Use Of Household Wastewater And Convert It Into Usable...
Greywater systems are a way to use household wastewater and convert it into usable water for other
purposes. For example, wastewater from showers, washing machines, and dishwater can be reused,
mainly for landscape irrigation. Greywater is reusable due to the fact that the water being used does
not come in contact with feces from toilets, hence its reusability. Although greywatermay look dirty,
it is clean enough for the use in the watering of a lawn or landscaping. These greywater systems
have been improved throughout the years from when the systems were first legalized in 1989 to the
advanced systems available today.
The use of greywater systems was not legalized until August of 1989 in Santa Barbara, California.

The Code of Practice also covers the the potential risks of greywater recycling. The best way to
learn about implementing greywater system is contacting the Water Unit in the area of relevance.
Water recycling has been proven to be an efficient and successful way to create a new and
reliable source for water without compromising the health of the public. Scientists have been
looking for ways to reuse water, because as water energy demands and environmental needs grow
water recycling will play a bigger role in our overall water supply. With the help of scientific
research, water recycling, along with water conservation and efficiency will allow us to sustainably
manage our important water resources. There are many different practices that scientists have tried,
but greywater systems are the most cost efficient and easiest to be used within a household. Some
of the other options to a Greywater system would be sedimentation, biological oxidation, and
filtration. Sedimentation is the process in which water is separated from solids through the force of
gravity. Wastewateris placed in a primary sedimentation tank giving the water an opportunity to
separate. This technique is the primary treatment for sewage. Biological oxidation is where the
demand of oxygen within the wastewater is reduced, which then will also reduce the amount of
active toxins within the wastewater. This secondary treatment is widely used at sewage plants to

Thyroid Surgery Research Paper
Thyroid surgery is a broad term covering any type of operation on the thyroid gland. This is an
organ shaped like a butterfly which sits at the front of your neck, producing hormones that maintain
your metabolism. Almost all thyroid surgery involves some type of thyroid removal, also called a
thyroidectomy. There are two main types of thyroidremoval: a total thyroidectomy and a
hemithyroidectomy. In a total thyroidectomy, your whole thyroid gland is removed, whereas in a
hemithyroidectomy only about one half of it is removed.
Thyroid surgery is done by endocrine surgeons. These are surgeons who have specialised in
operating on organs which produce hormones such as the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas and
adrenal glands. This means that the doctor carrying out the thyroid surgery will have years of
experience in thyroid removal and be able to minimise any risks. They are able to discuss what
type of surgery is best for you and what your unique concerns are. While your surgeon will discuss
risks in detail before gaining your consent for the surgery here are three of the most important
complications of thyroid surgery, especially thyroid removal.

normal or high prior to the surgery they ll be carefully monitored afterwards. Hypothyroidism is
expected after a total thyroidectomy but uncommon after a hemithyroidectomy or other thyroid

Analysis Of The American Flamingo
When I looked at John James Audubon painting of the American Flamingo, his painting describes
the nature of the life of the flamingos and how their body moves around for them to go on with
their nature. The aspects that Audubon caught while painting the American Flamingo, that in the
background of the big rose pink flamingo that takes up most the paint, there you see a flamingo
standing differently than the other flamingos around that one. Also the different angles of how the
flamingos move their neck around. When I look at the rose pink flamingo s legs I see how fragile
they look, but Audubon might have wanted to paint the flamingo s legs to show how delicate they
are. The paintingdoes not give off the dark and gloomy nature of life but the life that was given to
the flamingos. The color choice that Audubon use was vibrant and detailed for the flamingo in the
front but the flamingos behind was paler and ghost like.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Young Man In A Grey Sweater Essay
Diego Rivera s Young Man in a Grey Sweater depicts the portrait of sculptor Jacques Lipchitz. The
piece was painted in 1914 in Paris, with oil on canvas. Present location is Museum of Modern Art,
New York.
This is rectangular piece, the size of 65.1 x 54.9 cm. Looking from a distance, painting has a
uniform color spectrum. Artist uses mostly warm earth tone palette: beige, grey, yellow and burnt
umber, with black for creating outline of the forms, and occasional multicolored patches for
additional accents. There is no visible source of light, however lighter areas of the painting are
focused in the center, while more contrast and darker areas tend to be around the middle section.
From a distance, brushstrokes look more unified, but when looking up closer, we can notice that
artist, while blending colors, uses distinctive strokes. So even blended, colors create some visual
texture. There is no noticeable degree of perspective or depth, painting looks rather flat.
Painting is done in cubist manner. The whole image is fragmented, with each fragment having a
geometrical shape. There are thick dark lines that divide each fragment one from another, so image
looks broken in pieces. The subject of the painting, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So how can it be distinguished among many other paintings inspired by the cubism movement?
Young Man in a Grey Sweater can t be defined as a pure analytical cubism. Though Rivera uses
typical palette of this kind of cubism, the elements are not translucent and intricate enough, there
are some texture and foreign colorful patterns. But it can t be an example of synthetic cubism
either, not enough construction, no perspective, image is still flat. Thus, Young Man in a Grey
Sweater is located somewhere in the middle of two types of cubism. Undefined, it doesn t loose its
beauty. It means that the painting can go beyond the established categories, and we can clearly read

The Liberties, Ideologies, And Effects Of Hacktivism
This paper discusses the liberties, ideologies, and effects of hacktivism. Hacktivism, is the
combination of hacking and activism, and is where a hacker creates a technology centered
disturbance with a political or social motive. Unlawful hackers typically cause cyber damage for
amusement, or monetary gain. While traditional hackers are perceived as criminals, hacktivists are
a transgressive group. Cyberterrorism is the most extreme version of hacking, where the goal is to
cause permanent damage. There are benefits to hacktivismsuch as, anyone can log on and share
their opinion, regardless of their location or position. However, some forms of hacktivism may be
closer to cyberterrorism, where there may be a malicious intent. Controversy... Show more content

In reality, hackers are a variety of people, with a range of reasons for what they do. Hacking began
in the late seventies and early eighties out of curiosity. Quickly, people began to realize the potential
for destruction through cyber attacks. From 2008 to 2012, the hacktivist group Anonymous, became
prevalent, because pretty much any amateur with a cause what kind of cause could join
Anonymous.. But after several group figureheads were arrested, the general public was deterred
from participating this hacktivist group.
From 2012 to the present, the door opened for hacktivist specialists beyond Anonymous, to cause
destruction. Hacktivism has shifted from large amounts of amateurs causing minimal damage, to
small amounts of hacking specialists causing tremendous amounts of damage. Due to the fact
that the Internet is largely privatized, it is very hard for hacktivists to get their point across to a
large number of people without breaking the law. So, a free speech space needs to be established
online to ensure that everyone has a chance to speak their mind on a digital sidewalk. The
extreme side of hacktivism is cyberterrorism. Terrorist groups like ISIS have begun to hire
specialists to wage cyberwar for their religious and political gain. The Internet battlefield has
become just as important as a physical one.
However, not all hackers are terrorists, criminals, or even hacktivists. Some hackers take up

The definition of the Art Director is well described by Shorter, G (2012, p 7), where she highlights
that the title encompasses the concept, design, creation and arrangement of all visual elements in a
screen narrative and ensures that all conceptual ideas run consistently and coherently throughout the

As regards to the role I was taken, my original title in the film was the Art Director. However, due
to the lack of people applied for the Costume Designer, Prop Manager and Production Designer
roles, I was responsible to take care of the actions required from each of these roles. My personal

Social Mobility In The Medieval And Renaissance Time Period
Throughout early British literature and history, there has been a gradual change in social class.
In the Anglo Norman time period, feudalism was in place which did not allow much movement
among the classes. However, that is not the case in the Medieval and Renaissance time period.
During these times, there were factors that played a part in allowing social mobility to take place.
In the duration of the Anglo Norman, Medieval, and Renaissance eras the options of social
mobility changed dramatically and possessed more alternative options people in these eras. During
the Anglo Norman time period there was not a chance for people to truly move through the social

