Ethnic Cleansing In The Rohingya
Ethnic cleansing has not been recognized by the United Nations as an independent crime. Although, it
has been recognized as trying to rid one group of people from an area to make the other group
ethnically homogenous. To do this a group can try to promote fear in another group making them want
to leave so they do not feel safe anymore. Some of these acts can include murder, torture, rape, etc.
(Ethnic Cleansing, Un.org) This is exactly what is happening to the Rohingya in Myanmar. They are
being forced to leave their home and escape to neighboring countries because of persecution by the
primarily Buddhist, Myanmar. They are not allowed citizenship, are forced to relocate, and been
attacked by the Myanmar government on several occasions. Recent studies have shown that over
160,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar and over 1,000 have been killed, including innocent men,
women, and children. (Myanmar: Who are the Rohingya, aljezzera.com) The Rohingya have been in
Myanmar since 1982 and not only have gotten no recognition but are not even allowed citizenship.
This is turn limits them to having no power or say in Myanmar. The government made the Rohingya
get foreign identity cards. This in turn, angered many of the Rohingya for their families had been there
for generations. Some Rohingya had even served in the government prior to this. All their rights to go
to school, work, travel, etc. were prohibited because they were not able to be recognized as citizens.

Critical Analysis Of A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange is a modern science fiction classic that should not be missed. Anthony Burgess
describes a very dark and disturbing near future that is scary mostly because it seems so possible.
Young thugs and gangs run amok leaving a wake of violence. The only thing more terrifying is the
State and their way of dealing with criminals.
A Clockwork Orange is told from the first person viewpoint of a young teenage thug named Alex.
This viewpoint along with the futuristic street language and graphic violence is very effective at
immersing the reader in a world where lawlessness is a way of life. There is plenty of violence and sex
but generally it s not too graphic.
A dystopia is a utopia turned on its head, a nightmarish society ... Show more content on

F. Skinner as a technology of behavior that could be used to solve many societal problems, including
warfare, crime, and overpopulation. Burgess s novel warns against the use of such technology. In his
view, a person who has been conditioned to behave a certain way loses the God given right to free will
and becomes something like a machine, something as unnatural as a clockwork orange. It is true that
after his treatment, the formerly monstrous Alex appears good to the outward eye. However, since he
is not capable of moral choice, his goodness is hollow and insincere. He is like a robot or wind up toy
who functions as the State desires. Now powerless to defend himself, he becomes vulnerable to being
victimized and exploited by others, including the government. No matter how wicked a criminal may
be, even more sinister is a government that can take away the free will of its citizens. The message of
the book is that thought or behavior control, even when used ostensibly for a good purpose (e.g.,
eradicating crime) is fundamentally wrong, and dangerous. Readers of A Clockwork Orange may be
sickened by Alex s description of red red krovvy (blood) flowing beautiful, by his unrepentant
attraction to the depraved. However, the depiction of demonic teens in Kubrick s movie version of the
novel spawned many copycat crimes, proving that there really is something about ultraviolence that
appeals to people. Burgess explained

Religion In Hamlet Research Paper
Interaction of Mythology, Religion, and the Supernatural Hamlet is considered the most popular and
one of the most performed plays written by William Shakespeare that follows many of the traditional
styles, thus evident in his writings. It describes the tragedy of Prince Hamlet, the protagonist, whose
father is murdered by his uncle, Claudius, who then marries his mother, Gertrude. This not only ends
up in the tragic loss of his father but also results in the prevention of his rise to the throne. On a dark
wintry night, the ghost of King Hamlet appears and reveals to Prince Hamlet that Claudius is his
murderer and encourages him to seek revenge on the man who killed him to take the crown and then
married his widow (Al Abdullah and Ramadan, 912). The leading conflict of this story is the
confrontation between old Hamlet and King Claudius as well as the tragic dilemma that young Hamlet
face. In telling the conflict of Hamlet, Shakespeare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Religion s critical role as a motivating factor for the characters can be evidenced by the fact that it is
referred to in multiple instances in the play. When Horatio sees the Ghost, and says, Before my God, I
might not this believe/ Without the sensible and true avouch/Of my own eyes (A 1, S 1, L 67 69). This
promotes a notion that those who believe in God will not believe in ghosts. On another occasion,
Hamlet utters the most famous one from a soliloquy, To be, or not to be, that is the question (Act 3
Scene 1 line 65). Throughout the play, Hamlet remains depressed and harbors the thoughts of
committing suicide. However, it is the Catholic beliefs that prevent him from practicing it. This faith s
belief that suicide is a sin deters him from acting out his desire, which is a major component that
determines the story s progress. The story will have turned out differently if religion has not

Vietnam War Research Paper
The Vietnam War extended from 1962 1975, at that time the Australia governments defence policy
consisted of sending troops over seas to fight against potential enemies this strategy called forward
defence was a major reason for the commitment of Australian troops to the war in Vietnam, from 1962
1972 approximately 60,000 Australian men and women served in Vietnam and there were around 500
Australian causalities lost during the Vietnam War. The outbreak of war in Vietnam was as of as a
result of communist aggression. In 1951 we joined with New Zealand and the United States to sign the

Diamond Mines in South Africa
South Africa s Culture, Government, Economy, and religion of South Africa
(Shemika McWilliams)
Diamond mining in South Africa is the main force behind the country s economy but this has not
always been the case. South Africa s large diamond mining industry started with the discovery of a
large diamond on 1886 by a young shepherd named Erasmus Jacobs. The discovery brought in many
miners from different parts of the world to South Africa and this lead to the discovery of a bigger
diamond in 1871. This created a diamond rush in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the 1860s, the Dutch Reformed Church, the Church of England, and the Roman Catholic Church
began mission work (South Africa: Missionaries: Nineteeth Century, 2004). Thirty years later, diverse
groups such as the Salvation Army and African American missions of the African Methodist Episcopal
Church and the National Baptist Convention worked in South Africa. African Christians, often
independent of missionaries, made their religion an important part of their identity. The beginning of
the twentieth century, over 30 missionary societies worked in South Africa. Majority of the people
were working to promote Christianity throughout Africa. Missionary influence was profound, resistant
to easy categorization, and continually negotiated and shaped by African Christians. This movement
changed the country s culture but had little to do influence on the political environment in the country.
Political Environment
The politics in Africa are very different from the politics that we follow here in the United States. The
history of Africa politics is complex. When Egyptian politics looked toward the Mediterranean; the
empire was deeply African with several generations of kings and important civilizations, such as the
Meroe, coming from the highlands of Nubia (World History, Africa in, 2004). Throughout the decades
much of West Africa became part of a much larger African European network of trade in textiles,
slaves, and precious commodities with politics

