Sharon Bryant Interview Paper
The person who I choose to interview for this paper is my grandmother Sharon Bryant (nГ©e
Kimple), and the main reason I chose to interview her was that I really did not know much about
her life story and wanted to learn more. Currently she is 72 years old, and lives in Vancouver,
Washington with her husband of 52 years Allan Bryant. She has been retired for the past two
years and enjoys spending her free time quilting and sewing, and does not have any major
medical issues aside from a few allergies. Sharon was born March 27th 1943 in Glendale,
California. For the first couple years of her early childhood her motherwas working while her
father was a photographer and a Seabee (construction worker) until the end of World War 2. She
first met her father when she was four years old. Her father struggled with PTSD when he got
back and Sharon described him as intelligent and nice, but could become very mean and angry,
and that she was to be seen but not heard. Sharon is the older of two sisters and spent a lot of time
helping raise them as both her parents owned businesses with her mother owning a catering
company and her father a paint strainer manufacturing business. One of the first major events she
remembers from her childhood was a major car accident when she was in between Kindergarten
and the first grade. She says that before the accident... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to her she would treat her employees like they were her children. A stern but kind
approach to management, something she picked up from raising 4 kids. She also had strong bonds
with her parents, even her father who ended up moving in with her and her family for the last 8
years of his life, putting Sharon into a sandwich generation (Whitborne Whitborne, 2014) where
she is still helping out her kids and now helping our her parents. Her mother in law also ended up
moving in near the end of her life as

Similarities Between The Weary Blues And I Too
In today s society we face a lot of issues, but there is one issue that stands out to me most. Which
these two poems address, that is injustice towards other race in America. In Langston Hughes I Too
and The Weary Blues the trouble of unjust towards African Americans, weigh on the speaker s
mind. Each poem reflecting on the same issue just a little bit differently. In the poem I Too written
in 1945 the overall theme focused by Langston was discrimination towards the African American
people in the United States. We understand that the speaker in the poem is black from the first
line where it states I am the darker brother providing an imagery for the readers. Then in the
poem it says They send me to eat in the kitchen when company comes setting the tone of the
poem, meaning that the speaker is unimportant person or referring him to a slave. The reason so,
is because back in the day s slaves had to eat in the kitchen of white slave owners. The setting of
the first stanza of I Too... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As we move to the second stanza it provides us with a tone where the speakers is hopeful that
one day in the future he ll be important as the people who make him eat in the kitchen. We can
interpret that from Tomorrow I ll be at the table when company comes. Nobody ll dare say to me
eat in the kitchen, then . At the end of the poem the speaker says Besides, they ll see how beautiful
I am and be ashamed implying that the discriminating people will one day find out that everyone
one is equal and be disappointed in their actions. As for the second the poem The Weary Blues the
theme in it is slightly different from I Too, but it has the same meaning. The theme is about how
African American expressed their opinions and communicated throughout music because they were
being discriminated. In the third line of the poem speaker gives us a

Survival of the Marine Corps
SURVIVAL OF THE MARINE CORPS The Marine Corps historical characteristics after the
Civil War could be based in part on survivability and the need for the Marine Corps to prove its
worth to the United States as a Military Force. The Marine Corps part in the Civil War had been
small and not altogether impressive. Both the Army and the Navy did not regard the Marine
Corps as useful. This paper will in effect touch on the Marine Corps history from after the Civil
War to World War I. It will then converge on a discussion with regards to the fight against the
disestablishment of the Marine Corps. (Simmons/Moskin 1998) The Marine Corps found its
mission in the amphibious landings of several countries to protect American lives and... Show more

Many official German reports had called the attacking Marines teufel hunden, meaning Devil
Dogs. These beasts were the ferocious mountain dogs of Bavarian folklore. (Sturkey 2003) Soon
afterward a U.S. Marine Recruiting Poster depicted a snarling English Bulldog wearing a
Marine Corps helmet. Because of the tenacity and demeanor of the breed, the image took root
with both the Marines and the public. The Marines soon unofficially adopted the English
Bulldog as their mascot. (Sturkey 2003) Although the Marine Corps has established itself as a
premier fighting force, there were still rumbles among officials. The original culprits of the war
against the Marines were the senior officers in the US Army. This started immediately after WW
I. During the build up for WW II Army General George C. Marshall was quoted as saying that his
job was to keep the Marine Corps, small, very small. General Dwight D. Eisenhower was quoted as
making similar comments. They were not the only ones. (wanaki@infi.net Online) Both the Army
and Army Air Force were making plans as early as 1943 to gut the Marines. Marine Lieutenant
Colonel Merrill Twining was visiting his brother, Brigadier General Nathan Twining during that
year and he was flabbergasted to learn that the Army officers there were outwardly proclaiming that
they weren t going to allow the Marines to command any Corps sized units. Admirals Halsey and
Nimitz made short shrift

Mental Health Issues Of Vietnam Veterans
Society does not accommodate the needs of Veterans in terms of housing and health services upon
returning to civilian life. Vietnam veterans are infamously known for being homeless and having a
host of mental health issues. Today s veterans have more support systems but the success of those
systems may vary from region to region. In the Puget Soundregion there are many homeless
veterans despite efforts made by communities and municipalities. Issues of access to health care and
inadequate community support intersect to form an underserved group of citizens who served in
the military. Those who serve in the military are the often purported to be the ideal citizens who
dedicate their lives to service. Veterans however are displaced and unable to fit within society
without an array of different services. Veterans have engaged in the duty to kill others for the sake
of the political community in order to secure their living and membership within society (Yuval
Davis, 2012:208). The political community then has a responsibility to provide for the soldiers
when they return to being citizens.
The culture for those who come from the military is highly disciplined and has an emphasis
accomplishing goals for the larger group. Veterans witness a low work ethic and see people
squander away their opportunity creating a difference in the culture between ex military and civilian
populations in daily life (Rodriguez, Ricardo, 2016:Personal Interview). The experience for

Investigating The Internal Controls Of The Business...
Fraud prevention is a concern to both small businesses and large corporations alike. Business
owners place their trust into employees who are hired to perform duties that contribute to the
success of the company. When that trust is broken, or ideally before this occurs, businesses must
look to their internal controls in an effort to limit the opportunity for such malicious behavior. The
purpose of this paper is to define internal controls, explain the purpose it serves in the business
environment, and common internal control measures. Additionally, an example of internal control
from this author s employer will be discussed as well as an incidence of embezzlement found while
researching this topic. Let s first take a look at its definition and some examples. Internal controls,
as defined by Investopedia.com, are methods put in place by a company to ensure the integrity of
financial and accounting information, meet operational and profitability targets, and transmit
management policies throughout the organization. This system works best when applied to
multiple divisions and deal with inter departmental transactions. An example of the latter may be
those occurring between the originating department from where the transaction is originated,
supply management, and accounts payable. These methods can be broken down between a
preventative and a detective category. Preventive controls are just such: those policies and
procedures that prevent an incident from occurring.

