Analysis Of Native American Folktales In The Snake Brothers
Today we often read a book or YouTube a video to learn something new or to entertain ourselves
but during the fifteenth century, technology did not exist and paper was considered a luxury.
The Native Americans used to entertain themselves by passing around stories orally, called
Indian folktales. The Native American folktales have different themes that portray different life
lessons. The life lessons that will be covered in this essay will be having self discipline, knowing
that every good thing comes to an end, and with every mistake there is a consequence. In The
Snake Brothers , the main theme is not listening to directions. One of the life lessons to be
learned is to listen to directions. The characters were four brothers all of whom were hunting for
game in order to survive. They happen to come across a buffalo who promised them it s meat, but
with the offer came a direction. The older brothers disregarded the directions and only took the
meat while the youngest brother listened to the buffalo s directions. This is proven in the story by,
The youngest brother went to the top of the hill and spread out the skin, skull, hooves, and tail just
as the voice had told them. (American Indian Myths 404, 405). The older brothers suffered a
consequence for not listening to the buffalo s directions, which happened to be turning them into
snakes and not being able to return to their village. However, the younger brother found much
success after listening to the buffalos

Analysis Of Neighbours By Tim Winton
How does Tim Winton s short story Neighbours explore the transition of individuals into new
phases of life and new social context?
New experiences shock and captivate readers consequently prompting a reassessment of their
perceptions of respect, truth and friendship. Tim Wintons short story Neighbours confronts
individual stereotypes through exploring the multicultural context in which the story is set. Winton
explores the transition of a young couple into a new phase of life by describing their move to a
lower socioeconomic suburb full of European migrants . The composer does not name the
characters, rather calls them the Macedonian Family and the Polish man , in order to show their
cultural differences and highlight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown through the emotive language of people smiled tirelessly at them and the positive
connotations associated with verb presents . Winton challenges the audience to question their
individual perspective upon society s moral truths and forces the revaluation of the values of
mateship. The composer is critiquing Australia s fractured historical truth through confronting
multiculturalism in society. Furthermore, Winton explores aspects of cultural acceptance through
showing the naivety of the young couple . The young man and young women are symbolic of the
lack of experience in the world and leaves them open to develop and mature as they experience
different aspects of the world. Thus, composers confront widely held perspectives regarding
mateship and acceptance to prompt a revelation of Australia s multicultural society.
New experiences prompt individuals to reconsider their upheld values in the social context in
which they re placed. Tim Wintons short story, Neighbours questions Australia s social discourse
by exploring the transition of individuals into a new phase of life. Winton challenges society s
ignorance and cultural stereotypes by displaying a provocative new experience which has the
ability to manipulate and change individuals perspectives. Society s ignorance can be

The Sixties Essay
1960 s Term Paper
The 1960 s impacted the United States in profound ways. With the seventy million baby boomers
growing into their teens, they brought with them change that is still evolving in our society today.
The sixties was a time where American culture moved from being conservative to new and
insightful ways of thinking. With these changes, it brought a new counter culture that would be
known as the hippie culture. The hippies led way into a new sexual revolution that would break the
old fashioned boundaries. The hippies also ushered in a new era where drugs became popular to a
large public as well as within their own culture. Drugs were becoming a part of American culture,
as well as new scientific research, into the benefits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sadly he was assassinated at the young age of 39, in Memphis, Tennessee. Another notable civil
rights activist was Malcolm X. His thoughts on how protesting should be done were much more
radical than King s and were often violent. Through this movement, the sixties saw the de
segregation of schools as well. To put it simply, the sixties were monumental in how our society
remains today. The United States today serves as the most diverse country in the world, all due to
the help of the Civil rights movement of the sixties. The people that would become associated with
the new teenage counter culture movement were known as the hippies. The movement began in
the mid sixties in the United States. The hippies often believed in peace and pleasure. They even
ushered in a new music genre of psychedelic rock. The Grateful Dead as well as the Beatles was
famous artists coming from the movement and genre. The hippies created their own communities
where they criticized the mainstream society and middle class. One thing they revolutionized was
sex. The sexual revolution moved from traditional ways of behaving to more promiscuous
activities and pleasures. The norms of American sexual culture would change greatly. Hippies
were promoters of free love in the sexual revolution. They taught that the power of sex and love
should be a part of everyday teenage life. In some colleges, they started to make dorms coed; in
which the males and females could come together freely. A

