Implementation of Section 135 of Companies Act, 2013: Corporate Social Responsibility
Abstract
In recent past, the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility has gained much attention. The CSR
and citizenship which aims at invoking the corporate conscience whereby the companies incur
short term cost but these short term cost do not provide immediate financial benefit, instead these
costs promote positive social environmental change. The Companies Act of 2013 which replaced
the 60 years old Act of 1956 gave a provision with the concept of mandatory CSR. This research
paper is focused on the provision relating to mandatory spending and disclosure relating to
Corporate Social Responsibility activities. It also discusses the major loopholes of provision which
hinders the practical applicability of Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013
Introduction
India has undergone a process of economic liberalization and comes under top 5 fastest growing
economies in World over past three decades . The Industrial sector crated abundant wealth over
the period of 10 years, yet the growth has trickled down the large population of the nation with
lack of access to basic amenities such as sanitary, clean water, health facilities and the list goes on.
India is ranked as 135th amongst 187 countries as per the latest Human Development Report.
Inspite of India being recognized as global player, the nation is home to largest number of poor,

A Known Scribbler Frances Burney Analysis
When reading A Known Scribbler: Frances Burney On Literary Life, Burney could be confused as
a fictional character. For people who are familiar with the epistolary form, the collection of Burney
s letters presents an odd feeling of dissociation where it is possible to temporarily forget Burney is
real. A contrast to Evelina whose letters are meant to emphasize the protagonist s authenticity. Yet,
this effect proves letters provide a dual function. On one hand, the reader expects the letter to
contain the private thoughts of the writer. On the other, there is the acknowledgement that the
writer will inevitably alter events to their perspective. Morever, Burney s lack of change in her
writingsuggests life writing and fictionare similar. Because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Clearly, Burney presents the merging of the two forms and reduces it to a simplification. The
identity of a literary work, whether real or not, is impossible to define. Because if Burney s
letters could be seen as a work of fiction or if Evelina is categorized as life writing, there would
be few arguments. Understandably, people would argue Burney s letters is life writing because
Burney was a real person. However, to the less knowledgeable reader, they might not realize it. If
they were told A Known Scribbler: Frances Burney On Literary Life is an epistolary novel
without knowing she existed, there is no way the reader could state the difference between this
and Evelina. Or, if someone argued Evelina is fictitious because there is no records of her
anywhere, by categorizing Evelina as an autobiography is enough authority to make her authentic.
Therefore, because there is no other distinguishing characteristic besides choice, the very
identities of life writing and fiction are compromised. Because the genres could blend with each
other, it becomes difficult to confidently determine whether a literary work is based on the real or
created from the mind. So long as the focus of the story is on a person in a realistic setting, the
categorization of it is left to

Football Hooligans
Football hooligans.
Football has been an attractive sport around the world. Through this sport, many inhabitants have
denominated themselves as fans of a particular football team. These people support the players in
each match they have. Every football team has a group of fans that go to the stadium to encourage
them in the game, but also they attend there to enjoy the show. Nevertheless, not all the fans go to
see the matches since there are some people who belong to groups called hooligans. Those groups
are highly violent, and they do not mind killing other people to defend their team. Consequently,
citizens who belong to these violent groups should not be able to come back to the stadiums
because hooligans do not benefit the image of football, do not understand the meaning of football,
and do not respect the diversity of preferences. Violent hooligans have been damaging the image of
the football day to day. First of all, the hooligans affect the perception of football because most
members of violent hooligans are adolescents, and it makes people think that football promotes the
violence. According to a study performed by a web page called Monographs said that of every one
hundred members of hooligans, at least ninety are teenagers who are growing up with the belief
that whether they have to kill someone to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those groups damage the good image of football and make it seem as a violent sport, which is in
danger of losing popularity. They see this sport as a moment to fight and private other people to

team. If it is not as they want, people cannot use things that represent the like for a specific team, or
not only their belongings would be in danger, but also they could be causing their own death. Now,
do you still think that hooligans are just supporting their

Mobs In A Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Cities truly was ...the best of times, and ...the worst of times,... (Dickens 7). The
worst of times was especially portrayed through the mobs in France. In A Tale of Two Cities,
Dickens writes about mobs and how the peasants and even the aristocrats act while in a mob.
The motif of mobs reveals the theme of how easily people are influenced by others around them
such as Roger Cly s funeral , the storming of the Bastille, and when the peasants were trying to
find Old Foulon. Mobs are seen throughout the book, but a huge mob occurred during Roger Cly s
faked funeral. Roger Cly was a spy, and during the French Revolutionthe peasants strongly disliked
spies because they could not be trusted. The people of St. Antoine did not know that Cly s funeral
was being faked. They all gathered in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

eagerness, and loudly repeating the suggestion...[the people] mobbed the two vehicles so
closely that they came to a stop. (Dickens 162). The crowd was so aroused by Roger Cly s death
that they filled the streets chanting that they wanted to kill the rest of the spies. There were so
many people on the street that even the horse drawn carriages could not move and had to stop.
Even if the people did not know who Cly was, they wanted him and the other spies dead. Not
only were the people stopping the carriages and horses from moving, but they were acting as
though they were beasts or wild animals. The crowd was so happy that Roger Cly had died that
they did anything their heart desired. The people in the crowd ...tore to pieces and scattered far and

Marketing Strategy Of T Mobile
ORGANIZATION Since Q1 of 2013, T Mobile has set the telecommunications industry on fire by
trailblazing with the the UN Carrier strategy. The UN Carrier strategy is essentially a set of
changes to business approaches that have branded T Mobile as the antithesis of the traditional cell
phone carrier, such as Verizon, AT T, and Sprint. Such changes to business
practices include, no
service contracts, upgrades whenever you want, and de subsidizing phones from plans. The
strategy has proven to be successful. In Q4 of 2014, T Mobile took on 2.1 million new customers,
overtaking AT T which sat at 1.9 million new customers. Also, T Mobile is officially the third
largest carrier, overtaking Sprint for the title, with 56 million in total... Show more content on

The employees have contributed to generating 29.6 billion in revenues in 2014. All the hard work
of the employees and the successes they achieved have not come without a price, unfortunately.
KEY ISSUE The telecommunications industry provides a very competitive landscape. Change
within the industry is as reliable as the sunrise. And as a catalyst of change within the landscape,
T Mobile usually drives that change. T Mobile was the first to offer no service contracts, the first
to offer unsubsidized phone plans, etc. As a byproduct of this, much is expected of the frontline
employees. Frontline retail employees are measured by countless metrics. As most employees will
attest, the key issue within T Mobile is the problems that arise when the focus of the business shifts
too quickly. Granted, in a competitive landscape, those within the landscape have to adapt quickly.
However, T Mobile doesn t necessarily put its frontline employees in the best position in order to
succeed. While this will be discussed further in the next section, there is nothing more discouraging
as a sales rep than to be given a goal to achieve, given little to no grace period for learning and
practicing correct behaviors, and have the focus of the business shift just when reps were beginning
to reinforce those behaviors. In turn, this would cause reps not to hit key performance indicators
(KPIs).

since grown with the signing of the customs union agreement with the EU. With 29.5% of the
labor force still in agriculture per a 2010 estimate, the industrial and manufacturing sectors have
grown to 25% accounting for 27% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) bringing in more the $30

Stylistics In Textual Analysis
1. Introduction and Theoretical framework 1.1 stylistics Stylistics is the linguistic study of style
in language. There has been a long debate among scholars about the role and definition of
stylistics .Many scholars have tried to give their insights about the role of stylistics to the field of
textual analysis. Coyle ( 1993) states that the purpose of stylistics is to uncover the literary
language used by the author to formulate his message. stylistics then is concerned with revealing
the aesthetic and artistic aspects of a text. Simpson ( 2004) provides a similar understanding of
stylistics. He asserts that the role of the discipline is to explore the creativity in language usage .

Archetypes In Ancient Greek Culture
The connections between humans and culture over time are in ancient literature. The connections
,archetypes, can be found in the adventurous book The Odyssey. Ancient Greek culture is brought
up by Homer through archetypes. These archetypes help connect one another over time. In the
Odyssey, topics such as terrifying monsters , love tests, and an unstoppable hero are all related to
ancient Greek culture. The Odysseyshows archetypes that also reveal this culture. Three archetypes
found are monsters, loyalty, and a hero, which shows the ancient Greek culture for modern readers.

