The Nuclear Of The Atomic Bomb
The atomic bomb was developed in an effort to counter proposed technologies by the Nazis in Germany,
who were trying to develop superweapons in their effort to conquer Europe. Top physicists like Albert
Einstein warned that nuclear reaction would release enough energy to level an entire city. By mid 1945,
U.S. military leaders were presented with a few options regarding how they should approach the end of
the war with Japan. Solutions included mounting a joint invasion with the Soviets, creating a naval
blockade, allowing the Japanese to retain their emperor if they surrendered unconditionally and created a
cease fire, and dropping the atomic bomb. However, they needed to take into account many variables that
would affect their decision. The U.S. should have dropped the bomb to impress the Soviets, to prevent the
need for a possible land invasion, and to end the war sooner; therefore, the U.S. s use of the atomic bomb
only served to heighten the Cold War between the Soviets and U.S.
Truman believed that he could intimidate the Soviet Union with his atomic weapon. He believed that I
have an ace in the hole and another one showing so unless he has threes or two pair (and I know he has
not) we are sitting all right (Truman Library). The ace that Truman is talking about is the atomic bomb,
and when he says that we are sitting all right , Truman means that a Soviet atomic bomb, or something
worse, would be disastrous to world politics, as Truman planned to use the atomic

Autobiography Of A Descriptive Baseball Player
I move to the edge of my seat, the ridges in the aluminum bleachers are very uncomfortable. I feel the sun
shining on my face. The cool northern breeze brushes across my cheeks and through my hair. The player
s bright white uniforms with royal blue lettering stand out against the green grass. The knees of the player
s pants stained with brown from the dirt, breaking up the white simplicity of the bottom half of the
uniform. The pitcher winds up, transferring every ounce of energy from his toes, to his fingertips and,
into the baseball. Within the blink of an eye the ball has left his hand and entered the catcher s glove. The
impact of the ball against the padded leather glove makes a popping sound. Strike one. The fans begin to
cheer. The batter

Economics Degree Program Entry Essay
The topic of the 2008 financial crisis and its economic implications has been debated extensively in the
media. This subject has triggered in me an intellectual curiosity about how such a crisis could spill into
the World s overall economy so massively to the point of creating one of the sharper global recessions
since the 1929 Great Depression. The little research I have conducted on this topic was a turning point for
me as I found myself appreciating economics in ways that I never imagined before. A main appealing
feature that I discovered about this discipline is its logical approach to the analysis of optimizing human
behavior and societal wellbeing. My acquired passion to Economics was due to my realization that a
commanding intellectual capacity in this discipline is so crucial to comprehending the essence of
prosperity of societies. Furthermore, I started reading economic articles and books, which made me love
economics even more, including The wealth of Nations, by Adam Smith . For this reason, I have decided
to pursue a degree in Economics and become a successful professional economist.
I believe that I strongly have the personal attributes and academic skills that will allow me to do well in
an Economics degree program. In my high school, I was known as a person with a clear sense of logical
thinking and problem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have decided to study Economics in the UK, since it is known as the birth place of Economics,
specifically Classical Economics (with pioneering work of famous economists including Adam Smith,
David Ricardo), and Keynesianism. I cannot think of a country with a stronger tradition in Economics. I
believe that studying in a country with this much tradition would be a long life learning experience. What
is more, UK universities are constantly ranked highly and offer a multi cultural environment that would
incontestably enhance the learning

Comparing The Food And Drug Administration (FDA) And...
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) are
government agencies that coordinate with one another to ensure the safety of our nation s food supply.
For instance, the FDA is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring safety, effectiveness,
quality and security of human/veterinary drugs, vaccines, and medical services. In addition, the FDA is
also responsible for all cosmetics and dietary supplements, tobacco and products of radiation. There is a
law in place, which has been recently signed by President Obama on January 4, 2001 called the Food
Safety Modernization Act. This reformed food safety law is over sighted by the FDA agency to ensure
that the U.S. food supply is safe, by focusing on ways to prevent contamination from previously reported

the USDA to ensure food and medical safety is regulated lawfully. Every four years, there is an important

Citizen Kane Cinematography Analysis
The film Citizen Kane uses stylistic cinematography techniques that help stress both material presence
and textual representation. One of the main techniques used throughout the film is deep focus which
usually makes everything that s in the frame of the shot relevant. This deep focus contributes toward the
viewing of the film as presence and also representation. For example, one could think of the broad and
self conscious use of deep focus...as an attempt to present images that are purely and fully presence,
presenting themselves to the view in their fullness without any added meaning or interpretation.
(commentary) or the deep focus can be looked at as an interpretative point of view. Basically, deep center

Initially, there is a shot far from Kane where he is by himself in a field filled with snow, the camera
gradually pulls back inside the window of a lodge where Kanes guardians and a man named Mr. Thatcher
are having a heated discussion. Mr. Thatcher is about to take Kane away. The camera rests at a position
about eye level with Thatcher and Kane s mom, who are sitting near one another at a table in the frontal
area on the right hand side of the shot. Amidst the shot is Kane, who is out of sight but still visible in the
background through the window, and on the left hand side is the father, who is standing, trying to declare
his power but is unsuccessful at each endeavor. The situating of the characters is intentional, Charles is in
the center in light of the fact that he s the focal point of the dialog. The cinematography in this film seems
to be taking a look through a window into the life of Charles Kane but never picking up a genuine
comprehension of the main chararcter, yet rather a variety of viewpoints. These techniques stress textual
representation in the film. The mother and Mr. Thatcher are situated together at the same tallness on the
grounds that they are of the same outlook as far as

Anheuser-Busch External Forces
Demographic forces: This macro environmental force has many untapped opportunities such as females
and the older generation. Anheuser Busch has recently tried to tap into these markets because the
opportunities are very great. They have pulled their advertising away from the younger generation and
started to focus more on women and the older generations. They have recently created margarita lime
drinks and other beverages targeted more for the female market.
Economic forces: Many economic forces pose threats to Anheuser Busch whether its consumer spending
or employment. When the unemployment rate goes up that usually tends to lower beer sales which hurts
the company in a major way. Many consumers do not have the extra many to spend on beer. Secondly,
when consumers have extra money in their pockets they tend to have more money to spend on objects
that enjoy. In this case the beer industry benefits, but if it s the other way around the company can be

Obasan and Poh-Poh Essay
Oftentimes when reading fictional texts with similar themes, readers will find themselves encountering
similar characters. In the realm of modern literature, elderly Asian women are often portrayed with many
similarities; they are seen as protective, caring people who possess great wisdom. Ayako Nakane, also
known as Obasan, the title character of Joy Kogawa s Obasan, and the character Poh Poh in Wayson
Choy s novel The Jade Peony, are very similar in this regard. Both Obasan and Poh Poh drive forwards
their respective narratives with their strong personalities. They have each suffered through troublesome
pasts and as a result have become very wise. Obasan and Poh Poh share many similarities but they also