The Effects Of Environmental Sustainability On Western...
The Effects of Environmental Sustainability in Western Harbour
With the development of society, the life quality of human has been greatly improved. However, it
also leads to the destruction of nature, and this result in climate change. Climate change affects
human life in various aspects such as environment, economic, and social. For solving these
problems, an idea of sustainable urbanism was put forward. Brundtland Commission defined in
2010 that sustainable urbanism is a urban development which not only can meet the needs of
contemporary citizens, but also have the ability to meet the needs of future generations. Sustainable
urbanism can slow down climate change while at the same time balancing environment, economic
and social. Among these, environmental sustainability is most important. In 1995, Goodland
reported that environmental sustainability is an eternal challenge which requires the environment
which human being lives is not damaged, whilst the present and future generations can be fed and
housed well. This essay will focus on the effects of three aspects as recycling, energy use and
natural design of environmental sustainability in Western Harbour, Malmö, Sweden.

provides not only residential area, but also working, study, commercial and leisure areas for
residents. The power used in the district is completely local renewable energy, green vegetation can

Controlling Demand Through Pricing
Controlling Demand through Pricing: A report on the quantitative analysis of the ChocoMint bar
Introduction
ChocoMint is a bar of chocolate under ChocoHeaven, which is a distributor of organic
chocolate. In recent years, the business of ChocoMint bar encountered some problems. Since the
ChocoMint bar is manufactured overseas, the supply chain could be unreliable. Besides, as
ChocoMint is stored at special storage locations in the UK, the storage capacity for this kind of
product in the UK is limited. Therefore, in order to prevent the storage from exceeding the
company s storage capacity limits, as well as reduce the risk from supply chain (relying less on the
overseas supply chain), sales department of ChocoHeaven has been trying to ... Show more content

It is not a suitable model for the data that beyond its specific range of domain. Usually, the valid
range of domain of a linear equation is quite narrow when it is applied to practical problem.
Finally, linear models are typically based on a set of assumptions such as the requirement of
simplification of the data. They are not really suitable models for those data with complex context.
4.2 A more appropriate model
In the case of ChocoMint bar, the hyperbolic model might be more appropriate.
Figure4.2 hyperbolic relationship between monthly demand for ChocoMint and relative prices
y = 836.78x 0.854 RВІ = 0.8488 R = 0.9213
4.3 Justification of the hyperbolic model s higher suitability
Firstly, compared with the linear model, the value of correlation R of this hyperbolic model is closer
to 1. Thus, it indicates that the hyperbolic model represents the relationship between the price and
monthly demand much better.
Secondly, in the linear model, it shows that when the price decreases to 0 (which means the
ChocoMint bar is free), there is a limited demand for ChocoMint bar. However, the demand for
free goods are usually infinite in practice, which is exactly demonstrated by the hyperbolic model.
As the hyperbolic graph above indicates, when the price is approaching zero, the graph does not
intercept the y axis. On the contrast, it is infinitely close to y axis with increasing values of
monthly demand, which

Unique Aspects of Industrial Market Segmentation
What are the Unique Aspects of Business Market Segmentation?
A business firm must define the market in which it wishes to operate.
In defining the market, business market managers choose descriptors (bases) that characterize and

supplier firm.

the stage in the value adding chain before selecting the horizontal market segments.

The stage in the value adding chain where it decides to sell its output represents its choice of output

White Privilege In America
Dr. Peggy McIntosh makes a clear distinction between racism and white privilege. Personally, I
have seen and been affected by white privilege more than by racism. I have always been more
affected by the advantages given to whites than the disadvantages given to others. In school I was
always identified as an equal with my white friends, but there were scenarios where I had to work
harder to succeed. It was always difficult communicating my ideas to a predominantly white society.
As a Hindu, I always found it appalling when events at my school were cancelled due to pushback
from white Christian parents. As soon as a white parent would argue for something, administration
would immediately accommodate in any way necessary. When minorities, such... Show more

For example, while visiting family and friends in India, I have always noticed how differently
different tourist groups are treated. A white family will be pampered the entire trip and provided
extra accommodations to make their stays more pleasant, where as my family will be treated like a
commoner and not given any attention. While white privilege mostly refers to societal privileges
afforded to whites indirectly in Western countries, it is hard not to recognize the effects of white
privilege in other communities. Through my experiences, I believe the root of white privilege and
racism is the perpetual dominance of whites over others throughout history: dominance over money,
culture, environment, and people. While people try to eliminate white privilege, it is mostly white
activists trying to promote change. If white privilege is only being condoned criticized by activism
in the white community, it promotes the idea that only white people can engender change. In order
to truly fight white privilege, minorities and activists of all kinds need to unite and overcome the
difficulties. It may be hard in the short term to level the playing field, but once the playing field is
level and power is not controlled by whites, white privilege and racism can finally

