My Consequences Of Crafting
My attention on crafting was it was, though, I almost failed to notice the trio of seven foot tall
dinosaurs skulking through the bush on the right side of the road... Almost. One was closing in
from in front and to the right, behind to the right, and the last almost directly to the right A
pincer with the one in the center to finish me off. Definitely not something a friendly lumbering
herbivore would do. No siree. I glanced left and right, eyeing the six foot fencing on either side
with slack, rusted cables that gave little comfort. And looking up the road I could see two wide
breaks in the fence where the poles were flat out gone. Trampled down most likely. The thing was
as holed as swiss cheese. So it was useless, and then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Almost as one, they fled out of my range with the swarm on their heels. I watched the area they d
left before something clicked. They d communicated. I replayed the last minute in my head as I
walked. The first had called out and... yes, the other had been in retreat as well, but at the call, the
other two changed direction... and it had been the three of them working together, I was certain of
it, like... a pack. So something like the dino equivalent of wolves then? Interesting. Well, interesting
in that they might be telling each other they were retreating. A dinosaurwhatever person would
probably be dancing in glee. They never quite left, though. As I walked they ghosting in and out of
range, lingering at the edge of my awareness until I rebuffed them. Interesting, in a different sense,
but they weren t quite pushing it. Watching how they acted, I almost wanted to say they were
testing how the swarm reacted when they got too close. But that level of pattern recognition...
Communication was one thing, but that was a bit much. Nearing a junction in the road the sock
on my right foot slipped down under my heel, but I ignored it. Instead, I stopped at the fork to
look down both roads, standing on the rail where it crossed with another. Left and right, staying on
the road I was on would lead wherever, but the left was a road that connected with another

The Outreaching Christian Mission in Let the Nations Be...
In the realm of outreaching Christian mission, there is a voice who is talking an intelligible
message. In Let the Nations Be Glad!, John Piper makes a superb showing task of treating a few
significant points identified with missions and the explanation behind missions in today s self
serving, postmodern world. He tackles head on with numerous diverse incorrect musings and
convictions identified with missions and he gives a brief scriptural reply to each of them. In every
one, he explains why missions have either floundered or succeeded. Piper exhibits a perfection in
missions which has the glory of Godas its preeminent, larger purpose.
One of the main aims of Piper is that missionaries are not to become casualties in the battle to ...

I think it might have been exceptional to say God exists and is to be revered I assume that if
God had not made the sky and the earth and the whole celestial host, He might not be pitiful or
dejected. He is self existent and He doesn t need anything. As if expecting negative reactions, on
page 34, Piper makes up for himself in this minor lapse of misstatements by recovering God s
character, He has no deficiencies or needs or defects. He relies totally on himself for all that he
is My major gripe about this book, is that it is longer than it needs to be. Piper has a practice of
taking twice the length he needs to in making a point. Once in a while this is a direct result of his
uncontrolled utilization of proof texting. Different times Piper appears to be so plan intent on
making his point that he marshals utilizes all of proof he can, instead of basically selecting the
best to help his case. It is possible that way, this book could likely be 33% shorter and not miss a
thing.
John Piper has a few quirks that appear in a large portion of his compositions, and in this work
there is no special case. They don t trouble me, however some may not like it (yet generally in case

Disappearance Of Jimmy Hoffa
THE DISAPPEARANCE OF JIMMY HOFFA BY DERRICK PRUETT This essay is to show you
what Jimmy Hoffa s life was like and what may have happened to him on the day that he
disappeared, but first it will inform about his life prior to the disappearance. Hoffa was born in
Brazil, Indiana on February 14, 1913, to Indiana natives John and Viola Hoffa. His father, who
was of Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry, died in 1920 when Hoffa was 7 years old. The family left to
live in Detroit in 1924, where Hoffa grew up and lived out his life. Hoffa left school at age 14
and began working full time manual labor jobs, to help support his family. Hoffa met Josephine
Poszywak, a Detroit laundry worker, at Bowling Green, Ohio on September 24, 1936; during a...

over the years, Hoffa has been declared legally dead and along with many of the suspects or they
have gone to prison. Any convictions for the murder would depend on testimony from an inside
source but none have been found. This is a fact that may prove that any chance of finding out what

How Does Jake Dale s Change In Avatar
In James Cameron s film Avatar, the protagonist, Jake Sully, undergoes a change throughout the
narrative, this being from an apathetic soldier to person who thinks about and cares for the
world around him. Jake is important to us because he allows us to understand the dangers of our
actions. This idea is represented to us through characterisation and dialogue. At the start of the
film Jake Sully arrived on Pandora searching for a purpose in his life. He states early in the movie
saying all I ever wanted was a single thing worth fighting for . This shows that he only accepted the
job because he wanted to experience something new and have something to live for.

Comparing him to when he first arrived not thinking before he acts, putting little thought into

care more for the planet and Na vi he then disesteem towards the way of humans because of their
goal and output on Pandora which is an attempt to destroy the na vis worth. As he trains with
Netaryi, the princess of the omiticaya clan and the trainer and lover towards Jake , he starts to
have more recognition for their world and starts to think and act like them. This is symbolic
because of what he was like at the start and to what he s like now. Dialogue shows an example of
this in the middle of the film during his training to be like the Na vi as he says in english and in

Value Of Studying History Essay
What is the value, if any, of studying history?
It is often claimed that the value of studying history is that it allows us to make decisions and
predictions regarding the present and future based on the mistakes of the past. Indeed, Edmund
Burke stated as early as 1790 that In history, a great volume is unrolled for our instruction, drawing
the materials of future wisdom from the past errors and infirmities of mankind. 1 However, in this
essay I will show that this is not necessarily the case, and will argue instead that the value of
history is that it allows us to frame our present in the context of the past, and therefore better
understand ourselves as a species and as a society. To illustrate this I will be using the examples of
the 2008 financial crisis in relation to the UK housing market, and the current conflict in
Afghanistan in relation to previous wars in that country.
The UK housing market has long been renowned for being intrinsically volatile 2. As seen in the
graph below, since the early 1970s it has experienced four distinct periods of boom and bust which
are marked each time by an increase in consumer credit (blue line M4).3
This graph clearly shows that each ...bust followed an unsustainable credit induced boom. 4
Therefore I would argue that lessons from history have not been learned in this case as the cycle of
boom and bust has been repeated four times already and will most likely continue ad infinitum,
despite numerous economists5 and

