, I
should respect his intolerance of my over proximity.
Philosopher Karl Popper further expands on Žižek s idea of Tolerance, by labeling it the Paradox of

strategy would be communication, for instance, involving each children s family to come and

Current Level of Informatics Knowledge and Informatics in Current Practice Health care information
management is a core competency for professional nurses. However, not all nurses and healthcare
providers have adequate knowledge of operational informatics. Just as technology has forced medical
records and documentation to evolve to computer based charting, nurses must also progress to rise
above competency in information management. According to the Technology Informatics Guiding
Educational Reform Summit (TIGER) Initiative, the vision for informatics prepared nurses includes
management and leadership, education, communication and collaboration, informatics design and
technology, policy, and culture (Hood, 2010). As an educator, the focus of nursing informatics lies in
word processing, spreadsheets and databases, online resources and public health information (PHI),
curriculum planning, e mail, interpretation of the electronic medical record (EMR), and online
continuing education.
Informatics in the Workplace
One of the most important forms of communication in the professional nursing educator role is
through electronic mail, or e mail. E mail etiquette is crucial to effective communication in the
workplace. As the program coordinator for a nurse assistant program, the responsibilities remain in the
ability to effectively communicate with other educators, business partners in the health fields, school

Kiwi Forest Birds
Before pests were introduced into New Zealand, it was home to thousands of birds and these all
evolved without the threat of predatory land mammals. Except for two species of bat, there were no
land mammals in New Zealand before humans arrived. Because of this, plants and animals did not
evolve defence mechanisms or any way to protect themselves from the predators. For instance, the
leaves of plants do not contain poisons to deter browsing mammals, while many birds and insects have
lost their ability to fly. Possums, rats, stoats, ferrets and feral cats all kill adult birds, their chicks and
raid their nests for eggs. They are also major competitors for sometimes wiping out entirely critical

Modern day parenting is far from easy, today s parents face many obstacles and sometimes can be way
too hard on the child. Parents work to protect the children and help them succeed in life whether that

crack down on the child which ultimately pushes them away. Teenagers are known to be distant and
stuck in a different world most of the time due to hormone changes, and outside influences such as

Within any company, managers must be reminded that the focus of a layoff is not on the actual

needs of the company and the position. If the individual is not fulfilling the position or if the position
is no longer necessary, the company must make the decision to let the person go. With this
perspective, managers can prevent as many negative emotions as possible and it will additionally

Even if a layoff is completed successfully and with little resistance, there are possible negative effects

* Decrease trust among valuable employees
* Hidden costs, such as severance packages, may cause the layoff to be ineffective
* Workplace morale may decrease
Companies are oftentimes hasty to undergo layoffs as they feel they are eliminating their ineffective

not guarantee that the valuable employees will remain loyal to the company and it is important that
managers do not depend too much on these employees. Layoffs can also decrease trust among the

The Myth Of Multitasking By Nass Summary
Multitasking is an action where one person can ultimately act on two tasks or more at once. In the
article, The Myth of Multitasking , Nass summarizes that the cause of this issue is simply that the
human brain slows the thought process of doing multiple tasks at once instead of one task at a time.
This conflict is important because it poses potential risks to us in a mental or physical way. We should
teach the younger generation this valuable information which will reduce the amount of problems that
deal with multitasking in the future. In Nass research, one of his arguments was that multitasking is a
way to slow your mind down while succeeding in tasks slower than usual. People who chronically
multitask show an enormous range of deficits. They re basically terrible at all sorts of cognitive tasks,
including multitasking (Flatow). He says that these results show that people who believe that they are
multitasking effectively aren t actually multitasking effectively. They just think that they are and they
wrong because they had made less progress combined than at one task at a time. In my view, I believe
that multitasking is impossible to do because I was taught that the human ... Show more content on

As teaching children with ADHD may cause several issues and concerns in the classroom, developing

Manet s Atlantia
In Briony Fer s discussion of the formation of modern art, she invites us to view the problematic
character of the modern art as a form of difference or incoherence (21,27). In this paper, I will
delineate her argument within the framework of Manet s Olympia and then add more dimensions to
the controversies involved in understanding Olympia by drawing upon T.J. Clark s criticism and
Manet s own voice. We will see that while Fer locates the painting within a dynamic current engaged
in dialogues with both the past and the future, Clark cares less about the time flow than about the
system of meaning determinant within its contemporary social political context. Manet himself,
however, is rather oblivious to the historically critical position ... Show more content on