Summary Of No Name Woman
The society has changed over the year from the early twenty to nowadays. One time, I read this
article; it said something about how men and women are the same, but still, have some different
qualities. If you really think about it, men are more dominant than women. In the early twenties,
women could not get a job because that was the man s job to provide for the family. When men and
women would get married that would mean they would be together until you die because there was
no such thing as getting divorced. There might be some punishments if a womandoesn t follow
what a women is suppose to do, like if a women is with another man while she is still married. In
the story, No Name Women by Maxine Hong Kingston, it talks about how all the men in the... Show

but at the end there will always be those little things that will remind them of the women. When
the villagers want some water from the well, the well is going to bring back memories of the

when the mother started taking medicine that she started to remember her dead mother, even if the
women didn t want to remember her dead mother. I feel like this ties to the story, No Name

Symbolism In Director Luc Besson s The Fifth Element
Director Luc Besson s 1997 film The Fifth Element is an incredibly imaginative futuristic film
depicting the cycle of good and evil and the human factor involved with the infinite battle. Besson
carefully constructs this film to provide a human feeling to the film, providing emotional gateways
and glimpses of a character s intentions or purpose using frequent symbolism. In addition to
symbolism the use of vibrant color and lighting, or the lack of, is carefully considered within each
shot which sets the mood appropriately for the film s duration. The Fifth Elements cinematography
does portray an emphasis on the balance of light and dark and, in most cases, providing the
effect of a very serious problem with hope constantly changing between foreground and
background as it does in life. The Fifth Element takes place in the year 2263 and is set primarily
on Earth. The narrative tells the story of New York taxi driver, and former soldier, Korben
Dallas(Bruce Willis) who encounters a young woman, who is the fifth element, named
Leeloo(Milla Jovovich) together they must fight together to save the world from Jean Baptiste
Emanuel Zorg(Gary Oldman) who is being directed by the great evil, simply named Mr. Shadow.
The Fifth Element has many uncommon traits, for example, the antagonist and the protagonist
never actually meet and when asked about this, director Luc Bessonsaid every time something was

Preventing Cancer And Boost Digestion With Horseradish

Article: The more science studies whole foods the more we learn that they may ultimately be our
salvation when it comes to curing major, life threatening illnesses. Even a humble root vegetable
like horseradish mainly used as a condiment is now being studied for it s many health benefits.
Now, for the first time science has identified and measured cancer fighting compounds, known as
glucosinolates, noting that horseradish contains approximately 10 times more glucosinolates than
its superfood cousin, broccoli.
More than just heat and flavor
Powerful and pungent horseradish is well known for adding heat to dishes. But this plant is also
connected to a wide variety of health benefits, including its ability to aid weight loss, lower blood
pressure, alleviate respiratory conditions, build strong bones, improve immune system health,
promote heart health, stimulate healthy digestion and most notably, horseradish can prevent cancer
due to its extremely high levels of glucosinolates. A recent study published in the Journal of
Agriculture and Food Chemisty shows glucosinolates could help detoxify and eliminate cancer
causing free radicals in the body. We knew horseradish had health benefits, said University of
Illinois scientist Mosbah Kushad, but in this study,

Why Do Bananafish Lose Innocence
Innocence: A Gain and A Loss Well, they[Bananafish] swim into a hole where there s a lot of
bananas. They re very ordinary looking fish when they swim in. But once they get in, they behave
like pigs.... Naturally, after that they re so fat they can t get out of the hole again. Can t fit through
the door. In J.D. Salinger s collection of tales doubly titled Nine Stories, He portrays the loss of
innocence along with other themes. He does this in a very unorthodox way. In the above quote, A
character named Seymour Glass is talking to a child about a fish called Bananafish. These fish are
very naive and travel into holes filled with bananas to fulfil their desires but think they will be

Analysis Of Truman Capote s The Novel Cold Blood
Real crime or true story is a recently denomination term used to refer to nonfictional acting of actual
crimes, usually murders. There has been little methodical study of the genre; critics and scholars
offer contradictory theories about true crime literature. Although the term and the popularity of the
genre are relatively new, factual accounts of crimes are not. True crime accounts date back as far as
the 18th century, and such writers as Edmund Pearson, William Roughead, and Jonathan Goodman
described the exploits of criminals earlier in the twentieth century. Critics agree that Truman Capote
s In Cold Bloodgave birth to the genre (Fathers fall 1990). Called a nonfiction novel, the book was
a not factual account of the murder of a Kansas family in which Capotefocused on the killers not
the victims, as was the norm previously. In attempting to explain why the killers acted as they
did, Capote s work and Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo work could be considered
classics of the genre. This essay takes its print to compare and contrast the two crime based movies
by looking into their content and setting to bringing out their similarities and differences. It also
outlines some of the benefits of such genres is society.
Most crime movies are real life crime inspired. These are real life experiences and true stories
turned into enactment though they may not capture the full real life flow of events. Foxcatcher is
one of such movies which are inspired by a real

The Cost Of Higher Education
The Cost of Higher Education Has Resulted in Extreme Student Loan
Debt, How Do We Reverse This Cycle?
During high school we are often told that higher education is essentially a precursor to achieving
success in the workforce, meaning that your success is dependent upon earning a degree. We are
also told that higher education is the key to happiness because it is clear that both a fulfilling and
lucrative career is a direct representation of success. Sometimes parents, teachers, and guidance
counselors forget to mention the tremendous cost of attending college. They almost never mention
the ongoing student loan debt bubble, its impact, or even how much tuition has risen. Odland
estimates that college tuition rates have surpassed the nations inflations rates by approximately
400% (College Costs Out of Control). Student debt is not only devastating the personal finances of
the average college graduate, it has long lasting negative effects on the economy, and families of
those attending higher education institution. There s a universal agreement that student debt is an
ongoing issue, yet there has been little done to solve this problem. In most cases the cost of college
is significantly greater than the potential salary that can be expected after college (Ramsey, Why
Student Loan Debt is STUPID). Not many students can afford to pay the cost of college out of their
own pocket; tuition, books, supplies, living expenses, food, and transportation. It has been
approximated that

What Is The Theme Of Contrapasso In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s Inferno, a permeating theme of the work is the idea of contrapasso. Contrapasso is
only mentioned once and late in the Inferno in Canto XXVIII of XXXIV by Bertran de Born: In
me you may observe fit punishment / CosГ s osserva in me lo contrapasso (XXVIII. 142). Although
the literary device of contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno, the tool is used in
every circle and subdivision in hell. Contrapasso is seen in the punishments of the damned in a
physical manifestation, which represents an appropriate mode of retribution in terms of a kind of
divine justice. In Dante s Inferno, contrapasso, while it describes the physical agony of the damned
as fit punishment for their habitual sins, represents the damage... Show more content on

Dante does not compare the lustful to just any animal; Dante compares them to birds. Dante
does this by writing: As, in cold weather, the wings of starlings / bear them up in wide, dense
flocks, / so does that blast propel the wicked spirits (V. 40 42). The lustful are not only compared
to starlings, but are also compared to cranes: Just as cranes chant their mournful songs, / making
a long line in the air, / thus I saw approach, heaving plaintive sighs (V. 46 48). Comparing the
wanton to birds does two things to them. First, it makes the sinners less than human as the
medieval point of view held that lust is the property of beings less than human (Hollander, p.
103). Secondly, it makes the sinners less than birds because birds are able to control where they
fly, while the lustful are not. Dante explains a little bit why the lecherous are punished the way
they are. He states that he understood that to such torment / the carnal sinners are condemned,
/ they who make reason subject to desire (V. 37 39). Desire governs the wantons reason instead of
reason governing their desire. Since will instead of reason governed the sinners choices in their
lives, then in hell they are experiencing the physical representation of the choices their souls made.
The lustful are at the will of the wind, which blows them anywhere without any direction. This
parallels the choices they made in life as their wills guided them without the direction of the
intellect. The

Female Genital Mutilation Throughout America
Female Genital Mutilation in America Female circumcision has been a cultural tradition
practiced in different parts of the world for many years in order to secure virginity until
marriage. In Africa female genital mutilation tradition is a part of the Muslim culture and parts
of the Middle East, for the women to be desirable by her husband. (JPEG) Consequently, girls the
ages of 4 through 14 are to endure the severe pains of female circumcision in order to not betray
their culture and family beliefs. (Ali, 2016) In the US, the estimated number of females between
15 and 49, who are either at risk of genital mutilation or who have already undergone a procedure,
has reached more than 500,000, triple the amount reported in the 1990 national census. (Female
genital mutilation in the US tripled in 25 years, 2015) This controversial practice performed on

total external female genitalia on girls to ensure their virginity this practice is illegal in many
parts of the United States. (Ali, 2016)Over the years congress passed the Transport for Female

