Assuring effective succession is considered an issue in all kinds of firms (Miller, 1993; and

For a large, established business like the Virgin group it is recommended that an MBO approach be
utilised in the establishment of goals and objectives for succession plans. In this management
system, specific performance goals are jointly determined by employees and their managers,
progress towards accomplishing these goals is periodically reviewed, and rewards are allocated
on the basis of this progress (Robbins et. al., 2009). This method is ideal for creating goals and
objectives for succession plans as by incorporating the entire company as part of the process they
are preparing the organisation for a strategic change. An MBO approach requires participation from
all members of a business. It has been proven through recent studies that best practice organizations
effectively integrate leadership development and succession planning systems by fully utilizing
managerial personnel in the creation of succession plans (Groves, 2008).
As mentioned in the case study, the Virgin Group is made up of multiple independent businesses
and consequently possesses different management styles and different expectations. Therefore, for
the MBO method to be successful for the group, leaders from each of these independent businesses
along with Richard Branson will need to be participative in the establishment of goals and
objectives. The company would have to be prudent in using this method as studies have found this
process to be unsuccessful when top management have

An Effective Human Resource Management Department
Because it serves as the direct link to all the various operations that make up our company, Human
Resources management is vital to our current and future success. For us to prosper and satisfy our
customers, Forever 21 must have an effective Human Resource Management department, one that
can provide proper knowledge, necessary tools, and effective advice to guide employees and
administrators towards successful operation (Heathfield What is Human... ). Since our debut, we
ve been continuously profitable. However, our downside is that we have been primarily focusing
on targeting the customer, when we need to apply a different approach: we need to empower our
employees and their passion for the job. Investing in our employees motivationwill not only allow
us to grow in sales, but also as an overall company. Our most important goal would be to build
our workers intrinsic motivation. In doing so, we would increase their desire to perform an
action or behave in a certain way because they enjoy the job or activity itself (Williams Intrinsic
Motivation... ). According to GlassDoor, a website in which former or current employees of an
organization review the job, Forever 21 holds a lot of negative reviews of the working conditions
and especially the upper managementwhich, in some cases, was the cause of people s departure
from the company. It is crucial that we fix this problem with management because poor Human
Resource managementcan result in several negative effects. The

Pseudo Myopi The Refractive Anomaly Of The Eye
INTRODUCTION
Myopia is the refractive anomaly of the eye in which close objects appears clearly, while objects
far away appear blurry. With myopia, light comes to focus in front of the retina instead of on the
retina Myopia is the major refractive error having a worldwide prevalence of 1.5 billion. Children
with Myopia feel difficulties in viewing blackboard in school; they avoid outdoor activities and get
isolated from the peer groups. Untreated myopia may lead to Macular degeneration, Glaucoma,
Cataract, Retinal detachment.
Myopia occurs if the eyeball is too long or the cornea (the clear front cover of the eye) is too curved.
As a result, the light entering the eye isn t focused correctly, and distant objects look blurred. Even

Because there is insufficient contrast for an adequate accommodative stimulus, the eye assumes the
intermediate dark focus accommodative position rather than focusing for infinity.
3. Pseudo myopia
Pseudo myopia is the result of an increase in ocular refractive power due to overstimulation of the
eye s accommodative mechanism or ciliary spasm. The condition is so named because the patient
only appears to have myopia due to an inappropriate accommodative response.
4. Degenerative Myopia
A high degree of myopia associated with degenerative changes in the posterior segment of the eye
is known as degenerative or pathological myopia. The degenerative changes can result in abnormal
visual function, such as a decrease in best corrected visual acuity or changes in visual fields.
Sequelae such as retinal detachment and glaucoma are relatively common.
5. Induced Myopia
Induced or acquired myopia is the result of exposure to various pharmaceutical agents, variation in
blood sugar levels, nuclear sclerosis of the crystalline lens, or other anomalous conditions. This
myopia is often temporary and

The Problem Of Using Microstrip Patch Antenna Has...
2.6.2 Radiation Pattern
Microstrip Patch Antenna has radiation patterns that can be simply calculated. The source of the
radiation of the electric field at the gap of the edge of the Microstrip element and the ground plane
is main factor to the accurate calculation of the pattern for the patch antenna.
Simply it can be said that the power radiated or received by the antenna is the function of angular
position and radial distribution from the antenna [24]. In the fig.24 [9] below we can see the side
view of the rectangular Microstrip element associated with source, and also the radiating of E fields.
The radiation pattern of a common dimensional antenna can be seen below, which has side lobe,
black lobes which are undesirable as they represent the energy that is wasted for transmitting
Antennas and noise sources at the receiving end.
2.6.3 Gain Directivity
The gain of the antenna defines the performance of the antenna or the capability to concentrate
energy through a direction which give a better picture of the radiation pattern. It is expressed in
dB, in a simple way we can say that this refers to the direction of the maximum radiation [24].
The expression for the maximum gain of an antenna is as follows:
G=О·xD Eq. (2.29)
О· The efficiency of the antenna.
D Directivity.
In order to receive or transmit the power it can be chosen to maximize

Dostoevsky’s Notes from Undergound
Dostoevsky s Notes from Undergound Reactions to an Overdeterministic Existence
Some of the works cited are missing
Dostoevsky presents his Notes from Undergound as the fragmented ramblings of an unnamed
narrator. On the surface, the character s narration appears disjointed and reaches no conclusive end
ing until the author intercedes to end the book. However, a close examination of the underground
man s language reveals a progression in his collected ravings. After expressing dissatisfaction with
the notion of determinism, the underground man perceives the irony of his ultra deterministic
reality. Through his narrative, the underground man discovers the truth about his predestined,
fictional existence. Dostoevsky s work is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The underground man s rebellion against determinism and its consequences has become one of the
most famous moments in modern thought, and with good reason (196). Morson observes that,
although the underground man denounces a deterministic world, he still believes that he lives in one.
The underground man s resentment of determinism produces irony in that the underground man s
true existence as a fictional character epitomizes determinism, as
Morson contends. Morson articulates the irony, stating:
Here Dostoevsky makes shrewd use of metaliterary devices. For all of his struggles to be free,
the underground man is doubly determined, not only from within the narrative world but also
from without; not only by the iron logic of spite governing his actions but also by the fact that he
is the creation of someone who has plotted all his actions in advance. His world is not just
deterministic but overdeterministic. What Dostoevsky has done here is to make the very fact that
the story is a story, that it has a structure and has already been written, a sign of failed choice and
futile self assertion (199).
The underground man struggles against the idea that his actions have been pre determined, yet the
reader knows that the outcome has already been decided and already exists as words in coming
chapters. The character makes no conscious choice in his existence because the author controls his
thoughts and actions. Morson uses a story that

Essay On President Jackson Domestic Affairs
President Jackson s Domestic affairs during his first term were extremely impactful to the United
States. During his campaign, he was extremely vague about his plans for reform. Jackson s first
order of business was to clear out the government offices and assign them to supports of himself
and the members of the Democratic party. This is known as the Spoils System. After Jackson
charged the Adams Bureaucracy with fraud, he decided that keeping the officials would be foolish.
He claimed that he was purging corruption and was offering jobs to citizens through a rotation of
office. that, and in choosing replacements he relied exclusively on recommendations from his own
people. Creating the spoils system of partisan manipulation of the patronage... Show more content

On this treacherous journey, nearly four thousand of them died from hunger, exhaustion,
exposure, and/or disease. Voters believe that actions like this were unforgivable, with the world
today it would not have been allowed or supported as it was in 1833. It was not as if Jackson
hated Indians, he was friendly with many of them. Jackson even took in an Indian orphan to live
in his house with him for companionship for his adopted son. He did believe that whites were of
higher standing though, and for that, he believed that for the Indians own survival, they needed to
get out of the whites way. In an excerpt from Jackson s letter to the Cherokees he says I have no
motive, my friends, to deceive you. I am sincerely desirous to promote your welfare. Listen to me,
therefore, while I tell you that you cannot remain where you now are. Circumstances that cannot be
controlled, and which are beyond the reach of human laws, render it impossible that you can

