Carol Ann Duffy Poems Analysis
Originally Introduction Memories play a significant role in the poetry of Carol Ann Duffy,
particularly her recollections of childhood places and events. The poem Originally, published in
The Other Country (1990), draws specifically from memories of Duffy s family s move from
Scotland to England when she and her siblings were very young. The first born child, Duffy was
just old enough to feel a deep sense of personal loss and fear as she traveled farther and farther
away from the only place she had known as home and the family neared its alien destination. This
sentiment is captured in Originally, in which it is described in the rich detail and defining language
of both the child who has had the experience and the adult who recalls... Show more content on

The hate name of the racists is sprayed on a brick wall the harshness and unyielding nature of
which is symbolic of the mentality of those who do such things. The unfamiliar, snowy weather
and artificial neon lights create the impression for the immigrant that the country moved to is
coming to bits . This image of fragmentation is, though, not entirely imaginary as he or she has a
life splintered from all that is familiar and constantly experiences a sense of alienation. The
italicised words at the close of the poem give voice to the immigrant but this only gives away a
difficulty with English. The unfinished verbs, Me not know and It like they only... are drawn
attention to by Duffy in order that the reader may ponder what it would be like to face the same
language problem. The final words of the poem, Imagine that remind us of the opening and there
is quite a clear impression that Duffy is adopting an undisguised didactic stance. As a skilled and
empowered user of the English language herself she is drawing attention to the lot of those who
are marginalised because of their deficiency in its use. Carol Ann Duffy s Stealing An Analysis and

The Insanity Of Nathaniel In The Sandman By E. T. A.
Nathaniel is the main character of the short story The Sandman by E.T.A. Victimized ata young age
with stories about a sandman; he later comes to believe that his father s work friendCoppelius is the
Sandman. After the death of his father, Nathaniel blames Coppelius and tries toseek him out for
revenge. His significance to the story is shown through his behavior, words, andinteractions with
other characters. This characters importance is also in his insanity, whichmanifests itself throughout
the story. The story opens up with a letter from him to his lover s brother, Lothaire. Then itswitches

an anonymous friend of Nathaniel s, who continues... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From childhood, Nathaniel was plaguedby horrific stories of a sandman and then his father dies
terribly with the person, who he believesto be the Sandman, there. This made his mindset fragile
and more susceptible to delusions andevents that would seem like a Sandman was behind them.
After Nathaniel awakens from his insanity episode, he appeared relatively normal for alittle
while. He even appears rational enough to admit he was not well before to his friendSigismund.
Heavens, brother, I was in an evil way, but a good angel led me betimes on to thepath of light!
Ah, that was Clara (Hoffman 10)! If Nathaniel was insane before in the story, thisis one of the
few times he seems level headed. A madman would not admit to being in an evilway; a madman
would think that his actions were in the right and normal. The rationality ofNathaniel does not
last, however, and all it takes to drive him back over the deep end is areminder of the man who
has troubled his thoughts since childhood. One of the best examples ofa rational person in this
story would be Clara. She is rational because she believes in fact andlogic. In her eyes, after
reading Nathaniel s first letter, it is all in Nathaniel s head. Her reasoningis based on the
psychological compared to what happened to Nathaniel as a child. The reminder of Coppelius is in
the telescope given to him by Coppola. Nathaniel reliveshis watching of Olympia through glancing
Clara in the telescope. Then he sprang high into theair and punctuating his words with horrible
laughter, he shrieked out in a piercing tone, Spinround, wooden doll! Spin round! Then seizing
Clara with immense force, he tried to hurl herdown (Hoffman 10). He remains in this state of
madness until the very end of the story whenthrows himself off the building to get at Coppelius,

Deforestation And Its Effects On Deforestation Essay
Deforestation is the act of cutting or burning down all of the trees in an area. The original area
covered by forests was approximately six billion hectares, however the total area of land covered
by forests today is only four billion hectares. The issue is only expanding, and its challenges are
becoming tougher every day. In fact, approximately sixteen million hectares of forestdisappear each
year. Forests cover more than twenty five percent of the world s land, and more than half of that is
found in the tropics. Deforestation has been around for more than five decades, and humanity has
only just begun to find the causes of the problem.
Forests cover approximately thirty percent of the world s land. Deforestation represents one of the
world s largest issues in global land usage. In fact, humans are one of the biggest influences for
deforestation. Farmers use a method known as the slash and burn process to cut down trees and
grow their crops in the soil fertilized by the ashes. Many people use commercial logging, a
process in which trees are trimmed and transported in order to build mills, by chopping down vast
areas of forest for profit. Wildfires and overgrazing are also large issues that contribute to
deforestation. This leaves the forest vulnerable to many global and environmental consequences.
Everyday carbon dioxide is returned to the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas when trees are burned,
and this has great potential to alter the global climate. As a result, there

Class Basic the class has the indexOfChar and indexAtChar method.
The first method matches characters of a string to the alphabet and returns a numeric value, the
second method is used to return a char which is located at the position int pos.
Class Hill has an object basic of the class basic so as to access the methods from the basic class,
this is done later on in the program.
Class Hill also contains method Hill, this ensures that the matrix we are using is a 2X2 matrix, that

The method reads the key matrix. The user will enter in the first number and press enter and do this

Impact Of Ecosystem On The Deepwater Horizon Spill
The oil and refined products are a mixture of various hydrocarbons and other compounds whose
physical and chemical properties vary; during an oil spill, the composite determines the behavior
and impact on the environmental elements such as physical, biological, ecosystem, and the
economical impact. During this Case Study I will continue to discuss the characteristics of each
affected ecosystem including organisms commonly found in the Deepwater Horizon Spill affected
area, potential threats based on their relative location to the spill, and the economic impact of
damages in these communities.
Main Body
During the Deepwater Horizon Oil spill an estimated five million barrels of oil was released into
the sea. The BP oil spill is the largest chemical dispersants in marine waters in US history. The oil
slick affected the states of Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana the spill impacted
more than 110 kilometers from the coast of Louisiana. Other affected are outside the US was the
coasts of Mexico and Cuba. Understanding various ecosystems allow us to better understand the
impact in which the Deepwater Horizon Spill had within each type of ecosystem. The oil spill
affected three specific types of ecosystems including the coastal, freshwater, and the upland areas.
Wetland plants are called hydrophytes; in the past wetlands had been viewed as wasted land,
fortunately scientists have realized that wetlands have a tremendous value to our ecosystem.