Even when her husband passes away, she does not break down into hysteria; she grieves quietly: The
language of her grief is silence... Over the years, silence within her small body has grown large and
powerful (Kogawa, 14). Despite her lack of words, Obasan is a source of love and steadfast support for
her niece Naomi and her nephew Stephen. When their parents disappear, Obasan steps in, never
hesitating to bear the weight of caring for the abandoned children. She feeds them, clothes them, and
ensures their well being under impossible circumstances. Her commitment to them never falters, even
when they neglect her. Stephen repeatedly treats Obasan with impatience and rudeness. Regardless,
Obasan constantly puts the needs of others before her own. Her actions are aimed at making the people
around her happy. Obasan does everything in her power to ensure that her niece and nephew find a place
for themselves in the world and Naomi takes comfort in her gentleness and dependability. Despite her
silence, Obasan is a focal point of the narrative and at the center of the main character Naomi s life.
In Wayson Choy s The Jade Peony, Poh Poh is also a driving force of the narrative. The story is separated
into three segments; each segment tells a story from the perspective of a different sibling. The siblings are
Poh Poh s grandchildren. Poh Poh is a crucial element of all three stories. She forms a bond with each

Sgt. Gottlieb of the Durham Police Department assumed control of the investigation. During his first
interview with Gail, no notes were recorded. Approximately 48 hours after the party, Sgt. Gottlieb
requested a search warrant for the location of the party. Over the course of the investigation, Gail s
recollection of events changed multiple times. The number of attackers varied, even one recollection
accusing the second dancer, Kim Roberts, of helping the attackers. In Sgt. Gottlieb s interview with Kim
Roberts, she called Gail a crock (Johnson, 2006). Additionally, Gail claimed she was attacked brutally
and suffered multiple injuries. Each student offered to take polygraphs, which were declined. DNA
samples were also provided by players, which came back negative after testing by the crime lab. At this
time, Gail s credibility came into question. The number of attackers changed multiple times, from 1 to 5
attackers. The accuser claimed she was brutally attacked; however, the medical examination yielded no
physical injuries. While interviewing the second dancer, she stated she never left the accuser alone for
more than 5 minutes. DNA testing conducted by the crime lab came back negative, displaying no
connection to the accuser and players. Despite the insufficient evidence, Sgt. Gottlieb continued with the
investigation. A photo lineup was requested by Sgt. Gottlieb to determine the identities of the attackers.

Theme Of Justice In The Oresteia
Finding Peace Within Justice If you want peace, work for justice. Pope Paul VI. The Oresteia trilogy,
which contains the plays Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, and The Furies, uses justice as its dominant
theme. Aeschylus wrote these plays sometime after the end of the Persian wars, around 449 BC, when the
star of Athens was on its superiority. It was the commencement of a new era, marked by the
establishment of a new social and political order built on democracy and the rule of law. The rule of law
designed the institutionalization of justice. Justice was not a personal responsibility to be handed out
according to the rule of family dispute of blood for blood anymore. It was now a state responsibility
representing the community as a whole that the law was set down. It was an advancement in the direction
of realizing a more peaceful and orderly existence. Though, this institutionalization of justice was also an

In the first play, Agamemnon, Clytemnestra murders Agamemnon to retaliate for the sacrifice he made of
their daughter, Iphigenia. Clytemnestra did this out of revenge, since the code of getting even demanded
that someone s murder must be avenged by their close blood relative. This called for torment at the hands
of the Furies, who were female divinities of a terrible frightening aspect, that came upon anyone who
murdered a close blood relative. In the second play, The Libation Bearers, Orestes kills Clytemnestra to
avenge the murder of Agamemnon. This act is still maintaining the revenge principle, but it is committed
primarily at the instigation of Apollo. Apollo takes center stage in the third play, The Furies, to argue in
defense of Orestes in a trial supervised by Athena. This ultimately leads to the end of revenge killing and
the establishment of a new order of justice based on the laws of the

The Film Red Detachment Of Women
In subsequent years following the establishment of the People s Republic of China came a revolutionary
new approach to not only producing films, but also film s very role in communist society. During this
period the state gained complete control of the filmmaking industry, decreeing that the utilitarian
functions of art and literature were to become a powerful weapon in serving the revolutionary struggle. In
an otherwise artistically stifling period in which socialist realism pervaded all creative outlets, Xie Jin
managed to retain some autonomy and emerged as one of the cleverest Chinese directors in the early
1960s. In his 1961 film Red Detachment of Women, Jin provides a classic revolutionary melodrama, yet
also displays elements of formalism so that the viewer becomes conscious of the manipulations of his
film technique. To analyze this film, I will use Mao Zedong s 1942 Talks at the Yan an Forum on
Literature and Art, clip #10 Landmark 2, and clip #6 We are joining the red army to elaborate on the
major themes and cinematic style that distinguish Xie Jin s work from his contemporaries.
During the Zhengfeng (1942 1944), the Chinese Communist Party strongly believed that artistic
expressions lacked a unified cultural approach. As such, they used various methods to consolidate
ideological unanimity among cadres around Maoism. In his Talks at the Yan an Forum on Literature and
Art, Mao Zedong stresses the struggle on the cultural front as an indispensable

Theme Of Bravery In Life Is Beautiful
How does Benigni show the significance of bravery in the film Life is Beautiful?
Life is Beautiful (1997), an Italian comedic drama set in 1939, tells the tale of Guido, a young Jewish
man living during the time of World War II, the film follows Guido and his family; from when they were
happy living freely to when they are forced to work unfairly in concentration camps. Directed by Roberto
Benigni, also known for Pinocchio (2002), Life is Beautiful portrays many important themes and
messages to the audience. Benigni shows the importance of bravery in the film, through cinematic
techniques including camera angles, lighting, and sound.
Bravery is likely the most conspicuous theme in Life is Beautiful. It is exhibited throughout the whole
film by the cinematography directed by Roberto Benigni. Cinematography includes the different angles,
camera movement and editing. Camera angles can affect the audience in many ways. The most common
camera angle used in this film is the wide shot as it shows the characters completely not only the main
character but all the characters in the foreground and background. To portray the theme of the importance
of bravery, Benigni uses a mid shot to grasp the attention of the audience which focuses in on Guido and
a German Nazi Officer. In this scene, Guido offers to translate the rules of the concentration camp as he
claims to speak German, however Guido only wishes to translate the rules for his son making the rules

Definition Of A Neutral Question
There is no such thing as a neutral question. Evaluate this statement with reference to two areas of
knowledge. In order to evaluate this statement, we must clearly understand what is a neutral question. A
definition of a neutral question can be: A question asked in such a way that it does not imply personal
opinion or bias. I assume that a true question has to be neutral. If a question reveals to be non neutral, the
objectivity that defines a question doesn t exist anymore. It becomes a statement or a judgement with a
question make up. To develop the evaluation of this statement, we have to figure out what are the
conditions for a question to be neutral. The point of a question is to request knowledge or information; it
gives control over the direction taken to fill in the request. One could argue that the initial choice of what
question is asked, in itself, is a form of bias and on those grounds, neutrality is impossible any time there
is a question. For this reason, it might be good to think of neutrality on a continuum with some questions
being more neutral than others. Examples of neutral questions can be identified as: Can you describe the
kind of information you would like to find? Or what are you hoping to find? A neutral question can then
be defined as a bias free enquiry for knowledge. For my Areas of Knowledge I will be referencing Ethics
and Natural sciences. What is neutrality? Neutrality is about not going forward or backward or taking a
side. Neutrality