What Is The Rise Of The New Age Religion
Rise of the new age religion
The new age religion refers to spiritual beliefs and practices aiming to foster individual fulfilment
in the form of personal happiness, health and meaning in life.New Age Religion is not a religion at
all, but a vast syncretism of numerous religious and philosophical ideas.
New age religions tend to be individualistic and search oriented rather than focused on an
established tradition that has an established community and structures of authority.New Age
practices became popular from 1960 s to 1970 s as a reaction to the failure of Christianity and
Secular Humanism to provide spiritual and ethical guidance for the future
They often involve a focus upon the development of the self and the exploration of individual

Museum Visit Paper Ante Meridian by Frederick Waugh
ART 101 My family and I recently visited the Orlando Museum of Art in Orlando, Florida. The
museum enjoys a seemingly eclectic collection of artifacts, sculptures, photographs, and paintings.
While perusing the gallery I was fascinated by one painting in particular. The piece was called
Ante Meridian , oil on board, c.a. 1935 by Frederick Judd Waugh (American 1861 1940). This
representational painting was of a presumably north eastern coast line where waves were battering
the cliffs and rocks during a stormy day. The sky was ominous yet you don t see the rain falling.

By his vertical placement of the cliff in the right forefront of the picture plane, he further
emphasizes the illusion of space. Second, the diminishing size of the sea, cliffs in the
background, and the jetty all express depth in the overall scene. The violent cove appears to
move away from us in to the open sea. Ante Meridian is an example of atmospheric perspective.
The foreground colors are bold and rich, whether it is the white wave caps or the cliff façade,
but as the scene retreats in to the distance, the sea, background rocks, and sky become bluer,
paler, and less distinct. The objects in the distance are blurrier to demonstrate this open space
even more. The implied changes in the position of the thrashing waves give you the feeling of
motion. The overlapping relationship of the storm clouds to the apparent clear sky, as well as the
curve of the rain clouds all imply these dark storm clouds are moving out to the left. Waugh also
gave a slight glimmer of sunlight beating down on the rocks in the background to further illustrate
the idea that the storm is moving on and the sun is breaking through. This bit of sunlight is the only
vibrant color in this paining. The whole aspect of the sea is implied motion. I believe with every
short, wide brush stroke used to paint the surf, Waugh intended to imply motion. The very nature of
water is movement but he went beyond what we know and tried to convey not just motion but

Background: One of the biggest challenges that faces the older adult population currently is the
increased incidence of falls and postural instability.1 2 Several randomized controlled trials have
been conducted to investigate the effectiveness of Tai Chi for Fall Prevention for older adults
using a twice a week program model. 3The purpose of this report is to identify if a once a week Tai
Chi program makes a significant difference in improving the balance of a 78 year old community
dwelling elderly.
Case Description: The subject of this study is a 78 year old female with post open reduction
internal fixation on right hip in June 2014. She typifies an excellent candidate for this study
because of a previous right hip fracture due to fall, multiple joint pains due to the diagnosis of
osteoarthritis, thoracolumbar dextro scoliosis, lumbar spinal stenosis, has sleep apnea, hearing and
vision deficits. Since May 2016, patient regularly participated in a once a week 45 minute Tai Chi
program offered at the local YMCA.
Outcomes: Despite the short period of an investigation conducted by this study, improved scores
on the balance test and measures (TUG, Tinetti, FFR, 6 minute walk test) indicated that the patient
s risk for falls is reduced. She demonstrates good balance, good overall strength and flexibility
enabling her to perform all activities of daily living (ADL) and intermediate ADL with minimal

William Pinsof, a clinical psychologist and president of the Family Institute at Northwestern

Research Paper On Friday Night Lights
Friday Night Lights Research Paper In H.G. Bissinger s novel Friday Night Lights he goes in
depth describing the world surrounding high school football in Texas. There is nothing like
high school football in Texas, it is the best thing to happen to many of the people that live there.
Winning a high school state championship in Texas can make someone a hero for the rest of
their lives. This being said, it causes a lot of difficulties once this peak in their life is over at
such a young age. Many of these people do not know how to live with themselves after their
days of football are over. They grow up and live through their kids. Sports and academics are two
of the areas of life where parents attempt to live their dreams and ambitions through their
children. Some parents try to continue their athletic careers or have a successful athletic career
through their kids on a daily basis. This can come from them not fulfilling lifetime dreams or
having an unsuccessful career when they had the chance to participate in these athletic events.
Charlie Billingsley is a very good example of one of those parents. He lives his old running back
career through his son, Don Billingsley, who also plays running back. Charlie was a very
successful player for the Permian football team. He played in college but let alcohol become more