This description of him shows a common archetype and viewing of heroes in ancient Greek
times. Heroes are only mortals, ones that try their best to accomplish feats while fighting against
internal and external forces, found in the The Hero s Journey, is another quote for a hero s
archetype. (Harris,3) Odysseus is only a mortal given a task to accomplish while fighting monsters
and facing great dangers. The title hero varies between different cultures, but all have a similarity.
Ancient Greeks viewed heroes as immortal, massive, god like, and known for killing using
trickery, while modern times view heroes as muscular, immortal, saving people, and wearing capes
when doing it. Lastly, a quote in the same article states A hero could not be heroic without
something or one to overcome. (Harris,15) A hero needs an obstacle in order to be an interesting
hero. Odysseus must overcome all dangers throughout his journey home.

Understanding Elements Of Design Report By Monica Prakash...
Demonstrating understanding elements of design report by Monica Prakash91053 My previous
experience I have been investigating print media selections when advertising tourist attractions in
the city of Auckland. I have created a design of a double sided, bi fold, 3 panel brochure. I have
learnt the elements and principles of design that are vital to this type of outcome. I have also learnt
how to apply the elements of design which can be applied to any digital outcome. Important
Elements/Principles of Design There are a variety of elements to be considered while developing a
print media outcome. Colour is an important design element when used in print media because it
creates visual interest towards the viewer. It determines whether the brochure is noticeable enough.
This comes into consideration which is used to determine the quality of a design within print
media. Colour can generate emotions as well as depict feeling. Alignment is also an important
design element formerly used in print media because it creates a distinct, more orderly design.
When aligning elements this allows them to create a visual connection with either font text,
images, or shapes. It tightens up the design and eradicates the haphazard. This element prevents
items of being randomly placed in a design. Alignment is one of the most basic and important
principles of design. It acknowledges us to create order and organisation in a design. Proximity is
another important design

Australia Does Not Have Its Own Culture Essay examples
Australian culture has vanished and turned into multiculturalism. There is no longer a typical
Australian culture, but it has been replaced by a melting pot of diversity. There is no longer a
typical Australian food, instead it has imported and embraced cuisines from around the world.
There is no longer a typical Australian life instead each immigrant can have their own culture in
Australia. There are few national holidays and festivals that are unique to Australia, but rather have
come from other cultures. To get a better understanding of this, culture is defined by the Oxford
Dictionary as:

appreciation and understanding of literature, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So what s so unique about that? Therefore, there is no longer a typical Australian food as the foods
have come from many various cultures.
Secondly, Australia consists of many cultures where each cultural group is allowed to have their
own unique culture without integrating with Australian people. One could come from China and
not even have to speak English because there are so many Chinese people in Australia over
1,950,000 Chinese live in Australia. Since Australia has many mixed cultures one could have their
own culture in Australia. So many immigrants have come in a short space of time from over 226
different cultures thus diluting Australia s original culture. Migrants have enriched almost every
aspect of Australian life, from business to the arts, from cooking to comedy and from science to
sport. Australia s laws allow immigrants to express their own culture here. This all the more
showing that Australia consists of many diverse cultures and that immigrants have changed the
lifestyle in Australia.
Lastly, most, if not all of Australia s national holidays and festivals, have come from diverse
cultures. Six of the main festivals celebrated in Australia are Chinese New Year, Oz Asia festivals,
Christmas pageant, Brisbane s French Experience, St Patrick s Day, and Australia Day. Quite
frankly not one of those festivals can teach someone a single thing about Australian culture but
rather other cultures. Out of those six

Volcanic and Seismic Events Are Major Pieces of Evidence...
Volcanic and Seismic events are major pieces of evidence towards proving that plate tectonics
theory is valid (40 marks) The theory of plate tectonics states that the Earth s lithosphere (top layer
of the Earth s crust) is split up into rigid sections called plates that are moving relative to one
another as they move on top of the underlying semi molten mantle. These plates are either
continental, The North American Plate, or oceanic, The Nazca Plate. Tectonic plates are powered
by convection currents, which is the circular movement of magma within the mantle. These
currents are powered by the core, which heats the magma, causing it to rise, cool and fall back
down. This circular motion causes the plates, which float on the mantle, to... Show more content on

Earthquakes can be created on any of the plate boundaries. Earthquakes occur when tension is
released from inside the crust. Plates do not always move smoothly alongside each other and
sometimes get stuck. When this happens pressure builds up. When this pressure is eventually
released, an earthquake tends to occur. The point inside the crust where the pressure is released
is called the focus. The point on the Earth s surface above the focus is called the epicentre.
Earthquake energy is released in seismic waves. These waves spread out from the focus. The
waves are felt most strongly at the epicentre, becoming less strong as they travel further away.
The most severe damage caused by an earthquake will happen close to the epicentre. But there
are some anomalies as there are earthquakes which don t take place on a plate boundary and it s
the same with volcanoes. An example of this is Hawaii. Hawaii is a volcanic island which is found
in the middle of a tectonic plate. Hawaii is an example of a hotspot. The places known as hotspots
are volcanic regions thought to be fed by underlying mantle that is anomalously hot compared with
the mantle elsewhere. They may be on, near to, or far from tectonic plate boundaries. There are two
hypotheses to explain them. One suggests that they are due to hot mantle plumes that rise from the
core mantle boundary. The other hypothesis postulates that it is not high

How Is Entertainment Ruining Society
Mr. Gabler s assertion that entertainment would eventually ruin society, although not entirely
invalid, is not correct. Entertainment has been a near essential part of culture since culture has been
around. While entertainment has been a part of society for an indefinite time in recent years it has
become increasingly integrated into the everyday lives of people. In the 18th century a popular
example of entertainmentwould be the theatre. This was the era of great poets and writers like

entities like reality TV has completely negated any sense of fictional entertainment. This has had
conflicting effects. Smoking, for example, is commonly considered to be highly detrimental to

same methods of defaming it that it became a widespread issue originally. In the mid 20th century
smoking became wildly popular due to famous movie stars being portrayed as smoking. People

Willy and Amanda create an environment of deceit, abandonment, and lack of freedom proving that
they are poor leaders, burdening those around them and thus never truly achieving fulfillment.

In Death of a Salesman , Willy s lack of freedom is directly linked to his economic security and
his unachievable American Dream. Linda and Willy are confined by their own small apartment,
socio economic status, and the need for basic necessities with no way out. Willy had the
freedom to make choices, to learn from those around him and to take a chance once or twice;
however, he chose to keep making mistakes until he was so far in debt that he had no freedom to
make choices. Ultimately this play analyzes the American Dream itself and questions the
validity of such an option for everyone in the system and whether they can achieve fulfillment.
Perhaps its luck, intelligence, or timing, but one thing is for sure, Willy never had it. As for
Amanda, Tom, and Laura in the Glass Menagerie , the confinement of their small apartment, bad
job, and the inability to break free leaves them lacking fulfillment. Amanda s freedom dissolved
years ago when her husband left and confined her to thoughts of the past. Amanda s goal is to
give Laura the freedom she so very much desires; however, Laura ends up losing all freedom and
confines herself in a world of glass animals. Freedom to the main characters can come from two
realizations: escape from reality, or escape from family. Either way, there s no way for them to
achieve fulfillment. Therefore, both Death of a Salesman and

An oligopoly is a form of economy. Using the four firm concentration ration, an oligopoly is
defined as a market in which the four firm concentration ratio is above 40% according to Wikipedia.
In more general terms, a way of measuring market share is to look at the concentration ratio
(CRN): The N firm concentration ratio is the percentage of market output generated by the N
largest firms in the industry. We already covered the most used CR4 percentage of sales of the 4
top firms in the industry.
One measure of this ratio is the 5 firms concentration ratio which shows the market share of the 5
largest companies.
Normally an oligopoly exists when the top five firms in the market account for more than 60% of
total market demand/sales. Relating to the index featured above, the market share for standard and
emissionsВґ test remained approximately at over
98,76 % for the 5 top market players ( Dekra, TГњV, GTГњ, KГњS, FSP), so the company in

For understanding the function of oligopoly games, we need to define the game of prisonersВґ

Masculinity In Sports Media
Introduction Gender classification is a predominant topic within today s sports and is most broadly
understood through the portrayals of sports media. Through overt and covert ways, sports media
has continued to promote a masculine representation of sports (Millington Wilson, 2010; Messener,
Duncan, Jensen, 1993). By understanding the way in which sports media portrays sports, one can
recognize how masculinityhas dominated the world of sports. With the aid of two unique studies of
sports media, this paper will critique the way in which media has effected the gendered depiction of
sports.
Study Summary In order to thoroughly understand sports media, it is critical to understand the
way in which sports media impacts its consumers. Millington and Wilson (2010) explores the
impact of sports media by focusing on its impact on a group of boys in a Vancouver High School.
Millington and Wilson (2010) analyze the way in which sports media impacts ones activity in
physical education and the way in which one interprets sports media. Through their research,
Millington and Wilson (2010) found that young boys are equally susceptible to the impacts of
both physical education and sports media. While the impacts may vary, both sports media and
physical education promotes the importance of masculinity in sports and general society
(Millington Wilson, 2010). While Millington and Wilson focus on a specific demographic,
Messener et al. (1993) focus and compare the effects of sports