The Importance Of Forest Depletion In Nepal
Forest Area: 33.7% 25.4% (1990 2015). The forest area has decreased due to increased deforestation
and a risk of forest fires in Nepal.
Finland has supported Nepal s forestry initiatives since the 80s, and it includes large scale preparation,
plantation and implementation of Forestry Sector Master Plan (1988 2011), support to Community
Forestry and Leasehold Forestry Programs, Scientific Forest Management initiatives, National Forest
Resource Inventories and others.
Physiologically, the country is divided into five regions, according to altitude (the Terai, the Siwalik,
the Middle Mountains, the High Mountains and the High Himal). Of the total land area, forests cover
4.27 million ha (29.0 percent) and shrub covers 1.56 million ha (10.6 percent) (DFRS 1999). The
annual rate of forest depletion in the Terai was 1.3 percent from 1978/79 to 1990/91. In the hilly area,
forest areas have declined at an annual rate of 2.3 percent from 1978/79 to 1994. In the entire country,
from 1978 79 to 1994, the forest area has decreased at an annual rate of 1.7%. This trend indicates the
ongoing pressure on forest resources, especially in the Terai. The graph above shows the regional

Persuasive Speech Outline
Topic: National Treasures Should Be Returned To Their Country of Origin
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience to believe that stolen artifacts should be returned.
1. Introduction
A. 2 Rhetorical Questions
1. Would you like it if someone came to your house and stole your valuable belongings?
i. I know I wouldn t, and I m sure none of you would either.
2. So why should any country s artifact a valuable belonging of theirs, be put up for display in another
country s museum? Specifically, ones that were stolen.

Profit
1. At least Germany was honest in their reasoning with keeping Nefertiti s bust. Countries like
Germany and Great Britain have no right in continuing making profit off of other countries stolen
treasure. They should return its stolen artifacts, and instead, thank the countries for being able to have
made money off of what was not rightfully theirs to begin with. Basically, these countries not only
stole artifacts, but large amounts of money that should have been made by the artifacts countries
themselves.
III. Conclusion
A. Review/Clincher.
1. Cultural treasures should be displayed in the context in which they originated; only then can they be
truly understood. In the case of the Elgin marbles this is an architectural context which only proximity
to the Parthenon itself can provide.
2. If countries were truly interested in studying another s artifacts, they could then borrow the artifacts
on a long term loan an alternative solution.
3. Lastly, if you were also interested in archaeology, you wouldn t want to have to visit a number of
museums all across the world just to see objects from one civilization, would you?
i. Wouldn t it be nice if all Egyptian artifacts were housed in Egypt, all Greek artifacts housed in
Greece, and all other artifacts housed in their

Extracurricular Experience In High School
Did you know that having an extracurricular hobby can help high school and college students in
academics? Things such as being engaged in an orchestra, or a club on campus are common; my
hobby has been athletics. I have excelled in athletics all my life and decided to take it to the college
level. I can t describe how much that experience has had an impact on my ability to manage time, my
health, and my success as a student.
If you had something that you loved, something that made you successful, would you want to share it?
I did. I know some awesome athletes in my high school that just needed a little push. They needed a
little more time with a coach, a little more encouragement. I knew I was someone that could do that.
Over the summer, I helped out three young women from my high school with javelin technique and
workout habits they should get into. I met with each of them once or twice a week for practice. Addie
was a very stubborn girl. She wanted to be the best (that includes by beating my high school records).
That is what helped her the most. She would come to practice and then complain the whole time we
ran or did plyometric drills. I thought she was going to quit after the first day, but she didn t. She was
too stubborn to. I m so glad she did because I got to continue to work with her on her fluidity in her
approach and her form. Addie is now headed to Brigham Young University on an athletic scholarship
to throw for them!

When in business people come up with slogan that fit their company, every time they see the product
the company logo or slogan come to mind. JBS USA Company is not an exception to the business
rules when it comes to having a slogan that will stay in the heads of customers when they see a
commercial with a slogan song that will stay in the heads of customer.
For example, when wanting to join the military, you think, Be all you can be in the Army, or if they
wanted a burger your thought, Have it your way! . That is what the market slogans from United State
Army, and Burger King, they help people remember a product which leads to an increase for customer
to buy that product.
This paper presents a longitudinal study of the resource based horizontal acquisition strategy of JBS,
the most acquisitive company in the meat producing sector. Its acquisition strategy transformed a
relatively small business that was founded in 1953 (comprising a butcher shop and a slaughterhouse
located in a small town in the interior of Brazil) into the world s biggest meat producer by 2010.
However, the acquisition strategy of the company is not one dimensional, it changes with times and
the maturity of the company. A big catalyst of the company s expansion in the late 2000s is the
financial assistance from the government, which is very common in Latin America (Degen Wong,
2013).