The Marine Corps Is An Equal Opportunity Military Branch...
George S Patton once said, Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory (
Motivational Quotes. BrainyQuote. Xplore. Web. 04 May 2016.). As a Marine I was taught to
always accept challenges that are thrown at me, and to never to give up no matter how big or small
the challenge is. If the MarineCorps is an equal opportunity military branch of service so should the

military service the Marine Corps holds their selves to a higher standard in everything but especially
when it comes to their height/weight standards and overall appearance in their uniforms. Physical
fitness requirements and overall health plays an important part in how both men and women
Marines try to maintain their weight.
In the Marine Corps though men and women both serve together they often aren t treated the
same in certain areas. When it comes to weight standards a female and male can be the same height
but a male is allowed to weigh more than a female. For instance, taller women are allowed to weigh
more, with the weight limit set at 164 pounds for a woman who is 5 foot 8 and 184 pounds for a
woman who is 6 feet tall. By comparison, male Marines are allowed to weigh more but must
maintain a lower body fat composition . A man in the service is allowed to weigh up to 180 pounds
at 5 foot 8, and up to 202 pounds at 6 feet tall ( Female Marines May Be Allowed to Bulk up as

The Iliad And The Odyssey
Homer had once said In youth and beauty, wisdom is but rare! a very relatable quote to the story of
the Iliad. But who exactly is Homer? For starters, Homer was a poet who lived from 800 B.C.E and
died in 701 B.C.E. He was from Greece, and to be specific he had lived somewhere along the coast
of Asia Minor according to biography.com. Also, he is most famous for his epic poems which were
The Iliadand The Odyssey. Now as for whether he truly existed or not is still quite a mystery.
Some scholars believe him to be one man; others think these iconic stories were created by a
group. A variation on the group idea stems from the fact that storytelling was an oral tradition and
Homer compiled the stories, and then recited them to memory (biography.com, 2016). The story
of The Iliad, however, was one filled with a lot of love, betrayal, and you guessed it war. Part of
the reason that this epic poem focused so much on these three topics is because in ancient Greek
dramas those topics had the ability to receive the most attention from its viewers.
To begin with, a little background on the Iliad itself. The story was written over a span of 24
books total. It all begins during the middle of the Trojan Waraccording to David Silverman. And in
quick summarization, the Trojan War all began because Menelaus s wife Helenwas wooed by Paris

Culture influences leadership in many ways, so it is helpful to first understand what culture is.
According to our text culture is defined as the learned beliefs, values, rules, norms, symbols, and
traditions that are common to a group of people (Northouse, 2016). Culture is the way of life,
customs, and script of a group of people. Different cultures have different ideas about what they
want from their leaders, but by understanding cultural differences leaders can become more

By incorporating the principles of ethical leadership it provides the foundation for the

to respect others, service others, show justice, manifest honesty, and builds the community. In an

development of ethical leadership. I believe we must start with the leaders in order to get others to
follow along with the right behavior. Mangers in an organization should also be required to attend
a program and training to become more ethically effective at work and in life and to help make
ethical decisions. Managers and leaders can benefit and use the information to have a better

Inequalities In America
There are many types of inequalities throughout the world, but the major ones throughout the
United States would most likely involve one s gender, one s background and also one s financial
status. According to the Merriam Webster, inequality is defined as, an unfair situation in which
some people have more rights or even better opportunities than others. Many of today s United
Statescitizens came into this country for the many benefits and opportunities one tends to hear
about, but the negative situations and outcomes are never discussed. Just like any other topic,
inequalityhas both its positive and negative outcomes, whether it is necessary to give those who
want to succeed a bit of a challenge to get to where they deserve to be, to even... Show more content

If so then why is there something known as inequality! As was stated before there are two sides
to inequality, whether it is positive nor even negative. One of the major positive things coming
from inequality involves the idea that it is something that gives a person an urge with the
incentive of working hard to get to where they want to be. If they don t make as much money as
they would like to, they will definitely be a lot more motivated to work a lot harder in order to
achieve that goal of theirs. Those are the type of people who we want running our world, whether
it is from being our next doctor to even becoming the next president. It is quite different for
everyone, a beautiful blond with rich parents would definitely have a different experience than
someone who migrated from Mexico. Even though it may be easier for that beautiful woman to
become successful, that does not mean success is impossible for that one person who came to the
United States for a better future. All it would take would be hard work and dedication and anything
is possible, for anyone even though the world may think otherwise. This is only one of the few
positive incomes of inequality, but there are definitely more negatives than positives when it comes

Exploring and Unraveling Autism Essay
Autism Spectrum Disorder, known as ASD, is a range of complex neurodevelopment disorders,
characterized by social impairments, communication difficulties, and restricted, repetitive, and
stereotyped patterns of behavior. Autistic Disorder, referred to as autism or classical ASD, is the
most common and severe form of ASD. Other less severe conditions along the spectrum include
Asperger s Syndrome and Pervasive Development Disorder. Autismaffects information processing
in the brain by altering how nerve cells and their synapses connect and organize. It is not
completely understood as to why this occurs. Autism has a strong genetic basis and in rare cases, it
is strongly associated with agents that cause birth defects. According to the... Show more content on