Joan Of Arc As A Saint
From Stake to Saint Medieval knights are known for being strong, brave, and faithful. However,
a well known warrior in the Hundred Years War also shares these attributes. What makes her
different is that she was a French peasant girl. At the age of 13, Joan of Arc heard voices from
God telling her to save France. In the midst of the Hundred Years War, a conflict between
England and France for the French throne, Joan was told to drive the English out of France, and
see that Charles VII receive the crown. As a devout Catholic, Joan was going to make sure this
happened. Joan s courage and determination let her accomplish her task. Even in her darkest
times, she stayed strong and faithful. She inspires people to this day, and left a legacy. Even
though she was burned at the stake after being accused of witchcraft, she is remembered as a saint
and a hero. Joan of Arcs many achievements in battle and her legacy in French history lived on
for her to become a saint centuries later. Joan of Arc started her journey to becoming a saint in
1428, when she felt that heavenly voices spoke to her (Beck 360). The voices informed her that
Charles VII was the true king of France, and needed to get the crown. He was called Dauphin, or
rightful heir. Joan seeked an audience with him, and ventured to Vaucouleurs, a stronghold of
Charles VII, where she told the captain of the garrison about her visions. Unfortunately, he did not

Analysis Of Angela Carter s The Bloody Chamber
IT S NOT ABOUT THE SIZE, IT S HOW YOU USE IT
How short stories pack the perfect punch in promoting feminist ideals.
The limited trajectory of short narrative concentrates its meaning. Sign and sense can fuse to an
extent impossible to achieve among the multiplying ambiguities of an extended narrative. Angela
Carter Angela Carter is known in the literary community for her use of fairytales and overt sexual
imagery in promoting feminist platforms. At the time she wrote The Bloody Chamber , the Second
Wave of Feminism and, subsequently, the rise of radical libertarian feminism were crashing into the
forefront of the global politics. This wave of feminism primarily focused on the empowerment of
women through the exploration of female sexual identity, the promotion of androgynous females as
the ideal model for the modern woman, and the liberation of women from the patriarchal societal
traditions established to keep women in their submissive gender role (Formizano). Angela Carter
transforms the classic fairytale Bluebeard into a masterful portrait of female sexual liberation,
empowerment through gender role reversal, and financial independence in The Bloody Chamber .
A central dogma of feminism is the separation of female sexuality from the societal confines of
reproduction. In The Bloody Chamber , the female protagonist is a seventeen year old virgin who
goes on a journey of sexual self actualization in her marriage to the Marquis. Throughout the
narrative, we are

Georgi A Unique Geographical Location That Distinguishes...
Georgia has a remarkable history however, in order to find out why one must look at the
structure under the society itself. Georgia has a unique geographical location that distinguishes
it from other countries. This country resides at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, in the
Caucasus between the Black and Caspian Seas, which has always influenced the culture.
According to archaeological excavations in the territory of Georgia there are the first hominids
in Europe 1.8 million years ago. It is believed that they were the first Europeans, and that
Georgia is a country where they have spread to other parts of Europe. 1 Georgia became home to
the first Europeans settlers, and it didn t take long before they started growing vineyards and
wineries. Therefore,Georgia is considered the birthplace of winemaking and, to this day, one can
still find several dozen varieties of grapes and Georgia s popular wine around the world.
Nevertheless, Georgia became a country around 4 B.C. during the reign of Queen Tamara (1184
1213). From the 16th century on, the country became the unwilling stage of a struggle between
Persia and Turkey. In the 18th century, it became a vassal to Russia in exchange for protection
from the Turks and Persians, 2 where it joined Azerbaijan and Armenia in 1917 and created the anti
Bolshevik Transcaucasian Federation. Therefore, when the federation split up in 1918, Georgia
proclaimed itself independent. Nevertheless, in 1922, Georgia, Armenia, and

Access Controls And Access Control
This chapter is basically based on access control in regards to computer information security. Access
control is seen as the fundamental mechanism put in place to help make information security
successful. Access control feature, in a particular system, will control how users can communicate,
access and modify system resources and programs. Access controlwas described in this chapter as a
very useful tool for the computer information security because it helps with ensuring that
unauthorized person or program have no access to what they are not supposed to. Access control is
regarded as the first line of defense to control, protect and monitor organization s resource s
availability, confidentiality and integrity.
Furthermore, this chapter illustrates how users can be granted access to network resources. It
explained that for a user to be allowed access to a network he must satisfy the condition of
identification and authentication. The identification part could be something of user ID, name or
account number. The identification key is not enough to grant access, but it s simply a way of
introducing yourself by saying who you are. Then, at that point the system will request for you to
authenticate yourself (confirm who you said you are) by requesting for an authentication key. The
authentication key could be password, passphrase, personal identification number (PIN), or a token.
Once, the authentication is verified and the system found it to be correct, then access will be

False Memory In The Film Total Recall
Is it possible to implant a memory into someone s mind? When it comes to memory being
implanted to an individual mind I think that is the term false memories comes in. False memory is
the variation between memory and imagination which becomes obscured, and events that never
actually happened but become sewn into an individual memoryas real events. This individual then
believe that the memory is real and most can even describe these false memories vividly as if
they really experience them. For example in the movie Total Recall , Arnold Schwarzenegger
plays an inattentive construction worker in the year 2084 name Douglas. Douglas visits a
company named Recall, which plants false memories into people s brains, in order for individual s
to experience the thrill of Mars without having to travel there. In the movie Arnold believes that the
memories of mars is real but later discover that his entire life is actually a false memory and that
everything was that he thought was real was just implanted into his mind .... Show more content on

Human memory is highly subjective to misconception due to the high quantity of outside
influences that affect what remember and how we remember it. There has been a time where it
has been shown that outside influences from our family such as family resentment or other
occurrences might be the cause of false memories being implanted into what we actually believe.
False memories can be implanted in individual s minds that do not consider themselves powerless
or weak and uncritical. This shows how weak a person mind can be impacted by someone feeding
them false information or even just asking them a question about their past. For example, most
psychiatrists are able to bring up false memories inside adults who thought that they had maybe
suppressed of these thoughts. A simple question like do you remember the time when your mom

BRAVE The first of Disney Pixar s animated films without a male centered cast featuring a
spunky, defiant, and disheveled Scottish princess (figure 5), Merida, was Brave. Opening with
the expected invocation, Once Upon a Time, Disney prepares the audience to expect the
stereotypical gender patterns of the past to include a land far away and a beautiful princess
(Preston 198). Immediately opening with what might appear to be an twist from Disney tale s
tradition, the audience discovers that Merida is an adolescent proclaiming with unwavering
certainty, The one thing we [all] search for is the right to change (Brave). This statement in this
stage of life indicates, perhaps, that one should not grow up as quickly as possible but rather one
should desire to enjoy the adventures of discovering one s individual path without mimicking the
romantic desires of adults (Ebrahim 46). Following the traditional fairy tale format, Merida sees
her archenemy in another woman, her beautiful, proper, royal mother. The antagonistic Queen
instructs her daughter with language that employs a two value system: Princesses don t snort like
boys, Only men carry weapons, and The amount of food on your plate is like your brothers, to
which Merida responds in song, I am alive when [doing these masculine things] (Brave,
Sunderland 87). The plot quick unfolds indicating that Merida, expected to follow tradition, is
bound by duty to enter into a marriage with a man who has won her hand by a