Themes In Vertigo
Vertigo is a 1958 American Psychological thriller film directed by one of the best director of all
times, Alfred Hitchcock. The movie shows many contexts like fear, obsession and fantasy. The
movie starts when John (Scottie) Ferguson (James Stewart) a detective retires from his job when
his fellow officer loses his life falling from the height. In this moment, he accidentally gains
acrophobia (fear of height). His friend Gavin Elster (Tom Helmore) wants him to tail and follow
Madeleine (Kim Novak) who is acting weird and strange recently. Scottie blames himself and feels
guilty when he can t save Madeleine from jumping off the tower. The film throughout the time
shows the different contexts to relate the theme of obsession and sexual fantasy. The film is one of
the top example in use of camera, cinematography, score and direction. The movie successfully
portrays how love turns into obsession, how fear leads these characters into different madness, by
the perfect use of color, cinematography and use of characters. Color is one of the essential part
of the movie. The use of color can determine various emotions in the film. It can add richness to
any scene. The use of white has always shown to describe the peace and purity, whereas the red
describes rage, anger and bad. Black is color of mystery usually used to show the darkness,
evilness of a scene. Hitchcock is a big fan of use of color, he has perfectly used the colors to
demonstrate the characters build up and add the depth to it. Scottie sees Madeleine for the first time
in the restaurant wearing a dark greencolor dress which makes her focus among the other people.
Scottie starts feeling something her, next day again when he follows her, Madeleine drives green
car which again tries to state that she is the main focus. The use of alternative colors in the movie
depicts how the characters are build up to the story, red is shown as the Scottie s obsession, fantasy
and love whereas green to create this uncanniness, and unrealism and yellow as a reality, and truth
of the matter.
In the next scene, Madeline drives to Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco which is red. She was
again showed in a green dress, which matches the sea color green. She jumps into the sea

Essay on Diego Rivera
Diego Rivera
Diego Rivera he is a Mexican painter who produced murals on social themes and who ranks one of
my countries greatest artists. He was born in Guanajuato and educated at the San Carlos Academy
of Fine Arts , in
Mexico City. he studied painting in Europe between 1907 and 1921, becoming familiar with the
innovative cubist forms of the French painter Paul Cezanne and Pablo Picasso. In 1921 Riviera
returned to
Mexico and took a prominent part in revival of mural painting initiated by artists and sponsored by
the government . Believing that art should serve the working people and be readily available to
them , he concentrated on painting large frescoes, concerning the history and social problems of

leading 20th century Mexican painter.
I think what I like the most the murals that he painted I liked how he drew the Indian people their
faces the scenery , the palace and his style. Riviera s murals are rich in archeological detail and
painted in sharply outlined , linear style. Most of them have clear , three dimensional figures in a
shallow space , although a deep spatial extension of landscape appears at the top of some works .
Rivera also executed easel paintings and portraits and designed and built his
Mexico City house , the Anahuacalli, which is now a museum housing the extensive collection
of pre Columbian art that he left for Mexican people . I liked the water colors that Riviera used
for the murals and the way he painted the pictures .I imagine take him a long time to draw the
murals and paint them and drawing the faces . I have seen his murals in the walls in Mexico
City and I really think is very hard to draw the murals and I also have seen in the museums alot of
pictures that Riviera has drawn and I was really impressed with all his work.
The thing that I liked the most were the murals that he drew and the painting and how he drew the

The Experiences Of Young Asian Men Within The Educational...
The aim of this research is to look into the experiences of young Asian men within the educational
system. When young people are going through the transition of leaving primary School to begin
secondary it can be a very daunting experience, this is where young people leave friends behind
and teachers that have played an important role in their lives to now go onto to build new
relationships with friends and teachers. The objective of this is to explore the experience of two
Asian young men who attend a main stream schooland how the recognition of themselves can affect
their achievement whilst at School.
This research was carried out at XXXXX XXXXX High School is in a deprived area Smethwick
Sandwell.
As this setting is my current place of work, the School is a very multicultural environment with
prominently Asian young people alongside Polish, Russian, Kurdish and a lot more diverse young
people. The School ensure that students are given the best education possible. In 2013 Ofsted stated,
The good relationships between teachers and students ensure that there is an environment in which
students can enjoy their lessons.
The School provide a number of facilities to enable that these young people get the most out of
education such as English as and Additional Language (EAL) provision for young people where
English is not their first language, Special Educational Needs (SEN) and this provision comes in
different forms such as having Learning support within the classrooms,

Stuffed And Starved Summary
Due to reading Stuffed and Starved by Raj Patel this semester, I learned about how foods are
produced and impact the world. Ever since I visited the farmer s market in October, I became
more aware of whether or not I am consuming genetically modified crops. Raj Patel revealed
some of the many truths about the Green Revolution regarding genetically modified crops that
influenced my choice of eating. Prior to reading the section of the book that made me aware of
what I am eating, I believed that genetically modified crops were more beneficial than harmful to
everyone. Not only did the genetically modified crops produce a higher yield to feed people, but
the negative impact of technology outweighed its benefit. For example, Patel states, domestic...

The myth indicates that first year college students either gain fifteen pound from eating unhealthy
or lose fifteen pounds due to not eating during their first years in college. We are all encouraged to
take health class in college and learn about nutrients, but we can barely apply our knowledge to
campus food. Cal Poly Pomona provides various options for food around campus, but not every
dining space is healthy. As diligent students around campus, I believe the campus should improve
its dining options. The common phrase: You are what you eat is highly emphasized in health
class. I suggest the replacement of Round Table Pizza with healthier local restaurants that will
serve students. Our campus does not serve fish to its students, but fish is high in Omega 3 fatty
acids which boost body and brain functions. As students visually see the implementation of
healthy food alternatives on campus, they will apply the knowledge from health class upon their
diets. In health class, we were instructed to track our diets with the MyPlate. Through my food
tracking on the website, I learned what food groups I was overeating and others that I was under
eating. This website mapped out my goals for dairy, fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates, calories and
sugars intakes which enabled me to visualize my diet. I would suggest that Cal Poly Pomona

The History of Nana Rao Park, Kanpur in India
Kanpur is a historical city and is believed to have been founded by members of the Chandela
dynasty and formed part of the state of Sachendi. The city s name is believed to derive from
Kanhiyapur (from the Hindi meaning town of Kanhaiya ). During the British era the name got
transformed to Cawnpore, and hence the city got its current name KANPUR. As an important city in
the Chandela dynasty, the city has a number of places of historical importance. The historical
ruins of the places help prove the city s existence to the era of pre 13th Century. Nana Rao Park
is the perfect place for nature lovers, longing to spend their time close to nature, away from the
hum drum and pollution of the city. The park is named after Nana Rao Peshwa, the legendary
figure who actively participated in the first War of independence or Sepoy mutiny in 1857.
The history of Nana Rao Park dates back to India s first war of the independence, fought in 1857.
This park was named after Nana Rao Peshwa who fought like a brave warrior in India s struggle
for independence.During the Siege of Cawnpore, Nana Sahib had negotiated surrender from the
300 British soldiers and their families in exchange for their safe passage to Allahabad. On the
morning of June 27, a large British column led by General Wheeler made their way to the banks
of the river Ganga where Nana Sahib had arranged 40 boats for their journey. Since it was the

Why Timing Is Important
Personal injuries happen to people all the time on the job or in their private life. For example, an
individual might work at a high traffic construction job that has a lot of people, tools, and
vehicles around the grounds. They slip on a neglected box or trip over tools at the site, and they
suffer a serious injury. Perhaps, an individual goes shopping at a large mall. They slip on a floor
that was recently waxed and injure their ankle. Often, the individual is confused. Should they sue?
Should they hire a lawyer? The fact is that they ve suffered a slip an fall along with serious injury.
It is important to hire legal representation as soon as possible to receive the benefits they deserve.