Essay Military Women Should NOT Be Allowed in Combat...
There are growing feelings in the United States that, as women are having more rights given to
them that were previously restricted, women should be given everything that is offered to men.
This is becoming very true in the military, where much sentiment is that women should be given the
opportunity to serve in combatarms positions. Women are currently allowed to serve in combat
support positions, such as militaryintelligence and air support positions, but they are not allowed to
serve in positions such as infantry, armor, or field artillery. Many believe that it is time to open
these positions to women soldiers and allow them to serve in the front lines of combat. Although
women are currently allowed to serve in combat support... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some counterparts also point out that many men may also be emotionally unstable in the rigors
of warfare, so keeping women out of combat positions for this reason is discriminating against
women. Overall, many feel that it is crippling to the idea of equality to not allow women to
serve in any position that they chose to in the military, and that women should be given the
opportunity to prove themselves able to do the job. Women should not be allowed to serve in
combat arms positions because many of them are not physically able to perform well in this
capacity. It is a known fact that, as a group, men are stronger than women. One of the primary
reasons that women are barred from combat arms positions is because their physical strength is
inferior to that of men and rightfully so. Combat arms positions requires great physical strength
and endurance to perform a multitude of physical tasks, including marching while carrying
weapons and heavy gear, hours of physical training, and lifting dead comrades during training
exercises. Of course a combat arms soldier s duties are endless, and most of them require much
strength and endurance. According to the February 1999 edition of Reader s Digest, a US Navy
study revealed that women possess half of the lifting power of men. This report also says that
women scoring in the top seven percent torso strength among women scored in the bottom seven
percent when compared to men (142). The torso is where most men in

Jason Medea
How do Jason s feelings at the end of the play differ from those revealed in other encounters?
In their first encounter, Jason appears to be trying to make himself feel as if he is better than
Medea, and as if he is the bigger person than she, You no doubt hate me: but I could never bear ill
will to you implies that he is a better person for helping her even though she hates him and that
even after all that s happened and all she has said he still could never bear ill will . He continues
to try and defend his actions, claiming it was for social status, that he didn t marry for love, but
for the fact that he wants to know they will have a good life and not be poor; also, as he marries
the King s daughter, his sons with Medea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later in this passage, he also refers to Medea as a foolish woman when she tries to send the
Coronet and dress to Glauce, and this theme of sexism is carried out a few lines later If my wife
values me at all she will yield to me more than to costly presents, I am sure of that ; again, the
attitude of the ancient Greek time was that women were to do what they were told, rather than what
they wanted. They were to be obedient, and not break any rules.
In the third and final encounter, at the end of the play, it appears Jasonhas reached his peripeteia,
his downfall. Medea, at this point, has killed their two sons and it is clear he loses complete
control of his emotions, and he begins wildly insulting Medea, calling her an abomination . It is
also earlier in this part that he calls her the woman I will kill. at the beginning of the play, he was
supposedly in love with her, whilst at the end, he wants nothing more than her to be dead. It
becomes obvious that Jason has realised what Medea is truly like, how manipulative and cunning
she is; and how she tricked him, in certain parts, at least, into believing she was just an obedient
wife to him. He claims

Symbols In The Truman Show
There are some names that have symbolism in the Truman Show that are very important to what
the show means and how we understand it. The names are Seahaven, Truman, Burbank,
Christof, Santa Maria, Simeon. Seahaven is a symbol because a sea can represent freedom in
Truman s case because he sailed to be free from the lies. A haven is a safe place. When you put
these two words together is makes Seahaven which represents a safe place to be free from the
real world and all of reality. Truman is a symbol because it is his name and it means he is a true
man. This also connects with a quote where Christof says While the world he inhabits is, in some
respects, counterfeit, there s nothing fake about Truman himself. This shows that Seahaven is fake

The Effects Of Parental Incarceration On Children s...
The Impact Parental Incarceration on Children s Development and Attachment Style
The greatest threat to a child s well being in the United States is parental incarceration The
Sentencing Project. A 500% increase has made The land of the Free the top country in the world for
housing inmates in its correctional facilities, with more than 2.2 million currently incarcerated
(BJS, 2011). Excusing one s views on the appropriateness of the justice system and incarceration, it
is evident that parental imprisonment disrupts the relationship between a parent and a child
tremendously. In addition to the absence of nurturance, economic stresses are heightened which can
cause the remaining family to become unstable. Because there has is not a lot of research dedicated
to the wellbeing of children who have a parent incarcerated, it is vital that more attention be paid to
the nations children. Our goal in this paper is to examine the impact of parental incarceration on
children s development and attachment style.
The background literature for this topic has been subdivided into three categories. To understand the
impact of incarceration we must first look at the parent child relationship, warm parental
interactions are associated with effective problem solving in adolescence and adulthood, while
hostile interactions are associated with destructive adolescent behavior (Ge, Best, Conger Simons,
1996a; Rueter conger, 1995). We must observe the

Changing Perspective From Global Warming

Dr. Christopher Carney ENGL 1301

Changing Perspective from Global Warming to Climate Change Global warming is one of the
biggest problems facing the world today. Global warming is the rise in the earth s mean surface
temperature due to increase of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which affects life forms on
the earth s surface. The scientific consensus as summarized by the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC) is that the global average surface temperature has risen over the last
century. Many scientists believe that global warming is caused mainly by the production of carbon
dioxide (greenhouse gas) and any fabricated pollution without taking into account the natural
factors. The earth is kept warm due to what is known as the greenhouse effect. Without it the
earth would be frozen; the short wave length of ultraviolet radiation coming from the sun
penetrates the atmosphere and is absorbed by the earth, which thereby warms the earth. These
gases are known as greenhouse gases. The effects of global warming include increased
temperature, rise in sea levels, increase in insects that spread disease and tropical storms. A
greenhouse gas does not cause these effects. The Great Global Warming Swindle documentary
shows a group of scientists through scientific research that carbon dioxide is not responsible for
global warming. They believe the real cause of global warming is the sun. Global warming is
caused by the sun

Natural Gas and Its use as a Alternative Fuel Compared to...
Natural Gas and Its use as a Alternative Fuel Compared to Gasoline Have you ever confused the
terms Natural Gas and Gasoline ? Well don t, because they are two very different types of gases.
Natural gas and Gasoline are considered fossil fuels to most scientists because it is believed they
were formed from the remains of sea animals and plants that died 200 400 million years ago.
These sea animals were then covered by layers of sediment and rock over time which caused them
to become buried deeper and deeper, until enormous amounts of pressure and heat turned them into
oil and gas. Raw natural gasis a mixture of different gasses and the main ingredient is methane, a
natural compound that is

They also set off small explosions or drop heavy (Preston, Benjamin I Feel Gassy 5.8.12)
weights on the surface and record the sound waves as they bounce back from the sedimentary rock
layers underground. (www.NEED.org 2011). Scientists may also measure the gravitational pull of
rock masses deep within the earth, yet the most widely used and effective way of finding
Natural gas is by drilling down through the layers of sedimentary rock to reach the rock formations
that contain oil and gas deposits. After natural gas comes out of the ground, it goes to a processing
plant where it is cleaned of impurities and separated into its various components.
Now, the type of natural gas that goes into automobiles is called Liquefied Natural Gas, or
LNG. The process for making LNG starts the same way as producing natural gas, except the
natural gas is cooled to 260 degrees Fahrenheit. By doing this, the natural gas changes into
LNG and its volume is reduced 600 times. Another exceptional way Natural gas is found is by 3
D and 4 D seismic imaging. This technique uses powerful technology from computers to help
determine accuracy in whereas to drill. Another technique used to find natural gas is called
Hydraulic fracturing. . This involves the injection of more than a million gallons of water, sand
and chemicals at high pressure, down and across into horizontally drilled wells as far as 10,000

