Dreams
The average amount a human will sleep in their lifetime is 229,961 hours. Part of those 229,961
hours sleeping is spent dreaming. What are dreams? This question has fascinated the human race
throughout history. From the Ancient Greeks and Romans, to Sigmund Freud in the late 1800 s,
till now, people have queried what the mystical stories that play out in the sleeping mind are and
why we have them. The Sumerians in Mesopotamia left evidence of dreams dating back to 3100
BC. According to these stories, gods and kings, like the 7th century BC scholar king Assurbanipal,
paid close attention to dreams. In his archive of clay tablets, some accounts of the story of the
legendary king Gilgamesh were found (Seligman). The Mesopotamians... Show more content on

During this stage, many people experience sudden muscle contractions preceded by a sensation
of falling. In stage 2, eye movement stops and brain waves become slower with only an
occasional burst of rapid brain waves. When a person enters stage 3, extremely slow brain
waves called delta waves are interspersed with smaller, faster waves. In stage 4, the brain
produces delta waves almost exclusively. Stages 3 and 4 are referred to as deep sleep or delta
sleep, and it is very difficult to wake someone from them. In deep sleep, there is no eye
movement or muscle activity. This is when some children experience bedwetting, sleepwalking
or night terrors. Usually, REM sleep occurs 70 90 minutes after someone has fall asleep. The
first period of REM typically lasts 10 minutes. Each REM stage gets longer, and the final one may
last up to an hour. A sleeping individual s heart rate and breathing quickens. People experience
more intense dreams during REM sleep, since the brain is more active. Dreams are constantly
occurring throughout the sleep cycle so do not believe anyone who says they do not dream. Sleep
and dreaming causes improved brain activity enabling people to function more productively.

Green Consumerism

This literary submission will take on a systematic, convergent approach in focusing on five
separate articles regarding green consumerism. The five peer reviewed articles which have been
selected for this paper have been placed in the appendix of this submission in the order in which
they appear in the bibliography.
A key point which is continuously brought up within each article is that environmental
consumerism is becoming more and more prevalent in today s society (Mazar and Zhong, 2009).
Although there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article also identifies the green consumer as often very skeptical of green advertising in general,
which results in their own adoptive means of conducting alternative research so that they are well
informed prior to making a purchase (Shrum et. Al, 1995). As well, Auger s article provided
supporting evidence to this point by restating that active information seekers were often more apt to
adopt socially ethical products (Auger et al, 2003).
Several types of research methods were used to reach these conclusions, including the use of
primary data collected through ethical disposition surveys and choice experiment surveys (Auger
et al, 2003). An extensive amount of secondary research was also pulled together, with some data
sets being analyzed to determine the conclusive results (Shrum et. Al, 1995). However, it is noted
within each paper that there are gaps which exist within each article s research design. For
example, some surveys were only targeted at a certain demographics, leading to a relatively
homogeneous study groups (Haytko and Matulich, 2007), while other data sets did not reflect the
general population, as some secondary data either over represented or underrepresented certain
populations, resulting in an incomprehensive analysis of data (Shrum et. Al, 1995).
As a result, gaps can be observed in both the research questions conducted within these articles, as
well as the

Jodi Arias Should Receive the Death Penalty
Jodi Arias Should Receive the Death Penalty Jodi Arias should receive the death penalty for
violently murdering Travis Alexander. Arias planned on murdering Alexander when she traveled to
Arizona. Arias brutally murdered a man who did not want to be in a relationship with her and then
Arias lied about it. Alexander s family and friends would like to see her receive the death penalty.
Arias also said she would like the death penalty in an interview. Arias has been manipulative and
deceiving through the trial and she made statements that were defamatory to Alexander s character.

the intentions of murdering Alexander. Arias stole her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arias does not need to represent a domestic abuse organization because she is a cold blooded
killer. Arias has been deceiving and manipulating through the whole process. She planned on
murdering Alexander and went through many precautions to protect herself. She also met up
with another man in Utah so she would have an alibi. After Alexander s body was discovered,
she called the investigator to ask questions about his death. She denied murdering him at first.
She then changed her story and said it was self defense. She has only said terrible, defamatory
things about him. She has a history of lying and deceiving people. Alexander s family would like
Arias to receive the death penalty. The day that Arias was found guilty, David Hall, Alexander s
friend, made a statement to reporters as he was leaving court saying that he wanted Arias to
receive the death penalty. Hall said, Five long years... of lying, manipulating. Now the citizens
of Arizona have spoken. If what she did to Travis does not justify the death penalty in America
today, then what do we have it for? (Gaynor A4). The jury should take in consideration what his
family and friends want since he was taken so quickly and violently from their lives. In May
2013, the jury could not come to a decision on whether or not Arias should get a death sentence.
That jury could not come up with a unanimous decision so a new jury will be selected. If the new

The Father s Rights in Child Custody Issues Essay
The Father s Rights in Child Custody Issues
In the United States today more than one half of all marriages end in divorce. The purpose of this
paper is to examine the reason why women have typically received custody of the children far more
often than the fathers. In order to better understand child custody one must first examine how
fathers have often times been left out of the picture, and conversely why mothers have had such
hard times raising children on their own. This paper will first examine the perspective of a father
who has lost custody of his children.
A Fathers Perspective According to many the custody of a child should be determined with the
best interest of the child in mind. However, it is not easy for a ... Show more content on

A Mothers Perspective
Reynolds (2004) stated that five out of every six custodial parents are mothers, and he goes on to
say that one out of three of those custodial parents receives a full payment averaging about five
thousand dollars. Often times a judge makes the decision to grant custody to the mother based on
the idea that a mother has a closer relationship with the child because of giving birth. However, it
is important to remember as Smith (2003) reminds us that fathers love their children just as much
as mothers, and to call them non custodial parents is offensive. Often times when parents get
divorced the mother has been a stay at home mom and the father has been the primary bread
winner so, when a mom is awarded custody as you can imagine it becomes very difficult for her to
balance the children and the one (or more) jobs that she has to work in order to support the family.
Conclusion The purpose of this paper was to give some insight into the vicious battles that take
place over child custody. It is important to mention that raising children is difficult even with two
parents, now when there is only one parent the difficultly increases by leaps and bounds. The idea
of joint custody seems to sound like a good solution however, Smith (2003) stated