Negative Effects Of Grand Theft Auto
In the modern world, violence is an everyday occurrence, and the video game Grand Theft Auto
not only promotes violence and aggression, but it also normalizes it, creating a negative impact
on society. Video games have gained a lot of popularity as of late, nearly every person has some
sort of gaming device, whether that is a console, handheld device, or even just a smartphone.
Consequently, the act of playing video gamesregularly has become accepted as ordinary in today s
culture. It seems strange to think that a video gamecould have any effect on society, whether it be
positive or negative. However, through the presentation of offensive language, aggressive behavior,
and gun violence, the video gameGrand Theft Auto will undoubtedly assist you in comprehending
the negative characteristics that a video game has the potential to possess.
The video game series Grand Theft Auto is comprised of a drawn out list of multiple different
versions of the game. Simply put, the game started with GTA 1 and progressed numerically to
GTA 5. Although each game is either played out in a different area or in a different time frame,

The Preparation Of Grignard Reagents
The preparation of Grignard reagents typically involves the reaction of an alkyl halide or aryl halide
with magnesium metal in an anhydrous ethereal solvent. This reaction results in the formation of a
carbon magnesium complex within an alkyl magnesium halide or aryl magnesium halide. Grignard
reagents are considered to be strong nucleophiles and strong bases that have the ability to react with
acidic proton sources and carbonyl functional groups. The preparation of Grignard reagents must be
conducted in aprotic solvents to minimize interactions with strong proton sources that may result in
undesired products. Furthermore, the solvent chosen for the reaction must dissolve everything in
solution. Commonly used solvents in Grignard reactions are diethyl etherand tetrahydrofuran
(THF). They are preferred over hexane solvents due to the presence of an oxygenatom which
contains a lone electron pair that attracts the partially positive magnesium metal, resulting in
increased stability. As mentioned previously, Grignard reagents are strong nucleophiles. Thus, there
is a possibility that they may react with other molecules in side reactions. One such side reaction
involves the Grignard reagent reacting with molecular oxygen (O2) to form a peroxide molecule.
In another side reaction, the Grignard reagent may react with carbon dioxide(CO2) to form a
carboxylate molecule. These side reactions can pose a problem since molecular oxygen and carbon
dioxide are in excess under normal

Comparing Havisham And Valentine
Havisham and Valentine are both poems written by Carol Ann Duffy. They both develop the idea
of what love is really about, while being two completely different interpretations about love. The
poet reveals the link between the two poems using a variety of techniques; Duffy expresses the
reality of lovein Valentine in contrast to the exaggeration that love is a thing of hate in Havisham .
Valentine directly tells the reader what love really is, Not a red rose or a satin heart / not a cute
car or a kissogram. Duffy takes away the materialistic side of love on Valentines Day, and looks
at it realistically, using an onion as a gift, instead. Imagery is used effectively in Valentine to
develop the key idea. I give you an onion. It is a moon... this metaphor is used to express the idea
of a gift larger than what it appears to be. The poet reveals the truth about love: It s fierce kiss will
stay on your lips, possessive and faithful. In effect this shows that love can be controlling. This
strong use of personification connects the onion to the lover highlighting the imagery constructed
in this poem about reality; and that love is hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

metaphor is used in Havisham that is emphasised: Ropes on the back of my hands I could

show her feelings, and the violent feelings that disturb her could be a driving force of murder for
her. The violent imagery that is used, along with the word strangle gives us the idea that Miss

The Three Assumptions Of Confessionalism
Many protestants, not brought up in liturgical church settings, find themselves taken aback and
confused when first reading the Nicene Creed. This is true especially pertaining to what the creed
says about the church. Unfortunately, in many Baptist, Pentecostal, and non denominational
Churches, the Nicene Creed is unfamiliar or unknown to the majority of Church members. A
common argument against the use of creeds is why use a creed when we ve got the bible? While
this may seem to be rooted in a very high view of scripture, Carl R. Trueman suggests that it is
possibly an unwitting capitulation to the spirit of the age. In short, Trueman argues that the three
assumptions of confessionalism, the past being important and of positive relevance today, language
as being a stable transmission of truth throughout time, and the need for a body or institution
capable of composing and enforcing creeds, are all countercultural in today s world. Trueman s
third assumption can sound like nails on a chalkboard for many Christians. A seemingly ironic
distrust of religious organizations exists heavily within Christianity. This skepticism about the
church is why one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church can be a difficult thing to say, let alone
believe. However, it is a misunderstanding of the church that leads to distrusting the creed s validity
when it comes to the Bride of Christ. This paper sets out to affirm that there truly is one, holy,
catholic an apostolic church. Even in

The costliest and most ambitious picture ever screened in Europe (Jensen) the film was premiered

The scene is of great visual impact, with dark figures glimpsed merely as silhouettes in the dusty
air and hazy light of the machine room. Through a screen of smoke an accident is viewed by
Freder, who is fittingly dressed in white garb. He is absolutely shocked as he witnesses the dark
figures bearing the casualties file past, shot against the light.
As Freder makes his transition into the underworld, we come to the scene in the catacombs where a
crowd of dark figures with pale faces is contrasted with the white crosses in the background, and the
touching figure of the good Maria. The construction of the great tower is shown to us as we witness

This passage fits the novel because it helps add to the plot line. For instance, Orpheus was
devoted after his wife s passing. Therefore, he was determined to go to the Underground world
or also called the world of death, and try to convince the ruler of Hades (ruler of the dead) to
bring his wife, Eurydice, back to life. With Orpheus is a mortal amongst the great gods who
inherit musical talent, he sang his heart out to the Gods of the dead and stole the hearts of their
evil souls. They eventually became hypnotized by his angel like voice and granted his wishes.
Unfortunately, his wife banished through his eyes after the Gods strictly told him not to look

faint word, farewell, (142). After this happened, Orpheus tried to go back to the second world,
but they refused to let him entrance again because he was a mortal who ve already passed through

Stoichiometry Lab Report
Stoichiometric Reactions with Phosphoric Acid
By Jaime Conklin
Partner: Deanna Ryan
CHE 120 03
Instructor: Mr. Cusumano
September 30, 2015
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the stoichiometric relationship between reagents and
the identity of the products by using three acid/base neutralization reactions of a triprotic acid,
phosphoric acid, and varying molar equivalents of sodium hydroxide. The data will be used to
determine the formula weight of the products and identify the remaining salt for all three reactions.
Introduction
In this experiment, we learned about stoichiometry, empirical formula, molecular formula,
polyprotic acids and bases, metathesis reactions, and moles.
Stoichiometry is a very important part of chemistry. Stoichiometry refers to calculating the masses
of molecules and their products . The reactants are usually given and stoichiometry is used to find
the products of the equations as well balancing the equation. An example of this would be sodium
chloride (NaCl). Stoichiometry will say that if there are ten thousand atoms of sodium and one
atom of chlorine, only one molecule of sodium chloride can be made and that fact can never be
changed.
Ex: 10,000Na + 1Cl в†’ NaCl + 9,999Na
Empirical formulas represent the ratio of atoms in a formula. It is expressed in the simplest, small,
whole number ratio. The molecular formula can either be the empirical formula, or a multiple of
the empirical

Bruce Tuckman s Four Stages Of Team Development
HW 5: 5 STAGES OF TEAM BUILDING
Introduction
In 1965, Bruce Tuckman developed the first four stages of team growth. He called these stages
Tuckman Stages, based off of a study he conducted on research dynamics (Abudi, 2009). However,
in 1977, a fifth stage, adjourning, was added to the four stages. The five stages that will be
discussed are: forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning.
Forming Stage The forming stage occurs when the team members first get introduced to each other.
Typically, either a formal or casual meeting is held between team members. Each team member
shares information about themselves, such as their background information and their general
interests. I like to see it as an ice breaker. You cannot start... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I compare it to an actual performance this is the stage of a performance where are all the scripts
are finished and the acting begins. In more literal terms, the performing stage is when everyone
in the team starts acting towards the goal. By this point, the team members are more
comfortable with each other. At this point, the team leader isn t involved in any decision
making. It is wholly up to the team to work on the project at hand and to reach their goal. The
advantage to this role is that it allows the manager to see how the team is growing. It also allows
the manager to see how well his/her team can work on their own two feet without having to be
guided by a leader. However, I noticed that it is possible during this stage to revert back to the
previous stages of team building. I have noticed while working on group projects for school, that
there is usually one person who tends to start working independently. This will immediately take
the group back to the storming stage. If the team gets taken back to any of the previous stages, it is
up to them to work through the change to get back to the performing stage (Abudi,