fact is that insurance companies have high powered legal representation. An individual without
any type of legal representation is going to lose out to the insurance companies legal team. An
attorney is equipped to deal with high powered legal representatives and settle a personal injury
case successfully. Prove Negligence The legal system is very complicated. Certainly, it is very
difficult for the average individual that is involved with a personal injury case to prove
negligence on their own. A legal professional has the experience, skills, and training to identify
negligence in a case. For example, you know that you tripped over tools at a work site. The other
legal team might accuse the person filing the claim of negligence. For example, they ignored
warning signs at the site or they were texting on a phone and didn t look around the work site.
Their accusations might dramatically affect the outcome of a case. A legal professional will help

Essay on Abortion, Pope John Paul II and Peter Singer
Abortion, Pope John Paul II and Peter Singer
Abortion is one of the most controversial issues today. It has become a question of not only ethics,
but morals. In the 1973 case of Roe v Wade the Supreme Court ruled that a woman has the right to
terminate a pregnancy by abortion within the first six months of the pregnancy. However,
conservative Presidents have changed the legislation enough to allow states to restrict abortion in
various ways (Practical Ethics, Peter Singer). In the following paper, I will summarize the views on
abortion of Pope John Paul II and philosopher, Peter Singer. These two men have very conflicting
opinions about abortion.

The way of death is this: ... they kill their children and by abortion cause God s creatures to
parish ... they are filled with sin. As time goes on, the Church will continue to teach the
undeniable value on the first commandment. Even in the first centuries, murder was considered
one of the three most serious sins. This should not come as a surprise. To kill something that
was created by, and in the image of, God should be considered a serious sin. The most important
case involving the first commandment of You shall not kill is when it refers to innocent human
beings. This is especially so when it refers to defenseless, weak, human beings such as an unborn
child or infant. The taking of an innocent life, especially at it s beginning or end, is gravely
immoral. This direct and voluntary action will always be regarded as morally evil and can never
be considered as necessary, either as an end, or as means to a good end. Nothing and no none can
in any way permit the killing of an innocent human being, whether a fetus or an embryo, and infant
of an adult ... no one is permitted to ask for this act of killing, either for him/herself or for another
person entrusted to his or her care ... Nor can any authority legitimately recommend or permit such

Absurdism In Endgame

the absurd plays.
Hamm and Clov fulfill the role of the master servant relationship or oppressor and the oppressed

only to be cursed by their insensitive son.
In the play, Hamm is confined to wheelchair and he is totally dependent on Clov for move,
likewise Clov reluctantly tries to do what Hamm orders him as there is a shortage of food outside
of their shelter and Hamm is the only one who knows the combination of the locked cupboard.

Moreover, two plays resemble in terms of Hamm s unceasing pleas for painkiller and Garcin s
frequent insistence for silence (Sartre, 1989: 17, 36, 39,49).
The struggle for catching and killing the flea both by Hamm and by Clov is another absurdist
element in Endgame.
Hamm and Clov fear that this small insect may give way to a kind of evolution from which a
potential humanity, civilization can restart: Hamm and Clov s attempts to prevent the emergence of
humanity may either arise from the assumption that humanity will again be subject to suffering or
once humanity emerge, human beings will treat one another inhumanly and oppress each other
hence they will put another layer on to the unbearable side of the world.
Clov, who is aware of the absurdity of close inspection of time, gets angry with Hamm that insists
Clov to pinpoint the time he oiled the castors of Hamm s wheelchair: CLOV: (Violently) That
means that bloody awful day, long ago, before this bloody awful day.
Clov philosophizes on the nature of time and the meaning of words; consequently he hints that if
life has no meaning, Hamm his benefactor or stepfather in this case or somebody (may be a
transcendental entity that is responsible for the mess and absurdity) must teach human beings the
meaning of life and put everything into order from the

Analysis of Pricing and Model Strategies at Cambridge...
Analysis of Pricing and Model Strategies at Cambridge Software Introduction The purpose of
this analysis is to evaluate if Cambridge Software Corporation should offer only one version of it
Modeler software application, and if so, which version at which specific price. A second
objective of this analysis is to define how many potentially different versions of the Model that
CSC should offer, and at which prices. This analysis is heavily based on the concepts of pricing
elasticity and the various approaches for measuring the value of software in both enterprises
and educational institutions (Cusumano, 2007). Analysis of Cambridge Software Modeler
Optimal Version and Price Given the highly unique and differentiated aspect of the Modeler
application, its price needs to be based more on the value delivered, not just on the costs in time
and labor to produce. The arguments and assumptions made by the members of the Cambridge
team in the case for choosing a penetration pricing strategy are erroneous. As research of value
based pricing strategies indicates, the greater the value delivered by a given application or
element of intellectual property, the higher the level of value and corresponding price that can be
attained (Bala, Carr, 2009). This first foundational element of pricing needs to guide Cambridge s
decision of which application to offer and at what price. Second, enterprise software in highly
specific niches or areas of the market trend to be more inelastic to

Roe V. Wade Analysis
I. Introduction This paper will look at arguments that scholars, especially Catherine MacKinnon and
Reva Siegel, offer in support of the view that the principle of equal protection is better than the
Supreme Court s principle of privacy related liberty as the constitutional grounds for abortion rights.
The United States Supreme Court held in Roe v. Wadethat the right of privacy also includes a
woman s right to get an abortion. Abortion policy involves women s privacy and equality (Siegel
1992). A constitutional analysis of abortion that draws on the language from the Fourteenth
Amendment of liberty and equal protection would work well with the reality that many of the key

Wade decision inspires many types of analyses, solutions, and criticisms. One solution is that the
Court could shift its focus in abortion cases and view abortion rights as raising issues of
inequality. This would mean to present the issue of a woman s right to take complete charge of
her life and destiny as well as of her position in society in relation to man. This approach is
probably the most appropriate solution to the dilemma in Roe because it avoids the trimester

till December 2005. Then we will gather weekly information of Consumer Price Index (CPI) for
both countries during the same span. CPI measures the change in prices for common household
goods over time. The data can be collected from Websites like bls.gov. We will then put all this
information together in a spreadsheet format like for example: YEN/$Japan CPIU.S. CPI Now we
have to calculate the inflation rate of both countries using the CPI index. To calculate the inflation
rate we have to

To What Extent Can There Be If A Baking Soda Is...
Question What will the outcome be if the amount of baking soda is substituted with an equal
amount of baking powder in a standard chocolate chip cookie?
Knowledge Probe
Scientific Knowledge:
From previous experiences with baking cookies we are aware that if you accidentally use baking
powder instead of soda, the cookies will increase in thickness and will result in a sponge like
texture.
Baking soda and baking powder are similar, but have different reactions to the ingredients in
baking cookies. Baking soda is also known as sodium bicarbonate, and once it meets heat, carbon
dioxide is formed. The carbon dioxide is what gives rise to cookies and other baked goods. Baking
powder, on the other hand, is a mixture of baking soda, powdered acid, and cornstarch (Baking

We concluded that only one trial is not sufficient enough to provide an accurate claim. It is not
accurate because no measurement is precise so Byars cookie compared to ours will be different.
By conducting more than one trial we would have many of the same cookies to compare their
general features to Byars cookie. It would be easier to tell if in fact Byars did substitute baking
powder for baking soda or if he did not.
Errors that could not be eliminated includes the fact that measurements are not precise, and the
varying temperatures of the oven used. Because measurements are not precise, it is very unlikely
that two cookies will be exactly the same, making it harder to reach an accurate claim. During the
experiment we discovered that the oven had been set to a lower temperature than the 375В° F
specified in the procedures. This caused cookies to become undercooked without realizing is as to
the fact we were following the procedure of leaving the cookie in only for nine to eleven minutes.