The Perspective Of Middle And The Wealthier Classes Of...
From the perspective of middle and the wealthier classes of Americans, the United States society
has a Structural Functional (Macionis, p.12) approach of the current classes social structures that
promotes solidarity and stability. This sociological perspective (Macionis, p.34) holds true for most
of American social classes, except the lower middle classand lower class. These particular classes
can provide evidence of a Social Conflict (Macionis, p.13) perspective of an array of inequality of
social and economic gain. Examples of these inequalities can be displayed in our society through
social, educational, and economic standards. Social injustices are a part of the latent effect of
American culture. This effect is illustrated through social classes determined by wealth. The
monarch system provided a culture that carried through time and transcended in the American
culture. The affluent class in America segregates their social interactions and environments with
barriers physically or ideologically. For example, country clubs or private associations that only
the rich can pay the high monthly dues. These different types of key associations play major roles
in networking and conducting of business deals in America. Another social aspect of the disparity
of social classes affecting the poor is the ideology that people of the lower class is unintelligent,
incapable, indolent of work, and the lack of ambition to improve economic status. One stereotype

Kitty Genovese Essay
Some may say that bystanders are terrible and have no sense of morality and yes, that may true
for some bystanders. The case of Kitty Genovese truly shows how cruel and unthoughtful
bystanders can be, but when we ask the question of why people would ignore someone in a crisis
such as that, we automatically make up rationalizations such as diffusion of responsibility but in
reality that s not the case. The idea of this new law is fantastic, absolutely. In reality, this law is
unrealistic in what its asking of us. Bystanders don t stand by and watch someone in a crisis
because of diffusion of responsibility, they stand by because they see people walk by someone in a

The bystander would have to live with them not helping in the first place and would have that
guilt on their conscious. Now what i m saying is, this law isn t necessary because truly the worst
punishment to give a bystander is the bystander having to live with themselves after they have
done such a thing or actually what he hasn t done. There s a story that i heard recently where a
man, a homeless man saved a woman from being robbed on the streets of New York. This man,
in the process of saving this person, gets stabbed by the robber and the robber and the women
flea on their separate ways. The robber nor the women came back. Pedestrians walked passed this
man time and time again and did nothing until one young man came and turned him over on his
back and after doing that, walked away. Don t you think if you found out a man you attempted to

Emily Dickinson Dashes
Dickinson s main forms of syntactical variation in the poem revolve around her use of dashes and
enjambment. To elaborate, the second stanza of the poem, rife with rhyme, utilizes enjambment to
further emphasize the seemingly endless investigation presented in the poem. The first three lines
of the stanza, I turned my Being round and round / And paused at every pound / To ask the
Owner s name , are devoid of any punctuation until the dash at the end of the third line. This
emphasizes the feeling of disorientation noted in the previous paragraph, especially considering
the rest of the poem is littered with dashes which force Dickinson s readers to slow their reading
with no notice whatsoever. However, the use of dashes in I felt my life

Similarities And Differences Between The Whigs And The...
The period of the second party system begun in the 1820s and continued up to the 1850s when
slavery became the major subject in politics. The era gave birth to the two most popular political
parties in America at the time the Whigs and Jacksonian Democrats (Corbett et al., 2016). The
differences in ideologies between the Whigs and the Jacksonian Democrats helped in making the
US the foundation of democracy in the world. The Jacksonian Democrats had completely opposite

Golden Gate Bridge
The photograph of the Golden Gate Bridge by Joseph B. Strauss, is a unique piece of art from
the pre world war two era. The photograph depicts a gorgeous setting on a beautiful day in San
Francisco, California. The photograph displays a popular, fascinating bridge going across the San
Francisco bay. The picture also portrays a mountainous scenery in the background of the bridge.
The photograph features a lively contrast of colors, along with lines, and space. The only thing is,
why isn t the bridge gold?
Instead of the Golden Gate Bridge being gold, it features a distinct shade of red, along with other
objective colors. As seen in the photograph, shades of brown, green, and blue give the image a
lively contrast of cool and warm colors. The cinnamon colored mountains tones nicely with the
distinct red color of the bridge. As seen in the blue sky, there is a white tint depicted in the hue,
showing the value of the image while portraying a sunny day, due to the amount of light being
reflected. The blue sky s hue of desaturation color dominates less and less. The vivid color of the

Boeing s CDA (Concept Demonstration Aircraft) completely broke the mold with their design,
which was very different to say the least. Their X 32 aircraft s skin was composed of a material
known as a thermoplastic matrix , which was a composite material embedded in an epoxy resin.
When heated, this material undergoes a chemical reaction, thus forming a highly rigid component
(Sweetman 64). This composite material would give the designers the ability to re heat and re
shape the wing without having to start over from the beginning. Boeing insisted on using this
kind of material because it provided them a way to cut cost. This kind of philosophy,
accompanied with their lack of experience in building military aircraft, cost them in the end. After
months of demonstrations between both CDA s, it was Lockheed Martin s X 35 that was chosen
due to their lift fan design. The advantage of the lift fan design, when compared to Boeing s
vectored thrust approach, was that it provided more excess power (F 35 Lightning II). With the 126
month, $13 billion contract in hand, the clock was now running for Lockheed Martin to begin
production on the aircraft (Sweetman 95). Pete Aldridge, the Pentagon s Acquisition Chief, made

The State Of California Is Eliminating Mandatory Minimums...
No More Minimums
Zach Fulk
Sociology 4611
Professor Bellair Introduction
States throughout the country, including Ohio, have began a massive and struggling goal to
decrease the prison population for many very vital reasons. To decrease the population it takes
many conjoining and as a whole, teamwork to get laws passed that will allow inmates to serve a
shorter or even no time in prison. The best and most effective way to lower the prison population
is a collaborate effort and look into every effect that causes people to enter prison and remain in
prison for an extended period of time. To eliminate the Ohio prison population by 20% over the
next two years that requires a deduction from roughly 51,000 inmates to 40,800 inmates. This is a
drastic reduction and is relatable to what the state of California is experiencing today. The method
that I want to look into to reduce the population throughout Ohio s prisons is eliminating mandatory
minimums and creating more successful programs to prevent recidivism. These programs to
eliminate and also reduce the number of prisoners are nothing new and something that will take
every bit of the two years allotted.
With eliminating mandatory minimums it will shorten and even eliminate those who have
committed nonviolent crimes from spending an unnecessary length of time in prisons. Many
experts and people involved with the criminal justice system have looked into and tried to do away
with the outdated laws passed to keep those who have

Purpose Statement This proposal considers the necessity of an online degree program for
Colorado Generic University. The proposal will address the components and costs associated with

comprehensive model to follow in this recommended action plan.
Needs Analysis Student demographics and needs have changed dramatically. An increasing number
of students attending universities today are working adults who desire a flexible and timely degree
program. In order to best serve our students, Colorado Generic University needs to address the