The Bedouins In Arabia
The Bedouins, a pastoral society based people, dominated pre Islamic Arabia, and had a culture
centralized around clan life. One of the defining characteristics of this time in Arabia was the
respect and importance of women, due to the frequent absence of men. With the beginning of Islam
in 622 CE, women continued to receive that respect, along with more legal rights, such as the right
to divorce. However patriarchy still played a part throughout both time periods.
In 550 B.C.E, before Islam was developed in the Arabian Peninsula, it was under the Bedouins rule
which gave women who lived there little to no rights regarding marriage and inheritance. Towns
like Mecca and Medina are extensions of these nomadic tribes. Under the customary tribal

I think that animal testing is a cruel and inhuman thing...
I think that animal testing is a cruel and inhuman thing to do especially if you are hurting the
animal on purpose. Even though animals don t have rights you should still not abuse them by
burning them, pulling their eyes out, or just beating them. Did you know that over hundred million
animals are abused in U.S. labs every year? Imagine if you were in the animals place how would
you feel, would you try to do something about it?
Animals are used to test on for things like medical studies, cosmetic testing, and behavioral studies.
Animal testing first started in early Greek in the 2nd and 4th centuries BCE.
Some famous researchers from the early ages who tested on animals are people like Abenzoar, an
arab physician and Moorish Spain who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And only about 36 percent that are in pain are given anesthesia to help relieve the the pain, so
that means that the other 64 percent of animals are are in pain. I think that rules for animal
testing should be strict so that not every year 100 million animals are in pain, suffering, or
slowly dying because of us humans. There are many different things we can use instead of testing
on animals and killing them like for example we can use human cells or we can use dead humans
but the person being researched on has to know and be okay with it just like a donor. Most of the
test that are tested on are for cosmetic testing, toxicology testing, drug testing, biomedical research,
and also for educational reasons. And most the animals that get tested on usually the drugs work on
them but end up not working on humans, another reason why animal testing is bad. Rabbits get
tested on for contact lenses and after researchers have put the lenses in the rabbits the take lenses
out and take the rabbit s eye out.
Humans have rights and animals are pretty similar to humans so why shouldn t animals have
rights. Animal testing laws should be more strict so not a lot of animals end up dying. Animals
are an important part of this world, and if we don t take good care of them and keep on killing
them, then what are researchers going to do. Just like if you take out an animal out of a food chain
then the whole entire food chain gets affected, if we take out animals

Charles Darwin s Radical New Book On The Origin Of Species
The coalescence of the publication of Charles Darwin s radical new book On The Origin of
Species by Means of Natural Selection (1859) and the American Civil War (1861 1865) brought
about a dramatic end to transcendentalism and the American Romanticism period that dominated
the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. American intellectuals began to apply the knowledge gained
from Origin of Species to more fields than just biology. This dynamic understanding (evolution) of
life ushered in a period of Naturalism. Naturalist literature was based on the following four basic
assumptions : The origin of man is brute matter caught in a struggle for survival; Individual

Norris offers a very pessimistic view of humans and society and that that humans are naturally evil
to the reader early on. The fact that Norris described his main character in such a painfully honest
tone at the onset of his story not only removes the veil of goodness, but reveals a man struggling to
survive, instead of thriving, in his environment.
A running theme in this story, congruent with the first naturalistic assumption of the struggle for
survival, is the desire for wealth and the eventual greed spawned from this consuming desire. Mac
s girlfriend at the time, and later his wife, Trina, won $5000 in a lottery, but was very frugal with
her winnings. Mac, who was never accustomed to wealth or high society, found this very
frustrating and after the loss of his business, every hour the question of money came up (Norris,
127). He was unrelenting in his search for money. To McTeague
, wealth equaled power and
success. Norris exemplifies the dangers of greed and how it can get the best of you when
McTeague s anger and frustration at Trina with his financial situation boils over, Miser, nasty
little old miser. You re worse than old Zerkow, always nagging about money, money, and you got
five thousand dollars. You got more, an you live in that stinking hole of a room, and you won t
drink any decent beer (Norris, 135).

Introduction.
Musical notes are a language that has evolved over thousands of years and the notation that we
know today, there are more than 300 years. Music notation is a representation of sound by
symbols of a simple notation for pitch, length and timing to more advanced features of expression,
timbre, and even special effects. This book will show you the basics of reading music, some more
advanced methods and how you can learn more about the subject.
This guide focuses on musical notations and symbols found on sheet music; note counts,
accidentals, time signatures, key signatures, breaks, codas, ornaments, and articulations, to mention
a few. This guide will also include pictures and simplified definitions to make it easier for you to
understand.
Modern musical notation was derived from European Classical music and is still used by musicians
around the world.
In the middle of the 19th century, it was said that the monasteries in Europe began developing
notations for Gregorian chant using neumes* or the earliest musical notation. The roots of modern
musical notation symbols are originally from the Roman Catholic Church.
Neumes These were the earliest form of musical notation, used during the middle ages by
Christians, which are still being used for Gregorian chants and plainsongs (or plainchants)
nowadays.