Similarities Between The British And Roman Empire
As the series Game of Thrones starts a new season, illustrating a bloody scenario of Kings and
Queens contesting for total control of lands and supremacy, we may be reminded that such a
fiction was a reality in past history minus the dragons and the walking dead of course. As history
progresses in time, empires rise and fall. Historians look back on once strong empires and are
divided, concerning if the damage they caused and slaughter they wrought was worth the advances
they gave to the world. When comparing once powerful empires like the British and Roman Empire
, one clearly rises above all in terms of all out strength and domination, but the way they become
powerful is similar. Governments that hold true power seem to be reflected on the most. Both the
British and Roman Empire reigned with significant authority and yielded to defeat or declinism;
however, the Roman Empire stands superior not only for its lengthy rule, but for its everlasting
influence over others, and its expansion of citizenship.
Both empires found great power and peaked at some point in their long reign, but with every great
empire comes an end. According to the New World Encyclopedia, The British Empirewas the most
extensive empire in world history for a time as the foremost global power. It was a product of the
European age of discovery, which began with the global maritime explorations of Portugal and
Spain in the late fifteenth century. According to the Ancient History Encyclopedia, The Roman

Michael Pollan Leadership
Introduction: Leaders are motivators, innovators, and passionate individuals. Through their hard
work and personality, leaders are able to set goals for themselves to create positive change both on
their own and with others. Michael Pollan, an author, food activist, journalist and professor at UC
Berkeley, demonstrates and actively practices key leadership skills that I find both inspiring and
thoughtful. His system thinking approach to his own personal learning, to leading others, and his
approach to health promotion is what makes him an exemplary leader that Kouzes and Posner

Exercise On Childhood Obesity Is Becoming A Common Problem
Exercise the main focus
Fitness today seems to be a pretty modern invention. Exercise sure goes back farther in time but

physically sedentary and out of shape., the health and fitness industry as whole, no matter how
cutting edge or revolutionary each new program claims to be, has failed to get the majority of

the physical education could boost the student s performance by making friendly competition to

many haver cut down physical education to focus on academics. This point in our society

The Nature Of The Poetry Of Percy Shelley s Mutability
Shelley Percy is one of the most highly regarded Romantic poets of the 19th century. Many of
Shelley s poem tell about the nature of the human condition. In many of his poems Shelley use
elements of nature (seashells, the wind, the ocean, etc.) to discuss truths about the human condition.
Percy Shelley examines the one consistent characteristic of being human in his poem Mutability . In
his poem Mutability Shelley shows the fragility and unpredictability of the human condition.
The poem opens with the speaker comparing humans to clouds that veil the midnight moon (Line
1). The clouds move radiantly across the sky and cover the light of the moon. The words speed ,
gleam , quiver and streaking personify the cloud image. Shelley describes the cloud s actions as
a metaphor for human actions, How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver, / streaking the
darkness radiantly! (Lines 2 3). He believes that humans go through life with speed, not taking
time to rest; like clouds at night, we do not last forever. Shelley s use of the word of veil instead
of covers creates a sense of purposefully hidden light. In lines three to four of the poem the
wondrous sight is eventually extinguished by the darkness, yet soon/ Night closes round, and they
are lost forever. By using this image of the night Shelley shows the cycle of change and
demonstrates human morality. The speaker is pointing out that humans have short lives on Earth
and regardless of how radiantly we may shine, we are like clouds at night that are overshadowed.
In the second stanza Shelley describes the frailty of human existence. In lines five through nine
humans are describes as forgotten lyres, whose dissonant strings/ Give various response to each
varying blast,/ To whose frail frame no second motion brings/ One mood or modulation like the
last. Shelley uses this as a metaphor that expands on the concept of human morality. In this stanza
humans are compared to forgotten lyres saying that we will be forgotten when we are dead and
gone. The different moods of the stanza are created by the different sounds of the lyre. Humans are
being compared to instruments with beautifully melodies have been forgotten. Shelley is saying

Differences Between Structural And Closed Family Systems
Module 8: Assignment Timothy Polk PSY530 Advanced Counseling Skills Helen Livingston 5
01 2017 1.Compare the definitions of dysfunction offered by Structural and Bowenian therapists.
Structural therapists see dysfunction as it relates to the family. According to structural therapists
the reason dysfunction occurs is when stressful situations happen that require individuals to
adapt but they find themselves unable to do so because of boundaries that are either too rigid or
too blurred . If the boundaries are too rigid it prevents stress from being transmitted to all
members of the system and if they are too blurred it can lead to immediate and intense
transmission of stress and potentially excessive reactions (p. 424). Bowenian therapists see
dysfunction as problems that arise from the combination of anxiety and the differentiation of
self. The higher the level of a person s differentiation or adaptability the better they will be at
dealing with stress and thus combating dysfunction. 2.Describe the differences between open and
closed family systems and give an example of each. The differences between open family
systems and closed family systems are that open family systems allows for information to be
passed through it allowing it to change and adapt when the need arises, while conversely a closed
family system would be one that allows no information to pass through it therefore zero ability to
adapt. An example of a closed family system

Abstract: The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is becoming popular areas of
research under pattern recognition and smart device applications. It requires the intelligence
like human brain to recognize the various handwritten characters. Artificial Neural Network
(ANN) is used together the information required to recognize the characters adaptively. This
paper presents a performance analysis of character recognition by Scale Invariant Feature
(SIF) matrix with a Back Propagation Neural network (BPN). A GUI based OCR system is
developed using Mat lab. The results are shown for the English alphabets and numeric. This
is observed that the perceptron network converges faster, whereas the BPN can handle the
complex script recognition when the training set is enriched.
Keywords:

Introduction:
Automatic character recognition is a well accepted area of research under pattern recognition.
In handwritten character recognition, characters are written by different individuals that vary
drastically from person to person due to variation in the writing style, its size and orientation
of characters. This makes the system difficult to recognize the characters. Artificial Neural
Network (ANN) helps to solve the problem of identifying handwritten characters in an
automated manner. ANN is an adaptive

Should The Minimum Age Be Raised To 18
For many teenagers in the United States their 16th birthday is an important milestone. This is
the age that teenagers begin to integrate more into society as they begin to drive and experience
new levels of freedom. As 16 is the usual minimum age for employment in most industries some
teens even get jobs for personal reason or to benefit their household. The minimum age to acquire
a driver s licence should not increase to 18 as younger teens will not be able to help provide for
their families with current public transportation methods in the United States. According to the
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety the first drivers license dates back to 1899 with a license
being issued for a steam propelled vehicle in Chicago, Illinois. Over the next five years various
states began introducing laws on driving, specifically the minimum age, to ensure public safety.
While some states like Massachusetts and Missouri were quick to enact these laws, others were
not. South Dakota took over 50 years to enact a minimum driving age in the state. As states, one
by one, began drafting these public safety laws, the age required to obtain a license varied from 14

Villanelle
Death is inevitable; there is no going around it. Do not go gentle into that good night by Dylan
Thomas is a short villanelle poem written in 1951. The author was born in Swansea, Wales on
October 27, 1914. Raised by his father, David John Thomas, which was an English master at the
local grammar school, and became a big influence for Dylan Thomas. In the author s poem the
speaker addresses his father that if he must die then he should die with a fight. Nevertheless, the
poem has a universal meaning in which humanity should not fear the unknown, but they should
confront it.