Essay about Divine Wind
The Divine Wind describes an Australia that is tarnished by racism, hatred and distrust, and yet the
novel ends on an optimistic note. Do you agree?
The novel is set during a World War. The tension and separation of races during a war seemed evident
in Australia. As a multicultural country including Japanese and Aborigine population, conflicting
attitudes towards these races had to be imminent. I entirely agree with the above statement due to the
unequal treatment of the aborigines, tension between the Japanese population and characters such as
Hart showing lack of trust over his lover Mitsy

elements of separation are presented. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Killian is talking about purity at the dinner, he declares that black workers will do all the work while
we (whites) sit inside. Aborigines do not even get equal opportunity, an example is when Derby s

without any support. Aborigines have been replaced with stereotypes and generalisations from the
Broome community especially all aborigines being alcoholics and inferior. Racism has the
significance in the future of Broome in that it will become extremely hard to reverse.
Hart s lack of trust for characters in the novel such as Mitsy and Jamie are just some signs of Disher
showing an Australia that is tarnished from distrust. Mitsy and Hart are close friends and at one time
lovers. Nevertheless, Hart still has thoughts about Mitsy secretly seeing Jamie. Hart asks Jamie, What
s going on between you and Mitsy. Some might argue that Hart is only caring about his love but when
Hart secretly follows Mitsy around town the reader recognises Hart s personality of distrust. Another
aspect of distrust is from the white community concerning over aborigines of Broome quot;Your Abo

and unpleasant to other races, they fear the aborigines will help the Japanese in their desire to takeover

Annotated Table of Contents Essay 1 was about a Mission Statement that I had to write for myself
something personal which explains something that is truthful and explains who and what I am and
what I am strving to achieve when searching my name Brian Mamuyac . What I did to prepare for this
assignment was that our instructor gave us the prompt ahead of time and I created a rough draft and
when we had to meet up in the computer room I just had to type up my essay and turn it in. The
challenging part of this essay would be understanding the prompt because I had no idea what a
Mission statement was and what I was supposed to do. For Essay 1 I was marked down for
redundancy, repetition, grammar and spelling and also clutter. What I can do to prevent the errors in
my next version would be to understand the prompt and directions more and have more ideas to write
about myself. In my revised Essay 1 version I did well on fixing my mistakes and not repeating the
same mistakes as last time by using the feedback that I received and changing or improving the
mistakes that I made in the past. I believe that I was marked down for the grammar, punctuation and
spelling errors, clutter and the conclusion which were the same issues that I was marked own with.
What I can do to ensure that the same issues won t be showing again would be to reread my revisions
and peer read my work so I can get the other mistakes that I might have created while revising or
missed by mistake.

The Last Rung Of The Latter Short Story
In The Last Rung of the Latter by Stephen King, Larry, the narrator receives a letter from his younger
sister, Kitty, that she wrote before she committed suicide. Larry retells a story from their childhood in
which he saved Kitty s life after she climbed a broken latter while they were playing a game. In this
short story Larry is forced to come to terms with his sister s death and deal with the guilt of not being
able to save her this time. The change of setting, the theme of guilt, and the use of symbolism all
greatly add to the meaning of this short story. The contrast in setting in The Last Rung Of The Latter is
used to show a change in feeling and mood as the characters grow older. Larry describes the morning
of the accident fondly, remembering how good the barn felt that day. When he begins talking about the
day in the barn, Larry says, On a day like that, the only really nice place to be was the barn. It was
warm, filled with a pleasant mixed aroma of hay and fur and dung, and with the mysterious clucking,
cooing sounds of the barn swallows high up in the third loft. (King 2). This quote indicates that Larry
thought of the barn as a homey and warm place. He does not dislike the setting of his childhood home,
despite the fact that is sister almost died on his terms while they were there. On the contrary, when
Larry speaks about where he lives in the present he seems to resent the constant moving and changing
of his life. Larry even says that, People move around

difference for Corinth because of the way we used them.

We use the railroads for many things now days. In the civil war, railway systems were one way a force
could gain the benefits of inside argumentation,, and as generals pursued this strategy the Civil war
became the first great railroad war in Mississippi. The Mississippi railroads made it easier for things to
transport in and out of Mississippi. The status of inside lines can be achieved by a violence having a
central location relation to the enemy or by a force having superior lateral communication relative to
the enemy. It is the importance of railroads and the interior lines that they promised that catapulted the
otherwise modest town of Corinth, Mississippi into the center stage of the Civil state of War. At the
meter of the Civil War, Corinth was still a young town. Corinth stands as a multi faceted
demonstration of how railroads influenced procedure and scheme in the Civil War. It had already
brought together the two great armies that clashed at Shiloh. In bend the Confederates and Federals
had defended and attacked it, struggling for its ascendency. The Mississippi railways made it easier,
traveling wise. During the years 1880 1899 ,Civil War days in Corinth, the railroads were way more
significant and important to Corinth s people. Back in those type of days, there was hardly any
transportation for people. So they took highly advantage of the railroads. However, from the years
1900 1950, Industrial Corinth, the railroads were still important but not as highly as the years 1880
1899 being more things were getting invented as in cars and trucks, mainly for transporting goods.
Now in the years 1950 2015, Modern day Corinth, the railroad importance went down. In these days
we have things like big 18 wheelers and over seas transportation. There was more transportation now
and the 18 wheelers deliver more faster. Over the years, we ve created things

The Hardness Of 3 Steel Alloys
By varying the carbon content, cooling rates, we will get different microstructure of steels that yield
different properties which can be tailored to meet different engineering applications. In this
experiment, the hardness of 3 steel alloys with varying Carbon compositions will be compared. With
different amounts of Pearlite formed, we can also estimate the hardness of pure pearlite and ferrite.
Lastly, the fourth sample will be quenched in water and a Martensitic structure will be observed. We
will discuss the attributes that allows Martensite to be one of the hardest steel alloy available.
1. Introduction
There are many different forms of steel alloys used today. They are tailored during their processing
phases to meet the wide array of engineering applications. Steel alloy in its simplest form is a basic
mixture of Iron and Carbon and by varying the carbon content, the rate of cooling and the addition of
impurities like Chromium for high corrosion resistance, we are able to derive alloys of different
mechanical properties such as stainless steel and tool steels as these 3 factors affect the microstructure
of the steel. This can be understood by the simple phase diagram of Iron and Carbon in Figure 1.1.
Figure 1.1 The Iron Carbon Phase diagram (David Dye 2014)
Steel alloys with less than 0.8 wt% Carbon are termed as Hypo Eutectoid steel. They are the ones
widely used in the industry. For steels higher than 0.8 wt% Carbon, they are termed as cast iron or