Essay On Puritan Theology
Puritan Theology
Puritans always had very strict beliefs.Among these beliefs the puritans thought sin should not be
expressed and a sinner should be shamed, hell is the single most terrifying thing so they instilled fear to
get people to convert, and they are the city on a hill so they should lead by example and be the best. In the
sermons Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, A Model of Christian Charity, and a Sermon Preached by
Samson Occom the authors talk about some of these puritan beliefs.
Puritans thought of themselves as the elect . The elect is a group of people who were predestined to be
saved by God. John Winthrop knows that the puritans believe that and plays it to his advantage. He uses
this quote to prove to the puritans they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He directly states the eyes of all people are upon us. Thus giving the puritans validation. He say this to
win the over and get them to see his side by telling something they already believe. He used the puritan
theology to prove his point. Another major aspect of puritan theology is the fear they instilled into the
public. They always made hell seem so atrocious (as they should have). They did this to get people to
convert to their religion. Edwards plays with idea, almost like Winthrop did, to establish fear to get the
puritans to confess and be saved. One quote that really stood out was,
The wrath of God burns against them; their damnation does not slumber; the pit is prepared; the fire is
made ready; the furnace is now hot; ready to receive them; the flames do now rage and glow. The
glittering sword is whet and held over them, and the pit hath opened her mouth under them. The devil
stands ready to fall upon them, and seize them as his own (Edwards

Edgar Degas And Western Realism In Hokusai s Impressionism
Edgar Degas appears to have never accommodated himself to the name of impressionist, wanting to call
himself a realist, independent, or free. Like the impressionists, he looked to catch transient minutes in the
stream of present day life, yet he demonstrated little enthusiasm for painting plein air scenes, favoring
scenes in theaters and bistros lit up by fake light, which he used to illuminate the forms of his figures,
complying to his training. Degas s choice of subject matter mirrors his modern cutting edge approach. He
best liked scenes of ballet dancers. His concentration to ballet dancers increased strongly in the late
1800s, and eventually he composed nearly 2,000 works on the area. They address the way the human
body moves, investigating the physicality and train of the ballet dancers using distorted stances and
abrupt vantage points. Without the Japanese printmaker Hokusai, Impressionism may never have
happened. He is a father figure of Western Modernism. In Japan, Hokusai was viewed as crude,
underneath the thought of the magnificent literati. In the West, his outline of space with color and line, as
opposed to by means of one point perspective, would have a revolutionary effect. Most artist were
influenced by his landscapes but Degas, he was influenced by Hokusai s rendering of human forms. You
can truly see how he was influence by Hokusai in his bathers artwork. Degas was uncommonly interested
in women s private, rather than public, appearances. Degas

Langston Hughes and Jesse B. Simple
Lansgton Hughes and Jesse B. Semple
In the early 1940s an African American writer by the name of Langston Hughes, who flourished during
the Harlem Renaissance in New York, had established a character in his short story writings named Jesse
B. Semple. Through these short stories he used this character to represent the black man of his times.
However the question remains, is Jesse B. Semple an accurate representation of the black man of 1940s?
This question can best be answered by looking at the conditions of society during that time period, what
the mind set of the black man in that era and comparing it to the representation that Hughes created with

His characteristics were that he had little formal education, but he had a lot of common sense and could
see the truth in many situations. In many ways Langston Hughes used Semple and his stories to project
the voice of all the black men of that time. Semple touched on issues such as racism, interracial marriages
and any other important issues that showed what it meant to be black during that period. Hughes took
every issue that he felt was necessary in the accurate representation of the Negro man, and projected
through the life of Semple. Hughes also took the name Semple and often called him, Simple to emphasize
how simple his life seemed at a glance, but in fact it was not simple at all. The events Jesse B. Semple
went through in his stories and his opinions and views of what was going on in the world showed a
certain irony that the society of that time had for them. With the stories of Jesse B. Semple and his,
simple life, he felt he had captured the mindset of every black man of the 1940s, because he felt most
black men in 1940s were bound to the same characteristics which Semple had.
Now fully understanding the life and inspirations of Langston Hughes, the society and mind set of the
black man in the 1940s, and the representation that Jesse B. Semple held for the black men of that time,
we can answer the question: Is Jesse B. Semple an accurate representation of the black man of the 1940s?

Lukewarmism In Revelation 3
In Revelation 3, Jesus criticizes the church of Laodicea for its lukewarm approach to the Christian
lifestyle, wishing that His people were either cold or hot (15) and threatening that He would spit the
lukewarm out of [His] mouth (17). What does it mean to be lukewarm, per say? In the context of
Christianity, a lukewarm church is one that, although they claim to be in communion with Christ,
simultaneously indicate through their pursuit of wealth, prestige, and power that they reject the notion of
denying themselves, taking up the cross of Christ, and following Him (Mark 8:34). This decision of
committing oneself to Christ involves much more than simply believing in Him; rather, it involves a
commitment that is radically willing to bring

Fluoride Containing Dentifrices And Its Effects On The...
Fluoride containing dentifrices have been used in oral hygiene in the Western regions to prevent caries
formation and reduce gingivitis. A particularly vulnerable population to early carries is school aged
children. Researchers have been looking for a more effective combination of ingredients to to achieve a
faster and more effective way of plaque, gingivitis and carries reduction in school aged children. A four
weeks long pilot study was conducted by Cagetti, Strohmenger, Basile, Abati, Mastroberardino, and
Campus (2015) in Italy, to compare the effects of fluoride containing toothpaste versus a toothpaste with
main active ingredients of fluoride, triclosan, cetylpyridinum chloride [CPC], and essential oils on supra
gingival plaque and bleeding on probing.
. The study was carried out by members of WHO Collaborating Centre of Milan for Epidemiology and
Community Dentistry, Milan, Italy, and all examinations taken place at a primary school in Sassari, Italy.
The participants were supervised by their teacher during examinations. The literature review incorporated

Potassium Permanganate Lab Report
Introduction Glucose is very important in our daily lives. It gives us energy to carry out all of our
activities. Cells in our bodies need glucose to respire and in the process release the energy we need.
Glucose is also a type of carbohydrate. It has a chemical formula of C6H12O6 and is a monosaccharide
reducing sugar (Kolej Mara Banting Students Handbook for Biology HL Year 1). It is the simplest form
of carbohydrate. In this experiment, sulphuric acid, H2SO4 and potassium permanganate, KMnO4 is
added into glucose with different concentration and the time taken for the purple pink colour of potassium
permanganate solution to change to colourless is recorded. This is because glucose donates electrons to