Woman in Combat Essay
The idea of women in combat is not unusual anymore. They should be able to hold combat positions
beacause although physical strength matters, the military still needs the intelligence that women
can bring. Also, banning women from the combat hurts their military careers. Although women
account for only ten percent of the enlisted personnel (Time, 8/21/95/ Pg. 31), they are still a
major part in the armed forces. Their performance recently has generated support from Congress
and the public for enhancing the role of females in the military.
During the Persian Gulf War, women were sent to the Middle East to fly helicopters, service
combat jets, refuel tankers, and load laser guided bombs. Their performance has led the world to
realize that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In spite of their record as able combat personnel, there are laws and policies that restrict women in
the United States Military from serving in positions that require them to engage in direct combat.
Women in the Air Force and Navy are barred from aircraft and vessels that have a chance to be
exposed to combat. The official, established policies of the Army and Marine Corps exclude
women from combat (Snyder, pg. 75 76). These policies prohibit women, on the basis of gender
only, from over twelve percent of the skill positions and thirty nine percent of the total positions
offered by the Department of Defense. Such policies excluding women from combat need to be
repealed by Congress.
The Fourteenth Amendment s quot;Equal Protection Clause quot; insures every citizen quot;the
equal protection of the laws. quot; Although the clause is not applicable to Federal government, the
Supreme Court said the Due Process Clause in the Fifth Amendment prohibits the federal
government from making unreasonable classifications. Therefore the set laws and policies that
exclude women from combat not only violate the Fifth Amendment, but also deny women their
fundamental right to engage and excel in their chosen occupation. There have been many court
cases involving women in combat over the years, although there has never been a case directly
challenging the constitutionality

Summary Of The Enslavement Of Equally Capable People By...
The Enslavement Of Equally Capable People In addition to becoming one of the greatest challenges
to the US Constitution, slavery played a significant part of American history. The controversy of
whether or not the practice was constitutional became a leading cause of the bloodiest war in
American history. Benjamin Banneker, the African American farmer, astronomer, mathematician,
surveyor, author, and son of former slaves, writes to Thomas Jeffersonin an attempt to claim African
American equalityto whites and change Jefferson s pro slavery stance by emphasizing equality in
education and religion, forming an appeal to empathy, and creating a respectful yet critical tone.
Part of the pro slavery argument includes the idea that African Americans are inferior to whites
genetically and culturally. Through subtle implications in his writing, Banneker addresses this
ideology without directly claiming his equality to Jefferson and whites in general. Banneker
writes long, complex sentences that take up entire paragraphs. Additionally, Banneker uses
complex words and phrases to express his ideas such as providential preservation as well as
abhorrence thereof . In creating a complex style of writing through long sentences and educated
words, Banneker argues his point that he and his people are equal intellectually to whites without
even having to state it explicitly. An overwhelming majority of African Americans had no
opportunity to become educated due to their suppression; thus, Banneker suggests that if all his
people had the educational opportunity as he had, all could be on his level of literacy and
intelligence. Furthermore, Banneker alludes to the Bible constantly, most notably while quoting
the Bible to aid his appeal to empathy: and as Job proposed to his friends, put your souls in their
souls stead . The fact that Banneker was able to reference the Bible in a way that supplemented his
appeal to empathy emphasizes his biblical knowledge and accordingly cultural and religious
equality to Jefferson, who additionally was a well learned christian. Banneker now argues his point
through the persona of another Christian, which adds even more weight to his perspective

The Simulation Design Score Affects The Participant...

The goal of ordinary least squares (OLS) regression is to best predict one variable?s behavior
against another. For example, I would like to predict a participant?s Clinical Judgment Score
against the simulation?s Simulation Design Score. My research question is Does the Simulation
Design Score affect the participant Clinical Judgment Score? My hypothesis is that as the
Simulation Design Score increases the participant?s Clinical Judgment Score will also increase.
Therefore concluding the better the design of the simulation experience the better the participant
will learn clinical judgement skills. If the variables are positively correlated, as the Simulation
Design Scores increases the participants? Clinical Judgment Scores will increase. If the variables
are negatively correlated, as the Simulation Design Scores increase the participants? Clinical
Judgment Scores would decrease. If Clinical Judgment Scores do not react consistently in relation
to Simulation Design Scores, they are either non linear or are not correlated. 2.???????How does
regression work (statistically, what happens when you perform a regression)? To continue my
hypothetical research question: I would run a simulation and afterwards each participant would
evaluate the simulation using the Simulation Design Scale. Next

Double Standards In Chronicles Of A Death Fortold By...
In the Columbian society portrayed in the novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold by Gabriel
Marquez, there is a significant double standard regarding gender. They live in a world where
women have to follow extreme societal and cultural expectations. Men are encouraged to be
experienced in the bedroom for their weddingnight but if a woman is not a virgin, she is deemed
unfit to marry. Women are taught when they are brought up that lovecan be learned (page 35) and
that they must marry whoever impresses their familywhile men can choose whoever they want.
When she doesn t obey to the image of a perfect women Santiago Nasar is killed in the name of
her honor. The result of these double standards leads directly to the death of Santiago Nasar in
Chronicles of a Death Foretold. The idea that for women, love is something that can be taught
and they are brought up to suffer while men can choose whoever they would like especially if
they charm their family, is a significant unjust double standard that results in the death of Santiago
Nasar. Santiago was murdered for supposedly taking Angela s virginity. This was cause for his
death because not being a virgin deemed you unfit to be married and soiled or impure, she was
garbage if she wasn t a virgin.
When Bayardo San Roman found out she wasn t a virgin he returned her to her family, honor

Coming of Age in Mississippi and Segregation Essay
Coming of Age in Mississippi is an autobiography of the famous Anne Moody. Moody grew up in
mist of a Civil Rights Movement as a poor African American woman in rural Mississippi. Her story
comprises of her trials and tribulations from life in the South during the rise of the Civil Rights
movement. Life during this time embraced segregation, which made life for African Americans
rough. As an African Americanwoman growing up during the Civil Rights movement, Moody has a
unique story on themes like work and racial consciousness present during this time. Moody s
position as an African American woman provides a unique insight into these themes through her
story. As a little girl, Moody would sit on the porch of her house watch her parents go... Show more

I liked everything about the Johnson s house... It was everything ours wasn t (Moody 41). This
was the beginning of her racial consciousness between whites and blacks. However, fully
understanding what was going on around her in the world between white and blacks would be
very difficult for a young girl. Even though this is a very basic theme of segregation, this was the
first experience Moody had to it, and it was the beginning to her charge for equality. Through
work, Moody would slowly start to realize more things about segregation and how it impacts
African Americans and her life. As Moody grew up in the South, in the middle of the Civil
Rights Movement, she began to understand segregation on a larger context. Her work
experiences tell us a lot about racial segregation and inequality. As work offered women new
opportunities outside the house, it was different for African American women. They would
work in trades least affected by mechanism, like domestic services, such as maids for white
families. Moody and her mother both worked to help support the family and worked domestic
service jobs. After Linda Mae moves away, Moody had to work somewhere to help support the
family, so she worked for Mrs. Burke, even though she was very racist. Moody explains the
reason she stuck with it and worked for Mrs. Burke, I had to help secure that plate of beans
(Moody 116). Moody and African Americans a like, were working for more than just making

Responsible Tourism
Retention of Visitor spending: The key to achieving economic sustainability for tourism in (i.e.
California and Giants Causeway) is maximising the economic retention of tourist spending in your
local economy. The sustainable tourism businesses need to develop strategies that are capable of
meeting the long term economic needs and aspirations of the local community. If the communities
are engaged by tourismorganisations as stakeholders in tourism, and economic partners in the
tourism industry, this will actively support local tourism businesses. Tourism is a rapidly growing
industry and has far reaching economic and environmental impact across the destinations; hence, if