Leadership And Hofstede s Six Dimensions
Leadership and Hofstede s Six Dimensions
Maneuvering through the sea of cultural differences in the workplace in today s business can be
tricky. As companies become more global, and employ people from different cultures, leaders must
learn to adapt to differences among these cultures if they wish to succeed. Leading the same across
cultures may not have positive outcomes. In this writing, I will discuss Hofstede s six cultural
dimensions and how they relate to leadership. I will then explain what combinations of these
dimensions, I feel, make the most effective leader. First, let s discuss the six dimensions of
leadership.
Six Dimensions and Leadership
Between 1967 and 1973, IBM collected data of employee value scores. (Hofstede, ... Show more

Participative leadership style would be used in this case, giving followers the ability to be a part of
decision making.
Individualism Versus Collectivism (IDV)
This dimension measures how tight or loose knit the social framework is among people.
(Hofstede, 2001, para. 5). Countries that measure on the higher side of this scale have more
individualism, meaning they look out for themselves and their immediate families. On the opposite
end of this scale, collectivism; people look at the better good of the group keeping all interests in
mind. The leadership for individualism is based more on one on one types of interactions, focusing
on strengths of the individual. (Ori, n.d.). In a collectivism environment, the leader will focus on
the betterment of the group, possibly utilizing a laissez faire style of leadership.
Masculinity Versus Femininity (MAS)
In the MAS dimension, societies that are high in masculinity focus more on achievements and
are more competitive. On opposite end of this dimension, society is focused more on caring for
each other, worried more about the quality of life. The leadership style for a high masculinity
dimension would be procedural, being more task orientated vs relationship based. ( Sides of
Leadership, 2005). The style for a low masculinity or feminine side would be more of a democratic,
or even transformational,

Dinner Research Paper
I always think dinner is good, however having dinner with three people who I would like to talk
to, that dinner would be the greatest. Three people I would invite to dinner are Fred Weasley,
Hermoine Granger, and Johnny Depp. These people are some of my greatest idols. This dinner
would be a dream come true, even though I would loveto invite so many more people. Furthermore,
there are so many reasons I would invite these three people.
First of all, Fred Weasley is the 4th youngest child in the Weasley familyin the book/movie series
Harry Potter. He has a twin brother George, (SPOILER ALERT) and he does not survive the
Battle of Hogwarts. I would invite Fred because he is my favorite Weasley, and he is a jokester,
which would make my dinner fun. He is an idol to me because he died laughing and he always
saw the bright side of things. Also, Fred Weasley is not a bad looking man, we would talk about
his life and pranks to pull, plus so many other things. I would love to meet Fred Weasley because
he is a great (fictional) character.

The Creation of the Romanticized Nuclear Family
One of the most romanticized family institutions in North American is the nuclear family.
Although the nuclear family was created to appear as the traditional and normative ideal, it has
never been the reality for all families (Kimmel Holler, 2011, 154). The nuclear family was created
after the end of the Second World War when women were taken out of the workforce and placed
back into their homes. Men and women embraced this nostalgia, marrying and having children
early, and divorcing little. The 1950s familymodel they created was almost immediately enshrined
as the most natural and healthiest form possible (Kimmel Holler, 2011, 185). In Kimmel and
Holler (2011), they define the nuclear family of the 1950s as a lifelong sexually exclusive,
heterosexual monogamous marriage, based on affection and companionship, in which there is a
sharp division of labour with the female as full time housewife and the male as primary provider
and ultimate authority (Kimmel Holler, 2011, 141). It is the family structure where women stay
at home, do household chores and child care, while men work and be the sole breadwinner for
the family. In North America, the traditional family was characterized by: high rates of marriage
(and young age at marriage), high fertility, and low and stable rates of divorce was the product of
a convergence of an unusual series of historical, demographic and economic circumstances unlikely
to return again , in the words of two leading family

Carnival s conservative stance toward IT was also thought to have paid dividends due to the low
success rate of many companies who tried the CRM approach.
2. Should CCL develop a CRM strategy? Why, and for what purpose?
Yes, because they want to know their customers better by analyzing data with the purpose of

Reflective Essay On My Strength
When a knight is visualized, the first attribute that comes to mind is the shining armor. It s strong,
flashy, and apparent when seen, much like most of anyone s strengths. What isn t apparent, is the
scars received over the years from weapons used against them that have penetrated their strong
armor and slashed through their weak flesh. When training to become betterone must identify their
strengths, their armor, and most importantly their weaknesses. Only through a conscious effort will
one turn weaknesses into strengths. My initiative, ability to adapt to patient needs, and
communication with both staff and patients, have become my strengths over these past three
weeks. On the other hand, my ability to submit clinical paperwork to instructors, long exam times
and marker placement has been identified as my short comings.
To begin with, throughout the entirety of my life, my greatest strength has been my initiative. It is
hard for me to wait around or be told to do something. I have always been more of the tell me what
I need to accomplish and the next time we see each other it should already be done type of

Unit 3 Notebook Essay
The First World War fought from 1914 to 1918 was one of the largest and most brutal catastrophes
fought in the 20th century. With nearly the entire European continent fighting a barbaric and
everlasting war, the U.S. had eventually to get involved in order to reinitiate stability to Europe.
Ultimately, the U.S. taking involvement in World War Ihad a profound political, economic, and
social impact on the country. It increased government powers and solidified the nation s leadership
role in foreign politics. The U.S. emerged as the world s greatest industrial power with increasing
financial opportunities for minorities. At the same time anti immigrant and anti communist
sentiments arose among many American citizens. And finally the war contributed to the massive
migration of African Americans from the Southern to Northern states looking for employment and
freedom and, first time allowed women to participate in jobs that were traditionally reserved for
men.
Initially, U.S. politicians and citizens had differing opinions of whether or not they should take
action in the war. Although many in society and congress disapproved war, Wilson eventually
managed to get the approval and set forth the first drafting law, the Selective Service Act. Indeed,
there were still many anti war protests reoccurring and therefore, the government set up the nation s

have played football since I was 5 years old, and I am also a frequent gym user. I enjoy watching
most sports but mainly football and boxing. I currently work at the Marriott Hotel running my
own swimming lesson business, and also work as a personal trainer. I completed a level 3 Sport
and Exercise Science diploma 4 years ago and now I feel it is time to develop my skills and
knowledge to progress further in the Sport and Fitness industry.

My motivation for opting to study E112, is to further develop my skills and knowledge in sport
and fitness. I also aim to progress into becoming a physical education teacher. Throughout this
module I would like to be re introduced into education in sport and fitness as it has been four
years since I studied a level 3 sport science course, and I would like this module to help me
prepare and study effectively. As stated above, my ambition is to become a physical education
teacher in a high school, therefore I would like to peruse this degree, and then progress onto a post
graduate degree to become a teacher. E112 links in with both my work in the fitness industry and
my interests as it shows how sport and fitness organisations operate, whilst also showing the
changes in sport over the years whilst giving different perspectives which is very interesting.

Literary Distinctions through Ineradicable Scars His racial status, his poverty, the disruption of his
family, and his faulty education allowed Richard Wright to grow into a novelist astonishingly
different than other major American writers. Richard Wright was born on a Rucker plantation in
Adams County, Mississippi. He was born on September 4, 1908 to Ella Wilson, a schoolteacher
and Nathaniel Wright, a sharecropper. When Wright was about six years old, his father abandoned
Ella and his two sons in a penniless condition to run off with another woman. This left Wright s

explains how he grew up surrounded by different types of Biggers, and that social reality
determined his literary personality. (Applebee) Indeed, he was at different times in his youth an
unstable child, but ultimately he became Richard Wright, and not Bigger Thomas. Fear
oppression and blindness Book One (Fear) of Native Son begins with an alarm clock ringing.
We see Bigger, Vera, Buddy, and Mrs. Thomas in a small apartment in Chicago. Since the
apartment only has one room, Bigger and Buddy are forced to turn around to avoid seeing his
little sister and his mother getting dressed. Perhaps, the ringing alarm signifies a wakeup call,
not only for Bigger, but for the readers and America as a whole about race relations in this era.
Immediately, we are exposed to the unfortunate circumstances Bigger s family live in when a
huge rat runs across the floor, and Bigger is destined to wrestle the rat. During his struggle with
the rat, Bigger smashes the rat s head with a skillet, and then smashes his face with a shoe. The rat
portrays fear book one is speaking about. The rat and Bigger immediately attack each other, hinting
that they resemble each other and they fear themselves. In Fear, we also meet Gus, Jack, and G.H.