The Robust Learning Model (RLM) is comprehensive enough to apply to any degree program and
takes into consideration every possible need in developing an online program. The RLM focuses
both on the student and on effectiveness for the university. RLM also addresses the information
technology component which is vital to the online program. The RLM is so comprehensive that
providing every detail covered by the RLM is impossible in this proposal, but as we proceed on in
developing the program the comprehensiveness of the model will be evident. So encompassing is
this model that it is possible to apply this model to any program or course of interest because it
addresses components that are universal. These components can further be adjusted to match
university standards and degree level. Student and faulty engagement and interaction are
encouraged through threaded discussions. Faculty members are able to extend further avenues for
learning and discussions by sharing in these threaded discussions clearing up any misconceptions
and promoting further discussion. Consistency is the key in this model, which is why it can be
applied to any program. Students and faculty will continue to communicate through a secure
platform where students can submit assignments and faculty are then able to grade and respond to
students individually. Additionally, students can assess faulty and course curriculum, as well as
provide peer to peer engagement, all of which are

possibly on more than one occasion. As Ghandi said, An eye for an eye makes the whole world

We must follow the admonition of Paul;
There are two scriptures that define what his admonition is. The first is 1 Corinthians 13:4, 7, 4
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity caunteth not itself, is not puffed up...
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
The second is found in Philippians 4:8, it reads, Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are try,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue , and if there be any

The Importance Of Crosswalks
Every day Public Administration #3 The observed activity was crosswalks. Crosswalks enable
pedestrians to cross busy and hazardous roadways more safely. Prior to the advent of crosswalks
pedestrians would cross the street anywhere and were at risk of injury even by horse powered
vehicles. This is important to Public Administrationas it is a safety concern for the public. This paper
will discuss the use, funding, government and citizen involvement, and how the chosen topic of
crosswalks are related to Public Administration.

whom I interviewed about pedestrian safety and Public Administration, but they are carried out and
put into place on a city level. Locally the Orange County Traffic and Transportation Department is
the one in charge of these and many other regulations. The current head is Hazem El Assar Chief
Engineer.
Citizen Involvement Citizens have several ways to get involved. Meeting are open to the public at
both the level of the Florida legislature and meetings held by the Orange County Planning and
Zoning Commission. Meetings by the Planning and Zoning Commission are televised as well
according to Dr. Torres. Currently no meetings are planned for the rest of this year.
Any Citizen has access to crosswalks and any citizen can submit a request or review for safety. All
citizens have a right to safety. Pedestrians are merely people traveling without a road based vehicle.
Any person who would choose to become a pedestrian would very likely be using this service if
they are abiding by the law. Therefore, this service affects everyone and can be used by anyone.
Funding
The construction and up keep of crosswalks is paid for by taxes as many forms of Public
Administration are. The two forms of taxes that pay for this service are sales taxes and Gasoline

Biomedical Research Ethics
Research ethics provides guidelines for the conduction of biomedical research. In addition, It
educates and monitors scientists conducting research to ensure a high ethical standard is
implemented. Hospitals in the United States now are required to have ethic committee. Ethic
committee have expanded their functions and become more comprehensive ethic programs
(Pearlman, 2013). Ethic committees select members to help resolve ethical conflicts and answer
ethical questions through the provision of consultations. Most ethic committees functions are to

It was noted that many ethical issues may arise, relating to eligibility and criteria in identifying the
subjects to be used for testing. It was also noted that laws and regulations were formulated based on
unethical principles that took place in the past. The most obvious ones were the Tuskegee syphilis
study, where the black male were used for the experiment. This study comprised of 600 African
American men, about 400 with syphilis cases and 200 men without syphilis, in other words, the
control group. And many of them died due to the study. It was discovered that none of them were
informed about the possible cure, neither were they treated with antibiotic (http:/
/phrp.nihtraining.com). Also, another unethical research practice conducted was the Nazi Medical
War Crime, in this experiment, thousands of prisoners were tortured by injecting them with
gasoline and live viruses, immersing them in ice water and forcing them to ingest poisons. Based
on the information gathered from the reading, I have realized that before an individual become part
of a research study, there has to be an informed consent. Informed consent promotes autonomy,
which brings about respect for the person s dignity. Therefore, in order to protect the participants in
research, the ethical principles have to be followed. Such

Public Sector Reform Around The World
In recent times, there has been a new proclivity towards public sector reform around the world
primarily driven by citizens, who are placing new demands on their governments for quality,
efficiency, accountability, transparency and better service delivery. Today, globally, the success of
any government is increasingly benchmarked based on social inclusion and citizens participation in
governance.
Advances in recent years have created an unprecedented case for change in the ways in which
public services work. There is a greater focus on effectiveness, efficiency and accountability and
far more demanding citizens who expect an increasingly high level of service delivery, comparable
to what they get from the private sector. At the same time, in a climate of budgetary pressures and,
in the drive for greater efficiency, government organizations are expected to do more for less.
Traditional government, originally built on principles of the industrial society is no longer able to
face all the complex demands and problems of the information society, with the trends towards
decentralisation and intertwining activities [8].
On the other hand, basic values, such as integrity, legitimacy and accountability remain important.
Governments are expected to adhere to core values, such as protection of civil and political rights,
equal opportunities and equal treatment for all [35]. The principles of good governance [36]
openness, participation, accountability, effectiveness and

Crime And Punishment Throughout New France s Legal System...
Crime and punishment in Wendake communities and in New France was completely different, as
the Wendat people based their legal system on reparations and preserving the community while
New France s legal system was based on religion and terror. According to records kept by French
Catholic missionaries, the Wendat legal system emphasized compensation for crimes and
prioritized social cohesion as opposed to individual punishment. For example, when someone was
murdered, the family of the perpetrator arranged reparations with the family of the victim. It was a
collective responsibility, so the entire family of the murderer was expected to pay for the crime.
Accompanying the compensation was a public ceremony meant to heal the wounds of the victim s
family. Unlike contemporary European legal systems, there were no judges or individual
punishments. New France, on the other hand, inherited their legal system from France and
therefore did have judges and individual punishment. Although both systems attempted to create
social order through law, their methods of doing so were different. While Wendat law focused on
preserving the community and healing together, the New France legal system was based on the
idea of terror as a deterrent to crime. Individual punishments were meant to terrorize the public and
impress upon them the consequences of deviance. For example, convicted murderers were
publically hanged and had their corpses displayed on gibbets. Criminals with lesser charges were