Training and employment of local people tourism education: The travel and tourism originations
should employ local people wherever possible. Where local people lack of the necessary skills,
training programmes should be implemented. An example is Sandals in the Caribbean, who claim
to have compulsory training for 120 hours per year for line staff in their hotels.
Visitors and traffic management: Reducing the impacts on sensitive natural areas would enable
the local communities to protect and sustain for future generations. The Peak District National
Park could be shown as an example, as they have visitors from all around the world and it has
enormous impact on social life s as well as the landscape of the visiting places. By restricting, the
visitor numbers would essentially lead them to cover most of the areas and it will reduce the traffic.
They can minimise the risks by enforcing external visitors to visit at certain time, which will create
an opportunity for protection and other things.
Planning control: Restrictions on the quantity and type of building help prevent a destination
becoming over developed. In Majorca, tourism has become the most important source of revenue
to the economy. Parts of the island have become over developed due to mass tourism. Eventually
action had to be taken to try and reverse the decline in the islands image

Mr Crumpler Observation
Based on the observations and recounts of Mr. Crumpler in accordance with the provided inventory
workpapers, it is fairly reasonable to assume that Apollo Shoes inventory counts are accurate.
Apollo Shoes inventory count instructions are sufficient to control for errors and provide for
separation of duties, error checking, and prohibit the sale and movement of inventory during their
inventory count. Mr. Crumpler noted the amount of shoe boxes per pallet and a recently received
shipment of shoes. He also sampled a selection of Apollo Shoes count sheets and all of the count
sheets matched his counts (note that Crumpler did not indicate how he chose the count sheets and
it could be indicative of nonstatistical sampling). Mr. Crumpler also discovered

Talk Radio Censorship
Over the years, talk radio censorship has become a bigger issue. The FCC (The Federal
Communications Commission) has become a large part in regulating the business of talk radio
due to the fact that some people impose on some of the topics or language used during the
broadcasts. Many people find them offensive and should not be allowed to be broadcasted without
some type of notification that it is going on or is inappropriate for children or just in general. The
censorship of talk radio has become a large issue with broadcasters having special rights during
airing, special rights meaning broadcastingopenly about any topic, and this could be solved by not
giving people who broadcast stations this power. The FCC has been monitoring large radio
stations throughout the country for a long time now. This organization is a seven part group
which is all run by Frank R. McNinch, who used to be the chief of the Federal Power
Commission (Rockwell 217). This organization is primarily a licensing and monitoring assembly,
which has technical regulatory powers. The licenses they give out are only valid for a period of
time, and then must be renewed. These licenses decide the power and coverage the station has to
broadcast on (Rockwell 218). These guidelines are very strictly enforced by the FCC because of
how the public has reacted to some of the situations that have occurred. The FCC has also created
criteria which has a public mandate that they are instituting into

Strategys Against Cancer
Cancer is one of the main leading causes of deaths worldwide. The reason for this is due to the
poor results of the conventional chemotherapy. The primary cause of this is owing to the lack of
selectivity of these drugs. Low molecular weight drugs can enter all types of cells by random
diffusion, hence they not only attack tumorcells but they also attack healthy cells with the same
potency resulting in severe toxicity. Hence, scientists need to develop strategies to selectively target
drugs to tumor cells, to prevent the toxic side effects. One of the most effective strategies to
overcome this problem is to exploit the anatomical and pathophysiological abnormalities of tumor
tissues such as the enhanced permeation and retention (EPR) effect for anticancer drug delivery.
EPR effect is basically the gradual accumulation and retention of certain size molecules (such as
nanoparticles, liposomes and macromolecular drugs) in tumor tissues.
2. EPR Effect
When tumor cells proliferate and reach the size of 2mm3, the cells go into a state of hypoxia as
the current vasculature fails to provide sufficient oxygen supply. As a result of this, cells start to die
and secrete various growth factors that cause the formation of new blood vessels from the existing
ones. This process is known as angiogenesis. The new blood vessels formed are irregular in shape
and are defective. They have discontinuous epithelium with large fenestrations ranging from 200
2000 nm depending on the tumor type

that the program has been peer evaluated and found worthy . Accreditation allows the program to be

Analysis of the Case Law
Analysis of the Case Law There is no prescribed constitutional relationship between the courts and
the executive, but the judges assert their inherent power, derived from the rule of law, to review
executive actions
The question starts off by giving us an element of the separation of powers when it says that there is
no prescribed constitutional relationship between the courts and the executives.
The concept of separation of powers propounded by Montesquieu, the French political philosopher,
has three main criteria:
(i) There are three main classes of governmental functions: the legislature, the executive and ...

The starting point for judicial review of administrative action is that public authorities will be
restrained from exceeding their powers (acting ultra vires) and inferior tribunals will be prevented
from exceeding the limits of their jurisdiction. This important constitutional function of containing
both the Executive and inferior tribunals within the limits of their authority has long been exercised
by the courts. In the seventeenth century it was established that the Crown could not set itself
above the law by a bare assertion of prerogative. Today, the ultra vires doctrine prevents public
authorities from doing anything the law forbids, or taking action for which they have no statutory
authority.
The term Ultra vires was first generally used to denote excess of legal authority by independent
statutory bodies and railway companies in the middle years of nineteenth century,[2] though the
main features to the doctrine to which this name was given had already been taking shape over a
long period in relation to the powers of common law corporations. The term came to be used in
relation to municipal corporations, then to the other new types of local government authorities, and
finally to the Crown and its servants and even to inferior judicial bodies.

Evaluate The Role Of Tnc
There are so many ways to evaluate the role of TNCs, and how they shape and contribute to the
economy. Before all this one must understand what globalization is and why it is very important to
TNCs. Globalization is simply the integration of culture, trade, natural resources and factors of
production between nations. But, economic globalizationrefers to increasing economic
interdependence of national economies across the world through a rapid increase in cross border
movement of goods, services, technology and capital (Shangquan, 2000). The main key players are
transnational corporations (TNC) sometimes known as multinational corporations (MNC).TNC s
are firms that have attained the power needed to co ordinate and operate across the boundaries of
many nations. Usually the main purpose of TNCs is to maximize profit and increase their selling
market. This is why many TNCs are interested in globalization because without an effective and
free tradeglobal economy, many (if not all) will not be able to function and be successful. Some
economist feel differently about how TNC s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is interesting to say that one of the earliest roots of transnational corporations can be traced
backed to the major colonizing and imperialist ventures from Western Europe, notably England and
Holland (Greer and Singh, 2000). However, the structure of transnational corporations we know
today did not really begin until the early 19th century. It is around this time that the development of
factories, more capital intensive manufacturing processes; better storage techniques; and faster
means of transportation were developed. Also the search of natural resources such as gold,
diamond, sliver, petroleum, and even some foodstuffs as well, brought about the need to increase
markets and this drove transnational expansion by companies almost exclusively from the United
States and a handful of Western European nations (Greer and Singh,

Why Death Is Accepted As A Natural Part Of The Process Essay
Similarly, a study taken from the International Journal of Older People Nursing shows that that in
one third of the cases, nursing staff members who were caring for residents who died with dementia
reported that they experienced what they perceived as a high emotional burden (Albers, Block,
Stichele 2013). Healthcare workers in another study reported feelings of guilt and moral dilemma
regarding patient deaths (Dwyer, Hansebo, Andershed, and Ternestedt 2009). In this same study it
is important to note that the participants acknowledged that deathis accepted as a natural part of the
process, however it was the circumstances under which the residents died and the employees
employee s feelings of personal responsibility for meeting individualized needs of the residents that
upset the employees the most. Most caretakers enter enters the profession due to a desire help
others, and it is inevitable that they form bonds with the residents they care for. This feeling of
responsibility coupled with the sheer frequency of experiencing the death of residents they care for
can in turn generate depressive symptoms.
What Is Not Currently Known About Depression and Healthcare Workers
Though studies have been done regarding the prevalence of depression among nursing home and
palliative care residents, little has been formed on the healthcare workers that come in contact with