Agatha Christie Dysgraphia
Agatha Christie Dysgraphia It was quite true and I knew and accepted it. It did not worry or
distress me. I was always resigned to being the slow one (ResearchGate). This is what Agatha
Christie said one day when she realized she had a very serious disease, now known as dysgraphia.
Christie s dysgraphiacaused her many challenges in her lifetime, but it never stopped her from
being an amazing, bestselling novelist. In the United States, anywhere from five to thirty three
percent of elementary children deal with some level of dysgraphia (Adam), a writingdisability.
Other names for dysgraphia include backwards writing, developmental output failure, and math
disability (Siegel). When a child has dysgraphia, there is a problem with the writing process;
therefore, the children have trouble writing (Richards 63). Some of the victims of dysgraphia
have trouble forming letters, while others can form letters but not very quickly (Paquette 88). It
was once said, As students struggle with the process, they become preoccupied and can t let
their ideas flow onto the page (89). Although there are many devices to help with the disease,
there are very few ways to overcome dysgraphia. One of the tools one can use to help a child
with dysgraphia is graphic organizers. Another tool someone can use is special education
services in the school. Most schools offer very good special education services which can help
children with many challenges, including dysgraphia (91). Other tools commonly used may
include a spell checker (93), word prediction software, and text to speech tools (259). Many
teachers also suggest keeping a list of commonly misspelled words and having a note taker.
Teachers may also use oral tests instead of written tests to eliminate stress (93). One can also use
the checkbook programs companies provide (259).
Dysgraphia is caused by an issue between two main brain systems (Paquette 89). Some of the
symptoms of dysgraphia may include cramped fingers, inconsistent formations and slants to letters,
unfinished cursive writing, decreased speed of writing, and poor organization on the page
(Richards 63). There are five different kinds of dysgraphia. The first is known as motor dysgraphia,
and symptoms may

Essay on The Scientific Revolution
The Scientific Revolution
A paradigm is one s world view in which one understands his place in it. Copernicus, Galileo,
Vesalius, Linnaeus, Leuwenhoek, and Newton were all medieval scientists, whose work changed
people s lives and the world. The way man viewed the universe in which he lived, the world of
nature that surrounded him and even his own physical anatomy changed right before him.
Scientists, like Galileo, disproved the heliocentric model as new instruments like the telescope were
invented. The way in which man saw his own physical anatomy changed when Andreas Vesalius
completed detailed studies of the human body. Due to these new, groundbreaking studies man
began to view himself as insignificant and as a machine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Catholic Church believed that Galileo was mocking the Church approved ideas of Ptolemy
and their geocentric model. The Catholic Church sentenced Galileo to house arrest for the
remainder of his life, but his ideas of a heliocentric universe remained strong. This idea changed
man s whole view of his significance and place in the universe. Now, man was no longer the center
of everything. Man was not as important as he originally thought. This also meant that the Church
was not preaching the truth, and that the Bible and Aristotle were wrong. This raised questions
about the validity of the rest of the Bible and Aristotle s teachings.
During the Scientific Revolution, scientists developed ways to make more precise and more
reliable observations. The new scientists challenged the assumptions of past scientists. Zacharias
Janssen invented the first microscope. Anton van Leuwenhoek used a microscope to observe
bacterium and red blood cells. Galileo made the first thermometer using alcohol for measuring
temperatures. Later, a German physicist named Gabriel Fahrenheit developed the first thermometer
using mercury. In 1655, Evangelista Torricelli developed the barometer. The barometer measured
atmospheric pressure. The barometer proved that the weather could be predicted, and therefore God
did not control the weather. This new information disturbed the Catholic Church. Again, they were
caught preaching the wrong information(TWW ).Galileo proved Aristotle

At the first glance, Victor Frankenstein and his Creature appear as complete opposites with little to
nothing in common. Victor seems intelligent and humane while the Creature s actions insinuate
that he possesses uneducated and monstrous qualities. After becoming more familiar with the
characters and their actions, the pair still seem to have a few differences; however, they share some
key characteristics. Finally, after analyzing Frankensteinand the Creature s personalities and habits,
it becomes obvious that the two experience a shocking amount of affinities towards one another.
These similarities include loneliness and persistence. Other more specific examples involve their
inclination towards playing God and their hunger for knowledge. Demonstrated by the many

Officer Smith s Dilemma
Unhappy employees can be toxic to any organization. The lack of interest, blatant disregard for
company policies and procedures, tardiness and a host of other negative behavior can quickly

Upon reviewing Officer Smith s lower than average field statistics, I decided to reach out to her

Health Disparities and Communication Disorders
Courtney Barringtine
Howard University
Abstract Currently in the Unites States, Americans are struggling to maintain quality health without
proper healthcare. As a result, health disparities have become a widespread epidemic plaguing
minorities. Many of the various health disproportions stem from the government s inequality and
racism. In other cases, genetics and socioeconomic status may cause health disparities. Overall,
these disparities may be avoidable or unavoidable depending on the individual. Recently, health
disparities have begun to implicate the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Speech

An article in Psychology Today explains that currently minorities become ill at younger ages, suffer
from more severe illnesses and die earlier than Whites (Lyubansky, 2013). Currently, minorities of
low socioeconomic status (SES) suffer from more health discrepancies than any other race in the
United States. Research has shown that these health disparities against all minorities have begun to
implicate all medical professionals including speech pathologists. Among minorities such as Asians,
Hispanics, Indians, Native Americans, and Middle Easterners, the African American race has been
affected tremendously by the health disparities in the United States. Currently, African Americans
have significantly higher mortality rates from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, cancer,
diabetes, HIV, unintentional injuries, pregnancy, sudden infant death syndrome, and homicide than
do whites Americans (Fiscella Williams, 2004). While African Americans may lead in these
categories, other minorities are not far behind in experiencing health disparities.
Causes
Biochemical theories have said to be a leading cause of health disparities in minorities. Various
research sources confirm that genetics plays a role in the prevalence of disparities among
minorities. Family traits such as metabolism, passed down illnesses, and life expectancy may cause
an individual to acquire poor health

Hyperglycemia Research Paper
Hyperglycemia
Hyperglycemia literally means excessive glucose in the blood. It is a disease that is classified as
autoimmune because it is a result of the body attacking its own pancreatic cells which inhibits the
pancreas from producing the proper amount of insulin that the body requires. There are two
different classifications, Type I and Type II. They are diagnosed with these categories depending on
whether the body does not have enough insulin or rejects the insulin produced by the pancreas. Age
does not seem to have a direct correlation with this disease. Patients can be diagnosed as a child or
late adulthood, as it effects all age groups. There are many different signs and symptoms,
diagnosing tools, and treatment options for this condition. There are numerous signs and symptoms
that accompany this disease, although many symptoms do not show until glucose levels are

Gestational diabetes only occurs in pregnant woman and it usually dissolves itself after birth.
Although, women that develop gestational hyperglycemia are more likely to develop diabetes
later in life. Type I is caused by an insulin deficiency. It accounts for less than 10% of all diabetic
patients. The term type I diabetes includes insulin dependent diabetes and juvenile onset diabetes.
Type II diabetes is caused by a defect in the secretion of insulin and resistance to insulin and can
account for up to 95% of all diabetic patients. The term type II diabetes refers to non insulin

African, Medieval Kingdom Of Mali, Questions And Answers
1. Were you surprised by anything you read in the sources on the African, medieval kingdom of
Mali? I was surprised by how big the Mali Empire was, and how many people lived in the land
(roughly size of western Europe, 50 million people). I was also surprised by how rich Mansa Musa
was so rich that 500 slaves could go before him caring golden staffs that were four pounds!
2. As the people of medical West Africadid not generally record information through their own
written language, how do you think historians know so much about Mali? A lot of the information
known about the Mali Empire probably came from foreigners that visited a few of over 400 cities
in the Mali Empire. Since Mansa Musa built large scale projects, like palaces in Timbuktu and
Gao, architectural scholars and enthusiasts most likely visited them, and left detailed records.
Simerly, Musa also promoted education, as he built a university. Because of this, foreigners would
have come to the Mali Empire to study. During their stay, the students would also have written
about the empire. Finally, traders would have also have helped historians learn about the Mali
Empire. By recording what items were traded, and how much of each item was traded, historians
would know about the wealth of Mali. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the sources you have read thus far, what role does trade appear to play in cultural and
economic progress in the civilizations you encountered in these readings and perhaps in those you
studied in the 8th grade? In most cases, trade provides wealth to the region, which in turn stabilizes
and fortifies it. With the security the region has, the people start to flourish, and arts, learning and
technology grow. For example, when trade started to flourish in Europe, towns were established,
new farming techniques were discovered and people could start to specialize in jobs other than
farming. Also Venice, Marco Polo s hometown, was established, and also flourished, because of