Labour Turnover
PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
INTRODUCTION
The way trade and commerce is conducted nowadays has evolved. Everything involving the
operations of the organisation demands a more expeditious means of addressing issues and
changes in the external environment. Though this apparently would drive weak companies into the
verge of exiting the market, the good ones find a way for this intense demand for constant
improvement to their advantage. There are some who find a way to make these incessant demands
for change trigger the developmental needs of the company. This is especially true in the case of
the hospitality industry. In this industry, the focus is more on the service rendered to the public;

The Cave Allegory In Plato s The Republic
The Cave Allegory
Plato a famous Greek philosopher in his book The Republic has his teacher Socrates recount the
allegory of the cave.
A group of people have lived chained up in a deep cave since birth, never ever seeing daylight
and seeing only ahead. Behind them is a partial wall and a fire between the prisoners and the
partial wall. There are various statues manipulated by a hidden group (representing all the forces
that program and influence us) behind the partial wall that the prisoners cannot see.
The prisoners see the shadows cast by the statutes move and think they are real. Most people
mistake the products of their deletion, generalization, distortions and projections as real and
reflecting reality. They mistake their internal map of the world for the real world. ... Show more

They have never realized their mental models were controlling them.
One of the prisoners is freed from his bonds and forced to confront the reality of the fire and
statutes themselves. This is what happens when one day you wake up and something shocking
happens (you lose your job or someone close to you dies) and you are shaken out of your trance
state or default mode and forced to see the world as it is.
So the prisoner faces pain and confusion initially because his eyes are not used to the light. He
then realizes that he is seeing the reality for the first time as opposed to the shadows formed by the
fire and the statues, he previously saw.
He now accepts the fire and statues as most real. This stage in the cave represents belief. He is still
unaware that there that there are things of greater reality a world beyond his cave.
Like the prisoner, the first step to freedom is when you begin to wake up from your dream state
and your default modes.
Next, this prisoner is dragged out of the cave into world of sunlight where his eyes are blinded.
Initially he can only look at shadows, then at

Evaluation Of A Learning Organization
Organizations that strive to excel in aspects of innovation, competitiveness, and performance must
have clearly defined core values that are executed by specific learning disciplines (Senge, 2010).
Giesecke and McNeil (2004) stated, A learning organization is an organization skilled at creating,
acquiring, and transferring knowledgeand at modifying its behavior to reflect new knowledge and
insights (p. 55). In the pursuit of defining specific practices that would produce an ideal learning
organization, Senge (2008) proposes five disciplines that include, ...systems thinking, mental
models, personal mastery, shared vision, and dialogue (p. 1). In this application paper I will
analyze each of the five disciplines discussed by Senge (2008) and discuss how they can be
applied in an organization such as the high schoolwhere I am currently teaching to address specific
areas in need of improvement. The high school where I currently teach consists of twenty four
hundred students from grades 10th through 12th. This school organization as many others is in the
business of meeting educational challenges in the midst of innovative times in a noble attempt to
prepare students academically for the demands of an ever changing and knowledge driven work
environment. There are several key factors that I observe in our school that have in some way
hindered our progress in becoming an ideal learning organization. First, our school depends on the

Working capital is the money that a company has after paying off its current liabilities and with
which it can finance its operating and working capital requirements. The higher a number the
better a company is able to pay off its debt and have cash for meeting its financial obligations.
The current ratio is used to gauge a company s ability to pay back its short term liabilities (debt
and payables) with its short term assets (cash, inventory, receivables). The higher the current
ratio, the more capable the company is of paying its obligations. A ratio under 1 suggests that the
company would be unable to pay off its obligations if they came due at that point. The current
ratio denotes the efficiency of a company s operating cycle or its ability to turn its products into
cash, which is a key requirement for business success. Quick ratio is an indicator of a company s
short term liquidity. The quick ratio measures a company s ability to meet its short term obligations
with its most liquid assets, essentially cash and cash equivalents. The higher the quick ratio, the

Informative Essay On Wasps Vs Bees
It s summer, and there you are, drinking a refreshing beverage in the great outdoors when
suddenly you hear a buzz, see a flash of yellow and black... and yaow! ... you ve been stung.
Was it a bee? Or a wasp? Maybe a hornet, or yellowjacket?
If you didn t get a good look at the tiny assassin, you could always you know, carefully try
following it home, because it turns out you can learn a lot about a winged stinger by looking at it s
nest.
But before we get into why that is, I want to talk a little bit about wasps versus bees.
First up, you should know that yellowjackets and hornets are basically types of wasps. They re all
members of the Vespidae family, which includes a lot of solitary species, but also social nest
building types. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Honeybees couldn t make their hives out of paper even if they wanted to, because they lack the
proper mouthparts, but that s cool because they have way better building materials on hand.
They secrete a durable, waxy substance from their abdomens and with it construct the hexagonal
honeycomb cells they use to store honey and pollen, and raise larvae.
These hives are sturdy and perennial. They re built to last for years, and even when one becomes
overcrowded and half the colony leaves to start a new hive, the rest remain, many of them
overwintering in the hive.
And honey bee colonies are huge supporting tens of thousands of members, in part because it takes
that many to accumulate the estimated 60 pounds of honey they ll need to get through the winter.
Most wasp colonies tend to be a lot smaller, and some paper wasp nests hold fewer than 100
individuals. Aside from the queen, wasps may only live a few weeks, and as predators they don t
really store food for any real length of time.
Basically their nests need only provide shelter for a season s worth of offspring, at least in
temperate areas, and they don t need to and often can t build the kind of hive that keeps bees safe
and well fed throughout the

privacy is a struggling dilemma in America. Kasper asks, If it is gone, when did it disappear, and
why? (Kasper 69). Our past generation has experienced the baby boom, and the world today is

Privacy has expanded to more complex forms including people s information displayed
throughout technology (Kasper 71). Technology has become very effective for a thriving
generation, but it also possesses a handful of flaws that counter the benefits. Technologies help
people post and deliver a message in a matter of seconds in order to get a message spread quickly.
It also gives individuals the power to be the person they want to be by only showing one side of
themselves. But sometimes information that had intentions of remaining protected gets out. That
information is now open for all human eyes to see. This information, quite frankly, becomes
everybody s information and can be bought and sold without the individual being aware of it at all.
However, this is no accident. Americans in the post 9/11 era have grown accustomed to being
monitored. Government entities such as the NSA and laws such as the Patriot Act have received
power to do so in order to protect security of Americans. However, the founding fathers wrote the
fourth amendment to protect against violations of individual s privacy without reason. In a rapidly
growing technological world, civil liberties are increasingly being violated by privacy wiretapping
from government entities such as the NSA, Patriot Act and the reduction of the Fourth Amendment.

Comedy and Ridicule
In An Essay on the Theatre; or, A Comparison between Laughing and Sentimental Comedy (1773),
Goldsmith lays out the true purpose of dramatic comedy:
Comedy is defined by Aristotle to be a picture of the frailties of the lower part of mankind, to
distinguish it from tragedy, which is an exhibition of the misfortunes of the great. ... If we apply to
authorities, all the great masters in the dramatic art have but one opinion. Their rule is, that as
tragedy displays the calamities of the great, so comedy should excite our laughter by ridiculously
exhibiting the follies of the lower part of mankind.
Laughing Comedy
In An Essay on the Theatre, Goldsmith argued that sentimental comedy was really a form of
bastard tragedy :
Distress, therefore, is the proper object of tragedy, since the great excite our pity by their fall; but
not equally so of comedy, since the actors employed in it are originally so mean that they sink but