Helping The Homeless And Interacting With Offenders At...
Biographical Sketch Devoting my senior undergraduate year to helping the homeless and interacting with
offenders at Community Crisis Incorporation Service truly reinforced my desire to help the
underprivileged. During this internship, I was able to step outside of my comfort zone and connect with
individuals that I have not engaged with before. I enjoyed the feeling that I received by helping them
enhance their wellbeing and providing them with useful resources that accommodated their needs. After
my internship was complete, I have continued to volunteer each winter in the Warm Night Hyperthermia
Program assisting families stay warm during the colder months. Morgan State Graduate School of Social
Work Education has assisted me to fulfill my sense of duty in helping impoverished adolescent girls, boys
and families to succeed. Hope, encouragement and someone who believes in you are often the little push
one needs to live up to their full potential. My current position as a Community Support Worker at First
Home Care allows me to work with children and adolescents in the Washington D.C and surrounding
areas who have mental health disabilities. In working with this population, I have the opportunity to
decrease crisis in the community, educate youth on positive decision making skills, how to communicate
in an appropriate manner, and implement proper /effective coping skills. This upcoming school year for

Bill T. Jones Biography

Bill T. Jones
Our politicians toss around the term the American Dream loosely these days, but Bill T. Jones has lived
that dream. Sometimes the dream has seemed more like a nightmare, but the larger arc of his life looks
triumphant, a genuine fulfillment of American striving and ambition, very much in the real, waking
world. Bill T. Jones, byname of William Tass Jones, born February 15, 1952, Steuben county, New York,
U.S., American choreographer and dancer who, with Arnie Zane, created the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane
Dance Company.
Jones rose from being the 10th of 12 children of migrant farm workers to one of the most notable,
recognized modern dance choreographers and directors of our time. Through HIV and AIDS, which ...

including Last Supper at Uncle Tom s Cabin/The Promised Land (1990) and Still/Here (1994). Jones has
described Last Supper as grounded in his embodied experience of race: I would make a work that
articulated all the questions that I have lived with. I would speak in a voice that was decidedly African
American. His vision of the work as founded in an exploration of black history was developed and
enacted by a multiracial company that included several guest artists, suggesting that the notion of black
history is one that is necessarily bound up with other histories and can be located in unlikely archives.
The company included Arthur Aviles, Leonard Cruz, Seán Curran, Lawrence Goldhuber, Gregg Hubbard,
Heidi Latsky, Betsy McCracken, Maya Saffrin, Andrea Woods, and Jones himself. In 2011 the company

Factors Of Juvenile Crime
Juvenile crime has been a major issue in the United State, from the beginning and its impact on society.
People are trying to find effective ways to stop it. Juvenile crime has many factors that influences the
United States and makes people want to stop it. Juvenile crime is an issue that needs to be stopped.
Juvenile crime can be a danger to many people. Juvenile crime had a strong uprising when conditions
within the society got worse. Research over the past few decades on normal child development and
development on delinquent behavior has shown that individual, social, and community conditions and
interactions influence behavior(McCord). This says that in bad environments in the community the
children that live there are more likely to be an individual with juvenile delinquency. Clearly, genes affect
biological development, but there is no biological development without environmental input, Bock and
Goode (McCord, 66). This quote says that environmental interaction develops kids, so kids that interact
with a bad environment can end up in a worse position than other kids [what other kids? Kids from a
good environment? JMH]. The age can influence whether or not a child will be a juvenile delinquent.
Studies of criminal activity by age constantly find that rates of offending begin to rise in pre adolescence
or early adulthood(McCord). This says that juvenile crime usually starts when the children are teens or
entering their puberty years. This can be a big deal because that age is usually when kids are influenced
more easily. The percentage of boys who self reported serious delinquent behavior rose from 5 percent at
age 6 to about 18 percent at age 16 for whites and 27 percent for blacks at age 16. Loeber (McCord,68).
This says that delinquent behavior and crime rose for each race at the age of 16. The family influence also
plays a big role for a child if the child is going to be a delinquent or not. When families have difficulties
with the task laid on them, the product often is a juvenile delinquent.(McCord) This says that parents with
no care in how their child ends up will have their child become a juvenile delinquent.
Juvenile crime is affecting the United states because Juvenile crime and

Importance Of Animal Use For Entertainment
The third reason that humans use animals is for entertainment. Animal circuses, aquariums, zoos,
bullfighting, and dog fighting are examples of using animals for enjoyment. There has always been a
conflict whether it is ethical to keep animals in captivity and away from their natural habitat just for fun.
Humans started using animals for amusement since the ancient years. Even though the previous
generations methods were more deadly and cruel, the same concept of animal use for entertainment is
still applied. Kate Good, a famous author and animal activist, states in her article Five Cruel Methods
Used to Train Animals That Will Make You Skip the Next Animal Show in No Time: When you stop
looking at these attractions as an opportunity for you to see the animals you love, and see them for the
profit driven businesses they truly are, the discrepancies between good intentions and cruel action
becomes apparent. People visit the entertainment centers because they love animals without knowing
why the animals act the way they do. The crowd applauses when an elephant rides a tricycle, when a cat
jumps through multiple burning rings, when bears play soccer, or when dolphins draw Christmas trees.
Do these animals understand what they are doing? Are they doing what they are doing because they enjoy
it? No, evidence has revealed that animals go through a cruel process, also known as PHAJAAN, since
their infancies to be trained for these humane activities for the public.

Wind In The Willows Analysis
The Wind in the Willows describes four close friends and their adventures through the Wild Woods.
Kenneth Grahame portrays the characters as animals who depict human behavior. Their journey of
friendship is not always easy though. You see how each character grows throughout the novel, but society
still makes their final judgment of each individual. The passage I chose to analyze, found on page 157, is
a description from the narrator of what life is like for the friends after their adventures that winter. Mole
is supposed to be the main character, but Toad s reckless behavior often steals the spotlight. The
adventures begin when Mole decides to leave his home and take a walk along the riverbank. There he
meets Rat who befriends him and tells him stories of Badger and Toad, which makes Mole curious to
meet them. When introduced to Toad, Mole realized how rich he was due to the fact his estate is Toad
Hall. Toad convinces the two to take a ride with him in his caravan, but the ride suddenly takes a turn for
the worse. They are forced off the road by a speeding automobile, but instead of being angry, Toad is
amazed by the vehicle. They worry about Toad s new obsession, but Mole and Rat decide it s time to go
home. They meet with Badger and explain how reckless he has become. Concerned about his friend,
Badger comes up with a plan to help Toad become more responsible. When this plan fails, soon later
Toad is caught and imprisoned for stealing a vehicle. Toad escapes from prison

Cognitive Behavioral Theory Of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Abstract This case conceptualization of Francis discusses the principles of the cognitive behavioral theory
that are based on the belief that learning, cognitions, and perceptions play a significant role in the
development and maintenance of emotional and behavioral problems. Various CBT models are applied to
the diagnostic determinants of Francis dysfunctional behavior and the empirically supported methods of
cognitive behavioral treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder are used to build a treatment plan to
aid in Francis recovery. Cognitive Behavioral Case Conceptualization of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Presenting Problems Francis, a married, Caucasian male, requested psychological assessment for
thoughts that he describes as recurrent, automatic ideations of dangerous occurrences befalling his wife
and daughter when he is not present, and therefore, cannot save them. Francis explained that he is fully
aware that his family is not in danger, that his thoughts are not based on reality, and he describes these
thoughts as silly. He explained that his concerns are temporarily abated when he contacts his wife for
confirmation that they are safe. Francis contacts his wife and daughter hourly, by telephone, when he is
away from home. The contact process involves Francis wife briefly picking up the phone and hanging up
to signal Francis that they are safe. He explained that he has had these problems for years; however, they