The Intoucables Thesis
The Intoucables is a French comedy movie filmed by Г‰ric Toledano and Olivier Nakache in
2011. The plot of this film is based on a true story in between a wealthy disabled old man,
Philippe Pozzo di Borgo, and his caretaker Abdel Sellou (In the film, Abdel s character is named
as Driss). The story of Philippe and Driss is inspiring. As a student who is learning to be a
qualified volunteer, I think there are several things that we can learn from the experience of these
two men. Thus, in this paper, I am going to explore what abilities should a good volunteer have,
referring to the process of Driss taking care of Philippe. In my opinion, I feel that Driss is an
extraordinary caregiver since he usually uses unconventional methods to look after... Show more

In fact, it cannot be said that Philippe is tolerating Driss, since they associate with each other
very friendly. The reason behind their excellent relationship is Driss always showing the most
sincere side of himself to Philippe. He takes care of all the ways Philippe needed and participate
in every moment of his life after he is hired. Philippe once stated the intention of employing
Driss in a conversation with his friend Antoine. Antoine originally suggests Philippe to fire
Driss because he went to jail for robbery before. Even though Philippe notices Driss s criminal
record, he does not follow his friend s wish. He clarified that the largest difference between Driss
and his former caregivers is, he will not show any mercy to him regardless of his infirmity. For
example, when someone phones Philippe, Driss will not pass him the phone as he sometimes
forgets his illness. In addition, Driss will play tricks on Philippe (placing a hot water bottle on
his legs) in order to test whether he does not have any sense. Just like what I mentioned in the
above paragraph, ordinary people probably consider Driss s behaviors are insane, but I guess
most of them just neglect the real needs and the genuine feeling of Philippe. Moreover, I insist this
is the reason why the movie is named as The Intouchables , as no one has ever touched

How Effective Were the Guerrilla Tactics of the Viet Cong
How effective were the guerrilla tactics of the Viet Cong History
Plan * What tactics the Viet Cong used against US/ARVN troops. * How the Viet Cong dealt with
the decisions made by the US troops. * How guerrilla tactics were better than those used by the US
troops. * How the environment in Vietnam suited the Viet Congand how it was a disadvantage for
the US troops. * How the surroundings in Vietnam were an advantage to the Viet Cong.
The Viet Cong had many tactics which they used against the US and ARVN troops in the Vietnam
War, however these tactics were not those that you would expect to be used in a war.
The Viet Cong were a Guerrilla army, meaning that the people fighting for them are not proper
soldiers. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Viet Cong also thought of backup tactics. These included secure sanctuaries for times when the
war might go badly. These were very effective as when the US troops outnumbered the Viet Cong
they could retreat to a hiding spot to then launch an ambush. (http://www.pbs.org/battlefieldvietnam
/guerrilla/index.html)
Also the Viet Cong were made up of people from all around South Vietnam. This made it easier for
the Viet Cong to gain trust from people as many of the South Vietnamese people knew at least one
person fighting for the Viet Cong. (Edexcel GCSE, History Controlled Assessment, CA5 Vietnam
1960 75). They were also nice to the South Vietnamese people unlike the US troops. With this
advantage the Viet Cong used the South Vietnamese people as intelligence spies, to gather
information about the enemy US troops without them suspecting a thing. This worked well for the
Viet Cong as the US troops wouldn t be able to recognise any Vietnamese people who were working
for the Viet Cong, which meant that the Viet Cong could keep on finding out crucial information
about the enemy without needing to capture any opposition fighters.
In conclusion, I believe that the guerrilla tactics of the Viet Cong were much superior to those of
the US troops as they were more adapted to the Vietnamese environment whereas the US tactics
could not be put fully into action, and the fact that the Viet Cong knew their environment more
compared to the US was a dominant

The Importance Of Kneeling
The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word, kneeling as, The action of kneel v.; a falling
down, or remaining, on the knees in worship, submission, etc.; in quot. 1631, advancing on the
knees; formerly often with pl., a genuflexion. This definition shows kneeling in a very respectful
and submissive manner. Kneeling, throughout centuries, has been used in many different
churches, in beautiful ceremonies, and even when one is going to propose. Kneeling is a
symbol of great honor and high respect for the one that you may be kneeling for. In the Catholic
church, during prayer and during worship, everyone kneels on the kneeling bar provided, and
bows their heads, as a sign of respect and animosity for their God. While being knighted, the
knights kneel down in front of the king or queen in respect for their lineage and in respect for
their position or possible friendship. While proposing to the one someone is in love with, it is
customary to kneel on one knee and ask the question, this is seen a sign of submission and it is
also seen as a loving gesture. Oddly enough, ever since Colin Kaepernick, who played for the San
Francisco 49ers, took a knee during the National Anthem, to spread awareness of the Black Lives
Matter movement, kneeling has all of a sudden started to become seen as uncivil, hateful, and plain
rude. Throughout history, kneeling has been seen as a sign of respect, but lately in the media it has
been viewed as an act of disrespect. The president of the

The Mathematics Involved in Deciphering A Crime Scene
Introduction
Though one may assume that the logistics involved with deducing the events that occurred at a
crime scene merely involve the reasonable deduction skills of an individual, in reality adequate
results can only be achieved through the use of certain mathematical methods. For this particular
investigation, the examples deal with a homicide case where it is known that there was only one
shooter and one victim. In order to analyze blood patterns and determine a time of death, the
Pythagorean Theorem and Newton s Law of Cooling must be utilized. This exploration is important
to my future as an attorney with a focus on homicide cases. It will be important to discover the
uncertainties associated with each of these methods, as they appear quite simple to begin with.
Proving the Pythagorean Theorem
In an effort to fully understand the Pythagorean Theorem, I must first examine a method used to
derive the formula. Whilst I examined several different methods, I was confused as to how a
person could think of such strategies. This method was first derived by Bhaskara. I used this proof,
because it best connects with the crime scene situation at hand. The use of multiple triangles and
squares mimic the makeup of a room.
Bhaskara s Proof: I decided to manipulate Bhaskara s method and make it more understandable for
my usage.
My interpretation

Critically Appraise A Popular Leadership Theory
Leadership is a concept that is constantly discussed yet there is seldom agreement about what it
is. Even though most agree leadership is crucial to success of any people, project or venture.
People define leadership differently and often times misconstrue leadership with management.
Leadership provides the vision and focuses on the people while management focuses on objectives
and tasks. It is however valid that a budding leader may sometimes need to act as both a leader an
as a manager whenever necessary.
Over the years, in an attempt to define leadership and reach a consensus on what it is, various
leadership theories have ensued. Some leadership theories include; great man, transactional,
situational, style, trait, skill, contingency, transformational, ... Show more content on

If the competent and qualified physician is leader of a public health or healthcare institution
and he is deemed a great leader based on his charisma and ambition, when there is a challenge
such as an outbreak and he is able to proffer solution. He will be respected and trusted more.
However, a demerit to this approach is that it is too simplistic and may prevent contribution from
other qualified members of the system. Hence serving to demotivate them at their work because
they may feel irrelevant. Also, the problem of succession quickly comes to mind, so in the event
of loss or absence of the great leader , there will be a problem with replacing him and the
institution may suffer. This leads to another demerit of the theory. Based on the fact that a leader
had to be born that way, there is no way to teach leadership to another person or improve one s
own level of leadership. More recent theories and occurrence has invalidated this claim.
Much of the great man theory praises characteristics that are majorly associated with natural male
characteristics and used male examples in its explanation. In orders words, women cannot be
leaders. But this has been negated, as there were females who successfully led men to wars in
history. An example is Ashanti (a woman) who led her people to a successful war). In recent years,
we now have