The Lottery Persuasive Analysis
Just because someone is standing up for what is right does not mean they will always be well liked or
they will fit in with everyone. If someone stands up for what is right and everyone else disagrees with
them there may be some serious consequences. In The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, Tessie Hutchinson
spoke against their tradition, nobody would listen to her but she still spoke against it. She tried and
tried, no matter how difficult it was, to get into the townspeople s mind that they should not be doing
what they are doing, that it is wrong. Some people are not as brave as Tessie Hutchinson, Martin
Niemoller, for example, had the chance to speak up against the Nazi, he had the chance to speak for
what is right, instead he kept silent in First they came . It is hard standing up for what is right,
especially when you do not know what the consequences are, whether you ll get hurt or teased or
whether somebody else will.
In detail, The Lottery is about standing up for what is right is not always the easiest path. For example,
Some places have already quit lotteries Mrs. Adams said. Another quote that goes along with that is,
Nothing but trouble in that, Old Man Warner said stoutly. Pack of young fools. (paragraph 33 34). The
reason why this relates to the text because this is the time that Tessie Hutchinson could have stood up
and told everyone that it is not right to have this lottery, instead she kept quiet because she knew it was
not going to be easy standing up to the whole town and saying that what they are doing is not right.
She could have stood up more than she did, instead she chose to wait until it was her who won the
lottery. Another example to support the theme is, Tessie Hutchinson shouted to Mr. Summers, You
didn t give him time enough to take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (paragraph 45),
another quote that goes along with it is, Be a good sport Tessie, Mrs. Delacroix called, and Mrs.
Graves said, All of us took the same chance. (paragraph 46). The reason why these two pieces of
evidence supports the theme, standing up for what s right may not always be the easiest path, is by
showing that Tessie does stand up. Maybe she is not standing up for the fact that

Fun Home: Bechdel s Neo Detective Novel of Gender Crime
The narration in Alison Bechdel s Fun Home can be categorized as a significant neo detective one in
many ways. Like every detective story, a suspicious death is deriving the whole narrative, but in a
fantastically fresh form. There is a mysterious home, and the mystery lies in the minds and secrets of
its residents. The significance of this novel lies in the fact that the narrator is one of the main
suspected criminals. The novel is psychologically attentive, witty, with wonderful techniques of
psychological observations. Unlike the traditional detective stories, this novel does not offer a startling
denouement, however, it brings about a deep understanding of gender which is quite unique in its

Here, the death of the father is not a conventional one. The father is already dead when living with the
family. Bechdel s father is dead in the sense that he has always been trying to hide the secret of his
sexual orientation. Bechdel feels her father s metaphysical death despite his constant physical
presence and the ubiquitous marks of his lab (Fantasia 10). Therefore, she tries to understand what
Žižek calls a symbolic death. That is the symbolic death that makes Bechdel more concerned and not
the accident that killed the father because the accident was the result of that symbolic death. As Žižek
states that everybody must die twice (1989, 148). So, a person can be biologically alive, while
symbolically dead (2010, 292 8) and this is the same thing that we see in this novel. The father is

reason, managers have no authority to affect the final outcome of a project. The lack of autonomy
creates a lack of achievement and satisfaction which Americans value. From a business standpoint, if a
country such as France, scores high in power distance, there is a tendency to have more male
controlled traditions. As a result, managerial positions are typically held by men, and the women who
do hold leadership positions experience negativity. Considering the United States scored a 40 in power
distance indicates they are less accepting of unequal distribution and inequality. As an American
manager, working abroad in France I will face many challenges coming from a society that is lower in
power distance. In the United States I am accustom to briefing my subordinates about task in great
detail. I am also prepared for my authority to be challenged and to answer questions pertaining to any
information that was briefed. In fact, I encourage questions to

Story Summary of Brave New World Essays
Brave New World opens in the Central London Hatching and Conditioning Center, where the Director
of the Hatchery and Henry Foster are giving a tour to a group of boys. The boys learn about the
Bokanovsky Process, which allows the Hatchery to produce thousands of nearly identical human
embryos. During the gestation period the embryos travel in bottles along a conveyor belt through a
large factory building, and are conditioned to belong to one of five castes: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta,
or Epsilon. The Alpha embryos are destined to become the leaders and thinkers of the World State.
Each of the succeeding castes is conditioned to be slightly less physically and intellectually
impressive. The Epsilons are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the next few days, Bernard asks his superior, the Director, for permission to visit the Reservation.
The Director launches into a story about a visit to the Reservation he had made with a woman twenty
years earlier, in which, during a storm, the woman was lost and never recovered. Finally, he gives
Bernard the permit, and Bernard and Lenina depart for the Reservation. Before heading into the
Reservation, Bernard calls Helmholtz and learns that the Director has grown weary of what he sees as
Bernard s difficult and unsocial behavior and is planning to exile Bernard to Iceland when he returns.
Bernard is angry and distraught, but decides to head into the Reservation anyway.
On the Reservation, Lenina and Bernard are shocked to see its aged and ill residents; no one in the
World State has any visible signs of aging. They witness a religious ritual in which a young man is
whipped, and are disgusted. After the ritual they meet John, a fair skinned young man who is isolated
from the rest of the village. John tells Bernard about his childhood as the son of a woman named
Linda who was rescued by the villagers some twenty years ago, and Bernard realizes that Linda is the
woman mentioned by the Director. Talking to John, he learns that Linda was ostracized because of her
willingness to sleep with all the men in the village, and that as a result John was raised in isolation
from the rest of the village. John explains that he

Worldcom Financial Scandal
Introduction
WorldCom was America s second largest telecom company in 2000 (The WorldCom Accounting
Scandal, 2002). Making a modest beginning in the hinterland of Mississippi in 1983 with a meager
capital of less than 100,000 USD it reached the pinnacle of corporate success reporting more than
USD 39 billion in revenue and USD 150 million in MCAP (The WorldCom Accounting Scandal,
2002). In the process it became 42nd in the Fortune 500 list. Under the leadership of CEO Bernie
Ebbers it grew rapidly by means of acquisitions and increased demand for telecom services farther

If the WorldCom would have adopted the goal setting theory in their organization, its executive and
auditor would have not gone for the unethical accounting practices for the business (Griffin

Corporate Governance
Corporate governance is the set of processes, customs, policies, laws and institutions, which directed,
administered and controlled over the corporation (Monks Minow, 2008). Corporate governance is a
way by which a company governs itself for providing the values to their stake holders. The WorldCom
did not follow the corporate governance policy. If the WorldCom would have followed the corporate
governance it would have not led towards this business failure and company would have not gone for
the unethical practices conduct in the organization. Corporate governance would have increased the
faith of stakeholders towards the company and company would have survived for long time (Monks
Minow, 2008).
Adoption of Ethical Behavior
The Ethical Behavior would enhance the performance of the company, because the ethical behavior
would creates the good image of the company among the stakeholders. If The WorldCom would have
adopted the ethical behavior in the organization it would not have attained bankruptcy in the market.
The company acted in unethically to misrepresent the accounts of the company (Salter, 2008).