Handwriting s Personality Traits
The idea that are handwriting reveals personality traits is largely recognized throughout the world
whether people believe it to be a fact or myth. Writing is usually described as a physical way to express
thoughts. When a person thinks, each thought is inevitably influenced by some emotion or previous bias
that the person has. Since writing at the time it is believed that the emotions and bias would translate into
the handwriting in turn the handwriting could, hypothetically, be used to reveal personality traits. Yet,
handwriting changes all the time a person can change their handwriting many times during the day. Does
this signify the feelings that the person goes through each time the pen is put to paper, or does it show
that this belief is a myth due to the fact that the handwriting changes so often? The ability to figure a
person s personality traits just by analyzing their handwriting, if valid, would be a valuable tool in the
criminal justice fields. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a graphologist wishes to examine the person s handwriting they measure a variety of aspects. They
measure the amount of pressure that is put on the paper while writing, the slants, the angles, and spacing
of the letters. Graphology looks at the reasons for the variations in the writing and finds the correct trait
to tie it with. While you are writing you generally don t focus on making every letter the uniform
structure that was taught in kindergarten. In this way the writer is unaware of the hints that they are
giving away as these hints are mostly subconscious. Although this technique seems to be trustworthy and
a valid source of information, there is still questions about the links between the aspects of handwriting

How Does Meningitis Cause Homeostasis
Meningitis occurs when bacteria or viruses invade the bloodstream and infect the meninges. The bacteria
or viruses multiply rapidly and cause the meninges to inflame and swell. The brain is subjected to an
increase in pressure that can cause symptoms such as a headache and a stiff neck.
In the most severe cases, this can cause injury to the brain. Infection can also spread to the inner ear,
damaging the hair cells in the cochlea or causing inflammation of the auditory nerve, resulting in
sensorineural
(or nerve) deafness.
Some bacteria that cause meningitis can also cause septicaemia. Septicaemia is caused by bacteria
multiplying in the bloodstream. The bacteria release toxins that damage the walls of the blood vessels,
causing them to leak. The immune system is unable to counteract these toxins. ... Show more content on

The heart and lungs have to work harder to supply oxygen and nutrients to the vital organs. This can lead
to multi organ failure.
The toxins released by the bacteria also affect the clotting mechanism, which in turn affects the blood
supply to the vital organs, causing tissue damage. The rash associated with septicaemia is caused by
blood leaking into tissues under the skin.
Meningococci are spread through coughing, sneezing and intimate kissing approximately 10% of the
general population carry meningococcal bacteria harmlessly in the back of their throats at any one time.
This natural carriage is, therefore, relatively common and helps develop immunity.
Only a minority of carried meningococci are harmful. Infection is caused when the bacteria, for reasons
that are not currently understood, move from the back of the throat into the bloodstream and multiply
rapidly. Once in the bloodstream, these bacteria can cause septicaemia and, in many cases, infect the
meninges and cause

When necessary, care homes or hospitals are required to ask a local authority if they can deprive a person

The Importance Of Technology In Modern Society
In our present world, we are faced with the double edged sword of having instantaneous access to all
information at our fingertips. However, it seems as though this easy access to information comes at the
cost of the morality of the community. This ethical degradation of modern society is permeated through
our overindulgence with technology, the manner in which we treat others, and mainstream music.
A way in which the demoralization of society is shown through our overindulgence with technology.

Ultimately, the reliance on technology only leads to the detachment of people from those around them
leaving everyone in isolation.
Furthermore, the manner in which people are treated is a crucial sign of the immorality of our current
world. People have begun to lose respect for each other, especially over the Internet. This disregard for
others stems from the anonymity on the Internet which gives people the liberty to say whatever cruel
thing is on their mind because of their shield that is their computer screen. The ability to hide behind one
s keyboard is such a major contributor to cyberbullying as people don t get to physically see the impacts
of their words. If a person says awful things to a stranger on the Internet, they will likely never meet the
person to know how their comment made them feel. Through the rise of social media, the current
generation has lost the empathy that would make them wary of what they do or say to avoid inflicting
pain on others. A situation that can come out of this lack of concern for others is one like Amanda Todd, a
young girl who committed suicide as a result of the hurtful things said to her by her peers over social
media. Occurrences like these should serve as reminders to us all that despite the conversation happening
between screens, there is a person, a human, with value and worth behind that screen reading your

In chronic inflammatory and granulomatous conditions, macrophage dysfunction plays a central role in
progression and maintenance of disease like in case of rheumatoid arthritis where persistent antigen
stimulation leads to accumulation of macrophages in the inflamed synovial membrane and at the cartilage
pannus junction [2]. This is evident by elevated levels of macrophage derived pro inflammatory cytokines
such as TNF α, IL 1β, IL 6 and inflammatory mediators such as COX 2 which has a key role in the
maintenance of inflammation by regulating the levels of prostaglandins [3, 4].
Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and glucocorticoids supplemented with biologics are
the conventional drug options for the treatment of chronic inflammation [5]. In contrast to their efficiency
in improving disease conditions, chronic and long term use of these drugs may lead to serious adverse
effects such as gastric ulceration, bleeding and emergence of opportunistic infection due to
immunosupression. In US, more than 16,000 deaths per year have been reported due to gastric ulcers and
gastrointestinal bleeding associated with prolonged use of NSAIDs in arthritic patients [6]. Due to high
cost and adverse events associated with conventional treatment, more than 70% of patients with
rheumatoid arthritis rely on complementary and alternative medicine with or without conventional
medicine [7].

The purpose of this essay is to examine the controversial topic of the white cube and how the artists try to

conception of the exhibition where the Salon Model was predominant. Nevertheless it starts to be clear
that this model is not perfect: directly connected with the business of the art and the art institution,

Bohemian Rhapsody Analysis
With its evolving and unique sound, Bohemian Rhapsody by the British band Queen may be one of the
strangest, most inspired and least understood songs in the history of rock. Released on October 31, 1975
in the album A Night at the Opera, Bohemian Rhapsody became very popular, staying at the top of the
UK Singles Chart for nine weeks and by the end of January, had more than a million copies sold. Freddie
Mercury, the sole writer of this song, never disclaimed the song s official meaning, but Brian May, the
lead guitarist of the band, believes it is about his struggles in life and how he tried to get past society s
standards, for the lyrics progress through the central character s understanding of the situations portrayed
in the song. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The song becomes operatic, almost as if to show the importance of the situation at hand. The character
begins to plead with lyrics I m just a poor boy, nobody loves me, He s just a poor boy from a poor family,
Spare him his life from this monstrosity, Easy come easy go will you let me go. However, those who are
holding the judgement express no mercy, for then they respond with Bismillah! No we will not let you go
. The seriousness of the condition at hand is also shown by the stern choir of voices striking the character
with judgement.
The song then transitions to a hard rock sound, with the drums and guitar unleashing powerful rhythms.
This sound perfectly matches the character s reaction to their judgers, which anger and defiance. This can
be seen from the lyrics So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye, So you think you can love me
and leave me to die, Oh baby, can t do this to me baby, Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here .
However, this doesn t last long, for after a short powerful guitar riff, the song shifts to a down tempo
ballad. This leads to the character feeling resignation and complacency with the lyrics Nothing really
matters, anyone can see, nothing really matters...to me . Then the song fades out with the character saying
Any way the wind blows , as if they are accepting whatever challenge they had before.