Natural Monopoly Supplies All for a Lower Price
atural monopoly is a type of monopoly that was because of high fixed or set up cost of operating
a business in an industry. And governments often regulate those in operation, to make sure that
every consumer can get a fair deal. In fact, the size of production that can achieve productive
efficiency may be a high proportion of the total demand of the products in the industry. Natural
monopolies are often associated with industries sector where there is a high ratio of fixed to
variable costs. For example, for a product to establish a national distribution network the fixed
cost can be enormous but the marginal cost of each additional output supply can be very small.
Natural monopoly occurs when one large business can supply the entire market at a lower price
than two or more smaller ones, which there cannot be more than one efficient provider of a
good. In this situation, competition might increase costs and prices. It is an industry where the
minimum efficient scale is a large share of total market demand such there is room for only one
firm to fully exploit all of the available internal economies of scale, and the industry has long run
average cost curve falls continuously as output rises. Market failure is when resources cannot be
efficiently allocated due to the fault of price mechanism caused by factors such as establishment
of monopolies. It s also used to describe when market can t satisfy public interest, and will result of
a loss of economic and social welfare.

Case Brief of Illinois v. Caballes
Case Brief of Illinois v. Caballes Citation: 543 U.S. 405 (2005) Case Facts: Roy Caballes was
stopped for speeding by an Illinois state trooper Daniel Gillette. During the traffic stop another
state trooper Craig Graham of the Illinois State Police Drug Interdiction Team, overheard the
stop on the radio and showed up to the scene with a narcotics detection dog. While the first
trooper was writing Roy Caballes a warning ticket for speeding the second trooper walked
around Roy s car with the narcotics detection dog. The dog alerted that it had detected narcotics
at the rear end of the car which subsequently led to the state troopers searching the trunk of the
car. Upon searching the trunk of the car the state troopers found a large quantity of marijuana
which consequently led to the arrest of Roy Caballes. The entire incident lasted no longer than
10 minutes. Roy Caballes was convicted of a narcotics offence and was sentenced to 12 years in

during the course of a routine traffic stop violate the Fourth Amendment s protections against
unreasonable searches and seizures? Case Procedural History: Roy Caballes tried to suppress the
drugs seized in the stop by claiming that the state troopers did not have probable cause to search

Universal Basic Income (UBI)

The great paradox of our time is that productivity has never been higher and technology is
developing faster than ever before, but real wages and labor force participation have declined. If
we accept the notion that individuals have a moral, societal, and economic obligation to society to
work, then whose responsibility is it in society to ensure that adequate work exists for individuals?
As hard as it may be, the first thing for workers and politicians to do is to accept the reality of our
time that no matter how hard one works, jobs have been lost much more to technology than to
international trade, and are never coming back. Since it is unclear whether or not new jobs will be

However, similar to Universal Basic Income, it too would go against the basic instincts of the
Protestant work ethic, in that it would decouple money and work by giving money to everyone.
Perplexingly, those who do not work but otherwise receive a passive income through their

lower than income taxes. This is a direct contradiction of the essence of the Protestant work ethic.
With regard to educational inequality, one argument is to revamp science and technology
education and teach computer science and coding from an early age. On the other hand, as
technological change continues to accelerate, those skills may be obsolete by the time a student

The Classical Music And Jazz
Yusuke Sato
Professor Dana
ILAC Pathway 3
25 September 2015Classical music and Jazz
What people come up with when they hear the words classical music is a big concert hall, while
what people come up with is a small bar or something when they hear jazz . It seems they are
different as they are named differently, but are they really different? Also, given that the
mainstream in the music industry is popular music, both classical music and jazz are not
appreciated by many people, but how have these two music survived up until today?
Firstly, it is necessary to look back into their histories in order to understand how they have
developed. Classical music dates back more than one thousand years ago, which is called
Medieval era and was succeeded by Renaissance era. And then when it entered Baroque era,
where the father of music Johann Sebastian Bach thrived, there were the forms of classical music
that are similar to something which is often heard today. However, in these old eras, classical
music was a liturgical music. It was played mostly in a church. Also, it was favored by royals or
aristocrats. Even Bach was hired by some aristocrats and composed great works for them. When it
reached the eighteenth century, although classical music was still ecclesiastical music, classical
music became popularized due to concerts and recitals. And then it entered Impressionist era,
suggestion and atmosphere came to the foreground as important factors. The word

Title of consider
Where there are problems, they are often with the way the Australian federal system operates, rather
than with federalism itself. Rather than criticising our federal system, we should be working to
make better use of its advantages
in order to improve our prosperity. In particular, the reform of
the allocation of powers and responsibilities between the Commonwealth and the States, and reform
of fiscal federalism, are desperately needed. (Twomey and Withers, 2007)
Twomey and Withers argue the approach of strategic pragmatism as outlined in Wanna s paper. The
basis of their position is that the federalism structure is unlikely to be subject to major redesign and
the discussion should focus on improving current operation.

Henry D. Thoreau s views on nature, society, and man.
Thoreau Views on Nature, Society, and Man
Henry David Thoreau s life began on July 12, 1817 in Concord, Massachusetts. At a young age he
began to show an interest in writing. In 1833, at the age of sixteen, Thoreau was accepted to
Harvard University. Although his parents could not afford the cost of tuition, his family offered to
help with the funds, and in August he entered Harvard. In 1837 he graduated and applied for a
teaching position at a public school in Concord. However, he refused to flog children as
punishment. He choose instead to deliver moral lectures. The community looked down upon this,
and a committee was asked to review the situation. They decided that the lectures were not ample
punishment, so they ordered Thoreau to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Walden, he questions the lifestyles that people choose. He makes his readers wonder if they
have been chosen the kind of life that will really offer them happiness. Are they merely living a
career or some other narrowly routine or is a worthwhile life being lived. Thoreau wonders if the
truly valuable elements of life are being taken advantage of if a person is not living simply. If a
person is so caught up in working or never having enough in life, one wonders, and satisfaction are
difficult to obtain. As he states in the beginning Walden, most men, even in this comparatively free
country, though mere ignorance and mistake, are so occupied with the factitious cares and
superfluously coarse labors of life that is finer fruits cannot be plucked by them (Thoreau 6). This
means that people care more about the finer things in life and easier work instead of nature s gifts
and hard work. Thoreau draws a parallel between others preoccupation with money and his own
enjoyment of non monetary wealth.
Thoreau discusses the issue of how we spend our time and energies. It is obvious that his
townspeople are not as economical as they spend many hours working very hard to accomplish
very little, showing a false sense of economy. Thoreau believed that all attempts to redeem mankind
form its problems were

Military Technology Research Paper
Military Technologies #2 War is a very strange thing. There are many controversies about it. TV
shows, movies, books, and even toys are being included in the mass culture that is the military. One
of the main controversies of war is the use of drones. As one military colonel puts it, Wars are a
human phenomenon, arising from human needs for human purposes. This makes human
participation at some level critical, or the entire exercise becomes pointless (Col. Adams). He is not
wrong. To the contrary, there are many other arguments. One of the strongest oppositions is that the
participation of robots can save lives. Robots do not have to necessarily replace humans on the
front line. They... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It probably has one or two rotors, correct? In a few years, that will even change. There are new
Valor Helicopters that have 3 4 rotors and can fly faster than a jet. They can carry massive
payloads that were once reserved for cargo planes. They also have more maneuverability,
allowing maximum agility in fights. They are now being equipped with larger weapons, which
can decimate any opposition they may encounter along the way to their deployment. They have
large troop bays than today s largest helicopters and can carry larger missiles. One main
enhancement is the rotating rotors. This allows easily controlled vertical takeoff and landing, and
makes it easier to turn and pivot. Another upgrade is the weapons systems. The new versions can
autonomously track threats, allowing firing capability while flying, much like jets can do. These
plane like helicopters can Travel at airplane like speeds greater than 230 knots, achieve a combat
radius of 434 kilometers, use a stronger engine and operate in what s called high hot conditions of
6,000 feet and 95 degrees Fahrenheit (Kris Osborn), which means that the new generation of
helicopters are better in every way than the current helicopters in deployment. This is a major step

