A Study Into Their Feeding Preferences
The importance of bees to our agriculture merits a study into their feeding preferences. Bees pollinate
a large proportion of crops and without them there would be a rapid decline in crop production. The
connection between bee feeding preferences and flower pigmentation is examined using Viola
cornuta. Three color variations were used including dark violet, light violet, and white flowers. Each
variation was observed for ten minutes in one minute intervals and this was repeated in ten different
trials starting at 1:00PM at Tallahassee Nursery. The trend resulting from the data showed strongest
preference for the most pigmented dark violet flowers and weakest preference for the least pigmented

The aim of this study is to observe how color affects the feeding preferences of bees in the wild. The
spectral range of the bee suggests that bees will prefer violet colored flowers and more specifically
highly pigmented violet flowers. Due to this it is suspected that bees will prefer to feed on dark purple
colored Violas cornuta over the light purple and white varieties of Viola cornuta. It could also occur

Methods Three pigment levels of Violas cornuta including dark violet, light violet, and white flower
variations were used. In an outdoor nursery setting the plants were studied in five by five rows of
plants and the plots were located next to each other. A total of thirty minutes was spent observing the
plants at the set time of 1:00PM. Each pigment variation was observed for ten minutes in one minute
intervals. The number of bees that land and feed on the particular variant being observed was
recorded. The mean number of bees on each pigment variation after ten observation periods was
calculated. A one tail ANOVA and a post hoc Tukey test was used to analyze the data.

education is key to patient success. The process of providing diabetes self management education
(DSME) may be facilitated by a variety of healthcare professionals, including nurses, dietitians,
pharmacists, physicians, mental health professionals, optometrists, podiatrists, and exercise
physiologists. Diabetes is a multifaceted, chronic disease that impacts body systems specific to each of
the disciplines (AADE, 2011). Single and multidisciplinary tools exist to facilitate the process of
effective patient assessment. Examples of these will be explored to identify strengths and
opportunities for improvement.
In an ideal setting DSME is provided by a multidisciplinary team, which allows the patient the
benefits of an array of expertise and perspective (AADE, 2011). While most patients benefit from this
approach, some may be averse to working with multiple team members and a single person on the
team may end up being the primary resource. It should also be noted that, not all patients have access
to a multidisciplinary team due to rural settings or barriers with insurance coverage. In these
situations, patients may receive care from a single healthcare professional that, with proper training
and mentorship from peers in other disciplines, can effectively provide education and support.

Every essay assignment changed my perspective on something or strengthened the knowledge I
already had but,with the Argumentative Essay I felt more engaged than ever with my assignment.The
ability to choose my topic already made me feel more in control, but i still had to critically
think.When I was determining what topic I felt more inclined to write about I was confused on which
to choose not because of lack of options but because my dilemma was that I had too much. In order to
truly pick I not only decided on what I was very passionate about, but also on a topic that I knew was
uncommon and could educate more than reiterate .I thought of Lobbying which I once wrote a speech
about and had a clear interest in. I had a lot of conversations with friends and family about lobbying
and came to the realization that it was not only important to me, but to everyone I knew whether they
knew about it or not it had a significant importance in their life.The process was interesting because I
didn t lack information, but I had a lot since it was something that I had read upon for a long time so
my struggle became the organization. I also had to make it clear and concise because I found it was
easy to become stray from your main thesis when you have a lot of information on the general topic.
My views didn t necessarily change yet the ideas and notions I had on Lobbying were strengthened by
the research I got and how I tried to deliver my argument. I felt that my essay did justice to the thesis
and my message was conveyed clearly.It was satisfying to have the counter arguments refuted because
I felt as though my message gained more value and credibility. The best way to explain the process is
by using a metaphor , I felt like a lawyer who was prepared to win for their client, except in my case
the client was my thesis and I was my own lawyer.My point was supported, but I also wanted those
which had counter ideas to feel that my argumentative essay did them justice by trying to analyze their