The tourism industry has grown exponentially over the previous twenty years, it is now a worldwide
industry, both in terms of tourists and host destinations, and is no longer confined to the developed

leaders have long been recognising the huge economic advantages that a booming tourism industry can
bring to their nations, and vast amounts of money have been invested set up the infrastructure to support
such an industry. However, aside from the large economic advantages to the industry, there are inevitably

It is widely believed that this continuing construction work around the coastal areas is the biggest
problem in terms of coral destruction; Nipon Pongsuwan of the Phuket Marine Biological Centre backs
this argument up by saying sludge and debris washed into the sea from building work across the island
was the main factor responsible for the reef destruction (cited in CDDN, 2004). The sludge and sediment
deposited in the water contributes the ruin of the reef by blocking out the sun s rays to the bottom of the
sea, and preventing the algae from photosynthesising which in turn leads to the bleaching of the coral.
Thailand s coastline, in particular around the low lying river estuaries, is primarily made up of mangrove
forests. Over the previous year s Thailand has seen a major decrease in its mangrove land. This can be
attributed to several things; tourism being one of them (Poonnachit Korsieporn, 2000). Where coastal
land is in high demand, many of the mangrove trees are ripped out to create the space for building hotels
and tourist complexes. Mangrove forests are a major world ecosystem in themselves that provide a home
to many species of animal; such as shrimp and different varieties of ape, so obviously the declining
mangrove forests alone are a negative environmental impact of tourism. However, this deforestation also
creates issues for the coral reefs. Mangroves act as natural barrier to the sea; they prevent the erosion of
the coast and stop

King Philip II Of Spain
I believe that King Philip II of Spain was a great King and the idea of The Spanish Armada was a good
idea that he had come up with. The Spanish Armada is about a boat that set sail in July 1588 by the
Spanish, and it was ordered by the catholic King Philip II of Spain to invade England and take down the
protestant Queen Elizabeth I. Queen Elizabeth I, was catholic but then became protestant. The Church did
not like her decision and they wanted her to become catholic again, so the Pope encouraged King Philip
II of Spain if he could try to make England catholic again. King Philip agreed to do what the Pope had
asked of him. For years, Philip was in need of a Queen and since Elizabeth was not wed, he proposed to
Elizabeth over and over again, but Elizabeth wanted to make all the decisions and Elizabeth did not nor
did she ever get married, the main reason was because she did not want a man to tell her what to do, she
did not want to marry someone who was in need of a Queen, but for someone who truly loves her for her.
I do not want a husband who honours me as a queen, if he does not love me as a woman. So she declined
all of Philip s marriage proposals. Philip s task for the Spanish Armada was to overthrow protestant
England lead by their protestant Queen, Elizabeth I. Philip s plan for the Spanish Armada was to swing
the fleet by the Netherlands, pick up his army there, and transport them across the English Channel for a
ground invasion.