In the past, Poets usually employed the villanelle for light or bucolic subjects, a kind of peacefully
rural poem or pastoral . In the poem, the villanelle is used in an uncommon form for the following
reason: the poem does not preach calm, as might be expected, but rage, rage against death, that
event often equated with Nature as an ultimate physical force (Jhan). The ending of a villanelle is
the most important because it is the central message of the poem. The speaker is persuading the
readers the importance to not die without a word. With the last stanza And you, my father, there
on the sad height (Thomas 16). The readers can conclude that the speaker is a son standing next
to the deathbed of his father. Although deathbeds are low to the ground, the admiration of his
father is a sad height because he looked up to him. Coincidently, the author was experiencing the
same situation, making this poem very personal. One can only imagine these were his last
thoughts as his father was dying. The readers can assume this poem was written in villanelle form
to present it to his father. In the last stanza the speaker is imploring to his father to not go
peacefully, but to be part of these men that refuse to die. In these last lines it finalizes the poem into

March 8th is International Women s Day, defined by YES! Magazine as: a day started on March
8, 1857, in New York City by Garment workers who staged a protest against inhumane working

movement continued. By 1908 the movement had grown to 15,000 women in the New York City

slogan for this rally became Bread and Roses with bread symbolizing economic security and roses
for better living standards. May 1908, the Socialist party named the first International Working

The Cersei Lannister of Privacy Invasion: An Over Controlling and Oppressive Watchful
Government Presence Online In the television show Game of Thrones, there exists a world

She rules Westeros with power, control, and an authoritarian air that commands fear from her
subjects. Cersei Lannister is the epitome of a bully government and will stop at nothing to get

Ethical Relation in Don DeLillo s White Noise : A Levinasian Approach
Abstract:
In his writings, Emmanuel Levinas has described Face to Face relation as a relation not reducible
to compression and believes it is this encounter of the face that puts responsibility to the other on
our shoulders and stops us from perusing selfish desires. In this essay through a Levinasian study
of Don DeLillo s White Noise I want to show, how the people of the society, in this work, are
inattentive to the Face to Face relation which, alongside their self centered attitudes, leads the
protagonist to destructive actions, who finds comfort only after his realization of such relation with
the Other.

Diversity Promotes A Higher Potential Of Success For A...
Albert Einstein once said, We cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we
used when we created them. In other words, we need different ideas to come to an optimal
solution. Diversity encompasses a variety of differences between people in this world. Each
individual is classified to be different from one another whether it is from age, gender, race,
personality, education, background, experiences, and more. Varying viewpoints provides a
team with a larger pool of ideas to work with and filter out what works for them. Modern day
businesses that are striving towards success through innovation tend to lean teams building a
diverse team. A variety of experiences and backgrounds creates a channel of people who can
provide innovated ideas that may have never been thought of. In this paper, I argue that
diversity promotes a higher potential of success for a company. Age diversity plays a significant
factor in productivity. From the young to the old, knowledge will vary when it comes to age and
experience. Together they will comprise of a team with different perspectives and interpretations

Culture Of The Lincoln Electric Company
Written Assignment Unit 3
Culture of the Lincoln Electric Company The company culture of Lincoln Electric is one of
teamwork, support and innovation. After reading and reviewing the case study done on Lincoln
Electric by Arthur Sharplin of McNeese State University, I have come away with a better
understanding of how the company has become the role model for management world wide.
Many different programs have been incorporated into the company that insures morale and
productivity levels remain high. Among these include end of year bonuses, good merit rewards,
and great benefits, all of which we go into detail later on.
How this culture came to be in the Lincoln Company begins with the founder s values and
principles. When James Lincoln ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If it did control our acts, the savings in cost of distribution would be tremendous. Advertising would
be a contact of the expert consultant with the customer, in order to give the customer the best
product available when all of the customer s needs are considered. Competition then would be in
improving the quality of products and increasing efficiency in producing and distributing them;
not in deception, as is now too customary. Pricing would reflect efficiency of production; it would
not be selling a dodge that the customer may well be sorry he accepted. It would be proper for all
concerned and rewarding for the ability used in producing the product. (Lincoln, 1961)
It is said that early company values exert influence over future company values. This is true in the
case of Lincoln electric. As stated earlier, many programs have been incorporated into the
business to aid employees. The first year the advisory board was put into place, the work week
went from 55 to 50 hours. In 1915, the company gave each employee a life insurance policy. In
1917, a welding school was created which still continues today. In 1918, a bonus plan was put
into action on trial basis. It was removed and then reinserted later and became a strong point of
Lincoln s management system. In 1919, Lincoln created the Employee Assocation to provide
health benefits and social activities for employees. By 1923, employees were given two weeks
paid vacation

Fahrenheit 451 Phoenix Analysis
Why are phoenix and a fireman the same
In fahrenheit 451 Ray Bradbury compares a phoenix and a fireman alike.
Animal and nature imagery the novel nature is presented as a force of innocence and the truth
beginning with clarisse s. Clarisse s convinces montag to taste the rain and the experience
change him irrevocably Montag escape from the city into the country is a revelation to him
showing him the enlightening power of unspoiled nature. The phoenix is a symbol for renewal
for life follows death in a cleaning fire. The hearth or fireplace is a traditional symbol of the
home the salamander is one the official symbols of the fireman. The phoenix is a lizard who is a
mythic being able to live even in the presence of a fire it s skin is cold and suggested that cold
body can put out the flame the rising phoenix out of the ashes live again. Fire is an interesting
symbol in fahrenheit 451 because it symbolizes two different meanings. The fireman who burn
books and wear the number 451 on their helments fire symolizes destruction (451 is the
temperature at which paper and books burn.) when fire is controlled symbolizes the flickering of
self awareness and knowledge. After the city is reduced to ashes by bombers in fahrenheit 451
granger compares mankind to phoenix that burns itself up and then rises out of it s ashes over and
over again both destroy themselves in fire and both start up again amid the ashes. Ray Bradbury
describes a phoenix as water and a fireman as fire the hearth and the salamander mirrors symbol
of self understanding of seeing oneself clearly that recalls to montag s description of clarisse as a

Human Rights Violations in Guatemala Essay
Guatemala is among one of the countries that is suffering from major human rights violations. The
topics that I will be covering include the three main laws of human rights that are being violated in
the country of Guatemala, as well as evidence and stories of victims, and the changes that this
country is going through. I will be bringing up the topic of Guatemala s human rightsviolations and
acts of injustice, including giving my opinion on these matters.
Guatemala is a country that has yet to recover from past wars, and the country is lacking in peace
between society, government and authorities. In the 1980 s after Guatemala s war resolution state
violence increased, reaching genocidal proportions, meaning that an extreme number of ... Show

None of these incidents has been satisfactorily investigated by the Guatemalan government; nor
have those responsible been brought to justice, (Lobe, Jim.) , Gillermo Ovale de Leon an
accountant was murdered in a robbery less than a block away from a foundations office. Two cars
were seen by several witnesses with 3 4 armed men in military uniform. This murder was
interpreted as another act of violence in Guatemala. This crime also coincided with important
developments in two legal cases regarding the FRMT. a climate of fear due to threats, intimidations,
disappearance and even killings. The perpetrators of these attacks are reportedly illegal clandestine
groups. Allegedly, some of them have links with state institutions, in particular the police and the
army. (Raul, Molina.)
The first example that we see is the violation of the fifth right in the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights stating that nobody has the right to torture you. In 1992 , a woman by the name
of Maritza Uritia was abducted by armed men. Her husband was a part of the poor army, and the
men who were known to have abducted her were a part of what they called a secret organization.

Different Cues Affect Binocular And Monocular Vision
Many researchers are interested in depth perception and how different cues affect what is seen.
There have been lots of studies done around depth perception. Some have done studies on how
different cues affect binocular and monocular vision in depth perception (Reinhardt Rutland, 1996).
Others have studied how depth cues are used in tasks like computer and video based tasks
(Westerman Cribbin, 1998).
Visual depth perception is using cues to perceive the world in three dimensions and the distance of
objects. There are many cues to help with depth perception. They can be categorised in either
binocular vision (two eyes) or monocular vision (one eye). Binocular only has physiological cues
(retinal disparity and convergence). Monocular has physiological cues (accommodation and motion
parallax) and pictorial cues (interposition, elevation, texture, linear perspective, shading, aerial
perspective, and familiar and relative size). Pictorial cues can be in two dimensions and doesn t
need motion (Westerman Cribbin, 1998) whereas the other three (binocular, monocular and
physiological) use motion and three dimensions. Monocular vision comes from changes of each eye
connecting to distance. The most importance is accommodation. This is the change of lens curves
needed to maintain a sharp image on the retina. With the way that monocular changes occur it is
said that this influences depth perception most strongly. Monocular vision doesn t really affect
depth perception but it does