  • 2. Implementation Of Section 135 Of Companies Act Essay Implementation of Section 135 of Companies Act, 2013: Corporate Social Responsibility Abstract In recent past, the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility has gained much attention. The CSR and citizenship which aims at invoking the corporate conscience whereby the companies incur short term cost but these short term cost do not provide immediate financial benefit, instead these costs promote positive social environmental change. The Companies Act of 2013 which replaced the 60 years old Act of 1956 gave a provision with the concept of mandatory CSR. This research paper is focused on the provision relating to mandatory spending and disclosure relating to Corporate Social Responsibility activities. It also discusses the major loopholes of provision which hinders the practical applicability of Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013 Introduction India has undergone a process of economic liberalization and comes under top 5 fastest growing economies in World over past three decades . The Industrial sector crated abundant wealth over the period of 10 years, yet the growth has trickled down the large population of the nation with lack of access to basic amenities such as sanitary, clean water, health facilities and the list goes on. India is ranked as 135th amongst 187 countries as per the latest Human Development Report. • 3. A Known Scribbler Frances Burney Analysis When reading A Known Scribbler: Frances Burney On Literary Life, Burney could be confused as a fictional character. For people who are familiar with the epistolary form, the collection of Burney s letters presents an odd feeling of dissociation where it is possible to temporarily forget Burney is real. A contrast to Evelina whose letters are meant to emphasize the protagonist s authenticity. Yet, this effect proves letters provide a dual function. On one hand, the reader expects the letter to contain the private thoughts of the writer. On the other, there is the acknowledgement that the writer will inevitably alter events to their perspective. Morever, Burney s lack of change in her writingsuggests life writing and fictionare similar. Because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clearly, Burney presents the merging of the two forms and reduces it to a simplification. The identity of a literary work, whether real or not, is impossible to define. Because if Burney s letters could be seen as a work of fiction or if Evelina is categorized as life writing, there would be few arguments. Understandably, people would argue Burney s letters is life writing because Burney was a real person. However, to the less knowledgeable reader, they might not realize it. If they were told A Known Scribbler: Frances Burney On Literary Life is an epistolary novel without knowing she existed, there is no way the reader could state the difference between this and Evelina. Or, if someone argued Evelina is fictitious because there is no records of her anywhere, by categorizing Evelina as an autobiography is enough authority to make her authentic. Therefore, because there is no other distinguishing characteristic besides choice, the very identities of life writing and fiction are compromised. Because the genres could blend with each other, it becomes difficult to confidently determine whether a literary work is based on the real or created from the mind. So long as the focus of the story is on a person in a realistic setting, the categorization of it is left to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Football Hooligans Football hooligans. Football has been an attractive sport around the world. Through this sport, many inhabitants have denominated themselves as fans of a particular football team. These people support the players in each match they have. Every football team has a group of fans that go to the stadium to encourage them in the game, but also they attend there to enjoy the show. Nevertheless, not all the fans go to see the matches since there are some people who belong to groups called hooligans. Those groups are highly violent, and they do not mind killing other people to defend their team. Consequently, citizens who belong to these violent groups should not be able to come back to the stadiums because hooligans do not benefit the image of football, do not understand the meaning of football, and do not respect the diversity of preferences. Violent hooligans have been damaging the image of the football day to day. First of all, the hooligans affect the perception of football because most members of violent hooligans are adolescents, and it makes people think that football promotes the violence. According to a study performed by a web page called Monographs said that of every one hundred members of hooligans, at least ninety are teenagers who are growing up with the belief that whether they have to kill someone to ... The worst of times was especially portrayed through the mobs in France. In A Tale of Two Cities, Dickens writes about mobs and how the peasants and even the aristocrats act while in a mob. The motif of mobs reveals the theme of how easily people are influenced by others around them such as Roger Cly s funeral , the storming of the Bastille, and when the peasants were trying to find Old Foulon. Mobs are seen throughout the book, but a huge mob occurred during Roger Cly s faked funeral. There were so many people on the street that even the horse drawn carriages could not move and had to stop. Even if the people did not know who Cly was, they wanted him and the other spies dead. • 6. Marketing Strategy Of T Mobile ORGANIZATION Since Q1 of 2013, T Mobile has set the telecommunications industry on fire by trailblazing with the the UN Carrier strategy. The UN Carrier strategy is essentially a set of changes to business approaches that have branded T Mobile as the antithesis of the traditional cell phone carrier, such as Verizon, AT T, and Sprint. Such changes to business practices include, no service contracts, upgrades whenever you want, and de subsidizing phones from plans. The strategy has proven to be successful. The employees have contributed to generating 29.6 billion in revenues in 2014. All the hard work of the employees and the successes they achieved have not come without a price, unfortunately. KEY ISSUE The telecommunications industry provides a very competitive landscape. Change within the industry is as reliable as the sunrise. And as a catalyst of change within the landscape, T Mobile usually drives that change. T Mobile was the first to offer no service contracts, the first to offer unsubsidized phone plans, etc. As a byproduct of this, much is expected of the frontline employees. Frontline retail employees are measured by countless metrics. As most employees will attest, the key issue within T Mobile is the problems that arise when the focus of the business shifts too quickly. Granted, in a competitive landscape, those within the landscape have to adapt quickly. However, T Mobile doesn t necessarily put its frontline employees in the best position in order to succeed. While this will be discussed further in the next section, there is nothing more discouraging as a sales rep than to be given a goal to achieve, given little to no grace period for learning and practicing correct behaviors, and have the focus of the business shift just when reps were beginning to reinforce those behaviors. In turn, this would cause reps not to hit key performance indicators (KPIs). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There has been a long debate among scholars about the role and definition of stylistics .Many scholars have tried to give their insights about the role of stylistics to the field of textual analysis. Coyle ( 1993) states that the purpose of stylistics is to uncover the literary language used by the author to formulate his message. stylistics then is concerned with revealing the aesthetic and artistic aspects of a text. Demonstrating understanding elements of design report by Monica Prakash91053 My previous experience I have been investigating print media selections when advertising tourist attractions in the city of Auckland. I have created a design of a double sided, bi fold, 3 panel brochure. I have learnt the elements and principles of design that are vital to this type of outcome. I have also learnt how to apply the elements of design which can be applied to any digital outcome. Important Elements/Principles of Design There are a variety of elements to be considered while developing a print media outcome. Colour is an important design element when used in print media because it creates visual interest towards the viewer. It determines whether the brochure is noticeable enough. This comes into consideration which is used to determine the quality of a design within print media. Colour can generate emotions as well as depict feeling. Alignment is also an important design element formerly used in print media because it creates a distinct, more orderly design. When aligning elements this allows them to create a visual connection with either font text, images, or shapes. It tightens up the design and eradicates the haphazard. This element prevents items of being randomly placed in a design. Alignment is one of the most basic and important principles of design. It acknowledges us to create order and organisation in a design. Proximity is another important design ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is no longer a typical Australian culture, but it has been replaced by a melting pot of diversity. There is no longer a typical Australian food, instead it has imported and embraced cuisines from around the world. There is no longer a typical Australian life instead each immigrant can have their own culture in Australia. There are few national holidays and festivals that are unique to Australia, but rather have come from other cultures. To get a better understanding of this, culture is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as: The behaviour and beliefs, characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group , and the appreciation and understanding of literature, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So what s so unique about that? Therefore, there is no longer a typical Australian food as the foods have come from many various cultures. Secondly, Australia consists of many cultures where each cultural group is allowed to have their own unique culture without integrating with Australian people. One could come from China and not even have to speak English because there are so many Chinese people in Australia over 1,950,000 Chinese live in Australia. Since Australia has many mixed cultures one could have their own culture in Australia. So many immigrants have come in a short space of time from over 226 different cultures thus diluting Australia s original culture. Migrants have enriched almost every aspect of Australian life, from business to the arts, from cooking to comedy and from science to sport. Australia s laws allow immigrants to express their own culture here. This all the more showing that Australia consists of many diverse cultures and that immigrants have changed the lifestyle in Australia. Lastly, most, if not all of Australia s national holidays and festivals, have come from diverse cultures. Six of the main festivals celebrated in Australia are Chinese New Year, Oz Asia festivals, Christmas pageant, Brisbane s French Experience, St Patrick s Day, and Australia Day. Volcanic and Seismic events are major pieces of evidence towards proving that plate tectonics theory is valid (40 marks) The theory of plate tectonics states that the Earth s lithosphere (top layer of the Earth s crust) is split up into rigid sections called plates that are moving relative to one another as they move on top of the underlying semi molten mantle. These plates are either continental, The North American Plate, or oceanic, The Nazca Plate. Tectonic plates are powered by convection currents, which is the circular movement of magma within the mantle. These currents are powered by the core, which heats the magma, causing it to rise, cool and fall back down. This