In 1943, an Austrian American psychiatrist, Dr. Leo Kanner was one of the first to specialize in
child psychology and was credited with recognizing autism as its own unique mental disorder.
Kanner discussed his research based on a group of eleven children who all displayed similar
conditions such as social interaction difficulties, difficulty processing and adapting to changes,
particularly good memory, and exceeding sensitivity to sounds and other stimulants. Kanner used
the term autism to describe the main characteristics that all of the children he studied displayed
little to no interest in socializing with others. Lastly, Dr. Hans Asperger, a scientist and
pediatrician in the late 1900 s, also contributed research and multiple studies on children with
autism. Dr. Asperger is best known in the history of autism for defining Asperger s Syndrome.
Asperger s Syndrome is a less severe condition disorder along the spectrum. Asperger s Syndrome
is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, alongside restricted and repetitive
patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative
preservation of cognitive development. For many years, autism was rare, occurring in just five
children per 100,000 live births. However, according to the Autism Research Institute, since the the

Dark Inside Trust Quotes
The Significance of Trust
Trust is a valuable asset in which many people rely on everyday. Once trust is broken, it becomes
difficult to move forward in life and trust new people.Individuals must be cautious in the ways trust
will affect their life. In the novel Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts, the main characters often
contemplate if there are other people going through the same traumatising moments as they are, and
whether they would be considered trustworthy. These characters go through many times of struggle,
confusion, and bravery in order to find out whether the path they travel on will lead them to victory,
or traps they will regret falling into. Mason s risky encounter with Twiggy, Aries questionable

Intrusion Detection System ( Ids )
Abstract Increasing attacks and intrusion of the Internet and computer systems necessitate the need
for Intrusion Detection System (IDS) to prevent attacks. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is applied to
support IDS. Fitness function and GA operators crossover, mutation, and population representation
play an important role in improving the performance of an IDS: high detection rate, and low false
positive rate. This paper suggests a Fitness Function using Reward Penalty technique that rewards
the good chromosome and penalizes the bad chromosome, for improved performance. We suggest
that the GA parameters be optimized for better IDS performance.
Keywords Intrusion detection; genetic algorithm; fitness function; detection rate; false positive rate.
I.INTRODUCTION
Intrusion can be defined as the actions that attempt to compromise the integrity, confidentiality, or
availability of a computer resource [1]. Intrusion Detection System is a software or device to
discover the intrusion activity. Based on detection process, IDS can be classified into two groups:
Anomaly detection, and misuse/signature detection. Anomaly detection looks for rare or unusual
network activities, while misuse/signature detection uses past well known attack patterns signature
to identify illegal activities. This paper deals with only misuse/signature detection in computer
networks. Network attack types can be categorized into the following groups:
Denial of Service Attack (DoS): A DoS attack makes the computer

Application Security Testing
Application security is the use of hardware, software and procedural methods in order to protect
applications from internal or external threats. As more and more applications are becoming
accessible over networks, they are being exposed to wide variety of threats as well. Even the most
sophisticated application securitysystems are prone to breaches, and demand stringent automated
and manual test strategies at each stage of software development life cycle (SDLC). In this paper,
we will gain basic understanding of the different kinds of application security vulnerabilities, and
methodical planning to mitigate the associated risks.
Markets are being flooded with applications each day in several domains. As these applications are
getting increasingly complex and visually appealing, they are also becoming the main source of
data and security breaches.
A recent survey of security breaches at Fortune 500 companies showed that breaches in information
security could result in annual financial losses of up to $24 billion. With that said, 90% of large
corporations have found one or more breaches in their computer security and even worse, 70% of
those detected breaches were considered severe, many resulting in proprietary information theft and
financial fraud. Hackers can use several different paths through any application to harm the
business. If the companies secure host and network level entry points, focus of attacks usually
shifts to the public interfaces. Each path