The Conquest Of New Spain
In Victors and the Vanquished, Schwartz poses the question of How can we evaluate conflicting
sources (ix)? Through reading historical events such as the Conquest of New Spain there is an
undeniably large amount of destruction of cultural material and bias testimonies of events recorded
several years after they occurred. After analyzing the Spanish Conquest of Mesoamerica there is a
debatable amount of evidence from the Mesoamericans and Spanish explanations of this event in
history. The intentions of each explanation created a conflict to historians, art historians and
anthropologists on which viewpoint holds to accuracy. There is also the issue of not only
inaccuracies, but the motives behind each bias account. As many of these aspects are taken into
consideration, interpreting each justification between both sides of history in Mesoamerica as a
clash of ethnocentrism between two different cultures that causes an uncertainty of what actually
happened in history. The Spaniards had a unique way of depicting history through Hernan Cortes

testimonies. Each explanation from these men detail a different aspect of time in the around 1519
of the Spanish conquest. Firstly, Cortes letters are written in favor of the Spanish King, Charles the

A Brief Note On Mexico s Agriculture Sector
Mexico s agriculture sector is renown in the international community for a myriad of goods that it
produces. From the cultivation of crops, sustainable soils, land usage and irrigation systems, its
rich land has helped Mexico s economy prosper into the 21st century. This feat is largely due to the
country s production and exportation of maize, one of their largest crops. However, in recent time
Mexicos agriculturesector has been affected by the vices of climate change and greenhouse emission
gases amongst other natural phenomenons. For the purpose of this paper the change of climatic
patterns in areas of temperature, precipitation and intensity will be discussed, as well as its
correlation to climate change and current weather trends, which have created unsustainable
environments for maize to grow.
Historically, Mexico s agriculture sector has followed a traditional style of crop production
focused on small scale farming. According to Luc Dendooven of the Center for Research and
Advanced Studies at the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, traditional agriculture refer to
the widely used cultivation techniques that consist of low N fertilizer application rates, no or little
irrigation, removal of crop residue for animal feed or fuel, and little or no use of herbicides and
pesticides (237). The Mexican agricultural sector adapted this concept early on by utilizing basic
natural resources such as soil enrichment and rainfall. Such practice has been supported by author

the needs and desires of the Russian people, so the people disagreed with many of the decisions he
made, which in turn affected his rapport with his citizens. The Royal family s close association with
controversial figure, Grigorii Rasputin, also affected their reputation and lessened the sanctity of
royalty. Rasputin was a monk and self appointed mystic, however he was mainly known throughout
Russia as a drunk and womaniser. His nickname itself meant immoral . The family became close

not fully aware of Alexei s condition so Rasputin s role in the court was always somewhat
mysterious and for the people, alarming. The family were so close with Rasputin that it was a

The Challenge For E Learning Practitioners
While the phrase a picture is worth a thousand words is often used to emphasize the importance of
visuals, recent research from neuroscience reveals the science behind that saying. However, the
challenge for e learning practitioners arises when they attempt to integrate learning theory into the
design and creation of visuals and video. Although elearning practitioners and instructional
designers are educated in learningtheory, what is often overlooked is the design of effective visuals
and/or video that has a basis learning theory.
To that end, there is a difference between the way the brainremembers words and remembers
visuals. The brain has an extraordinary capacity to remember visual information. Memory
experiments with visuals have shown that people can recall seeing hundreds, even thousands, of
pictures. Pictures seem to operate as chunks and while the brain can hold only a few chunks in
working memory at a time, visual images allow the brain to hold and enlarge the scope of those
chunks. This is because visual processes evolved over millions of years, so the brain machinery is
highly efficient in storing and recalling visual information.
Humans are predominantly processors of visual information, where neuroscience has revealed
90% of what the brain processes is visual information. In Jensen s 2008 book on Brain Based
Learning, he states that 80 90% of information absorbed by the brain is visual in nature. What s
more, the brain processes visual information

Interpersonal Communication Reflection
Upon receiving my special project, I took the opportunity to approach it as a new challenging task
but with the commitment to make it a learning and teaching opportunity for myself. The main
objective for this project was to enhance my knowledge and to adhere to what is one of my
weaknesses, group presentations. I was provided with the assignment of three post conferences to
be completed by the end of the semester. When delegating topics to present, I focused on the
tentative schedule and selected one disease to present in each post conference. My selection was
based on utilizing the time I had, as a benefit for both students and I to learn something that was
involved in our curriculum. The topics I choose to discuss in my post conferences... Show more

The reason why I choose to present this topic was because neuro disorders are hard to understand,
and I wanted to take the opportunity to teach my classmates useful information for the following
exam. Through the development and presentation of this project, the student teacher will discuss
the differences in seizures, safety precautions and nursing interventions. Before initiating
presentation, I provided 4 NCLEX style questions for pre test and a handout. In the packet,
information regarding etiology, manifestations of the 6 types of seizures and nursing
interventions where provided. At the completion of the presentation classmates will know the
different types of seizures, precautions during and after a seizures and a score improvement of 4
/4 on post test by the end of post conference. The presentation duration was of 15 minutes and
additional time to complete the pre/post test. After reviewing the post test results, I saw an
increase scores of 50%. Reviewing scores, I feel pleased with my presentation, with evidence that
my classmates did learn the material by improving post test scores. Evaluation papers had
constructive criticism, regarding speaking louder and having a clear tone of voice. The comments
indeed reflected my weakness, during the presentation I do tend to get quiet and hold back a lot.
The more practice I get with presentations, I believe will help me grow

Kant And Kant s Categorical Imperative
Immanuel Kant, an 18th century moral philosopher, had contended that the fundamental principle
of morality is the Categorical Imperative, from here will be additionally labeled as (CI) or
otherwise mentioned. He supported his view by suggesting a pure moral philosophy; a
metaphysics of morals that is not solely for rational beings to explore different¬ sources of basic
moral principles that are found through their own observational experience a priori, but additionally
for the sake of moralityas it remain vulnerable to all types of corruption. In this paper, I will
explain Kant s Categorical Imperative, break down and analyze the components of the imperative
and how he comes to the conclusion of a Categorical Imperative being a necessary component of
morality. I will also explain the term ought and how it defines a role in determining the
boundaries of the Categorical Imperative and what Kant means by maxims and their role of
inspiring our actions. At the conclusion of this paper, I intend to reach the conclusion that Kant s
Categorical Imperative is a fundamental principle of morality and offers a good foundation for
actions pursuant of moral ends. The Categorical Imperative is broken down in two parts. The first
is determining what an imperative is. Kant suggests that everything in nature and the world works
in accordance with laws and that only rational beings possess the capability of acting in accordance
with those laws. Rational beings, referring are able to

Comparing Poe s The Masque Of The Red Death
The Masque of the Red Death, by Edgar Allen Poe, is a story of death and how it is impossible
to escape. Though the book and the 1964 movie were very different, they did portray the same
message. In both, story and movie, Prince Prospero throws a masquerade ball for all of his high
class friends, to let all the others die out, and wait out the Red Death. Though it always ends the
same way, death. In Poe s short story, The Masque of the Red Death, he makes it pretty apparent
that there is no possible way to escape death, no matter what rank you are. To get across this
message he uses the ticking of a clock and the ring every hour to remind you death happens no
matter what you do. He also adds in seven different rooms of varying colors blue, purple, green,
orange, white, violet, and black/scarlet. These seven rooms may represent a whole unit of time,
like the days of the week. Poe also says that the rooms go east to west like the sun s course. Every
color of the room can also represent life itself, blue represents birth, purple is youth, green is
adolescence, orange is adulthood, old age is white, imminent death is violet, then finally death itself
is black/scarlet.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this movie instead of the rooms representing life there were cloaked figures to represent the
different colors and the number seven. In order to make Poe s short story into an hour and a
half long movie, they definitely added quite a bit. There is a love story in the movie with a girl
named Francesca and a boy, Geno. Francesca is a very religious person and believes that God is
the true God and she will go to paradise. On the other hand Prince Prospero worships Satan
thinking that he could have immortal life if he was loyal to him and gave him all his friends lives.
While he stayed very loyal to who he thought would save him, in the end he ends up being the face
of death himself and