circular motion causes the plates, which float on the mantle, to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Earthquakes can be created on any of the plate boundaries. Earthquakes occur when tension is released from inside the crust. Plates do not always move smoothly alongside each other and sometimes get stuck. When this happens pressure builds up. When this pressure is eventually released, an earthquake tends to occur. The point inside the crust where the pressure is released is called the focus. The point on the Earth s surface above the focus is called the epicentre. Earthquake energy is released in seismic waves. These waves spread out from the focus. The waves are felt most strongly at the epicentre, becoming less strong as they travel further away. The most severe damage caused by an earthquake will happen close to the epicentre. But there are some anomalies as there are earthquakes which don t take place on a plate boundary and it s the same with volcanoes. An example of this is Hawaii. Hawaii is a volcanic island which is found in the middle of a tectonic plate. Hawaii is an example of a hotspot. The places known as hotspots are volcanic regions thought to be fed by underlying mantle that is anomalously hot compared with the mantle elsewhere. They may be on, near to, or far from tectonic plate boundaries. There are two hypotheses to explain them. One suggests that they are due to hot mantle plumes that rise from the core mantle boundary. The other hypothesis postulates that it is not high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Entertainment has been a near essential part of culture since culture has been around. While entertainment has been a part of society for an indefinite time in recent years it has become increasingly integrated into the everyday lives of people. In the 18th century a popular example of entertainmentwould be the theatre. This was the era of great poets and writers like Shakespeare. • 17. The Theme Of Abandonment In Death Of A Salesman By Willy... Acting out the life of a secondhand salesman and a desperate housewife, Willy Loman and Amanda Wingfield depict a never ending display of actions that prevent them from ever achieving fulfillment. Lao Tzu is famously quoted for saying A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves. However, both Willy and Amanda create an environment of deceit, abandonment, and lack of freedom proving that they are poor leaders, burdening those around them and thus never truly achieving fulfillment. Both Willy and Amanda are surrounded by a valley of deceit as they progress through their path to not reaching fulfillment. The Lomans concentrate their deception inward and design ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Death of a Salesman , Willy s lack of freedom is directly linked to his economic security and his unachievable American Dream. Linda and Willy are confined by their own small apartment, socio economic status, and the need for basic necessities with no way out. Willy had the freedom to make choices, to learn from those around him and to take a chance once or twice; however, he chose to keep making mistakes until he was so far in debt that he had no freedom to make choices. Ultimately this play analyzes the American Dream itself and questions the validity of such an option for everyone in the system and whether they can achieve fulfillment. Perhaps its luck, intelligence, or timing, but one thing is for sure, Willy never had it. As for Amanda, Tom, and Laura in the Glass Menagerie , the confinement of their small apartment, bad job, and the inability to break free leaves them lacking fulfillment. Amanda s freedom dissolved years ago when her husband left and confined her to thoughts of the past. Amanda s goal is to give Laura the freedom she so very much desires; however, Laura ends up losing all freedom and confines herself in a world of glass animals. Freedom to the main characters can come from two realizations: escape from reality, or escape from family. Either way, there s no way for them to achieve fulfillment. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An oligopoly is a form of economy. Using the four firm concentration ration, an oligopoly is defined as a market in which the four firm concentration ratio is above 40% according to Wikipedia. In more general terms, a way of measuring market share is to look at the concentration ratio (CRN): The N firm concentration ratio is the percentage of market output generated by the N largest firms in the industry. We already covered the most used CR4 percentage of sales of the 4 top firms in the industry. One measure of this ratio is the 5 firms concentration ratio which shows the market share of the 5 largest companies. Normally an oligopoly exists when the top five firms in the market account for more than 60% of total market demand/sales. Relating to the index featured above, the market share for standard and emissionsВґ test remained approximately at over 98,76 % for the 5 top market players ( Dekra, TГњV, GTГњ, KГњS, FSP), so the company in which I work is an oligopolist. • 20. Masculinity In Sports Media Introduction Gender classification is a predominant topic within today s sports and is most broadly understood through the portrayals of sports media. Through overt and covert ways, sports media has continued to promote a masculine representation of sports (Millington Wilson, 2010; Messener, Duncan, Jensen, 1993). By understanding the way in which sports media portrays sports, one can recognize how masculinityhas dominated the world of sports. With the aid of two unique studies of sports media, this paper will critique the way in which media has effected the gendered depiction of sports. Study Summary In order to thoroughly understand sports media, it is critical to understand the way in which sports media impacts its consumers. Millington and Wilson (2010) explores the impact of sports media by focusing on its impact on a group of boys in a Vancouver High School. Millington and Wilson (2010) analyze the way in which sports media impacts ones activity in physical education and the way in which one interprets sports media. Through their research, Millington and Wilson (2010) found that young boys are equally susceptible to the impacts of both physical education and sports media. While the impacts may vary, both sports media and physical education promotes the importance of masculinity in sports and general society (Millington Wilson, 2010). While Millington and Wilson focus on a specific demographic, Messener et al. (1993) focus and compare the effects of sports ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the nuclear family was created to appear as the traditional and normative ideal, it has never been the reality for all families (Kimmel Holler, 2011, 154). The nuclear family was created after the end of the Second World War when women were taken out of the workforce and placed back into their homes. Men and women embraced this nostalgia, marrying and having children early, and divorcing little. The 1950s familymodel they created was almost immediately enshrined as the most natural and healthiest form possible (Kimmel Holler, 2011, 185). In Kimmel and Holler (2011), they define the nuclear family of the 1950s as a lifelong sexually exclusive, heterosexual monogamous marriage, based on affection and companionship, in which there is a sharp division of labour with the female as full time housewife and the male as primary provider and ultimate authority (Kimmel Holler, 2011, 141). It is the family structure where women stay at home, do household chores and child care, while men work and be the sole breadwinner for the family. In North America, the traditional family was characterized by: high rates of marriage (and young age at marriage), high fertility, and low and stable rates of divorce was the product of a convergence of an unusual series of historical, demographic and economic circumstances unlikely to return again , in the words of two leading family ... I was always resigned to being the slow one (ResearchGate). This is what Agatha Christie said one day when she realized she had a very serious disease, now known as dysgraphia. Christie s dysgraphiacaused her many challenges in her lifetime, but it never stopped her from being an amazing, bestselling novelist. In the United States, anywhere from five to thirty three percent of elementary children deal with some level of dysgraphia (Adam), a writingdisability. Other names for dysgraphia include backwards writing, developmental output failure, and math disability (Siegel). When a child has dysgraphia, there is a problem with the writing process; therefore, the children have trouble writing (Richards 63). Some of the victims of dysgraphia have trouble forming letters, while others can form letters but not very quickly (Paquette 88). It was once said, As students struggle with the process, they become preoccupied and can t let their ideas flow onto the page (89). Although there are many devices to help with the disease, there are very few ways to overcome dysgraphia. One of the tools one can use to help a child with dysgraphia is graphic organizers. Another tool someone can use is special education services in the school. Most schools offer very good special education services which can help children with many challenges, including dysgraphia (91). Other tools commonly used may include a spell checker (93), word prediction software, and text to speech tools (259). Many teachers also suggest keeping a list of commonly misspelled words and having a note taker. Teachers may also use oral tests instead of written tests to eliminate stress (93). One can also use the checkbook programs companies provide (259). Dysgraphia is caused by an issue between two main brain systems (Paquette 89). Some of the symptoms of dysgraphia may include cramped fingers, inconsistent formations and slants to letters, unfinished cursive writing, decreased speed of writing, and poor organization on the page (Richards 63). Health Disparities And Communication Disorders Health Disparities and Communication Disorders Courtney Barringtine Howard University Abstract Currently in the Unites States, Americans are struggling to maintain quality health without proper healthcare. As a result, health disparities have become a widespread epidemic plaguing minorities. Many of the various health disproportions stem from the government s inequality and racism. In other cases, genetics and socioeconomic status may cause health disparities. Overall, these disparities may be avoidable or unavoidable depending on the individual. Recently, health disparities have begun to implicate the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Speech pathologists have developed a larger caseload stroke ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An article in Psychology Today explains that currently minorities become ill at younger ages, suffer from more severe illnesses and die earlier than Whites (Lyubansky, 2013). Currently, minorities of low socioeconomic status (SES) suffer from more health discrepancies than any other race in the United States. Research has shown that these health disparities against all minorities have begun to implicate all medical professionals including speech pathologists. Among minorities such as Asians, Hispanics, Indians, Native Americans, and Middle Easterners, the African American race has been affected tremendously by the health disparities in the United States. Currently, African Americans have significantly higher mortality rates from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, HIV, unintentional injuries, pregnancy, sudden infant death syndrome, and homicide than do whites Americans (Fiscella Williams, 2004). While African Americans may lead in these categories, other minorities are not far behind in experiencing health disparities. Causes Biochemical theories have said to be a leading cause of health disparities in minorities. Various research sources confirm that genetics plays a role in the prevalence of disparities among minorities. Family traits such as metabolism, passed down illnesses, and life expectancy may cause an individual to acquire poor health ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Hyperglycemia Research Paper Hyperglycemia Hyperglycemia literally means excessive glucose in the blood. It is a disease that is classified as autoimmune because it is a result of the body attacking its own pancreatic cells which inhibits the pancreas from producing the proper amount of insulin that the body requires. There are two different classifications, Type I and Type II. They are diagnosed with these categories depending on whether the body does not have enough insulin or rejects the insulin produced by the pancreas. Age does not seem to have a direct correlation with this disease. Patients can be diagnosed as a child or late adulthood, as it effects all age groups. There are many different signs and symptoms, diagnosing tools, and treatment options for this condition. There are numerous signs and symptoms that accompany this disease, although many symptoms do not show until glucose levels are significantly elevated for a period of time. Type II diabetes is caused by a defect in the secretion of insulin and resistance to insulin and can account for up to 95% of all diabetic patients. • 40. African, Medieval Kingdom Of Mali, Questions And Answers 1. Were you surprised by anything you read in the sources on the African, medieval kingdom of Mali? I was surprised by how big the Mali Empire was, and how many people lived in the land (roughly size of western Europe, 50 million people). I was also surprised by how rich Mansa Musa was so rich that 500 slaves could go before him caring golden staffs that were four pounds! 