Analysis Of Tick Tock By Brian Eno
Tick Tock is an ambient piece of music that was made as a direct influence of Brian Eno s four
part ambient series of albums. 2/1 in particularly from Music for Airports is a reference for the
aesthetics of the sound design in the song which has a lot of darkened textures and is almost
lullaby esque in nature. A lot of randomness is often found within the ambient genre as a piece is
meant to demonstrate an ever evolving state. This is hard to express in a one minute piece
however, so a constant tempo was decided upon for the piece. To introduce some kind of
randomness into it, the vocal part begins playing on different beats through out the evolution of the
music. Minimalist music had a massive influence of Eno s music and I also wanted to take the
aesthetics of that genre and try to apply it into my music. As a result of this, only using the three
selected sounds allowed me to avoid overcrowding the piece which isn t meant to be imposing in
nature i.e. background music.
The sound is derived from a vocal part saying tick tock and heavily laden with a clear long hall
reverb to give a huge depth to the voice. A slight delay on the voice is introduced halfway through
the piece to represent the ever evolving state in ambient music. The piano sound is a grand piano
mixed with a long hall reverb with a soft attack and medium long release to produce a dream like
characteristic as well as provide a deeper spacial texture to the soundscape. The third sound was a
string sound that

William Shakespeare created and developed the Character Tybalt as a foil for Benvolio in his play

the fact that Tybalt and Benvolio are cousins to the main roles Romeo and Juliet (Tybalt is cousin
to Juliet and Benvolio is cousin to Romeo), They are both very family oriented, this means that
they both are loyal supporters of their family and family name. Some differences in character

Nonhuman Primate Communication That Humans Learn Their...
One form of nonhuman primate communication that occurs in the wild is through noises
(Zuberbuhler 6). Most primates have species specific sounds for certain situations (Zuberbuhler 6).
For example, vervet monkeys have different alarm calls for different types of predators
(Zuberbuhler 10). The listeners of these calls respond to each call differently, protecting themselves
from specific predators (Zuberbuhler 10). This means that they are not just reacting to another
monkey being scared, but they know what scared it based on the call the monkey makes. Specific
calls therefore can be said to symbolize specific meanings (Zuberbuhler 10). However, it is not
known whether or not this is intentional or if the monkeys are aware of this. While this would not
necessarily be considered a language, it is one of their natural forms of communication. The human
listeners and nonhuman listeners both interpret arbitrary noises to mean something specific
(Zuberbuhler 11). However, a difference between human language and these primatecalls is that
humans learn their language socially (Zuberbuhler 11). There is no evidence to say that
nonhuman primate calls or sounds are learned socially instead of instinctual (Zuberbuhler 11). In
fact, there is some evidence to support the opposite. Monkeys reared in social isolation produce
basically all their species typical call types from soon after birth (Arbib 1054). This means that
these species specific calls are not taught, but they know them

was already a majority in favour for using force, if necessary, even though nothing like the Rhine

5,000 supporters gathered outside 10 Downing street for Chamberlain, 16,000 were
demonstrating at Trafalgar Square, after Munich. The mass media reported the supporters but
not the protesters. This bias which is also shown to journalists such as Norman Ebbut could be
the reason why public opinion started to sway on such a scale, so late. If Chamberlain did have
public support, other options to appeasement would have been more realistic. The censorship of
Ebbut s writings and his withdrawl from Berlin, which is reciprocated through the majority of

Stephen Jay Gould s Life
You have eight months to live that statement may elicit fear into a normal patient sitting in their
doctors office. Or perhaps it becomes a death sentence for that particular person. Yet, for Stephen
Jay Gould it became a motivator. Stephen Jay Gould, a Paleontologist, evolutionary biologist, and
historian of science, was diagnosed with abdominal mesotheliomain 1982. When he was told his
life expectancy was eight months he did what most would not; he looked at the statistics. Gould
was not an average patient suffering from cancer. He had training in statistics and a remarkable
attitude. He was also one of the most influential authors of his generation so, naturally, he wrote
an article about his battle. Gould s article brought up an endearing point: the median is not the
message. Well then, what is the point? Let s see if we can get a clearer answer on the message.
Few people have an adequate understanding of statistics. When a patient is diagnosed with a
disease one of the first things a doctor explains is the life expectancy. The median is the statistic
that s most often published about cancer survival, but it s not the whole story ( Don t let the
median scare you to death ). The median is the middle number in a study. It tells you nothing about
the other numbers. The others could be the same or fluctuate vastly. You can t tell your personal