This romantic connotation coincides with the idea that Stevens desires intimacy; he just can t

Stevens doesn t reject Mrs. Kenton out of want; he rejects her out of necessity to keep in line with

Abraham Lincoln Assassination Essay
Abraham Lincoln is widely renounced as one of the greatest presidents of all time. He was a
dutiful commander in chief during a time of American civil war and accomplished more than
anyone expected. The most memorable being the Emancipation Proclamation. Lincoln issued this
document that freed black enslaved persons and allowed them to fight for the union. During his
presidency, he also signed into law included the Homestead Act, the Morrill Act, the National
Banking Act, and a bill that chartered the first transcontinental railroad. The ripples of his impact

methods of interventions, any cultural issues, and any use of contemporary technology that will be

how a person s thoughts and beliefs can intensify an anxiety/phobia. If a person truly believes that
he/she will not do well in a certain situation, those thoughts and feelings can turn that into a reality.

CAUSES OF POLLUTANTS IN VEHICLE
5.Motor vehicle use is now generally recognised as the source of more air pollution than any other
single activity in cities around the world. The internal combustion engine of a vehicle produces
power by burning fuel and changing the chemical energy of fuel into heat energy. The heat energy
is then converted into mechanical power. Cars and trucks do not burn all of the fuel that goes into
the combustion chamber. In fact, most vehicles only burn about 85% of the fuel and as the vehicle
gets older less and less fuel is burned. It is this unburned fuel that produces some harmful products
which are discharged from the engine and become air pollutants.[iv] Therefore, an engine s fuel
system, and its emission controls are closely interrelated. That is why attention is given to the
requirements of emission control in the design and operation of all parts of the fuel system in a
vehicle.
EFFECTS OF POLLUTANTS IN VEHICLES
6.Adverse effects to human health include; a. Reduction in the amount of oxygen that can be

The Female Sex Hormone Estrogen
Throughout history, women have had different roles, most were enforced. Women have long since
been viewed as the opposite of men, a view carried by both men and women. Among many others,
the most prevalent responsibility of women is to carry her child during fetal development, this
does not make it her duty to rear the child once it is born. However, it is imposed upon her by
internal and predominantly external maleinfluences in life and with this the assumptions on how
women are different from men such as caring, protective, emotional, loving, etc. These assumptions
could perhaps be described as a byproduct of the female sex hormone estrogen (Logan). Estrogen

This was the role expected by women that at the same time were treated as property, married
women were usually referred to as, Mrs. , followed by her husband s name. They were traded,
sold, and often due to their gender aborted, they were viewed as inferior burdens whose only
duties were to work, make strong preferably male babies and suitable mates and be happy and
never complain. It was not uncommon for an older bachelor of the late 1800 s to buy a man s
daughter for marriage, and at the time the prime marriage and child bearing years for a woman
were from the start of their menstrual cycle to her late thirties. Seeing how most young men
could not afford a dowry, most marriages of the time were between older men and significantly
younger women. This also being the practice so that a man who is fertile until his closing years
could have many heirs due to more years for birthing until a woman s menopause and also so the
woman could take care of the husband in his late years and be young enough to work and take
care of her children. Also, it was not uncommon to sell a woman in a business deal to be a
mistress, maid, adoptive daughter, laborer, anything viewed as beneficial to the deal. This is
entirely different from today, the idea of a woman, though a diamond in the rough is way more
progressive than it was in the late 1800 s, women are no longer treated like property, have greater

The major issues these escapes present are the introduction of invasive, or feral salmon species,

In fact, in 2008, approximately 90 per cent of the fish oil available worldwide, and 71 per cent of
the fish meal, was consumed in aquaculture practices (Tacon Metian in preparation, as quoted in
Bostock et al., 2010: 2905). This is extremely unsustainable, it is impossible to attain enough
feed to continue to sustain these practices at the pace we are, without overfishing the oceans.
Recall aquaculture was supposed to be a more sustainable alternative to the unsustainable fishing
practices we employed in the past, such as deep ocean bottom trawling. However, to acquire
enough feed, bottom trawling will be required, which in turn renders many fish species instinct
and destroys their habitats (Van Denderen et al., 2013: 1). Unless of course, new methods of
finding feed are discovered, which is currently in development. In fact, Bostock et al, (2010)
contend that up to 25 per cent of fish meal is now obtained from fish processing waste, and
ingredient substitution is also increasing the efficiency of fish meal and oil utilization , which is a
step in the right direction (p. 2905). Furthermore, the fish intake to fish output, FIFO (transference
of energy between trophic levels) is understood as being about 10:1 from one level to the next,

Birth Control Of The Pill
When choosing a type of hamburger, one is given a menu with different types of flavors to choose
from. Just like the hamburger menu, there are many types of contraceptives a woman is able to

This birth control pill is a medication that women take daily to prevent pregnancy. Birth control
pills undoubtedly arise confusion as to how they work. Even with all the birth control confusion, the
pills are the safest birth control compared to the Depo Provera shot, IUD, and birth control implant.
Birth control pills were developed in the 1950s, and were first approved by the FDA in 1960 (

Hormones are chemicals that are made in our bodies. The hormones in the pill work by keeping
eggs from leaving the ovaries. Recently birth control pills have changed and include less
hormones and other positive side effects. Some of these effects include, lighter periods, which
reduce risk of anemia, less severe cramps during menstrual cycles and lessening of acne

The Republican Party Platform Of 1860
As the Republican Party Platform of 1860 came into existence, there were
situations that occurred in the United States that were inevitable. The civil war was
inevitable, just as the many other occurrences that happened and were yet to happen.
Without the Republicans arising in that time and creating a platform to abide by, life in
the United States would have erupted. The platform was created to secure the union and
to stop succession by the south and to abolish slavery. Another issue the Republicans
brought forward to society to view was that majority of what the Constitution stated, was
being neglected or against in the times before 1860. They further developed a principle
that will forever, permanently, cease into existence, which will demand its peace and
achievement in the United States.
The act of disunion predominantly went unnoticed to the Republican Party. By
the act of sectional divisions in the Constitutional Union Party, it presented in
significance of denying a free government. Amongst the other parties, Democratic
members advocated threats of disunion. However, the Republicans did not evidently join
in these threats of disunion and feel that they should be applauded for this because the
threats were vital to the central government that was yet to exist. Through this
occurrence, the Republicans did not want to separate because they believed that the
denial of a free government was a part of treason. They wanted the United