The Book Lolita Essay
Lolita The book Lolita is a highly controversial novel written by Vladimir Nabokov. Lolita tells the
story of a man, Humbert Humbert, and his utter infatuation with a young nymphet named Lolita.
The book and subsequent film adaptations, specifically Stanley Kubrick s 1962 adaptation and
Adrian Lyne s 1997 adaptation aim to create a feeling of sympathy for the protagonist, Humbert
Humbert. Through the use of first person narration, Humbert Humbert is able to manipulate readers
with simple inaccuracies, making him an unreliable narrator. The term unreliable narrator was
famously coined by Wayne Booth in Rhetoric of Fiction. Booth defines the reliable and unreliable
narrator in the following way: I have called a narrator reliable when... Show more content on

He describes himself ambiguously as a murderer with a sensational but incomplete and unorthodox
memory (217) when trying to recall the first instance where he notices that he and Lolita are being
pursued on their second trip through the
States. This self confessed fallibility of memory can further be observed in the arbitrary
rearrangement of events, such as the instance where he mixes up two separate visits to Briceland
with Rita. He defensively ascribes an importance to this mix up by noting that such suffusions of
swimming colors are not to be disdained by the artist in recollection (263), perhaps arguing that
mishaps are sometimes to be expected when creating art.
Humbert refers to himself as a very conscientious recorder after telling Lolita about his plans to
marry Charlotte over the telephone (72). He maintains that it is his artistic duty to have the
passage covering his marriage to Charlotte in the same style as his journal from that time in order
to avoid biased remarks (71). Furthermore, he is able to recall certain happenings with astounding
clarity. Chapter eleven includes several pages of diary writing which he manages to include in their
entirety by claiming to have a photographic memory (40). Similarly, he remembers the confessional
letter Charlotte wrote to him verbatim, albeit presenting only half of it, leaving out a lyrical
passage about

Korban Khatat Sin Offerings (Literally sacrifices due to sin )
Introduced in Leviticus 6:24 30, this was a mandatory sacrifice due to sin as defined in the Torah.
This was most commonly based on negligence of the commandment broken and was offered on
the northern side of the altar (which was out of view of the people) so as not to publicly humiliate
the sinner (the Olah was conducted in the same manner). Based on social standing it would consist
of the following:

would lean over the animal, place his hands on the animal s head (s mikhah yedayim), and confess

collected the blood from when the offerer cut the throat of the animal and then would sprinkle it on
the four corners of the altar. The organs were removed, cleaned and then burnt on the altar with the
rest of the animal.
Introduced in Leviticus 6:8 13, this was a free will sacrifice. Based on wealth it could consist of the

Middle Class: Male Sheep or goat without blemish
Lower Class: Turtledoves or young pigeon

In most TV series the viewers are accustomed to figuring out the main Protagonist and Antagonist
of the shows. In the TV series of Game of Thrones that completely changes as the viewers are left
stunned as the viewers are left guessing who the real Protagonist is, as the author George R. R.
Martin shows no mercy to any of the main characters. .This show was a different experience for
me as a viewer as it changes the way I love and hate characters. Game of Thrones also has nudity
and violence as the author portrays what barbaric things that we as humans have done in the past.
Martin s true intentions is to relay the message to the viewers that women were helplessly taken

A competency describes anything that a business does well and differentiates them from
competitors. The authors from Essentials of Strategic Management say it best as they define a
competency as the cross functional integration and coordination of capabilities. They continue to
clearly define that core competencies are the collection of competencies that cross divisional
boundaries, is widespread with the corporation, and is something a corporation can do exceedingly
well and that distinctive competency are those skills that are superior to those of the competition.

What Is The Political Philosophy Of The Tempest
THE TEMPEST:
POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY ON SHAKESPEARE S LAST PLAY
Political Philosophy is a wide branch of philosophy that focuses statements and arguments involving
political opinion. It is all about state, politics itself, liberty, justice and the idea of authority. It
tackles the meaning of government itself, why it is needed, what makes a government legitimate,
the freedom of its underman, duties of both government and citizens and other political stuff. This
type of philosophy is being practiced since it was discovered and has two reasons. First is the
method and approach the philosopher and second is the philosopher s agenda that made him came

Experts have acclaimed that The Tempestdid not receive a big amount of public attention and
applause before the ban on the performance of plays in 1642 and retained its popularity after the
Restoration. During 19th and 20th century, theater productions took great interest with the play
and undertook a re appraisal now saying that The Tempest is one of Shakespeare s greatest
works. The Tempest is the inspiration of 46 operas, plays, poems, and films. The story focuses
with the exiled duke of Milan, Prospero, which was brought to an island on the Mediterranean
border which he claimed to be the master. There he raised his daughter from childhood, Mirana,
and encountered the fascinating creature Caliban and the spirit Ariel. Prospero made Ariel his
right hand while Caliban became a slave who is the previous master of the island. Prospero made
a Tempest which he said to come from the use of witchcraft or magic to manipulate certain things
just like the storm that hit the ship of the King of Naples. We might have seen The Tempest as a
supernatural literary piece but almost all of the characters on the play are just part of Prospero s
political experiment. Prospero was once a philosopher in Milan but after he was overthrown, he
started to realize the meaning of Machiavellian politics. Prospero is shown to act according to his
own philosophy but is shown that it is not his main motivation for his actions. Prospero main
motivation must be creating the best regime. It is in the story that parallels the Old Testament and
the creation of Israel. As we can see, the royal group in the ship and the drunkards represents the
flaws of human nature. Prospero noticed this flaws and corrects them through establishing some
sort of modern Israel. Prospero s leadership is planned to be a nation where justice will be seen and

Differences Of Police Use Of Force
There are differences in attitudes towards the use of force by police. There are some groups that
support police and there use of force. There are also groups that find the use of force by police
excessive and biased. Carter and Corra (2016) studied white peoples opinions of police use of force
in association with their attitudes towards race. They found that ones opinions of race are related
with their opinions of policeuse of force. Racial resentment as measured by two criteria developed
by the researchers and three questions included negative affect and the belief that minorities are
lazy and lack motivation. If a participant had high racial resentment they were more likely to
support police use of force (Carter Corra, 2016). However, in a study conducted by Green, Eva,
Staerkle, and David in 2006 noted that support for use of force is also linked to political leanings
such as liberal or conservative. Furthermore an individuals views regarding financial and
economic issues also influences their beliefs about use of force (Green, Eva, Staerkle, David,
2006). These studies suggest that racial attitudes and political leanings can influence how an
individual views police use of force. Additionally, this could explain the differences in opinion
about police use of force.