Examples Of Outdated Things In The Outsiders
Although the book The Outsiders was published 50 years ago there are still things that are not timeless
but there are some things that are outdated. Some examples of timeless things are that we still have
gangs, and fighting. Also, some examples of outdated things are rumbles, escaping by a train, boys
home. All of these examples show that the book still relates to students every day. Some examples of
things that are timeless are that we still gangs, and stereotypical people. The whole book was based on
gangs, we still have gangs today some people can get really violent just like in the book. It says this in
the book I m not saying that either Socs or Greasers are better. (Hinton, 3) This shows that there are
two main gangs in the book the Greasers and the Socs. Not only are gangs timeless but also
stereotypical people are. People just assume things that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the book, the one really big event that everyone knew about was the rumble. The rumble is where
there is a really big fight where all of the gangs get together and fight each other. Today people don t
have rumbles people do fight most the time one on one or like a small group but not like that. It talks
about this on page 11 in the book A rumble, when it s called, is usually born of a grudge fight, and the
opponents just happen to bring their friends along. This helps you understand that in the Outsiders the
gang s did have rumbles. Another thing that is outdated in the book is escaping by a train. It is illegal
to do that today and it would be really hard to get away with that because of all of the high security. It
says that Johnny and Pony did this in the book The train slowed to a screaming halt. Now, whispered
Johnny. We ran and pulled ourselves into an open boxcar. (Hinton, 62) This quote shows that they
traveled somewhere by jumping on a train secretly. This is how it proves that these statements are

The Impact Of Social Media On Youth Development
I use social media quite a bit in my personal life; it s usually the first thing I check as soon as I log
onto my computer. I m almost always on Tumblr or Twitter for the latest updates. It s a pretty useful
tool, I would say because it allows you to connect with many people that you would not have known
about otherwise. It s an endless source of information, and it s very easy to learn about things often
just as they are happening which is a massive improvement in within the last twenty years. Social
media has had a very large impact on the world at large and singlehandedly revolutionized the way we
communicate and connect today. I will be discussing various online communities such as Facebook
and Twitter and their various impacts as well as their influence on people who use them regularly.
According Pempek et al (2009) media has a large influence on youth development, with U.S youth
investing approximately 6.5 hours per day with media. (As cited by Roberts et al, 2005)
According to survey by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, 41% of 12 13 year olds and 61%
of 14 17 year olds use social networking sites. On average U.S College students reported using
Facebook 10 30 minutes daily. (As cited by Lenhart Madden 2007) One way students who use online
applications is to facilitate social relationships. 85% of college students who use Facebook use it to

Analysis Of Angel By Sarah Mclachlan
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) commercial, without fail,
has the power to depress people in less than two minutes. As the haunting tone of Angel by Sarah
McLachlan begins to play, numerous viewers decide to switch the channel, mute the TV, or even
complete other tasks away from the TV to avoid feeling guilty as the images of the mistreated animals
flash across the screen, which are constraints for the ad. This heart wrenching commercial raises
awareness for animal abuse and its attempt to put a stop to it. In recent decades, more households own
pets, and the mistreatment of animals has increased. This organization is based on the ideology that
animals should have a healthy, happy, and excellent life, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most people would be annoyed at giving an organization around $20 a month. However, when it is
broken down into a daily contribution that is less than a dollar a day, it seems feasible for people to
donate the amount to aid these poor animals. The images of the animals for whom the assistance came
too late implies that if one more person had donated, that animal would have been saved. Therefore,
the commercial implies that if they do not donate, the animal in need of their aid will die. Their plea
for donations is supported by the images of the doleful animals and the videos of the animals who are
struggling even to walk because of the injuries that they have faced. Additionally, the beginning of the
commercial presents the viewers with a statistic of 3000 animals are tortured in America every day
(ASPCA). This shows how often this type of abuse occurs in America, and how critical it is to attempt
to stop the mistreatment of the animals. However, with the fiscal support of the viewers, the
organization can put a stop to this inhumane treatment of animals and thus create exceptional lives for
them overall. Finally, the viewers who donate are supplied with a picture of an animal, and a t shirt,
who they have aided in saving, thus making their donation seem tangible and less superfluous. These
objects are meant to be rewards for the people who donate, and therefore can be utilized to spread the
message of the ASPCA around to other

Financial Crisis Of The United States
Financial Crisis in the U.S. In 2008, the world experienced a horrific financial crisis which has been
considered one of the worst recessions since the Great Depression of the 1930s. After posing an
enormous negative effect on the U.S. economy, the financial crisis started to spread across Europe and
the rest of the world. The financial crisis ruined economies, crumbled financial corporations and
deprived lives. Over the past several years, financial innovation has presented U.S. households with an
overflowing set of financial options to choose from. On a daily basis, millions of financial transactions
take place throughout our banking and finance systems. These financial transactions may consist of

Following the bailouts, banks worldwide have continued to struggle in the fight against financial
crime. The graph below clearly displays the severe disaster that U.S. banks have experienced in the
years following the 2008 financial crisis.
In a post crash market, financial firms face many challenges which include more severe regulations,
more demanding consumers, and how to take advantage of new technology. Financial crime costs an
estimated $20 billion in losses annually, and the operational costs of compliance continue to grow
substantially each year. Due to the complexity of financial services, detecting and preventing fraud
within the financial world is nearly impossible. The threats can be either domestic or international and
they may originate internally or externally. Perhaps the most disturbing statistic in the 2010 ACFE
study is the one showing that only 6.7 percent of fraudsters had previous convictions for a fraud
related offense, and 7.7 percent had charges with no conviction, which means that 85.6 percent of the
frauds were committed by persons who had never been charged with or convicted of a

groups/organizations for athletic training such as NATA, CAATE, and the BOC.
NATA, or the National Athletic Trainer s Association, is a membership association. Its mission is to

and athletic trainers as unique health care providers ( About NATA , 2016, para. 3). It is different from