The Great Divide
There were several prevailing thoughts towards connections present during the time in England on
the cusp of High Modernism. The importance of connections with others was one that was
specifically addressed in much of the literature. E.M. Forster even highlighted the idea in his novel
Howard s End with the epigraph only connect . The idea supports the notion that, in order for a
society to survive and thrive, some degree of connection must be adequately maintained. Yet,
through the stratification of social classes in England at the time, there was little social connection
being preserved. To address the issue, authors like Virginia Woolfand Forster included connection
as a prominent theme in their works. Both Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway and Forster s Howard s End
address connection through their characters as well as geographical locations. In each of these
stories, the underlying theme of connecting highlights the characters struggles to only connect .
It would seem as if Forster is urging connection by illustrating that, without some degree of
connecting, social classes would remain stratified and society would fall into utter ruin. Through
the intermingling of characters in Howard s End , Forster suggests that connecting in such a way
is progress. He further advocates and suggests that progress should be presented as a positive thing,
and, in order for a society to flourish, connections between the

The Big Data Is Preserve Privacy Information Of The...
The most important and significant challenge in the big data is to preserve privacy information
of the customers, employees, and the organizations. It is very sensitive and includes conceptual,
technical as well as legal significance. Any collected information about a person, when
combined with other sets of data, can lead to the finding of persons secret and private
information. As big data expands the sources of data it can use, the trustworthiness of each data
source needs to be verified, and techniques should be explored to identify maliciously inserted
data (Jaseena K.U. Julie M. David). Big data gives us a significant opportunity in the field of
national security, a breakthrough of diseases, medical researchers, marketing and business
analysis, urban planning, and so on. But these exceptional advantages of big data are also
restricted by the privacy concerns and the data protection. On the other side, privacy is a huge
concern. Critical pieces of information of users are collected and used in furtherance to add value
for any businesses. This is done by exploiting the insight in their personal information, and in most
of the cases, users are totally unaware of it. The user might not want to share his/ her information.
But, it is already being known to the data owner without the consent or even knowledge of it to the
user. Unauthorized release of information, unauthorized modification of information and denial of
resources are the three categories of security

consequences of homelessnesscombined with the effect it has on society. There are various reasons
that homelessness exists in the United States, the most common reason is due to a lack of
affordable housing. Homelessness is more predominant in urban areas than in rural regions of the

These sudden and unfortunate events displaced millions of people and led to an even larger
increase in the homeless population. The Great Depression in 1929 was another catastrophic event
in American history that led to major economic hardships for millions of citizens that further
propelled homelessness. Although these historical events are from the past the residual effects are
impacting the U.S. society and culture today. Slavery was a part of the United States since the
beginning of the American Revolution, which placed a racial division between the whites and
blacks. Although slavery was abolished during the presidency of Abraham Lincoln, the effects of
racism lingered continuously and are sadly still affecting many African Americans today in certain
ways. After World War II, America improved greatly; in terms of economic wealth. This was a time
of financial prosperity and innovative technological advancements. Caucasians in America
benefitted greatly from the country s newfound wealth; however African Americans were not so
lucky. They found themselves segregated from the whites and prohibited from certain rights. Some
of these rights involved housing and employment opportunities. While the Caucasians in the U.S.
had access to their preferred employment and housing, African Americans and other minorities
were not granted these same rights.

internet and radio backhaul and maintaining the Quality of Service (QOS) in the process [1].
Figure 1 LTE deployment in small cells Why small cells? Small cells are beneficial in terms of
the following aspects: 1)Coverage: Adding capacity to high traffic areas and extend coverage to
hard to reach locations and indoor sites. 2)Capacity: Enhancing localized coverage 3)Data
offloading: Providing robust 4G LTE coverage to customers in challenging coverage areas Small
cells mainly consist of the femtocells, picocells, and microcells. The network can also be known
by distributed radio technology which consists of centralized baseband units and remote radio
heads. Beamformingtechnology (focusing a radio signal on a very specific area) can be
utilized to further enhance or focus small cell coverage . The common factor binding all of
these technologies is that all are centrally managed. [13] The range of small is from 10 meters
within urban and in building locations to 2 km for a rural location. Picocells and microcells can
also have a range of a few hundred meters to a few kilometres, but femto cells do not have the self

In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, while Hamlet is the protagonist, the main antagonist

the councillor of the king. Yet, at the same time, he is not completely malicious as he is a caring
father for his son and daughter, Laertes and Ophelia. In Act 3, scene 4, Poloniusis murdered by
Hamlet, who mistakens him for Claudius. This death of Polonius is the most controversial death in
the play in that some argue he deserved to die for his wrongdoings to Hamlet, and some claim the

Factors That Affect Our Soil Quality And Increase Som Is...
From a practical point of view, anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) has been commonly used as a soil
conditioner to reduce erosion by clay flocculation and binding particles and stabilizing the outer
aggregate surfaces. Moreover, PAM is highly resistant to microbial degradation, with a
decomposition rate of в€
ј10% yr 1, which has led to its efficient use as a soilconditioner for long
periods. Wu et al. (2012) revealed that PAM showed a minor effect on 14C allocation in plant
parts and soil in a short term 14C labeling study. Except the observations of PAM
biotransformation, little information is available on the PAM efficiency on the microbial
activity in soils. In contrast, the agronomic benefits of biochar (BC) application to improve soil
quality and increase SOM is growing. Applying BC improves the physicochemical properties of
soil and maintains C and N sources, owing to a pronounced increase in plant growth and yield.
Moreover, wood biochar decreased the soil bulk density and enlarged diameter of aggregates,
thereby reducing soil loss. However, little is known about the effect of BC on soil microbial
populations and activities. BC or PAM showed minor effect on the decomposition of SOM based
on CO2 evolution because of the stability of these conditioners. A high portion of 14C maize
residues were stabilized in the soil after adding BC and PAM as the binders by the occlusion of
labile residue C into aggregates. Understanding the short term dynamics of C caused by PAM or