As she defines the modern as a difference cultivated in the practice of art (21), in order to maker her
point, her analysis of Olympia dwells upon the conflicts between the painting and the artistic
conventions. She makes it clear that the incoherence occurs at two closely related levels, namely the
level of technique and the level of subject matter (27). With regard to the former, it seems that Manet
invokes the tradition of nude just so he can discard it. There is a lack of compliance...with a tradition
of painting of the nude, in which the nude female body was offered for contemplation in an idealized
form , and such departure from the technical convention of art making further enables the construction
of conflicts at the narrative level (Fer, 24): Olympia exhibits sharp control over her own sexuality in
an almost shameless way, yet the disgraceful defiance is diluted by the rich material embellishment,
the classicized title and the allegorical poem. She is a classless prostitute (for any reference to class
dissolves into the shadowy classical traditions invoked), but is a mysterious goddess at the same time.
The disregard of artistic practice combined with the ambiguous iconography leads to a further level of
incoherence of meaning or representation, which Fer seems to think, illustrates the difference that
proclaims modern art as a new phenomenon in its own

After reading so many books I have come to realize that the only time a character is sad or upset about something is because they aren t able to share something that has happened in their life. • 12. Questions On The Theoretical Lens Jesus F. Garcia 6/15/2015 Midterm Question 1 Part A Theoretical lens refers to a set of assumptions made, that are composed of factors such as past experiences, cultural background, and religion. This concept can be problematic when a society attempts to assume the way things will be and turn out to be unexpected. Dennis Phillips explains, people often learn to understand things based on the set of theories and belies with which they were raised. (Seminar 1, June 1) In child development, theoretical lens of developing countries can ultimately hurt the way a society views the progress of its future generations. Additionally, outcomes that are outside of the theoretical lens are often rejected, which can cause distress to those individuals who are not conforming to these expectations. Different countries have different assumptions about how the world works and the role that each individual plays in it. These individuals, such as children, across the globe have different expectations from society based on the region s theoretical lens. For example the main issues facing young people in India will be the school versus work, the tradition of early arranged marriages, the caste system, and the rights of women. (Gielen, 2004) The expectations of Indian culture are completely different from those found in the United States for young people. The culture difference is key in how new generations will develop in accordance to societies expectations. A young person in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Currently, liquid amines are used industrially and while they are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very recyclable, and degrade quickly. These varieties, brought on by differences in culture, class, region and ethnics play a vital role to humanity. It is important for language to change and adapt because of the Identity it provides culturally, regionally, and ethnically, the efficiency it provides in translations and usage, and the new concepts it must cover. One of the main benefits of changes in a language is the Identity provided by those changes. For example in history one large change in history established a crucial identity, that of the American English vs British English. Due to the introduction of new fauna and physical features, along with required interactions between those of different languages and dialects including Spanish, German, Irish and Ameridian, the English language began to change (). It was during the colonies vie for independence that the sense of Identity provided by subtle differences in the language became important (). Noah Webster, a schoolmaster, acknowledged this when Webster established the Federal English as he called it. In his reasoning s a new nation needed a new language (Companion). The first type of revolution is the revolution from below , which is characteristic of the workers in the Yarur rebelling against the Chilean government. The other type is the revolution from above , this was the revolution common of the higher class like Allende working towards workers rights. At first, the workers think that their revolution from below was only helping Allende s revolution from above. The workers did things like form unions for the first time, or were even so bold to strike against the mill in order to gain complete control over it. Strikes had happened before which were about things like wages or unions, but this was different for the fact that they wanted total control of the mill. Allende was forced to give the workers the power to control the mill. This is just one of the examples of how the revolution from below sometimes coincided with or complemented, but increasingly diverged from, the legalistic and modulated revolution from above (141). For the most part in fact, the strategies of Allende were disrupted by the revolution from below because of their need for extreme immediate progress. The Five Concepts From Resilient Leaders This paper combines the five concepts from Resilient Leaders that Group 4 has considered important: Vision, Character Counts: Integrity, Leader Will Have Tribulations, Leader and Crisis, Leader Self Care. It discusses each topic and how they relate to Organizational Management and Leadership; and it also presents three scriptures that sum up the responsibilities of a leader. Vision Organizations are formed for a common purpose, a common goal. Vision is a clear focus on future endeavors, goals and objectives that propel the leader and the followers forward with expectation and perseverance. The vision is well embraced at an early stage in the process when the leader allows the team to discover and own it (Dees, 2013). Jack Welch, former chairman and CRO of General Electric said: Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion . To be a resilient leader, one must focus on the present while working toward a future end goal. It is imperative for visionary leaders to brief the followers on the vision. The lack of vision will cause followers to sink into the lowest common denominators of lawlessness, discontent, and even self destruction (Dees, 2015, p158). Having a vision allows a leader to strive to meet milestone checkpoints along the way. Thus, followers can gauge how the organization is performing and enjoy the satisfaction of working hard to meet an end result. Character