Advantages Of Commuting
Many people must or choose to commute to school on a weekly basis for a variety of reasons.
Before the school year begins, students must make the choice of whether or not they want to live
on campus or commute. Commuting does not necessarily have to do with going to school, but
commuting is commonly seen for going to school or work. I had to decide whether or not to
commute before my Fall semester started, and picking was a tough choice because I live quite far
from the college campus; however, I chose to commute for various reasons and it was the right
decision. People who commute far distances, usually complain about the annoyances that come
with commuting, and some of these people will choose to move closer even though they were
originally at driving distance; however, most people who commute chose to continue commuting
for as long as possible anyways. Dorming and living on campus is much more convenient, but
commuting to college, if possible, is much better since commuting is cheaper, anyone can do it,
family reasons, and of course much more comfortable. Commuting may be tough in the morning
since a commuter must wake up, and begin traveling early, but at the end of the year a commuter
would save much more money. Most people choose to commute because of money and Free
housing, food and laundry. Living at home means you save a lot of money, which can help you
down the line when you want to move out on your own (Callahan, Confessions of a College
Commuter.). Callahan

Little Women By Louisa Alcott
Little Women by Louisa Alcott
Little Women can be viewed as a classic book or girl s book. It was written after the Civil War
after the author received endless demand from the young female readers. Initially they were
published as two books where Chapters 1 to 23 where issues back in 1868 under Little Women
title, however, after becoming a highly sensational success, Chapters 24 to 47 were published in
1869 under the title Good Wives Louisa (1869). Louisa May Alcotts personal life is demonstrated
in the first book hence acting as a form of semiautobiographical where it largely reflects on the
experiences as she grows up with her sisters in New England. She was born in Germantown,
Pennsylvania on November 29, 1832 (Reisen). Thus, the book reflects her personal live with the
authors demand on the need to know whether who of the sister married forcing her to add the
book. The second book illustrated how Jo married Laurie with Alcott herself remaining
unmarried all her life hence forcing her to write the sequel by departing from the autobiography
by writing may feel straight up fiction. However, without her personal experiences the other part
of the novel may feel less realistic. Little Women has been largely popular since the initial
publication for over 140 years where it largely appealed to readers young and old, male and female
(Myerson). This was based on the major trend of the novel as based on the lifelong lovers who are
female. The novel has been transformed into

Elton John Stereotypes
A big fruity pie that just simply doesn t bake. Is this how we describe one of the greatest albums
of all time, from one of the greatest musicians of all time? Has this only been said because he s
gay, or because he doesn t conform to his gender stereotype? Nevertheless before we come to our
own conclusions we must first get to know the man.
Born 25 3 1947 Reginald Kenneth Dwight, or more commonly known as Sir Elton John, became
somewhat of a child prodigy after he began playing the piano at the young age of four, he could
play any melody he heard by ear. After winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy Of Musicat
age 11, Elton studied for six years but dropped out just shy of graduation to try his luck with a
rock career. At age 14 Elton formed his first band known as the Corvettes, which later reformed
into Bluesology. Taking the stage at the Northwood Hills Hotel Friday s to Sunday s playing Jim

How Does Hollywood Reflect American Society
Hollywood is a phenomenon that truly works to express the society of the United States.
Through the study of film, one can see the many ways that Hollywood works to not only echo
the sentiments of the culture but shape the ideas and mindsets of those who watch the films.
After 1940, Hollywood has appeared to reflect American society far more than it has shaped it.
The films that appear during times of war and political strife seem to hit a different note after the
United States joined the Second World War. Suddenly, the messages within the movies were less
about how important it was to support the war cause and more about the ideologies of the war
frequently finding new and amusing ways to show the bad guy. However, after America won the

In the 1960 s, America had another war to worry about. However, this war more than any other
echoed the popular sentiment rather than attempted to show America as the good guy. No, these
films were truly as anti war as the people who demanded them. Stemming from the 1960 s and
flowing through into modernity, many filmmakers worked to revise and remake old ideas often
producing films such as M*A*S*H and Johnny Got His Gun, which departed from the tradition of
the just American war by representing war as something stupid and inhumane. These films did not
show the glory of war but instead caused the viewer to continue to wonder whether or not
something so senseless could or should be supported. This was because politically, the Vietnam

Throughout her essay, Mairs is consistent with being blunt and sometimes too straightforward in

reality. For example, Mairs appeals to the reader s emotions when she bluntly states I want them
to wince. I want them to see me as a tough customer, causing readers to feel tension towards what
her motives are when using the word cripple to describe herself. The readers know that the word
cripple is politically incorrect and is not polite to say to those with complete loss of the use of
their limbs. When Mairs bluntly mentions that she is aware of what the readers feel when she

As a boy in England, he was caught up in the passion of the Protestant Reformation and when he

Personal Development and Reflective Reasoning in Nursing...

In order to fully understand the personal development and reflective reasoning in relation to your

on the table every night, so they could not think about sending one of their daughters to school
when they desperately need money themselves. Women were simply not given the opportunity to
educate themselves and therefore it was hard for them to pursue any sort of career in America.
With the lack of education for these women, it also took away from any kind of social life they
may have had. It was hard for a young immigrant woman to go out and find a fitting husband
because she was always working to support her family. Many families could not afford to let their
daughters get married because that would mean less income for them. Several fathers only wanted

Francis Bacon s Portrait Of Pope Innocent X
Francis Bacon was an Irish born English artist known for his raw, controversial and emotionally
charged works (Gale, Tate Gallery) often referred to as the enfant terrible of British art (Schama,
7) . Many of his works, including Study After Velazquez s Portrait of Pope Innocent X, are
palimpsest using a variety of different images to create his own original works. Study After
Velazquez s Portrait of Pope Innocent Xis part of the loose series of screaming popes(Sylvester, 40)
of which there are approximately 45 surviving works (Schmied, 17) completed during the 50 s
and early 60 s. The series was not only inspired by Spanish Baroque artist Diego Velazquez s
Portrait of the Pope Innocent X, a painting which Bacon had many copies of but famously avoided
seeing in person (Phaidon) The truth behind Francis Bacon s screaming popes) but also medical
textbooks, works by the German Renaissance painter Matthias GrГјnewald (Schmeid, 53) and the
screaming nurse on the Odessa Steps sequence in Soviet film director Sergei Eisenstein s 1925
silent film Броненосец Потемкин [The Battleship Potemkin] (Peppiatt,
43). In the image we see the Pope Innocent X, a powerful authority figure in the Catholic church.
He is the liaison between the Lord and his son Jesus Christ and earth, he is essentially all powerful
in his own domain, Vatican City and Catholics around the world. He is respected and his position is
something that the Cardinals strive to become. However, Bacon depicts