Without knowing this, conflict and destruction will continue to occur in Syria, and for that matter the

What then is currently being done to stop such atrocities from occurring? Specifically in the case
of the Temple of Baalshamin, many if not all of the preventative and preservation systems set in
place to save remnants of human history only look at solving the problem at a surface level. For
example, the Million Image Database Project and the New Palmyra Project both focus on
preserving the Temple of Baalshamin through the collection of pictures and using digital computer
renderings, in hopes that one day this site and potentially other sites could be rebuilt or forever
preserved through the internet. While important as a step towards reducing loss, neither of these
specific preservation examples seek to prevent such destruction from occurring in the first place. Be
that as it may, even if there were a hundred systems in place that specifically attempt to prevent such
instances of destruction from happening, it is highly likely they would focus only on alleviating
issues that are at the surface layer of the underlying issues in a society, such as relieving hunger,
poverty, and other forms of human distress. In order to truly prevent violent, heinous, and hateful
acts of destruction from happening, one must look at preventing the issue by resolving

It is usually represented by a combination of loops that leave the N pole and enter the S pole.
These loops are called the magnetic flux. When a charge moves in an electric field, it will
experience an electrostatic force given by an equation F=qE. Also, when a charge enters a
magnetic field B, a magnetic force is exerted. F=qv*B. If the charge moves in a wire, with length L,
the force can be represented as F=ILBsin(theta). In the experiment, we were able to study the nature

Quality Time Redefined Analysis
In today s society with cell phones, television, internet, and social media, it is very difficult to stay
connected. Our ability to stay balanced in a society with technology exponentially improving will
benefit us when connecting to more things that are real and in the moment. The idea is not to
become completely disconnected with the tech space, but rather to connect and be involved with
life outside of technologyas well. The point is to become more involved with family and quality
time. Yes, we can still be connected with technology; however, if we take time to disconnect we
can understand what is really going on in our society. Technology is universal no matter where we
go, one use it every day if its traffic lights, bikes, phones, cars,... Show more content on

One just does whatever technology wants them to. For instance you have an iPhone 5 and it
perfectly fine, but just because the iPhone 6 comes out you have to get it. People are oblivious to
the negative effects of technology. Technology does has its benefits but look at the long term
effects: the human race is growing thoughtless with each generation because of the internet and not
have real connections with people. Andrews states, Most people have no idea how much
information is collected surreptitiously about them from social networks and other websites
(Andrews 713). With most sites that one has to make an account in, it usually asks for both first and
last name, email including a conformation within the email, sometimes credit card number, and
even sometimes your address. That right there is enough information to steal someone s identity.
People aren t realizing actually how much information the internet knows about them. The more
advanced we get in technology the lazier people become. More and more children would rather
stay inside and play video games than go outside to play. Our communication is getting to the point
where people barley have face to face conversations without being distracted by an electronic
device. According to Williams, Even before iPads, there was evidence that Web centric home life
might not, in fact, be eating away at family unity (Williams

Personal Narrative-Sacrifice In America
The rays of cold sun escaping through the translucent clouds below resembled the clear,
peacefulness below me, clearing the freshly fallen heaps of snow. After weeks of both kindness and
crimes, thankfully I have witnessed no murderous intentions. My attention, although it radiates
throughout the world, is focused upon a certain area in America, in which no name is exigent,
however is located in a populous sector of New York. Women with baskets often thrust breadcrumbs
by the handful to be, where upon they hit the ground only three count inches from her feet.
Throughout the cold, every home had smoke rising from the chimney in grey heaps toward the blue

An EKG would be the first test completed on Mrs. Lee; evaluating her cardiac rhythm and rate.
The symptoms described by Mrs. Lee suggests atrial fibrillation. To determine atrial fibrillation

Prejudice in Maya AngelouВґs I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
Have you ever stood up for something that started a movement? Throughout history the break
between African Americans and whites has been evident at many times. African Americans were
treated heartlessly, and unfairly. They struggled everyday to find work in a prejudice world that
forced them into submission. Through her inspirational and powerful words in the poem, I Know
Why the Caged Bird Sings , the much loved poet Maya Angelou uses poetic devices like rhyme,
alliteration, metaphors and imagery, to encourage African Americans to find their voice and earn
the respect that they deserved. Imagine reaching for the sky, and actually being able to touch it. In
the first stanza in the poem, the author compares a free bird to the white population during times
of discrimination. In the first two lines, the author says, The free bird leaps / on the back of the
wind... (lines 1 2). The author is talking about how whites thought they were better than other
races. In line four it says, ...till the current ends... describes how no opportunities were left for the
blacks (line 3). The author gets across how the free bird, which is a metaphor for the white race, has
no problems. In the seventh line she talks about how the free bird claims the sky. It talks about the
freedom of flying, and of being able to make decisions for yourself. It also shows how the white
race has the boldness to unfairly own and govern society. In the second stanza, the author discusses
the actions of the

Compare And Contrast Hamilton Vs Jefferson
Hamilton vs. Jefferson
During a cabinet meeting concerning the idea of the first bank of the United States, federalist
Alexander Hamilton and anti federalist Thomas Jefferson debated the real issues of introducing the
U.S. bank. Hamilton believed the bank would improve the nation s credit and pay off the nation s
debts, while Jefferson believed that it was a way for the North to profit. This situation was
important because during that time federalist and anti federalist had issues agreeing with some
concepts of the Constitution, and the northern states were in more debt than the southern states.
This gave Jefferson reason to believe that concept of the first bank of the United States ... Show