Innocence In Brave New World
Innocence is something that can only be lost once. Within both The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara
Kingsolver and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley there are various characters that lose their
innocence in very dramatic ways. A character can lose their innocence due to the death of someone
else. They can also lose their innocence by just being looked at from a different perspective by
others, this can be seen through the characters Bernard and Rachel. ADD ANOTHER TOPIC
Someone who has lost their innocence changes their personality and perspective on life, which
results in them acting in situations differently than they would before. When someone loses their
innocence from the death of another this can very negatively affect the character s emotions.... Show

This is most seen from Bernard in A Brave New Worldand from Rachel in The Poisonwood Bible.
When Bernard brings a Savage back to the city he lives in he is seen like a superstar which
makes him feel like he is finally wanted by someone, when previously no one liked him. Rachel
goes through the same process as Bernard, but backwards. She is used to living the good life and
being pretty in the United States, but when she goes to the Congo she is different then everyone
else which makes her feel self conscious. When Bernard brings back John the Savage from the
Indian reservation to the big city he is a celebrity. He is constantly invited to parties and gets the
opportunities to meet very important people within the city. Since he is now seen as a very
important person in the city this makes him feel more welcome, but he also acts very differently
compared to his previous timider self. This is shown most clearly when he gets frustrated with his
only friend Helmholtz about his resent popularity. It is said

Compare And Contrast Camaro Vs Ford Mustang
A Lot of people argue about what car is better the Ford Mustang or the Chevy Camaro. To a lot of
people the Camero is better but not to me. The Ford Mustang has a lot of features better than the
camaro. In the first place, I think a mustang is better because it s been around for 11 years longer
than the camaro. Plus as far as the new ones go they re more visually appealing with curves and
soft lines while the new camaros are very square with hard lines. Especially the dashboard is a
little too tall for my taste and it s a more expensive car. In the second place, On U.S News.com it
states that the mustang has been an American icon since Ford introduced it as a 2 seat concept car

Disclosure Of Leases On Company Financial Statements
In 1949 the AICPA released ARB No. 38 over the disclosure of leases on company financial
statements. Before this bulletin it was not normal for the lessee to disclose the fact that the
company was in a contract long term lease of an asset. The Accounting Institute of Certified Public
Accountants felt that investors and other decision making personnel should have the right to know
about leases in which a company was contractually bound. The committee states in this bulletin that
when it clearly evident that the lessee will have ownership of the assetafter all payments are made,
that the lessee should account for this in the assets and liabilities of the company s Balance Sheet.
The committee believes that the AICPA issued the opinion that all long term leases should be
disclosed in the financial statements or the footnotes. These disclosures include the payment
amounts and other obligations assumed not only in the year in which they occurred but any
material amounts in the life of the lease. (Committee on Accounting Procedure, American Institute
of Accountants, 1949) Although, the main point of this bulletin was to address long term leases,
the AICPA never formally defines what it means by a long term lease which can be assumed to be
what modern day accounting defines as a capital lease. The purpose of the bulletin was not to
address short term leases (now called operating leases) because there was no exchange of rights in
these situations. Although the above opinion was

Valley Fold Studios Marketing Mix
In our major project, we in Valley Fold Studios will be creating a puzzle game for touchscreen
devices, where the player manipulates paper like structures into origami in three dimensional
space. Our goal is to create a well polished product that can be released to the public, primarily as
something we can be proud of and use to promote ourselves, as well as to potentially create
something that we can sell.
The target market that we expect our game to appeal to is mobile gamers in general. We are
targeting the wide age range that is represented in mobile gaming with the median age being 27.
We expect that our game will be gender neutral, appealing mostly to a teenage and older audience
as the puzzles will require calm thinking to complete. We intend for the game to be playable in
short sessions, with easy to learn mechanics and simple yet involving puzzles, giving the game a
pick up and play nature that can be played while commuting or anywhere that the player has a few
minutes of time to spare.
We intend to publish the game on one of, or both Google Play, and the Apple app store. Publishing
to android will most likely be an easier process as apple will require us to wait about six days or
more for the game to be reviewed, and there are 180 guidelines that the app must follow, however ...

How do the Literary Devices construct meaning in The Visit ? The book The Visit is a play which
is composed by literary devices. All of the messages and ideas that this play contains are expressed
through literary devices, thus giving life to the major themes. Literary devices give meaning to The
Visit because they construct the main theme, which is money can corrupt anything. To begin, there
are many literary devices in The Visit , and they are continuously used with the purpose of
constructing the play s main theme. These are some of the prolonged literary devices are
symbolism, archetype, foreshadowing, characterization, and the setting. Symbolism is a great
example because it has a direct relation with money. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This change in people s character again contributes to the main theme, and gives meaning to it.
Furthermore, the setting is a fundamental literary device which forms the main theme and gives
meaning to The Visit . This is because the setting paves out the environment and situation in
which Guellen is in from the beginning of the book. All throughout Act 1 the reader is given the
idea of how poor Guellen is and everyone is so humble and local. For example, how the train no
longer stops in Guellen, how people only buy cheap local brands at the shop and not imported,
how they accept Ill as dead for Claire s one million, how Ill is the most popular personality. These
examples all show how the town functions, and how they are desperate for money and are
willing to commit a moral crime in order to receive this money. The setting in the The Visit
gives meaning to the play because it fundaments how and why Guellen is the way it is and
allows the reader to understand the specific effects Guellen s history plays in the decision
making, once Claire offers the one million pounds. So, literary devices also give meaning to The
Visit because they lay the base for the play and how it develops. Finally, literary devices give
meaning to The Visit because they comprise the main theme, which is money can corrupt anything.
Literary devices give meaning by creating the bases of the play, and forming the main theme in
wide number of ways. Literary devices are the

A Feminist Stance In Politics
A Feminist Stance in Politics in the Middle East During the first few weeks of my Women
Filmmakers in the Middle East class we watched two films and did a few readings to start the
semester. One of the readings was The Political Aesthetics of the Feminist Documentary Film by
Julia Lesage. This reading was informative and also had arguments about feminist documentaries
based in the Middle East that I really agreed with. The first film we watched was a documentary
called The Play the second documentary was called The Four Women of Egypt. Although the
women in the films are very different, they all have a very strong feminist perspective that have
assisted in making a difference in this world and to me. Pelin Esmer, the director of The Play
really emphasized that the women in this documentary were real in the sense that they had a low
level of education and had gone through some really hard times. Theses factors played such a
huge role in Esmer s political voice because they were displayed for the audience to become... Show

absent, and because girls grow up in an emotional continuum with their mothers and the other

are deep to other women (231). I agree with this because in both films you are able to see the
women influencing each other. In The Play the men (except for the principal) are not really
involved and don t necessarily have a feminist opinion on female oppression. In The Four Women
of Egypt, there is no man that is being interviewed or shown talking about feminism. Lesage s
argument also makes sense to me because I was able to personally be inspired by these two

Gatsby Narcissism Analysis
Millon s category of elitist narcissism will not be used in this essay because this type amplifies
an already inflated self image as opposed to negating feelings of inadequacy and inferiority
(Millon, Personality Disorders 339). Millon states that this type of narcissism stems from a fear of
being ordinary (Personality Disorders 339). In my analysis, I argue that Gatsby s and Gray s
narcissismcan be seen as a result of self esteem issues, and that excludes the elitist narcissism.
Before moving on to the analysis, I am going to provide a description of the three subtypes used in
this essay. Millon writes that unprincipled narcissists have the self confident behavior of the

They are very skillful in charming and attracting the emotionally naive and needy while
fulfilling their hedonistic desires and sexual appetites as they see fit (Millon, Personality

relationship, they do not have a preference for legitimate intimacy and instead seduce several
potential conquests at the same time (Millon, Personality Disorders 339). Millon states that
these narcissists augment their sense of narcissistic power with sexual conquests, and after
having won others over they swiftly write off their lovers and continue their game elsewhere
(Personality Disorders 339). The sexual exploits of amorous narcissists are short lived, and last
mostly one afternoon to only a few weeks. They normally view their partners as a temporary
warm body that they can exploit before boredom overtakes them. Furthermore, amorous
narcissists leave behind them a series of scandalous acts such as swindling, sexual abundance,
pathological lying and fraud (Millon, Disorders of 411). Moreover, criticism or confrontations are
not likely to change their ways as they will simply dismiss these as a result of jealousy by inferior
people (Millon, Personality Disorders 339). Amorous narcissists will also in most cases display a
considerable body narcissism, and care a great deal about their appearance and clothes (Millon,