Persuasive Essay On Adhd
ADHD: The Often Misdiagnosed Disorder What is ADHD? Sirs data base reports that ADHD is
called attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This disorder is a mental illness that causes children
and adults to have trouble staying focused, behavioral issues, and incidences of hyper activity. Till
this day, the cause of attentiondeficit hyperactivitydisorder (ADHD) is still unknown. There is also
a lot of controversy over the topic of ADHD, stating that some believe the mental illness is at the
end of its normal behavior chart, while others believe there are genetically and physiological
reasons for this condition. The controversy centers on how to treat and diagnose ADHD children.
This paper will examine viewpoint one, two and my viewpoint on... Show more content on

For starters, parents and doctors should think about ADHD as early as preschool. Firstly, thinking
about ADHD problems at a very young age can help at children who have trouble keeping friends,
and trouble in school. For example, Perri Klass, journalist for the New York Times, shares that
when first treating a preschooler with ADHD it would be beneficial for them to do behavioral
therapy first, and medication last. Thus, this point proves that medication is necessary, but is not
the first step when treating a child. Secondly, nine percent of American children between the ages
of four and eighteen are affected by ADHD. For instance, Susan Pinker, journalist for the Wall
Street Journal, reports that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is one of the most common and
most misunderstood disease. Therefore, this confirms that some people may have it, and others
may not. Thirdly, do children grow out of ADHD when they are a child? To illustrate, Susan Pinker,
tells that the statement is a myth. The older you get, you are more likely to think about life
consequences rather than when you were a child. Consequently, this information shows that
children with ADHD are proven to make worse life decisions, rather than a normal child. For all
these reasons, medication is necessary to control the

How Did The Olympics And It s Impact On America
The 1992 Olympics was a huge impact on America and the Olympics games. The Dream Team
was a success on proving what a genuine team was. People had concerns that pro basketball
shouldn t be played in the Olympics. Originally amateurs against other college teams played
basketballs in the Olympics. FIBA allowed professional to play in the Olympics outside the U.S.
America was unsure for professionals to play. The Olympic team lost in the Seoul games in1998
and brought home the bronze medal. The NBA wanted to win the Gold medal. It was a priority for
the NBA and the United States. The best players would be put together to come home with the Gold
medal. This was a marketing dream to have the absolute best basketballplayers working together at
the Olympics. On April 7th 1989 was official that professionals would play on the Olympic
basketball team. Soon after the Dream Team was created for the Olympics.... Show more content on

Some of the players had hesitation to be apart of the Olympic history. Some of the players were
excited while some had to think about if they really wanted this. Michael Jordon, 6 6 Guard,
played ninety day of golf in the summer. Jordon originally did not want to be apart of the
Olympic team. He then later was convinced to play since he was one of the best players and this
game is bigger than the NBA finals. He had concerns since we absolutely wanted to play with the
best players around. Magic Johnson, 6 9 Guard, automatically said yes. He wanted to be apart of
the Olympics. He was one of the players to say yes first hoping that the other players would follow
his lead. Larry Bird, 6 9 Forward, felt it was very important that Magic was on the team. He felt this
would be a great ending for both of their

The Environmental Policy Paradox Analysis
In reference to your opening paragraph, the author of the textbook, The Environmental Policy
Paradox, wrote that the problems policy makers and environmentalists face are economic and
political. And this is also similar to what have discussed in class so far in regards to environmental
regulations. Now you made a strong argument that If American business is the engine of growth
that our politicians make it out to be, why can t we find new ways to do things that save money, cut
pollution, and make our companies more competitive, this question can spark a heated debate that
might probably have no end, most especially when you have a country that is governed by,
technically, two party system (Republicans and Democrats). Saying that many Republicans

The Malleable Yet Undying Nature of the Yellow Peril Essay
The Malleable Yet Undying Nature of the Yellow Peril
Racial stereotypes don t die; they don t even fade away. Though Asian Americans today have
achieved model minority status in the eyes of the white majority in America by pulling ourselves
up by our bootstraps through our supposedly quiet, dignified demeanor and gritty, overachieving
work ethic, the terms of the racial discrimination we face remain the same today as they have since
the first Asians began settling en masse in the United States more than a century and a half ago. At
the root of this discrimination is the idea of a YellowPeril, which, in the words of John Dower is
the core imagery of apes, lesser men, primitives, children, madmen, and beings who possessed ...

According to John Dower, the vision of the menace from the East was always more racial rather
than national. It derived not from concern with any one country or people in particular, but from a
vague and ominous sense of the vast, faceless, nameless yellow horde: the rising tide, indeed, of
color. This feeling of impending doom from the East led to the 1917 Immigration Restriction Act
and the National Origins Act of 1924 two acts that prevented nearly all Asian immigrants from
legally entering the United States and prohibited immigrants already in the United States from
attaining citizenship.
The height of a fear of the Yellow Peril happened immediately after Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor
on December 7th, 1941, leading the United States to enter into the Pacific War. Popular imagery of
the time, particularly through political cartoons (some done even by our beloved Dr. Seuss)
debased the Japanese as subhuman apes and gorillas, treacherous in nature and though morally
corrupt and mentally and physically lesser to the Americans, possessing in superhuman endurance,

Criminal Behavior Theory Paper
Moffitt s theory of interaction hypothesis supports the study of The Contribution of Family
Adversity and Verbal IQ Behavior to Criminal Behavior. The theory which Moffitt explains is that
in a small group of offenders, they will show criminal behaviors early on in life. This is due to
many factors which will affect them during their development can cause constant criminal offenses.
Two factors that will affect these individuals are neuropsychological deficiencies and
disadvantaged environments and/or family adversity. Neuropsychological problems are a great
effect of a constant criminal behavior for an individual due to the impact on what would be a
normal development. These problems are defined by the Verbal IQ of an individual concerning the

Living with a family adversity can vary in different situations. Most are in accordance of
temporal deficiencies which are people born into an adverse family. These families will be
unsupportive because they fall into one or multiple independent variables such as the
socioeconomic status, single parent, the age of the mother at birth, and multiple family
transitions. Children who are in multiple factors such as the age of the mother and single parent
will more than likely have less attention given and encounter bad behavior from the parent
because they do not have the role model or parenting skills. In these two variables, the parents or
parent will need to take responsibility to provide for their family in which they will not finish
high school and have a low socioeconomic status increasing the likelihood of criminal behavior
for the offspring. The research shows that boys from broken homes of separated parents can have
a criminal offense up to the age 33. Another finding shows that living in a single parent home will
show that by the age 21 they will have a conviction or at least a caution

The major trends that are restructuring and characterising the textile and clothing sector are as
follows: The European textile and clothing industry is characterised by fragmented production with
a large number of small and medium sized companies mainly located in Italy, Great Britain, France,
Germany and Spain (Nordas, 2004), while distribution channels are highly concentrated (Stengg,
2001). Increasing internationalisation in the textile and apparel sector and the emergence of
international competitors (CerviГ±o, 1998). Consolidation of the sector through mergers,
acquisitions and strategic alliances (Dunford, 2004). Sub contracting or delocalisation of textile and
clothing production to countries with lower labour and transportation costs and reduced lead time
(Berkeley and Steuer, 2000). Re evaluation of the business models to adapt to the customersВґ
changing taste (KPMG, 2005). Fashion companies are becoming more flexible and vertically
organised, limited vertical integration being more frequent than complete integration (Samiee,
1995). Adoption of new technology to expand productivity and increase competitiveness (Berkeley
and Steuer, 2000). Democratisation of the fashion sector over the last decades (Mazaira, et al.,
2003). Zara has contributed greatly to this shift by offering the latest design at attractive prices.