The Positive Impact Of Peter The Great s Impact On Russia
Prior to Peter the Great taking reign, the Russian society was in a rough condition. The economy
was failing and the country s standing army was extremely weak. Russia was also in the midst of
a war against the Ottoman Turkish Empire, with a goal to secure a Russian port on the northern
coast of the Black Sea. Peter the Great ruled over Russiafrom 1682 1752.He tried to form warm
water ports so they had the ability to trade in the in the winter seasons. He also tried to improve
Russia and modernize the culture. As an effect of these things, Peter the Great had an overall
positive impact on Russia during his rule.
Peter the Great was born to TsarAlexis and grew up differently than many people of his time.
Peter proved a healthy child, lively and inquisitive. It is probably significant to his development
that his mother s former guardian, Artamon Sergeyevich Matveyev, had raised her in an
atmosphere open to progressive influences from the West (Britannica Academica). The fact that
he grew up with a significant figure in his life who favored the west, shaped his views in a major
way. Later in his reign, he focused on western civilizations and how they thrived. Peter tried to
implicate the same influences in Russia to further try and modernize and advance the culture,
society, and government. Peter was a very lively and energetic child. When Alexis died in 1676
Peter was only four years old. His elder half brother, a sickly youth, then succeeded to the throne as

Singing In The Rain
I went into this class last week thinking I would not enjoy this movie because it is a musical and
because it was also filmed in 1952. However, I surprisingly really enjoyed this movie. I believe that
the songs, dancing, and the storyline in Singing in the Rain came together really well and captured
my attention throughout the whole movie. Singing in the Rain incorporates many songs and
dances which substitutes many of the actors dialogue throughout the movie. I believe this allowed
the characters in Singing in the Rain to really be able to express their emotions in a different way
rather than strictly using dialogue. For example, Don Lockwood sings and dances in the rain when
he realizes he was falling in love with Kathy towards the end of