An Analysis Of The Adaptation Of Stephen King s

(An analysis of the 2017 adaptation of Stephen King s It using Aristotle s Poetics) When the word
poetics is used, poetry and roses are often what come to mind. However, poetics can be any form of
entertainment. Aristotle is talking about drama and plays specifically, and in today s world, he would
be talking about movies. Several movies are released in theaters every week. There is a variety of
genres, including drama, thriller, horror, comedy, and romance. Aristotle creates the basis for all
critiques and judgments of drama in his essay Poetics. Aristotle creates this idea of a good drama that
still can be applied to modern film today. After Aristotle s death, his philosophy continued to be taught

These kids are indeed the protagonists of the storyline. They are extremely relatable characters in both
their fears and tribulations. In the beginning of the film, Georgie is afraid of the dark, and must
conquer his fear to retrieve some wax from the cellar. Nothing was there when Georgie went into the
cellar, but he thought there was something there because his fear made his brain imagine that
something was hiding in the dark. The movie does not start off with jump scares and creepiness like a
majority of horror movies. Rebecca Lewis praises the movie when she writes, Director Muschietti
uses horror tropes such as the young boy afraid of the dark empty cellar and the pouring autumnal rain
to put you on the edge of your seat before you ve even met Pennywise the Dancing Clown, (Lewis).
By starting the film off this way, Muschietti creates an environment that almost every person to watch
the film could relate to. Most people used to be afraid of the dark when they were young. Georgie s
fear of the dark enticed the audience, bringing them into the experience and reminding them of their
own fear of the dark. This is an extremely clever device used by King and Muschietti to captivate the
audience. Aristotle comments in Poetics that the audience can relate to the protagonist through fear.
Joe Sachs comments that, Fear can obviously be an insidious thing that undermines life and poisons it
with anxiety, (Sachs).