Analysis Of Native American Folktales In The Snake Brothers Today we often read a book or YouTube a video to learn something new or to entertain ourselves but during the fifteenth century, technology did not exist and paper was considered a luxury. The Native Americans used to entertain themselves by passing around stories orally, called Indian folktales. The Native American folktales have different themes that portray different life lessons. They are not really suitable models for those data with complex context. 4.2 A more appropriate model In the case of ChocoMint bar, the hyperbolic model might be more appropriate. Figure4.2 hyperbolic relationship between monthly demand for ChocoMint and relative prices y = 836.78x 0.854 RВІ = 0.8488 R = 0.9213 4.3 Justification of the hyperbolic model s higher suitability Firstly, compared with the linear model, the value of correlation R of this hyperbolic model is closer to 1. Thus, it indicates that the hyperbolic model represents the relationship between the price and monthly demand much better. Secondly, in the linear model, it shows that when the price decreases to 0 (which means the ChocoMint bar is free), there is a limited demand for ChocoMint bar. However, the demand for free goods are usually infinite in practice, which is exactly demonstrated by the hyperbolic model. I have always been more affected by the advantages given to whites than the disadvantages given to others. In school I was always identified as an equal with my white friends, but there were scenarios where I had to work harder to succeed. It was always difficult communicating my ideas to a predominantly white society. As a Hindu, I always found it appalling when events at my school were cancelled due to pushback from white Christian parents. While white privilege mostly refers to societal privileges afforded to whites indirectly in Western countries, it is hard not to recognize the effects of white privilege in other communities. Through my experiences, I believe the root of white privilege and racism is the perpetual dominance of whites over others throughout history: dominance over money, culture, environment, and people. While people try to eliminate white privilege, it is mostly white activists trying to promote change. If white privilege is only being condoned criticized by activism in the white community, it promotes the idea that only white people can engender change. In order to truly fight white privilege, minorities and activists of all kinds need to unite and overcome the difficulties. The piece was called Ante Meridian , oil on board, c.a. 1935 by Frederick Judd Waugh (American 1861 1940). By his vertical placement of the cliff in the right forefront of the picture plane, he further emphasizes the illusion of space. Second, the diminishing size of the sea, cliffs in the background, and the jetty all express depth in the overall scene. The violent cove appears to move away from us in to the open sea. Ante Meridian is an example of atmospheric perspective. The foreground colors are bold and rich, whether it is the white wave caps or the cliff faГ§ade, but as the scene retreats in to the distance, the sea, background rocks, and sky become bluer, paler, and less distinct. The objects in the distance are blurrier to demonstrate this open space even more. The implied changes in the position of the thrashing waves give you the feeling of motion. The overlapping relationship of the storm clouds to the apparent clear sky, as well as the curve of the rain clouds all imply these dark storm clouds are moving out to the left. Waugh also gave a slight glimmer of sunlight beating down on the rocks in the background to further illustrate the idea that the storm is moving on and the sun is breaking through. This bit of sunlight is the only vibrant color in this paining. The whole aspect of the sea is implied motion. I believe with every short, wide brush stroke used to paint the surf, Waugh intended to imply motion. For starters, Homer was a poet who lived from 800 B.C.E and died in 701 B.C.E. He was from Greece, and to be specific he had lived somewhere along the coast of Asia Minor according to biography.com. Also, he is most famous for his epic poems which were The Iliadand The Odyssey. Now as for whether he truly existed or not is still quite a mystery. Some scholars believe him to be one man; others think these iconic stories were created by a group. A variation on the group idea stems from the fact that storytelling was an oral tradition and Homer compiled the stories, and then recited them to memory (biography.com, 2016). The story of The Iliad, however, was one filled with a lot of love, betrayal, and you guessed it war. Part of the reason that this epic poem focused so much on these three topics is because in ancient Greek dramas those topics had the ability to receive the most attention from its viewers. They formed in August of 1960, and were lead by Jerome Prince Shorty Freeman and Harold Money Walker their history is very similar to that of David s and Devil s Disciples, because they were such a close group from the start. Being formed for much of the same reason and having such a similar history to that of the Disciples I will only touch on a few important parts of their history. First: they were the first gang in Chicago (Quite possibly the whole USA too) to ever using gang signs. The sign was the formation of 2 hands in the shape of a Cobras head. Second: in 1962 a young man named Larry Hoover had sex with Jerome s then girlfriend. This would be the start of a resentment that would last for three decades. Third: Jerome was always really big on Black Rights and Political activism. He began to teach both Harold and Durkey about the Black Nationalism Movement, after a while this moved to include many others, among them where David, Mac, Shell, and Howard just to name a few. In 1943, an Austrian American psychiatrist, Dr. Leo Kanner was one of the first to specialize in child psychology and was credited with recognizing autism as its own unique mental disorder. Kanner discussed his research based on a group of eleven children who all displayed similar conditions such as social interaction difficulties, difficulty processing and adapting to changes, particularly good memory, and exceeding sensitivity to sounds and other stimulants. Kanner used the term autism to describe the main characteristics that all of the children he studied displayed little to no interest in socializing with others. Lastly, Dr. Hans Asperger, a scientist and pediatrician in the late 1900 s, also contributed research and multiple studies on children with autism. Dr. Asperger is best known in the history of autism for defining Asperger s Syndrome. Asperger s Syndrome is a less severe condition disorder along the spectrum. Asperger s Syndrome is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of cognitive development. For many years, autism was rare, occurring in just five children per 100,000 live births. In the novel Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts, the main characters often contemplate if there are other people going through the same traumatising moments as they are, and whether they would be considered trustworthy. These characters go through many times of struggle, confusion, and bravery in order to find out whether the path they travel on will lead them to victory, or traps they will regret falling into. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is applied to support IDS. Fitness function and GA operators crossover, mutation, and population representation play an important role in improving the performance of an IDS: high detection rate, and low false positive rate. This paper suggests a Fitness Function using Reward Penalty technique that rewards the good chromosome and penalizes the bad chromosome, for improved performance. We suggest that the GA parameters be optimized for better IDS performance. Keywords Intrusion detection; genetic algorithm; fitness function; detection rate; false positive rate. I.INTRODUCTION Intrusion can be defined as the actions that attempt to compromise the integrity, confidentiality, or availability of a computer resource [1]. Intrusion Detection System is a software or device to discover the intrusion activity. Based on detection process, IDS can be classified into two groups: Anomaly detection, and misuse/signature detection. Anomaly detection looks for rare or unusual network activities, while misuse/signature detection uses past well known attack patterns signature to identify illegal activities. This paper deals with only misuse/signature detection in computer networks. • 30. Application Security Testing Application security is the use of hardware, software and procedural methods in order to protect applications from internal or external threats. As more and more applications are becoming accessible over networks, they are being exposed to wide variety of threats as well. Even the most sophisticated application securitysystems are prone to breaches, and demand stringent automated and manual test strategies at each stage of software development life cycle (SDLC). In this paper, we will gain basic understanding of the different kinds of application security vulnerabilities, and methodical planning to mitigate the associated risks. Markets are being flooded with applications each day in several domains. As these applications are getting increasingly complex and visually appealing, they are also becoming the main source of data and security breaches. A recent survey of security breaches at Fortune 500 companies showed that breaches in information security could result in annual financial losses of up to $24 billion. With that said, 90% of large corporations have found one or more breaches in their computer security and even worse, 70% of those detected breaches were considered severe, many resulting in proprietary information theft and financial fraud. Hackers can use several different paths through any application to harm the business. • 33. Analysis Of Tick Tock By Brian Eno Tick Tock is an ambient piece of music that was made as a direct influence of Brian Eno s four part ambient series of albums. 2/1 in particularly from Music for Airports is a reference for the aesthetics of the sound design in the song which has a lot of darkened textures and is almost lullaby esque in nature. A lot of randomness is often found within the ambient genre as a piece is meant to demonstrate an ever evolving state. This is hard to express in a one minute piece however, so a constant tempo was decided upon for the piece. To introduce some kind of randomness into it, the vocal part begins playing on different beats through out the evolution of the music. Minimalist music had a massive influence of Eno s music and I also wanted to take the aesthetics of that genre and try to apply it into my music. As a result of this, only using the three selected sounds allowed me to avoid overcrowding the piece which isn t meant to be imposing in nature i.e. background music. The sound is derived from a vocal part saying tick tock and heavily laden with a clear long hall reverb to give a huge depth to the voice. A slight delay on the voice is introduced halfway through the piece to represent the ever evolving state in ambient music. The piano sound is a grand piano mixed with a long hall reverb with a soft attack and medium long release to produce a dream like characteristic as well as provide a deeper spacial texture to the soundscape. The third sound was a string sound that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Nonhuman Primate Communication That Humans Learn Their... One form of nonhuman primate communication that occurs in the wild is through noises (Zuberbuhler 6). Most primates have species specific sounds for certain situations (Zuberbuhler 6). For example, vervet monkeys have different alarm calls for different types of predators (Zuberbuhler 10). The listeners of these calls respond to each call differently, protecting themselves from specific predators (Zuberbuhler 10). This means that they are not just reacting to another monkey being scared, but they know what scared it based on the call the monkey makes. Specific calls therefore can be said to symbolize specific meanings (Zuberbuhler 10). However, it is not known whether or not this is intentional or if the monkeys are aware of this. While this would not necessarily be considered a language, it is one of their natural forms of communication. The human listeners and nonhuman listeners both interpret arbitrary noises to mean something specific (Zuberbuhler 11). However, a difference between human language and these primatecalls is that humans learn their language socially (Zuberbuhler 11). There is no evidence to say that nonhuman primate calls or sounds are learned socially instead of instinctual (Zuberbuhler 11). In fact, there is some evidence to support the opposite. Monkeys reared in social isolation produce basically all their species typical call types from soon after birth (Arbib 1054). This means that these species specific calls are not taught, but they know them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