He also feared the U.S bank would create a financial monopoly that would undermine state banks4.
The idea also interfered with Jefferson s idea of the United States being a primarily agriculture
society, but Hamilton supported his argument with facts about England s public debt policy and
how it helped them form an empire, and fight and pay for their wars5. Hamilton inferred from this,
that a financial structure with public debt included is what the nation needed to boost its

The Impact Of ESNO Cycles
Our text states that a lot of research must be done before ESNO cycles can potentially be linked to
anthropogenic global warming (Kitchen, 2016). Dr. McPhaden with the NOAA and NASA
scientists have been researching this issue and working on climate models. They have determined
that there is significant probability that extreme El Nino events will double in the 21st century.
Rather than extreme ESNO events occurring about every 20 years, they will occur every ten years.
These extreme climatic events have global impacts and could have significant socio economic
impacts including property damage, casualties and ecosystem damage (Cai et al, 2014), as well as
result in vast population migrations which have huge impacts on public health... Show more content

The modeling indicates that the increases in GHG cause this pump or the Brewer Dobson
circulation, to accelerate resulting in tropical and mid southern latitudes showing no signs of ozone
recovery into the next century. They also determined that there may be an over accumulation in the
mid latitudes which may drive O3 into the troposphere (Climate Change and Atmospheric
Circulation Will Make for Uneven Ozone Recovery, 2009). In addition to the health effects due to
UV B radiation, there is evidence that this change in atmospheric circulation forced by GHG
concentrations has an impact on the ITCZ and monsoon seasons. Some areas see a reduction in
precipitation, adversely efecting agriculture while other regions see an increase in precipitation
causing flooding, displacement etc (Mohtadi, Prange and Steinke, 2016).
An article in Nature discusses climate modeling as it relates to El Nino events. According to Cai et
al in Increasing frequency of extreme El NiГ±o events due to greenhouse warming, global warming
from anthropogenic sources may have a compounding effect on the frequency and intensity of
ENSO. The article states this could have significant socio economic impacts. (Cai et al, 2013). Dr.