Marsden s Analysis
Women now grow up in a community where their choices can be made by themselves. Women no
longer have to seek their father s or husband input. Still to this day we are treated in certain
circumstances as inferior to the male population (Marsden, 2012). Beside this women have come so
far because they no longer have no control over their choices, their choices are in their own hand and
they are able to do what they wish (Marsden, 2012). For example in class we have talked about the
electoral system (Heritz, 2016b). For the longest time only British born men 21 and over were eligible
to vote (Heritz, 2016b). Women fought peacefully to get their right to vote so that they could have a
say. This relates to Marsden s novel because she discusses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Ethnic Cleansing In The Rohingya Ethnic cleansing has not been recognized by the United Nations as an independent crime. Although, it has been recognized as trying to rid one group of people from an area to make the other group ethnically homogenous. To do this a group can try to promote fear in another group making them want to leave so they do not feel safe anymore. Some of these acts can include murder, torture, rape, etc. (Ethnic Cleansing, Un.org) This is exactly what is happening to the Rohingya in Myanmar. They are being forced to leave their home and escape to neighboring countries because of persecution by the primarily Buddhist, Myanmar. They are not allowed citizenship, are forced to relocate, and been attacked by the Myanmar government on several occasions. Recent studies have shown that over 160,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar and over 1,000 have been killed, including innocent men, women, and children. (Myanmar: Who are the Rohingya, aljezzera.com) The Rohingya have been in Myanmar since 1982 and not only have gotten no recognition but are not even allowed citizenship. This is turn limits them to having no power or say in Myanmar. The government made the Rohingya get foreign identity cards. This in turn, angered many of the Rohingya for their families had been there for generations. Some Rohingya had even served in the government prior to this. All their rights to go to school, work, travel, etc. were prohibited because they were not able to be recognized as citizens. The Myanmar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Critical Analysis Of A Clockwork Orange A Clockwork Orange is a modern science fiction classic that should not be missed. Anthony Burgess describes a very dark and disturbing near future that is scary mostly because it seems so possible. Young thugs and gangs run amok leaving a wake of violence. The only thing more terrifying is the State and their way of dealing with criminals. A Clockwork Orange is told from the first person viewpoint of a young teenage thug named Alex. This viewpoint along with the futuristic street language and graphic violence is very effective at immersing the reader in a world where lawlessness is a way of life. There is plenty of violence and sex but generally it s not too graphic. A dystopia is a utopia turned on its head, a nightmarish society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... F. Skinner as a technology of behavior that could be used to solve many societal problems, including warfare, crime, and overpopulation. Burgess s novel warns against the use of such technology. In his view, a person who has been conditioned to behave a certain way loses the God given right to free will and becomes something like a machine, something as unnatural as a clockwork orange. It is true that after his treatment, the formerly monstrous Alex appears good to the outward eye. However, since he is not capable of moral choice, his goodness is hollow and insincere. He is like a robot or wind up toy who functions as the State desires. Now powerless to defend himself, he becomes vulnerable to being victimized and exploited by others, including the government. No matter how wicked a criminal may be, even more sinister is a government that can take away the free will of its citizens. The message of the book is that thought or behavior control, even when used ostensibly for a good purpose (e.g., eradicating crime) is fundamentally wrong, and dangerous. Readers of A Clockwork Orange may be sickened by Alex s description of red red krovvy (blood) flowing beautiful, by his unrepentant attraction to the depraved. However, the depiction of demonic teens in Kubrick s movie version of the novel spawned many copycat crimes, proving that there really is something about ultraviolence that appeals to people. • 4. Religion In Hamlet Research Paper Interaction of Mythology, Religion, and the Supernatural Hamlet is considered the most popular and one of the most performed plays written by William Shakespeare that follows many of the traditional styles, thus evident in his writings. It describes the tragedy of Prince Hamlet, the protagonist, whose father is murdered by his uncle, Claudius, who then marries his mother, Gertrude. This not only ends up in the tragic loss of his father but also results in the prevention of his rise to the throne. On a dark wintry night, the ghost of King Hamlet appears and reveals to Prince Hamlet that Claudius is his murderer and encourages him to seek revenge on the man who killed him to take the crown and then married his widow (Al Abdullah and Ramadan, 912). The leading conflict of this story is the confrontation between old Hamlet and King Claudius as well as the tragic dilemma that young Hamlet face. In telling the conflict of Hamlet, Shakespeare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Religion s critical role as a motivating factor for the characters can be evidenced by the fact that it is referred to in multiple instances in the play. When Horatio sees the Ghost, and says, Before my God, I might not this believe/ Without the sensible and true avouch/Of my own eyes (A 1, S 1, L 67 69). This promotes a notion that those who believe in God will not believe in ghosts. On another occasion, Hamlet utters the most famous one from a soliloquy, To be, or not to be, that is the question (Act 3 Scene 1 line 65). Throughout the play, Hamlet remains depressed and harbors the thoughts of committing suicide. However, it is the Catholic beliefs that prevent him from practicing it. This faith s belief that suicide is a sin deters him from acting out his desire, which is a major component that determines the story s progress. The story will have turned out differently if religion has not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Vietnam War Research Paper The Vietnam War extended from 1962 1975, at that time the Australia governments defence policy consisted of sending troops over seas to fight against potential enemies this strategy called forward defence was a major reason for the commitment of Australian troops to the war in Vietnam, from 1962 1972 approximately 60,000 Australian men and women served in Vietnam and there were around 500 Australian causalities lost during the Vietnam War. The outbreak of war in Vietnam was as of as a result of communist aggression. South Africa s large diamond mining industry started with the discovery of a large diamond on 1886 by a young shepherd named Erasmus Jacobs. By the 1860s, the Dutch Reformed Church, the Church of England, and the Roman Catholic Church began mission work (South Africa: Missionaries: Nineteeth Century, 2004). Thirty years later, diverse groups such as the Salvation Army and African American missions of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and the National Baptist Convention worked in South Africa. African Christians, often independent of missionaries, made their religion an important part of their identity. The beginning of the twentieth century, over 30 missionary societies worked in South Africa. Majority of the people were working to promote Christianity throughout Africa. Missionary influence was profound, resistant to easy categorization, and continually negotiated and shaped by African Christians. This movement changed the country s culture but had little to do influence on the political environment in the country. Political Environment The politics in Africa are very different from the politics that we follow here in the United States. The history of Africa politics is complex. When Egyptian politics looked toward the Mediterranean; the empire was deeply African with several generations of kings and important civilizations, such as the Meroe, coming from the highlands of Nubia (World History, Africa in, 2004). Countries like Germany and Great Britain have no right in continuing making profit off of other countries stolen treasure. They should return its stolen artifacts, and instead, thank the countries for being able to have made money off of what was not rightfully theirs to begin with. Basically, these countries not only stole artifacts, but large amounts of money that should have been made by the artifacts countries themselves. III. Conclusion A. Review/Clincher. 1. Cultural treasures should be displayed in the context in which they originated; only then can they be truly understood. In the case of the Elgin marbles this is an architectural context which only proximity to the Parthenon itself can provide. 2. If countries were truly interested in studying another s artifacts, they could then borrow the artifacts on a long term loan an alternative solution. 