Weight Loss In America
Internet Activity #11 Weight loss is a large problem in America, since most Americans are
overweight or obese. There are a number of reasons that losing weight can be a challenge. There
are many possible reasons for people to start dieting, ranging from health reasons to outside
influences. There was a study done on men to see how changing their diet would affect their
personalities. During this study, they were given normal amounts of food while their personalities
were studied, then compared to their personalities when the amount of food was cut in half. The
study shows that extreme emotional agitation occurs when food is withdrawn. The men in the
study became less social, and more obsessed with food. They talked about it more, daydreamt about
it more, and even wanted to learn about cooking. These men also showed signs of depression and
anxiety. Although many cheated during the experiment, they felt guilty about it. After the study
was done, some of the men kept in touch with the researchers. Many of them had newly started to
worry about their body shape and size. After their restricted diets were over the... Show more

Many of the commercials, shows, and advertisements we see have something to do with weight.
Celebrities are on the front page of a magazine every time they gain a few pounds, and there are
weight loss commercials on during almost every television show. With all of the outside pressure
to tell you to be skinny, people can be easily influenced. However, all of this pressure can be too
much, and dieting and weight loss can go too far. Eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia
can arise when people take their weight loss goals too far. People that have these kinds of
disorders tend to see themselves as fat or weighing too much, even if they are severely
underweight. A person s mental image of their body size can have a large effect on their eating and
dieting habits, whether it be good or

Emergency Room Deductibles
Are Emergency Room Visits Tax Deductible There are numerous tax deductibles in the USA.
When filing tax returns, it is advisable to take advantage of these tax deductions because they will

People Think, Communicate, And Behave
Sick Leave Cultural profoundly influences how people think, communicate, and behave, (Lewicki,
Saunders, Barry, 2010). This impact is heightened when you involve cultures that are of extreme
opposites in customs and traditions in which the cultures govern themselves upon. The dilemma
between Kelly and Mr. Higashi is an example of two cultures melding together, with different
agendas and expectations. While both parties desire the same outcome from the program in which
they are hired for, their cultural background and the vast difference in experience drives a very
delicate and tense working environment. Conflict arises regarding the work schedule and the
differences that each cultureis familiar with regarding their work culture, along with gender
equality concerns. Additionally these conflicts are fueled by the convergence of traditions over
laws and the way in which one culture is raised. In America it is our culture to work a standard 40
hour work week. Any hours in excess of this are compensated heavily. It is a law that has become
our cultural norm, so much so that when it is expressed that someone is working overtime, it is
often met with empathy. The contract of employee and employer in America is perceived as a
mutual contract with at will to terminate by either party at any time. In Japan, there are no laws
that govern a workday; rather it is their cultural norm to provide their employer with as much of
their time as possible, out of respect and gratitude

The Film M By Fritz Lang
We Are the Criminal
There are instances in life in which we must accept things that are beyond our control and
understanding. In the film M by Fritz Lang we are thrust into a situation of that exact caliber.
The story tells of a man named Hans Beckert, who appears to be an average man by day. We first
meet the character as a shadow and all that we hear is a whistle as he approaches a child which
was left alone. Once the news is out about the missing child the town erupts in chaos, everybody
seems to have their own theory about who this criminal is. Even the gangsters of the city have to
participate in the manhunt in order to restore their normal criminal activity, they even stage a court
room in which they plan on prosecuting Mr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interesting thing in this film is that it doesn t seem to bother the other citizens that these
gangsters are out doing whatever they please. The number of different crimes committed in the
manhunt was much larger than Mr. Beckert had committed himself. They first forced themselves
into the premise of the storage facility Mr. Beckert was hiding in. They then beat and bound the
guards and destroyed a huge amount of property in the process.
Foucault gives a fairly good explanation stating that these terrible crimes are crimes against nature
(pg. 5). These crimes are so heinous that something within ourselves knows that the crime is wrong.
These crimes carry with them an aura of disgust, instead of a feeling of sorrow. He goes on to say
that the individual in whom insanity and criminality met in such a way as to cause specialists to
raise the question of their relationship, was not the man of the little everyday disorder, the pale
silhouette moving about on the edges of law and morality, but rather the great monster (pg. 5).
What he means by this is that the criminals he describes as dangerous individuals are not the same
as the everyday criminals, these are somehow much worse.
There are certain characteristics that Foucault attributes to his idea of the dangerous individual. He
starts by stating Garofalo s principal in which he

5-Htpr Case Study
Question: Does 5 HTTLPR moderate the effect it has on stressful life events (victimization)
differently depending on gender?
Importance: In Benjet et al. s study (2010), the investigators state that the results of the interaction
of the 5 HTTLPR and environmental variables for adolescent boys have been inconsistent. The
research on adolescent girls though has been the opposite, as results have been more definitive.
Since there have been inconsistencies in the literature for adolescent boys between the moderation
of 5 HTTLPR and other factors, there is a need for more research to be done on this group of
children to better understand how depression symptoms are developed on boys and to investigate
whether adolescent boys that have 2 short alleles (s/s) have a genetic vulnerability like their female
counterparts do. This would also help in creating preventative measures for male adolescents if they
do have this genetic vulnerability and if they do not, maybe there is some other factor that could be
moderating depression on adolescent boys more than adolescent girls.
Answer: I do not think that 5 HTTLPR has different moderating effects because if it did, there
should be more conclusive results. What I think could be driving these inconsistencies is social
stigma. Adolescent girls tend to report higher levels of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Research Paper On Keivlar
Properties of Kevlar:
Kevlar is an organic fiber that has both high tensile strength and thermal stability. Tensile strength is
strength in terms of pulling forces. Its high tensile strength comes from its chemical structure.
Kevlar s chemical structure arranges itself in a straight line and form extra hydrogen bonds
between there links. This is depicted in the image below:
The line structure that Kevlar compounds show is called nematic behavior. Nematic behavior just
means that the elements all line up in the same direction. Liquid crystals also demonstrate nematic
behavior and it is due to this that Kevlar is so strong. While Kevlar does demonstrate high tensile
strength, it lacks compressive strength. Compressive strength is in terms ... Show more content on

have its limits when it comes to protection from ballistics. Kevlar vests do a good job at providing
protection from rounds coming from a handgun except if protection is required from something