  • 2. The Nuclear Of The Atomic Bomb The atomic bomb was developed in an effort to counter proposed technologies by the Nazis in Germany, who were trying to develop superweapons in their effort to conquer Europe. Top physicists like Albert Einstein warned that nuclear reaction would release enough energy to level an entire city. By mid 1945, U.S. military leaders were presented with a few options regarding how they should approach the end of the war with Japan. Solutions included mounting a joint invasion with the Soviets, creating a naval blockade, allowing the Japanese to retain their emperor if they surrendered unconditionally and created a cease fire, and dropping the atomic bomb. However, they needed to take into account many variables that would affect their decision. The U.S. should have dropped the bomb to impress the Soviets, to prevent the need for a possible land invasion, and to end the war sooner; therefore, the U.S. s use of the atomic bomb only served to heighten the Cold War between the Soviets and U.S. Truman believed that he could intimidate the Soviet Union with his atomic weapon. He believed that I have an ace in the hole and another one showing so unless he has threes or two pair (and I know he has not) we are sitting all right (Truman Library). The ace that Truman is talking about is the atomic bomb, and when he says that we are sitting all right , Truman means that a Soviet atomic bomb, or something worse, would be disastrous to world politics, as Truman planned to use the atomic ... • 3. Autobiography Of A Descriptive Baseball Player I move to the edge of my seat, the ridges in the aluminum bleachers are very uncomfortable. I feel the sun shining on my face. The cool northern breeze brushes across my cheeks and through my hair. The player s bright white uniforms with royal blue lettering stand out against the green grass. The knees of the player s pants stained with brown from the dirt, breaking up the white simplicity of the bottom half of the uniform. The pitcher winds up, transferring every ounce of energy from his toes, to his fingertips and, into the baseball. Within the blink of an eye the ball has left his hand and entered the catcher s glove. The impact of the ball against the padded leather glove makes a popping sound. Strike one. The fans begin to cheer. The batter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Economics Degree Program Entry Essay The topic of the 2008 financial crisis and its economic implications has been debated extensively in the media. This subject has triggered in me an intellectual curiosity about how such a crisis could spill into the World s overall economy so massively to the point of creating one of the sharper global recessions since the 1929 Great Depression. The little research I have conducted on this topic was a turning point for me as I found myself appreciating economics in ways that I never imagined before. A main appealing feature that I discovered about this discipline is its logical approach to the analysis of optimizing human behavior and societal wellbeing. My acquired passion to Economics was due to my realization that a commanding intellectual capacity in this discipline is so crucial to comprehending the essence of prosperity of societies. Furthermore, I started reading economic articles and books, which made me love economics even more, including The wealth of Nations, by Adam Smith . For this reason, I have decided to pursue a degree in Economics and become a successful professional economist. I believe that I strongly have the personal attributes and academic skills that will allow me to do well in an Economics degree program. In my high school, I was known as a person with a clear sense of logical thinking and problem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have decided to study Economics in the UK, since it is known as the birth place of Economics, specifically Classical Economics (with pioneering work of famous economists including Adam Smith, David Ricardo), and Keynesianism. I cannot think of a country with a stronger tradition in Economics. I believe that studying in a country with this much tradition would be a long life learning experience. What is more, UK universities are constantly ranked highly and offer a multi cultural environment that would incontestably enhance the learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparing The Food And Drug Administration (FDA) And... The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) are government agencies that coordinate with one another to ensure the safety of our nation s food supply. For instance, the FDA is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring safety, effectiveness, quality and security of human/veterinary drugs, vaccines, and medical services. In addition, the FDA is also responsible for all cosmetics and dietary supplements, tobacco and products of radiation. There is a law in place, which has been recently signed by President Obama on January 4, 2001 called the Food Safety Modernization Act. This reformed food safety law is over sighted by the FDA agency to ensure that the U.S. food supply is safe, by focusing on ways to prevent contamination from previously reported ... One of the main techniques used throughout the film is deep focus which usually makes everything that s in the frame of the shot relevant. This deep focus contributes toward the viewing of the film as presence and also representation. For example, one could think of the broad and self conscious use of deep focus...as an attempt to present images that are purely and fully presence, presenting themselves to the view in their fullness without any added meaning or interpretation. The camera rests at a position about eye level with Thatcher and Kane s mom, who are sitting near one another at a table in the frontal area on the right hand side of the shot. Amidst the shot is Kane, who is out of sight but still visible in the background through the window, and on the left hand side is the father, who is standing, trying to declare his power but is unsuccessful at each endeavor. The situating of the characters is intentional, Charles is in the center in light of the fact that he s the focal point of the dialog. The cinematography in this film seems to be taking a look through a window into the life of Charles Kane but never picking up a genuine comprehension of the main chararcter, yet rather a variety of viewpoints. • 14. Definition Of A Neutral Question There is no such thing as a neutral question. Evaluate this statement with reference to two areas of knowledge. In order to evaluate this statement, we must clearly understand what is a neutral question. A definition of a neutral question can be: A question asked in such a way that it does not imply personal opinion or bias. I assume that a true question has to be neutral. If a question reveals to be non neutral, the objectivity that defines a question doesn t exist anymore. It becomes a statement or a judgement with a question make up. To develop the evaluation of this statement, we have to figure out what are the conditions for a question to be neutral. The point of a question is to request knowledge or information; it gives control over the direction taken to fill in the request. One could argue that the initial choice of what question is asked, in itself, is a form of bias and on those grounds, neutrality is impossible any time there is a question. For this reason, it might be good to think of neutrality on a continuum with some questions being more neutral than others. Examples of neutral questions can be identified as: Can you describe the kind of information you would like to find? Or what are you hoping to find? A neutral question can then be defined as a bias free enquiry for knowledge. For my Areas of Knowledge I will be referencing Ethics and Natural sciences. What is neutrality? • 17. Edgar Degas And Western Realism In Hokusai s Impressionism Edgar Degas appears to have never accommodated himself to the name of impressionist, wanting to call himself a realist, independent, or free. Like the impressionists, he looked to catch transient minutes in the stream of present day life, yet he demonstrated little enthusiasm for painting plein air scenes, favoring scenes in theaters and bistros lit up by fake light, which he used to illuminate the forms of his figures, complying to his training. Degas s choice of subject matter mirrors his modern cutting edge approach. He best liked scenes of ballet dancers. His concentration to ballet dancers increased strongly in the late 1800s, and eventually he composed nearly 2,000 works on the area. They address the way the human body moves, investigating the physicality and train of the ballet dancers using distorted stances and abrupt vantage points. Without the Japanese printmaker Hokusai, Impressionism may never have happened. He is a father figure of Western Modernism. In Japan, Hokusai was viewed as crude, underneath the thought of the magnificent literati. In the West, his outline of space with color and line, as opposed to by means of one point perspective, would have a revolutionary effect. Most artist were influenced by his landscapes but Degas, he was influenced by Hokusai s rendering of human forms. You can truly see how he was influence by Hokusai in his bathers artwork. In the wake of Zane s death and the death of another member of the company, Jones (who was also diagnosed as HIV positive) created some of his most powerful works, including Last Supper at Uncle Tom s Cabin/The Promised Land (1990) and Still/Here (1994). Jones has described Last Supper as grounded in his embodied experience of race: I would make a work that articulated all the questions that I have lived with. I would speak in a voice that was decidedly African American. His vision of the work as founded in an exploration of black history was developed and enacted by a multiracial company that included several guest artists, suggesting that the notion of black history is one that is necessarily bound up with other histories and can be located in unlikely archives. The company included Arthur Aviles, Leonard Cruz, Seán Curran, Lawrence Goldhuber, Gregg Hubbard, Heidi Latsky, Betsy McCracken, Maya Saffrin, Andrea Woods, and Jones himself. In 2011 the company merged with Dance Theater Workshop to form New York Live Arts, for which Jones served as executive artistic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Factors Of Juvenile Crime Juvenile crime has been a major issue in the United State, from the beginning and its impact on society. People are trying to find effective ways to stop it. Juvenile crime has many factors that influences the United States and makes people want to stop it. Juvenile crime is an issue that needs to be stopped. Juvenile crime can be a danger to many people. Juvenile crime had a strong uprising when conditions within the society got worse. Research over the past few decades on normal child development and development on delinquent behavior has shown that individual, social, and community conditions and interactions influence behavior(McCord). This says that in bad environments in the community the children that live there are more likely to be an individual with juvenile delinquency. Clearly, genes affect biological development, but there is no biological development without environmental input, Bock and Goode (McCord, 66). This quote says that environmental interaction develops kids, so kids that interact with a bad environment can end up in a worse position than other kids [what other kids? Kids from a good environment? JMH]. The age can influence whether or not a child will be a juvenile delinquent. Studies of criminal activity by age constantly find that rates of offending begin to rise in pre adolescence or early adulthood(McCord). This says that juvenile crime usually starts when the children are teens or entering their puberty years. This can be a big deal because that age is usually when kids are influenced more easily. The percentage of boys who self reported serious delinquent behavior rose from 5 percent at age 6 to about 18 percent at age 16 for whites and 27 percent for blacks at age 16. Loeber (McCord,68). This says that delinquent behavior and crime rose for each race at the age of 16. The family influence also plays a big role for a child if the child is going to be a delinquent or not. When families have difficulties with the task laid on them, the product often is a juvenile delinquent.