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For a large, established business like the Virgin group it is recommended that an MBO approach be utilised in the establishment of goals and objectives for succession plans. In this management system, specific performance goals are jointly determined by employees and their managers, progress towards accomplishing these goals is periodically reviewed, and rewards are allocated on the basis of this progress (Robbins et. al., 2009). This method is ideal for creating goals and objectives for succession plans as by incorporating the entire company as part of the process they are preparing the organisation for a strategic change. An MBO approach requires participation from all members of a business. It has been proven through recent studies that best practice organizations effectively integrate leadership development and succession planning systems by fully utilizing managerial personnel in the creation of succession plans (Groves, 2008).
  • 3. As mentioned in the case study, the Virgin Group is made up of multiple independent businesses and consequently possesses different management styles and different expectations. Therefore, for the MBO method to be successful for the group, leaders from each of these independent businesses along with Richard Branson will need to be participative in the establishment of goals and objectives. The company would have to be prudent in using this method as studies have found this process to be unsuccessful when top management have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. An Effective Human Resource Management Department Because it serves as the direct link to all the various operations that make up our company, Human Resources management is vital to our current and future success. For us to prosper and satisfy our customers, Forever 21 must have an effective Human Resource Management department, one that can provide proper knowledge, necessary tools, and effective advice to guide employees and administrators towards successful operation (Heathfield What is Human... ). Since our debut, we ve been continuously profitable. However, our downside is that we have been primarily focusing on targeting the customer, when we need to apply a different approach: we need to empower our employees and their passion for the job. Investing in our employees motivationwill not only allow us to grow in sales, but also as an overall company. Our most important goal would be to build our workers intrinsic motivation. In doing so, we would increase their desire to perform an action or behave in a certain way because they enjoy the job or activity itself (Williams Intrinsic Motivation... ). According to GlassDoor, a website in which former or current employees of an organization review the job, Forever 21 holds a lot of negative reviews of the working conditions and especially the upper managementwhich, in some cases, was the cause of people s departure from the company. • 5. Pseudo Myopi The Refractive Anomaly Of The Eye INTRODUCTION Myopia is the refractive anomaly of the eye in which close objects appears clearly, while objects far away appear blurry. With myopia, light comes to focus in front of the retina instead of on the retina Myopia is the major refractive error having a worldwide prevalence of 1.5 billion. Children with Myopia feel difficulties in viewing blackboard in school; they avoid outdoor activities and get isolated from the peer groups. Untreated myopia may lead to Macular degeneration, Glaucoma, Cataract, Retinal detachment. Myopia occurs if the eyeball is too long or the cornea (the clear front cover of the eye) is too curved. As a result, the light entering the eye isn t focused correctly, and distant objects look blurred. Even though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because there is insufficient contrast for an adequate accommodative stimulus, the eye assumes the intermediate dark focus accommodative position rather than focusing for infinity. 3. Pseudo myopia Pseudo myopia is the result of an increase in ocular refractive power due to overstimulation of the eye s accommodative mechanism or ciliary spasm. The condition is so named because the patient only appears to have myopia due to an inappropriate accommodative response. 4. Degenerative Myopia A high degree of myopia associated with degenerative changes in the posterior segment of the eye is known as degenerative or pathological myopia. The degenerative changes can result in abnormal visual function, such as a decrease in best corrected visual acuity or changes in visual fields. Sequelae such as retinal detachment and glaucoma are relatively common. 5. • 6. The Problem Of Using Microstrip Patch Antenna Has... 2.6.2 Radiation Pattern Microstrip Patch Antenna has radiation patterns that can be simply calculated. The source of the radiation of the electric field at the gap of the edge of the Microstrip element and the ground plane is main factor to the accurate calculation of the pattern for the patch antenna. Simply it can be said that the power radiated or received by the antenna is the function of angular position and radial distribution from the antenna [24]. In the fig.24 [9] below we can see the side view of the rectangular Microstrip element associated with source, and also the radiating of E fields. The radiation pattern of a common dimensional antenna can be seen below, which has side lobe, black lobes which are undesirable as they represent the energy that is wasted for transmitting Antennas and noise sources at the receiving end. 2.6.3 Gain Directivity The gain of the antenna defines the performance of the antenna or the capability to concentrate energy through a direction which give a better picture of the radiation pattern. It is expressed in dB, in a simple way we can say that this refers to the direction of the maximum radiation [24]. The expression for the maximum gain of an antenna is as follows: G=О·xD Eq. (2.29) О· The efficiency of the antenna. D Directivity. In order to receive or transmit the power it can be chosen to maximize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Dostoevsky’s Notes from Undergound Dostoevsky s Notes from Undergound Reactions to an Overdeterministic Existence Some of the works cited are missing Dostoevsky presents his Notes from Undergound as the fragmented ramblings of an unnamed narrator. On the surface, the character s narration appears disjointed and reaches no conclusive end ing until the author intercedes to end the book. However, a close examination of the underground man s language reveals a progression in his collected ravings. After expressing dissatisfaction with the notion of determinism, the underground man perceives the irony of his ultra deterministic reality. Through his narrative, the underground man discovers the truth about his predestined, fictional existence. Dostoevsky s work is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The underground man s rebellion against determinism and its consequences has become one of the most famous moments in modern thought, and with good reason (196). Morson observes that, although the underground man denounces a deterministic world, he still believes that he lives in one. The underground man s resentment of determinism produces irony in that the underground man s true existence as a fictional character epitomizes determinism, as Morson contends. Morson articulates the irony, stating: Here Dostoevsky makes shrewd use of metaliterary devices. For all of his struggles to be free, the underground man is doubly determined, not only from within the narrative world but also from without; not only by the iron logic of spite governing his actions but also by the fact that he is the creation of someone who has plotted all his actions in advance. His world is not just deterministic but overdeterministic. What Dostoevsky has done here is to make the very fact that the story is a story, that it has a structure and has already been written, a sign of failed choice and futile self assertion (199). The underground man struggles against the idea that his actions have been pre determined, yet the reader knows that the outcome has already been decided and already exists as words in coming chapters. The character makes no conscious choice in his existence because the author controls his thoughts and actions. Morson uses a story that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay On President Jackson Domestic Affairs President Jackson s Domestic affairs during his first term were extremely impactful to the United States. During his campaign, he was extremely vague about his plans for reform. Jackson s first order of business was to clear out the government offices and assign them to supports of himself and the members of the Democratic party. This is known as the Spoils System. After Jackson charged the Adams Bureaucracy with fraud, he decided that keeping the officials would be foolish. He claimed that he was purging corruption and was offering jobs to citizens through a rotation of office. that, and in choosing replacements he relied exclusively on recommendations from his own people. Voters believe that actions like this were unforgivable, with the world today it would not have been allowed or supported as it was in 1833. It was not as if Jackson hated Indians, he was friendly with many of them. Jackson even took in an Indian orphan to live in his house with him for companionship for his adopted son. He did believe that whites were of higher standing though, and for that, he believed that for the Indians own survival, they needed to get out of the whites way. In an excerpt from Jackson s letter to the Cherokees he says I have no motive, my friends, to deceive you. I am sincerely desirous to promote your welfare. Listen to me, therefore, while I tell you that you cannot remain where you now are. • 9. Essay Military Women Should NOT Be Allowed in Combat... There are growing feelings in the United States that, as women are having more rights given to them that were previously restricted, women should be given everything that is offered to men. This is becoming very true in the military, where much sentiment is that women should be given the opportunity to serve in combatarms positions. Women are currently allowed to serve in combat support positions, such as militaryintelligence and air support positions, but they are not allowed to serve in positions such as infantry, armor, or field artillery. Many believe that it is time to open these positions to women soldiers and allow them to serve in the front lines of combat. Although women are currently allowed to serve in combat support... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some counterparts also point out that many men may also be emotionally unstable in the rigors of warfare, so keeping women out of combat positions for this reason is discriminating against women. Overall, many feel that it is crippling to the idea of equality to not allow women to serve in any position that they chose to in the military, and that women should be given the opportunity to prove themselves able to do the job. Women should not be allowed to serve in combat arms positions because many of them are not physically able to perform well in this capacity. It is a known fact that, as a group, men are stronger than women. One of the primary reasons that women are barred from combat arms positions is because their physical strength is inferior to that of men and rightfully so. Combat arms positions requires great physical strength and endurance to perform a multitude of physical tasks, including marching while carrying weapons and heavy gear, hours of physical training, and lifting dead comrades during training exercises. Of course a combat arms soldier s duties are endless, and most of them require much strength and endurance. According to the February 1999 edition of Reader s Digest, a US Navy study revealed that women possess half of the lifting power of men. This report also says that women scoring in the top seven percent torso strength among women scored in the bottom seven percent when compared to men (142). The torso is where most men in ... In their first encounter, Jason appears to be trying to make himself feel as if he is better than Medea, and as if he is the bigger person than she, You no doubt hate me: but I could never bear ill will to you implies that he is a better person for helping her even though she hates him and that even after all that s happened and all she has said he still could never bear ill will . Later in this passage, he also refers to Medea as a foolish woman when she tries to send the Coronet and dress to Glauce, and this theme of sexism is carried out a few lines later If my wife values me at all she will yield to me more than to costly presents, I am sure of that ; again, the attitude of the ancient Greek time was that women were to do what they were told, rather than what they wanted. They were to be obedient, and not break any rules. In the third and final encounter, at the end of the play, it appears Jasonhas reached his peripeteia, his downfall. Medea, at this point, has killed their two sons and it is clear he loses complete control of his emotions, and he begins wildly insulting Medea, calling her an abomination . It is also earlier in this part that he calls her the woman I will kill. at the beginning of the play, he was supposedly in love with her, whilst at the end, he wants nothing more than her to be dead. It becomes obvious that Jason has realised what Medea is truly like, how manipulative and cunning she is; and how she tricked him, in certain parts, at least, into believing she was just an obedient wife to him. • 11. Symbols In The Truman Show There are some names that have symbolism in the Truman Show that are very important to what the show means and how we understand it. The names are Seahaven, Truman, Burbank, Christof, Santa Maria, Simeon. Seahaven is a symbol because a sea can represent freedom in Truman s case because he sailed to be free from the lies. A haven is a safe place. When you put these two words together is