Californian Sea Lions have roamed the docks of San Francisco, California for over 25 years

Sea Lions began hauling out on Pier 39 s K Dock; and by January of 1890, the K Dock was
flooded by the marine animals. Since then, the numbers of Sea Lions only grew, and the

Grapheme Color Synesthesia
Synesthesia was discovered back in the 1880s when Francis Galton described a condition where
he thinks of numbers in visual imagery, which is known as synesthesia today. Synesthesia is the
experience in which a stimulation of one sense triggers an additional sensory experience (Rothen
Mejer, 2010). In other words, it is a condition where the senses are cross linked, and the experience
is automatic and reliable (Rich, Bradshaw, Mattingley, 2005). A common type of synesthesia
is
called the grapheme colorsynesthesia, which is when people experience seeing colors when they
come across any letters or numbers even though the font color is black. For instance, the letter A to

The encoded stimulus is richer for synesthetes compared to people without synesthesia. Also
there is a performance advantage when the subjects recall the spoken or written words (Gross,
Neargarder, Caldwell Harris Cronin Golomb, 2011; Rothen Ward, 2012). In Gross et al. s (2011)
study, they recruited nine color graphemic synesthetes using a standardized neuropsychological
measure that would trigger color graphemic synesthesia for verbal tasks. One verbal test that
they used was the Paired Verbal Associates test. For this test, participants were to learn eight
pairs of standard shapes and nonsense shapes. Some trials had immediate recall or a 30 minute
delay. In all trials, the synesthetic participants recalled the standard shape when presented with
the nonsense shape. This test was altered to reduce potential differences between the participant s
synesthesia and the colors, by exchanging the colored squares with the line drawings of familiar
shapes. A one way ANOVA was conducted for each trial. It revealed that all synesthetes reached
ceiling on trial 3 and 4 (M=5.0 +/ 1.7), while none of the control participants reached ceiling (M=
2.89 +/ 2.2). Their results were very similar to Rothen and Meier s (2010) results. For the most part,
their findings supported the cue induced encoding/retrieval hypothesis. Significant results were

Content validity measures the extent to which the test measures what it says it will measure. To
ensure the WPPSI IV had sufficient content validity, expert panels reviewed each revision of
individual items and subtests at each stage of the development process. Furthermore, literature
reviews were conducted, which yielded lengthy explanations of the construct each subtest was
designed to measure (Syeda Climie, 2014; Wechsler, 2012b). Test administrators interviewed
individuals who had common incorrect responses and asked them to explain their problem solving
process. Utilizing the feedback from the examinees, the test developers altered items to decrease the
likelihood of these common incorrect responses (Syeda Climie, 2014). Pearson provided adequate

Financial Intermediation and Economic Development in Nigeria
Abstract
Financial intermediation is an important activity in the economy because it allows funds to be
channeled from people who might otherwise not put them to productive use to people who will
ultimately put the funds to productive uses. In line with the assumption that banking sector plays
an important role in financing the investment projects, successive governments in Nigeria have
carried out reforms and institutional innovations in the banking sector. The overall intention of
these reforms has been to ensure financial stability so as to influence the growth of the economy
and also enhance banks to play a critical role of financial intermediation in Nigeria. However,
despite the fact that Nigerian banks have undergone series of ... Show more content on

The efficiency and effectiveness of financial intermediation in any economy depend critically on the
level of development of the country s financial system. In effect, the underdeveloped nature of the
financial system in most developing countries accounts largely for the relative inefficiency of
financial intermediation in those economies. In these countries the financial system is dominated
by banks, which are typically oligopolistic in structure and tend to concentrate on short term lending
as against investments with long term gestation period. The alternative/complementary source for
financing development projects is the development of debt or equity markets which at best, is at the
rudimentary stage of development. It is in this regard that specialized financial institutions,
including government owned development banks have been established in Nigeria to bridge the gap.
The principal function of deposit money banks is the mobilization of savings for investment. The
importance of banks in generating growth within an economy has been widely acknowledged, for
example Schumpeter (1932) cited in Blum, Federmair, Fink, and Haiss (2002) identified bank s role
in facilitating technological innovation through their intermediary role. Schumpeter

Capek Last Judgement
Literary Analysis on Karel Capek s The Last Judgement Singer Little Richard said, Greed has
taken the whole universe, and nobody is worried about their soul. This quote brings light to the
issue where people become too consumed by their greed and wants and do not realize what it
does to them emotionally and morally. This corruption of the soul can be displayed in Karel
Capek s short story The Last Judgement. Capek s short story The Last Judgement showcases that
one must be careful not to become greedy when trying to protect his or her self through Kugler s
characterization. Karel Capek s short story follows the final judgement of a criminal named Kugler
that has killed many people during his lifetime. After he himself is killed, Kugler... Show more

God describes one of Kugler s murders, saying, He killed them with an axe and found only
sixteen dollars (Capek). As God said earlier, people have reasons for their crimes. Kugler s
reason here is his selfish desire for wealth. It is clear that all he wanted was the money and was
not killing just for the sake of killing because of how the fact of the murder is immediately
followed by how he only found sixteen dollars. This shows Kugler was looking for more than
such a small amount of money. And as if stealing is not greedy enough, he could have simply
robbed the couple but chose to kill them as well. This reinforces his lack of respect for others
lives and how he puts his interests first. And after Kugler is told that the couple he murdered had
more money hidden away, Capek writes, So it was in the mattress, Kugler whispered in
amazement (Capek). This quote continues to prove Kugler s desire for wealth through his
fascination at discovering that he could have gotten more money from the people he murdered.
It is selfish and greedy enough to murder people instead of robbing them for only sixteen dollars,
but for him to still be unsatisfied with the amount of money he received shows how greedy of a
character Kugler is. This is because his desire for wealth is intense as displayed by his reaction
and murdering people for their money is selfish. Through Kugler s intense desire for wealth, Capek
continues to show us how greed can affect a

Gunpowder Plot History
On November 5, 1605 a crisis was averted. Robert Catesby and his followers had hatched a plan
to blow up the House of the Lords while Parliament was in session. In doing so, they would kill
the king and his officials and establish a Catholic monarchy in the resulting chaos. This would be
known in later years as the Gunpowder Plot(Sommerville, The Gunpowder Plot. ). One of the most
well known plotters, Guy Fawkes, fought for the Spanish Catholics in the 1590s. During this time,
he learned how to mine or dig passages underground to destroy enemy sites with explosives. This
skill later helped the plotters figure out how to ignite the gunpowder. However, before the plotters
could set off their gunpowder, Baron Monteagle received a letter advising him against attending the
Parliament meeting for God and man have concurred to punish the wickedness of this time (qtd. in

Spiderman was the best superhero of the 1960s. FIrst of all, Spider Man is relatable because he