  • 2. Dreams The average amount a human will sleep in their lifetime is 229,961 hours. Part of those 229,961 hours sleeping is spent dreaming. What are dreams? This question has fascinated the human race throughout history. From the Ancient Greeks and Romans, to Sigmund Freud in the late 1800 s, till now, people have queried what the mystical stories that play out in the sleeping mind are and why we have them. The Sumerians in Mesopotamia left evidence of dreams dating back to 3100 BC. According to these stories, gods and kings, like the 7th century BC scholar king Assurbanipal, paid close attention to dreams. In his archive of clay tablets, some accounts of the story of the legendary king Gilgamesh were found (Seligman). The Mesopotamians... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this stage, many people experience sudden muscle contractions preceded by a sensation of falling. In stage 2, eye movement stops and brain waves become slower with only an occasional burst of rapid brain waves. When a person enters stage 3, extremely slow brain waves called delta waves are interspersed with smaller, faster waves. In stage 4, the brain produces delta waves almost exclusively. Stages 3 and 4 are referred to as deep sleep or delta sleep, and it is very difficult to wake someone from them. In deep sleep, there is no eye movement or muscle activity. This is when some children experience bedwetting, sleepwalking or night terrors. Usually, REM sleep occurs 70 90 minutes after someone has fall asleep. The first period of REM typically lasts 10 minutes. Each REM stage gets longer, and the final one may last up to an hour. A sleeping individual s heart rate and breathing quickens. People experience more intense dreams during REM sleep, since the brain is more active. Dreams are constantly occurring throughout the sleep cycle so do not believe anyone who says they do not dream. Sleep and dreaming causes improved brain activity enabling people to function more productively. Matthew Wilson, a neuroscientist at the Picower Institute at M.I.T., during the early 1990s, was recording the neuron activity in the brains of rats as they navigated through a difficult maze. Green Consumerism Literary Submission University of Waterloo Faculty of Environment ENBUS 306: Research Design Literary Review and Submission on Green Consumerism Prepared By: Wendy Ngai Student ID: 20351676 3B Environment and Business October 02, 2012 This literary submission will take on a systematic, convergent approach in focusing on five separate articles regarding green consumerism. The five peer reviewed articles which have been selected for this paper have been placed in the appendix of this submission in the order in which they appear in the bibliography. A key point which is continuously brought up within each article is that environmental consumerism is becoming more and more prevalent in today s society (Mazar and Zhong, 2009). Although there ... The article also identifies the green consumer as often very skeptical of green advertising in general, which results in their own adoptive means of conducting alternative research so that they are well informed prior to making a purchase (Shrum et. Al, 1995). As well, Auger s article provided supporting evidence to this point by restating that active information seekers were often more apt to adopt socially ethical products (Auger et al, 2003). Several types of research methods were used to reach these conclusions, including the use of primary data collected through ethical disposition surveys and choice experiment surveys (Auger et al, 2003). An extensive amount of secondary research was also pulled together, with some data sets being analyzed to determine the conclusive results (Shrum et. Al, 1995). However, it is noted within each paper that there are gaps which exist within each article s research design. For example, some surveys were only targeted at a certain demographics, leading to a relatively homogeneous study groups (Haytko and Matulich, 2007), while other data sets did not reflect the general population, as some secondary data either over represented or underrepresented certain populations, resulting in an incomprehensive analysis of data (Shrum et. Al, 1995). As a result, gaps can be observed in both the research questions conducted within these articles, as well as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Arias planned on murdering Alexander when she traveled to Arizona. Arias brutally murdered a man who did not want to be in a relationship with her and then Arias lied about it. Alexander s family and friends would like to see her receive the death penalty. Arias also said she would like the death penalty in an interview. Arias does not need to represent a domestic abuse organization because she is a cold blooded killer. Arias has been deceiving and manipulating through the whole process. She planned on murdering Alexander and went through many precautions to protect herself. She also met up with another man in Utah so she would have an alibi. After Alexander s body was discovered, she called the investigator to ask questions about his death. She denied murdering him at first. She then changed her story and said it was self defense. She has only said terrible, defamatory things about him. She has a history of lying and deceiving people. Alexander s family would like Arias to receive the death penalty. The day that Arias was found guilty, David Hall, Alexander s friend, made a statement to reporters as he was leaving court saying that he wanted Arias to receive the death penalty. Hall said, Five long years... of lying, manipulating. Now the citizens of Arizona have spoken. If what she did to Travis does not justify the death penalty in America today, then what do we have it for? (Gaynor A4). The jury should take in consideration what his family and friends want since he was taken so quickly and violently from their lives. In May 2013, the jury could not come to a decision on whether or not Arias should get a death sentence. That jury could not come up with a unanimous decision so a new jury will be selected. • 5. The Father s Rights in Child Custody Issues Essay The Father s Rights in Child Custody Issues In the United States today more than one half of all marriages end in divorce. The purpose of this paper is to examine the reason why women have typically received custody of the children far more often than the fathers. In order to better understand child custody one must first examine how fathers have often times been left out of the picture, and conversely why mothers have had such hard times raising children on their own. This paper will first examine the perspective of a father who has lost custody of his children. A Fathers Perspective According to many the custody of a child should be determined with the best interest of the child in mind. However, it is not easy for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A Mothers Perspective Reynolds (2004) stated that five out of every six custodial parents are mothers, and he goes on to say that one out of three of those custodial parents receives a full payment averaging about five thousand dollars. Often times a judge makes the decision to grant custody to the mother based on the idea that a mother has a closer relationship with the child because of giving birth. However, it is important to remember as Smith (2003) reminds us that fathers love their children just as much as mothers, and to call them non custodial parents is offensive. Often times when parents get divorced the mother has been a stay at home mom and the father has been the primary bread winner so, when a mom is awarded custody as you can imagine it becomes very difficult for her to balance the children and the one (or more) jobs that she has to work in order to support the family. Conclusion The purpose of this paper was to give some insight into the vicious battles that take place over child custody. It is important to mention that raising children is difficult even with two parents, now when there is only one parent the difficultly increases by leaps and bounds. The idea of joint custody seems to sound like a good solution however, Smith (2003) stated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Bedouins In Arabia The Bedouins, a pastoral society based people, dominated pre Islamic Arabia, and had a culture centralized around clan life. One of the defining characteristics of this time in Arabia was the respect and importance of women, due to the frequent absence of men. With the beginning of Islam in 622 CE, women continued to receive that respect, along with more legal rights, such as the right to divorce. However patriarchy still played a part throughout both time periods. In 550 B.C.E, before Islam was developed in the Arabian Peninsula, it was under the Bedouins rule which gave women who lived there little to no rights regarding marriage and inheritance. Even though animals don t have rights you should still not abuse them by burning them, pulling their eyes out, or just beating them. Did you know that over hundred million animals are abused in U.S. labs every year? Imagine if you were in the animals place how would you feel, would you try to do something about it? Animals are used to test on for things like medical studies, cosmetic testing, and behavioral studies. Animal testing first started in early Greek in the 2nd and 4th centuries BCE. Some famous researchers from the early ages who tested on animals are people like Abenzoar, an arab physician and Moorish Spain who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And only about 36 percent that are in pain are given anesthesia to help relieve the the pain, so that means that the other 64 percent of animals are are in pain. I think that rules for animal testing should be strict so that not every year 100 million animals are in pain, suffering, or slowly dying because of us humans. There are many different things we can use instead of testing on animals and killing them like for example we can use human cells or we can use dead humans but the person being researched on has to know and be okay with it just like a donor. Most of the test that are tested on are for cosmetic testing, toxicology testing, drug testing, biomedical research, and also for educational reasons. And most the animals that get tested on usually the drugs work on them but end up not working on humans, another reason why animal testing is bad. Rabbits get tested on for contact lenses and after researchers have put the lenses in the rabbits the take lenses out and take the rabbit s eye out. Humans have rights and animals are pretty