3. Things such as being engaged in an orchestra, or a club on campus are common; my hobby has been athletics. I have excelled in athletics all my life and decided to take it to the college level. I can t describe how much that experience has had an impact on my ability to manage time, my health, and my success as a student. If you had something that you loved, something that made you successful, would you want to share it? I did. I know some awesome athletes in my high school that just needed a little push. They needed a little more time with a coach, a little more encouragement. I knew I was someone that could do that. Over the summer, I helped out three young women from my high school with javelin technique and workout habits they should get into. I met with each of them once or twice a week for practice. Addie was a very stubborn girl. She wanted to be the best (that includes by beating my high school records). That is what helped her the most. She would come to practice and then complain the whole time we ran or did plyometric drills. I thought she was going to quit after the first day, but she didn t. She was too stubborn to. I m so glad she did because I got to continue to work with her on her fluidity in her approach and her form. JBS USA Company is not an exception to the business rules when it comes to having a slogan that will stay in the heads of customers when they see a commercial with a slogan song that will stay in the heads of customer. That is what the market slogans from United State Army, and Burger King, they help people remember a product which leads to an increase for customer to buy that product. This paper presents a longitudinal study of the resource based horizontal acquisition strategy of JBS, the most acquisitive company in the meat producing sector. Its acquisition strategy transformed a relatively small business that was founded in 1953 (comprising a butcher shop and a slaughterhouse located in a small town in the interior of Brazil) into the world s biggest meat producer by 2010. However, the acquisition strategy of the company is not one dimensional, it changes with times and the maturity of the company. A big catalyst of the company s expansion in the late 2000s is the financial assistance from the government, which is very common in Latin America (Degen Wong, 2013). The novel is set during a World War. The tension and separation of races during a war seemed evident in Australia. As a multicultural country including Japanese and Aborigine population, conflicting attitudes towards these races had to be imminent. I entirely agree with the above statement due to the unequal treatment of the aborigines, tension between the Japanese population and characters such as Hart showing lack of trust over his lover Mitsy With a war against the Japanese was the trigger for racism in Australia. Aborigines have been replaced with stereotypes and generalisations from the Broome community especially all aborigines being alcoholics and inferior. Racism has the significance in the future of Broome in that it will become extremely hard to reverse. Hart s lack of trust for characters in the novel such as Mitsy and Jamie are just some signs of Disher showing an Australia that is tarnished from distrust. Mitsy and Hart are close friends and at one time lovers. Nevertheless, Hart still has thoughts about Mitsy secretly seeing Jamie. Hart asks Jamie, What s going on between you and Mitsy. Some might argue that Hart is only caring about his love but when Hart secretly follows Mitsy around town the reader recognises Hart s personality of distrust. The challenging part of this essay would be understanding the prompt because I had no idea what a Mission statement was and what I was supposed to do. For Essay 1 I was marked down for redundancy, repetition, grammar and spelling and also clutter. What I can do to prevent the errors in my next version would be to understand the prompt and directions more and have more ideas to write about myself. In my revised Essay 1 version I did well on fixing my mistakes and not repeating the same mistakes as last time by using the feedback that I received and changing or improving the mistakes that I made in the past. I believe that I was marked down for the grammar, punctuation and spelling errors, clutter and the conclusion which were the same issues that I was marked own with. What I can do to ensure that the same issues won t be showing again would be to reread my revisions and peer read my work so I can get the other mistakes that I might have created while revising or missed by mistake. • 13. The Last Rung Of The Latter Short Story In The Last Rung of the Latter by Stephen King, Larry, the narrator receives a letter from his younger sister, Kitty, that she wrote before she committed suicide. Larry retells a story from their childhood in which he saved Kitty s life after she climbed a broken latter while they were playing a game. In this short story Larry is forced to come to terms with his sister s death and deal with the guilt of not being able to save her this time. The change of setting, the theme of guilt, and the use of symbolism all greatly add to the meaning of this short story. The contrast in setting in The Last Rung Of The Latter is used to show a change in feeling and mood as the characters grow older. Larry describes the morning of the accident fondly, remembering how good the barn felt that day. When he begins talking about the day in the barn, Larry says, On a day like that, the only really nice place to be was the barn. It was warm, filled with a pleasant mixed aroma of hay and fur and dung, and with the mysterious clucking, cooing sounds of the barn swallows high up in the third loft. (King 2). This quote indicates that Larry thought of the barn as a homey and warm place. He does not dislike the setting of his childhood home, despite the fact that is sister almost died on his terms while they were there. On the contrary, when Larry speaks about where he lives in the present he seems to resent the constant moving and changing of his life. Larry even says that, People move around ... We use the railroads for many things now days. In the civil war, railway systems were one way a force could gain the benefits of inside argumentation,, and as generals pursued this strategy the Civil war became the first great railroad war in Mississippi. The Mississippi railroads made it easier for things to transport in and out of Mississippi. The status of inside lines can be achieved by a violence having a central location relation to the enemy or by a force having superior lateral communication relative to the enemy. It is the importance of railroads and the interior lines that they promised that catapulted the otherwise modest town of Corinth, Mississippi into the center stage of the Civil state of War. At the meter of the Civil War, Corinth was still a young town. Corinth stands as a multi faceted demonstration of how railroads influenced procedure and scheme in the Civil War. It had already brought together the two great armies that clashed at Shiloh. In bend the Confederates and Federals had defended and attacked it, struggling for its ascendency. The Mississippi railways made it easier, traveling wise. During the years 1880 1899 ,Civil War days in Corinth, the railroads were way more significant and important to Corinth s people. Back in those type of days, there was hardly any transportation for people. So they took highly advantage of the railroads. However, from the years 1900 1950, Industrial Corinth, the railroads were still important but not as highly as the years 1880 1899 being more things were getting invented as in cars and trucks, mainly for transporting goods. Now in the years 1950 2015, Modern day Corinth, the railroad importance went down. In these days we have things like big 18 wheelers and over seas transportation. • 16. The Hardness Of 3 Steel Alloys By varying the carbon content, cooling rates, we will get different microstructure of steels that yield different properties which can be tailored to meet different engineering applications. In this experiment, the hardness of 3 steel alloys with varying Carbon compositions will be compared. With different amounts of Pearlite formed, we can also estimate the hardness of pure pearlite and ferrite. Lastly, the fourth sample will be quenched in water and a Martensitic structure will be observed. We will discuss the attributes that allows Martensite to be one of the hardest steel alloy available. 1. Introduction There are many different forms of steel alloys used today. They are tailored during their processing phases to meet the wide array of engineering applications. Steel alloy in its simplest form is a basic mixture of Iron and Carbon and by varying the carbon content, the rate of cooling and the addition of impurities like Chromium for high corrosion resistance, we are able to derive alloys of different mechanical properties such as stainless steel and tool steels as these 3 factors affect the microstructure of the steel. This can be understood by the simple phase diagram of Iron and Carbon in Figure 1.1. Figure 1.1 The Iron Carbon Phase diagram (David Dye 2014) Steel alloys with less than 0.8 wt% Carbon are termed as Hypo Eutectoid steel. They are the ones widely used in the industry. • 17. The Lottery Persuasive Analysis Just because someone is standing up for what is right does not mean they will always be well liked or they will fit in with everyone. If someone stands up for what is right and everyone else disagrees with them there may be some serious consequences. In The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, Tessie Hutchinson spoke against their tradition, nobody would listen to her but she still spoke against it. She tried and tried, no matter how difficult it was, to get into the townspeople s mind that they should not be doing what they are doing, that it is wrong. Some people are not as brave as Tessie Hutchinson, Martin Niemoller, for example, had the chance to speak up against the Nazi, he had the chance to speak for what is right, instead he kept silent in First they came . It is hard standing up for what is right, especially when you do not know what the consequences are, whether you ll get hurt or teased or whether somebody else will. In detail, The Lottery is about standing up for what is right is not always the easiest path. For example, Some places have already quit lotteries Mrs. Adams said. Another quote that goes along with that is, Nothing but trouble in that, Old Man Warner said stoutly. Pack of young fools. (paragraph 33 34). The reason why this relates to the text because this is the time that Tessie Hutchinson could have stood up and told everyone that it is not right to have this lottery, instead she kept quiet because she knew it was not going to be easy standing up to the whole town and saying that what they are doing is not right. She could have stood up more than she did, instead she chose to wait until it was her who won the lottery. Another example to support the theme is, Tessie Hutchinson shouted to Mr. Summers, You didn t give him time enough to take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (paragraph 45), another quote that goes along with it is, Be a good sport Tessie, Mrs. Delacroix called, and Mrs. Graves said, All of us took the same chance. (paragraph 46). The reason why these two pieces of evidence supports the theme, standing up for what s right may not always be the easiest path, is by showing that Tessie does stand up. Maybe she is not standing up for the fact that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, the commercial implies that if they do not donate, the animal in need of their aid will die.