Normative Expectations
As I have grown older I have thought about how, where I live has shaped my life. I have moved
two times in my life, I was born out of the country and I moved to an urban town in New Jersey
when I was two, then when I was eight I moved to a suburban town. I think about the possibility
of having lived two differents life s from the one I live now. My town is the typical middle class
town that is seen on t.v. With only three schools in the district everyone is bound to know each
other. The geographic location is very simple everything is within walking distance, the schools,

community I did not focus on the negativity but instead on the positive aspects that make this town
great, which is education. My normative expectations is that every student goes to college and
creates a meaningful career for themselves. My perspective is not much different from my parent s
perspective. The only differences is that they did not have the opportunities that I have. They grew
up in Central America which shaped their expectations for their family. My father fought hard to

  • 2. Use Of Household Wastewater And Convert It Into Usable... Greywater systems are a way to use household wastewater and convert it into usable water for other purposes. For example, wastewater from showers, washing machines, and dishwater can be reused, mainly for landscape irrigation. Greywater is reusable due to the fact that the water being used does not come in contact with feces from toilets, hence its reusability. Although greywatermay look dirty, it is clean enough for the use in the watering of a lawn or landscaping. These greywater systems have been improved throughout the years from when the systems were first legalized in 1989 to the advanced systems available today. The use of greywater systems was not legalized until August of 1989 in Santa Barbara, California. By May of 1991, five ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Water recycling has been proven to be an efficient and successful way to create a new and reliable source for water without compromising the health of the public. Scientists have been looking for ways to reuse water, because as water energy demands and environmental needs grow water recycling will play a bigger role in our overall water supply. With the help of scientific research, water recycling, along with water conservation and efficiency will allow us to sustainably manage our important water resources. There are many different practices that scientists have tried, but greywater systems are the most cost efficient and easiest to be used within a household. Some of the other options to a Greywater system would be sedimentation, biological oxidation, and filtration. Sedimentation is the process in which water is separated from solids through the force of gravity. Wastewateris placed in a primary sedimentation tank giving the water an opportunity to separate. This technique is the primary treatment for sewage. Biological oxidation is where the demand of oxygen within the wastewater is reduced, which then will also reduce the amount of active toxins within the wastewater. This secondary treatment is widely used at sewage plants to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Thyroid Surgery Research Paper Thyroid surgery is a broad term covering any type of operation on the thyroid gland. This is an organ shaped like a butterfly which sits at the front of your neck, producing hormones that maintain your metabolism. Almost all thyroid surgery involves some type of thyroid removal, also called a thyroidectomy. There are two main types of thyroidremoval: a total thyroidectomy and a hemithyroidectomy. In a total thyroidectomy, your whole thyroid gland is removed, whereas in a hemithyroidectomy only about one half of it is removed. Thyroid surgery is done by endocrine surgeons. These are surgeons who have specialised in operating on organs which produce hormones such as the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas and adrenal glands. This means that the doctor carrying out the thyroid surgery will have years of experience in thyroid removal and be able to minimise any risks. They are able to discuss what type of surgery is best for you and what your unique concerns are. While your surgeon will discuss risks in detail before gaining your consent for the surgery here are three of the most important complications of thyroid surgery, especially thyroid removal. Analysis Of The American Flamingo When I looked at John James Audubon painting of the American Flamingo, his painting describes the nature of the life of the flamingos and how their body moves around for them to go on with their nature. The aspects that Audubon caught while painting the American Flamingo, that in the background of the big rose pink flamingo that takes up most the paint, there you see a flamingo standing differently than the other flamingos around that one. Also the different angles of how the flamingos move their neck around. When I look at the rose pink flamingo s legs I see how fragile they look, but Audubon might have wanted to paint the flamingo s legs to show how delicate they are. The paintingdoes not give off the dark and gloomy nature of life but the life that was given to the flamingos. • 7. Young Man In A Grey Sweater Essay Diego Rivera s Young Man in a Grey Sweater depicts the portrait of sculptor Jacques Lipchitz. The piece was painted in 1914 in Paris, with oil on canvas. Present location is Museum of Modern Art, New York. This is rectangular piece, the size of 65.1 x 54.9 cm. Looking from a distance, painting has a uniform color spectrum. Artist uses mostly warm earth tone palette: beige, grey, yellow and burnt umber, with black for creating outline of the forms, and occasional multicolored patches for additional accents. There is no visible source of light, however lighter areas of the painting are focused in the center, while more contrast and darker areas tend to be around the middle section. From a distance, brushstrokes look more unified, but when looking up closer, we can notice that artist, while blending colors, uses distinctive strokes. So even blended, colors create some visual texture. There is no noticeable degree of perspective or depth, painting looks rather flat. Painting is done in cubist manner. The whole image is fragmented, with each fragment having a geometrical shape. There are thick dark lines that divide each fragment one from another, so image looks broken in pieces. Young Man in a Grey Sweater can t be defined as a pure analytical cubism. Though Rivera uses typical palette of this kind of cubism, the elements are not translucent and intricate enough, there are some texture and foreign colorful patterns. But it can t be an example of synthetic cubism either, not enough construction, no perspective, image is still flat. Thus, Young Man in a Grey Sweater is located somewhere in the middle of two types of cubism. Undefined, it doesn t loose its beauty. It means that the painting can go beyond the established categories, and we can clearly read the author in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In reality, hackers are a variety of people, with a range of reasons for what they do. Hacking began in the late seventies and early eighties out of curiosity. Quickly, people began to realize the potential for destruction through cyber attacks. From 2008 to 2012, the hacktivist group Anonymous, became prevalent, because pretty much any amateur with a cause what kind of cause could join Anonymous.. But after several group figureheads were arrested, the general public was deterred from participating this hacktivist group. From 2012 to the present, the door opened for hacktivist specialists beyond Anonymous, to cause destruction. Hacktivism has shifted from large amounts of amateurs causing minimal damage, to small amounts of hacking specialists causing tremendous amounts of damage. Due to the fact that the Internet is largely privatized, it is very hard for hacktivists to get their point across to a large number of people without breaking the law. So, a free speech space needs to be established online to ensure that everyone has a chance to speak their mind on a digital sidewalk. The extreme side of hacktivism is cyberterrorism. However, due to the lack of people applied for the Costume Designer, Prop Manager and Production Designer roles, I was responsible to take care of the actions required from each of these roles. My personal experience would cover all these roles, mainly concentrating on my main title as the Art ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Social Mobility In The Medieval And Renaissance Time Period Throughout early British literature and history, there has been a gradual change in social class. In the Anglo Norman time period, feudalism was in place which did not allow much movement among the classes. However, that is not the case in the Medieval and Renaissance time period. During these times, there were factors that played a part in allowing social mobility to take place. In the duration of the Anglo Norman, Medieval, and Renaissance eras the options of social mobility changed dramatically and possessed more alternative options people in these eras. • 13. The Preparation Of Grignard Reagents The preparation of Grignard reagents typically involves the reaction of an alkyl halide or aryl halide with magnesium metal in an anhydrous ethereal solvent. This reaction results in the formation of a carbon magnesium complex within an alkyl magnesium halide or aryl magnesium halide. Grignard reagents are considered to be strong nucleophiles and strong bases that have the ability to react with acidic proton sources and carbonyl functional groups. The preparation of Grignard reagents must be conducted in aprotic solvents to minimize interactions with strong proton sources that may result in undesired products. Furthermore, the solvent chosen for the reaction must dissolve everything in solution. Commonly used solvents in Grignard reactions are diethyl etherand tetrahydrofuran (THF). They are preferred over hexane solvents due to the presence of an oxygenatom which contains a lone electron pair that attracts the partially positive magnesium metal, resulting in increased stability. As mentioned previously, Grignard reagents are strong nucleophiles. Thus, there is a possibility that they may react with other molecules in side reactions. One such side reaction involves the Grignard reagent reacting with molecular oxygen (O2) to form a peroxide molecule. In another side reaction, the Grignard reagent may react with carbon dioxide(CO2) to form a carboxylate molecule. These side reactions can pose a problem since molecular oxygen and carbon dioxide are in excess under normal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Comparing Havisham And Valentine Havisham and Valentine are both poems written by Carol Ann Duffy. They both develop the idea of what love is really