Counts: Integrity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through a little research on the internet, a website called Bodies Revealed informed me of the process used to preserve the bodies, which is known as polymer preservation. The bodies that are used first are embalmed according to standard procedures and perfused with a preserving agent to prevent the normal tissue decay that takes place after death. After the body is embalmed, a trained dissector prepares it, or a part of it, according to predetermined guidelines. Because of the degree of difficulty involved in dissecting a full body specimen, it can take several months to complete. If the dissector is working with individual organs, they can be prepared much more quickly. After the dissection is complete, the specimens are thoroughly rinsed in cold running water, which removes as much of the preserving agent as possible. Rinsing a full body specimen can take up to one week to finish. After the rinsing, the specimen is ready to be dehydrated. They dehydrate the specimens by placing it in acetone, which acts to replace all of the tissue water present in the specimen. The specimen is then impregnated with a mixture of liquid silicone polymer and a crosslinker. The polymer hardens during a curing process, which leaves a dry, odorless specimen that doesn t decompose. I had the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Clash Of Zionism And Arab Nationalism Essay Introduction to Middle East Politics Midterm Essay Minahil Tauseef Clash of Nationalisms The clash of Zionism and Arab nationalism has led to the longest running conflict in the history of the world that shapes the politics of the Middle East to this day. The roots of the modern Arab Israeli conflict can be found in the rise of Zionism and Arab nationalism towards the end of the 19th century. The source of the conflict is territorial claims over a small piece of land that is the historical homeland for two different nationalities. Palestine has historically held great significance for the Jews. Zionism transformed that religious attachment and made it into a basis for a claim onnational grounds that this is their national home. This set them in potential conflict with another nationality, the Arabs, who seePalestine as historically and currently belonging to the Arabs, and in the Pan Islamic context, as Muslim lands. Over the course of this paper, I will talk about why the Arab Israeli conflict was inevitable and why these two ideologies were fated to clash. In order to understand the clash, we must first understand the importance of the region that has been the focus of two conflicting territorial claims. The Jewish claim to the state of Israel is rooted in the nearly six thousand year old belief of Jews that Israel is the homeland promised to them by God in the Torah. Jewish history has been a continuous cycle of exile and return to the promised land . The desire to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We have a tendency to focus on what Žižek calls subjective violence: demonstrations of strike, murder, dread and war. However, there are two different assortments of target brutality: the symbolic violence found in speech , and systemic violence, the often catastrophic consequences of the functioning of our economic and political systems . Žižek then embarks to break down these types of objective violence, however he winds up concentrating totally on the systemic assortment. What never ceases to surprise is how the very same people who commit terrible acts of violence towards their enemies can display warm humanity and gentle care for the members of their own group. The display of contradictions is not in the least pointless: all the time it drives Žižek to turn up real gems. His analysis of the suspect motivations of what he calls liberal communists the informed, liberal working classes is a good example of parody: Liberal communists also love the student protests which shattered France in May 1968: what an explosion of youthful energy and creativity! • 38. The Myth Of Multitasking By Nass Summary Multitasking is an action where one person can ultimately act on two tasks or more at once. In the article, The Myth of Multitasking , Nass summarizes that the cause of this issue is simply that the human brain slows the thought process of doing multiple tasks at once instead of one task at a time. This conflict is important because it poses potential risks to us in a mental or physical way. We should teach the younger generation this valuable information which will reduce the amount of problems that deal with multitasking in the future. In Nass research, one of his arguments was that multitasking is a way to slow your mind down while succeeding in tasks slower than usual. People who chronically multitask show an enormous range of deficits. They re basically terrible at all sorts of cognitive tasks, including multitasking (Flatow). He says that these results show that people who believe that they are multitasking effectively aren t actually multitasking effectively. In this paper, I will delineate her argument within the framework of Manet s Olympia and then add more dimensions to the controversies involved in understanding Olympia by drawing upon T.J. Clark s criticism and Manet s own voice. We will see that while Fer locates the painting within a dynamic current engaged in dialogues with both the past and the future, Clark cares less about the time flow than about the system of meaning determinant within its contemporary social political context. As she defines the modern as a difference cultivated in the practice of art (21), in order to maker her point, her analysis of Olympia dwells upon the conflicts between the painting and the artistic conventions. She makes it clear that the incoherence occurs at two closely related levels, namely the level of technique and the level of subject matter (27). With regard to the former, it seems that Manet invokes the tradition of nude just so he can discard it. There is a lack of compliance...with a tradition of painting of the nude, in which the nude female body was offered for contemplation in an idealized form , and such departure from the technical convention of art making further enables the construction of conflicts at the narrative level (Fer, 24): Olympia exhibits sharp control over her own sexuality in an almost shameless way, yet the disgraceful defiance is diluted by the rich material embellishment, the classicized title and the allegorical poem. She is a classless prostitute (for any reference to class dissolves into the shadowy classical traditions invoked), but is a mysterious goddess at the same time. The disregard of artistic practice combined with the ambiguous iconography leads to a further level of incoherence of meaning or representation, which Fer seems to think, illustrates the difference that proclaims modern art as a new phenomenon in its own ...