The Problem Of Stereotyping
In today s world there are many problems, that individuals have to deal with, one of these many
problems is stereotyping. Stereotyping is an exaggerated statement or portrayal of a group of
people, which does cause people to view a race or person of the different sex differently, the
remarks made may be very offensive to the group of people. When it comes to stereotyping
between races, one racemight even try to feel superior by putting another down, these portrayals
and mis conceptions may hurt others and cause a feeling of hatred towards one another. People are
different and many have flaws but not everyone should be blamed for one thing. If one person of
another race commits a crime then the whole race has committed that specific crime,

Relationship Between Insulin And Leptin
Plasma leptin concentration has been increased due to high tail fat diet. Leptin is secreted by
adipocytes that is implicated in nutrition and cognition (Morrison 2009). Hyperleptinemia is
induced by obesity and aging which is associated with dysregulation in leptin signaling; moreover,
leptin signaling is affected by diet manipulation. Low affinity leptin to its receptor (Ob Rb) and
inability of upregulation Ob Rb proportional to leptin concentration was developed by high fat diet
(Mitchell et al. 2009). Also high fat diet decreased leptin receptors in cerebellum (Koros et al.
2009). Insulinand leptin are signally interrelated as insulin resistancefrequently associated with
leptin resistance in high fat diet ingestion and obesity. There is a positive relationship between
insulin and leptin concentration and oxidative stress (MDA concentration) in plasma of
overweight and obese persons (Shaimaa Essa et al. 2016). Brain oxidative stress progress insulin
and leptin resistance in endogenously generated oxidative stress model (Yagishita et al. 2017). NO
is a downstream signal of leptin and leptin inhibiting nitric oxide synthase activity (Calapai et al.
1999; Mehebik Mojaat et al. 2009).

Theme Chart Analysis
Using the Grounds Theory approach our group determined and analyzed the common themes on
social media surrounding the Toms Shoes brand. We created a Theme chart and a sub theme chart
from the largest theme. These charts can be seen below. The top three themes were 1) Social
Justice, which was mainly comprised of soundbites focused on the Toms One For One motto and
their positive impact on those less fortunate 2) Style, which was largely focused on the look of the
shoes and 3) what we named Purchase/ want, this category was comprised of soundbites in which
people were talking about a purchase they had just made or stating that they really wanted to

Then we set the custom date range from April 10th, 2012 to June 15th, 2012. There were 621
mentions. People mentioned One Day Without Shoes mostly on the event date and then it began
to decrease and stopped within a week. There were 88% positive and 12% negative comments.
Some people thought it was nasty and gross to go without shoes in crowded or public areas, but
the majority thought that it supported a good cause and were willing as well as excited to join the
campaign. Many people shared their good experience of being barefoot on that day, which is what
we expected. However, similar to the analysis of the pre event date, the number of mentions quite
still pretty small. Most of the stream came from twitter.
We recommend Toms improve their campaign. Not entirely change the campaign but make a
minor change in order to make it more exciting and so that it is not exactly the same every year.
We think that this will help boost participation and therefore awareness of the brands mission.
One way Toms could accomplish this is by arranging a video competition, which would ask
people to make their own video doing their daily activities barefoot. They would then be asked to
post the videos on Toms Facebook. Whomevers video got the most likes would win a reward or
prize. Perhaps even a trip to one of the countries where Toms gives there shoes away so that the
dedicated customer could help deliver the shoes and experience first hand how impactful