(McCord) This says that parents with no care in how their child ends up will have their child become a juvenile delinquent. Juvenile crime is affecting the United states because Juvenile crime and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Importance Of Animal Use For Entertainment The third reason that humans use animals is for entertainment. Animal circuses, aquariums, zoos, bullfighting, and dog fighting are examples of using animals for enjoyment. There has always been a conflict whether it is ethical to keep animals in captivity and away from their natural habitat just for fun. Humans started using animals for amusement since the ancient years. Even though the previous generations methods were more deadly and cruel, the same concept of animal use for entertainment is still applied. Kate Good, a famous author and animal activist, states in her article Five Cruel Methods Used to Train Animals That Will Make You Skip the Next Animal Show in No Time: When you stop looking at these attractions as an opportunity for you to see the animals you love, and see them for the profit driven businesses they truly are, the discrepancies between good intentions and cruel action becomes apparent. People visit the entertainment centers because they love animals without knowing why the animals act the way they do. The crowd applauses when an elephant rides a tricycle, when a cat jumps through multiple burning rings, when bears play soccer, or when dolphins draw Christmas trees. Do these animals understand what they are doing? Are they doing what they are doing because they enjoy it? No, evidence has revealed that animals go through a cruel process, also known as PHAJAAN, since their infancies to be trained for these humane activities for the public. ... • 29. Wind In The Willows Analysis The Wind in the Willows describes four close friends and their adventures through the Wild Woods. Kenneth Grahame portrays the characters as animals who depict human behavior. Their journey of friendship is not always easy though. You see how each character grows throughout the novel, but society still makes their final judgment of each individual. The passage I chose to analyze, found on page 157, is a description from the narrator of what life is like for the friends after their adventures that winter. Mole is supposed to be the main character, but Toad s reckless behavior often steals the spotlight. The adventures begin when Mole decides to leave his home and take a walk along the riverbank. There he meets Rat who befriends him and tells him stories of Badger and Toad, which makes Mole curious to meet them. When introduced to Toad, Mole realized how rich he was due to the fact his estate is Toad Hall. Toad convinces the two to take a ride with him in his caravan, but the ride suddenly takes a turn for the worse. They are forced off the road by a speeding automobile, but instead of being angry, Toad is amazed by the vehicle. They worry about Toad s new obsession, but Mole and Rat decide it s time to go home. They meet with Badger and explain how reckless he has become. Concerned about his friend, Badger comes up with a plan to help Toad become more responsible. When this plan fails, soon later Toad is caught and imprisoned for stealing a vehicle. Toad escapes from prison ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cognitive Behavioral Theory Of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Abstract This case conceptualization of Francis discusses the principles of the cognitive behavioral theory that are based on the belief that learning, cognitions, and perceptions play a significant role in the development and maintenance of emotional and behavioral problems. Various CBT models are applied to the diagnostic determinants of Francis dysfunctional behavior and the empirically supported methods of cognitive behavioral treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder are used to build a treatment plan to aid in Francis recovery. Cognitive Behavioral Case Conceptualization of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Presenting Problems Francis, a married, Caucasian male, requested psychological assessment for thoughts that he describes as recurrent, automatic ideations of dangerous occurrences befalling his wife and daughter when he is not present, and therefore, cannot save them. Francis explained that he is fully aware that his family is not in danger, that his thoughts are not based on reality, and he describes these thoughts as silly. He explained that his concerns are temporarily abated when he contacts his wife for confirmation that they are safe. Writing is usually described as a physical way to express thoughts. When a person thinks, each thought is inevitably influenced by some emotion or previous bias that the person has. Since writing at the time it is believed that the emotions and bias would translate into the handwriting in turn the handwriting could, hypothetically, be used to reveal personality traits. Yet, handwriting changes all the time a person can change their handwriting many times during the day. Does this signify the feelings that the person goes through each time the pen is put to paper, or does it show that this belief is a myth due to the fact that the handwriting changes so often? • 32. How Does Meningitis Cause Homeostasis Meningitis occurs when bacteria or viruses invade the bloodstream and infect the meninges. The bacteria or viruses multiply rapidly and cause the meninges to inflame and swell. The brain is subjected to an increase in pressure that can cause symptoms such as a headache and a stiff neck. In the most severe cases, this can cause injury to the brain. Infection can also spread to the inner ear, damaging the hair cells in the cochlea or causing inflammation of the auditory nerve, resulting in sensorineural (or nerve) deafness. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In chronic inflammatory and granulomatous conditions, macrophage dysfunction plays a central role in progression and maintenance of disease like in case of rheumatoid arthritis where persistent antigen stimulation leads to accumulation of macrophages in the inflamed synovial membrane and at the cartilage pannus junction [2]. This is evident by elevated levels of macrophage derived pro inflammatory cytokines such as TNF α, IL 1β, IL 6 and inflammatory mediators such as COX 2 which has a key role in the maintenance of inflammation by regulating the levels of prostaglandins [3, 4]. Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and glucocorticoids supplemented with biologics are the conventional drug options for the treatment of chronic inflammation [5]. In contrast to their efficiency in improving disease conditions, chronic and long term use of these drugs may lead to serious adverse effects such as gastric ulceration, bleeding and emergence of opportunistic infection due to immunosupression. In US, more than 16,000 deaths per year have been reported due to gastric ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding associated with prolonged use of NSAIDs in arthritic patients [6]. Due to high cost and adverse events associated with conventional treatment, more than 70% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis rely on complementary and alternative medicine with or without conventional medicine [7]. Freddie Mercury, the sole writer of this song, never disclaimed the song s official meaning, but Brian May, the lead guitarist of the band, believes it is about his struggles in life and how he tried to get past society s standards, for the lyrics progress through the central character s understanding of the situations portrayed in the song. ... However, those who are holding the judgement express no mercy, for then they respond with Bismillah! No we will not let you go . The seriousness of the condition at hand is also shown by the stern choir of voices striking the character with judgement. The song then transitions to a hard rock sound, with the drums and guitar unleashing powerful rhythms. This sound perfectly matches the character s reaction to their judgers, which anger and defiance. World leaders have long been recognising the huge economic advantages that a booming tourism industry can bring to their nations, and vast amounts of money have been invested set up the infrastructure to support such an industry. It is widely believed that this continuing construction work around the coastal areas is the biggest problem in terms of coral destruction; Nipon Pongsuwan of the Phuket Marine Biological Centre backs this argument up by saying sludge and debris washed into the sea from building work across the island was the main factor responsible for the reef destruction (cited in CDDN, 2004). The sludge and sediment deposited in the water contributes the ruin of the reef by blocking out the sun s rays to the bottom of the sea, and preventing the algae from photosynthesising which in turn leads to the bleaching of the coral. Thailand s coastline, in particular around the low lying river estuaries, is primarily made up of mangrove forests. Over the previous year s Thailand has seen a major decrease in its mangrove land. This can be attributed to several things; tourism being one of them (Poonnachit Korsieporn, 2000). Where coastal land is in high demand, many of the mangrove trees are ripped out to create the space for building hotels and tourist complexes. Mangrove forests are a major world ecosystem in themselves that provide a home to many species of animal; such as shrimp and different varieties of ape, so obviously the declining mangrove forests alone are a negative environmental impact of tourism. However, this deforestation also creates issues for the coral reefs. Mangroves act as natural barrier to the sea; they prevent the erosion of the coast and stop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Spanish Armada is about a boat that set sail in July 1588 by the Spanish, and it was ordered by the catholic King Philip II of Spain to invade England and take down the protestant Queen Elizabeth I. Queen Elizabeth I, was catholic but then became protestant. The Church did not like her decision and they wanted her to become catholic again, so the Pope encouraged King Philip II of Spain if he could try to make England catholic again. King Philip agreed to do what the Pope had asked of him. For years, Philip was in need of a Queen and since Elizabeth was not wed, he proposed to Elizabeth over and over again, but Elizabeth wanted to make all the decisions and Elizabeth did not nor did she ever get married, the main reason was because she did not want a man to tell her what to do, she did not want to marry someone who was in need of a Queen, but for someone who truly loves her for her. I do not want a husband who honours me as a queen, if he does not love me as a woman. So she declined all of Philip s marriage proposals.