similar to humans so why shouldn t animals have rights. Animal testing laws should be more strict so not a lot of animals end up dying. Animals are an important part of this world, and if we don t take good care of them and keep on killing them, then what are researchers going to do. Just like if you take out an animal out of a food chain then the whole entire food chain gets affected, if we take out animals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Charles Darwin s Radical New Book On The Origin Of Species The coalescence of the publication of Charles Darwin s radical new book On The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection (1859) and the American Civil War (1861 1865) brought about a dramatic end to transcendentalism and the American Romanticism period that dominated the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. American intellectuals began to apply the knowledge gained from Origin of Species to more fields than just biology. This dynamic understanding (evolution) of life ushered in a period of Naturalism. Naturalist literature was based on the following four basic assumptions : The origin of man is brute matter caught in a struggle for survival; Individual strengths and weaknesses are the results of heredity and chance; Everything is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Norris offers a very pessimistic view of humans and society and that that humans are naturally evil to the reader early on. The fact that Norris described his main character in such a painfully honest tone at the onset of his story not only removes the veil of goodness, but reveals a man struggling to survive, instead of thriving, in his environment. A running theme in this story, congruent with the first naturalistic assumption of the struggle for survival, is the desire for wealth and the eventual greed spawned from this consuming desire. Mac s girlfriend at the time, and later his wife, Trina, won $5000 in a lottery, but was very frugal with her winnings. Mac, who was never accustomed to wealth or high society, found this very frustrating and after the loss of his business, every hour the question of money came up (Norris, 127). He was unrelenting in his search for money. To McTeague , wealth equaled power and success. Norris exemplifies the dangers of greed and how it can get the best of you when McTeague s anger and frustration at Trina with his financial situation boils over, Miser, nasty little old miser. You re worse than old Zerkow, always nagging about money, money, and you got five thousand dollars. The internal combustion engine of a vehicle produces power by burning fuel and changing the chemical energy of fuel into heat energy. The heat energy is then converted into mechanical power. Cars and trucks do not burn all of the fuel that goes into the combustion chamber. In fact, most vehicles only burn about 85% of the fuel and as the vehicle gets older less and less fuel is burned. It is this unburned fuel that produces some harmful products which are discharged from the engine and become air pollutants.[iv] Therefore, an engine s fuel system, and its emission controls are closely interrelated. That is why attention is given to the requirements of emission control in the design and operation of all parts of the fuel system in a vehicle. EFFECTS OF POLLUTANTS IN VEHICLES 6.Adverse effects to human health include; a. Jolley ENG 4425 Ross 11 November, 2015 The Great Divide There were several prevailing thoughts towards connections present during the time in England on the cusp of High Modernism. The importance of connections with others was one that was specifically addressed in much of the literature. E.M. Forster even highlighted the idea in his novel Howard s End with the epigraph only connect . The idea supports the notion that, in order for a society to survive and thrive, some degree of connection must be adequately maintained. Yet, through the stratification of social classes in England at the time, there was little social connection being preserved. To address the issue, authors like Virginia Woolfand Forster included connection as a prominent theme in their works. Both Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway and Forster s Howard s End address connection through their characters as well as geographical locations. In each of these stories, the underlying theme of connecting highlights the characters struggles to only connect . It would seem as if Forster is urging connection by illustrating that, without some degree of connecting, social classes would remain stratified and society would fall into utter ruin. Through the intermingling of characters in Howard s End , Forster suggests that connecting in such a way is progress. He further advocates and suggests that progress should be presented as a positive thing, and, in order for a society to flourish, connections between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thus, Polonius keeps tries to manipulate Hamlet s life and interferes with his privacy in order to see his madness. This is a clear wrongdoing of Polonius, as his actions would be considered immoral, and, therefore, Polonius spying on Hamlet shows more evidence why Hamlet would justify Polonius death. However, although Polonius actions seem extreme and might have caused Hamlet deteriorate more, they, in fact, were simply to help the people he sincerely cared for: Ophelia and ... They actually are very fun to watch too but you know they can get mad too. Basically i m trying to say how impressive they are from giant lizard and marine snakes to small iguanas. Well i m just doing this on iguanas because i love how they change colors. They can avoid being seen so good. They are pretty smart because of how they don t move until they are ready to attack. The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen was created in 1789 after Louis XIV finally allowed the three estates to meet alongside one another, creating the National Assembly . It is important to note the era in which it was created because it was created in a time where the feudal system had been the most powerful form of government for hundreds of years. The ancient regime did not allow anyone to make much decision making, unless they were the king. Everybody was below the king and there was no national citizenship. This is important to know because of the second estate, who were more educated than the third, recognized the King s unhealthy spending habits and demanded for a reform.. • 36. Factors That Affect Our Soil Quality And Increase Som Is... From a practical point of view, anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) has been commonly used as a soil conditioner to reduce erosion by clay flocculation and binding particles and stabilizing the outer aggregate surfaces. Moreover, PAM is highly resistant to microbial degradation, with a decomposition rate of в€ ј10% yr 1, which has led to its efficient use as a soilconditioner for long periods. Wu et al. (2012) revealed that PAM showed a minor effect on 14C allocation in plant parts and soil in a short term 14C labeling study. Except the observations of PAM biotransformation, little information is available on the PAM efficiency on the microbial activity in soils. In contrast, the agronomic benefits of biochar (BC) application to improve soil quality and increase SOM is growing. Applying BC improves the physicochemical properties of soil and maintains C and N sources, owing to a pronounced increase in plant growth and yield. Moreover, wood biochar decreased the soil bulk density and enlarged diameter of aggregates, thereby reducing soil loss. However, little is known about the effect of BC on soil microbial populations and activities. BC or PAM showed minor effect on the decomposition of SOM based on CO2 evolution because of the stability of these conditioners. A high portion of 14C maize residues were stabilized in the soil after adding BC and PAM as the binders by the occlusion of labile residue C into aggregates. Understanding the short term dynamics of C caused by PAM or BC is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A civil uprising began against the government of the country and started what is now known as the Syrian Civil War. Mass numbers of Syrian individuals were displeased with what they felt was a corrupt political regime ruling their country and sought to create a better way of life through their pro democracy protest. Without knowing this, conflict and destruction will continue to occur in Syria, and for that matter the rest of the world. What then is currently being done to stop such atrocities from occurring? Specifically in the case of the Temple of Baalshamin, many if not all of the preventative and preservation systems set in place to save remnants of human history only look at solving the problem at a surface level. For example, the Million Image Database Project and the New Palmyra Project both focus on preserving the Temple of Baalshamin through the collection of pictures and using digital computer renderings, in hopes that one day this site and potentially other sites could be rebuilt or forever preserved through the internet. While important as a step towards reducing loss, neither of these specific preservation examples seek to prevent such destruction from occurring in the first place. Be that as it may, even if there were a hundred systems in place that specifically attempt to prevent such instances of destruction from happening, it is highly likely they would focus only on alleviating issues that are at the surface layer of the underlying issues in a society, such as relieving hunger, poverty, and other forms of human distress. These loops are called the magnetic flux. When a charge moves in an electric field, it will experience an electrostatic force given by an equation F=qE. Also, when a charge enters a magnetic field B, a magnetic force is exerted. F=qv*B. If the charge moves in a wire, with length L, the force can be represented as F=ILBsin(theta). In the experiment, we were able to study the nature of the magnetic fields around the poles of magnets which helps me understand more about the concept of magnetic fields. We also determined the magnitude of magnetic force on a current carrying wire. We found out that these variables are directly proportional to each other. Lastly, we also study the nature of the relationships between magnetic force and magnetic field, current, length and orientation of current carrying wires. After the experiment, we were able to fully grasp the theories, concepts and principles relating to magnetism. The point is to become more involved with family and quality time.