  • 2. Sharon Bryant Interview Paper The person who I choose to interview for this paper is my grandmother Sharon Bryant (nГ©e Kimple), and the main reason I chose to interview her was that I really did not know much about her life story and wanted to learn more. Currently she is 72 years old, and lives in Vancouver, Washington with her husband of 52 years Allan Bryant. She has been retired for the past two years and enjoys spending her free time quilting and sewing, and does not have any major medical issues aside from a few allergies. Sharon was born March 27th 1943 in Glendale, California. For the first couple years of her early childhood her motherwas working while her father was a photographer and a Seabee (construction worker) until the end of World War 2. She first met her father when she was four years old. Her father struggled with PTSD when he got back and Sharon described him as intelligent and nice, but could become very mean and angry, and that she was to be seen but not heard. Sharon is the older of two sisters and spent a lot of time helping raise them as both her parents owned businesses with her mother owning a catering company and her father a paint strainer manufacturing business. One of the first major events she remembers from her childhood was a major car accident when she was in between Kindergarten and the first grade. She says that before the accident... A stern but kind approach to management, something she picked up from raising 4 kids. She also had strong bonds with her parents, even her father who ended up moving in with her and her family for the last 8 years of his life, putting Sharon into a sandwich generation (Whitborne Whitborne, 2014) where she is still helping out her kids and now helping our her parents. • 3. Similarities Between The Weary Blues And I Too In today s society we face a lot of issues, but there is one issue that stands out to me most. Which these two poems address, that is injustice towards other race in America. In Langston Hughes I Too and The Weary Blues the trouble of unjust towards African Americans, weigh on the speaker s mind. Each poem reflecting on the same issue just a little bit differently. In the poem I Too written in 1945 the overall theme focused by Langston was discrimination towards the African American people in the United States. We understand that the speaker in the poem is black from the first line where it states I am the darker brother providing an imagery for the readers. Then in the poem it says They send me to eat in the kitchen when company comes setting the tone of the poem, meaning that the speaker is unimportant person or referring him to a slave. The reason so, is because back in the day s slaves had to eat in the kitchen of white slave owners. The setting of the first stanza of I Too... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As we move to the second stanza it provides us with a tone where the speakers is hopeful that one day in the future he ll be important as the people who make him eat in the kitchen. We can interpret that from Tomorrow I ll be at the table when company comes. Nobody ll dare say to me eat in the kitchen, then . At the end of the poem the speaker says Besides, they ll see how beautiful I am and be ashamed implying that the discriminating people will one day find out that everyone one is equal and be disappointed in their actions. As for the second the poem The Weary Blues the theme in it is slightly different from I Too, but it has the same meaning. The theme is about how African American expressed their opinions and communicated throughout music because they were being discriminated. In the third line of the poem speaker gives us a ... • 4. Survival of the Marine Corps SURVIVAL OF THE MARINE CORPS The Marine Corps historical characteristics after the Civil War could be based in part on survivability and the need for the Marine Corps to prove its worth to the United States as a Military Force. The Marine Corps part in the Civil War had been small and not altogether impressive. Both the Army and the Navy did not regard the Marine Corps as useful. This paper will in effect touch on the Marine Corps history from after the Civil War to World War I. It will then converge on a discussion with regards to the fight against the disestablishment of the Marine Corps. (Simmons/Moskin 1998) The Marine Corps found its mission in the amphibious landings of several countries to protect American lives and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many official German reports had called the attacking Marines teufel hunden, meaning Devil Dogs. These beasts were the ferocious mountain dogs of Bavarian folklore. (Sturkey 2003) Soon afterward a U.S. Marine Recruiting Poster depicted a snarling English Bulldog wearing a Marine Corps helmet. Because of the tenacity and demeanor of the breed, the image took root with both the Marines and the public. The Marines soon unofficially adopted the English Bulldog as their mascot. (Sturkey 2003) Although the Marine Corps has established itself as a premier fighting force, there were still rumbles among officials. The original culprits of the war against the Marines were the senior officers in the US Army. This started immediately after WW I. During the build up for WW II Army General George C. Marshall was quoted as saying that his job was to keep the Marine Corps, small, very small. General Dwight D. Eisenhower was quoted as making similar comments. They were not the only ones. (wanaki@infi.net Online) Both the Army and Army Air Force were making plans as early as 1943 to gut the Marines. Marine Lieutenant Colonel Merrill Twining was visiting his brother, Brigadier General Nathan Twining during that year and he was flabbergasted to learn that the Army officers there were outwardly proclaiming that they weren t going to allow the Marines to command any Corps sized units. Admirals Halsey and Nimitz made short shrift ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Mental Health Issues Of Vietnam Veterans Society does not accommodate the needs of Veterans in terms of housing and health services upon returning to civilian life. Vietnam veterans are infamously known for being homeless and having a host of mental health issues. Today s veterans have more support systems but the success of those systems may vary from region to region. In the Puget Soundregion there are many homeless veterans despite efforts made by communities and municipalities. Issues of access to health care and inadequate community support intersect to form an underserved group of citizens who served in the military. Those who serve in the military are the often purported to be the ideal citizens who dedicate their lives to service. Veterans however are displaced and unable to fit within society without an array of different services. Veterans have engaged in the duty to kill others for the sake of the political community in order to secure their living and membership within society (Yuval Davis, 2012:208). The political community then has a responsibility to provide for the soldiers when they return to being citizens. The culture for those who come from the military is highly disciplined and has an emphasis accomplishing goals for the larger group. Veterans witness a low work ethic and see people squander away their opportunity creating a difference in the culture between ex military and civilian populations in daily life (Rodriguez, Ricardo, 2016:Personal Interview). • 7. Investigating The Internal Controls Of The Business... Fraud prevention is a concern to both small businesses and large corporations alike. Business owners place their trust into employees who are hired to perform duties that contribute to the success of the company. When that trust is broken, or ideally before this occurs, businesses must look to their internal controls in an effort to limit the opportunity for such malicious behavior. The purpose of this paper is to define internal controls, explain the purpose it serves in the business environment, and common internal control measures. Additionally, an example of internal control from this author s employer will be discussed as well as an incidence of embezzlement found while researching this topic. Let s first take a look at its definition and some examples. Internal controls, as defined by Investopedia.com, are methods put in place by a company to ensure the integrity of financial and accounting information, meet operational and profitability targets, and transmit management policies throughout the organization. This system works best when applied to multiple divisions and deal with inter departmental transactions. An example of the latter may be those occurring between the originating department from where the transaction is originated, supply management, and accounts payable. These methods can be broken down between a preventative and a detective category. Preventive controls are just such: those policies and procedures that prevent an incident from occurring. ... • 8. Summary Of No Name Woman The society has changed over the year from the early twenty to nowadays. One time, I read this article; it said something about how men and women are the same, but still, have some different qualities. If you really think about it, men are more dominant than women. In the early twenties, women could not get a job because that was the man s job to provide for the family. When men and women would get married that would mean they would be together until you die because there was no such thing as getting divorced. There might be some punishments if a womandoesn t follow what a women is suppose to do, like if a women is with another man while she is still married. When the villagers want some water from the well, the well is going to bring back memories of the women and at means that the women wasn t completely forgotten. This quote is saying that when the mother started taking medicine that she started to remember her dead mother, even if the women didn t want to remember her dead mother. • 9. Symbolism In Director Luc Besson s The Fifth Element Director Luc Besson s 1997 film The Fifth Element is an incredibly imaginative futuristic film depicting the cycle of good and evil and the human factor involved with the infinite battle. Besson carefully constructs this film to provide a human feeling to the film, providing emotional gateways and glimpses of a character s intentions or purpose using frequent symbolism. In addition to symbolism the use of vibrant color and lighting, or the lack of, is carefully considered within each shot which sets the mood appropriately for the film s duration. The Fifth Elements cinematography does portray an emphasis on the balance of light and dark and, in most cases, providing the effect of a very serious problem with hope constantly changing between foreground and background as it does in life. The Fifth Element takes place in the year 2263 and is set primarily on Earth. The narrative tells the story of New York taxi driver, and former soldier, Korben Dallas(Bruce Willis) who encounters a young woman, who is the fifth element, named Leeloo(Milla