My Consequences Of Crafting My attention on crafting was it was, though, I almost failed to notice the trio of seven foot tall dinosaurs skulking through the bush on the right side of the road... Almost. One was closing in from in front and to the right, behind to the right, and the last almost directly to the right A pincer with the one in the center to finish me off. Definitely not something a friendly lumbering herbivore would do. No siree. I glanced left and right, eyeing the six foot fencing on either side with slack, rusted cables that gave little comfort. And looking up the road I could see two wide breaks in the fence where the poles were flat out gone. Trampled down most likely. The thing was as holed as swiss cheese. So it was useless, and then... So something like the dino equivalent of wolves then? Interesting. Well, interesting in that they might be telling each other they were retreating. A dinosaurwhatever person would probably be dancing in glee. They never quite left, though. As I walked they ghosting in and out of range, lingering at the edge of my awareness until I rebuffed them. Interesting, in a different sense, but they weren t quite pushing it. Watching how they acted, I almost wanted to say they were testing how the swarm reacted when they got too close. But that level of pattern recognition... Communication was one thing, but that was a bit much. Nearing a junction in the road the sock on my right foot slipped down under my heel, but I ignored it. Instead, I stopped at the fork to look down both roads, standing on the rail where it crossed with another. In Let the Nations Be Glad!, John Piper makes a superb showing task of treating a few significant points identified with missions and the explanation behind missions in today s self serving, postmodern world. He tackles head on with numerous diverse incorrect musings and convictions identified with missions and he gives a brief scriptural reply to each of them. In every one, he explains why missions have either floundered or succeeded. Piper exhibits a perfection in missions which has the glory of Godas its preeminent, larger purpose. As if expecting negative reactions, on page 34, Piper makes up for himself in this minor lapse of misstatements by recovering God s character, He has no deficiencies or needs or defects. He relies totally on himself for all that he is My major gripe about this book, is that it is longer than it needs to be. Piper has a practice of taking twice the length he needs to in making a point. Once in a while this is a direct result of his uncontrolled utilization of proof texting. Different times Piper appears to be so plan intent on making his point that he marshals utilizes all of proof he can, instead of basically selecting the best to help his case. It is possible that way, this book could likely be 33% shorter and not miss a thing. John Piper has a few quirks that appear in a large portion of his compositions, and in this work there is no special case. They don t trouble me, however some may not like it (yet generally in case you re as of now inclined to aversion some of his works). Disappearance Of Jimmy Hoffa THE DISAPPEARANCE OF JIMMY HOFFA BY DERRICK PRUETT This essay is to show you what Jimmy Hoffa s life was like and what may have happened to him on the day that he disappeared, but first it will inform about his life prior to the disappearance. Hoffa was born in Brazil, Indiana on February 14, 1913, to Indiana natives John and Viola Hoffa. His father, who was of Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry, died in 1920 when Hoffa was 7 years old. The family left to live in Detroit in 1924, where Hoffa grew up and lived out his life. Hoffa left school at age 14 and began working full time manual labor jobs, to help support his family. Despite this, over the years, Hoffa has been declared legally dead and along with many of the suspects or they have gone to prison. Any convictions for the murder would depend on testimony from an inside source but none have been found. This is a fact that may prove that any chance of finding out what happened is gone. How Does Jake Dale s Change In Avatar In James Cameron s film Avatar, the protagonist, Jake Sully, undergoes a change throughout the narrative, this being from an apathetic soldier to person who thinks about and cares for the world around him. Jake is important to us because he allows us to understand the dangers of our actions. This idea is represented to us through characterisation and dialogue. At the start of the film Jake Sully arrived on Pandora searching for a purpose in his life. He states early in the movie saying all I ever wanted was a single thing worth fighting for . • 8. Value Of Studying History Essay What is the value, if any, of studying history? It is often claimed that the value of studying history is that it allows us to make decisions and predictions regarding the present and future based on the mistakes of the past. Indeed, Edmund Burke stated as early as 1790 that In history, a great volume is unrolled for our instruction, drawing the materials of future wisdom from the past errors and infirmities of mankind. 1 However, in this essay I will show that this is not necessarily the case, and will argue instead that the value of history is that it allows us to frame our present in the context of the past, and therefore better understand ourselves as a species and as a society. To illustrate this I will be using the examples of the 2008 financial crisis in relation to the UK housing market, and the current conflict in Afghanistan in relation to previous wars in that country. The UK housing market has long been renowned for being intrinsically volatile 2. As seen in the graph below, since the early 1970s it has experienced four distinct periods of boom and bust which are marked each time by an increase in consumer credit (blue line M4).3 This graph clearly shows that each ...bust followed an unsustainable credit induced boom. 4 Therefore I would argue that lessons from history have not been learned in this case as the cycle of boom and bust has been repeated four times already and will most likely continue ad infinitum, despite numerous economists5 and ... • 9. The Perspective Of Middle And The Wealthier Classes Of... From the perspective of middle and the wealthier classes of Americans, the United States society has a Structural Functional (Macionis, p.12) approach of the current classes social structures that promotes solidarity and stability. This sociological perspective (Macionis, p.34) holds true for most of American social classes, except the lower middle classand lower class. These particular classes can provide evidence of a Social Conflict (Macionis, p.13) perspective of an array of inequality of social and economic gain. Examples of these inequalities can be displayed in our society through social, educational, and economic standards. Social injustices are a part of the latent effect of American culture. This effect is illustrated through social classes determined by wealth. The monarch system provided a culture that carried through time and transcended in the American culture. The affluent class in America segregates their social interactions and environments with barriers physically or ideologically. For example, country clubs or private associations that only the rich can pay the high monthly dues. These different types of key associations play major roles in networking and conducting of business deals in America. Another social aspect of the disparity of social classes affecting the poor is the ideology that people of the lower class is unintelligent, incapable, indolent of work, and the lack of ambition to improve economic status. The case of Kitty Genovese truly shows how cruel and unthoughtful bystanders can be, but when we ask the question of why people would ignore someone in a crisis such as that, we automatically make up rationalizations such as diffusion of responsibility but in reality that s not the case. The idea of this new law is fantastic, absolutely. In reality, this law is unrealistic in what its asking of us. To elaborate, the second stanza of the poem, rife with rhyme, utilizes enjambment to further emphasize the seemingly endless investigation presented in the poem. The first three lines of the stanza, I turned my Being round and round / And paused at every pound / To ask the Owner s name , are devoid of any punctuation until the dash at the end of the third line. This emphasizes the feeling of disorientation noted in the previous paragraph, especially considering the rest of the poem is littered with dashes which force Dickinson s readers to slow their reading with no notice whatsoever. The photograph depicts a gorgeous setting on a beautiful day in San Francisco, California. The photograph displays a popular, fascinating bridge going across the San Francisco bay. The picture also portrays a mountainous scenery in the background of the bridge. The photograph features a lively contrast of colors, along with lines, and space. The only thing is, why isn t the bridge gold? Instead of the Golden Gate Bridge being gold, it features a distinct shade of red, along with other objective colors. The cinnamon colored mountains tones nicely with the distinct red color of the bridge. • 17. F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Essay F 35: The Joint Strike Fighter of the Future Since the beginning of World War I, key military analysts have begun to realize the importance of airpower over the battlefield. It has been said throughout the years that he who controls the air, also controls the battlefield . Though some have disputed this statement, the truth has always been proven to analysts after the war when evaluations can be made. The three branches of military that currently use fighter/bomber aircraft are the Air Force, Navy, and Marines. During the military s vast aviation history, all three branches of service have used separate aircraft. Boeing s CDA (Concept Demonstration Aircraft) completely broke the mold with their design, which was very different to say the least. Their X 32 aircraft s skin was composed of a material known as a thermoplastic matrix , which was a composite material embedded in an epoxy resin. When heated, this material undergoes a chemical reaction, thus forming a highly rigid component (Sweetman 64). This composite material would give the designers the ability to re heat and re shape the wing without