about, while being two completely different interpretations about love. The poet reveals the link between the two poems using a variety of techniques; Duffy expresses the reality of lovein Valentine in contrast to the exaggeration that love is a thing of hate in Havisham . Valentine directly tells the reader what love really is, Not a red rose or a satin heart / not a cute car or a kissogram. Duffy takes away the materialistic side of love on Valentines Day, and looks at it realistically, using an onion as a gift, instead. Imagery is used effectively in Valentine to develop the key idea. I give you an onion. It is a moon... this metaphor is used to express the idea of a gift larger than what it appears to be. The poet reveals the truth about love: It s fierce kiss will stay on your lips, possessive and faithful. In effect this shows that love can be controlling. • 15. The Three Assumptions Of Confessionalism Many protestants, not brought up in liturgical church settings, find themselves taken aback and confused when first reading the Nicene Creed. This is true especially pertaining to what the creed says about the church. Unfortunately, in many Baptist, Pentecostal, and non denominational Churches, the Nicene Creed is unfamiliar or unknown to the majority of Church members. A common argument against the use of creeds is why use a creed when we ve got the bible? While this may seem to be rooted in a very high view of scripture, Carl R. Trueman suggests that it is possibly an unwitting capitulation to the spirit of the age. In short, Trueman argues that the three assumptions of confessionalism, the past being important and of positive relevance today, language as being a stable transmission of truth throughout time, and the need for a body or institution capable of composing and enforcing creeds, are all countercultural in today s world. Trueman s third assumption can sound like nails on a chalkboard for many Christians. A seemingly ironic distrust of religious organizations exists heavily within Christianity. This skepticism about the church is why one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church can be a difficult thing to say, let alone believe. However, it is a misunderstanding of the church that leads to distrusting the creed s validity when it comes to the Bride of Christ. Stoichiometry Lab Report Stoichiometric Reactions with Phosphoric Acid By Jaime Conklin Partner: Deanna Ryan CHE 120 03 Instructor: Mr. Cusumano September 30, 2015 Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to examine the stoichiometric relationship between reagents and the identity of the products by using three acid/base neutralization reactions of a triprotic acid, phosphoric acid, and varying molar equivalents of sodium hydroxide. The data will be used to determine the formula weight of the products and identify the remaining salt for all three reactions. Introduction In this experiment, we learned about stoichiometry, empirical formula, molecular formula, polyprotic acids and bases, metathesis reactions, and moles. Stoichiometry is a very important part of chemistry. Stoichiometry refers to calculating the masses of molecules and their products . The reactants are usually given and stoichiometry is used to find the products of the equations as well balancing the equation. An example of this would be sodium chloride (NaCl). Stoichiometry will say that if there are ten thousand atoms of sodium and one atom of chlorine, only one molecule of sodium chloride can be made and that fact can never be changed. Ex: 10,000Na + 1Cl в†’ NaCl + 9,999Na Empirical formulas represent the ratio of atoms in a formula. It is expressed in the simplest, small, whole number ratio. At this point, the team leader isn t involved in any decision making. It is wholly up to the team to work on the project at hand and to reach their goal. It also allows the manager to see how well his/her team can work on their own two feet without having to be guided by a leader. • 23. The Nature Of The Poetry Of Percy Shelley s Mutability Shelley Percy is one of the most highly regarded Romantic poets of the 19th century. Many of Shelley s poem tell about the nature of the human condition. In many of his poems Shelley use elements of nature (seashells, the wind, the ocean, etc.) to discuss truths about the human condition. Percy Shelley examines the one consistent characteristic of being human in his poem Mutability . In his poem Mutability Shelley shows the fragility and unpredictability of the human condition. The poem opens with the speaker comparing humans to clouds that veil the midnight moon (Line 1). The clouds move radiantly across the sky and cover the light of the moon. The words speed , gleam , quiver and streaking personify the cloud image. Shelley describes the cloud s actions as a metaphor for human actions, How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver, / streaking the darkness radiantly! (Lines 2 3). He believes that humans go through life with speed, not taking time to rest; like clouds at night, we do not last forever. Shelley s use of the word of veil instead of covers creates a sense of purposefully hidden light. In lines three to four of the poem the wondrous sight is eventually extinguished by the darkness, yet soon/ Night closes round, and they are lost forever. By using this image of the night Shelley shows the cycle of change and demonstrates human morality. The speaker is pointing out that humans have short lives on Earth and regardless of how radiantly we may shine, we are like clouds at night that are overshadowed. In the second stanza Shelley describes the frailty of human existence. In lines five through nine humans are describes as forgotten lyres, whose dissonant strings/ Give various response to each varying blast,/ To whose frail frame no second motion brings/ One mood or modulation like the last. Shelley uses this as a metaphor that expands on the concept of human morality. In this stanza humans are compared to forgotten lyres saying that we will be forgotten when we are dead and gone. The different moods of the stanza are created by the different sounds of the lyre. Humans are being compared to instruments with beautifully melodies have been forgotten. Differences Between Structural And Closed Family Systems Module 8: Assignment Timothy Polk PSY530 Advanced Counseling Skills Helen Livingston 5 01 2017 1.Compare the definitions of dysfunction offered by Structural and Bowenian therapists. Structural therapists see dysfunction as it relates to the family. According to structural therapists the reason dysfunction occurs is when stressful situations happen that require individuals to adapt but they find themselves unable to do so because of boundaries that are either too rigid or too blurred . If the boundaries are too rigid it prevents stress from being transmitted to all members of the system and if they are too blurred it can lead to immediate and intense transmission of stress and potentially excessive reactions (p. 424). Bowenian therapists see dysfunction as problems that arise from the combination of anxiety and the differentiation of self. The higher the level of a person s differentiation or adaptability the better they will be at dealing with stress and thus combating dysfunction. 2.Describe the differences between open and closed family systems and give an example of each. The differences between open family systems and closed family systems are that open family systems allows for information to be passed through it allowing it to change and adapt when the need arises, while conversely a closed family system would be one that allows no information to pass through it therefore zero ability to adapt. With the last stanza And you, my father, there on the sad height (Thomas 16). The readers can conclude that the speaker is a son standing next to the deathbed of his father. Although deathbeds are low to the ground, the admiration of his father is a sad height because he looked up to him. Coincidently, the author was experiencing the same situation, making this poem very personal. One can only imagine these were his last thoughts as his father was dying. The readers can assume this poem was written in villanelle form to present it to his father. In the last stanza the speaker is imploring to his father to not go peacefully, but to be part of these men that refuse to die. In these last lines it finalizes the poem into a villanelle Do not go gentle into that good night ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. March 8th Research Paper March 8th is International Women s Day, defined by YES! Magazine as: a day started on March 8, 1857, in New York City by Garment workers who staged a protest against inhumane working conditions and low wages. Despite being attacked and dissolved by police officers, the movement continued. By 1908 the movement had grown to 15,000 women in the New York City march alone. It also expanded to include child labor, shorter working hours, and voting rights. The slogan for this rally became Bread and Roses with bread symbolizing economic security and roses for better living standards. May 1908, the Socialist party named the first International Working Women s Day on the last Sunday in February. In June of 1697 dissatisfaction reached a head ushering in a new era of rambunctious youth that had enough of the status quo. Dennis Ashwell was no different despite his background. He hailed from a penthouse in New York overlooking Central Park. He went to good schools and got good grades. In other words, we need different ideas to come to an optimal solution. Diversity encompasses a variety of differences between people in this world. Each individual is classified to be different from one another whether it is from age, gender, race, personality, education, background, experiences, and more. Varying viewpoints provides a team with a larger pool of ideas to work with and filter out what works for them. Modern day businesses that are striving towards success through innovation tend to lean teams building a diverse team. A variety of experiences and backgrounds creates a channel of people who can provide innovated ideas that may have never been thought of. In this paper, I argue that diversity promotes a higher potential of success for a company. Age diversity plays a significant factor in productivity. From the young to the old, knowledge will vary when it comes to age and experience. Together they will comprise of a team with different perspectives and interpretations of ideas. These factors contribute to the knowledge pool of the workforce which in return have a direct effect on their abilities to problem solve. Pricing would reflect efficiency of production; it would not be selling a dodge that the customer may well be sorry he accepted. It would be proper for all concerned and rewarding for the ability used in producing the product. (Lincoln, 1961) It is said that early company values exert influence