Jovovich) together they must fight together to save the world from Jean Baptiste Emanuel Zorg(Gary Oldman) who is being directed by the great evil, simply named Mr. Shadow. The Fifth Element has many uncommon traits, for example, the antagonist and the protagonist never actually meet and when asked about this, director Luc Bessonsaid every time something was too classical, like the villain seeing the hero at the end and ... Photo 1 Article: The more science studies whole foods the more we learn that they may ultimately be our salvation when it comes to curing major, life threatening illnesses. Even a humble root vegetable like horseradish mainly used as a condiment is now being studied for it s many health benefits. Now, for the first time science has identified and measured cancer fighting compounds, known as glucosinolates, noting that horseradish contains approximately 10 times more glucosinolates than its superfood cousin, broccoli. More than just heat and flavor Powerful and pungent horseradish is well known for adding heat to dishes. But this plant is also connected to a wide variety of health benefits, including its ability to aid weight loss, lower blood pressure, alleviate respiratory conditions, build strong bones, improve immune system health, promote heart health, stimulate healthy digestion and most notably, horseradish can prevent cancer due to its extremely high levels of glucosinolates. A recent study published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemisty shows glucosinolates could help detoxify and eliminate cancer causing free radicals in the body. On the other side of the street was a fair few amount of people fighting the others, using God as a reference but being overall very unruly and much louder than the people on the other side. Although the term and the popularity of the genre are relatively new, factual accounts of crimes are not. True crime accounts date back as far as the 18th century, and such writers as Edmund Pearson, William Roughead, and Jonathan Goodman described the exploits of criminals earlier in the twentieth century. Critics agree that Truman Capote s In Cold Bloodgave birth to the genre (Fathers fall 1990). Called a nonfiction novel, the book was a not factual account of the murder of a Kansas family in which Capotefocused on the killers not the victims, as was the norm previously. In attempting to explain why the killers acted as they did, Capote s work and Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo work could be considered classics of the genre. This essay takes its print to compare and contrast the two crime based movies by looking into their content and setting to bringing out their similarities and differences. It also outlines some of the benefits of such genres is society. Most crime movies are real life crime inspired. These are real life experiences and true stories turned into enactment though they may not capture the full real life flow of events. Foxcatcher is one of such movies which are inspired by a real ... • 14. The Cost Of Higher Education The Cost of Higher Education Has Resulted in Extreme Student Loan Debt, How Do We Reverse This Cycle? During high school we are often told that higher education is essentially a precursor to achieving success in the workforce, meaning that your success is dependent upon earning a degree. We are also told that higher education is the key to happiness because it is clear that both a fulfilling and lucrative career is a direct representation of success. Sometimes parents, teachers, and guidance counselors forget to mention the tremendous cost of attending college. They almost never mention the ongoing student loan debt bubble, its impact, or even how much tuition has risen. Odland estimates that college tuition rates have surpassed the nations inflations rates by approximately 400% (College Costs Out of Control). Student debt is not only devastating the personal finances of the average college graduate, it has long lasting negative effects on the economy, and families of those attending higher education institution. There s a universal agreement that student debt is an ongoing issue, yet there has been little done to solve this problem. In most cases the cost of college is significantly greater than the potential salary that can be expected after college (Ramsey, Why Student Loan Debt is STUPID). Not many students can afford to pay the cost of college out of their own pocket; tuition, books, supplies, living expenses, food, and transportation. It has been approximated that ... • 15. What Is The Theme Of Contrapasso In Dante s Inferno In Dante s Inferno, a permeating theme of the work is the idea of contrapasso. Contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno in Canto XXVIII of XXXIV by Bertran de Born: In me you may observe fit punishment / CosГ s osserva in me lo contrapasso (XXVIII. 142). Although the literary device of contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno, the tool is used in every circle and subdivision in hell. Contrapasso is seen in the punishments of the damned in a physical manifestation, which represents an appropriate mode of retribution in terms of a kind of divine justice. In Dante s Inferno, contrapasso, while it describes the physical agony of the damned as fit punishment for their habitual sins, represents the damage... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dante does not compare the lustful to just any animal; Dante compares them to birds. Dante does this by writing: As, in cold weather, the wings of starlings / bear them up in wide, dense flocks, / so does that blast propel the wicked spirits (V. 40 42). The lustful are not only compared to starlings, but are also compared to cranes: Just as cranes chant their mournful songs, / making a long line in the air, / thus I saw approach, heaving plaintive sighs (V. 46 48). Comparing the wanton to birds does two things to them. First, it makes the sinners less than human as the medieval point of view held that lust is the property of beings less than human (Hollander, p. 103). Secondly, it makes the sinners less than birds because birds are able to control where they fly, while the lustful are not. Dante explains a little bit why the lecherous are punished the way they are. He states that he understood that to such torment / the carnal sinners are condemned, / they who make reason subject to desire (V. 37 39). Desire governs the wantons reason instead of reason governing their desire. Since will instead of reason governed the sinners choices in their lives, then in hell they are experiencing the physical representation of the choices their souls made. The lustful are at the will of the wind, which blows them anywhere without any direction. This parallels the choices they made in life as their wills guided them without the direction of the intellect. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The limited trajectory of short narrative concentrates its meaning. Sign and sense can fuse to an extent impossible to achieve among the multiplying ambiguities of an extended narrative. Angela Carter Angela Carter is known in the literary community for her use of fairytales and overt sexual imagery in promoting feminist platforms. At the time she wrote The Bloody Chamber , the Second Wave of Feminism and, subsequently, the rise of radical libertarian feminism were crashing into the forefront of the global politics. This wave of feminism primarily focused on the empowerment of women through the exploration of female sexual identity, the promotion of androgynous females as the ideal model for the modern woman, and the liberation of women from the patriarchal societal traditions established to keep women in their submissive gender role (Formizano). Angela Carter transforms the classic fairytale Bluebeard into a masterful portrait of female sexual liberation, empowerment through gender role reversal, and financial independence in The Bloody Chamber . A central dogma of feminism is the separation of female sexuality from the societal confines of reproduction. In The Bloody Chamber , the female protagonist is a seventeen year old virgin who goes on a journey of sexual self actualization in her marriage to the Marquis. Throughout the narrative, we are ... Comedy and Ridicule In An Essay on the Theatre; or, A Comparison between Laughing and Sentimental Comedy (1773), Goldsmith lays out the true purpose of dramatic comedy: Comedy is defined by Aristotle to be a picture of the frailties of the lower part of mankind, to distinguish it from tragedy, which is an exhibition of the misfortunes of the great. ... If we apply to authorities, all the great masters in the dramatic art have but one opinion. Their rule is, that as tragedy displays the calamities of the great, so comedy should excite our laughter by ridiculously exhibiting the follies of the lower part of mankind. Laughing Comedy In An Essay on the Theatre, Goldsmith argued that sentimental comedy was really a form of bastard tragedy : Distress, therefore, is the proper object of tragedy, since the great excite our pity by their fall; but not equally so of comedy, since the actors employed in it are originally so mean that they sink but little by the fall. Through reading historical events such as the Conquest of New Spain there is an undeniably large amount of destruction of cultural material and bias testimonies of events recorded several years after they occurred. After analyzing the Spanish Conquest of Mesoamerica there is a debatable amount of evidence from the Mesoamericans and Spanish explanations of this event in history. The Challenge For E Learning Practitioners While the phrase a picture is worth a thousand words is often used to emphasize the importance of visuals, recent research from neuroscience reveals the science behind that saying. However, the challenge for e learning practitioners arises when they attempt to integrate learning theory into the design and creation of visuals and video. Although elearning practitioners and instructional designers are educated in learningtheory, what is often overlooked is the design of effective visuals and/or video that has a basis learning theory. To that end, there is a difference between the way the brainremembers words and remembers visuals. The brain has an extraordinary capacity to remember visual information. Memory experiments with visuals have shown that people can recall seeing hundreds, even thousands, of pictures. Pictures seem to operate as chunks and while the brain can hold only a few chunks in working memory at a time, visual images allow the brain to hold and enlarge the scope of those chunks. This is because visual processes evolved over millions of years, so the brain machinery is highly efficient in storing and recalling visual information. Humans are predominantly processors of visual information, where neuroscience has revealed 90% of what the brain processes is visual information. In Jensen s 2008 book on Brain Based Learning, he states that 80 90% of information absorbed by the brain is visual in nature. What s more, the brain processes visual information ...