Furthermore, Spider Man had a cartoon and most superheroes don t, he also got it in a

But then a superheronames Spider Man was made in 1963 and it took comic book fans by

Taoism By Lao Tzu
Anette Dopico
PHI 2010
Professor Jacob
March 18, 2018
Taoism is a philosophy which also means a way of life. Lao Tzu started this, he lived a little
before Confucius, about 600 BC. Tao means the path or way . Lao Tzu worked as a a record
keeper. He believed that happiness was for people to just go with the flow , meaning to let things go
about on their own rather than forcing the situations. According to Confucius, each person should
act with virtue in all social matters; family, community, state, and kingdom, to ensure unity. Lao
Tzu thought it was extremely wrong for people to fight in wars. He was also extremely against a
government making up rules and regulations on how people should do things in their life. Taoism is
against anything with certain regulations, even a food diet.
Lao Tzu thinks people should make their own decisions in situations that they experience in life.
To follow Taoism is to understand who you are yourself and everything else will come naturally.
By doing nothing one could accomplish everything. Don t go against what you have been faced,
instead go through it and learn from it, and never force anything because by doing that, you are
not doing anything good for yourself. Another key point of Tzu s writing is: we need to be in
touch with our real selves. We spend a great deal of time worrying ... Show more content on

Lao Tzu liked to compare people to certain parts of nature or virtues. There are almost half a
billion of Daoist s in the world. Lao Tzu s philosophy is all about learning how to live with
harmony. We have to make more time for ourselves, we have to worry less about the world and
experience the world more to be able to take it all in. Certain things happen on their own and
cannot be forced, like grieving gaining knowledge, developing relationships. Lao Tzu says we
cannot be too preoccupied with anxiety and worries because we will miss many opportunities and
experiences that life has to

Improving Personal Oral Communication
As I have gained more knowledge and have become more familiarized with how auditing works, I
believe since my midterm reflection my oral communication has been well received by the
audience. I was able improve on my articulation with technical accounting terms and the feedback I
received on my listening and oral communicationwas positive with minor areas of improvement.
Personal Oral Communication Question
Question: What are some observations that you have made from other people you worked with that
will be beneficial to improving your oral communication?
Response: Some observations that I made during the second half of my co op terms were the non
verbal features and vocal aspects of oral communication. From observing my manager on my
biggest real estate client, I noticed he was excellent at maintaining eye contact with the client which
showed that he was engaged in the conversation at all times. In ... Show more content on

The reason why this class was the most valuable was because it taught me different techniques of
communication and to be aware of the bad habits that I was having. It was also taught in a small,
comfortable environment of 30 students which gave me more confidence to participate, thus
giving me more opportunities to practice speaking in front of other individuals. In addition, in
SPCOM111 we had to do an individual presentation on a topic of our choice. This was a
memorable experience because it forced me to get out of my comfort zone and to present in front
of 30 students, what I learned from this experience was to be confident in myself and that it will
show in my oral communication. Overall, the takebacks from this experience was improvement in
my confidence in public speaking, different skills on how to communicate effectively in the work
place as well as the knowledge to consciously make an effort to break bad habits when

Buddhism And Buddhism In Japan
Since people were born in Japan, they have always lived with goods and events related to
Buddhism, but they have not realized the existence of them. Regarding the worldwide view, there
are many customs, rituals, foods, and culture all over the world. Japan also has religion, but some
people say that Japan has no clear religion when they argue about that. However, is it true? In fact,
Buddhism has close relationships with Japanese lives. There are three reasons why Japanese
people are religious are rooted in Buddhism.
Some people say that Buddhism has no relationships in Japanese lives today, but actually, there are
many high points related to Buddhism and Shinto. Japan has two major regions, Shinto and
Buddhism. Shinto has a longer history than Buddhism, while Buddhism was imported from the
Asian continent to Japan in the 6th century. Shinto is believed to have developed from animism.

Shinto shrines are places of worship. Japanese people visit there to feel respect for the god or
praying for good fortune. Torii and komainu, the equipment of shrines, have meanings related to
Buddhism and Shinto. It is also important to know how to visit temples and shrines. When Japanese
visit a temple, they should behave calmly and respectfully. It is essential to show their respect to
pray in front of the sacred object. When entering temple buildings, they may be demanded to take
off their shoes because the owners of the buildings think the buildings are sanctuary places. How to
visit shrines is almost same as how to visit temples. However, that there is a purification fountain in
the shrine differs from the temple. When Japanese pass the entrance of the shrine, they may fill the
water with their hands and cleanse their hands both. They are not permitted to swallow the water
from the purification fountain

Informative Essay On John Deere Tractors
I m going to be telling about how people found out about John Deere Tractors.
Everyone that has a yard to mow or ever drove past a farm knows what a John Deere tractor
looks like. You don t have to be a farmer to recognize the green tractor with the yellow lettering as
a John Deere. These tractors are so well built and designed that television commercials say
Nothing runs like a Deere . However, few of us may know the life story behind the man John
Deere who invented the design of the simple farm plow and in doing so started a company that
would create farm products used and recognized throughout the globe.
I m going to be telling how John Deere Lived.
John Deere was born on February 4, 1804 in Vermont. His parents William and Sarah Deere.
They were tailors that had immigrated to Vermont from England. Life was hard for the Deere
family when their blacksmith business slowed in 1808. John s dad took a trip back to his home
country in hopes of finding a better life for his family. Unfortunately, Mr. Deere did not return
from England and no one ever found out what happened to him. John was only four years old . As
a young boy, John spent a lot of time outside a blacksmith shop in his hometown dreaming that he
would one day become a blacksmith. At the age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Farmers across the Midwest raved about John s new plow. His plow helped farmers throughout the
Midwest be successful at farming. In 1838, John sent word his business had grown so much that he
had to relocate the John Deere Company to Moline, Illinois. As usual, John s curious mind made
him experiment with other farm tools such as the steam plow, cultivators, planters, and a grain drill.
(Just like his re designed steel plow these additional tools became important to farmers.) On each of
the tools, the name John Deere stood out boldly. Through hard work and imagination, the company
being the name John Deere became a leading manufacturer of equipment used by

The Discovery Of The Deinonychus Dinosaur
Deinonychus were discovered during the time period of Early Cretaceous, which was between
110 to 115 million years ago. When deinonychus were discovered, paleontologists started to
reconsider how dinosaurs lived. Deinonychus name comes from terrible claw (prehistoric Beast of
the Week, 2015). This name was given because it was believed that deinonychus were active
dinosaurs all year round (Blagic 2016). The discovery of the deinonychus dinosaurwas out of the
ordinary. These features that the deinonychus had was never seen before in any other type of
dinosaur. This dinosaur was intelligent, fast, had claws that could slash a prey bigger than itself,
and the hands could grasp the prey (Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History,
Barnum Brown first discovered Deinonychus between 1931 1932. He found the Deinonychus
bones. He collected their bones and body parts, like the hands and feet from Crow Indian
Reservation. Soon after when Brown died, John Ostrom took over and began the discovery again.
He made his way to Montana to rediscover Deinonychus in 1969. Ostrom found that deinonychus
were much smaller than its cousin Tyrannosaurus Rex. Deinonychus weighed around 50 100 kilos.
(Lowell Dingus and Timothy Rowe, New York, W. H. Freeman and Co., 1998). A lot of
information was found about this one particular dinosaur, which leads to many hypothesis and
experiments. The discovery of the features of a deinonychus dinosaur gives us insights to the
feeding behavior it retains and how