2. As the people of medical West Africadid not generally record information through their own written language, how do you think historians know so much about Mali? A lot of the information known about the Mali Empire probably came from foreigners that visited a few of over 400 cities in the Mali Empire. Since Mansa Musa built large scale projects, like palaces in Timbuktu and Gao, architectural scholars and enthusiasts most likely visited them, and left detailed records. Simerly, Musa also promoted education, as he built a university. Because of this, foreigners would have come to the Mali Empire to study. During their stay, the students would also have written about the empire. Finally, traders would have also have helped historians learn about the Mali Empire. By recording what items were traded, and how much of each item was traded, historians would know about the wealth of Mali. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on the sources you have read thus far, what role does trade appear to play in cultural and economic progress in the civilizations you encountered in these readings and perhaps in those you studied in the 8th grade? In most cases, trade provides wealth to the region, which in turn stabilizes and fortifies it. With the security the region has, the people start to flourish, and arts, learning and technology grow. For example, when trade started to flourish in Europe, towns were established, new farming techniques were discovered and people could start to specialize in jobs other than farming. Also Venice, Marco Polo s hometown, was established, and also flourished, because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Intoucables Thesis The Intoucables is a French comedy movie filmed by Г‰ric Toledano and Olivier Nakache in 2011. The plot of this film is based on a true story in between a wealthy disabled old man, Philippe Pozzo di Borgo, and his caretaker Abdel Sellou (In the film, Abdel s character is named as Driss). The story of Philippe and Driss is inspiring. As a student who is learning to be a qualified volunteer, I think there are several things that we can learn from the experience of these two men. Thus, in this paper, I am going to explore what abilities should a good volunteer have, referring to the process of Driss taking care of Philippe. In my opinion, I feel that Driss is an extraordinary caregiver since he usually uses unconventional methods to look after... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, it cannot be said that Philippe is tolerating Driss, since they associate with each other very friendly. The reason behind their excellent relationship is Driss always showing the most sincere side of himself to Philippe. He takes care of all the ways Philippe needed and participate in every moment of his life after he is hired. Philippe once stated the intention of employing Driss in a conversation with his friend Antoine. Antoine originally suggests Philippe to fire Driss because he went to jail for robbery before. Even though Philippe notices Driss s criminal record, he does not follow his friend s wish. He clarified that the largest difference between Driss and his former caregivers is, he will not show any mercy to him regardless of his infirmity. For example, when someone phones Philippe, Driss will not pass him the phone as he sometimes forgets his illness. In addition, Driss will play tricks on Philippe (placing a hot water bottle on his legs) in order to test whether he does not have any sense. Just like what I mentioned in the above paragraph, ordinary people probably consider Driss s behaviors are insane, but I guess most of them just neglect the real needs and the genuine feeling of Philippe. Moreover, I insist this is the reason why the movie is named as The Intouchables , as no one has ever touched ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These included secure sanctuaries for times when the war might go badly. These were very effective as when the US troops outnumbered the Viet Cong they could retreat to a hiding spot to then launch an ambush. (http://www.pbs.org/battlefieldvietnam /guerrilla/index.html) Also the Viet Cong were made up of people from all around South Vietnam. This made it easier for the Viet Cong to gain trust from people as many of the South Vietnamese people knew at least one person fighting for the Viet Cong. (Edexcel GCSE, History Controlled Assessment, CA5 Vietnam 1960 75). They were also nice to the South Vietnamese people unlike the US troops. With this advantage the Viet Cong used the South Vietnamese people as intelligence spies, to gather information about the enemy US troops without them suspecting a thing. This worked well for the Viet Cong as the US troops wouldn t be able to recognise any Vietnamese people who were working for the Viet Cong, which meant that the Viet Cong could keep on finding out crucial information about the enemy without needing to capture any opposition fighters. In conclusion, I believe that the guerrilla tactics of the Viet Cong were much superior to those of the US troops as they were more adapted to the Vietnamese environment whereas the US tactics could not be put fully into action, and the fact that the Viet Cong knew their environment more compared to the US was a dominant ... • 43. The Importance Of Kneeling The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word, kneeling as, The action of kneel v.; a falling down, or remaining, on the knees in worship, submission, etc.; in quot. 1631, advancing on the knees; formerly often with pl., a genuflexion. This definition shows kneeling in a very respectful and submissive manner. Kneeling, throughout centuries, has been used in many different churches, in beautiful ceremonies, and even when one is going to propose. Kneeling is a symbol of great honor and high respect for the one that you may be kneeling for. In the Catholic church, during prayer and during worship, everyone kneels on the kneeling bar provided, and bows their heads, as a sign of respect and animosity for their God. While being knighted, the knights kneel down in front of the king or queen in respect for their lineage and in respect for their position or possible friendship. While proposing to the one someone is in love with, it is customary to kneel on one knee and ask the question, this is seen a sign of submission and it is also seen as a loving gesture. Oddly enough, ever since Colin Kaepernick, who played for the San Francisco 49ers, took a knee during the National Anthem, to spread awareness of the Black Lives Matter movement, kneeling has all of a sudden started to become seen as uncivil, hateful, and plain rude. Throughout history, kneeling has been seen as a sign of respect, but lately in the media it has been viewed as an act of disrespect. The president of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mathematics Of Deciphering A Crime Scene Amanda Stevenson IB Mathematics SL Block 1 December 2014 Internal Assessment The Mathematics Involved in Deciphering A Crime Scene Introduction Though one may assume that the logistics involved with deducing the events that occurred at a crime scene merely involve the reasonable deduction skills of an individual, in reality adequate results can only be achieved through the use of certain mathematical methods. For this particular investigation, the examples deal with a homicide case where it is known that there was only one shooter and one victim. In order to analyze blood patterns and determine a time of death, the Pythagorean Theorem and Newton s Law of Cooling must be utilized. This exploration is important to my future as an attorney with a focus on homicide cases. It will be important to discover the uncertainties associated with each of these methods, as they appear quite simple to begin with. Proving the Pythagorean Theorem In an effort to fully understand the Pythagorean Theorem, I must first examine a method used to derive the formula. Whilst I examined several different methods, I was confused as to how a person could think of such strategies. This method was first derived by Bhaskara. I used this proof, because it best connects with the crime scene situation at hand. The use of multiple triangles and squares mimic the makeup of a room. Bhaskara s Proof: I decided to manipulate Bhaskara s method and make it more understandable for my usage. My interpretation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Critically Appraise A Popular Leadership Theory Leadership is a concept that is constantly discussed yet there is seldom agreement about what it is. Even though most agree leadership is crucial to success of any people, project or venture. People define leadership differently and often times misconstrue leadership with management. Leadership provides the vision and focuses on the people while management focuses on objectives and tasks. It is however valid that a budding leader may sometimes need to act as both a leader an as a manager whenever necessary. Over the years, in an attempt to define leadership and reach a consensus on what it is, various leadership theories have ensued. Some leadership theories include; great man, transactional, situational, style, trait, skill, contingency, transformational, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the competent and qualified physician is leader of a public health or healthcare institution and he is deemed a great leader based on his charisma and ambition, when there is a challenge such as an outbreak and he is able to proffer solution. He will be respected and trusted more. However, a demerit to this approach is that it is too simplistic and may prevent contribution from other qualified members of the system. Hence serving to demotivate them at their work because they may feel irrelevant. Also, the problem of succession quickly comes to mind, so in the event of loss or absence of the great leader , there will be a problem with replacing him and the institution may suffer. This leads to another demerit of the theory. Based on the fact that a leader had to be born that way, there is no way to teach leadership to another person or improve one s own level of leadership. More recent theories and occurrence has invalidated this claim. Much of the great man theory praises characteristics that are majorly associated with natural male characteristics and used male examples in its explanation. In orders words, women cannot be leaders. But this has been negated, as there were females who successfully led men to wars in history. An example is Ashanti (a woman) who led her people to a successful war). In recent years, we now have ...