makes Seahaven which represents a safe place to be free from the real world and all of reality. Truman is a symbol because it is his name and it means he is a true man. The Impact Parental Incarceration on Children s Development and Attachment Style The greatest threat to a child s well being in the United States is parental incarceration The Sentencing Project. A 500% increase has made The land of the Free the top country in the world for housing inmates in its correctional facilities, with more than 2.2 million currently incarcerated (BJS, 2011). Excusing one s views on the appropriateness of the justice system and incarceration, it is evident that parental imprisonment disrupts the relationship between a parent and a child tremendously. In addition to the absence of nurturance, economic stresses are heightened which can cause the remaining family to become unstable. Because there has is not a lot of research dedicated to the wellbeing of children who have a parent incarcerated, it is vital that more attention be paid to the nations children. Our goal in this paper is to examine the impact of parental incarceration on children s development and attachment style. The background literature for this topic has been subdivided into three categories. To understand the impact of incarceration we must first look at the parent child relationship, warm parental interactions are associated with effective problem solving in adolescence and adulthood, while hostile interactions are associated with destructive adolescent behavior (Ge, Best, Conger Simons, 1996a; Rueter conger, 1995). • 13. Changing Perspective From Global Warming Offor 1 Chiamaka Offor Dr. Christopher Carney ENGL 1301 20 June 2016 Changing Perspective from Global Warming to Climate Change Global warming is one of the biggest problems facing the world today. Global warming is the rise in the earth s mean surface temperature due to increase of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which affects life forms on the earth s surface. The scientific consensus as summarized by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is that the global average surface temperature has risen over the last century. Many scientists believe that global warming is caused mainly by the production of carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas) and any fabricated pollution without taking into account the natural factors. The earth is kept warm due to what is known as the greenhouse effect. Without it the earth would be frozen; the short wave length of ultraviolet radiation coming from the sun penetrates the atmosphere and is absorbed by the earth, which thereby warms the earth. These gases are known as greenhouse gases. The effects of global warming include increased temperature, rise in sea levels, increase in insects that spread disease and tropical storms. A greenhouse gas does not cause these effects. The Great Global Warming Swindle documentary shows a group of scientists through scientific research that carbon dioxide is not responsible for global warming. They believe the real cause of global warming is the sun. Global warming is caused by the sun ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well don t, because they are two very different types of gases. Natural gas and Gasoline are considered fossil fuels to most scientists because it is believed they were formed from the remains of sea animals and plants that died 200 400 million years ago. These sea animals were then covered by layers of sediment and rock over time which caused them to become buried deeper and deeper, until enormous amounts of pressure and heat turned them into oil and gas. They also set off small explosions or drop heavy (Preston, Benjamin I Feel Gassy 5.8.12) weights on the surface and record the sound waves as they bounce back from the sedimentary rock layers underground. (www.NEED.org 2011). Scientists may also measure the gravitational pull of rock masses deep within the earth, yet the most widely used and effective way of finding Natural gas is by drilling down through the layers of sedimentary rock to reach the rock formations that contain oil and gas deposits. After natural gas comes out of the ground, it goes to a processing plant where it is cleaned of impurities and separated into its various components. Now, the type of natural gas that goes into automobiles is called Liquefied Natural Gas, or LNG. The process for making LNG starts the same way as producing natural gas, except the natural gas is cooled to 260 degrees Fahrenheit. By doing this, the natural gas changes into LNG and its volume is reduced 600 times. Another exceptional way Natural gas is found is by 3 D and 4 D seismic imaging. This technique uses powerful technology from computers to help determine accuracy in whereas to drill. Another technique used to find natural gas is called Hydraulic fracturing. . They should be able to hold combat positions beacause although physical strength matters, the military still needs the intelligence that women can bring. Also, banning women from the combat hurts their military careers. Although women account for only ten percent of the enlisted personnel (Time, 8/21/95/ Pg. 31), they are still a major part in the armed forces. Their performance recently has generated support from Congress and the public for enhancing the role of females in the military. During the Persian Gulf War, women were sent to the Middle East to fly helicopters, service combat jets, refuel tankers, and load laser guided bombs. Their performance has led the world to realize that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In spite of their record as able combat personnel, there are laws and policies that restrict women in the United States Military from serving in positions that require them to engage in direct combat. Women in the Air Force and Navy are barred from aircraft and vessels that have a chance to be exposed to combat. The official, established policies of the Army and Marine Corps exclude women from combat (Snyder, pg. 75 76). These policies prohibit women, on the basis of gender only, from over twelve percent of the skill positions and thirty nine percent of the total positions offered by the Department of Defense. Such policies excluding women from combat need to be repealed by Congress. The Fourteenth Amendment s quot;Equal Protection Clause quot; insures every citizen quot;the equal protection of the laws. quot; Although the clause is not applicable to Federal government, the Supreme Court said the Due Process Clause in the Fifth Amendment prohibits the federal government from making unreasonable classifications. Therefore the set laws and policies that exclude women from combat not only violate the Fifth Amendment, but also deny women their fundamental right to engage and excel in their chosen occupation. The Enslavement Of Equally Capable People In addition to becoming one of the greatest challenges to the US Constitution, slavery played a significant part of American history. The controversy of whether or not the practice was constitutional became a leading cause of the bloodiest war in American history. Benjamin Banneker, the African American farmer, astronomer, mathematician, surveyor, author, and son of former slaves, writes to Thomas Jeffersonin an attempt to claim African American equalityto whites and change Jefferson s pro slavery stance by emphasizing equality in education and religion, forming an appeal to empathy, and creating a respectful yet critical tone. Part of the pro slavery argument includes the idea that African Americans are inferior to whites genetically and culturally. Through subtle implications in his writing, Banneker addresses this ideology without directly claiming his equality to Jefferson and whites in general. Banneker writes long, complex sentences that take up entire paragraphs. Additionally, Banneker uses complex words and phrases to express his ideas such as providential preservation as well as abhorrence thereof . In creating a complex style of writing through long sentences and educated words, Banneker argues his point that he and his people are equal intellectually to whites without even having to state it explicitly. An overwhelming majority of African Americans had no opportunity to become educated due to their suppression; thus, Banneker suggests that if all his people had the educational opportunity as he had, all could be on his level of literacy and intelligence. Furthermore, Banneker alludes to the Bible constantly, most notably while quoting the Bible to aid his appeal to empathy: and as Job proposed to his friends, put your souls in their souls stead . The fact that Banneker was able to reference the Bible in a way that supplemented his appeal to empathy emphasizes his biblical knowledge and accordingly cultural and religious equality to Jefferson, who additionally was a well learned christian. Banneker now argues his point through the persona of another Christian, which adds even more weight to his perspective compared one of an intellectual son ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the variables are negatively correlated, as the Simulation Design Scores increase the participants? Clinical Judgment Scores would decrease. If Clinical Judgment Scores do not react consistently in relation to Simulation Design Scores, they are either non linear or are not correlated. 2.???????How does regression work (statistically, what happens when you perform a regression)? In the Columbian society portrayed in the novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Marquez, there is a significant double standard regarding gender. They live in a world where women have to follow extreme societal and cultural expectations. Men are encouraged to be experienced in the bedroom for their weddingnight but if a woman is not a virgin, she is deemed unfit to marry. Women are taught when they are brought up that lovecan be learned (page 35) and that they must marry whoever impresses their familywhile men can choose whoever they want. Even though this is a very basic theme of segregation, this was the first experience Moody had to it, and it was the beginning to her charge for equality. Through work, Moody would slowly start to realize more things about segregation and how it impacts African Americans and her life. As Moody grew up in the South, in the middle of the Civil Rights Movement, she began to understand segregation on a larger context. Her work experiences tell us a lot about racial segregation and inequality. As work offered women new opportunities outside the house, it was different for African American women. They would work in trades least affected by mechanism, like domestic services, such as maids for white families. The FCC (The Federal Communications Commission) has become a large part in regulating the business of talk radio due to the fact that some people impose on some of the topics or language used during the broadcasts. • 28. Strategys Against Cancer Cancer is one of the main leading causes of deaths worldwide. The reason for this is due to the poor results of the conventional chemotherapy. The primary cause of this is owing to the lack of selectivity of these drugs. Low molecular weight drugs can enter all types of cells by random diffusion, hence they not only attack tumorcells but they also attack healthy cells with the same potency resulting in severe toxicity. Hence, scientists need to develop strategies to selectively target drugs to tumor cells, to prevent the toxic side effects. One of the most effective strategies to overcome this problem is to exploit the anatomical and pathophysiological abnormalities of tumor tissues such as the enhanced permeation and retention (EPR) effect for anticancer drug delivery. EPR effect is basically the gradual accumulation and retention of certain size molecules (such as nanoparticles, liposomes and macromolecular drugs) in tumor tissues. 2. EPR Effect When tumor cells proliferate and reach the size of 2mm3, the cells go into a state of hypoxia as the current vasculature fails to provide sufficient oxygen supply. As a result of this, cells start to die and secrete various growth factors that cause the formation of new blood vessels from the existing ones. This process is known as angiogenesis. The new blood vessels formed are irregular in shape and are defective. They have discontinuous epithelium with large fenestrations ranging from 200 2000 nm depending on the tumor type ... Healthcare workers in another study reported feelings of guilt and moral dilemma regarding patient deaths (Dwyer, Hansebo, Andershed, and Ternestedt 2009). Universal Basic Income (UBI) Alternatives The great paradox of our time is that productivity has never been higher and technology is developing faster than ever before, but real wages and labor force participation have declined. If we accept the notion that individuals have a moral, societal, and economic obligation to society to work, then whose responsibility is it in society to ensure that adequate work exists for individuals? As hard as it may be, the first thing for workers and politicians to do is to accept the reality of our time that no matter how hard one works, jobs have been lost much more to technology than to international trade, and are never coming back. He makes his readers wonder if they have been chosen the kind of life that will really offer them happiness. Are they merely living a career or some other narrowly routine or is a worthwhile life being lived. Thoreau wonders if the truly valuable elements of life are being taken advantage of if a person is not living simply. If a person is so caught up in working or never having enough in life, one wonders, and satisfaction are difficult to obtain. As he states in the beginning Walden, most men, even in this comparatively free country, though mere ignorance and mistake, are so occupied with the factitious cares and superfluously coarse labors of life that is finer fruits cannot be plucked by them (Thoreau 6). This means that people care more about the finer things in life and easier work instead of nature s gifts and hard work.
