7. Listening task (script)
My name is Vijaya. I’m 17 years old and
I’m an Indian girl. I have long beautiful
hair and I always wear a black bindi on
my forehead. I’m from Johor Bahru. My
family and I celebrate Deepavali. A few
days ago before the celebration, my
mother and I always work together to
make a kolam in front of our house.
Usually, it is a peacock-shaped kolam. We
also prepare traditional cakes and sweets
such as murukku and laddu.
8. Listening task(script)
In the morning of Deepavali, we wake
up before sunrise for our ritual oil bath
and then head to the temple to perform
our prayers. My mother and I normally
wear colourful salwar Kameez while my
father and my brother wear dhoty. After
performing our prayers, we then return
home to take family photos and
celebrate the rest of the day with our
family members and friends.
9. ACTIVITY B: SPEAKING

celebrations. Listen to how each festival is described
by your facilitator.