having to start over from the beginning. Boeing insisted on using this kind of material because it provided them a way to cut cost. This kind of philosophy, accompanied with their lack of experience in building military aircraft, cost them in the end. After months of demonstrations between both CDA s, it was Lockheed Martin s X 35 that was chosen due to their lift fan design. The advantage of the lift fan design, when compared to Boeing s vectored thrust approach, was that it provided more excess power (F 35 Lightning II). With the 126 month, $13 billion contract in hand, the clock was now running for Lockheed Martin to begin production on the aircraft (Sweetman 95). • 18. The State Of California Is Eliminating Mandatory Minimums... No More Minimums Zach Fulk Sociology 4611 Professor Bellair Introduction States throughout the country, including Ohio, have began a massive and struggling goal to decrease the prison population for many very vital reasons. To decrease the population it takes many conjoining and as a whole, teamwork to get laws passed that will allow inmates to serve a shorter or even no time in prison. The best and most effective way to lower the prison population is a collaborate effort and look into every effect that causes people to enter prison and remain in prison for an extended period of time. To eliminate the Ohio prison population by 20% over the next two years that requires a deduction from roughly 51,000 inmates to 40,800 inmates. This is a drastic reduction and is relatable to what the state of California is experiencing today. The method that I want to look into to reduce the population throughout Ohio s prisons is eliminating mandatory minimums and creating more successful programs to prevent recidivism. These programs to eliminate and also reduce the number of prisoners are nothing new and something that will take every bit of the two years allotted. With eliminating mandatory minimums it will shorten and even eliminate those who have committed nonviolent crimes from spending an unnecessary length of time in prisons. Many experts and people involved with the criminal justice system have looked into and tried to do away with the outdated laws passed to keep those who have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Robust Learning Model (RLM) is comprehensive enough to apply to any degree program and takes into consideration every possible need in developing an online program. The RLM focuses both on the student and on effectiveness for the university. RLM also addresses the information technology component which is vital to the online program. The RLM is so comprehensive that providing every detail covered by the RLM is impossible in this proposal, but as we proceed on in developing the program the comprehensiveness of the model will be evident. So encompassing is this model that it is possible to apply this model to any program or course of interest because it addresses components that are universal. These components can further be adjusted to match university standards and degree level. Student and faulty engagement and interaction are encouraged through threaded discussions. Faculty members are able to extend further avenues for learning and discussions by sharing in these threaded discussions clearing up any misconceptions and promoting further discussion. Consistency is the key in this model, which is why it can be applied to any program. Students and faculty will continue to communicate through a secure platform where students can submit assignments and faculty are then able to grade and respond to students individually. Additionally, students can assess faulty and course curriculum, as well as provide peer to peer engagement, all of which are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Crime And Punishment Throughout New France s Legal System... Crime and punishment in Wendake communities and in New France was completely different, as the Wendat people based their legal system on reparations and preserving the community while New France s legal system was based on religion and terror. According to records kept by French Catholic missionaries, the Wendat legal system emphasized compensation for crimes and prioritized social cohesion as opposed to individual punishment. For example, when someone was murdered, the family of the perpetrator arranged reparations with the family of the victim. It was a collective responsibility, so the entire family of the murderer was expected to pay for the crime. Accompanying the compensation was a public ceremony meant to heal the wounds of the victim s family. Unlike contemporary European legal systems, there were no judges or individual punishments. New France, on the other hand, inherited their legal system from France and therefore did have judges and individual punishment. Although both systems attempted to create social order through law, their methods of doing so were different. While Wendat law focused on preserving the community and healing together, the New France legal system was based on the idea of terror as a deterrent to crime. Individual punishments were meant to terrorize the public and impress upon them the consequences of deviance. For example, convicted murderers were publically hanged and had their corpses displayed on gibbets. Criminals with lesser charges were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had to decide whether or not to commute before my Fall semester started, and picking was a tough choice because I live quite far from the college campus; however, I chose to commute for various reasons and it was the right decision. People who commute far distances, usually complain about the annoyances that come with commuting, and some of these people will choose to move closer even though they were originally at driving distance; however, most people who commute chose to continue commuting for as long as possible anyways. Dorming and living on campus is much more convenient, but commuting to college, if possible, is much better since commuting is cheaper, anyone can do it, family reasons, and of course much more comfortable. Commuting may be tough in the morning since a commuter must wake up, and begin traveling early, but at the end of the year a commuter would save much more money. Maybe reflective practices offer us a way of trying to make sense of the uncertainty in our workplaces and the courage to work competently and ethically at the edge of order and chaos... (Ghaye, 2000, p.7) In order to fully understand the personal development and reflective reasoning in relation to your development in the Nursing field, one will have to define these two terminologies. This play tells us about the case of an anarchist railway worker known as madman who supposedly fell to his death from a Police Headquarter white his interrogation in 1969. Fo himself described the play as a farce, Don t call my play a comedy. There is a misunderstanding of the word. I call it a farce. Others immigrated because they wanted to escape the corrupt political power of their homelands, such as the revolution in Mexico after 1911. Whatever the case, many found it difficult to begin again in a new country. Most immigrants lived in slums with very poor living conditions. Many of his works, including Study After Velazquez s Portrait of Pope Innocent X, are palimpsest using a variety of different images to create his own original works. Study After Velazquez s Portrait of Pope Innocent Xis part of the loose series of screaming popes(Sylvester, 40) of which there are approximately 45 surviving works (Schmied, 17) completed during the 50 s and early 60 s. The series was not only inspired by Spanish Baroque artist Diego Velazquez s Portrait of the Pope Innocent X, a painting which Bacon had many copies of but famously avoided seeing in person (Phaidon) The truth behind Francis Bacon s screaming popes) but also medical textbooks, works by the German Renaissance painter Matthias GrГјnewald (Schmeid, 53) and the screaming nurse on the Odessa Steps sequence in Soviet film director Sergei Eisenstein s 1925 silent film Броненосец Потемкин [The Battleship Potemkin] (Peppiatt, 43). For starters, parents and doctors should think about ADHD as early as preschool. Firstly, thinking about ADHD problems at a very young age can help at children who have trouble keeping friends, and trouble in school. For example, Perri Klass, journalist for the New York Times, shares that when first treating a preschooler with ADHD it would be beneficial for them to do behavioral therapy first, and medication last. Thus, this point proves that medication is necessary, but is not the first step when treating a child. Secondly, nine percent of American children between the ages of four and eighteen are affected by ADHD. For instance, Susan Pinker, journalist for the Wall Street Journal, reports that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is one of the most common and most misunderstood disease. Therefore, this confirms that some people may have it, and others may not. Thirdly, do children grow out of ADHD when they are a child? To illustrate, Susan Pinker, tells that the statement is a myth. The older you get, you are more likely to think about life consequences rather than when you were a child. Consequently, this information shows that children with ADHD are proven to make worse life decisions, rather than a normal child. For all these reasons, medication is necessary to control the ... It derived not from concern with any one country or people in particular, but from a vague and ominous sense of the vast, faceless, nameless yellow horde: the rising tide, indeed, of color. This feeling of impending doom from the East led to the 1917 Immigration Restriction Act and the National Origins Act of 1924 two acts that prevented nearly all Asian immigrants from legally entering the United States and prohibited immigrants already in the United States from attaining citizenship. The height of a fear of the Yellow Peril happened immediately after Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, leading the United States to enter into the Pacific War. Leptin is secreted by adipocytes that is implicated in nutrition and cognition (Morrison 2009). Low affinity leptin to its receptor (Ob Rb) and inability of upregulation Ob Rb proportional to leptin concentration was developed by high fat diet (Mitchell et al. 2009). Also high fat diet decreased leptin receptors in cerebellum (Koros et al. 2009).