over future company values. There have been lots of studies done around depth perception. Some have done studies on how different cues affect binocular and monocular vision in depth perception (Reinhardt Rutland, 1996). Others have studied how depth cues are used in tasks like computer and video based tasks (Westerman Cribbin, 1998). Visual depth perception is using cues to perceive the world in three dimensions and the distance of objects. There are many cues to help with depth perception. They can be categorised in either binocular vision (two eyes) or monocular vision (one eye). Binocular only has physiological cues (retinal disparity and convergence). Monocular has physiological cues (accommodation and motion parallax) and pictorial cues (interposition, elevation, texture, linear perspective, shading, aerial perspective, and familiar and relative size). Pictorial cues can be in two dimensions and doesn t need motion (Westerman Cribbin, 1998) whereas the other three (binocular, monocular and physiological) use motion and three dimensions. Monocular vision comes from changes of each eye connecting to distance. The most importance is accommodation. This is the change of lens curves needed to maintain a sharp image on the retina. With the way that monocular changes occur it is said that this influences depth perception most strongly. Monocular vision doesn t really affect depth perception but it does ... Before this bulletin it was not normal for the lessee to disclose the fact that the company was in a contract long term lease of an asset. The Accounting Institute of Certified Public Accountants felt that investors and other decision making personnel should have the right to know about leases in which a company was contractually bound. The committee states in this bulletin that when it clearly evident that the lessee will have ownership of the assetafter all payments are made, that the lessee should account for this in the assets and liabilities of the company s Balance Sheet. The committee believes that the AICPA issued the opinion that all long term leases should be disclosed in the financial statements or the footnotes. These disclosures include the payment amounts and other obligations assumed not only in the year in which they occurred but any material amounts in the life of the lease. (Committee on Accounting Procedure, American Institute of Accountants, 1949) Although, the main point of this bulletin was to address long term leases, the AICPA never formally defines what it means by a long term lease which can be assumed to be what modern day accounting defines as a capital lease. All of the messages and ideas that this play contains are expressed through literary devices, thus giving life to the major themes. Literary devices give meaning to The Visit because they construct the main theme, which is money can corrupt anything. To begin, there are many literary devices in The Visit , and they are continuously used with the purpose of constructing the play s main theme. These are some of the prolonged literary devices are symbolism, archetype, foreshadowing, characterization, and the setting. Symbolism is a great example because it has a direct relation with money. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This change in people s character again contributes to the main theme, and gives meaning to it. Furthermore, the setting is a fundamental literary device which forms the main theme and gives meaning to The Visit . This is because the setting paves out the environment and situation in which Guellen is in from the beginning of the book. All throughout Act 1 the reader is given the idea of how poor Guellen is and everyone is so humble and local. For example, how the train no longer stops in Guellen, how people only buy cheap local brands at the shop and not imported, how they accept Ill as dead for Claire s one million, how Ill is the most popular personality. These examples all show how the town functions, and how they are desperate for money and are willing to commit a moral crime in order to receive this money. The setting in the The Visit gives meaning to the play because it fundaments how and why Guellen is the way it is and allows the reader to understand the specific effects Guellen s history plays in the decision making, once Claire offers the one million pounds. So, literary devices also give meaning to The Visit because they lay the base for the play and how it develops. Finally, literary devices give meaning to The Visit because they comprise the main theme, which is money can corrupt anything. Literary devices give meaning by creating the bases of the play, and forming the main theme in wide number of ways. Literary devices are the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. A Feminist Stance In Politics A Feminist Stance in Politics in the Middle East During the first few weeks of my Women Filmmakers in the Middle East class we watched two films and did a few readings to start the semester. One of the readings was The Political Aesthetics of the Feminist Documentary Film by Julia Lesage. This reading was informative and also had arguments about feminist documentaries based in the Middle East that I really agreed with. The first film we watched was a documentary called The Play the second documentary was called The Four Women of Egypt. Although the women in the films are very different, they all have a very strong feminist perspective that have assisted in making a difference in this world and to me. Pelin Esmer, the director of The Play really emphasized that the women in this documentary were real in the sense that they had a low level of education and had gone through some really hard times. Theses factors played such a huge role in Esmer s political voice because they were displayed for the audience to become... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lease says Because women s identity is shaped and sustained in a sphere where men are largely absent, and because girls grow up in an emotional continuum with their mothers and the other women in their intimate environments (unlike a boy s Oedipal development), their emotional ties are deep to other women (231). I agree with this because in both films you are able to see the women influencing each other. In The Play the men (except for the principal) are not really involved and don t necessarily have a feminist opinion on female oppression. In The Four Women of Egypt, there is no man that is being interviewed or shown talking about feminism. Lesage s argument also makes sense to me because I was able to personally be inspired by these two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Gatsby Narcissism Analysis Millon s category of elitist narcissism will not be used in this essay because this type amplifies an already inflated self image as opposed to negating feelings of inadequacy and inferiority (Millon, Personality Disorders 339). Millon states that this type of narcissism stems from a fear of being ordinary (Personality Disorders 339). In my analysis, I argue that Gatsby s and Gray s narcissismcan be seen as a result of self esteem issues, and that excludes the elitist narcissism. Before moving on to the analysis, I am going to provide a description of the three subtypes used in this essay. Millon writes that unprincipled narcissists have the self confident behavior of the narcissist in combination with the abnormal behavior of antisocial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are very skillful in charming and attracting the emotionally naive and needy while fulfilling their hedonistic desires and sexual appetites as they see fit (Millon, Personality Disorders 339). Although this type of narcissist will imply to be looking for an exclusive relationship, they do not have a preference for legitimate intimacy and instead seduce several potential conquests at the same time (Millon, Personality Disorders 339). Millon states that these narcissists augment their sense of narcissistic power with sexual conquests, and after having won others over they swiftly write off their lovers and continue their game elsewhere (Personality Disorders 339). The sexual exploits of amorous narcissists are short lived, and last mostly one afternoon to only a few weeks. They normally view their partners as a temporary warm body that they can exploit before boredom overtakes them. Furthermore, amorous narcissists leave behind them a series of scandalous acts such as swindling, sexual abundance, pathological lying and fraud (Millon, Disorders of 411). Moreover, criticism or confrontations are not likely to change their ways as they will simply dismiss these as a result of jealousy by inferior people (Millon, Personality Disorders 339). Amorous narcissists will also in most cases display a considerable body narcissism, and care a great deal about their appearance and clothes (Millon, Personality Disorders ... • 56. Normative Expectations As I have grown older I have thought about how, where I live has shaped my life. I have moved two times in my life, I was born out of the country and I moved to an urban town in New Jersey when I was two, then when I was eight I moved to a suburban town. I think about the possibility of having lived two differents life s from the one I live now. My town is the typical middle class town that is seen on t.v. With only three schools in the district everyone is bound to know each other. The geographic location is very simple everything is within walking distance, the schools, the playground, and the shops. Where I live has shaped me to become a very observant individual. My town is a predominantly white community. When I moved, I noticed very quickly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I became more aware of how my elder neighbors interacted with my family. I noticed that they had very pretentious attitudes and they were always quick to point out our differences. Because of my new geographic location, my expectations about others changed. I went from believing that everyone treated each other equally to realizing that racism exist in this world. As a member of my community I did not focus on the negativity but instead on the positive aspects that make this town great, which is education. My normative expectations is that every student goes to college and creates a meaningful career for themselves. My perspective is not much different from my parent s perspective. The only differences is that they did not have the opportunities that I have. They grew up in Central America which shaped their expectations for their family. My father fought hard to achieve the American Dream and gave us a better life. My parents expect my brothers and I to have high academic standards and live a wholesome life. Their expectations help shape my normative perspectives. Which is why I had trouble understanding why some high school students do not attend college after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