  • 2. Carol Ann Duffy Poems Analysis Originally Introduction Memories play a significant role in the poetry of Carol Ann Duffy, particularly her recollections of childhood places and events. The poem Originally, published in The Other Country (1990), draws specifically from memories of Duffy s family s move from Scotland to England when she and her siblings were very young. The first born child, Duffy was just old enough to feel a deep sense of personal loss and fear as she traveled farther and farther away from the only place she had known as home and the family neared its alien destination. This sentiment is captured in Originally, in which it is described in the rich detail and defining language of both the child who has had the experience and the adult who recalls... The unfamiliar, snowy weather and artificial neon lights create the impression for the immigrant that the country moved to is coming to bits . This image of fragmentation is, though, not entirely imaginary as he or she has a life splintered from all that is familiar and constantly experiences a sense of alienation. The italicised words at the close of the poem give voice to the immigrant but this only gives away a difficulty with English. The unfinished verbs, Me not know and It like they only... are drawn attention to by Duffy in order that the reader may ponder what it would be like to face the same language problem. The final words of the poem, Imagine that remind us of the opening and there is quite a clear impression that Duffy is adopting an undisguised didactic stance. As a skilled and empowered user of the English language herself she is drawing attention to the lot of those who are marginalised because of their deficiency in its use. Victimized ata young age with stories about a sandman; he later comes to believe that his father s work friendCoppelius is the Sandman. After the death of his father, Nathaniel blames Coppelius and tries toseek him out for revenge. His significance to the story is shown through his behavior, words, andinteractions with other characters. This characters importance is also in his insanity, whichmanifests itself throughout the story. The story opens up with a letter from him to his lover s brother, Lothaire. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From childhood, Nathaniel was plaguedby horrific stories of a sandman and then his father dies terribly with the person, who he believesto be the Sandman, there. This made his mindset fragile and more susceptible to delusions andevents that would seem like a Sandman was behind them. After Nathaniel awakens from his insanity episode, he appeared relatively normal for alittle while. He even appears rational enough to admit he was not well before to his friendSigismund. Heavens, brother, I was in an evil way, but a good angel led me betimes on to thepath of light! Ah, that was Clara (Hoffman 10)! If Nathaniel was insane before in the story, thisis one of the few times he seems level headed. A madman would not admit to being in an evilway; a madman would think that his actions were in the right and normal. The rationality ofNathaniel does not last, however, and all it takes to drive him back over the deep end is areminder of the man who has troubled his thoughts since childhood. One of the best examples ofa rational person in this story would be Clara. She is rational because she believes in fact andlogic. In her eyes, after reading Nathaniel s first letter, it is all in Nathaniel s head. Her reasoningis based on the psychological compared to what happened to Nathaniel as a child. The reminder of Coppelius is in the telescope given to him by Coppola. Nathaniel reliveshis watching of Olympia through glancing Clara in the telescope. Then he sprang high into theair and punctuating his words with horrible laughter, he shrieked out in a piercing tone, Spinround, wooden doll! Spin round! Then seizing Clara with immense force, he tried to hurl herdown (Hoffman 10). • 5. Deforestation And Its Effects On Deforestation Essay Deforestation is the act of cutting or burning down all of the trees in an area. The original area covered by forests was approximately six billion hectares, however the total area of land covered by forests today is only four billion hectares. The issue is only expanding, and its challenges are becoming tougher every day. In fact, approximately sixteen million hectares of forestdisappear each year. Forests cover more than twenty five percent of the world s land, and more than half of that is found in the tropics. Deforestation has been around for more than five decades, and humanity has only just begun to find the causes of the problem. Forests cover approximately thirty percent of the world s land. Deforestation represents one of the world s largest issues in global land usage. In fact, humans are one of the biggest influences for deforestation. Farmers use a method known as the slash and burn process to cut down trees and grow their crops in the soil fertilized by the ashes. Many people use commercial logging, a process in which trees are trimmed and transported in order to build mills, by chopping down vast areas of forest for profit. Wildfires and overgrazing are also large issues that contribute to deforestation. This leaves the forest vulnerable to many global and environmental consequences. Everyday carbon dioxide is returned to the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas when trees are burned, and this has great potential to alter the global climate. As a result, there ... Impact Of Ecosystem On The Deepwater Horizon Spill The oil and refined products are a mixture of various hydrocarbons and other compounds whose physical and chemical properties vary; during an oil spill, the composite determines the behavior and impact on the environmental elements such as physical, biological, ecosystem, and the economical impact. During this Case Study I will continue to discuss the characteristics of each affected ecosystem including organisms commonly found in the Deepwater Horizon Spill affected area, potential threats based on their relative location to the spill, and the economic impact of damages in these communities. Main Body During the Deepwater Horizon Oil spill an estimated five million barrels of oil was released into the sea. The BP oil spill is the largest chemical dispersants in marine waters in US history. The oil slick affected the states of Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana the spill impacted more than 110 kilometers from the coast of Louisiana. Other affected are outside the US was the coasts of Mexico and Cuba. Understanding various ecosystems allow us to better understand the impact in which the Deepwater Horizon Spill had within each type of ecosystem. The oil spill affected three specific types of ecosystems including the coastal, freshwater, and the upland areas. Wetland plants are called hydrophytes; in the past wetlands had been viewed as wasted land, fortunately scientists have realized that wetlands have a tremendous value to our ecosystem. The movie successfully portrays how love turns into obsession, how fear leads these characters into different madness, by the perfect use of color, cinematography and use of characters. Color is one of the essential part of the movie. The use of color can determine various emotions in the film. It can add richness to any scene. The use of white has always shown to describe the peace and purity, whereas the red describes rage, anger and bad. Black is color of mystery usually used to show the darkness, evilness of a scene. Scottie sees Madeleine for the first time in the restaurant wearing a dark greencolor dress which makes her focus among the other people. Scottie starts feeling something her, next day again when he follows her, Madeleine drives green car which again tries to state that she is the main focus. Riviera s murals are rich in archeological detail and painted in sharply outlined , linear style. Cal Poly Pomona provides various options for food around campus, but not every dining space is healthy. As diligent students around campus, I believe the campus should improve its dining options. The common phrase: You are what you eat is highly emphasized in health class. I suggest the replacement of Round Table Pizza with healthier local restaurants that will serve students. Our campus does not serve fish to its students, but fish is high in Omega 3 fatty acids which boost body and brain functions. As students visually see the implementation of healthy food alternatives on campus, they will apply the knowledge from health class upon their diets. It has become a question of not only ethics, but morals. However, conservative Presidents have changed the legislation enough to allow states to restrict abortion in various ways (Practical Ethics, Peter Singer). As time goes on, the Church will continue to teach the undeniable value on the first commandment. Even in the first centuries, murder was considered one of the three most serious sins. This should not come as a surprise. To kill something that was created by, and in the image of, God should be considered a serious sin. The most important case involving the first commandment of You shall not kill is when it refers to innocent human beings. This is especially so when it refers to defenseless, weak, human beings such as an unborn child or infant. The taking of an innocent life, especially at it s beginning or end, is gravely immoral. This direct and voluntary action will always be regarded as morally evil and can never be considered as necessary, either as an end, or as means to a good end. Analysis of Pricing and Model Strategies at Cambridge Software Introduction The purpose of this analysis is to evaluate if Cambridge Software Corporation should offer only one version of it Modeler software application, and if so, which version at which specific price. A second objective of this analysis is to define how many potentially different versions of the Model that CSC should offer, and at which prices. This analysis is heavily based on the concepts of pricing elasticity and the various approaches for measuring the value of software in both enterprises and educational institutions (Cusumano, 2007). Analysis of Cambridge Software Modeler Optimal Version and Price Given the highly unique and differentiated aspect of the Modeler application, its price needs to be based more on the value delivered, not just on the costs in time and labor to produce. The arguments and assumptions made by the members of the Cambridge team in the case for choosing a penetration pricing strategy are erroneous. As research of value based pricing strategies indicates, the greater the value delivered by a given application or element of intellectual property, the higher the level of value and corresponding price that can be attained (Bala, Carr, 2009). This first foundational element of pricing needs to guide Cambridge s decision of which application to offer and at what price. Second, enterprise software in highly specific niches or areas of the market trend to be more inelastic to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States Supreme Court held in Roe v. Wadethat the right of privacy also includes a woman s right to get an abortion. Abortion policy involves women s privacy and equality (Siegel 1992). Relative PPP describes the difference in the rates of inflation between two nations and recalculating the exact exchange rate in which it can be hold. Say for example Japan Inflation rate is 7% compare to U.S. 5% so the goods in Japan are more expensive then U.S. but according to Relative PPP, basket of goods are suppose to cost the same in both countries. For Relative PPP to hold either U.S Dollar should increase by 2% or Japanese Yen should decrease by 2%, as a result goods in both countries would have the same cost. Thus we will try to calculate and come up with a solution which can support Relative PPP between U.S. and Japan. The following steps will help us determine our answer. We will first determine the weekly Exchange rate between U.S. and Japan in the form of Yen/Dollar for the span of 6 years, December 1999 till December 2005. Then we will gather weekly information of Consumer Price Index (CPI) for both countries during the same span. CPI measures the change in prices for common household goods over time. The data can be collected from Websites like bls.gov. We will then put all this information together in a spreadsheet format like for example: YEN/$Japan CPIU.S. CPI Now we have to calculate the inflation rate of both countries using the CPI index. To calculate the inflation rate we have to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Baking soda and baking powder are similar, but have different reactions to the ingredients in baking cookies. Baking soda is also known as sodium bicarbonate, and once it meets heat, carbon dioxide is formed. The carbon dioxide is what gives rise to cookies and other baked goods. It would be easier to tell if in fact Byars did substitute baking powder for baking soda or if he did not. Errors that could not be eliminated includes the fact that measurements are not precise, and the varying temperatures of the oven used. There are a number of reasons that losing weight can be a challenge. There are many possible reasons for people to start dieting, ranging from health reasons to outside influences. There was a study done on men to see how changing their diet would affect their personalities. During this study, they were given normal amounts of food while their personalities were studied, then compared to their personalities when the amount of food was cut in half. The study shows that extreme emotional agitation occurs when food is withdrawn. The men in the study became less social, and more obsessed with food. They talked about it more, daydreamt about it more, and even wanted to learn about cooking. These men also showed signs of depression and anxiety. Although many cheated during the experiment, they felt guilty about it. After the study was done, some of the men kept in touch with the researchers. This impact is heightened when you involve cultures that are of extreme opposites in customs and traditions in which the cultures govern themselves upon. The dilemma between Kelly and Mr. Higashi is an example of two cultures melding together, with different agendas and expectations. While both parties desire the same outcome from the program in which they are hired for, their cultural background and the vast difference in experience drives a very delicate and tense working environment. Additionally these conflicts are fueled by the convergence of traditions over laws and the way in which one culture is raised. In America it is our culture to work a standard 40 hour work week. Any hours in excess of this are compensated heavily. Importance: In Benjet et al. s study (2010), the investigators state that the results of the interaction of the 5 HTTLPR and environmental variables for adolescent boys have been inconsistent. The research on adolescent girls though has been the opposite, as results have been more definitive. Since there have been inconsistencies in the literature for adolescent boys between the moderation of 5 HTTLPR and other factors, there is a need for more research to be done on this group of children to better understand how depression symptoms are developed on boys and to investigate whether adolescent boys that have 2 short alleles (s/s) have a genetic vulnerability like their female counterparts do. In Gross et al. s (2011) study, they recruited nine color graphemic synesthetes using a standardized neuropsychological measure that would trigger color graphemic synesthesia for verbal tasks. It revealed that all synesthetes reached ceiling on trial 3 and 4 (M=5.0 +/ 1.7), while none of the control participants reached ceiling (M= 2.89 +/ 2.2). This shows Kugler was looking for more than such a small amount of money. And as if stealing is not greedy enough, he could have simply robbed the couple but chose to kill them as well. This reinforces his lack of respect for others lives and how he puts his interests first. And after Kugler is told that the couple he murdered had more money hidden away, Capek writes, So it was in the mattress, Kugler whispered in amazement (Capek). This quote continues to prove Kugler s desire for wealth through his fascination at discovering that he could have gotten more money from the people he murdered. It is selfish and greedy enough to murder people instead of robbing them for only sixteen dollars, but for him to still be unsatisfied with the amount of money he received shows how greedy of a character Kugler is. • 42. Taoism By Lao Tzu Anette Dopico PHI 2010 Professor Jacob March 18, 2018 Taoism is a philosophy which also means a way of life. Lao Tzu started this, he lived a little before Confucius, about 600 BC. Tao means the path or way . Lao Tzu worked as a a record keeper. He believed that happiness was for people to just go with the flow , meaning to let things go about on their own rather than forcing the situations. According to Confucius, each person should act with virtue in all social matters; family, community, state, and kingdom, to ensure unity. Lao Tzu thought it was extremely wrong for people to fight in wars. He was also extremely against a government making up rules and regulations on how people should do things in their life. Taoism is against anything with certain regulations, even a food diet. Lao Tzu thinks people should make their own decisions in situations that they experience in life. To follow Taoism is to understand who you are yourself and everything else will come naturally. By doing nothing one could accomplish everything. Don t go against what you have been faced, instead go through it and learn from it, and never force anything because by doing that, you are not doing anything good for yourself.
